The “God’s Country” singer and his wife Gwen Stefani — who met when they were coaches on The Voice — have made no secret about how much they love the “Oklahoma life,” and it turns out when Blake Shelton’s not recording music or traveling with his new music competition show The Road, he has no qualms about shutting the phone off to do some hunting, fishing or just spending quality time with Stefani and his three stepsons. He told Forbes:

Apparently, the two lovebirds keep a bathroom papered in all their tabloid fodder, as the singer and reality TV star told Forbes.

I’d never heard the story, but it was casually mentioned in a way that felt like something the couple had spoken about before. So, I looked into this, and sure enough, Stefani had previously discussed the choice back in 2022.

However, doing it as a nod to all of the articles that have been written about your relationship is pretty funny. Even more diabolical? You can pop in and out at will, and I can’t wait to see what Shelton does next, even if it’s just more enjoyment of his tabloid-papered bathroom.

The competition is fierce on The Voice, of which the 29th season is airing on the 2026 TV schedule. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine are engaged in the “Battle of Champions,” as all three of the Voice coaches have previously won the show. Whoever takes the W this season will have huge bragging rights, but as Clarkson looked back at her very first win, it sounds like nothing could beat getting “the ultimate revenge” on Blake Shelton.

It doesn’t matter how long Blake Shelton has been gone from The Voice, his spirit lingers. The cowboy had a reputation for winning all of the country music artists and then rubbing it in his colleagues’ faces as he racked up nine wins over 23 seasons. That means he bumped heads a lot with Kelly Clarkson. Just recently, the current coach took a look back at her biggest moments recently, and when she happened upon a photo of Brynn Cartelli from Season 14, she said:

Blake Shelton may no longer be on The Voice, but the trolling amongst his co-stars has never stopped. The country crooner’s final chair turn came back in 2023, but even after two years, we're still getting gems aimed right at the country singer. The Voice coaches are known for getting under each other’s skins, but I did not see Gwen Stefani taking some side shrapnel when Daly took it upon himself to humorously throw shade Shelton's Sexiest Man Alive title.

Ahead of The Voice Season 29’s premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, the cast gathered at a The Voice Karaoke Night in New York City. While there, Carson Daly had reminded fans that three former coaches have been crowned Sexiest Man Alive, including Shelton, who took the title in 2017. To this day, Daly joked with People he’s still unclear how that even happened:

To be fair, Shelton’s Sexiest Man Alive title definitely shocked a lot of people, not just Daly, but it came at a pretty fitting time in his life. The Voice was at its peak, and Shelton would go on to win his sixth season just a month after his new title was announced. Plus, he was doing well on the country charts. Even so, Daly still doesn’t understand why he was given the title, and he had my smiling with that sly Stefani crack.

I would love to know what Shelton’s response would be to this accusation, because he has trolling down to a science at this point. All joking aside, it is nice to know that everyone on The Voice gets along well enough to kid like this. t just shows how close everyone who has been on the show is. It's also nice to know that joking and trolling extends outside the competition series, such as when Kelly Clarkson even hilariously shaded Shelton during an impromptu vow renewal at one of her concerts.

As noted above, Daly is not the first person to troll Shelton, and he won’t be the last. When his new title was announced, Miley Cyrus also couldn't resist a Sexiest Man Alive dig in a video, saying no one knows sexy better than her, while Shelton was sitting next to her and drinking with his pinky out. We may be far off from 2017 at this point, but the title never dies, and neither do the jokes.

It’s unknown if Blake Shelton will ever return to The Voice, but if he does, I think we already know what the tone will be. At the very least, we can probably look forward to many more hilarious moments between the coaches and Daly, whether during The Voice or not.

That's because he’s already spoken out about the rumors and how silly he finds the whole situation. What the American Music Award winner seems to be referring to is the back-and-forth nature of the rumor mill. At any given time, insiders can be making claims on opposite ends of the spectrum. To that point, Shelton went on to say that shortly after seeing that initial report about him and Stefani being “back together again,” he saw yet another story that indicated that he and his wife were once again on the rocks:

Blake Shelton didn’t explicitly say that he and Gwen Stefani weren’t heading for divorce, but his indignation over the flurry of rumors would seemingly suggest there’s no validity to the chatter. He also said during his recent hosting gig that he could no longer “believe anything anymore that I see on the internet.”

Stefani and Shelton’s relationship, which began in 2015 and culminated in the two getting married in 2021, has been under scrutiny for months now. Despite that, there have been pieces of evidence to suggest a lack of validity to the claims. This past November, for example, Stefani shared a sweet Thanksgiving selfie with her hubby. She also seemed to squash the rumors in December when she showed up to the Oh. What. Fun. premiere sporting a diamond wedding band Shelton gave her. The pair also rang in the New Year with a kiss that was shown on Stefani’s Instagram story.

That collection of aforementioned points paired with Blake Shelton’s recent comments seem to pour cold water on the notion of him getting a divorce from Gwen Stefani. At this point, I honestly wouldn’t expect Shelton to address the matter publicly again or at least not anytime soon.

Fans of The Voice are in for a treat on the 2026 TV schedule with a revamped Season 29 coming to NBC in February that will feature new twists and Kelly Clarkson reuniting with Adam Levine for the first time in seven years. However, the singing competition also has a milestone coming up next fall, and apparently big plans are in the works. If the rumors are true, The Voice Season 30 could feature arguably the most impressive panel yet, but I’ve got one Blake Shelton-sized concern.

According to an alleged insider, The Sun reports that The Voice is trying to get Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson as their dream lineup to coach Season 30, and they’re reportedly willing to shell out millions of dollars to do it. The source reported:

The tabloid notes that nothing has been finalized yet, and there’s still plenty of time for things to change, with The Voice Season 30 not expected to go into production until late spring or early summer.

I agree that when looking at all of The Voice coaches, it’s hard to beat this lineup. A Blake Shelton reunion with Adam Levine seems like it should be top priority, and throwing Kelly Clarkson back into the competitive mix would be fantastic. Gwen Stefani makes sense as the fourth coach, as she and Shelton could return to the stage where they first met over a decade ago on Season 7.

Here’s why I’m wary to believe these rumors: Blake Shelton still has yet to show any interest in returning to The Voice. Of course he would be amongst NBC’s dream lineup; everybody wants to see the cowboy and the Maroon 5 rocker together again, but it seems like a long shot that it would actually happen. The insider even acknowledged this, saying:

Blake Shelton has said he shut down for about a year after leaving The Voice in 2023, and once he became motivated to help up-and-coming artists again, he landed on The Road (streaming with a Paramount+ subscription), where he traveled with musicians competing to open for Keith Urban.

It’s not just Blake Shelton, though, who could pose a problem for this dream Season 30 lineup. As the supposed insider noted:

Kelly Clarkson left The Voice when she and her Emmy-winning talk show relocated to New York, and she’s expressed the need to stay on the East Coast to give her children stability. It seems like that might be especially important following the death of Brandon Blackstock — their father and Clarkson’s ex-husband.

It was a surprise that the “Since U Been Gone” singer agreed to return for Season 29, and I don’t know if that makes it more or less likely that she’d return again for Season 30.

I’ve been a huge fan of The Voice since the beginning, and no one would be happier than me to see Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson come together for the competition’s milestone 30th season. But despite the rumors circulating, I will remain skeptical until we get something official from NBC or Shelton himself.

Gwen Stefani is also heading to Sin City in 2026, as she’ll join the rest of No Doubt for six shows in the Sphere. She’s also had a big 2025, releasing her own new album, Bouquet, in March.

It seems like they’ve tried to head off some of the split rumors in recent weeks. Gwen Stefani posted a Thanksgiving pic of the two to Instagram Stories proving they’re still couple goals. Early in December, Stefani also hit the red carpet sporting some meaningful jewelry — her diamond wedding band and engagement ring from Blake Shelton.

More recently, the buzz surrounding the two former Voice coaches has mostly pertained to breakup rumors. Shelton (49) and Stefani (56) haven’t publicly acknowledged the chatter that’s been consuming the rumor mill as of late, but it seems that’s not necessary now. Stefani seemed to put the kibosh on the gossip during a recent appearance, and it was her choice of jewelry that specifically did it.

This past Tuesday, the No Doubt member walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of Oh. What. Fun. (one of the latest titles to hit the 2025 movie schedule). It was at the event that Gwen Stefani sported a black corset overlaid with a green tulle, as captured in a video shared to YouTube. What was also particularly noticeable, though, was the fact that the songstress sported a lot of jewelry, including a pear-shaped diamond wedding band given to her by her hubby as well as an engagement ring complete with a few carats.

Gwen Stefani’s aforementioned bobbles shone brightly right alongside her other ring, which featured three pink-colored stones. I’d wager that anyone who was in proximity to the star would’ve needed to wear shades. Of course, I’m only joking about the shades but, on the whole, this is an interesting development, considering those breakup rumors. If there were truly friction between Stefani and her country music-singing beau, it would theoretically be more likely that she wouldn’t be wearing his ring.

They ultimately became engaged in 2020 and, in July 2021, Stefani and Shelton tied the knot in front of their family and friends at the latter’s Oklahoma ranch. Now, I’m wondering if Dorothy Gale’s shiny, silver (or ruby) slippers can actually hold a candle to Gwen Stefani’s sparkling rings. Although Stefani hasn’t talked about the state of her relationship with Blake Shelton as of late, it’s evident that her little trinkets are more than speaking for her.

Last year Kelsea Ballerini posted a screenshot of her group chat with Adam Levine, Michael Bublé and John Legend in which they really just razzed the singer over her first attempt at cooking turkey.

Blake Shelton may no longer be on The Voice, but that hasn’t stopped his fellow coaches from shading him on occasion. It’s been two years since Shelton’s final chair turn and, while a lot of the Voice coaches have come and gone over the years, his absence is certainly felt. He’s made some memorable friendly rivalries with Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson, among others, and Clarkson is still keeping up with it. Anyone who needs evidence of that should know about the time Clarkson even shaded Shelton during an impromptu vow renewal.

During one of Clarkson’s shows for her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, one fan handed her a piece of paper and asked her to officiate their vow renewal, which happened during the concert. In a video posted to TikTok by user themrkingalex, the American Idol winner pointed out that she hadn't officially been ordained as an officiant but that she would make sure to go online that night to make it official. She also hilariously said, “If Blake Shelton can do this, any fucking person can do this.” Check it out:

Shelton has officiated weddings more than once, having done it for best friend Trace Adkins in 2019 and his former manager, Narvel Blackstock, in 2024. So it’s pretty funny that Clarkson felt the need to bring that up, even despite the fact that The Voice’s Carson Daly officiated Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding. However, it’s not surprising, since she wouldn’t want to pass up an opportunity to roast the country star.

Clarkson and Shelton had quite a memorable friendly rivalry on The Voice, and she brought that humorous competitiveness back when she returned to the series earlier this year. She trolled Shelton by sitting in his old chair and was as happy as ever. It’s fun to see that this rivalry/friendship continue to endure and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

That being said, seeing Clarkson shading Shelton at her show makes me wish that Shelton would return to The Voice, even for just a season. Some thought Clarkson wouldn’t return, especially once The Kelly Clarkson Show moved to New York. However, she's going to be back for Season 29 on the 2026 TV schedule, which is certainly a plus. I’m just looking forward to seeing all the fun trolling continue, especially since she’ll be joined by John Legend and Adam Levine, the latter of whom also had a pretty iconic and fun rivalry with Shelton.

Arguably, the best part of The Voice is not seeing the aspiring singers and rooting for favorites, but it's the chemistry between the coaches and seeing how fun they truly have. The friendly competition is has been a welcome part of the show, and I hope that dynamics like the one between Shelton and Clarkson don't go away.

When the former coach of The Voice inquired of the ex-American Idol judge, “Do you care to explain this to me?,” Keith Urban really had no excuses, saying:

Blake Shelton didn’t get off easy either. The man is no stranger to the mullet, but that wasn’t even the issue when Keith Urban pulled out a pic of a curly haired Shelton, with perfectly gelled tresses framing his smoldering gaze toward the camera. Urban said:

Blake Shelton joked that there must have been a breeze coming from behind him. The “Straight Line” singer then pulled out a 2000s-era country music magazine that featured both of the artists, who seemed equally horrified at their appearances for different reasons:

• Blake Shelton: Is my face, like, two feet across? I think I thought if I grew my hair and had it come down, it would hide my jowls.
• Keith Urban: I think this might be from Madame Tussauds.

Give yourselves some grace, guys. Anybody who’s lived a couple of decades has fallen victim to hair trends of years past. The funny thing is how those trends tend to come back around, so who knows?

Keith Urban and Blake Shelton have hit The Road together to host a new singing competition produced by Taylor Sheridan. Just weeks before the series premiered this month on the 2025 TV schedule, however, news broke that Urban’s 19-year marriage to Nicole Kidman was ending. Knowing that the show was filmed in those final months might give some context to some of “The Fighter” singer’s comments — and it certainly made his and Shelton’s jokes about pickup lines interesting.

In Episode 2 of The Road, which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription, the musicians visited Dallas, Texas, for two nights in front of a live audience. One contestant, Jenny Tolman, took the stage asking who was there with someone they loved and proceeded to ask them to put their arms around each other. Urban and Shelton dutifully gave each other a big hug before Urban followed the singer’s instructions by telling Shelton:

While The Road hosts were all smiles during the interaction, it’s hard not to be a little sad at the thought that Keith Urban's tank with Nicole Kidman had run out of gas after 20 years. At least he got a good hug out of it.

Another moment later in the show also unwittingly referenced Urban’s soon-to-be-single-again life. The former coach of The Voice and the former American Idol judge had this exchange:

• Blake Shelton: You think it’s a good pickup line? ‘Hey, cowboy, what’s your name?’
• Keith Urban: Well, not from you.

They got a good laugh out of that one, but the reality is that Keith Urban’s now in a place to judge just how effective that line can be.

We’re only two episodes into the CBS competition, and these are not the only instances that raised eyebrows amongst fans amid the four-time Grammy winner’s divorce. In the season premiere, Urban warned the artists of the difficulty of life on the road, saying:

He then took the stage in Fort Worth, Texas, to sing “Straight Line,” a song about escaping a “soul-sucking” life that he apparently wrote about a year before his split from Nicole Kidman, leaving us to wonder what the “dark cloud” was that his song’s narrator was trying to get out from under.

A lot of country music deals with heartbreak and vulnerability, and as Keith Urban proves he’s a force to be reckoned with as a mentor for the budding artists on The Road, I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped other pearls of wisdom and emotion that signals other things going on in his personal life.

Blake Shelton’s new singing competition, The Road, is set to make its premiere on the 2025 TV schedule on October 19, but his old buddies over on The Voice just can’t seem to quit this cowboy. Two years (and five seasons) after the country music star turned his Big Red Chair for the last time, Shelton is still getting trolled by his former colleagues — and, surprisingly, Niall Horan seems to have been the one to start it.

Of all The Voice coaches who have come and gone over the years, Blake Shelton has undoubtedly been the instigator of most of the drama, forming (friendly) rivalries with Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and even host Carson Daly. Niall Horan, however, was more of a son to Shelton, so it’s a bit surprising to hear the former One Direction member shading his pops in this Instagram video:

OK, who knew Niall Horan was such a good country singer? He and Blake Shelton really should collaborate on some music, because who taught him that warbling yodel that he did at the end there?

The ex-boy-bander tried his hand at Thomas Rhett’s new song “Old Tricks,” which just happens to feature Blake Shelton. Niall Horan couldn’t pass up the chance to take a shot at his buddy, as he said:

Admittedly, this is some mild shade being thrown but, considering Niall Horan confirmed on the current season of The Voice that he’d “always” be Blake Shelton’s son (after Michael Bublé tried to usurp the position of Horan’s father), I’m still a bit surprised.

It’s definitely more a page out of Carson Daly’s book and, sure enough, The Voice host chimed in in the comments about how Niall Horan’s version of “Old Tricks” compared to that of his Barmageddon co-host, writing:

They may have a funny way of showing it but, despite the barbs traded between Blake Shelton and Carson Daly, they became really close friends working together on The Voice for 12 years. Daly even officiated the cowboy’s wedding to Gwen Stefani — encouraging them to write their own vows, which led to Shelton penning their wedding song “We Can Reach the Stars.” (The song appears on the deluxe edition of his album, Body Language.)

Blake Shelton may not be sharing the screen with Niall Horan and/or Carson Daly anymore, but he hasn’t lost his passion for helping up-and-coming musical artists. His new show, The Road — which is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan — follows 12 budding country music artists around the country as they open for Keith Urban on tour.

The winner will receive $250,000 and a recording contract, but all of them will likely benefit from having Gretchen Wilson as their tour manager and Blake Shelton and Keith Urban there to impart their own wisdom. That’s not to mention the fans they make along the way while traveling the country.

It's been five seasons since Blake Shelton said goodbye to The Voice and, while I wouldn’t say Michael Bublé has taken his place, there are some striking similarities. There’s the way he stays in touch with his team members after the cameras start rolling, and you can’t deny Bublé’s winning ways. But the biggest way that the Canadian singer seems to be filling the cowboy’s shoes has to do with Niall Horan.

Blake Shelton and Niall Horan hit it off immediately on Shelton’s final season of The Voice, which just happened to be the former One Directioner’s first. The two took on more of a father-son relationship and, as Season 28 airs on the 2025 TV schedule, it seems now Michael Bublé is filling that role. On the first night of Blind Auditions, the coaches revealed just how close they were after 14-year-old Max Chambers auditioned:

• Bublé: You remind me of my son, Niall, when he was a young man.
• Horan: Oh yeah?
• Bublé: Yes. Just call me Daddy now. Call me Big Daddy.
• Horan: Hi Daddy!

The two continued the bit even after Max decided to join Big Daddy’s team (nope, I can’t do it), as they called each other “Dad” and “Son” and told each other, “I love you.”

Seriously, this is a page straight out of Blake Shelton’s Season 23 playbook, when the country music star said he knew Niall Horan was meant to be his son. The former boy-bander acknowledged as much on the current season, saying:

Snoop Dogg jumped in to defend his fellow coach on The Voice with his support of the new custody agreement, as he and Niall Horan joked:

• Snoop: We just gonna say you went through the adoption agency for a year.
• Horan: Yeah, I don’t want to live in Oklahoma anymore.
• Snoop: ‘I wanna go to Canada where I can go ice skating.’

There’s no way to know how Blake Shelton feels about the Michael Bublé takeover. However, it turns out the former coach — whose new singing competition show The Road debuts next Sunday, October 19 — may not have that much to worry about anyway. Niall Horan set the record straight by admitting:

Maybe it’s for the best if Niall Horan remains loyal to Blake Shelton. He and Michael Bublé are in a pretty tough battle this season, as the only two undefeated coaches to ever face off on The Voice, and I’d hate to see Season 28 end in a father/son estrangement.

Throngs off people are going to be off to see the Wizard before the end of the 2025 movie release schedule with the arrival of Wicked: For Good in theaters this fall, but another take on the world from the original L. Frank Baum story is in the works with an interesting duo behind the scenes. The Voice vets Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, who got married in a stunning ceremony in 2021, are working on a contemporary retelling of The Wizard of Oz for Prime Video.

Called Dorothy, Deadline reports that the developing series will be a contemporary young adult version of Wizard of Oz, infused with music. The Yellow Brick Road will be incorporated as a metaphor rather than just a physical road, standing in for the choices and challenges that young adults are dealing with. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are on board as non-writing executive producers, but I have to wonder if they'll be involved in how music is incorporated into the series.

Via the outlet, Shelton said that he "knew right away it was something Gwen would connect with," adding that her "creativity and perspective are such a natural fit" for Dorothy. Stefani described the project as a "creative and modern take on a classic," and that "being part of something that blends music, emotion, and the character of Dorothy is inspiring."

Dorothy was created by Gina Matthews, who has produced projects like 30 Going on 30 and Holidazed over the years of her career. She shared the origin of the potential series, saying that she's "been in love with The Wizard of Oz books" since she was a kid, with qualities that "we need to get through hard times" and the central character "is a symbol of strength who shows us that with a little kindness — and a lot of grit — we can not only achieve great things but also lift up those around us."

At the time of writing, Dorothy is only in the development stage, so it'll be a while before the show is available with an Amazon Prime Video subscription, if at all. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have plenty of experience on a hit TV show. Both were longtime Coaches on The Voice, with Shelton holding the record for winning the most seasons with a singer. Shelton also has a new show coming to CBS' 2025-2026 fall TV schedule: The Road, on which he partners with Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan and country star Keith Urban.

Admittedly, neither music legend has a long list of scripted hits to their names, but they also won't be writing for Dorothy if it's ordered to series. Personally, I'm wondering if the show fitting into the contemporary genre means that it won't have the fantastical elements of the original story and adaptations like the original 1939 film and, more recently, Wicked.

Prime Video has dabbled in both the fantastical and the more realistic for projects within the young adult genre over the years, ranging from the fantasy retelling of the life of Lady Jane Grey with the short-lived My Lady Jane to the more reality-based The Summer I Turned Pretty, currently releasing its third and final season in the 2025 TV schedule.

For now, we can only wait for news about whether or not Dorothy moves past the development stage and gets closer to a series order from Prime Video.

One of the biggest criticisms The Voice has faced in its 14 years on the air is the fact that the show has failed to produce superstars of the same caliber as Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, etc., from American Idol. Michael Bublé is doing his part to change that, as he just made a huge gesture to help launch the career of The Voice Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez, proving that Bublé has taken a cue from Blake Shelton.

Sofronio Vasquez Is Releasing An EP Produced By Michael Bublé

Michael Bublé is gearing up to appear on his third straight season of The Voice when it returns to the 2025 TV schedule on September 22, but that’s not all he’s got going on. Sofronio Vasquez, who gave the Canadian crooner his first win on the show, made a big career announcement, telling The Filipino Times:

So not only will Michael Bublé produce his former team member’s EP, but the two will collaborate on a couple of songs, including a Christmas number that I’m assuming we’ll get a little closer to the holidays. Bublé isn’t the only big name Sofronio Vasquez is working with, either, as The Voice coach said on Instagram that music legends Paul Anka and David Foster helped to launch his career, and now he’s joining them to pay it forward for Vasquez. Bublé wrote:

This is a pretty huge deal, and nobody seems to understand that more than The Voice winner himself, who responded to his coach’s post by saying:

The mentors on The Voice have likely helped many artists during the course of the singing competition, but they're under no obligation to the budding artists past that. One former coach, however, is well-known for being that “sponsor” that Sofronio Vasquez talked about.

Michael Bublé Taking A Page Out Of Blake Shelton’s Book By Helping His Voice Team Member

Though the two coaches never crossed paths on the show, Michael Bublé’s willingness to help foster his team member’s career reminds me of how Blake Shelton is known for staying in touch with past contestants. The cowboy won The Voice nine times over the first 23 seasons of the show, but he likely changed the lives of many more. He’s dueted with former team members, brought them along on tour and given them the stage at his bar Ole Red.

Season 9 runner-up Emily Ann Roberts said following her stint in 2015, her former coach was making calls to get her meetings with industry execs, and she went on to open for Blake Shelton on tour. Season 21’s Lana Scott had a sweet run-in with Shelton at his bar once and has said she’s grateful for the “opportunities he’s given me at Ole Red and around the country.”

In fact, the country music star made such an impression on those he worked with on the show that all nine of his winners and several more team members showed up to pay tribute to him on his final episode of The Voice.

Michael Bublé showed hints that he was willing to follow a similar path on Season 27, when he gave parting contestants his phone number to stay in touch. I’m excited to see what he and Sofronio Vasquez do together and if the coach continues to be a mentor for others outside of the show.

The Voice Season 28 will be premiering on the 2025 TV schedule this fall on NBC, but it will once again be without Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 frontman returned to the singing competition series for Season 27 after departing ahead of Season 17. However, don't worry, he is returning as a coach on The Voice for Season 29. So, this makes me wonder: Could Blake Shelton, whose final season was in 2023, return at some point, too? Well, we might not have solid answers yet, but there is tea on the conversations allegedly being had about this topic.

Shelton and Levine became a fan-favorite duo on The Voice, and their bromance was certainly a highlight each season. They love their shenanigans probably almost as much as the fans love it, and even Levine was still taking shots at Shelton when he returned last season. Now, with the "Maps" singer returning once again, an insider told The U.S. Sun that producers tried to get the country singer back on board as well:

It’s unknown why it didn’t work out, especially with the reported big bucks offered. And I have to say, knowing that we were allegedly very close to having Levine and Shelton reunite for one more season of The Voice makes me sad. However, it also makes me hopeful for what lies ahead.

That's because this could also mean that this won’t be the last time NBC tries to make this reunion happen. Their bromance and rivalry with each other was arguably one of the best parts of the show. So, having them back together would be wildly entertaining and beneficial for both the series and fans, as the source alleged:

It definitely is hard to replicate that chemistry, and after Levine left the first time, it didn't feel the same with just Shelton. Of course, he started to have rivalries with other coaches, but what he had with Levine was special.

However, I have to admit, when Kelsea Ballerini replaced Shelton as Levine’s rival last season, it was unexpected, but hilarious to watch. Now, with the "Payphone" singer appearing on Season 29 with John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, it should make for a fun season since they're all long-time coaches. But a part of me will always want Blake Shelton to be there, too.

Even though the "God's Country" singer won’t be returning to The Voice as a coach anytime soon, there’s still the possibility he could make an appearance during Season 29. The Voice is getting a revamp for its upcoming season as it will see only three coaches competing and 30 total contestants going to the battle rounds, which will also bring back previous fan-favorites and former coaches such as Cee Lo Green. There are also probably other surprises in store, and one can only hope that Blake Shelton is one of them.

Whatever happens in future seasons of The Voice, it undoubtedly will be hard to recreate the bromance between Shelton and Adam Levine. So, I really hope that NBC manages to bring them back together again, even if it is for just one season.

I think it’s safe to say that nobody could have predicted that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani would fall in love and become one of the cutest celebrity couples back in 2014 when they met as coaches on The Voice. However, even more surprising than their love story may be how much Shelton relishes his role as stepfather to Stefani’s three sons. He showed major support for Zuma Rossdale’s budding country music career recently, but it was his comments about their home life that actually got me choked up.

Gwen Stefani shares three sons with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, and while all of the No Doubt and Bush singers’ progeny are musically inclined, they appear to be pursuing different genres. For 16-year-old Zuma Rossdale, that means following in the footsteps of stepdad Blake Shelton, and the “Austin” singer is doing his part to support his stepson by giving him a platform to pursue his dream — literally. Shelton was clearly proud to welcome Zuma to the stage of Ole Red recently, as you can see on Instagram:

I love him referring to Zuma Rossdale as an “up-and-comer” in the genre and sharing that he and Gwen Stefani keep encouraging the teen to perform more in front of crowds. It definitely seems like this audience was into his performance of John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold”:

Let’s just say that if Zuma Rossdale were on The Voice, Blake Shelton would have turned his chair for sure.

Blake Shelton Made The Sweetest Comment About His Relationship With Zuma

Ten-year-old Apollo plays the piano, his dad Gavin Rossdale has said, and 19-year-old Kingston is on the rock path, but for middle son Zuma, it’s all about country music. Lucky for the teen, he’s got Blake Shelton to share that passion, and lucky for Shelton, his stepson wants to! Shelton said Zuma works on his music every day, telling Taste of Country:

Thinking about Blake Shelton looking forward to going home each day so he can spend time listening to and playing music with his teenage stepson honestly gets me a little choked up.

The “Come Back as a Country Boy” artist once said that the best part of being married to Gwen Stefani was “lying down with her at night and then waking up and she’s there in the morning,” and this feels in the same vein as that.

It really gives a lot of context to why we’ll likely never see Blake Shelton return to The Voice, because it really sounds like everything he wants is right there at home with his wife and stepsons. As much as I’d love to see the cowboy reunite with Adam Levine on the singing competition, I think I love that for him even more.

The Voice coaches are well-known and loved for their hijinks, shenanigans and general tomfoolery. However, I think Blake Shelton and Adam Levine might take the crown for the best rivalry, as the friends (and occasional enemies) have spent years trolling and taking shots at each other on the singing competition. Well, now the Maroon 5 frontman has shared a story that further proves that point, as he recalled a prank the country singer pulled on him that involved $5,000 and a teacup pig.

Adam Levine was asked about the best pranks he and Blake Shelton had pulled on each other while eating hot wings on Hot Ones. In response, he told an absolutely bananas tale about buying what they thought was a teacup pig from the "God's Country" singer. The story began with:

He then continued to say that the “operative term” in this story is “stays little.” Now, remember that. They wanted a pig that was tiny and didn’t grow to be a full-sized pig.

OK, got that, good. Keep that on the back burner for later. For now, here’s how the story continued:

So, he paid his The Voice colleague the money, and then almost immediately regretted the purchase. The singer explained that the pig would scream a lot, and they “lasted like three weeks” with it. Ultimately, they gave the animal to a girl on a farm, and when she sent them pictures, they realized they had actually not bought a teacup pig, as Levine recalled:

Obviously, a phone call to Shelton followed. And in true friendly-fire fashion, he had quite the response to the "Moves Like Jagger" singer's reaction.

As you know, Shelton has a history of throwing shade at his fellow coaches, and the “Payphone” singer was hit with a lot of it. This story resulted in that kind of behavior too, as he explained:

He was right, according to PETA Australia and The Spruce Pets, teacup pigs don’t actually exist. And as this story showed, eventually that tiny piglet will grow into a big pig. So, after all that, Levine asked for the money back, and Shelton said no, putting quite the cap on this wild story.

All of this is honestly reminding me of the good ol’ days on The Voice. While Adam Levine did return as a coach for Season 27, which aired on the 2025 TV schedule, Shelton has been gone since 2023 and likely won’t be back anytime soon. So, the idea of seeing them back on screen together feels a bit far-fetched.

However, thankfully, we do still get stories like this from time to time. So, as Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé return to their red chairs for Season 28 of The Voice (which you’ll be able to watch on NBC or with a Peacock subscription), I’ll be hoping for more tales about pranks, shenanigans and hijinks pulled by and on the coaches.

It’s been 10 years since Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani went from coaches on The Voice to partners in life, and still it’s sometimes hard to believe the No Doubt rocker from Orange County fell in love with the country music star from Oklahoma. The couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary on July 3, and even though I’m swooning over Shelton’s adorable tribute to his wife on social media, I absolutely cannot get over Carson Daly’s comment.

Throughout Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship, the couple have taken every opportunity to rave about each other, so of course anniversaries are a big deal. After one year as a married couple, Stefani dropped a fun montage from their big day, and four years in, her husband shared to Instagram another gorgeous moment caught on camera:

That beautiful archway and scenic background is certainly not what I pictured when thinking about Blake Shelton’s ranch, but alas that is where his and Gwen Stefani’s 2021 wedding took place. Alongside the pic, the “God Gave Me You” singer called himself the "luckiest" guy to call Stefani his wife, writing:

It’s such a sweet, beautiful celebration of their love, so was there any doubt that Carson Daly would jump in to ruin the vibes? The Voice host was the only member of the NBC singing competition invited to the nuptials, and actually, Daly was the one who officiated the ceremony. That’s important to know when reading his comment on Blake Shelton’s anniversary pic, where he wrote:

Now I can’t be sure exactly why Carson Daly is invoking Johnny Cash by quoting lyrics from “Folsom Prison Blues,” but it feels par for the course of Daly’s rivalry with Blake Shelton that he would call the legal status of their marriage into question.

It’s so cute to see these two continuing to show love for each other. The only bad thing is that neither one of them is on The Voice anymore, so we don't get to see them as often. Carson Daly will be there, though, hosting a Season 28 coaching panel that features Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and defending champion Michael Bublé. It was so exciting for fans like myself who have been watching The Voice since the beginning to see Adam Levine return to Season 27, which recently ended its run on the 2025 TV schedule. However, it sounds like his time as a coach on The Voice may officially be over, as he allegedly “didn't enjoy” his comeback. Blake Shelton is apparently involved (as per usual), and the reason makes me both happy and sad.

Adam Levine’s most recent appearance on The Voice was his first time coaching in 10 seasons, as he joined John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé. These four music superstars may be close enough to have a group chat, but the Maroon 5 singer still apparently felt a Blake Shelton-sized hole in his experience. A source told The Sun:

Hearing that Adam Levine allegedly didn’t have as much fun this time around has me a bit conflicted. I hate that the experience reportedly wasn’t as fulfilling as he’d hoped, but I kind of love the fact that his friendship with Blake Shelton means so much to him.

If I’m being honest, I agree with him for the most part. For one, isn’t work always better when your bestie is there? I also loved seeing the OG coach’s swagger back on the show, and Adam Levine brought a legacy of winning that The Voice had been lacking. But it definitely wasn’t the same as the old days with Blake Shelton. Levine's feelings are no offense to the other coaches, the insider said, continuing:

I have little doubt that’s true. In a twist I didn’t see coming, Kelsea Ballerini ended up replacing the cowboy as Adam Levine’s frenemy. The two had a really enjoyable rapport together, but I just don’t know if it’s even possible to recapture the same magic that Levine and Blake Shelton had.

The Voice did give viewers a taste of what we wanted during the Season 27 finale. Blake Shelton returned to perform his new single “Texas,” and producers were kind enough to give us about a minute and a half of the former rivals trolling each other.

Carson Daly even asked Adam Levine if he thought the two might ever appear on the show together again. The Maroon 5 frontman said he was into the idea, but I’ll remain skeptical until I hear anything promising from Blake Shelton’s mouth.

One thing’s for sure — we know neither Blake Shelton nor Adam Levine will be back for Season 28. Michael Bublé — who won Season 27 with artist Adam David — will be the only holdover this fall, and he’ll be joined by Niall Horan, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire.

Keep your eye on the TV schedule for a premiere date, but if these reports are true, we may not see Adam Levine again for a bit.

The 2025 American Music Awards have come and gone, and many are still buzzing about the big night. However, not all of those reasons are positive. An aspect of the telecast, which aired this past Monday amid the 2025 TV schedule, that seemed to rub some viewers the wrong way was the presence of pre-taped performances. Two stars who did just that were Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Days after that, Shelton is now speaking out and responding to fans who took issue with him and his wife not actually being at the show.

How Were Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani Involved In The AMAs This Year?

The AMAs featured a number of live performances this year from artists such as Benson Boone, Reneé Rapp and Gloria Estefan. When it came to Blake Shelton though, attendees were treated to a pre-recorded video, in which he performed his hit song, “Stay Country or Die Tryin'”. During the show, some people in the audience began to post about the experience on social media. One fan posted about being confused while watching the pre-taped segment. So far, the former Voice coach has received a bit of flak. The same kind of comments he’s received were also leveled at Gwen Stefani. Amid the AMAs, she performed “The Sweet Escape” and “Swallow My Tears” in a pre-taped video, leading another TikTok user to share the following post:

Needless to say, some fans at the American Music Awards were not pleased with how those particular performances were handled. Of course, the “I’ll Just Hold On” singer has never been one to shy away from sharing comments on a situation like this. So it shouldn’t be all that surprising that he shared a response via social media.

What Did Blake Shelton Say About The AMAs Brouhaha?

Blake Shelton took to X to share his response to the criticism of his and his spouse’s performances at the AMAs. When it came to sharing his thoughts, Shelton didn’t joke or troll anyone. Instead, he shared a relatively straightforward response:

Per the country music singer’s comments, he and Gwen Stefani simply performed as requested. As of this writing, officials for the show itself have not spoken out about the decision to have the couple’s performances pre-recorded. The public may not have further specifics on the matter, but it is fair to say that the celebrity couple does remain busy.

Both Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have active music careers and continue to produce new tracks. Shelton, for his part, is also returning to TV, as he has a major title that’ll air as part of CBS’ schedule. He and Taylor Sheridan are teaming up for a new singing competition series called The Road, which is set to debut this fall amid the 2025 TV schedule.

As far as the AMAs situation goes, it seems Shelton has essentially washed his hands of it, based on his post. Whether his explanation brings any kind of comfort to fans hoping to see him and his wife perform their respective sets live, though, is hard to say.

The Voice Season 27 has wrapped on the 2025 TV schedule with a huge finale event that saw former coaches Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson return to The Voice to perform their new singles. If you watched the results show along with me, you know that I was pretty disappointed we didn’t get to see the two of them interact, given how much we loved their friendly rivalry. Clarkson, however, still pulled one over on the cowboy, trolling him in the cutest way.

Kelly Clarkson documented her return to the West Coast, where she performed “Where Have You Been,” the single off of her upcoming album that was inspired by Only Murders in the Building’s Martin Short. The video on Instagram made me surprisingly emotional, knowing it’s unlikely Clarkson will return as a coach. Check it out for yourself:

It seems like it was an overwhelming experience for her, which is understandable since she spent nine seasons with the show from 2018 to 2023. The adorable video showed her not being able to describe how she was feeling as she suited up in a gorgeous black sequined pantsuit complete with feathered wings draping dramatically from the sleeves.

Then there was the trolling.

As Kelly Clarkson walked around the studio she’s so familiar with, she couldn’t help but comment on the chair where we’re all accustomed to seeing Blake Shelton sit. As she walked toward it, she said:

She proceeded to climb in, coffee cup in hand, and looked extremely pleased with herself for ascending the throne:

I’m sure the “Since U Been Gone” singer meant no disrespect to Adam Levine, as she did call it Blake Shelton’s “old” chair, and the Maroon 5 singer himself has referred to it in such a way as he bemoaned the worst part of returning as a coach on The Voice after 10 seasons.

It was a little disappointing that we didn’t actually get to see Kelly Clarkson reunite with Adam Levine and/or Blake Shelton, but at least we got to see the OG coaches go at it like the olden days. Carson Daly even tried to keep hope alive that the cowboy might reunite with the Maroon 5 rocker in the Big Red Chairs one day.

I remain skeptical about Blake Shelton’s return, but with all the rumors floating around about Kelly Clarkson possibly wanting to end her daytime talk show, I can’t help but wonder if that might free up some time to pop back over to Los Angeles for a season of The Voice every now and then. Of course, the The Kelly Clarkson Show’s behind-the-scenes problems are all conjecture now, and there’s been no official word about what will happen when it comes time to renew her contract next year.

One thing is for sure: Neither Blake Shelton nor Kelly Clarkson (or even Adam Levine) will be amongst The Voice Season 28 coaches when the show returns this fall. Michael Bublé will try to get the hat trick against fellow undefeated two-time champ Niall Horan, and they’ll be joined by Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg. Stay tuned for a premiere date.

This will be the cowboy’s first in-person appearance on the show since the Season 23 finale, and I am craving some good Adam Levine bromance action. Welcome To The Voice Season 27 Finale Part 2!

Last night’s performance finale was packed with music, as each of the artists sang twice — one ballad and one up-tempo song. If you want my take on each performance, including my pick for who should win it all, relive that fun here:

Just a reminder as we get started, defending champion Michael Bublé was the only coach to have two artists in the finale. Tonight’s winner will be one of the following (listed from left to right in the photo below):

Each contestant will take the stage one last time tonight to perform a duet with their coach, but regardless of what happens from here on out, the results of Season 27 are in and sealed.

We’re kicking things off with an hourlong recap of last night’s performances before a two-hour finale packed with music. The Finalists Are In The Building!

Carson Daly checked in with the Top 5 ahead of the finale, so we know they're ready to go! Jaelen Johnston said he's most excited for tonight's performances, and apparently that will include a group number with the semifinalists!

Six of the artists who didn't make it to last night's episode were shown looking pretty spiffy, I must say, in black and white outfits for their upcoming group number.

BLAKE IS BACK! (And He Is Not Interested In 'Swingin')

Blake Shelton is officially back at The Voice! This is not a drill. Carson Daly caught up with the cowboy backstage, where he talked about the John Anderson song on Shelton's new album. The host asked if Shelton considered covering Anderson's hit "Swingin'," to which Shelton replied:

• I didn't think about doing "Swingin'." No. No.

That line of questioning isn't going to earn Carson Daly any points with Gwen Stefani.

Blake Shelton also confirmed he has already run into Adam Levine, and said the two have actually kept in close contact over the years since Levine was "fired." Ah, these guys.

Place your bets!

All season long we've seen Bryan Olesen, Season 25's third-place finisher, supporting his daughter Jadyn Cree, and I honestly can't imagine how proud he must be.

That said, what's the over/under on how many tearful dad moments we're going to see tonight? I think I'll be good for three before I start thinking about getting my own kids into singing competitions. And believe me, nobody wants that.

Bryce Leatherwood Hopes Tonight's Finalists Can 'Soak It In.'

Season 22 winner Bryce Leatherwood, who will perform tonight, offered some advice for the artists who are in the same position he was in just a few years ago, saying:

• Enjoy the moment. The Voice is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for so many people. Soak it in and enjoy it, and no matter what, you made it to the top.

That's a great point and great advice, but is it realistic? If it were me looking at a potential $100,000, I'd probably be shaking in a corner somewhere.

The Voice Finale Has Begun, And The Coaches Are Looking Good!

John Legend, Michael Bublé, Kelsea Ballerini and Adam Levine are officially seated for the results show, and they appear to have color-coordinated again. Tonight's color scheme is warmer than last night's black/gray, except for Levine, who went with a classic black suit. I guess that's as warm as he gets?

Foreigner’s Lead Singer Passes The Torch.

Kicking off a night of live performances, Foreigner took the stage for a medley of their hits. In an unexpected move, the lead singer announced he was retiring this year and welcomed his replacement Luis Maldonado to the stage to finish the set. Wow, what a way to pass the torch!

IT'S KELLLLLLLY!!!!

We certainly didn't have to wait too long for Kelly Clarkson to make her return. She is looking absolutely fantastic in a sparkling black pantsuit, and she sounds even better singing "Where Have You Been"!

It's like she never left. I wish she hadn't.

Please Tell Me That's Not All We Get Of Kelly Clarkson.

I guess it's typical that the finale performers don't stick around after they're done singing, but is it too much to ask to have Kelly Clarkson and Carson Daly catch up for a second? Please tell me that's not the only time we'll see her tonight!

John Legend Joins RENZO For Some Harry Styles.

In the first coach duet, RENZO took the stage with EGOT winner John Legend, and they sang a pretty great version of "As It Was" by Harry Styles. Carson Daly thinks the show is off to an awesome start, and I have no arguments after that performance.

The big question: Would upcoming Season 28 coach Niall Horan approve of the cover of his former bandmate?

Who's Here For Some Classic Country Around The Campfire? Me. It's Me.

We've got our second finalist/coach duet, as Kelsea Ballerini and Jaelen Johnston sat around a campfire to sing "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. I thought their voices blended so well, and I wouldn't be mad if they collaborated on a song together after this is all over. Wow!

OK, We're Keeping It Country With Bryce Leatherwood.

After Jaelen Johnston and Kelsea Ballerini twanged harder than should be allowed by law, The Voice finale kept the country spirit going with Bryce Leatherwood's homecoming performance.

Bryce Leatherwood, who won Season 22 (making him Blake Shelton's final champion) sang his single "God Made." Too bad we didn't get to see Leatherwood's reunion with his coach!

So That's What Chance The Rapper Sounds Like!

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, but I have to say, I think of any coach who's ever been on The Voice, I'm probably least familiar with Chance the Rapper's work. He took the stage to sing his song "Space & Time," and I found it super pleasant! Consider this a note to myself to dig deeper into his library.

Michael Bublé And Adam David Take A Load Off

I thought Adam David might make his Michael Bublé go hard blues for their duet, but alas they tackled "The Weight," which still fit David's voice perfectly. I approve.

Joe Jonas Is An Open Book. Or At Least He's Singing In One.

Nick Jonas may have been a coach on The Voice, but we got his brother Joe for the finale. Joe Jonas sang "Heart By Heart," and while some fans on social media seemed quite pleased, others questioned his decision to perform in an open book. Come on, guys, it's METAPHOR!

Adam Levine's Guitar Gently Weeps.

I wouldn't be surprised if I found out that Adam Levine's contract to return to The Voice included a clause that said he must be allowed to sing a Beatles song. That's not a complaint, just saying it's on-brand.

So the coach joined forces with Lucia Flores-Wiseman for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Her unique tone on that classic from The Beatles was something special.

Karate-Inspired Choreography For The Win!

The top 5 artists from Season 27 plus some other favorites from the season combined for a group number to Bastille's "Pompeii" to promote Karate Kid: Legends. The song was good, but I couldn't stop looking at the dancers around them.

They were flipping, kicking and punching in formation! I never thought about how well karate and breakdancing blended together. Do you think there's anything like that in Karate Kid: Legends?

Will Blake Ever Come Back To The Voice? Adam Has A Plan.

This is what we came for, right? We just got 90 seconds of Adam Levine and Blake Shelton doing nothing but bickering over Blake's chair and Adam's hair and whatever else.

Then Carson Daly was doing the Lord's work, asking:

• Carson: Do you think he'll ever come back to the show? What about you and Blake on this show again, will that ever happen?
• Adam: I think we should do it. I'm gonna take him out and get him drunk, see what happens.
• Carson: Have him sign something.

Look, I know it's unlikely that Blake will ever come back, and honestly it's cruel for Carson to tease us like this. But, man, they're not letting that door close, are they? Is it so bad to dream?

Michael Bublé And Jadyn Cree Go Full Sonny And Cher

Jadyn Cree leaned into her old soul again for a hit from decades past to sing with her coach. She was the Cher to Michael Bublé's Sonny for a rendition of "I Got You Babe."

Blake Shelton's Taking Us To Texas.

With under a half-hour to go before the Season 27 winner is announced, Blake Shelton has hit the stage to sing his latest single "Texas." What can I say? This song slaps.

RESULTS TIME!

Carson Daly has revealed that Jadyn Cree came in fifth place and Lucia Flores-Wiseman is the fourth-place finisher.

THE WINNER OF THE VOICE IS ...

ADAM DAVID!

Michael Bublé has officially gone 2-for-2, winning Season 27 with Adam David, the artist who was nearly eliminated in the Semifinals before getting the Instant Save from America.

Jaelen Johnston forgetting the lyrics in last night's performance didn't seem to deter many voters, as he came in second, and RENZO placed third.

Some Final Thoughts On The Voice Season 27 Finale:

Before we go, just a few more musings from the top of my head:

• Right after Carson Daly announced RENZO in third place, did anyone else see Adam David lean over to Jaelen Johnston and say, "What the fuck?" I mean, I'm no professional lip-reader, but ...
• I thought RENZO was going to win (obviously, that's what I said in last night's live blog, if you were so kind as to tag along). Adam David was absolutely deserving, but I would have to imagine John Legend is getting sick of losing with such high-caliber artists.
• A second-straight win from Michael Bublé sets up an interesting contest for Season 28. He and Niall Horan have coached two seasons apiece and they've each won them both. Who will win the battle of the undefeateds?
• I NEED MORE KELLY CLARKSON!

As I write this, voting has closed, and the results are being tallied to determine who will be named The Voice Season 27 winner on the live episode airing May 20 on the 2025 TV schedule. The contestants’ work was finished Monday, when they performed two songs during Part 1 of the finale (which I rated and gave my opinion on who should win), so now all that stands between them and The Voice trophy is a star-studded celebration that will include Kelly Clarkson making her return to The Voice.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer hasn’t coached on The Voice since 2023, when she returned to help bid Blake Shelton adieu on his final season (more on him in a bit), and while I am happy that Adam Levine has at least brought the legacy of winning back to the coaching panel, words simply do not express how much I’ve missed Kelly Clarkson. She promoted her comeback on Instagram Stories, posting:

The American Idol winner appeared on last season’s finale as well, as she took the stage to sing “You for Christmas” in 2024, and I am so excited for another chance to see the “guest artist.”

Kelly Clarkson will perform her new single “Where Have You Been” off her upcoming album. The ditty was inspired by Only Murders in the Building, or rather, a line that Martin Short’s character Oliver says to Meryl Streep’s Loretta on the murder mystery (available to stream with a Hulu subscription).

This season of The Voice has already been special, as it saw OG coach Adam Levine return after a 10-season hiatus. So, I could not be more pumped that we’ll get to see even more of the show’s best mentors return to the stage tonight, because in addition to Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton will also be back!

Kelly and Adam and Blake all in the same building? That’s like three-fourths of my Voice fantasy coaching team!

From what Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson have said, it sounds like they needed to distance themselves from The Voice for a bit following their final coaching gigs in 2023. The cowboy said he shut down for about a year after wrapping his 23-season run, while the talk show host has spoken candidly about how much she was struggling on the show before relocating her family (and The Kelly Clarkson Show) to the East Coast.

Given all that, I’m happy to have Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson back in any capacity, but it’s probably best that The Voice has already announced its Season 28 coaches, so I don’t start reading too much into their returns.

In addition to the two winningest coaches in the competition’s history, former mentors Alicia Keys and Chance the Rapper will also perform tonight, as well as Foreigner, James Bay with Sheryl Crow, Joe Jonas and Season 22 winner Bryce Leatherwood.

It all starts at 8 p.m. ET with a recap of last night’s performances before the two-hour celebration kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, May 20, on NBC and streaming the next day on Peacock.

Jimmy Fallon has been one of the best current late-night hosts for 11 years now, appearing nightly on the 2025 TV calendar to converse with fellow celebs. With the host’s background on Saturday Night Live and his overall exuberant personality, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon often features games, skits and lots of laughter. Perhaps too much laughter? Fallon has been accused of faking his amusement with guests, and Blake Shelton totally called him on it.

The country music star visited The Tonight Show to promote his new album For Recreational Use Only. Blake Shelton is no stranger to Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show, as this marked his 10th appearance, so I’m sure it was no shock when the host cracked up multiple times, doubling over in laughter and grabbing Shelton’s arm. As the singer talked about working with Post Malone last year, he realized there were similarities — and one big difference — between Malone and Fallon. Shelton deadpanned:

Dayyyum. Now, when Blake Shelton was a coach on The Voice, he was known to be quite the troll, but this is not a new criticism of the late-night host. In fact, it’s kind of fair. I don’t think I’ve ever watched Jimmy Fallon interview anyone without, at some point, him throwing his head back in laughter, clapping his hands or banging on his desk.

I’m definitely not saying all (or even most) of his laughs are fake, but I might say “performative” is a fair adjective. Look at recent guest Young Mazino from The Last of Us, for example. The actor looks far less amused by what he said than Jimmy Fallon:

Jimmy Fallon is known for his own hilarious quotes, and I love that he’s not afraid to show appreciation for others’ humor, like when he shared a knee-slapper with Sofia Vergara.

I also wouldn’t feel too sorry for Jimmy Fallon following Blake Shelton’s quip. The country music star may dish it out, but he can also take it (just ask Adam Levine, who has talked about how far was “too far” to push his fellow Voice coach). Shelton definitely thought Fallon was setting up for a joke when he described the new album cover:

• Jimmy Fallon: I think the album cover is cool. It's mysterious. You're, like, a stranger in a bar.
• Blake Shelton: Stop.
• Fallon: No, no, no.
• Shelton: What are you doing? Just say your joke. I know you’re building up to something.
• Fallon: No, you're, like, thinking. You're in front of a jukebox, there's a map behind you with, like, a whip. You're like Indiana Jones. You're deciding, ‘What song should I play next?’

It was then that Blake Shelton asked the band to start playing something so that Jimmy Fallon would have to stop dissecting the cover of his record.

Jimmy Fallon definitely seems to have fun as he talks to his guests, but after so many years of people calling him out for fake laughing, I am dying over Blake Shelton’s takedown.

It wasn’t hard to see in Blake Shelton’s final seasons on The Voice that the country music star was getting frustrated by some aspects of the show, but we may not have known the extent of what he was going through. He recently revealed it took him quite a while to get moving again following his exit after Season 23, so now that he’s got a new singing competition in the works, it’s so good to hear how motivated he sounds.

Blake Shelton Says He Was Burned Out After Leaving The Voice

Blake Shelton and Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan are combining forces for The Road (coming to the 2025 TV schedule as part of CBS’ fall lineup), which will give contestants the opportunity to open for Keith Urban on tour. It’s somewhat surprising that the cowboy would sign onto another singing competition after he’s made it pretty clear he’s not returning to The Voice. Shelton got real with People about just how exhausted he was after 23 seasons on NBC, saying:

Blake Shelton said he really — “and I mean really” — indulged in not being on television after giving up his spot as one of The Voice coaches. So should we be worried that he’ll face the same kind of burnout with The Road?

Blake Shelton Has Regained His Motivation To Help Up-And-Coming Singers

Leaving the NBC singing competition allowed Blake Shelton to focus on his wife Gwen Stefani and her three sons as they spent time on his Oklahoma farm. And while he’s still doing his own music, he said he’s been really mindful about the projects he agrees to. The “God’s Country” singer told People:

It’s so good to hear that Blake Shelton is feeling less pressure and having more fun with his music, and I absolutely love to hear how important it is to continue helping budding artists. That’s especially true given that his sentiment above is exactly the opposite of what he was saying in his final seasons of The Voice.

When giving feedback to his team members, he would say he had run out of advice to give after 23 seasons, and Gwen Stefani echoed those words when explaining the reason Blake Shelton left, saying, “there's only so many times you can repeat yourself.”

I absolutely love how motivated he sounds, especially knowing how far he’s gone to help his Voice team members even after their season had ended. That’s clearly a passion for him, and while it’s tough to hear how much he struggled to get back out there after The Voice, this makes me really excited to see what he can do for the hopefuls on The Road.

The 2025 TV schedule just got real interesting as CBS announced its primetime lineup for the ‘25-’26 season. After renewing nine shows at once, along with bringing a bunch of others back, CBS is also introducing some new projects, like Kayce’s Yellowstone spinoff and singing competition produced by Taylor Sheridan and starring Blake Shelton. Plus, we’re getting some exciting schedule changes, like a full night devoted to NCIS. So, let's break it all down.

CBS Confirms Kayce’s Yellowstone Spinoff Will Come Out In The Spring Of 2026

So, let’s start with the upcoming Yellowstone show. Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton in Y: Marshals, which is a working title. The series will follow the youngest Dutton as he “joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.”

At the end of Yellowstone, we left Kayce kind of on the Dutton Ranch after he gave most of it back to the Broken Rock people. According to this new show's synopsis, that ranch is “behind him,” and this new series will combine “his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana.”

Y: Marshals will join the CBS primetime lineup in the spring of 2026 in the 9 p.m. slot on Sunday, and it will be another addition to the growing list of Yellowstone shows, which includes upcoming projects like the Rip and Beth spinoff, Dutton Ranch, Michelle Pfeiffer’s The Madison and the prequel 1944.

For The First Time, A Full Night Will Be Dedicated To NCIS

For the first time ever, CBS is putting three of its NCIS shows on one night. Starting in the fall of 2025, the franchise will take up the entire 8-11 p.m. slot on Tuesdays.

This means Season 23 of NCIS will air at 8 p.m. It will be followed by Season 2 of NCIS: Origins at 9 p.m. Then, the day will end with Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney at 10 p.m.

So, if you love the world of NCIS, Tuesdays will be your night to tune in, because it’s all CBS will be airing.

I’m The Most Shocked By Taylor Sheridan Teaming Up With Blake Shelton

Now, the two aforementioned topics are massive news. However, I might be more shocked by a new show that was announced with this schedule.

Before Y: Marshals takes the stage on Sundays in the spring, The Road will air during that 9 p.m. slot this fall. This is a new singing competition produced by Yellowstone’s mastermind Taylor Sheridan, and it will feature Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Gretchen Wilson.

This will mark Shelton’s return to the world of singing competitions after his tenure as a coach on The Voice, and he’ll get to collaborate with Urban and Wilson, who are both dominant voices in the country music world.

Overall, this sounds epic, and considering the team behind it, I’m in shock and awe over this new show.

The Full CBS Lineup

Along with all of that, CBS did announce its full line-up, which included a handful of new shows that are worth mentioning. Along with The Road, the fall programming will include the Blue Bloods follow-up, Boston Blue, the first Fire Country spinoff, Sheriff Country, the Tom Ellis-led series CIA, and a new comedy called DMV. Meanwhile, the midseason premieres will include Harlan Coben’s Final Twist and America’s Culinary Cup, as well as the return of Watson for Season 2 after the Season 1 finale that will – to quote the showrunner – "go bang!"

Adding to the excitement, a ton of beloved shows, like Ghosts, Tracker and Fire Country, are returning too, and you can see CBS’s full 2025-2026 lineup below:

Overall, CBS’s lineup for the next season is thrilling, and I can’t wait for it.

However, we’ll have to wait a few months for it. Have no fear, though. Everything from CBS’s schedule this season is available with a Paramount+ subscription, so you have plenty of time to get caught up and stay entertained while we wait for this next season of programming.

Long gone are the days of Blake Shelton and Adam Levine hurling insults at each other on The Voice (at least face-to-face). That hasn’t happened since the Maroon 5 frontman left the show in 2019 (the cowboy followed suit in 2023). It’s something that we look back at fondly, but really, by the end fans had grown tired of their snide remarks. So did things ever go “too far”? Levine recalled the conversation he had with his on-air frenemy, including which one of them was more “sensitive” to the insults.

Adam Levine returned to the Big Red Chair for Season 27, currently airing on the 2025 TV schedule, and while it’s great to have a coach with multiple wins on the panel again, many fans are disappointed that we’re not getting the full Blake-and-Adam reunion. The rocker opened up about his dynamic with Shelton and said when the show started in 2011, he and Shelton even discussed how far to take their on-air rivalry. In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he said:

That’s actually pretty decent of Adam Levine to establish boundaries with Blake Shelton as far as when the jokes between them would stop being funny. The country music superstar gave a pretty on-brand response, too, as Levine continued:

It’s not all that surprising to hear that Adam Levine took the jabs more personally than Blake Shelton. The “God’s Country” singer did come off as way more laid back than the hot-headed rockstar who was prone to controversy on The Voice.

However, I do have to wonder if things shifted a bit for Blake Shelton when he started dating their fellow coach Gwen Stefani. One of the biggest points of contention seemed to be Adam Levine not getting invited to the couple’s wedding. He joked that he was going to crash the wedding and then object to the union, so I don’t exactly blame Stefani for tossing that invitation in the trash.

There were also rumors back during Adam Levine’s sexting scandal in 2023 that Gwen Stefani asked her husband to distance himself from the Maroon 5 singer; however, Adam Levine made an appearance on The Voice just months later to support Blake Shelton on his final episode.

According to Adam Levine, the four original coaches of The Voice formed a bond when they started this whole chair-turning experience. He said:

Indeed we do know, because many of us have been tuning in for 14 years and 27 seasons. The current coaches have a great rapport too, and Kelsea Ballerini has really stepped in to be Adam Levine’s frenemy. But I’m not sure we’ll ever get anything like what we had between him and Blake Shelton.

The latest episode of The Voice to air on the 2025 TV schedule recapped all of the performances that got us to where we are in this season's competition, and when the show returns April 28, it’ll be time for the Playoffs. The Voice coaches will have some help, as Sheryl Crow and LeAnn Rimes have been pegged as Mega Mentors, and it turns out the “All I Wanna Do” singer almost had a much larger role in the singing competition’s earlier days.

Adam Levine — who has made his comeback to The Voice’s Big Red Chairs for Season 27 — was among the OG coaching panel, along with Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. However, it seems the lineup almost included Sheryl Crow, who revealed per People that she was offered a spot but had to turn it down due to her family’s circumstances. She said:

Well, one certainly can’t blame her for wanting to maintain the lovely normalcy she was enjoying in Nashville. Now that her kids are older — Levi is 14, and her older son Wyatt is 18 — she was able to answer The Voice’s call.

In my very humble opinion, I think it all worked out for the best. I’m assuming Sheryl Crow would have taken the spot that was ultimately filled by Christina Aguilera, and I absolutely loved how fierce the “Dirrty” singer was as a coach.

Xtina also contributed to one of The Voice’s wildest moments when it became obvious she had a distaste for Season 2 Team Adam member Tony Lucca — who she knew from their days on the Mickey Mouse Club.

Sheryl Crow wasn’t the only iconic musician to turn down The Voice ahead of its 2011 premiere. Reba McEntire was offered first dibs on the chair that ended up going to Blake Shelton. I’d say that worked out OK too, given that Shelton turned into one of NBC’s biggest stars.

Now Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Reba McEntire have all come and gone, and Sheryl Crow will make her triumphant debut.

The “If It Makes You Happy” singer will serve as the mentor for Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini’s teams, while LeAnn Rimes will assist Adam Levine and John Legend. All five members of each team will perform in the Playoffs, with the coaches choosing just two apiece to advance to the Live Semifinals.

Adam Levine said the Knockouts are the hardest round of the competition, but the last time he was on The Voice, the Playoffs did not require coaches to eliminate over half of their teams in one fell swoop, so I fully expect him to change his stance on that next week.

As soon as news broke that Adam Levine was returning to The Voice for Season 27 on the 2025 TV schedule, fans began to wonder how that could happen without Blake Shelton. Their rivalry was so strong, it came to define NBC’s singing competition in its first 16 seasons. I certainly didn’t predict that Kelsea Ballerini would be the one to step in to check the rock star’s ego, but it turns out Levine clocked her “instantly” as his newest frenemy.

The chemistry between The Voice coaches this season is really enjoyable — they even have a group chat! — and just like Adam Levine and Blake Shelton became fast friends on Season 1 back in 2011, the Maroon 5 singer formed a quick bond with Kelsea Ballerini when they met at the start of Season 27. He told People:

However, it was when they joined John Legend and Michael Bublé to record their first coaches’ performance together that Adam Levine really realized who he was dealing with. He said he has a tendency to close off a little bit when singing those ensembles — “I go in my feelings, go inside a bit” — and Kelsea Ballerini apparently wasn’t having it. Levine recalled:

Kelsea Ballerini said she was surprised at how well she and Adam Levine got along, too, because Blake Shelton had warned her that the Maroon 5 frontman was “ruthless” and “mean.” On the contrary, the “Peter Pan” singer said she found Levine to be “lovely,” but that hasn’t stopped her from taking jabs at him.

On the second night of the Knockouts she joked that she’d never heard Maroon 5’s “Harder to Breathe” when Season 27 contestant Divighn covered it. Then on the April 14 episode she made fun of the phrase Adam Levine used to compliment Olivia Kuper Harris on her version of “Last Dance,” saying:

This is very reminiscent of the Blake Shelton vs. Adam Levine showdowns we used to see, and I’m kind of surprised that it’s coming from Kelsea Ballerini. It seemed like John Legend might be more suited for the rivalry, especially given the rumor that the EGOT winner was responsible for getting rid of Levine after The Voice Season 16.

It may be unexpected, but it’s not unwelcome. I actually love the friendship that’s formed between Adam Levine and Kelsea Ballerini, and I’m excited to see more of it as the Season 27 competition gets even hotter.

Next Monday, April 21, is a recap episode, and then at 8 p.m. ET April 28, the Playoffs begin on NBC (and streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription), with each team of five being reduced to only two. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.

With Adam Levine rejoining The Voice coaches for the season currently airing on the 2025 TV schedule, many fans are upset that fellow OG Blake Shelton isn’t back to trade barbs with him. The cowboy may have turned his chair for the last time, but it would seem his mentoring days are far from over. Season 9 contestant Emily Ann Roberts opened up about just how much her former coach has done (and continues to do) for her career, and I am blown away.

Blake Shelton has famously continued to help the artists from The Voice long after the cameras stop rolling — as pointed out by Kelly Clarkson in his final season — and Emily Ann Roberts can certainly attest to that. The country singer was just 16 when she finished in second place to Jordan Smith in 2015, and she told US Weekly Shelton hit the ground running after the finale. She said:

That is amazing how much effort Blake Shelton puts into artists he sees potential in, and she’s not the only one. Several Team Blake alumni have said they kept in touch with the “God’s Country” singer and played at his bar Ole Red, including Season 21’s Lana Scott, who had a sweet run-in with Shelton.

For Emily Ann Roberts, meeting the country superstar really has been life-changing, and 10 years later she’s as close as ever to her former coach. In fact, last year Blake Shelton invited her to open for him, and she played on his Friends and Heroes Tour this year too. She said watching him interact with the audience and make everyone feel like part of the experience is one of the biggest things she’s learned from him. It’s been an “invaluable” lesson, she said:

That is an incredible experience that Blake Shelton has given Emily Ann Roberts, and she seems to know it.

Of course the former Voice coach can’t take every contestant he’s ever worked with on the road with him — though maybe that’s part of the inspiration behind his and Taylor Sheridan’s new singing competition — but he does still appear to support many of them. Whatever effort he puts into it, I think it’s really cool, because he’s certainly not required to stay in touch with any of the singers from the show.

Blake Shelton and his former team members may be off doing their thing, but The Voice continues on NBC with new hopefuls, so tune in at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on NBC and streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription.

It’s been fun watching Adam Levine’s return to The Voice — not only for his legacy of winning but for the competitive edge that was lost a bit when Blake Shelton hung up his hat. It’s a shame the two can’t go head-to-head on the 2025 TV schedule like they used to, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the Maroon 5 singer from talking trash. Levine was at it again on the March 24 episode, but I was surprised when Michael Bublé revealed a legitimate reason for holding a grudge against the cowboy.

Adam Levine Throws Shade At Blake Shelton After Country Singer’s Battle

Adam Levine threw his team member Trevon Dawson a bit of a curveball on Night 3 of the Battles when he asked the country music singer to duet with Tyler Kae on Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You.” The Voice coaches ended up really liking his countrified version, too, with Michael Bublé going so far as to wonder if the rock star coach was the “new king of country.”

John Legend and Kelsea Ballerini noted that Blake Shelton must be rubbing off on Adam Levine, as Levine now sits in the chair long held by the country superstar. However, the Maroon 5 frontman didn’t think the cowboy would approve of him giving Trevon Dawson a pop-rock song, as he said:

At least Adam Levine picked Trevon Dawson as the winner of the Battle, so we’ll see if he might actually get to sing in his genre as the competition progresses. You can see his and Tyler Kae’s performance below:

That wasn’t the only mention of Blake Shelton on this episode, either. After Adam Levine reveled in being able to talk trash even without the cowboy around, Michael Bublé shared his own Shelton-related frustrations.

Michael Bublé Reveals The Issue He Has After Blake Shelton Covered His Song

Blake Shelton bid farewell to The Voice two years ago, yet he got another mention on the third night of Battles. Michael Bublé gave his team members Adam David and Ricardo Moreno his own song, “Home,” but mentioned that there’s been a misconception about the ditty from fans. Bublé revealed to the Team Michael singers:

He then let out a cry of frustration, and I totally get it. “Home” became one of Michael Bublé’s biggest hits when it was released in 2005, so it must be such a blow to the ego to hear fans giving his due credit to Blake Shelton for his 2008 cover.

That’s a way bigger reason to hold a grudge than anything Adam Levine has on Blake Shelton, though Michael Bublé doesn’t really seem like a “grudge” type of guy.

We’ll have to see if any more interesting stories pop up about the country singer, but either way, the competition will continue at 8 p.m. ET next Monday, March 31, on NBC and streaming with a Peacock subscription.

The best music has a way of evoking an emotional response in its listeners, whether that’s nostalgia, excitement or any number of feelings. Country music is no different, but it does have a certain reputation for its heartbreaking anthems. Blake Shelton — who has a new singing competition coming this fall to the 2025 TV schedule — may have just one-upped the entire genre with his latest release that had Gwen Stefani unable to stop crying and allegedly caused one label executive to have a heart attack.

“Let Him in Anyway” was officially released last week and will be a single on Blake Shelton’s upcoming album For Recreational Use Only. The song reportedly struck a chord with wife Gwen Stefani (whose relationship with Blake Shelton started after they met on The Voice ), as Jon Loba, the president of Frontline Recordings, North America told American Songwriter:

That’s pretty intense, not only that the song was sad enough to make the No Doubt frontwoman — who married the country singer in 2021 — cry all her makeup off before an event, but that she thought it was good enough to listen to repeatedly after having that reaction.

So what is “Let Him in Anyway” about? The lyrics reference the death of a loved one who “wasn’t quite the Christian he was supposed to be,” with the singer praying that his friend be allowed into heaven anyway.

That is some heavy stuff, and it would seem Chris Oglesby, the senior vice president of creative at BBR Music Group, would agree. Jon Loba recalled playing the song for Oglesby privately, as the VP was dealing with personal issues including the death of his brother-in-law, and it sounds like they had the same reaction as Gwen Stefani, with Loba saying:

Jon Loba then played it for someone else, and Chris Oglesby came in to listen again but reportedly jumped up in the middle of it and ran out of the office. Loba said he thought Oglesby had been overcome by emotion, but a few minutes later he got a call from a general manager who said Oglesby thought he was having a heart attack and they were on their way to the hospital. Loba continued:

That's the kind of story that seemingly could inspire a great country music movie!

So did “Let Him in Anyway” really cause the executive’s heart attack? Chris Oglesby apparently thinks so. He said he felt some “flutters” in his heart a couple of times earlier in the week, but the extreme emotion from Blake Shelton’s song pushed him over the edge. “But luckily not too far,” Jon Loba added. Oglesby is reportedly feeling “better than ever” in the weeks since, but hopefully he’s been sticking to the happier tunes in the former Voice coach’s catalog.

Fans have certainly had a lot of thoughts about Adam Levine’s return to The Voice, as Season 27 nears the end of its Blind Auditions on the 2025 TV schedule. The “She Will Be Loved” singer has great chemistry with fellow coaches John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé (they even have a group chat, guys). However, there’s just one thing Levine’s not happy about, he said, and of course it involves his old rival Blake Shelton.

As fun as it is to see Adam Levine bonding with the other coaches on The Voice, there’s a part of me that misses the snippy insults launched back and forth between him and Blake Shelton over the competition’s first 16 seasons. But just because the cowboy is retired from the show doesn’t mean he’s not catching strays. Levine proved that old habits die hard when talking to Kelsea Ballerini during the February 24 episode. The new coach revealed that she’d been warned about Levine, telling him:

First of all, it’s absolutely hilarious to think that Blake Shelton would tell Kelsea Ballerini that in any serious context, and Adam Levine apparently felt the same way. He thanked her for the compliment but suggested there was no way Shelton really meant that. He said:

Adam Levine kind of went from suggesting Blake Shelton wouldn’t actually say something negative about him to joking that the country music star was a bad person. The Maroon 5 frontman had similar sentiments ahead of filming. When news broke of Levine’s impending return, he trolled the cowboy by saying the best part of coming back for Season 27 was that he wouldn’t have to deal with Shelton.

So if that’s the best part, what’s the worst part? Adam Levine told Kelsea Ballerini:

Ah yes, Adam Levine has taken over Blake Shelton’s old chair — which has become the most revered spot on the panel, previously held only by the “Boys ‘Round Here” singer and Reba McEntire. Levine made another contradictory comment about Shelton on the season premiere, admitting to John Legend that when he walked on stage, he’d initially started heading to his old spot, which he vacated after Season 16. As he took his place in his new chair, he mused:

It seems pretty obvious that that’s just how the two singers show their love for one another. Blake Shelton also continued to fire shots at Adam Levine long after the rocker left the show, but it was nothing but love when Levine returned for Shelton’s final episode.

The days of Adam Levine and Blake Shelton being on set together are likely gone for good, but it looks like the insults back and forth aren’t going anywhere. Fans have been loving Adam Levine’s return to The Voice since Season 27 premiered on the 2025 TV schedule, and as a fan from the very beginning, I’m right there with them. The Maroon 5 frontman has always brought some rock star swag that has, at times, led to some of The Voice’s more controversial moments, but these days he’s less about the rivalries and more about the group chat. However, the best thing about his comeback, in my opinion, is that he brings something the show has been missing since Blake Shelton left — a legacy of winning.

In Blake Shelton’s 23 seasons, he won the show nine times, and Kelly Clarkson has four victories. That’s 13 wins between just the two of them — half of the show's 26 completed seasons. The fact that the other 13 seasons are spread amongst 20 other coaches of The Voice means that there aren’t a lot of mentors out there winning multiple seasons. Thank goodness for the Season 27 contestants, Adam Levine is one of them.

The Voice Hasn’t Had A Coach With More Than One Win Since Season 23

With Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson both exiting The Voice after Season 23 — likely for good, too, with John Legend saying the cowboy has no plans to return and Clarkson revealing how much she struggled in her final seasons — no coach has had more than one win since filming wrapped in May 2023.

In fact, the only other coaches besides those two who can boast more than one victory are Niall Horan (Seasons 23 and 24) and Adam Levine (Seasons 1, 5 and 9). That is a huge deal for the current batch of contestants, and they seem to understand that.

On the first night of Blind Auditions, Darius J. had a choice between Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé. When host Carson Daly asked why he’d chosen to join Team Adam, Darius J. said:

It was so refreshing to hear one of the contestants say that, because no mentor has had a real edge over his compatriots in that way in a while. We’ve seen artists choose the coach who best suits their genre or who wanted the chance to work with Reba McEntire or Snoop Dogg, and while I certainly won’t blame them for that, I missed having artists choose a coach because they’ve seen them take their team to the finish line time and again.

Looking at the way teams are forming so far, I’d say Darius J. is far from the only artist coming in with hopes of getting the Maroon 5 singer to turn.

Adam Levine Is Winning The Majority Of Artists He’s Turned For

Those who have watched the first three episodes of Season 27 can tell that John Legend is a bit perturbed by Adam Levine threatening his position as King of the Four-Chair Turn. (Episodes are available to stream with a Peacock subscription if you do need to catch up.) When all four coaches turn their Big Red Chairs, the power goes back to the artist, who then gets to choose which team to join.

Of the six Four-Chair Turns through the February 17 episode, Adam Levine has closed the deal four times to John Legend’s two (and Levine was blocked from getting one of those). But Levine’s dominance goes further than that.

Not counting the two times Adam Levine has been blocked, he’s hit his button for 12 artists through three episodes, and he’s gotten eight of them. That’s a 67% success rate! Let’s look at that compared to the other Season 27 coaches (again, without counting blocks against their percentage):

• Adam Levine: 8 artists, 12 chair turns (67%)
• John Legend: 6 artists, 13 chair turns (46%)
• Kelsea Ballerini: 7 artists, 16 chair turns (44%)
• Michael Bublé: 6 artists, 21 chair turns (29%)

Adam Levine has the confidence and the history to get who he wants, and he proved it when he whipped out his resume to woo Four-Chair Turn Conor James on the February 17 episode. Following James’ rendition of “I Say a Little Prayer,” Levine told him:

OK so Adam Levine just called his shot. I’m excited to see if he really did see something in the singer that will get them to the end together. Oh yeah, and it might go without saying after that hard sell, but Conor James did choose the Maroon 5 rocker’s team.

Adam Levine might not have needed to put in such effort to win the artist, because Conor James said he’d planned to pick Team Adam if given the chance, but I absolutely think Levine should be reminding the auditioners of his success on the show every chance he gets.

I think The Voice Season 27 is off to a great start, and I absolutely love that Adam Levine has brought a winning legacy back to the NBC singing competition. Will he bring it home again and tie Kelly Clarkson for four wins overall? So far the momentum seems to be swinging in his direction.

Adam Levine may not think The Voice is a competition show anymore, but if it is, I’d say he’s winning it — just like he did in the past. New episodes of The Voice air at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on NBC and streaming the next day on Peacock.

The Voice’s 27th season is set to premiere on the 2025 TV schedule in a few days, and while it will be fun to see Adam Levine return to the singing competition, long gone are the days of his rivalry with Blake Shelton — and the cowboy’s rivalry with Kelly Clarkson as well. The longtime friends — and winningest coaches on The Voice — are long gone from the show now, but Gwen Stefani revealed she was once jealous of Clarkson, and she explained how that jealousy led her to start writing music again.

Now let’s not get the wrong impression: Gwen Stefani was not jealous of Kelly Clarkson’s longtime friendship with her husband. The American Idol OG champ and the No Doubt frontwoman became friends because Clarkson and Blake Shelton were close, and, of course from their time on The Voice together. And when everyone was trying to figure out how to do life in 2020, Stefani didn’t understand how Clarkson was finding time to still be creative. Stefani said in an interview on Today with Hoda and Jenna:

With hindsight being 20/20 (how’s that for a pandemic pun?), we know now that Kelly Clarkson was pouring a lot of pain into her writing around that time, as she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June of that year. Also, she was sacrificing sleep in order to write music and still do all of the things Gwen Stefani was doing, like raising her kids. (The status of Clarkson’s sourdough starter is unknown.)

But you’ve got to take inspiration where you can get it, and if that was the kick in the pants Gwen Stefani needed, I’m glad it worked. While the three sons Stefani shares with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale were always her priority, it made a difference to remember to do something for herself, she said:

Gwen Stefani released her fifth solo studio album Bouquet in November 2024 — her first since 2017 — and while we most assuredly have Blake Shelton to thank for inspiring some of the music, it sounds like their friend Kelly Clarkson deserves her flowers too.

These three former coaches won’t be on The Voice this season (or possibly ever again, when it comes to Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson), but you can still tune in for the Season 27 premiere at 8 p.m. ET Monday, February 3, on NBC and streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription.

The Voice, one of my favorite competition shows, is premiering on the 2025 TV schedule next week, and it’s bringing back an original coach. That’s right, Adam Levine is back in one of those massive swivel chairs, and while Blake Shelton won’t be back with him, of course he talked about his longtime adversary and great friend on the show.

Ahead of the NBC series coming back this Monday, Adam Levine was asked about how it feels to return to the show over five years after saying goodbye. Here’s how Blake’s name came up:

Did anyone else see this a mile away? It feels like you just can’t have Adam Levine without Blake Shelton. And while Season 27 will in fact prove that Adam Levine can coach without his beloved frenemy, he couldn’t help but poke fun at the country star once again. As he continued to People:

It’s a solid approach. Now that Adam Levine is on the show sans Blake, he has the mic, and Blake Shelton can’t defend himself or quip back. Of course, Adam and Blake’s jokes between one another have always been playful and built on their amazing chemistry, so honestly, it’s going to be weird at first to have the Maroon 5 singer without his biggest competition.

Adam Levine will be a coach alongside Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend. It was announced over the summer that Levine would return for Season 27. The upcoming season is Ballerini’s first season as coach, Bublé’s second, and John Legend’s ninth season. (They even have a group chat together already!) Legend’s first season was actually Levine’s last before Season 27 – so the pair have been coaches at the same time before.

When Levine spoke further about his return to The Voice, he shared that it’s already “really great to be back” after he had a much needed break. Levine had been on the show for sixteen seasons over eight years when he left and he’s enjoyed spending more time with his family, going on tour, and making music.

Levine has said that he doesn’t see The Voice “as a competition anymore,” but rather an “opportunity for us to share our experiences with the people on the show,” so perhaps we won’t see him as competitive as he was on prior seasons.

The singer has won three seasons, which stacks pretty well next to Legend’s sole win in Season 16 and Bublé’s sole win last season, but not at all next to Blake Shelton being The Voice champion with nine wins over the years. When Levine was asked if he’ll have another adversary this season, he said this:

Levine also called his chemistry with Shelton “unplanned” and “spontaneous”. Of course there’s rumors that Levine’s return to the show could bring back Blake Shelton, but I’m just excited to see this specific dynamic play out. I know I can’t wait to watch on Mondays or stream the next day with my Peacock subscription.

The Voice wrapped an emotional 26th season last week, with Sofronio Vasquez nabbing a deserving victory for himself and his coach Michael Bublé. Now, as we start to look ahead to the 2025 TV schedule, there’s much speculation about which of the mentors might return to the Big Red Chairs in Season 28 and beyond. After Snoop Dogg addressed his future on The Voice at the finale, a source is alleging that Gwen Stefani may be following in her husband’s footsteps and calling it quits.

Lots of tears were spilled by the coaches of The Voice this season, with Uncle Snoop breaking down on a number of occasions and tissues regularly being passed back and forth amongst the panel members. The show is often an emotional experience for its coaches — so much so that Ariana Grande said she couldn’t do it again — but something about Gwen Stefani’s eighth turn as a coach seemed to really affect her, as an insider told The Sun she was “crying a lot this season.” The source continued:

Apparently Gwen Stefani was crying a lot of happy tears, but was she simply being present for her team members, or was she getting emotional because she was already thinking about leaving the show again? The insider pointed out that the No Doubt singer hasn’t made any official decision regarding her future with The Voice, but there’s a chance Blake Shelton might play into it when she does. They said:

I’m sure Gwen Stefani has been enjoying having her husband of three years Blake Shelton around more often since he left The Voice after Season 23, and maybe she is looking to spend more time with him (or even to hit The Road with him on his upcoming singing competition).

However, would that really keep her from returning to The Voice? Blake Shelton’s been gone for three seasons, and his wife has coached on two of them. Shelton once said Gwen Stefani had even worried that the show wouldn’t want her after he was gone, so I wonder why that would influence her decision now.

The only thing we really know for sure is that of the Season 26 coaches, Michael Bublé is the only one guaranteed to be coming back. He will try to defend his victory in Season 27 against John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini and returning OG coach Adam Levine. We don’t have too long to wait for that fun to begin, either, because The Voice is set to return to NBC on Monday, February 3.

Gwen Stefani is in the process of wrapping up Season 26 of The Voice on the 2024 TV schedule right now, and her husband Blake Shelton has some coals in the fire as well. However, he’s been “very mindful” about which jobs he takes since leaving the singing competition. While these two are often couples goals — the cowboy can really lay on the charm — it sounds like one aspect of his career actually makes Stefani quite “irritated” with him.

Blake Shelton is set to kick off a residency in Las Vegas in February. … Or maybe I shouldn’t call it that, given the conversation he had on Jimmy Kimmel Live! involving how much time he’s actually spending in Sin City. When Kimmel inquired about his residency at the Coliseum in Caesar’s Palace, the “Come Back as a Country Boy” singer laughed as he said:

I’m totally picturing Gwen Stefani as Crocodile Dundee telling Blake Shelton, “That’s not a residency. THIS is a residency!” There are fewer knives in my mind movie.

The fact of the matter is that Blake Shelton is playing six nights from February 5 to 15, so he’s not even spending a full month in Las Vegas. You can especially see why Gwen Stefani would take issue with him calling it a residency given just how many concerts she played during her own stint. The country music star hilariously added:

It sounds to me like Blake Shelton was right to correct Jimmy Kimmel about calling it a residency, as the late-night host pointed out he watched more of Gwen Stefani’s residency than he is actually doing himself.

Fans have always been fascinated by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship, partly because the 48-year-old country singer doesn’t seem like a conventional match for the fashionable 55-year-old ska rocker. (She did apparently tell him at the beginning that a romance was “not happening.”)

It’s also because we really did get to see their love blossom in front of our eyes, as they met as coaches on The Voice and continued to appear on various seasons together until the cowboy ultimately left the show in 2023. We’ve seen so many adorable moments between the two, and maybe that’s why it’s so funny to hear about the things that actually drive them nuts about each other.

Blake Shelton may not be willing to commit to a longer residency, but he’s got plenty going on, including a recent collaboration with Post Malone, a new single titled “Texas,” and a duet with Gwen Stefani on her new album Bouquet. He’s also returning to the singing competition arena, just not with The Voice. He’s teamed up with Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan for THE ROAD, which will air on CBS as part of the 2025 TV schedule, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Despite the undeniable talent of The Voice artists competing in the Season 26 Playoffs on the 2024 TV schedule right now, it can be argued how successful the show has been in launching the careers of its contestants. One thing is for sure, though — it’s responsible for a pretty successful love story between two of its coaches. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been married for over three years, after first meeting on set of the NBC singing competition in 2014, but the No Doubt singer apparently once told the country star the workplace romance was “not happening.”

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship is something of a romantic comedy, as neither knew who the other was when they met as coaches on The Voice in Season 7. He only knew her as “the girl that holds up the orange” on the Tragic Kingdom album cover, and she thought his country twang was “so fake.” Both were going through divorces at the time — Stefani with Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale and Shelton with his own very high-profile split from Miranda Lambert, and the No Doubt singer didn’t want more drama. She told People:

I can definitely understand, with everything Gwen Stefani was going through, her not wanting to deal with the media frenzy that was guaranteed to accompany the unlikely relationship between her and her colleague.

If we know anything, though, it’s that Blake Shelton can lay on the charm, and it turns out he knew exactly the right move to win Gwen Stefani over — through songwriting. She said the country star knew how fulfilling that process was for her, so he sent her the beginnings of what would be their first duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” She continued:

The couple went public in November 2015, and “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” may have been their first collaboration, but it was far from their last. Most recently Blake Shelton can be heard on “Purple Irises,” a song off of Gwen Stefani’s new album Bouquet, and I’m glad these two fought through their chaotic early meeting to be together.

Today, Blake Shelton is very mindful about his career decisions after leaving The Voice in 2023 after 23 seasons. Gwen Stefani, meanwhile, can be seen on Season 26, with new episodes airing at 8 p.m. ET Mondays and 9 p.m. ET Tuesdays on NBC and streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription.

He formed great friendships with people like Carson Daly, who would go on to officiate his wedding to Gwen Stefani — who he might not have ever met if not for the show. The country music singer playfully feuded with Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, and he bonded with Niall Horan on a father/son level.

The show also introduced him to a new audience who hadn’t heard him on country music radio. Blake Shelton called The Voice “the biggest, most important career move of my life,” and he remains thankful to everyone there for where he is today. However, it doesn’t sound like he misses it. He continued:

That’s not to say he can’t combine the two things. Blake Shelton has signed on for another singing competition, partnering with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan for THE ROAD on CBS. The series will see the country music singer hitting the road, with competitors serving as his opening acts in hopes of connecting with the locals and maintaining a spot on his tour.

Blake Shelton may not be returning to The Voice, but we are getting one OG coach back. When Season 27 premieres on the 2025 TV schedule, Adam Levine will sit alongside John Legend, Michael Bublé and newcomer Kelsea Ballerini, so I’m sure there are plenty of wild moments ahead.

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine haven’t been coaches on The Voice together since Season 16, after which the rocker walked away from the show. The year was 2011, and oh my gosh Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were just BABIES! It’s fun to see them back when they were still best buds, too — with the country music star shown kissing the “Sunday Morning” singer on the forehead — rather than the frenemies they later became, all insults and F-bombs.

While Blake Shelton wasn’t involved in Adam Levine’s wildest moments on the singing competition, the rivalry between the two is one of most widely known aspects of The Voice’s history. Of course the two always were competitive with each other while trying to win the show, but things took more of a personal turn when Shelton started dating their fellow coach Gwen Stefani.

The Maroon 5 frontman seemed to take exception with not being invited to their wedding — Carson Daly was the only member of The Voice family to receive that honor — and he threatened to crash the wedding and object to the union.

I’m sure no offense was taken on either side in the long run, as Adam Levine showed up to honor Blake Shelton on his final night on The Voice, and there are even rumors that Levine is trying to get Shelton back on the show for a reunion.

Only time will tell if that dream becomes a reality; the “Texas” singer previously said he’d only return if all four Season 1 coaches came back, and last we heard from Christina Aguilera on the topic, she had some choice words about her experience. That’s precisely why we just have to enjoy the time we got with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and the fun little moments — like the one above — that the two have shared.

When Adam Levine does make his big comeback in spring 2025, he’ll be sitting alongside John Legend, newcomer Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé, who’s honestly been my favorite part of Season 26 so far. Blake Shelton, meanwhile, is teaming up with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan for a new singing competition called THE ROAD that’s set to debut on CBS in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Blake Shelton solidified himself as a beloved member of The Voice’s panel of coaches during his 23-season run on the show. That’s a major reason why so many people were saddened when Shelton decided to exit the show. As of right now, it doesn’t seem like he has any plans to return to the NBC staple either. However, fans of the veteran singer now have something exciting to look forward to on the 2025 TV schedule. As it turns out, Shelton is joining a new singing competition, and there’s a major TV producer in the mix as well.

It’s been announced that CBS has given the green light to THE ROAD, a new singing competition series that’s set to debut in the fall of 2025. The show will see singers joining Blake Shelton (who also serves as an executive producer) on tour, during which they’ll serve as opening acts for him. The goal for contestants will be to find favor with the local fanbases in order to keep their spot on the ongoing tour. Joining Shelton as a producer on this endeavor is none other than Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.

A production like this one marks a significant shift for Taylor Sheridan, who’s mostly known for crafting scripted dramas like the aforementioned western series as well as Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King and Lioness. Nevertheless, based on a statement that Sheridan shared upon the announcement of THE ROAD, he’s excited to dive into this genre of TV. The writer, director and producer had this to say about his latest gig:

Likewise Blake Shelton is also excited to be in business with the Lawmen: Bass Reeves executive producer. The “God’s Country” singer shared some enthusiastic thoughts of his own upon the announcement:

Blake Shelton’s reasons for leaving The Voice after 23 seasons (and about 12 years) were quite clear. As his wife, (and former fellow coach) Gwen Stefani, even explained, he essentially wanted more time to spend with his family and to pursue other projects. So some might be a little surprised that he’s opted to take on yet another TV-related venture. However, based on this premise of his upcoming show, this particular program will allow him to keep working on a show all while continuing to tour.

All in all, the basis of this production does seem interesting, and it could be quite refreshing within a singing competition landscape that’s become somewhat confined to certain expectations. Whether this ends up being one of Taylor Sheridan’s best TV shows is hard to say right now. However, with an interesting concept and some serious star power behind the scenes, this series certainly has the potential to be something special.

When The Voice returns to NBC on the Fall TV schedule in 2024 and for the foreseeable future, it won’t feature Kelly Clarkson, who seemed to permanently end her successful coaching career when her talk show moved to New York City from L.A. But that doesn’t mean she’ll be done talking about her co-stars from the hit series anytime soon, and she amusingly revealed an advantage she’s long had over her male counterparts.

When it comes to potentially avoiding a ton of public attention from fans, Clarkson is apparently able to enter stealth mode far easier than coaches such as Blake Shelton and John Legend. Speaking with the Associated Press, Clarkson was asked if rumors were true about her being a frequent subway rider, and whether she gets recognized. In her words:

The act of getting dressed up and made-up can be the bane of any female’s existence, but Clarkson spoke to the specific advantage that celebrities have in that department. If she’d hit the subway with her hair and makeup in full bloom, there’d be no mistaking her. But without those signature features that play up the American Idol winner’s glamor, her biggest giveaway is that Southern twang. If only she was perfect at impersonating others.

Clarkson continued, specifically addressing her former Voice cohorts, neither of whom will be involved with the newest season. As she put it:

No matter how much makeup and hair product one would apply to Blake Shelton, I can't imagine a universe where it would be successful at making him unrecognizable. Maybe if he had a different kind of hat beyond a cowboy hat or baseball cap, and had full-color face makeup like wrestlers and clowns wear. But he might not want to go through all those lengths.

Another show Kelly Clarkson won't be popping up on is American Idol, though she recently shared her thoughts about Carrie Underwood joining the show for the judge slot vacated by Katy Perry. Previously, Clarkson denied wanting to vie for, given all of the other gigs she’s got on her plate, and I can't imagine anyone would blame her.

I also can't imagine joining Idol would make the musician more recognizable than she already is. So here's hoping she can continue to have peaceful subway rides now that this info is out there.

You don't have to be a diehard fan of pop music or professional football to frequently hear the latest on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship, as the two celebrities have been enjoying each other's company very publicly over the past year. Everybody from longtime Swifties to Flavor Flavor himself has a take, and all the public scrutiny hasn't seemed to sour their relationship. Blake Shelton, who knows a thing or two about very public celebrity relationships, recently revealed that he's a fan of how the duo are handling everything.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's relationship is in fact a product of a project that increased their fame beyond their music careers, as the two were fellow coaches on The Voice for years before getting married. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Shelton heaped some praise on Swift and Kelce for how they're handling their romance:

A romance doesn't get much more public than Travis Kelce walking out on stage during one of Taylor Swift's appearances on the Eras Tour to actually participate, which was pretty sweet in itself and caused a lot of reactions from fans. Jason Kelce, a former NFL star himself and Travis' brother, did comment on rumors about the pair by saying that he has "to be conscious of how you’re saying things" because it's "under such a microscope." Blake Shelton went on:

Valid point from Blake Shelton, because who wouldn't want to brag about any association with Gwen Stefani? The couple has certainly been pretty open about their relationship, including releasing some stunning photos of their wedding. Now that the two have been married for just over three years, Shelton has some expertise in what makes a celebrity couple work in the limelight. He finished his thoughts on Swift and Kelce, saying:

The pair have plenty of accomplishments to celebrate, with the incredible success of the Eras Tour for Taylor Swift (not to mention using her fame to motivate people to register to vote) and a Super Bowl win for Travis Kelce over the past year. Swift's support has also increased the fandom for the Kansas City Chiefs, to the point that Swifties showed up at training camp to watch Kelce. Swift has also already turned up at Chiefs games in the new NFL season to show her support.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is currently on a break until she's back on stage in Miami on October 18, so perhaps she'll have time to attend more NFL games. (Fans can also watch her concert film streaming with a Disney+ subscription.) Only time will tell what Eras Tour secret songs are on the way once she starts up again, but it's a safe bet that she'll be selling out venues, and perhaps Travis Kelce will have time between Chiefs matches to attend a few.

Music definitely runs in the blood of Kingston, Zuma and Apollo Rossdale, with their parents Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale being some of the biggest names on the ‘90s charts. So it’s not all that surprising that their three sons have inherited some of those musical proclivities. What is a little more unexpected is that one of them — 16-year-old Zuma — appears to be following more in the footsteps of his stepfather, former Voice coach Blake Shelton. The Bush frontman recently shared his thoughts on his country music-singing son and what’s most important to him when it comes to his kids.

A few decades ago, Gavin Rossdale was climbing the rock charts with hits like "Glycerine.” as Gwen Stefani was our ska queen as the singer of No Doubt. They’re both still performing, but now, too, are their three boys. The British rocker opened up about the different avenues each has gone down musically, telling the New York Post:

It sounds like Gavin Rossdale doesn’t mind that Zuma is more “Hillbilly Bone” than “Machinehead,” he just thinks it’s cool that his boys have inherited their parents’ love for music and that they’re growing up to be good men.

They certainly are growing up, as Zuma recently celebrated his 16th birthday, and Gwen Stefani posted an Instagram video in his honor that shows just how close he is to Blake Shelton. Check that out below:

Wow, Zuma fully looks the part of a country music star, decked out in his button-up shirt, jeans and cowboy hat alongside his stepdad. It’s obvious from many of those pictures that he and Blake Shelton are close, and even the one of the teenager sitting on the truck looks like it could have been Shelton at an earlier age. However, the younger pictures of Zuma holding a guitar show that his love for country music might have started long before Gwen Stefani and Shelton’s relationship.

Blake Shelton has talked over the years about what he’s learned about being a parent and how the boys are the most important thing now. Back in July he even gave Zuma Rossdale the opportunity to perform onstage at his bar Ole Red in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, where Zuma sang Zach Bryan’s “Oklahoma Smokeshow.”

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stafni split in 2015, and due to their different parenting styles, the Bush rocker has said they don’t co-parent, they just each do their own thing. According to Rossdale, Kingston, Apollo and Zuma have gained an “incredible perspective” that way, and the most important thing is that they know they are “loved and supported” no matter where they are.

I love that they’re getting that support not just from Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, but that Blake Shelton is a big part of it too.

It’s been over a year now since Blake Shelton stepped away from The Voice, finally getting time to focus on his marriage to Gwen Stefani and pursue other professional opportunities. After hosting another season of Barmageddon and hitting the road for a tour, the country music star is following his wife’s footsteps for his newest venture — a Las Vegas residency. While fans will undoubtedly be excited about the slate of upcoming Sin City shows, this could be bad news for anybody still holding out hope for the cowboy’s return to The Voice’s Big Red Chairs.

So, the good news first. Blake Shelton has announced that after opening a location of his bar Ole Red in Las Vegas in 2023, he will be expanding his footprint within the city with Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas, an upcoming residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, People reports. The idea for both projects apparently came around the same time, as Shelton said:

It sounds like the residency was a foregone conclusion once it was decided he would open a sixth location of Ole Red in the popular Nevada city, and he said he might just pop into Ole Red and jump on stage while he’s in town. Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas will run from February 5 to 15, and tickets are on sale now.

It sounds like Blake Shelton is planning to have plenty of fun in Sin City, but what does that mean for a potential return to The Voice?

Does The Las Vegas Residency Mean No OG Coach Reunion On The Voice?

When it was announced that Adam Levine was returning to The Voice for Season 27, hope sprang alive for those hoping to see Blake Shelton on the show again. The country singer had previously said the only way he’d return after his 23-season stint was if all four original coaches — he, Levine, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green — reunited. However, every other professional commitment Shelton makes seems to take him further away from NBC’s singing competition.

If Blake Shelton wanted to coach on The Voice again, I actually don’t think the residency would stop him. The dates he has announced for Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas will likely fall just ahead of the competition’s Season 27 premiere, and work is already underway on that season with Adam Levine, John Legend, Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini. Assuming CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera would even be on board for a reunion, Shelton could always work any future residency dates around his filming schedule.

We’ve also already seen several of The Voice’s other coaches take on residencies, including Gwen Stefani, with Blake Shelton even taking the stage with her. John Legend was also able to schedule Las Vegas concert dates around his own Voice commitments, and Maroon 5 did one, too, though it came after Adam Levine had stepped down from his coaching position.

I still think it’s unlikely we’ll ever see Blake Shelton on The Voice again, and it won’t be any concerts in Las Vegas keeping him away. However, you can catch Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé and Gwen Stefani on The Voice Season 26 when it hits the 2024 TV schedule at 8 p.m. ET Monday, September 26, on NBC.

A lot of musicians have come and gone over The Voice’s 25 seasons, but nobody held the job longer than Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Adam Levine left The Voice ahead of Season 17 with three victories, while Blake Shelton coached through the NBC competition’s 23rd season, racking up nine wins overall. Some of the show’s wildest moments have involved the rocker, so the rumors that he’s already making waves ahead of his 2025 return wouldn’t surprise me. According to a source for Life&Style: 

The trade suggests that Adam Levine has been giving his opinion on who else would be great in the Big Red Chairs, and he knows longtime fans would love to see him reunite with frenemy Blake Shelton. The insider continued: 

The man responsible for one of reality TV’s most iconic moments is stirring the pot?! I don’t believe it!

This is all hearsay at this point, but if true, he’s definitely not wrong about the ratings. While fans loved the rivalry between Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson after Adam Levine’s exit, their feud didn’t have the same bite to it, and since Shelton and Clarkson walked away, The Voice has been unsuccessful in developing any real tension between any of its coaches.

Now, whether the “Boys 'Round Here” singer would be into reuniting with Adam Levine is a whole different question. By all accounts, Blake Shelton has no interest in returning to The Voice. Unless … 

The cowboy previously said the only way he’d consider making a comeback was if they got the original four coaches back together. Could Adam Levine possibly be trying to pull strings to get Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green on board with the idea as well?

It’s been over a year since we bid Blake Shelton goodbye in The Voice Season 23 finale, but it’s just so hard not to speculate on a possible comeback. The competition has always had a revolving door for its coaches, and Shelton’s wife Gwen Stefani continues to go in and out as a mentor. If anybody has the pull to bring the country music star back, it’s definitely Levine, so we’ll have to see if his alleged attempts are successful.

In the meantime, though, The Voice will welcome two new coaches for Season 26 — Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé — who will join Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani this fall, before Adam Levine makes his big return next year in Season 27. Joining him for the spring 2025 lineup will be Bublé, Kelsea Ballerini and John Legend.
