Homeland is adding an Oscar-winning actor to the ranks for Season 2. F. Murray Abraham is joining the Showtime series in a recurring role. The actor won’t be on board for the season premiere, but he will pop up a little later as a CIA operative who has been with the agency for a long time.
Entertainment Weekly says Abraham will be playing Dar Adul, an operative who has worked across the globe for the CIA’s Special Activities Division. There’s very little information that has been released about the character--beyond his name and job title--so we’ll have to wait to find out just what role this new character will have to play in the series. F. Murray Abraham has a long list of television credits and a Best Actor Oscar win for the 1984 movie Amadeus. He recently popped up in Louie, Blue Bloods, and The Good Wife, among other appearances.
Among the other new faces we’ll see when the show returns are Rupert Friend, who will play a CIA agent, like Abraham, and Zuleikha Robinson, who is set to play a journalist. Robinson’s character will be introduced in the first episode of the season, and we won’t have too long to wait for his appearance.
Homeland is gearing up for Season 2 and has been generating a whole lot of buzz. The series is up for nine Emmys, which is a record, and those involved with the show are likely to take at least a few of those home. The wait for the second season to begin is almost at an end--Homeland will return to Showtime on Sunday, September 30th.
