True Blood: The Complete Fifth Season Hits Blu-ray And DVD In MayAuthor: Jessica Rawden

True Blood has been gearing up for Season 6 for a while, adding names as varied as Jurnee Smollet, Amelia Rose Blair, and Arliss Howard. Since HBO never releases Blu-ray or DVD sets until just before the new season airs, nothing says Season 6 is coming like True Blood: The Complete Fifth Season, which will hit Blu-ray and DVD on May 21.
True Blood has always featured some out-there plotlines, but I don’t really think I understood the true depth of its wild possibilities until HBO aired Season 5 last summer. From an excellent guest stint from former Law and Order: SVU actor Christopher Meloni to major discussion of vampire freedoms and politics and the action that followed, Season 5 went out on a limb and went big with its plotlines. Season 5 was also the last season run by Alan Ball, and really, fans shouldn’t expect less from the dramatic mastermind. True Blood: The Complete Fifth Season should prove to be a great set for anyone who really loves the series and anyone who for whatever reason, didn’t tune in to HBO’s hit show during Season 5. HBO always puts together a nice—although pricey—set, and The Complete Fifth Season won’t be an exception, with Blu-ray copies running at $79.99 and also including DVD and digital content, and DVD copies running at $59.99.
