Get ready to move it, move it. Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria are back and causing more havoc in Africa. You’ll get all of the wildlife hilarity you can handle because on February 6th, Paramount Home Entertainment and DreamWorks Home Entertainment bring you the Move it! Move it! Double DVD Pack, which comes with Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa as well as two adventures from the Nickelodeon series The Penguins of Madagascar.
When last we left our fun loving crew of animals, they were ready to head home to New York penguin style. Unfortunately, the penguins don’t tell them that there isn’t enough fuel in the plane and it crash lands in Africa. The change of plans isn’t a total loss; all of the animals are surprised to meet wild versions of themselves. Alex the lion (Ben Stiller) reunites with his parents (Bernie Mac and Sherri Shepherd), Gloria the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) develops a relationship with another hippo named Moto Moto (Will.i.am), Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer) becomes a Witch Doctor and Marty the zebra (Chris Rock) enjoys the company of a wild group of zebras who happen to look, speak and act exactly like him. Meanwhile, the penguins are scheming away, as usual. Will they ever return to New York?
With a great cast, great animated film and great buying options, I really do love it, love it. We have Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Bernie Mac, Alec Baldwin, Sherri Shepherd and Will.i.am. That comes to a total of 11 huge stars; and funny ones at that. What makes the film even better is that it doesn’t even rely on its star power. The film is genuinely very funny. Both Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and its predecessor rocked the box office and entertained millions of families across the country.
Those loyal fans won’t be disappointed because all of the available editions of this film will be accompanied by loads of bonus material. You can keep it simple with the single-disc DVD and still get a number of extras including filmmaker commentary and “The Making of Escape 2 Africa.” If you bump it up to the two-disc version you can add even more bonuses including a DVD-ROM which gives you a flash mini-game, an exclusive cheat code for the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa videogame, HP printables and some weblinks. If you’d like to see this animation with the clarity of BD, you’ll get the two Blu-ray exclusive elements “The Animators’ Corner” and “Trivia Track.”
It must be pretty obvious that I’m certainly going to pick up a copy of this film. It’s the perfect mood-lifter and gets more fun the more you watch it. Buying a copy of this film now could be a good investment because you’ll need to prepare for the release of Madagascar 3 in 2012. Looks like these animals are going to move it, move it at least one more time and you better be prepared to do it with them.
