After years of sequel speculation following 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level, I wasn’t sure we’d ever see another movie in the franchise. It didn’t feel real until Jumanji 4 got a real title (which is Open World) and the actors actually started filming. As a result, series co-lead Karen Gillan reunited with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart and the usual shenanigans ensued. However, this time, the actress’s return to set felt a little different now that she’s a mother to a young daughter, who had a major effect on her co-stars.

After having her baby, Gillan took a year off to focus on being a mother, but the actor came roaring back into acting with multiple projects. She even took little Clementine to meet her A-list co-stars. Funny enough, when Gillan brought her baby to the Jumanji set, Johnson, Black and Hart were huge suckers for the little one. The actress dished to Rayo:

Is it too much to hope that there’s some BTS footage of this adorableness? Hearing these stories makes me excited for the movie to come out, and it makes the prospect of its release feel more real after waiting for so long. The next film was teased with an interesting cliffhanger at the end of The Next Level, and fans will finally have answers when Open World comes out later this year as part of the 2026 movie schedule.

The Jumanji cast has been teasing fans since filming started, and this continued until a cute car selfie indicated the end of filming. However, Johnson said goodbye to his smoldering character with a fitting Robin Williams tribute. Even before that, Johnson revealed he was honoring Williams by wearing one of the dice used by his character, Alan Parrish, in the original 1995 film.

Meanwhile, Gillan found other ways to make the most of her return to acting aside from taking her daughter to set. The actor has been an absolute maniac on set, in the best way, with impromptu dance parties. These have become some of the most iconic BTS moments. It’s nice to see the Scottish star enjoying time back at work after recently opening up about how hard it can be to find a balance between acting and motherhood. She explained the difficulty she had:

Based on how Gillan describes it, I imagine her co-stars consider themselves lucky to have had a little visitor on set. I can only imagine how her presence brought out each of their dad sides. Perhaps dealing with her male scene partners gave her the experience she needed before having a small child? After all, Johnson has playfully described Gillan’s time on set as dealing with "three idiots."

As for wrapping Jumanji 4, Karen Gillan said that was an emotional experience. She described the original film as one of her "top three films" and, as someone who grew up with the movie, I completely get it. I'm excited to see what adventure the next film has in store for her character. And, hopefully, at some point, Gillan will release some videos of her co-stars hanging out with her baby.

Karen Gillan is definitely no stranger to massive film franchises, thanks to her work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the world of Jumanji. However, she’s now stepping into a very different kind of IP in the form of Highlander. Gillan has been tapped to play Heather MacLeod, the wife of Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod. Thus far, the actress has expressed a considerable amount of enthusiasm over getting to join this film series. Now, Gillan’s opening up about one aspect of the experience that she's truly obsessed with.

From my personal vantage point, Gillan is the kind of star who commits to a role, as her layered performance as Marvel’s Nebula alone is proof of that. When it comes to Highlander, though, it seems there’s an added layer of significance here. The fan-favorite actress recently spoke about that while chatting with Rayo and expressed her affection for the franchise’s original 1986 movie. From there, Gillan lovingly discussed the action film’s key link to her heritage:

So it would seem that the opportunity for Gillan to film this movie in her native country of Scotland is something she’s particularly obsessed with, and I can understand why. It’s natural for people to take pride in their place of origin and their culture as a whole. As for Gillan, her affection for the Highlands has truly been palpable through the lovely set photos she’s been sharing on social media amid principal photography. During her interview, Gillan further emphasized the novelty of getting to film in her “natural habitat”:

Speaking of colliding, some truly awesome actors are going to come to blows (on-screen) in this upcoming action movie as well. Cast members Dave Bautista and Djimon Hounsou will fight while playing the roles of The Kurgan and Sunda Kastagir, respectively. Those two stars, along with Henry Cavill and Karen Gillan, will be joined by Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela and Jeremy Irons. That feels like quite an eclectic bunch to make a movie with in Scotland, and I wish I could be a fly on the wall somewhere within that set.

Directed by Chad Stahelski, Highlander is a reboot of the classic fantasy franchise and sees Connor MacLeod learning of his true identity as an “Immortal” and using his skills to obtain The Prize. That quest will ultimately bring him into conflict with Kurgan and, along the way, romance is likely to ensue between Connor and Heather. Stahelski is aiming to “upgrade” the franchise for a new generation of viewers, though I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he were to maintain the fantastical elements that have long been synonymous with it.

The early looks at Highlander that have been shared thus far don’t give too much away and actually spark more questions than answers. Still, I have a feeling Stahelski is planning something truly special, and I’m so glad the Scottish Karen Gillan landed a role. I look forward to hearing more about her experience making the movie, and I hope she continues to drop photos featuring picturesque landscapes ahead of the movie’s release date, which has not been revealed as of this writing.

Shrinking is absolutely one of the best TV shows on right now, but after the emotional Season 3 ending, it’s clear that we’re about to enter a decidedly new chapter with Season 4. One part of that newness is MCU vet Karen Gillan, who has officially joined the cast. But, who is the Scottish actress going to play?

Gillan is a versatile actress currently best known for playing Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy and other Marvel films, or starring in the Jumanji movies with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart. (But she'll always be Amy Pond to some.) Now, she’s been tapped for a “recurring role” in Shrinking Season 4, per Variety, and you can bet I’m hyped for her to join the cast. Because though she's most famous for action roles — such filming the upcoming Highlander movie — she’s known for quite a few comedies too, and this feels like a great move for her.

Could She Be A New Therapist At The Practice?

The most obvious guess I think of for Karen Gillan in Shrinking is her playing a new therapist at the practice the show revolves around. After Harrison Ford’s Paul decided to move in with his daughter and her family on the East Coast there’s a spot open at the spot that was handed over to Jessica Williams’ Gaby. I could see Gillan jelling with Gaby and Jason Segel’s Jimmy comedically, and it would be fun for Jimmy to suddenly become the only guy in the office.

There’s already been jokes that Jimmy and Gaby are above-average height, with Williams being six feet tall and Segel being 6’4. Gillan is similarly very tall, at 5’11 I’m seeing them as being a beloved trio already.

Or Maybe She’s A Patient?

The other bright idea I have is Gillan playing one of Jimmy’s new regulars. After what happened in Season 3, I don’t see him treating Sean anymore, and I think there will have to be more characters for him to “Jimmy” and there’s a lot of versatile directions Gillan could go as someone who needs a therapist’s help.

Other Stretch Guesses

One of my other guesses is Karen Gillan playing the role that will be the endgame partner for Jimmy. This is a stretch because Season 3 was clearly setting up Cobie Smulders’ Sofi being his love interest since the finale ended with him going on a date with her.

However, I should also note that Shrinking Season 4 will reportedly have a time jump of a year or so, so it’s possible that things between Jimmy and Sofi don’t work out. Creator Bill Lawrence has said that while the show won’t end at Season 4 it probably will at Season 5 and Season 6, and I could see the series pointing out how the first woman Jimmy dates might not be his person.

Or, maybe Karen Gillan is playing a character on the East Coast that interacts with either Paul or Alice? Last we left them both, they are starting new lives and might need new blood to keep their plotlines fresh. We know that Ford isn’t planning on hanging up his Shrinking role anytime soon!

Now, Gillan is dropping more tidbits, as she recently posted about her “natural habitat” and revealed her costume.

Karen Gillan’s latest post on Instagram, as of this writing, is a carousel of sweet photos taken from the set of Highlander. The first two images are quite scenic and show the actress from the back as she gazes upon the beautiful landscape. Fans can also see her in a long-flowing dress she’ll seemingly wear while playing the character of Heather MacLeod. The series of photos also includes a selfie of Gillan as well as shots of trailers and a video that gives a bird’s eye view of the land. Check it out:

Now, those are some truly beautiful sights, and I love that Gillan is giving us a sense of what it’s been like for her to be in her “natural habitat.” I can imagine the Guardians of the Galaxy alum taking a lot of pride in getting to shoot a film in her home country. And, of course, the icing on the cake is that she’s getting to work on such an iconic franchise at that. Right now, I’d say Gillan is leaving the dream as an actor and, quite frankly, I love to see it.

The previous photos Gillan shared on social media were also quite sweet, with one of them being a scenic shot of a body of water. She also shared a photo from her trailer, with which she showed off a few gifts she received. To be honest, these posts are giving me just a little bit of FOMO, and I really wish I could be a fly buzzing around that set. Regardless, though, I’m glad Gillan is apparently having a good time amid the shoot.

As of right now, details on Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot have mostly been kept under wraps. However, as of late, more details on the film have been steadily divulged. Henry Cavill is the lead this time around and, just a few months ago, fans were treated to the first look at Cavill’s Connor MacLeod. Given his role, Cavill will indeed be sharing screen time with Karen Gillan, since Heather is Connor’s first wife. I’m curious to see what kind of chemistry the two actors have.

There’s also, of course, the matter of the action sequences that are set to be featured in the film. At this point, Highlander fans are used to quite a bit of spectacle from this franchise, and all signs, thus far, seem to point to Stahelski delivering on that. Just recently, cast member Djimon Hounsou (who’s playing Sunda Kastagir) revealed that in the film, he’d have a fight scene with Marvel alum Dave Bautista (who’s portraying The Kurgan).

I’m curious to see how everything plays out on screen but, in the meantime, I’m just really happy that Karen Gillan has the opportunity to be part of the movie. Previously, Gillan spoke about landing her role and noted how it was a full-circle moment, given her own heritage as a Scottish Highlander. Fans will have to wait and see what she brings to the role of Heather but, for now, I’m just hoping she continues to share set photos with those beautiful landscapes.

I can only safely assume this is in Scotland, because of the time of some of her other posts, and because these landscapes are giving me serious Outlander vibes. The cloudy sky, dark waters, and billowy mountains give off an otherworldly energy that looks straight out of a timeless legend.

We’ve already seen images of Henry Cavill in a modern-day setting as lead character Conor Macloud. Like the original Highlander, we know the new movie will take place both in the modern day and in the past. It appears the production is getting ready to film the sequences set in 1400s Scotland, where Gillan’s character will be prominent.

The original Highlander sees Conor MacLeod marry a girl named Heather after he is exiled from his clan for witchcraft following the discovery of his immortality. Heather is ultimately killed by the Kurgan, the movie’s villain, who will be played by Dave Bautista in the remake.

It’s unclear what deviations from the original the new Highlander may make. One that appears likely is an expanded role for Heather. She wasn’t a major character in the original film, only appearing in a couple of scenes. The flashbacks time-jumped over their meeting and falling in love. Heather mostly existed to be killed off.

It seems unlikely that anybody would hire Karen Gillan to play a role as small as the one in the original movie, which indicates the part will be a bit more substantial this time around. That could simply mean more screen time for Heather, or it could mean a more significant performance from her in the few scenes she has. It could also be some combination of the two.

Whatever the plan, as a serious fan of Highlander who always felt the franchise never really lived up to its potential, I can’t wait to see what happens with it. It seems clear that the plan, assuming the movie is successful, is a larger Highlander franchise. And if things change enough for Karen Gillan’s character, the possibility of seeing more of her isn’t out of the question.

After the Doctor Who actress uploaded her long goodbye post, Dwayne Johnson was quick to comment. They’ve been working together for nearly a decade on these movies, and he made it clear how much he cares for her and their co-stars by writing:

Well, it couldn’t all be serious…which makes it even better. As Jumanji 4 has been in production, the cast has kept up the shenanigans. The Rock found out he was being filmed by Kevin Hart. Kevin Hart threw a tantrum about leg room in the back of a car that the cast was in. The list goes on. So, the Moana actor adding that little rib at himself, Black and Hart to his comment about Gillan feels very fitting.

All around, this post and comment felt like a great way to wrap up production on Jumanji 4. Now, I can’t wait to see what silly and loving moments these guys will give us once the press tour starts up and we get even closer to the movie's December 11 release.

One of the things that has made the two recent Jumanji movies so great is the chemistry of the main cast. The team of Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan is clearly having a lot of fun together making these movies. That’s been born out during the filming of the latest entry in the series, although I’m not sure anybody has as much fun as Karen Gillan.

The actress, who portrays video game character Ruby Roundhouse in Jumanji, has posted several clips from the set as she’s been hanging out behind the scenes and pretending to work. The final hilarious clip is from her final day on set. The new Jumanji recently wrapped filming, but not before Gillan rocked out on Instagram one last time.

This isn’t even the first time Karen Gillan decided to have an impromptu dance party on the set of Jumanji. A few days ago, she was getting down in her trailer during a time that she fully admitted she was supposed to be working on her lines. At other times, Gillan has been goofing off with The Rock’s stunt double, a guy who probably has only slightly less downtime than Tom Cruise’s stunt double.

The Rock himself has been having fun on set as well. The new Jumanji was filmed at Universal Studios, and The Rock occasionally stopped the Universal Studios Tour Trams to say hi to the people visiting the theme park that is attached to the studio. Celebrity sightings on the Universal Tour aren’t particularly uncommon, but they’re also rarely as big as Dwayne Johnson.

If the fun that the cast is having making Jumanji translates to the fun that audiences will have watching it, then we’re all going to be in pretty good shape. The last two films have been completely enjoyable takes on the premise. While we don’t really know what the new movie will be about. The ending of Jumanji: The Next Level teased a return to the original Jumanji premise, which sees the game world invade the real world, rather than the real world characters becoming part of the game. Of course, really anything is possible here.

Now that filming has wrapped, post-production can begin ahead of the film’s release in December. Somewhere in between, we’ll get the first trailer that will likely give us the movie’s official title, which will allow people to stop confusing things by being unable to decide whether this movie counts as Jumanji 3 or Jumanji 4.

Whatever we call it, we know this will be the last Jumanji movie, at least in this current iteration of the franchise. That also means there won't be another opportunity for Karen Gillan to be this silly, at least on this film series.

We’re one massive step closer to seeing Jumanji 4 in theaters, seeing as it has officially wrapped production. The project on the 2026 movie schedule that will reunite Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and more began filming in November. Now, after five months, they’ve completed their work on set. So, to celebrate, Black posted a cute car selfie with his co-stars.

Over the last few months, the Jumanji cast has been very active on Instagram while they've been in production. They’ve posted tons of BTS content, and it’s included everything from Kevin Hart filming The Rock in secret to Karen Gillan celebrating her birthday on set. First of all, I can’t help but wonder if this is from the same day of filming where Kevin Hart freaked out about the amount of leg room he had in the back seat of the car they were all in. If it is, that makes this even better.

If, however, you think that she spends all her downtime sitting around and learning her lines, you’d be wrong, as this video she shared on TikTok proves:

I don’t know what most people would imagine a movie set to be like, but I’ve always thought that there must be some silly times happening behind the scenes of even the most serious movies as they’re made. Sure, everyone has work to do and the days are long and probably more complicated than everyone would hope from time to time, but that’s exactly the reason why it’d be necessary to blow off some steam and release all that pressure whenever possible, right?

Plus, when you’re filming a movie like this one, where the cast seems pretty close and the film even stars famed funny bromance buddies Johnson and Hart, there are bound to be moments where everyone goofs off. And, when you’re in your trailer, as the Doctor Who alum appears to be in her clip, who cares if dancing to your new favorite song is the order of the day? As far as I’m concerned, breaking out some moves and singing lyrics like “I’m too sexy” should basically be a requirement on every set to keep everyone’s stress levels down. You can only run your lines so many times!

The Scottish actress (who also landed a “full-circle” gig in Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot) has also shared behind the scenes pics of her sweet on-set birthday celebration, and funnily revealed that she uses Johnson’s long-time stunt double as her personal umbrella holder during downtime, so it would seem that she may actually be relaxed enough on set to help keep everyone else calm, cool, and collected while they film what is likely to be a blockbuster ending to one of the best action/adventure comedy franchises of all time.

If anything, we can probably expect that loosey goosey feel to translate to more amazing comedy and chemistry between the stars in the finished product, so her dancing downtime is likely a great thing for all of us!

I have to say I’ve absolutely been loving the bits we’ve gotten to see from Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on social media since the new Jumanji movie began filming a short while back. Of course, the cast has been good about giving away pretty much nothing about the plot, with Karen Gillan even hiding a storyboard in one post (as if we were looking at anything but her abs). But they do seem to be having a lot of fun, as evidenced by Gillan’s interactions with The Rock’s bodyguard.

You may already know The Rock’s stuntperson from the epic story that’s told from time to time about how Johnson gifted him a truck on the set of his other action/adventure series Jungle Cruise. Tanoai Reed's been the stunt double for the actor for an extremely long time. They worked together starting on The Scorpion King and on subsequent movies in the former WWE star's career. Which brings us to their latest venture, an action-adventure sequel for Sony.

So, now, on the set of The Rock’s third Jumanji movie (the fourth overall), Reed is back. He’s there to do some of the heavy lifting when some of the bigger action sequences come into play, but have you ever wondered what stunt doubles do on set when there’s downtime? According to this funny post from Karen Gillan, she’s enlisted the man as her resident umbrella holder.

There may have been some uproar over her Jumanji costume, but listen: a girl can't get all red in the sunshine while filming a movie where she's an unchanging video game character in short shorts and a crop top! While I didn't see it coming when she enlisted Johnson's stunt double to do the task, somebody's gotta do it, and I guess it might as well be the big, tall dude with good reach and a lot of downtime in between scenes.

And they say chivalry is dead.

Meanwhile, the story behind The Rock even working with Tanoai Reed is wild. Reed was already a stuntman in Hollywood who'd gone as Dwayne Johnson for Halloween a year before The Scorpion King. He was a similar size to the actor, and fit into his costumes perfectly, so was hired on the spot. Sometime down the line, they both found out they were actually cousins down the line, with Johnson's mom knowing Reed's dad.

It was meant to be, and now he's got a side gig hustling for Karen Gillan. Hollywood gonna Hollywood.

I’ve been loving all the updates we’ve been getting from the set of Jumanji 4. I particularly am enjoying Karen Gillan’s photo dumps, and she delivered with her newest one. It includes some fun peeks at the set of this latest adventure movie, cute photos of her and her team, and her rocking the iconic Ruby Roundhouse outfit that shows off just how great of shape she’s in.

As I mentioned, Jumanji 4 has been in production for a few months now, and the cast has been on their best BTS game. Karen Gillan specifically has been killing it with her photo dumps on Instagram. In her latest set of images, we got to see her abs on full display as she showed off just how much fun they’re having making this movie, take a look:

Alright, let’s break these images down. First, we have that fun photo of the Guardians of the Galaxy star posing with the nutcracker on set. As always, she’s looking great in Ruby’s crop top and shorts, and it’s clear from her abs that she’s in spectacular shape.

Also, based on other BTS photos we’ve seen from Gillan and co, it seems like Jumanji 4 will take place around the holiday season, and maybe it’ll be set in the real world instead of a video game. That’s not confirmed, it’s simply what I’m theorizing based on the photos we’ve seen.

In the second and fourth photos, Gillan is sweetly posing with people who appear to be her hair and makeup team. It’s such a sweet selfie, and it reminds me of how the cast celebrated her birthday on set. And by that, I just mean both images show how tight this ensemble seems to be.

The third photo is my personal favorite in the dump, as it features The Life of Chuck actor, seemingly her child, and her co-star, Jack Black. The sheer joy on Gillan’s face, mixed with Black’s silly expression, brings me immense joy.

She then ended her dump with an image of her holding a child while looking at a storyboard. However, she’s a Marvel actress, she knows how to keep a secret, and she put a very silly spoiler warning over the part of the image that would reveal things about what they’re filming.

On that note, while the Jumanji cast has been posting a lot from the set, we really don’t know much about what’s to come. For example, while we’ve seen Kevin Hart post about his stunt doubles, we have no clue what kind of action Mouse will find himself in this time. The same goes for Ruby and the other characters.

What we do know is that this cast is all back, they’re in great shape, and they’re working really hard on this new Jumanji movie. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait much longer for it, because Jumanji 4 is set to premiere on the 2026 movie schedule on December 11.

It is that time of year once again when we all gather around the TV to watch our favorite Christmas movies. It is also that time of year when we get online and argue over exactly what constitutes a Christmas movie. This often means a particular spotlight on the seemingly endless question of whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie, but here’s one you maybe never considered. What about Jumanji?

Fun fact: all three Jumanji movies were actually mid-December releases. Certainly few, if any, would argue that the recent Dwayne Johnson-led Jumanji films would qualify as Christmas movies. However, the original film with Robin Williams does include a scene near the end that takes place at Christmas, which led one fan on Instagram to suggest it counts as a Christmas movie, and reboot co-star Karen Gillan has officially endorsed this position.

As the original post states, the final scene of the original Jumanji is set at Christmas with Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt’s characters, now married, inviting the family of Judy and Peter, the children they experienced the game with, to their Christmas party. Williams even goes full Santa.

The Christmas scene does ask some particularly interesting questions. Was the scene at the end always a Christmas party? Was it made that way because of the decision to release in December? Or was the December release specifically decided upon in order to match the way the film ended? Is Jumanji a December franchise specifically because of this scene? Does that make all the Jumanji films Christmas movies?

The currently-filming Jumanji 4, is also set for a December release. There's no expectation that the movie will include any Christmas elements, but it could certainly surprise us. We've seen the franchise make references to the original Jumanji before, so any callback to this final scene certainly wouldn't be out of place.

Does this scene alone make Jumanji a “Christmas movie?” That’s certainly a somewhat difficult argument for some to make. For many fans, simply being set at Christmas doesn’t make a Christmas movie, and even if you do think that’s enough, most of the movies that fall into that category. Like the previously mentioned Die Hard, at least have the whole movie set during that period.

Here we’re only talking about a single scene. If you saw Juamanji in theaters back in December 1995, it perhaps made it all feel like a Christmas movie, but 30 years later, separated from that, I’m not sure anybody watching it for the first time would feel that way about it.

Of course, at the end of the day, the only real way to determine what counts as a Christmas movie is your own feeling. If you think Jumanji is a Christmas movie, then it is. If other people don’t feel that way, who cares? You have Karen Gillan on your side.

There are lots of great ways to celebrate a birthday, and Karen Gillan revealed the stellar way she spent her's from the set of Jumanji. At the moment, the cast of the fourth Jumanji movie is in LA working on the final installment in the franchise, and the Ruby Roundhouse actress’s birthday is November 28. So, in celebration of all of that, the Guardians of the Galaxy star posted how she and the cast spent her special day.

While we won’t be able to celebrate Jumanji’s release on the 2026 movie schedule until later next year, we can celebrate Gillan’s birthday now. So, to do just that, take a look at the fun photo she uploaded to commemorate how she and the cast spent her big day on set:

OK, first of all, that cake looks amazing. I also love how happy Gillan looks alongside her co-stars, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Alex Wolff.

However, I think the best part of this post was the caption, because, along with commemorating the lovely event, she also threw light shade at Kevin Hart’s character, by calling out Mouse Finbar’s hilarious weakness in Jumanji, she wrote:

This made me laugh so much, and I love that it was both a solid joke and a good reminder of the funny strengths and weaknesses these characters have. I also am here for the fact that this isn’t the first time Gillan has called these facts out in a post, either. That’s because, when she posted about getting back into the Ruby Roundhouse costume, she made sure to note that her character is a skilled dance fighter.

Now, everyone in the Jumanji cast has been pretty actively posting about this upcoming movie. Dwayne Johnson has surprised fans and acknowledged Universal Studios Tours on a couple of occasions. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart uploaded an appreciation post for his stunt doubles.

These two guys also commented on Gillan’s birthday post. Hart even acknowledged his character’s funny weakness, writing:

I also love the fact that in the second image, as Gillan was blowing out the candles, Hart was shying away from the cake as he was holding it. While I’m sure that reaction was probably more fire-related than cake-related, knowing about Mouse’s weakness makes it incredibly funny (and fitting).

Meanwhile, The Rock’s comment for Gillan was equally as sweet and included some killer hashtags (pun intended):

Along with those two, Alex Wolff also took to his IG story to repost Gillan’s images and write that she is “the greatest ever.”

Overall, this post reiterates the enthusiasm and love this cast has for each other and the Jumanji movies. Now, I really can’t wait to see them all back in action when the fourth and final movie hits theaters on December 11, 2026.

Jumanji 4 is in production, and that news, genuinely, made my week. Now, I’m going into the weekend with some great energy, because Karen Gillan posted a photo of her in her iconic Ruby Roundhouse costume, and that’s making me even more excited to head back into the jungle.

As Dwayne Johnson posted about Jumanji 4 taking a major step forward, others from the core cast celebrated the update, too. This included Karen Gillan, AKA Ruby Roundhouse, who is already back in her crop top and green shorts. She took to Instagram to post a carousel of images from the table read, and it included a mirror selfie of her in costume, too. Take a look:

I remember when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle came out in 2017, and I went and saw it with my family. All these years later, I still love to rewatch this movie (you can currently stream it with a Hulu subscription that has live TV), and I sincerely cannot wait for the fourth installment. So, yes, seeing Karen Gillan in costume has me pumped.

While Gillan has gotten weird “flak” for the costume from some, I find it fun and iconic. When I see her in that fit, I get so excited because I can’t wait to see Ruby Roundhouse in action.

I also am so stoked to see her bust a move (remember she’s an expert at dance fighting). The Doctor Who actress nodded to that fact too in her Instagram post, which you can see in full below:

Along with Gillan being back in costume being thrilling, this entire post has me amped.

That’s because we got to see the franchise’s four leads, Gillan, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson laughing together. And I just know that kind of reaction from them means we’ll be laughing too when Jumanji 4 is eventually released on the 2026 movie schedule.

Along with the main four characters, quite a few other beloved actors are returning to the franchise. According to THR, Nick Jonas (Jefferson), Rhys Darby (Nigel), Danny DeVito (Eddie), Lamorne Morris (Heater Repair Man), Bebe Neuwirth (Nora) and Marin Hinkle (Janice) will all be back as their characters. Alongside them, Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes will be joining the cast for the first time.

All of this also has me wondering what Jumanji 4 will be about, and highly anticipating our return to this video game world. Plus, The Rock said in his post about production that this will be the “final film.” So, I hope they go out with a bang and a lot of fun.

Based on Karen Gillan’s post, that seems to be what’s going to happen. She looks stoked to be back in Ruby’s costume, and I'm so excited to see her dance again. Doctor Who is about a year out from the return of the flagship series, and while the conclusion of the Disney+ agreement meant the series can move on, we'll have a chunk of time without seeing The Doctor adventuring. The good news is that, while we wait for the show's return to the 2026 TV schedule, a podcast featuring two beloved actors from the show's past is on the way, which has me thrilled.

In addition to the spinoff, The War Between The Land And The Sea, fans can enjoy a special Doctor Who-themed podcast, hosted by two actors who played companions in some of The BBC series' best episodes. For those who loved Matt Smith's run as The Doctor, you're in for a real treat!

Arthur Darvill And Karen Gillan Are Starting A "Pondcast"

The Ponds are back together as Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan announced to Radio Times that they're starting a Doctor Who podcast. Titled The Pondcast, the project will follow Darvill and Gillan as they revisit their episodes of Doctor Who and interview people who used to work on the show.

While an official release date or list of guests has not been announced yet, Darvill confirmed that they've already interviewed former showrunner Steven Moffat, who was in charge of the show during their tenure.

Unfortunately, those episodes are currently not available to stream in the United States, but perhaps Paramount+ or another service will secure a deal for the show by then. Either way, I can't wait to listen to these two discuss the show that helped make them stars for a very fun reason.

Arthur Darvill Hasn't Seen A Good Number Of The Episodes

The most appealing part of The Pondcast to me is the fact that Arthur Darvill hasn't seen a lot of his Doctor Who episodes. The actor, who joined Legends of Tomorrow after leaving the Who, talked about how much he's seen and what listeners can expect from the podcast:

It sounds like this is going to be a podcast about good vibes and memories that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill shared on the set of Doctor Who, which I'm 100% on board for.

I do hope they're eventually able to get Matt Smith on to record an episode with them. It could even be in promotion for House of the Dragon Season 3. He'd have the perfect excuse to kill two birds with one stone, promoting one show while remembering another.

Hopefully, we'll get a bunch of episodes of The Pondcast in 2026, as we won't get a new episode of Doctor Who until Christmas of that year. By then, we should know more about what the future holds for The Doctor, and whether Billie Piper is really playing the Time Lord, or if this is some trick by the TARDIS. At this point, I'm not sure which I prefer; I just want to see some new episodes.

Until then, we have The War Between The Land And The Sea coming in 2026 in the United States, and it will be the final Doctor Who project handled by Disney+. The BBC will start airing the series in the UK in December, so be sure to avoid some spoilers in the meantime, and make sure to go back in time with the Ponds with The Pondcast.

You probably missed it, but last month, Sony made the next Jumanji movie official when it landed on the 2026 movie release calendar. Now we’ve received a big update from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after we were in the dark for awhile. The movie star just shared what’s going on with production, and signaled it will be the end of an era.

Over on Instagram, Johnson shared some video and photos of the cast getting back together in Los Angeles for a table read for the new Jumanji movie. Here’s what he wrote:

The end? We had no idea that the new Jumanji franchise would be concluding after three movies, but per his recent words, I guess it will soon be time to close the game again.

At the table read, The Rock was chiefly joined by Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan at the center of a long table to read the script for the untitled Jumanji movie that's officially in the works. As previously announced, it'll come to theaters on December 11, 2026. He also said this:

The first two modern Jumanji movies have certainly been consistently hilarious blockbusters, and it sounds like this third installment will be no different. You can check out the original post below:

The last Jumanji movie, The Next Level, came out back in 2019, making this sequel a long time coming. Its ending had the world of Jumanji once again colliding with the real world (like the Robin Williams-led movie), which led to theories about what should happen next. With that in mind, it definitely makes sense that the franchise might go back to the beginning before arriving to the end, but this post is kind of a random bomb dropped by Dwayne Johnson about what's going on with the Jumanji franchise.

In the post, Johnson also explained the significance of the dice necklace with a number three on it. The actor said it's a "little Easter egg" that his character of Dr. Smolder Bravestone wears in the upcoming movie. It's apparently the dice from the original 1995 movie as a way to pay "homage, love and respect to the great Robin Williams."

With Jumanji's production now getting started, we can definitely look forward to seeing it over the holiday season a little over a year from now. The movie that will once again be helmed by Jake Kasdan arrives one week before Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three come out on the same day. We can't wait to reenter the game with this latest of upcoming The Rock movies on the way.

Doctor Who and Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran Karen Gillan is adding another major franchise to her resume, with this one being the most closely tied to her heritage yet. In August, it was announced that the actress would star in the Highlander reboot as Heather, the mortal wife of Cavill’s character, Connor MacLeod. Just like in the original movie, these new versions of Connor and Heather will both hail from Scotland, and even better, Gillan’s story about landing her role in Highlander is extremely Scottish.

Gillan detailed the story behind how she boarded Highlander while speaking with BASIC Magazine. Since she was born in Inverness, a city resting in the Scottish Highlands, in 1987, two years after the release of the original Highlander, she welcomed the opportunity to come aboard the reboot, explaining:

From playing Nebula and Ruby Roundhouse in the MCU and newer Jumanji movies, respectively, to leading the Netflix subscription-exclusive movie Gunpowder Milkshake a few years back, Karen Gillan has accumulated a lot of action experience in Hollywood. I’m hoping Highlander will allow her to showcase more of that side of herself rather than relegate Heather to the sidelines, and if Chad Stahelski specifically sought Gillan out, then the chances of that seem strong. So she got her wish to star in Highlander and bring some proper Scottish Highland representation to the project.

But wait, it doesn’t end there. Right before Karen Gillan met with Chad Stahelski about Highlander, she’d just partaken in one of the most Scottish activities there is. As she recalled:

Highlander was supposed to begin filming around the time of this writing, but was pushed back to early 2026 after Henry Cavill injured himself during preproduction. He and Karen Gillan are joined in the reboot by Russell Crowe as Ramirez, Dave Bautista as The Kurgan, and Jeremy Irons as the leader of The Watchers, as well as Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Max Zhang and Drew McIntyre. Along with Chad Stahelski sitting in the director’s chair, Michael Finch wrote the script.

Highlander was originally going to be released by Lionsgate, but now Amazon-MGM has taken over the reboot. It doesn’t have an official release date yet, but you’re welcome to watch Karen Gillan’s latest movie, The Life of Chuck, on digital and physical home media.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always expanding, thanks to new projects hitting theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. But moviegoers who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that certain franchises are fan favorites, chief among them being James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. Karen Gillan spent years playing Nebula, but recalled she didn't expect to actually land the gig (and shave her head) until the very end.

While the Guardians aren't expected to appear in any upcoming Marvel movies, I'm holding out hope that we'll see more of Nebula after Vol. 3.'s ending. In a recent conversation with Basic Magazine, Gillan spoke about not thinking she'd land the role of Nebula initially. She shared:

While it's hard to imagine anyone else playing the Blue Meanie at this point, it wouldn't be surprising if Marvel cast a large net when finding the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. As such, Karen Gillan didn't think too much about the request to shave her head if she landed the role of Nebula. Alas, that's exactly what ended up happening.

While Karen Gillan has cut her hair for movies like Guardians 3, James Gunn's first movie required her to completely shave her head. This was a huge commitment, with hardcore fans remembering her taking off her red wig at Comic-Con to reveal the bald look. Later in the same interview, the Doctor Who alum revealed how things changed as she was cast as Nebula. In her words:

This sounds like a surprisingly profound experience for Gillan. As she said, her red locks had previously defined her as a performer and person. But that changed when she went bald to film Guardians of the Galaxy, and suddenly loss that identity, as well as some of her femininity. One can only imagine how much that influenced her performance as Nebula... especially since she was an antagonist in Vol. 1.

Nebula is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and I'm hoping she eventually returns to the role in live-action. The end of Guardians 3 saw everyone get a happy ending, with Nebula and Drax staying on Knowhere to raise the kids they saved from the High Evolutionary. While Star-Lord is expected to pop back up, the same can't be said for the rest of the team.

The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is streaming in its entirety on the MCU. The next MCU movie hitting theaters is Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. Fingers crossed we get more of Gillan's signature character sometime in the future.

We’ve seen a lot of reboots over the years, but the recent Jumanji movies were clever in the way that they found a fresh way to revitalize the franchise by putting characters inside a vintage video game. While we wait for the next Jumanji movie, Karen Gillan has shared one thing about her character in the action movies people just can’t stop talking about: her skimpy outfits.

During a new interview with iNews, Gillan shared that she’s still getting “flak” for her character Ruby Roundhouse’s revealing outfit while discussing her overarching career. The actress, who wears a stomach-bearing crop top and short shorts while adventuring in the jungle, shared these thoughts on it being a topic of conversation even though she’s six years removed from the last movie, Jumanji: The Next Level:

Gillan, who played the avatar Ruby Roundhouse, who is being played by a shy high school student named Martha in 2017’s Welcome To The Jungle and the 2019 sequel, has commented about the costume on multiple occasions since the look was revealed. Back in 2017, she said she was not “expecting” such an “uproar,” but she explained the character’s clothing was chosen to make her like a '90s video game with “an absurd male fantasy sort of vibe.”

The actress has also talked before about how she thought it was “a positive thing” that Ruby Roundhouse sparked a debate. It showed that the sexualization of women in video games was being discussed among audiences, and it didn’t sit right with them that people weren’t getting behind the oversexualization of a female character that young people are consuming.

Karen Gillan revealed her Jumanji outfit is still a subject of conversation among the public while reflecting on how “getting the Marvel and Jumanji films were further leaps” in her career, following the "huge leap" and "shocking miracle" that was landing a role on Doctor Who early on.

The actress’s latest role is in Mike Flanagan’s The Life Of Chuck, which came out earlier this year, but is just coming out among 2025 movie releases in the U.K. Last week, Gillan was flaunting the sheer cutout dress trend while doing press for the life-affirming drama also starring Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The actress shared her latest look while asking her fans “who’s been out to the cinema to see The Life Of Chuck in the UK?”. As you can imagine, lots of comments were all about the dress, and her overall fashion moment, but hey, she has people talking, right?

The Life Of Chuck has been a staff favorite here at CinemaBlend that has us discussing its rare life-affirming message and unexpectedly sobbing over its ending. The movie continues Karen Gillan’s partnership with filmmaker Mike Flanagan, whom she previously worked with on Oculus back in 2013. The new movie is an adaptation of one of author Stephen King's more uplifting short stories that examines a man’s life in reverse.

Aside from Gillan serving looks during her latest press tour, the actress recently channelled Nicole Kidman for a magazine shoot and joined the Highlander movie with Henry Cavill. When the news of her new role came out on Thursday, Gillan reacted by sharing that she’d get to let her dialect coach “sit this one out” since she’s Scottish through and through.

That’s not all that she has cooking up though. While we wait for these projects, the commotion I have for this dress is too real!

Following her time playing Amy Pond in Doctor Who, Karen Gillan transitioned into a full-fledged movie star from playing Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Ruby Roundhouse in the modern Jumanji movies, amongst other projects. Now the actress has added another franchise to her resume, as she’ll star opposite Henry Cavill in the Highlander reboot. While the casting itself is interesting enough, what’s even better is how Gillan reacted to the news.

First things first, THR revealed today that Gillan has come aboard Highlander to play Heather, the mortal wife of Cavill’s character, Conor MacLeod. Heather was played by Beatie Edney in the original Highlander, but it’s unclear if the reboot will use Gillan’s version in roughly the same way or if the character will be utilized differently, perhaps with her role expanded. In any case, Gillan , most recently seen in The Life of Chuck, said the following on Instagram when she passed along the news of her casting:

Karen Gillan is referring to the fact that she’s Scottish, because in the original Highlander, Conor MacLeod lived in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century before he became an immortal warrior. It sounds like we can expect the same from Henry Cavill’s Conor, though whether or not he’ll still have that accent in the present day remains to be seen. For Gillan, this means she can be her authentic Scottish self in Highlander rather than adopt a different accent like she did when playing Nebula and Ruby. Sorry, Karen’s acting coach, you’ll need to find someone else to work with as the long-awaited reboot is shooting.

This will also now serve as a Guardians of the Galaxy reunion, as Dave Bautista, who co-starred with Karen Gillan in those Marvel movies as Drax, has been cast as The Kurgan. The lineup of Highlander actors also includes Russell Crowe as Ramirez (Crowe and Cavill previously worked together on Man of Steel) and Industry’s Marisa Abela in an undisclosed role. Chad Stahelski, whom Lionsgate gave creative oversight over both the Highlander and John Wick franchises, is directing the feature off a script written by Michael Finch.

Highlander is expected to begin filming at the end of September, but there’s no word yet about when it will be released in theaters. Karen Gillan’s other upcoming movies include Let’s Have Kids!, The Trip and Jumanji 4, the latter of which is scheduled for December 11 on the 2026 movies schedule.

Across the course of the Marvel movies in order, we’ve seen nearly innumerable actors bring some of our favorite comic book characters to life, and many of them will continue doing so well beyond the 2025 movies schedule. However, some stars have had complaints about leading MCU films, but Guardians of the Galaxy villain-turned-good guy Karen Gillan recently explained why she has no plans of ever being counted among that number.

What Did Karen Gillan Say About Starring In The MCU?

Even though starring in a blockbuster franchise like the Marvel Cinematic Universe can lead to long-time guaranteed (and very large) pay days for many actors, there are some drawbacks. Pedro Pascal (who led The Fantastic Four: First Steps as Reed Richards and will return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday) has talked about how taking on each of his franchise gigs has been “scarier” than the last, and (of course) there’s all that “cult”-like secrecy and security noted by Karen Gillan’s Guardians co-star, Zoe Saldaña.

When speaking with Photobook Magazine, though, Gillan said that for all of the potential stress that goes along with being a major player in such a big-budget franchise with long-established IP, she’d never complain about being involved in things like the MCU for one big reason. She said:

Something that movie lovers can often forget about superhero movies is that the best of them are always able to give viewers something we can relate to, despite their often otherworldly, action-packed plots. Nebula was hardly a one-note bad guy, with a lot of her early actions being attributed to how she was forcibly trained by Thanos (and alongside adopted sister Gamora) from childhood, leading to pretty much all of that “trauma” that Gillan had time to “explore” on screen.

It’s understandable, though, that not everyone would have quite the same experience. Zachary Levi (who appeared in the middle two Thor movies before leading Shazam! and its sequel) admitted to enjoying his DC work much more than his time in Marvel, because his character in the latter “didn’t really do all that much.” Meanwhile, Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth has opened up about smaller irritants like the “exhausting” process of recording sound effects for fight scenes.

The mom of baby Clementine has already said that she’s willing to bring Nebula back at some point, should she be asked to do so, because “it's so much fun working in the Marvel world,” and it sounds like a lot of that has to do with how rewarding portraying the character has been. As Gillan added:

While we have no clue whether or not we’ll get another appearance from the Jumanji 4 actor’s Nebula in a future Marvel project, at least we can rest easy knowing that she’ll jump at the chance to dive back in, given her enjoyment of what’s come before.

Being photo-shy is not an adjective readily used to describe Karen Gillan. Whether she's taking shots in her bathroom or showing off being decked out for her Scottish wedding, the Doctor Who actress is loved by the camera. She wasn't her usual self in a new photoshoot, though, as Gillan looked completely unrecognizable while channeling ‘90s-era Nicole Kidman.

If I didn’t know whose Instagram account this was, I might never suspect the photoshoot model was the Guardians of the Galaxy star. Wearing oversized suits and ties from designers like The Frankie Shop, Tibbi, Missoni, Brioni, and Monse, Gillan's photoshoot with Numéro Netherlands had her going full Nicole Kidman, and I love what I’m seeing.

In each photo, Karen Gillan redefines business chic. She’s got on so many different suit-and-tie ensembles, like red-rust silk pants with a blue-collared dress shirt or beige suit and trousers complemented with a silk black jacket. With any of these business attire collections, the Guardians of the Galaxy actress can rule any boardroom.

However, the most glowing attribute coming from Karen Gillan’s photoshoot is how much she looks like a ‘90s Nicole Kidman. The resemblances are so uncanny that you’d never know the difference if introduced to these photos without the Instagram handle.

Back in Nicole Kidman’s ‘90s era, you saw the Australian actress sporting some wild red curls. They were blowing in the wind as she watched Tom Cruise compete in the auto-racing movie Days of Thunder. You also couldn’t ignore her natural curly hair in Kidman’s breakout role in Dead Calm and one of her best movies, Far and Away.

Further in Nicole Kidman’s career, the Oscar winner was pressured by Hollywood to straighten her hair many times. While those wild ringlet curls aren’t a look you normally see anymore with A-list actresses, that’s all the more reason why it’s so awesome that Karen Gillan is bringing the iconic look back. We need to remember that the flat-ironed look isn’t the only look out there for women. The voluminous curls sported by the two actresses translate into spunk and attitude that can’t be overlooked.

As for what’s next on Karen Gillan’s radar, she told Numéro Netherlands that she’ll be re-teaming with Mike Flanagan on a project she's keeping on the hush-hush for now. She’s worked with the horror director before in Oculus and joined the cast of his Stephen King adaptation, The Life of Chuck. The Jumanji actress will also be making her own horror film that she described as a “big celebration” and a “commentary” of the genre. I’m already looking forward to it.

Karen Gillan channeling a ‘90s Nicole Kidman may not have been on my bingo card this week, but I’ll take it! Now that we know that the Late Bloomers actress can rock the big voluminous curls, hopefully, we will see them make a more frequent appearance in her and other actresses.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a well-oiled machine at this point, with the studio methodically releasing new content in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Those who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order know that Guardians of the Galaxy is a fan favorite franchise. After the Guardians 3 ending, fans are wondering if/when the team might return in upcoming Marvel movies. And Nebula actress Karen Gillan recently spoke about that possibility.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 offered the motley crew of cosmic heroes a happy ending, although many of them went their separate ways. Nebula and Drax decided to raise the children they rescued on Knowhere, and it's unclear if we'll ever see that duo again. While speaking with MovieWeb, the Doctor Who alum was asked this, saying:

How delightfully cryptic. While it doesn't seem like there are any future plans for Nebula, Gillan doesn't sound opposed to popping back up as the Blue Meanie. Hopefully, Kevin Feige and company will cook up a reason to bring her back, because she's one of my favorite characters in all of the MCU.

Of course, there are some possible roadblocks into Gillan one again playing Nebula in the MCU. To start, James Gunn is now co-CEO of DC's studio, and his contract with Marvel reached its conclusion with Guardians 3. He's likely going to be way too busy to craft another cosmic story, which means Karen Gillan might have to work with a new filmmaker. Whether or not she's interested in the MCU without Gunn remains to be seen.

The title card at the end of Guardians 3 claimed that Star-Lord was going to return to the MCU at some point, but the same was not confirmed for the rest of the team. Dave Bautista needed a break from Drax's makeup, and I have to assume that that Gillan might have similar feelings. After all, she's spent a decade in the extensive makeup and prosthetics to bring Nebula to life.

At the time of writing this story, none of the Guardians have been confirmed in Avengers: Doomsday's cast list. That includes Chris Pratt, who joked about not having a chair in the live stream announcement. And if Star-Lord isn't going to appear, then I have to assume the same can be said for Nebula and the rest of the crew.

Of course, Marvel actors are known for lying to the press in order to keep the shared universe spoiler-free. Case in point: Andrew Garfield lying for years about playing Spider-Man prior to the release of No Way Home.

Karen Gillan's tenure as Nebula is streaming now on Disney+, and the next movie hitting theaters is The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25th as part of the 2025 movie release dates. I'll just keep hoping we get to see Nebula at some point down the line.

The 2025 movie schedule will finally see Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck released into the wild. And with that picture’s debut will also come the big screen return of actor Karen Gillan, whose last major film release happened to be 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Though to be fair, the successful Doctor Who vet has kinda been busy, what with making other projects…as well as a new tiny human she’s just given birth to. The timing was enough to not only see baby Clementine make an adorable debut through Karen Gillan’s Instagram, but it also left the Douglas is Cancelled star a chance to make an A+ Daniel Day-Lewis joke.

That’s because, as you’ll see in the carousel below, Gillan happened to be making the movie Let’s Have Kids! as she learned of Ms. Clementine’s existence:

It was around the time of the September 2024 TIFF premiere for The Life of Chuck that the world first saw Karen Gillan’s pregnancy announcement. But of course, with celebrities being able to control the secrecy around such things, that news hit the public stage late in the game.

For all we know, by time Ms. Gillan and her husband Nick Kocher had decided to let us all in on the event; they'd already picked out those awesome “Best Dad/Mom Ever” mugs they showed off in the post above. Turning back to Karen Gillan’s acting career for a moment, another current event now becomes an even bigger question mark. As Jumanji 4’s announced 2026 release date looms ahead, does this mean that we’ll see Ruby Roundhouse rejoining the party when director Jake Kasdan returns to his successful legacy-quels? Or could little Clementine be the perfect reason to hit pause for a little while, allowing the Dual actor to undertake her motherhood adventure?

It’s all up in the air, but isn’t that one of the best parts of parenthood? A new life is in play, and you’re one of, if not the party to help nurture its growth. Nebula's universe is about to get bigger! Karen Gillan, the actress behind the warrior from the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies, is expecting her first child. Gillan just hard-launched her pregnancy to the world by showing up at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her upcoming movie release with a baby bump and a fitting social media post.

Karen Gillan's announcement led to a ton of supportive comments to flood the actress's social media post. But, it's especially sweet to see her Marvel sister, Zoe Saldaña send her love. Here's what she wrote on her Instagram post:

The Gamora actress have nine-year-old identical twins named Cy and Bowie and a third son named Zen, who is seven. Karen Gillan got married in a gorgeous Scottish wedding back in May of 2022 to comedian Nick Kocher. She delayed sharing photos of that milestone until February of the following year. She just had us fooled to set up this incredible reveal, and it's rather impressive! 

After saying goodbye to her Marvel team with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ending last summer, Karen Gillan has a leading role in The Life Of Chuck, which is based on the Stephen King novella found between the pages of the 2020 collection of unpublished stories from the beloved author, If It Bleeds. The story is also one of the author's rare non-horror stories – in a traditional sense, anyway.  

The movie that also stars Tom Hiddleston, Matthew Lillard, Jacob Tremblay, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Siegel comes from The Haunting of Hill House filmmaker Mike Flanagan. and is getting rave reviews out of TIFF. The Life of Chuck adaptation doesn't yet have a theatrical release date, but one is expected to be revealed soon.

Funny enough, Gillan also already filmed a comedy called Let's Have Kids! about two friends who decide to get pregnant at the same time to navigate motherhood together. 36-year-old Karen Gillan looks like she will have a lot of support around her, and a new exciting projects on the way as she takes on this new phase of life.

Actress Karen Gillan has a long resume of both TV and film projects, but she's perhaps most synonymous with playing Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Those of us who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order saw as the Blue Meanie's layers peeled back, making her a fan favorite character. And while it's unclear if she'll return in an upcoming Marvel movie, Gillan had a sweet reunion with Tom Hiddleston and other stars. And I so wish I could have been a fly on the wall.

Well, I've got Marvel-related FOMO. This group of folks got together for a Hulu on Disney+ celebration, and I'm so curious about what kind of conversations were had. Perhaps Gillan could be preparing another appearance as Nebula after the ending of Guardians 3? We can only hope.

Clearly plenty of laughs were had during this event, especially with comedians like Awkwafina in attendance. She and Karen Gillan worked together as part of the Jumanji 3 cast, but they haven't gotten to share any screen time in the MCU. At least, not yet.

Awkwafina joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, playing comedic relief Katy. She and Simu Liu had killer chemistry, but it's been unclear when we'll see those characters back on the big screen. But hopefully we get more information about Shang-Chi 2 as well as the future Avengers movies sooner rather than later.

As previously mentioned, fans are wondering whether or not we'll ever see Karen Gillan's Nebula again in the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gave the entire team their own happy ending. That includes Nebula, who left the team to help lead Knowhere with Drax and raise the children they rescued. While the final title card of the movie confirmed that Chris Pratt's Star-Lord would return sometime in the future, the rest of the team's fate is a mystery. And some fans want to see Gillan go to DC and play Poison Ivy.

After building a following among Doctor Who fans for her time as Amy Pond, Karen Gillan’s fame soared to new heights when she was cast as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, and she’s since reprised the role in seven other MCU projects. Between that and playing Ruby Roundhouse in the latest Jumanji movies, the actress has established some major franchise cred, and recently the actress expressed interest in joining the new DC Universe franchise, which is set to launch with its Gods and Monsters slate of projects. However, Gillan has now admitted that the only reason she named-dropped a specific DC role was because she has red hair.

Earlier this month, Gillan mentioned that she’d be game to play Poison Ivy, specifically in a project that explores her romantic relationship with Harley Quinn. However, that doesn’t mean pieces are moving into place for her to play the Batman villain in any upcoming DC movies or upcoming DC TV shows. While talking about her new movie Sleeping Dogs to SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw, Gillan shared that she hasn’t talked about this subject with DC Studios co-head James Gunn, saying:

Gunn directed Gillan in the three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (all of which can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription), so the two of them go way back. Plus, Gunn has already recruited a number of actors he worked with in the Marvel space to join him in the DC Universe, including Nathan Fillion set to play Guy Gardner in the Superman cast, as well as his brother Sean being cast as Maxwell Lord. So if Gillan wanted to come aboard this new shared continuity, chances are strong that Gunn, who runs DC Studios with producer Peter Safran, could find a character for her to play, but those conversations have yet to take place. 

As for Poison Ivy, rather than having a legitimate passion to bring her to life, Karen Gillan simply chose this rogue because they share the same hair color. As she put it:

Maybe not, but there are surely enough people out in the world who’s be interested to see what Karen Gillan could do as Poison Ivy. But whether she plays the role or someone else, this is a character who definitely deserves time to shine on the big screen. The only time that’s happened so far was when Uma Thurman played her in the critically-derided Batman & Robin, so Ivy’s in desperate need of cinematic redemption. The Brave and the Bold would be the most obvious place to do this since it’s teaming Batman and his son Damian Wayne together, so maybe can can be squeezed in there, whether it’s as the main antagonist or a supporting one.

Rest assured that if Karen Gillan is cast as Poison Ivy or scores a different role in the DCU, we’ll let you know. The future of upcoming Marvel movies is still kind of mysterious, as all sorts of curveballs have been lobbed toward the pop culture monolith. With such an atmosphere of intense secrecy and the unexpected, it’s not surprising that even Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan didn’t see that big end credits reveal in Vol. 3 coming. In discussing the matter, she also shared her thoughts on where Nebula’s future could be heading. 

While promoting her role in the 2024 movie Sleeping Dogs, Karen Gillan revealed to THR that when it came to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ending, she had no clue that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord was in line to return to the MCU. That much was clear in the Doctor Who alum’s remarks below: 

I’ll fully admit, Ms. Gillan has expressed the same exact thoughts that ran through my mind when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 told us that “The Legendary Star-Lord will return.” As he had returned to Earth and reunited with his grandfather Jason (Gregg Henry), the outlaw on the run seemed like he’d settled his tab with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

At the same time, former Guardians mastermind James Gunn’s thoughts on Star-Lord’s future seem to indicate that in true Marvel fashion, we’re not privy to the entire picture just yet. In a similar vein, Nebula’s future post-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is something that people are probably wondering about as well. 

Which leads to Karen Gillan’s remarks about how she sees Nebula's story after wrapping the trilogy's ending entry. As Vol. 3 towered over all other 2023 comic book movies, and a new Guardians of the Galaxy team has been assembled, there’s undoubtedly a future in this franchise. 

So fans should probably take the following thoughts to heart, starting with whether Karen feels she and Drax’s stewardship of Knowhere will continue:

There’s still no clue where Star-Lord, Nebula or any of the surviving Guardians of the Galaxy could pop up next in Marvel’s thematic playground. It’s a mystery that only Kevin Feige would know, and even then there’s a chance he may be course-correcting that continuum as we speak. So if that's the case, Mr. Feige if you're out there reading this, you should definitely greenlight a Drax and Nebula sitcom/dramedy for Disney+. It's what the people want, and since I am part of "the people," that statement is true.

For now, all anyone can really do is continue to enjoy the MCU’s previous offerings through the convenience of a Disney+ subscription. Though if Karen Gillan’s Nebula somehow turns up in Deadpool & Wolverine when it premieres on July 26th, you can be sure I’ll be one of the fans that cheers the loudest. Nebula deserves some laughs too, you know. 

The superhero genre continues to be a powerful force in the entertainment industry, with a number of shared universes currently competing at the box office. Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are forming the new DC Universe, with the first slate of projects titled Gods and Monsters. There are countless questions about the DCU, especially regarding which actors might play various heroes and villains. Karen Gillan has made her interest in playing Poison Ivy known, recently explaining which version of the Batman villain she'd like to portray. And honestly I'm so in.

What we know about Superman: Legacy is limited, but it'll be the first installment in the new shared universe being formed by DC. The ending of Guardians 3 gave the team a happy ending, and fans are curious to see which actors follow Gunn from Marvel to DC. Karen Gillan recently spoke to ScreenRant about her eagerness to play Ivy, and revealed how she'd like to bring her to life. In her words: 

Honestly, sign me TF up. While Karen Gillan would be a great Poison Ivy no matter what, fans would be thrilled to see her play opposite Harley Quinn. After all, Ivy and Harley's relationship has yet to be adapted into live-action. Luckily we've seen it play out in other projects like the Harley Quinn animated TV series that's available with a Max subscription. 

For her part, Margot Robbie has also expressed interest in bringing Harley and Ivy's romantic relationship to life on the screen. But with a new DCU being formed, it's unclear if another actor might step into that role instead of Robbie, who previously played Harley in three DC blockbusters. 

Clearly Karen Gillan and the Guardians cast have a close relationship with James Gunn, so it seems inevitable that she might appear in the DCU at some point. Nebula's story in the MCU has seemingly come to an end, which should open up her schedule to play Poison Ivy or another figure from DC lore. Hopefully the studio reveals more casting decisions sooner rather than later. In the meantime, fan theories and rumors are going to swirl online, and Gillan's comments about Ivy are likely going to fuel those flames.

Of course, the Jumanji actress isn't the only one hoping to play Poison Ivy in the newly formed DCU. The Mandalorian's Katee Sackhoff is also campaigning for the role, although she's aware she's potentially competing against Gillan as a result. But they're both beloved red heads who are comfortable with genre work, so it should be interesting to see where the chips fall.

The DCU will begin with Superman: Legacy on July 11th, 2025. While we wait for more information from the studio, check out the 2024 movie release dates.

When it comes to the life of a big-time movie star like Karen Gillan, one often gets a leg up in the presentation department. That's because a celebrity is often followed around by a small crew of stylists to get them looking beautiful for all their public appearances. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy alum recently went rogue right before a Q&A in London, as she shared a video that showed her cutting her own hair. And, in all honesty, I can totally relate to the chaotic energy the social media clip gives off.

The 36-year-old Scottish actress took to her Instagram to share a funny behind-the-scenes moment right before stepping on stage to talk about her latest project at London’s BBC Studios Showcase alongside Doctor Who and Sherlock’s Steven Moffat. Check out the video: 

I love that Karen Gillan immortalized this wild pre-Q&A energy!! As the video shows, the actor was not a fan of the length of some of the hair in the front and decided to take some scissors and cut them off a bit right before attending her big event. With the scissors in her hands, you can just feel the instant regret as she cuts off one side before moving on to the other to even it out. It’s funny to hear her commentary as she decides for herself if the chop actually looks decent or if it was a big mistake.

Will she get a big talking-to by her hairstylist once she finally meets with them? Probably but, hey, it did the job in the moment! I know I certainly have! Of course, as she illustrates in the funny social media video, hairstyling isn’t as easy as it looks, and the post-chop regret is too real. 

Karen Gillan previously shaved her entire head to play Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy before ultimately being part of seven of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,as well as the Guardians holiday special and What If...? Memorably, the actress walked out for Comic Con in a red wig before surprising the audience by taking it off and revealing her bald head. The actress clearly isn’t too precious about her locks. Hey, it’ll grow back anyway, right?

Karen Gillan’s recent trip to London was to promote her upcoming comedy miniseries, Douglas Is Cancelled, which is about a respected news presenter who’s career becomes vulnerable after he makes an ill-advised joke on air. Along with this show, Gillan will also has some projects lined up on the 2024 movie schedule. She’ll star in the crime thriller Sleeping Dogs, which debuts this March, and she's wrapped on the Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck back in November. A release date hasn't been announced for the latter just yet, but one would imagine it'll come out this year as well. 

Her role in the MCU may be over, based on the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ending. Still, it’s always so fun to see Karen Gillan on social media being way too funny and relatable! Here's hoping she maintains that energy while also not doing too much damage to her hair.

The biggest story of the week has been the absolutely wild case of the failed “Wonka” themed entertainment event in Scotland that completely went off the rails. The event left those who paid for tickets furious, children weeping, and every new video we see is another AI-infused cringeworthy goldmine. There’s really only one thing left to do, make a movie of the whole thing, and Karen Gillan wants in on it.

This week police were called to an event in Scotland that was billed as an immersive themed experience in the vein of Willy Wonka, called Willy’s Chocolate Experience. It had no official licensing or a connection to either the classic Gene Wilder Wonka or the recent Timothee Chalamet Wonka, but still used very clear references in its concept art. Tickets had been sold based on AI-generated artwork that promised a spectacle, but when ticket holders arrived they found simple props, few sweets, and characters spouting nonsensical gibberish. It’s so bizarre that Karen Gillan is seemingly obsessed and wants to be part of a movie based on the story. She took to Twitter saying…

Honestly, I’m already ready for this movie. I just want to know how in the world something like this happens. I’m a big fan of themed entertainment, from theme parks to escape rooms to anything that tries to put you inside a story, and I want to get the full story of just what in the world led to this bizarre event happening. Was it a case of terrible planning or an actual attempt at a scam? This combined with the recreating of these terrible and hilarious videos would make a movie a must-see. Maybe Karen Gillan can play the really depressed Oompa Loompa working the meth lab set. 

The AI artwork made some pretty big promises and so either something went wrong in the planning and design phase, preventing them from being able to deliver, or the artwork completely exaggerated what was happening and nothing like that was ever planned. But either way, there was simply no way this wasn’t going to end badly. Which makes one wonder why it happened at all. Most if not all ticket holders have received refunds, and it would have been easier to do that before the event by just canceling it and avoiding the bad press, which is now likely so much worse than anybody ever dreamed.

The organizer of Willy’s Chocolate Experience has apologized for the vision of the event not coming to fruition. The actor who played Wonka has also given his side of the story, largely disavowing the entire event.  With refunds issued and the experience closed, that is likely the end of it all. But who knows? If interest keeps up, maybe a movie is in the future. The Fyre Festival has two documentaries, surely this is good enough for one movie on a streaming platform. And there’s at least one actress who casting directors can call first. 

Karen Gillan, best known for her role as Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, recently stole the show at this year’s Golden Globes. Her unique ensemble, which featured a funky design and creative cutouts, turned heads when she hit the red carpet. The actress recently posted a video showing how much prep went into such an iconic look, and while it seemed like a lot of fun, I’m surprised she wasn’t exhausted by the time she arrived at the ceremony.

Fans of the Marvel star were treated with a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into getting ready for a show as big as the Golden Globes, and there’s definitely a lot more to it than just throwing on a dress and heels. Her day began with a full pamper session involving face and eye masks, and it slowly became a glam session once her hair and makeup team arrived. While certainly a long day, Gillan looked like she had a lot of fun preparing for, as well as attending the Hollywood event. You can see the video from X below:

The actress is probably used to a lengthy getting-ready process, as getting into the Nebula makeup was also no easy feat. Guardians co-star Pom Klementieff also makes appears in the video looking spectacular next to Gillan. The two seem to have enjoyed spending the night together and celebrating their 2023 blockbuster. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, a controversial new category this year. Nevertheless, both actresses had big years, so the girls had a lot to be proud of while sitting in the audience.

Even if the red carpet glam prep was intensive, the results were worth it as Gillan truly looked gorgeous. The Doctor Who alum is no stranger to an innovative fashion moment, but this most recent look may be her coolest yet. She once again went the untraditional route, choosing a avant-garde reptilian inspired gown by Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen. Because the dress was definitely the star of the show, she paired it with simple jewelry that included dainty rings and a ear cuff by Suzanne Kalan. I adore how different this dress is from anything else that was seen on the Golden Globes carpet, and she seems to have channeled her alien character's roots for the look. I also love how candid the getting-ready post was, showing fans what really goes into attending an event like this. Red carpet looks can sometimes appear so effortless, but there is a whole team behind such a high profile fashion moment. It may seem exhausting, but who doesn’t want to feel like a movie star like Karen Gillan when getting ready for one of the year's most glamorous red carpets.

It’s “mother-daughter bonding time” for the iconic Doctor Who duo, Amy Pond and River Song! The two actresses behind the legendary characters, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston, recently went holiday shopping together, and the Guardians of the Galaxy star documented it for TikTok. However, like the majority of Gillan’s TikToks, this one is extra chaotic and absolutely delightful. 

For those who don’t know, Karen Gillan has a history of making hysterical and chaotic TikToks. At first, she couldn’t get verified or her own handle, and after months of hilariously pleading the platform for them, her reaction was priceless. Since then, she’s delighted fans with fun videos, like her celebration of wrapping Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Stephen King adaptation and more. Now, she’s back on her social media A-game with a holiday shopping vlog, or an attempt at one, with her follow Doctor Who vet, Alex Kingston. Check it out:

As you can see, the vlog didn’t exactly pan out. We saw a very excited announcement of the shopping trip, some festive b-roll of a tree, the two talking about the River Song actress buying a cookbook, and eventually Gillan giving an update from her bed, yawning and saying:

I think it’s the perfect ending. Clearly, the internet got a real kick out of this attempted shopping vlog too, because the TikTok currently has over 4 million views.

Even though the shopping vlog can easily be filed as a fail, seeing the two Doctor Who stars back together was all I needed. And honestly, the fact that we didn’t actually see any shopping made it so funny. I bet the actresses were catching up and having a ball off-camera, and simply knowing they’re still close brings me an immense amount of joy.

Both Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston were heavy hitters in the Doctor Who cast during Matt Smith’s tenure as the Eleventh Doctor. And eventually, it was revealed in the show that River was the daughter of Amy and Rory, because time works in wibbly-wobbly ways. 

Along with the meaningful on-screen relationship, Gillan has said her time on the BBC hit was to credit for her success in blockbusters like Jumanji and Guardians of the Galaxy. 

So, considering all of this, it’s so sweet to see the two co-stars who shared such a meaningful relationship on-screen together off-screen all these years later.

After years of crushing it in the MCU as Nebula, most recently in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, the always splendid Karen Gillan is trading in the blue-hued skin for something a bit brighter and more yellow for her next high-profile role. The actress revealed that she will be popping up, or at least her voice will, for the next episode of The Simpsons, which will allow her to play into her Scottish roots in the best way possible. And the revealed earned some love from fellow native Sam Heughan.

As shared on her Instagram page, Gillan unveiled the wildly cool news that her first foray into the world of The Simpsons will also tap into another fan-favorite Scot. Here’s how she explained it:

And here's a first look at her character, who is certainly quite alluring for a schmo like Groundskeeper Willie. 

What's more, the episode airing December 3 won't be taking place in the usual spot of Springfield. As it's explained in the synopsis for the ep, titled "Ae Bonny Romance," Groundskeeper Willie gets kidnapped and whisked away to Scotland, with the Simpson family following. Playing a Scottish lass in a fictionalized version of her home country is a sweet gig, and fellow natives (and Outlander co-stars) Sam Heughan and Lauren Lyle shared their enthusiasm in Gillan's comments.

The series focuses on a respected news anchor (Hugh Bonneville) whose crass joke makes him a cancel culture target. (Which doesn't wholly sound unfamiliar to a situation that Homer Simpson would find himself in.) The new series will also star Alex Kingston, Nick Mohammed, Ben Miles, and Simon Russell Beale.

It wasn't long ago that it was announced that Karen Gillan and more joined Mike Flanagan for his latest feature film. She reunited with her Oculus director for his upcoming Stephen King adaptation. Now, the beloved Guardians of the Galaxy star has completed her work and has bid a bittersweet farewell to the master of horror's The Life of Chuck adaptation. And she celebrated the occasion by sharing a fun TikTok video.

As she wrapped up her role, the Jumanji vet couldn't resist sharing a cheeky behind-the-scenes moment with her fans through social media. In a video she posted on TikTok, the star offered her followers a glimpse into her post-shoot celebration. With a playful pout gracing her face, she revealed a unique memento she had taken from the set to commemorate her time on The Life of Chuck. And what was this one-of-a-kind keepsake? It happened to be none other than the back of her onset chair, which you can catch a glimpse of in the embedded video below:

That's certainly a wonderful keepsake from production and, judging by the vibe of the post, one gets the impression that the Gunpowder Milkshake star had a good time working on Mike Flanagan's movie. Given the director's skills, one would think that Flanagan was able to bring out a wonderful performance from the talented actress. These two are a solid pair, and I have no doubt they'll deliver something special.

Adapted from three interlinked stories found in Stephen King's 2020 anthology, If It Bleeds, The Life of Chuck takes a unique narrative approach by exploring the life of its central character, Charles Krantz, in reverse. It commences with his passing at the age of 39 due to a brain tumor and gradually unravels his life's story, culminating with his childhood in a house rumored to be haunted. This intriguing project will see the creative mind behind Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher serving as the producer, writer and director and collaborating once again with his longstanding partner at Intrepid Pictures, Macy.

While perhaps not everyones first choice of story for a big-screen adaptation, the underrated story is a perfect fit for Mike Flanagan, who has proven himself as a master at bringing Stephen King's intricate and eerie narratives to life on the screen with projects like Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. Who knows, the filmmaker has unleashed some of the most brutal, scariest moments in the history of Stephen King movies, so maybe this book-to-screen adaptation could very well rank among Flanagan’s best work.

This adaptation is just one of the exciting projects in Karen Gillan's ever-expanding portfolio. She is set to star alongside Russell Crowe in the upcoming thriller Sleeping Dogs. However, we'll have to wait for it, as the title is an entry on the 2024 movie schedule. Additionally, she'll be lending her voice to the forthcoming animated television musical series Rhona Who Lives By The River. I'm curious to see what she does in all of her upcoming gigs but am particularly curious to see what she does in the aforementioned drama film. (I'm also glad and a little jealous that she got to keep the back of her chair.)

One of the fun things about being a Mike Flanagan fan is seeing the way he casts his projects. Actors who sign on to a Flanagan movie or show regularly return for another – with standout names including Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino, Rahul Kohli, Bruce Greenwood and Kate Siegel (who is also the writer/director's wife) – and it's equally fascinating to see what new stars join his ever-expanding troupe. 

The filmmaker has already added a dash of both to his new movie based on Stephen King's novella The Life Of Chuck, with The Fall Of The House Of Usher's Mark Hamill and Flanagan first-timer Tom Hiddleston on-board – and now we have news that more fresh and familiar faces have signed on to the developing feature.

According to Deadline, The Life Of Chuck has added three names to its growing cast: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Jacob Tremblay. The Stephen King adaptation will mark the first time that Ejiofor has worked with Mike Flanagan, but the other two have prior experience collaborating with him. Gillan previously starred in the outstanding 2014 film Oculus (Flanagan's breakout feature), and Tremblay is featured in both 2016's Before I Wake and 2019's Doctor Sleep (where he memorably plays the ill-fated Baseball Boy a.k.a. Bradley Trevor).

As noted, The Life Of Chuck is based on the novella of the same name, which is featured in the 2020 Stephen King collection If It Bleeds. It's a fascinating and surreal story that plays out in reverse, beginning with the titular Chuck's death and ending with his childhood. Unfortunately, the trade report does not mention who Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Jacob Tremblay will be playing in the film, which has started production this month in Mobile, Alabama. If all goes according to plan, it will hopefully extend Flanagan's streak of annually delivering a new movie or TV show (a streak that goes back to 2016), but a release date has not yet been announced.

The Life Of Chuck is Mike Flanagan's third King adaptation, as he previously made 2017's Gerald's Game in addition to the aforementioned Doctor Sleep (a film so phenomenal that it actually helped changed Stephen King's opinion of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining). Both movies are among the best Stephen King movies of all time, and there are high hopes that his latest will have a matching reputation.

In addition to The Life Of Chuck, Flanagan is also in the process of developing his dream project, which is an adaptation of what many consider to be Stephen King's magnum opus: The Dark Tower series. Celebrities like Karen Gillan and Hayley Atwell have been looking incredibly suave posing in the bathtub, but they’re not the only ones having fun in the tub. One celebrity from the Fast & Furious movies has joined in. We're talking about Ludacris, who has taken part in the bathtub trend that makes us all wish we could take a nice bath right now.

What’s cooler than being cool? Right now, it’s Ludacris. With more celebrities taking part in making a bathtub look so good, the soon-to-be 46-year-old actor/rapper joins the trend taking a video of himself on Instagram relaxing in his new tub. 

The Fast X actor’s caption thanked Plunge for giving him an early birthday present. This new tub is so big that it apparently needed a new room of its own. You can see the “Southern Hospitality” rapper sporting a fro that brings us back to his start in the car-racing franchise when he was in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Instagrammers, of course, commented that Ludacris’ hair gave them nostalgia feels as well, and how he's basically aged like fine wine. Despite the pruny fingers I’d have, it would still take a lot of willpower for me to leave a bathtub as giant as this one. 

As celebrities work long and hard hours, they deserve to make time for themselves in the bath like anyone else. But two other celebrities before him posed in the tub more in a professional photoshoot fashion. First, Captain America’s Hayley Atwell hopped in the bathtub to promote Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One in a sexy red dress. She took to the tub again at the end of the summer for an outdoor bath on a recent vacation. The British actress’s latest photoshoot reunited her with the tub as she clashed against a black-and-white patterned wall. This classy actress shows that the bathtub can either be a tool for professionally shot photos or just to have some well-deserved “me time.”

Karen Gillan followed suit as she showed she could pose like the best of them next to the tub. In a fun Guardians of the Galaxy photoshoot, the Scottish actress posed by a bathtub wearing one of the most fashionable boots I’ve ever seen. Whether she was standing next to the tub, sitting on its side or laying herself stretched out inside, she and the bathroom accessory make a great combo. As for why she’s been taking photos in her bathroom, the Jumanji star explained it was because she got the best lighting in there for photos. Photographers should make note of this if they need location ideas for more photoshoots.

With the Fast & Furious franchise still going, Ludacris has been taking some long-deserved bathtub time with his early birthday present just like Karen Gillan and Hayley Atwell had before him. For a long time, Katee Sackhoff was best known for playing Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Battlestar Galactica, but these days, she has an even bigger sci-fi presence thanks to her time in the Star Wars universe as Bo-Katan Kryze, particularly The Mandalorian. That being said, Sackhoff also has a few DC Comics media-related credits under her belt, and with the new DC Universe franchise launching in the coming years, the actress has opened up about wanting to play Poison Ivy on the big screen. That said, she is also fully aware that Karen Gillan is gunning for the same role.

In addition to having played Amunet Black in The Flash TV series, Sackhoff also voiced Poison Ivy in the animated DC movie Batman: The Long Halloween, which is set in the Tomorrowverse timeline. So right off the bat, you’d think that would give her an edge over being looked at to play Poison Ivy in live-action, but as Sackhoff pointed out to The Playlist, Gillan has an even bigger edge because of her relationship with DC Studios co-head James Gunn, saying:

Katee Sackhoff playing Karen Gillan’s mom “again” is a reference to 2013’s Oculus, which saw the former starring as Kaylie Russell in 2013 and the latter appearing as Marie Russell in the movie’s 2002-set scenes. More importantly, Sackhoff is correct that Gillan is unquestionably “closer” to James Gunn since she played Nebula in his Guardians of the Galaxy movies and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, as well as Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder. That, along with Gillan’s hair being naturally red, makes her a stellar fit to play Poison Ivy, who hasn’t been portrayed in a live-action movie since Uma Thurman hammed it up in 1997’s Batman & Robin.

Still, that doesn’t mean Sackhoff should automatically be out of the running for this Batman baddie. After all, one of the few details we know about the DC Universe’s upcoming Batman movie, titled The Brave and the Bold (directed by Andy Muschietti), is that it’ll see Bruce Wayne teaming up with his son, Damian, indicating this Bruce will be an older crimefighter. With Sackhoff being seven years older than Gillan, perhaps she’s in a better age range to pair with this particular Batman. 

Also, don’t forget that Matt Reeves has his The Batman universe going in another corner of the DC multiverse. So even if Gillan or another actress were to be cast as Poison Ivy instead for the new DC Universe, the Battlestar Galactica alum could conceivably be considered for this other continuity if Reeves was interested in bringing to life a more grounded depiction of the character. In this world, Ivy may not be mentally manipulating plant life, but there could still be a good way to have he cause trouble as an ecoterrorist.

Rest assured that if it’s announced Katee Sackhoff and/or Karen Gillan will appear in the DC Universe, whether as Poison Ivy or in other roles, we’ll let you know. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a behemoth property, one with seemingly countless individual franchises. Those fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have their favorites, and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely in that category. The trilogy recently ended with Vol. 3, offering a unique ending for characters like Gamora. The cast of the franchise clearly has great chemistry, and now you can see Karen Gillan call out Dave Bautista for laughing hysterically when he’s trying to get through Drax’s over-the-top lines. Although it doesn't seem like his fault. 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 recently arrived on streaming for those with a Disney+ subscription, and now hardcore Marvel fans have been able to re-watch the blockbuster. Prior to the release of Guardians 3 the cast played a trivia game with CinemaBlend, revealing tidbits of insider information along the way. When asked which actor breaks character the most, Karen Gillan revealed it was definitely Dave Bautista… and explained why. See her funny comments below, courtesy of CinemaBlend’s Instagram: 

Well, she certainly didn’t hesitate. Given how much the cast of Guardians 3 has worked together throughout the trilogy, Holiday special, Avengers movies, and Thor 4 cameo, they really know each other. Gillan likely has plenty of story about Bautista breaking character because of alts given by James Gunn. And yes, there’s video proof on the blooper reel of the threequel.

In the clip, Karen Gillan explains why Dave Bautista is the Guardians cast member who ends up breaking character and laughing while filming. Namely because director James Gunn often throws crazy lines at him to say, as she put it:

Can you blame him? The Guardians movies are known for their comedic beats, with Dave Bautista’s Drax being one of the biggest scene stealers. And on top of saying the scripted lines that he learned ahead of time, the Dune actor also had to perform alts that came to James Gunn on set. Some of these lines were  just too funny to get through with a straight face. At least on the first try. 

Given the great chemistry shared by the Guardians cast and crew, fans out there are bummed that they might never all appear in those roles together again. The ending of Guardians 3 offered satisfying conclusions for the team, and only Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord is confirmed to return sometime in the future. Although I’d definitely like to see more of Nebula and Drax’s life on Knowhere with all those kids.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a giant franchise, but a few properties stand out as fan favorites. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely in that category, thanks to its mixture of comedy and heart. The story of the current team came to an emotional end during Vol. 3, and moviegoers aren’t ready to say goodbye to the beloved characters including the blue meanie Nebula. Karen Gillan got caught awkwardly napping in a weird position on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and there’s no way I could sleep like that.

Filming blockbuster movies is a notoriously grueling process, one filled with long hours. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was likely no exception, particularly given the high emotional stakes. After all, it was one of the most highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movies ahead of its release. I don’t know about you, but I have a back and neck ache just from looking at this image. Despite this, it seems like Karen Gillan was able to get some much-needed rest while filming Guardians 3. Specifically, during the sequence where they were invading Orgocorp for information related to Rocket. 

So what does Karen Gillan think of Gunn calling her out like this on social media? She doesn’t seem to mind much, but did offer her perspective of this nap heard around the world. Apparently she’s got a penchant for stealing naps while on set, as she shared in the comments section:

Well now I want to know where else Gillan took these naps. Did she have a hiding spot on Knowhere? Or maybe on the Guardians’ new ship? Hopefully we get more information sooner rather than later. It sounds like she’s got a superpower of her own: the ability to sleep anywhere. 

While the stakes were high for moviegoers who have watched the Marvel movies in order, James Gunn and company definitely stuck the landing. Guardians 3’s ending was super satisfying, and gave an appropriate sendoff to the various cosmic heroes who have stolen our hearts over the last decade of movies. That includes Nebula, who stayed to rule Knowhere and raise kids with Drax. But could we see her again in the MCU? Only time will tell.

Given James Gunn’s new role as the co-CEO of the DC Universe, it seems unlikely that he’d return to the MCU anytime soon. Although the final title card in Guardians 3 did indicate that Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord would be back. We’ll just have to see when.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 certainly lived up to the hype, and it looks like a number of people really enjoyed the final installment in the trilogy. However, what fans also seem to be living for are the interactions between the actors amid the press tour. Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff have easily been two of the most delightful personalities when it comes to interviews. They two have amazing chemistry and both seem to love the characters they play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That passion is arguably what prompted them to pitch a romantic comedy featuring Peter Quill and Nebula – and I need that to happen now.

It’s no secret that fans would love to see Nebula and Quill hook up. Heck, even James Gunn is aware of the highly popular ship, which one might call “Quebula.” Karen Gillan even theorized that her fan-favorite character has a crush on Star-Lord but can’t quite articulate her thoughts on the matter. The Scottish actress took that hypothesis a step further while she and Pom Klementieff sat down with Screen Rant. Gillan would apparently love to see a rom-com centered around the two characters and knows which classic movie it should take inspiration from. And if that weren’t delightful enough, Klementieff wants Mantis (who’s also been the subject of romantic fan fiction) to pop in as well:

Karen Gillan: I actually really could see a His Girl Friday [for them]. Quippy back-and-forth, witty banter and bickering.
Pom Klementieff: Are you pitching a rom-com? That'd be so fun. Can I be in it too?
KG: Sure, yeah, come on in.
PM: Will you be mean to me again?
KG: Not the rom-com. New rules!

Are you taking notes, Kevin Feige? Because this could be a lot of fun, if I’m being honest. Marvel Studios’ has utilized elements from rom-coms in some of its past movies, with Thor: Love and Thunder being the most prominent example. Just imagine Peter Quill and Nebula realizing their feelings for each other in a breezy, romantic romp set to the backdrop of space. If the two actresses get their way with this one, they apparently want all of the traditional rom-com trappings as well. Pom Klementieff, for her part, knows what season the movie should take place in, and she wants Mantis to be dressed appropriately:

From there, she asked Karen Gillan if she had an ideal choice of attire for Nebula, and the Doctor Who alum responded with a sweet suggestion. She also devised a scenario that could serve as a lovely meet-cute for Neb and Quill: 

If there’s any character who deserves more time to shine in the MCU, it’s Karen Gillan’s Neb. She’s easily one of the most complex individuals in the entire franchise and, quite frankly, some of you have been sleeping on this daughter of Thanos for years. After what she’s been through, she deserves a healthy romance, whether it be with Quill or someone else. The chances of her getting a rom-com at this point are slim, but it still doesn’t hurt for us to manifest the idea alongside Gillan and Pom Klementieff.

Marvel star  Karen Gillan has worn some stunning outfits over the course of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 press tour and has been kind enough to share some of those outfits from the comfort of her bathroom. Rocking boots in a bathtub is an unusual way to celebrate a red carpet-worthy look, but it’s one Gillan has been trying out in recent weeks, and the actress finally explained why she’s been spending so much time in the space.

Apparently, it’s all about the lighting for the actress, who followed up her viral bathtub moment with a separate tub-related post explaining exactly why she chose to take some glamor shots in the lavatory. Some of her MCU collaborators seemingly approved of the move, as James Gunn sent a heart emoji in response and Daniela Melchior commented simply, “legs.”

We all know how important lighting is to a successful photoshoot. Influencers like the Kardashians have shown us how intense some of the setups for simple photo opps can be. In comparison, simply choosing the room in your place with the best lighting is likely a whole lot less effort, and I’m glad the Guardians actress ultimately decided to share what prompted her to take tub photos in the first place. 

It makes me wonder if this is why the bathroom is a favorite haunt of many a celebrity, from Jennifer Lopez, who has favored bathtub selfies in the past, to Miranda Cosgrove, who used some bathroom lighting to sneakily promote her upcoming movie with Brooke Shields. It would explain a lot. Really, though, while bathrooms are often thought of as intimate spaces, I have no problem with them becoming multi-use. In fact, Gillan’s use of the tub as a fashion hub is creative and eye-catching. 

Next up, I wonder what other rooms might have the lighting to become random focal points for social media posts. Kitchens are already popular for certain types of posts, but what’s next? Garages?! Bonus rooms? That unfinished space in your basement where the electric box goes? (That one’s good for emo posts only, thanks!) Just kidding, in all seriousness though, there have to be plenty of creative spaces with interesting lighting that aren’t currently being used by celebrities to their full potential. They should have plenty of extra square footage, and I’d love to see how it could be put to better use. Maybe on the tour for the next upcoming Marvel movie?

Meanwhile, subsequent Instagram photos were not taken in Karen Gillan’s bathroom, which also makes total sense, as one of her next stops was Miami and how could one waste time in the bathroom when one has a view like this?

In the meantime, if you see another celebrity taking a bathroom selfie, you can rest assured now that you have an understanding of why it’s probably happening. Know your lighting.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing and expanding, but there are a few franchises that truly stand out as fan favorites. Guardians of the Galaxy is definitely in that category, especially for those who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order. The release of James Gunn’s threequel brought an emotional end to the current team’s story, and also inspired plenty of discourse online. It turns out Gunn knows that fans are shipping Nebula and Quill, and Karen Gillan has her own Vol. 3 theory. 

The beloved cosmic heroes grew and changed a great deal throughout James Gunn’s trilogy. The ending of Guardians 3 saw happy endings for the characters, although Star-Lord and Gamora never quite reconciled. But it seemed like he and Nebula had a deepening connection, and some fans want to see Peter and the Blue Meanie as a couple. Gunn has heard the chatter, and revealed to the New York Times that actress Karen Gillan’s thoughts, saying:

Well, he certainly didn’t deny it. And as such, those fans hoping to see Peter Quill and Nebula have a romantic connection in an upcoming Marvel movie will likely keep hope alive for that pairing. But the question is: what will their couple name be? Nill? Quibula? Nar-Lord? The possibilities are truly endless.

Gillan’s feelings about Nebula make a great deal of sense, and she obviously knows the character extremely well at this point. While we saw the softer side of Nebula over the years, she’s not known for wearing her heart on her sleeve. So even if she has a crush on Peter, it doesn’t seem likely that she’d tell him. 

Narratively, this was hinted at a few times throughout the runtime of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. One is a funny moment, when Gamora says it sounds like Peter is looking for someone more like Nebula. They have a funny exchange about her eyes, in a clip that even made it to the trailers. But the bigger moment happened when Peter is drunk early in the movie, mistakes Nebula for her sister, and says “I love you, Gamora.” Nebula’s face is heartbreaking in that moment, and seems to hint at bigger feelings.

We’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out. Since all the Guardians surprisingly lived through the threequel, it seems like anything could happen. Guardians 3 is still in theaters now and making money at the box office. In the meantime, check out the 2023 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.

There are so many facets to explore when diving into writer/director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It kind of comes with the territory when you have a project that’s supposed to say goodbye to a group of characters audiences have been in love with for almost a decade, so it’s not a total surprise. However, in honor of this new Marvel movie acting as a victory lap for this interpretation of the classic comic brand, I’d like to take some time to admit that we’ve all been sleeping on Karen Gillan’s Nebula for years.

For several reasons, and a handful of MCU entries, the cybernetically-enhanced adopted sister to Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora hasn’t gotten enough due. Yet with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, that spotlight has finally been finding her, with Gillan and her performance getting a lot of praise in this huge trilogy capstone. It’s about time, and in celebration, I’d like to take some time to heap further praise on why Nebula’s story is one of the most important and most effective arcs in Guardians history.

Karen Gillan’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Arc Has Always Been Quietly Effective

The Guardians of the Galaxy narrative has always been about love in many aspects. The story of romance between Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldaña) has always been one of the most upfront displays of such thematics, and so was the father/son relationship between Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel).

Taking a closer look at Nebula’s story, her tale covers similar ground, but not in as showy of a fashion. Landing one of the most heartbreaking Guardians of the Galaxy gut punches, Karen Gillan’s hardened assassin admits in the middle of Vol. 2 that all she ever wanted was a sister. 

Nebula’s pursuit for love is similar to everyone else's in the fact that she wants to belong and have people who have her back. The big difference is, as we’ll see in another point of order, her result is one that’s more built on personal fulfillment and standing on her own two feet.

Nebula’s Story Further Enhanced The Point Of Rocket's Journey

Here’s something I didn’t really pick up on until getting into The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: Rocket and Nebula are kindred spirits that form yet another lasting friendship in this trilogy. Much like Yondu before her, Nebula’s friendship with Rocket was another strong thread that paralleled our “secret protagonist” and his story. This not only strengthened Rocket’s Guardians storyline, but also gave Nebula some pretty amazing moments to call her own in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. 

Much as Rocket used the intelligence given to him by the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) to eventually become a Guardian and free the animals in his capture, Nebula’s cruel past led to her own great heroism. Using her awesome cybernetic arm to pilot the High Evolutionary’s ship during the big third act rescue mission, it’s another case of someone using their past pain for good.

The cruel “punishments” that Thanos inflicted on Nebula became crucial points in saving the day in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, turning pain into victory. It also kind of makes that moment where Karen Gillan gives a CGI raccoon a metallic prosthetic arm in a Marvel Studios holiday special all the more meaningful when you think about it. 

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Gave Nebula Even More Time To Shine As A Lead

While Gamora was still rightfully a part of the team in this big sendoff, she wasn’t as closely knit into the group this time around. Naturally, that was because of the fact that the Gamora that Star-Lord knew and loved died in Avengers: Infinity War, which added an entire wrinkle that led to one of the best Guardians of the Galaxy decisions made in the film’s plot. 

It also meant that Karen Gillan’s Nebula got to be a functional co-lead with Chris Pratt this round, and how did this not happen sooner in the MCU? You can see why Nebula was such an important part in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, besides her obvious connection to Thanos (Josh Brolin). It’s as if writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely knew that boosting our blue cyberfriend’s profile was going to be key for the future, and James Gunn took that baton and ran with it. 

As such, Karen Gillan still got to be her hysterically deadpan self, while also branching out into some new emotional and comedic beats. Which was especially true when it came to her character’s overall fate. 

Nebula Gets One Of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s Best Endings

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s ending, there were so many ways our heroes could have split apart. More tragic circumstances would have seen valiant sacrifices take a couple to their deaths, but James Gunn actually avoided that cliched approach and let all of our heroes live. Their separation came from growing as people and wanting to accomplish different things, with Nebula having one of the best fates of the entire bunch. 

Sure, she’s given a chance to become a hero and defender in Rocket’s new class of Guardians. But she rejects that, instead choosing to stay on Knowhere for the following reason: 

It’s a Guardians story decision that’s full circle emotional gold. The hardened assassin who was ready to serve Thanos and wipe out half the universe is now trying to make a corner of the stars a little better than she found it. Karen Gillan delivers this line perfectly, showing us that the Nebula we see in front of us is someone we’re familiar with, but also changed in her own way. She sells the moment in its perfection, knowing all the notes to hit a couple of scenes before we see her finally let loose in the big scene that shows her dancing among her future citizens.

Karen Gillan’s Performance Has Always Been Perfectly Balanced, As It Should Be

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 once again proves something the world should definitely recognize at this point in time: Karen Gillan is an ace, period! Doctor Who fans have known it for years from her work as Amy Pond, and now MCU fans are in on the fun thanks to this very tale. 

Nebula is a cybernetically-enhanced character, who, while not totally lacking emotion, doesn’t really do cartwheels for anything or anyone. Gillan has played that aspect of her Marvel villain turned hero with absolutely perfect balance. She’s always sold the lack of emotion in a way that still reminds us that her assassin isn’t a total robot, she’s just hardened by the experiences she’s been through. 

Finally giving her the opportunity to let loose at the end of this Guardians of the Galaxy threequel isn’t merely a moment of comic relief. Just as there’s a reason that one scene where we understand Groot, watching Nebula scream and cheer while dancing means something. We’re seeing a formerly tortured character experience joyful happiness in the moment, and it’s part of why this scene works so well; it might just draw tears from the audience. 

This is the greatest testament to how amazing Karen Gillan has been as Nebula, with almost a decade of performances showing that fact off in great detail. Holding down her character through tons of punchlines, romances and threats to the universe, Gillan’s Nebula has never wavered, remaining a vital piece of the Guardians story since day one. It’s never been flashy, opting for a more subtle reality; which just might be why so many have been sleeping on Karen Gillan throughout the Guardians of the Galaxy saga, and are now finally waking up to the truth.

Just in case you want to celebrate Ms. Gillan’s masterful work through revisiting the entire Guardians of the Galaxy saga, access to a Disney+ subscription will do the trick. As for when or if we’ll see Nebula return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that’s a pretty big question mark at the moment.

Though if I can show one last token of bias, I hope that if this opportunity arises at some point in the future, it’s through showing off how great of a leader she is, rather than just drafting her into battle against the next Avengers-level threat. Nebula’s earned her rest at this point, and it’d be much more interesting to see her adapting to kindness and responsibility, as opposed to just jumping back into battle.

The actress behind Nebula has previously revealed that the process can take four hours to complete, so what the heck does she do while she’s becoming the space assassin? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is among the new Marvel movies of the year. It was released in theaters last weekend to high acclaim from audiences and critics alike. It could very well be the final outing for Karen Gillan’s Nebula, whom she debuted as in the first Guardians movie back in 2014. Considering the actress has been going blue in the makeup chair for the likes of a decade, when the series first began, I’d imagine she’s all caught up in the reality series for a long time. 

As the movie hit theaters this past week, Karen Gillan revealed she once went to couples therapy in full Nebula makeup due to crossing wires with her appointment and filming schedule. As we perhaps say goodbye to these beloved Marvel characters (with the exception of the legendary Star-Lord officially set to return) James Gunn brought to life with the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, it’s fun to hear about the behind the scenes of it all. It sounds like Karen Gillan found a way to make the many hours in the makeup chair a blast for herself. 

It was a moment most probably didn’t think would ever happen, but as the new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 showed us, there’s room for F-bombs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it’s not a huge or flashy moment, the comedically-deployed profanity between Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Karen Gillan’s Nebula is a fun accent to writer/director James Gunn’s grand finale. Gillan herself has not only gone on record as being proud to be a part of it, but she’s also given some more details on how that scene came to be. 

During Marvel’s big press day for this Guardians of the Galaxy sendoff, CinemaBlend was on hand to quiz the cast about various points of trivia throughout Gunn’s trilogy. So it felt fitting that our own Sean O’Connell asked each room about which Guardian swore the most, based on a specific list of words counted as profanity in each installment. 

When that question hit the room of Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff, Gillan revealed the following as the genesis of the MCU’s first F-bomb to CinemaBlend: 

The scene in question sees Nebula and Star-Lord arguing over instructions to open a car door. Seeing as our cybernetically-enhanced friend isn’t familiar with a standard Terran automobile, she has a bit of a problem grasping that you need to hold a button down to, as Peter Quill so sensitively puts it, “Open the fucking door.”

It’s a moment so subtle, but also so shocking, that it doesn’t throw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 off of its rhythm. Knowing that it was an improvised moment, nurtured along by the usually R-rated sensibilities of James Gunn, gives this scene an actual place in the narrative rather than just acting as a “first” in the MCU. It’s also pretty funny to behold, with a moment so small being the one that finally sends Chris Pratt’s Peter into the realm of not-so-family friendly cursing. 

Unfortunately, even with this milestone landing in the lap of Star-Lord, it wasn’t enough to give him the title of the most profane Guardians of the Galaxy character. As you can see to the side, that honor went to Michael Rooker’s dearly departed Yondu, with Peter Quill landing between his blue father figure and Bradley Cooper’s Rocket.

Still, that didn’t stop Karen Gillan from pitching for some extra points on his behalf. While sharing just how honored she was to be a part of Marvel swearing history, Ms. Gillan had a pretty specific request on behalf of her fellow Guardian:

If those five extra points were to count, then Star-Lord’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 outburst would indeed make him the high-score holder. However, those extra points could still be debated by fans and co-stars all around. No matter how you measure this contest, we’ve all won in the end, as Karen Gillan got to share a fun story about swearing in the MCU, and a precedent has now been set for potential future F-bombs. 

That is provided, of course, that they don’t distract from the story or simply exist for the sake of colorful language. Not every movie can be guaranteed to be as R-rated as Deadpool 3 will be, so sprinkling in the salty language will still be something 

Ok, so some of you may be contesting the point being made here, and may want to go back and count the totals for yourselves. That’s fine, in fact we encourage such a thing, especially with every previous Guardians of the Galaxy adventure being available in one place. 

With an active Disney+ subscription, you can go back through each legendary intergalactic romp, and tally up the profanities we specified in the trivia question asked above, to verify this fact for yourself. Keep in mind, those tallies were for the first two films, and those figures will probably change now that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is spinning the hits in theaters now. So perhaps we’ll have to update these standings in the near future to see whether Peter Quill or Rocket Raccoon have a shot at taking the crown. 

We’ve seen Kourtney Kardashian and Padma Lakshmi share bathtub picnics in recent weeks. While food in the tub is a bit of a novelty, so is using the bathroom as the set for a photoshoot. For her new Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premiere weekend, however, that’s exactly what Karen Gillan did. Then she threw on another killer dress that had “seriously, how does it stay on?” vibes. I guess if you’re going to end a trilogy of movies, you might as well go out in style. 

Those boots were made for bathtubs, apparently. They’re Louis Vuitton, and I’m basically obsessed with them. While the high-fashion pair retails for nearly $2500 bucks, the good news is you can get similar boots at a more reasonable price point, like these silver beauties from CircusNY or this similarly black Chelsea knee-high boot from Amazon.

While you may be in or out on the concept of rocking boots in the tub, Karen Gillan has had a lot of great fashion moments in recent weeks. Separately from the bathtub photoshoot, she attended the Miami Multicultural Influencer + Stunted Screening at AMC Sunset Place in a dress that’s seemingly as physics-defying as outfits Kim Kardashian has rocked in the past.

If you look closely there does seem to be some material between the top and bottom halves of the dress, which likely helps to keep it in place, but you still have to think some tape is involved or a slight shift could have turned into a wardrobe malfunction nightmare. I know many of us have horror stories where taping up outfits is concerned, but to Gillan’s credit, she looks cool as a cucumber in this dress. And from what I can tell, she made it through with no wardrobe malfunctions.

I’m not the only one to be impressed with the dress. Several fans also commented, noting, 

• I do not understand the physics of this dress.
• The trust you had in that drape of fabric…
• It's almost like her team said we need you to post more thirst traps... it's working lol

The new Marvel flick is the third film in the trilogy, and while the GOTG 3 end-credits provide hope for a certain character's return, we'll have to wait and see if the same holds true for Nebula. Gillan did give her official goodbye to the character, but many things are possible in the MCU and given Nebula's upgrade, I'd be happy to see the actress return to the role at some point and light up the red carpet with some more inspiring fashion moments. 

In one stylish moment during the opening scene of the recently released Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Karen Gillan’s Nebula carries an intoxicated Peter Quill almost as if he weighs nothing. Chances are you were probably able to mentally zoom out of the fantasy the new Marvel movie creates, leading you to note how impressive it would be for Gillan to actually haul Chris Pratt on set. Now, writer/director James Gunn has given up exactly how the scene was achieved. As it turns out, it was achieved with a scary accurate dummy that resembled Pratt -- and it even breathes! Don't believe me? Well, there's a video to prove it.

James Gunn took to TikTok, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sees impressive opening numbers, to show off some amazing behind-the-scenes wizardry. The practically made Chris Pratt replica was nothing short of incredible. for the scene. This very life-like dummy weighs 35 pounds, and it helped make Gillan’s absolutely badass moment look easy. Check out the video:

In the clip, you can see Chris Pratt was up and moving as Karen Gillan, who was in full Nebula makeup at the time, was instructed to see if she can carry the dummy and walk toward the filmmaker with it. Gillan got so comfy handling the figure that she ended up walking around and doing a little dance with him. Meanwhile, Pratt was off to the side and could be heard asking if the team over at Legacy Effects really used his exact proportions. As it turns out, Pratt did a scan at some point, which allowed them to recreate his body. The end result is creepy (but also cool as heck), huh? Take a look at this, too: 

In addition to that awesome behind-the-scenes video, James Gunn also shared a video of the Chris Pratt dummy “breathing.” Can you imagine how Chris Pratt felt about all of this? Well, Gunn also shot the moment where Pratt decided to hold the replica for himself and the moment is hilarious:

The actor cries out “My poor wife!” who is of course Katherine Schwarzenegger, who shares sweet photos of their two babies.  He saw with his own eyes what his wife looks at when he goes to sleep. He also joked that it was “terrible for his self-esteem” to see what he really looks like face-to-face. Not many of us get to quite literally hold ourselves and see our dimensions for how they are, so I imagine it's a pretty surreal moment.

But the icing on the cake of this whole thing is that James Gunn shared in an interview with IGN that he had the dummy in his office for a few months after filming ended. And apparently, people would come in and “scream” at the sight of it. I can't say that I wouldn't be thrown off by a breathing replica of Chris Pratt. Though by the looks of it, Karen Gillan managed with it just fine.
