We’ve known for a while that the upcoming animated Wonder Woman DVD movie would offer a kind of Waitress reunion, with Keri Russell voicing the title character and Nathan Fillion voicing Steve Trevor, as we reported back in February. AICN has some news on a few more big names attached to the project, which comes to DVD later this year.

According to the site, the upcoming Batman: Gotham Knight DVD will have a short featurette about Wonder Woman on it, which reveals three more voices used in the movie, which is based on George Perez’s relaunch of DC’s Amazon warrior when she went head-to-head against Ares, god of war. Ares, probably the third most important role in the movie (after the romantic couple), will be voiced by Spider-Man 2’s Alfred Molina – a pretty cool piece of casting news.

Also involved ill be Virginia Madsen and Rosario Dawson, who will play Hipplyta the queen of the Amazons, and Artemis, another of the Amazon warriors, respectively.

DC’s direct-to-DVD comic book movies have been pretty good thus far. Superman: Doomsday wasn’t as good as the animated series was at times, but considering the massive amount of material it tried to cram into a two hour movie, even it was impressive. I look forward to seeing how DC can do with Wonder Woman, especially considering all the obstacles a live-action attempt has suffered. Who knows, maybe the success of the animated movie could fire back up discussions on that live action flick, and Keri Russell wouldn’t be the worst pick to play Wonder Woman.
