It's probably not especially surprising that Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's comedy series Life's Too Short isn't going forward with a second season, considering more than a year has gone by since the first season aired on BBC 2, and we're coming up on a year since the mockumentary debuted on HBO. But on the bright side, there will be a special to wrap up the one-season series.
Deadline reports that the HBO/BBC comedy Life's Too Short will return to HBO for a special that will close out the series. Reportedly, this is something Gervais has had in mind since last summer, around when they knew the show wasn't likely to be renewed for Season 2. The mockumentary/comedy starred Warwick Davis as himself as he dealt with his career and personal issues. It's bad news for people who were fans of the show, but at least it'll have some kind of ending, which is more than plenty of other one-season shows get.
The special will air on HBO at some point later this year. In the meantime, those who want a bit more Warwick Davis can catch him as he teams up with Karl Pilkington for the third season of An Idiot Abroad, which debuts stateside January 19 on Science. And Stephen Merchant has Hello Ladies in the works at HBO. As for Ricky Gervais, among his upcoming projects is the Muppets sequel, not to mention Derek, which is slated to stream via Netflix this year.
