True Blood Season 4 Photo: A Vampire Family Portrait

I love spotting a current TV star in a relatively small role in some older show. Just the other day I was watching October Road Season 2 (warm weather gives me some very random TV cravings), when who did I see playing the role of Nick’s deceased mother but Jessica Tuck, known to True Blood fans for her portrayal of the ambitious vampire spokeswoman Nan Flanagan.

Tuck’s part on October Road was limited to some home video scenes in a Christmas episode. Technically, her True Blood character Nan shares Caroline Garrett's deceased status, but with vampires running around Bon Temps, defying death with their very existence, the HBO drama is a bit more flexible in how it defines "dead" as it relates to the activeness and relevance to the characters. Given that Tuck’s been bumped up to series regular for Season 4, we should expect to see even more of Nan as she attempts to clean up the bloody P.R. mess made by Russell in Season 3.

As if to emphasize her upgraded status on the show, Nan is included among the vampires in this new promotional photo, which looks more like a family portrait (or one of those really old family portraits where no one’s smiling).
