His humble origin story with CinemaBlend began all the way back in the pre-streaming era, circa 2009, as a freelancing DVD reviewer and TV recapper. After rising up through the ranks covering Movies, Nick leapfrogged over to the small screen to cover more and more television news and interviews, eventually taking over the section for the current era. Born in Louisiana and currently living in Texas — Who Dat Nation over America’s Team all day, all night — Nick spent several years in the hospitality industry, and also worked as a 911 operator. And if you ever happened to hear his music or read his comics/short stories, you have his sympathy. His love for his wife and daughters is almost equaled by his love of gasp-for-breath laughter and gasp-for-breath horror. A lifetime spent in the vicinity of a television screen led to his current dream job, as well as his knowledge of too many TV themes and ad jingles.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He's Into</strong>: Nick is one of those people who won’t necessarily insert a Monty Python reference into every conversation, but is still mentally equipped to do so. Beyond such appreciation for surreal UK comedy, Nick also indulges in as much horror splendor as possible, from Stephen King novels to James Tynion IV comics to Freddy Krueger one-liners to all things Mike Flanagan. Throw in a dash of NFL, some 311 and Weird Al, fried crawfish poboys, bourbon, ‘90s-era pro wrestling, crossword puzzles and mystery-driven video games, and baby, you got a stew going. (Nick will insert an Arrested Development reference into every conversation, if possible.)</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He's Excited About</strong>: Anything Jeff Lemire, Tom King and W. Maxwell Prince think of, ever. More of Kelly Reilly’s deliriously fierce performances on Yellowstone. HBO’s The Last of Us. Clone High’s return. Colin Farrell’s Penguin being in every movie/TV show/breakfast cereal.</p> </dc:description>

It may have taken slightly longer than expected for Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network to fully come to fruition across the streaming and linear television spectrums, but it doesn’t appear as if any amount of waiting has had a negative effect on the brand’s widespread popularity. The core couple are still going strong on building its audience base five months after launching the cable network proper (following a successful streaming launch through Discovery+’s growing library), and now audiences can expect a brand new Fixer Upper spinoff to hit Magnolia Network quite soon, along with several other newly announced series.

Already one of the top 25 basic cable networks, Magnolia Network is rising as fast as can be within that zone, and currently boasts nearly 100 original projects to date, equaling more than 350 hours of programming for channel surfers and streamers alike. (And yes, some of those other shows also include Joanna Gaines.) In the new announcement, Magnolia’s Global President Allison Page says the company has over 30 in-development projects that could potentially make their way to viewers’ eyeballs in the future, but for now, let’s focus on the four original series that are definitely coming to the summer TV schedule.

Fixer Upper: Welcome Home - The Castle (September)

You gotta love a title with both a colon and a dash in there, especially if it involves a no-longer-bald Chip Gaines trying to get his shiplap on inside a legitimate castle. The biggest fix-up project of the Gaines’ career so far, they’ll be setting their sights on a historical landmark in the form of a 19th century castle in Waco, Texas. Restoring any kind of older structure is always going to be more of a challenge, so this will obviously be quite a unique task for the Fixer Upper squad. Not only will there be infrastructure issues to contend with, but everyone involved also has to consider keeping the setting’s natural beauty intact. So it’s a good thing Joanna Gaines knows a thing or two about such things.

The first of eight episodes of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home - The Castle will debut on Discovery + in September.

Silos Baking Competition (Sunday, June 12)

Set in Waco, Texas, the new series Silos Baking Competition serves as the first cooking competition series for Magnolia, and will celebrate home bakers who bring the joy as well as the culinary skills in the kitchen. The contestants will be faded with attempting to perfect a favorite recipe, with a cash prize on the line, as well as the chance to have their dish featured as a purchase-friendly treat at Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Silos Baking Co. Game show-to-bakery isn’t exactly farm-to-table, but it should be entertaining all the same.

Silos Baking Competition will debut on both Magnolia Network and Discovery+ on Sunday, June 12.

The Home Team With Britt And Annie (September)

Annie Hawkins and Brittany Baker are BFFs who also happen to be pretty proficient in the world of renovating and creative designs. Their start-up business in Salt Lake City is in the spotlight with the new show The Home Team with Britt and Annie, as the duo takes their efforts from small-time to the big-time.

The Home Team with Britt and Annie will debut on Discovery+ in September.

Recipe Lost And Found (Summer)

Casey Corn, the classically trained chef and food anthropologist, is at the forefront of Recipe Lost and Found, which will have her going out into the world to help people reconnect with family recipes that have been lost. Corn will dig into family histories and cultures to figure out what makes the various dishes so memorable.

Recipe Lost and Found will debut on Discovery+ this summer.

Magnolia Network Renewals

On top of each of those new series being announced, Magnolia Network also revealed that three of its original projects have received season renewals. Erin French's restaurant-based series The Lost Kitchen will return for Season 3, the historical structure series Restoration Road with Clint Harp will also return for Season 3, and Zoë François' cooking series Zoë Bakes will also be back for a third season.

Magnolia Network unveiled these updates ahead of Warner Bros. Discovery’s presentation on May 18 for the network upfronts, during which the world at large will likely learn more about what’s coming for everyone with Discovery+ and HBO Max subscriptions. She graduated from Mizzou with a degree in Photojournalism.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>What She's Into</strong>: Adrienne will maintain until her dying day (and probably well after that, if possible) that 9 to 5 is one of the best movies ever made, though she also holds a special place in her heart for Auntie Mame, Office Space, and Bridesmaids. This may make it sound like her life and entertainment choices are only giggle-focused (not totally untrue), but she also enjoys warm-hearted dramadies (Gilmore Girls, Lovesick), creepy stuff (The X-Files, Evil), sci-fi/fantasy (most Star Treks, The Witcher), romantic shows (Bridgerton, Sweet Magnolias, Outlander), and the occasional drama (The Wire, Vikings: Valhalla). Adrienne likes cooking, but also ordering delivery so that strangers can be forced to bring her food, and believes that most days are incomplete without chocolate, reading, and staring out the window to see if any wild animals are engaging in shenanigans.</p>

Chip and Joanna Gaines are beloved to many because of their time on the home renovation series Fixer Upper. So, fans were glad to welcome them back earlier this year when Fixer Upper: Welcome Home began airing on Discovery+. Unfortunately, those same fans overwhelmingly shared disapproval on one aspect of the new show, and that was Chip's much longer than usual hairstyle. Now, he's revealed that he's finally going to cut his hair for charity, and I might be a little torn over whether I'll miss it or not.

Viewer complaints about Chip Gaines' hair reached an obvious fever pitch back toward the end of July, when his wife Joanna shared an image of them celebrating the launch of their Magnolia Network app. There were cries aplenty for the newly hirsute home renovation expert to shed the longer locks in the comments on that post, and while Gaines admitted that the new style was a bit of a bucket list item for him (and also not entirely done on purpose right now), he also said he was going to keep growing it so he could donate it to charity.

Now, the time has come for him to to do the big chop, and he's spelled out the reasoning in an Instagram post of his own. Take a look!

A photo posted by on

As Chip Gaines said he would in July, he's donating his hair to charity, specifically to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and now he's issued a challenge to his fans and followers to help out and raise as much money as possible for the institution. If you're wondering how this will work, the details were spelled out further in a press release. Apparently, while we know for a fact that the hair is coming off this Friday, August 27, people will be able to determine the exact length of the cut as they make donations.

Every time a donation milestone is reached, additional hair will be trimmed, so if fans really put their all into it, Chip Gaines could end up with a shaved head, just like he did in 2017 when he also donated his hair to help out the charity.

That first haircutting mission, nicknamed Operation Haircut, managed to raise $230,000 for St. Jude through social media. The Gaineses also teamed with Target that year to update the patient family dining room at Target House, which is a long-term “home away from home” that houses the families of patients who are receiving treatment at St. Jude. Two years later, in 2019, Chip Gaines also helped to raise another $998,000 for St. Jude with his Chip in Challenge, and the couple also unveiled a garden themed playhouse at Target House for St. Jude patients.

As of right now, this new challenge has raised $17,600 toward its goal of $100,000.

Clearly, Chip and Joanna Gaines have a passion for helping the kids at St. Jude and their families, so viewers have been enduring his long hair this year for a very good reason. I must admit that I agree with many of the fans who don't feel that it really suits him (even though Joanna and their kids seem to like it). But, at least him growing his hair out seems to always mean that he's planning to raise money with it, and that's a very good thing, so I'm ready for the next shaggy hair situation!

However, if you'd rather Chip Gaines were sporting a bald head, you can help him get there this time by making a donation by this Friday, August 27.

Shows like Property Brothers, Love It or List It, 100 Day Dream Home, and Windy City Rehab have millions of fans between them, and many of the experts behind these shows have been able to co-exist because of how their personalities set them all apart. But, rumors have been circling that Fixer Upper's Chip and Joanna Gaines are embroiled in a feud with Home Town's Erin and Ben Napier, and we might now know the truth behind those reports.

Chip and Joanna Gaines are basically living legends where home renovation experts / show hosts are concerned. The duo is in the (much longer than expected) process of launching their own network, Magnolia Network, and have recently come back to TV with a new version of the series which made them household names, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. Meanwhile, Home Town's Ben and Erin Napier are still relatively new to the game, with their immensely popular show currently being in Season 5 on HGTV.

While rumors of a prolonged tiff between the two hammer-wielding couples has been lingering for a couple of weeks, according to Gossip Cop, there's no truth to it at all. The outlet reached out to a representative for Joanna Gaines on the matter, who said:

The ‘rivalry’ these ‘sources’ speak of is literally non-existent...Chip and Joanna adore Ben and Erin, and have nothing but respect and admiration for the work that they do. They’re friends, actually, and any reports inferring otherwise are completely false. This is a non-story.

Well, that seems pretty cut and dry, doesn't it? So, how did all this business about the Gaineses and the Napiers not liking each other get started in the first place? The rumors began in earnest when OK! Magazine printed an article which said that the two couples shared an intense dislike for one another, with Chip and Joanna Gaines feeling pressure to compete with the increasingly popular Erin and Ben Napier, despite the home bases for each of their empires being hundreds of miles apart (Waco, Texas and Laurel, Mississippi, respectively).

Even though that article noted that Joanna Gaines' rep denied the rumors, no direct quote was used. And, the story went on to detail how the Gaineses supposedly feel that the Napiers are "copying everything they do," while the Napiers reportedly think that the older couple has "gone Hollywood," especially with regards to letting their children appear on their shows so frequently.

I suppose it would make sense for many people to assume that those working in the successful, televised home renovation space would be in some competition. Comparisons between the two are pretty easy to make, seeing as how they're both also based in the south, and have a focus on making sure the homes they design have a lot of meaning for their new occupants. Not to mention the fact that each twosome has broadened their scope beyond just tearing down walls on TV, to other business ventures which expand on their respective brands.

Luckily, it sounds as though there's no truth to the rumors that Chip and Joanna Gaines and Erin and Ben Napier are at each other's throats behind the scenes. As we've already seen, it's not like enjoying the adventures of one couple means that you can't also tune in to watch the other and have just as much fun seeing them realize that all the cabinets they ordered arrived busted. All home renovation delays are intriguing to watch when they don't involved your own!

Home Town airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on HGTV, while Fixer Upper: Welcome Home is available to stream on Discovery+.

<dc:description> <p><strong>The Background: </strong>Jerrica Tisdale is a freelance writer at Cinemablend. She joined the team as a freelancer in 2019. She began freelance writing in 2012 (celebrating a big 10-year milestone in 2022). Over the last decade-plus, Jerrica has written for many different publications on pop culture topics, including TellTaleTV, Screenrant, Gossip and Gab, Big Brother Access, The List, Starpulse, and other entertainment sites. She's also done ghostwriting and copywriting for companies such as Groupon and Staples. If it's related to writing, Jerrica has probably done it at some point. However, her passion has always been for pop culture and entertainment topics. &nbsp; She grew up with a deep-rooted passion for film and television. &nbsp; One day, she'll finally be brave enough to write a script or ten thousand scripts. Jerrica considers her true talent to be researching, or as she likes to call it internet detective work.&nbsp;</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What She's Into: </strong>Her favorite shows include Parks and Rec, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Big Brother, Veronica Mars, Fleabag, Barry, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and British panel shows. Her favorite movies include Whiplash, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ruby Sparks, Clueless, What We Do In The Shadows, Atonement, and most movies by David Fincher. Jerrica is also a major book nerd. She has a problem with buying too many books that she may never be able to read all of them, but she will surely try. Her favorite books include Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, Perfect Sound Whatever by James Acaster, anything by Oscar Wilde, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doer, Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, and anything by Khaled Hosseini, James Baldwin, Thomas Hardy, and Edgar Allen Poe. Jerrica is always searching for her next favorite but finds that to be a very hard search, so when she finds something she truly loves, she will never stop talking about it. You'll either hate that or love that about her.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What She's Excited About Right Now: </strong>Jerrica is excited that it's fall movie season, aka Oscar bait season. She plans to invest in a discount movie pass and see as many potential Oscar winners as possible. She's also going to attend virtual (and possibly in-person) screenings at the Chicago International Film Festival this October. Jerrica is also excited to read as many scary or classic novels throughout the month of October. It is spooky season.&nbsp;</p>

The charming couple spent five years on Fixer Upper until its 2018 series finale. Chip and Joanna took some time off from the TV world to focus on each other, their family, and have a new baby, but Joanna and Chip are finally coming back with a new network. They will launch their Magnolia Network on its very own app and on Discovery+ in July 2021.

The official Magnolia Network channel (which will replace DIY network) launches in January 2022. The Magnolia Network was originally set to launch in 2020 but got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Joanna and Chip Gaines' fans may have to wait until July for the official Magnolia Network online release, but Discovery+ already has some shows available to stream from the new network: some series have new episodes added weekly, others have entire seasons already uploaded, and some just have the first episode available. Let’s see what’s already available from Magnolia Network on Discovery+, and what’s coming soon.

Fixer Upper

Fixer Upper stars husband and wife team Joanna and Chip Gaines. Each episode involves the couple remodeling an old home. Chip and his crew work on the construction of the home, while Joanna works on design, usually by combining her own flair with the client’s wants and needs. Fixer Upper originally aired from 2013 to 2018.

The original five seasons of Fixer Upper are available on Discovery+, but as a channel. Discovery+ has a few major shows not available (yet) on demand. Instead, they have a live channel that plays these series all day. Fixer Upper is one of the shows with a channel, but no episodes on demand. It's still unclear whether Fixer Upper episodes will become available on-demand on Discovery+ when the Magnolia Network officially launches later this year.

Stream it on Discovery+ here.

Fixer Upper: Welcome Home

Fixer Upper: Welcome Home is the new Fixer Upper series starring Chip and Joanna Gaines. This is the Gaines family's return to the TV world, so the projects are definitely bigger in scale. It features Joanna sharing some of her favorite classic and family recipes. Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines isn’t like a typical cooking show, because it puts more emphasis on having fun with cooking, and less on technique. Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines also features the Gaines family quite a bit, as they come to help her cook.

Joanna Gaines has multiple best-selling cookbooks, so this is a good series for those who already love Joanna’s cooking or ones that just want to see more of the Gaines family up close and personal. I hadn't really thought about it before, but seeing as how one of the main things that people enjoy about home renovation shows is watching what is essentially trash get turned into treasure, that reveal will be even more impressive if the original property is in some pretty bad shape when Jo and Chip take it on.

I mean, sure, we all love looking at all the fancy new appliances, counter tops, and other design elements all on their own. And, it's also a pleasure to see what they manage to keep and simply update or what has to be radically changed. None of those things are quite as big of a deal, though, without the full context of where the whole house started. And the property on the debut of Fixer Upper: Welcome Home was deceptively unkempt, as you can see from Joanna Gaines' full post, below:

A photo posted by on

The outside of the house, for instance, simply featured some overgrown landscaping and a plain brick facade, neither of which seem like that big of a deal to spruce up. But, if you take a look at the second photo in Gaines' post, you'll see what the kitchen looked like before they began. While small and kinda dark are issues for most people when it comes to the spot where they'll do all of their cooking, I will also direct your eye to the refrigerator on the right side of the picture, which is positively dripping with something absolutely grody, that I just know must have gotten all over the floor.

Meanwhile, the fourth photo, which is of one of the home's bedrooms, shows the kind of state people leave things in when they abandon a house sometimes. I can't even imagine why all of that would be shoved into one room. If you're leaving a bunch of junk behind in a house, wouldn't you just leave it in whatever room it was in and not go through the trouble of moving it all? The last picture is of a bathroom, and I kid you not when I say that I can barely look at that tub without getting the dry heaves. Though, I am envious of that two-closet situation in the bathroom.

As Joanna Gaines said, this made for a fantastic reveal for viewers and a great first home for their clients, and I'm sure Fixer Upper: Welcome Home will be able to bring us more great renovations during Season 1. Episodes from the new series will be available on Discovery+ until Magnolia Network launches later in 2021.

HGTV fans were stunned a little over three years ago when home renovation superstars Chip and Joanna Gaines announced that they would be leaving both their hit show, Fixer Upper, and the network behind to start their own reality-focused channel, the Magnolia Network. While this new branch of their Magnolia empire is still set to debut in 2021, the couple also revealed late this summer that they would, in fact, be giving fans a new version of their retired series. Now, though, there's a way for Chip and Joanna Gaines to bring fans Fixer Upper, and more, before their network launches.

It was announced that fans of Fixer Upper, who also want to get a good look at some of the offerings from Magnolia Network, will now have the opportunity to do so with Discovery+, the new streaming service which will bring viewers content from the Discovery family of brands. This will mean that over 55,000 episodes from networks like HGTV, Travel Channel, OWN, A&E, History Channel, Lifetime and more, including the upcoming Magnolia Network, will be made available when Discovery+ goes live on January 4, 2021.

And, there will be a lot to choose from when it comes to new content which will find its forever home at Magnolia Network. Not only will Discovery+ subscribers get to watch an exclusive first look at Fixer Upper: Welcome Home (the new iteration of Chip and Joanna Gaines' classic home renovation series), but there will be plenty more from the brand new network to keep people entertained. Fans can also tune in to Magnolia Table, Joanna Gaines' cooking show which features her making some of her favorite dishes and sharing why she loves them and makes them so often.

The Discovery+ first looks will also include Magnolia Network shows Road to Launch (where the Gaineses speak with some of the talent behind their upcoming programming), Courage to Run (a documentary about Chip Gaines training for and finishing his first marathon after becoming inspired by "a fortuitous meeting"), as well as the first episodes from a whopping 10 new Magnolia shows. All of these exclusives will be available to viewers on Discovery+ until Magnolia Network finally launches in the U.S., which will come later in 2021.

Viewers who love Chip and Joanna Gaines will likely be the most excited about being able to tune in to Fixer Upper: Welcome Home when the show hits Discovery+. Fans have been without new episodes of one of the biggest home renovation shows to ever hit television since April of 2018, and while there are plenty of other series where you can watch similar updating antics, we all know that what people really become attached to with shows like this are the personalities at the center.

This Discovery+ first look will give audiences a chance to see what Chip and Joanna Gaines have been cooking up since they left HGTV behind. One of the reasons that the popular duo decided to step away from Fixer Upper was their desire to get away from some of the madness associated with leading a major reality show, so that they could be fully themselves in their next venture. They also wanted to be able to give their growing children, who frequently appeared but were starting not to enjoy it so much, a break, which fans will probably notice once the new series debuts.

Fixer Upper: Welcome Home and other first looks at several of Chip and Joanna Gaineses' new shows for Magnolia Network will be available once Discovery+ launches on January 4, 2021.
