He is McLovin. Or he was, in Superbad, but it looks like Christopher Mintz-Plasse may be looking to further build onto his career on the small screen. The actor, who also starred in Role Models and Fight Night, has been cast to co-star in a CBS comedy pilot titled Friend Me.

Deadline posted the news, stating that Mintz-Plasse joins Nicholas Braun in the comedy pilot by Alan Kirschenbaum and Ajay Sagal. The concept follows two guys who move from their hometown in Indiana to Los Angeles to work at Groupon.

As Deadline notes, the only other TV credit Plasse has is an episode of Starz’ Party Down, but this won’t be the first time he’s appearing in something with Nicholas Braun. Both actors are set to play roles in the Dylan Kidd directed film Get a Job, which stars Bryan Cranston, Alison Brie and Anna Kendrick. The site isn’t clear on what kind of role Minzt-Plasse will be playing in Friend Me, but judging by his most notable roles, he’s proven to be adept (and very funny) at underdog-type characters. We’ll have to wait and see how things go for this comedy and whether it finds a place on CBS’ primetime line-up.
