Not exactly famous for its hilarious original shows, USA Network is breaking format and betting on an old favorite with a new idea. The cable channel has just purchased a pitch from former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer. The half an hour sitcom entitled The Dicocco Brothers will follow a wannabe internet entrepreneur who decides to relocate to the West Coast with his New Jersey bred family in tow. It’s an idea that just sounds like a sitcom, and it’s one USA could make a lot of money off of if all involved can find the right level of ridiculous.

The Dicocco Brothers was created by Ed Cannistraci and his brother Chris who brought the project to Grammer who in turn brought it to USA. For his troubles, the upcoming star of Boss will pick up an executive producer credit along with the rest of his team at Gramnet Productions.

It’s been awhile since USA Network has moved forward with a half hour comedy. According to Deadline, their most recent attempt last year with Ron White went nowhere, but there’s no reason to go in a new direction just for the hell of it. If The Dicocco Brothers lives up to its promises, it’ll end up on the fall schedule. If it doesn’t, USA will just give it a third shot with someone else next year.
