Jonathan Majors’ big-screen comeback is now in full swing, as the legally embattled actor is set to headline a movie for The Daily Wire. Production on that film reportedly hasn’t gone smoothly, though, per reports. It was shared weeks ago that crew members took issue with some of the production methods being used. Not only that, but the film also made headlines after Majors reportedly fell out of a window while working on set. Additionally, Majors apparently dropped a seven-word response after the mishap occurred.

Weeks ago, footage of both Majors and his co-star, JC Kilcoyne, falling out a window on the set of their action movie hit the web and went viral. Majors later shared an update, saying that he was doing “OK” following the situation. Recent comments shared by newly installed Daily Wire CEO Mike Richards also seem to suggest Jordan being fine just moments after his fall. The former game show producer shared with THR how far Majors apparently fell out of the window and that afterwards, the actor only shared some very direct sentiments:

Based on that, the Creed III star was apparently ready to get right back to work. Of course, there’s no telling if audiences will actually see that take in writer/director Kyle Rankin’s finished film. Despite Majors’ seemingly lighthearted take on the accident, the footage showed that it was still a serious situation. Kilcoyne reportedly needed stitches on his hand due to injuries he sustained, though a representative for the actor said their client “did not feel unsafe on set.”

Earlier this year, production on the film took place in South Carolina, where crew members allegedly took issue with Rankin filming in a building that allegedly had black mold. Department heads’ supposed lack of meetings with Rankin and past legal entanglements of the movie’s SFX supervisor also gave the crew pause. In time, a labor strike was also called by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

This production marks a significant career moment for Majors, whose legal issues remain a topic of discussion. Majors was notably found guilty on two counts of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment stemming from a 2023 incident involving his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors, who’s since married Meagan Good, has more recently been seeking to re-enter the acting business. And, according to Richards, Daily Wire has been plans for the former Kang the Conqueror actor:

So it seems that, if Mike Richards has his way, Majors will be in business with Daily Wire for the foreseeable future. Majors’ feelings on that are unclear but, if his post-fall comments seem to suggest anything, it’s that he’s zeroing in on the work he has to do. As of right now, it’s unclear if this new movie will debut as part of the 2026 movie schedule.

Jonathan Majors is still mounting a comeback and, as part of, the actor has been filming a new action movie that’s been set up at The Daily Wire. The shoot for the film (for which a title has yet to be announced) has reportedly been plagued with behind-the-scenes issues, though. On that note, Majors and a co-star recently fell through a window on set while filming a scene. Initial reports suggested that Majors was doing fine after the incident, but the actor himself is now addressing the situation.

This past week, footage of Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne accidentally falling through the window went viral. At the time, Majors and Kilcoyne stumbled backwards and out of frame and ultimately hit the glass and fell out of the window. The clip also sees crew members checking on the two actors, who appear to affirm that they’re fine. A source recently spoke with TMZ about the situation and attributed it to “simple inertia.” Despite the accident, it’s said that the specific scene was rehearsed months in advance.

Reps for Kilcoyne reiterated that their client was fine and “did not feel unsafe on set” and that he was having a “positive experience.” It was also reported, however, that Kilcoyne needed stitches on his hand due to injuries he sustained. Majors – who was reportedly supposed to be swapped out for a stunt double before the window segment – shared comments of his own with TMZ. The Creed III alum’s sentiments appeared to be upbeat:

Majors was first reported to be starring in this film back in February, with production said to be taking place in South Carolina. Plot details and additional casting information were kept under wraps at the time and, as of this writing, a lot of the specifics are still unknown. While Majors seems to be enjoying himself following the window accident, there are reportedly still other issues that have unfolded on the set as of late.

Crew members are allegedly unhappy with a lack of meetings with writer/director Kyle Rankin or his department heads in regard to proper firearm usage and stunt execution. A debate over shooting in a building where black mold was discovered also became an issue. The involvement of SFX supervisor Chris Bailey was also reportedly an issue due to him being sentenced to probation for “illegally possessing explosive materials” on a movie set. Due to these issues, members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees called for a strike near the end of March. Dallas Sonnier, who’s co-producing the film under his Bonfire Legend banner, has since said a collective bargaining agreement with the IATSE will not be attempted by the producers.

On the whole, this marks the first movie the leading man has filmed in more than three years and comes after the slew of legal issues Majors contended with after his 2023 arrest and subsequent conviction on assault and harassment charges. With roles reportedly drying up for him, Majors was reportedly seeking to earn income by other means, including public appearances with autograph signings and photo sessions. At the same time, the former Marvel star has also expressed interest in reprising his role as Kang the Conqueror.

As far as the public knows, production on Jonathan Majors’ new movie is still filming as scheduled, though it remains to be seen if it’ll be released amid the 2026 movie schedule. Meanwhile, it’s also alleged that in the aftermath of the window accident, the crew has come closer together.

Jonathan Majors’ career took a major hit in late 2023 when he was found guilty of third-degree assault, as well as harassment. In addition to being sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling, he was also dropped from many projects, including the Dennis Rodman movie and his return as Kang the Conqueor in the next two Avengers movies. However, in recent weeks Majors has been filming an upcoming untitled action movie from The Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend. That said, word’s come in that the actor fell out a window during the filming of this flick, and that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to the problems this production is reportedly facing.

Video footage was passed along to Deadline showing Jonathan Majors and JC Kilcoyne, his co-star on this Daily Wire movie, falling out a window while performing in a scene. According to sources who spoke with the outlet, the accident happened after an unsecured sheet of tempered glass was put in place that was going to be shattered in a stunt filmed later that didn’t involve any actors. Majors and Kilcoyne, as well as the sheet of glass, fell about six feet.

One source claimed Kilcoyne required stitches “all over his hand” afterwards, and another crew member claimed that when they arrived on set later to reset the scene, “nobody mentioned anything about people falling out the window…It seemed weird to me.” While reps for Majors didn’t return Deadline’s request for comment, reps for Kilcoyne said that he is is doing well and was taken care of immediately by production,” and that he didn’t felt unsafe on the set and “continues to have a positive experience working on the project.”

But as I already said, this is just one of many issues that have reported popped up during the filming of this Daily Wire movie. Other examples include crew members having no meetings with departments heads or writer/director Kyle Rankin about “complex stunts or the use of prop firearms”; the crew protesting when scenes were originally going to be shot in a building that was found to contain black mold; and concern over the movie’s special effects supervisor, Chris Bailey, who was “sentenced to probation for illegally possessing explosive materials on a Savannah movie set,” per the DOJ.

It’s gotten bad enough that on March 26, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees called for a general strike on this Jonathan Majors-fronted movie because of these labor issues and safety concerns. Dallas Sonnier, who runs Bonfire Legend, said in a statement that the producers have no intention of negotiating for a collective bargaining agreement with the IATSE. He claimed that these strikers are “trying to sabotage the few people who are still producing. We don’t negotiate with communists.”

Though Jonathan Majors’ movie isn’t officially titled, Deadline has heard it’s actually called Run Hide Fight Infidels and is an “anthology sequel” to Kyle Rankin’s 2020 movie Run Hide Fight. The story is also allegedly taking influence from action movies like Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers. We’ll monitor for more updates about this movie’s behind-the-scenes troubles.

This time three years ago, Jonathan Majors was arguably one of the most sought-after actors in all of Hollywood, as he was lining up a variety of roles. During that stretch, the actor even landed a comedy flick that was to see him play basketball legend Dennis Rodman. Majors’ legal issues, which began in 2023, led to him being dropped from the project. Said movie is still set to happen, though, and a new actor has now been cast to play Rodman. And the new star has various credits under his belt, including Knives Out and Get Out.

48 Hours in Vegas has officially cast LaKeith Stanfield to play the role of ex Chicago Bull Dennis Rodman. Directed by Rick Famuyiwa and produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Aditya Sood, the film tells an account of the impromptu trip Rodman (an EP on this film) took to “Sin City” amid the 1998 NBA Finals. As the legend goes, the Bulls’ assistant general manager at that time also accompanied Rodman on his excursion. Stanfield also shared a statement with Deadline, through which he spoke out about his casting:

Honestly, I’m not sure LaKeith Stanfield is the first actor I would’ve envisioned to play the hall of famer, though this pick does feel inspired. It also goes without saying that Stanfield has more than proven his prowess as an actor due to the previously mentioned films as well as titles like Judas and the Black Messiah, Sorry to Bother You and Uncut Gems. He’s also no stranger to playing eccentric characters, as he did just that when he portrayed the character of Darius on the acclaimed dramedy series Atlanta for four seasons.

One question I do have is just how much the Book of Clarence alum is going to commit to the physicality of the role. From a physical standpoint, Rodman was quite built during his prime, and Stanfield is more slender. Still, I suppose what matters most is whether Stanfield can embody the personality quirks that “The Worm” did and still does possess. That being said, as a basketball fan, I would love to see at least one scene in which Stanfield – while in character – is in action on the court.

Before he was let go from the project, Jonathan Majors discussed his own reasons for “selfishly” wanting to be a part of 48 Hours in Vegas. Majors, who was also quite jacked at the time, discussed his desire to play someone like Rodman, describing him as an “eclectic” person with an “open mind” and an “open heart.” Majors was cast in 2022 and was ultimately dropped from the project in 2024 after being convicted on counts of assault and harassment.

When it comes to this upcoming Dennis Rodman movie, I still have more than a few questions, especially when it comes to who else might be joining LaKeith Stanfield. Color me intrigued, though, especially given Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s record as directors, writers and producers. Rick Famuyiwa – who also co-wrote the script with Jordan VanDina – also has comedic sensibilities that would be viable for telling this kind of story. So here’s hoping the creative team makes this a slam dunk of a movie.

A release date has not been announced for 48 Hours in Vegas, as of this writing. However, in the meantime, fans can grab a Netflix subscription and check out the docuseries The Last Dance to get a taste of Rodman's trip to Vegas and the context surrounding it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for constantly expanding, with projects hitting theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Without a doubt the most highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movie is Avengers: Doomsday, which looks like it's going to be absolutely epic. Writer Michael Waldron recently revealed a scrapped plan for Jonathan Majors' Kang and the Young Avengers, and it's truly a wild choice that I would have loved to see.

What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is very limited, but the cast is massive and contains entire teams of heroes. While Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom will be the main villain, there was a time when Marvel Studios was crafting a blockbuster around Kang. In an AMA on Reddit, Waldron spoke about some of the alternate plans for that mysterious blockbuster, revealing:

Talk about a gag. I can only imagine how thrilling it would have been to see the Young Avengers' victory over Kang... only to realize that they've got a newbie version of the antagonist. This sequence seemingly would have included both action and comedy, and now I kind of wish we got to see it. Alas, Jonathan Majors' firing from the MCU has resulted in the studio dropping that character altogether.

It's crazy to think about just how much writing was done on the next Avengers movie when it was originally titled The Kang Dynasty. Majors' villain was set up as the next big bag in a number of projects including Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. But for reasons unrelated to storytelling, all those plans were scrapped, and focus was shifted over to RDJ's Doctor Doom.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have been not-so-patiently waiting for the Young Avengers to come together. After a number of younger heroes were introduced throughout Phases Four and Five, it certainly looked like that team was going to be formed. The Marvels' ending showed Ms. Marvel recruiting Kate Bishop, and also naming Ant-Man's daughter as another possible member. But exactly when we'll see them united on the big screen is currently a mystery.

The Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement didn't include any of the characters who would make up the Young Avengers, so their fate is unclear. Maybe they're being saved for Secret Wars? Hey, a guy can dream.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th of next year as part of the 2026 movie release list. Secret Wars will follow suit on December 17, 2027.

There was a time when Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror was going to be the main antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga. However, after Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment, he was fired from Marvel Studios, and Robert Downey Jr. was brought in to play Doctor Doom in Kang’s absence. However, on the subject of whether we could still see Kang in any of the upcoming Marvel movies or upcoming Marvel TV shows, the actor gave way more of a cryptic response than I thought he would.

If there was absolutely no chance of Majors reprising his MCU role, one would think he would just say that outright. And yet, when The Sun asked him at the Daytime Beauty Awards to respond to rumors about him returning to this superhero franchise, he smiled and coyly answered:

Ok… that’s puzzling. Are we to infer that Marvel Studios might have changed its mind about including Jonathan Majors in the MCU, or is he just having a little fun with that reporter? It’s unclear, and Majors continued to be cryptic when asked if there was a Kang project specifically in the works for him, saying:

Jonathan Majors made his MCU debut in the Loki Season 1 finale as He Who Remains, the Kang variant who created the Time Variance Authority. Then he appeared as the “main” Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and while that version seemingly perished while fighting Scott Lang, the mid-credits scene showed countless other Kang variants ready to wreak havoc on the multiverse, including Immortus, Rama-Tut and Centurion. After that, Majors returned for Loki Season 2 as the Victor Timely variant of Kang, as well as briefly reprised He Who Remains.

Had things gone according to the original plan, the many Kangs would have taken center stage for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and continued causing trouble in Avengers: Secret Wars. Once Majors was let go, the former movie was retitled to Avengers: Doomsday to reflect the new Doctor Doom-centric plan. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in July that the decision to replace Kang with Doom had been made even before Jonathan Majors’ legal drama, as he and the other Marvel Studios brass realized Kang wasn’t a “big enough” threat.

While I doubt that Jonathan Majors will ever return to the MCU with the same prominence he had before, perhaps there will be a scene in Avengers: Doomsday that explains why the Kangs are no longer in the picture. If that’s the case, then Majors has already returned to the character, as Doomsday finished filming last month. Alas, we won’t know if Majors is involved in the movie or not until it’s released on December 18 on the 2026 movies schedule.

Almost a year ago, Marvel Studios left fans in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con (and fans who were not in attendance) shook when it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Kevin Feige Explains When Marvel Studios Shifted Away From Kang For Doom

It may be easy for some to infer one thing about Marvel Cinematic Universe’s transition from Kang the Conqueror as the Multiverse Saga’s Big Bad to Doctor Doom. The obvious assumption could be that the Doom idea was initiated in the aftermath of Jonathan Majors’ firing. However, I’d long wondered if that was definitely the case, and it seems it wasn’t. Kevin Feige recently took part in a wide-ranging discussion with news outlets, including THR, and he set the record straight on why Doom was brought into the picture:

So, as the Marvel Studios president laid out, the notion of getting Robert Downey Jr. to play Victor von Doom pre-dated Jonathan Majors’ legal entanglements. What I find particularly interesting is that these discussions apparently even came before Kang’s big-screen debut in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. I have to say that I personally enjoyed Kang as a character and was curious to see how he and his variants would be a threat in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (which ultimately became Doomsday).

As much as I liked the concept of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes being in conflict with someone who was figuratively (and literally) in conflict with himself, I’m hopeful for the Doctor Doom plans. While that all continues to unfold, Jonathan Majors now finds himself in a very different professional space.

Jonathan Majors’ casting in the third Ant-Man film broke in late 2020, with many expressing curiosity about the then-rising actor reportedly taking on the role of Kang the Conqueror. From there, Majors made his MCU debut as a Kang variant named He Who Remains during Loki Season 1, and he later reprised that role and portrayed Victor Timely in Season 2. In addition to playing Kang in Quantumania, Majors also appeared as the variants Rama-Tut, Centurion and Immortus during the film’s mid-credits scene.

Jonathan Majors has since revealed that he wrote a letter to Kevin Feige in the aftermath of the verdict coming down. Not only that, but Majors expressed interest in returning as Kang. Still, Feige and co. are now fully on track to bring Doctor Doom to life once more on the big screen. Regardless of how everything ultimately shakes out, I’m just glad to finally have some clarity regarding Doom’s entrance and Kang’s exit.

Majors is clear in the interview, as he has been before, that if Marvel ever asked him to return, he would. But whether or not he appears in an upcoming Marvel movie remains to be seen.

From the looks of it, the MCU is going to completely drop the Kang plot line that we'd been following for years. While Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom will no doubt be thrilling, I think it's a misstep to drop yet another plot point for the shared universe. We've seen a lot of this in Phases Four and Five, and it's starting to really grind my gears.

For example, world-changing consequences happened during Eternals, which was only recently addressed in Captain America 4. A slew of characters were introduced during movies' credits scene as well, and have never been seen or heard from again.

While the next two Avengers movies don't NEED Kang, I thin it would help restore faith in the MCU if the character was simply recast, rather than being retconned out of existence. We've seen characters recast before, so it's not like audiences wouldn't be able to adjust. And with the multiverse in play, it stands to reason that certain Kang variants wouldn't look like Jonathan Majors.

The next MCU movie hitting theaters is Thunderbolts* on May 2nd as part of the 2025 movie release list. We'll just have to wait and see if Kang ever actually pops back up in the shared universe.

For a while now, the public has been following Jonathan Majors' timeline of legal issues. At the height of his career, the 35 year-old actor was arrested and charged for abuse against his ex Grace Jabbari, and the story has unfolded for years. Majors was fired by Marvel from the role of Kang seemingly as a result, and the actor has been working at a professional comeback. But amidst those attempts, a recording of him seemingly admitting to abusing her has come to light.

This latest twist comes to us from Rolling Stone, which was acquired a previously unreleased audio recording of Jonathan Majors and Grace Jabbari. It reportedly dates back to shortly after their 2022 conflict, with the Creed III star seemingly contrite about what happened. He was quoted saying:

That's when Grace Jabbari is reportedly heard interrupting, saying "You strangled me and pushed me against the car." Per the outlet, Majors responded by saying:

This can arguably be called an admission, and would stand in stark juxtaposition to the previously messaging by the actor's legal team. Of course, Majors was famously found guilty in the assault case brought to court by his ex.

Majors' lawyers didn't immediately respond for a comment from the news outlet, but the public will likely be paying attention to see if either his or Jabbari's teams respond to this newly released footage.

As previously mentioned, the actor has seemingly been on a bit of a career revival as of late. Jonathan Majors' landed his first post-trial movie role back in June, and his performance in the drama film Magazine Dreams has been getting some praise online. A casting director claimed Majors could end up with more gigs as a result of this movie, but that was before this latest update to his long legal battle. We'll just have to see if this latest update ends up hurting those professional efforts.

While Majors was still able to make money thanks to the convention circuit, as he'd famously played Kang in Marvel projects like Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. He also had notable roles in Creed III and the supernatural TV series Lovecraft Country (which is streaming with a Max subscription). So there's plenty of folks out there who would love a meet and greet and/or autograph from the actor.

Once positioned as the next major villain in a slate of upcoming Marvel movies, he's been officially fired from his Kang role and dropped by major studios and, with that, he's been fighting for his professional future. Yet, with Magazine Dreams—a film that once had strong Oscar buzz—finally set for release a Hollywood casting director is weighing in on whether the movie’s success could revive Majors' career.

The 35-year-old actor was the subject of a recently released feature story from the The Hollywood Reporter. As part of that, a "prominent" casting director was interviewed and explained that while mainstream studios likely won’t reconsider the former A-lister anytime soon, independent producers might:

That last point stands out. Hollywood has usually been pretty good at giving actors with past controversies another shot. However, the landscape is changing, especially after the #MeToo movement.

On April 19, following Jonathan Majors' arrest for assault, Variety reported that several unnamed women had come forward with allegations of abuse and are cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney's office regarding this matter. However, the embattled actor’s lawyer disputed the report, stating that the "story is baseless and lacks foundation," and expressed confidence in Majors' innocence. When it came to his legal case with ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, Majors was found guilty on two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault.

Ultimately, nearly every project of the actors was canceled, and Searchlight removed the Magazine Dreams from its calendar completely. The domestic distribution rights were eventually acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment after the former studio dropped the film.

According to the casting director, something to consider is how Black actors are treated in the industry. The industry insider talked about just how different the experiences are for Black actors compared to white actors embroiled in controversy, saying:

This brings up a bigger point of discussion that's still talked about: a lot of Black performers see their careers take a hit because of controversies, while white actors often get second chances in similar situations. Examples that have been brought up before are Mel Gibson's legal troubles or Josh Brolin getting arrested for domestic assault back in 2004. Brolin and Gibson have since managed to keep their careers going despite those serious allegations.

Jonathan Majors finds himself in a difficult position. He still has some supporters within the industry, but his reputation has suffered significantly, making it challenging for him to regain Hollywood's trust.

The Devotion star is still attached to a few upcoming independent projects, including the revenge thriller Merciless, but his long-term career prospects remain uncertain. His performance in Magazine Dreams—a grueling character study about an aspiring bodybuilder—has been widely praised by those who have seen it. Still, its box office and critical reception will ultimately determine how audiences (and the industry) react.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen mixed results following the epic finale of Avengers: Endgame. There have been some incredible wins like the recent Deadpool & Wolverine, as well as significant flops like The Marvels. However, the biggest hit the brand has taken in recent years is it needing to revamp the structure of the current and upcoming MCU phase following the decision to part ways with actor Jonathan Majors.

Majors had been a hot commodity in Hollywood when it was revealed he would play Kang, the major antagonist of the next three phases of the MCU. He appeared in multiple films and the Disney+ Marvel series to set up his story, but following his brush with legal issues and allegations, that plan was seemingly down the drain.

However, a recent rumor claimed that we might actually see Majors' Kang again. It was reported Marvel chief Kevin Feige was considering a return for Majors as a way to wrap up the Kang storyline, but now a competing report says that's not the case. So, what's going on?

Jonathan Majors Is Reportedly Not Coming Back To The MCU

The rumors that Marvel and Majors might find common ground were certainly intriguing. However, anybody hoping to see more of Kang the Conquerer may be up the creek, as TMZ is reporting multiple sources in the know have told them that no such talks have taken place. Apparently, Marvel is currently not considering bringing Majors back.

While it wouldn’t be entirely shocking for Marvel and Majors to work together again down the road, it certainly seems unlikely that such a thing would be happening in the short term. Marvel Studios has already moved on from Kang, bringing in Robert Downey Jr. to play Dr. Doom. Marvel is reportedly paying Downey a lot of money, so even if there’s a chance to bring Majors back, we likely wouldn’t see that happen until the current story has concluded.

Why Jonathan Majors Lost His Role As Kang

Majors’ legal problems go back to March 2023, when the actor was charged with multiple counts of assault stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend. He was dropped from several ad campaigns as well as a film following the allegations. However, while there were rumors the studio was considering dropping Majors, Marvel initially reserved judgment.

It was only in December 2023, after Majors had been found guilty of assault, that Marvel Studios announced it was parting ways with the actor. He was only sentenced to a year of counseling, but he suffered far greater consequences professionally.

Initially, there were reports Marvel would simply recast Kang and continue with the existing story. Instead, the decision was made to pivot entirely. It's unclear if Kang will even be referenced going forward. If not, it might leave a door open to use the character in the future.

Majors' career has started to pick up, however slightly. His film Magazine Dreams, which was seen as a potential Oscar contender prior to the allegations, is finally getting released. It’s impossible to guess what the future may hold. Maybe a return to the MCU or Jonathan Majors is possible, but it’s not happening right now.

But he'll return to the big screen in the New Year with Magazine Dreams, and producer/ exec Tom Ortenberg spoke to THR about his excitement about both the project and Majors' performance. As he put it:

There you have it. While some studios might be reticent of getting involved with Jonathan Majors because of the controversy surrounding him, that's not how Ortenberg sees it. Instead, he thinks the quality of Magazine Dreams, especially Majors' performance. And it should be interesting to see if the moviegoing public agrees.

While his career is Majors, he's still making money through festival appearances. And Magazine Dreams has the opportunity to start real comeback momentum. Later in the same interview, Ortenberg spoke about how the 35 year-old actor will factor into the movie's press tour, saying:

There you have it. It sounds like the actor's career isn't quite over, despite hi s legal issues and firing from Marvel Studios. And in addition to Magazine Dreams, Majors landed his first post-trial role recently. So maybe things are looking up.

Magazine Dreams is expected to arrive in theaters on January 31st.

Almost a year ago, Jonathan Majors’ time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to an unceremonious end when Marvel Studios fired him after he was found guilty of assault and harassment charges. This was just one of many professional setbacks the actor has dealt with after he was arrested in early 2023 for physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Now the ex-Kang the Conqueror actor , who was sentenced to “one year of domestic violence counseling,” has found a new way to bring in the big bucks as his acting opportunities have dried up.

Majors will appear this Saturday and Sunday at the Famous Monsters Festival, which is being held in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. If you’re attending the event, you’ll have the opportunity to get an autograph from him or a professional photo taken with him, with the former costing $140 each and the latter costing $160. It’s also mentioned on the Festival’s home page that he will not be taking table selfies.

Other celebrities attending the event include Star Trek’s George Takei, Lord of the Rings’ Andy Serkis and X-Men’s Tyler Mane, but as TMZ noted, this is a “far cry” from just a few years ago when Majors had not only been cast to play the main antagonist in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but had also garnered attention from movies like The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Da 5 Bloods and The Harder They Fall. Following the report’s publication, a representative for Majors told the outlet:

One could argue that 2023 was the biggest year of Jonathan Majors’ professional career. In addition to starring opposite Michael B. Jordan as Damian Anderson in Creed III, he also antagonized Scott Lang and his allies as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, then went on to star in Loki Season 2 as Victor Timely, another Kang variant. As seen in the Quantumania mid-credits scene, the stage was being set for numerous versions of Kang to wreak havoc on the Marvel multiverse. This would have come to a head in what was then known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

However, now that’s all been swept away. Now Marvel has instead tapped Robert Downey Jr. to play Doctor Doom, who will take over as the villain in the fifth and sixth Avengers movies, resulting in The Kang Dynasty being retitled as Doomsday. Supposedly the disappearance of the Kangs will be addressed in an upcoming Marvel movie when it’s shared that the Time Variance Authority stopped them before they ignited a multiversal war. It was also rumored in late July that originally Deadpool & Wolverine was supposed to show Paradox collecting anchor beings from different universes in order to form an army to battle the Council of Kangs.

Along with his Marvel ousting, Jonathan Majors’ Magazine Dreams still has yet to be released to the public following its world premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. Currently the only project the actor has lined up is the revenge thriller Merciless, which is being directed by Martin Villeneuve. As such, it’s understandable why he’s attending this convention, though I have to wonder how many of the attendees will be willing to shell out for the costs of his autographs and pictures.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine, one that is constantly expanding thanks to projects hitting theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Those of us who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that the studio was setting up Kang to be the next Thanos-level threat to the MCU. But Jonathan Majors' firing threw a wrench into those plans, and now the next Avengers movie will be titled Doomsday and centered around Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. And a wild new rumor indicates how the MCU will reportedly move on from Kang.

What we know about Avengers: Doomsday is limited, but it's a clear sign that Kang is no longer going to be the big villain of the MCU. Fans had been wondering about this ever since Majors' legal issues went viral. And a new rumor reported by CBM claims that the strategy to retcon Kang is simply for him to stop appearing altogether.

Per this report, an upcoming Marvel movie will confirm that Loki's Time Variance Authority successful in pruning Kang's variants before they could unite and begin an all-out multiversal war. Alas, it seems that Ant-Man 3's credits scene involving all the variants was a narrative that never got to be completed. That is, assuming these rumors are true.

Of course, we should probably take this report with a grain of salt for the time being... at least until official word comes from Marvel Studios. Still, Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is supposed to be the big villain of the next two Avengers movies (which will also feature the return of The Russo Brothers). But since The Kang Dynasty has been renamed to Doomsday, the hints are obvious that the MCU might be dropping the multiversal villain as a character/ plot point.

Kang simply being handled off camera would definitely be a bold swing, especially since his role was built up throughout two season of Loki as well as Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. After Majors' legal issues went viral, some fans thought Marvel might replace Jonathan Majors with another actor, and therefore continue the story of Kang. After all, the use of variants seemingly could have permitted a big change in his appearance. But now it seems like the MCU might simply be putting the entire story behind them without any real conclusion.

Of course, the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to Marvel as the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom might be so exciting that fans accept that Kang is no longer a thing. We'll just have to wait for the studio to make an official ruling, or some exposition reveals Kang's fate in the shared universe.

Marvel Studios shook up its status quo from the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic Con when it announced that the upcoming Marvel movie Avengers 5, which once was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, will now be called Avengers: Doomsday. The film will focus on the massive Marvel villain Victor Von Doom, who will be played by Robert Downey Jr., making his triumphant return to the MCU (and earning a hefty paycheck to do so). These moves had to happen because Jonathan Majors got himself into legal issues, forcing Marvel Studios to drop him as their planned Kang the Conqueror. Now, the actor is speaking out.

TMZ caught up with Jonathan Majors as he walked around in public in what seems to be Los Angeles. The outlet asked Majors how he felt about the news that Robert Downey Jr. had been cast as Doom, essentially taking Kang’s role in the MCU. And Majors candidly admitted:

Jonathan Majors had been able to play Kang in a handful of Marvel properties that were building him up to be the Big Bad of the Multiverse Saga. His backstory was explored in depth during two seasons of Loki, available with a Disney+ subscription. And then he got more of a chance to shine as the main villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. But after being found guilty of harassment and third-degree reckless assault, Majors was dropped by Marvel.

TMZ went on the ask Majors if he thought it was fair that actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller continued to receive work after their own legal issues, while he lost the job of Kang. And he replied:

Being interviewed by TMZ while trying to walk is not an ideal situation for any Hollywood personality. But Jonathan Majors remained diplomatic when asked by TMZ if he thought he’d ever get another opportunity to come back and play Kang in a future MCU project. The industry was quick to think up replacements for him as Kang, but Majors hopes he’s keeping the door open, saying:

For the time being, the MCU seems to be moving towards The Fantastic Four, mutants, the Multiverse, and Doctor Doom as the main threat for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The studio has been riding high on the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, and they are refocusing creatively on massive movie projects and exciting upcoming Marvel shows. Kang might be part of Marvel’s future. As for Majors, we shall see.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has spent over a decade dominating pop culture, with new projects coming to theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. After being the most highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movie in years, Deadpool & Wolverine finally hit theaters and has been crushing at the box office. The movie is success, but we just found out how Deadpool 3 was reportedly factoring in Kang before Jonathan Majors’ firing.

The critical response to Deadpool & Wolverine has been overwhelmingly positive, as has the fan reaction. But the movie was a long time coming, and a number of different versions came and go throughout the development, writing, and filming process. Scooper Daniel Richtman is known for revealing behind the scenes info about the MCU, and alleged a way that Kang was originally going to be mentioned during the recent blockbuster. In his words:

Well, my mind is blown. If this rumor is true, it makes a great deal of sense. Kang was meant to be the next Thanos-level threat to the MCU prior to Jonathan Majors' legal issues and eventual conviction. And since Deadpool & Wolverine was a multiversal story that included Loki's TVA and Alioth, it's a logical next step to at least mention Kang by name.

One of the main villains of Deadpool & Wolverine is Mr. Paradox, played by Succession icon Matthew Macfadyen. While he originally seems to have good intentions, it quickly becomes clear that he's out for himself. And collecting variants to take on Kang and his forces is on way he might have fooled Wade Wilson into thinking he was one of the good guys.

After appearances in Loki and Ant-Man 3, it definitely seemed like Kang and his army of variants were going to be dangerous. The next Avengers movie was originally titled The Kang Dynasty, although that's been scrapped and replaced by Avengers: Doomsday.... complete with RDJ playing Doctor Doom. With Marvel seemingly abandoning that major plot point, Kang no longer factored into the events of Deadpool & Wolverine.

It should be interesting to see if the MCU ever acknowledges Jonathan Majors' character again, or if it simply moves on. The credits scene of Ant-Man 3 showed off a legion of variants, which seemed like disaster for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Alas, it seems like the studio moved on rather than choosing an actor who could replace Majors as Kang.

We'll just have to see if this rumor about Deadpool 3 and Kang ends up being confirmed by Ryan Reynolds or anyone in power at Marvel. In the meantime, check out the 2025 movie release dates to plan your trips to the theater next year.

Jonathan Majors was found guilty during his assault trial back in December after he was arrested over a conflict with his ex Grace Jabbari, and he was sentenced to a year of domestic violence counseling. In the months before and after this decision was made, he was not seen on screen and he was dropped from multiple projects. Now, he's landed his first role following the verdict as he's set to star in the revenger thriller Merciless from Martin Villeneuve.

The actor will lead the film, and he'll be working with Denis Villeneuve's younger brother Martin, who directed Mars et Avril, Deadline reported. 

The project is about a CIA interrogator who is out to defeat a force that overtook the woman he loves. Villeneuve provided an explanation about what this film will be about, saying:

Work on the film will begin in the late fall, and they'll shoot it in Saskatchewan.

Christopher Tuffin, who was integral in the success of Sound of Freedom, has developed the film and will produce it. The article noted that this project should be "demonstrative" of his new global media venture which, in his words "refuses to let the court of public opinion and selective prosecution undermine great art and artists."

As stated earlier, this movie will mark Majors’ first role since he was charged and arrested in March 2023 for “several counts of assault in the third degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count harassment in the second degree,” Variety reported. 

Before all of this happened, Majors’ star was on the rise, big time. In the same year all this happened, the actor released three projects – Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania, Creed III and Loki Season 2. His film Magazine Dreams also premiered at Sundance, but has not been released. Since then, he hasn’t worked on anything, and – with the exception of Merciless – doesn't have any upcoming projects, per IMDb. 

While Majors’ legal issues played out, he was dropped from multiple ad campaigns and Marvel let him go shortly after the verdict was released. Another film of his, Magazine Dreams, was also taken off Searchlight’s release calendar. His career trajectory changed dramatically, and it will likely impact his work forever. 

It’s unclear when Merciless will come out. However, with it beginning production in the late fall, it’s possible that it could end up on the 2025 movie schedule. As we learn more about this film as well as Jonathan Majors’ ongoing legal issues, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Actor Jonathan Majors was on top of the world professionally, before he was arrested and charged with assault and harassment. The public followed as Majors was found guilty, and now he's officially been sentenced by the judge presiding over the case. 

This bombshell news comes to us from Variety, which reports that the actor was "sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling." So while there were originally concerns that he might be facing potential jail time, he's avoided that. Instead, he'll have to go to mandatory counseling related to the conflict with his ex Grace Jabbari which got him arrested. 

Despite being the victor in court, Jabbari also issued a cautionary statement about Majors before his sentencing was revealed. The victim impact statement reads:

Clearly there are very strong feelings associated with this case, given the stakes and various allegations that have been tossed around. Grace Jabbari seems to think that Majors is capable of more violence, so she presumably would have liked a harsher punishment for the Lovecraft Country actor. 

While Majors won't be going to jail and instead was sentenced to mandatory counseling, he is no doubt feeling other repercussions related to this case. His career came to a screeching halt as a result of being charged with assault and harassment. And shortly after he was found guilty, Marvel officially cut ties with the actor, leading to questions about how the shared universe will handle his character Kang. And as such, fans are wondering if another actor might replace Majors as Kang for upcoming Marvel movies. Only time will tell.

After being found guilty of harassment and third-degree reckless assault, he faces up to a year in prison. Additionally, his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, is now suing him as well. Jabbari, who dated the actor and was embroiled in the assault trial, is seeking damages over alleged defamation, assault and battery and malicious prosecution. 

It remains to be seen just how much time Jonathan Majors is handed by the judge. What seems evident right now, though, is that Meagan Good intends to remain by his side. And, as she stays with him, it appears she, in turn, has her sister’s support as well.

Nearly one year after he was arrested on assault, strangulation and harassment charges, Jonathan Majors legal issues remain in play. The embattled actor stood trial for assault near the end of 2023, and the case ended with Majors being found guilty of harassment and third-degree reckless assault. At present, the actor is awaiting his sentencing hearing, which is set to happen in a little less than a month. In the interim, Majors (who's also taken some professional hits) is now facing yet another legal challenge, as his ex-girlfriend – who was at the center of his trial – is now suing him.

Grace Jabbari, who was in a relationship with the former Marvel actor for two years, is reportedly suing her ex over acts he allegedly committed while they were involved. Rolling Stone obtained documents from the filing, which show that Jabbari is taking legal action over alleged assault and battery, defamation and malicious prosecution. Upon this turn of events, Jabbari’s attorney shared a statement with the news outlet. Brittany Henderson made note of her client’s “bravery” and seemingly expressed confidence in their case being successful: 

A noted dancer and movement coach who worked on Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the plaintiff reportedly filed the suit in New York on Tuesday. Her suit reportedly lays out five causes of action, which include the three aforementioned offenses. The documents include the claim that Jonathan Majors was abusive towards Grace Jabbari at multiple points after they became acquainted on the set of the superhero movie in 2021. 

One alleged situation that’s chronicled reportedly took place in London in September 2022. At the time, the Creed III star supposedly threw his-then girlfriend on the hood of a car and shut her mouth as she tried to call for help. It’s also said that when they arrived home later, he strangled her, banged her head against the marble floor and threatened to kill her. Per the suit, the plaintiff could "barely move without pain … [and] have a constant ringing headache."

Legal representatives of Grace Jabbari also argue that the Magazine Dreams star defamed their client by making false declarations about her. Via the docs, they specifically called out the actor’s interview on ABC News, during which he said that he “never hit a woman” and that his “hands have never struck a woman.” (During that same interview, he also got candid about the moment the verdict came down in court.)

The actor’s ex and her team were notably prevented from sharing allegations from past situations during the assault trial. Though as Rolling Stone notes, the purported 2022 incident in London was brought up (briefly) at a point.

Grace Jabbari, who’s since responded to the assault verdict, is reportedly aiming to receive punitive and compensatory damages, with the ultimately monetary amount yet to be determined. Jonathan Majors’ team has yet to issue a formal response to Jabbari’s lawsuit, as of this writing. He’s currently set to return to court for his sentencing hearing on April 8.

Jonathan Majors’ future in Hollywood is still very much an open question, but the actor returned to the red carpet over the weekend with his partner Meagan Good, attending the NAACP Image Awards, putting himself back in the limelight for one of the first times since the Loki actor was convicted of assault, and ahead of his planned sentencing next month.

At this point, it’s unclear if Majors will be recast or if the entire storyline will shift into something else.

Another Disney-related project starring Majors, Magazine Dreams is also sitting in limbo as the film has been completed but was removed from the list of upcoming Disney movies, amidst the actor’s legal issues. At this point, the film has no release date and it’s unclear if, never mind when we might ever see it. Majors currently has no projects on the 2024 release schedule or beyond.

There is a motion to set aside the verdict in front of the New York judge, so there is the slightest possibility that all this could end up in Jonathan Majors' past before sentencing. One way or another, Majors' future will be decided once sentencing is announced.

Whether he’s after a new superhero gig or is looking for something totally new to add to his resume, the precise timing of this could be impacted by the results of his sentencing, so we we'll have to wait and see what happens.

It goes without saying that the actor is no stranger to ramping up his physique for a film role. Back in 2022, he got ripped for Creed III, and the Internet was swooning over him at the time. Not only that, but he carried that physique into other flicks like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and (the yet-to-be-released) Magazine Dreams.

If this latest alleged opportunity comes to fruition (and depending on the scope of it), it would be the first major production that the star would be part of in over a year. Box office champ Creed III was released back in March of 2023 and was a hit with viewers and critics. The star debuted as Kang the Conqueror and was set to play the role in future Marvel movies. Prior to his arrest and eventual firing, Jonathan Majors played Kang in both seasons of Loki, as well as as the main antagonist in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. And with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty coming down the line, the studio is presumably going to need a replacement sooner rather than later. 

Later in that same interview, Colman Domingo spoke more about the concept of playing Kang. He revealed he's had some talks with Marvel studios, although it doesn't seem like anything is official just yet. As he put it:

Well, that's intriguing. It sounds like the Fear the Walking Dead actor is down to clown and join the MCU. But it's unclear if that'll happen as Kang or in another role entirely. It seems like he doesn't want to necessarily be involved in the ongoing discourse surrounding Jonathan Majors.

Since Kang was expected to be the next Thanos-level threat to the MCU as a whole, this is a huge shakeup. The studio has been setting up the character for a few years now, which would likely have come to a head with the appropriately titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The studio's plans for the character remain a mystery for the time being, although fans have been debating who could replace Majors as Kang.

Following that up, it was reported a few days ago that the actor has apparently been dropped from the Dennis Rodman biopic that is in the works. Today, word has arrived that Majors' big title from the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, Magazine Dreams, has lost its distributor.

Following its festival premiere last January, Magazine Dreams was picked up for distribution by Searchlight Pictures, and there was a plan in place to have the film be released in early December (setting the title up as a contender during awards season). The movie was taken off the release calendar in October amid Majors' legal issues, and The Hollywood Reporter is now saying that the indie arm of Walt Disney Studios has "quietly returned rights of the movie to the filmmakers." The trade says that the plan isn't to shelve the movie, but instead to shop it to other potential buyers.

Magazine Dreams is the second feature film from writer/director Elijah Bynum, and it provides a dark look into the world of bodybuilding. Jonathan Majors plays Killian Maddox, an aspiring bodybuilder who is wholly obsessed with his goals and has emotional issues that are exacerbated by regular steroid usage. The movie's supporting cast includes Haley Bennett, Taylour Paige, Mike O'Hearn, Harrison Page and Harriet Sansom Harris.

I had the chance to personally see the movie virtually covering the Sundance Film Festival last year, and I wrote in my festival review that the movie presented Jonathan Majors with his "Travis Bickle moment" akin to Tom Hardy in Bronson, Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler, and Joaquin Phoenix in Joker. It's a grim film that features a disturbing turn from its lead actor, and it's a movie that would likely have been discussed in this year's Best Actor Oscar race if not for Major's actions and the fallout.

Magazine Dreams is the only work that Jonathan Majors has completed that has not yet been released. Following the movie's Sundance premiere in 2023, Majors made his big screen debut as Kang The Conqueror in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, and a few weeks later he starred opposite Michael B. Jordan as the antagonist in Creed III. Audiences last got to see him in episodes of Loki Season 2, which premiered on Disney+ this past fall. His future in Hollywood is unclear.

However, the news site stated that multiple sources told them he would no longer be part of the project. While it reported that the actor has “not yet officially been dropped” from the movie, it stated he will no longer be part of it either. A source close to the film told the outlet:

The film is set to show Dennis Rodman's trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA finals. This trip was infamous, and Majors was going to lead it as the former Chicago Bulls player. When news of his casting came out, he had said he “selfishly” wanted to play Rodman, because of how “eclectic” and “free” the basketball player is.  

Now, the Rodman film is reportedly being shopped around without Majors attached, according to two sources. Notably, another source said if the movie goes back to Lionsgate – the studio that bought it in 2021 and released it back to producers reportedly because of budget plans – the actor "will be let go."

This comes almost one month after Majors received a guilty verdict for assault and harassment charges that came in March. He was convicted of one count of third-degree reckless assault as well as a non-criminal charge of harassment following the trial against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. There were other charges against him as well, but he was acquitted of another assault charge and a count of aggravated harassment.

While Majors won’t be continuing his work with Marvel or on this Rodman project, his other projects remain “in flux,” a source claimed. 

Since the charges in March, Majors has faced many legal issues and allegations. Right after the news broke in the first third of 2023, the U.S. Army paused its campaign with the former Marvel star. He was also dropped by his managers and PR team. Along with that, like this movie about Dennis Rodman, the Creed 3 actor was removed from The Man in my Basement cast and his film Magazine Dreams was taken off Searchlight’s calendar. 

That all happened before the verdict came. Afterward, Marvel dropped him as Kang. Now, folks are waiting to see if they will replace Majors in the MCU or find a totally new big bad. 

This trial has had a significant impact on Jonathan Majors’ career, and as stated above, he’s been dropped from numerous projects, including this film about Dennis Rodman.

During the conversation, 42-year-old Meagan Good – who Jonathan Majors has been dating for months now – came up. The actor described Good as “an angel” and said that she’s held him down “like a Coretta.” He finished the thought by saying that he’s blessed to have her. The high-profile interview isn’t the only time at which Jonathan Majors has mentioned the matriarch of the King family. Amid the assault trial, audio recordings of conversations between the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania alum and Grace Jabbari were released. In one instance, Majors asserted that Jabbari needed to be more like Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama. 

While much of the focus remains on the actor’s legal woes, there’s also been a lot of attention centered around his relationship with fellow superhero movie veteran Meagan Good. One possibility is the role will simply be recast, with Colman Domingo rumored to be the top contender for the role. As it turns out, Domingo once expressed interest in playing a Marvel villain, so could this strengthen his chances of becoming the new Kang.

2021 was a big year for the actor, as he appeared in Without Remorse, The God Committee and Candyman. Ahead of that first movie’s release, Domingo, who’s also well known for playing Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead, was interviewed by AwardsWatch, and towards the end of the conversation, he said the following when asked if he would accept a role in Captain Marvel 2 (which would come to be known as The Marvels) if director Nia DaCosta, who also helmed Candyman, offered it to him:

If Colman Domingo is looking to do some “really dirty, nasty work,” then his wish would certainly be granted if he took over as Kang the Conqueror. In addition to being one of the Avengers’ greatest adversaries in the comics, Kang has been established as the overarching antagonist of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, just like how Thanos served as the Infinity Saga’s big bad. Big things were ahead for Jonathan Majors in the franchise, so now that we have this reminder that Domingo is interested in playing a villain, perhaps this improves the odds of him filling those Kang shoes.

The MCU is certainly no stranger to re-castings, with some of the biggest examples including Don Cheadle taking over as James Rhodes/War Machine from Terrence Howard, and Mark Ruffalo taking over as Bruce Banner/The Hulk from Edward Norton. Kang, however, would be an especially interesting case given how Domingo wouldn’t just be playing one character, but rather multiple versions of the same character. In Loki, Jonathan Majors appeared as the He Who Remains and Victor Timely variants. In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he chiefly played a more traditional Kang, although the threequel’s end-credits scenes introduced many other versions of the antagonist, including Mr. Timely ahead of Loki Season 2.

Officially speaking though, it hasn’t been clarified if Marvel Studios will stick with its original Kang plans and find a new actor to play him or if there’s a major creative pivot coming. It is worth mentioning that in late November 2023, Michael Waldron took over Avengers: The Kang Dynasty scripting duties, and he’d already been tapped to write Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s entirely possible that Marvel may want to move away from Kang and find a new villain to head those next two Avengers movies, in which case Waldron has some heavy rewrites ahead of him, and we’d need to think of a different antagonistic role for Colman Domingo to tackle.

We’ll keep our ears open for any rumblings about what will be done with Kang the Conqueror next following Jonathan Majors’ ousting, including, of course, if Colman Domingo inherits the role. A new rumor circulating online (via ComicBook) is that the great Colman Domingo is the actor the studio is approaching. As such, his replacement needs to be a versatile actor who can carve out variants of the same character for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. 

Colman Domingo has had a long career in film and stage, winning an Emmy for his role in Euphoria and being nominated for both a Tony and Olivier award. Other credits include his recent role in the new The Color Purple, as well as AMC's Fear The Walking Dead. Because of how talented and versatile he is, he definitely has the chops to play Kang in an upcoming Marvel movie or two.

Of course, this is just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being. Still, Colman Domingo seems like a great choice to play Kang... as long as he's interested in the gig. Another popular choice by fans was John Boyega, who made it clear he has no interest in taking on the role. Only time will tell how it all shakes out, but Marvels are going to be invested and theorizing about Kang's future until the studio finally reveals it's plans.

Earlier this week, Jonathan Majors was found guilty by a New York jury on two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment, as well as found “not guilty on one of the counts in assault in the third degree” and aggravated harassment in the second degree. Although the actor won’t be sentenced until February 6, 2024, the assault charge, while a misdemeanor, carries with it a maximum sentence of up to one year in prison. So will Majors end up getting jail time? A criminal defense lawyer from the Big Apple has spoken out about the possibilities for the former Kang the Conqueror performer.

Cary London, a civil rights and criminal defense attorney at the Manhattan firm Shulman & Hill, spoke with THR about what the likeliest sentencing outcome is for Majors in a few months, with London believing that it’s almost guaranteed that he won’t end up behind bars. In the attorney’s words:

Other legal experts the publication spoke to noted that Jonathan Majors’ legal team will “likely appeal the conviction,” and it was also observed that this was a case that “has already had several unusual steps along the way.” London specifically said it’s “extremely rare” for a misdemeanor case, particularly one involving domestic violence, to go to trial in New York, as defendants often plead guilty to a lesser charge in order to avoid a harsher sentence. 

However, other attorneys, like Kate Mangel from the Los Angeles-based Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP, and Mark Geragos from Geragos & Geragos (which is also in LA), attributed Majors’ case going to court stemming from his celebrity status and, as Mangel put it, “hoped that a public trial rather than a plea deal would clear his name.” That did not end up happening, so now we wait to see if London is correct about if Majors won’t serve any jail time.

Whether or not that ends up happening, Jonathan Majors is already facing consequences from this verdict. As indicated earlier, mere hours after Jonathan Majors’ guilty verdict was read, Marvel Studios fired him, meaning we won’t be seeing anymore of him in the MCU following his appearances as various versions of Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki’s two seasons. The problem is that Kang has been positioned as a major player for the rest of this franchise’s Multiverse Saga, as best exemplified by the fifth Avengers movie being officially titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

As such, it’s unclear how The Kang Dynasty will be handled going forward, with options ranging from Kang simply being recast, to a new character taking on Kang’s mantle, to the movie’s entire story being overhauled, which would almost certainly impact Avengers: Secret Wars too. Outside of the MCU, Majors was also set to wrap up his film run this year with Magazine Dreams, but that flick was pulled from the 2023 movies schedule in October, and there hasn’t been any word about if it will ever be released.

She also thanked the organization for their help, presumably connected to her legal battle with Majors. One has to imagine that they've been getting a ton of donations as a result of this viral post on IG story.

He's expected to be sentenced in the New Year on February 6th, and smart money says that all eyes will once again be on the former pair when this occurs.

This would be perhaps the most drastic option, but one that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. After all, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is still very early in its development stage, so the narrative could be shifted. What's more, Avengers 5 just got a new writer.

Knowing the threat that Kang(s) are to all of the timelines, I could see a future where what's left of the TVA takes the time to prune every version of Jonathan Majors' signature character. Only time will tell what Kevin Feige and company ultimately decide with the actor now out of that role.

The final, and perhaps most logical, option is to simply have another actor replace Jonathan Majors as Kang. There's plenty of outstanding talent out there, and becoming the MCU's next Thanos sounds like a dream job. And it's quite an acting challenge to play multiple variants of the same character. We've seen major villains recast recently, with Mads Mikkelsen playing Johnny Depp's character Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3.

Of course, some actors might be reticent to take on the role given Jonathan Majors' legal issues. The actor already played him throughout Ant-Man 3 as well as two season of Loki, so there are some big shoes to fill. Add in any personal relationship that Majors might have with possible replacement, and it adds another interesting wrinkle to the situation.

This update comes to us from Variety, which describes Marvel cutting ties with Majors as “the most high-profile professional consequence of Majors’ arrest to date.” Other consequences that have hit the actor since this legal saga started unfolding in early 2023 include his talent agency dropping him and the U.S. Army pulling its ad campaign that centered on him, to name just a couple. Still, Marvel’s move doesn’t come as a complete shock, as it was rumored in November that the company was looking to distance itself from Majors.

Jonathan Majors debuted in the MCU in the Loki Season 1 finale as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror who established the Time Variance Authority and took drastic actions to ensure another multiversal war between the other Kangs didn’t break out. Then Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, one of the early 2023 movie releases, saw him play a more traditional version of Kang the Conqueror, although the Quantumania mid-credits scene teased just how many other version of the character were ready to cause trouble. Finally, there was Loki Season 2, where in addition to briefly reprising He Who Remains, Majors played Victor Timely, a more benevolent Kang variant from late 19th century America who was first teased in Quantumania’s end-credits scene.

Marvel Studios now finds itself in a difficult position, because at least one of the biggest upcoming Marvel movies, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, was obviously going to heavily feature Majors, and it’s likely he would have played a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars too. There are now two options the company needs to consider: simply recast Kang and move forward with its original plan, or refocus on a new villain to take center stage in The Multiverse Saga, akin to Thanos snagging the limelight during The Infinity Saga.

Needless to say if the latter is picked, not only will that require the fifth Avengers movie to be retitled, more importantly, the script to be completely overhauled. But again, if a new actor simply takes over as the many versions of Kang, this won’t be an issue, especially considering that Spider-Man: No Way Home established that not all variants look exactly the same. As of late November, Loki’s Michael Waldron has taken over writing duties on Kang Dynasty, and he’s also been attached to Secret Wars since October 2022.

The unnamed person even goes as far as to say that the ongoing court case has helped to tighten the bond between the two actors. The news outlet’s informants add that it’s difficult to think how the Creed III actor might’ve held up throughout this process without having Good’s shoulder to lean on. Their shared faith in God has purportedly also helped them as they've navigated this situation.

The Shazam! Fury of the Gods alum was reportedly present to hear the testimony of Grace Jabbari – Jonathan Majors’ ex who’s accused him of assault. Another insider alleged to TMZ that the actress was not too pleased with the sentiments Jabbari shared while on the stand. Apparently, they run counter to everything she’s known about Majors. The text messages between Majors and Jabbari that have been shared by prosecutors are also said to have the former child actress upset. They attended the Congressional Black Caucus’ Black and White Ball in September, where Majors seemed to hint that things are serious, based on the fact that he referred to his girlfriend as “the Mrs.”

The Kang the Conqueror actor’s court case stems from an incident that occurred in New York in March with (then-unnamed) Grace Jabbari. Jabbari claimed he assaulted her in the midst of an argument, causing injuries to her neck and head in the process. After the 34-year-old actor was arrested, Jabbari was granted a temporary restraining order. 

The trial was delayed multiple times, before it finally began on November 29 in New York and, since then, arguments have been made by both sides. When Grace Jabbari gave her testimony over a week ago, she shared her recollection of that night with her ex, making note of what she referred to as a “full-bodied experience of shock.”  At present, the Last Black Man in San Francisco star is facing two counts of misdemeanor assault and two counts of harassment. If found guilty, he could spend up to a year in prison. 

On Thursday, December 14, the jury began deliberating on the case but, as of this writing, they’ve yet to reach a verdict. Reports indicate that the trial is set to continue on Monday, December 18. While it remains to be seen if the decision will be in Jonathan Majors’ favor, it seems like he’ll have Meagan Good by his side as the ruling comes down.

During her testimony, she claimed she didn't want to be alone, which is why she went to a friend's birthday after her conflict with the Lovecraft Country actor. For her part, Jabbari turned herself in for assault due to the scuffle that occurred between the former couple. 

Only time will tell how things shake out in court, but smart money says that plenty of eyes will be watching how it all turns out. While this isn't expected to go quite as viral as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's legal battle, the allegations are serious and the stakes feel very high.

The first ruling Gaffey made is that the jury will get to hear evidence regarding the arrest of Grace Jabbari. The incident took place in October 2023 before all charges were swiftly dropped and the matter became “closed and sealed,” per AP. Jabbari was briefly arrested at a New York City police station on the evening of October 25 and charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief before the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office decided to decline prosecuting the case against her because it lacked “prosecutorial merit.” 

Gaffey shared with the court that he felt the information regarding Jabbari’s arrest “should be put before a jury” as they assess her assault claims against Jonathan Majors. Jabbari will also be allowed to testify during the trial. Thus far, Jabbari has recounted (via NBC News) how a “kind and loving” relationship that began on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, before claiming that it became abusive. She alleged that the altercation in question began when Majors found out she had confided in a friend regarding their relationship. On the other hand, Majors’ attorneys have claimed that Jabbari had instigated the altercation in his own countersuit against her. 

An Evidence Seal Will Be Enforced 

The second major ruling to occur thus far now that Jonathan Majors’ trial is underway is the enforcement of a seal on some sealed evidence against the actor. Judge Gaffey called the said evidence, which reportedly involves information on prior incidents against Majors, not only in the U.S. but extends his legal issues across the pond as “prejudicial and inflammatory” to the ongoing proceedings. 

The ruling benefits Majors more than Jabbari, as some of that evidence may have helped her prove her stance on the assault case. Since Jabbari made her claims back in March, Jonathan Majors has been dropped from various projects, including his critically-acclaimed film Magazine Dreams being dropped from Searchlight’s calendar altogether. There are also rumors that Marvel may be distancing itself from the actor and its intended Kang storyline.

Although she didn’t offer much more insight than that, so bring on the speculation and rumors.

It’s unclear if she means that Jonathan Majors will be replaced as Kang, or if the villain’s storyline will be avoided altogether. And since the studio itself has given no indication of parting ways with the Creed III actor yet, we should probably take this with a giant of salt. But all eyes are on what’s going to happen, especially with Majors’ trial expected to begin shortly. The legal situation was made all the more complicated because Majors may also be facing charges in the U.K.. Only time will tell how it all shakes out.

Joanna Robinson previously reports that Marvel knew it had an issue with Majors’ Kang, but was unable to write around it for Loki Season 2 due to the WGA Strike. Those fans who have been watching the Marvel movies in order know we’ve been building to his villainous role for years, which was expected to take center stage in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. We’ll just have to see if another Kang takes his place, or if that concept for the next Avengers movie is scrapped altogether. Majors’ legal issues are heating up, and he’s expected to go to trial in New York this month. But Rolling Stone revealed that he may be facing more legal issues in the U.K.. Because Met Police revealed to the publication that there’s currently an investigation surrounding Jonathan Majors across the pond. Specifically related to allegations of physical assaults that reportedly occurred around London in 2022. A spokesperson clarified the state of that investigation, offering:

While nothing is set in stone, this is yet another legal issue that may be following the Loki actor. Majors and his legal team have maintained his innocence, claiming he was actually the victim in the scuffle that occurred in New York with his ex. We’ll just have to wait and see if any charges are made in the U.K. while he faces the courts stateside.

There are constant updates about Jonathan Majors’ case in the states. Just last week Majors hit a setback when his attempt to have the charges dismissed. It looks like the trial will begin later this month, there will no doubt be plenty of eyes on how it all goes. Especially given how much give and take has already occurred between the legal teams of both Majors and his ex.

Inevitably, the ongoing actors strike was going to affect Hollywood’s production schedules, and even disrupt the slate of upcoming movies. We have already seen a number of anticipated 2023 movies bounce to 2024, including Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet’s Dune Part 2. Earlier today, Disney also moved two anticipated 2024 movies – Rachel Zegler’s controversial Snow White remake, and the next Pixar film – to 2025. Mixed in with the shuffle of that release date news was an updated on Magazine Dreams, writer-director Elijah Bynum’s feature film that earned raves out of the Sundance Film Festival. The movie no longer has a release date, and I’m beginning to think we’ll never see this movie in theaters. 

It’s not that Magazine Dreams was postponed from December 2023 to a pending 2024 date so that Jonathan Majors can do press when the SAG strike lifts. That’s basically why Snow White with Rachel Zegler was delayed. Magazine Dreams instead has been marked “Unset” on the release calendar for Searchlight. And given the ongoing legal issues facing Majors, it’s likely Bynum’s movie won’t get distribution. 

Majors was praised for his performance in Magazine Dreams, where he plays a man trying to break into the world of professional bodybuilding, while also taking care of his ailing grandfather. In his review of the film, CinemaBlend movie reviewer Eric Eisenberg wrote:

Unfortunately for Jonathan Majors, his off-screen actions have overshadowed his on-screen accomplishments. There has been a legal battle waged between Majors and an ex-girlfriend who has accused the actor of physical assault. His requests for a dismissal of his trial was rejected, and now he’s due in court on November 29. At the same time, Majors’s ex, Grace Jabbari, was arrested this week on misdemeanor charges tied to the assault on Majors. So the case is no closer to being resolved. 

And in the wake of this legal disarray, Searchlight has decided not to release Magazine Dreams in theaters for the time being. But that’s not all that’s happened recently related to the assault charges. Because TMZ revealed that Majors’ ex Grace Jabbari was just arrested this week. She was reportedly booked for misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief related to the scuffle with Majors that started their long legal battle. But there's a twist: the DA is reportedly not interested in pursuing charges for Jabbari. Clearly there’s a lot happening, and smart money says the trial will make plenty of headlines if it begins in November as planned.

This situation is ever-changing, and there have already been a number of twists and turns since news of Majors’ arrest first circulated in March. The domestic violence trial has already been pushed back a number of times, so it’s unclear if things will actually begin in November. Majors’ legal team has been hard at work during this time, and has attempted to poke holes in Jabbari’s story about what happened that night. That includes releasing footage that was reportedly from later that night, where she is seemingly uninjured.

The stakes definitely feel high for this case, with Jonathan Majors’ lawyers maintaining his career was “torn apart '' as a result of the allegations. Fans have been wondering how the controversy might affect his ongoing tenure in the MCU, with Majors currently appearing in Season 2 of Loki as Kang. Since the shared universe’s next big crossover event is titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, he’s presumably got a major role to play in what comes next.

Loki Season 2 was highly anticipated for a few reasons, and one of them was the fact that it would introduce yet another variant of Kang the Conqueror. Fans met the witty and unpredictable He Who Remains in Season 1 and a more tyrannical version of the villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Now, Disney+ subscribers are becoming acquainted with the warlord’s latest counterpart – 19th century scientist Victor Timely. All variations of the villain have been played by Jonathan Majors, who’s known to ad lib during a scene or two. And as it so happens, CinemaBlend learned that the actor found some “inspired” ways to improvise while filming his debut as Timely. 

The wily intellectual made his debut in the third episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe show’s second season, which was directed by Kasra Farahani. During the installment, Loki and Mobius traveled to the Chicago World’s Fair in order to track down Timely, who they needed to help fix their chaos at the Time Variance Authority. Simultaneously, former TVA operative Ravonna Renslayer and sneaky A.I. assistant Miss Minutes were also pursuing Victor, for their own purposes. Chaos ensued and, amid all of that, Jonathan Majors had a few moments to shine. During our conversation, Farahani, who also serves as the series’ production designer, commended a couple of off-the-cuff moments Majors had: 

Jonathan Majors certainly had plenty of space to play around during the third episode. The formally trained actor’s decision to add the dance-like movements and throw the orange organically added to Timely’s eccentric nature. Those moments actually don’t constitute the first instances of Majors adding an extra flourish to his work on the MCU series. Season 1 director Kate Herron previously revealed that Majors improvised the moment He Who Remains jumped on his desk while talking to Loki and Sylvie during the finale. These may seem like small additions, but they certainly add to an actor’s performance and in some cases, the narrative. 

The Creed III actor wasn’t the only actor Kasra Farahani had praise for during our interview. He shouted out most of his ensemble while speaking about improvisation and sent some particularly kind sentiments Owen Wilson’s way:

It’s no surprise this cast has received such acclaim since the show began its run in 2021. There’s no weak link in the chain, and Tom Hiddleston expertly sets the tone for the impeccable ensemble. One would hope that they’ll keep their pitch-perfect energy going as Season 2 continues. They, along with the devoted cast and crew, have been putting in serious work, and you can get a sense of that from the featurette below:

Moving forward, fans are surely curious to see what lies ahead for Victor Timely as well as Jonathan Majors, who’s been ensnared in legal complications. The star was arrested for alleged assault and harassment earlier this year and is currently awaiting trial. In regard to his Loki work, it’s been confirmed that his arrest did not impact Season 2. So at this point, viewers will see more of him as Timely on the show, and said appearances could feature more of his improv skills.
