Sunshine Synopsis

Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity.

Millions was fun, but it's even more exciting to see Boyle returning to the genre he has helped reinvigorate. No zombies this time around (at least none that we know of) as Boyle turns away from pure horror and family movies with a sci-fi venture. Boyle himself says that one of the joys of an ensemble cast in a sci-fi film is that you never know whose going to die, so expect lots of suspense and terror. Could Boyle be bringing a new Alien feeling to science fiction?

The official site for the movie doesn't only contain information on the sun, but also delves into mythology. Is there more to Boyle's film than we're being told? Probably, but you can count me in being there opening day to find out just what he's cooking up.
