Remember the days when TV didn’t come in color? Anybody? Let’s try this again. Remember the days when CD players cost people, like, $700 dollars? Don’t bullshit me. Even if you don’t, there is always The Wedding Singer to fall back on. Blu-Ray players have been priced in the several-hundred-dollar range up until the past couple of years, when they, too, hit what will be their eventual technological downfall: the nose dive of consumer cost.
According to a chart of trends followed on NewsDeal, Blu-Ray players are predicted to drop to a low price of $40 dollars in 2011. To reassert, this doesn’t mean the average Blu-Ray player will be this cheap, but it does mean you could theoretically buy one for this cost, new. Other products expected to be affected by 2011 price drops include the Kindle, the Nintendo Wii, and really big HDTVs.
I just can’t wait to drive my manga-doll kids around in a mini-hovervan while they watch Avatar VI via a hologram drive, giving HD a new definition.
