Spike Approves New Car And Tattoo Reality Shows
Yesterday, I reported on Country Music Television's uncanny knack of staying entirely in its wheelhouse. The same could be said about Spike TV. The men-friendly network has spent the last few years creating series' directly catered toward its adrenaline-fueled demographic, and today's announcement of two new reality offerings does nothing to buck the trend.
According to Deadline, the programs in question will focus on tattoo artists and car salesmen respectively. The first, entitled InkMasters, will be a six episode competition showcasing original artwork from some of the nation's most esteemed inkers. The winner will receive bragging rights and a generous cash prize, but with only a half dozen shows ordered, it's a little unclear what type of talent the show might attract. The second, entitled Car Boss, is in the vain of business fixer-ups like Tabatha's Salon Takeover and Kitchen Nightmares. It'll follow languishing car dealerships who get a visit from an expect in a last ditch attempt to shore up the bottom line.
Both reality programs will begin principal photography later this year, likely with an air for product sometime early in 2012.
