Peggy Will Be Back On Mad Men, Confirms Matthew Weiner image
When Peggy Olson walked away from Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce near the end of the latest Mad Men season, off to take an exciting job at rival firm Cutler, Gleason and Chaough, a lot of fans thought it was time to panic. Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner has never had a problem writing off beloved characters entirely-- see ya, Sal!-- and though everyone had believed Peggy was the heart of the show, her relationship with Don the main thread, it suddenly seemed possible that Peggy was simply gone for good.

Peggy, played by Elisabeth Moss, did briefly appear in the final episode, and with Moss giving no indication that she was looking for another job, things were at least looking positive for Peggy's return. Now Weiner is finally letting us out of our misery, confirming to TV Line that Peggy "is going to be on the show next year. I can't say how much, or what it's going to be, but she has not left the show."

Phew! Weiner didn't really elaborate any further, beyond acknowledging that thanks to international pre-sales, "there will be a Season 7," regardless of ratings. And given how little Weiner tends to promise about anything that will happen in the future of Mad Men-- before this latest season began, he didn't even want critics to reveal what year the show was taking place-- we should probably just take these nuggets of info and be happy. We have no idea when Season 6 will actually begin airing, but eventually, someday, we can look forward to the return of both Mad Men and Peggy Olson. Thank God.
