Wimbledon is not only one of the biggest tennis tournaments of the year when it comes around each summer — it’s a place for celebrities to see and be seen, with couples like Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro serving looks last year and Ariana Grande using the outing to make quite a (ringless) statement a few years ago. Regardless of who else shows up to this year’s Grand Slam event, though, I don't think anyone is going to outshine Kate Middleton.

Not only did the Princess of Wales show up to take in some matches, she was seen mingling — and even taking selfies — with guests in the line, some of whom reportedly camped out (per People) outside the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in hopes of scoring a ticket:

Princess Catherine was dressed in a blue pantsuit with a white blouse under her blazer, her hair pulled back in a ponytail, showing gorgeous earrings that matched a ring on her finger. Her appearance at Wimbledon is a return to tradition, as she has attended almost every year since marrying Prince William in 2011.

In addition to mingling with other tennis fans, Kate Middleton met with the club’s Honorary Stewards — volunteers who welcome guests and manage the crowd — and took some time with children from Shine Camera Club, which helps kids from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop confidence in their photography skills. I’d say getting praise and feedback from the princess does seem like it would be quite the motivator!

Kate Middleton — who is an avid player herself — also got to actually take in some tennis during her appearance. Traditionally, she has attended early rounds of the Grand Slam tournament, as well as the finals, but for the past couple of years that was scaled back as the princess received treatment for cancer.

In both 2024 and 2025, she only attended the finals weekend, so seeing her in the early days of this year’s Wimbledon Tournament was an exciting sight for fans. She certainly seemed to be enjoying herself, smiling as she talked to AELTC chair Deborah Jevans and former tennis legend Tim Henman in the stands.

The Princess of Wales has been the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, taking over for Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. July 2 may have been her first appearance at the tournament, but she’s likely to return at least for the finals on Sunday, July 12, to present the winners’ trophies.

The royal appearance kicks off what is sure to be an exciting couple of weeks, and I’m hoping to see a lot of big celebrity fashion wins (in addition to some great tennis, of course).

After all, Wimbledon — in addition to being the setting of some of the best tennis movies — has given us some memorable moments, like when Zendaya went blonde and a pregnant Margot Robbie stunned in polka dots while on a date with husband Tom Ackerley. A smartly dressed Tom Cruise even brought his Mission: Impossible 7 co-stars to the big event back in 2021.

A “faithful” Harry Potter TV series is happening at HBO Max with casting and filming underway. Even Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden has a mini-town built for the show that includes a real school for the child actors, animal sanctuaries, and more to make the Wizarding World feel all the more real for the cast and crew. The luckiest ducks to get to visit the bewitching Harry Potter set would be Kate Middleton and her children, with an insider disclosing why it allegedly was especially “magical” for Prince Louis.

Back when the Harry Potter movies came out, Kate Middleton’s children weren’t even born yet. With The Boy Who Lived making his way to TV in 2027, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis can experience The Wizarding World in a way that no other fan of the J.K. Rowling series has.

The Hogsmeade Station set for Harry Potter, built on Windsor Great Park, was a short distance away from the Royal Family’s Forest Lodge home. Therefore, the Princess of Wales couldn’t let this opportunity go to waste, as The Daily Mail reported that she took her children for a visit to the streaming series set, with an insider talking about what the experience was allegedly like for them all:

That sounds like a real enchanting visit if I’ve ever heard of one. That Friday night, Kate Middleton and her kids got to meet the new Harry, Ron, and Hermione actors as well as watch some scenes being filmed. As Queen Camilla revealed in 2017 that Prince Charles would read to his grandkids the Harry Potter books, this must have been a real dream come true for the young royal kiddies.

However, it wasn’t the first time Kate Middleton and her children ventured into the Wizarding World set. Earlier that week, on a separate occasion, they all took a sneak peek at the £4million set built in Windsor, Berkshire, that duplicated the Scottish Highlands where the fantasy book series was set. Multiple set visits and getting to experience the behind-the-scenes filmmaking firsthand reveal the British family’s growing fascination with the magical world of Harry Potter.

If you can imagine visiting the Harry Potter set being a breathtaking experience for Kate Middleton and her two eldest children, the same insider said it was reportedly “magical” for Middleton’s third child, Prince Louis. Here’s the alleged reason why, and it’s relatable for any Harry Potter fan:

When looking back at where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family started to sour, the Sussexes’ wedding seems to be a point of contention. By all accounts, there were issues with Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress not fitting, leading to a spat that left one or both of the women in tears. Now, a new biography gives a different perspective, saying that what was reported isn’t what happened.

What A New Biography Says About Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton’s Argument

The story that circulated following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 wedding was that Prince William’s wife had reached out to Meghan Markle about her daughter’s dress not fitting, and that the Suits actress’ response had left Kate Middleton in tears. Markle claimed the opposite.

However, a royal staff member quoted in the new biography Yes, Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants by Tom Quinn says the argument wasn’t one-sided, revealing (via Newsweek):

Contrary to what has been reported and what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have each said, it was not a case of one royal attacking the other, but rather both women getting upset as they each allegedly said things while emotions were running high.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Gave Different Accounts

That not only goes against what was reported in the press, but also what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said since stepping away from their royal duties. In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle disputed the story that she had made Kate Middleton cry, claiming, “the reverse happened,” and the now-Princess of Wales had apologized and sent her flowers afterward.

Prince Harry’s corroboration of his wife’s version of the story was among the allegations in his memoir Spare, saying he found Meghan “on the floor sobbing” after her exchange with his sister-in-law.

So if it’s true that both royal wives were reduced to tears, how did the story become altered when it hit the papers? The staff member quoted in Yes Ma’am addressed that, too, saying:

Meghan Markle has said the whole incident was a “turning point” in her relationship with Kate Middleton. So, it’s not really surprising that this incident is used to represent the overall strife within the family.

This new book comes amid reports that Meghan Markle has continued to use her royal title since moving back to the United States and that Prince William plans to put an end to that when he becomes king. It also seems that the royal family isn’t speaking to Prince Harry and his wife.

The years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave their duties as official royals (as well as leaving England) have been anything but completely smooth sailing, for them or the main royal family members they left behind. There’s a lot of bad blood between the Sussexes and King Charles II, as well as Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. However, one royal expert has now revealed the reason that Middleton might be willing to reconcile before too much longer.

Why Kate Middleton Might Be Willing To Reconcile With Prince Harry And Meghan Markle

Even though leaving fully royal life has, ostensibly, given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle more of the freedom they said they wanted and should have alleviated many of the pressures of being seen as leaders, they’ve still been under a tremendous amount of scrutiny.

And, because of their desire to tell their side of the story behind why they made the choice they did (through things like their bombshell Oprah interview, Netflix’s intense Harry & Meghan docuseries, and the prince’s allegation-filled memoir, Spare) that’s led to a lot more scrutiny for the rest of the royals, as well, and a lot of hurt feelings and anger have caused a two-way rift between the Sussexes and William and his wife, particularly. Now, though, royal reporter Katie Nicholl has told The Sun that William is still “very angry,” adding:

Harry and Markle, of course, infamously alleged that some people in the royal family made racist comments about the former Suits actress, as well as questioning what the tone of their son, Archie’s, skin would be like before he was born. That eventually led many to point the racism finger at Middleton and King Charles. The Duke of Sussex also claimed in his book that his brother and Middleton were involved in his controversial decision to wear a Nazi costume to a party back in 2005. Nicholl continued:

And, why might Middleton be closer to a reconciliation than her husband is right now, you ask? Well, it supposedly has everything to do with the particularly rough year that she’s had, as Nicholl explained:

The very early months of 2024 saw Middleton skip numerous official occasions, which led to a lot of rumors about why she hadn’t been seen. Late March saw her reveal her cancer diagnosis, which (one can assume) allowed her some time to adjust to the scary news with her family and decide on a course of action with her doctors. She did provide an update in June, noting that she was far from “out of the woods,” but beginning to work a bit more as she took things one day at a time.

Nicholl believes that what Middleton is going through could help spell the end of the broken family bonds, especially with the holidays quickly approaching:

Obviously, there’s been no official word on whether or not the Sussexes and their children have been invited to visit Prince William and his family for the holidays, but, either way, hopefully each family will get some peace and joy for the end of the year.

A lot of people have strong opinions about Meghan Markle, and frankly, a lot of them are not good. Critics have been coming for her since before she and Prince Harry chose to exit the Royal Family and move to the United States, and things have only gotten more contentious since the couple began dropping bombshells about their reasons for doing so. However, Markle does have her supporters as well, and one royal correspondent praised her for speaking out, as she is allegedly not alone in being a “victim of abuse.”

In August, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spoke jointly about The Parents’ Network, an initiative launched through their Archewell Foundation to help families of children lost to online abuse and those struggling with it. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond applauded Markle’s efforts in speaking out about the online hate she receives, and says the Duchess of Sussex isn’t the only Royal Family member to endure such treatment. Bond told GBNews:

Specifically, Jennie Bond named Sarah Ferguson and Kate Middleton as two women who allegedly faced scrutiny similar to what Meghan Markle endured when they married into the family. The expert continued:

Today, Kate Middleton is the most popular member of the Royal Family, posting a 66% favorability rating in an Ipsos survey from September — the same month she returned to royal duties following treatment for cancer, which she revealed to the public in March. However, as Jennie Bond pointed out, it wasn’t always that way.

Back in 2010 the Princess of Wales opened up about the “nerve-wracking” process of marrying into Prince William’s family and spoke of the nasty things said about her online and in the press.

Sarah Ferguson has been candid in the past about her own self-esteem issues stemming from public comments made when she became the Duchess of York. On her 2011 reality show, Fergie said at the time she saw herself as “unlovable” and “worthless.”

It’s disheartening to hear that marrying into the Royal Family has been so rough on these women, and despite public opinion of her — Meghan Markle was just 21% favorable in the same Ipsos poll — hopefully her efforts to fight online hate will help lots of people going forward.

As for whether the rift between Prince Harry and his family can ever be repaired — following the release of the docuseries Harry & Meghan (available to stream with a Netflix subscription) and his memoir Spare, which makes several allegations about the Royal Family — is another question. Some reports suggest the Duke of Sussex wants to mend the rift, while others say the relationship between King Charles III and his youngest son is at an all-time low.

We’ll have to wait and see if there’s any mending of these fences down the road.

So, it’s refreshing to hear them talk about their kids and their “competitive side.”

Overall, this story is super cute, and it’s a rare candid peek into the royal couple’s lives as parents. It also highlights that even though they are royal, they are down to clown sometimes during fun events like their kids’ sports days.

As I said, we don't often get what is seemingly a candid look into the Prince and Princess of Wales' personal lives.

Amid Middleton’s cancer recovery process and reports about Royal Family drama, it’s nice to get a reprieve and personal story about this couple. They clearly had a lot of fun during that sports day, and as the comments and I can attest, we loved hearing it.

Every four years, the world tunes in to watch the summer Olympics and major public figures turn up to spectate in person, and this year has been no different. The Paris games have taken over the 2024 TV schedule, and many have flocked to the City of Lights to see the competitions, including members of Britain’s Royal Family. Notably, however, Kate Middleton has not been there. Now, some are wondering if the Princess of Wales will make the trip across the English Channel during the final week of the games. However, the answer to this question isn’t a simple yes or no.

Over the course of the last few days, multiple reports have noted that Kate Middleton wants to attend the Paris Olympics. However, it’s all dependent on her health. Since the Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis publically, she’s made two major public appearances: the Trooping the Colour and the men’s singles final at Wimbledon. An insider told Express that she reportedly wants to make the trip for the games, saying:

As of right now, Prince William is reportedly expected to appear at the games in France, and allegedly it’s “likely” that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be with him.

When it comes to Kate traveling to Paris, details are still up in the air. The insider claimed that there hasn’t been a decision made, and it's dependent on what her doctors say. According to the article, her appearance at Wimbledon was only announced one day before it happened, so that may also be the case with the Olympics.

Back in March, Middleton disclosed her cancer diagnosis, saying that after having abdominal surgery in January, tests found cancer in her.

Royal author Phil Dampier also weighed in on the complex decision behind Kate Middleton attending the Olympics, telling The Sun:

He went on to say that she’ll likely be “pacing herself” when it comes to public appearances and that she needs to be “careful:”

Back in June, Middleton provided a health update, saying “treatment is ongoing,” and that she was “looking forward” to “a few public engagements over the summer.” So, it’s entirely possible that if she’s feeling up to it, we’ll see her in France.

So far, we’ve spotted many celebrities at the games. We saw Christopher Meloni hanging out with Snoop Dogg. Tom Cruise and Sarah Jessica Parker were seen with Hoda Kotb. Heck, even Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were spotted cheering on gymnasts. Also, France’s president Emmanuel Macron was supporting his Léon Marchand and his country's swimmers. So, we’ve seen a wide range of folks at these games. Now, the question centers around whether Kate Middleton will be able to support Team GB in person.

Reports suggest that she wants to, however, allegedly, it will all depend on her health, which makes sense.

Even if you don’t happen to be much of a royal-watcher, you probably know that the British royal family, in particular, is one that really likes to keep up appearances, especially in public. This generally means being on one’s best behavior and looking either prim and proper or pleased as punch to be anywhere and perform any duty, even if that’s just standing around in your fanciest clothes. Well, the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t always so obliging when it comes to that rule, and Prince Louis has become known for making silly faces. Now, we’ve heard what Middleton allegedly thinks of his child-like propensity.

What Does Kate Middleton Supposedly Think Of Prince Louis Making Silly Faces At Events?

Kids just do the darndest things, don’t they? I don’t think there’s an adult in the world who either hasn’t tried to stop a kid from acting up in public, or who doesn’t remember being scolded as a child themselves for being a little too much while out and about. Now, just imagine what would have happened if you clowned at something as official as a royal event, like the youngest child (after George and Charlotte) of Kate Middleton and Prince William, 6-year-old Prince Louis, did when attending Trooping the Colour in June. He showed off a variety of hilarious silly faces during the military-focused event, and a source just told OK Magazine what his mom supposedly thinks of his behavior, and said:

A lot has been said over the past several years about the expectations heaped upon those in the royal family, so it’s very good to hear that Middleton isn’t overly concerned about what they do in public, at least within reason. After all, who among us didn’t have to attend some staid family event where we had to sit/stand still and be quiet for way too long when we were kids, only to yawn a few times or roll our eyes? The little prince is currently exhibiting perfectly normal kid behavior!

When Louis’ older brother George was just a newborn, Prince William had already proudly declared that his first child was “a little rascal,” and definitely took after himself and Prince Harry when they were youngsters. So, it seems that Louis (who was born in April 2018) is only displaying some noted family traits when he does things like go viral for looking completely bored at the coronation of King Charles. 

Of course, the family is going through a tough time right now, with Middleton still battling cancer, as well as Charles dealing with his own cancer diagnosis (after which Harry took a short trip to visit the king). Really, it’s just nice to hear that the mom of three wants her kids to be kids for as long as possible. There’s plenty of time for them to adopt that famous stiff upper lip the royals have long been known for.

The British Royal Family attends a wide range of events throughout a calendar year and, as expected, the brood typically appears both dapper and dignified on such occasions. Additionally, though, one particular member of the clan manages to stand out for other reasons. Prince Louis, the 6-year-old son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, has become humorously notorious for making faces whenever he’s seen in public. The young man made another set of hilarious expressions again this weekend, as he and his family celebrated Trooping the Colour. 

For those who are unfamiliar with it, Trooping the Colour is an annual military event that marks the birthday of the British Sovereign. It involves hundreds of military officers and horses, and a number of musicians provide performances as well. So, needless to say, this is a big to-do. However, that didn’t really seem to phase Prince Louis, as he stood with his family and watched the festivities from the balcony of Buckingham Palace. One snapshot showed the adorable kid yawning amid the Royal Air Force’s flyover. Take a look: 

That shot of the child alone is funny, but this next one might top it. At another moment, the royal’s visage conveyed a sense of confusion, and it was totally apparent. Truth be told, it sort of gives off “WTF” vibes. See for yourself:

It’s funny to think that years ago, Louis’ dad, Prince William, once referred to his older son, George, as a rascal. But the older prince, who’s now 10, is quite reserved compared to his young sibling. Speaking of William, though, there was also a moment during Trooping the Colour when he gave Louis an ear tug. And that ultimately led to yet another animated expression from his child: 

To say that Prince Louis was living his best life at the event would be an understatement. Aside from making faces, X users captured the moment that he began dancing during the bagpipe procession. The young man was apparently dancing to the point that his older sister, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, playfully scolded him in the same clip. Louis certainly has a lot of energy by the looks of it, but I won’t front the kid for having a bit of fun. 

It was confirmed in September 2017 that William and Kate Middleton had a third child on the way. Ultimately, Middleton had baby No. 3 in April 2018. In time, Louis has become a beloved part of the British brood, in part due to his playful tendencies. He previously went viral for looking bored at the coronation of King Charles in 2023. Users across the Internet gleefully responded with funny comments. That particular event was funny for a few reasons, including the hat-blocking shade thrown around. 

As far as Prince Louis goes, I’d think that this won’t be the last time that he’ll put on such a display during an event like Trooping the Colour. Quite frankly, it’s hard not to find the little guy entertaining. And the reactions from others across the web would seem to suggest that I’m not alone in feeling that way.

Before that, there had been a lot of speculation about why she hadn't been seen publically, and she explained that after getting abdominal surgery in January, she found out she had cancer. Now, the Princess of Wales has provided an update on her health as well as her Royal plans for the summer. 

Kate Middleton took to X to provide an in-depth update on The Prince and Princess of Wales' official account. She explained that she's making "good progress," however, as recovery goes, there are ups and downs. Explaining how treatment is going, she wrote:

When her diagnosis was announced, and since then, we haven’t learned much about the Princess of Wales’ condition. The type of cancer she has is not known to the public and other details have been kept private. 

As she continues to rest and recover, she's also excited to getting back to her royal duties. In the statement, she explained her plans for the summer and some of the upcoming events she's looking forward to:

According to NYT, King Charles “is delighted” that Middleton will be at the event, which is tomorrow. Along with that, as she said, she’s working from home at the moment, and palace officials reported that as she recovers she’ll be consulting with her doctors as she decides which events to attend. Overall, she’s hoping to attend a handful of events over the course of the summer.

Before it was known that she had cancer, there was a lot of speculation about where Middleton was, because she hadn’t been seen publicly in months. Eventually, the speculation turned into a joke after the family photo controversy, as people like Blake Lively made jokes about it and Tucker Carlson got pranked over it. 

Amid all of that, Middleton did make a public appearance, and not long after she announced her cancer diagnosis. Those who poked fun at all this apologized, including Andy Cohen and Lively.  Since then, we haven’t learned much about her health, so it’s nice to hear that she’s doing well and recovering. 

As her statement said, she’s “learning how to be patient,” and she’s “listening” to her body during this difficult time. Obviously, as she wrote, recovery has its ups and downs, but all things considered the Princess of Wales seems to be doing well and she’s thrilled to start getting back to work. 

For the last few months, there has been a ton of reporting about Kate Middleton, her health and the online frenzy over where she had been. Eventually, she opened up about why she hadn't been seen publically, explaining that she'd been diagnosed with cancer. Now, The BBC is facing criticism for how it has covered this topic, with some calling its coverage "excessive and insensitive," and the network has responded to the claims.

The BBC released a statement, via THR, addressing the criticism it has received for its coverage of Kate Middleton. It noted that "not everyone would have approved of the approach we took," and then explained said approach, noting that its work:

On March 22, Kate Middleton released a video explaining that she’d been diagnosed. This came after she had abdominal surgery in January, which was followed by tests that concluded she had cancer. In the statement, she also explained that she and Prince William wanted to “manage this privately:” 

This statement came after months of speculation, conspiracies, and Middleton’s alleged first public appearance on March 18. Many joked about the princess’s whereabouts as well as the doctored family photo that was posted of her and her kids before she announced her diagnosis. Since then, celebrities like Blake Lively released a statement and Andy Cohen formally apologized for making light of the Princess of Wales’ situation. 

Doubling down on its coverage, The BBC noted in its statement that it has carefully covered the situation, explaining:

The public broadcaster clarified that it used its coverage to explain "that this is a difficult time for the princess and the rest of the Royal Family," also noting:

Many around the world who keep their finger on the pulse of the Royal Family were alarmed at Kate Middleton’s absence from public life over the past few months — despite word from the palace that she was recovering from surgery. Rumors continued to spread until the Princess of Wales herself released a video to reveal that she’d been diagnosed with cancer. The aftermath has seen backlash against those who made light of the situation, including Andy Cohen, who had indulged in conspiracy theories, and the What Happens Live host would like to formally apologize.

Andy Cohen’s radio show had been on hiatus since the announcement, but immediately upon his return to the airwaves, the host opened with a statement regarding Kate Middleton. He said on SiruisXM’s Andy Cohen Live: 

Leading up to Kate Middleton’s announcement, Andy Cohen had helped to fuel conspiracy rumors, tweeting, “That ain’t Kate….” when the princess allegedly made her first public appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery. He also spoke on his Daddy Diaries podcast about the Prince William affair rumors, and how it all “seems to come back to this lady Rose.”

He now seems to have some regret about his role in fueling any of the conversations surrounding the Prince and Princess of Wales as they and their three children deal with the diagnosis. 

Andy Cohen isn’t the only celeb to backtrack following Kate Middleton’s news, either. Blake Lively had trolled the princess over the viral Mother’s Day Photoshop fiasco by posting a terribly doctored image to her Instagram account in promotion of her Betty Booze and Betty Buzz beverages, joking, “Now you know why I’ve been MIA.” The Gossip Girl star has since deleted the image and issued an apology, saying she was “mortified” by her “silly post” in light of the news.

Until her announcement in March, Kate Middleton hadn’t been seen publicly since Christmas Day. The Royal Family had previously stated that she would be hospitalized to undergo stomach surgery and would remain out of the limelight until April as she recovered. However, even knowing that, her absence sparked concern, which was likely compounded by King Charles III’s own cancer diagnosis. 

However, the jokes and shots being taken at the royals’ expense hit different after Princess Kate’s March 22 statement, in which she revealed:

She said her medical team had recommended a "course of preventative chemotherapy" and explained that the news had come as a huge shock to their family and had “taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be OK.”

The speculation couldn’t have made that process any easier, so it’s good to see people like Andy Cohen coming forward to apologize for their part in the added stress.

Kate Middleton’s absence from the public eye caused quite a brouhaha for the past couple of months, ahead of Friday’s announcement that she’s been diagnosed with cancer. Her statement followed what the palace called a “planned abdominal surgery,” followed by weeks of speculation about her whereabouts and well-being. So while it was no surprise that she didn’t attend the Irish Guard’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration amidst all this, she did make her presence known by putting up $2,500 for her soldiers at a local bar.

As part of her royal duties, Kate Middleton serves as the Colonel of the Irish Guards, and in 2023 she and Prince William were photographed drinking pints of Guinness at the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year, however, the festivities went on without her, but she still found a way to honor her troops. Following the parade, the Daily Mail reports that members of the Irish Guards were reportedly thrilled to learn that she’d put up the British equivalent of about $2,500 at a regimental bar in Aldershot for the celebrations to continue.

Continue they did, as the tabloid estimates that amount could buy at least 700 pints of Guinness, so hopefully a good time was had by all.

A heavily Photoshopped image of Kate and her three children posted on Mother’s Day in the U.K. raised suspicions even further, and even reports that she’d made her first public appearance post-surgery were met with skepticism.

With everything the Royal Family has been dealing with health-wise over the past few months, and having to explain the cancer to Prince William and Kate Middleton's three children, all of the rumors and speculation couldn’t have made it any easier. I'm sure her generous gift to the Irish Guards didn’t go unappreciated by the soldiers, but it likely means even more now to know that she was thinking of them and ensuring the libations were flowing during their recent celebration.

Blake Lively's apology comes a few hours after Kate Middleton posted a video announcing that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The cancer was found after the Princess of Wales had abdominal surgery, and she said that her family has been "doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family." 

Before this statement, many wondered where Kate Middleton was, while rumors and theories were flying left and right. She allegedly made her first public appearance a few days ago, however, this video was the major thing that clarified where she's been. 

Over the last couple of weeks, before knowing about the diagnosis, people on the internet were making fun of this whole situation. Things really ramped up when a family photo was posted, and it appeared to be doctored in Photoshop. Taking to X to address the image, the Princess of Wales said she would "occasionally experiment with editing," and she apologized for the photo. 

Not long after that photo went viral, Blake Lively posted an ad for her brand Betty Buzz that featured her and some lemons, and elements of the photo were clearly poorly edited in post. The caption seemingly nodded at the situation with Kate Middleton, as the actress wrote:

Now, the image has been deleted from Instagram, and as you can see above, Lively issued a formal apology. While she never said the Princess of Wales' name, the timing of both the ad and this statement allude to the fact that it was related to it. 

Of course, Blake Lively is known for trolling her husband Ryan Reynolds online and advertising her companies in funny and cheeky ways. However, many of the comments on the Photoshop post at the time were negative, saying it wasn't funny. Now, The Age of Adaline star has taken the post down and formally apologized for it.

In a video posted to The Prince and Princess of Wales X page, Middleton explained her health update, noting that after abdominal surgery, which the public was aware of, she later found out through tests that she has cancer:

Continuing her statement, Middleton did not address the online discourse, and she explained that her medical team has recommended a "course of preventative chemotherapy." She's in the early stages of her treatment now.

The Princess of Wales explained that the last few months have been “incredibly tough” for her family. Along with Middleton’s diagnosis, King Charles also has cancer, and in January they were both hospitalized – the princess for abdominal surgery, and the king for an enlarged prostate. Following that announcement, Prince Harry traveled to the UK for a private conversation with his father. Along with that, rumors have swirled about both Charles and Kate’s health, making this situation something that has grabbed the world’s attention. 

Addressing why she hasn’t really been seen publicly, Middleton said she's been trying to handle this privately with her family. Telling viewers about how she’s been working through this diagnosis with Prince William and her children, she said:

Reiterating their request for privacy, Middleton said that “time, space and privacy” are needed right now as she goes through treatment.

Now the question is whether or not this will quell the ongoing chatter about her health and safety.

Blake Lively Seemingly Trolled The Kate Middleton Photoshop Fiasco

Blake Lively, who is no stranger to trolling her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and using her platform to promote her brands in funny ways, took to Instagram to seemingly troll this Photoshop fiasco and promote Betty Buzz. Uploading a terribly photoshopped image that features mishaps like clearly faked lemons and a thumbs up when she’s seemingly tossing the lemon up, the actress/business owner posted:

Notably, in the caption, the Gossip Girl alum seemed to allude to the current situation with Middleton by poking fun at her statement about editing the Royal Family photo and people thinking the Princess of Wales is missing by writing:

Lively posting about her Pantashoes through a hilarious IG upload and her frequent Instagram hijinks with Reynolds show that a post like this is on-brand for her. She was clearly poking fun at the viral situation, and the comments didn’t fall for it as many either found it hilarious or thought the post was rude.

However, while people weren’t falling for Blake Lively’s post, in a different corner of the internet, Tucker Carlson did fall for a prank all about Kate Middleton and that viral family photo. 

Tucker Carlson Was Pranked Live On Air Over The Kate Middleton Situation 

Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson was on the opposite end of the hijinks surrounding Middelton as he was pranked by British YouTubers Josh & Archie. In the YouTube video about the prank, the creators explained that Archie Manners reached out to Carlson’s people pretending to be Middleton’s digital content creator, saying he had edited the viral photo. They also said he had been fired for the Photoshop job.

The video shows the phone call Manners had with the head of content for Carlson, and she asked him for some sort of proof that he had altered the photo. They then created a fake family photo and a letter of employment that was written so, as Josh Pieters explained:

He even said he added a clause that stated Archie would have a limb amputated if he didn’t pass the “probationary period.” Check out the post below:

Then, the interview was confirmed and scheduled. In the clip of the interview that’s used in the YouTube video from Josh & Archie, Carlson can be seen saying his team vetted him before the interview, and they tried to make sure he wasn’t “a fake Navalny or doing a prank or anything.” At the end of the interview, the reporter also complimented Manners, saying it was “great.” 

Well, it was actually a prank, and Tucker Carlson fell for it, as you can see in the viral Tweet of the video above. 

At the time of this writing, Carlson hasn’t responded to the prank, and the official interview hasn’t aired. The YouTubers got their video up before the interview was scheduled to go up on Carlson's page.  

These two situations truly go to show just how big this situation surrounding Kate Middleton a Photoshopped photo of her family has gone. At the moment, the general public doesn't know what happened to her or why the image was altered, but clearly, the internet can't stop making fun of it.

Meghan Markle has seemingly been the target of constant criticism when it comes to her place in the royal family, especially since she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior members of the brood in 2020. The topic came up on Celebrity Big Brother (UK), on which Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith is a contestant, as he slammed the Suits star for breaking up “the threesome” of Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate. These new comments come as the Duchess of Sussex herself opened up about haters online and when things were the worst for her. 

Meghan Markle Said Bullying Was Worst During Her Pregnancies 

Social media was a big part of the discussion at the panel on “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen" at South by Southwest on March 8, where Meghan Markle was one of the keynote speakers. She opened up about the hate she has received and revealed that it really peaked when she was pregnant. Markle told the SXSW audience (via ET): 

The mom of two seemed incredulous that people could be so cruel during such a sacred time in her life, and now — with Archie 4 years old and Lilibet 2 — the Duchess said she isn’t very active on those platforms, which she said can have a positive impact but also can potentially have a “tremendously negative effect on someone's mental health [and] their physical safety.”

The actress may be able to largely avoid the negativity, but that doesn’t mean people aren’t still talking.

Kate Middleton’s Uncle Slams Meghan Markle For Breaking Up "The Threesome"

It didn’t take long for Gary Goldsmith to weigh in on the most controversial member of the royal family after making his debut on the U.K.’s version of Celebrity Big Brother. Kate Middleton’s uncle unsurprisingly lauded the Prince and Princess of Wales as the “savior[s] of the royal family,” via US Weekly, while lamenting what happened when Meghan Markle started dating Prince Harry. Goldsmith said: 

Prince William and Kate Middleton started dating in 2003, more than a decade before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met in 2016. That’s a long time for Harry to bond with his sister-in-law. But, of course, the dynamics would change when he met the woman who would become his wife.

The Netflix series Harry & Meghan, as well as allegations made in Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare haven’t done his relationships any favors. Kate Middleton didn’t escape the mud-slinging, either, as the Duke of Sussex said she had a role in his wearing a controversial Nazi costume to a party in 2005. 

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly reached out to Kate Middleton amid her recent hospitalization, but it’s unknown if the gesture is a sign that a reconciliation is still possible. Markle was not present when Prince Harry returned to the UK following King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.

At this point, those who follow the exploits of the British Royal Family are surely aware that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – have been mostly estranged from their relatives. This is due to a number of claims that Harry and his wife have leveled against his father, King Charles, older brother, Prince William, and more. Though they’ve all reportedly been on the outs, the Duke and Duchess did apparently reach out amid the hospitalizations of the King as well as William’s wife, Kate Middleton. Could this indicate that a reconciliation might be on the horizon, though? Well, a royal expert shared some thoughts on that prospect.

It goes without saying that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to connect with their family at this time is a big deal, considering what’s been reported as of late. Despite that, the public may not want to read into this too deeply, it seems. Royal family expert Katie Nicholl caught up with ET to discuss the matter, and she doesn’t seem too convinced that the family will be warmly embracing anytime soon. She does believe that there is a specific reason the couple decided to reach out, though Nicholl opines that it doesn’t have anything to do with an eagerness to clear the air: 

Kate Middleton was recently admitted to the hospital after undergoing abdominal surgery and subsequently had to remain there for days before she could continue her recovery at home. As for King Charles, he was hospitalized while seeking treatment for an enlarged prostate, and he's since been discharged. So, based on Katie Nicholl’s sentiments above, the Duke and Duchess’ decision to drop a line represents a sign of courteousness more than anything else. Still, Nicholl does wonder whether there might still be an opportunity for all parties to make amends: 

There’s a lot of supposed emotional baggage at this point at this point, as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made allegations against the family on their docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription. Additionally, Harry made claims in his memoir, Spare, saying that his father made hurtful jokes about him and that William “attacked” him during an argument years ago. When Markle and her husband were interviewed by Oprah in 2021, she accused the family of making racist comments and described an incident that allegedly went down between her and Kate Middleton.

For their part, the royals have seemingly sought to distance themselves from the allegations, though it’s still been said that they hold tense feelings about their relatives, who are currently living in the United States. One source even previously said that King Charles is “punishing” Prince Harry by limiting the amount of access he can have with him, if he needs to touch base. William also apparently has strong feelings about Spare, specifically that he was “upset” by it. 

What’s interesting is that a commonality with the past reports and the more recent assessment from Katie Nicholl is that a reconciliation isn’t completely out of reach. The public, for the time being, can only continue to speculate as to whether these current medical situations might start a spark that ultimately brings these relatives back into each other’s good graces.

The saga of The Crown and the dramatized reign of Queen Elizabeth II is coming to an end with the second half of Season 6, and the show has never been closer to catching up to present day. Gone are the days of Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher and King George VI; viewers will see the Netflix drama's take on Prince William and Kate Middleton's early days of courtship. That includes an iconic sheer dress, and it's worth digging into how it captured the attention of the future king.

Meg Bellamy joined the cast of The Crown to play Kate Middleton opposite Ed McVey as Prince William, and the story of William and Kate will include an infamous encounter from 2002, when both were students at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. While the series that ranks as one of the best shows to binge-watch on Netflix will presumably take some liberties with the true story, Today reports that Middleton's outfit during a student fashion show is said to have caught the prince's attention in real life. 

The real-life version of the dress was constructed for less than $50 in 2002 by the future husband and wife's classmate Charlotte Todd for the school's fashion show, known as "The Art of Seduction," according to People. According to Todd, it was "just pure chance" that the then-19-year-old Kate Middleton ended up in the sheer dress. Todd shared "everyone says that the fashion show was when the romance started." The dress was knitted and see-through from almost top to bottom.

It's safe to say that the version of the dress that appears in the second half of Season 6 cost a lot more than the less than $50 for the original! The Crown's dress was designed by lead costume designer Amy Roberts and associate designer Sidonie Roberts, who used brown and gold net fabric in a layer, with blue ribbon at the bottom and a blue band at the top. Amy Roberts said this about the dress, via Tudum:

Ed McVey didn't see Meg Bellamy in the dress before they began filming the pivotal scene, and the actor revealed that "what you see was the first couple of takes of me just being wowed by her."

Yet another book centered around the British royal family has been released, and it seems to be causing quite a stir. Omid Scobie’s Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival examines the current state of the high-profile brood and features a number of allegations. Within the text, King Charles and Kate Middleton were accused of being the royals who allegedly made racially insensitive comments about the skin tone of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son, Prince Archie. As of this writing, Charles and Middleton have yet to publicly address the matter, and a royal expert has thoughts on how they should proceed. 

The King and Princess of Wales both appeared alongside their significant others, Queen Camilla and Prince William, nearly a week ago at a Buckingham Palace reception. That reportedly marked the first time they’d appeared together in public since the racism accusations came to light. They’d also made separate appearances in the public eye since the situation began and, in all cases, they’ve remained mum on the speculation. One particular person believes this approach to be an error on their parts. 

Jack Royston, Newsweek’s head royal correspondent, discussed the matter with Business Insider, which attempted to reach the palace for comment but to no avail. In Royston’s perspective, the pair of royals should address the claims, and the journalist also believes they have a “limited window” to do so and have their constituents be receptive. The pundit also argued that the two should discuss the matter in an open manner because a topic like race is within the “public interest.” However, Royston also stated that he doesn’t believe a statement will be made: 

The claims specifically stem from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021. It was during that conversation that they claimed members of the family had questions about what Archie’s skin color might be ahead of his birth. At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t name anyone specifically. Shortly after, the royal family responded with a statement, saying it was “saddened” by the claims and specifically called the race assertion “concerning.” 

It’s been rumored that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have had a somewhat up and down relationship over the years. That drama reportedly predates Markle and her husband’s decision to step back as senior members of the family. One of the most infamous stories is one involving Middleton supposedly being upset over her daughter, Charlotte’s, dress supposedly not fitting at Markle’s wedding. (A royal tailor has since weighed in on that story and claims there was no such tension at the event.)

All the while, Prince Harry is allegedly still estranged from his father, King Charles, and brother Prince William. Insiders have, however, more recently claimed that a reconciliation of sorts isn’t completely off the table. Per sources, Harry wants to call a “truce,” because his decision to leave England supposedly hasn’t worked out as planned. This information should, of course, be taken with a massive grain of salt. 

The denizens of the United Kingdom will just have to wait and see whether the King as well as the Princess decide to address the racism allegation. If or until that happens, the rumor might continue to make the rounds.

Due to a Dutch publishing snafu, the names of the alleged racist comment makers in the Royal Family broke big. Earlier this week, there was talk about how Omid Scobie’s book Endgame referenced two people Meghan Markle allegedly named in a letter to King Charles about people who were reportedly making comments about the color of her and Prince Harry’s son’s skin color. Now, due to this translation mistake, there are names attached to these comments.

Obviously, the names are not confirmed, and in the other translations of the book, the people Meghan Markle was allegedly referring to are not specified. They are simply named as members of the Royal Household. This Dutch version of the book names King Charles and Kate Middleton as the two who made the comments the Duchess of Sussex spoke about during her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. When the news broke, it spread like wildfire and quickly went viral.

According to the Dutch translator of the book, the manuscript she was given named the two high-profile royals. Saskia Peeters told The Daily Mail that she didn’t add the names herself, saying:

Based on this comment, the publication said this suggests that the Dutch publisher was sent a draft of Endgame that wasn’t the final one. 

Also, when Scobie was promoting the book early on, he made a point of saying that he did not name the two royals who made the alleged comments about Prince Harry and Markle’s son Archie, per The Guardian. 

The last week has been a wild one for Omid Scobie as claims from his book about these letters and his opinion on the rumors that Prince William had an affair have gone viral. Now, The Guardian has asked him about this Dutch publishing problem, and he said:

When the author appeared on Newsnight he said there was a “full investigation” in the works about this massive issue with the Dutch translation of his book. He made it very clear in the interview as well that he “didn’t have names in it.” Continuing to speak about the issue, the writer told Newsnight:

Back when the initial Oprah interview came out, Prince William responded to the accusations of racism. He denied them, saying “We are very much not a racist family.” At the moment, the palace has not released a statement about Endgame and this Dutch translation. 

Much like when the accusations in Prince Harry’s Spare went viral earlier this year, this has caused quite a stir, and many are waiting to see if the Royal Family comments. As this situation develops, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. 

In the bombshell book Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival author Omid Scobie wrote about the alleged affair between Prince William and Kate Middleton's former best friend Rose Hanbury and all the rumors that surrounded it. Now, the author has opened up about the reported relationship from all those years ago, and he explained why he thinks this rumor “will never go away even though there’s no truth to suggest” that it’s valid.

Omid Scobie, who is a royal expert and the author of Endgame, addressed these massive rumors about Prince William and how they have spread in his new book. While chatting with ET, he explained that there’s absolutely no evidence to back these allegations up, however, there’s a reason why they’re still floating around. He said:

Back in April of 2019 rumors about the Prince of Wales and Hanbury started to float around when a tabloid reported them. The article noted that these allegations also came up after Kate Middleton was seen out with her husband seemingly giving him the cold shoulder. Then, Rose Hanbury was at King Charles’ coronation, and while Prince Harry’s attendance (and swift exit) was the talk of the town during the event, apparently her presence was also spoken about, and it sort of reignited the rumor. 

The article noted that this seemed like a sensitive subject to Scobie as he explained how he wrote about this rumor regarding Prince William and Rose Hanbury in his book. Explaining how these allegations were incorporated into Endgame, the royal expert said:

He went on to note that the palace hasn’t said anything about the matter, and he found that “interesting to analyze.” Scobie explained that the “worst case scenarios” of this rumor is that it would have a negative impact on Prince William’s reputation. Continuing to explain his opinion on the issue and how the allegation has persisted over the years, he said:

Scobie’s thoughts on the alleged affair between Prince William and Rose Hanbury comes after his book made headlines last week for describing a letter where Meghan Markle reportedly named two royals who made racist comments about her family. The revelation of these comments became a mainstream conversation in 2021 when Prince Harry and Markle spoke to Oprah Winfrey about it during their major interview. 

Much like how the revelations and allegations made in Prince Harry's Spare had a seemingly negative impact on Prince William and Kate Middleton, this reignited rumor could do the same, as Scobie suggested. However, he also made it clear that he does not believe that it is anything more than a rumor. 

Following the release of Spare Prince William allegedly had strong feelings about it, so it will be interesting to see if we learn about his thoughts on this latest book about the royals. If we do, or if the palace says anything about the rumor, we'll be sure to keep you posted.

With the constant attention from both the press and the public, famous people, especially those of the royal capacity, have to go to great lengths if they don’t want to be noticed in public. For Prince William and the Royal Family finding some sense of anonymity has to be difficult. However, it seems like the Prince of Wales found one way to avoid that attention during school by using a fake name that’s totally average. And let me tell you, I’m very here for the name he reportedly chose. 

According to the Mirror, the media had agreed that the prince should be able to study without being swarmed by the press. While attending the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, he met his now-wife Kate Middleton and got a Master of Arts degree in geography. While he didn’t have the same level of attention he's had throughout his life, there was still a lot of interest, which is why he reportedly decided to go by a different name: Steve.

While William is a pretty average name, there’s a regal quality to it, and it has a rich royal history. However, Steve is a name that you don’t hear that often in the world of royals, and I’d think if they had a name like this they’d go by Steven, not Steve. So, I guess I get why the Prince of Wales decided to go with a very common name that most people wouldn’t bat an eye at. 

Officially, Prince William enrolled at St. Andrews as William Wales according to the article. However, there are many who reportedly believe that his friends and classmates would call him by a different name to ward off attention. The story also posits that there’s a chance Middleton also called him Steve since they were good friends and lived in the same building. 

I don’t know how well the name Steve worked for him, but it is a fantastic average choice of a name, and if I were a student at St. Andrews, I honestly probably wouldn’t have known he was a royal.

While the disguise might have worked during his time at university, when graduation rolled around if folks didn’t know he was Prince William they found out because Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, King Charles and Queen Camilla all showed up. 

Now, Prince William has been back in the limelight for almost 20 years with his wife and three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis (who has already cemented himself as an internet meme king). As these three kids grow up I’m curious to see if they take up average aliases like their father did if they attend university. I’m thinking they could pick something along the lines of James, Emma and Michael, which in my humble opinion are names that are just as magnificently general as Steve. 

Something else I’m now curious about is if Prince William's reported alias will be incorporated into Season 6 of The Crown. We’ve gotten our first look at William and Kate in the Netflix series, and we know that part of the season shows them during their time at university, so now the question is will we be seeing William or “Steve” attending classes?

Whether you’re a 5-year-old or an adult I imagine sitting through a ceremony that is hours long while also dealing with heaps of pomp and circumstance is exhausting, and at times boring. Well, as many tuned in for King Charles’ coronation, they took notice of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest son Prince Louis who looked incredibly bored during his grandfather's big day. As the event continued the internet fell in love with the youngsters' priceless reactions, and they posted about how they are hilariously here for them.

During King Charles’ coronation, Prince Louis was seen with his sister Princess Charlotte, and viewers tuning into the ceremony on the 2023 TV schedule couldn’t help but notice the little royal let out a massive yawn while his grandfather was in the midst of his big moment. Take a look:

It shouldn't be all that surprising that the moment went viral. @MatthewRimmer took to Twitter to post about this funny instance, posting:

In the little prince’s defense, he’s five, and I feel like sitting through a ceremony as long and formal as the coronation had to be difficult. Not long after Louis was seen yawning, he left the ceremony a bit early, because, as royal reporter Omid Scobie speculated for ET, the prince was “restless” at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year, and you know, again, he’s 5, sitting still is hard. 

Prince Louis returned later in the ceremony, sitting next to his sister once again, and one viewer made the hilarious comment that the two siblings, kind of resembled David and Alexis from the episode of Schitt’s Creek where David gets married. @RohitaKadambi tweeted about the seemingly bored siblings, posting: 

Admittedly, I cackled when I saw this post, partly because of Charlotte's white dress, but also because I could totally see the two young siblings having some sort of conversation that’s completely unrelated to the ceremony. The interactions between Charlotte and Louis seemed to be a real highlight for many, as they also took notice of how they were acting on the balcony after the coronation. @ChristinsQueens had a hilarious reaction to Louis' little, seemingly bored, wave, posting: 

Prince Louis continued to steal the show, as ITV News caught a video of him acting silly on the balcony, check it out:

I don’t know what was going on in this kid's head, but he seemed to be thoroughly entertained by his own thoughts as he tried to fend off boredom. Others also loved this moment, and Louis’ blank-faced, two-handed wave from the balcony, as @LoulaQ tweeted:

Others were utterly charmed by the 5-year-old's irresistibly adorable actions, which may have likely stemmed from him being bored out of his mind. @RoyallyBelle_ captured at least what I was thinking about all these funny moments, as they posted:

I agree, I also hope we get more A+ content from the youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales, because for all of us, his reactions make these ceremonies much more entertaining.

While all eyes were on the king and his grandson today, the conversation before the ceremony centered around King Charles’ youngest son Prince Harry’s attendance. This included speculation about if he’d be “on the sidelines” of the ceremony, and how much time the Duke of Sussex would spend with his father post-coronation. However, on the day of the event, these conversations were not at the top of mind as many were having a blast watching Prince William’s youngest son as he stole the show with his yawns, bored looks, and adorable wave.  

Season 6 of The Crown is expected to make its way onto the 2023 TV schedule, and with the news that the final installment of the historical drama would be coming out this year, Netflix also dropped the first photos of the actors playing Prince William and Kate Middleton. The actors, Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy, look a lot like William and Kate, respectively, in a lot of ways, and following these pictures, and now, the internet seems to actually on board. 

As The Crown and Netflix posted the first images of Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy, fans of the show took to the comments and shared all their thoughts on the actors who will be taking on the royal roles. Many seem to really be on board with the casting choices, specifically for the actor playing the Duke of Cambridge. Some wrote posts along the lines of this funny comment with over 1,000 likes about the prince on the Instagram announcement: 

He really does look a lot like Prince William, especially if you look back at photos of the royal family member from the early ‘00s.  

Another fan couldn’t get over the resemblance of the two actors compared to the real people they’re playing, and posted comments like: 

For real, the casting director deserves so much credit for this show. Since day one, The Crown cast has been praised as it always hires prestigious as well as up-in-coming actors who really capture the members of the royal family. Along with the stars resembling their characters in various ways, they also have played them well as many of the actors on the show have won major awards for their performances.

Over on Twitter, more fans commented about these first-look photos, and how much the two actors look like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. For example, one tweeted:

Overall, fans seem to really be on board with these first-look photos, and they are getting excited for the return of one of Netflix’s best shows. While there is currently no release date for The Crown’s final season, we do know that this installment will start to cover some of the royal family’s more modern history, and will likely come out later in 2023. Megan Markle Said In The Past She 'Didn't Know Much' About The Royal Family Before Meeting Prince Harry

When Meghan Markle first married Prince Harry, the two acted as Senior Royals in the family, even taking a few notable trips on royal duties in countries like Botswana and Fiji. They’ve seen stepped down from those roles and moved to America, where Prince Harry took back his narrative and wrote Spare and he and his wife have pursued other projects, like a controversial Netflix docuseries and podcast. 

They’ve spoken in the past about leaving their roles following incessant and negative media coverage and issues such as The Firm leaking stories, not to mention tension within the family itself. Markle has repeatedly said she did not know what she was getting into when she married Prince Harry, citing the fact she is an American as a reason she didn't really "know much” about the royal family. in 2017, she told the BBC: 

Separately, in Spare Prince Harry wrote about how refreshing Meghan Markle’s lack of knowledge about the royal family was. In fact, he noted he was pretty sure his soon-to-be bride hadn’t even “Googled” him before they began dating. He wrote that meant “her head wasn’t filled with disinformation” which helped their relationship to move forward. 

So this is a narrative the couple has promoted for a while -- but is it accurate? 

Meghan Markle Actually Wrote About Kate Middleton’s Wedding Before She Met Harry

In a now-deleted blog post from The Tig obtained by The Daily Mail, Meghan Markle actually shared her feelings about princesses in general and how she thought about them from a young age. In a blog post from 2014, she wrote:

She went on in the post to name drop Princess Kate and the “endless conversation” surrounding Kate’s wedding to Prince William, which had occurred at Westminster Abbey several years earlier, in 2011. 

Ultimately, Meghan is writing in general terms about the wedding between Prince William and Kate and she may not have necessarily been familiar with the intricacies of royal life. So when she’s said in the past she didn’t have the “same understanding” of the family she has now, that’s perhaps meant her knowledge grew in leaps and bounds after she married Harry. (We do know, for example, that Markle reportedly underwent self-defense training and made other adjustments to her personal life after marrying.)

Regardless, her blog quotes remain interesting, as they do at the very least show that she had some awareness of the royal family across the pond a couple of years before she and Prince Harry quietly started dating in 2016. Whether or not she did some Googling on her own is still a question.

Anytime a celebrity announces they’re releasing a tell-all memoir, readers are going to expect a little bit of mud-slinging, and seemingly few people had more potential to do so than Prince Harry, who stepped away from his royal duties in 2021 with wife Meghan Markle. He didn’t disappoint either, with Spare spilling the royal tea with plenty of stories about his father, brother, stepmother and even his penis. A week after the memoir’s release, the big revelations have equaled millions of book sales for the Duke of Sussex, but have had a less-than-favorable impact on Harry’s brother and sister-in-law.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were definitely not spared in Spare. In the book, Prince Harry recalled a physical fight he got into with his brother during an argument about Meghan Markle, and he even accused the Prince and Princess of Wales of playing a part in his decision to wear a Nazi costume to a 2005 party. Those allegations — and many others — have translated into 3.2 million sales worldwide of Spare in the memoir’s first week, according to the Associated Press, putting it on track to be one of the bestselling memoirs of all time.

The sales may come at a cost, though, and not just for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The Telegraph reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s popularity ratings have plummeted amid the book’s revelations, with William’s ratings dropping 8 percentage points to 61% and Kate falling 7 points to 60%. Despite the decline, the Prince and Princess of Wales remain the most popular members of the Royal Family. Prince Harry, meanwhile, also dropped 7 points, with his favorability now standing at 23%.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been controversial figures since deciding to leave the Royal Family and move to the United States. The couple started speaking out about their decision almost immediately, doing a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. Late last year, they released the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which received brutal reviews from viewers, with Markle’s half-sister calling it a “series of lies.”

However, despite the public’s opinion of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the sales of Spare prove that people were, if not supportive, at least interested in what Prince Harry had to say. The book sold 400,000 copies in all formats in the U.K. on the first day alone, and 1.6 million in the United States in its first week — sales that the AP reports are comparable to President Barack Obama’s “A Promised Land” and former first lady Michelle Obama’s “Becoming.”

As well as being released in multiple formats across all English-language markets, the tell-all has also been translated into 15 other languages — many of whose titles are arguably harsher than Spare. The English title, Spare, is reportedly a reference to a hurtful comment made by now-King Charles III on the day of Prince Harry’s birth, when he remarked that Princess Diana had given him “an heir and a spare.”

With the release of Spare, Prince Harry has been open and honest about his place within the Royal Family. His book’s title alone gives you a lot of insight into his feelings about how his family perceives him. It alludes to a joke made by the now-King Charles about how Prince William and Harry and “the heir and a spare,” and looking at the translated titles of Spare are just as brutal. Now that both princes are fathers, Harry explained that he “worries” about Prince William’s kids being treated the same way he was, as the spare, however, his brother said that is not his “responsibility.” 

While speaking with The Telegraph the Duke of Sussex talked about his relationship with his brother and his kids. Prince Harry explained that he is “someone who likes to fix things,” and he worries that Prince William’s kids will end up as “spares.” However, Prince William “made it very clear” his brother isn’t responsible for them. Although, Harry does not want his niece and nephews to be treated how he was:

It’s apparent that Prince Harry has been seriously hurt by the way he’s been treated by his family and the press. Based on this quote, while his brother noted it’s not his responsibility, he wants to make sure Prince George and Prince Louis as well as Princess Charlotte aren't treated as a spare. 

The Duke of Sussex has been very open about how he’s been treated by the Royal Family in recent months. Some critics have said Spare reveals a lot, maybe too much, about Prince Harry’s past. Among Spare’s revelations and accusations, the prince recalled the story behind the dress drama on his wedding day between Meghan and Kate, he also said Kate and William were involved in the decision he made to wear a Nazi costume to a party. 

Along with all these stories, revelations and worry from Prince Harry, he’s also spoken about if he would be willing to reconcile with Prince William and King Charles. The Duke of Sussex explained that he would like to have his brother back in his life, however, the heir to the throne has “shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile.” 

We’ve learned a lot about Prince Harry through his book, and his docuseries Harry & Meghan, which can be watched with a Netflix subscription. Now, with this new information, we’ve gotten some insight into how he feels about his niece and nephews and their future in the Royal Family. 

Following the release of Harry & Meghan on Netflix and Prince Harry’s book Spare, lots of older stories about the royal couple and their turbulent relationship with the Royal Family have resurfaced. This includes the infamous story about Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton both being mad and reportedly crying over Princess Charlotte’s dress not fitting right before Meghan and Harry’s wedding. Now, after Spare, which has many other brutal translated titles, made waves around the world, the tailor who fixed the dresses is speaking up about what happened that day.

While the dress ended up being tailored and fixed, the text exchange that ensued beforehand left both women mad. Now, the tailor who altered the dress to fit the young princess and the other bridesmaids opened up about the situation, and what had gone on from his perspective. 

The Royal Tailor Opens Up About What Happened On Harry And Meghan’s Wedding Day

Ajay Mirpuri is a luxury suit and dressmaker who tailored the dresses for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. The infamous bridesmaid dress issue reportedly led both Markle and Kate Middleton to tears, and this tailor was tasked with fixing multiple bridesmaids' dresses that weren't properly fitted. 

According to The Daily Mail, Mirpuri said he didn’t see what went down between Kate and Meghan. However, he did explain that he and three others on staff worked at Windsor Castle and Kensington Palace during the four days leading up to the wedding after finding out the bridesmaids’ dresses didn't properly fit. He went on to explain that all six dresses needed to be fixed, and he did that. 

Mirpuri continued, recalling how much time had to go into fixing the dresses:

Mirpuri explained that he wasn't sure why the Givenchy dresses didn’t fit the women. However, the story said it was likely the women’s measurements were just sent, and repeated fittings didn’t happen. 

While all this happened years ago, this is the first time the tailor spoke about what happened, he also explained that if the Spare hadn’t come out: 

He also noted that he was not necessarily “upset” by all the drama surrounding the dresses. However, he did think people should have focused on the fact that the bridesmaids “looked fabulous.”

What Prince Harry Wrote About The Dress Debacle

While there were many takeaways from Harry & Meghan, Prince Harry’s memoir Spare is full of even more revelations and accusations, and as the critics wrote, Spare is loaded with unexpected details. According to the article, the book talks about this “row” over the dress too. 

Per the article, Prince Harry wrote that in May of 2018 before the wedding, Kate texted Meghan about her daughter’s bridesmaid dress not fitting. According to Harry, Meghan replied saying a tailor had been “waiting all day” to make alterations. 

The prince then explained that he found Meghan “on the floor sobbing” over the exchange with her soon-to-be sister-in-law, while initial reports had said Kate had been the one left in tears. 

What Meghan Markle Told Oprah About The Alleged Wedding Day Row

As Prince Harry wrote that Meghan was the one left in tears, a few years ago Meghan also said the same thing during the royal couple’s interview with Oprah. During the interview, the Duchess of Sussex explained that this moment was a “turning point” in her relationship with Kate. She also said what was reported was not the story, and that the “reverse happened,” because for a while the claim was Meghan made Kate cry. 

She explained to the talk show host that Kate apologized for what happened. Then said what was truly shocking came months after the wedding when it was reported that Kate was left in tears because of what Meghan said. 

It seems after all these years and all this drama the tailor is simply relieved the dresses looked beautiful on the day of the wedding. Clearly, this is an experience that the royal couple is not dropping, as it was brought up in the Oprah interview and in Prince Harry’s latest book. It will be interesting to see if anyone else involved with tailoring the dresses comes forward with their thoughts on the stressful matter.

Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, made its way into the hands of the press ahead of its release later this month, and the book apparently includes a slew of shocking allegations from the Duke of Sussex. They includes nasty jokes that his family purportedly made about him and a purported physical fight between himself and his brother, Prince William. Now, it would seem Harry also alleges that his father, Prince (and now King) Charles, and stepmother Camilla wanted to literally change Catherine’s name after she married William.

According to his book (via The Daily Mail), King Charles and Camilla wanted to change Catherine’s name so that the first letter would be a "K." They allegedly believed the royal family had too many members that have names that started with a "C" and thought the name change would make it easier. When making their point, they apparently said that it would especially difficult when it came to their “cyphers” (which are their personal Royal Family monograms), as Charles, Camilla, and Catherine would be using the same letter at the time. 

It should be stressed that all of this should be taken with a grain of salt at this point. However, something that can be said is that the theoretical name change would've been a major ask for the newly installed Duchess. As many books and first-hand accounts have detailed, individuals give a lot of themselves when they become Royals. If Prince Harry's claims are true, then the plan apparently didn't work out, as Catherine has retained the spelling of her name. As of this writing, the Royal Family has not formally addressed the claim.

The relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his brother and sister-in-law has been tense for a while now. Over the past several years, he's stood by the side of his wife, Meghan Markle, since they opted to take a step back from their roles as senior members of the family. One might get the impression that this tell-all memoir isn't calming the situation and might not help Harry's desire for a reconciliation.

From the outside looking in, the Royal Family’s alleged mistreatment of Meghan Markle seems to be a major source of the strife. During the couple's 2021 interview with Oprah, she and her husband alleged that members of the family made race-related comments regarding their (at that time) unborn son, Archie. They also claimed there was a lack of regard for Markle's mental health even while she was carrying the child, which was apparently already difficult due to the attention they've received from the press. 

Needless to say, to say there are a lot of claims floating around, and it's likely that more will reach the surface after Prince Harry's book hits shelves in a few days. And we'll just have to wait and see if Prince William, Catherine and co. choose to confirm or deny any specific points that are brought up.

Prince Harry’s memoir Spare is about to hit the shelves of bookstores soon, and as people wait to read the book themselves, stories told in it are being revealed. This includes Prince Harry reportedly writing about how Prince William and Kate Middleton were involved with the decision for him to wear a controversial Nazi costume to a party back in 2005.

Page Six obtained a segment of the memoir, and explained that the Prince goes into detail about how he decided on his costume for the evening. He said he was choosing between being a pilot or a Nazi for a party that had a Native and Colonial theme. He wrote: 

The quote goes on to explain the reaction the couple had when he tried on the costume, saying they burst into a fit of laughter. 

In 2005, the 20-year-old Duke of Sussex wore the costume, he was photographed by The Sun, and the image was on the front page of the paper the next day. 

Prince Harry has now explained that wearing that costume was a big mistake. In his documentary Harry & Meghan, which has received quite a bit of criticism from viewers, the prince explained that he was “ashamed” of wearing the costume. He also said it was “one of the biggest mistakes” of his life. 

While there were many takeaways from Harry & Meghan, those who watched the docuseries on the 2022 TV schedule with a Netflix subscription also saw Prince Harry explain the costume party situation, and how he tried to learn from it. He said: 

A senior publishing source who has reportedly read Prince Harry’s memoir explained how they felt about him involving his brother and sister-in-law in the story: 

Per the Page Six article, Royal historian Robert Lacey wrote in his own book that this incident was the first sign that the princes were not on the best terms. The historian also wrote (via the article) that this moment was when Harry started to feel “alienated” from the family. This topic of tension between Harry and his family is one that the prince and his wife Meghan Markle have spoken about in both their documentary and in their interview with Oprah. 

According to the article, sources who know what’s in the book say this will be the first time Prince Harry goes into detail about his fallout with Prince William. Reportedly he has also written a lot about his relationships with Kate Middleton and King Charles's wife Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles. 

I’d assume more will be revealed about this story when Prince Harry’s memoir Spare comes out on January 10. The Duke of Sussex will also be doing his first interview of the year on CBS’s 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper at 7:30 ET on Sunday, January 8, where he will be talking more about his book. 

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has spent a lot of her time as part of the Royal family attending to engagements with her husband Prince William. While she’s shown her own grace and fashion sense on the world stage, the Duchess of Cambridge has also paid homage to Princess Diana over the years. This was true once more during her recent trip to the U.S. with husband Prince William, in which she showed off a choker her husband’s mother had worn.

Prince William and Kate were in the States, specifically Boston, this week. The two attended a slew of events on their Boston tour, including meeting up with Mayor Wu, attending a Celtics game and visiting Harvard University.  Among these events was the Earthshot Prize Awards, in which Princess Kate wore a green dress (she’d rented, per Page Six) and a green choker that had been loaned to Diana by Queen Elizabeth II. 

The look was a reminder of a green choker on green dress look Princess Diana had herself worn with the notable piece of jewelry. Although, it’s perhaps not as notable as the time the late Princess wore the green sparkler as a headband rather than a choker. 

As for the Solace London look Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore, the exact silhouette may be elusive, but the green color is a popular one for the brand. Contemporary (and slightly more approachable) looks in the color can be found at places like Revolve and at Net-a-Porter, which does still offer an off-the-shoulder glam dress.) I particularly like this one in the vivid “bright green” shade.

Or you can do as Kate does and rent. 

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time the Duchess of Cambridge has paid tribute to Princess Diana. She also tends to wear the sapphire engagement ring that used to belong to Diana and has worn other infamous jewelry in the past. In addition, the couple's child Charlotte also has Diana in her name: Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The young princess was also christened in the same church in Sandringham her grandmother was, St Mary Magdalene Church.

Prince William has reflected on the past about how much Princess Diana has missed over the years, but he and the family do a good job of reflecting back to her and remembering her over time, including on this latest trip. 

Interestingly, Prince William and his wife's big adventure has come at a time when the spotlight is also being shone on his younger brother Prince Harry in the U.S. For months as part of their Netflix deal Harry and Meghan had allegedly been working on a documentary from their own mouths. There had been some drama attached to the Netflix docuseries before the Harry & Meghan trailer's release, but it's coming soon.  

Between that and the recent release of The Crown Season 5 there's been plenty on the Royal Family to come out way in recent weeks, but this Princess Diana tribute certainly, well, takes the crown...

It’s not every day that a little girl who wants to grow up to be a princess gets to meet an actual princess. When little Callie Rose was at an event where Kate Middleton and Prince William were in attendance, the little girl interrupted the Prince of Wales in a heartwarming way. 

This all happened while the Prince and Princess were in Scarborough on November 3 to talk about the cost of living crisis, and launch funding that will support children’s mental health with a program led by the Royal Foundation, People reported. Greatest Hits Radio Yorkshire Coast got an adorable video of the interruption. It’s so cute, check it out: 

Clearly, the couple was not phased by the little distraction in their speech. The Prince welcomed Callie Rose. Then she walked toward another person, he chuckled and waved at the little girl as he continued talking about the importance of the work the community was doing. 

The two royals also had a one-on-one interaction with Callie Rose at the event. She looked overjoyed to be meeting them, and she had some gifts for the couple as well. That moment was also captured by the radio channel as well, check it out: 

In the video, Middleton kneels down to chat with Callie Rose. The little girl is holding a sign and flowers, and the Princess of Whales looks overjoyed to be speaking with her. Prince William compliments her “gorgeous sparkly dress,” and Middleton thanks her for the beautiful flowers. 

The Princess then asked Callie Rose which flower is her favorite, and the three had a brief conversation about the various flowers in the bouquet. Clearly, this little girl's day had been made, and the royal couple seemed to appreciate the interaction as well. 

Middleton and Prince William, who are also parents of three young kids, also spent time with other children throughout the day, visiting various charities and a nursery. They also spent time outside interacting with the general public, posing for photos, and chatting with those who came out to see them. Based on this photo it looks like Middleton chatted with a few more little ones who came out to meet the princess. 

The couple has had many fun interactions with the public, celebrities and their families throughout the year. Adding this one to the list makes me happy because that little girl’s life seemed to be made by meeting the princess and prince. 

It’s not just this little girl who gets awestruck when meeting the royals though. Rami Malek once told a story about sitting behind them at the No Time To Die premiere, saying the experience was “rad.” Along with Malek, Tom Felton met the royal couple over Christmas, thanking them for inviting him and his mum to the event. 

Along with fun interactions with some fabulous actors, the royals have also told fun stories about the family. For example, last year Middleton was amused by the Queen’s insistence on cutting a cake with a sword. 

While the Prince and Princess of Whales are traveling around, helping fundraise, and meeting little princesses, the fictionalized version of their family is about to return to Netflix and the fall TV schedule. As a leading man in Hollywood for the last several decades, Tom Cruise is pretty much used to being in the driver’s – or should we say pilot’s – seat. He famously does his own film stunts, which include the stunts for his reprisal role in the recently released Top Gun: Maverick. Recently, there’s been talk that the actor may have slightly overstepped the mark when it came to royal family member Kate Middleton at the sequel’s London premiere. However, was it as big a deal as some were making it out to be?

Simply put, the Top Gun: Maverick premiere on May 19 was a long-awaited ordeal. Not only has it obviously been many, many years since the original 1986 film came out, but there were many delays for the new iteration’s release due to COVID. Finally, though, it emerged to see the light of day, and it was a truly royal affair. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the screening and were, basically, dripping elegance. Nevertheless, their glam attire wasn’t what caught spectator’s attention online – it was Tom Cruise helping Kate Middleton up some stairs, as you can see below.

Now, under normal circumstances, helping a lady up the stairs in America might be seen as a very gentlemanly gesture. Unfortunately, since this is the British royal family we’re talking about, Tom Cruise’s gesture was questioned by a few online as a potential faux pas. In other words, you can’t possibly just touch a royal hand, even if you are the star of the movie night event.

All in all, the rules of etiquette on this point aren’t totally clear. Queen Elizabeth supposedly has to offer her hand herself in order for anyone to touch her. But that’s the Queen. While plenty of people noted the alleged gaffe online, according to Yahoo UK’s royal executive editor, Omar Scobie, it’s a little different for other royal family members. He said,

He continued that a lot of the ideas concerning royal protocol are actually just misconceptions created by the public. Apparently, it would’ve been a “far worse” blunder for the wife of the second in line to the British throne to fall down the same stairs. So really, Maverick preemptively saves the day once again, am I right?

Regardless, the moment itself was relatively harmless. Tom Cruise only touched Kate Middleton’s hand for a few brief seconds. Immediately after which, the two were seen going up even more stairs and the Duchess had already discreetly moved her clutch to the other hand. No harm, no foul.

Still, the supposed Kate Middleton mishap wasn’t the only eyebrow-raising moment during the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in merry-old-London. Following rumors they had been dating while making the film, Tom Cruise’s co-star Hayley Atwell showed up with someone else on her arm: her mom. And much like the royal etiquette incident, Atwell’s situation came to light and passed through the interwebs quickly, as well. 

In true Pete Mitchell-style, Tom Cruise hasn’t let the chatter phase him in the slightest. Just the night before all this, Top Gun: Maverick had a showing at the Cannes Film Festival, which saw the 59-year-old in fact showered with a standing ovation for his turn in the film, where his character now acts as a trainer of the next generation of Top Gun graduates. Cruise also got awarded an honorary Palme d’Or that same night for his impressive oeuvre.

The sequel is over three decades in the making, so there’s naturally a lot of hype surrounding it. And Tom Cruise has throwback pics for days to celebrate its release on the 2022 movie schedule. Tom Felton’s Instagram account has become one of the best places for celebrity sightings these days. When he’s not sharing fun reunion moments with his Harry Potter castmates, he’s giving us a glimpse of the other high-profile people he’s rubbed elbows with. Most recently, that’s included none other than members of the British Royal Family – more specifically William and Kate, who he joined up with for a good cause. 

In the Wizarding World franchise, Tom Felton played Draco Malfoy, the young Slytherin with friends in high places. While he’s all grown up now, and seems to be much less villainous off screen, one thing he has in common with his cinematic counterpart is a penchant for picking up famous friends. Just take a look at one of his most recent Instagram posts: 

It’s not every day that someone gets a chance to engage the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in a conversation, especially not right in the heart of the infamous Westminster Abbey. Tom Felton doesn’t really live an “every day” kind of life, though, so it makes sense that he’d have such an opportunity. As he explains in the accompanying caption, the cause for the occasion was the upcoming ITV special, Royal Carols: Together at Christmas. 

According to the channel’s description of the program, it will combine secular and multi-faith moments and personal reflections from numerous guests, including first responders, teachers, and members of the armed services. The goal of the program is to help the UK come together and remember the importance of mental health and human connection after a year and a half of trials, tribulations and COVID-19-related lockdowns. 

While it’s not clear exactly what Tom Felton’s participation will be in the special, fans know he’s already done a lot to provide comfort to fans during this unprecedented time. He’s supplied fans with a steady stream of entertaining content, including videos of himself playing guitar, memes, and nostalgia-filled throwback photos from his Wizarding World days. In lieu of an in-person reunion last year, he hosted a virtual Holiday Home Party, including special guests like his on-screen dad, Jason Isaacs. 

Now that the world is slowly resuming more pre-pandemic activities, the actor seems to be busier than ever, while still keeping fans in mind. In addition to filming the ITV special with William and Kate, he also recently teamed up with other Harry Potter alums like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint to film an upcoming reunion special. In celebration of the film series’ 20th anniversary, the HP crew headed back to another iconic, albeit fictional, UK landmark – Hogwarts. 

Fans can see Tom Felton alongside his new royal friends and other special guests on Christmas Eve. Meanwhile, the star-studded Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts premieres on HBO Max on January 1, 2022. 

Queen Elizabeth II has been quite busy as of late. While she unfortunately lost husband Prince Philip back in April, the Queen has since been proactive. This has been especially true when it comes to foreign relations, as she and other senior working royals have welcomed a number of major figures to the UK. This most recent event was the Group of Seven (or G-7), which was attended by world leaders like US President Joe Biden. Of course, a queen’s work is never done and, during another event that same weekend, she cut a cake… with a sword. Needless to say, it’s quite a sight, and even Kate Middleton seemed to be amused.

During the G-7 Summit weekend, Queen Elizabeth II, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Kate Middleton attended a party for the Big Lunch initiative. The event appeared to include plenty of food including a delicious-looking cake. Queen Elizabeth did the honors of cutting the cake but chose to do so not with a knife but with a sword, which she joked about with both Kate and Camilla. It may sound unbelievable, but Omid Scobie, Royal Editor for Harper’s Bazaar, shared a video of the moment on Twitter. Queen Elizabeth II likely made onlookers a bit nervous while she was attempting to cut through the cake with that blade. But ultimately, she was able to accomplish the feat, with a little help from the Duchess of Cornwall. You have to appreciate the Queen’s vivacious approach to cutting cake, though. Not only that, she also gave that A+ reply after being told that a knife was actually available to her.

The Big Lunch initiative, which will now forever be synonymous with the Queen and a cake, was founded in 2009. The goal of this initiative is to encourage others to form new connections (and celebrate their existing ones) by meal or party of some sort.

One thing that can definitely be said is that the Queen certainly knows how to make an impression wherever she goes. And that could be either at a charity event or during a visit to the set of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Of course, her comments on choosing to use a sword to cut a cake also show that the Queen still has that sincere (if not blunt) honesty. This has been seen on a number of occasions, such as when she once advised Prince William on forming the guest list for his wedding to Kate Middleton. She also doesn’t mind calling out a historical inaccuracy in a television program or two.

To put it simply, Queen Elizabeth II is just going to continue to do her, and much of the world will continue to take notice. And even though it more than likely won’t happen, a part of me is hoping this cake-cutting situation makes its way to The Crown at some point.

Just a hop, skip and a couple of days after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dropped numerous bombshells on Oprah Winfrey over at CBS, the Royal Family has made an official statement, thus breaking the silence on some of the claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made. Specifically, in terms of comments Meghan Markle made alleging a member of the Royal Family had voiced concerns about the color of their child Archie’s skin before his birth.

The bombshell statement spread like wildfire as the interview was airing and after it aired Sunday evening on CBS. The next day, Oprah Winfrey herself cleared up some of the claims, stating on a Good Morning America appearance that it was neither Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip who had made the claims. Here is the Royal Family’s official statement on the matter:

The statement, made on “Royal communications” stationary to boot, was featured by Harper’s Bazaar Royal Editor Omid Scoobie on social and on various other outlets online. It’s the first official statement the palace has made about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they officially left their Royal Duties back in February. Just a few weeks ago, it was "officially" confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would no longer be "returning as working members of the Royal Family." At the time, the press release mentioned "all" were "saddened by the decision."

This leads to another point of contention in which the official release by the Royal Family and the stories from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry don't quite match up. In the interview, both Harry and Meghan said that they wanted to continue to be a part of the Royal Family with its duties, just no longer as "Senior" members, which they say would have given them more freedom and flexibility. At the time, they had already moved from the U.K., first to Canada and then to the Los Angeles area.

From their points of view, they weren't given the option to only partially step down, which led to other issues and inconsiderations, like losing security for Archie and Meghan, but also Prince Harry, who said he was surprised given he didn't choose his role in society but inherited it. This was only one of many stories that Markle in particular told about her life at the palace, and the biggest had to do with race. Prince Harry confirmed the aforementioned Archie story, noting a role family member had question how dark their first child might be, and that the conversation happened right at the beginning of his marriage, noting,

Both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex declined to mention who in the Royal Family had voiced any concerns over how Archie might look when he was born.

Meanwhile, the CBS interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was the first foray the formerly Royal Family members took into the world of entertainment. They have also kicked off their own production company and will be producing content for Netflix moving forward. Though Prince Harry says he still has a legacy from his famous mother Princess Diana, he and Markle will be supporting themselves through their ventures moving forward, though it's worth noting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already put the kibosh on plans to trademark Sussex Royal after leaving their Senior duties, with rumors intimating the Queen may have had thoughts on that matter.

After weeks of press leading up to the bombshell interview between Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle, the actress finally sat down with the prominent interviewer and former daytime host to talk about a slew of topics. The turning point came the day she met the Queen. In fact, she and Harry were in the car when he asked her a question she says she never expected to hear.

Prince Harry mentioned later in the interview that his grandmother had been "amazing" throughout and that everyone had been receptive about Meghan Markle early on and it was after the Australian tour that people really saw what she was capable of. But there were other issues lurking that led to them leaving their duties.

Meghan Markle Claims Kate Middleton Made Her Cry Over Flower Girl Dresses… Not The Reverse

You know the stories. Allegedly Meghan Markle made Kate Middleton cry over the flower girl dresses at her famous nuptials to Prince Harry. That story has been running around for a long time, but Meghan Markle denied them during her big TV moment with Oprah Winfrey. Instead, she says that it was Kate who upset her and later apologized, though the bit about the flower girl dresses was true.

She also told Oprah she didn’t want to get into the details because Kate apologized at the time. Markle also stressed for a bit that the issue that was “hard to get over” in regards to “being blamed for something I didn’t do but that happened to me.” She said she wasn’t sharing this “to be disparaging” to Kate, but she wanted people to “understand the truth,” though whether or not Meghan Markle would throw Kate Middleton under the bus was a topic of debate before the big interview.

Meghan Markle Felt Trapped Living With Palace Restrictions, Particularly With Prince Harry Working

Meghan Markle talked about wanting to go lunch to her friends and was told no because the tabloids had reacted poorly to her in recent weeks. She says she gently mentioned she wasn’t going anywhere most days and needed an outlet, but felt as if she was up against something bigger than her. In her own words she told the Institution:

Unfortunately, the loneliness that was building wouldn’t get better and it wouldn’t go away. Prince Harry also admitted he “didn’t have anyone to turn to” during this time and was ashamed of trying to get Meghan Markle help, just because of the way things are and have always been.

Prince Harry Confirmed Awkward Conversations Were Had About His Relationship With Meghan Markle And The Color Of The Skin Of Their Kids

On Monday, Oprah Winfrey said that conversations about Archie’s skin color were not the concern of the Queen or Prince Philip; however, both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said they had actual conversations about what Archie would look like with members of the family. They declined to mention who had that conversation with them ahead of Archie’s birth, with Prince Harry noting there were other issues and conversations that should have been red lights for the couple.

Harry also revealed his dad stopped taking his calls for a time as he and Meghan Markle made plans to move forward outside of their Senior Royal duties. He is now speaking with his father, but there's a lot to unpack there.

Why Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Reportedly Didn’t Take The Newborn Picture

The rumor mill was really hard on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they didn't take the famous newborn photo with little Archie. According to Meghan Markle, however, due to Archie not getting a title, they were never asked. She says it wasn't actually a choice.

Prince Harry did not touch on this particular incident, but he was very clear that he had compassion for his family and what they are and are not allowed to do. He said of his father Prince Charles and his brother Prince William: "They are trapped. They don't get to leave. I have huge compassion for that."

Meghan Markle Was ‘Depressed’ And Ashamed To Tell Prince Harry, Couldn’t Get Help

In one of her most notable confessions, Meghan Markle said she went to HR and asked for help in regards to her mental health. But because she wasn’t a paid employee of the Institution and because the Institution felt her seeking professional help would not look good to the press, “nothing was ever done.” She finally admitted her feelings to Harry, noting,

Markle says she wasn’t sure who to even turn to, but eventually, she spoke to one of Diana’s best friends and that helped her to start to grasp what was happening to her in the Royal Palace. Oprah Winfrey asked her if she could have sought help on her own, to which Meghan Markle replied, ‘I couldn’t just call an Uber to the Palace.”

The Truth About The Event At The Royal Albert Hall She Attended With Prince Harry

Shortly after admitting to Prince Harry that she was depressed, the two went to an event at the Royal Albert Hall she felt she had to attend. Harry asked her not to go, but she didn’t want to be left alone, so they attended and in the dark she says she wept. Later, a friend showed her a picture of herself at the event, looking beautiful and charming, and all she could see was the stress she was carrying.

Later in the interview, Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey she wasn’t trying to be “shocking,” but that this is the “truth” she lived with while still under the grips of the Institution. She wanted to clear up some of the “falsehoods” and felt like it was time to speak out, noting, “There’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

Why Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Moved To The U.S.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry both seemed a little bit overwhelmed by their security being taken away. According to both of them, they proposed part-time work with the Royal Family, even after moving to Canada, but their security was still taken away, with the Institution citing a “status change” as the reason for why.

In March of 2019, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left and moved to Canada, but security was cut off after the move and given a lockdown was coming and the whole world knew where they lived, Prince Harry says they needed to go elsewhere. By March of 2020, Meghan, Harry and Archie decided to relocate to Los Angeles and figure out what they wanted to do next. During this time, Tyler Perry provided security while the two got off their feet with Archwell.

According to the formerly Royal couple, they took Tyler Perry up on the offer because they felt security was paramount and the family was not providing the “support” they needed. Prince Harry also felt that it wasn’t working, comparing what was happening to Meghan to what happened to his mother. He didn't want the conclusion to his story with Meghan Markle to end the same way.

At the end of the day, a lot was learned from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's perspectives, including the fact that they never had a plan after leaving for Canada and then the United States. The Netflix deal and more was spawned only after being cut off financially, though Harry says he still has his legacy from his mother. It will be interesting to see if anyone from the Royal Family speaks out in the coming days. In the meantime, Oprah Winfrey also spoke out this morning on her interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, touching on a few more moments that came up in the special. There’s a lot that has been written about the relationship between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, as well as their princely partners, Prince Harry and Prince William, in the time since Markle came onto the royal scene. A lot of the headlines have focused on Middleton and Markle’s seemingly frosty relationship, and now with a new feelings-driven interview with Oprah Winfrey on the way, will Meghan Markle expose the alleged rift between the two families?

So far, a preview for the upcoming interview, which is set to air on CBS, has seemingly revealed Meghan Markle is feeling “liberated” and ready to speak out about what happened during the time when she lived in the U.K. and ultimately why she and Prince Harry left to start over in the U.S. However, now insiders are saying that Meghan Markle doesn’t take a negative tact, at least when it comes to Kate Middleton.

A new report over at Page Six indicates that while tonight's big Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle sitdown will be filled with all sorts of juicy details, talking smack about her famous sister-in-law will not be one of them. An insider with knowledge of the situation actually says Markle had only “kind words” for Kate Middleton during the sit down.

This is separate from many of the reports that have indicated that there is a rift between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William as well as Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. Reports have called their relationship “frosty,” particularly after Harry and Meghan ultimately decided to leave their Royal duties. That move has allegedly put more on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s plates.

One particularly notable report came in the Finding Freedom biography, which indicated there was an incident between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle both were heading to the same location to go shopping and Middleton allegedly decided to take her own Range Rover, alone, instead of going with Markle. Kate Middleton later sent Markle flowers, but it may have been an instance of too little, too late.

In fact, the term “distant politeness” was used in the book to describe their relationship. Even if Meghan Markle chooses not to expose any issues or rifts between the two couples, that doesn’t necessarily mean the “distant politeness” comparison is inaccurate. It may just mean that the two families are a subject Markle isn’t really interested in touching publicly. It's also worth noting Kate Middleton did speak warmly about Meghan Markle when she was going through her first pregnancy, around the time that feud rumors were first swirling heavily. So, it hasn't been all frostiness all the time.

One subject that sounds like it will be coming up will be Thomas Markle, who spoke repeatedly with the press around the time of his famous daughter’s wedding. A letter Meghan Markle sent to her father in the hopes to heal their rift later became the subject of a lawsuit Markle filed after said letter was published in The Mail on Sunday and online. Markle sued after the outlet printed the letter, a lawsuit she recently won. The judge ordered the outlet to apologize on the front page following the lawsuit loss.

Meghan Markle will potentially touch base on her family, the press, and a slew of other topics, but we'll have to wait and see what she says about Kate Middleton and Prince Harry. The interview with Oprah Winfrey will air on CBS on Sunday, March 7 at 8 p.m. ET. The new show will be a two-hour affair on the Eye Network, running from 8-10 p.m.

In a rather disturbing and unfortunate situation that went down across the Atlantic, a dead body was discovered in the exterior grounds of the London home shared by Prince William and Kate Middleton's family. The body has not yet been properly identified, although the Metropolitan Police did initially misidentify the body, causing a bit of a kerfuffle in the process.

In a melancholic scenario that wouldn't feel so out of place at the start of an Agatha Christie mystery, a woman's body was found and pulled from the picturesque Round Pond in Kensington Gardens on Saturday, August 29. The pond is located directly in front of Kensington Palace, which serves as the home of Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children whenever they are staying in London. However, it does not appear as if either the Duke or Duchess of Cambridge were in the area that day.

According to Sky News, Prince William and Kate Middleton were with their kids in Scotland at Balmoral Castle, keeping socially distanced company with the Queen. While it was also stated that Princess Eugenie and hubby Jack Brooksbank also live on the property, it was unclear if anyone from the Royal Family was present at Kensington Palace the day the body was found. (Meghan Markle and Prince Harry certainly weren't around.)

Though the identity of the female has yet to be determined, authorities at first mistakenly thought the body was the artist Endellion Lycett Green, who is the granddaughter of the beloved former poet laureate Sir John Betjeman. Green had recently gone missing, and officials sought the public's help in trying to track her down. The 51-year-old's family understandably feared for the worst whenever Metropolitan Police contacted them to say they believed the body was Green's. Thankfully for them, that turned out to not be the case.

According to Finding Freedom (via Page Six), it seemed obvious the butt thing would be an ordeal, though news reports at the time only mentioned the concept of "no ring, no bring," and the difficulties of managing a private wedding with royal expectations and security as reasons Meghan Markle was not on the guest list. In this version, the memorable headline made the decision clear.

To understand this, one must go even further back in history to the historic 2011 wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William, which was televised and viewed all around the world. Kate Middleton’s dress and the ceremony at Westminster Abbey were both notable, but the big tabloid story of the day was related to Pippa Middleton. More specifically, the story everyone seemed to latch onto was Pippa Middleton’s butt after she bent over to help keep her sister’s wedding dress from dragging the ground.

These days videos on the Internet are devoted to topics such as “How To Achieve Pippa Middleton Bum” – and those are the nicer videos on the subject. She’s taken it mostly in stride, though she once told Matt Lauer it “was embarrassing because it wasn’t planned.’ It’s also continually been a topic of conversation related to the Middleton sister and when Pippa Middleton was preparing to marry, the butt conversation came 'round again.

It’s important to note that Meghan Markle was not involved with the new book at all and that its authors chose to interview people near the palace and who knew both Harry and Meghan instead. Still, of all the stories in the book, if this one holds true it’s a bit of a bummer, though understandable given even I couldn’t resist a ‘bum’ related joke there.

Instead, it is fact that Meghan Markle skipped the wedding service so the focus could be on Pippa Middleton and James Matthews. She did join Prince Harry at the reception, with the book saying she wore a “decidedly unflashy long black gown.” Meanwhile, while Meghan Markle avoided the “rear” related headlines that night, her pal Jessica Mulroney attended and landed the butt-related headlines instead. So if that was the real reason she passed on the wedding, perhaps it wasn't the worst idea.

Are there harsh feelings being shared between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle inside the Kensington Palace? It's hard to say, but the recent comments from Middleton about Markle's pregnancy suggest that's not the case. When asked about the new addition coming to the royal family, Kate had only kind words to say about Markle and the baby that's soon expected to arrive. Here's what Middleton told the press.

It's now tied with Victoria in that position, as well. Should the upcoming child end up being a boy, however, Albert and Arthur are the top picks. The odds are 12/1 in their respective favor. If you're asking yourself why Mary is the number one choice, there's a pretty simple explanation for that. You see, Mary is the middle name of none other than Queen Elizabeth herself. The child will have a brother in four-year-old Prince George and a sister in two-year-old Princess Charlotte. Whatever the child's name and gender should be, it's likely an exciting time for the forthcoming parents -- though Middleton did somewhat recently admit that motherhood can be "lonely" and "isolated" at times. In addition to the upcoming baby, there is also a Royal Wedding in the midst. Prince Harry is set to marry actress Meghan Markle on May 19. It's worth noting that Middleton is expected to deliver the baby sometime in April, which means the little bundle of joy should (hopefully) be making an appearance at the nuptial proceedings. Considering she'll be less than a month old, however, it'll certainly be understandable if the little one doesn't make it to the event.
