Piranha 3D Eats Its Way Into Homes This Month

With plans for a sequel hitting the news last month, Piranha seems to be rapidly turning from a single campy film into a franchise. Piranha 3DD won’t hit theaters until August of 2011, but to whet your appetites, Piranha is coming to Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, and DVD next Tuesday, January 11th.

In case the title is not self-explanatory, Piranha is the story of a small spring break town, which, after a weird inter-earth disaster, releases a slew of bloodthirsty, prehistoric piranhas on its water-loving, college-aged guest population. It features an A-list B-movie cast, including Ving Rhames (the large black dude not in The Green Mile), Jerry O’Connell (still skinny after all these years!), Elizabeth Shue (still hot), and Adam Scott (star of the much unwatched, but awesome Party Down). If you really loved this flick, the 3D version of the film will come in an extended cut.

In addition, if you buy the Blu-ray 3D version of the film, you’ll receive a non-3D copy of the film. Each film version will be accompanied by filmmaker commentary and behind-the-scenes featurettes. If you spring for the Blu-ray copy, there will be extra special features, including a trailer and TV spots, deleted scenes with optional commentary, and storyboards. All versions include piranhas, boobs, and death.
