Spoiler alert! This story discusses the final night of America’s Got Talent’s live quarterfinals, which aired September 8. The performance and results shows are available for next-day streaming with a Peacock subscription.

The semifinals are set, as America’s Got Talent Season 21 went long on the 2026 TV schedule this week for two hours of live performances, followed immediately by an hourlong results show. What better night, then, to welcome back Heidi Klum? The former longtime AGT judge sat in for Simon Cowell, and I think it’s safe to say she enjoyed her comeback — particularly one act that left her “gobsmacked.” But I love that she also took time to shout out Cowell as he continues to recover from back surgery.

Only one Golden Buzzer has been handed out per week in the AGT Season 21 live quarterfinals, and on the September 8 episode, it was Sofía Vergara who was in charge of it. Heidi Klum sounded a tad disappointed it wasn't her, and I have to admit I was, too, after last week’s guest judge Kenan Thompson got one. It worked out, though, because I think everyone was in agreement after watching Unitree’s dance with robots. Check out the performance below:

Wu Yufei, a 26-year-old engineer and dancer, said he wanted to bring traditional Chinese dance to an American audience, and he used the latest technology to do it. After watching the intricately choreographed routine that had humans and robots dancing and flipping together, Heidi Klum was blown away. Actually, as she put it:

Howie Mandel was just as worked up over the performance Unitree accomplished, saying:

Even more viral than AGT’s young rockstar Nene Royal? I guess time will tell, but we'll definitely see them again in the finals after earning Sofía Vergara's Golden Buzzer.

It's still unclear if Simon Cowell will be able to rejoin his colleagues by then. Howie Mandel reported that Cowell’s back surgery was a “success,” but no timetable has been given on his return.

He was still on everyone’s minds, though, and Heidi Klum had a message for Cowell as she made her own triumphant return, saying:

For nearly two decades now, Jason Blum has been behind some of the biggest horror movies of the 21st century, like Get Out, Split and the Paranormal Activity series. However, what is it like to have Blumhouse Productions behind your non-horror movie? The Uprising’s writer/director told us.

The Uprising is a period drama that tells the story of England’s 1381 Peasants’ Revolt and has connections to Robin Hood. It’s not your typical Blumhouse movie, and yet the production company was very much behind the film. So, I had to ask if the project ever was more of a horror movie. Per Paul Greengrass:

Paul Greengrass and Jason Blum collaborated on another movie last year called The Lost Bus, which was a thriller based on real events. As The Uprising filmmaker shared, horror was never part of the conversation between them. And if you look deeply into Blumhouse’s list of films over the years, there have been random instances of it making other non-horror films.

Did you know Blumhouse was behind the family film Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne Johnson? Another good example is 2014’s Whiplash from Damien Chazelle. The company was also behind Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman and is producing Richard Linklater’s adaptation of the musical Merrily We Roll Along. Greengrass also said this about his vision for The Uprising:

The Uprising follows Andrew Garfield as a ploughman who’s lost his wife and kids to the Black Death and helps start a revolt against the crown. When Garfield’s character, who is literally named Ploughman, witnesses unfair tax collection in town, he calls out the unjust treatment of the townspeople. He ultimately leads a march into London to demand that Richard II, who’s just 14 years old, be made king.

The movie also stars Jamie Bell, Tom Hollander, Thomasin McKenzie and Katherine Waterston. It’s definitely not a horror movie, and more of a historical epic and action drama, but one could definitely see why Jason Blum might be interested in producing the project that’s outside his typical wheelhouse. Paul Greengrass is famously behind the Bourne trilogy and other thrillers like Green Zone and Captain Phillips. The Uprising comes as Blumhouse has been having an unprecedented year in the realm of horror, particularly with Obsession and Backrooms’ back-to-back success earlier this year. You can check out The Uprising in theaters starting September 10.

It’s officially football season on the 2026 TV schedule, and if you’re a fan of Matthew McConaughey, you know that probably means we’ll see him at some games this fall. Apparently, it also means we’ll see him and his wife Camila promoting their tequila without pants on. I have to say, the comments about the pants-free game day post are hilarious.

While we’ve seen the McConaugheys go pants-free before, it is shocking every time it happens. That’s partially because the situations they find themselves pantless in are always unexpected. Case in point, they’re celebrating “tailgates and tan lines” with this pants-free post:

Now, this post is for their tequila brand, Patalones Tequila. On the company’s post, it captioned this cheeky image of the couple with “The Official Tequila of Tail…Gating.” This goes along with the whole vibe of this company that was co-founded by Matthew and Camila, as its bio on IG reads, “All Organic, No Junk 👖”. So, this game day picture is incredibly on-brand.

To further prove that point, on Pantalones’ website, the story of how Matthew and Camila met over tequila is complemented by a pants-free image of them that’s blurred on the bottom half. So, in a way, we should have seen them celebrating kickoff sans pants.

However, I was still surprised by it, and fans were too, as they hilariously commented things like:

• Are you not sweating in that jacket on gameday
• I’m kinda curious why it’s partially blocked out? 😂
• Interstellar's main character btw
• Suns out, buns out?
• No pantalones 😲
• What is my goat even doin

Now, I’d like to address a few of these comments. That first one is so funny, because while Matthew has nothing covering his bottom half, he’s wearing a leather blazer on his top half. And assuming this was taken in Texas (the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actor is a massive UT Austin fan), it had to have been hot.

I also got a real kick out of the “sun's out, buns out” comment and the one that reminded us all that Matthew McConaughey, the man wearing no pants in this image, is the star of the beloved Christopher Nolan flick, Interstellar.

That final comment asking what he’s doing is also funny, because while fair, this is by no means the first time we’ve seen these two ditch their pants. In 2024, they promoted Pantalones with a pants-free photoshoot involving croquet, and for no pants day, they picked up pickleball paddles and pulled their pants down, as their post stated.

So, if anything, this funny game day post is par for the course for this couple. However, these uploads are always funny, and the game day image further proves that point. Now, seeing as they've done so many sports-themed photoshoots without pants, I'm curious to see where they'll choose not to wear them next.

These days, there’s very few luxuries that Kim Kardashian can't afford. Fans are used to seeing her throwing million-dollar parties and traveling the globe to open new locations of her multi-billion-dollar SKIMS clothing stores. It wasn’t always like that, though. Kim opened up about how Khloé Kardashian stepped up during a tough time in Kim’s life — and how she paid her little sister back..

Kim Kardashian has been married three times — twice very publicly to Kanye West and Kris Humphries. But back before fame came knocking at the Kardashian-Jenner family’s door, Kim was married to record producer Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2004. On The Kardashians episode “Khloéwood,” Kim opened up about the insanely generous way her sister saved her, saying:

The Coke bottle bank — which can be seen in the background of one of Khloé’s childhood photos shown on the episode — was all the money the Kardashian sisters had at the time, and with Kim needing to get out of her ex-husband’s house, Khloé apparently didn’t think twice about cracking open the Coke bottle.

As Khloé Kardashian explained on the show:

Never underestimate the power of a childhood piggy bank. Khloé Kardashian had accumulated a small fortune (by their standards in those days, at least), and it turned out to be enough to get her sister where she needed to go. Kim Kardashian continued:

A photo was shown of the birthday gift Kim Kardashian gave to Khloé, and I’m not sure what kind of money the Coke bottle bank was originally contained, but the new one was filled nearly to the brim with $100 bills.

There’s no way when Khloé Kardashian first gave Kim that money that she’d have any expectation of someday getting it back, and that just proves that the Kardashian crew has always had each other’s backs.

I’ve been going to California’s Disney Parks my whole life, and I’m discovering new things about them all the time. To prove that point, I’ve been to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure a ton of times since it opened back in 2021, but I’m just learning about an adorable Ant-Man detail there.

An eagle-eyed fan just pointed out that Ant-Man actually has a “secret pretzel stash” between Pym Test Kitchen and the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. Take a look:

I can’t believe I never noticed this before, but I totally see how I could have overlooked it, too. What's fashioned to look like a weathered, heavy-duty switch of some sort isn't what it seems. There’s a little door with a lock on it, and inside there’s a bunch of hidden Disneyland pretzels. Next to the door is a sign that once said “NOTICE: Authorized Personnel Only”, but “Authorized Personnel” has been scratched out and new text has been added so it reads “NOTICE: Scott L. Only!”

It’s little details like this that make me love Disneyland so much! If I were a kid during a trip to Disney and I saw this, I would have been thinking about how Ant-Man was sneaking around with his pretzel stash my whole way home while hugging whatever Disney plushie I took with me that day. I bet it's been there all along, and I just didn't spot it. That's the magic of Disney though.

And Disney fans, before we know it, there are about to be a lot more details to uncover in Avengers Campus when its expansion opens up. There are two more rides currently in the works. One is called Stark Flight Lab, which will feature “new tech” that takes guests on a ride that goes from a track-based ride to an aerial experience. The other upcoming ride is called Avengers Infinity Defense, which will blend physical set environments with 3D screens.

During D23’s Disney Experiences presentation, there were also some exciting updates on Avengers Campus at Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland. Hong Kong’s Tomorrowland is getting a Marvel Studios-themed upgrade, and Shanghai will have an exciting Spider-Man coaster.

Outside of Disney’s California Adventure, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man is set to be in the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel boss Kevin Feige has teased that Scott Lang will be one of the “elder statesmen” of the Avengers, who helps deal with the newer recruits to the superhero team as they fight off Doctor Doom.

Anyways, I’m just so happy Ant-Man has become such a fixture of the MCU, and that bleeds into Disney Parks. Paul Rudd’s superhero has crept up on me and become one of the fan-favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and things like this DCA detail remind me of this.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, beloved astrophysicist, science communicator, and famous movie bubble-burster, has no problem pointing out when a film's science doesn’t stack up with reality. For example, he famously called out James Cameron for not using the right night sky in Titanic, which Cameron took seriously and replaced in later releases. Now Tyson has aimed his criticism at one of his biggest pet peeves in recent sci-fi movies, pointing to the 2026 calendar release Project Hail Mary as an example of avoiding this specific problem.

For years, one of DeGrasse Tyson’s biggest complaints about science fiction movies has been the fact that whenever a filmmaker designs a new alien lifeform, the same problem pops up over and over again: humanoid creatures. If it's an alien, why would the alien lifeform be nearly identical to a human lifeform? The Cosmos host explains in a new interview with GQ how this film avoids it:

That is such a great, yet nerdy, fact to get hung up on. I love everything about it. Famously, author Andy Weir, whose book became the 2026 page-to-screen adaptation, takes painstaking care to make sure his books, science fiction or not, are grounded in real-life science. And as Tyson points out, the universe is vast and varying. So if there is life somewhere else out in the cosmos, it doesn’t have to be, and most likely wouldn’t be, carbon-based or breathe oxygen.

Of course, most creatives don’t care about this sort of thing. However, The Martian writer does, hence the creation of the beloved crablike rock creator Rocky. As Tyson continues to point out:

Goes there Weir does, which is why he has been hailed as a type of writer who does his homework. When he wrote The Martian, which Ridley Scott adapted into a film, he tried to make the book as grounded in real science as possible. He took the same approach to Project Hail Mary, and his other novel Artemis, which is set to be turned into a film as well, helmed by Lord and Miller.​

It's not every day the Star Talk host and educator praises a film for getting it right. What’s even funnier is that the writer came out earlier this year and revealed he lives in constant fear of getting called out by Tyson. Well, now hopeful he can give a massive sigh of relief, because the longtime NOVA science Now host gives his stamp of approval.

When NCIS: New York was announced and it was revealed that LL Cool J would be back as Sam Hanna, it was hard not to wonder whether Scott Caan would be playing a new character or reprising his role as Danny Williams from Hawaii Five-0. Ironically, the universes haven’t just crossed over; Sam has worked with Danny before. However, that will not be happening in this new spinoff that's about to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule. Instead, Caan will be playing a brand new character, and he explained why.

Now, Caan returning to CBS to play Danny Williams wasn’t totally out of the question. According to LL Cool J, it was actually “considered.” That makes sense too, because in 2012, Hawaii Five-0 and NCIS: LA crossed over. Therefore, it’s not like Danny’s return would have been coming out of nowhere, there’s history. However, apparently, Caan wanted a “fresh, clean start,” according to the Sam actor. Explaining that point further to EW, Caan said:

That certainly makes sense. Caan was on Hawaii Five-0 for ten seasons. Between 2010 and 2020, he starred in 240 episodes of Five-0 (which you can stream with a Paramount+ subscription). While it’s fun to return to certain characters, I see why he wanted to start fresh in the NCIS universe – which, to be fair, he’d only spent one episode in as Danny Williams.

So, with that being said, allow me to introduce you to Nick Schaeffer. That’s Scott Caan’s character in NCIS: New York, and he’ll be Sam’s new partner in the city that never sleeps. Per the report, the two characters will hit it off right away when Sam finds himself in the Big Apple. Based on the trailer, it looks like they work well together but also bicker like brothers. Honestly, it sounds like a match made in heaven.

Despite not wanting to reprise his role as Danny in NCIS: New York, Caan was thrilled about the series overall. In fact, he gushed about the spinoff and explained why saying yes to it was a “no-brainer”:

Now, while Caan was all for a fresh start, LL Cool J is in the opposite boat. He played Sam Hanna in 323 episodes of NCIS: LA, which ended after 14 seasons in 2023, and he’s reprised his role in various episodes of NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i. He’ll be back leading an NCIS show with New York, and he explained that he keeps returning to play Sam because he’s “a really cool character.”

Overall, I think this mix of old and new will make this new series, which premieres on CBS on Tuesday, October 6 at 9 p.m. ET, even better. I love that LL Cool J is returning as a character we know and love. I’m also super excited to be introduced to a whole new team, including Scott Caan’s character. And overall, it looks like they’re all having a blast creating this new NCIS series.

However, I can’t help but wonder if the resemblance between Nick Schaeffer and Danny Williams will come up, because they do look a whole lot alike…

We’re just a few weeks away from the official start of Survivor’s Open Era. If that phrase sounds familiar, it’s probably because the show has been saying it loudly and aggressively. Longtime host and showrunner Jeff Probst has talked about it in interviews. The show has hyped it in the marketing materials. Everyone involved clearly wants fans to understand that things are about to change. We are officially entering The Open Era.

But what is The Open Era? Probst has said it’s a new phase of the game in which anything, including twists we’ve seen from every era in the past, is in play to potentially be used. Obviously that sounds great, but it’s also extremely open-ended. It’s gotten me thinking a lot too. Yes, I want change for the sake of change, but there are some specific changes I especially want to see. So, let’s go over them.

We Need More Two Tribe Seasons

Every season between 41 and 50 started with three tribes. Every season between 41 and 49 started with three tribes consisting of six castaways on each one. I’m not against seasons with three starting tribes. It typically makes the merge a lot more interesting and prevents the dreaded Pagonging, where one side with larger numbers votes out the other one at a time, but there is also one huge downside to three tribes: a lack of animosity.

Popular New Era player Sam Phalen from 47 recently said that his biggest issue with The New Era is the lack of an us-versus-them mentality. When there are three tribes, and you lose the immunity challenge, the losing tribe tends to blame themselves. When there are two tribes, the losing tribe often fixates on the other tribe that’s beating them. That can create a lot of animosity and bitterness, which makes the immunity challenges more interesting and can make the inevitable merge a lot more contentious.

With the loud exception of Survivor 46 and a few smaller exceptions here or there, The New Era has really missed that negativity and that edge. Some of that is because producers don’t want to cast any true villains anymore, but some of it is because of the format. Thankfully, we know Survivor 51 is at least starting with two tribes, so that should be a big step in the right direction. It should also, hopefully, mean we don't get a disaster tribe either, which is a recurring problem with the three tribe format.

More Physical Contact

Back in the day, a really healthy percentage of Survivor challenges involved the castaways, either in teams or as individuals, directly competing against each other. Nowadays, almost all of the challenges involve people competing parallel to each other. So, instead of trying to throw a shared ball into each other’s goals, nowadays they usually throw their own balls into their own goals. Instead of knocking each other into the water, they try to balance on top of the water for as long as they can.

No doubt the show pulled back on the physical intensity because of injuries, but Survivor is supposed to be a rough game about literally surviving in the wilderness. A little physical intensity is good, and if someone occasionally gets injured, that’s an unfortunate side effect of competing in a hard-nosed competition. Even if the show doesn’t want people wrestling and dragging each other to competing mats, there are still physical competitions they can do that aren’t likely to result in injuries. Think giving each other pillows and knocking opponents into the water. Think log rolling against each other.

Whether because of lawsuit risks or some sketchy prior incidents or simply the times a changin, Survivor has gotten really shy about castaways having any physical contact with each other. They’ve reportedly even made a rule against cuddling. I get it. I want everyone to feel safe, but at the same time, it’s Survivor and not summer camp. We need to also let adults be adults and get out there and compete.

More Themes

Because of budgetary and production issues, Survivor now exclusively films the show in Fiji. Arguing that it should pack up and go to exotic locations again is a losing battle, but if that’s not going to happen, we at least need to bring themes back. Once upon a time, you could distinguish a season of Survivor based on the location, imagery or casting philosophy. Yes, sometimes that meant Australian Outback, but sometimes it also meant Millennials vs Gen X or Blood vs Water or even something like pirate-themed challenges, graphics and imagery (Pearl Islands).

Right now, if someone says Survivor 45, I have to remember the actual players to distinguish it from the other seasons around it. Back in the day, however, we would get multi-season runs like Heroes vs Villains, Nicaragua, Redemption Island, South Pacific and One World. Each one of those seasons feels different, even apart from the players. We need that level of reinvention each season. We need some level of individuality in theme and structure to keep things fresh.

Give us stay-at-home parents versus working parents. Give us West Coast vs East Coast vs Midwest vs South. Give us a season with all siblings or a season with separated couples or a season of returning finalists who got zero votes.

To Sum Up

I’m ready for The Open Era. I’m glad Survivor is pushing back against the uniformity of The New Era and being aggressive about its desire to change. As a loyal viewer and a superfan, I’m open to anything that feels unique and original, but for the show to really maximize its potential and get back to the version we all loved so much, I think we really need to see the three suggestions above. Thankfully, we know we’re starting 51 with two tribes. Fingers crossed we get more physical contact and more aggressive theming moving forward, too.

South Park made headlines this past weekend, and not for any wild scenes from the show. Comedy Central’s long-running original series were among the 2026 Emmy nominees this year and won the award for Outstanding Animated Program. This marks yet another major accolade for the series, and it was probably a given that the team behind the small-screen hit would react. Ultimately, the show did respond by revealing a rebrand, which serves as a rebuke to recent comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump.

President Trump recently sparked conversations by suggesting on social media that the state of New Mexico be renamed “New America.” This more than a year after POTUS’ executive order to have the “Gulf of America” serve as the new U.S. federal distinction for the Gulf of Mexico. And, even more recently, Trump ordered that one of the Great Lakes, Lake Ontario, be renamed Lake America. With that, South Park seemed to nod to the latest name change by sharing a faux message from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker:

For context, the mention of Google and Apple alludes to the fact that the two entities reflected the Gulf of America change in their respective maps. The marketing team also took things a step further not only by changing its social handles accordingly but by adding in a photo of the satirical show’s logo with an “America” label covering the “Park.” Check out the Instagram post, which also includes information about the show’s upcoming 29th season:

South Park’s latest dig at the president comes after its last few seasons lampooned him in a variety of ways. A subplot of Season 28, for example, sees an animated version of Trump in a relationship with Satan, who’s pregnant with their child. Many of these Trump digs have since gone viral, and he’s not the only member of his administration who’s been satirized over the past year.

Vice President JD Vance was also parodied on the show and, upon seeing that, Vance quipped, “Well, I’ve finally made it.” Former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was displeased with how the series depicted her harming animals, deporting immigrants and using botox.

Historically, Parker, Stone and their colleagues haven’t shied away from spoofing political figures (as well as actors, singers and others). With that, the two EPs have spoken about being hated by both political parties at some point or another. Some wondered how their edgy brand of comedy would be received by Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison after he became the head of the newly formed company in 2025. However, Ellison has praised Stone and Parker, calling them “equal opportunity offenders.”

As for how Ellison feels about the show now taking shots at President Trump’s orders, that’s unclear. If anything, though, what this celebratory rebrand post seems to suggest is that POTUS’ political positions could be a point of emphasis within the show. Fans will ultimately have to wait and see if that proves to be the case, though, when South Park Season 29 premieres on Wednesday, September 16th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT amid the 2026 TV schedule. Episodes will also be available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription.

Adults is a brilliant comedy and maybe an even better rom-com. Well, okay, maybe not better as a romantic TV show than a comedy, because it’s one of the best comedies I have seen in a while. However, the romantic parts are just as captivating as the comedy.

It’s even better than some of the best LGBTQ+ romantic movies. Paul Baker (Jack Innanen) and Anton (Owen Thiele) are Adults’ "It" couple. However, I wasn’t confident about their future on the show. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised by the end of Season 2.

I Love That Anton And Paul Baker Ended Up Together, But Now I Am Worried About What Happens Next

I expected Anton and Paul Baker not to end up together at least until Season 4. The show even introduces a new guy, who I thought would become Anton’s Season 2 love interest, while Paul and Issa (Amita Rao) continued to figure out that they no longer worked as a couple.

I cheered when Anton and Issa ran to find Paul, but I can’t deny it made me a little worried. It’s very rare that a couple who start dating in Season 2 last for several seasons, if not until the series ends. However, it’s not impossible. We have seen sitcom couples unexpectedly get together and manage to stay together for the rest of the series (ex. Chandler (Matthew Perry) and Monica (Courteney Cox). That could become Anton and Paul’s future on Adults.

However, I suspect some conflict and a breakup or two before Adults reaches its conclusion.

Issa's Speech Really Emphasized The Importance Of These Characters' Friendships

In real life, a friend dating another friend’s ex, especially so soon after a breakup, can be seen as an extreme betrayal. Therefore, I wouldn’t support Paul and Anton getting together in real life. But because this is fiction, I cannot help but adore them as a couple. Nonetheless, I also never felt like Issa and Paul were this madly in love couple. Therefore, their breakup seemed inevitable.

However, I still think if Paul and Anton’s relationship hurt her, then her emotions and reactions would be completely valid. I was surprised that she gave this speech in support of it. She values her friendship with Anton more than any fleeting romance with Paul. It’s an amazing act of friendship and a gesture of true love. She lets Anton go after the man he loves without any guilt because she once dated him too.

It’s a beautiful moment and act of friendship that only works in fiction.

I Also Loved The Billie And Samir Twist. It Adds An Unexpected Complication That I Wasn't Expecting So Soon

Billie (Lucy Freyer) and Samir (Malik Elassal) always seemed like a couple that would eventually happen on Adults. However, I expected them to start developing feelings over the course of many seasons. I wasn't expecting it to happen as the Season 2 twist.

If Adults gets a Season 3 renewal, this already makes the friend dynamic very complicated. Almost the entire house would have slept together at some point. Samir and Billie will likely keep hooking up in secret, and that should make for a fun Season 3 plot.

Adults is still one of the best shows about Gen Z life, and Season 2 just proves it even more.

Chris Rock’s 2022 Oscar hosting gig turned into the most viral moment the Academy Awards has ever had when Will Smith slapped him on stage. It’s been over four years since the incident that led to Smith being banned by the Academy, and Rock was just asked about how he feels about it now.

The comedian is the writer/director behind one of A24’s upcoming movies, Misty Green. In between talking about his next movie stacked with an all-star cast, here’s what he said about The Oscars Slap:

When Chris Rock hosted the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022, Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith were seated near the Dolby Theater’s stage. =Rock made a joke about how he couldn’t “wait to see” her in G.I. Jane – in reference to her shaved head. Smith walked up to the stage and struck Rock before telling the comedian to "keep [his] wife's name out your fucking mouth". Pinkett Smith is bald as a result of a medical condition called alopecia.

In the new Variety interview, Rock was also asked if he’d been asked to host the Oscars since the incident. Here’s how he responded:

Rock has been a host a total of six times across three major Hollywood events. He hosted the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in 1997, 1999 and 2003 before first getting the Oscars gig back in 2005. Then, he hosted the BET awards back in 2014 before the 2022 Academy Awards where the slap happened.

Rock’s new movie Misty Green is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend. And, since it's on the 2026 movie schedule for Oscar season, it’s possible it could be part of the upcoming Academy Awards. Rock said this about possibly returning to the Oscars as the writer/director of Misty Green:

Misty Green is about a talented actress who gets a chance to revitalize her career. It stars Slow Horses’ Rosalind Eleazar in the titular role and features Chris Rock, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace and Anthony Anderson in the cast.

Chris Rock's new movie comes to theaters on October 9. And, 2027’s Academy Awards will take place on March 14 and be hosted by Conan O’Brien for the third consecutive year.

The book-to-screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan's Remain is still months away, but we finally have our first look at the movie -- part supernatural thriller, part love story -- and I'm pleased to spot numerous examples of my favorite Shyamalan staple.

No, I'm not talking about a twist, though this movie does seem primed to take us for a ride, I'm talking about doorways. Really, it's about how he frames his characters in certain scenes of his movies that I love in general, but I especially love the doorway shots. In that respect, Remain's trailer doesn't disappoint.

What Remain is About

If you're unaware, Remain is Shyamalan's adaptation of the 2025 novel he and Nicholas Sparks collaborated on. As you might expect from a collab between Sparks and Shyamalan, the story involves a romance, but also has a supernatural thriller element. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Tate, a man who just got out of a psychiatric facility after being treated for depression, as he takes up residence at his friends' summer home, where he meets Wren (Phoebe Dynevor). As the sparks begin to fly between the two, a mystery begins to unfold.

I've already been spoiled on the plot, since I've read the book (don't worry, no spoilers here!), but that isn't going to stop me from seeing the movie. I love M. Night Shyamalan as a director, and part of that has to do with his filming style. I especially like how he finds interesting ways to frame his characters. Even if the story doesn't hit the right notes, I still enjoy watching (and rewatching) for his visual style. When he finds a creative way to frame his characters, it's like he wants us to stop and really see the characters as he does in that moment. Doorway examples from past Shyamalan movies:

In the case of Remain, since the story's summer house setting is front and center, it seems like there are plenty of doorways to use for the perfect character shot, and I'm into it. Maybe this is a funny thing for me to focus on, but as I said, I know more or less what's coming in the story, so think I'm especially excited just to get to sit for another Shyamalan movie and see the story through his visual style.

We also get the shots near the end of the two characters peering at one another through what appears to be the model of a building.

Beyond knowing that we'll be seeing some Shyamalan doorway shots in the movie, I'm also excited that he's delving more directly into romance with this story. Shyamalan is known for twisty thrillers, but I've always liked the way he incorporates love into a lot of his films, whether it's romantic love, platonic, or familial, love is often a driving force of some of his best stories.

In the case of Remain, it seems to be much more of a focus, which is where Sparks shines. It should be interesting to see what happens when the man behind movies like Signs and The Sixth Sense joins forces with the writer of The Notebook and other beloved romantic dramas.

Remain was originally supposed to hit theaters this October, however the release date has since been moved to February 5, 2027, just in time for February 2027, just in time for Valentine's Day. You can pick up a copy of the book at Amazon.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson made headlines over two years ago when it was announced that he was producing a docuseries centered on Diddy. That show is Sean Combs: The Reckoning, and it became available for Netflix subscription holders in December 2025. Since then, the Alexandria Stapleton-helmed doc has earned critical acclaim, and Jackson has since hyped it up. The show was also among this year’s 2026 Emmy nominees, and it ended up snagging an award. Jackson has since dropped a response that’s very on brand.

The Reckoning managed to scoop up three Emmy nominations – Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program – and won for editing. Fiddy later took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement and share a screenshot from the moment the doc won. And, in true fashion, the rapper also referenced his haters:

Something that should be mentioned is that the “Window Shopper” performer isn’t actually one of the recipients of the award. Those credited for it are Charles Divak, Evan Wise, Jack Gravina, Benji Kast, Adam Goldstein, Jonathan Miller and Jeremy Siefer for the episode “Blink Again.” Still, Jackson’s message suggests he’s not taking any kind of slander following this achievement.

Anyone who follows Jackson on social media likely knows he’s not one to mince words on a given subject, and that’s especially been true when it comes to anything involving DIddy. Throughout Combs’ sex-trafficking trial in 2025, 50 Cent trolled him and his legal team and his wild sentiments continued when the Sean John founder reportedly sought a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump. Considering Jackson’s apparent feelings about Combs, many viewed the documentary as another form of trolling.

Yet 50 Cent has denied the notion that he only made the three-part documentary due to his beef with Combs. The Power alum said he wanted to make the series as a way of holding Combs accountable for his reported actions. For the doc, Jackson, Stapleton and their collaborators interviewed Aubrey O’Day, Mark Curry, Joi Dickerson-Neal and others, who spoke about their personal experiences with the “Bad Boy for Life” performer. And, while the creative team received praise from critics, the doc’s main subject wasn’t pleased.

Diddy blasted the documentary’s creative team as well as Netflix, arguing that it was a “hit piece” with inaccurate claims. The currently incarcerated ex-mogul also alleged that for the doc, the producers used footage that was stolen from him. Fiddy, Stapleton and co. have denied that claim, though they haven’t revealed how they acquired it. Combs’ mother, Janice, also rebuked the doc and denied claims made by Kirk Burrowes and Tim Patterson (two of her son’s childhood friends) that she was an abusive parent.

Regardless of how the Combs family feels about The Reckoning, it can now be argued that this Emmy win further cements its position within the pop culture lexicon. Whether Sean or Janice decide to take any kind of direct legal action against 50 Cent over the documentary remains to be seen. But, for right now, it seems Fiddy is just soaking in the glory as only he can.

The Wizarding World has entertained fans for generations, thanks to J.K. Rowling's book as well as the Harry Potter movies, video games, stage plays, and theme parks. The franchise will expand again thanks to the upcoming Harry Potter TV show, which has been teased to be a more faithful book to screen adaptation. And the show's executive producer spoke about one thing that was missing from the films that's going to be included in the show.

The Potter films (which are streaming with a HBO Max subscription) had to cut out plenty of content from the books in order to be short enough to be the length of a movie. While appearing on the official Harry Potter podcast's YouTube, David Heyman (who produced all of the movies) spoke about one character he's glad will make into live-action for the show. In his words:

Do you hear that? It's hardcore Potter fans cheering for joy like they just won a Quidditch match. For years fans wondered why Peeves wasn't in the Harry Potter movies, despite regularly appearing in the source material. And director Chris Columbus has lamented about the Hogwarts ghost ultimately being cut from the original 2001 movie... as well as its sequels. But that'll change with the TV version, which has far more time to include additional content and characters from Rowling's beloved books.

As Heyman mentioned, Peeve was originally going to be in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, with late actor Rik Mayall (Drop Dead Fred) cast to bring him to life. He went on to speak about why the beloved ghost was ultimately dropped, offering:

What a bummer. It sounds like we got close to seeing Peeves in live-action, but he simply wasn't working for the theatrical cut of the first Harry Potter movie. There was a ton of pressure for Chris Columbus and company to stick the landing if the studio was going to get the chance to adapt the following six movies. As we all know, that's exactly what ended up happening.

On the podcast, David Heyman spoke more about how different it's been going from movies to TV for the upcoming Harry Potter series. In his words:

The pressure is once again on ahead of the Harry Potter show's premiere this coming December. There's been some backlash surrounding the series, with some fans questioning how necessary it was and other boycotting thanks to J.K. Rowling's controversial comments about transgender people. We'll just have to wait and see how the show is ultimately received when its released.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is currently set to arrive on HBO on December 25th as part of the 2026 TV schedule. One thing is clear: Peeves will be along for the party this time around.

The Star Wars movies continue to be a vital part of the pop culture landscape, with generations growing up on the galaxy far, far away. While fans are looking forward to upcoming Star Wars movies and shows, many are also looking back to the previous trilogies and their stars. Luckily we just got a sweet update about actor Jake Lloyd, who famously played Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace. And he may have turned a corner in his mental health journey.

Lloyd has been open about his mental heath struggles, specifically related to issues with his schizophrenia diagnosis. While his mother said this would have happened even if he didn't have his Star Wars role (which is streaming with a Disney+ subscription), the fandom is invested regardless. Over on writer Clayton Sandell's Instagram, he posted an update about the former child actor, offering:

Jake Lloyd's schizophrenia diagnosis understandably provided some major struggles for both him and his family. Star Wars fans in particular have been wishing him well, despite the many years that have passed since he played Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace. And it looks like the 37 year-old former actor is doing much better thanks to a new treatment plan.

In the same post, Sandell went on to share more about the Jingle All The Way star's mental health journey. He shared that there's more exciting news coming soon, offering:

Talk about a heartening message. After hearing about Lloyd's struggles, it's comforting to know that he's seemingly found a treatment program that is helping him deal with the challenges of schizophrenia. Jake Lloyd was the subject of backlash after The Phantom Menace hit theaters back in 1999, leading to figures like Ron Howard defending him to journalists. Since then fans have soften to the prequel trilogy, while following along with the former actor's health issues. Hopefully that "more to come" happens sooner rather than later.

The Star Wars franchise is currently streaming in its entirety over on Disney+. The space opera will return to the big screen with Starfighter on May 28, 2027. Since it not on the 2026 movie release list, folks will have to be patient while waiting.

Dancing With the Stars Season 35 is coming soon to the 2026 TV schedule, and the cast is making waves. Beloved actress Julia Stiles will be competing in the ballroom with pro partner Ezra Sosa, and the two are already becoming favorites with fans. It’s not all positive popularity, though, as Juilliard shaded the actress for one little thing, and now she’s setting the record straight.

When it comes to DWTS, fans are divided in terms of whether celebrities with dance experience should be allowed to compete. Following the cast announcement last week, some people were pointing out that Stiles went to the prestigious Juilliard School for dance. However, what a lot of people haven’t been getting is that it was merely a reference to her classic 2001 film Save the Last Dance. In fact, Juilliard even confirmed that Stiles did not actually attend the performing arts conservatory on Instagram.

Stiles herself is setting the record straight now. She and Sosa spoke to E! News about people thinking that she actually went to Juilliard. They mentioned that Juilliard commented, with Sosa admitting it was a bit shady. Stiles confirmed that she did not attend the prestigeous university. And what makes the whole situation even better is that the school wasn’t even really on her mind back then:

I’m sure it’s both amusing and annoying for Stiles to have people so divided on this topic when it all stems from a movie she did 25 years ago. Of course, her dance moves have been a topic before, and it’s not just people truly thinking she went to Juilliard. The Internet has been shading Stiles’ dance moves from Save the Last Dance, but luckily her co-star Kerry Washington came to her defense last year. The Scandal star also praised the film’s choreographer Fatima Robinson, who has worked with high-profile artists such as Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, and the Backstreet Boys.

Even though Stiles doesn’t have actual Juilliard training, it wouldn’t be surprising if she managed to make it far in the competition. She and Sosa are already capturing fans’ hearts with their TikToks, and I cannot wait to see what they have cooking up this season. I also wouldn’t be surprised if one or two of their dances were to take from Stiles’ Save the Last Dance character, Sara Johnson.

Fans will just have to see how the two do when DWTS returns. The Season 35 premiere of Dancing With the Stars airs on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and with a Disney+ subscription. The competition is as stiff as ever this season, and there is no telling who will be taking home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

It's the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, and while there was much to celebrate, it wouldn't be complete without an update on the upcoming video game adaptation on the way. To mark the occasion, Nintendo formally announced the highly anticipated movie's official title. However, I'm tempted to think the company was struggling with how it wanted to share that news, as the confirmation is surprisingly hilarious.

There hasn't been a ton of information about The Legend of Zelda movie, so I was originally thrilled to hear there would be an update. Then I read the three-line announcement that was sent out, and I couldn't help but bust out laughing:

Yep, that's it! The Legend of Zelda movie, which is what fans have generally been referring it to since it was first announced, will be called The Legend of Zelda. I do have to point out the release date was also given, but did we really need an official announcement for that name?

To be honest, I guess I'm a bit grateful. It's been so irksome to me that The Super Mario Bros. Movie franchise has the word "movie" at the end of every title, as if audiences don't know what they're about to see. Of course, that's likely done to help distinguish it from the terrible live-action Super Mario movie, though I don't think many would mistake the two.

Zelda's title confirmation arrives fresh off reports that Samara Weaving has been cast as the Goddess Hylia. As of this writing, we've still yet to get a trailer or any kind of formal look at the film. However, there has been leaked set footage traveling the internet for some time.

With so many questions still surrounding The Legend of Zelda, it's hard to believe it's a movie that's coming out in a little over half a year. We know the director, Wes Ball, is a fan and which actors will be playing Link and some other key roles, in addition to the title of the movie. It's not even entirely clear at this stage whether Link will speak or not, which sounds surprising, but that is a big part of the games.

As silly as the latest announcement is, it does give me some mild concern that we're still so in the dark about many of the big details surrounding this movie. It doesn't feel like the level of hype warranted for one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, or a movie that can live up to the hype of an animated blockbuster that raked in a billion dollars. Not that I believe anyone is thinking this movie will pull in the same, but the vibe I get now is that the movie is actively being hidden from us.

Here's hoping for more substantial announcements in the near future, as The Legend of Zelda is on track to release on April 30th. I remain curious as to whether this movie will adapt the story of one of the games, or we'll be getting something entirely different.

60 Minutes returns to the 2026 TV schedule for its 59th season, and more than a few questions are still swirling around the storied news program. The show has undergone a series of changes both in front of and behind the camera over the past several months. At the same time, CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss has also been accused of interfering with the editorial decisions made for the series. Apparently, one of the show’s seasoned hosts has since spoken to Weiss about that, and he opened up about her response.

Amid the various staffing changes that have unfolded at 60 Minutes throughout this summer, Bill Whitaker will still be a correspondent this coming season. However, Whitaker also seems to be aware of the headlines that have been circulating about 60 as of late. The veteran newsman took part in an interview earlier this week and, as noted by The New York Times, he confirmed that he’d met with Weiss about her editorial decisions. Per Whitaker, Weiss had a different take on the supposed “interference” and made a request of him:

The past several months have also seen Weiss be accused of expressing political partiality in regard to news coverage. One notable editorial incident occurred near the end of 2025, at which point Weiss pulled a 60 story at the last minute. That news piece centered on Terrorism Confinement Center, a maximum security prison in El Salvador holding Venezuelan migrants deported from the U.S. At the time, Weiss argued that the story was not ready for air and that additional reporting was necessary.

Multiple ex-60 Minutes employees have also made claims about editorial interference and political-based favoritism. Among the people to make those allegations were correspondents Cecilia Vega and Scott Pelley, with the latter even accusing Weiss of “murdering” the news magazine show. Retired correspondent Steve Kroft called out alleged “journalistic interference” when Pelley, Vega and several of their colleagues were fired. Additionally, others criticized Weiss, who founded the Internet-based media brand The Free Press, for her leadership skills and questioned whether she was qualified to run a broadcast news outlet.

Yet there are those who’ve shown support for Bari Weiss since she was named to her post in October 2025. CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil said he hadn’t personally noticed news bias and said he hadn’t run into any problems while working with Weiss. Newly hired broadcaster Trevor Phillips also praised Weiss and said she’s “one of those people who will either change the world or crash and burn.” Most recently, Norah O’Donnell also defended Weiss amid her return to CBS Mornings.

As far as everything goes with 60 Minutes, both Weiss and executive producer Nick Bilton are reportedly aiming to move the show forward in a positive direction. Bill Whitaker – as well as fellow returning correspondents Lesley Stahl and Jon Wertheim – have reaffirmed their commitment to the show. Whether Whitaker or anyone else will have to end up calling out Weiss for any editorial faux pas this coming season remains to be seen.

60 Minutes Season 59 premieres on Sunday, September 13 on CBS, and episodes can subsequently be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription.

It’s been a little over two years since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got divorced. Over that time, we’ve heard many updates about how they’re doing, where their relationship stands, and how they’re moving on from that chapter of their lives. Now, an insider has revealed a surprising moment JLo had with her dad that allegedly helped her move on.

This moment is all tied to the movie I’m Still Here, which is about a woman who spends years trying to find out what happened to her husband, who was taken by Brazil’s military. JLo watched the Brazilian film with her father, David Lopez, and it changed her perspective on things. Elaborating on this experience and its connection to Ben Affleck specifically, an insider alleged to Radar Online:

Earlier this year, Lopez did speak about how important watching I’m Still Here was to her. While speaking with her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein on his Films to be Buried With podcast, she explained that she watched the film that was nominated for Best Picture in 2025 with her parents while she was sick. At the time, she was also “going through a divorce” and “thinking a lot about [her] kids.” She recalled how the film shows a woman working for years to find her husband, and as she was watching it, and JLo got emotional because she was with her father and "calculating all of the things with [her] kids" and her dad.

After the movie, Lopez was crying, and when her dad noticed, he came over to her and said, “I love you, I always loved you.” The singer said this experience “changed her life.” Here’s why:

Now, how does this realization relate to Ben Affleck? Well, Lopez’s comments imply that watching this film and realizing the love she had for her family helped her move forward, and specifically move on from the chapter of her life she’d just been in. I’m Still Here (which you can now stream with a Netflix subscription) came out toward the end of 2024. At that point, it had only been about six months since Lopez and Affleck’s divorce was announced.

Of course, we cannot confirm how watching this film directly impacted Lopez’s relationship with her ex-husband. However, the insider claimed that watching I’m Still Here helped shift the actress’s perspective on her relationship with the Good Will Hunting star.

In the years since their divorce, it seems like the former couple has continued to support each other. Earlier this year, it was reported that the “On the Floor” singer allegedly still seeks out career advice from her ex, and in 2025, it was alleged that Affleck is still close with Lopez’s kids.

So, all around, while the divorce was hard, it seems like they’re doing just fine. It also sounds like I’m Still Here really helped Jennifer Lopez reckon with her life, this divorce and how she wanted to go through the next chapter.

If you’ve been watching Reacher since it began streaming in 2022, now in the middle of its fourth season on the 2026 TV schedule, you know Alan Ritchson's title character is a man of few words and even fewer personal belongings. As a matter of fact, as the morally pure hero travels, he carries nothing but a toothbrush, and we now know why thanks to the author behind the popular franchise. ​

In a recent interview with Men’s Journal, Lee Child, the author of the Jack Reacher book series, was asked what is so appealing about a hero unburdened by modernity and the societal expectations placed on men. According to the author:

There you have it. Jack doesn’t care about the next big tech gadget or fancy cars or the coolest new shoes. However, the man takes dental hygiene very seriously; hence, he travels with nothing but his trusty toothbrush.

The stripped-down life the character leads almost feels like a philosophy, which is why Child thought the books would be received as a sort of male fantasy. Living with no attachments and moving from town to town like you’re David Banner of the 1970s Hulk Television series, helping those in need, has a sort of appeal. But it's a bit more difficult than it sounds. The author added:

I tried moving back to a flip phone for a while, until I realized it was nearly impossible to live without a smartphone. How else does someone track their finances these days without the internet at their fingertips? Drive to the nearest bank like some Luddite? I think not. Reacher may be able to travel with nothing but a toothbrush, but I need at least a carry-on.

The first Reacher novel, Killing Floor, was released in 1997, sparking a beloved series that has run for more than 30 entries. Two page-to-screen adaptations starring Tom Cruise, if you ask any fan of the franchise, weren’t very accurate to the books. Still, after a few years to cool off, Amazon stepped in and produced the highly rated streaming series starring Alan Ritchson.

Production on the fifth season is already underway, and the lead star has been sharing BTS content while filming, showing off the bruises and bloodbath he’s endured throughout production. He's even resorted to hilariously sharing proof-of-life videos on social media.

What a week it's been in Big Brother Season 28, as Barrett Pfeiffer finally got his wish of putting up the Icons when he won Head of Household. The veto results have cemented the fact that one Icon will head to the jury house on Thursday. And, as this war wages on, it may benefit Yash Patel the most.

Those watching Big Brother online over the holiday weekend heard about Yash's immediate plans for the in-game, and I think it's a game-winning strategy. Yash wants to win BB, and I think he's on the right path after vocalizing his plan for the next couple of weeks.

Yash Is Stepping Back And Letting The Icons And Other Newbies Duke It Out

The Icons are using Yash's bribe against him and, while he's lied to Barrett, Melody Morris and Drew Campbell about not being able to put all three Icons up, he's using it to his advantage. Yash explained to Taylor, who knew the truth of the deal, that he planned to sit back and let the Newbies and Icons fight, because it would only benefit him until the Icons were gone.

While it's true he could end up on the block at any time, Yash arguably has more protection these next couple of weeks than he would otherwise. The remaining Icons know he can't put them on the block if he wins HOH, so targeting him does not benefit their game until he does. Once he wins, however, they'll immediately campaign against him and try to get in with the remaining newbies to get him out.

Yash remains a big target in the house, but the Newbies have bigger fish to fry. Getting out who remains over Dee, Devens, and Angela will be the priority until at least next week, depending on how it goes. Truthfully, it would benefit Yash if Angela went home this week, though that feels unlikely.

Why Yash Could Totally Win Big Brother

With the BB Blockbuster still in play, and the remaining Houseguest count dwindling, the game only benefits Yash. Winning out is usually the toughest road for a Houseguest but, assuming he can last another week or two without a target on his back, it gets a lot easier.

In an ideal circumstance, an Icon wins this week, and then one of the two remaining wins the HOH. Drew and Barrett feel like obvious targets for the Icons after this week, but I guess I shouldn't deem that a certainty, considering how random the targets have been any time Dee Valladares wins HOH.

As always, I think winning Big Brother requires a bit of luck, and Yash will need to ensure there isn't a chance for him to get backdoored in the final month of the game. The double-eviction is going to be a big moment for him, as it's the easiest way to send a Houseguest packing.

Can Yash pull it off and win Big Brother? I would love to see it happen, but there are other worthy winners still in the game. The finale is set for Thursday, October 1st, but there's still a lot of game to play, so keep an eye out for every update!

Though it's been half a decade since our last 007, still waiting on the casting of our next Bond, the plot thickens as Bond 26's writer gets very candid after being asked about casting rumors that have been making the rounds.

It was announced back in February 2025 that the long-running espionage franchise was undergoing major changes as the Broccoli family stepped away and relinquished their longtime hold on the series. Soon after, Amazon-MGM Studios announced it had hired Dune director Denis Villeneuve to direct, with Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight writing the script. In a recent BBC Radio interview, Knight was asked whether, as reported yesterday by Gary Oldman, the next Bond had been picked; he didn't say no. He responded:

That’s definitely not a no. Sure, it's not a yes either. Still, the British screenwriter and director could have easily shut down any confusion on whether or not Oldman’s claims had any merit; instead, he gave a roundabout and sort of cagey response.

And when pressed, if you ask me, he gave an even more telling answer. Asked whether the casting was a good choice, he responded:

Okay, Knight's response has me thinking: Yeah, some young actor probably already got the call and was asked to suit up. I'm betting everything that the screenwriter knows exactly who it is.

In case you missed the coverage, Oldman was interviewed on Global TV’s The Morning Show, and he made it seem like he was pretty certain the next 007 had already been selected and went even further to highlight how much he’s pulling for his Slow Horses co-star, Jack Lowden, to be the next 00 agent. Interestingly, Nina Gold is the casting director for James Bond 26, and she also oversaw casting on Slow Horses. Of course, it's important to remember that nothing has been confirmed about Lowden taking over the role, so don’t expect him to be ordering any vodka martinis, shaken or stirred, just yet.

There have been so many different rumors about which young actors were in the running for Bond ever since Daniel Craig stepped away that I take just about all of them with a massive pinch of salt. Over the last five years, the internet has run wild with speculation about everyone from Aaron Taylor-Johnson being high on the hopeful list to Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, Jacob Elordi, Theo James and more. Producer Amy Pascal announced a casting timeline for Bond 26, saying that by the end of 2026, we might finally learn who the next young star will be to sit behind the wheel of an Aston Martin.

But it does seem as though every other day there is another story making the rounds about a potential casting announcement. Until it's front-page news and announced by MGM/Amazon themselves, I won’t consider anything official. But admittedly, as a lifelong fan of the beloved spy series, it's hard not to get excited by Oldman, and now Knight's response to the lingering question of who the next Bond will be.

Unfortunately, that question still hasn’t been answered, but something tells me we will have our answers before the end of the 2026 movie calendar. Until then, time to revisit all the Bond movies in order, as they’re available to rent or purchase with an Apple TV subscription or Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Go ahead. Call me a hater. I know you want to. But I don’t care. I’m still not feeling Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

I know I’ve had plenty of time to warm up to the idea, as we’ve known since as far back as 2024 that Downey would play the character. In all that time, I’m STILL not convinced that RDJ is the best choice for Doctor Doom, and I know I’m not alone.

However, this isn’t about other people. It’s about me, and why I still don’t think Robert Downey Jr. should be the ruler of Latveria. Here’s why.

The Most Recent Trailer Didn't Do Anything To Change My Mind

Honestly, I was hoping to marvel (pun not intended) at a trailer featuring Doctor Doom. As someone who wasn’t blown away by the X-Men trailer, I was really banking on Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doom to be what finally got me excited for this film. Then I saw the trailer, and let me tell you: I was NOT marveled.

In fact, underwhelmed might be a better word. I think it’s the voice, as it does nothing for me. Sure, I’m glad that we haven’t seen Robert Downey Jr.’s face yet, as that would probably completely ruin it for me, but Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom just doesn’t feel intimidating to me, which is a major letdown.

I’m the kind of person who’s never seen a Fantastic Four movie that he didn’t like. And while First Steps is my favorite FF film, I greatly enjoyed the Chris Evans Fantastic Four movies, and even liked the Michael B. Jordan one…for the most part. The biggest weakness out of those aforementioned films was definitely Doctor Doom, as neither of those movies got the character right. I was hoping this trailer would change all of that for me, but it didn’t, and I’m kind of putting that squarely on RDJ's shoulders. There’s another reason why I’m not convinced that he’s the best choice.

I Don't Want Doctor Doom To Feel Connected To The Old MCU

I’ve been off the MCU hype train for a LONG time now, and a lot of that is because I don’t feel like the MCU has been adventurous enough lately. Sure, I’m the only person on the planet who loved Eternals - mostly because it was so adventurous - but I feel like the MCU has been going back to the tried-and-true well that is 2012's The Avengers a bit too much lately, and bringing back RDJ doesn't help.

I mean, bringing back Chris Evans as Cap seemed desperate enough, but bringing back Robert Downey Jr. still feels like we haven't gotten past 2008, when RDJ kickstarted the MCU with Iron Man, and that's the last thing I want.

I'm still kind of bummed that the MCU abandoned the Kang storyline, but if they were going to pivot to Doctor Doom, they should have AT LEAST started fresh. RDJ doesn't feel that way, though. It feels like we're languishing in the past. That said, maybe I just feel this way because I wanted another pick for Doctor Doom…

Maybe It's Just That I Still Wish We Got Mads Mikkelsen As Doctor Doom Instead

Okay, I'll be frank with you. Even before we were made aware that Doctor Doom was coming to the MCU, I had already dreamcasted Mads Mikkelsen in the role.

This isn't just a ME thing either, as Mikkelsen himself said he would like to play the character. He would literally be perfect for the role. I mentioned before how I don't find RDJ intimidating, but I find Mikkelsen terrifying in pretty much anything he does, so I could only imagine what he would be like as Doctor Doom.

So, perhaps I'm just unfairly comparing RDJ to Mads Mikkelsen, but unless the former blows me away as Heath Ledger did in The Dark Knight, I'll likely always believe that RDJ just wasn't the best choice for what is arguably Marvel's greatest antagonist.

Musk, a documentary about billionaire Elon Musk and his influence on politics, is set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 8 before hitting the 2026 movie calendar next month. Academy Award winner Alex Gibney’s film is nearly four hours long and will undoubtedly dive into the different aspects of Musk’s life. That includes the perspective of at least one of the mothers of Elon Musk’s children, who alleges she was offered $40 million to stay quiet.

Elon Musk has fathered 14 children — some of whom have unusual names, like X Æ A-Xii — with four different women. One of those mothers, Ashley St. Clair, spoke out ahead of Musk’s festival premiere and said she was offered money to not participate in the documentary. St. Clair said, per Deadline:

She went on to say that while Elon Musk’s relationships, in general, are complicated, his most complicated relationship is with the truth. Ashley St. Clair said despite the large amount of money she was allegedly offered, she declined, choosing to participate in Alex Gibney’s documentary anyway. Why? She explained:

This isn’t the first time Ashley St. Clair has said she's been offered millions for her silence. Following the birth of her and Elon Musk's son Romulus, the Wall Street Journal reported that St. Clair was reportedly offered $15 million for “a home and living expenses” and then $100,000 a month until Romulus turned 21, allegedly on the condition that her son be kept a secret.

The mother allegedly turned down that deal as well, due to alleged stipulations including Elon Musk’s name be left off the birth certificate, no support being guaranteed if their son got sick, and no trust fund or life insurance payment if Musk died before Romulus turned 21.

Ashley St. Clair also would have been prohibited from speaking in retaliation or in a disparaging way about the richest person on the planet if she signed the documents reportedly given to her by Jared Birchall, who she called Musk’s “fixer.”

Elon Musk did not participate in Alex Gibney’s film, calling it a “hit piece” on X (Twitter) — which prompted the filmmaker to respond: “How would you know?” You can see the teaser trailer for Musk below:

In addition to Ashley St. Clair’s apparent participation in the documentary, Elon Musk’s first ex-wife, Justine Musk, will reportedly also be featured. We’ll undoubtedly hear more about the film following its festival premiere, and then we can all catch it when Musk hits theaters on Friday, October 16.

Actor Zac Efron has been a Hollywood heartthrob since becoming a household name back with the High School Musical movies (which are streaming with a Disney+ subscription). He grew up before audience's eyes in the years that have followed, all while getting super ripped in the process. Efron's personal trainer recently posted a photo of them together, and holy biceps.

Zac Efron got next level ripped for the Baywatch movie, basically becoming nothing but pure muscle. While he doesn't recommend his regimen in retrospect, he's remained super fit. His trainer Brigham Buhler posted a photo on his Instagram, and even in a T-shirt you can tell how huge the Hairspray actor's biceps are. Check it out below:

Buhler posted this image to his 133k followers on Instagram, and the comments section is filled with folks talking about how yoked Zac Efron looks. The photo comes after the two took a pilates class together, showing just one of the ways the Greatest Showman actor stays fit these days. Clearly whatever system he has is working.

While he's not committed to being in Baywatch shape anymore, clearly Efron is still woking hard on maintaining his signature jacked physique. For instance, he put on a ton of muscle for The Iron Claw, a biopic where the 38 year-old actor was tasked with playing professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich.

Even though Efron is wearing a t-shirt in the above, you can still see how giant the actors's biceps are looking. I have to assume that he's keeping in shape for the various movie and TV projects that he has coming down the line. That (hopefully) includes the reboot of Three Men and a Baby, which was announced years ago.

Aside from his proper acting gigs, lately the High School Musical icon is also known for his documentary series Down to Earth with Zac Efron, which is streaming with a Netflix subscription. The show's first season even earned Efron an Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Program Host. And yes, he looked plenty ripped throughout the show's two seasons on the streaming service.

Fans have been following Efron's career and fitness journey for two decades now, and updates like this are why he continues to be a sex symbol in the years since he burst on the scene as Troy Bolton.

Given how insane his body is, some fans want to see him play a superhero role in either the DCU or MCU. One popular choice was for Efron to play Nightwing, but there's no indication that this is actually being considered by the studio.

While Efron has a number of projects coming down the line, it's unclear if they'll arrive on the 2026 movie release list or beyond. Either way, he'll likely be looking swole AF when he appears.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve seen a bunch of big names sit behind the desk on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The ABC late night series drew some backlash after stars like Tiffany Haddish and Jelly Roll made political jokes, though this was in keeping with Kimmel’s own tone. It’s the latter, though, who is still dealing with pushback as the late night host prepares to sit behind his own desk once more.

Jimmy Kimmel Is Back On Live! This Week

Jimmy Kimmel is back on the air Tuesday, September 8th. Normally a host’s break and return to the air isn’t a huge story, but this year is a different sort of year. First, Kimmel’s been off ABC since June 18th. He's back after months of tumult that saw him get suspended and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert canceled. He's also been off the air for nearly three months. Not quite, but nearly. That’s a long time.

Secondly, while sometimes shows go into reruns while a host takes a summer break, this year ABC (mostly) tried something different. A slew of guest hosts stepped in and brought audiences new interview content over the last few months. Rosie O’Donnell guest hosted, despite formerly butting heads with Kimmel. Tiffany Haddish was on. So was Colman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz, and finally, Jelly Roll.

The Latest In The Jelly Roll Kimmel Saga

Up until a couple of weeks ago, the “piping hot tea” surrounding Jelly Roll’s divorce is what was garnering the most headlines for the singer. Well, if he wanted people to be distracted from his celebrity divorce, he achieved it.When the latter hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live, he took a few cracks at President Donald Trump.

During several of Jelly Roll’s episodes, he made some quips about President Trump, including a few weight-related jokes. For example, one joke mentioned the singer had “lost an entire Donald Trump” before he later quipped, “Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important.” Jokes like these made headlines, and later monologues from the singer also addressed these headlines he’d been seeing online.

To note, this wasn’t the first time this has happened during Kimmel’s absence. Tiffany Haddish also threw out a joke about the current administration, and the White House responded. However, Jelly Roll has always prided himself on straddling the middle when it comes to politics, and some individuals have taken this as shots fired.

This week, a Blue Lives Matter post aggressively disinvited Jelly Roll to an upcoming event.

In a lengthy post on, X the event organizer said he is a Christian father who also, like Jelly Roll, used to be overweight, and knows how it “sucks to be the brunt of people’s jokes.” Because of this, the poster said he was not pleased with the way Jelly Roll handled his late night tenure, and made fat jokes involving the President of the United States.

It’s unclear if Jelly Roll would have actually even attended this event, but for his part, he’d actually addressed why he took that bent on late night more than a week ago on the air. Then, on August 28th, he also wrote:

Jelly Roll’s tenure is done now, and Kimmel will be back tonight with Andrew Garfield and Joey King (hopefully method dressing for Practical Magic 2!) as guests. Regardless, the true ABC late night host has been making jokes similar to these for months now, and even took some major Trump digs when the Knicks won just a few days before his hiatus. We’ll have to wait and see if the administration is in the line of fire tonight, but if you’re putting money down, I don’t think you’d be making a bad bet.

Folks who have been watching the Marvel movies in order know what a giant franchise it is. There are constantly new projects being released in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription, and boss/producer Kevin Feige is the man behind it all. But how much does he actually interfere with individual projects? Spider-Man: Brand New Day's director recently weighed in.

After directing Shang-Chi, filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton worked on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has beat Endgame's box office haul. In an interview with Fresh Air, Cretton got real about how Feige helps to work on the cinematic universe, saying:

This makes a ton of sense. It sounds like, while Feige allows directors to take the reigns with upcoming Marvel movies, he's there to help make the shared universe stays connected in logical and exciting ways. That includes examining new twists, and deciding how/when beloved characters should cross over with each other.

When the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer came out, fan were hyped about the inclusion of both Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. In the same interview, Cretton spoke more about how the latter came to be involved in the blockbuster, offering:

Don't you love learning how the sausage gets made? It turns out that Hulk being in Brand New Day was the filmmakers' idea, although they had to get approval from the higher ups. Luckily that's exactly what happened, and the latest Spider-Man movie feels like its straight out of the comics as a result.

Moviegoers really responded to Destin Daniel Cretton's sophomore outing in the MCU, and the crossovers helped to buoy excitement ahead of its release. In addition to Hulk and Punisher, the movie also introduced Sophie Turner's Jean Grey, who will have a role in the developing X-Men movie. So while Brand New Day told an emotional story about Peter Paker's loneliness and declining mental health, it also featured colorful characters from Marvel lore. It really had something for everyone, which is likely why the title's been such a huge success.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still in theaters now as part of the 2026 movie release list. The next Marvel movie hitting theaters is Avengers: Doomsday on December 18th, and there are plenty of fans hoping that Spider-Man will be included... especially after that Brand New Day credits scene.

Mark Harmon may have left NCIS five years ago, but he’s remained attached to the franchise since then. He serves as executive producer and narrator on NCIS: Origins and has reprised his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on a few occasions for the prequel. Ahead of his much-anticipated return to Origins on the 2026 TV schedule, NCIS just dropped a sick stat about Harmon playing Gibbs that’s blowing my mind.

Fans first met Gibbs in the two-part backdoor pilot on JAG in 2003, and he has been a staple in the franchise since then. Now that he’ll be returning for Origins’ entire upcoming season, fans are as excited as ever for his comeback. To get viewers excited, the official NCIS Instagram shared some fun facts about the beloved character, and just seeing exactly how many episodes he’s been in is blowing my mind:

Playing the same character for 475 episodes across three shows is definitely impressive. Of course, there are a couple actors in the NCISverse who have been in more, but it’s still mind blowing. That being said, Harmon starring in the first 18 seasons of NCIS and appearing on Origins, his episode count was sure to be high. However, seeing the actual number makes it all the more real.

Now Harmon will be adding to that number this fall. As previously mentioned, he is set to return on-screen as Gibbs for the upcoming third season of NCIS: Origins. Unlike the first two seasons, he will be appearing in all episodes of Season 3, which will consist of just 10 episodes. According to Deadline, ghosts from Gibbs’ past will come to the surface, interrupting his peaceful retirement in Alaska. It’s going to be exciting to see Gibbs on-screen more this season rather than just narrating, and there’s no telling what will be in store.

Whether or not Harmon will ever return to the Mothership is unknown. Gibbs seems to be pretty content in Alaska. If anything, NCIS has occasionally brought Gibbs back into the fold by name-dropping him or referencing an old case, etc. And if we can’t get him on the Mothership, his appearances on the prequel definitely make up for it. Plus, since he’s so close to 500 episodes, I can only imagine that he’d want to keep it going until he reaches the milestone, whichever show he does it for.

For now, fans will be able to look forward to Mark Harmon adding to his incredible NCIS episode count when he appears in all 10 episodes of NCIS: Origins Season 3. The season premiere will be on Tuesday, October 6 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, following the series premiere of NCIS: New York. All seasons of NCIS and Origins are streaming with a Paramount+ subscription, so fans can get all the Gibbs content they need beforehand.

It’s wild to think that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were just 9 months old when they were cast as Michelle Tanner on Full House. The typical 9-month-old is barely mobile, barely talking, and here were these two babies pulling a paycheck. For the next eight years, they grew up with the show, as did their TV sisters Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure, but the twins grew up differently than they did, Sweetin says. She explained why Mary-Kate and Ashley never got to be “normal kids.”

Jodie Sweetin was 5 years old when she began portraying Stephanie, the precocious middle daughter of Bob Saget’s widower Danny Tanner. Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ, was 11. The ABC sitcom spanned a huge chunk of the child actors’ lives, but Sweetin says there was a big reason the Olsen twins had a different experience. She told SheKnows:

After literally watching the Olsen twins grow up in front of their eyes — from infants to toddlers and finally elementary school-aged children — audiences simply could not get enough of the adorable sisters. And their parents were apparently happy to keep them busy.

During breaks from filming Full House, Mary-Kate and Ashley began starring in films together, including How the West Was Fun and To Grandmother's House We Go. When the sitcom wrapped after Season 8 in 1995, the Olsen twins continued to work, and ultimately the sisters acted together in more than 30 films, per People.

That was a different experience than Jodie Sweetin had as a child actor. She got breaks from acting when Full House wasn’t in production, and her dad continued to work so that the money she earned from acting wasn’t the family’s primary source of income. For Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, however, Sweetin said:

When you look at how hard the sisters worked as children — on top of the fact they were just 8 years old when Full House ended — it’s a little easier to understand why they eventually got out of acting and why they declined the opportunity to return for the spinoff Fuller House in 2016.

While John Stamos (aka Uncle Jesse) has admitted he was “angry” with the twins for rejecting the on-screen reunion, Bob Saget had a more gracious perspective. He said he loved his TV daughters but people should do what they want to do, and acting was not what Mary-Kate and Ashley wanted to do.

Jodie Sweetin has talked before about the Olsen twins and “how hard they were worked” as child actors, and how she feels bad that they lost out on their childhood. Because they’re so private, we don’t know how Mary-Kate and Ashley feel about it, but they definitely cared enough about their TV family to attend Bob Saget’s funeral in 2022 and even released a rare statement.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s childhood may not have been “normal” by our standards (or Jodie Sweetin’s), but hopefully the fun they seemed to have on the Full House set was real. All eight seasons are available to stream with a Hulu subscription.

Jenny and Sumit Singh started their time on 90 Day: The Last Resort talking about business issues and financial struggles, but ultimately, it all came back to the core thing they've fought about since their first season. Jenny was happy they mended her relationship with his parents, but she was sick of living with them.

Sumit initially agreed to his wife's request and even had the conversation with his parents. Some time after, however, he began to wonder if he had made the right call. With his relationship with his family on the line, some might be wondering what became of this. Well, fortunately, we don't have to wait for the next episode to hit the 2026 TV schedule to get the answer!

Jenny Previously Confirmed Sumit's Parents Moved Out

Jenny took part in interviews between production wrapping on 90 Day: The Last Resort and its eventual premiere, and she'd already confirmed that Sumit's parents moved out. It was confusing at the time, because the 90 Day Fiancé storyline airing on TV showed Jenny and Sumit moving in with his parents. It seemed then, and still seems odd, that Jenny and Sumit were making his parents leave a house that they were welcomed into, and I'd be lying if I said I understood it any better now.

Jenny Was Not Diagnosed With ALS Until After 90 Day: The Last Resort Filmed

Readers may remember that Jenny was in the news months ago after she publicly announced she was diagnosed with ALS. It's worth noting that the couple has stated they did not yet know she had ALS when filming 90 Day: The Last Resort, and that her diagnosis didn't factor into the conversation.

All this is to say that Jenny and Sumit are currently trying to get to the United States so she can get treatment. While Jenny is able to leave whenever, she's refusing to leave without Sumit, who has struggled to obtain a visa to gain entry into the country.

The hope is that, with treatment, Jenny can slow the progression of her disease and return to India with Sumit. Unfortunately, there's a legitimate fear for her and Sumit that she'll return to the United States and be unable to return to India, and that he can only stay in the country for so long on a visa.

90 Day: The Last Resort continues over on TLC on Mondays. With the recommitment ceremony just around the corner, the tell-all will be on the way, and maybe we'll cut some more answers on Jenny and Sumit.

Matthew McConaughey has starred in some of the best romantic comedies of the past few decades, with titles including The Wedding Planner, How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Fool’s Gold and Failure To Launch, to name a few. But just because the actor seems made for the feel-good formula doesn’t mean he agrees with how his characters are written. McConaughey got real about what he has always hated about the men in rom-coms.

The relationship between Matthew McConaughey and the romantic comedy genre has been a complicated one. Some of McConaughey’s best movies have been rom-coms, but years ago he chose to stop doing them. He opened up about the biggest challenge he faced when working within that tried-and-true formula, telling a crowd at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts:

Wow, he’s really got that down to an art, doesn’t he? Matthew McConaughey’s done enough work in the genre — rom-coms almost ruined his career, after all — to know how the story always goes, and he said it’s that last part, the boy-chases-girl part, where he’s had to fight for his character. He continued:

My god, he’s so right. Women don’t want the sniveling “I’m nothing without you” guy. They want the man who’s secure enough and mature enough to take accountability for his mistakes. Matthew McConaughey said rather than come crawling back, he wants to apologize and let his woman know that what they have is worth fighting for. He continued:

You have to hand it to Matthew McConaughey, and not for his unbelievable Dallas Buyers Club diet (which apparently involved no exercise and as much wine as he wanted — where is the justice?!). Give this man credit, because he didn’t just show up and read the lines he was given. He took the script and helped to make his character into a man that the predominantly female audience would feel more connected to.

His take on romantic-comedies makes me wish he’d return to the genre, and I’m holding out hope that maybe someday he will. For now, however, fans can see him in The Rivals of Amziah King, a neo-Western crime thriller, as well as Brothers in which he and Woody Harrelson play fictional (and possibly related) versions of themselves. The comedy is set to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule later this month and can be streamed with an Apple TV subscription.

We all know that Ken Jennings is one of the biggest winners in Jeopardy!’s history, boasting a probably unbeatable (though he would disagree) 74-game win streak and having accumulated over $4 million in winnings. However, there’s possibly another, less-respectable title that could apply to the host — Jeopardy!’s biggest liar! It turns out Jennings did quite a bit of fibbing during his historic run in 2004 when Alex Trebek spoke to him during the contestant interviews.

The contestant interviews, which traditionally fall in the middle of a Jeopardy! game’s first round, have been a heavily debated topic over the past couple of years — especially after one losing contestant said she was “thrilled” to not have to come up with another anecdote. Ken Jennings can likely relate to that, as he admitted to People:

Ken Jennings has admitted before that he finds the contestant interviews “a little cringey,” but that’s not to say there haven’t been some great ones. Back in 2024, Hilary Glazer talked about finding the “most beautiful composition of still life fruit” inside the toilet of a public restroom. That’s a pretty big difference from what is considered to be one of the worst Jeopardy! stories ever told.

As for Ken Jennings’ fabricated stories, they apparently ranged from the mundane to more outlandish and obviously untrue. He said:

I can understand letting some things slide, but if any future contestant confesses to killing a man during their Jeopardy! anecdote, I would hope that maybe a little bit of fact-checking into that person’s past might be done.

I can’t imagine having to come up with 75 stories to tell about myself like Ken Jennings did — to a national freaking audience, no less — so I’m sure at some point I’d run out of juice and just start making stuff up too. The player-turned-host does have some advice on crafting a good story, though, for anyone who may find themselves on the Alex Trebek Stage:

A rare dual spoiler warning for those who haven’t yet watched either Casper Kelly’s Buddy nor Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The critics-pleasing new horror movie Buddy hasn’t exactly kneecapped mega-blockbusters Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey at the box office, but Casper Kelly’s colorfully calamitous feature broke into the Top 10 in its first week of release, and capitalized on an uptick in theaters for Week 2. Fans are loving the big orange unicorn voiced by Keegan Michael Key, and I’m absolutely in that majority.

Which isn’t to say that I came out of Buddy with a complete understanding of its lore and how things work in this bonkers universe. I still have several lingering questions and curiosities about what went down for Grace, Freddy and other characters. Though I wouldn’t have expected my biggest question from this 2026 movie release to basically be the same one I had coming out of the latest Spider-Man sequel.

Both Movies Deal With Forms Of Memory Manipulation That Aren't Fully Explained

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s emotional hook, in large part, stemmed from Peter dealing with the aftermath of Doctor Strange’s spell that made everyone forget who Peter is – MJ and Ned in particular — with the ending offering possible hope for that spell to have been broken. But with that hope came lots of confusion and questions about how exactly the human brain’s ability to form memory works against pure magic. And we’ll likely continue asking that question until some future movie answers it.

Buddy doesn’t have any superheroes (that we know of), but there is definitely a kind of dark and evil magic at work dressed up like children’s entertainment. This one doesn’t solely affect memories, though, as it’s made clear during the horror movie’s runtime that reality itself changes whenever a child or adult is swayed into entering their TV screen to join the cast of “It’s Buddy.”

The family sticker on the car window is the clearest indicator, but a far more dramatic version happens even as Cristin Milioti’s Grace is still mostly within the real world, so to speak, with Topher Grace’s Ben seemingly unable to see his in-crisis wife freaking out, followed by a complete bedroom change once she’s fully enveloped. Which leads me to ask…

My Biggest Question: How Are Family Members' Memories And Realities Affected By The Buddy-Verse?

It's unclear exactly when Delaney Quinn's Freddy was drawn into joining Buddy's TV show, but that doesn't seem to have happened very long before the film kicks off, since she still looks the same in the flashback memories near the end. So it appears as if the family was living life normally, and presumably without school administrators calling to ask about Freddy's absences. For most intents and purposes, she and the other kids apparently cease to exist in clear ways to outsiders.

Which makes me wonder how exactly Grace's fleeting memories ended up being the key to breaking through that faux reality. When Freddy and Wade first suspected Buddy of killing Josh, did it crack that reality enough for a sliver of the truth to shine through in Grace's mind? I'll just assume the mother-child connection is why only Grace is affected, while Ben never stops sucking.

If that scenario is indeed close to what screenwriters Casper Kelly and Jamie King had in mind, then I'm newly horrified by the thought of Wade, Oliver and Hannah's respective mothers going through the same emotional turmoil as Grace, but without ever finding their children. I really can't imagine what George's parents must have gone through.

I Have Lots Of Questions Beyond The Memory Stuff

Since I don't expect Buddy's creative team to immediately offer any concrete explanations for characters' memory distortions, I might as well throw out some of the other overarching questions I had while watching.

1. Do the other two unicorns, Bobby and Benny, have their own shows, or did Buddy kill them, too?
2. If going into the Buddy-verse can make everyday objects anthropomorphic like Freddy's backpack, then what's up with those real mailboxes with fake eyes on them? [Pictured above]
3. Is there an area in that school/studio with an actual train locomotive to use as a Charlie replacement?
4. How many children have been "It's Buddy!" cast members?
5. How many children escaped Buddy's yard like George and Willie?
6. Why wasn't Mr. Mailbox's door fixed when "new episodes" started?
7. Is there a "real" person inside the Betty Bunny suit?
8. Is Buddy having sex with Betty and/or the nurses (as partially implied when he lasciviously licked Grace's face)?
9. Are the mail workers and nurses random adults, or are they often parents of the children?
10. Are the names in the "It's Buddy!" credits important to the lore?

I could have kept going with the questions, honestly, but l have this one dining room chair that I definitely need to put in the garage for some reason.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint may have cast their last spell in the Harry Potter movies 15 years ago, but the fantasy franchise is far from over. HBO Max announced that a TV series adaptation would be making its way to your 2026 TV schedule. But as the new Harry Potter TV series aims to be a more accurate adaptation of the books, how much did the team look back on the films while making the show? The film franchise’s producer and executive producer of the TV series, David Heyman, has the answer.

What we know so far about the Harry Potter TV show is that each season will cover one book from the J.K. Rowling series. But after its executive producer, David Heyman, was asked on Harry Potter: The Official Podcast if the movies played a factor in the upcoming streaming series, here was his straightforward answer:

David Heyman makes a great point. Sure, there were a lot of differences in the movies when you compare them to the books, like the exclusion of the character Peeves. But keep in mind that for the most part, the movies were over two hours long. So, there was only so much from J.K. Rowling’s magical world that could be included in the films.

But based on the latest trailer series from the HBO series, it looks like the new series is already straying away not only from the movies but the books as well. We saw Ron receive his Hogwarts acceptance letter and Hermione trying to make new friends on the Hogwarts Express. Both scenes didn’t exist in the movies or the books, which shows that the creative team is trying to explore new ways to develop these iconic characters.

As David Heyman was the producer of the Harry Potter movies, it means a lot coming from him that he wants the TV series to have a unique magic of its own rather than copying them. He continued to talk about the importance of the TV series adaptation standing apart from the films:

Definitely. Just like the Harry Potter films had different directors lending their unique visions to each film, the HBO series plans to have its own special vision. Warner Bros. TV chairman and CEO Channing Dungey said her explanation for creating the show was to explore the books in greater depth and bring those key details to the new series. So, I have a feeling we’ll be looking at the Wizarding World in a way we never have been through the new fantasy TV series.

On the other hand, there is one way the Harry Potter TV series connects to the movies in a direct way. The streaming series was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, which is the exact location the films were shot at. So, by bringing our favorite boy wizard to life on familiar ground, the HBO show can still have its own small connection to the movies while creating its own identity.

While the Harry Potter team can’t ignore the films that came before, it appears that the TV series is aiming to be a project of its own. At the end of the day, it looks like the HBO series is not looking to replicate the movies, but to expand the world and characters that J.K. Rowling's books first created.

Minor spoilers ahead for Onslaught.

The summer months are behind us, and for many moviegoers that means Spooky Season is here, and it's time to watch lots of scary movies. Luckily a new horror movie arrived this weekend to kick things off: Adam Wingard's Onslaught. The movie is a violent blast, and I had to ask the director about that running gag with a barbecued corpse. He told me how he made that happen, and one regret he still has about the recurring shot.

Onslaught stars future Man of Tomorrow actress Adria Arjona who plays a former army sniper named Celeste. When zombie-like super soldiers escape from a nearby military base, she must defend the trailer park she lives in and keep her and her young daughter alive. There's a high body count of fatalities in the new A24 movie, including one resident who dies while at his barbecue, with his corpse shown burning away multiple times throughout its 92-minute runtime. As you can see in the video above I asked Wingard about how that came together, and he said:

Honestly, my mind is blown. It really looked like there was someone burning alive throughout Onslaught, and I assumed a stunt person was responsible. But in reality it was more like a super gross outdoor heater, one that was in shape of a dead body. Many of the best horror movies have technical achievements, and this clever bit of moviemaking is no exception.

As audiences watch Adria Arjona's final girl personally take out the three super soldiers who are stalking her home, we are regularly treated to new shots of the barbecued corpse deteriorating. It was a great running gag in Onslaught, but Adam Wingard told me about a regret he had, namely:

Talk about a missed opportunity. Sine they could turn the rig on and off so easily, I would have at least tried to make a s'more or two during those long hours on set. But even if Wingard didn't get his shot of the victim's flesh melting, all of those sequences featuring the burned up dead body were helpful in establishing the movie's timeline, as well as adding some moments of levity to the bloody new movie.

Onslaught is in theaters now as part of the 2026 movie release list. The film's ending left things open for a potential sequel, so we'll have to see if Arjona's Celeste gets to kick more ass in a future project. Fingers crossed.

Obsession has become an obsession for movie-goers. The low-budget horror film that was reportedly made for $700,000 has earned over $500 million at the global box office and has become one of the 2026 movie calendar’s most notable success stories. It’s also turned a spotlight on Obsession cast member Inde Navarrette, who will be playing Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film.

But before all the attention, before we met Nikki and Bear, and before we knew what a One Wish Willow was, Sony was outbid for Curry Barker’s dark romance in which a young man makes a wish to win his crush’s heart, only to learn that some desire comes at a sinister price. According to Variety, while speaking at the Lumière Summit, an international film and entertainment conference hosted by the French government in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman said:

While Rothman was said to be “joshing,” or teasing, when it came to his outrage for missing out on the property, the fact that he even mentioned wanting that moment back and that he congratulated Universal’s Focus Features on the win is very notable. It’s hard to know just how far Sony might have gone or if they would have used a One Wish Willow to change the outcome, but they definitely seriously wish they would have landed the movie. Apparently, Sony lost out by “a couple million dollars,” which they likely could have easily made up with the huge box office profit.

We hear a lot about how young people aren’t going to movies, but a project like Obsession shows that that’s not actually true. Yes, it may be harder to capture the attention of a certain age of movie-going audiences, but it’s clearly not impossible. When you offer something with cultural significance like Obsession, it has the potential to become a juggernaut. It was already a success story with the bidding war that followed its premiere at TIFF, having been acquired for $15 million. But then, it went on to be that rare mix of huge box office success as well as being one of the best horror movies of recent memory.

Nikki from Obsession has become such a standout character that even though it was too late to add a full-blown house to the Halloween Horror Nights line-up this spooky season, Universal Studios Hollywood added a roaming Freaky Nikki to the festivities. She’s already become a fast fan favorite, as crowds of guests have been seeking her out to interact with her throughout each night of the event.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Curry Barker and his That’s a Bad Idea YouTube channel partner Cooper Tomlinson, who plays Ian in Obsession, will take advantage of the film’s success moving forward. The pair have already shot Anything But Ghosts, a supernatural horror-comedy for Focus that exists in the same universe as Obsession and co-stars Aaron Paul.

I’m curious to see how studios will react to the mark Obsession has made on the industry as they seek out new projects and platform new filmmakers, and whether they might be rethinking how much they bid on films in the future, to find that next big thing.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day still pulling in millions of dollars daily, it doesn’t seem extremely likely that Tom Holland will pass the webslinging baton completely over to another actor for upcoming Marvel movies anytime soon, but that day will definitely come at some point. Which means there are of course already fans hypothesizing about Holland making the leap to the DCU, and someone actually got response from co-head honcho James Gunn about it.

Amazingly enough, Gunn didn’t deliver a flat-out denial in response. Granted, his reply also wasn’t any kind of confirmation that plans are in place to bring Holland into Superman’s orbit, but anyone looking out for the most optimistic approach has something to latch onto here. Check out this fan question posed to Gunn on Threads, followed by the filmmaker’s sarcasm-imbued response.

To first speak to James Gunn's direct point...what a bizarre batch of characters to suggest for Tom Holland's DCU debut, considering most of the ones listed are teenagers or are in their early 20s. I get that it can be easy to forget Tom Holland's exact age, but just remember that he first put on the Spidey suit for Captain America: Civil War a full decade ago, so it probably wouldn't feel like a step up career-wise to jump from a "Man" character to anything more diminuative like Kid Flash or Beast Boy.

Could he pull off looking like a 20-year-old Aqualad or Mon-El? Absolutely, but he's at the point where any long-term franchise roles he takes on should probably skew older, so that he's not forever stuck playing characters so much younger than his own age.

To that end, Tom Holland might indeed be best utilized as a Dick Grayson already rocking his Nightwing persona. Considering we still don't know who the DCU's Batman is, it's not super-likely that he's already on his second or third Robin during the current DCU timeline. So even that most-likely scenario doesn't seem too likely. (Of course, the currently developing Brave and the Bold animated film is supposed to center on Bruce Wayne's relationship with son Damien, maybe the timeline isn't so predictable.

To circle back around how Gunn addressed the main question: all he did was somewhat jokingly comment on Holland probably not wanting to play a "lad" character. But did he actually provide a clear "No" to the general idea of Holland in the DCU? Not at all. Which is obviously not proof that the Spidey star will be popping up in Man of Tomorrow or anything so drastic. But it does seem to leave the door open for a possible team-up in a post-Spider-Man future.

Of course, Tom Holland made enough money to retire 100 times over with Brand New Day's massive success, so it also seems possible that he could just retire from any live-action projects that force him to break a sweat. And no judgment from me if that happens.

We're still waiting to get answers on big questions from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and to learn what in the (off)world that post-credits scene meant. So there are definitely still stories that need to be told with Holland under the mask. But if there's a future where the actor gets courted to play Booster Gold or even the aforementioned Lantern Kyle Rayner, I won't necessarily shed any spider-shaped tears.

Which DC heroes or villains would you guys like to see Tom Holland play in the DCU's future?

Eddie Murphy has delivered his fair share of iconic films over the course of his illustrious career. From Trading Places and Coming to America to Shrek and Dolemite Is My Name, he’s more than etched his place within the history of cinema. Of course, his journey as a movie star all began with 1982’s 48 Hrs., which is funny and one of the best buddy cop movies of all time. There are more than a few memorable scenes in the film and, according to the director, Murphy made a decision that saved an iconic moment from being “dull.”

In Walter Hill’s 48 Hrs., Murphy plays the role of wise-cracking convict Reggie Hammond, who is placed in the custody of short-fused cop Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) to help him solve a crime. Hill’s beloved ‘80s film is nearly perfect, though it took some work to get it just right. The director recently attended a screening of the movie at the American Cinematheque’s Aero Theatre, where he also participated in a Q&A., He revealed (via Gold Derby) that Reggie’s introduction wasn’t working until Murphy did something off the cuff:

Reggie comes into the story when Cates visits him in prison to get information on the whereabouts of Albert Ganz, a former associate of the former. As Cates walks down the corridor of prisoner cells, Reggie can be heard belting out the aforementioned hit song from The Police. Considering how iconic that scene is today, it’s hard to believe that song was a last-minute choice. I certainly couldn’t imagine that moment (which is also Murphy’s first scene in any movie) being any other way.

While “Roxanne” may have been perfect, there was some legal red tape that needed to be crossed. After all, the creative team couldn’t just use the catchy tune without any kind of permission. Hill went on to explain the next steps that were taken:

48 Hrs. remains not only one of my favorite Murphy movies but one of my favorite films in general. What’s surprising to me is that it doesn’t even sit on Murphy’s own Mount Rushmore of his movies, which is composed of The Nutty Professor, Shrek, Dreamgirls and Coming to America. For years, people have told stories regarding the moments that solidified Murphy as a superstar, and this latest anecdote from Hill only adds to his legend.

Murphy still isn’t slowing down either, as he’s been working consistently over the past several years. He was even the subject of a documentary, Eddie, which is available to stream with a Netflix subscription. And to think this movie journey all started with that buddy cop flick. I’ll forever be thankful that Murphy made the most of his time working on that movie and as a result, kick-started his fun body of work.

You’re going to laugh, but when I ranked all of the movies that won Best Picture in the 2010s, I put Birdman at number 1.

I’ve since realized the error of my ways, as Parasite was the best Best Picture winner of the 2010s. I still stand behind my belief that Birdman is an absolute masterpiece, and definitely one of the best movies TO win Best Picture.

However, I constantly see it near the bottom of Best Picture lists, with some people even saying that it’s one of the WORST Best Picture winners ever, which is totally incorrect. Let’s talk.

I Get It. People Think It's Pretentious, But Is It Really?

The biggest complaint I hear about Birdman is that it’s “pretentious.” The story of a washed-up Hollywood actor who is trying to make a comeback by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway stage play based on a Raymond Carver short story. I could get how that description alone makes it sound pretentious.

That said, it’s really not, and I think it’s all because of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s lively, upbeat, though sometimes maddening direction. Birdman is a lot of things, and you can enjoy it for any one of those things. It’s the story of a man slowly edging into insanity. It’s a commentary on Hollywood fame and the ubiquitous superhero movies of the time. It’s a story about the conflict of trying to be a great actor, but also a good father.

Plus, it’s all set to a wonderful, fluid jazz soundtrack, and it also feels like one long, continuous take. I get why some people might view that as pretentious, but it doesn’t feel pretentious while you’re viewing it. It’s not plodding, and it never actually feels like it’s taking itself seriously. If anything, it’s surprisingly fun and engaging, and “pretentious” is one of the last things that I’d ever call it. “A masterpiece” is a better term.

It Also Still Bums Me Out That Michael Keaton Didn't Win Best Actor

I’ll never forget the disappointment on Michael Keaton’s face when he lost Best Actor to The Theory of Everything’s Eddie Redmayne. It’s not like I don’t like The Theory of Everything. I do! It’s just that Birdman felt like such a personal movie for Keaton, as he’s often cited as the best Batman actor ever, and here he's playing an actor famous for playing a superhero.

This really seemed to blur the lines between art and reality, as Birdman’s Riggan Thomson, who Keaton portrays in the film, feels like a composite of Keaton’s real Hollywood career. Here was an actor who many still associate with a superhero, and what came out the other end was an actor who had to prove just how good he was so that he wasn’t consumed by the character that made him a megastar. I really do feel like Birdman was Keaton’s best chance at winning Best Actor, and he didn’t, which still bums me out.

I Think People Still Dislike The Ending, But It's My Favorite Part Of The Film

Finally, I think people dislike Birdman so much because they hate the ending, as it’s one of those ambiguous conclusions that presents more questions than answers. This also lends itself to people thinking it’s pretentious, or even bad, similar to The Sopranos’ ending. Like The Sopranos, what I love about Birdman’s conclusion is that people are still talking about it, even years later.

In fact, its ambiguous ending might be the film’s most lasting legacy, which I know people dislike, but I think that adds to its masterpiece status. I genuinely do think that people will be discussing that ending for many years to come, which means that it left a lasting impression on a lot of people, as all masterpieces do.

I’m usually not a fan of the romance genre. I've seen plenty of the best romantic comedies, but I like them more for their “comedic” elements rather than their “romantic” components.

I also usually don't swoon for the more serious romantic movies like The Notebook or Titanic. So, one might assume that romance is just not my genre.

However, two romantic movies are so heartbreakingly beautiful that even I fell hopelessly in love with them. And get this, they're both queer romances. The first is Brokeback Mountain, which definitely should have won Best Picture, and the second is the 2015 film Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which is one of the greatest love stories that I've ever seen. Here's why.

It's Visually Stunning, And The Lack Of Traditional Music Heightens The Burgeoning Romance

One of the most beautiful films I’ve ever watched is Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon, and a lot of this is due to the natural lighting. Well, Portrait of a Lady on Fire does one better, as it mostly features natural lighting and natural sound, which went a long way in immersing me in this love story.

One thing that a lot of films rely on too much is sweeping scores and musical cues to build an emotional connection with the viewer. Portrait of a Lady on Fire doesn’t go that route. In fact, the sounds are so minimal that you sometimes get lost in the silence, which plays a huge role in the story.

For example, certain moments of silence make the characters look visibly uncomfortable, while other moments bring the characters closer together as they FILL IN the silence. As you’re watching this story of “forbidden” love, there’s always the sense of danger that somebody will walk in on our heroines Marianne (Noemie Merlant) and Heloise (Adele Haenel) as they’re kissing or making love. It’s this sense of danger that makes this film both exciting and heartbreaking when it comes to their burgeoning romance.

This Is A Film From Women, And About Female Love, Which Gives It A Particularly Unique Lens

Another thing I adore about this film is that it has such a particular lens on love. The story concerns a painter (Marianne) and her subject (Heloise). It takes place in the 18th Century, and Heloise refuses to be painted because it means she will be one step closer to getting married, which she doesn’t want. Heloise’s mother hires Marianne to paint her daughter in secret, as Marianne pretends to just be a companion to Heloise, but paints her from memory after hours.

However, once Heloise sees the eventual clandestine portrait, she says it’s terrible. This makes Marianne want to know Heloise intimately to make a better portrait, which is how their romance - which is definitely sexually explicit - takes off.

What I love most about this is just how particularly feminine this movie is. There are very few men in the film, and the ones who are here don’t really concern the plot. This is definitely a movie about female love - both sexual and platonic. That makes the romance at the center of this film feel both different from anything that I’ve ever experienced, but also intoxicating. I also don’t think I’ve ever seen a romance that felt both this subtle and this intense at the same time. It really is a movie about the many facets of female love, and how special it can be.

Overall, I Am Head Over Heels For The Romance In This Film

There are more movies and TV shows about lesbian couples than ever before, but Portrait of a Lady on Fire is my favorite.

It’s mostly the forbiddenness of it all. Given the time period, every stolen kiss or hidden tryst feels vital to both of these women’s existence. So, while I’m not in love with most love stories, I can’t help but be head over heels for this one since it’s so good!

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t yet watched the latest episode of Lanterns on HBO or streaming via HBO Max subscription, so be warned!

After a deep third episode that peeled back more of the curtain on John Stewart’s childhood — along with a brilliant comic book easter egg that seemed important — Lanterns mainly stuck with the 2016 timeline for Episode 4, “The Weenie,” and seemingly answered a huge mystery in revealing the Manhunter threat that John was tasked with identifying. The ep also made it clear that Sinestro’s plan for Hal is working, even if the hero isn’t able to grasp that yet.

Unfortunately, in showing viewers that Poorna Jagannathan is the Manhunter, Lanterns didn’t seem to address or answer any of the other overarching questions tied to the Manhunter situation, the Macon family, and Hal and John’s investigation. So let’s get rhetorical with it.

Is Zoe The Mystery Benefactor, Or Was Macon Telling The Truth About Her Being A "Nurse?"

Earlier in the episode, when Garret Dillahunt’s Will Macon Sr. disrobes for his nude drawing, he notes that his unidentified benefactor is the one who healed his cancer, and is also responsible for the lack of unhealthy residents. Macon also notes that Zoe was the nurse, and that's how they met. To me, he didn't come across as if he was lying, although that could just be me buying into Dillahunt's acting talents.

If Zoe isn't also the benefactor on top of being the Manhunter, then how are the two characters connected? And who's the benefactor?

What Are Lianna's Ulterior Motives?

One theory points to Laura Linney's Guardian Lianna as being the alien who supplied Will Macon Sr.'s compound with all of its keen, Lantern-thwarting weaponry and tech. Which could certainly be the case, even if it doesn't seem to line up with her current goal of convincing John to duplicitously take control of the ring from Hal.

The fact that Lianna has been in regular contact with John and his family makes me very suspicious of her all on its own, since the Guardians are fairly hands-off beings when it comes to situations like this. The fact that she used such manipulative language with him made me think that she could have been the Manhunter, though I don't exactly know how that would work.

Why Hasn't Zoe Taken Out Antaan's Crew Yet?

Hot-headed Antaan is desperate to take out the Manhunter that allegedly destroyed his entire race, which has had some fans theorizing that he'll later be revealed as Red Lantern Atrocoitus. So you'd think with all the tech and whatnot at her disposal, Zoe would have some way of knowing that Antaan and his crew are on Earth. And that if she did, she wouldn't hesitate to use whatever powers she has to take them out.

So are they someone existing outside of her radar, and everyone else's? Is Lianna aware that they're around, and is she helping them at all?

Do Manhunters Get Pleasure Out Of Sex?

Okay so this maybe isn't the most plot-heavy question of the bunch, but I think it's kind of relevant. If the bot-esque Manhunters are capable of creating bodies that feel sexual pleasure and other such physical effects, it would make Zoe seem that much closer to humanity and thus worthy of empathy.

But if she was just faking all that pleasure with John and doesn't actually have the sensory inputs to tap into the deeper joys of touch, then that makes her even less trustworthy. It's clear Zoe uses sex to her advantage, but is any of that gratification legitimate for her? If nothing else, their first tryst allowed John to use the ring as a cigarette lighter, which is a baller move for an up-and-coming superhero.

Who Is Will Macon Jr.'s Biological Mother?

Regardless of whether or not Zoe is a Manhunter, she seems to have been a major boon to the Macon family, not just by keeping Will alive, but by presumably also helping build up the family compound to where it's at in the 2016 timeline. But I think we can all agree that she is not the one who gave birth to Jason Ritter's Will Jr.

Unless I'm mistaken, no. clues or hints regarding WIll Jr.'s mother have been addressed in Season 1 so far. So there's definitely a chance that the character's identity and story are not important to this narrative. But there's also a decent enough chance that the mother plays into Macon's cancer scare, and that she was still in the picture when the benefactor made contact. Perhaps Zoe was even responsible for the woman's death, though that's perhaps assuming too much.

Lanterns still has half a season left during the 2026 TV schedule to answer all of these questions and more. Such as who was that corpse in the series premiere's final sequence, since I have doubts about that actually being the "real" Hal. Find out where it goes next when a new episode hits HBO and HBO Max at 9:00 p.m.

A Days of Thunder sequel is officially in production, which ensures that Tom Cruise’s “sequel” era will remain intact. The perennial leading man dropped the big news earlier this month alongside co-star Anne Hathway. Since then, there’s been speculation regarding plot details, though no one’s spilling the beans on the Jonathan Levine-directed film just yet. That hasn’t stopped real-life NASCAR drivers from pitching themselves for the movie, though, and they have some fun ideas about how they could factor into the plot.

Several of NASCAR’s most esteemed drivers were recently polled in regard to the Days of Thunder follow-up’s development. USA Today specifically asked them to share whether they’d prefer to appear as themselves in the film and play a teammate or rival to Cruise’s Cole Trickle. The answers ultimately varied, with Austin Hill, Chase Briscoe and Rajah Caruth throwing their hats in the teammate ring. You can see below what their rationale is for joining that camp:

• Austin Hill: I would say teammate. I'm already too much on the bad guy program as it is, so I want to be on the good side of things. So, I'll be his teammate, I'll push him to the win.
• Chase Briscoe: I'd rather be his teammate. I feel like the fan perception of the people that go and watch the movie — if they're not NASCAR fans — if they turn on a race on Sunday, they'd probably rather cheer for Cole Trickle’s teammate than his rival.
• Rajah Caruth: Well, think about it: What this will probably be like is, Cole Trickle is probably, what, 50-something? Like close to retired. So, I'd say teammate because then — I mean, you saw ‘F1,’ right? So you could be the young teammate.

I can certainly understand the allure of wanting to play one of Cole’s teammates, especially since such a casting could lead to some on-screen moments of camaraderie with Cruise. On a side note, I also love that Caruth mentions the dynamic between Brad Pitt and Damson Idris’ characters in F1 (which has been mentioned in crossover talk with Days of Thunder). I do, however, get why the likes of Joey Logano, Carson Hocevar and Chris Buescher would want to play Cole’s rivals:

• Joey Logano: I pick the rival. Always pick the rival… I think that's one of the first movies you watch as a kid is ‘Days of Thunder.’ I know my kids have watched it already. I don't know if they're old enough to actually do that, but we watched it because it's a classic.
• Carson Hocevar: Probably the rival. I think he’d get a little more screentime.
• Chris Buescher: I’m going to have to be his rival because we're going to be in a Ford and we're going to be working against him… That is pretty exciting. That was my favorite racing movie growing up. And I know a lot of people my age will lean towards the ‘Talladega Nights’ side, but that one didn't do it for me.

There’s just something appealing about being the “heel,” so to speak, and to do that when acting against Tom Cruise could be a fun prospect for an actor (or racecar driver). Of course, it remains to be seen whether any of those racers will actually appear in the movie. It does seem like a given, though, considering Cruise and co. seem to be collaborating with NASCAR on it. Racing veteran Jeff Gordon even claimed over a year ago that he’d been in contact with Cruise about the sports organization’s potential involvement in the film. Not to mention the fact that Richard Petty, Neil Bonnett and other notable drivers appear in the original 1990 film.

It’s hard to say which real-life racers may or may not lap Cole Trickle in Days of Thunder but, at the very least, I’m psyched that Anne Hathaway is joining the film. The Oscar winner is playing a character who’s both an owner and an engineer, and Cruise shared glowing thoughts about her taking on the role. Fans seem pleased as well, with many also hyping the fact that Hathway’s latest role further drives home the point that she remains booked and busy.

As can be expected from a Tom Cruise movie, this latest sequel is set to be quite ambitious, and it’s going to be shot for the IMAX format. I can practically hear the roaring engines and screaming crowds of the stadiums now, and I hope those raceways are populated by NASCAR veterans eager to make cameos. The world lost a national treasure when Dolly Parton passed away on August 25 at the age of 80, but if there’s one silver lining we can take away from her death, it’s been all the wonderful stories that have been retold about her over the past couple of weeks. As celebrities paid tribute to the country music legend, many of them regaled fans with stories about working with Parton or the best advice she ever gave. Danica McKellar crossed paths with her for a Hallmark movie, and it sounds like she had quite the work ethic.

Like most of Dolly Parton’s fans, I know her reputation for hard work — it’s really no surprise when you consider her blue-collar background and the meaning behind her song “9 to 5” — but Danica McKellar got to witness that work ethic first-hand when she co-starred with Parton in Christmas at Dollywood in 2019. McKellar said the country music star was “everything that you hope she could possibly be and much more." She told Fox News:

Dolly Parton wasted no time on sleep, apparently, because I guess those creative juices never stopped flowing. However, I’d have expected the living legend to have a whole team dedicated to her iconic hair and makeup, so I am a bit shocked that she woke up super early to do it all herself.

As you can imagine, the “Jolene” singer didn’t slow down once she got to set, either, as Danica McKellar continued:

I’m charmed after just reading that, “Merry Christmas everybody,” in Dolly Parton’s voice in my head. What an honor it must have been to see Parton in action and get to learn from such a passionate worker.

Danica McKellar is far from the only person reflecting on fond memories of what it was like to work with the legend. Queen Latifah recalled after a long day of shooting Joyful Noise, Dolly Parton cooked her chicken and dumplings. Seth MacFarlane said her “kindness, generosity, and authenticity” was immediately evident when she appeared on his show The Orville, and Sandra Bullock marveled at how Parton insisted on sleeping in her tour bus rather than a fancy hotel room when they worked together on Miss Congeniality 2.

Dolly Parton was one of a kind, and stories like the one Danica McKellar told from the set of their movie is part of what will keep her memory alive. I’m hoping Hallmark will add Christmas at Dollywood to its list of upcoming Hallmark flicks. It would be such a treat for fans to be able to see that work ethic in action as part of the 2026 Christmas movie schedule.

When acting in a romance movie with intimate content, an actor has to be down with some pretty steamy scenes. This was the case for Adria Arjona and Glen Powell when they signed on for Hit Man, a movie about a fake hit man who falls in love with a target while trying to talk her out of hiring someone to kill her husband. It’s a fun action comedy with a surprising amount of intimate scenes and montages involving Powell and Arjona. That apparently ended up being a whole situation they had to work out logistically, and this meant a lot of Listerine strips.

Netflix has explicit films that top Hit Man in regard to steamy content, but Richard Linklater's flick still offers quite a bit in that regard. Arjona recently sat down with John Feitelberg for his show, Scene Stealers (which is on YouTube) to discuss such scenes between herself and Powell. To make the sheer amount of kissing in the film better for their scene partner, they used minty breath strips. However, I don’t think either of them realized just how many minty breath strips would be needed to keep up with the demand. She said:

That truly can’t be great for the stomach, but who has the time to brush your teeth every time, especially considering almost every scene they shot involved some kind of kissing. Powell knows a thing or two about keeping things sexy, but it sounds like even this production got a bit overly hot and heavy (on camera) for him to handle. I can imagine whatever PA responsible for purchasing the breath strips trying their best to keep up.

Arjona also admitted, her and Powell only really had themselves to blame for the sheer volume of intimate scenes. Powell co-wrote the film with Richard Linklater, and they also gave Arjona a lot of agency in the writing of her own scenes as well. So, even with this creative liberty, they wrote themselves all of these scenes. Arjona spoke to the irony of her and Powell landing themselves in the position:

It sounds like their biggest problem wasn’t the Listerine strips themselves, but the scenes they didn’t quite think through logistically. At the end of the day, I think this ultimately made the script better, because they weren’t thinking about what they wanted to do but what was best for the film.

Powell (who plays Gary Johnson) and Arjona (who plays Madison Figueroa Masters) have insane chemistry in the film, and the scenes aren't salacious for the sake of being salacious. Instead, they help inform their characters and relationship. Hit Man got great reviews from critics and was called one of the sexiest movies in years, so the Listerine strips definitely weren’t in vain.

It’s September, which means it’s finally Dancing with the Stars season on the 2026 TV schedule. Season 35’s cast is completely stacked with Olympians, Paralympians, reality stars, actors, musicians and influencers. So there are plenty of people angling to take home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy this fall, but one celebrity unsure of her skills is Maura Higgins. And it doesn’t help that her partner Mark Ballas gave her a brutally honest review.

Higgins was one of the first celebrities announced for Season 35. Not long after the announcement, she revealed that she wanted her Traitors buddy, Ballas, to be her partner, but she would have been fine with just about anyone, with one exception. Luckily, the Love Island UK star’s wish came true, and the partnership has come with some tough love. While speaking with People (as seen on TikTok), the duo talked about how things have been going. Ballas revealed that Higgins wondered how horrible she is with her dancing, and she was definitely not expecting his answer:

• Mark Ballas: During the run, she was like, ‘Oh, I want to do Dancing with the Stars.’ I was like, ‘Maura, you can’t make it through a 45-minute challenge. How are you going to make it through ten hours of rehearsal? On our first day after rehearsal, she turned to me. She was like, ‘Mark, on a scale of 1 to 10, how shit am I?’
• Maura Higgins: You didn't really answer me.
• Ballas: A four.
• Higgins: A four?! That's so bad.
• Ballas: I’m joking. She’s a true beginner, so we’re building it brick by brick.

Considering Higgins really bonded with Ballas on The Traitors, it’s not surprising that they would have a playful relationship, and I absolutely love it. I can only imagine how both fun and serious their rehearsals are, and I'm eager to get more insight into that. If anything, though Ballas doesn’t seem to mind building up Higgins’ dance skills from the ground up, and it will be exciting to see how far they’re able to make it.

That being said, it’s not like Higgins came into the show with absolutely zero dancing skills. Over the summer, Val Chmerkovskiy was whipping Higgins into shape, and she really put in the work. The two were dancing together and, if she didn’t end up being partners with Ballas, it would have been fun to see her with Chmerkovskiy. Yet now I need DWTS to bring back Switch-Up Week so I can truly see her dancing with him.

Ahead of Higgins’ addition to DWTS, plenty of pros were campaigning to get a different Traitors contestant on the show. During the DWTS tour earlier this year, Ezra Sosa and Hailey Bills kickstarted a campaign to get Season 4 winner Rob Rausch in the ballroom. Ballas jumped on the train, having had a bromance with Rausch on that reality competition series. Rausch himself hilariously declined since he “can’t move like that,” but I wouldn’t be surprised if he still wound up in the ballroom to cheer on his pals this season.

Regardless of her dance skills, Higgins has some pretty tough competition. There's no way of knowing who will be winning the big prize for Season 35 but, luckily, fans won’t have to wait much longer to get a taste of their favorites. Dancing with the Stars' special two-night premiere will air on Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and will be streamable with a Disney+ subscription.

It’s been a while, but Simu Liu is finally about to reprise his role as Shang-Chi (in a live-action capacity) in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. Joe and Anthony Russo’s sprawling team-up film is set to bring together characters from different corners of the multiverse. With that, Liu’s character gets to rub shoulders with some interesting individuals, including Channing Tatum’s Gambit. Liu recently spoke about filming with Tatum and revealed one key element that they had in common amidst the shoot.

One of the most exciting scenes that’s teased in the Doomsday trailer is the fight between Shang-Chi and Gambit. The quick shots showed the two heroes manipulating their signature weapons – playing cards and enchanted rings – while coming to blows. While the two characters are shown to be at odds with each other (at least for a time), Liu and Tatum apparently got along just fine on set. The Jackpot! star recently spoke to Marvel Studios (as shared on Instagram) about working with Tatum and had some kind thoughts:

It’s true that both Liu and Tatum are both actors committed to their craft, and I love the idea of them connecting over that while working on their upcoming 2026 movie release. And, as a fan, I also appreciate them wanting to do as many of their own stunts as possible. Liu is definitely correct in that not every actor is willing to do that, though several of their Marvel colleagues are of the same mentality. The general public has only seen a snippet of Tatum and Liu’s fight but, given their approaches, I think the entire sequence will be great.

This upcoming Marvel movie marks an auspicious occasion for both Tatum and Liu. When it comes to the Barbie alum, his character hasn’t been seen on the big screen since his 2021 solo film. Liu has continued to field questions about Shang-Chi 2 but, at the same time, he’s been hyping up his Doomsday experience and dishing on getting to work with big names. Liu also says Shang-Chi will have matured a bit by the time he reappears in the film, and that certainly signifies the passage of time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Meanwhile, Tatum reprises Remy LaBeau/Gambit following his debut as the character in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and he’s shared some BTS details, including his approach to that thick cajun accent this time around. He’ll be just one of the X-Men to factor into the narrative, as X-Men veterans like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and James Marsden are also in the mix.

I’m still very curious as to how the Russo Brothers are going to wrangle all these characters together to take down Doctor Doom, but I’m definitely eager to see how it happens. And, from a behind-the-scenes standpoint, I can also appreciate the amount of work that’s been put in by the cast and crew. Hopefully, Simu Liu and Channing Tatum’s shared desire to do their own stunts pays off in a big way.

I love the western genre and have watched a great many of the best westerns ever made, but the thing about most westerns is that a vast majority of them are centered around white men.

Sure, there are a select few that feature Black characters, and I always welcome them, but most American westerns are focused on white men having white men problems.

Do you want to know another group that is rarely represented in westerns? Women! Which is strange since I'm sure women had their own problems back then, too. There are a few notable westerns focused on women, like Meek's Cutoff, True Grit, and 1956's Gunslinger, but my favorite is 1954's Johnny Guitar, and for several reasons. Here are just a few.

The Story Centers Around Joan Crawford As A Tough As Nails Saloon Owner

Today's younger cinephiles likely don't know much about Joan Crawford, unless it concerns the 1981 drama, Mommie Dearest, which stars Faye Dunaway as Crawford in a, let's just say, less than flattering light. However, Crawford had a pretty interesting career that had its high highs in the ‘20s and ‘30s, and its low lows in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s. The ‘50s in particular were an interesting period for Crawford, and that's where 1954's Johnny Guitar comes in.

Directed by Nicholas Ray, Crawford plays a saloon owner named Vienna who did everything she could to afford and build her saloon. The first time we see her, she's discussing business with a man, and you can tell she's the kind of woman who gets what she wants. That is until a posse arrives at her saloon, led by Emma Small (Mercedes McCambridge), who hates her guts and wants to see the place burn.

However, Vienna isn't going down without a fight, and even though she isn't quick to fire, she will definitely stand her ground, making her one of the more intriguing female characters in a western. First, I want to get back to the simmering anger between Vienna and Emma, as that's the crux of this film.

Her Rivalry With Another Woman Is One For The Ages

I really like westerns that subvert expectations. I recently wrote about The Big Country, and I love that movie since it stars a protagonist who preferred not to fight. I also love Johnny Guitar since it features something else that you don't often see in a western: a rivalry between women.

Which you wouldn't think, right, given the film's title. Johnny Guitar is actually a character in the film played by Sterling Hayden. While he is an important character, none of the men really matter as much as the hatred that Emma has for Vienna.

This hatred leads to a startling climax that rivals anything you might see in other, more popular westerns like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Unforgiven.

In The End, It's Unlike Any Other Western From The '50s, Or Even Today

I've seen so many westerns in my life, but I've never seen one like Johnny Guitar. I usually love westerns where you root for the outlaw, but Johnny Guitar isn't that. I also love westerns where you have men squinting at each other for long periods of time before they have a shoot-out, but Johnny Guitar isn't that, either.

In fact, even after all I've written, it's still hard for me to explain just why I love this western so much since it doesn't follow any of the tropes that I'm so familiar with when it comes to the genre. This might be why the film did moderately well when it first came out, but it's since developed a new, modern appreciation.

This is why you should definitely watch Johnny Guitar if you haven't already (it's available on Kanopy), since I guarantee you haven't seen any other western like it.

By now, it’s no secret that Bari Weiss has been making changes at 60 Minutes since becoming CBS News’ editor-in-chief. Weiss has since cut a number of staffers, including veteran correspondents and producers, with remaining staffers reportedly having positive or mixed feelings about that. Amid continued backlash aimed at some of Weiss’ moves, there have also been reports regarding the pundits she would supposedly like to land. Now, insiders are dropping claims about whether Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo is next.

It was reported last week that Bartiromo had been let go from Fox News and Fox Business, where she’d been working since 2013. The veteran journalist’s ousting – which she herself has disputed – was due to her allegedly leaking internal guidance she received from the network. Bartiromo had reportedly been directed to avoid covering information pertaining to U.S. President Donald Trump’s claims about the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election. Bartiromo’s next moves are unclear, but one source claims Weiss has been in contact with her:

These sentiments were shared by an insider who spoke with Rob Shuter for his Naughty But Nice substack. At this time, neither CBS News nor Weiss herself have confirmed or denied that any kind of discussions with Bartiromo have taken place. Still, another source is alleging that Weiss is interested in Bartiromo for a few specific reasons:

Throughout her career, Bartiromo has amassed a considerable amount of notoriety within the world of TV news. Aside from working for Fox, she’s also had stops at both CNN and CNBC. Bartiromo has been embroiled in controversies as well, including Smartmatic’s lawsuit involving conspiracy theories related to the 2020 election. The Mornings with Maria host was named a plaintiff in the $2.7 billion defamation suit, which is ongoing.

If Maria Bartiromo were to be hired for 60 Minutes, she would be one of the latest new additions to the program. The past few months have seen Weiss and series EP Nick Bilton bring in Gianna Toboni, Sebastian Junger, Ross Douthat, Trevor Phillips and Ariel Levy. Said hirings came on the heels of the mass firings in May that saw correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi fired along with EP Tanya Simon and executive editor Draggan Mihailovich. Scott Pelley was also fired shortly after reportedly accusing Weiss of “murdering” the show.

Several veteran anchors will still be present when 60 returns for Season 59 amid the 2026 TV schedule. Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim are still with the show amid the sea of “forced departures.” Rumors also suggest that Weiss isn’t done picking up pundits for the company, as she’s supposedly eyeing Chris Cuomo for a role. That remains to be seen, as is the case with Bartiromo, who purportedly has strong feelings about getting back to TV. Another insider said:

The viewing public can only wait and see if Maria Bartiromo does actually make her way over to CBS News. It also remains to be seen what might come of Bartiromo’s continued drama with Fox News.

Five years after the end of Daniel Craig's James Bond era, fans are still wondering who will play the next 007. So far, it's known that Amazon-MGM Studios’ 007 joint venture will see Dune director Denis Villeneuve take the helm, with Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight writing the script. As many continue to wonder who will portray the MI6 agent, Gary Oldman may have just let the cat out of the bag. Not only does Oldman say the actor has been found, but he's hoping a certain star has landed the role.

Oldman shared on Global TV’s The Morning Show (as shared to YouTube) that he thinks a new Bond actor has already been picked, and he's hoping that his Slow Horses co-star, Jack Lowden, is the man taking the job:

I love how Gary Oldman has such high hopes for his young co-star. Given he’s seen the Essex native in action playing an MI5 agent on their Apple TV series, I can imagine it’s easy for him to envision Lowden being the next to carry the 007 mantle. Interestingly, Nina Gold is the casting director for James Bond 26, and she also did casting for Slow Horses. Yet it’s important to note that nothing has been confirmed (or denied) about Lowden taking over as Commander Bond.

Given Lowden's work as River Cartwright as on aforementioned TV show, he definitely has experience with characters who can operate in and outside of the shadows. Even the bio-drama flick Benediction could have put Lowden on the 007 shortlist, given his emotional range and dramatic pull as a performer. That will certainly be needed for the next iteration of this franchise.

After Daniel Craig stepped away from James Bond after No Time to Die, it was assumed that finding a new star would take time. Amazon Studios’ VP Courtenay Valenti explained that his successor was taking so long to ensure they hire an actor who can truly carry the torch for the Bond legacy.

The last few years have seen the internet go Bond-crazy on rumored candidates. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been high on the Bond hopeful list for quite some time as well as Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page, Jacob Elordi, Theo James and more. As producer Amy Pascal announced a casting timeline for Bond 26 , saying that by the end of 2026, we might finally get to know who will be the next lucky actor to want his martini “shaken, not stirred.”

Considering that timeline, Gary Oldman's assertion that a new actor has been found could be correct. That's far from a certainty, but I'm eager to see if Jack Lowden does end up being the actor to don the snazzy tuxedo and possess a license to kill.

Make sure to watch Oldman and Lowden share the screen in Slow Horses, which is streamable with an Apple TV subscription, when it returns for its sixth season on September 16th.

The romance between Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet has often been compared to Zendaya and Tom Holland’s relationship, and there’s probably several reasons for that. They’re all around the same age, and both couples have gone to lengths to keep that part of their lives private — even after being together for years. Sources say there’s another similarity between the two, as Chalamet allegedly wants to take a cue from his Dune: Part Three co-star and marry The Kardashians star in a top-secret ceremony.

Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach let it slip earlier this year that Tom Holland and Zendaya tied the knot, which the Spider-Man: Brand New Day star confirmed in June. Sources for RadarOnline say Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are now aspiring to follow in their footsteps, as a supposed insider said:
