Steven R McQueen Cast In Vampire Diaries

Where was the entertainment industry when I was a younger lad into the vampire situation? It seems like whenever I turn on the TV or browse the internet I’m hearing about yet another vampire story. Whether it’s Twilight, Moonlight, or some other light I can’t escape it. And most of it’s bad, or at best mediocre. Perhaps I should be thankful that I had Buffy, the greatest vampire story ever put to film, and not some of these lamer attempts.

So it was in this mindset that I perused Production Weekly and was not in the least surprised to see that Steven R. McQueen – Steve McQueen’s grandson – has been cast as Jeremy in The CW’s Vampire Diaries. The series, from Kevin Williamson of Scream and Dawson’s Creek infamy, is about two vampire brothers. One is evil, one is good; and they’re both after a girl named Elena. Being vampires they’d also like a taste of her family and friends in the town they live in. Sounds overly dramatic and in need of an all new Pacey on television to me.

I kind of hate that so much of the vampire lore coming out is of the trite variety that Twilight has unleashed on the world. It still astounds me that anyone liked CBS’s Moonlight. I’ll stick to my Buffy and original Vampire Chronicles, thank you very much.
