Beloved Yellowstone vet Cole Hauser is back in the role of Rip Wheeler for the neo-western’s spinoff Dutton Ranch, currently a 2026 TV schedule staple streaming via Paramount+ subscription, where he’s now the king of the castle (so to speak) alongside his queen Beth Dutton. It’s almost impossible not to be intimidated by the character, given his proficiency with seemingly everything involved with ranching and cowboy life. It’s an element that Hauser gives franchise co-creator Taylor Sheridan full credit for, in regards to the pre-production “Cowboy Camp” that the actors go through.

A lot of Yellowstone diehards are aware of the training process that Sheridan & Co. have made a staple of the Yellowstone prequels and follow-ups, and that it’s about more than just roping and riding, even if those two elements are certainly vital to the cause. But Hauser doesn’t think enough people are aware of how much he in particular went through to give Rip the foundational confidence and know-how required. As he put it when speaking to Shortlist in a clip shared to Instagram:

If Taylor Sheridan ever brings his shortlived reality show The Last Cowboy back to primetime as a celebrity-infused version, I'm guessing Cole Hauser would be among the first people called in to star. That hypothesis is kind of useless, unlike the many skills that Hauser was trained to be proficient in while on the ranch. The kind of skills that left one actor with permanent scars on his butt cheeks.

It almost seems like it'd be two different courses involved. A. How to Cowboy, and B. How to Cowboy in Texas' Godawful Heat. Hauser has talked about how much different filming down south was in that respect, where he couldn't keep his additional Rip weight on as easily as he could in Montana.

When asked by the interviewer about cutting, which fans have definitely seen Rip and other Yellowstone-verse characters taking part in, Hauser shared:

Things are only getting more cutting and heated on Dutton Ranch, as evidenced by the latest episode, as well as the preview for the upcoming installment "Whiskey Limits." (The series recently namechecked the late, not-so-great Jamie Dutton, whose Wes Bentley also had to ace the Cowboy Camp.) Check the promo out below.

So I'm not sure if the quickest or easiest way to learn how to cowboy is "getting a job on a Taylor Sheridan western," but it does sound like the best possible shortcut to making it look good on TV. Might not help. you land a job at any ranches Sheridan doesn't have an ownership stake in, but maybe.

Dutton Ranch drops new episodes each Friday on Paramount+ and Paramount Network, with the Season 1 finale set for July 3.

Dutton Ranch has its fair share of brutal scenes, much like Yellowstone did. So far, the most tragic and intense one came during Episode 4 of the spinoff, when Rip had to kill his cows because they’d been infected with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). Following that episode airing on the 2026 TV schedule and talk about how the show is made (which, yes, includes stories about snakes), a rancher opened up about how realistic this new spinoff is. They also mentioned that an element of this tragedy is “one thing the show gets right.”

When Rip discovers he has a sick cow, he’s quick to call Ed Harris's character, Everett McKinney. He’s a veterinarian, and he confirms that Rip’s herd has been infected. This leads to a really hard choice for Rip, but it was a necessary one that’s validated by the vet. According to rancher Jessie Jarvis, the relationship between Rip and Everett is very accurate to real life, as she told People:

So, overall, the relationship Rip and Beth have created with Everett is both realistic and fantastic for the story. I’m such a fan of their friendship and partnership, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it advances the plot, especially considering all their connections to the Jackson family. Meanwhile, I also love that Harris’ character serves as a good representation of how important a rancher’s relationship is with their vet.

Along with that being realistic, Jarvis also explained that the tragic decision Rip had to make about his cows is also rooted in reality. However, what’s unrealistic about this storyline is the fact that FMD was eradicated in the United States in 1929.

Well, while they get some things right, others are not as realistic. However, overall, the rancher was positive about the storyline, and specifically the role Ed Harris’ character played in it all.

This mentality was something Jarvis maintained too, as she spoke about other topics and how realistic they are, like how much Rip gets paid as a foreman (which is more than average). While there are parts of the show that are factual, it’s also fictionalized and dramatized for TV.

However, one thing that was spot on was the relationship Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly’s characters created with the veterinarian played by Ed Harris. Now, I’ll be curious to see how that relationship develops and how realistic it stays as Dutton Ranch continues to drop new episodes every Friday.

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t yet watched Dutton Ranch’s latest episode on Paramount Network or via Paramount+ subscription, so be warned!

The latest episode of Dutton Ranch, “Peaceful Find Peace,” delivered a surprising cold-blooded murder, though for a character that neither we nor Carter knew all that well. (Love Ray McKinnon, but Dwight did not seem like the best influence for Carter, or anyone.) The installment also pulled Rip and Beth deeper into Beulah Jackson’s 10 Petals Ranch, while bringing her youngest son Rob-Will back into the picture. Which I think we can all agree means that dude is going to die real-real soon.

Regardless of if anyone agrees with this next part or not, I think whatever fate comes Rob-Will’s way needs to be an exercise in over-the-top violence and humiliation, standing out amongst other big deaths throughout the 2026 TV schedule. I cannot stand him, and I will not stand for the rest of the season playing out without the youngest Jackson offspring meeting a gloriously violent maker.

Rob-Will Jackson Is The Worstest Of The Worst, And Him Staying Alive Helps No One

Jai Courtney is almost too good at playing awful people. For an extremely applicable example, see 2025's Dangerous Animals, which also saw him co-starring opposite a Yellowstone vet in Hassie Harrison. Rob-Will Jackson is definitely another notch in that belt, and he's the kind of character that seemingly no one else likes or gets anything positive from.

Dutton Ranch starts with Rob-Will murdering the Ten Petals foreman Wes, and then dumping the body in an overtly shallow grave that took Rip zero time to stumble across. So that's like three terrible decisions right there.

Beyond that, Rob-Will also makes life worse for his brothers and his mom with his substance abuse and poor decision-making skills, as evidenced by everything above. Beulah & Co. tried to take him out of the picture in the least damning way by sending him to rehab, but him showing back up with that sh-t-eating grim means that stint clearly didn't stick.

His return, timed with Rip taking over as Ten Petals' foreman, is likely to result in some heightened fireworks in upcoming episodes, and none of it should go well at all for ol' Rob-Will.

Also, just to put it out there: the name Rob-Will sucks. It's more of a boring sentence than a name anyway. Probably not enough of a reason to wish a character dead, but I don't feel bad about it.

I Really Hope Rip Gets To Brutally End Rob-Will's Existence

I suppose I may be projecting a little here, since Rob-Will hasn't even put in that much time on Dutton Ranch so far, but it's so easy to foresee that character mucking up every single thing he touches or looks at or thinks about. And I cannot see him walking around his family's ranch for more than a few minutes without being a giant pain in Rip's rear end. Especially since he already started mess with the ranch hand Azul.

For all that Rip will presumably want to stay on Beulah's good side here in the early days of their working relationship, I don't see him suffering Rob-Will's spontaneous actions for very long. So I'm already waiting for the moment when he snaps.

To that end, I think Rip killing off Rob-Will would be a great way for Dutton Ranch to introduce its stand-in for Yellowstone's "Train Station," where the protagonists would dump the bodies of those that got in their way. Nothing sounds better to me than Rob-Will being on that first train making its way in. Although if Rip annihilates the character in such a way where there isn't even enough solid matter for him to dump anywhere, that works, too.

Plus, given all the snakes that are in the Texas area where they film the show, I'd be okay if a group of a hundred snakes all chewed through Rob-Will's face at once. Might be hard to wrangle that, though.

To reiterate: I hate Rob-Will and can't wait for him to get blown into oblivion. So it better happen in one of the next four episodes streaming on Paramount+ on Friday mornings (or airing on Paramount Network on Friday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Rip has a new job on Dutton Ranch, and he negotiated quite the deal for himself. In the fifth episode to air on the 2026 TV schedule, Cole Hauser’s character took a job at the Jackson family’s 10 Petal Ranch as their foreman. During dinner with Annette Bening’s Beulah Jackson, they discussed his pay for the gig. Since then, I’ve been wondering if the number they landed on is really what someone in that position would make, and a rancher weighed in on it.

Initially, Beulah offers Rip $8,000 per month “plus a truck and a house.” Rip turns down the truck and the house, and Beulah responds to that by offering him $9,000. Rip fires back by asking for $11,000, and 10 Petal’s matriarch agrees to it.

So, is that wage normal? According to rancher Jessie Jarvis, it’s “pretty inflated.” Telling People what an average ranchhand and foreman make per month, she said:

So, Rip is making quite a bit more than your average foreman. However, while his pay is “pretty inflated,” it’s not unjustified.

Jarvis went on to explain that the scope of the gig warrants the higher pay. Cole Hauser’s character is looking over a 75,000-acre ranch, according to this report. He’s also supervising a full staff of people who live in the bunkhouse, and they’re taking care of 2,200 head of cattle. Per Drovers (via People), that means this ranch Rip is overseeing would rank in the top 2% of ranches in the United States.

With all that in mind, I’d say his making about $3,000 over the high end of average makes sense. Plus, as the show notes, he used to work for the Dutton family, running one of the nation’s top ranches and managing quite the bunkhouse of cowboys and branded characters. He has the experience to both run 10 Petal and get paid well to do it.

Therefore, yes, Rip is making more money than your average foreman would, as Jarvis pointed out. However, it’s also not totally unrealistic, especially when you consider the people he’s working for in Dutton Ranch.

Now that we know all that, I’m curious to see how Rip’s relationship with the Jacksons develops. I also can’t wait to see what gets revealed about them through this new partnership. So, you better believe I’ll be tuning in for new episodes of Dutton Ranch as they continue to drop on Fridays on Paramount+.

Dutton Ranch — the newest entry into the Yellowstone universe to hit the 2026 TV schedule — sees Rip and Beth finding their place in unfamiliar territory after moving from Montana down to Texas. It turns out it’s not just the characters who are going through those growing pains. Cole Hauser opened up about another aspect that’s been difficult since their on-location shoots went South, and it’s got nothing to do with the literal thousands of snakes that had to be wrangled.

“Non-growing pains” would have been a more appropriate term to use there. Cole Hauser revealed to People that he usually packs on a few pounds for the role of Rip Wheeler, but Texas' triple-digit temperatures made that nearly impossible. He said:

If Cole Hauser needs recommendations for a good barbecue joint or some Tex-Mex, he can give me a call, because I’ve never had a problem keeping on my work-mandated extra 25 pounds. (I’m now being informed that this job does not actually require me to carry extra weight.)

In all seriousness, though, I’m sure Cole Hauser was eating just fine during his time in Texas, but the truth of the matter is, cowboying is hard in this heat. Heck, doing anything is hard in this heat, and I don’t even have to pretend to be chasing down cattle, tending to horses or running through fields in stilettos (that last one was what Kelly Reilly did as Beth Dutton, not Hauser).

Series director Christina Alexandra Voros addressed the weather woes that the crew faced, telling People:

Welcome to Texas.

Yellowstone’s Beth and Rip spinoff has been doing just fine without the other Dutton family members — many of whom didn't make it out of Season 5 alive — as Dutton Ranch reportedly premiered to 12.9 million Paramount Network viewers and Paramount+ subscription holders over its first seven days in release. I mean, there was never any doubt how much fans loved Beth and Rip’s relationship.

Now the biggest question surrounding John Dutton’s surviving offspring is whether Kayce (Luke Grimes) will cameo on Dutton Ranch or Beth and Rip will make the trip over to Marshals first for a crossover episode. Storywise, it probably makes more sense for Kayce to visit Beth in Texas, but Cole Hauser sounds ready to get out of the Texas heat and “kick back in the mountains of Montana.”

Dutton Ranch has brought jaw-dropping ratings to Paramount since its premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, thanks in large part to Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, who star as Yellowstone fan favorites Beth and Rip. The spinoff takes the couple down to Texas, where they’ve got new faces to contend with, as well as some new critters. Rattlesnakes have apparently been an issue on the Dutton Ranch set, and even as someone who lives in Texas, I am horrified at just how many the crew caught during filming.

If you live in the more rural areas of Texas like Fort Worth, as I do, you simply can’t avoid encountering snakes. Thankfully, my experiences have only involved small, nonthreatening one so far; however, the Dutton Ranch crew, who filmed in areas around Fort Worth, wasn’t so lucky. Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly visited The Kelly Clarkson Show, where Hauser told the host:

Abso. Lutely. Not. I think I’d be pulling some kind of, “I cannot work under these conditions,” and sitting my butt in a trailer. Now, Kelly Clarkson is one of many celebrities from Texas, so maybe there’s a chance she’d have been OK in such circumstances. Kelly Reilly, not so much.

But if you think a few thousand snakes are going to keep Beth Dutton from finishing a job, you don’t know Beth Dutton. Kelly Reilly gave her perspective of what it was like filming those outdoor scenes, saying:

She also clarified that the snakes were not harmed when they were caught — just moved very far away from where the actors were working.

Cole Hauser had a particularly harrowing experience one night, as he told the audience:

What’s more frightening — the train station or 50 rattlesnakes? I hope I never have to make that choice.

Dutton Ranch, which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription, seems to be a hit so far, with its premiere grabbing 12.9 million viewers in its first seven days in release, according to Paramount. Cole Hauser showed his appreciation for fans who remained interested in Beth and Rip’s story, as they meet new characters in a new land. Annette Bening and Ed Harris co-star in Dutton Ranch’s first season, along with Juan Pablo Raba as a very Jamie Dutton-like Joaquin.

Dutton Ranch, unsurprisingly, is one of the hits on the 2026 TV schedule. However, what is surprising is just how big a hit it is. In fact, it’s so popular it crushed a Paramount+ record. Now, Cole Hauser is sharing a message for the fans who helped make this Yellowstone spinoff so successful right out of the gate.

When Rip and Beth made their return to our screens in the newest Yellowstone show, Dutton Ranch, people with a Paramount+ subscription tuned in. And they did so in a big way, as the series had the biggest debut in the streaming service’s history. So, the actor who plays Rip celebrated on Instagram with a graphic about the record and the following caption:

To put this post into context, according to Nielsen’s data, 12.9 million viewers watched Dutton Ranch within its first week on Paramount+. Those are massive numbers, especially when you consider that The Madison had the most successful debut among Taylor Sheridan’s projects up to this point, as it brought in 8 million viewers within its first 10 days on the streamer.

It’s clear that Hauser wants to maintain those numbers too, as he noted in his post that he wants to “keep [Dutton Ranch] rollin.” While the series has not been renewed for a second season, I would imagine that it will be.

Looking back at Yellowstone’s history, it ran for five seasons, it has two very successful prequel series, and Marshals was renewed for its second season less than two weeks after it premiered on CBS. Plus, other shows related to Taylor Sheridan have lived long lives, with The Madison getting renewed for a third season after Season 1 aired, and other shows like Landman, Lioness and Mayor of Kingstown all working on new installments.

So, I will be genuinely shocked if Dutton Ranch does not return for a second season. People love Rip and Beth, and this show has also introduced us to more new and compelling characters played by A-listers Annette Bening and Ed Harris. I already am clamouring for more of this Texas-set show, and I would assume the vast majority of the 12.9 million people who have tuned in are too.

I really can’t downplay the popularity of Yellowstone. The flagship series, which you can stream with a Peacock subscription, was a huge hit that crushed it in the ratings. Then, Marshals' premiere on CBS brought in 9.52 million viewers, which made it the “best scripted premiere without a football lead in" since FBI premiered in 2018. So, Dutton Ranch continuing this streak makes sense.

And it seems like Cole Hauser wants to keep the hype going. Not only did he thank the fans for helping them break this Paramount+ record, but he also encouraged them to keep it up as the show continues to drop new episodes every Friday.

Much like peanut butter and jelly make for an undeniable pairing, as do Taylor Sheridan and massive TV audiences. Yellowstone set the high bar at a point when viewership and ratings data started to look dire everywhere else, and the creator’s streaming series like Landman continue to top each other’s records for biggest numbers. Knowing all that, I was certainly ready for Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s sequel series Dutton Ranch to crush out, but I still didn’t foresee its totals being that impressive.

The first two episodes of Dutton Ranch became available to stream via Paramount+ subscription on Sunday, May 11, with both eps also airing linearly on Paramount Network that same evening. And fans were more than ready for it, to the point where the spinoff series can now lay claim to being the biggest original series premiere on the streaming service to date. Not a small boast after shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness and Landman have all been so successful.

To get more into the nitty gritty, Paramount is touting Nielsen’s data pointing to a total of 12.9 million viewers tuning into Dutton Ranch during its first seven days of release! That's huge! Compare that to the stats for Landman’s 2024 premiere, which brought in around 5.2 million viewers across Paramount+ and Paramount Network. At the time, that was the best premiere since Yellowstone prequel brought in 7.4 million viewers with its arrival.

That total tops the majority of all broadcast and cable shows, where even delayed-viewing totals don’t often rise up beyond 10 million viewers, at least not for only a week’s time. As such, Dutton Ranch could already end up being one of the most-watched shows of the year, even if that peak audience has a dropoff. But I doubt any such dropoff is imminent. It’s not like it’s suddenly going to get less interesting to watch Annette Bening’s John-esque antagonist Beulah Jackson.

What's more, Dutton Ranch's also brought quite a few eyeballs to Paramount Network that Sunday night: 2.9 million total viewers were on hand to watch the two-episode stretch on the night of the premiere. (And not across the first seven days.) The first episode got 1.9 million, while Ep 2 held onto that last million.

All in all, it'd be somewhat safe to say that 15 million people or so watched the series premiere, which saw Beth and Rip pulling away from their longtime home in Montana to move down to Texas. (Don't expect any immediate Marshals crossovers, even though Reilly and others want them to happen.)

Dutton Ranch is Taylor Sheridan's latest creation to premiere on Paramount+, though it was only in March when Michelle Pfeiffer's The Madison debuted (though not as a Yellowstone follow-up as it was initially described.) The series was viewed as Sheridan's biggest launch yet with 8 million viewers across its first 10 days.

By and large, Dutton Ranch's debut numbers have crushed everything in its path and everything in its past. Although I do have to question why Paramount detailed the viewership split between Eps 1 and 2 on the linear TV channel, and why the streaming audience didn't get the same breakdown. Since it's not automatically clear if the first and second eps shared a similar audience total, or if millions more watched the first ep compared to #2. Perhaps Paramount+'s execs are the only ones who could answer that.

Hopefully we'll get some stats for Episode 3 soon, but in the meantime, check out the trailer for the upcoming fourth episode:

Dutton Ranch is here to put its ratings-topping brand all the other shows on the 2026 TV schedule, and streams new episodes on Fridays on Paramount+, which air later that night on Paramount Network at 8:00 p.m. ET.

We know that Luke Grimes is down for a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover. Kelly Reilly has said a reunion would be nice too. Now, Cole Hauser has shared his take on the matter, specifically noting where he’d like this crossover to take place. I gotta say, I 100% agree with him.

At the moment, both Marshals and Dutton Ranch are airing on the 2026 TV schedule, with Kayce’s spinoff finishing out its first season on May 24. So, as Rip and Beth’s spinoff got going a couple of weeks before that, ScreenRant asked Cole Hauser if he’d rather Kayce come to Texas or Rip and Beth go to Montana for a Dutton family reunion. In response, he said:

Considering where Dutton Ranch begins, I’d also love to see Rip and Beth “kick back” in Montana with Kayce. They had to leave in such a rush when that fire broke out, and now they’re building an entirely new life in Texas. So, it’d be nice if they could get some sense of familiarity at some point.

While them going to Montana feels like it’d imply they appear on Marshals, I’d like to propose something else. I actually think they should take Dutton Ranch up to Kayce instead. I think it makes more sense for Kayce to appear on Dutton Ranch over Rip and Beth appearing on Marshals. I also really want to see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser back where it all began. So I’m with the Rip actor, as he said he wanted to go back up north for a crossover.

Who knows? Maybe an episode of Dutton Ranch could see Rip and Beth traveling up to Montana because they need help from Kayce. In the last season of Yellowstone, they went down to Texas, so I don’t see why they can’t return to Montana on their show (especially since Kayce and Beth are on good terms, as far as we know).

To be clear, I’d also love to see Rip and Beth on Marshals, and I think it’d be fun to watch Kayce interact with the new characters on Dutton Ranch in Texas. However, I think priority number one is getting Reilly and Hauser’s characters back up to Montana for a nice visit with their brother.

I don’t need to see them involved in a marshals case, but I would love to see them back on the farm, and helping Kayce out.

However, that’s just a fantasy at the moment. So, while we wait for that to become a reality (which seems possible considering how down all the actors are), you can watch the Season 1 finale of Marshals on Sunday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, and you can stream new episodes of Dutton Ranch every Friday with a Paramount+ subscription.

It’s been about a year and a half since we bid farewell to Yellowstone. John Dutton’s murder was avenged with Jamie's death, and Kayce’s doing his thing over on CBS’s Marshals. As for Beth and her husband Rip, we’re about to see what hijinks they’re up to in Texas when Dutton Ranch hits the 2026 TV schedule. Reviews are in for the latest Yellowstone spinoff, so after viewing the first four episodes, do critics think this feels like a continuation of the hit Taylor Sheridan epic, or does it stand on its own?

Dutton Ranch is centered around Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) who relocate to Texas with their adopted son Carter. According to CinemaBlend’s own Riley Utley, the series perfectly blends what we loved about Yellowstone with new challenges for Beth and Rip. She says:

Nick Schager of the Daily Beast agrees Dutton Ranch is a win, following its predecessor’s formula exactly, except that it’s smart enough to side-step the “culture-war claptrap.” The critic says the result is the best and most satisfying Yellowstone entry since Yellowstone itself. He writes:

Lauren Samer of Page Six says Yellowstone fans will be happy to get more of the same with Dutton Ranch. The writing is clumsy, the plotlines are full of melodrama, but that’s probably just fine for an audience who wants to see cowboys kick ass and take names, Samer says, writing:

Ben Travers of IndieWire gives the new series a C in his Dutton Ranch review, saying that Beth and Rip still have the ferocity we loved in the original series, but Annette Bening and Ed Harris — the latest big Hollywood names to join the Yellowstone universe — may steal the show. In Travers’ words:

Ben Rosenstock of AV Club also gives Dutton Ranch a C, saying it’s the same Duttons, different ranch. Beth’s character is admittedly tempered down a bit, Rosenstock says, but nobody was really asking for more Carter. The critic concludes:

It sounds like there have been some changes made to propel Beth and Rip’s spinoff, but a lot of Dutton Ranch is very similar to Yellowstone, and that’s probably what a lot of fans are hoping for. With 14 critics weighing in so far, Rotten Tomatoes scores the spinoff sequel at 86% ahead of its premiere.

The first two episodes will be available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription at 3:01 a.m. ET Friday, May 15, while they will air back-to-back at 8 p.m. ET the same day on Paramount Network.

I know Yellowstone is a very big deal. The four spinoffs you can stream with a Paramount+ subscription prove that. However, seeing David Beckham get a bit starstruck over Cole Hauser just gave me a whole new perspective on its popularity. Yeah, that’s right, the football legend was “trying to stay calm” in front of the Rip actor, and as he tried to do that, he also totally proved himself as a massive Yellowstone fan.

Now, this all came up while Beckham was comparing the soccer player Roy Keane to Rip during an episode of Beckham and Friends that Hauser was appearing on to promote the premiere of Dutton Ranch on the 2026 TV schedule. Then, one of the former player's co-hosts said that she’d heard that Beckham is “really into Yellowstone,” which led him to say the following right in front of the actor who plays Rip Wheeler:

Well, that was very kind of him to say, and his excitement about Yellowstone (which you can stream with a Peacock subscription) was palpable. However, his fanboying didn’t end there. He continued to prove he’s a megafan by saying:

What followed that was numerous images of Beckham in Nashville wearing a cowboy hat and boots. And it was those photos that led to the Rip actor giving him some fashion advice, as Hauser explained:

Cole Hauser even said he’d send David Beckham a pair of jeans, and explained that he himself keeps it “old school” and wears Levi's 501s.

In response, Beckham didn’t really reply to the cowboy fashion tip; instead, he went back to gushing about Hauser and Kelly Reilly’s performances:

I’m with him, I’m such a fan of Rip, Beth and their relationship too! So much so that when Yellowstone ended, I was immediately hoping we’d get to see Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly back in the saddle again.

Beckham didn’t stop with the compliments either. He went on to recall shots he loved in the show, and revealed that he’s counting down the days to the premiere of Rip and Beth’s spinoff, Dutton Ranch (which Hauser himself has been hyping up for a while now).

Man, he really, truly is a Yellowstone superfan, and I’m so happy he got to tell Cole Hauser about it.

Now, I hope we can get some more commentary from Beckham about Rip and Beth when they return to our screens on May 15 in Dutton Ranch.

Before Marshals premiered on the 2026 TV schedule, I was wondering how hard it’d lean into the Dutton family history. Since it’s on CBS and it’s a different format of show, I thought it might steer clear of it. However, it hasn’t. In fact, Kayce’s dad has been brought up numerous times. So, considering that, there are two characters from the flagship series that I really think Marshals needs to name-drop a bit more.

Marshals Doesn’t Hide Its Yellowstone History

While Marshals sees Kayce take on a brand new job with a brand new group of people, his history is by no means ignored. Between his son Tate as well as Rainwater and Mo from Broken Rock, there are many direct connections back to Yellowstone with the cast alone.

Along with that, the deaths of John and Jamie Dutton have been brought up numerous times, seeing as both of them technically weren’t wrapped up cleanly at the end of Yellowstone. In fact, at this point, I’ll be surprised if the show doesn’t try to uncover more about how Jamie died.

However, two characters the series has largely steered clear of are Rip and Beth, which is interesting, considering Kayce had a good relationship with both of them, and they’re the only other living Duttons left.

However, Marshals Needs To Bring Up Rip And Beth More

Like I mentioned, at the end of Yellowstone, Kayce, Rip and Beth were in a good place. They didn’t live in the same place, but they were on excellent terms and successfully sold the ranch in a way that protected it. So, considering how heavily Marshals leans on its history, I figured Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s characters would come up a bit more.

Sadly, they really haven’t. Rip has been name-dropped once by my count, and Kayce has mentioned his family here and there. However, there’s really been no substantial conversation or reference to the leads of Dutton Ranch.

Now, to an extent, I think I get why. For one, Dutton Ranch will be available exclusively with a Paramount+ subscription while Marshals airs live on CBS. These are two distinct and different shows that live in different places (technically). However, it’s also available on the streaming service, and CBS is owned by Paramount. So, it’s not like a crossover is impossible. I’d just guess each show is trying to establish itself as its own new thing.

But, again, Marshals is not shying away from its Yellowstone connections for the most part. So, why shy away from this? Luke Grimes has said he and Kelly Reilly have talked about crossover, and neither is opposed to it. Plus, even though Kayce and Beth live in different states now, I don’t think they’d become estranged.

Therefore, I’d really like it if Marshals brought up Rip and Beth more. However, whether they do or don’t, thankfully, we’ll have the couple played by Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly back on our screens soon. That’s because, as Marshals continues to air every Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m., Dutton Ranch will make its premiere on Paramount+ on May 15.

It would seem that as Rip and Beth move away from their home in Montana and down to Texas, they’ll be met with a new set of adversaries. Obviously, that’s been assumed since Dutton Ranch was put on the 2026 TV schedule. However, new footage from this sequel series starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser gave us a good look at the characters Annette Bening and Jai Courtney will be playing, and I have to say, I think Beth has met her match.

As we inch closer to the premiere of this highly anticipated spinoff about the beloved Yellowstone characters, Paramount+ dropped an ad that featured dialogue and footage from not just Rip and Beth, but the new characters, too. Take a look:

So, to break this down, this video establishes that Rip and Beth moved from Montana to Texas (which we knew). It’s also quickly confirmed that this new place is complex, as Annette Bening’s character, Beulah Jackson, says:

That line is followed by Jai Courtney’s Rob-Will saying that “no one understands what we've done to protect this ranch.” And as that’s being said, we see Rip walking up to a presumably dead body. While it’s unclear if Rob-Will is connected to Bening’s character, we do know he plays an “imposing, unpredictable ranch foreman”. So, I think his words at the bare minimum add to why Rio Paloma is “complicated.”

Then, to add more fuel to this fire, Beth says she needs Carter “ready for the hard parts, because they’re coming.” And as she explains that, it cuts to a few frames of Beulah. Plus, at the end of it all, we get to hear Kelly Reilly’s character tell Bening’s character:

We know that Beulah Jackson is the leader of a massive ranch in Texas. If I had to take a guess based on this footage, she’s the matriarch of it, too, which would create a clear parallel to Yellowstone and the Dutton family. So, to me, it’d make sense if Beth rolls into this world like a tornado ready to rip it apart.

However, based on the trailer for Dutton Ranch, this teaser, and Yellowstone’s history of violence, I’d also operate under the assumption that characters like Beulah and Rob-Will don’t fight clean. Seemingly, Beth will be met with trouble if she tries to stand up to them. However, if I learned anything from watching Yellowstone (which you can do with a Peacock subscription), while Beth and Rip might not win every battle, you better believe they'll fight like hell to win the war.

So, yeah, I think Beth may have met her match, and I cannot wait to see what kind of stand-offs she ends up in when Dutton Ranch premieres for those with a Paramount+ subscription on May 15.

For five seasons, we watched Luke Grimes and Kelly Reilly share the screen as they played Kayce and Beth Dutton on Yellowstone. Now, they both have their own spinoffs, with Grimes’ Marshals currently airing on CBS and Reilly’s Dutton Ranch preparing for its Paramount+ premiere on the 2026 TV schedule this spring. So, the obvious question now is: Will they ever cross over to each other's shows? Well, the Marshals star addressed that.

Considering Beth and Kayce are foundational parts of the Dutton family, it feels a bit weird that they’re now leading two completely different shows in two different places (albeit they will both be available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription). So, questions about crossover feel natural. Thankfully, Luke Grimes was asked about this on Country Nights with Bev Rainey, and I’d say he has a very optimistic outlook on the potential to see the siblings on screen together someday:

Thank goodness we finally got Luke Grimes on the record saying this. As we’ve learned more about both Marshals and Dutton Ranch, I’ve been wondering about the possibility of a crossover.

I mean, the lead characters of the shows are literally siblings; they were on the same series for five seasons (you can watch them with a Peacock subscription), so it’d be weird if they didn’t see each other. I know that Kayce is in Montana and Rip and Beth are going to be in Texas. However, I don’t think that should diminish the potential for them to see each other…especially since the final episodes of Yellowstone saw Luke Grimes’ character in Montana and Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s characters in Texas.

Plus, as Marshals has been airing, there have been multiple references to John and Jamie Dutton's deaths, and Rip’s name was even dropped early in the season. So, it’s not like this CBS series is trying to sever itself from Yellowstone. In fact, it’s maintaining its ties with these references and the four actors who returned to play the characters they originated in the flagship series. In short, it might be a law enforcement procedural, but its roots run deep with Yellowstone.

Meanwhile, Dutton Ranch’s trailer felt a lot more like the OG series tonally. However, it’s moving from Montana to Texas. So, like Marshals, while it has deep ties to Yellowstone, it’s also differentiating itself from its predecessor.

All in all, it does feel like there’s plenty of potential for these characters to bounce between shows. As Greg Yaitanes, a director who worked on both projects, said, it might make more sense for Kayce to go to Rip and Beth first. However, Grimes’ comments illustrate that both he and Reilly are ready and willing to share the screen whenever it makes sense.

Thankfully, Marshals has already been renewed for Season 2, and Dutton Ranch is set to premiere on May 15. So, there’s plenty of time for all of this to happen, and what makes it better is that the actors who play these iconic characters seem more than willing to make it happen, too.

The Dutton family has returned on the 2026 TV schedule in a big way; however, they are not on the same shows. With the premiere of Marshals (plus its early renewal) and the upcoming launch of Rip and Beth’s spinoff, Dutton Ranch, we’re seeing the main players from Yellowstone back in action! However, there are always questions about how the family could be reunited. So that begs the question: Would Kayce go to his sister’s show first? Or would she and Rip head over to CBS for an episode of her brother's program?

Well, thankfully, Greg Yaitanes, who has directed multiple episodes of both Marshals and Dutton Ranch, shared his take on that question. During a discussion with Collider, the director was asked about the two new Yellowstone spinoffs. The interviewer also mentioned that Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce, would love to reunite with Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth, but didn’t know if it’d be better for him to go to Rip and Beth’s show or vice versa. So, Yaitanes shared his take on the matter, explaining:

As a Dutton family fan, I, too, would freak out if this ever happened. Of course, since Marshals airs on CBS and Dutton Ranch will be exclusive to those with a Paramount+ subscription, it could be complicated to pull this off. However, it really is not impossible, considering Paramount owns CBS.

The bigger challenge of the two shows airing in different places, honestly, might come down to what can be said and shown on Dutton Ranch that cannot be on Marshals. Since Kayce’s series is on CBS, it can't have the cursing and gory violence that is allowed on a Paramount+ program. In short, I think characters like Rip and Beth would have a hard time on Kayce’s show. It would seem Yaitanes had a similar thought too, explaining:

He also made a valid point about how similar these two shows are to Yellowstone.

While Marshals has many connections to the flagship series (I mean, John Dutton was mentioned multiple times during the premiere), its concept is quite different, seeing as Kayce is a marshal now and working with a whole new team.

Meanwhile, as the director said, Dutton Ranch, in some ways, feels like Yellowstone Season 6. Based on the trailer for Rip and Beth’s show, tonally it feels quite similar to the original series, too, seeing as the couple is seemingly fighting for a ranch. While it will see the couple in a new place, the vibe and general story feel familiar. So, it’d be easy to plunk Kayce right back in, seeing as he fit in perfectly fine on the OG series.

With all that said and done, I’m hopeful that someday Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser can reunite on screen. And I do agree that it’d probably make the most sense for it to happen on Dutton Ranch first instead of Marshals. However, ultimately, I do want this family to be together on both spin-offs.

As Luke Grimes continues to play out Kayce Dutton’s legacy on CBS’ Marshals, the Yellowstone universe is finally set to deliver another sequel series in the form of Dutton Ranch (via Paramount+ subscription). We now know that Beth and Rip’s move down south to Texas will kick off in May, and that it’ll seemingly feature just as many fistfights, fires and mystery corpses as the flagship series. The spinoff’s first trailer proved to be a doozy, set to the remixed tune of Eminem’s “Till I Collapse, though one major character was only showcased for a split-second.

The trailer understandably goes hard on reminding fans that this show is all about Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton, and the two newest heavy hitters — Oscar nominees Annette Bening and Ed Harris — are also given prominent billing. But what about the only other core Yellowstone character who made the jump to the new show? No, not Lloyd or any of the older ranchhands. We’re talking about Finn Little’s quasi-orphaned Carter. Give it a watch below and see if you can find him.

Having more or less been adopted by Beth and Rip since he fell into their lives back in Season 4, Carter wasn’t natural born into cowboy-dom, but was given a deep education in that life while living on the Yellowstone ranch. So when his keepers decided to put Montana in the rearview to reach greener pastures in Texas, he presumably didn’t have much else going on to commit himself to, with Kayce having split the land up with Rainwater and his tribe.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping to get some major updates on Carter’s current lifestyle, the trailer seems to almost purposefully keep him hidden. At least until the quickly paced montage near the end, where he can be seen ready to open a family-sized pack of whoopass on whoever is on the receiving end of his fists.

I get that this spinoff is going to be about grown-up people problems and necessarily needs to show off as much of Rip's steely glare as possible. But it still feels odd for one of the three connective tissues to Yellowstone proper being put on the back burner for the first trailer. Especially if the point with that character is to have him follow in Rip's fist-steps. Errr, foot-fists. Errr, footsteps.

Not that Finn Little seems to be taking a stand against the trailer editors for mostly leaving Carter out of the mix. He was enthused about sharing the trailer on social media, as well as the drama's first still photo of Carter and what appears to be his girlfriend Oreana, as portrayed by Gotham and The Goldbergs vet Natalie Alyn Lind.

It seems like just yesterday this dude was 90% known for his chipmunk cheeks and precociously curly hair, and now he's basically a man. The power of jeans, a button-up and a ball cap, I guess.

Beyond all those who were mentioned already, Dutton Ranch will also introduce new characters portrayed by Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, and Marc Menchaca. It was created by Chad Feehan, and is obviously based on the universe co-created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, who both serve as executive producers here. (Sheridan is wrapping his efforts with Paramount to shift over to NBCU, thus the lighter touch on this project.)

It's a great time for fans who haven't already signed up for Paramount+ to take advantage.

The nine-episode first season of Dutton Ranch is set to hit Paramount+ on Friday, May 15, with a two-episode premiere. My fellow Yellowstone fans, the 2026 TV schedule has some very exciting titles on it for us. Along with Marshals, we’re getting Dutton Ranch “soon,” and that means we’ll have three OG characters on our screen. Specifically, to celebrate the update that Rip and Beth’s spinoff is officially on its way to us, Cole Hauser, Jai Courtney and more hyped up their new show on social media.

Ever since Yellowstone ended, I’ve been wanting more Rip and Beth. Now, we know we’re going to be able to watch them with a Paramount+ subscription in the near future. Cole Hauser, who has played Rip since day one of Taylor Sheridan’s flagship show, celebrated that fact too, as he posted the following on Instagram:

We’re really off to the races now, and it would seem that Rip will have a new brand in hand, too.

However, he won’t be the only Yellowstone alum returning. That’s because, along with Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who will reprise her role as Beth and Finn Little will be back as Carter, Rip and Beth’s essentially adopted son. The young actor posted about the upcoming show on Instagram too, writing:

He’s right, Beth, Rip and Carter will be back, and they’ll have a fresh start. Remember, Yellowstone ended with them on a new ranch. So, with new land, a new adventure awaits, too. And if I learned anything from Yellowstone, I'd assume that this new journey will be very intense, passionate and action-packed. I'm also sure it will be full of unexpected turns, too, especially since we know there will be a lot of new characters entering Rip and Beth's world.

Speaking of those new people, a bunch of big names have joined Dutton Ranch. We know Ed Harris will play a “weathered veteran” and a veterinarian named Everett McKinney. Annette Bening also joined the Yellowstone spinoff to play Beulah Jackson, the head of a massive ranch in Texas.

Along with those two heavy hitters, Jai Courtney will be in Dutton Ranch as Rob-Will, an “imposing, unpredictable ranch foreman.” He made it clear that he’s excited about this character and the show, as well, as he posted the show’s new poster and wrote on Instagram:

You heard him, it’s time to saddle up and get ready for a wild ride.

This cast is staked, it’s going to mix Yellowstone lore with new characters in what will likely be a fun and action-packed way, and I cannot wait to see what they have planned. Thankfully, it seems like we won’t have to wait much longer to see it either, because, in the words of the actor who plays Rip Wheeler, “Here… We… Go.”

Today is a big day for the Dutton family. While Yellowstone came to a close back in 2024, 2026 has seen the start of its first sequel series, Marshals. Now, as that show about Kayce Dutton dominates on the 2026 TV schedule, it has been quickly picked up for a second season. However, that’s not the only exciting Yellowstone news, because we also finally got a solid update about Rip and Beth’s spinoff.

Marshals Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Less than two weeks after Marshals premiered, CBS renewed it for Season 2. The show, which sees Luke Grimes return as his Yellowstone character Kayce Dutton, has been raking in the viewers, and with almost no hesitation, the network decided to order another set of episodes.

According to CBS, the Marshals premiere was watched by 20.6 million multiplatform viewers within seven days. To put that into perspective, per CBS, this is the “most-watched original series premiere without a football lead-in since 2017.” Adding to the accolades, the spinoff was the No. 1 show of the week, and during CBS’s premiere week, it was the most-watched show and new series. Oh, and the episode is CBS’s most-streamed episode ever by those with a Paramount+ subscription.

So, with all that said, it makes sense that Marshals got renewed after only two episodes. However, this isn’t the only exciting Yellowstone news we need to talk about…

Rip And Beth’s Spinoff Has An Offical Title And A Promise About Its Premiere

Last week on Marshals, Rip was actually name-dropped, which got me wondering when we were going to get an update about the highly anticipated spinoff about Rip and Beth. Well, we didn’t have to wait too long for it, because over on Instagram, there’s a big rebrand (pun intended) going on. Take a look:

While Cole Hauser said this show would not be called Dutton Ranch, it would appear that that is now the confirmed title of Rip and Beth’s spinoff series.

Now, along with the post above, the Dutton Ranch Instagram has eleven other posts that come together to make a massive new brand logo that is reminiscent of Yellowstone’s, but is a “DR” instead of a “Y.” Also, on each and every one of the posts, they put the caption:

Even the account’s bio notes that Dutton Ranch is “coming soon to [Paramount+].” That’s a pretty big rollout for a show, so it hopefully means more updates, photos, trailers and a release date are coming relatively soon.

Overall, this show still remains a pretty big mystery. However, along with knowing that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will be back as Rip and Beth, it’s been confirmed that Finn Little will also return to play Carter. We also know that Ed Harris has joined the cast, and so has Annette Bening.

All around, it’s thrilling that we’ve gotten so much solid news about the future of the Yellowstone franchise. Not only are we getting a second season of Marshals, but Dutton Ranch is well on its way, too. So, with all that being said, hold on to your horses, folks, because we’re in for a wild and long ride with the Duttons.

Now that Yellowstone’s first sequel series is airing on the 2026 TV schedule, and we know others are on the way, of course, I’m thinking about the potential for crossovers. Specifically, I’m wondering how and when Kayce can be reunited with his one living sibling, Beth, and her husband, Rip. Well, after Cole Hauser’s character’s name got dropped, the potential for crossover felt promising. So, I asked one of the show’s stars, Arielle Kebbel, about it.

How Rip Was Name-Dropped In Marshals

Now, to recap, early in the second episode of Marshals, Kayce and Tate go on a camping trip, and they discuss this new chapter they’re entering. However, while they’re going to new places (literally and figuratively), they still have East Camp and their little ranch to look after. So, Tate asks his dad who will look after it. In response, Kayce says:

So, clearly, Rip and Beth are still in communication with Kayce, and they’re ready and willing to help him. They are also in the know about his career change. And that all led me to wonder if Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly will ever show up in a show other than Rip and Beth’s spinoff.

What Arielle Kebbel Had To Say About The Potential For Yellowstone Cast Members To Appear In Marshals

Considering how often John Dutton has come up on Marshals and this name drop, I had to ask the cast about it. So, when I interviewed Arielle Kebbel, who plays Belle, I posed a question about Rip being mentioned in the latest episode and the potential for crossover. In response, she said:

Considering Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes were all major members of the Yellowstone cast from day one, I had assumed this might be the case. Plus, Kayce and Beth worked well together at the end of the flagship show, and I always thought it’d be a bit odd if they never interacted again on screen in at least one of their shows.

Also, as Kebbel pointed out, Marshals already has Yellowstone alum in it, as Gil Birmingham and Mo Brings Plenty came back to play Rainwater and Mo, while Brecken Merrill returned to play Kayce’s son, Tate. Speaking to that point, and the notion that this CBS show is an expansion of a world we already know, the Belle actress told me:

So, while no crossover is happening yet, it does sound like the door is wide open for it. I feel like that’s especially true now that Marshals has name-dropped not only late characters like John and Jamie, but living characters like Rip.

Now, let’s hope this dream can become a reality in a way that both connects all these shows while allowing Marshals to be its own new story. However, in the meantime, you can keep up with Kayce Dutton’s journey by watching Marshals on CBS every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

In case you were curious, there’s one Captain Marvel actor who is a massive Yellowstone fan. He made that very clear in an interview, too, and now fans want to see him in an upcoming Yellowstone show. So, with all that in mind, I’ve started dreaming about the possibilities, and I have a great idea for which new series Lee Pace could join in Taylor Sheridan’s realm of Westerns.

Lee Pace Loves Yellowstone, And Fans Love That For Him

Lee Pace made it very clear that he is really into the Yellowstone shows right now during an interview with Magic FM. In fact, he gushed quite a bit about them and why he has such a great appreciation for them, explaining:

To quote Colman Domingo (who was sitting next to Pace when he made his love for this franchise known), it feels like the actor is “made for that show.” Further proving that point, the Foundation star explained why she’s such a big fan of the franchise:

Clearly, Pace is using his Paramount+ subscription to watch 1923, too, because that’s the cast Ford and Mirren are part of. That honestly sells me even more on this idea. He is so fond of the franchise that it’s infectious, plus he could easily fit right into the universe. I also think he'd look great in a cowboy hat.

Again, to quote Colman Domingo, “I can see” him in one of these programs. Fans can too, as they commented things like:

Now, I agree with all these points. Overall, I think Lee Pace could play anyone in the Yellowstone universe, including a member of the Dutton family. However, I have a vision for this Guardians of the Galaxy actor.

There's One Yellowstone Spinoff I'd Love To See Lee Pace On

Alright, first things first, I actually think it’s possible for Lee Pace to get in on these shows. Taylor Sheridan’s track record of casting A-listers is spectacular, so I do believe this could easily happen. Now, the question is: Which show should he appear on? One fan mentioned Kayce’s spinoff, Marshals, which premieres on the 2026 TV schedule this March. However, I think he’s actually a better fit for the Rip and Beth spinoff that’s in the works.

While I’m sure he’d be great on either series or the prequel-sequel 1944 that is reportedly in the works, Rip and Beth’s show would be the dream come true.

I say that because I can vividly imagine Lee Pace playing the ultimate adversary to Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s characters. Specifically, I’d love to see him play a villain like Roarke, who Josh Holloway portrayed on Yellowstone. He wound up being someone who challenged both Rip and Beth. Along those lines, I think it’d be fun to see someone who was able to go up against Beth (or Rip) in a verbal fight and Rip (or Beth) in a physical fight in their new show. I think the Bodies Bodies Bodies actor fits that bill very well.

Now, let’s make this dream a reality, please. And in the meantime, you can check out both Lee Pace’s most recent film, The Running Man, as well as most of the Yellowstone shows on Paramount+.

Taylor Sheridan’s shows are known for their A-list casts, and the Rip and Beth spinoff will be no different. That was true before the latest casting addition was made. However, now that Jai Courtney has been added to the ensemble, we have three very famous heavy hitters joining Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser on this Yellowstone series. I also think they’ll impact Rip and Beth’s lives in significant ways, and based on what we know about Courtney’s character, I think our favorite cowboy might be in trouble.

Jai Courtney Has Been Cast In The Rip And Beth Spinoff

Before this, we found out that Annette Bening joined Rip and Beth’s show to play Beulah Jackson, the head of a huge ranch in Texas. It was also announced that Ed Harris was cast in the tentatively titled Dutton Ranch as veteran and veterinarian Everett McKinney. Now, it’s been revealed that Jai Courtney has joined this stacked lineup by way of a report from Variety.

In the show, he’ll play Rob-Will, “an imposing, unpredictable ranch foreman.” No other information is given about his character. However, the terms “imposing” and “unpredicable” lean toward him being an antagonist to me.

Plus, he’s been in projects like The Terminal List, Suicide Squad, Terminator Genisys and A Good Day to Die Hard. He’s really no stranger to action, and I think that will play into his role in this show, specifically his relationship with Cole Hauser’s character Rip.

I Think Jai Courtney’s Character Will Be Rip’s Adversary

Now, the simple idea of Jai Courtney and Cole Hauser being in the same show already has me hoping they’ll end up in some kind of big action sequence and/or fight. They really feel like they’d make for great adversaries. However, I think the upcoming Yellowstone show’s logline adds to this idea, too. It states:

That “stiff competition” feels like it could come via Courtney and Bening’s characters. I don’t know if they work on the same ranch or two different operations. However, either way, I think they’ll both be foes for Rip and Beth.

Plus, since Rob-Will is described as an “imposing, unpredictable ranch foreman,” it sounds like he’ll have a similar job to Rip, and I think it makes sense for them to go head-to-head.

Rip’s action-packed fights and darker side have always been one of the fascinating parts of Yellowstone, and that, mixed with his kind relationship with Beth, is what makes their storyline so great. It’s these two aggressive and ruthless people coming together out of genuine love, and that’s a dynamic I want them to continue to explore.

I think one way they can do that is by bringing Jai Courtney in as the next person Rip will want to take to the train station. So, I’m curious to see if his character, Rob-Will, really will face off against Cole Hauser’s cowboy.

At the moment, it’s unclear if Dutton Ranch will premiere on the 2025 TV schedule, but if I had to guess, I think it could come out at the end of this year or early next year. So, hopefully, we’ll get to see Jai Courtney and Cole Hauser face off when Rip and Beth’s spinoff comes to our screens.

Taylor Sheridan's western TV universe is as alive and thriving as ever, with at least three upcoming Yellowstone shows set to debut in the next year or so. While Luke Grimes' Y: Marshalls and its familiar faces might get the biggest live audience at CBS, I dare say fans are most excited about Rip and Beth's new spinoff, which started filming in Texas in August, with a working title of Dutton Ranch that may or may not be the real title. In any case, what IS real is how great this cast is going to be.

We previously learned that Annette Bening joined the spinoff as a formidable ranch owner, and now it's been revealed that esteemed, award-winning actor Ed Harris has joined the cast in a role that doesn't quite fit into what one might expect from the star of such projects as Westworld, Frontera, Sweetwater, Appaloosa, and more.

Ed Harris Will Play Mild-Mannered Everett McKinney

Per Deadline, Ed Harris' new spinoff character won't be a ruthless cowboy hellbent on revenge, and it doesn't sound like he'll be fighting tooth and nail to save his humble ranch. In fact, it doesn't sound at all like the kind of character that he would jump into for a Taylor Sheridan series, where violence and vengeance are loyal bedfellows.

Harris' Everett McKinney is described as being a "weathered veteran," which tracks, but also a veterinarian who possibly treats animals with more care and empathy than he allows for humans. It's also noted that Everett boasts a good sense of humor.

No complaints or anything, but it is wild to think of the hard-edged actor playing a jovial animal-lover in a Yellowstone-verse series. Or any other Taylor Sheridan show, for that matter. I'd also be shocked if Harris was portraying the same character on Landman or Tulsa King.

As such, the majority of my brain is already convinced that Mr. McKinney here has a bunch of awful skeletons in his closet that he hides behind his sense of humor and his ability to cure birds and shit. I can already see it now: Rip calls Everett over to his and Beth's new home to take a look at a sick horse, and the vet will suddenly get PTSD and start blaming Rip for purposefully hurting the animal, and then the all-out massacres start.

With a premiere date that'll likely come after the 2025 TV shedule has wrapped, Rip and Beth's Yellowstone spinoff will likely continue unveiling new cast members in the near future, so stay tuned!

Overzealous TV fans are arguably more common than ever these days, with social media seemingly going a long way to dull down feelings of shame and moral compunction. One might think it’s an issue that younger generations are more guilty of, but that’s not quite the reality that beloved Yellowstone franchise star Cole Hauser is used to, as he revealed that he’s dealt with more than a few older fans getting handsy with him.

Audiences are waiting gleefully to see Hauser’s Rip Wheeler back on the small screen after that deadly Yellowstone series finale, with the actor and co-star Kelly Reilly set to reprise their roles for the upcoming Beth and Rip continuation spinoff. In fact, the two actors are currently filming the new spinoff in North Texas along with new franchise addition Annette Bening, and Hauser addressed the new project while heading up a tasting event for his Lazy K Bar Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Keeping with the boozy subject matter, the Dazed and Confused vet addressed the fact that alcohol has played a role in lowering fan inhibitions when he’s around, to the point where people get grabby. Speaking with Page Six, he shared:

The actor perhaps wisely does not to into detail when it comes to the ages of the women he's referring to when addressing some of his wildest fan encounters. Let's just assume he's talking about mummified Egyptian princesses rising from their tombs, just to be safe.

Of course, Cole Hauser isn't making any blanket statements about all the female fans he's been around, and says he thinks liquor plays a role in sparking such boundary-breaking bravado. As he put it:

Just because the actor's Yellowstone character is married to one of TV's most cocksure female characters, that doesn't mean that fans should get their jollies through physical contact. Let's not forget that Hauser is a married man, and has been betrothed to Cynthia Daniel since 2006. Not that it'd be better if he was single, but still.

Cole Hauser will soon reunite with D&C co-star Matthew McConaughey for a new Netflix project created by True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto, in which the actors will portray brothers. I can only imagine how many stories McConaughey has about fans of all ages pawing his tush. Or rather, I’m fine with not imagining any of that.

With the production currently ongoing, Beth and Rip’s Yellowstone spinoff is currently expected to start streaming via Paramount+ subscription at some point in early 2026, though it’s still possible for a late December premiere to happen, depending on how lengthy the post-production process will be.

We should be getting the Rip and Beth Yellowstone spinoff at some point during the last months of the 2025 TV schedule, and we’re one step closer to that, because they’ve finally started filming. However, they reportedly aren’t filming this Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser-led show in Montana. They’ve moved production to Texas, and that leaves me with a question about what we’re going to see.

What We Know About Where Rip And Beth’s Spinoff Is Being Filmed

Well, the Rip and Beth show, which has the placeholder title Rio Palo – it was also tentatively titled The Dutton Ranch (but Cole Hauser said that’s not its name) – has started filming. According to Collider, they’re hard at work in Ferris, Texas – a small town 20 miles south of Dallas.

Brooks Williams, the Ferris City manager, said that this production coming to town is “a proud and fun moment,” and it showed off the enthusiasm surrounding this upcoming Yellowstone show.

As you likely know, this is a huge shift for Yellowstone. The flagship show was primarily filmed in Montana, with its staple mansion being on Chief Joseph Ranch in Darby, per Elle. While they also shot some of the modern Western in Utah, in Season 4, Montana became the show’s primary home.

So, this move to Texas is a pretty big deal, and leads me to a big question about where exactly Rip and Beth’s show will take place.

So, Will Rip And Beth’s Show Take Place In Montana Or Texas?

Now, after Yellowstone’s ending, I had assumed Rip and Beth’s show would take place on their new ranch in Dillon, Montana. However, the fact that the project is filming in Texas is making me wonder if the series itself will take place in the Lone Star State.

This may seem like an odd theory; however, hear me out. In the final episodes of Yellowstone, Rip and Beth had a big Texas-based storyline, where they traveled down south with the cows and then communicated with the massive 6666 Ranch to try and figure out a way to save their own land. So, they have established connections in Texas.

On top of that, it was announced a few days ago that Annette Bening was cast in the Rip and Beth spinoff as Beulah Jackson, the head of a very large Texas ranch. So…that tells us the state will play a role in the show, and I'm thinking that it's maybe possible that Reilly and Hauser’s characters moved there.

Adding to that theory, right now, the only confirmed cast members are Reilly, Hauser, Bening and Finn Little, who plays Rip and Beth’s adopted son, Carter. With no other confirmed Yellowstone cast set at the moment, I don’t think it’s outlandish to think a big move is coming.

Knowing all this, I have to wonder if Rip and Beth’s show will take place in Texas or Montana. While Big Sky Country seems like the natural fit, considering the last time we saw the main characters, that’s where they were, it’s certainly possible that an even bigger move took place.

We don’t know how much time will have passed between Yellowstone and this new show, and we don’t know how life has changed for Rip and Beth. So, with the series filming in Texas, I can’t help but question if our characters' new on-screen home will be Texas, too, even though they’re best known for being from Montana.

As the 2025 Netflix guide built up all of its hype-worthy offerings–Happy Gilmore 2, Wednesday, the end of Stranger Things, and so many others–I thought it couldn’t get better. But the newly announced project that the streamer just picked up is a delightful surprise that I didn’t know I’d be so hyped about, because it will reunite Dazed and Confused alumni Matthew McConaughey and Cole Hauser

It was confirmed that both the Interstellar star and the Yellowstone actor have been attached to the new show created by Nic Pizzolatto, creator of True Detective, by Variety. Both are also currently working out deals with Netflix as of this posting. We also know that the actors will play brothers. So, based on all that, let's chat about why this is so exciting.

I’m Excited For And Intrigued By McConaughey And Hauser’s Reunion

Although I’m thrilled to have an on-screen reunion between two stars of one of the best high school movies, I’m surprised that Hauser, specifically, is attached. That's mainly because he’s deep in the Taylor Sheridan-verse and is currently working on the new Rip and Beth spinoff series, which is one of many Yellowstone spinoffs in the works. So, with that in mind, I'm curious to see how scheduling will work out for this new series when he's actively working on another major television show.

I also think it's worth noting how much Hauser's star has risen since he started playing Rip on Yellowstone. While he had prominent roles before it, this part has defined this chapter of his career, and I can't wait to see him take on a totally new part while he's also playing his beloved cowboy.

The Oscar winner signing on is intriguing, too. After his brief and then partial hiatus from Hollywood, he made his full return this year with a standing ovation-worthy western, The Rivals of Amziah King. So, I can only imagine this small screen entry with True Detective creator Pizzolatto at his side will be a slam dunk.

All-in-all, I’m hyped about the two McConaughey worlds meeting, and I can't wait to see what this project will become, especially since Dazed and Confused birthed the legendary 'alright, alright, alright' line.

If you couldn’t guess, I love any opportunity to yap about Dazed and Confused. It’s one of those oddball vintage movies that worked off vibes instead, and it was stacked with young stars before they hit it big. And, as mentioned, the coming Netflix Pizzolatto series will star two of the actors from the 1993 flick.

The chaotic coming-of-age film zeros in on the last day of school in 1976 and the events of the cast of characters, including McConaughey’s Peter Pan-like David Wooderson and Hauser’s football-playing, freshman-hazing Benny O'Donnell. It’s a time capsule, and if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it because it’s a you have to see to believe all the goings on.

Conveniently, the Hauser and McConaughey indie classic is available to stream with a Netflix subscription. As for the future Netflix series and their reunion, keep an eye on CinemaBlend for updates about this surprise team-up.

With a lot still left to be learned about Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming western drama The Madison and other in-development spinoffs, the lineup of upcoming Yellowstone series is currently fronted by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Beth and Rip series arriving on Paramount+ near the end of the 2025 TV schedule, and Luke Grimes’ Y: Marshals drama that’ll get a midseason debut on CBS. Though updates about those shows have also been few and far between, we finally have some huge cast and crew additions.

Annette Bening Has Joined The Yellowstone Universe

First and foremost, at least when it comes to on-camera talent, the always excellent Annette Bening was revealed to be the first major new cast member joining the Yellowstone-verse. It marks the latest in a relatively recent embrace of TV projects for the esteemed actress, with 2024’s miniseries adaptation Apples Never Fall being her debut as a small-screen lead. She’ll next be seen opposite Anya Taylor Joy and Timothy Olyphant in the miniseries Lucky, also.

It’s going to take more than luck to keep Bening’s character out of Beth’s crosshairs in the upcoming series. Thankfully the initial description shared by Deadline indicates she’ll be no slouch when audiences meet her.

Her name is Beulah Jackson, and I already cannot wait to hear Beth saying Beulah on a semi-regular basis. She’s the head of a giant ranch in Texas, which grants her quite a bit of power and influence, and she deals equally in charm and guile, which no doubt keeps her friends and enemies alike on their toes.

Beth And Rip's Spinoff Has Added A Showrunner Who Isn't Taylor Sheridan

As the co-creator and main face of Yellowstone and its numerous prequels and spinoffs, not to mention non-Dutton projects like Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King, Taylor Sheridan is the kind of writer who has long chosen to take the reins with as much creative control as possible. As such, I fully expected him to continue leading the charge as the showrunner for the Beth and Rip-led series.

Instead, however, the producers brought in Chad Feehan to guide things behind the scenes as showrunner. Feehan, previously a writer/producer on shows such as Rectify and Banshee, is no stranger to working with Sheridan, at least. He handled showrunning duties on the David Oyelowo-starring western Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which was a top-notch series all around in my book when it comes to story, production aesthetic, casting and more.

So while I'm indeed surprised by this turn of events, I'm not worried or turned off by any means. I'm eager to see how Feehan handles a modern-day Sheridan series. Especially one that's adding Annette Bening to the trio of returning stars Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Finn Little. The only plot information at this point just kind of notes that Beth and Rip will be aiming to make sure Carter becomes a proper man, which of course.

No release date has been set just yet for the new show, but the thought is that it'll be available to stream via Paramount+ subscription in November.

Neal McDonough is very good at playing very bad guys, and my favorite example of that came in Season 2 of Yellowstone. He played Malcolm Beck in the series, and he and his brother were responsible for some of the show's most brutal moments. Now, the actor wants to return as his character for an upcoming Yellowstone show, and I hope Taylor Sheridan is taking notes.

Now, in Yellowstone (which you can do with a Peacock subscription), it’s not 100% confirmed that Malcolm is dead. He was seemingly fatally wounded. However, after John shot him multiple times and offered to take him to a hospital if he gave up the location of Tate, he left him to die alone in a field. And we all should operate under the idea that if we don’t see the dead body with our own eyes, we can’t assume anyone is really dead.

Well, now, Neal McDonough is setting the record straight about Malcolm, as he told Collider that his character is for sure still alive, and he wants to return as him:

You know what? I agree! Bring Malcolm back! He was an absolutely vicious adversary for the Duttons, and I’d love to see how he comes back with a vengeance. I also want to watch how the family responds to his return. Considering John is dead, it’d be fascinating to see the kids fully deal with him, and I think it’d be a compelling way to connect Yellowstone to one of the new series.

Now, it seems like McDonough would like to be part of the Rip and Beth spinoff, which I think makes the most sense. What the Beck brothers did on Yellowstone is not made for CBS, which is where Kayce’s series will live. So, I imagine that his likely violent return would be better suited for Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Paramount Network series, where they won't have to worry as much about what they can and cannot show.

I also think it simply makes more sense that Beck would come for John’s daughter and son-in-law over Kayce. They’re starting a new life and ranch together while Kayce moves into a totally new profession. With that in mind, I think it’d make more sense for old adversaries who came after the Duttons’ land to return for the tentatively titled Dutton Ranch instead of the Luke Grimes-led Y: Marshals.

Along with that, McDonough has a personal connection to Rip and Beth’s show because he’s really good friends with Cole Hauser. So, seeing their chemistry on screen again would be so fun, especially if they get to go head-to-head in a very direct way.

It’s worth noting that the Malcolm actor is also a part of the Taylor Sheridan extended universe. Along with Yellowstone, he’s in the cast of Tulsa King, which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription. This makes his comeback feel more likely.

It’s not uncommon for actors in Sheridan’s shows to jump from program to program – Sam Elliott was in 1883 and will appear in Landman Season 2, Michelle Randolph was in both 1923 and Landman, and Hugh Dillon was in Yellowstone before Mayor of Kingstown. Therefore, I could totally see McDonough jumping back into Beck’s boots for one of these new shows.

Obviously, none of this is confirmed, but the fact that Neal McDonough wants it to happen gives me hope. So, here’s hoping Malcolm Beck comes back to wreak havoc on the Duttons.

Though Kevin Costner’s exit no doubt had a major impact on the Yellowstone franchise’s fandom, Taylor Sheridan isn’t letting it hinder his goals to continue expanding the Dutton family’s narrative lineage. With 1923 wrapping its second season early on in the 2025 TV schedule, followed by a general lack of updates for the next prequel 1944, the future is tethered to the impending Beth and Rip spinoff, which is set to debut in November.

Taylor Sheridan definitely isn’t the only connective tissue between the various projects, as veteran stunt coordinator Jason Rodriguez has been involved with each Dutton-centric series so far, while also teaming with the co-creator for Billy Bob Thornton’s Landman. And he’ll also be handling a lot of the action when Kelly Reilly’s Beth and Cole Hauser’s Rip are back in our lives. When I talked to Rodriguez about his stellar work in the western dramas, I asked what excites him the most about seeing Taylor’s scripts, and he told me:

For someone who enjoys working on horse stunts, I can't imagine any other series on TV or streaming would be a better fit for Jason Rodriguez than Yellowstone and its prequels. From the riding sequences (often set to a mournful country song) to the roping sequences (which tend to use a more jaunty tune) to one-off moments such as that horse-caused death in Season 5.

Considering both Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly are well-versed in horseriding, the chances already seem high that we'll be seeing more horse-favoring stunt sequences in the upcoming follow-up series, which Hauser confirmed is not titled Dutton Ranch, which was first revealed as a working title.

Speaking to the difference between how stunts are handled from the more historically set prequels to Yellowstone's more contemporary setting, Rodriguez said:

Indeed, 1883 featured several hectic action sequences on horseback, with my own favorite being the fateful battle that bookended the season for Isabel May's Elsa Dutton. (Not because it ended in tragedy for the Dutton family, of course, but for being handled so well.) And the closer to the present time the shows get, the wider a variety of stunt sequences are available for Rodriguez to utilize. Can't exactly have a drive-by shooting before cars and roads exist.

The stunt coordinator further stoked my excitement for the upcoming Beth and Rip series when I asked about which cast members he worked with the most, and which appeared to be the most enthused about tackling fight scenes and other stunts. It just so happens those answered largely coincided, as he said:

Rodriguez gave both Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly props for always wanting to be as heavily involved with their characters' stunts as possible. To the point where he gave me a full rundown for how Beth and Jamie’s deadly finale fight was filmed with a minimal use of stunt doubles and edits. Considering that duo will be front and center of the new spinoff, I can only imagine how many new ways Sheridan & Co. will showcase Rip kicking someone in the face.

To be fair, Rodriguez also namechecked Jen Landon as another cast member he loves to work with, championing her willingness to try just about anything for a scene. And he also gave props to Luke Grimes for handling Kayce's stunts on Yellowstone with aplomb.

I talked to Rodriquez around the time CBS confirmed the Grimes-starring spinoff would be a midseason arrival, and I asked then if he knew already whether he'd be handling stunts for the franchise's first broadcast series as well, and he noted potential scheduling issues in saying:

It looks like Rodriguez is handling Landman Season 2, but he hedged a little when it came to the specific projects he had lined up, without making any clear comments about the Michele Pfeiffer-starring spinoff The Madison. I'm hoping he gets to show off his talents in every Yellowstone project under the sun, since the franchise's horse-riding and bitter brawls are always as memorable as anything else in the episodes.

Fans will need to keeps all eyes and ears peeled for more details about when Beth and Rip's spinoff will be premiering, so don't pull those cowboy hats down too far.

While I’m excited for all the upcoming Yellowstone shows, the two premiering on the 2025 TV schedule and in early 2026 that feature the primary characters from the flagship Western are the ones I’m anticipating the most. However, I must admit, I don't love their titles. Both Dutton Ranch (Rip and Beth’s show) and Y: Marshals (Kayce’s series) aren’t my favorite names for shows. However, they’re both working titles. And thankfully, Cole Hauser has provided an update about the name for the Rip and Beth spinoff.

Cole Hauser Confirmed That The Rip And Beth Spinoff Won’t Be Called Dutton Ranch

The release windows for both Kayce’s show and the Rip and Beth spinoff are relatively soon, with the tentatively titled Dutton Ranch expected to come out in late November. However, while the wait to see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser back on our screens isn’t too long, the title is not set in stone yet, as the Rip actor told Fox News:

There you have it, this upcoming Yellowstone spinoff will not be called Dutton Ranch, according to Cole Hauser.

Along with setting the record straight about the title of his series, he also explained how excited and committed he and Kelly Reilly are to continuing their beloved couple’s story, saying:

I’m so sure they really are going to make “something special.” Rip, Beth and their relationship are deeply beloved by Yellowstone fans. So, seeing their story continue feels like a great idea. Thankfully, it shouldn’t be happening under the name Dutton Ranch.

I’m Very Happy It Won’t Be Called Dutton Ranch

My gripes with the name Dutton Ranch are twofold.

First of all, aside from Yellowstone, this franchise doesn’t have the best track record with titles. I’m not a fan of the names 1883 or 1923; they lack creativity and limit the show to only taking place (logically) within one year.

While Dutton Ranch doesn’t have that limiting issue, it does lack the creativity other Taylor Sheridan show titles have – like Yellowstone, Landman, Lioness or Mayor of Kingstown.

For the sake of simplicity, Dutton Ranch fits the bill. However, so do the other aforementioned titles, and they’re a lot catchier to me.

Secondly, I have a hard time with this show being called Dutton Ranch when it will, as far as we know, take place on brand-new land. The Dutton’s ranch is no more after Yellowstone. So, I’d have a hard time shifting this family’s history and ranch to a totally new location.

I realize Beth is a Dutton, so they could name their ranch with her last name. However, again, I think we can get more creative than that and come up with a title that signifies the new chapter Rip and Beth are in.

So, yeah, I’m relieved that Cole Hauser said Dutton Ranch is indeed not the title of his upcoming spinoff. Now, I really can’t wait for the show, because, while what I really just want is to see Rip and Beth’s story continue, I also desperately want to know what their next tale will be called.

Yellowstone may be over, but the Dutton family tree lives on thanks to Kayce, Beth and Rip. Between the end of the 2025 TV schedule and the start of 2026’s programming, we’ll see these characters played by Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser return to our screens in two different upcoming Yellowstone shows. And knowing that they’ll air pretty close together leaves me with two important questions.

We knew that both Dutton Ranch, which is the Rip and Beth spinoff, and Y: Marshals, Kayce’s show, were in the works for a while now. However, now we have confirmed release windows.

During Paramount Global’s Q1 2025 earnings call (via ScreenRant), it was revealed that Rip and Beth’s spinoff would premiere on the Paramount Network (and stream the next day for those with a Paramount+ subscription) in November of this year. Meanwhile, CBS’s 2025-2026 lineup featured Kayce’s series, and specified that it will premiere mid-season as part of the Spring ‘26 programming.

That means, as Dutton Ranch is ending, we’ll be gearing up for the premiere of Y: Marshals, which gives me questions about when these projects will take place and how much crossover there could be.

Will These Shows Take Place At The Same Time?

Odds are, Dutton Ranch will air its finale in December or maybe January, and if I had to guess Y: Marshals will premiere sometime in February (or maybe late January or early March). That means there will be very little time between the two shows in terms of when they air.

That makes me wonder how both projects will fit into the Yellowstone timeline. Will they take place simultaneously? Will Marshals happen right after Dutton Ranch? Could they take place years apart? The options are endless, and I really can’t predict what they might do, which ups my curiosity a lot.

However, it does not change my mind about the fact that Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly should crossover between the two dramas.

How Much Crossover, If Any, Will There Be Between These Shows About The Modern Day Duttons?

When Yellowstone ended, Kayce and Beth went their separate ways. Kayce stayed at East Camp, very close to where the Dutton Ranch once stood. Beth and Rip moved to Dillon, Montana, to live on a new ranch. According to Google Maps, Paradise Valley, where Kayce’s home is, and Dillon are a little over two hours apart if you're driving, so I think it’s logical to believe the family would still see each other.

Plus, Kayce and Beth left things on good terms after they both worked to facilitate the deal to give the ranch to the Broken Rock people. To me, it wouldn’t make much sense if they never saw each other.

So, whether these two shows take place around the same time or years apart, I want to see Kayce on Dutton Ranch, and I’d love to see Beth and Rip on Y: Marshals.

While these Westerns will air on two different networks, they are all under the Paramount umbrella and will be streamable on Paramount+. So, let’s cross these series over, keep the Dutton family together, and make it so all this happens around the same time, so we can see exactly how the Yellowstone story continues.

As fans await the next chapter of Taylor Sheridan’s multi-era western franchise, the most promising upcoming Yellowstone show has seemingly been Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s long-in-development Beth and Rip-centered spinoff, which will serve as a direct follow-up to the mothership series. But as any presumed production starts get ever closer, rumors have started swirling around the project that alleges the two co-stars are trying to take control and make the new show all about their characters.

Now, that might not sound very much live diva behavior to anyone who’s already of the belief that the modern-day offshoot was meant to focus solely on the fan-favorite couple. But let’s not forget that when that project’s existence was first reported on back in February 2023, as Sheridan and Kevin Costner’s issues were causing chaos, the idea was for Matthew McConaughey to join up in a starring role. That deal reportedly fell through, and it’s been a while since any other A-listers passed through the rumor mill.

According to RadarOnline, that could remain the case, with an insider source claiming that Reilly and Hauser are pushing Taylor Sheridan away from the idea of casting anyone else who would have both a higher paygrade and spot on the call sheet. Per the insider, the duo’s alleged demands are kicking up dust.

The outlet also says Keilly Reilly and Cole Hauser are nicknamed the "gruesome twosome" behind the scenes, which is as big a reminder as any that all of these claims should be taken with heaping grains of salt.

Despite claims that certain cast and crew members have taken offense, it seems as though it's generally understood why Reilly and Hauser would want to fight for their characters to be the heart and soul of the show as opposed to a new character whose roots can't be viewed across five seasons of Yellowstone. The insider also said:

Beth and Rip's new spinoff is set to be the first modern-day Yellowstone series available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription, but now that CBS’ Fall TV schedule has been revealed, we know it won't actually be the next follow-up series to debut, as the Kayce Dutton-led spinoff was confirmed for a series order, which would traditionally mean a Winter 2026 midseason premiere, though that would all stem from how quickly the scripts come together.

If Taylor Sheridan truly still isn't off and running by way of crafting Beth and Rip's new show, though, then that could throw a wrench into the development pipeline for Luke Grimes' tentatively titled Y: Marshals. But seeing as how the latter is the only project that officially has a future, maybe it'll take top priority for the prolific creator.

Yellowstone may have ended earlier than anyone anticipated, but we’re nowhere near done with the Duttons. After the flagship show came to a close in 2024, we learned more of their history by way of 1923’s run on the 2025 TV schedule, and ended up with more questions about the Dutton family tree. We also know there’s another Yellowstone prequel coming and some shows that take place after the events of Taylor Sheridan’s first series about this family. Now, we also have a rough idea of when some of these projects are coming out, and I have to say, it’s sooner than I expected.

Yellowstone Reportedly Ended Three Seasons Early

In the turbulent couple of years between the first and second halves of Yellowstone Season 5, there were countless reports about tension between Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan.

Then, in June 2024, it was confirmed that Costner would not return as John Dutton. That was obviously cause for massive change on Yellowstone, seeing as it lost its leading man. However, apparently, it’s also the reason why the Western ended after Season 5. According ot Bloomberg, this Paramount Network series “ended about three seasons before Sheridan had hoped because of a conflict with Costner.”

So, it seems like the plan was to keep Yellowstone going through Season 8, which is wild to think about. However, while things got cut short, a few OG characters are coming back with their own shows, and it seems like they might be gracing our screens sooner rather than later.

However, The OG Characters Are Coming Back For New Shows And We Have An Idea Of When We’ll See Them

Not long after Yellowstone ended, news broke about a Rip and Beth spinoff – now tentatively titled Dutton Ranch. Then, recently, we learned that a Kayce spinoff might be happening at CBS. That means, three of the flagship show’s biggest names, Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes, will all be returning as their beloved characters, and we won’t really be leaving the world of Yellowstone.

However, other than Cole Hauser saying we’d have to “see what happens over the next year,” we really had no indication of when these series would actually get made. Now, this Bloomberg report has given us an idea of the potential release windows.

Reportedly, Dutton Ranch is set to “debut on the Paramount Network in the fall.” That means a 2025 release and a premiere that comes within a year of Yellowstone ending. That’s soon, people! Remember, we waited two years – let me reiterate two years – for the second half of Season 5. So, knowing we might only have to wait one year to see Rip and Beth return is thrilling news.

Along with that, Kayce’s spinoff is apparently “coming to CBS in 2026.” Considering we only learned about this project in March, that feels fairly soon to me.

So, overall, it seems like we’ll be seeing these original and beloved Yellowstone characters back on-screen quite soon, and I’m so here for it!

Not to mention, these two shows are also part of a lineup that includes Michelle Pfeiffer’s The Madison spinoff as well as the prequel, 1944. So, there’s so much Yellowstone coming to fill the void left by the OG series’ early end.

So, have no fear, folks, a bunch of beloved Yellowstone characters are coming back with their own series within the next year and change.

There’s been a dearth of Yellowstone-centric drama since the prequel 1923 wrapped its run earlier in the 2025 TV schedule, but the wait hopefully won’t last forever, with both another prequel (1944) as well as the sequel series headed up by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Beth and Rip going forward, respectively. The latter has so far only been known by its character-based description, but it appears a tentative official title has surfaced, and like others within this franchise, it won’t win any awards for originality.

The name Yellowstone is all-encompassing enough to apply to just about anything, from the state park to the river to the Paradise Valley ranch that the Dutton family held onto for so many years. But beyond that successful designation, Taylor Sheridan’s various dramas have been christened with increasingly more plain and unimaginative names. So perhaps an abundance of shock is not required upon learning that Beth and Rip’s new spinoff will possibly take on the following title, according to Bloomberg:

I realize there's a certain kind of beauty and effectiveness in aiming for the shortest and easiest TV titles, so that there's no confusion over how to pronounce things (such as Amy Sherman-Palladino's new show Étoile). But Dutton Ranch sounds like a placeholder put into play by someone who'd only seen a single title-card poster for the show without ever watching any episodes.

One reason this rumored title might be worthy of appreciation is that it seems to pointedly distinguish Beth and Rip's land as different from the ranch that John Dutton and his ancestors fought so hard to keep as one massive family-owned tract. But I mean, give it a name with some zazz attached. I mean, at this point, they might as well take a page out of Sam Walton's Walmart playbook and just call it Dutranch.

Of course, Beth isn't the only Dutton family member who owns her own land, even if hers is the only one located far away from the family's former home. I'm talking, of course, about Luke Grimes' Kayce. He hilariously set the deal with Rainwater in the Season 5 finale, albeit by hilariously counting his stipulations incorrectly, that secured a permanent piece of land to live on with Monica and Tate.

But this new sequel show presumably wouldn't be accounting for Kayce's land with its title, seeing as how Grimes is reportedly in discussions with CBS for a procedural-leaning spinoff focusing squarely on Kayce.

As we wait to learn whether or not that title turns out to be legitimate, let's take a look at the titles of Taylor Sheridan's other original TV projects.

It's wild that these projects followed the more memorable titles from his cinematic screenplays such as Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Those Who Wish Me Dead. Perhaps the new spinoff will be revealed to have a completely different name, like Family-Owned Land Parcel.

Here's hoping the Dutton Ranch premiere date comes sooner rather than later, with or without an official name change also included. In the meantime, Yellowstone can be streamed in full with a Peacock subscription.

In the lead-up to Yellowstone’s final episodes, there were a lot of questions about how Kevin Costner’s exit would impact the series and the characters. Then, when the last part of Season 5 premiered, it was quickly revealed that John Dutton was killed, and it was his kids’ job to figure out what to do with the ranch. With that in mind, Cole Hauser reflected on his character’s role in the family, and said that Rip’s choices in these final moments were “what John Dutton would want.”

Before saying that, Hauser explained he would be “there 100%” for his wife Beth “and the family.” Also, about a week before the finale aired in December 2024, he said Rip would continue to “figure out the best way forward.” In the end, he told People, that’s “what John Dutton would want,” saying:

I think he’s right; what Rip did is what John would have wanted. He fiercely protected his wife, and at every turn, they both did what they thought was best for the ranch.

While John’s wish was to keep the ranch whole and in his family, and he spent his life fighting to do just that, I don’t think he’d be upset with what Rip, Beth and Kayce did.

By the end of Yellowstone, it was inevitable that the Duttons couldn’t keep that land and maintain it. So, Beth and Rip took Jamie out of the picture while also making sure Market Equities wouldn’t be a problem anymore. That effectively put a stop to the outside corporate forces who were trying to take the property.

Ultimately, the land went back to Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock people, fulfilling the prophecy-like statement made in 1883 when James Dutton was given permission to stay there. By doing this, it could live on untouched by civilization and those who were trying to take it.

That’s thanks to the choices Rip, Beth and Kayce made at the very end, and I think John would have approved. They found a way to keep the land intact while also protecting the family, and I assume Costner’s patriarch would have appreciated all this.

In the end, Rip did what he’d “been taught throughout his life,” he protected the Duttons. He lived up to the expectation set by the Yellowstone brand, and he more than proved his loyalty to Beth and the family as a whole. Therefore, yes, I do think Rip’s actions in the last moments of this show are exactly what John would have wanted.

When I think about the 1923 cast and the Yellowstone ensemble, it’s easy to draw parallels between characters. For example, Harrison Ford’s Jacob is a lot like Kevin Costner’s John and Brandon Sklenar’s Spencer can be easily compared to Luke Grimes’ Kayce. Now, another comparison has been made as Brian Geraghty likened his prequel character, Zane, to Cole Hauser’s Rip. And that got me thinking about the possibility of seeing the origin of the infamous Yellowstone brand when Season 2 premieres.

Why Brian Geraghty’s Zane Is A Lot Like Cole Hauser’s Rip

Ahead of 1923’s premiere on the 2025 TV schedule, Brian Geraghty explained why his character Zane and Yellowstone’s lead ranchhand Rip are a lot alike. Specifically, in a video for 1923’s Instagram, Geraghty said his relationship with Harrison Ford's Jacob mirrors the one between Rip and John:

Then, to make the connection even clearer, the video cut to a clip of Cole Hauser talking about Rip’s job on the ranch. Like Zane, the Duttons really helped and saved him, so he’s ready and willing to protect their land at all costs:

Geraghty went on to say that “loyalty” is the word he keeps coming back to for his character, noting that that means “you fight until you die.” That’s the same mentality Rip and the branded cowboys have, as Hauser reiterated the same point, noting “the ranch comes first, everything else is second.”

Zane is a very similar boat to Rip. The Duttons helped save him and his family, as we saw in Season 1. So, he’s willing to ride with them and he’s loyal to no end, as the actor explained:

This level of loyalty seems to foreshadow the loyalty required with the brand Yellowstone is known for, and we still don’t know when it started. So, this comparison between Zane and Rip has me thinking that we might learn the origins of the brand in Season 2 of 1923.

This Comparison Has Me Wondering If We’ll See The Origins Of The Brand

In a flashback from Yellowstone, Season 5, Episode 8, John tells Rip that “a long time ago” cowboys would “drift in” to work on the Yellowstone and then disappear. Those men were also the people who took part of the Dutton’s herd. After explaining that, the modern patriarch said:

After they started branding people, they stopped losing cows, and so began the infamous Yellowstone tradition. However, a year is not given regarding when this all started…

At the start of 1923, it’s revealed that Jacob and Cara turned the Dutton ranch into an empire, and I think it’d make sense if they were also the generation who began branding. They’re at a turning point right now, and to survive winter and their adversaries they need loyal cowboys.

I could see the story of the missing cows and the start of the brand happening during this time too, because it feels like such a vital act that helps the ranch assert its dominance.

Plus, Zane’s loyalty to his boss as well as the comparison to Rip shows that he’d likely be willing to wear the brand as well as dole it out when needed – just like Hauser’s character.

Therefore, I think we might get to see the origins of this time-honored and brutal Yellowstone tradition when 1923 returns for Season 2 on February 23. So buckle up folks, make sure your Paramount+ subscriptions are ready and know where your allegiances lie, because if I’ve learned anything from Yellowstone, it’s that you always want to be on the side of the Y.

So, yes, Yellowstone is over. I get that. However, the number of upcoming Yellowstone shows, and specifically the new Rip and Beth spinoff, don’t have me feeling all sorts of sentimental about leaving the Montana ranch. That's because, to quote Taylor Swift, it feels like the “end of a decade, but the start of an age.” However, Cole Hauser was feeling emotional about it all in a video about Taylor Sheridan’s flagship show. While I feel like it was a bit much (since he will be playing Rip again), it also sparked a theory about his new show and how connected it will be to the OG series.

Cole Hauser’s Comments About Yellowstone Ending

Now, don’t get this twisted, I think Hauser’s comments are sweet, and Season 5’s final episodes did indeed mark an end of sorts. However, in Yellowstone’s Instagram video about the “lasting legacy” of this series, what he said gave off the vibe that he would never play Rip again, and that’s not the case at all. Before we get into that though, here’s what the actor said:

Isn’t that giving off the energy that he's saying goodbye to Rip? I guess he may not have known about the spinoff when they filmed this interview, but, oddly, it was released long after we learned about the Rip and Beth spinoff and saw the end of Yellowstone’s final season.

However, it’s important to note that I think Hauser is being very genuine here. And the more I ruminate on his comments, the more I start to theorize about just how involved the other Duttons and characters from Yellowstone will be in his new spinoff.

I Have A Theory That This Might Mean The Rip And Beth Spinoff Is Very Disconnected From Yellowstone

At the end of Yellowstone, John Dutton’s family ranch was given back to the Indigenous people who lived there long before them, and Beth and Kayce went their separate ways. While Kayce negotiated a deal to keep one small portion of his family’s land, Beth moved away with her husband Rip and their basically adopted son Carter to Dillon, Montana.

Going into Rip and Beth’s spinoff, I assume we’ll pick up where we left off, their new home. My guess is that the old Dutton ranch and most of the characters they interacted with there won’t be involved, and Hauser’s sentimental comments about saying goodbye to Yellowstone make me believe this theory even more.

While I assume Carter and Lloyd will be part of Rip and Beth’s story, I don’t really think anyone else will be. Other than the fact that these characters were on Yellowstone, I don’t see their new show having much to do with the old one. Hauser’s recent comments about wrapping everything up and moving on only add more fuel to this theory fire I have cooking.

Overall, I think Rip and Beth’s new show will be very disconnected from Yellowstone and feature a new home, new characters and new challenges. So, while I still find Hauser's comments about the OG show ending a bit over-emotional, I do get where he was coming from.

Now, the wait is really on to see what will happen when we finally see Rip and Beth again. However, in the meantime, you can stream Yellowstone, and see where Hauser and Kelly Reilly’s journeys began, with a Peacock subscription.

When I found out that Rip and Beth were getting a spinoff following the Season 5 finale of Yellowstone, I immediately started wondering what other characters could be involved in their show. Namely, Carter and Lloyd are the two I’ve been thinking about, because they are the closest to the couple set to lead this project. So, with that in mind, you can imagine how excited I got when Lloyd actor Forrie J. Smith posted about the future of Yellowstone.

Taking to Instagram to reflect on the New Year and the loss of his friend and legendary barrel racer Sammy Thurman Brackenbury, Forrie J. Smith posted a simple video of him talking to the camera while wearing a Yellowstone-branded vest. At the very end, he also plugged the show he’s been on for years and hinted at its future. Without giving anything away, the Lloyd actor said:

For reference, Ring was, as Smith said on TikTok, the "head of the Yellowstone addicts" and a big fan of the show. Then, he went on to talk about the man who created Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan. As he said, fans should not assume this story is over just yet...and I'm hoping that means Lloyd will come back too.

When Cole Hauser spoke about Rip's future, he did note that “hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms.” He also said we’ll all have to wait and see “what happens over the next year or so.” As of right now, a spinoff about the beloved Yellowstone couple, Rip and Beth, has not been confirmed by Paramount. However, reports say that both Hauser and Kelly Reilly have allegedly signed deals to reprise their roles.

So, it’s clear they aren’t done with their Yellowstone characters. It seems like Forrie J. Smith is on the same page.

As he said, Taylor Sheridan has not said anything is over, and as the famous saying goes “It ain’t over until it’s over.” Therefore, it seems logical that Lloyd could return in some capacity, and I think the Rip and Beth spinoff makes the most sense.

At the moment there are a few upcoming Yellowstone shows coming down the pipe. This includes The Madison, 6666 and the Rip and Beth show. It’s possible that Lloyd could appear in any of these. However, it feels most logical that he’d end up with Hauser and Reilly on their show.

This was proven to me at the end of Season 5 when Rip offered the ranchhand a bed and job at his new ranch in Dillon. Hauser’s character made it very clear that out of every cowboy working for the Duttons, the two who could stay with him after they left were Carter, who is basically his son, and Lloyd, his best friend.

It seems natural that Lloyd would stick with Rip, and I really want him to too. They get along so well, they’ve supported each other through so much, and it’d be nice to have another clear string that connects Rip and Beth’s next story back to Yellowstone.

However, ultimately, only time will tell on that front. We don’t know any big details about what’s coming next for Yellowstone and its spinoffs. Although, Smith’s comments seem to allude to the idea that he’s not done cowboying for Taylor Sheridan and being part of the Yellowstone cast yet. So, fingers crossed he returns with Rip and Beth for their new series!

I’ll never forget the fact that we had to wait two years for the final episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season. However, it’s also not lost on me that most of Taylor Sheridan’s other shows move through filming quickly, and we are watching them not too long after we learn about production starting. Now, these two juxtaposing facts leave me with lots of questions about the Rip and Beth spinoff and when we’ll see it. However, Cole Hauser’s comments about what’s next give me hope about a release date.

A few weeks before Yellowstone came to an end, it was announced that Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly would reprise their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton in a spinoff. A few days after that news was announced, the actor spoke with People about how fans had reacted to Season 5 and what’s next for his character, saying:

Did you read that? He said “over the next year or so,” that makes me think we’ll be seeing our favorite Yellowstone couple back on our screens sooner rather than later. And I really think that could happen too.

Between Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Yellowstone shows and his Paramount+ dramas, it’s clear that he can juggle a lot and release projects often. In the last few months of 2024 alone, we got Yellowstone, Lioness and Landman. Plus, Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown came out earlier in the year too. Not to mention, the second season of 1923 is on the 2025 TV schedule for a February 23 release.

So, I have no doubt that this prolific writer can get this Rip and Beth show off the ground in the next year while also releasing 1923 and working on his other Yellowstone series, The Madison.

Hauser’s comments seem to suggest that he has an idea about where Rip and Beth’s story and romance are going, and after Yellowstone’s finale, we know it’ll likely follow their lives in Dillon. Now, I have questions about who else will be involved and how connected it will be to the flagship series.

Carter did move with Rip and Beth, so I assume he’ll be in the series. However, will Lloyd or any of the other bunkhouse boys be there? Could Kayce pop in from time to time? Will Jamie’s end impact Hauser and Reilly’s characters and their futures? The questions are endless but also exciting, and knowing that we’ll get some sort of answers through this new show makes me happy. What makes me even happier is knowing we could get this new drama within the next year or two!

As Yellowstone came to an end on the 2024 TV schedule, I realized one plot point was never addressed: Rip didn't find out what Jamie did to Beth when they were kids. Wes Bentley’s character giving a clinic permission to abort Kelly Reilly's character's baby and make her sterile is the lynchpin of Jamie and Beth’s feud. So, considering all of this and the fact that it’s the reason why Rip and Beth can’t have biological children, it feels weird that they never addressed the fact that Cole Hauser's character never found out about all this in the final episodes.

To recap, in the final episode of Yellowstone’s fifth season, Beth avenged her dad and got her revenge by killing Jamie. The two’s decades-long feud finally reached a head, and Reilly’s character beat her brother to a pulp before he died. Then, Rip showed up and took care of the body.

Now, to an extent, I understand why all this happened without Rip finding out that Jamie is the reason why Beth can’t have kids. If he found out about the abortion clinic and the choice to make her sterile, Hauser’s character likely would have gone into a rage and killed his wife’s brother without thinking twice about it.

Beth needed to be the one to take out Jamie, that much is clear. So, in that way, I get why she never told Rip. And overall, I liked how Beth and Jamie’s story came to a close.

However, this feels like a massive, massive plot point that feels incomplete, because Rip still does not know. Rip and Beth are married. They tell each other everything. So, this feels like a pretty big thing to not disclose to your significant other at some point or another – especially when the guy who caused all this is still alive.

While I don’t think Rip finding out about all this in any universe would end well for Jamie, I would have liked all three of them to get some closure on this massive life-altering event.

Also, for the most part, every plot line was wrapped up in the finale of Yellowstone. Jamie died. Kayce freed himself from his family's land and Rainwater got the ranch. Rip, Beth and Carter moved to a new ranch to start a new life. Even the bunkhouse boys got endings to their stories. However, this massive shadow still looms over Beth and Rip, because he’s still not aware of what truly caused her rivalry with her brother and why they can’t have kids, and that bothers me.

It feels weird to address it in the Rip and Beth spinoff, because the other person involved in the whole conflict is dead. Maybe Beth just wants to move forward and forget her past. However, I have a sinking feeling it will all come back, and I don’t want to see it harm Hauser and Reilly characters’ relationship because she didn’t tell him sooner.

Overall, not addressing this plot point in the final season of Yellowstone feels like an oversight, and now it’s hard for me to fathom how it could be addressed moving forward. I don’t love the idea of Rip never knowing about this event that changed his partner’s life forever. However, I also respect Beth’s want to keep this a secret.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s addressed in Rip and Beth’s upcoming Yellowstone show, and in the meantime, we can all go back and rewatch Yellowstone on Peacock to see how all these dynamics developed and culminated in the death of Jamie Dutton.

Thankfully, Yellowstone did indeed pay off on one long-promised death, while also boosting my spirits with a surprise reveal that could potentially shake up our expectations for the 6666 spinoff, which could really use a behind-the-scenes update or two at this point. Let’s take a closer look — though from a safe, DNA-safe distance — at one of the western drama’s most ruthless and gripping hand-to-hand brawls.

Beth Finally Murdered Jamie, But Only After A WWE-Esque Kitchen Brawl

With Beth and Rip’s spinoff already set to carry Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s characters into a new arc or two, I had the innate fear that Sheridan would make an ill-advised call to stave off murdering Jamie so that the heated sibling feud could extend into the continuation series. That fear built up after Jamie’s only early scenes were entirely about his press conference speech.

Thankfully for all involved, except for maybe Wes Bentley, Jamie Dutton did indeed meet his maker with a broken face, a deep stab wound, and pepper spray still burning his ever-shifty eyes. And Beth didn’t waste a single second after leaving John’s burial to drunkenly hit the road with Jamie in her crosshairs.

I probably would have been disappointed had Beth quickly taken Jamie out without him realizing what was happening, No such worries with this ep, however. Jamie was barely in the door after his public address before Beth rearranged his face with a tire iron and covered most of his torso in pepper spray. Which then led to one of the most frightening Yellowstone visuals imaginable: Jamie’s bloody face completely covered in milk.

Nearly as horrifying is the brutality of Beth and Jamie’s fight, with the older brother getting way more wallops on Beth’s face, even if he was only using his weak and stupid Jamie fists. (Take that, ya dumb corpse.) But it turns out Beth had a reason to let Jamie beat the shit out of her, even if he likely took it further than she thought, since she needed as many bodily injuries as she could incur to sell her story to the cops.

That said, Rip supposedly left an hour after Beth did, but was able to burst into Jamie’s house in the nick of time and stop him from choking her to death. We’ll let that one go, since Beth was waiting in the house before Jamie got home, but still.

In any case, the episode ended with Beth and Rip at their new property outside of Dillon, seemingly without any worries about Jamie’s wrapped-up body or incinerated vehicle being found. I have to wonder if that safety will be threatened in the upcoming spinoff, or if they’ll have other worries to contend with.

I Love That Teeter Gets A Happy Ending, And Hope She's In The 6666 Spinoff

For a much happier ending, we turn to Jen Landon's Teeter, who has been dealing with more than her share of emotional on-screen moments tied to Colby's truly tragic death-by-horse in "Counting Coup." She's been down to some low depths that not even card-game shenanigans could completely shake her out of at first, and didn't seem to have a clear future to follow her time cowboying it up at the Yellowstone, which was sold off to Rainwater.

However, Jimmy and Emily's return for the funeral gave Teeter a chance to carve a new path forward for herself by traveling down to Texas to try her hand working with...errr...for Travis. Not that the gig seems like it would be easy in the slightest, since Travis is a strict sumbitch whose natural instinct is to troll his employees into submission, but it's a step in a positive and grounded direction that she didn't have before.

Teeter has been one of my favorite Yellowstone regulars since she arrived, and is one of the few TV characters whose dialogue I actually enjoy putting closed captioning on to decipher. Landon makes the character feel completely lived in despite only getting a few minutes an episode at most to show off her skills. I'll miss her the most if we don't ever touch base with her again, but...

I'm really hoping that Teeter's story conclusion means Landon will be revealed as a new addition to the 6666 cast, since Yellowstone's flagship ending means the ranch-based spinoff has more of a reason to exist and carry on these characters' stories. All this time, I've been wholly thinking Ryan Bingham's Walker would be the only other Yellowstone regular joining Jefferson White's Jimmy in Texas, and it seems like that could still happen with his and Laramie's story feeling pretty open-ended.

But while it'll be great to see them again and all, Teeter getting a happy ending is quite possibly my favorite thing about Yellowstone's final six episodes. So for that, and for plenty of other memorable moments across all five seasons, I thank Taylor Sheridan and all the widlly talented cast members for keeping us in the Duttons' lives. And also for killing off Jamie, for all of the obvious reasons.

It’s unclear when the entirety of Season 5 will be available to stream with a Peacock subscription, but it’ll likely happen before the next season of a modern-day Yellowstone spinoff airs. 1923 Season 2 is set to hit the 2025 TV schedule on February 25, with the Michelle Pfeiffer-starring The Madison coming at some point later.

The final episode of Yellowstone’s fifth season is about to air on the 2024 TV schedule, and I’m feeling all kinds of ways about it. After two years of waiting for these episodes and knowing that this is the definitive end of a chapter, emotions are high as I comprehend the fact that this might be the last time we see these characters together. To make matters even more emotional, Cole Hauser posted a group photo from their last day on set, and now I really need a box of tissues.

To commemorate this momentous occasion in Yellowstone history, Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, took to his Instagram to post the sweetest photo of the bunkhouse cast. He noted in his caption that this was from their “last day together on set,” and they truly look like one big happy family, take a look:

To break it down, from left to right, the image features Ryan Bingham (Walker), his real-life wife and on-screen girlfriend Hassie Harrison (Laramie), Jen Landon (Teeter), Hauser, Finn Little (Carter), Forrie J. Smith (Lloyd), Jake Ream (Jake), Kelly Reilly (Beth), Ian Bohen (Ryan) and Ethan Lee (Ethan). So, basically, the whole gang (except for Colby, Jimmy, Kayce and a few others) is there.

It’s truly such a precious photo of the bunkhouse boys and Beth, and the way they’re all hugging each other and smiling makes me incredibly happy. Turns out, the ensemble had a similar reaction, as many members of the Yellowstone family took the comments to write things like:

Meanwhile, other staples from the Yellowstone cast made sure to give Hauser’s post a like. That list included Reilly, Smith, Bohen and Denim Richards – who wasn’t pictured and played the sadly late cowboy Colby. So, the whole bunkhouse was showing all the gratitude via these sweet Instagram interactions, and I absolutely love to see it.

Truthfully, as I mentioned, this post makes me emotional. At the time of this writing, we’re a little over 24 hours away from the finale of Yellowstone, which is a monumental moment. This series has been such a tentpole in my personal TV guide, and we waited so long for these final episodes. So, knowing that the end is soon, and the cast has said their goodbyes makes me feel all the bittersweet emotions.

I know there’s a Rip and Beth spinoff and other new Yellowstone shows in the works, and we’re going to see Hauser, Reilly and probably others in their iconic roles again. However, that will be a new thing. This upcoming episode of Yellowstone feels like the end of an era, and it’s probably the last time we’ll see the essentially entire cast together.

So, yeah, I’m in my feels about all this, and I will continue to be as Yellowstone airs its final episode tomorrow – Sunday, December 15 – at 8 p.m. on the Paramount Network.

A Rip and Beth spinoff is happening. In the lead-up to the final episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season, there had been questions flying left and right about whether Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser would reprise their roles as their beloved characters. Well, now it’s in the works, and based on what we know, this series – which has the working title Dutton Ranch – has quite a few things going for it (but I also have some questions).

Rip And Beth Spinoff Quick Facts

Days before the final episode of Yellowstone’s fifth season aired in 2024, Deadline reported that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser would be leading a spinoff. So, now that it’s been months since that news broke, here are the basics of what's been reported so far:

• Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will return as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
• Finn Little will also return to play Carter.
• Chad Feehan will serve as showrunner.
• It will take place in the present day.

What The Beth And Rip Yellowstone Spinoff Already Has Going For It

Kelly Reilly And Cole Hauser Are Reprising Their Roles As Beth Dutton And Rip Wheeler

Considering Beth and Rip are a beloved couple on Yellowstone and they’re two incredibly strong characters, it’s not shocking that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have been tapped to lead a spinoff.

In August of 2024, it was reported that Yellowstone was reversing its plans to end on Season 5, because Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were in talks to keep playing their characters after the last episodes. At the time, it was unclear if this would be for a sixth season or a spinoff. However, according to Deadline’s report confirming their comeback, it will be for a sequel series, not another season of Taylor Sheridan’s flagship show.

Both actors have been asked about the prospect of this project on numerous occasions. Back in September of 2024, Reilly noted that a new chapter for Beth and Rip was being talked about, and that “if Taylor [Sheridan] wants to write it, [she] would want to do it.” Along with her, Hauser said he’d love to do a spinoff, noting how much he’s adored working on Yellowstone.

Hauser also confirmed that Dutton Ranch is not the title of the show; however, we also still don’t know what its official name will be.

Finn Little Will Be Returning As Carter, While The Series Has Also Added A-List Actors To The Cast

Along with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, Finn Little will be reprising his Yellowstone character in this new spinoff, per Deadline. He played Carter in the flagship show, and he’s slated to return as Rip and Beth’s essentially adopted son, which makes sense, considering he was with them when they moved to a new ranch at the end of the flagship series.

At the moment, no other Yellowstone cast members have been confirmed. However, some heavy-hitting A-listers have. This includes Annette Bening, who will play Beulah Jackson, a woman who runs a huge ranch in Texas. Along with her, Ed Harris has joined the spinoff as Everett McKinney, a “weathered veteran” and veterinarian.

Now, the question is: Who will round out the cast? Well, we’ll speculate about that later.

Taylor Sheridan Is Developing The Yellowstone Spinoff, With Chad Feehan Set As Showrunner

The initial Deadline report confirming Beth and Rip’s new spinoff also announced that Taylor Sheridan is “working on the creative for the new show.”

However, he will not be running the show. Chad Feehan will take that role and serve as showrunner. Feehan is no stranger to the Sheridan-verse, as he was the showrunner on Lawmen: Bass Reeves. He also served as a writer and EP on Ray Donovan and Banshee. So, while it’s odd that this series isn’t being fully run by Yellowstone’s creator, it is in good hands.

The Rip And Beth Spinoff Should Be Released In Late 2025

It would seem that we’ll be getting the Rip and Beth show sooner rather than later. Earlier this year, during Paramount Global’s Q1 2025 earnings call, the release windows for this series and Kayce’s spin-off were announced. While Luke Grimes’ Y: Marshals will hit CBS in the new year, it would appear that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s show will premiere this year, with the report stating it could come in November (almost exactly one year after Yellowstone’s final season aired).

So, we shouldn’t have to wait too long.

Questions I Have About The Rip And Beth Spinoff

Where Will It Take Place?

So, the primary issue in Season 5 of Yellowstone was about how Kayce and Beth were going to save the ranch from Market Equities. At the end of Episode 13, Luke Grimes' character proposed a plan to basically give the ranch away.

It ended up going to Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation. Meanwhile, Kayce kept his home at East Camp while Rip and Beth moved to Dillon, Montana, with Carter.

Considering the end of Yellowstone, I had assumed Rip and Beth’s show would take place on this new ranch. However, after we learned that the series was being filmed (at least in part) in Ferris, Texas, the setting became unclear. Will they stay in Montana or move to the Lone Star state? That’s the question on the table now.

Will Anyone Else From The OG Cast Be Involved?

I don’t think it’d make much sense to do this show without some of the original Yellowstone cast. Thankfully, the report that confirmed Reilly and Hauser's comebacks did indicate that the project would “likely feature other cast members from the mothership series.” Months later, Finn Little’s involvement was revealed; however, outside of that, no one else has been confirmed to reprise their roles.

When it comes to other big actors returning, like Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton and Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater, I have no clue if they’ll be involved. However, I’m hopeful that they will guest star, especially since they’ll both be in Y: Marshals alongside other Yellowstone alums, Brecken Merrill, who plays Tate and Mo Brings Plenty, who plays Mo.

Meanwhile, logically, it seems like Lloyd is an obvious character to bring back. Forrie J. Smith’s branded cowboy is Rip’s closest friend. He’s the character closest to the leading couple. Plus, in the penultimate episode of Yellowstone Season 5, Rip said he wanted to keep him and Carter around the ranch even if it all got sold.

So, even though we don't know who will be coming back for this show, we also know it won't just be Reilly and Hauser.

Will The Series Air On Paramount+?

This topic is a semi-tricky one. Odds are, if you follow Taylor Sheridan’s work, you have noticed that almost all his shows – including Yellowstone’s spinoffs 1883 and 1923 – are available to stream exclusively with a Paramount+ subscription. However, the mothership show is not. The modern Western has spent its whole run airing on the Paramount Network weekly, and it has an exclusive deal with NBC Universal, meaning it’s only streamable with a Peacock subscription. So, that begs the question: Will the Rip and Beth spinoff be available on Paramount’s streaming platform?

The short answer is yes. According to THR and Esquire, the series will be on Paramount+. However, there’s more to this story.

In Deadline’s report confirming the news, a source indicated that making a new series about Rip and Beth rather than a sixth season of Yellowstone could make it so the new story can live on Paramount+, because:

With all that being said, we should see Rip and Beth with their Dutton ancestors over on Paramount+ in late 2025.

Yellowstone Shows In Order

I know there are numerous upcoming Yellowstone shows to keep track of, including this new one about Rip and Beth. So, with that in mind, here’s a list of all the anticipated series in order, as well as the basic information we know about them:

Overall, this new series all about Rip and Beth is a thrilling prospect, and I can’t wait to see it. It will mark the first Yellowstone spinoff that stars two of the principal characters from the original series, and odds are it will be a continuation of the story about the Duttons that we know and love.

Another day, another Yellowstone character death to mourn, though once again it wasn’t exactly predictable, and I didn’t expect to see Colby’s murder-by-horse play out in the back half of Season 5. But while we’re giving Denim Richards’ character all the R.I.P. love, that’s not what I’m here to talk about following the events of “Counting Coup.” Rather, I want to talk about the preview for the penultimate episode, and why it has fans thinking Season 6 is definitely among upcoming Yellowstone projects.

Yellowstone Previews Keep Referring To The "Season" Finale

For quite a while now, fans have anticipated the back half of Season 5 serving as the final chapter of the Dutton family’s saga, with Kevin Costner’s exit seemingly stemming the need for more seasons. That is, until the point when Season 6 rumors started making waves well before the spinoff The Madison was confirmed and ordered up. Then it seemed like an official announcement about the future was coming, only to never materialize.

And now fans are looking to the show’s upcoming-episode previews as a sign of potential proof that Yellowstone will survive even beyond the shocking death of John Dutton and its presumed resolution. Because here’s how the preview voiceover dude words things as the footage plays out:

That statement technically isn't wrong, but carries the implication that the season finale won't be the endgame for this western drama, even though no one at Paramount Network or from Taylor Sheridan's camp has confirmed anything else is coming beyond prequels and spinoffs. Regardless of what's been confirmed or not, fans were definitely aware enough to catch the specific language used in the promo, as seen by the smattering of reactions seen below.

Granted, those posts came among a similarly sized batch of harrowing reactions to all the bloodshed going down in these episodes, and how there may not be any characters left to lead a sixth season if the next two episodes continue this body-dropping trend.

Why I'm Skeptical About Anything Seen Or Shown In Yellowstone Previews

Seemingly more so this season than any other in the past, Yellowstone has gone the Grey's Anatomy route when it comes to future-episode previews. In the sense that the teasers are setting up highly dramatic moments that don't actually play out anywhere nearly as interestingly as they do in the promos.

For instance, the longer preview containing footage from the rest of the season featured several moments, such as Rip throwing a glass into the fireplace, that seemed to be teasing wild moments. But in this case, "Counting Coup" revealed he was lightly coaxed into throwing the glass by Beth, who said it would help keep him from bottling up his feelings about Colby's death. Interesting and helpful, sure, but not so dramatic.

As well, the Season 5B trailers hyped up Kayce throwing Jamie across his desk, but that ended up being the only big physical moment during that sequence, with Wes Bentley's character convincing his brother that he wasn't responsible for John's death. Hoodie-wearing Kayce threatening the man who set up John's death also seemed like it would be far more hectic and thrilling in the previews, as opposed to just a short car ride. (Granted, the military vet holding a child at gunpoint was wild, but not quite in the same way.)

It's not a new trick for TV trailers to set audiences up for one thing only to pull off something else entirely, but it's not a trick that Yellowstone has had to fall back on very much, since the series built up its core audience without such endless arrays of hype. But now that we're perhaps so close to the end, all the stops are being pulled out.

So while I will be just as happy and celebratory as anyone else if Paramount Network officially confirms Season 6 is coming to the 2025 TV schedule, I don't necessarily think that the trailers' specific wordage is proof of anything.

In the episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season that have aired on the 2024 TV schedule, it’s abundantly clear that Beth and Rip are worried about the ranch and stumped over how to save it. They know John Dutton’s vision isn’t attainable, and it’s something they made evident in the first half of Season 5. So, as we continue to watch these final episodes, I can’t help but think about Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s comments regarding why their characters are worried about Kevin Costner’s patriarch losing his land.

Before I saw Season 5B’s premiere, I had the chance to interview the Yellowstone cast, and specifically Hauser and Reilly, about what’s to come. Thinking about Rip and Beth’s relationship and shared view on the ranch’s future, I asked them why both had voiced their concerns in the first half of the season – knowing it’d be applicable in the episodes airing now.

In response, Kelly Reilly reflected on her character’s worries about her father’s strategies to save the ranch, saying:

While Beth adores her father and it’s clear that with John Dutton dead she wants to protect his legacy, as Reilly said, “something’s got to give.” She went on to elaborate on this struggle her character is feeling, noting that Beth knows that this business is dying and she’s not sure how to save it:

That conversation happens toward the end of Season 5A (which you can stream with a Peacock subscription), and it mirrors the worries Rip talked about in the season premiere.

Back when John was elected governor, a big party was held at the Yellowstone. Cole Hauser’s character was up on a hill watching it and worrying about what the ranch had come to, telling Beth that John was “gonna lose this place.” That’s a mentality that’s maintained in these new episodes too, and the actor behind the cowboy broke down why his character is concerned, saying:

Reilly doubled down on that point too, she noted that this scene showed the Dutton Ranch leaning into the tourism and spectacle that John had been trying to avoid:

Hauser reiterated that again, saying that to Rip, that moment was “the beginning, in his mind, to the end of Yellowstone.”

That worry has rumbled through Rip and Beth’s storylines, particularly in Season 5B. It was very apparent when Hauser and Reilly’s characters were in Texas, specifically. I could feel their gears turning as they took in the 6666 Ranch and tried to figure out how to make their Montana-based business successful.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see how they try to modernize and monetize the ranch in a way that preserves John Dutton’s vision for it. Clearly, they can’t do exactly what the patriarch wanted, there’s no way that’ll work. However, both Rip and Beth adore him and that land, so I know they’ll do whatever they can to save it.

This struggle between honoring John’s legacy and knowing his dream will fail is one of the things making these last episodes of Yellowstone so tense and interesting to me. While there are plenty of outside issues threatening the ranch, this romantic idea of preserving it has also caused its fair share of problems.

Now, everything is coming to a head, and Rip and Beth are trying to fix it. The question now is: Can they? We’ll just have to wait and find out on that one as Season 5B of Yellowstone continues to air on Sundays at 8 p.m. on the Paramount Network.

Absence often makes the heart grow fonder, whether we’re talking about long-distance relationships, kids going off to college, or one of TV”s most popular shows being off the air for nearly two full years. Yellowstone finally returned with the final episodes of Season 5 (without confirming yet if Season 6 is happening or not), though without Kevin Costner’s John Dutton as the central patriarch. And it somehow managed to earn the western drama’s biggest audience ever to date.

The midseason premiere revealed John Dutton’s fate in quite the gobsmacking way, with its pre-opening credits sequence confirming that the Montana governor was murdered in a way that made it appear he'd committed suicide. With Jamie's vengeful comments having sparked Sarah Atwell to set those lethal plans in place, he'll likely be destroyed by Beth in the very near future. But before that happens, let's all open our eyes as big as Tate's head and check out these wildly impressive ratings stats.

"Desire Is All You Need" Was Yellowstone's Biggest Debut Ever

Already, Yellowstone seemed destined to take over the ratings game well before it actually came back, just based how wildly popular the show got between the third and fourth seasons. Add to that all the newer viewers that were accumulated during the extended hiatus, thanks in part to CBS airing the first two seasons during the strikes. And such expectations were not dashed in the slightest.

Yellowstone's midseason premiere brought in 16.4 million viewers on Sunday night alone across both cable and broadcast, with CBS also serving as a co-launch spot for that episode alone. (Not to mention CMT and other Paramount channels simulcasting it.) That number alone crushes just about any other kind of TV programming outside of NFL games and select other sports contests.

But the news gets even more impressive once Live + 3 Day delayed viewing stats are totaled up. According to Paramount, the total viewership rose an impressive 29%, with somewhere around 5 million additional pairs of eyeballs joining the fray.

So at this point, "Desire Is All You Need" has been viewed by more than 21 million people, which easily makes it the most-watched Yellowstone ep for such a short time period. While those kinds of numbers used to be the norm during the '90s and early 2000s, it's generally rare for shows to break into double digits before Live + 7 or Live + 30 stats are measured.

On the one hand, it makes total sense, since so many millions of people were eager to learn how Taylor Sheridan & Co. handled John Dutton's story in lieu of Kevin Costner's exit. The lead-up to the return was kept behind a veil of secrecy that was even more prominent than the follow-up to the explosions that capped off Season 3's cliffhanger ending.

Still, it's shocking to see that this series could somehow eclipse itself even without the mega movie star that helped drive the audience up to such levels in the first place. That's Yellowstone math for you.

Yellowstone Became Paramount+'s Biggest Debut Outside The U.S.

Paramount also confirmed that Yellowstone isn't just a top dog domestically, but it's also become the biggest premiere internationally for any series launch day on Paramount+. Those specific numbers weren't disclosed, but it's confirmed that the episode bypassed all other Yellowstone premieres to take the top spot.

The western drama is said to be the biggest source of traffic and viewership for Paramount+ outside the U.S., where streaming rights are tied to Peacock subscriptions. It's apparently also the biggest driver of new subscriptions in various other countries where the service is offered.

It'd be great to know just how well the show is doing with key demographics, but those detailed stats may not be available for a spell. Paramount is still embroiled in a contractual disagreement with Nielsen, so the studio's viewership stats are technically estimations based on a number of different data points, but likely are close enough to the real numbers that the announcement won't come back to bite them like a tent-breaching rattlesnake.

Yellowstone airs Sunday nights on Paramount Network at 8:00 p.m. Anybody else keeping their minds open for Kevin Costner to make a cameo return in the finale?

Filming Yellowstone in Montana is no joke. The cast goes through cowboy camp, they deal with the harsh seasons that come with the state, and they do a great job of showing off Montana’s beauty through the ranching scenes. Now, we’re seeing a whole new side of ranching as Rip and some of the bunkhouse moved to Texas with the herd. That meant production moved to Texas too, and Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly told me about the challenges that came with filming in this new environment.

Ahead of Yellowstone’s Season 5B premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, I spoke to Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser about Rip and Beth’s story. That included us chatting about their characters making their way to Texas to help save the Yellowstone’s cows. Both actors didn’t hold back when it came to the big challenges of filming in The Lone Star State, and Reilly even explained that they had to have a snake wrangler on set:

Yes, you read that right, they had a snake wrangler. That’s honestly wild to think about. However, after seeing the Season 5B premiere, it makes sense. The harsh conditions of Texas are directly addressed in the show as Rip and the cowboys are warned about the wind, and they have quite the experience with a scorpion on their first night out there.

Along with the various reptiles and arachnids the Yellowstone cast dealt with, they also had to face the elements too, as Cole Hauser said:

Reilly agreed with his point, reiterating how hot it was down South. Then, the Rip actor really painted a picture of just how hard it was to beat the heat, especially for him, as he said:

As Reilly wrote when she announced she was filming in Texas earlier this year, they faced the “dry heat” when they were down there, and that’s truly brutal. During my interview with her and Hauser for CinemaBlend, she made that point again, this time by comparing their locations to the “savannah of Africa:”

Yep, that heat really is no joke, and that became even more obvious when Hauser told me that everyone lost weight while they were working there. He explained that they couldn’t keep weight on and they trying to drink as much water as they possibly could:

As the actor pointed out at the end, while it was difficult to film in The Lone Star State it was also “very cool.” The 6666 Ranch in the show is a real ranch, and it’s legendary. So, having part of this new chapter of Yellowstone take place there is epic. Plus, it adds a new flavor and location to this already expansive world.

While there's still some mystery to just how many upcoming Yellowstone series are on the way, and whether or not the rumored sixth season is yet to come, the first episode in 22 months already answered the biggest question heading into the final Season 5 episodes: How will the Duttons' story end without Kevin Costner? John Dutton's doomed fate was revealed in the opening minutes before a sudden flashback to the days immediately following the midseason finale, though we have yet to see what actually went down with John.

CinemaBlend’s Riley Utley spoke with Yellowstone stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly ahead of the long-awaited return, and the latter reflected on Rip’s departure for Texas as a prior scene worth revisiting ahead of the new episodes, and they teased Beth’s eventual trip down south to see her man. This led Reilly to talk about this six-episode half-season incorporating more flashbacks than usual, which led to a bit of speculation on my part. Here’s what she told us:

Kelly Reilly was pleased as punch to have a topic about the new season that she could actually talk about with any sort of frankness, since everything involving John's role in the season was kept under lockdown until the episode aired. So in the moment, it wasn't clear at all what the timeline context was for the flashbacks she talked about, nor how much the time difference mattered between six months prior and the day prior.

But after watching the premiere and understanding that this chapter of the story is essentially playing out across two different timelines, then those timespan deptails become extremely important. Since the "day before" has to be referring to the day before John's death, right?

Will Viewers Actually See John Dutton's Death Play Out?

The answer here is probably a mix of yes and no, and will depend on exactly how John was handled by whoever Sarah Atwell visited in "Desire Is All You Need." Had the death been a simpler situation, I could understand if that one shot of the nondescript body on the bathroom floor would be the only time this season went back to that scene.

But since that outcome was a result of Jamie's boneheaded musings, Sarah's ruthless ambition, and a mysterious hitman organization, with Beth and Kayce harboring suspicions about the claims of suicide, then that makes it fairly vital for viewers to in some way witness what John's final day or evening consisted of. It's obviously hard to do without Costner involved, but would still provide more closure than seeing a faceless body after all the recent trailers with John's face front and center.

Also, if not for adding more insight into John's death, would there be a better reason for Yellowstone to show viewers a flashback to the day before John died? Well, I guess something could happen down in Texas that would be cause for concern or celebration.

Cole Hauser shared his advice for the season's use of flashbacks, and shared a non-spoilery take on how cowboying at the Four Sixes shakes things up visually.

I can do without any Texas flashbacks with more characters getting stung by scorpions. I'm not sure if the show is taking requests or not, but...

Holy shit, y’all. We’ve been waiting nearly two years for Yellowstone’s final Season 5 episodes, and I’m pretty sure every imaginable hypothesis has been considered concerning how the western would explain Kevin Costner’s John Dutton either being absent or suddenly returning after all the behind-the-scenes issues. But now TV’s most dramatic batch of cowboys and cowgirls is back on the Fall TV season, and there’s no longer any need to make wild guesses. Now we know: John’s as dead as a doornail. Or a horseshoe nail, as it were.

Let's dig into how the Paramount Network hit set up its final chapter ahead of the spinoff The Madison and other upcoming Yellowstone shows.

Yellowstone Killed Off John Dutton By Suspected Suicide

While some series likely would have waited until the final moments of the midseason premiere to pull the blood-spattered bathroom rug out, Yellowstone dropped its biggest blow on viewers before the opening titles even started. Beth and Kayce arrive at the Governor's Mansion to find it surrounded by caution tape and police, and after it's clear that no one truly gives a shit about them walking around inside, they both bear witness to one of their worst nightmares.

As they see, John is found on the floor of the bathroom with a gun nearby, and blood spattered against the wall, and presumably at least one more sign of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. When the dust settled in the hours after the body was found, the story that went public is that John committed suicide. I was legitimately shocked by all of these details coming to light already, but of course nothing was really as it seemed.

But John Was Almost Definitely Murdered

Having not watched the previous Season 5 episode in a while, I wasn't automatically thinking about Jamie and Sarah's prior conversation about having a third party enter the fray in order to take the elder Dutton out of the picture. But that detail was hammered home during the flashback sequence in which Sarah visited a security-heightened site and met with a suspicious-looking gent named "Grant."

Though nobody mentions John or Jamie by name, Grant does refer to "Mr. Dutton" and the "Attorney General," and is roughly as explicit when laying it out that his team will make it look as if the Dutton patriarch killed himself, despite Sarah questioning another path of execution. Logistically, his reasoning made sense, but he clearly has no idea how unbelievable a scenario that is for this family.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Yellowstone introducing a super-secret organization of assassins that are capable of murder under the guise of accidents. But for the sake of this weird-ass final half-season, I'll buy in with whatever's currently in my wallet. If they're capable of knocking the power out at the mansion so that surveillance cameras are unusable, they must be pretty formidable.

How Heavily Will Jamie Pay For What He's Done?

Beth might not be a detective, but she pulled off part of a Clue-esque victory by immediately blaming Jamie for John's death, despite the physical evidence she saw with her own eyes. And even though Kayce is initially hesitant to fall in line with her suspicions, he did seem well on his way to being convinced by the end of the premiere.

But is there any way to actually prove that Jamie was responsible at this point? Sure, if Sarah fesses up to others and explains everything she did, that would probably have an impact, but given her career position and presumed disinterest in going to prison, I doubt she'd squeal.

Barring any of that, it'll likely come down to Jamie crumpling under pressure and giving himself up, but I don't think Beth or Rip would even let him get that far into it before ripping his throat open, though Kayce might let him finish at least one sentence first. Which is to say, I can't imagine a scenario where Jamie ends this season going off to prison for his crimes instead of taking an ill-fated ride to the train station.

Also, I imagine there will be whiskey-soaked riots if Yellowstone ends without Beth going full-ham on Jamie's face and torso and genitals and limbs, so even if there's a last-minute twist that reveals John accidentally shot himself while dropping a deuce in the toilet, Beth will at least still get to avenge her unconceived children in a most lethal way.

My fellow Yellowstone fans, the day is nearly here! After basically two years of waiting, the final episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season are premiering on the 2024 TV schedule this weekend. So, in preparation for that and considering how long it's been since the first half of Season 5 aired, here are a few moments that Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille and Wes Bentley want you to remember before tuning in for the newest episode.

Make Sure You Take Note Of Rip And Beth’s Last Secene In 5A

Ahead of the second half of Season 5’s premiere, I had the chance to interview the cast of Yellowstone about what’s coming and how their characters' actions will impact their futures.

When asked to call out one scene that fans should make sure they remember going into Season 5B, Kelly Reilly immediately knew her answer. She noted Rip and Beth’s final moment together before he goes to Texas, explaining:

Obviously, we knew Rip and Beth’s relationship would be at the center of this season since it has been that way for a while now. However, Reilly’s comments confirm that and allude to her character making her way down south to be with her husband, who will be with the herd of cattle.

Cole Hauser agreed with this scene selection and even teased what might happen when Beth arrives in Texas, saying:

So, the scene they picked tells us that Beth needs to be with Rip, and personally, I can’t wait to see them back together in this new place!

It’ll Be Vital To Remember Kayce’s Vision From Season 4

Now, onto Kayce and Monica. Like Reilly and Hauser, Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille agreed on the scene fans should remember. They pointed to a pivotal Season 4 moment for Kayce, saying viewers should make sure they remember the importance of his vision quest. To reiterate that point, the Monica actress said:

For a bit of context, this vision Kayce had revealed a choice to him. He either needed to pick the ranch or his family – by "family," I mean Monica and his son Tate, specifically. At the end of 5A, the couple discussed that vision again when they were deciding to move to East Camp, and Grimes said it will be important going into what comes next. He explained:

So, can Kayce have both? I guess we’ll finally find out when Yellowstone returns on Sunday.

Wes Bentley Explained Why You Should Just Rewatch All Of 5A

Onto Jamie. Wes Bentley, who plays the adopted Dutton, didn’t point to one scene in particular. However, he did give some great advice, explaining:

There’s no question that Jamie and Beth’s feud, his attempt to impeach his father, and his relationship with Sarah Atwood will play into Season 5B; it has to. Plus, the actor's comments about it picking up fast allude to that being the case. So, considering all that, I understand why Bentley didn’t give me a specific answer.

Plus, he’s right, it is beneficial to go back and simply rewatch all of Season 5A. I did, and I’m so happy about it, because I feel ready to witness whatever is coming down the line for the Dutton family.

Ever since making one of the best movies of the ‘90s, Good Will Hunting, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have famously been known for being best friends. Obviously, they’ve both gone on to have their own wildly successful careers, however, their friendship is also a focal point of public attention. However, what you might not know is Cole Hauser, who is best known for playing Rip on Yellowstone, is very close to these two too, and he recently opened up about their bromance and spending his early days in Hollywood with the guys.

With Season 5B of Yellowstone about to premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, the hype is real to see Hauser return as the fan-favorite character Rip. In a lot of ways, this role has defined his career, however, he’s been working consistently for decades, and it started with Matt and Ben. While speaking to Parade about his early days in Hollywood as well as his friendship with Affleck and Damon, he said:

It’s kind of wild to picture these three eating Top Ramen for every meal. However, it’s also sweet to hear stories like this that show just how close these guys were as well as how hard they worked to get to where they are today.

For a bit of a history lesson, Hauser met Affleck and Damon while filming 1992’s School Ties. At the time, all three men hadn’t been in much. The boys from Boston had uncredited roles in Field of Dreams, where they met Hauser’s future co-star Kevin Costner and starred in a handful of TV movies, plus Damon was in Mystic Pizza. Meanwhile, their co-star had been in one movie before this. So, landing these parts was a big deal!

Then, after School Ties, all three continued working – with Affleck and Hauser landing roles in the classic Dazed and Confused. In 1997 things really took a turn though when they all starred in Good Will Hunting.

Affleck and Damon wrote the screenplay for the film, and they were able to land the great Robin Williams as well as other established actors like Stellan Skarsgård. However, when it came to casting their characters’ friends, they looked to their own friends and family. So, Hauser was cast as Billy, while Affleck’s little brother Casey played the part of Morgan.

Now, Good Will Hunting is 27 years old, and all four of those guys have long and impressive careers. Looking back on all this, Hauser was asked if it was “extra-gratifying” to know that this crew “paid all your dues together” as they were coming up in the business. He confirmed that it is, and acknowledged all the hard work they’ve all put in, explaining:

Now, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Cole Hauser are all beloved and certified stars. Damon and Affleck, of course, won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting’s script, and went on to make many magnificent films. Meanwhile, Hauser has worked consistently for the last three decades. However, he rose to a totally new level of fame after he joined the Yellowstone cast to play Rip Wheeler.
