Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 12: To The Lost

At the beginning of the season, I had Boardwalk Empire's second season pegged as “The Rise and Fall of Nucky Thompson”. To a certain degree, I hit the nail on the head. However, in retrospect, it was also flat out wrong. This season was truly about Jimmy Darmody's rise to power, and how he dealt with inheriting a criminal empire. The end of this week's makes some fundamental changes to the power dynamic in Atlantic City, and sent one more more major player amongst The Lost.

Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 11: Under God's Power She Flourishes

With one episode left after tonight, Boardwalk has decided it's the perfect time to up the body count, as well as the weirdness factor. I would even go as far as to wager that this week's episode had the most disturbing scene in Boardwalk history. It wasn't all horrifying events, in fact this week seemed like one of the tamer episodes, which is weird considering how well this season has worked on the whole. Still, even a tame episode tends to be one worth watching.

Boardwalk Empire Watch: Season 2, Episode 10 - Georgia Peaches

Pulling out the quote of the week is usually just based on whatever sounds cool from the week's episode at hand. Sometimes it matches the episode's happenings, sometimes it's just ominous, and sometimes it just is. But believe me when I tell you that picking this week's quote was a matter of picking what sounded cool during the episode. Seriously, I couldn't have seen the ending to this week's episode until it was too late, and by that time I was too stunned to make an immediate connection.

Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 9: Battle of the Century

Only four episodes (including this week's) remain of the Second Season, and if events unfold as they should they will prove to be a very harsh and trying four episodes. This week: Nucky's trip to Ireland yields some interesting results, we see what was going on with Maragaret's daughter, Jimmy gets an upgrade from “Prince” to “King”, and Chalky is about to raise some hell for the new City Treasurer. Also, I get it wrong yet again with my crystal ball predictions.

Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 8: Two Boats and a Lifeguard

This week's episode, while absent of any big “BANG!” moments, still presented its own understated twists and turns. The power structure in Atlantic City is under attack and revision as Nucky starts to make some strategic decisions. Meanwhile, Jimmy and his boys make some moves of their own as Angela starts to drift further out from his grasp. As if this weren't all dramatic enough, Van Alden wrestled with his conscience again, Chalky White has an interesting task ahead of him.

Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 7: Peg of Old

Every show has those episodes where in the last five minutes (or “the golden window” as a buddy of mine used to call it), big events happen and you’re already anticipating the next week’s episode the moment the credits rise. The last five minutes of this week’s Boardwalk Empire are those last five minutes that everyone who watched it will be talking about today. It’s not even a safe idea to approach a fellow Boardwalk fan today, lest they ask you “Did you see when…”? To anyone who isn’t exactly caught up with the current season I highly suggest that you do, because it’s all downhill from here.

Boardwalk Empire Watch – Season 2, Episode 6: The Age of Reason

This week has Nucky Thompson has competition gunning for him at every angle in his life. As if Jimmy's cadre trying to muscle him out of the liquor business wasn't enough, Margaret is now thinking of another man and an old foe from last season decides to make life miserable for the Treasurer of Atlantic City. By the end of “The Age of Reason”, a new alliance will be solidified, faith will be tested, and someone's going to learn an important lesson.

Boardwalk Empire Watch – Season 2, Episode 5: “Gimcrack and Bunkum”

It's Veteran's Day at the Boardwalk, and while the war abroad has been concluded, the war at home is only further intensifying. The Commodore's people can only keep news of his stroke secret for so long, and Elias looks to be headed for a downward spiral. Meanwhile, Richard goes hunting, Nucky and Jimmy flare up, and by the end of this episode someone winds up dead. All this, and a wee bit o' Owen Sleater charm, as the curtain goes up on Act II.

Boardwalk Empire Watch - Season 2, Episode 4: What Does The Bee Do?

Season 2 of Boardwalk Empire hits about roughly the end of Act I this week, and a lot of balls in the air. The Darmody booze empire is rising, and as such Nucky has to rely on some an old enemy turned ally to shore up his reserves. Meanwhile Chalky White continues to lose patience with Nuck's calls for just that, Margaret is starting to get a little darker, and the two women in Jimmy's life are using his absence to get a little closer to two of our most prominent side characters.

Boardwalk Empire Watch: Season 2, Episode 3 - A Dangerous Maid

Season 2 of Boardwalk Empire has been setting up the Fall of Nucky Thompson, and so far it's done a great job. But starting with this week's episode, we've started taking a turn towards more family matters. Dealing with the expectations of one father is enough. No matter what we do, we always want to be able to say that Mom and Pop are proud of us. This week was Father's Day on Boardwalk Empire, as we saw fathers and children go head to head with their views on the world.

Boardwalk Empire Watch: Season 2, Episode 2 - Ourselves Alone

Last week on Boardwalk Empire, we saw a lot of events occur that might be more fitting of a Season Finale. Nucky was arrested for Election Fraud and trying to cope with playing “family man” for Margaret, Jimmy began his shifting of allegiance from his surrogate father to his biological, Al Capone didn't like where things were going in Chicago, and Nelson Van Alden was getting right with God... and his pregnant mistress. But in the tradition of many fine HBO dramas, that’s just the start.

Boardwalk Empire Season 2 Premiere Watch - 21, The House Wins

Season 1 of Boardwalk Empire set us up for a fall. Nucky Thompson, the man who so charismatically won his way into the hearts and minds of America through the course of 12 episodes was starting to strike a match on the bridges he so carefully cultivated over the course of years. He's ticked off his own blood, his old mentor, even his former protege, not to mention several heavy hitters in organized crime and Government.
