You Again, Asking Again About You Again?

It was a nice reprieve from the norm of female comedians, when Golden Girl Betty White briefly appeared on the A-list. It was cool when Betty White showed up on SNL after Facebook pleas for her appearance went viral. It was slightly less cool when she showed up opposite the crew on Community, playing a teacher with crazy defensive skills in a plotline that was not the season’s finest. But it was noticeably not cool when White showed up in You Again, a movie that blends terrible comedic timing with superb stereotypes. You can only focus on an old lady saying outrageous things so many times before it becomes less than endearing. Rachel Feinstein from Last Comic Standing should know what I’m talking about.

You Again will appear on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 8th, just in time to buy the film for any girlfriend who understands nothing about comedy. Sans Betty White -- or if your opinion differs from mine, with her -- the cast is decently all-star for a movie of this caliber. Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sigourney Weaver star, and perhaps their presences are the only enticing reasons to curl up with a pint of ice cream for this one.

Both discs will feature an on-the-set look with director Andy Fickman, an ask-the-cast featurette, a Funny or Die spoof (which is hopefully better than the flick itself), and deleted scenes. In addition, the Blu-Ray will feature some extra deleted scenes and the horrible sounding “Blooper Dance Party” (I promise to renege this statement if someone proves this only features Kristin Bell).

If I’m coming across as harsher than I meant to be, here’s a good frame of reference: You Again was not as bad as The Bounty Hunter. It was worse than He’s Just Not That Into You.
