The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been popular for nearly two decades now and is showing no signs of slowing down. New content is constantly being released in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription, although folks are particularly invested in upcoming Marvel movies. There are countless rumors about what Kevin Feige has up his sleeve for the future, and there's one about Scarlet Witch's role in the Mutant Saga that I'm really hoping turns out to be legit.

Moviegoers who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that certain characters are fan favorites, with Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff being one of the most popular. Fans have been waiting for her return since Doctor Strange 2's ending, and a new rumor from scooper MTTSH claims the following:

While this is just a rumor that we should take with a grain of salt, I'm so hoping that this report ends up being true. It's been too long since Wanda has been seen in the MCU, and I would love to see her have a major role in the forthcoming Mutant Saga. And since the X-Men are (obviously) expected to be a major presence in that Phase, it would make sense for Kevin Feige to bring back the Scarlet Witch in a significant role. We'll just have to wait and see if there's any validity to this claim.

This is just one of many rumors about Scarlet Witch swirling around online, in large part due to the character's popularity. Fans are holding out hope that she will appear in the next Avengers movie, despite not being included in the Doomsday cast list. For her part, Elizabeth Olsen has denied having a role, although fans don't necessarily believe in her. In fact, there were reports that Wanda might be Doctor Doom's bride in the mysterious blockbuster.

While the OG stars of the X-Men movies will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, a new group of actors are expected to star in Jake Schreier's developing X-Men movie. Bringing in Wanda seems like a logical choice, and Elizabeth Olsen has expressed interest in adapting the House of M storyline from the comics, so maybe that's what's coming together. Either way, I need more of the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

The next Marvel movie hitting theaters is Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. Hopefully, we get news about Elizabeth Olsen's future in the shared universe sooner rather than later.

Congratulations are in order for Elizabeth Olsen, as she appears to be pregnant (and likely pretty far along) with her first child with husband Robbie Arnett.

Elizabeth Olsen, 37, and Robbie Arnett, 34, have been together since 2017 and secretly eloped early in 2020. They are famously private about their relationship (see: "secretly eloped"), so the happy news that they are presumably set to become first-time parents comes not through an official announcement, but rather from photos showing Olsen's pronounced baby bump.

The WandaVision star was spotted out to lunch at All Time Restaurant in Los Angeles, People reports, wearing a white button-down shirt that was left open at the bottom. She was shown gently holding her stomach as she walked.

Elizabeth Olsen may not have any children of her own (yet!), but as the younger sister who grew up going to set with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, she is an aunt to Ashley’s son Otto, who was born in 2023. Man, remember how old we felt when we learned one of the former Full House twins was a mom? It’s definitely not making me feel any younger now that their younger sister is expecting.

Speaking of the Olsen twins, the Eternity star's secret pregnancy (secret to this point, at least) seems to run in the family.

Just like we’re only finding out now that Elizabeth Olsen is expecting, Ashley Olsen and her husband Louis Eisner kept their own baby journey a secret — in fact, news didn’t even reach the tabloids until months after Otto had been born.

If this tells us anything about Elizabeth Olsen and her family, it’s that they can keep a secret, which might be a good sign for MCU fans who are still hoping to see the actress reprise her role as the Scarlet Witch in an upcoming Marvel movie.

Elizabeth Olsen’s name was not a part of last year’s Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, and the actress has expressed only confusion about both Doomsday and Secret Wars, but despite several consistent denials, fans have found it difficult to believe her.

The tactics involved in keeping Marvel secrets can definitely make things confusing, but Elizabeth Olsen could also be falling back on the “Deny, deny, deny” strategy as well.

Only time will tell if and when we will see Wanda Maximoff again, but I’m willing to bet it won’t be nearly as long before Elizabeth Olsen and Robbie Arnett are holding their new baby. As for whether we’ll actually know when the baby is born, we probably shouldn’t be expecting some big public announcement.

It's hard to believe it's been over a decade since Elizabeth Olsen made her debut as Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By the time she was cast in the role for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Olsen was coming off her indie success in Martha Marcy May Marlene and was steadily moving into the mainstream space. Put simply Olsen is the perfect Wanda for the MCU. Interestingly enough, though, she was initially under the impression that she was auditioning for a totally different heroine.

During a panel at C2E2 in Chicago, Olsen revealed that her MCU journey was a bit unexpected. Not only did she think she was auditioning for a character other than Scarlet Witch, she thought she was actually being considered for a different Marvel franchise altogether. And let's just say the other franchise was a bit more cosmic. Olsen explained (via Popverse):

So Olsen seemingly believed was going out for Guardians of the Galaxy and, apparently, her brothers put the thought of Gamora, the alien adopted daughter of Thanos, in her head. It's honestly interesting to think about what Olsen's take on the green-skinned warrior would've been like.

That role, however, ultimately went to Zoe Saldaña, who also ended up joining the Avengers cast for Infinity War and Endgame. I personally can’t imagine anyone else in that part, as Saldaña played Gamora impeccably, capturing the rough exterior which was hiding a much more sensitive character. She also had great chemistry with Chris Pratt, who played her love interest, Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star-Lord) in the five films they did together.

Going off of this, I can’t imagine Scarlet Witch being played by anyone other than Elizabeth Olsen either. Scarlet Witch became one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, but that power was also held by someone deeply human with complex emotions. Olsen played the character not like a superhero, but as she would play any flawed character with a power struggle and complicated relationships. The witch blossomed even more WandaVision, and Wanda was one of the brightest spots in the MCU for me before her death at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Clearly, the Marvel casting directors made the right decisions when it came to casting both Olsen and Saldaña in the franchise, however. This whole situation also speaks to the secrecy that commonly surrounds the Marvel films and how actors don’t even know what characters they are auditioning for when they are considered for a Marvel project. I'd say that Olsen's meeting ended up changing the course of her career, as she'll likely be synonymous with the Scarlet Witch for years to come.

Fans are hoping she returns in upcoming Marvel movies, specifically the next two Avengers movies. Her confusion about Doomsday and Secret Wars is painting one picture, but do we believe her?

What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is very limited, aside from its massive list of characters. Olsen was noticeably missing from the Doomsday cast announcement, but that hasn't stopped fans from hoping that Wanda will appear. While appearing at C2E2 2026 (via The Wrap's Twitter) Olsen spoke about how clueless she is, offering:

VisionQuest is one of the upcoming TV shows heading to Disney+, finally continuing the title character's story after WandaVision's finale. Olsen and Bettany developed a strong relationship during their time in the MCU, and it sounds like she's gotten some information about what'll go down in the show. But other than that it seems like she's pretty in the dark about the shared universe's future. Or she's just a really good actress who is familiar with Marvel's tight security.

Marvel actors are typically tasked with guarding the shared universe's secrets... including telling a fib or two. Case in point: Andrew Garfield lied for months about returning as Spider-Man in No Way Home. In the same conversation Olsen went on to share her confusion over Avengers: Doomsday vs Secret Wars. In her words:

These comments definitely make it sounds like she's totally in the dark about The Russo Brothers' next two Avengers movies. But it's hard to imagine that they'd make both Doomsday and Secret Wars without dropping Wanda in at some point... especially considering just how popular the character is. So is Elizabeth Olsen telling the truth or simply doing her job by guarding against spoilers? She went on to speak about her Secret Wars, offering:

If Olsen really doesn't have any plans to return as Wanda, the fans are not going to be happy. Moviegoers have been curious about the beloved character since Doctor Strange 2's ending, which saw her seemingly sacrifice herself to destroy the Darkhold across the multiverse. People have been holding out hope that The Scarlet Witch was still alive, but it's already been years without any sort of update.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Secret Wars (which is one movie) will then follow suit December 17th of 2027. Fingers crossed that Elizabeth Olsen will be back as Wanda in at least one of those projects.

But maybe she is being honest, and she's simply not set to return as Wanda until Secret Wars. Either way I'll be happy to see the Scarlet Witch back on the big screen.

I want to see a redemption, so hopefully that happens in either of the next two Avengers movies.

There is one question that is as old as time itself. For as long as there have been fans, those fans have asked themselves the same question, over and over again, searching for the one true answer: “Who would win in a fight between…?”

It’s the question that comic book fans have asked about all their favorite heroes, especially those from competing brands that rarely, if ever, cross paths. It’s also the question Chris Hemsworth was recently asked on Instagram, specifically if his character Thor could beat Scarlet Witch in a flight. When asked who would win, Thor or Wanda, Hemsworth simply said…

Hemsworth is probably being a bit polite here; it’s not good form to just assume your character would always win, but he’s also not necessarily wrong. Wanda is generally portrayed as one of the strongest characters in the MCU. She probably would have taken out Thanos single-handedly had it not been for missiles knocking her back.

Thor vs Wanda is one battle that we have yet to see in the MCU, and based on what has been officially said regarding Avengers: Doomsday, and what the future of the MCU might look like, we may never see it.

Officially, we’re also not expecting Elizabeth Olsen to appear in an upcoming Marvel movie. Wanda is, as far as we know, currently dead in the MCU, and Olson’s own comments have indicated she won’t be back anytime soon. That said, there have been rumors that she actually will appear, so it’s certainly possible we could see this fight after all. Chris Evans denied his involvement right up until the first Doomsday trailer confirmed he would be there.

Based on some of the other rumors that we’re getting from Avengers: Doomsday, seeing various heroes beat each other up could actually end up being a big part of the film. If the Scarlet Witch is in the film, seeing her fight some other heroes may be exactly what we’ll see her do.

And if that doesn't happen in Doomsday, then we may see it all in the next Avengers film. Secret Wars, the comic that next year’s Avengers movie takes its name from, was all about heroes fighting each other in a place called Battleworld. While the MCU version will probably take some liberties with the story, getting some fights between heroes seems like a safe bet.

Whatever the future holds, the age-old debate of “who would win” probably won’t be settled. But there will be plenty more fodder for future arguments among fans.

Eternity wasn’t just one of the best romances of 2025; it was one of the best movies of 2025, period. The fantastical romance set in the afterlife left me swooning, as Elizabeth Olsen’s Joan chose between her first love, Callum Turner’s Luke, and her long-time husband, Miles Teller’s Larry. Now, as the movie hits streaming, I’m thinking about these three and their ending all over again, as well as what the director told us about what happened to these characters after the credits rolled.

When Eternity was released in theaters, CinemaBlend spoke to the co-writer/director David Freyne about how the script evolved while filming the movie and that ending. Specifically, Hannah Saulic asked him if Joan and Larry were OK after we left them on the run and in an abandoned eternity. In response, he said:

Personally, I'd like to read it as they lived happily ever after.

Now, to review, for the majority of Eternity, Joan was trying to pick which man she wanted to spend her eternity with and which eternity they wanted to spend it in. Toward the end, after Joan almost chose neither of them, Larry found her, and said she should go with Luke if that was what would make her happiest. So, she went with Turner’s character.

However, while in eternity with him, she realized that her eternity was meant to be spent with Larry. The thing is, once you choose an eternity, you can’t leave it. So, once Joan finally made it back to the junction and found her husband, they had to make a run for it. They ended up in a lovely little suburban discontinued eternity that looks a whole lot like where they spent their lives, and I always assumed that they lived happily there. It sounds like that’s what the director thinks too, as he told us:

Just to really make sure they’re doing well, CinemaBlend asked if Larry and Joan are “currently running” from the folks who are trying to catch them. While it seems like that could be possible, the director likes to believe that they’re comfortable and living happily in their eternity:

To quote both Hannah Saulic and David Freyne, “I love that for them.” Larry and Joan (and Luke, too) deserve only the best, and I like to think they’re content in their eternity. While it’s against the rules to leave an eternity, I’m sure happy Joan rebelled and found her long-time husband. And now, I’m thrilled to know that they’re living happily ever after in their little abandoned suburban eternity.

The Artful Dodger, Season 2 - February 10 (Disney+ & Hulu)

I’m going to be honest, I somehow missed that back in 2023, we got The Artful Dodger, a series about the Oliver Twist character that starred Thomas Brodie-Sangster in the title role with David Thewlis as Fagin. Now that I know it exists, I’ll be binging it ahead of the second season debut on this. You can watch it with a Disney+ subscription or a Hulu subscription.

Love is Blind, Season 10 - February 11 (Netflix)

Look, we’re not going to judge. You’ve been looking forward to Love is Blind Season 10 ever since the end of Love is Blind Season 9. It’s the reason you keep your Netflix subscription. We understand. We won’t tell anybody your guilty secret. Except don’t worry, I’m pretty sure everybody already knows.

Cross, Season 2 - February 11 (Prime Video)

There have been multiple attempts to turn James Patterson’s Alex Cross into a successful media franchise, but it looks like we’ve finally found one that’s a hit with audiences. Aldis Hodge is back in the second season of Cross. Alex Cross chases somebody targeting corrupt billionaires. Not sure who to root for in this one, but I’ll have my Prime Video subscription ready.

Eternity - February 13 (Apple TV)

Eternity was one of those movies you probably skipped in theaters, or that you went to see because rom-coms like it rarely get theatrical attention anymore. Either way, Eternity, which stars Elizabeth Olsen as a woman who dies and must choose to live her eternity in heaven with either her husband or her first love who died young, is a creative, funny, and heartfelt take on the genre.

Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip - February 13 (Netflix)

When the book is written about the history of successful movie franchises, a chapter will be given to the Madea movies. When the films were released in theaters, they always made a lot of money, and when Tyler Perry signed a deal with Netflix, the movies became just as successful there. In Joe’s College Road Trip, Perry returns as Madea, as well as Joe, Madea’s brother, who takes his grandson on a road trip to his new college.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Season 13 - February 15 (HBO Max)

It’s hard to believe that we’ve had 13 seasons of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. On the one hand, it doesn’t feel like he’s been on this show twice as long as he appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and yet the comedian’s hair indicates the show has been on the air since the Carter Administration. Whatever the truth is, you’ll be glad you have an HBO Max subscription this week when the Emmy-winning series returns.

The rest of February will bring back a slew of popular series to streaming, including Scrubs, Paradise, The Night Agent, and the rest of Bridgerton’s newest season. And there are likely to be a few surprises along the way.

A sibling to two of the most famous and successful twins in the business world — Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen — Elizabeth Olsen can also be counted among the box office's most bankable actors, thanks in large part to her role as Scarlet Witch within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As fans await her next superpowered excursion, the actress stepped outside her comfort zone for the new romantic comedy Eternity. To that end, she addressed the difficulties of moving her career forward without ever knowing when the MCU will come calling.

Olsen talked to The Sunday Times about not only her latest role, but also her undying love for living in London when possible, addressing her appreciation for the way Londoners "work to live" instead of "live to work." Given the Avengers films have filmed in and around Pinewood Studios, located west of England's capital, one would assume that this is considered a job perk whenever Marvel comes calling for Olsen to reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff.

It's still not entirely clear whether Elizabeth Olsen's heroine will show up for the Russo brothers' Avengers: Doomsday, and her continued denials about appearing admittedly haven't swayed fans from theorizing. (Marvel posting Scarlet Witch compilations in the midst of such speculation only fueled that fire.) Her latest comments not only gave those fans a shout, but also pointed to the hurdles that come with her MCU attachment. As she put it:

Having showcased Scarlet Witch for the MCU's first TV series, WandaVision, Elizabeth Olsen was able to show off her full gamut of acting talents, and she's spoken about how that project would be hard to top for anything involving that character. But at the same time, she's always seemed to be open about returning if/when asked, assuming it's not just a throwaway appearance.

To that end, though, Olsen still hasn't been confirmed for any kind of appearance in the upcoming MCU TV series Vision Quest, which is set to feature the first full-on appearance of Tommy Maximoff. Considering Wanda wasn't around to meet Billy in Agatha All Along, it'd seem imperative for her to show up in the next series, but given it's following the memory-free White Vision and not the construct she spent time with in WandaVision, it makes sense why she wouldn't want to spend time bonding with it.

So even though she could pop up in Vision Quest and/or Avengers: Doomsday (or even Secret Wars), Olsen's career seems to be more populated with non-MCU projects than it has in years past. In the past ten years or so, she's taken on roles in films like Wind River and The Assessment, as well as heading up the TV shows Sorry for Your Loss and Love & Death. She has around that same number projects currently making progress in some form across both film and TV. As such, it does seem like filling out her non-Marvel career with interesting new projects has gotten easier over time.

Personally, as much as I do love her within dramatic roles, I'd love to see Elizabeth Olsen's sense of humor on display more often. Though I can't exactly argue with her take on why comedy isn't such a hot commodity anymore in Hollywood. As she put it:

Everything is cyclical, though, so it probably won't be too much longer before Olsen gets asked to join a Deadpool Vs. The MCU parody where she can both play Scarlet Witch and continue showing off how funny she can be.

Speaking of, Olsen can currently be seen making rom-com magic in Eternity, which is in theaters around the country. Meanwhile, her work as Wanda Maximoff can be viewed in full, as the various Avengers movies and WandaVision are available to stream via Disney+ subscription.

Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner just led, hands down, my favorite rom-com on the 2025 movie schedule. Their new A24 movie, Eternity, is a brilliant romance that’s set in the afterlife, giving it a fantastical and timeless feeling. So, after starring in this movie that takes place in another realm, Elizabeth Olsen explained why making a rom-com in the time we currently live in would be hard for her.

It’s also important to note that in Eternity, which again, is an afterlife rom-com, both Olsen and Teller play 90-year-old characters who recently died. However, when they appear in the afterlife, they're not senior citizens, they're 30-somethings. That's because when humans reach this place, they appear at the age they were at their happiest. So, along with playing out a story in an otherworldly setting, they were not playing their own ages.

While that sounds like it would be harder to play than a romance set in today’s world, the lead actress of the film begs to differ, as she told THR:

You know, this makes sense. In some ways, I do feel like it’d be easier to play out a romance in a fantasy world rather than the real one. There are no expectations or standards you need to follow, and as Olsen said, you don’t have to accurately capture a real moment in culture.

Right before she said that, Olsen explained that the script for Eternity – which did evolve as they filmed to include more of the ensemble cast – reminded her of something her mom would have watched. I felt that too, while the other A24 romance that came out this year, Materialists, makes the modern day a vital part of its story, Eternity takes the time and everything that comes with it out.

So, Joan, Elizabeth Olsen’s character, isn’t using apps or matchmakers to date. She’s not having to deal with social media, and the pressures of modern society are not relevant to what is happening to her in this story.

Instead, she’s presented with a totally new and different problem, as she reunites with both her husband of decades and her first love, who died too early in the afterlife. It’s an ultra-unique concept, and a take on the rom-com that has restored faith in the genre for some.

For the WandaVision star, it gave her a chance to explore the world of romantic comedies in a way that took the reality we live in out. She was thrilled by that possibility too, as she explained:

It certainly was unique, and despite its 76% Rotten Tomatoes score, Eternity is one of my favorite movies of the year. It’s such a sweet and special love story that’s also genuinely funny.

So, if Elizabeth Olsen really does only want to make rom-coms that aren’t set in today’s world, I’m totally cool with that. Eternity is amazing, seeing her, Miles Teller and Callum Turner play old folks in young bodies is fun, and this crazy circumstance they’ve found themselves in in the afterlife makes for one brilliant romantic story that you can see in theaters right now.

By nature, I am against love triangles. If I see a movie that focuses on a love triangle, then I am usually not that interested in watching it. I am sure there are great movies that involve love triangle stories, but I just have no interest. However, Eternity’s cast immediately changed that.

Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller have been in some of my favorite movies and TV shows, so I was automatically excited to see them work together. I am not as familiar with Callum Turner’s work as theirs, but he looks like the perfect person to play a romantic lead.

Therefore, when Eternity played at the 61st Chicago International Film Festival, I knew I had to see it. I ended up adoring the movie.

I Really Enjoyed How Eternity Sets Up The Battle Of Enduring Love Vs. Lost Love

I think one of the main things I enjoyed about Eternity was that it wasn’t simply a man-versus-man romantic triangle movie. It was also about what type of love story works best for Joan (Elizabeth Olsen). She finds herself torn between spending eternity with her first husband, who died tragically at war, or her second husband whom she grew old with.

One is a love that endured many years of hardship. The other was passionate and brief. Joan and Larry (Miles Teller) have the type of comfortable relationship that may seem stale because of how much the mundanity of life has taken over. Luke (Callum Turner) is an exciting possibility. He represents a second chance.

They were deeply in love, but life cut it short. Both love stories have merit and soul. It’s just what’s the right one for Joan? Eternity doesn’t argue that one or the other is the better type of love story or the way to love. Instead, it’s trying to understand which one works for Joan. Unlike many, Joan gets to experience both before she ultimately makes her decision.

I personally believe that enduring love should win in the end, but enduring love can mean different things to different people. It could mean a relationship that lasts until death, or it could mean the one that got away type of love. The person who never leaves someone’s mind, even long after the relationship ended for whatever reason.

Enduring love definitely wins in Eternity. This type of battle between kinds of romantic love is why it’s such an entertaining rom-com.

I Was Torn On Who Joan Should Pick, But I Hoped She Would Pick This Husband

One of the reasons I hate love triangles is that I usually have a strong opinion about them. I believe this person should pick the person I prefer for them to pick. Then I get annoyed when that doesn’t happen because now I wasted hours watching a TV show, movie, or reading. I got my hopes up for nothing. It’s very rare that I experience a story and am torn on who a character should pick.

I felt that watching Eternity. I kept going back and forth, but did prefer one of the choices. However, I would have been satisfied either way. That’s a credit to the screenwriters. They made two complex but likable male leads. Joan had good options. However, I did root for Larry throughout most of the story.

I Think Larry And Luke Were The Right Choices For Joan, Just At Different Times

I think Larry was right for Joan after Luke died. He was patient and loving with her at a time when she needed it most. He was a stable man who loved her completely. They had a great life together. Luke was the first love. He represents unrequited love. Their love was pure before life could really interfere and cause complications.

Joan never got the opportunity to see if she and Luke would have had the same decades of marriage. They didn’t get to discover if they were an all-time great rom-com in the making. They may have lasted, or they may not have truly been made for the long haul. She’ll never get to know what they could have been, but their short life together worked for them in that moment.

Eternity Is Also A Really Good Movie About Appreciating What You Have Vs. Constantly Thinking About What You Lost

Larry loves Joan, and she loves him, but a part of her heart always belonged to Luke. That’s not a threat to Larry when they’re alive because Luke is dead. It’s only in the afterlife that the memory and allure of Luke become a threat. Joan puts him on this pedestal of being perfect because any issues they had when alive faded when she lost him tragically.

He became perfect forever. She always mourned him and maybe loved Larry a little less because Luke had so much of her heart. She admits this to Larry, and he always knew it. It just didn’t matter at the time. Now it matters.

Larry moves out of the way so Joan can finally be with the man who took up so much real estate in her mind and heart. She enjoys being with Luke, but I think she realizes that Luke is great, but he’s not who owns her heart anymore; Larry does.

They have had decades of life together. She may not have appreciated it as much while living, but will likely cherish it more in eternity.

I Loved How The Film Is A Second Chance Movie, But That Differs Depending On How You Interpret It

Joan wants a second chance with Luke. Their marriage never got to fully develop. He was her lost love. Larry doesn’t want a second chance. He’s happy with Joan forever. Luke wants to get the love story with Joan that he lost.

Second chances are a major theme in Eternity, but I think it happens in various ways. Larry and Joan get a second chance to be together forever. This situation makes them appreciate and love each other more. Luke and Joan get a second chance at their relationship but discover it just doesn’t work because Joan isn't who she was before he died.

Joan also gets a second chance to choose. Luke dies, so she ends up with Larry. In eternity, she gets to pick Larry. He’s not her default husband, but the one she wants.

The power of a second chance runs throughout Eternity. In life, you may not get a second chance, but you could in death.

Eternity is an upcoming movie that you need to watch, especially if you like A24 movies.

In the new A24 movie, Eternity, we follow Elizabeth Olsen’s Joan into the afterlife as she’s reunited with her husband of decades, Miles Teller’s Larry, and her first husband who died during the war, Callum Turner’s Luke. However, they aren’t the only vital characters in this story, as Da’Vine Joy Randolph and John Early play Anna and Ryan, respectively. These two are tasked with helping the trio pick the places they want to spend eternity. And it turns out, those coordinator roles originally weren’t as big as they are now, and the film’s director told us why he expanded them.

During a conversation with David Freyne, who co-wrote and directed Eternity, CinemaBlend’s Hannah Saulic asked about Da'Vine Joy Randolph and John Early’s work. She wondered if they were allowed to riff or if it was in the script, and Freyne revealed that it was on the page. However, it wasn’t always there, and he explained why by saying:

Listen, if you’ve seen John Early and Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s best work, you know how funny they are. So, it’s no surprise that the writer/director wanted more and more of them in his rom-com.

Continuing to speak about the pair of afterlife coordinators, Freyne explained that as he saw the two actors’ dynamic on screen, he just kept wanting to give them more and more to do. So, that’s what he did. In fact, he gave them a whole scene to themselves, as he explained:

Freyne said that these new scenes and storylines were his way of “responding to how great they are.” He wanted to give them “the best material” possible, and with that came bigger roles in the movie. They did so much, in fact, that there’s a lot from Randolph and Early that we “haven’t seen.” However, we’re hopeful those takes will end up in a blooper reel.

Anyway, going back to what you see on screen. The director told us more about what was added as they were making the movie. Surprisingly, this list included Anna and Ryan’s will-they/won’t-they relationship, as Freyne told Saulic:

I love that for these characters so much. I absolutely adore Eternity, and think it has the potential to be one of the great rom-coms. One of the reasons it works is because Anna and Ryan are constantly helping both Joan and Larry and the audience understand this unique afterlife world.

To that point, David Freyne told us that Early and Randolph’s characters are like a “Greek chorus” in that way, and between that and their chemistry with the leading trio, they were an irresistible and vital addition to the movie:

In the end, David Freyne explained to CinemaBlend that having John Early and Da’Vine Joy Randolph in scenes with Callum Turner, Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller were the biggest highlights of the film for him. That’s because when they were all together, they were “like kids” and always “playing.”

That joyful energy 100% transferred to the screen, and he’s right, Anna and Ryan do make the story so much funnier and better. So, I’m thrilled their roles grew as much as they did!

Now, to go see these two usher three romantics through the afterlife, you can catch Eternity in theaters now.

I’ve seen nearly 80 movies already this year. There are a few that have really stuck out in a positive way, like that time Warfare had me glued to my seat during the entire runtime or that time I saw How to Train Your Dragon on a giant screen in Caesar’s Palace. My favorite movie of the year (so far) snuck up on me unexpectedly at a recent screening, and I’m surprised a slew of critics aren’t on the same wavelength.

The movie? It’s Eternity, a quirky rom-com starring Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner that's part of A24's release schedule this year. The flick is about a woman who dies and is taken to a sort of waiting area for the afterlife, where she must choose to remain with her deceased partner of many decades or her young love who died at war before they had a chance to blossom. I saw the film a couple of weeks ago, and while some critics have found things to nitpick over, I’m still thinking about the sweet story and what it has to say about love over the long haul.

It’s also simply one of the best rom-coms I’ve seen in years. The last time I think I was jonesing to rewatch a romance movie this much was probably 2013’s About Time. Yes, some great rom-coms have come out since then, but this one really just struck a chord with me in an immense way, and I hope audiences find it as darling, funny, and sometimes bittersweet as I did.

However, some critics don’t seem to be wholly on the same page. A few called the movie “lacking in profundity” (In Review Online) or called the love triangle “patronizing” (Mark Reviews Movies). Literally in the middle of writing this piece, a new review dropped, knocking Eternity from 80% down to 79%. I’d expect the score to change a bit as more and more people have the opportunity to see the movie. I'm hoping that's more for the positive!

Of course, 79% still means the majority of people who reviewed the flick liked it. Still, the negative reviews are the opposite of my experience watching the movie, and I'm a little bit baffled. It's rare we get such an odd story that hits on so many sentimental notes, and I just loved the tone, cast, story, and even the world building hints we got.

I could totally see not feeling the movie is perfect. Spectrum Culture’s Alan Zilberman mentioned the movie was “overstaying its welcome,” and that’s a comment I can understand as the film did go on a bit longer than I’d initially thought it was going to. Regardless, and without getting into spoilers, the final few minutes were so satisfying, that little blip didn’t bother me much.

Eternity hit the 2025 movie release schedule on November 14th, but is opening wide in time for Thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully, a slew of people will see it and fall in love with it the way Callum Turner fell in love with Dua Lipa.

There is no shortage of iconic Scarlet Witch moments, both from the comic books and across every major appearance she’s made in the Marvel movies. However, if you ask Elizabeth Olsen, the woman who's played Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron, there’s one line in particular she’s been chasing for years. And, frankly, she’s right. If she were ever given the chance to say it, it would be seismic.

During a recent appearance on InStyle’s YouTube series, “Let’s Unpack That,” Olsen walked through a loose time capsule of her career, pulling mementos from a carry-on bag she says she’s used since 2012. Amid the items was a Funko Pop of Wanda herself. This one came with a speech bubble that read “No More Mutants”—the phrase that launched one of Marvel Comics’ most consequential storylines. And, according to Olsen, that line is still at the top of her MCU wish list. As she put it:

For longtime Marvel fans, hearing Olsen say those words would be almost equivalent to Captain America finally shouting, “Avengers Assemble.” It’s not just a memorable line, but is "the" line. In the 2005 House of M storyline, Wanda reaches her breaking point and rewrites reality with those three words, wiping out most of mutantkind and sending shockwaves through Marvel's Multiverse.

Olsen wanting to deliver that moment is especially interesting given what happens to Wanda at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Her fate is technically unresolved, but no one truly believes Marvel buried its most powerful sorceress under a pile of CGI rubble. If anything, the controversial Multiverse Saga era has only made Wanda more valuable, narratively and thematically.

Also, with Marvel Studios slowly (very slowly) rolling mutants into the MCU through projects like Ms. Marvel, The Marvels, the X-Men ’97 tie-ins, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, and the already-confirmed returning Fox-era characters in Avengers: Doomsday, the timing has never been better to bring Wanda’s comic-book legacy to the forefront.

Picture Olsen returning in a future film or an upcoming Disney+ project, unraveling emotionally as reality bends around her, and finally delivering those three words. It would be an instant all-timer—one of the franchise’s defining scenes. But, realistically, it wouldn’t track for Wanda to immediately wipe out mutants just as the MCU is finally introducing them. So, if Marvel ever plans to pull that trigger, it may be a few years (and a few major X-Men rollouts) down the line.

Whether Marvel Studios would actually pull the trigger on House of M—or some reimagined version of it—is another question entirely. Still, the Wind River veteran putting that energy out into the world? Marvel has a track record of listening when its stars speak up. So here’s hoping this is one of those times. Because “No more mutants” in the MCU would be a moment fans would talk about for years to come.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is constantly releasing new content for the fans, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that certain heroes are fan favorites, chief among them being Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff. Olsen has denied she's in Avengers: Doomsday before, and is once again shutting down rumors of her appearing in upcoming Marvel movies. Unfortunately, I just don't believe her.

What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is limited, so fans are filling in the blanks with theories and rumors about what's coming. Elizabeth Olsen wasn't included in the Doomsday cast announcement, but that hasn't stopped online chatter about what Scarlet Witch might be up to in the blockbuster. While speaking with The Playlist, the His Three Daughters actress once again denied she was in the next Avengers flick, and claimed she has "no idea how or when" Wanda might return to the MCU. As she put it:

Honestly, she should be proud. Wanda's story has had plenty of twists and turns, as she went from villain to hero and back around to villain again. Olsen's work in WandaVision was universally acclaimed, earning her an Emmy nomination and even more fans. As such, it's an understandable assumption that she'd appear in Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.

Despite Olsen maintaining that she's not in the next two Avengers movies, there are fans who think she's fibbing in order to protect fans from spoilers. After all, Andrew Garfield lied about his Spider-Man return in No Way Home over and over again. Later in the same interview, she was told fans can see her in Doomsday, responding with:

Either she really won't pop up in Doomsday or Elizabeth Olsen is an excellent liar. The idea of the Russo Brothers not bringing her back for the next two Avengers movies seems wild, especially since fans have spent years waiting for news about Wanda following Doctor Strange 2's ending, which saw her seemingly sacrifice herself to destroy the Darkhold.

While we wait for news about her future in live-action, the Godzilla actress did reprise her role recently, voicing Wanda in Marvel Zombies. What's more, Olsen expressed interest in adapting House of M on the big screen, showing her willingness to return to the MCU for the right project. Hopefully, we get more of the Scarlet Witch sooner rather than later.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list. Fingers crossed that the Scarlet Witch ends up appearing at some point throughout its runtime.

While Zendaya is a master method dresser, and her stylist, Law Roach, has said Jenna Ortega knows how to nail a theme, too, Elizabeth Olsen typically isn’t intentionally trying to play into this trend. However, she has and she’s continuing to do it well, whether she knows it or not. I note that because at a special screening for her new movie Eternity, she rocked a scarlet red dress that both fit the vibe of her film and left me feeling like I, a Marvel fan, got a Scarlet Witch tease.

Now, as far as we know, Elizabeth Olsen isn’t set to be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast or participate in any upcoming Marvel projects. However, when she wears bright scarlet red on a carpet, it’s hard not to think about Wanda Maximoff, and that’s exactly what happened when I saw her in this gorgeous red dress:

First of all, I’m simply obsessed with this look. Per WWD, Olsen is wearing a custom Miu Miu red dress, and she paired it with matching red Le Silla pumps. To accessorize, she put on a pair of vintage David Webb earrings, and the silver jewelry goes beautifully with the red garment.

Along with this being a lovely standalone look that fits the retro vibes of her upcoming A24 movie, it’s also giving Marvel. It’s specifically, in my humble opinion, giving WandaVision (which you can stream with a Disney+ subscription).

However, I doubt this was intentional method dressing. That’s because, before method dressing was super trendy, Elizabeth Olsen did it, even though she’s not that into it. Back in 2017, the actress and Aubrey Plaza showed up wearing the same outfit to an Ingrid Goes West event. They intentionally did it and then pretended it was an accident to create buzz for the project. It fit the vibe of the movie and was a funny little stunt. However, the actress made it clear it was done more so to get press rather than partake in the method dressing trend.

With that said, though, I can’t help but feel like we got a Scarlet Witch tease here. I don’t know if that’s what she was going for or not, but no matter what, the bright red color is so obviously linked to her Marvel character that it’s hard not to connect the dots.

Along with this look making me think about her MCU days, though, it’s also getting me very excited for her project on the 2025 movie schedule, Eternity. For context, Olsen leads the film alongside Callum Turner and Miles Teller. She plays a woman who recently entered the afterlife, and she has to choose who to spend eternity with: her lifelong partner (Teller) or her first love (Turner). The afterlife does have a retro yet timeless vibe to it, and that’s exactly the energy the actress was bringing to this event.

So, with all that said, I feel a bit teased, yes, but also thrilled about what’s coming. Therefore, as I count down the days to see Eternity in theaters on November 26, I’ll be going on to Disney+ to watch Elizabeth Olsen wear that bright scarlet red and steal scenes in the Marvel projects she’s starred in.

If you were to ask Elizabeth Olsen, she would say she’s not an actress who is keen on method dressing. In fact, I know she would say that because she literally did say it, recently revealing in an interview that she method dressed with co-star Aubrey Plaza years before Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach made the trend cool.

I mean, I guess there’s always a chance she’s just lugging around a 5X7 of herself and her former co-star, but I’d be a little worried about the actress, if true.

Anyway, the going through one's bag trick is great as a conversational starter point for talking about Olsen’s career, and having the picture handy was probably nice for reminiscing, as well. The moment in question went viral in 2017, and it’s rare for two actresses to show up wearing the same outfit (though not unheard of as Alexandra Daddario and Brie Larson wore the same dress to an event more recently).

In this case, Olsen and Plaza’s look-alike stint was 100% staged, as she recently admitted:

If you’ve actually seen Ingrid Goes West, the concept makes total sense. In the movie, Aubrey Plaza plays a character who is stalking Elizabeth Olsen’s own character. But Olsen admitted it was more to get press than to start any sort of “on theme” method dressing trend, telling In Style in the video it was before the advent of the popular method dressing trend.

Ingrid Goes West came out in 2017, the same year Zendaya, who notable started the method dressing trend, starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Greatest Showman. It’s also the year that Zendaya really started method dressing with her partner Law Roach, as she wore a ringmaster-inspired outfit for that movie, later following up that triumph with a C-3PO space-looking Dune outfit and, of course, a slew of tennis-inspired looks for Challengers.

Method dressing has become far more popular on recent red carpets, as Olsen herself alluded to in her interview, and Megan Fox recently wore a bloodied corset to harken toward an alternate universe where Jennifer from Jennifer’s Body made it out alive. It's led to some real-life trends like Barbiecore and more, and I hope that celebrities keep it up -- even if it isn't totally Elizabeth Olsen's cup of tea.

There are countless questions about the upcoming Marvel movies, particularly with two new Avengers movies on their way. Moviegoers have been especially curious about the future of Wanda Maximoff, and after Marvel posted a montage of the Scarlet Witch, fans think Elizabeth Olsen signed a new contract to continue playing her signature role. With this much ongoing fan excitement over the character, it seems logical that the studio might want to try and sign a new deal with Elizabeth Olsen. She hasn't appeared in live-action since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theaters ack in 2022. And that directly followed her Emmy-nominated performance in WandaVision, which is still arguably the most popular Marvel show.

While Elizabeth Olsen voiced Wanda in Marvel Zombies, the actress admitted it was years ago and she didn't even remember what happened. But the His Three Daughters actress has expressed interest in adapting the House of M storyline in live-action. Hopefully we get a confirmation of her return to the MCU sooner rather than later.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list. Secret Wars will follow suit on December 17th, 2027. Hopefully we see Wanda in one, if not both, of these titles.

And, this weekend, the actress shared her thoughts head-on.

During a “Conversation With...” panel at the 2025 Hamptons International Film Festival (via People), Olsen opened up about her career trajectory, balancing intimate films like Eternity with global blockbusters. When asked whether she’d consider returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she didn’t dodge, telling the crowd:

That last line hits. With new superhero movie discourse at an all-time high, and fatigue long set in for many, Olsen makes it clear who she believes these stories are truly for. I'd hope that many at the Sag Harbor Cinema agreed.

Reflecting on her decade-long journey as Wanda Maximoff, the Love & Death lead admitted she felt “very lucky and very scared” to join the MCU when she did. So is Wanda Maximoff truly gone from the MCU? It doesn’t sound like it. But the real-life woman behind the witch is not chasing the cape, but she’s not hanging it up either. When the story’s right, and the fans are ready, Scarlet Witch just might rise again. And when considering Marvel’s multiverse, anything is possible.

House of M is a very popular plotline in Marvel comics, and features one of the most iconic (and terrifying) displays of power from The Scarlet Witch's time on the page. Olsen wants to be able to utter the words "no more mutants", although it's unclear if that story will really make sense within the MCU.

A huge battle happens between heroes and the mutants on Genosha, where Wanda sees her brother Quiksilver die before her. In a fit of rage and power she says "no more mutants", resulting in almost all of them being stripped of their abilities. In the end the mutant population of the planet goes from millions to hundreds, with a number of our beloved characters losing their skills such as Charles Xavier.

That's the short end of this story, which is complicated and features multiple universes. Elizabeth Olsen previously expressed interest in bringing this specific comic plot to life, and fans thought WandaVision might adapt House of M.

I’m highly invested in her creepy-sounding FX pilot with Cristin Milioti, but now she’s joined an upcoming horror that may soon become one of my most anticipated upcoming movies.

For her newest big-screen commitment, Elizabeth Olsen has joined the growing cast of Flesh of the Gods, will be the biggest mindbending feature yet for director Panos Cosmatos (Mandy, Beyond the Black Rainbow). She's set to co-star with Marvel's Moon Knight lead Oscar Isaac and teen icon-turned-filmmaker Kristen Stewart. If threse three ended up being the only cast members in the entire movie, it'd still be a win.

She's Going From Playing A Superhero Witch To Playing An '80s Vampire (Presumably)

Get ready for a trip back to Los Angeles in the 1980s, which is where and when Flesh of the Gods will be set. Oscar Isaac's Raoul and Kristen Stewart's Alex are a married couple living it up in and around their luxury skyscraper condo, especially when it comes to the nightlife.

Their lives and nightly habits are changed after they meet Olsen's alluring and perplexing Nameless, who heads up a "hard partying cabal," according to Deadline. After which, Alex and Raoul find themselves thrust into party scene full of hedonists, violence and all the thrills one can handle.

Though the description of the film refers to it as a "vampire thriller," the logline synopsis apparently doesn't get too straightforward on that front. Sure, it's hard to imagine that Nameless and her squad are anything but bloodsuckers, but Panos Cosmatos might have some slightly more esoteric ideas than just a straight-up fang-banging massacre.

An Extra Reason To Be Excited: Se7en's Screenwriter Wrote It

So this is going to be just as subjective as everything else, but the fact that Andrew Kevin Walker penned the script for Flesh of the Gods is reason alone to get me into a theater, with the A+ trio of actors sprinkles on top. Se7en is one of my two favorite movies of all time, and the tight script has as much to do with that as David Fincher and that movie's A+ stars.

Even if you don't adore the 1995 classic, or agree with the argument that it's among the best horror movies of all time, Walker also penned equally slick scripts for not-as-well-directed movies like Brainscan, Hideaway and 8mm, while also writing Sleepy Hollow and Fincher's 2023 release The Killer among others. Beyond Tim Burton, Cosmatos might be the most visually macabre director to bring one of Walker's scripts to the screen, and I can't wait.

With Avengers: Doomsday currently in production without any hardcore concrete plans to bring Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff back, I'm still holding out hopes that she'll be a big part of Paul Bettany's return to the MCU for the Vision TV show, but until we know more, I'll be geeking out over the thought of her playing a vampire opposite Bella Swan herself.

What happened to Scarlet Witch? The ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness left that ambiguous. Because although Wanda Maximoff was shown inside the collapsing Mount Wundagore as she was destroying all copies of the Darkhold in the multiverse, a common rule trope in superhero storytelling is if a body isn’t seen, they’re not dead. In fact, a Marvel comic book released in February seemingly indicated that Elizabeth Olsen’s character was still alive. However, that no longer appears to be the case, leaving me wondering what this means for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, two of the highly-anticipated upcoming Marvel movies.

In case you missed it, TVA #3 saw Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Ghost-Spider, discovering an area of the Time Variance Authority called the Department of Deferment. In there, she came across a static tube containing what looks like the MCU’s Scarlet Witch, as opposed to the version of Wanda from the main Marvel Comics continuity. Well, apparently that’s only sort of true, because according to TVA #5 (via ScreenRant), the Wanda in that tube isn’t the same one we saw in the Doctor Strange sequel, but rather a variant of her.

After freeing this Scarlet Witch from her confinement, Gwen learns from the Fear Lord known as Nightmare that the TVA found a timeline where Wanda didn’t die in Mount Wundagore and took her captive. That one line of dialogue indicates that that Wanda we followed along in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness perished when she wiped out the Darkhold across all realities. Otherwise, why wouldn’t Nightmare have just snatched her up? Also, Nightmare’s knowledge about what happened at Wundagore means he can visit the MCU, so maybe that’s how we could see him take part in Doctor Strange 3, if that possibility is on the table.

On first glance, this reveal from the TVA miniseries may appear to put the kibosh on Elizabeth Olsen ever reprising Wanda Maximoff again, but let’s not get hasty. For one thing, maybe another Scarlet Witch variant could be selected to take her place in the story that will unfold in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Or, and I’m hoping this is what happens, Wanda could simply be resurrected during Doomsday, either by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom or some other force.

I just find it hard to believe that we’d never see Elizabeth Olsen play Wanda again. Remember, last November, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that “we are excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can return.” That’s not something one would say about a character who’s been shelved and had her final fate clarified in a comic book. And yes, Olsen has also said she’s not in the next two Avengers movies, but quite frankly, I don’t believe her.

Scarlet Witch, but for what it's worth, she is going to be teaming up with another exceptional talent beloved for her work in the superhero genre: The Penguin's Cristin Milioti.

In late 2024, Milioti absolutely wowed TV viewers with her turn Sofia Gigante on Colin Farrell's The Batman spinoff series, and she is now set to collaborate with another gifted star in Elizabeth Olsen. Deadline is reporting that both are now signed on to star in Seven Sisters, and they will apparently be playing siblings (not exactly a huge shocker given the title of the prospective show).

She memorably played the titular character in the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother, had a key role in the second season of Fargo, and stared in one of the best ever episodes of Black Mirror ("USS Callister). She earned rave reviews for her turn on The Penguin playing the show's principal antagonist, and there are high hopes among fans that she will get the opportunity to reprise the role in either director Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II or a theoretical second season of the HBO show.

Cristin Milioti's other upcoming work includes the animated film In Your Dreams, an upcoming Netflix feature set to be released this fall, and she will apparently be in two episodes of the forthcoming Black Mirror Season 7 (which includes a sequel to the aforementioned "USS Callister" called "USS Callister: Into Infinity.")

Hopefully we'll get more casting news about Seven Sisters soon (presumably there are at least five more siblings to cast), and we can keep our fingers cross that they are all of the high caliber of Elizabeth Olsen and Cristin Milioti.

Marvel is now gearing up for its next big crossover event. Last week we learned who will make up the massive cast of Avengers: Doomsday in an incredible five and a half hour livestream event. One thing we learned is that the movie will seemingly have a surprisingly few socerers. This is unfortunate if only because Kathryn Hahn wants to see Agatha Harkness go head to head with some of the best.

In a recent appearance on the Mythical Kitchen YouTube Channel, Kathryn Hahn was asked what other Marvel characters she’d like to see Agatha work with, and she dropped a couple of perfect names in fellow magic users Doctor Stranke and Loki. Hahn said…

“Mischevious Magic” sounds like the perfect name for a Disney+ Marvel series starring Hahn and Tom Hiddleston. I don’t know what they would do. I don’t know if they would be allies or adversaries. What I do know is that such a pairing would be absolutely incredible, and now I need to see it happen.

Seeing Agatha Harkness go up against Doctor Strange would also be quite special. Considering that both Agatha and Strange have fought Scarlet Witch, seeing the two of them face off against each other would complete the circle. Of course, speaking of the Scarlet Witch, Kathryn Hahn indicates she’d also like a rematch. She added…

Unfortunately, anybody looking forward to any of these crossovers may have a while to wait. There’s been no indication of any future for Agatha, either in the form of a second season of Agatha All Along or a related spinoff. Also, of every name mentioned above, only Tom Hiddelston was among those listed to appear in the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers: Doomsday.

While it’s still possible others, and even Hahn herself, could end up part of the movie, it’s unlikely the cast revealed so far is complete, both Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olson had previously indicated they wouldn’t be in the film, so not seeing their names in the live stream only confirms what had already been known. Of course, Cumberbatch later reversed course and said he would be in Doomsday, so at this point, anything is possible.

Agatha All Along seemed to confirm that the Scarlet Witch is dead following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While death is certainly no barrier to a character making an on-screen appearance, when and if there are plans to see Wanda again, once expects her return would be a big deal. Perhaps that could be the focus of a new Disney+ series.

At the end of the day, the door is never closed on any popular MCU character, so seeing Agatha Harkness again certainly seems likely. Whether she'd get a chance to work alongside these other characters or not is another question.

Many have wondered about Elizabeth Olsen's potential inclusion in upcoming Marvel movies, including the upcoming culmination films. While Olsen has denied involvement, MCU fans — myself included — aren’t exactly buying it. In the world of Marvel Studios, denial is practically part of the job description, and that's certainly extending to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Yet, in a recent round of interviews, Olsen insists that Wanda Maximoff isn’t involved… and yet the door doesn’t feel shut.

While promoting her new sci-fi thriller, The Assessment, Elizabeth Olsen opened up to Business Insider about her time with Marvel. She played it cool, but you could sense that she wasn't entirely ruling out a return for Wanda Maximoff, especially when Marvel’s multiverse starts to get messy. When asked if she thinks there's still "unfinished business" for Wanda after her apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Olsen responded:

Classic Marvel actor response — measured, non-committal, and vague enough to keep fans theorizing. The Martha Marcy May Marlene star is no stranger to the studios' spoiler-heavy PR game, having danced around questions about Wanda since Age of Ultron. And, with rumors swirling about Doomsday and Secret Wars digging deep into multiversal chaos, it’s hard to believe the Scarlet Witch would be left on the sidelines, especially considering her comic book counterpart plays a pivotal role in stories like House of M and Secret Wars.

The actress' broader perspective on MCU characters makes her comments more intriguing. She compared them to classic mythological figures, suggesting their stories are never really “finished":

Whether Elizabeth Olsen is hinting at something for the future or just speaking in general, it’s clear that Wanda is still a big part of the MCU's direction. The LA-born A-Lister is keeping busy with other projects—she's currently starring in The Assessment, which just hit theaters last weekend as part of the 2025 movie schedule. She’s also working on an upcoming TV series, Seven Sisters, for FX.

But Olsen knows how much Marvel has boosted her career. The Godzilla star has called her time in the MCU “the best business decision” she’s ever made, and she acknowledges that it has opened up opportunities for her to pursue smaller, indie projects that she’s passionate about.

The fact that the A-lister holds Wanda so dearly and that Marvel rarely gives anyone a clean exit (looking at you, Loki) makes it hard to accept that Wanda’s journey is over. The Oldboy veteran actress even joked about potentially playing an older version of the character decades from now, Hugh Jackman-style. And frankly, I’m for it. Give me Old Woman Wanda, all day!

Like millions of people around the world, I spent five hours watching Marvel slowly roll out all those Avengers: Doomsday names in March 2025, and like a lot of people, I was bummed a few of the biggest MCU stars, including Ryan Reynolds, didn’t have a chair. While it may be true that we will see more additions as we work toward the release of the upcoming Marvel movie, I was shocked by some of the names left out of the excruciatingly long cast announcement.

That said, here’s a list of some of those beloved MCU actors I really hope we see when the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday opens on the big screen in May 2026. It’s a long list (no, not as long as that video), so let’s get started…

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds, who has played Deadpool since the Fox days, has made a habit of teasing his return to the MCU ever since the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024. I totally thought we’d see his name on one of those chairs in that seemingly endless lineup, which is why I’m so bummed the wise-cracking, R-rated, and lethal hero wasn’t included.

In an ideal world, Reynolds’ return would also include the likes of Dafne Keen, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Garner, and Leslie Uggams (you can’t have Deadpool without Blind Al).

Tom Holland

With the Spider-Man 4 release date so close to the Avengers: Doomsday rollout, it would be shocking if Tom Holland doesn’t show up in the massive crossover film a few months before his new Web-Slinger adventure. The highly in-demand actor seemed like a shoo-in to be included in the gargantuan list filled with all his MCU buddies. There are rumors that Holland won’t be in the next Avengers film, but I’m not totally convinced at this point.

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson has been a part of the MCU since he showed up in Tony Stark’s house and revealed himself as Nick Fury way back in Iron Man. Since then, he’s popped up in all of the Avengers movies, so I was a little saddened and surprised by his omission from the absurdly long cast list for Doomsday. I mean, Fury is still alive on the Marvel Cinematic timeline after the events of The Marvels.

Chris Evans

Even though his version of Captain America retired during the Avengers: Endgame ending, Chris Evans has reappeared in the MCU (Johnny Flame in Deadpool & Wolverine), so I wouldn’t be shocked if some character played by the franchise mainstay shows up by the time it’s all said and done. Evans has been cagey about a possible return in the past, but not seeing his name on the back of a chair is a little disheartening, if I’m being honest.

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo has been one of my favorite MCU actors ever since he took on the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in 2012’s The Avengers. He’s been there for all the major moments in the franchise since then, but now I’m starting to think his iconic character won’t be saving the planet, galaxy, universe, or multiverse with his old buddies next summer. This can’t happen. I mean, who’s going to give Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man an extra taco?

Benedict Cumberbatch

Is Benedict Cumberbatch bringing back Doctor Strange (third eye and all) for Avengers: Doomsday? I don’t know because the longtime Marvel staple wasn’t included in the longest line of chairs I’ve ever seen. The actor’s comments about his return to the MCU have been all over the place, with his most recent comments to Business Insider in January 2025 making it sound like he could possibly return.

Don Cheadle

Though the Armor Wars project seems to be up in the air, I thought Don Cheadle would for sure be a part of the upcoming Avengers movie. James Rhodes has been a part of the franchise since the very beginning, and Cheadle’s version of the character has had a part in three of the four crossover films to date.

Brie Larson

Another big name missing from the “Infinity Scroll of Chairs” was Brie Larson, whose Captain Marvel has long been one of the strongest heroes in the entire MCU. We last saw her in The Marvels back in 2023, so she’s due for a return at this point. The same can be said about co-stars Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, who play Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, respectively. I’d be shocked if they didn’t appear.

Jeremy Renner

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has had one of the craziest journeys in the MCU over the years. The underrated Avenger has been through it all, and I’ll be bummed if he’s not part of Doomsday next year. He famously wasn’t part of the Avengers: Infinity War cast, so maybe, just maybe, we’ll see him in Avengers: Secret Wars in a few years.

Charlie Cox

With Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch very much a part of the MCU again with the recent arrival of Daredevil: Born Again, I will be shocked if the actor doesn’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday. His name is on the rise (both the actor and character), so his absence could be felt a great deal.

Also, I would love to see Cox’s Defenders co-stars like Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter have some kind of role in what appears to be the biggest Marvel movie in years.

Halle Berry

Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and several other major players from the original X-Men movies were all announced for Avengers: Doomsday, but there was one actress whose absence really bummed me out: Halle Berry. Whenever the music would change and the camera would pan to the right, I kept hoping to see the Storm actress listed on a chair, but it never came.

The same can be said about Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, and Hugh Jackman, three other major names from the franchise who are oddly missing from the cast list.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy

Though Dave Bautista and Pom Klementieff seem to be finished with the MCU after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the rest of the actors should still be in play moving forward. With Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, and Vin Diesel being major parts of the last two Avengers movies, it will be odd not to see them in the upcoming Doomsday. I really hope that changes, as I’d love to see that ragtag group of space scoundrels save the day again.

The Eternals

After Captain America: Brave New World referenced Eternals earlier in the year, it felt like maybe this oft-forgotten MCU movie would be getting some attention again. However, none of the actors from the 2021 epic were included in the Avengers: Doomsday rollout. I guess we’ll have to wait longer to figure out what’s going on with the group played by Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, and Barry Keoghan.

Other Marvel Stars I Want To See In Avengers: Doomsday

On top of all these names and various groups, I would love to see even more actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe show up in Avengers: Doomsday. From longtime staples like Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Hayley Atwell, and Scarlett Johansson (nobody stays dead forever, right?) to other fan favorites played by the likes of Benedict Wong, Dafne Keen, Lupita Nyong’o, Awkwafina, and Danai Guirara to actors introduced in post-credit scenes like Brett Goldstein and Charlize Theron, there are just so many familiar faces that could show up.

Will any or all of these actors show up in Avengers: Doomsday or its sequel? I really hope so.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine, one that's constantly developing and releasing new projects in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Fans are always looking to the future, and there are countless questions about upcoming Marvel movies, especially the next two Avengers flicks. What we know about Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars is super limited, but they both seem to be in active development. While we know Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom in those projects, but it remains to be seen which heroes will be fighting this variant. While speaking with THR about wrapping production on an upcoming movie filmed across the pond, Olsen was asked if she was sticking around the U.K. to film the next Avengers flicks. She responded with:

Olsen seemingly shut down the idea of filming Doomsday and Secret Wars, denying she was going to be shooting the projects shortly in Pinewood Studios in the U.K.. After all, if she's busy working on another project in another country, then one would assume that Wanda isn't included. But I'm stil not buying it.

Doctor Strange 2's ending saw The Scarlet Witch seemingly sacrifice herself to destroy the Darkhold across the multiverse and atone for her atrocities throughout the movie. But given just how popular Wanda is among MCU fans, it seemed antithetical to end Olsen's tenure in this way. And most of us weren't convinced she was actually gone.

Marvel security is notoriously tight, and actors are expected to deny, deny, deny when doing press in order to guar the secrets of the shared universe. Case in point: Andrew Garfield lied for months about returning as Spider-Man in No Way Home.

Elizabeth Olsen has been playing Wanda Maximoff since she filmed Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2014, so she's spent a full decade trying not to reveal Marvel spoilers. So it's more than possible that she was simply lying and pretending she wouldn't be back for Doomsday and/or Secret Wars. Altnernatively, she's telling the truth and simply hasn't signed on the dotted line. There's a ton of possibilities here besides saying goodbye to Wanda forever.

Rumors about Doomsday claimed that Wanda would be a major presence in the upcoming Avengers movies, with her chaos magic creating Doom's alternate universe. But this is all hearsay at this point, and since the projects aren't on the 2025 movie release list, smart money says the studio is going to keep guarding its secrets.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ ending may have made it seem like Scarlet Witch died, but the general consensus is that we haven’t seen the last of her. Hell, there was even a recent Marvel Comic showing Elizabeth Olsen’s version of the character being held in stasis by the Time Variance Authority. However, for those of you who’ve been hoping to see Wanda Maximoff return in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, Olsen’s shared an update that casts doubt on her participation in these upcoming Marvel movies. That said, I’m not giving up hope we’ll see her in them.

What Elizabeth Olsen Said About The Next Two Avengers Movies

Elizabeth Olsen can currently be seen in The Assessment, which opened this past weekend on the 2025 movies schedule. She discussed her work on the feature and other topics in an interview with THR, including how she was working on the Sam Esmail-directed movie Panic Carefully in London, England. When the interviewer asked if she’d be extended her stay to reunite with directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who are about to start shooting Doomsday and Secret Wars back-to-back, she answered:

Now, on the surface, that doesn’t bode well. In fact, THR’s X post sharing the interview with Olsen says that “Elizabeth Olsen confirms she will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars,” and other outlets have run with similar headlines. And to be sure, it would be disappointing if Scarlet Witch wasn’t present in either movie given the uncertainty surrounding the character following the Doctor Strange sequel. But I’m not so sure that’s what’s happening here.

Why I Don’t Think Elizabeth Olsen’s Update Is As Bad As It Sounds

Let’s chew on this first: if the Doomsday and Secret Wars shoot is anything like when Infinity War and Endgame were made back-to-back, then the Russos are looking at roughly a year of filming, maybe longer. So just because Elizabeth Olsen isn’t going to be around at the start of this shoot doesn’t necessarily mean she won’t be part of it at all. Maybe she just won’t be needed for a few months. Or maybe she will indeed not appear in Doomsday, but will return to London once cameras start rolling on Secret Wars scenes.

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention that last October, it was rumored that Wanda will share a lot of screen time with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in the next two Avengers movies, and may even end up being his lover. Take that claim with a grain of salt for now, though it’s let to fans theorizing that Doom needs Wanda’s reality-warping magic to make his own universe. The point being, until it’s outright said by the Russos, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige or someone else high up at Marvel that Elizabeth Olsen won’t be in Doomsday and/or Secret Wars, then I’m holding onto hope.

Speaking of Feige, he said a few weeks after the conclusion of Agatha All Along that he and the other Marvel brass are “excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can return.” So I think we can reasonably assume that we’re not done seeing Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU again, regardless of how it ends up happening. Until then, you can use your Disney+ subscription to stream her previous appearances in this franchise.

When Avengers: Endgame hit theaters in 2019, it made serious waves. Plenty of fans flocked to cinemas to see the blockbuster on the big screen, and to watch the end of a Marvel era that featured box office domination for over a decade. The film was basically a surefire hit, with tons of anticipation leading up to its release and became a multi-billion-dollar success. However, Elizabeth Olsen, who famously played the Scarlet Witch in the franchise, didn’t feel the same way at the premiere, as she apparently panicked that the movie would flop.

Olsen explained that her anxiety over a flop never dissipated even after years of MCU hits, and fanfare leading up to each project. Apparently, the actress still felt this stress even at the premiere of Endgame, though:

The His Three Daughters star is a tremendous actress, but clearly isn’t great at predicting a hit. Avengers: Endgame went on to gross $2.8 billion dollars, and is now the second highest grossing movie of all time behind Avatar. It was not only a box office phenomenon, but a critical hit as well, with many lauding directors Joe and Anthony Russo for pulling off such a cinematic feat.

While the culmination film didn't stumble, that doesn't mean that other MCU entries haven't, though. Despite the IP's tremendous success, franchise inserts like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels significantly underperformed, reversing a years-long streak of hits from Disney's house of superheroes. Elizabeth Olsen actually doesn’t make an appearance in either of those films, so she wasn’t able to predict the doom and gloom at either of those premieres. Yet this goes to show that any movie can underperform, so Olsen's anxiety is understandable.

Even amongst the more recent Marvel hiccups, Endgame remains a shining example of what the studio is capable of. It's honestly amazing just how the producers were able to achieve such a large task, and it's final gross is particularly impressive. Fan excitement and dedication should never be underestimated, which Olsen learned pretty quickly when the 2019 film opened. Hopefully, Marvel can regain this energy via upcoming MCU films, especially as we approach the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.

Fans of the actress can also see her reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff in the animated series Marvel Zombies, which will also be available on the streamer this October.

Hopefully Kevin Feige and company offer fans some information about when we might see her return to the shared universe.

After WandaVision's series finale, it seemed like Olsen's signature Avenger was feeling contrite over the hex she placed on the town of Westview. But the Darkhold seemingly corrupted her, and she was willing to kill to be reunited with her sons. In the same interview, the His Three Daughters actress spoke about that pivot, saying:

While some fans took umbrage with this choice for the character, you can't deny that Elizabeth Olsen once again crushed it playing Wanda. She was equal parts terrifying and tragic throughout Doctor Strange 2, and was able to atone for her actions by destroying the Darkhold throughout the multiverse. Still, I'm hoping this won't be the last we'll see of The Scarlet Witch.

Marvel's tight security keeps things on lock, so there are countless questions about what's coming down the line. Fans are hoping to see lots of their favorite characters throughout Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, and there are a number of rumors swirling about how Wanda might factor into the multiversal story of The Russo Brothers' next two blockbusters.

Unfortunately, fans are likely going to have to try and stay patient as development on the upcoming Avengers movies comes together. After all, Doomsday isn't even on the 2025 movie release list. All I know is Wanda better be coming back, one way or another.

And while fans not-so-patiently wait for concrete information from Kevin Feige and the rest of the powers that be at Marvel, these types of theories and rumors are likely going to continue circulating online.

While Wanda has always been popular in the MCU, she became on of the most beloved characters in the entire universe thanks to the release of WandaVision. The Disney+ series instantly became a viral sensation, one that fans theorized about while immediately watching each new episode. And since then, there's been a non-stop call for more of the Scarlet Witch from the fans.

Unfortunately, her redemption during WandaVision's finale was short lived, as she was the primary antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While she atoned in the movie's final moments, she spent most of its runtime as a cold-blooded killer who would do anything to reunite with her sons.

The next two Avengers movies aren't on the 2025 movie release list, so fans will likely have to continue waiting for official news from the studio. Hopefully we get a Wanda Maximoff update sooner rather than later.

Ever since the ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness unfolded the way it did back in 2022, it’s been unclear where things stand with Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch. When we left off with Wanda in the 28th of the Marvel movies in order, she’d seemingly perished when Mount Wundagore fell around her as she was destroying all the Marvel multiverse’s copies of the Darkhold. And yet, there have been rumblings for years now that we haven’t seen the last of her, and it looks as though a Marvel comic may have confirmed she is indeed alive, albeit incapacitated.

After getting their time to shine in Loki and Deadpool & Wolverine, the Time Variance Authority (TVA), which was introduced to the comics in 1986, is now the subject of a five-issue limited series written by Katharyn Blair and illustrated by Pere Perez. The series chronicles a phenomenon called “The Madness” that’s affecting the entire multiverse, and events from the aforementioned Disney+ subscription-exclusive TV show and 2024 movie have both been referenced. Additionally, Mobius and Sylvie, both from Loki, have appeared, and it’s strongly implied that they’re the MCU versions rather than ones

Here’s where things get especially interesting. In TVA #3 (via ComicBookMovie), Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Ghost-Spider, is shown walking through a mysterious area of the title organization called the “Department of Deferment.” There, she runs into what looks like Scarlet Witch, who’s being kept in some kind of stasis tube. More importantly, this looks to be the MCU’s Scarlet Witch, as she’s wearing the same costume from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and even has the blackened fingers from having handled the Darkhold.

The general rule of thumb when it comes to superhero media, particularly Marvel and DC stories, is that if you don’t see a body, then a character isn’t dead. If the Scarlet Witch from TVA is in fact the same one we’ve been following in the MCU since 2014 (when she and Quicksilver cameoed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier), then evidently the TVA snatched her up before she was crushed to death and decided to keep her sedated. That would explain why no one knew her whereabouts during Agatha All Along, as well as nicely tee up her return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Honestly, even if the Scarlet Witch we see in the TVA comic book series isn’t Elizabeth Olsen’s version, it’s still probably safe to assume that the latter will be back in the upcoming Marvel movie. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios and chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment, said back in November that “we are excited to find out when and how Scarlet Witch can return.” That doesn’t sound like something one would say about a character who’s legitimately dead, and what better time to bring her back than in the fifth Avengers movie?

Hopefully the final two issues of TVA will clear this Scarlet Witch matter up. Otherwise, we’ll just have to wait until Avengers: Doomsday’s release on May 1, 2026 to learn if she’s back in play.

There you have it. And while it's refreshing to see how honest Olsen is being about her tenure as Wanda Maximoff/ The Scarlet Witch, the idea of her treating the MCU as "insurance" is a little bit a of a bummer. After all, she's one of the most beloved characters in the entire shared universe, thanks to the wild popularity of WandaVision and now its spinoff Agatha All Along.

Fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have developed a strong connection to the shared universe's characters. And as such, it might be strange to hear Olsen's matter-of-fact way of addressing her tenure as Wanda. But ultimately this is all a business, and the 35 year-old actress has a larger career to worry about, outside of whatever might be coming next for Wanda.

Ever since Doctor Strange 2 hit theaters, fans have been wondering if/when the Scarlet Witch will finally return to the MCU (and presumably have a redemption arc). There have been plenty of rumors that never came to fruition, with fans hoping she'd appear in Deadpool & Wolverine and/or Agatha All Along. Alas, neither of those recent releases included Olsen's signature character.

While Wanda's future in the MCU remains unclear at the time of writing this story, she is expected to popup eventually. Kevin Feige recently hinted at The Scarlet Witch's return, and there have also been months of rumors about a Scarlet Witch solo flick. Hopefully we get an official announcement sooner rather than later.

Whether or not Wanda gets her own solo flick remains to be seen, but fans are expecting her and the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes to return to their roles for Avengers: Doomsday. A wild rumor about that project even claimed that Wanda could end up being Doctor Doom's love interest in that forthcoming project. Alas, fans will have to wait and try to be patient about what comes next.

Agatha All Along offers a distinct story with more than enough charm to stand on its own. Yet it’s tough to forget the fact that the show is a spinoff of the acclaimed Marvel Cinematic Universe-set series WandaVision. That link was clear early on in the 2024 TV schedule entry, as Wanda Maximoff’s body appeared in the pilot. Most probably won’t be surprised to hear that Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda, wasn’t actually on set. Still, I was shook when the hair and makeup department heads told CinemaBlend how they made the double look like Olsen.

Cindy Welles and Vasilios Tanis – who headed Agatha’s hair and makeup teams, respectively – were kind enough to speak with me about their work. A question I had going into our chat was whether or not Wanda’s body was portrayed by a real, living actor or whether a dummy of sorts was used. Tanis and Welles confirmed that a trained professional, who had to stay “very still,” was used for that Agnes of Westview segment. That information alone was fascinating to me, but I was also intrigued by Welles’ comments about styling the hair:

On the surface, these may sound like minor details, yet they’re actually quite important in regard to maintaining continuity. Wanda’s hair is quite distinct and, even if viewers only see that curl in the morgue, it still has to appear as her hair would otherwise. As someone who tends to (over) analyze smaller elements, I certainly appreciate Cindy Welles and her team’s commitment to detail. That commitment also extends to the efforts of the team led by Vasilios Tanis, who talked more about the touches that were added to the body double:

I personally didn’t find it hard to buy into the idea that the body that was discovered by Agnes and her team of fellow law enforcement officers. They did indeed find someone with Elizabeth Olsen’s physicality, and kudos to that actor for effectively staying still. I’ll tell you who hasn’t been staying still, though – fans who want to see Wanda Maximoff return!

There’s been a lot of chatter as of late regarding the fate of Ms. Maximoff, who was seemingly killed at the end of 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite the fact that her body seemingly appears on Agatha All Along, the show doesn’t provide a definitive answer on the former Avenger’s mortality. As of late, there have even been rumors of a solo film involving the heroine. One person who’s down for that movie is Jac Schaeffer, who created WandaVision and its spinoff. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, though Kevin Feige’s latest Scarlet Witch comments suggest that he and his collaborators have some interest in bringing the character back at some point.

Fans can only hope that Wanda truly returns in upcoming Marvel movies or TV shows. For right now, though, let’s just marvel (no pun intended) at the incredible work that Cindy Welles, Vasilios Tanis and their co-stars did with the Agatha Harkness-centric series. You certainly have to be on your toes when working on an MCU production, and I have no problem saying that these two industry pros, in collaboration with their colleagues, knocked it out of the park.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been consistently releasing new content for years now, both in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. The most recent series that hit the small screen was Agatha All Along, which featured plenty of references and connections to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. And Kevin Feige's latest comments about Wanda Maximoff have me feeling so relieved as a fan.

Moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that certain characters have risen up as fan favorites. Chief among them is Olsen's Scarlet Witch, who fans are hoping to see appear in upcoming Marvel movies despite the character's apparent death during Doctor Strange 2's ending. During an interview with the outlet Omelette at D23 Brazil (via ComicBook) Feige teased what might be coming with Wanda, offering:

Well, I'm feeling relieved. While he didn't give anything away, it sounds like the powers that be at Marvel are interested in continuing Wanda's story at some point in the future. Does that mean she didn't actually die in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Only time will tell.

Feige specifically mentioned Agatha All Along, which offered a ton of ties to the Scarlet Witch throughout its season. The series made her fate unclear, with Agatha giving conflicting stories about whether or not Wanda was still alive. Add in her son Billy having a role and the Agatha finale ending with him trying to find his brother Tommy, and it feels like the perfect time to bring Wanda back.

While she showed remorse during WandaVision's series finale, the Scarlet Witch came back for Doctor Strange 2 after her mind was corrupted by the Darkhold. She went on a murder spree in hopes of reuniting with Tommy and Billy in the multiverse, before seemingly sacrificing herself to ensure the Book of the Damned was destroyed for once and all.

But Agatha All Along revealed that Wanda never needed to use America Chavez's powers to reunite with her kids. Billy was resurrected after she closed the hex, jumping into the body of a nearby boy who died in a car crash. Unfortunately, Lilia's sigil prevented anyone from identifying the resurrected boy, who would be nicknamed "Teen" throughout most of the series. I can only imagine how Wanda will feel that she traveled through the multiverse when her son was actually so close by.

There is a seemingly never-ending list of great options to binge on Netflix, and while I do love to actually make a trip to the theater, there’s no denying the convenience of streaming. After hearing some positive things about His Three Daughters — an offering on Netflix’s 2024 schedule — I decided to check it out, despite knowing the subject matter might hit a little close to home. It’s now been weeks since I watched the movie about three sisters navigating their father’s final days, and I still cannot shake how true it felt to my family’s own experiences with end-of-life care.

His Three Daughters stars Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne and Elizabeth Olsen as estranged sisters who come together at their father’s home, where Rachel (Lyonne) has been living with and caring for their sick father. Old wounds and a complicated family dynamic are quickly revealed as they all deal with his impending death in their own ways. The story really stuck with me, and here are a few reasons it felt so real.

I Saw Parts Of Myself And My Family In Each Of The Three Sisters

First, I want to say that I would never pretend to be an expert on the topic of hospice or caretaking. I can only speak to my limited experience, which includes my husband and I providing end-of-life care for a loved one a few years ago and seeing other members of my family serve as long-term caregivers. I know every family’s experience is different, everybody handles grief differently, and every family has its own drama to contend with. All of those individualities are exactly why I was not prepared to see so much of myself and my family in the very specific characters of His Three Daughters (which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription).

I recognized Rachel’s discomfort with having Katie (Carrie Coon) and Christina (Elizabeth Olsen) in the house while simultaneously being relieved to finally have some help. I saw Katie’s gratitude for Rachel caring for their dad present itself as judgment and jealousy. Christina’s guilt was ever-present, whether that was over not having been around to help Rachel or guilt that to be with her father meant she wasn’t home taking care of her own kids.

More than their overall personalities, there were a lot of small moments and anxieties that struck a familiar chord with me: someone obsessing over paperwork, someone needing validation, decisions over grocery shopping, documenting breathing changes and fretting over who — if anyone — was in the room with the person receiving the care. This may have been a fictional family, but it felt all too real to me.

The Feelings Of Isolation Were Beautifully Portrayed

One thing that struck me right off the bat was Katie’s tendency to talk at people instead of to them. I thought this would bother me, but I came to understand it as her way of coping. She was often giving monologues, not noticing or caring if her audience was paying attention, because she was just trying to process the situation for herself. It was very "main character syndrome," but also pretty understandable given that her dad was dying. Rachel and Christina had their own ways of showing how isolated they felt.

The camera work also helped to drive home the feeling that they were going through this along, even when surrounded by each other. So many of the conversations between the women showed just one of them, shots lingering on their faces rather than switching to capture her sister’s response.

The Sisters’ Interactions With The Hospice Nurse Were Some Of The Most Relatable Moments

I think I was most amused by the sisters’ interactions with the hospice workers, a profession which filmmaker Azazel Jacobs paid tribute to by naming one character “Angel.” It’s because those moments were so relatable that I was able to find some humor there.

In addition to Katie and Christina obsessing over their advocates’ names being Angel (“That’s quite a name, considering what you do.”) and Mirabella (“I’m sorry, it’s just so weird that’s her name. I keep picturing my daughter when you mention her.”), some of the conversations they had with Angel felt like someone had secretly recorded that time in my life and was playing back my words coming from the characters’ mouths.

I remember us being desperate for any morsel of information, hanging on every word of our very patient hospice nurse. So it was funny to me, in a way, to see the women doing the same thing, asking the same questions and prying for information, only to then question the nurse's expertise or try to dispel what was said. Katie continuously thought their advocate was speaking in code, telling Christina at one point:

Every family has that cynic, right? I recall being upset by that person in my family, but that was their filter on the situation, just like that was Katie’s very specific view. Again, I was just struck by the thought that something that felt so unique to me could actually have been more universal than I realized.

The Ending Threw Me For A Loop — But Only For A Minute

I won’t go too far into the specifics of a certain twist so as to avoid spoiler territory, but there was a scene toward the end that caught me off guard because it lacked the realism that I’d felt from the rest of the movie. I was pretty quick to figure out what was going on, and everything was revealed fairly quickly. I've been back and forth about what I think about it, and I've landed on being glad it happened like it did. It gave a sense of closure to the audience, even if the same can't be said for Rachel, Katie and Christina.

I can only speak for my own experience with end-of-life care, and I’m certain that not everybody will have the same takeaway from this film, but I found His Three Daughters to be incredibly relatable. It’s remained with me to the point that even weeks after watching it, there’s a part of me that is remembering little moments I’d forgotten about. A little time and distance (from both my family’s experiences and the 2024 movie’s release) have also allowed me to see some of those moments from a different perspective.

Spoilers below for anyone who isn’t caught up on Agatha All Along through its sixth episode, so be warned if you’re falling behind!

With Billy Maximoff’s origin story being laid out in “Familiar By Thy Side,” Agatha All Along is laying the groundwork for Young Avengers to join the lineup of upcoming Marvel TV shows and future MCU movies. But you know what they say: you can’t make an omelet without cracking fans up over the return of Evan Peters’ Ralph Bohner. And it was quite the glorious reprisal, adding meaningful and legitimately harrowing context to WandaVision’s biggest punchline.

From his witch repellent to other handcrafted wards, Ralph has clearly been living on edge in the years since he was released from Agatha’s spell and left Westview. But he definitely didn’t shed his acting dreams, given his one-man show in Paramus, New Jersey. But that just added more confusion over the character’s backstory in WandaVision, and his comment after the dog-poisoning confession also raised my eyebrows. So let’s go over my two biggest questions inspired by that shocking return.

Was Ralph Bohner's Witness Protection Storyline Ignored, Or Is He Just Extremely Terrible At Staying HIdden?

For those who may have forgotten about WandaVision's missing witness protection person, that's what brought Randall Park's Jimmy Woo to Westview in the first place. And while it technically remained a loose thread by the end of the series, a deleted scene was unveiled ahead of the Blu-ray release that finally addressed that mysterious detail: Evan Peters' character was indeed that missing person, and was wearing an ankle monitor presumably as a form of pre-trial monitoring.

Even then, it still wasn't clear whether or not "Ralph Bohner" was meant to be understood as his "new" identity, or if that was who he'd always been. WandaVision's "The Series Finale" revealed that the house was under the Bohner name, and he also had a bunch of actor headshot photos with that name printed on them. So theoretically, it could be believed that he was attempting to utilize a new identity to break into the world of theatre work, despite the inherent problems with being a publicly recognizable figure.

But then Agatha All Along seemed to throw a huge wrench in that line of thinking with one of the funniest sight gags of the season so far: Kathryn Hahn wearing that Bohner Family Reunion shirt. (Pitch a tent!) The costuming choice seems to confirm that Ralph Bohner was the character's name from birth, with the only alternative being that he personally had that shirt printed specifically to serve as backstory ephemera for...whatever criminal entities came looking for him, I guess.

Given how ridiculous that seems, I have to now assume that Ralph doesn't understand how witness protection works, and that no one from the government stepped in to help him understand how to stay hidden. I can buy into the idea that the headshot photos were being storied in the attic as relics of the past, but that wouldn't explain why bills and other mail would still be addressed to "Ralph Bohner" specifically. So I guess the bottom line here is: Ralph sucks at life.

Even his lone attempt to obfuscate his name was botched when he told Billy to call him "Ralph," and then frustratingly corrected himself to say his name was "Randall." (A nod to Jimmy Woo's portrayer, possibly?) But does that name have anything to do with his presumed identity swap, or was it just a spur-of-the-moment bit of failed trickery?

One alternate explanation here that could clear things up: the witness protection for Ralph Bohner was more or less eradicated by the ankle bracelet scene being edited out of the finale. So without that as a narrative obstacle for showrunner Jac Schaeffer & Co., it's possible they just kept him the same as not to further muddy up the already complicated process of keeping up with everyone's identities in this universe. It's less fun, sure, but also less confusing overall.

Did His Confession About Poisoning Billy And Tommy's Dog Have Further Dark Implications?

For all that Ralph appears to be in dire straits after his experiences in Westview, he still seems to be keeping current with what’s happening, as he tells BIlly that Wanda is dead, and that Agatha is still living in the town under Wanda’s spell. But when Billy assumes that means she’s no longer as dangerous as she was when she made Ralph poison the Maximoff family’s new dog Sparky, Evan Peters’ character quickly strikes that idea down, saying:

Maybe I'm reaching here, but considering no one specifically mentioned Wanda and Vision's house or yard during that parking garage conversation, it seemed as if Ralph was talking about his own yard surrounding the house that Agatha took from him. (Along with the Bowflex and Blu-ray collection contained within.) Which may or may not contradict what I'd assumed happened to Sparky's body by the end of WandaVision's "On a Very Special Episode..."

Just prior to the titular couple's argument over the closing credits, Vision enters the house and washes his hands, and makes a comment about getting a dog and having to bury it the same day. At the time, I totally inferred that Paul Bettany's character was coming in from burying the dog himself, but what if that was just another part of Wanda's sitcom-friendly reality that glossed over some truly dark details?

Agatha All Along seemed to confirm that Elizabeth Olsen's traumatized witch was responsible for killing off Mr. Hart in WandaVision's freaky dinner scene, and it was one of several situations where the idealized scenes viewers watched did not line up with reality. So is it all that strange to believe that no one from the Maximoff household actually did anything with Sparky's remains, and that Agatha ended up forcing Ralph to bury it in his own yard instead?

Also, considering Sparky seemed to be a Hex-specific creation for Billy and Tommy, what actually happened to the dog's body whenever Westview was freed from captivity? Would it have just disappeared like the twin's bodies did, or did was it already corporeal in the real world and put under a spell? I guess the only way to answer that question once and for all would be to use a ground-penetrating radar to find and identify Sparky's bones.

I think we can probably also draw some interesting conclusions from Agatha falsely assuming responsibility for killing Sparky at the end of WandaVision's "Agatha All Along" bop, only for Ralph to say she made him do it. Perhaps that speaks to the ancient witch's specific sympathies and how she feels about getting her hands dirty in such ways. (Or not dirtying them, as it were.) If anything, let's just hope it means nothing bad ever happens to Señor Scratchy.

Namely because it's hard to imagine Wanda having a romantic connection with anyone but Paul Bettany's Vision. That relationship was key to projects like Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision, so if/how she ends up being Doctor Doom's lover should be interesting.

Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff has to be one of the most complicated characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the strongest. Over the course of a decade, we’ve seen Maximoff at her best and worst. We’ve also seen her realize her inner desires and fully come into her powers while simultaneously garnering a very devoted fanbase. As a result, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the character, has become a household name and face, and she recently recalled the sweet moment she realized her character was a big deal.

For Marvel audiences, Scarlet Witch has been a fan favorite ever since her MCU debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron (excluding The Winter Soldier post credit scene). At that time, she so easily incapacitated Earth's Mightiest Heroes with her mind games. But, apparently, this was not evident to the actress herself. First of all, I would like to know if this drag queen is still doing Scarlet Witch drag and if so, where and when can I attend. One can certainly understand why he Love & Death actress would feel "proud" in that moment, and I can't even imagine the surreal nature of seeing the impact of a fictional character I played in real time. Furthermore, it's great to receive further confirmation of the true feelings towards her witchy character, given her past statements.

Elizabeth Olsen has admitted to having had conflicted feelings over taking this very important role in the MCU. She admitted that it limited her roles outside of the superhero franchise. However, this clearly does not reduce her pride in playing the complex sorceress. Many Marvel characters have tortured backstories, but Wanda Maximoff’s history is especially traumatic, causing her to forever be an unpredictable wild card in the cinematic universe.

With the release of Agatha All Along amid the 2024 TV schedule, the fate of the His Three Daughters star's character is once again being discussed. Though Scarlet Witch seemingly died at the end of Multiverse of Madness, her actions (like destroying all versions of the Darkhold) continue to have strong influences on storylines. Besides, we never saw a body at the end of Strange 2, which absolutely leaves Wanda’s story open-ended.

Fans were bothered by this, and WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer spoke to RadioTimes about handing off her narrative, saying:

Sounds like a healthy attitude. While Wanda's decisions in Doctor Strange 2 seemed to stand in opposition with the WandaVision finale, Schaeffer seems to understand that's what happens when characters are utilized throughout different MCU projects. We'll just have to see how she changes upon returning in upcoming Marvel movies.

Hardcore fans will remember that there was a macguffin used to explain why Wanda became so murderous in Doctor Strange 2 (including that brutal Illumanti scene). Namely the Darkhold, which seemed to have corrupted her over time. Add in the desperation of missing her children, and fans were led to believe that the Scarlet Witch was simply too desperate and powerful.

Later in that same interview, Jac Schaeffer further explained her love for Wanda, as well as actress Elizabeth Olsen. As she shared:

Fans seem to agree, and there's been rumors of a Scarlet Witch movie coming down the line. Fans have been worried about her possible future in the MCU since she seemingly perished during Doctor Strange 2's ending.

While Wanda's future is still unclear, Schaeffer is definitely making plenty of references to her in Agatha All Along. And many fans are hoping she could actually pop up sometime during the season.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a powerful force in the entertainment industry, one that consistently puts out new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. And audiences are hoping that fan favorite characters will appear in upcoming Marvel movies, especially Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff. And the WanadaVision icon recently got real about why people don’t get it when weighing in on the green screen acting debate.

For a while now, there's been chatter about the process of filming movies that require lots of green screen work, especially within the MCU. Emilia Clarke has talked about the stigma that can come with genre work in the industry, and now the Scarlet Witch herself has weighed in. While speaking in an interview with THR, she explained a key part of the gig that some people just don't understand. She said:

There you have it. Given the huge amount of work done with green screen projects in post-production, it's up to the actors to use their imagination and emotionality to build these worlds while filming. In some ways it sounds like being a big kid, and in other ways it sounds wildly difficult.

Elizabeth Olsen has been playing Wanda for years now, so she definitely understands this particular challenge. All of her powers are add through visual effects, so she has to physically sell the action, including her iconic use of isolation in her fingers. Wanda's best moments are only possible because of what Olsen was able to craft in her mind and body.

Fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order understand the long and grueling hours the cast and crew puts into each new release. But it seems that sentiment isn't necessarily shared among some entertainment industry professionals. And I agree with Olsen that I'd love to see more raw footage from MCU sets.

The debate about "green screen acting" in many ways feels like an extension about the conversation about whether superhero projects like the MCU count as "art" or "film." Martin Scorsese said they weren't cinema, and the legendary Francis Ford Coppola even included Dune and No Time to Die in this dismissal. Add in the strong feelings of Marvel fans, and smart money says the discourse will continue for the foreable future.

The streaming wars are showing no signs of slowing down, with the various services offering a variety of new and exciting content. One new film that might end up being one of the best Netflix movies out there is Azazel Jacobs' His Three Daughters, which is streaming now for those with a Netflix subscription. I recently streamed the flick, and have to talk about the family dynamics, especially as we slowly get closer to The Holidays.

His Three Daughters focuses on (you guessed it) three sisters, adult women who are forced to cohabitate as their father is in hospice care. Director Azazel Jacobs put tributes to hospice nurses in the film, but other than that its largely about the three women's relationships with each other. And I loved how realistic it felt, especially in the way that family occasions tend to bring out honesty among relatives... for better or worse. 

I personally tuned into His Three Daughters largely because of its trio of leading actresses, including The Gilded Age icon Carrie Coon and Wanda Maximoff herself, MCU fan favorite Elizabeth Olsen. From the start of the movie, it's clear just how three different each of the characters are. Olsen's Christina is overly positive but missing her young daughter, Coon's Katie is trying to take control while admonishing Lyonne's Rachel, who is struggling with the invasion of her home. 

While the subject matter is obviously quite emotional since they're comparing for their father's death, in some ways it feels like it could set during any family event or holiday. The three sisters are brought together, and once cohabitating tensions naturally rise.

The titular characters of His Three Daughters are so specific and vastly different from each other, so it makes sense that they might have a unique set of issues with each other. Add in the stress of their father's end of life care, and all of the walls come down for a moving look at this particular family's dynamic. 

The sisters didn't have soap opera-like drama with each other, but instead they're just very different people who can sometimes struggle to be around each other. This is no doubt relatable for plenty of siblings out there. But just because they can get on each other's nerves doesn't mean they don't love each other.

Aside from all the sibling dynamics, the story about a family coping through end of life care is also something that is sure to touch Netflix subscribers who have dealt with this in the real world. Azazel Jacobs' direction and writing doesn't try to lean on melodrama here, but instead offers a realistic and touching portrayal. With a fascinating use of color and perfect pacing, His Three Daughters builds to an emotional crescendo that's sure to elicit strong feelings.
