The Boys’ fifth and final season is streaming now with a Prime Video subscription amid the 2026 TV schedule, and it’s been intense. As part of this last stretch of episodes, there have been some fun surprises, including a bloody Supernatural reunion between Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins. That finally came to fruition in Episode 5, and it was well worth the wait. On top of that, Prime Video just dropped an excellent outtake, and it shows Collins, Ackles and Padalecki all reprising their SPN characters.

Despite both shows being created by Eric Kripke, The Boys and Supernatural are very different, especially when it comes to how they're written. With that in mind, it was hilariously jarring for me to see the outtake shared to Prime Video's Instagram. In it, Padalecki, Ackles and Collins not only channel Dean, Sam, and Castiel, respectively, but they also make reference to other elements from the beloved CW show like Chuck and Busty Asian Beauties. Take a look:

It’s been over five years since Supernatural ended, and I never thought I'd see the day that Sam, Dean and Castiel would return in some form. While this isn't like a canon addition to SPN lore in any way, it's hard not to smile when seeing the three actors slip back into versions of their beloved characters.

All in all, the trio seamlessly slide back into their respective roles, and it’s almost like no time has passed. Ironically, Ackles was nervous about working with Padalecki and Collins again but, based on this clip and what really happens in the episode, I'd say those concerns weren't warranted. Unsurprisingly, fans are absolutely loving the blooper, and you can see some responses below:

I don’t know what’s better. The fact that Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins reprised their Supernatural roles, or that the trio got pretty violent with each other on the actual show. During the episode, Ackles' Soldier Boy and Collins’ Malchemical get into a fight with Padalecki’s Mister Marathon, who ends up getting killed by Homelander (Antony Starr). Such a crushing scene is what I'd expect from The Boys and, while there's a sense of irony to such brutal moment marking a great reunion of actors, let's be glad we now have it along with this blooper.

Speaking of outtakes, I'm curious as to how long it took for them to really get through filming. Those who have seen the 15 seasons’ worth of Supernatural bloopers know that for a serious show, the stars could get completely unserious while filming. To this day, I’m not sure how everyone managed to do 15 seasons and over 300 episodes, because it always seemed like Ackles, Padalcki and Collins could not get through scenes.

After seeing this episode of The Boys, what I want now more than ever is an R-rated Supernatural revival. The chances of that happening are probably slim, but I'll continue to hold onto that hope. For now, know that new episodes of The Boys hit Prime Video on Wednesdays. Also, those who want to see Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins on Supernatural can also stream all 15 seasons of the show on the aforementioned streaming service.

The long-awaited Supernatural reunion finally hit The Boys on Wednesday on the 2026 TV schedule, and it was pretty memorable. Fans got to see Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins on-screen together for the first time since Supernatural ended in 2020, and it wasn’t anything like The CW series. And since it is The Boys, things got pretty violent and bloody.

Ackles has previously opened up about how nervous he was about his former co-stars joining him on The Boys. While the trio frequently sees each other at fan conventions, working together again is a different story. He told Deadline how it was working with Padalecki and Collins again after so long, admitting they had to do some adjusting since they were in a different environment:

As both a Supernatural and The Boys fan, it was so fun seeing Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins on screen together. While it was definitely not like Supernatural, and they weren’t the only ones having to do some adjusting, seeing them banter and joke around, it was like nothing had changed.

Of course, there were some additional lines of coke and a whole lot of blood, but it was as entertaining as ever. It was announced a while ago that a Supernatural reunion was coming for the fifth and final season of The Boys, with very little information surrounding it, and the wait was definitely worth it. And even despite the adjusting, Ackles loved it:

When it came to filming the scene in question, it was not your typical Supernatural scene. Padalecki portrayed a former member of The Seven, Mister Marathon, while Collins was Malchemical, a Supe whose power is toxic gas. There’s a lot of fighting, a lot of violence, a lot of blood, and neither Mister Marathon nor Malchemical makes it out alive, thanks to both Soldier Boy and Homelander. But throughout everything, Ackles felt comfortable with what they were all doing, and putting on the Soldier Boy suit while filming with his former co-stars:

Even though working on The Boys together is a little different from Supernatural, it’s not like Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins haven’t dealt with crazy characters before. Ackles recalled the intense storylines that they had to do on SPN, and having to play different, villainous versions of their characters, so it’s not that big of a stretch:

While the episode ended on a pretty tragic note, it was still entertaining to see Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins on-screen together, especially since you don’t know when it’ll happen again. There have been some talks of a potential Supernatural revival, so who knows what will happen. For now, fans can always watch Supernatural with a Peacock subscription. New episodes of The Boys drop on Wednesdays on Prime Video.

The Boys has once again topped itself with the episode “One-Shots,” which shockingly killed off a major Supe, set up an until-death rivalry between two others, and delivered a celebrity cameo-filled sequence that went far beyond the highly anticipated Supernatural reunion for Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. This will no doubt go down as one of the most fun and bloodiest hours in all of 2026 TV.

So let’s put our viscera-proof swimming caps on and dive into this muck to celebrate all the larger-than-usual number of wild and gory deaths, as well as series executive producer Seth Rogen heading up a murderer’s row (and eventually murdered row) of comedy stars, including Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Will Forte and Craig Robinson. All in a day’s work for the Supes that populate The Boys, amirite?

Jensen Ackles Got To Brutally Kill Off His Supernatural Co-Stars

The very first look at Misha Collins on The Boys surprisingly foreshadowed his death in the episode, with Soldier Boy holding his character Malchemical by the throat just before snapping the Supe's neck. I thought the show might buck that expectation somehow, but no.

From a plot perspective, Malchemical's death is pretty tragic by way of Butcher & Co.'s grand plan to kill off Homelander, since he could emit fumes noxious enough to knock the Seven's leader unconscious. Unfortunately, none of The Boys are likely aware Malcehmical exists, and thus likely won't be able to reverse-engineer his knockout gas. (That said, I'm holding out hope for Misha Collins-as-a-corpse to reappear in Episode 506 for Frenchie to extract DNA from.)

Jared Padalecki's speedster Mister Marathon was also an important introduction for the overall plot, as he confirmed where perhaps the last remaining vials of the V1 serum are. But his death was most much elaborate, utilizing some of the gnarliest practical effects I've ever seen in this show. (But only after fans got to see a hilarious assortment of Sony Pictures-produced VCU offshoot movies with Padalecki's character front and center.)

In a sequence straight out of a Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon, Marathon runs arouns his mansion chasing Soldier Boy, who amusingly puts the various celebs in his pursuer's path, causing each of them to full-on explode the way Hughie's girlfriend did when A-Train zipped through her. I guess Rogen didn't get fully 'sploded, but more on that below.

I Absolutely Loved The Dorky Nods To Superbad And Saturday Night Live

If you're looking for an SNL vet to play the weirdest dude in your movie, you're probably gonna go with Kyle Mooney. But if we're talking the second-weirdest character, that's the realm ruled over by talents like Will Forte and Bill Hader. Only, the latter isn't around anymore in The Boys' timeline, as he was outed (correctly or otherwise) as being a Starlighter, and Forte was only too happy to take advantage. As he put it:

I think hearing him refer to himself as "The Forte" could grow on me. But probably not for a while.

Elsewhere, when everyone is reacting in a panic to Homelander getting knocked out, Mister Marathon makes it clear that one of Forte's most memorable characters does indeed exist in this universe.

• MISTER MARATHON: Chill out, MacGruber! Everything is cool.

Forte's body does end up looking like the wrong end of a MacGruber mission, as he's the first celeb Soldier Boy sacrifices while running away.

But let's jump back a bit to before things getting so bloody. Seeing Seth Rogen and Christopher Mitz-Plasse together at the card table immediately sparked memories of Superbad, given that was the movie that put Mintz-Plasse on the map. So it's only fitting that he hilariously threw co-star Michael Cera under the bus as a possible traitor.

• CHRIS MINTZ-PLASSE: Hey, do we think Michael Cera's a Starlighter? 'Cause we're up for the same part right now, and it'd be pret-ty good if he got vanished.
• SETH ROGEN: You've been friends with him for 20 years, Chris.
• CHRIS: Yeah, but I really need this part, man.

A couple of minutes later, Homelander's ire has everyone on edge, and Mintz-Plasse once again draws attention to the Arrested Development vet, saying:

Technically, the Bill Hader comment could also count as a Superbad reference, since he and Rogen played the bumbling cops in that. Fans may recall that Craig Robinson played a drug dealer in 2007 comedy and its "Cop Car Confessions" extras. Well, he also showed up for an extremely brief cameo to gripe about Danny Trejo's tacos before Mister Marathon turned him into human salsa.

Seth Rogen Joked About Hating Weed And Then Got Half His Body Blown Off

Amidst all of the stressful happenings, Mintz-Plasse sparks up a joint and offers it to Rogen, who turns it down with the following reasoning:

It's high-ly ridiculous for this scene to imply that Mintz-Plasse wouldn't already be aware of Rogen's disinterest in the devil's lettuce after so many years. But still a funny joke, since there's a less than 0% chance that Rogen wasn't stoned while filming that very scene.

Firecracker's Fuse Was Permanently Snuffed

After all the earlier events of the episode, including Sister Sage laying out her mega-plan to eradicate humanity and catch up on reading, Homelander punctuated the episode off with another shocking death. After Firecracker pulled off arguably her most deplorable and sickening act by falsely accusing her hometown pastor and his church of being in cahoots with Starlighter, so soon after sitting with him and knowing that wasn't the case at all.

Against her better wishes, Firecracker remained loyal to Homelander's "I'm God now" turn to a fault, and likely would have continued to do his bidding for years on end. Which could have happened just so if Homelander never learned that she bagged his old man. He should have directed his anger at Soldier Boy, who knew that Homelander didn't rise to the occasion with her, but instead took it out on the one who actually had his back.

It's not quite as divisive as A-Train death scene in the premiere, since there wasn't anything redeemable happening with Firecracker. But still gave an equally cruel example of how little Homelander cares about anything or anyone around him. He's even getting breast milk from rando churchgoers now? For shame.

For many fans out there, the fifth episode of The Boys represents a special moment in pop culture, as "One-Shots" will showcase the long-awaited Supernatural reunion between Soldier Boy portrayer Jensen Ackles and former co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Eric Kripke, who created both of the hugely popular series, doesn’t necessarily see the two projects as being all that different, at least thematically, even if they don’t share a similar level of on-screen lube and other fluids.

Kripke spoke with Comic Book Resources ahead of the key episode hitting the 2026 TV schedule, and he weighed in on the ways he thinks both The Boys and Supernatural stem from the same core idea, and it’s a link that seems perfectly clear in hindsight. As he put it:

To be sure, it's a central theme that could easily apply to plenty of other TV shows and their characters, from Scooby-Doo (which got a Supernatural crossover) to the Buffy-verse to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. (Maybe?!?) But it does absolutely hold true for both shows, even as it takes different approaches.

Supernatural is certainly more tied into the biological family is key idea, with the Winchester lineage also getting explored in the short-lived prequel series. That series also played into more religious bloodlines as well, such as Jack Kline's Nephilim origins, but the show never lost sight of the idea that Sam and Dean were the anchors, and those who joined them were family as much as those who stood against were not.

On the flip side, while The Boys has featured some complicated biological relations — the nightmare of Soldier Boy fathering Homelander — it's so much more about the idea of its titular found family. Hughie didn't grow up with Butcher, Starlight, or the others, but he doesn't know life without them at this point in the show's run. And they're slowly but surely all working towards one shared goal, although the various different sub-goals may destroy things.

Eric Kripke shared this thoughtful addendum to that idea, reinforcing the notion that nobody should feel like they have to face difficulties and tragedies alone. In his words:

Thankfully, despite an uncanny number of comparative situations between The Boys and our real world, it doesn't seem like we're ever going to have to deal with V-infused superbeings influencing the government, global commerce and the entertainment industry. So we don't all need to form Boys-esque groups just to cope. But if that time ever does come, I like to think I'd be the Frenchie of the group. Draw whatever conclusions you will from that.

Eric Kripke also shared a genuine response when asked by CBR how Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki's Supernatural brothers would fare if they lived The Boys' supe-filled world.

Monday’s episode of The Rookie on the 2026 TV schedule once again brought the documentary format back (as was the case with that wild truth serum episode). With that, series creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley once again served as everyone’s favorite documentarian. Like all of the doc-centric episodes, the case for this installment was intense and odd. What really caught me off guard, though, was Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles making a surprise appearance, and Supernatural was involved in an A+ way.

In the episode, “Survive the Streets,” the case centered on a retired LAPD officer, Rich Rowley, who died by suicide after he believed he was possessed by a demon. As everyone dug into what happened and recalled the events for the documentary, it was discovered that the director of a ‘90s horror film -- which the retired Rich appeared in -- located a tome that led to summoning the demon, Malaphus, since he wanted the ritual to be really specific.

Naturally, this led the documentary crew to interview none other than Padalecki and Ackles, because who would know more about demons than two people who dealt with demons (on TV) for 15 years? The actors -- playing themselves -- got on a Zoom call to reflect on meeting Rich at a convention. They recalled Rich's obsession with an episode of Supernatural, which saw Sam and Dean Winchester fighting Malaphus. Rich apparently believed the pair of stars knew about demon hunting, and he asked a lot of questions. Ackles then pointed out in the interview that demon hunters were not real and that it was all made up.

It’s a short scene, but it's as much fun as it is unexpected. Even though Padalecki and Ackles don’t reunite in person, since they are both on Zoom separately, it's still so great to see them on screen together. The icing on the cake, though, is the fact that Supernatural is even brought into the mix five years after its cancellation. As a fan of both Supernatural and The Rookie, I was pleasantly surprised at the cameo, and I’m still wondering how they managed to pull it off. Still, I won't question such a great nod!

Ironically, this Padalecki and Ackles collaboration comes ahead of a different reunion they’re set to do. The duo will appear together during the fifth and final season of The Boys, which is streaming now with an Amazon Prime subscription. Ackles is reprising his role as Soldier Boy, while Padalecki and fellow Supernatural alum Misha Collins will appear later in the season in undisclosed roles. Ackles opened up about the reunion, and he revealed just how nervous he was about his two co-stars appearing. All in all, though, it seems they -- along with EP Eric Kripke -- had a great time.

In terms of The Rookie, though, the series is getting down to its final few episodes. With that, I would assume a few more surprises could be in store. Whether those happen -- and if they'll be as big as Padalecki and Ackles’ cameos -- remains to be seen. I'm excited to see what happens, though!

Ackles explained to TVLine why he was a bit nervous about his former co-stars joining the fun on the Prime hit, and it’s pretty understandable:

Ackles joined The Boys, which was created by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, in Season 3, and he’s now set to lead his own prequel, Vought Rising, alongside Aya Cash. Joining a series, especially one you’re a fan of, can be intimidating, so it makes sense that he was nervous about being on The Boys. But then those nerves just got bigger when Padalecki and Collins joined the show for Season 5, and it was more so for them rather than for him, and it really shows just how much he cares for them.

Despite the nerves radiating from the three of them, Ackles recalled just how fun filming The Boys with Padalecki and Collins truly was. As of now, their roles have yet to be revealed, but from the looks of the trailer, the three will be getting into some fun trouble, and for the Soldier Boy actor, it was like nothing had changed:

Those who have seen 15 years’ worth of Supernatural bloopers or really any panel video from any convention they’ve attended know that things can get pretty chaotic when you put Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins in one room. So it’s nice to know that not much has changed between them since the last time they were all on-screen together. And it makes me even more excited to see what they bring to The Boys.

It can be assumed that Padalecki and Collins’ roles won’t be revealed until The Boys Season 5 premieres. Regardless of what their roles are, it’s going to be pretty fun seeing them and Ackles together again, even if Soldier Boy is going to be roughing them up a bit. When The Boys finally dropped the first full-length Season 5 trailer online, the biggest group of fan reactions logically came from Boys viewers themselves. But given that this season features the highly discussed reunion between Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles and former co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, those actors’ appearances in the promo have also sparked a ton of comments from the SPN community, with many of them sharing the same idea.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, who also happened to create Supernatural, knew exactly what he was doing when he first cast Ackles as the villainous Soldier Boy, and thankfully fed into the fanbase’s hopes for the actor to one again share the screen with his former on-screen bro and angel BFF. The details behind it all have somehow been kept mostly hidden from public knowledge, but the trailer heavily indicated that this won’t be an entirely loving interaction, at least going by how Soldier Boy handles Collins’ character.

At least that’s how it might come across to anyone who’s never written/spoken/embodied the word Destiel before. To those in the know, a little choking and roughhousing between these two is far closer to a dream scenario than anything antagonistic. More like Sold-rawr Boy, amirite?

No, not everyone buys into this character ship between Ackles' Dean Winchester and Collins' Castiel, or that it was made canonical in the final season before one of the most devastating deaths of Supernatural's run. Yes, an anti-Destiel crowd has long existed online. Yes, there are Boys viewers whose undies are in a bunch over SPN fans hijacking the conversation. But there's contrarianism everywhere you look online, and that's not what we're focusing on here. So on with the positivity!

These are exemplary of a much larger subsection of the commentary surrounding The Boys' trailer, although they're the more friendly-for-work comments as compared to other more lurid reactions.

Supernatural's Tumblr fame even re-entered the spotlight after the promo dropped and reinvigorated the shipdom and its most vocal proponents. And whoever's in charge of the site's social media gets kudos for acknowledging it.

Amusingly enough, with all the attention going to seeing Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins sharing the screen again, not as much of the talk has focused on the wildly gory outcome of that scene, in which Misha Collins' character is apparently turned into an unrecognizable pile of organs. Not the cleanest way to pay off on a long-awaited reunion.

And all the while, Jared Padalecki's character is just standing and watching from the side, which drew its own amusing reaction.

With the final season’s production wrap recently being celebrated by the crew, The Boys Season 5 will blast its way onto Prime Video starting on April 8, 2026. Meanwhile, fans looking for SUpernatural won’t find it at its former longtime home of Netflix, but rather using a Peacock subscription.

Jared Padalecki is long beloved by fans for his roles in series like Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, and I am one of many who can’t wait to see him reunite with Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins on the final season of The Boys. But as we wait for the premiere of Season 5, Padalecki just gave us quite the unexpected personal update when he posted an online review and revealed that he has a broken leg.

The actor — one of many popular celebrities from Texas — apparently had a bad experience with a food delivery service, and as people tend to do, Jared Padalecki took to social media to alert the company and other customers. The target of his disdain was Favor, a service associated with the Lone Star State-based grocery chain H-E-B. Padalecki began his cautionary tale, writing on X:

Wait, hold on a minute. Go back to the part about the broken leg? I think I speak for many fans when I say we’re gonna need the long version of this story.

Anyway, back to the sushi. Jared Padalecki’s post goes on to say that his driver returned to the restaurant and recovered the missing food, but despite the items already being paid for (and “tipped in full,” according to the actor), customer service refused to allow the driver to deliver the rest of his order.

Now, I wasn’t there, obviously, but I can’t help but wonder if this was a food quality issue? I’m not sure what all Jared Padalecki’s order included, but sushi isn’t the kind of thing you want sitting out for a long time. Either way, the Gilmore Girls alum was left hungry and unable to get out to procure nourishment for himself. He concluded his post by writing:

Those are pretty strong words, but I get it. Having your food delivery order messed up is so frustrating due to the time it takes and how expensive it can be. It’s especially bad when, for whatever reason, you’re not able to go out and get the food yourself.

That brings us back to the broken leg. Fans expressed concern in the comments, saying:

It seems like the injury must be a new one, because in his most recent Instagram post three weeks ago, he appeared to be walking around Calgary just fine.

In addition to The Boys Season 5 — premiering on the 2026 TV schedule this April to stream with a Prime Video subscription —- Jared Padalecki is also set to star in a Netflix Christmas movie with Leighton Meester, and obviously with the actor providing no other information about his injury, we can’t know if that or any of his other projects are affected.

Hopefully the Supernatural star has a quick recovery, and if he feels like dropping the long version of how he ended up with a broken leg, I know a lot of fans who will be interested to read it.

There are a lot of things I love about Christmas movies — the festive beverages, the male strippers (you know the one), and the nostalgia of seeing actors from my favorite shows of past decades show up to star in them. There’s plenty of that on the 2025 Christmas movie schedule, and it looks like we have something to look forward to next year, because Gilmore Girls star Jared Padalecki and Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester just signed on for a Christmas movie to hit the Netflix schedule, presumably in 2026.

This year’s Hallmark calendar may feature Aaron Samuels, Superman and Sue Heck coming together for the super cute A Keller Family Christmas, but Millennials everywhere will be counting the sleeps until next Christmas when the book-to-screen adaptation of Katherine Center’s The Bodyguard comes to Netflix. Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki made the announcement on Thursday with the help of the author:

OK, my young adulthood was spent obsessing over Blair Waldorf and those iconic Gossip Girl outfits, as well as going through relationship ups and downs with Rory and her first boyfriend Dean Forester on Gilmore Girls, so this news definitely has my blood pumping.

The Bodyguard, published in 2022, is centered around a “no-nonsense bodyguard” (Meester) who is assigned to protect “a charming action star” (Padalecki) over the holidays, per THR. Sparks will fly, things will get complicated, and while I have not yet read Katherine Center’s book, I think we all know how these things tend to go.

Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum is set to direct, and if that name sounds familiar, you might remember the way she emotionally wrecked viewers with her Purple Hearts adaptation back in 2022.

Hopefully no such wreckage is on the agenda this time around, though we already know some changes will be made to the source material. For one thing, the novel is not set around Christmas, whereas the Netflix film will be. Secondly, the movie can obviously not be called The Bodyguard, given that Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner laid claim to that title back in 1992, and it’s kind of well-known.

Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum expressed excitement for the project and for the actors who have signed on, saying in a statement:

I, for one, am pretty excited about it. Leighton Meester has already given fans an A+ reunion, as she shared the screen with her real-life husband Adam Brody in Nobody Wants This Season 2. Fans couldn’t get enough of Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen together, and this upcoming Christmas movie should provide a lot of that same nostalgia.

Jared Padalecki, for his part, not only recently reunited with Gilmore Girls co-star Matt Czuchry (sans Milo Ventimiglia), but he’ll also appear on The Boys Season 5 alongside his former Supernatural co-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins.

As Millennials, we love to see that kind of thing, and I’m just glad there’s plenty to look forward to as we wait for this fun Netflix movie to come out next Christmas. Stay tuned for updates, including other cast members and what title is chosen for the adaptation.

Gilmore Girls fans who are still debating who was Rory’s best boyfriend have been able to cast their votes this fall a different way — with Panera Bread’s soups. The fast casual chain enlisted the help of Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry to advertise their fall soups, but hello? What about Team Jess? Turns out Milo Ventimiglia just learned about the mini-reunion, and I’m loving his reaction.

It’s been 25 years since we were first introduced to the Gilmore Girls — single mom Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) — along with several boyfriends as we followed Rory into young adulthood. When Milo Ventimiglia was asked why he didn’t join his former co-stars in the Panera commercial, he responded to People:

While this might sound like the coldest burn since Mariah Carey said, “I don’t know her,” the This Is Us alum honestly didn’t know about the ad, and he’s got a pretty good excuse:

I’d have to agree. In the commercial, Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry passionately defend their soup choices, with Padalecki’s Fireside Chili matching traits of his character Dean — Rory’s first love — as the reliable one that “tastes like home” and is the “perfect first … bowl of soup.”

Matt Czuchry’s Autumn Squash Soup, meanwhile, is “more sophisticated,” the actor says, and “so rich” — just like Rory’s college boyfriend Logan.

Neither seem too psyched about the return of the Black Bean Soup, aka “the bad boy,” per the Supernatural star. Referencing Milo Ventimiglia’s Jess, Matt Czuchry describes it as “brooding, mysterious, hot,” which the new dad apparently found amusing, as he said:

The Panera Bread ad is certainly worth the watch for anyone who hasn’t picked a soup team yet, but I’ll spare you the trouble of having to search for it:

The “best boyfriend” debate may still be an intense one to Gilmore Girls fans, but the actors involved have never had anything but love for one another. When Milo Ventimiglia declared his love for Dean a few years ago, Jared Padalecki responded in kind with his own homemade sign professing his love for Jess.

Knowing how well all of these actors get along, hopefully Panera Bread will remember that next fall and invite Milo Ventimiglia to the reunion, so as not to disrespect the members of Team Jess.

In the meantime, fans can continue to relive Lorelai and Rory’s adventures in Stars Hollow by streaming Gilmore Girls with either a Netflix subscription or Hulu subscription. The spinoff Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is available on Netflix.

It’s officially been 25 years since we were first introduced to the fast-talking, pop culture-referencing mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory on Gilmore Girls. Even now, though, fans will take any excuse to revive the debate that’s been going on for years about Rory’s boyfriends. In discussing the coming-of-age series’ anniversary, Scott Patterson weighed in on the Team Dean, Team Jess, Team Logan of it all, and I am obsessed with his blunt take on the matter.

Over the course of seven seasons and a revival comprising four feature-length episodes, Gilmore Girls fans watched Rory (Alexis Bledel) grow from precocious teenager to Yale graduate. We’ve seen her fall in love, suffer heartbreak, have affairs and ultimately, become pregnant, and you can bet we’ve got opinions on all of it. Somebody else who watched Rory grow up? Luke Danes, the often-grumpy diner owner, who would eventually become her stepfather, and Scott Patterson has a hilarious take on picking a team, joking to People:

This is spoken like a true father figure, despite the fact that Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) is Luke’s actual nephew. It’s totally believable to me that no man would ever be good enough for Rory in his eyes. The actor continued:

I guess we’ll put Scott Patterson down as Team Wookiee then?

I’ve got to say, he makes a really good point. I’ve always been a strong member of the Team Jess contingent, but it’s really unfair to limit Rory to three guys she met so early in life. Dean (Jared Padalecki) was her first love, so nobody can be blamed for carrying that torch, but do we really wish that had been endgame?

Then there’s Logan (Matt Czuchry), and I don’t care that Kelly Bishop — Emily Gilmore herself — thinks he was Rory’s best boyfriend, I just can’t see it. Czuchry couldn’t even fully deny his character’s shortcomings when asked if Logan was a bad partner.

I could defend Jess as the one who understood Rory the most, and it seems Scott Patterson may have sympathized with his on-screen nephew at one point, too, as he admitted to toggling between Gilmore Girls characters before coming to his ultimate conclusion. Patterson said:

So wise. This is why we need Luke (that, and for the coffee, of course). I’m not sure we’ll ever get more Gilmore Girls (or find out who the father of Rory’s child is), but the fact that we’re still debating her love life a quarter-century later speaks to how beloved this series is.

The Supernatural fandom has been buzzing about Jensen Ackles’ latest series, Countdown, which began streaming with an Amazon Prime subscription in June amid the 2025 TV schedule. Even before the show premiered, many SPN fans expressed excitement. Unfortunately, it seems that hype wasn't enough, as Amazon has officially canceled the show after one season. Now, Jared Padalecki, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and more are showing love to Ackles, who also spoke about the heartbreaking news.

How Jensen Ackles Reacted To The Cancellation News

Not long after news broke about the cancellation, Ackles, who played Detective Mark Meachum, took to Instagram to share a video to speak out about it. He further confirmed that Countdown didn’t get picked up for another season, and said it was a “bummer” since he had an “amazing time” making the series and working with the cast and crew. Ackles went on to thank creator Derek Haas, former Amazon TV head Vernon Sanders. The leading man also noted that it’s just the way the industry works while also expressing gratitude. He said:

Even though Countdown’s Rotten Tomatoes score wasn’t great, as it’s sitting at only 35% for the approval rating, it’s still a surprise that it was canceled, considering it had been lingering in Prime Video's Top 10 for a while. The show offered both action and drama, with Eric Dane and Jessica Camacho also amongst the cast members alongside Elliot Knight, Uli Latukefu and Violett Beane. The fact that Countdown’s first season ended on a cliffhanger makes the cancellation hurt even more. Having enjoyed the series, I am definitely bummed as well. At the very least, plenty of people are showing their love and support for Ackles in the aftermath of this unfortunate development.

Many of Ackles’ Supernatural and The Boys buddies took to the comments of his Instagram video along well as other famous friends. I'd imagine that a TV cancellation is rarely ever easy for an actor, but the notion of fellow actors showing love could be comforting. Check out some of the lovely comments sent Jensen Ackles' way:

It is sweet seeing so many people that Ackles has worked with and has remained close to sharing their support. Of course, I would very much prefer a world in which these comments are celebratory reactions to a second season of Countdown and not consolation over its cancellation.

At the very least, Jensen Ackles is remaining busy, as he’s set to appear in the third season of Tracker on CBS. He’s also working on The Boys prequel, Vought Rising, reprising his role as Soldier Boy. He is also returning for The Boys’ fifth and final season, which has yet to have a premiere date. Considering Ackles' star status, I wouldn't be surprised if he lands another role sooner rather than later. Still, I think I'm always going to wonder how Countdown's cliffhanger was going to be resolved.

Saturday, September 13 marked the 20^th anniversary of Supernatural's debut on The WB. The pilot episode kick-started what would be 15 seasons of adventures with the Winchester brothers. Given the milestone, much of the cast and crew recently looked back at SPN’s legacy. Series creator Eric Kripke and co-lead Jared Padalecki celebrated with sweet posts, although I also would've been happy with some rules to live by.

Dean Winchester’s Rules to Live By are the core principles that Jensen Ackles’ eldest Winchester sibling, well, lives by. Those include protecting his little brother, staying off the grid and eating before a hunt. And, of course, there's the infamous, “Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole” stipulation. Even though neither Kripke nor Padalecki shared their own rules to live by, Kripke did share a lengthy message on Instagram alongside his original pitch for Supernatural to The WB:

Getting a visual representation of how Supernatural started and knowing what came of it is truly remarkable. I am curious to know where Dean’s rules came in as well, because they're not mentioned in the pitch, and it’s hard to imagine him without his core rules. Though, considering there are a few storyline pitches that ultimately didn’t get chosen, it’s not surprising that changes were made between the series' pickup and the start of production.

As for Jared Padalecki, he also shared a long message on Instagram alongside pictures of the pilot script and his sides from the table read all those years ago. Even though he also didn’t share any rules to live by, he did reference a pretty iconic quote that Sam would say on numerous occasions. It's ultimately a great alternative to the rules, and it conveys just how much the show means to him. (It also make me all the more excited for the upcoming SPN reunion on The Boys):

While it's definitely hard to believe that it’s been two decades since Supernatural aired, what's even more amazing is the staying power it still has. The show has gained a massive following over the years and, with all of the seasons being streamable with Netflix subscription, more fans -- young and older -- can still watch the Winchesters hunt down otherworldly creatures. All the while, of course, Dean drives and picks the music while also acting like an overprotective big brother.

As far as the show's legacy goes, Supernatural’s finale is still controversial due to how it ended and what was and was not included. It’s hard to please everyone, of course, and COVID also played a big part in how the episode shook out. At the very least, most of SPN’s run was memorable, though I still would've liked that Vampire Diaries crossover that was previously pitched.

Between the heartfelt brother moments, Dean’s rules, the action, the supernatural creatures, Team Free Will, and much more, Supernatural packed a lot into its 15-season run, and then some. What makes me smile is that those associated with the show, like Jared Padalecki and Eric Kripke, still has such affection for it. Fans will surely never forget their work -- as well as those rules to live by.

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki may have left their iconic Supernatural characters behind by this point in the 2025 TV schedule, but the two stars have proven to have sharp memories about their time on the show. In honor of the 20th anniversary of the pilot, which aired on September 13, 2005 on The WB, they opened up about which of the 327 total episodes stand out as the worst. While I was surprised by Padalecki's pick (and neither named the controversial series finale), I have to agree with both of their choices.

Jensen Ackles' Worst Episode

Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles of course played Sam and Dean Winchester through some very high highs and very low lows over the course of fifteen seasons. Joined by longtime costar Misha Collins ahead of their on-screen reunion on The Boys, they spoke with EW about what went down over the years and what ultimately didn't work so well. When the Season 1 episode "Bugs" came up, Ackles revealed that he agrees with the fan consensus that it's pretty much the worst installment of the series. The Countdown star said:

"Bugs" was the eighth episode of Season 1 and aired back in 2005, so it says something that Ackles could still deem it as the worst of the series. Available streaming now with a Netflix subscription, "Bugs" brought Sam and Dean into the mix of a housing development under construction on sacred Native American lands when people start dying due to – you guessed it – bugs. It wasn't a great episode back in the day when the show was airing, and I'd guess that it really hasn't aged well.

The stars remember it less than fondly for other reasons, however, with Padalecki chiming in that they had "like 70,000 bees" on set to film. Based on what Ackles went on to say, those bees were not meant for showbiz. He shared:

On the plus side, neither of the actors had a bee allergy that could have resulted in disaster very early in the run of Supernatural, and they did have professionals on set to handle the bees. The problem? Bees aren't the most cooperative costars. Jared Padalecki recalled:

It's been a long time since I've seen "Bugs," but I definitely don't remember Sam and/or Dean gently guiding any of the bees away! And don't forget – this was back in 2005, so recording bee attacks in Supernatural's first season (on film, no less) is a far cry from all the VFX used for 9-1-1's bee-nado last year. I'm no Supernatural-esque prophet, but I feel comfortable saying that if a revival ever does happen with the stars, they won't be making "Bugs 2."

Jared Padalecki's Worst Episode

Jared Padalecki jumped forward in time from that unpopular 2005 episode for his worst episode, naming an arc that I'd also agree isn't one of Supernatural's strongest: the Leviathan in Season 7. Looking back to 2011 - 2012, the Fire Country actor said:

While Padalecki didn't name a specific one, Dick Roman was featured in six episodes of Season 7. If I had to guess, he was thinking of one of the last few, because I remember as a viewer being very tired of the dick jokes by the end of the arc. Ackles agreed with his on-screen brother, saying "It was a lot."

Well, a show that runs for 327 episodes isn't going to have 327 perfect installments! Considering the fandom that is still going strong five years after the finale and two decades after the premiere, there are clearly far more good than bad episodes. "Bugs" is also what I would say is one of just a few clunkers from the first season.

The series finale of Supernatural was divisive for many reasons, ranging from Dean’s anticlimactic death via rebar to a shortage of familiar faces in the very last episode ever. Even as the 2025 TV schedule continues with Jensen Ackles starring in Prime Video’s Countdown and Jared Padalecki set to appear in the upcoming season of The Boys, fans of their CW show surely still want to know: who was the blurry woman who Sam married and had a son with in the finale flash-forward? Showrunner Andrew Dabb shared his thoughts, nearly five years later, and they don’t quite match what Padalecki has said.

What The Showrunner Said About Sam’s Wife

Short of Supernatural getting a Buffy-esque revival, we may never have a canonical answer, but I was among the viewers back in late 2020 who just wanted to know if the woman who was Sam’s wife was supposed to be Eileen, played by Shoshannah Stern. Was she a random brunette who we’d never met before but Sam met and married after Dean’s death? Or was she supposed to be Eileen, but the show just couldn’t get her back to film the finale under 2020 COVID-19 guidelines? Well, showrunner Andrew Dabb weighed in, with Swooon reporting his comments:

While that initial answer was just about as vague as the face of Sam’s blurry wife in the Season 15 finale, Dabb went on to note that the “logistical challenge of bringing a lot of people in, being the first show up during COVID, was just not feasible on our end.” Considering that Supernatural didn’t even bring in Misha Collins – arguably the third lead of the series – for the finale, I can understand why even some of the most important guest stars couldn’t make the cut. I don’t love it, but I get it!

Dabb had even shared the original vision for Sam and Dean’s endings that would have featured a lot of familiar faces. Still, he has a take of his own, even if the episode will never deliver the answers fans want about Eileen as Sam’s wife (or not). He said:

Andrew Dabb’s take? That blurry woman who married Sam and became the mother to young Dean was Eileen, as a natural extension of where Season 15 had been leading with them. Jared Padalecki just had a different take when asked about his character’s wife.

What Jared Padalecki Said About Sam’s Wife

The Supernatural co-lead was asked about the identity of Sam’s spouse a few months after the finale aired, so the mystery was a lot fresher to the episode than Andrew Dabb weighing in circa 2025. Padalecki told Variety that no version of the script included an identity of who Sam ended up with after Dean’s death, so he had no more details than what we saw: a brunette woman blurred out from a distance. He said:

I feel comfortable saying that Dean definitely wouldn’t have wanted Sam to marry Ruby even if she was still around, but it’s a little harder to swallow the idea of him objecting to Eileen just because she was still in “the life.” Sam’s feelings for her in Season 15 were very real and apparent, and Dean would have wanted his brother to be happy.

Still, Padalecki is the man who played Sam Winchester for more than 300 episodes over fifteen seasons, so he obviously knows his character. Plus, his speculation is no more canonical than Andrew Dabb saying that he believed in an endgame for Sam and Eileen. Besides, who's to say whether or not Padalecki still feels the same way these days?

I’d say that the gist is that fans can believe what they want to believe. And really, is that anything new for the Supernatural fandom? Surely I’m not the only one who just overlooks certain episodes for the sake of enjoying the whole! Despite running for an incredible 15 seasons, Supernatural was still wildly popular, and almost certainly could have kept going for at least another couple of seasons if the stars had the will to continue. Whatever they end up doing in their careers, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki will all but certainly be known for this show above all others.

And considering how frequently popular TV shows from years gone by get remade, rebooted, or straight up revived, one has to wonder if such a thing will be possible here. Andrew Dabb, the showrunner for the final three seasons of the show, tells TV Insider that in his mind, it’s not even a question of if, simply when. Debb said…

The man has a point. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a reboot. That's a show that, while still incredibly popular, seemed incredibly unlikely to return, especially with Sarah Michelle Gellar involved. And yet, it's happening. If Buffy can come back, it can happen to anybody.

While the Supernatural finale left things in a good, though divisive, place, as Andrew Dabb says, there’s nothing in that ending that prevents a new adventure from popping up for Sam and Dean. Besides, when God is a potential character, nothing is off the table. There are still plenty of supernatural monsters, angels, and demons who could be at the center of a new story. Dabb even comes up with an opening scene, seemingly from the top of his head. Dabb suggested…

While there may be better or worse ideas for an opening, a setup like that would certainly be intriguing. The real question of whether or not a revival would work would likely be answered in the scenes that followed, explaining just what was going on.

Dabb is almost certainly correct in his basic assessment, that at some point, in some form, Supernatural will return. Whether the two main stars are part of it or not, and whether bringing it back is even a good idea, will only be determined once somebody decides that it’s time to bring it back. Although, since it’s only been five years since the show wrapped up its run, that day is probably still at least a little ways off.

This year not only marks five years since Supernatural ended, but also the 20^th anniversary of the long-running CW series. The show remains a favorite to this day, especially for those with a Netflix subscription. The cast still remains close, too, and their upcoming reunion on The Boys is proof of that. But would Supernatural ever make a return in the form of a revival? Fans have been wanting an R-rated streaming reboot, and now, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have shared their thoughts on the matter.

Supernatural’s finale left fans divided, both with how the story ended and who was or wasn’t included. But that isn’t stopping people from still hoping that the show would come back in some way, shape, or form, and they aren’t the only ones. Over a year ago, Padalecki explained how he would want the series to come back, and his answer hasn’t changed while chatting with TV Insider about SPN’s anniversary:

Considering Supernatural ran for 15 seasons and very likely could have gone another 15 had the boys not decided that it was time to say goodbye, it makes sense that another full-blown show wouldn’t be on the table. A limited series gives fans just enough to see what the Winchesters are up to and what happened following the finale, either taking the show to Heaven or to a parallel universe, like on The Winchesters.

As for what kind of format the show would get, Ackles has some ideas, and it involves a much grittier and R-rated version. There’s only so much that can be included on a network television show. And Supernatural would be epic if it could go even harder, and if the “Ghostfacers” episode from Season 3 is any indication, I think Sam and Dean would love to take advantage of being able to swear. Not only that, but the tone would be drastically different, as the Dean actor explained:

Now, I'd sure love to see that. However, it’s unknown if a revival will ever happen.

It's not out of the question, though, considering these guys' enthusiasm and the number of reboots and spinoffs on TV right now. In fact, Criminal Minds: Evolution has been flourishing on Paramount+ with its NSFW change and darker narratives while still being the Criminal Minds fans know and love. Plus, the Supernatural fandom doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, so it’s always possible a revival will happen in the future.

At the very least, as previously mentioned, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will be joining Jensen Ackles on the fifth and final season of The Boys. This means that fans will be able to see them in a more NSFW setting, and it will probably be the complete opposite of Supernatural, but still as entertaining as ever. Filming has completed on The Boys, so it’s only just a matter of time before it eventually premieres with an Amazon Prime subscription.

In the meantime, I'll be thinking about what could happen on this R-rated version of Supernatural.

The Boys has completed filming its fifth and final season, meaning that it'll be streaming Amazon Prime subscription sooner rather than later, even if it'll miss the 2025 TV schedule. Without much known about Season 5, much of the hype has circled around the much-anticipated Supernatural reunion bringing Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins back together on-screen for the first time since SPN’s finale in 2020. Ackles opened up about how weird it was working with his former co-stars again for the raunchy superhero series, and as a fan of both, I agree.

While it’s been confirmed that Padalecki and Collins will be appearing in the final season of The Boys alongside Ackles, who will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, details surrounding their characters have been kept under wraps. Creator Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural, previously admitted what it was like seeing the reunion, and Ackles has even shared that it was like being home.

That being said, The Boys is not akin to Supernatural by any means, and not just because of the tonal nature of the shows are so vastly different. Ackles told People what it was like having Padalecki and Collins on set of The Boys, and I can definitely see where he’s coming from:

Considering Ackles is no stranger to The Boys, unlike Padalecki and Collins, it makes sense why he would feel that way, especially knowing they can get into it. It’s even more pressure knowing that this is the first time they’ve acted together on-screen since 2020. But that’s what makes it exciting, even if it was weird for Ackles’ “house” to be invaded. He did direct an episode of Walker and guest starred, so now he knows how Padalecki felt.

Even though it’s unknown in what capacity Padalecki and Collins will be appearing in on The Boys, it can be assumed that they will have at least one or two scenes with Ackles. Fans can also probably expect a reference or two to Supernatural, and maybe even the opportunity to retcon the divisive series finale. Whatever happens, though, it will be nice to see the three of them together again. Although they frequently reunite at fan conventions, acting together is different.

More information about The Boys’ final season should be announced soon, but the wait will be worth it with the Supernatural reunion. There’s also no telling what else the new season will consist of and how this crazy story will wrap up. Luckily, with a new season of Gen V premiering soon and Ackles’ new prequel series Vought Rising releasing in the near future, there will be a lot more to look forward to.

Usually, holding a job at a particular company for a long time comes with lots of great benefits, and the same can be true for actors who have an extended stint on a popular TV show. While the stars of The Boys are ending their time on the no-so-heroic superhero series with their fifth and final season, the 2025 TV schedule brought fans word of that upcoming season giving us a big Supernatural cast reunion as Jensen Ackles will be joined by Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins when the hit returns next year. But, the Soldier Boy actor just revealed that there was some “concern” about getting the old gang back together.

What Did Jensen Ackles Say About Concerns Over The Boys’ Supernatural Reunion?

It’s not everyday that television lovers can celebrate a series lasting for a full 15 seasons, but audiences made sure that The CW’s Supernatural fulfilled its promise across a decade and a half of frights, fights, and things that go bump in the night. The spooky drama about two brothers who hunt monsters wrapped its run in 2020 with a hotly debated series finale, but long-time co-stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki (who portrayed the siblings in question), and Misha Collins (their angel ally, Castiel) have remained buddies.

The Boys Season 3 cast saw Ackles join the fray as the Captain America parody, Soldier Boy, and it was confirmed back in late February that the trio of Supernatural talent is reuniting for the anticipated final season. As the erstwhile Dean Winchester recently said during an appearance on The Tonight Show, when taken at face value, this simply seemed like a great idea:

If you’re unaware, it’s possible that Supernatural fans are more dedicated than any other fan group, to the point where they call themselves the “SPN Family” and are truly considered a found family by the stars of the long-running show, who formed their own family behind the scenes. However, there was some question about whether or not the actors could come back together and, you know, act right while on set. As he continued:

Right. So, here’s the thing about becoming friends with the people you work with: sometimes, things can get kinda wild. Because you’re buddies who know each other well and hang out away from the job, once you are at work with each other, the situation might get a teensy bit…inappropriate is a strong word, but you could easily find yourselves having a “blast” and joking around in a way that isn’t seen as being super-profesh. It appears that this was considered a potential issue here, especially because The Boys isn’t their territory in the same way Supernatural was after 15 years. Ackles added:

Yeah, while the star admitted that working with his two friends again felt like “being home,” no one wants it to feel like home so much that folks are leaving the toilets unflushed. Listen, I’m sure that Jared Padalecki is a lovely man who would never actually dare to leave an unflushed toilet behind. But, if his currently undisclosed character is that kind of trash goblin, well, he’ll totally fit right in!

It’s been over four years since Supernatural aired its series finale, and I've missed seeing Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins together. Thankfully, all three will reunite for the final season of The Boys. Of course, Eric Kripke, who created the long-running CW show, currently serves as showrunner on the over-the-top superheroes series (which is streamable with an Amazon Prime subscription). With that, he opened up about seeing all three of the aforementioned actors working together again, and I love hearing his comments.

When it was announced that Padalecki and Collins would join Ackles (who plays Soldier Boy) for the fifth and final series of the hit Prime Video show, there was plenty of excitement amongst fans. It's currently unclear just who Collins and Padalecki are playing and how they'll fit into the story. At the very least, when Kripke spoke to TV Insider, he made a keen confirmation that should delight fans:

The mere thought of seeing Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins on screen together again is both surreal and exciting. It may be a little jarring, however, given they won't be playing Dean, Sam and Castiel. That being said, I'll take a reunion however I can get it! Plus, there was another alum from the dark fantasy series that joined in this collaboration -- frequent Supernatural director Phil Sgriccia. What Kripke goes on to describe in his interview is a meetup that sounds so nostalgic, and I wish I could've been a fly (or a fly-sized Supe) on the wall:

Can you imagine the stories that were probably told when all five of those men were back together again? Given how much history they have, I'm sure there was a lot to talk about. The fact that they've remained close speaks volumes to their shared kinship, and the excitement swirling around their reunion is a testament to the love from the franchise's devotees. (Cast member Mark Sheppard holds a lot of appreciation for those admirers.) While there are still details about how the trio of stars' on-screen reunion, I'm ready to see how it all plays out.

Aside from the Supernatural aspect of it all, there are still plenty of general variables to consider in regard to how The Boys will wrap up. Some may be sad to see the raunchy and gory show end its run, but even cast member Jack Quaid believes now is the time for the series to conclude.

I certainly can't promise I won't get in my feels when seeing Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins together again. And, considering the unpredictable nature of The Boys, it's hard to say what it'll look like. I'm just hopeful that when the season finally airs, the actors' big moment(s) will be just as fun to watch as it was for them to work on the show with Eric Kripke and co.

Supernatural may have ended more than four years ago, but the series creator has a big treat in store for fans who have not yet forgotten the adventures of the Winchesters and their extended family. It's not a revival of the original show or even the return of The Winchesters; prepare instead to see the big three from the Supernatural days on The Boys. Jensen Ackles already had the role of Soldier Boy that he can reprise for The Boys Season 5; now he'll be joined by fellow Supernatural alums Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins to possibly address a lingering finale issue.

How The Three Stars Are Coming To The Same Show

It's not a huge surprise that Padalecki at least is going to show up after previous comments by Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural for The WB (which would become The CW) years before developing The Boys for Prime Video. Misha Collins is more of a surprise, and his inclusion is what reminded me of my lingering issue with how Supernatural ended. But before we get into that, take a look at the announcement video and note the iconic Supernatural quote:

"We got work to do" is a line from the end of both Supernatural's 2005 pilot episode as well as the Season 15 premiere in 2019, and any fan worth their rock salt surely caught it. While it may be some time before news breaks of who Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki will play, and even though it's possible that the three actors won't even share scenes, there's an incredibly basic way that this could make up for what I still see as a shortcoming of Supernatural's last episode.

The Supernatural finale was divisive for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the very unceremonious death of Dean Winchester, played by Ackles. I've gone back and forth over the years on how I feel about how he was killed off, and the only two things that I haven't really changed my mind about at all are 1) Jared Padalecki's transformation into old man Sam for the flash-forwards was a little bit goofy and 2) Misha Collins should have been there as Castiel.

Cuts had to be made due to COVID production complications, so the finale would have likely included more Supernatural alums before the end if it was possible to do safely, but it still stings that Cas' last appearance on Supernatural was sacrificing himself to misery after finally doing the one thing that would make him truly happy.

Why The Boys Is Already A Funny Option For A Reunion

Will Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins be playing the Winchester brothers and the angel on The Boys? Of course not. For one thing, Ackles is already Soldier Boy, and plenty of Supernatural vets have already appeared on the Prime Video show without hugely meta nods to old CW series. But as a TV enthusiast and an entertainment journalist, I've witnessed the rise and fall of many fandoms, and I don't think there's any fandom quite as dedicated as Supernatural viewers when it comes to taking canon, seeing it, and then choosing what to do with it. (It's also a valuable approach to The X-Files, in my experience.)

Certainly no show I've seen approaches meta episodes the way Supernatural did, to the point that the 200th episode – called "Fan Fiction" – was literally about an in-universe musical based on an in-universe book series all about the Winchesters, complete with jokes about ship names, subtext, the Samulet, and the fact that Sam and Dean kind of forgot about their half-brother Adam down in Hell for a long time.

All of which is to say that I have full faith that Supernatural fans can watch The Boys with Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins all presumably playing different characters, and make it both funny and somehow tied to Sam, Dean, and Cas. Why not an alternate universe, a la "The French Mistake" episode that featured Sam and Dean inserted into the lives of Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles through angelic shenanigans? Not only is The Boys a hilarious option as the show to bring the three back together after we didn't get one last Supernatural of them as a trio, but I can't wait to see how Supernatural fans react to it.

The first four seasons of The Boys, including every episode with Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, are streaming with a Prime Video subscription, with Supernatural streaming via a Netflix subscription. Since Season 5 likely won't debut on Amazon until 2026, those are solid enough options to pass the time.

Supernatural fans, if you’re not into The Boys, now might be a good time to catch up with your Amazon Prime subscription. Following Jensen Ackles being established as Captain America parody character Soldier Boy when he joined The Boys Season 3 cast, he’ll be bringing along his Supernatural boys with him for the fifth and final season, which is currently in production. Ackles made the announcement with his former Supernatural co-stars, and it’s too good.

The Boys Instagram account caught Supernatural fans off guard when a video was posted of Jensen Ackles telling Jared Padelecki they have “work to do”. Check it out:

Jared Padelecki sweetly answers Ackles’ call in the video by saying he’s gotta “tell Misha,” as in Misha Collins, a.k.a. Castiel. Collins ends the post in the best way possible by answering and asking “What are we doing?” before The Boys logo pops up. It’s the best tease you could give to confirm that the entire trio from Supernatural will all reunite in the final season of The Boys. And the Instagram reactions were so on point. Check it:

If you’ve been following The Boys closely, you might not be too surprised. The show was developed by Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural. Considering he worked with Ackles and Padalecki in particular for many years on the CW series, they must be basically family. And after Ackles was cast as Soldier Boy, he talked about getting Padalecki on board.

Fans of Supernatural are literally getting the best of both worlds now that both Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will be coming as a package deal for the last season of The Boys. Now, we don’t know who they are playing, but per Entertainment Weekly, their roles will be in a guest star capacity. Considering the Supernatural creator is behind the reunion, we expect some cheeky, clever nod to their beloved first TV show together.

Following the events of Season 4, where Soldier Boy came back, Supernatural fans must of course be hoping that the three actors have entangled plotlines. As announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year, Soldier Boy is also getting his own spinoff, so is it possible the boys could be coming by to set up another show of their own? Can you imagine? The Supernatural fandom would break in the best way possible.

We don’t know when The Boys is coming back for its last season, but our best guess is in 2026. After this news, it can’t come close enough.

Gilmore Girls was not just a hit that ran for seven seasons in the early 2000s, but a show that’s still beloved by fans to the point where a sequel miniseries was made in 2016 (which you can watch with your Netflix subscription), nine years after the original finale. It’s also one of the most rewatchable shows ever that gives fans a nostalgic experience, but if you’ve recently completed a binge of the family dramedy, then it’s good that we have a list for you of 32 movies and shows that feature the Gilmore Girls cast. Supernatural (2005-2020)

Sure, this list could have started anywhere, but why not start with the portrayer of (mostly) sweet Dean, Jared Padalecki? His supporting role on Gilmore Girls couldn’t have prepared fans for his hugely successful run as the creature-of-the-night hunting Sam Winchester on Supernatural. The series ran for 15 seasons and has tons of amazing episodes, especially if you enjoy spooky stuff.

How To Get Away With Murder (2014-2020)

Overall, most of the players from GG saw a boost in their careers after the show, and likely helped make it possible for Liza Weil, who played the ever-stressed Paris Geller, to eventually make her way to a major role on the thrilling ABC hit, How to Get Away with Murder.

The O.C. (2003-2007)

Is bringing up Fox’s early aughts mega-hit teen drama The O.C. this quickly a bit of a cheat? Sure, but we can’t deny that without the popularity of his Dave Rygalski in Season 3, we might never have gotten actor Adam Brody as the funny, loyal, Summer-obsessed Seth Cohen in one of the defining teen shows of all time.

The Handmaid’s Tale (2017-2021)

Much like viewers were probably not prepared to watch Padalecki fight monsters after his time on Gilmore Girls, I doubt most could have expected to see star Alexis Bledel take on Dr. Emily Malek, the strong-willed and rebellious Handmaid first known as Ofglen. She won an Emmy Award for her role, so this is one drama not to miss.

Parenthood (2010-2015)

There might be no character more strong-willed, funny and quirky than Lorelei Gilmore, who was brought to life so exceptionally by Lauren Graham. If that character description sounds a lot like Sarah Braverman-Holt from NBC’s family drama, Parenthood, then you get why Graham was a perfect fit for both.

Bride & Prejudice (2004)

A small role is a role nonetheless, and if you check out the amazing Jane Austen-inspired rom-com, Bride & Prejudice, you’ll see Bledel as Georgie Darcy, Will’s younger sister.

The Good Wife (2009-2016)

Say what you will about being Team Logan, but the Huntzberger boy still has his supporters even today. This is probably because Matt Czuchry did such a good job portraying him, much like he did the charming go-getter Cary Agos on CBS’ legal drama, The Good Wife.

Fire Country (2024)

As one of the biggest dramas on CBS, Fire Country is hard to miss and even harder to dislike. That’s why it’s the perfect show to check out to see Jared Padalecki as the still-grieving firefighter Camden Casey during Season 3.

Saw IV (2007)

Honestly, were you expecting to see something as horrific as Saw IV on this list? Well, you might be even more surprised to know that Scott Patterson, who played Luke Danes, appeared in a total of three Saw films as determined FBI agent Peter Strahm.

Bridesmaids (2011)

For the first time on this list, we get to Melissa McCarthy, who played beloved chef Sookie St. James. She was in several projects after Gilmore Girls ended, but the comedy hit Bridesmaids, where she played the loyal but crude and somewhat erratic Megan, launched her career into the stratosphere. She received an Oscar nomination for her work, so it’s not to be missed.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (2020-2021)

The jukebox musical dramedy series, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, was a treat, but if you missed its two seasons on NBC, know that Lauren Graham played a major role in Season 1 as Zoey’s strict boss, Joan.

The Cleaning Lady (2022-Now)

Any show about gangsters needs a good cop investigating and trying to bring them down, and Liza Weil has starred as confident and cunning FBI agent Katherine Russo on The Cleaning Lady for the thriller’s entire run so far.

The Heat (2013)

Need a wild action comedy about two mismatched officers (one a prim, by-the-book FBI agent, and the other a crass, quick-to-anger, by-any-means-necessary local cop) who have to get along enough to get a drug lord off the streets? The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (2021-2022)

This follow-up to The Mighty Ducks film franchise hit Disney+ and brought GG fans more of Lauren Graham, as she starred as Alex Morrow, who forms and then coaches a new underdog hockey team after her son is cut by the Ducks.

The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (2005)

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a two-film franchise that still means a lot to those who were young women at the time it was released. There’s no better time than now to revisit (or watch for the first time) Alexis Bledel as Lena in both films.

An Unmarried Woman (1978)

Here’s a throwback for you. The 1978 romantic comedy-drama, An Unmarried Woman, features a performance from none other than Emily Gilmore herself, Kelly Bishop, as Elaine, a good friend of the title character.

The Lost Boys (1987)

Alright, this one’s technically a throwback, too, it just doesn’t go back quite as far. But, The Lost Boys is a definite teen horror classic, along with talents like Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Feldman, stars Richard Gilmore actor, Edward Hermann, in an important role.

Prodigal Son (2019-2021)

This Fox crime drama may not have lasted long, but it certainly had a dedicated fanbase, and some of that was likely because of Keiko Agena’s work as the kind, trusting, and socially awkward medical examiner, Dr. Edrisa Tanaka.

Sullivan’s Crossing (2023-2024)

The family drama, Sullivan’s Crossing, came to The CW with a treat for Gilmore Girls fans, as it brought Scott Patterson back to the network as the estranged father, Sully, of the lead character, big city neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, who returns to her small Nova Scotia town after a scandal.

Mike & Molly (2010-2016)

The long-running comedy Mike & Molly is another of Melissa McCarthy’s post-GG projects. This CBS hit saw the titular couple fall in love after a health-related meet-cute, and work on their relationship while attempting to deal with their often wacky families and friends, and life’s many ups and downs. Check it out for McCarthy’s Emmy-winning performance.

Sin City (2005)

Based on the comic book series of the same name, Sin City is a noirish, action-filled crime drama that just so happens to feature Alexis Bledel as a…well, not entirely trustworthy participant in the rampant criminal shenanigans that abound in the sinful city of the title.

The John Larroquette Show (1993-1996)

One of the very few series to take place in St. Louis, Missouri, The John Larroquette Show was a sitcom that saw the actor portray the night manager of a run-down downtown bus station, with Liz Torres, who played the bubbly and gossipy dance teacher Miss Patty on Gilmore Girls, as his secretary. Torres received two Emmy nominations for her work here, so it’s definitely worth a watch.

The Resident (2018-2023)

Considering the number of medical shows that tend to fill the airwaves, it’s a bit of a surprise that it’s taken this long to get to one, but it is a pretty fine one. The Resident stars Matt Czuchry as the conceited (but still somehow charming) Dr. Conrad Hawkins, a third-year resident who practices with unconventional techniques and a knowledge of the business of medicine who’s determined to stop younger residents from putting their chosen profession on a pedestal.

All In The Family (1971-1978)

If you haven’t yet watched the classic ‘70s sitcom, All In the Family, you’re missing out. Not only does the Norman Lear series use its humor to tackle a number of hot-button issues that are still very relevant for today’s audiences, but it also features Sally Struthers (she was Lorelei and Rory’s nosy neighbor in Stars Hollow, Babette) in her Emmy-winning role as Gloria, the somewhat childish, college-aged daughter of Archie and Edith Bunker.

Walker (2021-2024)

After his immensely successful run on Supernatural, Jared Padalecki moved right on to yet another show on The CW. This one, Walker, was a reimagining of the long-running Chuck Norris hit Walker, Texas Ranger, which saw Padalecki take on the lead role as he returned home after being undercover for two years while trying to reconnect with his teenage children and figure out how his wife really died.

True Blood (2008-2014)

Here’s one that’s easy to miss, even if you’re a die-hard Gilmore Girls fan. Among the many characters, human and supernatural, who populated the HBO vampire series True Blood for seven seasons, you see plenty of Merlotte's Bar & Grill short order cook, the kind but troubled Terry Bellefleur. But, did you know that he’s portrayed by Todd Lowe, the same guy who brought us Hep Alien’s dim, womanizing, guitar-playing, lead-singing wanna-be rock star Zack Van Gerbig? Well, now you do!

Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018)

Melissa MacCarthy was able to hit the Academy Awards red carpet as a nominee again when she starred in the biographical film Can You Ever Forgive Me? As writer Lee Israel. It’s based on Israel’s memoir of the same name, where she talks about her attempt to revive her writing career by forging letters from deceased celebrities and selling them. This critically acclaimed drama is one not to miss.

Spy (2015)

Last, but not least, we have another of Melissa McCarthy’s winning comedies in Spy. The movie follows CIA employee Susan Cooper, who is only allowed to assist her James Bond-esque partner via a desk job at the home office and an earpiece. But, when an operation goes wrong and leads to her partner’s death, Susan volunteers to go into the field and get to the bottom of things. Seeing as how this is a McCarthy film, you can bet that the situation gets hilariously out of hand before all is said and done, and you’ll be better for it!

As you can clearly see, while Gilmore Girls has been off the air for nearly 20 years, not only has it not been forgotten, but its stars have continued to keep us entertained in a number of other TV shows and movies, and hopefully will for many years to come!

So, here’s the thing, I loved Jared Padalecki’s arc on Fire Country, and I’ve been thrilled about the rumors that he might get to lead his own spinoff of the CBS drama. However, we know Camden Casey won’t be back during Season 3, and we’ve heard no updates about his potential new show. Now, the Supernatural alum is developing a new medical drama with Walker’s showrunner, and I have conflicted feelings because it sounds like a program I’d also want to tune into.

This New Show Jared Padalecki Is Working On Sounds Awesome

As we wait for CBS’s lineup to return on the 2025 TV schedule, the wheels are already spinning in terms of planning new shows that will premiere down the line. According to TV Line, Jared Padalecki is working on one of those, as he is set to re-team with Walker’s showrunner, Anna Fricke, for a new medical drama.

Per the report, the series is in the works at CBS, and it would be a medical procedural set in rural Texas, which makes sense considering Padalecki’s Texas roots as well as both his and Fricke’s Walker background. Honestly, based on the official logline, this show sounds pretty awesome as it would follow a:

Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a fun series to me! Not only is the premise really interesting – I mean, an unconventional doctor working with another doctor with a secret, sign me up – but, the reunion of Padalecki and Fricke is exciting too.

Anna Fricke was the showrunner on Walker from day one, and she and Padalecki both also worked on its spinoff, Walker: Independence. They collaborated for years on those two shows – as the flagship series ran from 2021 to 2024 – and I’m excited about the prospect of them doing another program together.

So, all of that put together makes for a project that I'm already anticipating. However, it has me wondering about the other prospective series Padalecki was possibly going to lead, his Fire Country spinoff.

However, What Will This Mean For His Rumored Fire Country Show?

At the moment, there’s no confirmation about if the Gilmore Girls actor will lead his own spinoff of Max Thieriot's series. Also, as TV Line pointed out, before his show could even get off the ground, Morena Baccarin’s spinoff, Sheriff Country, has to premiere first, and that show is slated for the 2025-2026 season. So, I can see why he’s moving on with another series.

However, this all makes me a tad disappointed, because I really dug his Fire Country character. I was so curious about his backstory, and I thought it’d be fascinating to see how fighting fires in SoCal differs from the work Station 42 does in Northern California. Plus, I could feel that care was put into the part too on both sides, as both Max Thieriot and showrunner Tia Napolitano told me that Camden was written specifically for Padalecki and he brought so much to the role as well. By leading another show, the idea of him playing Camden in a bigger way seems to diminish a bit, and it makes me think we might not get to learn about his background and life outside of Edgewater.

On the bright side, both the actor’s new procedural as well as his future with Cal Fire are up in the air. His new show was only just announced, and it does not have a title yet. Meanwhile, his Fire Country spinoff is not confirmed. So, there’s still a lot to learn, and maybe, somehow, they can make it all work, because I’d like to see both shows.

At the very least, I hope Jared Padalecki returns to Fire Country as a guest star while he works on this other CBS show. That way, we can have the best of both worlds in a realistic way. But in the meantime, while we wait for more updates, you can go back and watch his three-episode arc on Fire Country with a Paramount+ subscription.

Last summer, it was announced that Jared Padalecki was joining Season 3 of Fire Country, and it was a massive deal! To this day, he’s one of the biggest names to join the cast of the CBS drama, and his character Camden has the potential to spin off into his own show. Now, I’ve been wondering if the Supernatural star will return during the second half of the fire procedural’s junior season, and showrunner Tia Napolitano has opened up about the actor’s future on the show.

Now, take a deep breath folks, and prepare for the not-ideal answer. During an interview with TV Insider, Tia Napolitano confirmed that Jared Padalecki will not return as Camden this season. So, as Fire Country Season 3 finishes out its run on the 2025 TV schedule, we’ll be without the new captain, as the showrunner explained:

Sigh…so no more Casey Camden this season. That’s a bummer too, because I really dug the conflict between him and Bode that led to both of them growing. Plus, I really want to know more about the captain, the loved ones he lost on the job and his life in SoCal.

I’m also slightly disappointed about this because I know Max Thieriot and Padalecki are pals in real life, and the role of Camden was written specifically for the Walker star. So, there’s a personal connection there. The character was created specifically for this actor, and I thought he was great in the role during his three-episode arc on Fire Country.

However, while it’s not ideal that he won’t be back during Season 3, that does not mean he’s gone for good. In fact, he probably isn’t. Like Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey, a spinoff could be in sight for Padalecki and his firefighter Camden.

So cross your fingers and knock on wood that all this happens.

I adored Camden’s little arc in this season of Fire Country. He brought a totally new vibe to the show, he helped Bode’s story as a free man advance, and it introduced us to a super interesting and complicated character. So, here’s hoping that his spinoff gets confirmed or this SoCal firefighter returns in the early episodes of Season 4 (if it gets renewed), because I’d like to see him back sooner rather than later.

Something is brewing in Edgewater, and I’m not quite sure how to feel about it. I’m of course referring to the final seconds of Episode 6 after Bode broke it off with Gabriela, and she ended up at the bar making eye contact with Camden. Immediately theories about what could happen next between Stephanie Arcila and Jared Padalecki’s Fire Country characters of both the toxic and healthy variety started popping into my mind. So, before the next episode airs on the 2024 TV schedule, I need to break them down.

The way I see it, those final seconds where Gabriela throws back a shot and acknowledges Camden’s presence could go in two directions. One is a path of destruction if they decide to get together. Another is a possibly healthy route as they both maybe help each other heal. So, let’s discuss the possibilities and what it could mean for these characters.

Maybe, Camden And Gabriela Will Have A Short Fling

So, the episode ends with Bode breaking things off with Gabriela. He rightfully, I think, said he couldn’t wait around for her, and that she needed to focus on healing herself. Then, she burst into the bar and got a shot of tequila. As she threw it back, she looked over to see Camden Casey sitting there.

The look they share wasn’t flirtatious, I don’t think. However, both characters are not in the best headspace and are known for making impulsive choices. Since Camden was called out this episode and Gabriela was too, I think they’re both in fragile places.

Maybe, they’ll act on those emotions by sleeping together after getting drunk at the bar. That’s not exactly unusual on shows like this, so I could see it happening. Plus, Gabriela has been emotionally all over the place this season and acting out of character (understandably, she’s been through a lot). So, maybe she’ll strike up a relationship here. Max Thieriot did say that there could be “conflict” between Camden and Bode, and this could for sure cause that…

However, that obviously would not be a great move, seeing as Camden is her ex’s boss and the firefighter from SoCal won’t be around for long (seeing as Padalecki is a guest star with the potential to lead his own Fire Country spinoff later).

Honestly, I don’t want to see this happen. However, there’s no denying it would make for good drama. But, as I think more about this, there’s a healthier path for these characters to walk down together, and I’m hoping it’s the one they take.

Or, It’s Possible Gabriela And Camden Could Help Each Other Heal

Personally, I’m really hoping we take the path of growth and healing here.

While this episode ended in a dark place, for Gabriela specifically, I don’t see why she and Camden couldn’t help each other. In this episode, we learned more about the captain losing his crew and the conflict his sporadic behavior can cause. Meanwhile, Gabriela was pulling herself away more and shutting herself off, causing her breakup with Bode.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see these two get out of their ruts together? Maybe Gabriela can help Camden find a middle ground between harnessing his spontaneity and knowing when to listen to others. Meanwhile, he can possibly help her reconnect with her dad and Bode.

In short, they both need to take care of themselves, and I think that final scene presents a situation where they could help each other do just that.

However, who knows how it will go down exactly…So, to find out if we take the toxic or healthy route, be sure to tune into the next episode of Fire Country when it airs on Friday, December 6 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

When it was announced that Jared Padalecki was joining Fire Country for a handful of episodes on the 2024 TV schedule, I was thrilled. That’s a big name to bring in, and I expected a big character from him too. And that’s what we got. Now, we’ve met Camden Casey, there’s potential for a spinoff with him, and after hearing Max Thieriot talk about what the Supernatural actor brought to his character, it’s getting me excited about what could come next in the SoCal firefighter’s story.

Camden was introduced in episode 5 of Fire Country’s third season, and it was quickly established that he and Bode have a lot in common. They’re both spontaneous and impulsive, and Camden is trying to teach the cadet how to harness that energy for good. To that point, Thieriot told me that that “lone wolf” energy is something Padalecki brought to the character, as he explained:

Now, knowing that Camden was written for Jared Padalecki and he brought so much into the part, it makes me very excited about his potential Fire Country spinoff.

In Camden’s first episode, we learn that he has a dark past. He lost his team during an incident, and that has clearly traumatized him. However, he’s also seemingly carefree and waltzes around in flip-flops. So, there are layers to unpack here.

It sounds like Padalecki has unpacked it too, as Thieriot told me:

I love hearing that so much thought went into this. Plus, knowing that Padalecki and Thieriot are really good friends makes it even better. Overall, it makes me very excited to see what’s coming for Camden, because it’s clear that the actor playing him cares.

Learning about this backstory and how he got his lone-wolf mentality is something I’d love to explore more in a potential spinoff.

And we know that that’s a possible outcome for the Walker star. When his casting was announced, it was also revealed that he could get a spinoff. I love the idea of a Fire Country series traveling to Southern California and giving us the chance to learn more about Camden.

As Thieriot said, his friend and co-star added a lot to his part. So, hopefully, we’ll get to see more of him outside of Edgewater. If more news comes out about Jared Padalecki’s character and his future in this franchise, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. The day on the 2024 TV schedule all of us Fire Country fans had been waiting for finally arrived. By that I mean, Jared Padalecki made his entrance on the CBS drama as Captain Camden Casey, and boy did he do it with a bang! So, when I had the chance to chat with the show’s co-creator and star, Max Thieriot, about his friend and new co-star’s big first scene, he told me the epic story behind filming it.

While speaking to the Bode Leone actor during an interview for CinemaBlend, I specifically asked him about Padalecki’s first scene. It’s an epic entrance that shows his character Camden in flip-flops and a Dodgers jersey (a bold choice, considering he’s in Northern California, now). Ultimately, he winds up in a fight with some guys who were trying to provoke Bode, and it quickly shows fans this new captain’s colors. That was the goal too, as Thieriot told me:

The SEAL Team actor went on to explain that they wanted the juxtaposition between firefighters from Northern and Southern California to be evident immediately. He told me he was excited to see it, as he said it’s a whole different vibe, because “it’s like flip-flops and tank tops” in SoCal rather than the “Wrangler jeans and Ben Davis shirts” we see more often on Fire Country.

Continuing to chat about all this, Thieriot said that this scene helped show how big an organization Cal Fire is, while also giving us a memorable introduction to Padalecki’s character:

After that, the actor broke down what it was like watching his friend perform in the fight scene. Considering Jared Padalecki spent 15 years on Supernatural and another four seasons on Walker, we know the guy is no stranger to a bit of action. However, that didn’t dim how impressive it was for the Fire Country cast to watch, as Max Thieriot explained:

Considering Thieriot and Padalecki are also friends, I imagine seeing his pal in his element was epic. As a fan, it was certainly thrilling to watch. Plus, it gave us a clear picture of who Camden Casey is.

Like Bode, Camden is a loose canon who is also wickedly intelligent, as proven by his use of salt and pepper in the fight scene. Padalecki brings a new flavor to Fire Country, though, that could shake things up in good and bad ways, especially for Bode, and I can’t wait to see it!

Luckily, we won’t have to wait long for that, because Jared Padalecki will be back on Fire Country as it continues to air on CBS every Friday at 9 p.m. ET. Plus, if you want to go back and watch this fun and epic scene again, you can stream every episode of the drama on Paramount+.

The day is almost here! Jared Padalecki’s Fire Country debut is happening during this week’s episode, and I can’t wait to see him as Phase 3 instructor Captain Camden Casey. However, before we see his SoCal firefighter on screen, the show’s lead and co-creator, Max Thieriot, is previewing the impact the Supernatural actor will have on Fire Country’s third season. I have to say, I’m very intrigued by his comments too, specifically the ones regarding “conflict.”

When Padalecki’s character was announced, Thieriot and showrunner Tia Napolitano told CinemaBlend that Camden was written for him, and they teased that he’s bringing a new energy to the show. Then, while speaking with TV Insider, the Bode actor revealed that this new captain will encourage his character to work in a way that is typically discouraged. Elaborating on that idea, he said the following about the Phase 3 instructor:

This tracks. So, far, in the episodes from Season 3 that have aired on the 2024 TV schedule we’ve seen many characters, but specifically Jake, try to get Bode to not act on his impulsive instincts so much. With Camden trying to do the opposite – he’s trying to get Bode to harness his instincts – it might create conflict between Padalecki’s new guy and those closest to Bode.

However, what really intrigued me was Thieriot’s comments about how this new dynamic might feature som of its own conflict too, as he explained:

Since the announcement that the Gilmore Girls actor was joining the show as a character who saw potential in Bode, I’ve always figured they’d have a mentor/mentee relationship. I didn’t really consider the conflict they could have. Maybe, Bode has changed a bit, and he sees the value in stopping himself from acting on impulse. Or maybe, he’ll get into a situation with Camden that proves that Jake and his parents are right in some cases.

Overall, I’m just super curious about how these two will butt heads, and I can’t wait to see it play out on screen. That’s partially the case because I’m excited about this little Fire Country arc. However, I’m also interested in how this relationship between Bode and Camden could impact what’s coming down the line for the Walker actor.

Like the now-greenlit spinoff Sheriff Country, there’s potential for Jared Padalecki to lead his own series within the Fire Country universe. So, I’m excited to see how it connects back to Bode’s story as well as how Camden’s time in Bode’s life impacts him moving forward.

While Season 3 of Fire Country simply premiering is exciting, what makes this season even more thrilling is the fact that Jared Padalecki is joining Max Thieriot’s fire drama! Now, as the anticipation for his guest appearance heightens, the show’s lead and showrunner Tia Napolitano shared the wholesome story behind how they got the Supernatural star to join CBS’ hit drama.

As we approach Fire Country’s premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, I spoke with Thieriot and Napolitano about what’s in store for Season 3. Obviously, that meant I had to ask about the news regarding Padalecki that broke over the summer. In response, the Bode actor told me during our interview for CinmeaBlend that this all stemmed out of the sweet fact that he’s really good friends with the Walker actor:

The actor then said that his friend has always been on long-running shows, which has made it hard for them to collaborate. However, while Walker landing on 2024’s list of canceled shows was by no means ideal, it did open a new door for the pals, as Thieriot said:

Well, everybody thought it was a great idea, and as Thieriot explained, casting him felt like “a no-brainer.” Showrunner Tia Napolitano confirmed that for me during our interview ahead of the premiere as well. She explained that the enthusiasm surrounding bringing the Gilmore Girls actor on was palpable, and they couldn’t wait to have him:

From there it simply took a few conversations, Thieriot recalled, and then Padalecki was on the show.

Notably, this role also wasn’t pre-written before the Walker actor signed on, it was created specifically for him. So, it was imperative that he said yes, as the showrunner told me:

From the jump, I would have felt the same way considering how beloved Padalecki is in the world of television. However, learning more about his character Camden and knowing there’s potential for him to lead a Fire Country spinoff makes his part even more exhilarating.

To that point, the Bode actor explained that his friend’s character is a thrilling addition, because he’ll show off a totally different side of Cal Fire. Camden is a firefighter from Southern California, and as Thieriot said, in his world the “Wranglers and boots” are traded for “flip flops and tank tops.” So, he’ll bring a new fun energy to the show, and the SEAL Team actor’s words about that have me very excited:

Overall, there’s no question that Jared Padalecki is a massive addition to Fire Country, and this wholesome story about how he got cast has me smiling from ear to ear. Knowing that he’s really good friends with the drama’s co-creator and star means he’s also probably thrilled to be playing Camden. Plus, it sounds like the opportunities for where his story could go are endless.

At the moment, we don’t know exactly when Jared Padalecki will appear in Season 3, however, as we learn more about his role, we’ll keep you posted. SPOILER WARNING: The following article gives away the entire story of 2005’s House of Wax so if you have not yet seen it and want to keep the film’s surprises preserved, proceed with caution before you read on.

I remember, in 2005, being just on the cusp of my ongoing obsession with the horror genre but having very little interest in seeing that year’s reimagining of 1953’s Vincent Price-led classic, House of Wax. This was mainly because I was not a fan of House of Wax cast member Paris Hilton, but the film’s pretty rude marketing strategy to promote the reality TV star’s death scene convinced me to give it a shot. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Granted, I was about 12 years old when I first saw Jaume Collet-Serra’s directorial debut from Dark Castle Entertainment about a group of friends who discover a wax museum with a shocking secret behind its realistic sculptures. However, after watching it a second time as a 30-year-old, I still think it is one of the best horror movies from an era that saw the genre at a pretty low point and believe even our own House of Wax review judges its admittedly simple plot too harshly, ignoring its more entertaining and even unsettling elements. Well, I will proudly be the one to defend what I think is a horror movie remake that does not suck with the following points.

The Twin Theme Lends To Some Amusing Storytelling

Out of our obligatory crew of young, doomed road-trippers, House of Wax places the most focus on Carly (Elisha Cuthbert) and her twin brother, Nick (One Tree Hill cast member Chad Michael Murray), who point out that their parents labeled her as the good twin and him as the “evil” one. This rivalrous dynamic is actually matched by the film’s antagonists — a mechanic named Bo and his formerly-conjoined artist brother Vincent, both played by Brian Van Holt. 

The film’s cold opening hints that their parents favored one brother over the other due to his erratic behavior, which we assume would be Vincent because he is the one covering people in wax until it is revealed that Bo had the behavioral problems. We also learn that there is more to Nick than he lets on when it is discovered that he took the wrap for his friend Dalton’s (Jon Abraham) grand theft auto and comes through for his sister when Bo holds her captive. There are not many slasher movies that would bother to relate the villains to the victims like this and I appreciate House of Wax for the effort.

Damon Herriman Is One Creepy Scene-Stealer

Another one of the more underrated aspects of House of Wax is the performance by Damon Herriman. You may better recognize the Australian actor from the Justified cast as Dewey Crowe or for the times he played Charles Manson in both Netflix’s Mindhunter and 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Credited as “Roadkill Driver” but revealed to be Bo and Vincent’s other brother, Lester, at the very end, Herriman basically shows up to make sure the overused slasher movie trope of the creepy redneck gets crossed off the list. However, with his discomforting glances toward Carly, concerning dialogue, and love for his bowie knife, the actor makes his brief time on screen something truly intense and memorable.

The Waxing Process Is Deeply Unsettling

Speaking of intense and memorable, I will never forget the scene that reveals how the titular House of Wax’s sculptures look so authentic: there are fucking people underneath them! We witness Vincent’s “sculpting” process performed on Carly’s boyfriend, Wade, played by Jared Padalecki right before co-leading the Supernatural cast made him a Scream King.

Wade is drugged with some chemical that keeps him immobile, but alive, as Vincent blasts him with hot wax that conforms to his skin and traps him inside once it dries and he is placed on display. I have seen my fair share of great slasher movies but few that imagine a more unimaginably horrifying way to go than this.

I Think This Is Easily Paris Hilton's Best Performance

I mentioned earlier how my knowledge that Paris Hilton’s character does not survive House of Wax convinced me to check it out in the first place. What I did not mention before was that her performance in the movie as Paige actually led me to change my then-low opinion of the heiress, too.

I am not necessarily calling her performance anything special but I do not believe it is at all worthy of the vitriol most critics spewed at her in response. You know who agrees with me? The late Roger Ebert, who said in his review of House of Wax that “she is no better or worse than the typical Dead Post-Teenager, and does exactly what she is required to do in a movie like this, with all the skill, admittedly finite, that is required.” I would say this movie is Hilton’s best acting work and, not to mention, her death scene is, indeed, pretty killer.

Elisha Cuthbert's Carly Is A Smart Final Girl

While not judged nearly as harshly as her co-star, I believe Elisha Cuthbert’s performance in House of Wax deserves more love. In fact, I think her character is one of the better-written modern horror movie Final Girls for her time.

Carly is not without her mistakes but she compensates for them by also making the smartest decisions of any character in the movie, such as locking Bo out of his truck when she becomes suspicious of him, and she shows great resilience when she is forced to pry her superglued lips open. Many slasher movies are guilty of deplorable characters who serve no other purpose but to suffer the carnage for our enjoyment but there was never a moment I did not empathize and root for Carly.

The Final Act Is Spectacular

Another thing about House of Wax that my idol Roger Ebert agrees with me about is that the climactic final sequence is fantastic. The museum is an actual wax building that begins to melt when a fire breaks out while Carly and Nick are trapped inside with Bo and Vincent.

The house’s melting effects are mostly done practically and look amazing, which kept me on the edge of my seat while the brother and sister searched desperately for an exit. As far as I am concerned, this was a genius idea that could not have been executed better, and is the number one reason to call it one of the most underrated horror films of its time.

As For The Negatives...

Of course, I cannot ignore the things that keep House of Wax from being great, in my opinion. As I mentioned earlier, many bad decisions are made, such as when Dalton discovers Wade on display at the museum and tries to get him out of his wax casing. He has good intentions but he should have known to stop after noticing his friend’s skin came off with the wax.

Speaking of Wade, Carly does not seem too torn up when she discovers his freshly waxed-over body (which is easily the biggest flaw of her character). Yet, I was not bothered by these flaws like I was by the film’s first 20-30 minutes, which is an absolute slog to get through due to its forced character exposition and choppy editing choices that were frustratingly prevalent for the time.

Luckily, I am able to forgive House of Wax’s shortcomings because, as far as admittedly stupid slasher movies from the 2000s go, it was one of the most entertaining I have ever seen. At the end of the day, what more can you really ask for?

Some might think of the House of Wax cast and picture legendary horror movie icon Vincent Price, who led the 1953 version. However, others may picture Paris Hilton, who was one of the stars of the 2005 remake from Dark Castle Entertainment and director Jaume Collet-Sera.

The slasher flick followed a group of road-tripping twenty-somethings who, after some car trouble, are forced to seek help in a mysterious small town which is home to a museum hiding a horrifying secret underneath its astonishingly detailed wax figures. If you believe that House of Wax is one of the best horror movies of the early 2000s and have been curious what its stars have been up to since, read on.

Elisha Cuthbert (Carly Jones)

Carly, the Final Girl of the 2005 House of Wax cast, is played by Elisha Cuthbert, whose experience with horror began when she joined the Midnight Society on Nickelodeon’s family-friendly horror anthology TV show Are You Afraid of the Dark? She was previously famous for playing Jack Bauer’s daughter, Kim, on 24, and as the title role of the raunchy coming-of-age comedy, The Girl Next Door in 2004.

The Canadian actor and model went on to lead more horror movies, such as 2007’s Captive and Shudder’s The Cellar from 2022, but became better known for starring in TV comedies like the short-lived but much-loved Happy Endings and Netflix’s The Ranch. Cuthbert most recently starred opposite Josh Duhamel and Mel Gibson in the 2022 thriller, Bandit, and has a comedy called Friday Afternoon in the Universe in pre-production.

Chad Michael Murray (Nick Jones)

Playing Carly’s rebellious twin brother, Nick, is fellow model-turned-actor Chad Michael Murray, whose main claim to fame at the time was starring in the One Tree Hill cast as Lucas Scott. House of Wax was also his third movie based on a pre-existing work, after appearing in 2003’s Freaky Friday as Jake (whom he is set to reprise in the upcoming sequel, Freakier Friday) and A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff in 2004.

Murray would also return to The CW with a recurring role alongside the Riverdale cast in 2019, having previously starred on another comic book TV show (Marvel’s Agent Carter) as a spy and having played a cop in Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station in 2013. Other projects on the actor’s agenda include his latest upcoming Netflix movie (a holiday rom-com called The Merry Gentlemen), Fortress 3 (the third installment of a straight-to-video action movie franchise he headlined with Bruce Willis), and a Western with Bruce Dern called Bad Men Must Bleed.

Brian Van Holt (Bo Sinclair/Vincent Sinclair)

The other pair of twins from House of Wax — murderous mechanic Bo Sinclair and his demented, masked wax sculptor brother Vincent — are both played by Brian Van Holt, who also played the bad guy in Man of the House the same year. Arguably the actor’s most famous role following the horror flick is Bobby Cobb on Cougar Town, opposite former Friends cast member Courteney Cox as his ex-wife, Jules.

He more recently starred in modern action movie favorite, 2018’s Den of Thieves, Fox’s short-lived Neo-Western series, Deputy, and Peacock’s dramatized account of the story that inspired Tiger King, Joe and Carole. In 2024, he starred opposite Johnny Knoxville in the sports dramedy, Sweet Dreams, and opposite Mel Gibson and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in a cop drama called Boneyard.

Paris Hilton (Paige Edwards)

There was a viral marketing campaign for House of Wax centered around the death scene of Paige, the character played by Paris Hilton. The horror film was the reality TV star and singer’s first starring movie role before leading the 2007 comedy The Hottie & the Nottie and appearing in another horror film from 2008 called Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Outside of her hit Peacock original reality TV show, Paris in Love, Hilton’s more recent acting credits include a 2022 horror movie called Alone at Night and an animated series called Rainbow High, in which she voices herself in four episodes. She is about to release her first music album since 2006 called Infinite Icon and there is an upcoming A24 TV show based on her memoir in the works.

Jared Padalecki (Wade Felton)

Hilton also appeared as herself (more accurately, a forest god that assumed her form) in a Supernatural episode called “Fallen Idols,” opposite Jared Padalecki, who previously starred alongside her in House of Wax as Carly’s boyfriend, Wade. His 15-year-stint in the Supernatural cast as Sam Winchester also began in 2005, which also saw the end of his Gilmore Girls cast stint as Dean Forester.

The actor went on to lead another slasher — namely the 2009 reboot of the Friday the 13th movies — and followed up Supernatural by playing the title role of The CW’s Walker, Texas Ranger reimagining, Walker, which ended in 2024. Next, Padalecki is joining Fire Country for Season 3.

Jon Abrahams (Dalton Chapman)

Nick’s absent-minded best friend Dalton is played by Jon Abrahams, whose previous horror experience includes a small part in the ‘90s sci-fi movie The Faculty, the Wes Craven-produced They from 2002, and a classic spoof movie that sends up the genre called Scary Movie. He also made his acting debut in 1995’s Kids, played Robert DeNiro’s onscreen son in Meet the Parents, and reunited with Paris Hilton in 2006’s Bottoms Up.

More recently, you might have seen Abrahams in TV crime dramas liked ABC’s short-lived Stumptown and FX’s Snowfall, to name a few. He has a feature-length crime drama in post-production now called Cutman.

Robert Ri'chard (Blake Johnson)

Paige’s boyfriend, Blake, is played by Robert Ri’Chard, who was best-known at the time for sitcoms like Nickelodeon’s Cousin Skeeter and One on One, and for the Samuel L. Jackson-led sports movie, Coach Carter, which also came out in 2005. He later poked fun at sports movies in 2007’s The Comebacks and was on a few seasons of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns, to name some of his most notable credits.

Ri'chard recently guest-starred alongside his Cousin Skeeter co-star Meagan Goode on Amazon Prime’s Harlem, has had a regular role on the UMC original dramedy The Rich and the Ruthless since 2017, and has appeared in movies like the 2023 sports biopic, Sweetwater. In 2024, he starred in a BET+ original thriller called RSVP, and has a number of upcoming projects in the works.

Damon Herriman (Lester Sinclair)

Australian actor Damon Herriman makes a memorably creepy impression in very little time as “Roadkill Driver,” who is revealed to be Bo and Vincent’s brother, Lester, at the very end of House of Wax. He would later channel that same energy into two performances as notorious cult leader Charles Manson on Netflix’s Mindhunter and in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast in 2019. 

Some of Herriman’s other notable credits include his recurring role in the Justified cast as Dewey Crowe, a great horror movie that addresses grief called Run Rabbit Run, and the star-studded 2024 drama The Bikeriders. He is set to reprise his role as Quan Chi in the upcoming 2025 movie, Mortal Kombat 2, and that same year he will star in a horror TV show called The Bondsman.

We still have a few months before Fire Country's third season premieres on the 2024 TV schedule. However, exciting news about the series and its expanding universe is burning up right now. I don’t think “burning up” is an exaggeration either, because it was announced that Jared Padalecki would be joining the show with the potential to lead his own spinoff, which is thrilling! Now, the question becomes: what could his show be about? Well, I have some ideas.

We already know that we’re getting one Fire Country spinoff called Sheriff Country, which will star Morena Baccarin and center around the sheriff’s department in Edgewater. Now, with Padalecki joining the CBS hit as a SoCal firefighter named Camden, it seemingly opens the door for more expansion outside of the small town we’ve come to know and love. So, let’s discuss some potential possibilities for his show’s focus (assuming it gets greenlit).

Fire Country: Metro 

I have to admit, focusing on a fire department in a different city feels like the easiest way to spin off Fire Country.

Notably, when Padalecki’s guest role was announced by Deadline, it was revealed that his character Camden is:

At the end of Fire Country's second season, Max Thieriot’s Bode made his mission clear, stating that he’s ready to embrace the Leone legacy and become a firefighter. Starting that journey by doing the job in Edgewater seems a bit unlikely, and I could see him going south, to a bigger city, for a bit to work. Maybe, that’s where he meets Padalecki’s Camden.

The Supernatural star is reportedly scheduled for a three-episode arc with the potential to lead a spinoff. Fire Country: Metro feels like a natural transition. Maybe Camden lives in LA or one of the other bigger SoCal cities, and he’s an influential firefighter there. He could easily lead a new set of characters in a show all about firefighting in a more metropolitan area, and it feels like a natural way to expand the franchise.

We’ve seen NCIS spinoff successfully by taking the same premise to a new city, so why can’t Fire Country?

Fire Country: Med

The other known Fire Country spinoff is called Sheriff Country, and it takes place in Edgewater. So, I could also see the Gilmore Girls alum leading a new show that is set in the same town as the other two dramas and follows a different type of job. Seeing as the first two series are about firefighters and sheriffs, respectively, medics feels like a natural progression.

On Thieriot’s show, Gabriela has been training to be a paramedic, and another integral character, Diego, is one too. While the Walker star’s role is reported to be a firefighter, it’s possible that could change based on his arc on the flagship show, and he could shift into the world of medics and paramedics as he moves to Edgewater.

The worlds are clearly intertwined, as the medical professionals are frequently on the scenes of the fires, so it feels like a logical progression for the franchise’s expansion.

Smokejumper Country

Now, this idea is my most outlandish one, but stick with me. When Season 2 premiered, I interviewed Diane Farr, who plays Bode’s mom Sharon, and I asked her about ideas for a Fire Country spinoff. Back then, Sheriff Country wasn’t greenlit, however, we knew CBS was enthusiastic about expanding the show into a franchise. With that in mind, she told me she’d love to see a series about smokejumpers, and I couldn’t agree more!

Maybe, Jared Padalecki’s character is a thrill-seeker (I mean he has a "surfer swagger"), and a potential spinoff could see him take the leap from firefighter to smoke jumper.

It would be an action-packed show with the potential to take place outside of Edgewater, and it would be so cool! On top of it all, I genuinely think Padalecki would be the perfect lead for a series like that.

Overall, this news about Jared Padalecki joining Fire Country is massive. While it’ll be fun to see his three-episode arc this season, what’s even more exciting about this news is the prospect of him leading his own series within this universe.

While I have my own ideas for what his potential spinoff could be, I’m sure whatever they end up going with will be great, and I can’t wait to see it. In the meantime, we can all stream the first two seasons of Fire Country with a Paramount+ subscription, and prepare to see the veteran TV actor make his debut on the drama when Season 3 premieres on Friday, October 18 at 9 p.m. ET.

Jared Padalecki has been a fixture on the small screen going back to Gilmore Girls in 2000, but his new project will take him away from the network where he went on to star in Supernatural and Walker. The actor has been cast for the upcoming third season of Fire Country, headlined by Max Thieriot and returning in fall of the 2024 TV schedule. This won't just be a one-off gig, and could lead to helping building Fire Country into a larger franchise.

The Supernatural alum is set for a three-episode arc of Fire Country Season 3, with Deadline reporting that he'll play a maverick SoCal firefighter by the name of Camden. The character will bring his "surfer swagger" into the mix as he notices Bode's talent. The role is currently only billed as recurring guest, but it comes with the possibility of him getting his own show in the Fire Country world.

And no, that doesn't mean Padalecki joining the upcoming Sheriff Country spinoff as a co-lead opposite Morena Baccarin, and the showrunner didn't mention anything about a new maverick firefighter when speaking about the spinoff. It's worth noting that Jared Padalecki getting his own installment in the franchise is far from a sure thing, and there's no confirmation of whether the project would air on CBS like Fire Country or go to streaming like NCIS: Tony And Ziva even if it does eventually score a series order.

I can't help but wonder how exactly a spinoff could work with the main character as a firefighter, since that's exactly what Fire Country is now with Max Thieriot's Bode. Admittedly, CBS is the home of more than one very successful franchise with multiple series of the same basic premise, with NCIS and the FBIs. If a spinoff based on Padalecki's character was ordered, would it be set elsewhere, like the various NCIS shows? Or Fire World instead of Fire Country?

Okay, maybe not on Fire World, but the question of whether two firefighter shows in one franchise could work is worth pondering. NBC's Chicago Fire is the only fire department-based first responder show on the network, while Fox cancelled 9-1-1 and kept 9-1-1: Lone Star. ABC briefly had both 9-1-1 and Station 19, but Station 19 was cancelled and only 9-1-1 will return in the fall premiere season.

Of course, Jared Padalecki is a veteran leading man. While he shared the starring role with Jensen Ackles on Supernatural, he was the undeniably lead of Walker. Interestingly, Padalecki's arrival on CBS Fire Country – assuming at least one of his three episodes airs before winter break – follows Ackles' arrival on CBS' Tracker earlier this year. Ackles is also set to appear early in Tracker Season 2 ahead of his The Boys spinoff for Amazon Prime Video subscribers.

Season 8 at 8 p.m. ET and the fall premiere of Blue Bloods' fourteenth and final season at 10 p.m. ET. Walker has officially come to an end in the 2024 TV schedule after four seasons on The CW, fortunately without any massive cliffhangers beyond what would have happened with James Van Der Beek. It was a pretty happy and hopeful ending, with Walker surrounded by loved ones as they celebrated Auggie's graduation. The family (including Geri) even headed off on a vacation at the end, with one of Cordell's final lines packing a punch: "Yeah, I'm ready." Jared Padalecki may not have been as ready, and the final credits rolling on Walker marked the end of an era for the actor... and had me flashing back to what bummed me out about the Supernatural finale years ago.

Why Walker's Finale Was The End Of An Era

While the finale was the end of the Walker era for everybody involved with the show, this was a much bigger deal for Jared Padalecki, and not just because he was both star and executive producer on the drama. This show's finale marks the first time that the actor ended one show on this network without having a new starring gig on The CW lined up next. He had a key role on Gilmore Girls (which he reprised in 2017 for Netflix subscribers with the A Year in the Life miniseries) from 2000-2005, followed by Supernatural from 2005-2020, then followed by Walker from 2021-2024.

This is the first time that he's not set for another WB/CW project, and even though he pitched a way to return to playing Sam Winchester, fans shouldn't count on him coming back on the network. The end of Walker is the end of a professional era that lasted Padalecki nearly a quarter century.

Why Walker Was A Blast To The Supernatural Past

For all that Supernatural ended after fifteen seasons with Dean getting an anticlimactic death and Sam eventually dying as well, I've always leaned more towards Sam and Dean getting a happy ending rather than an unhappy one out of the 2020 series finale. At the very least, we got two versions of "Carry On Wayward Son" in the episode, and what Supernatural fan doesn't love that song?

And one would think that Supernatural would have a more satisfying finale than Walker, since the whole team knew before Season 14 even finished that Season 15 was the end, and the final two episodes were actually delayed in filming due to the COVID-19 pandemic production shutdowns. The Walker team had already finished filming the episode as a Season 4 finale rather than series finale when the cancellation happened. Supernatural had more than a year to plan the ending, but Walker's ended on a happier note.

The plan for Supernatural's ending was originally different, and knowing that might make this sting a little more, even years later. The original plan was for Sam and Dean to reunite with all their loved ones who had died in an afterlife version of the Roadhouse for a more celebratory end – albeit less focused on the brothers – instead of what we ultimately got. Another idea was for a montage of familiar faces.

I don't hold it against Supernatural that neither of the endings with Winchester friends and family happened, as the latter option had to be axed due to COVID. But just getting mentions of Castiel and Co. from Bobby in the finale made it hit a little harder that they were nowhere to be seen. I'm not mad about it, but just bummed all over again that Supernatural couldn't deliver more of the Winchester loved ones in the finale like what Walker did.

There is some news that's better for Supernatural than Walker, though. All fifteen seasons of the former are available streaming on Netflix, while only the first three seasons of Walker are streaming with a Max subscription. Hopefully that will change now that Season 4 has ended!

Late May brought some sad news for fans of The CW series, Walker. While it took a while for the final word to come down (so much so that sets were being broken down without the cast and crew knowing for sure whether or not they’d become one of the shows canceled and ending in 2024) the Jared Padalecki-starring series did get the ax after Season 4, and recently aired its (unplanned) series finale with a surprise CW icon for a guest star and a bit of a cliffhanger. Now, Padalecki has opened up about why his history with Gilmore Girls and Supernatural led him to think Walker wouldn’t be canceled.

Why Did Walker’s Jared Padalecki Think ‘Stupid Me’ About Believing His CW Series Wouldn’t Be Canceled?

The 2024 TV schedule has seen a lot of beloved shows get canceled over the past several weeks, and, unfortunately, by the time Jared Padalecki and the other good people at Walker were finally notified of their status, the Season 4 finale had already been shot and had to become the series finale. Most fans know that the actor has spent most of his career on The WB/CW, as he began by playing Rory’s first boyfriend, Dean, on Gilmore Girls, and then went straight into Supernatural, where he portrayed Sam Winchester for a whopping 15 seasons. 

He recently explained to TV Line that it was his time with those two series that led him to think Walker (which he also executive produced) would get a chance to continue into at least Season 5. As he said:

It might seem odd that a professional actor with 24 years of experience that were largely spent on only three different TV shows would be so hopeful that his latest drama wouldn’t be canceled, but just think about those details I just listed when it comes to Padalecki’s career. Guys? The man started working on Gilmore Girls at 17, and in nearly a quarter of a century has never been unemployed for any significant length of time, especially without knowing what’s coming next. That’s basically a bonafide miracle for someone in a creative field like acting/making amazing television for adoring fans, particularly for someone who’s still so young.

While his talent and hard work have certainly gone a very long way toward his success, so has luck. As he noted, both of his previous series had periods where the chances of survival seemed rather slim, but they were saved and shown so much confidence by network higher ups that those popular dramas were able to end when and how the creative talents behind them wanted. I imagine that’s something that almost never happens to one actor twice, in a row, on two very different TV shows, so of course Padalecki was incredibly hopeful and assumed that Walker would live for at least another season.

The actor did mention, however, that among all that hope he was still vaguely aware things might not work out, but he continued to find solid reasons why the worst simply couldn’t come to pass. He continued:

There was a cancelation bloodbath at the network in 2023, after a new parent company took over, which led to most of the scripted originals being axed in favor of international series, reality shows and reruns like The Conners, so it would seem that Walker (which was one of the most-watched shows there) still had an uphill battle. While it’s sad to see it go, and it’ll likely take some time for the long-time TV star to process what happened, at least he had quite a ride and we can revisit his reboot with a Max subscription whenever we want.

Spoilers ahead for the series finale of Walker on The CW, called "See You Sometime."

Jared Padalecki's long run of CW projects has come to an end with the series finale of Walker in the 2024 TV schedule, after it was confirmed back in May that the end of the fourth season would be the permanent end of the show. The finale had already been filmed by the time the cancellation was confirmed, and "See You Sometime" ended on a cliffhanger hook for Season 5 that involved a former icon of the network and a new storyline for Cordell and Co. Alas, that storyline will never happen now, but Padalecki and showrunner Anna Fricke weighed in on what the plan was for the new character... played by none other than Dawson's Creek cast alum James Van Der Beek!

Okay, technically James Van Der Beek was never a CW star, since his Dawson's Creek days were before The WB rebranded itself as The CW, but it more or less remained the same network and this was a show that all but launched the primetime teen soap genre, starring the likes of Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson alongside Van Der Beek. The show was huge over the course of its six seasons from 1998 - 2003. And while Dawson's Creek – on which Van Der Beek played the titular Dawson – ended before Padalecki joined forces with Jensen Ackles for Supernatural, they did have some mutual WB days when the future Walker star was on Gilmore Girls.

And it turns out that the connection between the actors is what brought James Van Der Beek to Walker. Speaking with TVLine, Padalecki shared that the former Dawson's Creek leading man is "a personal friend," and elaborated:

Van Der Beek's scene in the finale was seemed innocuous on the surface, as his character was revealed as the Walkers' new neighbor who left a gift on their doorstep. That might just have seemed nice and neighborly, but he was dressed in all white and dropping off soap, and it just felt... off. Plus, the way the episode concealed his face until almost the last moment made it clear that this was a lot more than just a nice guy next door played by the guy from Dawson's Creek. Padalecki went on:

Our imaginations can run wild in the wake of the finale, but just because Walker was cancelled doesn't mean fans will never know more details about the plan for James Van Der Beek's character. Showrunnner Anna Fricke, who started in the entertainment industry on Dawson's Creek, shared:

Viewers who know James Van Der Beek as Dawson Leery (and/or his highly memed cry face) might find it far-fetched to imagine him as a cult leader, but his work as one of Criminal Minds' most chilling villains proves that he can be versatile. That's not to say that he'd be a cult leader worthy of Criminal Minds on Walker, though, as the showrunner explained:

As grim as Walker could get from time to time over its fourth season – including Cordell's recent near-death experience – the plan was not to go super dark with his new neighbor as a cult leader. I like to imagine their earliest interactions being about soap, since that's what Van Der Beek's character dropped off.

Sadly, imagining is the best that anybody can do after getting the bonus details from Anna Fricke. If you want to revisit the earlier seasons of Walker and/or short-lived spinoff Walker: Independence, you can find both shows streaming with a Max subscription. It remains to be seen when the fourth and final Walker season will be available on the streamer.

It’s been almost four years since Supernatural ended after an impressive 15-year run on The CW. While the show lost its way towards the end, it's 100% a favorite among fans, especially those who can re-watch it with a Netflix subscription. Of course, considering the love for the show, there's a lot of chatter about a reboot, and Jared Padalecki previously shared his thoughts on whether he'd be down, revealing that his answer would be “yes” if asked. Now, he’s sharing what he wants from it, and his explanation includes him invoking Gilmore Girls.

While appearing on the podcast I've Never Said This Before with his wife, Genevieve, Padalecki told host Tommy DiDario what he really means by wanting to do a Supernatural reboot. He clarified his comments by expressing how much he wants the potential project to follow in the footsteps of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and I desperately need it:

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life took place in the present, which was years after the original series ended. It was a mini-series that followed Rory, Lorelai and co. over the course of one year, hence the title, with each episode focusing on one season of the year, which was actually pretty great. Padalecki was even able to return as Rory’s first love, Dean, even though it was briefly because he was so busy. If Supernatural were to follow a similar format and be able to bring in different fan-favorite guest stars per episode, that would be a dream.

What exactly would happen is unknown since Jensen Ackles’ Dean died in the finale. Perhaps it could follow the events of The Winchesters when Dean went through the multiverse with Baby. But it would make more sense if the reboot were to take place in Heaven, where the series finale ended with both Sam and Dean. That way, even dead characters could come back with no questions asked.

Whatever happens, though, Jared Padalecki definitely wouldn’t mind playing the younger Winchester brother again:

It’s hard to predict if another Supernatural season will ever happen, but it hasn’t even been five years yet, which is when Padalecki and Ackles wanted to really revisit the idea. At the very least, it seems like the two of them, as well as a lot of their SPN co-stars, are still close. It also helps that many Supernatural vets have appeared on The Boys, which comes from SPN creator Eric Kripke. Now that Walker is finishing up, it’s even possible that Padalecki could join The Boys for its fifth and final season.

Thankfully, there are many shows like Supernatural to get into while hoping and praying that the Winchester brothers will return. Reboots and revivals are a hit or miss these days, but you never know what could happen in the future. And I have to say, I'm feeling pretty good about Jared Padalecki's idea for a return to this universe, and I hope it happens.

The Boys is finally back on Prime Video with new episodes in the 2024 TV schedule, with the Season 4 premiere releasing just shy of two years since the Season 3 finale back in 2022. The hit series has reached the halfway point of the fourth season, and fans are watching with the knowledge that it will end following a fifth and final season. That end date does mean that there's time for plenty more of what The Boys does best... including casting Supernatural alums, and we have the latest on the odds of Jared Padalecki joining the cast, including what creator Eric Kripke told CinemaBlend.

The Amazon series has had some very familiar faces for Supernatural fans over the years, ranging from Bobby himself – a.k.a. Jim Beaver – to Rob Benedict for some raunchiness in Season 4. The biggest Supernatural star to arrive on The Boys was certainly Jensen Ackles, however, as the former co-lead of the WB/CW TV show joined to play Soldier Boy in Season 3 and cameo in Gen V.

So, if the Dean Winchester actor could land a role on The Boys, which is helmed by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, what about the Sam Winchester actor? Jared Padalecki opened up to Deadline about possibly teaming up with Kripke again, saying:

While Padalecki didn't get into any specifics about his conversation with Kripke or what kind of character he'd be interested in playing, his explanation for why he's ready now is intriguing in light of the upcoming end of Walker. The reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger was Padalecki's post-Supernatural gig that kept him at The CW for another four seasons, but was cancelled back in May. The series finale airs on June 26, after which Padalecki will presumably have more free time to potentially sign on for The Boys Season 5.

Of course, it'll take more than just Jared Padalecki being ready for the phone call to make his casting on The Boys happen. Fortunately, CinemaBlend's Nick Venable spoke with creator Eric Kripke about what Rob Benedict went through in Season 4 and Jensen Ackles in Season 3, and asked what could be in store for Jared Padalecki next. Kripke shared:

That's not a definitive "yes" about whether Jared Padalecki will become the second Supernatural lead to arrive on The Boys, but it's certainly promising! It'd also be interesting to see Padalecki on a streaming series that can break a lot of network TV rules, as fans saw with Jensen Ackles in Season 3. Padalecki has spent almost his entire acting career in shows on The WB and The CW, with few exceptions once he debuted on Gilmore Girls back in 2001. Gilmore Girls was followed by Supernatural, which was then followed by Walker. Imagine seeing the actor potentially unleashed elsewhere than The CW!

For now, we at least don't have to just imagine new content for The Boys. New episodes will continue releasing on Thursdays with an Amazon Prime Video subscription. You can also revisit all fifteen seasons of Supernatural streaming with a Netflix subscription now.

Just hours after news broke that Walker sets were being dismantled (without the CW having made an official call about whether it had been canceled or renewed), Jared Padalecki has confirmed he’s hanging up his hat. He shared an emotional and often bittersweet message with the fans confirming The CW has said goodbye to Walker, and honestly, reading between the lines it doesn’t sound like it would have been his choice. 

Not that anyone should be surprised by the news the ax has come down. Walker was one of the very last network TV shows to get a call this TV season. A few weeks ago it was making lists alongside shows like The Conners and NCIS: Hawai’i. The Conners got a final season renewal; NCIS: Hawai’i did not fare so hot. Now, Walker will be joining the latter on the long list of 2024 canceled TV shows.

In the post, Padaleck wrote about having a “heavy heart”  as he broke the news. He called it “tough” and while he was “thankful” for growing the Walker family, he also mentioned that “places can be lost,” before writing that “relationships can live forever.” There’s a tinge of sadness and disappointment to some of his adjective choices, but he did close the post on a hopeful note, writing, “til we ride again.” 

Following his note, his former co-star Dave Annable responded to his message for the fans, also crediting the team behind The CW drama for making the experience so wonderful. He wrote: 

A report over at Variety a few weeks ago mentioned there was an expectation Walker would be canceled, and that information dropped after a 2024 cancelation bloodbath came down the pipeline at The CW. Regardless, since the network waited so long to make a call, I think there was some hope that more positive things could be going on behind-the-scenes. 

It is worth mentioning that just a few weeks ago Jared Padalecki was clocked talking about his previous career on Supernatural and noting that if that show did return it would be a “labor of love” and “as true to canon” as possible. I’m not sure if I should have taken his comments as a sign he was thinking about what could come next at that point, but perhaps I should have been.

The only silver lining to this is that Padalecki has truly had a long and storied career in Hollywood with roles like Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, and now Walker helping him to develop a broad and loyal fanbase. He'll for sure be landing on his feet, and we'll keep you post wherever he goes next.  

The CW has seen some major corporate changes in recent years and, as a result, the powers that be have been making big moves to help the network become profitable. Those attempts resulted in a major cancelation bloodbath in 2023 that saw a number of notable shows get wiped out. One of the few survivors of that purge was Jared Padalecki’s Walker, which was renewed for Season 4. However, its future is currently unclear, as the creative team has yet to get the green light for a fifth season. An update has now been provided on that front, though, and it seems like bad news. 

Why Is There Reason To Be Concerned Amid Walker’s Quest For Season 5?

We’re currently in the midst of renewal and cancellation season and, just last week, major networks and entertainment entities held their upfronts for the 2024-2025 TV season. As noted by Deadline, The CW – during their own spiel – didn’t provide details on Walker’s fate. Sources now tell the trade that because of that, some of the show’s sets in Austin, TX are being taken down. Not only that, but the drama series’ crew – who were reportedly informed of the decision last Friday – have apparently started booking other gigs. 

It should be mentioned that this isn't totally a “gloom and doom” situation. A renewal would reportedly lead to the sets being put back in place. Still, that’s a lot easier said than done. So that leads to another question – just how optimistic should fans be about the chances of a fifth season actually happening?

Is It Still Possible That A Fifth Season Will Happen?

Considering this latest development with the sets, it goes without saying that time seems to be running out for Walker in some respects. What can be said is that, as of right now, it sounds like a definitive decision hasn’t been made either way. The co-heads of The CW, Brad Schwartz and Dennis Miller, spoke with Deadline amid the network’s upfronts. During the chat, they discussed not only Walker but other veteran show All American, on which a decision was also not announced. When it comes to Jared Padalecki’s law enforcement drama, Schwartz said the following: 

Deadline has also learned from its sources that the network execs know exactly what would be necessary to keep the show on the air. However, it’s unclear if they can or are able to execute such requirements to make another season happen. The TV entity hasn’t had a problem cutting original content in the pursuit of profitability, even showing reruns of The Conners and Hallmark fare to fill in gaps and attract viewers. And, even if the Jared Padalecki-fronted drama does come back, the production might be hit with budget cuts. That’s what transpired with other series that survived last year’s cancellation season. For instance, financial cuts led to Superman & Lois reducing its main cast in order to save money.

If the Walker, Texas Ranger reimagining takes a bow after this season, it would come a little over a year after the demise of the one-season prequel series, Walker: Independence. Some fans of the franchise may still be licking their wounds after that decision. Right now, though, all they can do is wait and see if the parent show gets another season, leading to its sets being put back in their places.

Walker airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW as part of the 2024 TV schedule. The first three seasons are also available to stream with the use of a Max subscription.

It’s been over three years since fans said goodbye to Sam and Dean Winchester, but Supernatural still lives on. On top of the cast frequenting conventions throughout the year and Supernatural actors appearing on The Boys, Jensen and Danneel Ackles brought a prequel series, The Winchesters, to life, but, it was canceled last year after one season. However, despite the Winchesters’ story seemingly being done, Jared Padalecki isn’t counting out a reunion just yet.

After playing Sam Winchester for 15 years, Padalecki was quick to jump to his next project, Walker. Through that, we've seen a few familiar Supernatural faces on the CW series, plus, Ackles directed an episode and Kansas showed up to sing SPN’s unofficial theme song, “Carry On Wayward Son.” While that doesn’t necessarily mean a Supernatural comeback is happening, it shows their love is still there. However, Padalecki added some fuel to the reunion flame when he told Collider that, in short, he wouldn’t be opposed to returning:

Since Padalecki, Ackles, and much of the cast are pretty busy, it would be hard to figure out when a reunion could happen. However, the fact that both of them seem to be on board is a lot better than nothing. It has only been a few years since the finale. At the very least, the prequel gave fans the chance to see some of their favorite characters again, including Dean, Jack, and Bobby, among a few others, but it would be nice if something more were to happen.

That being said, if a revival or reunion of some type does happen, it would have to make sense and fit into the show's canon, as the actor said. It’s why fans were likely cautious of The Winchesters since John and Mary’s story was different, but the finale explained it all. Even though Padalecki stressed how protective he is of the series, it all really depends on what the story is in regards to doing more:

This isn’t the first time Jared Padalecki has expressed potential interest in making more Supernatural. While appearing at a convention in December, both the Sam and Dean actors weighed in on a Supernatural return, and they teased that there have been conversations and that they have ideas. Clearly, the CW series is still big among fans, especially those whose stories about meeting Ackles and Padalecki are as sweet as can be, and it helps that Netflix subscribers can watch all 15 seasons.

Since Supernatural was only meant to go five seasons and its success still blows creator Eric Kripke away, you never know what could happen down the line. It might still be a while until any type of Supernatural reunion, revival, or even movie happens, but the interest is there, and it's not so much a question of if, it's more a question of when.

It’s been just over three years since Supernatural aired its series finale after 15 seasons. The CW mainstay cemented itself as the longest-running series on the network and is definitely still loved to this day. After two attempts at a spinoff, the show was finally able to expand with prequel series, The Winchesters, which focused on the origins of Sam and Dean’s parents. (Though that was told a different way than had already been established.) With the prequel canceled, is there more SPN on the way? Well, series leads Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles weighed in.

The duo, along with many of their former co-stars, recently appeared at Creation Entertainment’s The Road So Far… The Road Ahead Supernatural-themed convention in Honolulu. During their Gold Panel, which was captured via YouTube, one fan asked about Sam and Dean meeting each other again in Heaven in the final moments of the series finale. With that, the person wondered if the two stars might expand on the conversations the brothers would have and essentially, their adventure in Heaven. While not giving away too much, Jared Padalecki shared that he has thought about it:

Dean died during the finale and, on the installment, fans saw a montage of Sam’s life where he had a son named Dean, lived a long and happy life and died at an old age. On The Winchesters’ finale, Dean explained that Sam was still living on Earth, and he was watching over him, making sure that it was safe. Not to quote Aladdin, but there is a whole new world that Supernatural could explore, whether it be with another spinoff or a true continuation series, a la Law & Order and Criminal Minds. It sounds like there is a possibility, and it’s being discussed, Though Jensen Ackles also told fans the following:

It may be too early to tell if anything will actually come to fruition, since it seems like there are only discussions going on at the moment. Nevertheless, this is still exciting. The Winchesters was canceled after its first season earlier this year as part of a cancellation bloodbath that took place in the midst of The CW’s acquisition by Nexstar. (One would think that under the company's previous regime, the offshoot could've snagged a renewal.) Though the spinoff met its demise, I would think that the media company would at least consider another show, if Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles would be willing to sign on.

For now, fans will just have to have faith that Sam and Dean’s story will continue, in one way, shape, or form. Let's hope, fellow fans, that both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles remain interested and are able to work something out, especially now that the Hollywood strikes are done. In the meantime, all 15 seasons can be streamed with a Netflix subscription, while The Winchesters is available for Max subscription holders.

Regarding celebrities, it can be difficult to see understand what they might be going through personally when they are some of the biggest stars on the planet. But several have opened up about their battle with depression, two things that are talked about at length in the world now. Here are eight celebrities who have opened up about their battle with depression. 

Lady Gaga 

Lady Gaga has been in a few movies and TV shows alongside her famous singing career, but she's also opened up about her battle with depression and anxiety throughout her whole life. In an interview that Lady Gaga did with Billboard back in October 2015, she revealed she created her Born This Way foundation as a way to help troubled teens who are going through the same thing:

Gaga started off her career in music, breaking many records, earning number-one hits, and becoming a massive star throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s. 

Later, she began acting, earning a Golden Globe win for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel (which Ryan Murphy created), and starring in films like A Star is Born and  House of Gucci. She's even set to appear in Joker 2. Her foundation, Born This Way, is still running today. 

Pete Davidson 

Pete Davidson has sprung up on the scene in the last few years. From his time on Saturday Night Live until he left in May 2022, to his many great movies that he's starred in, Davidson has made himself a household name. But Davidson has also been extremely open in discussing his mental health, including his depression. 

In an honest conversation that he had with Charlamagne Tha God in February 2020, Davidson revealed he feels depression "all the time:"

But Davidson said that now, he knows how to get himself out of it, saying that a big part of it included going outside. 

Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki is known for his role on the hit TV show Gilmore Girls and his co-starring role on the long-running series Supernatural, which lasted for fifteen years, and a role he could play again some day. Padalacki has also revealed that he has had his struggles with depression as well. 

In an interview with Variety in March 2015, Padalecki revealed how he found out he had depression and why he decided to enact a T-shirt campaign through Represent.com to benefit the To Write Love on Her Arms foundation, which helps people suffering from depression. He said it all started from a breakdown while filming Season 3 of Supernatural. 

Padalecki then said that while he learned to deal with his depression, he wanted to help others, which led him to create the campaign in 2015. 

Jim Carrey 

Jim Carrey is known for many incredible movies, and the actor has been very open about his mental state for several years. 

When he was promoting his new film, Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, in September 2017 for The Hollywood Reporter, Carrey opened up about how when he played Andy, he "lost himself" in the character and realized that he was doing that with himself too – playing a character, because he would get "depressed" when he had to play himself again, so he tries not to do that anymore: 

Lili Reinhart

Lili Reinhart is known for starring on the hit CW show Riverdale, where she played Betty Cooper for seven seasons straight. But the young actress has also been extremely open about her mental health, sharing her struggles with her fans. 

On her Instagram Stories (via People) in May 2021, Reinhart revealed that she was having a hard day in regards to her depression and that to anyone else who was going through hard times, it was normal to have tough days like these:

Taraji P. Henson

Another famous actress here is Taraji P. Henson, who has been in several great movies and TV shows. Aside from her starring roles, she's also opened up about her battle with depression and anxiety. 

In a cover story for Self in December 2019, Henson revealed in a video interview her struggles with both depression and anxiety, and that in her community, it's not often that mental health is talked about enough:

Henson also revealed that she held "no shame" when she realized what was happening and knew she needed help to deal with it despite the pressure of Hollywood. 

Dwayne Johnson

Dwayne Johnson has also been a significant success over the last several years, appearing in many great movies. Still, Johnson revealed in an interview with The Pivot Podcast in May 2023 that he had had three battles with depression in the past, starting off with his time in high school, and that he "didn't know" what it was at the time:

He also revealed that by the time the third bought of depression happened, he had friends that were close by that he could lean on:

Ben Affleck 

Last, we have Ben Affleck, another actor who has been around for years. Affleck has appeared in many movies, but he says that sometimes he does get depressed and that he uses antidepressants, which he revealed in an interview with Good Morning America in February 2020. 

It's great to hear these stars openly discuss their past and share their stories. Hopefully, this sheds some light on a few celebrities who are going through depression day to day and how they've learned to cope. It's genuinely one of the best ways to aid others – sharing our stories. 

Well, it’s that time of the year again, avid TV fans. We’ve officially entered the part of the season in which we anxiously wait for news on the fates of our favorite shows. Anyone who’s ever followed renewals and cancellations surely knows just how nerve-wracking it is. CW fans probably know this feeling particularly well, though there is some good update to celebrate this week. Walker, the crime drama starring Jared Padalecki, was officially renewed for a fourth season. Shortly after the news broke, Padelecki and his wife, Genevieve (who’s also on the show), shared their reactions. 

What Jared And Genevieve Padalecki Had To Say About Walker’s Renewal

Jared Padalecki – who also serves as an executive producer on the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot – didn’t waste time when it came to sharing his reaction to the news. The enthusiastic 40-year-old star dropped an update on Twitter, and he seems to be very excited that he gets to remain in the shoes of Cordell Walker. He also threw in a bit of gratitude to his collaborators as well:

The series has been somewhat of a passion project for the Supernatural icon and, over the past few years, he’s been candid about the hard work he and his collaborators put into the show. Genevieve Padalecki would likely attest to the cast and crew’s hard work. And that’s not only because she’s watched her hubby work but due to the fact that she plays Cordell’s deceased wife, Emily, on the show. The actress reacted to the news via an Instagram post, and her sentiments echoed those of her spouse: 

The series was handed a shortened 13-episode fourth season, which may be disappointing to some. Nevertheless, fans are surely just glad that it'll eventually return to the 2023 TV schedule at all. Some shows on The CW haven’t been (or won’t be) as fortunate, including a program that’s closely related to the series.

Walker: Independence Was Cancelled Amid Changes At The CW

You read the subheader above correctly. Spinoff prequel series Walker: Independence was scrapped after a single season and following loads of speculation regarding its fate. CinemaBlend had actually listed it as a show that would probably get cancelled unless a major change was made. Though its run was brief, the Katherine McNamara-led show seemed to develop a small, but devoted fanbase. The 13-episode series ended with a wild finale twist, and Season 2 would’ve paid homage to Jared Padalecki’s parent show. 

There is a spot of somewhat hopeful news, though, as the producers are reportedly aiming to find a new home for the show. Jared Padalecki spoke to TVLine about his team's efforts to do so:

Over the past few months, updates suggested that a cancellation bloodbath was headed to The CW. This is greatly due to the content strategy that the network’s parent company, Nexstar, is looking to implement. Right now, there are still a few key shows that have yet to be renewed, including Superman & Lois, Gotham Knights and The Winchesters. Since I’m admittedly a fan of the first of those three, I’m among those waiting for answers.

So amid all of this uncertainty, fans of Walker should definitely be breathing a sigh of relief right about now. It’s possible that the ongoing writers' strike could potentially delay the fourth season. But there’s still plenty of comfort to be found in the knowledge that the show is set to return at some point.

Following The CW’s merger, the future of many shows on the network are unknown, and several are ending after this current broadcast season. Freshman series Walker: Independence is one of the series that has an unknown future, and considering many CW shows have been canceled this year, things don't look great. However, that isn’t stopping showrunner Seamus Kevin Fahey from thinking about ideas for Season 2 and how it could pay homage to Supernatural. 

Following the Season 1 finale of Walker: Independence, it would be plain rude to not renew it, in my opinion, but as of now, it’s still hard to predict whether it will be one of the lucky shows. Even so, Seamus Kevin Fahey recently teased a possible storyline to TVLine for the potential upcoming season that would pay homage to EP Jared Padalecki’s hit show Supernatural and the fan-favorite car:

Fans of Supernatural know exactly what episode Fahey is talking about. In Season 11, there was an episode appropriately titled “Baby” that completely took place inside the ’67 Chevy Impala. While it would be a tad different having an episode take place on the top of a horse, getting that new perspective, and perhaps even getting information around Independence that we wouldn’t have otherwise, would be interesting. Maybe we’d get Padalecki to cameo again too? 

That being said, it would be intriguing to see if there are any other Supernatural homages or references if we get another season of Walker: Independence. With Jared Padalecki being an executive producer on the Walker prequel, it’s quite possible. Since Mark Sheppard is on Independence, it wouldn’t be surprising if we end up getting a reference or two about a certain demon by the name of Crowley. We already got some Supernatural homages on Walker, between Jensen Ackles directing an episode and Kansas performing, so who knows what could happen. We’ll just have to wait and see until WIndy is confirmed for a second season, hopefully.

Meanwhile, with a Supernatural homage potentially on the way, fans can also probably expect more Walker Easter Eggs in Independence. Padalecki previously revealed his hopes to keep the “Walker-verse” thriving with Easter Eggs, and he said that he has fun ideas for it. So whether that’s a flashback or reference to the past on Walker or a look into the future on Independence, it will surely be something to look forward to.

It's hard to tell if Walker: Independence will appear on the 2023 TV schedule again, especially with the way things are going at The CW. Since the network had a “Red Wedding” of cancellations last year, it’s very possible the same thing happens again. Fingers crossed Independence gets renewed because now I need to see the “Baby” episode in the form of a horse.

It was a long time coming, but Jared Padalecki finally made the jump to the Walker spin-off, Walker: Independence, for The CW series’ latest episode. The Supernatural alum previously shared his hopes for a cameo on the spinoff prequel series but couldn't say when or how it would actually happen, especially given the fact that the two shows film in different states. Luckily, for Padelecki, his prayers were answered, and he's now dishing on the cool moment as well as whether more Easter eggs will be featured on the show.

Jared Padalecki spoke to TVLine about just how eager he was to show up on Walker: Independence. It sounds like he's been wanting this from the very beginning and was willing to do everything he could to make it happen. His thoughts on Easter eggs are also sure to make fans of the growing TV franchise very happy:

The leading appearance in the episode “How We Got Here” was definitely worth the wait. The actor played an unnamed character and in the process, reunited with Matt Barr, who plays Hoyt Rawlins on Independence and portrayed his descendant of the same name on Walker until his death. During this latest episode, the two men nearly teamed up to rob a train but realized only one guy could do it. A gunfight would then ensue, and Hoyt emerged victorious.

There's a firm chance that this plot point won't be brought up again, as it mostly just seemed to serve as a cool nod for fans. Though it would be cool if the writers find some kind of way to bring it back into play. Regardless, it was great to see Jared Padalecki show up on the spinoff. Also, what's even more exciting is that if the prequel is renewed for a second season, it’s possible that more cameos could come into play, based on Padalecki's comments.

 Independence has had a decent run on The CW so far, and the fact that it airs alongside its popular parent show is definitely a boon for it. While the aforementioned leading man is great though, Katherine McNamara's portrayal of Abigail Walker is perfect. And her character's spirit is very much in line with what we know about the Walker family.

When Independence was first announced, there was surely excitement amongst fans, though I'd wager that the hype is only stronger now. That's all thanks to compelling stories being told and sweet moments like Jared Padalecki's cameo. Considering that Walker films in Austin and Independence is shot in Santa Fe, I'm glad he and the producers found a way to make it all work out. And let's hope that any future cameos and other nuggets are just as fun as this one.

It’s been 25 years since Titanic sailed its way into theaters and was number one at the box office for 12 years. But there’s still one tiny detail that bothers people today: would Jack have fit on the boat with Rose and survived the Titanic sinking with her? Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki gave his take on the Titanic door debate just for argument’s sake.

In Titanic’s third act when the ship finally sinks to the freezing ocean floor, Jack and Rose swim to a floating door and both try to rest on top of it for their safety. Unfortunately, the door doesn’t hold both of them which leads to Jack allowing Rose to stay on top of the door while he dies of hypothermia due to staying in the freezing water. People still debate that the two star-crossed lovers could have fit on the door. TV and film actor Jared Padalecki gave his stance on an Instagram story on whether or not Jack and Rose could have fit. Take a look below.

Looks like Jared Padalecki is one of the masses who believes Jack and Rose could have fit. Over two decades later, people have still been trying to square off this debate. And can you blame them? Could Jack have survived the Titanic sinking with Rose and lived life together as audiences wanted? Others who had nothing to do with the movie shared their input like MythBusters who did an experiment to see if Jack and Rose’s lives could have been spared lying on that door. They proved that there would have been plenty of room for the two of them if they really tried. Others included Neil DeGrasse Tyson who also had a problem with Titanic’s ending feeling that Jack and Rose could have made more attempts to fit on the door compared to giving up after one failed attempt. While that part bothered me as well, it’s possible these two characters just didn’t have any more strength left to come up with a thousand scenarios.

As for what Titanic cast members have to say, Leonardo DiCaprio refused to comment as he laughs at the question. Kate Winslet has previously admitted that she felt they both could have fit. While talking about the resurgence of the door debate, Winslet said she would like to one day revisit the door scene and see if she and DiCaprio would fit on that particular prop if they were to try it again. Let’s cross our fingers that the legendary prop door still exists so we can see this moment come to life one day.

If there’s anyone who can best answer this question, it would be the brains of the operation, James Cameron. However, the visionary director has expressed his frustration with the criticism that Jack had to die no matter what in order to give the film artistic meaning. To further prove his point and unwillingly stick with science, Cameron did a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the door and got two stunt people of the same body mass as Winslet and DiCaprio. The results- there was no way both of them could have survived. As Jack and Rose’s love story resembled Romeo and Juliet, it was basically written in stone that their relationship would start and end on their Titanic journey.

Jared Padalecki claims that Jack and Rose could have fit on the door and their lives would have been spared. My long-held belief has always been that while Jack and Rose could have fit on the door, their weights together wouldn’t have been enough to keep the door afloat. Jared Padalecki has been dealing with bad guys as Texas Ranger Cordell Walker on The CW’s Walker for only a few seasons, but the series already managed to get a prequel spinoff, Walker: Independence. While the spinoff takes place in the late 1800s and follows Kat McNamara as a Walker ancestor, Padalecki still apparently wants to appear on the show.

Even though Padalecki does not star in the prequel, for obvious reasons, he is still heavily involved as he’s an executive producer. In an interview with TVLine, he expressed interest in appearing in Walker: Independence, and he has quite a few options on how that can happen since the series shoot in different states:

It definitely would be nice to see Jared Padalecki make a quick cameo on Walker: Independence. While I do wonder how the shows could make it work considering that they're set in different centuries, the actor has some interesting ideas! Perhaps there's even a way to do it without Padalecki needing to be in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which is where Independence is shot.

Although it’s unknown if and when we’ll see Jared Padalecki on Walker: Independence, the series did just recently include a very familiar face for Supernatural fans. Former King of Hell Mark Sheppard plays Hagan on the Walker prequel, and while Hagan is no Crowley, it was definitely fun to see him back on The CW. 

Of course, it might be a good idea to just focus on Cordell in the present on Walker since he and his brother Liam are still going through it following their kidnapping. Cordell is already a changed man after those events, even if he doesn’t want to believe it and acts like everything is okay. Though perhaps Abigail can appear to him in a dream? Or his parents could tell him some stories of their ancestors. 

As for Walker: Independence, the series already seems to be leading Abigail to disaster for Season 1, even though losing her husband was already harsh enough. Now that she’s a legal advisor, she’s able to not only continue doing a job she’s good at but can also watch out for the sheriff, who killed her husband. So right now, both shows seem to be pretty occupied with other storylines, but if it fits into the story, who knows if Jared Padalecki will pop up on Independence in the near future? Even if he is just some random guy riding through town. 

Since Jared Padalecki does want to appear on Walker: Independence in some way, fingers crossed that will happen. But in the meantime, new episodes of Walker and Walker: Independence air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET, respectively, on The CW. The next chapter in the Supernatural legacy is finally underway, thanks to the recent canon-breaking premiere of The Winchesters. Narrated by Jensen Ackles' Dean Winchester, the show plays out the origin story of Dean and Sam's parents -- John and Mary. When the show was initially announced, things seemed to be a bit complicated since Jared Padalecki shared his disappointment about not knowing that the show was in the works. Thankfully though, Padalecki and Ackles quickly patched things up, much to the delight of fans. Now, Ackles is opening up about the support he’s been getting from Padalecki while crafting the spinoff series.

Since Jared Padalecki is a producer on Walker and now holds the same title on the prequel series, Walker: Independence, Jensen Ackles has apparently been turning to him for advice and notes in regard to how he's proceeding with The Winchesters. And as the actor explained to Looper, this has led the two to have some conversations that are quite different from the ones they're used to having:

It’s nice to know that the two are still as close as ever and are able to provide help to one another whenever it's needed. Although the stars (who worked together for 15 years) are both doing new things now, the fact that they can still have these conversations with each other says a lot about their relationship. And as Jensen Ackles later mentioned, he really appreciates their talks:

Jensen Ackles has directed for TV before (and even did an episode of Walker), so he's no stranger to working behind the camera. However, working as a producer is a bit different. There are plenty of logistics that one has to oversee while producing, and it's easy to imagine that such a thing can be overwhelming for someone who's just getting started. So it's not hard to imagine that Ackles' chats with Jared Padalecki have been invaluable for him.

The Dean Winchester actor is heavily involved in the making of The Winchesters, according to lead actress Meg Donnelly. He even gave her and Drake Rodger pep talks after they were cast in the starring roles. As a fan, it's great to know that the Supernatural alum is putting so much effort into making this new show something special.

Of course, the series is only in its infancy and still has a ways to go before it can truly cement itself as a small-screen classic like its predecessor. But as long as Jensen Ackles stays committed -- and gets the occasional piece of advice from Jared Padalecki -- I'm sure things will move along just swimmingly.
