Spoilers for Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice lie ahead.

For me, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice may be the most pleasant surprise of the 2026 movie schedule thus far. BenDavid Grabinski’s time travel romp not only delivers comedy and violent thrills, but also emotional stakes. There are also some fun performances from Vince Vaughn, James Marsden and more. Grabinski’s movie definitely stands on its own but, as suggested by the crazy ending, a sequel could happen. Yet, I’m more interested in a spinoff prequel.

There’s A Wild Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice Spinoff Just Waiting To Happen

While much of Grabinski’s excellent time travel film centers around the titular quartet, there are other characters in the mix. Chief among them are Sosa – the ruthless crime boss Nick and Mike work for – and his adopted son, Jimmy Boy. Sosa and Jimmy, played by Keith David and Jimmy Tatro, respectively, serve as the primary antagonists of the movie, and they also contribute to a solid amount of the more humorous and over-the-top moments.

The powerful Sosa spends most of the film trying to track down Mike, whom he believes squealed on Jimmy Boy and got him arrested years ago. (In reality, Nick frames Mike for that after finding out about his buddy’s affair with his wife, Alice.) Jimmy wants revenge like his father, but for much of the film, he simply seeks to celebrate his release at the all-night parties thrown by his dad. In the end, Sosa is fatally shot by Alice, while JB, who first suffers injuries sustained from jumping through a window, is shot by Future Nick and Mike.

While the characters’ roles are straightforward, they could lead a spinoff. More specifically, I want a prequel set years before the events of the film that shows the circumstances leading up to Jimmy Boy’s arrest. With that, viewers can also actually meet the man responsible for selling out Jimmy – Jackie Napalm, who many in the film (ironically) refer to as “a real one.” Such a story could also allow for other characters like Tony (Arturo Castro), Roid Rage Ryan (Lewis Tan) and even “The Barron” (Dolph Lundgren) to play bigger roles.

Spinoffs, of course, can be very hit or miss, as even some of the most popular movie franchises have spawned lackluster offshoots. In spite of that, there are a few reasons why this particular prequel should be considered.

Why Is A Sosa/Jimmy Boy Spinoff Worth Making?

If BenDavid Grabinski were to be involved, this theoretical spinoff could be solid, considering the filmmaker’s commitment to thrills and ability to craft genuine stakes. What would be most appealing would be the prospect of the Happily director further turning the crime genre on its head using humor and more. I’m not saying this needs to be a parody of gangster films, but a story that takes a few meta swipes at those movies would be great. Such a film also wouldn’t need to utilize any time travel rules.

There’s also the novelty of seeing the great Keith David in a comedic role. Sure, the beloved actor has starred in his share of comedies, but it still feels like he doesn’t take on those roles as often as others. David generates some solid laughs in the role of Sosa and, quite frankly, I’d love to see him do more of that alongside Jimmy Tatro, who’s also been making a name for himself in the comedy sphere.

Admittedly, I’d respect it if Grabinski preferred not to expand upon the world he created in Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice (which has solid reviews). Opting against a spinoff, though, would still seem like a missed opportunity, though. For now, stream the existing movie using a Hulu subscription.

Dan Harmon has confirmed Rick and Morty may never end, and it certainly feels that way with Adult Swim continuing to prepare spinoffs for the acclaimed adult-animation series. After the anime, Keith David's spinoff, called President Curtis, is up next, and we just learned a big update on it from the voice actor.

I'm thrilled to hear any news on the spinoff, which I'd admittedly forgotten about until now. That said, I do have a big concern for this spinoff that I didn't have for the previous Rick and Morty spinoff.

Keith David Confirmed President Curtis Is Coming Out This Year

Much to my surprise, Keith David recently confirmed to ScreenRant that President Curtis is due out on the 2026 TV schedule. While he was cagey about further details, he did confirm the President (who we said should get a spinoff long ago) is still the same as he was in Rick and Morty. That's good to know, because there were times when he seemed just as capable as Rick when it came to solving problems, so it'd be cool to see how he handles various situations solo.

Can A Rick And Morty Spinoff Without The Title Characters Succeed?

While I'm excited to watch President Curtis later this year, I do have one major concern that I can't shake ahead of its arrival. I wonder if this Rick and Morty spinoff will suffer from the same issue that another sci-fi franchise I love, Doctor Who, has. This is to say, no adventure is quite the same without the main characters in the mix, and removing Rick and his questionable antics from the equation could drastically shift the tone of this show.

President Curtis is a rival to Rick Sanchez, and if Rick isn't in this show, I can imagine it'll be an adjustment for audiences to get into this spinoff. Granted, I'm sure the writing staff has already workshopped and come up with a batch of episodes that have the classic Rick and Morty charm, but whether it'll resonate with audiences is an entirely different conversation.

It's also noteworthy that so many of Rick and Morty's best episodes revolve around high-tech science and space travel tied to the multiverse. Should we expect the same types of adventures in President Curtis, or is this going to be a show that takes place on Earth for the most part? The good news is we're not going to have to wait too terribly long on the answers to those questions, because this series' premiere date this year.

I'm excited for the premiere of President Curtis, and would speculate we'll see it sometime around the fall season. Until then, binge old episodes of Rick and Morty with an HBO Max subscription, and hope it'll premiere around the same time.

Voice acting is an art that is both lucrative and underappreciated. Many of our favorite animated characters wouldn’t be possible without iconic voice actors like Mark Hamill, Frank Welker, Grey DeLisle, and EG Daily. However, Black voice artists can be marginalized and unrecognized for their contributions to the art. Of course, there are notable voice actors like Michael Dorn, Keith Silverstein, Earle Hyman, Phil Morris, Beau Billingslea, Jaleel White, and Anika Noni Rose, with multiple credits on their resumes.

So, here are 10 iconic Black voice actors who deserve their flowers.

Cree Summer

A list of iconic Black VO artists would be invalid without animation’s go-to It girl Cree Summer. She has been among the most successful and recognized Black actors for the last four decades. Summer was the most prominent Black female (or just Black in general) voice artist, with multiple animation classics under her belt for years.

Of course, Summer kicked off his VO career as the original voice of Penny on the 1980s animated TV classic Inspector Gadget. Even in her first outing, viewers can recognize her signature raspy voice as a young girl. Working since the early 1980s translates to a resume filled with notable and iconic roles in memorable shows, including Elmyra Duff on Tiny Toon Adventures, Susie Carmichael on Rugrats, Miranda on As Told by Ginger, and Numbuh Five on Codename Kids Next Door.

Her voice work extended to video games as her trademark voice can be heard in classic gaming franchises like Fallout, Star Wars, and Final Fantasy. While generations grew up on her trademark rasp, they may remember Summer as Freddie Brooks from the classic black 1990s sitcom A Different World. The actress still appears in live-action work, her signature raspy voice can be heard in The Patrick Star Show and The Legend of Vox Machina.

Phil LaMarr

Phil LaMarr’s voice work has been a staple over the last four decades. Since starting in the voice acting field, he has been a prominent and dependable Black actor. LaMarr is among animation’s most versatile performers, appearing in multiple animation classics.

LaMarr began his VO career as Woody Daniels on the underrated 1980s animated TV series Mister T. While his voice acting career started in the 1980s, his true breakthrough came in the 19990s as his filmography quickly filled up with memorable roles in iconic shows, including various voices on Family Guy, Hermes Conrad on Futurama, Virgil Hawkins/Static on Static Shock, and the one and only Samurai Jack.

Like most voice actors, he can be heard in video games with versatile VO performances. Viewers may recognize his voice in classic gaming franchises like Metal Gear, Star Wars, and Mortal Kombat. While viewers have enjoyed hearing him, they may remember LaMarr as his sketch comedy work on the Fox series MAD TV. The actor appears in live-action works, but he can be heard in Star Trek: Lower Decks and the upcoming series Among Us.

Kimberly Brooks

Kimberly Brooks may not be a household name, but her work has entertained viewers for years. She has been a reliable and successful Black voice actor in film and TV. Brooks is among animation’s most versatile performers, heard in iconic animated fare.

Brooks started her voice acting career as Mee Mee on the iconic Cartoon Network series Dexter’s Laboratory. Working in the 1990s allowed the VO chameleon to play a role in Millennials and Gen Z’s childhood. She voiced memorable characters in incredible projects, including Jasper on Steven Universe, Princess Allura on Voltron: Legendary Defender, Buena Girl on Mucha Lucha, various roles on South Park, and Luna on the Scooby-Doo movies.

She has even ventured into video games with versatile VO performances. Viewers may recognize her voice in classic gaming franchises like Mass Effect, No More Heroes, and BioShock Infinite. Brooks’ voice is present in projects like The Simpsons and Batman: Caped Crusader.

Kevin Michael Richardson

Many voice actors can’t say they have the same career as Kevin Michael Richardson. He has been one of animation’s most prominent and successful Black voice actors in film and TV. Richardson is known for his trademark deep voice and villainous role.

Brooks started her voice acting career as Goro in the 1995 game-to-screen adaptation Mortal Kombat. His career soon took off as he appeared in classic projects, including Captain Gantu on Lilo and Stitch, various roles on Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons, and Futurama, Monster Girl on Invincible, and The Joker on The Batman. Richardson’s booming voice became an animation staple in the 1990s and 2000s.

He extended his voice work into video games with classic franchises like Star Wars, Fallout, and Skylanders. Brooks’ voice is present in projects like The Simpsons and the preschool series Ariel.

Keith David

Keith David has spent four decades providing his signature deep voice to animated production. He became one of animation’s most prominent and recognizable Black voice actors. David provided an authoritative nature to multiple animated projects.

David made his debut in the 1988 animated TV movie Christmas in Tattertown. After starting his career in the 1980s, he could be heard in iconic roles in memorable projects, including Goliath on the underrated 1990s classic Gargoyles, the Flame King on Adventure Time, Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog, and Spawn in the acclaimed HBO series. His brilliant deep voice stayed a staple across multiple generations of animation lovers.

He even ventured into gaming by providing his deep voice to franchises like Halo, Saints Row, and Mass Effect. Viewers can also hear David in documentaries, commercials, and audiobooks. They might recognize him from live-action work like Platoon, Greenleaf, There’s Something About Mary and American Fiction. David can be heard in high-profile projects like Krapopolis, Hazbin Hotel, and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!

Bumper Robinson

Bumper Robinson has been voicing animated characters for four decades. He became one of animation’s most prominent and recognizable Black voice actors. Since he started as a child VO artist, audiences have seen him flex his versatility in his work.

Robinson began his voice-acting journey on the beloved animated series The Flintstone Kids as underrated genius Philo Quartz. Starting from an early age allowed him to grow into varying roles. His career took off in the 1990s as the VO wunderkind racked up notable roles on iconic projects, including various roles on Static Shock, Dwight Conrad on Futurama, Bumblebee on Transformers, and Ralph Sr on Teenage Euthanasia. His growth allowed him to continue with his VO career.

He fell into video games by voicing characters in Skylanders, Resistance, and Marvel and DC games. Of course, viewers might recognize him from live-action projects like The Jacksons: An American Dream, A Different World, and Living Single. Viewers can hear Robinson in high-profile projects like Harriet the Spy and Batman: Caped Crusader.

Khary Payton

Audiences have heard Khary Payton on their screens for two decades. He became one of animation’s most prominent and recognizable Black voices in his career. His work has garnered acclaim for his versatile performances across multiple genres.

Robinson kicked off his VO career in the 2000 video game Deus Ex. He showed his versatility as he hopped from medium to medium. His career took off in the 2000s as he secured multiple iconic roles in memorable projects, including Cyborg on Teen Titans, various roles on Young Justice, Wasabi on Big Hero 6: The Series, and Black Samson on Invincible.

He continued working in the gaming industry by providing his voice to franchises like Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, The Sims, and Metal Gear. Viewers have heard and seen live-action productions, including General Hospital and The Walking Dead. Viewers can hear Payton on notable projects like Teen Titans Go! and The Loud House.

James Avery

James Avery has lived in audiences’ minds for decades. However, some viewers might not know he spent years voicing some of their favorite animated characters. He became one of animation’s most prominent and recognizable Black voices. Avery gained acclaim for his versatile performances in film and TV.

Voicing wrestler Junkyard Dog in Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling marked Avery’s first VO gig. Soon, he began showing his versatility as a performer, voicing memorable characters from villains to heroes. His career took off in the late 1980s by taking on multiple iconic roles, including Shredder on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Haroud Hazi Bin on Aladdin: The Series. He even voiced Br’er Frog and Bear at Disney World’s Splash Mountain.

He even did voice work in video games like Disney's Animated Storybook: The Lion King and Biker Mice from Mars. Of course, audiences remember the late actor for playing OG Phillip Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Unfortunately, Avery passed away in 2013, leaving a legacy of legendary animated characters.

TC Carson

TC Carson has entertained audiences across different platforms for years. He became one of voiceover’s most recognizable Black voice actors. Carson kept the work flowing due to his versatility and distinctive tone.

Carson began his voice acting career through a cameo on Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child. His distinctive tone allowed him to voice varying characters in childhood classics. As the 1990s rolled on, he began racking up memorable roles, including roles on Life with Louie and Afro Samurai, and Mace Windu on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

He contributed his voice to video game franchises like Kratos in God of War, Star Wars, and BioShock Infinite. Of course, viewers are familiar with Carson’s live-action work, especially as Kyle Barker on the 1990s sitcom Living Single. They can still hear him on projects like LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy and Star Wars games.

Debra Wilson

Debra Wilson has entertained viewers for decades with her versatile skillset. Outside of her comedy work, she has quietly become one of voiceover’s most recognizable Black actors. Wilson’s distinctive and versatile performances had made her VO staple.

Wilson’s first voice-acting gig was on the puppet children’s series The Mr. Potato Head Show, voicing and puppeteering resident diva Queenie. Her versatile voice talent allowed her to move from varying animated projects. While her work started in the 1990s, the 2000s proved fruitful for the versatile performer, playing various roles on Family Guy, Clone High, and Black Dynamite, and Daisy Duck, becoming the first Black woman to voice the legendary character. She even lends her talent to documentaries and commercials.

She was recruited to provide strong vocal performances in the gaming industry like God of War, Call of Duty, and multiple Marvel and DC games. Of course, viewers will recognize Wilson for her signature characters on the Fox sketch comedy MAD TV. Audiences can hear the actress regularly on like Monster High, My Adventures with Superman, and the upcoming series Among Us, which is a reunion with fellow MAD TV alum Phil LaMarr.

The above list is just a sliver of the Black voice actors who’ve made TV, film, and video games. Maybe audiences will finally heap praise and recognition on these outstanding and trailblazing voice talents. As animation grows across various mediums, viewers will hear more Black voice artists on their screens in the coming years.

The 2024 movie and TV schedules have featured notable Black voice actors in popular and acclaimed projects, including Inside Out 2, Kung Fu Panda 4, and The Garfield Movie. The next generation of Black voice talents like Estelle, Zeno Robinson, Anairis Quiñones, and Lee George have continued the legacy by taking on roles across multiple genres. Looks for any award show can vary wildly, but we do typically see ladies in high heels of some sort. Actress Annette Benning did step out in heels, but she chose some of a chunky platform sandal variety that likely added some literal stability to her chic, flowy outfit.

Sure, men’s fashion doesn’t usually lend itself to wild shoewear choices on the red carpet, but that’s OK. Barbie cast member/Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling went with a great pair of shiny black shoes to accent his black (and slightly sparkly) tux and red socks, and they work perfectly.

Danielle Brooks

You’re going to see that black, overall, was a popular shoe color choice for 2024’s award shows, and The Color Purple Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks made a good pick to go with her very glamorous Dolce Gabbana gown. The sandals feature a shapely high heel and pearl accents that kick the look up a couple of notches.

Cynthia Erivo

Not only did Cynthia Erivo and her co-star Ariana Grande decide to represent their Wicked characters via their fashion choices for the Academy Awards, but Erivo took her green Elphaba theme to the hilt with her platform shoes with striated shades of emerald.

Billie Eilish

One cannot deny the importance of comfort when talking shoes, and award winning singer/songwriter Billie Eilish definitely deserves props for choosing a round-toe mary jane style that even allowed her to wear full-on shocks to the Oscars.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh has had no shortage of amazing fashion moments, and it appears that they won’t let up anytime soon. The star looked wonderful at the Oscars, and walked tall in a super chunky, mirrored platform sandal to complete her look.

Colman Domingo

As the star of the lauded civil rights drama, Rustin, Colman Domingo made numerous appearances on red carpets recently, but his decision to head to the Academy Awards in custom Louis Vuitton cowboy boots (in black with gold accents) has absolutely put him near the top of everyone’s fashionable celeb list.

Emily Blunt

Never mind the Oscar dress with the floating shoulders, most would likely say that Emily Blunt’s silver heels with a little half-bow across her toes managed to actually steal the show from her gorgeously constructed cream and silver gown.

Mahershala Ali

Again, men don’t always think to step up their shoe game for red carpets, but Mahershala Ali certainly did. His graphic black and white loafers with a slight heel absolutely helped him stand out in a sea of men with black footwear.

Ava DuVernay

Director Ava DuVernay looked lovely in her powder blue ensemble, and her silver shoes with a little bit of a platform went nicely with the buckled straps of her off-the-shoulder dress.

Carly Pearce

People came out in their finest for the CMT Awards, and country singer Carly Pearce was no different. The black and silver gem-studded stunners she wore on her feet obviously made a fabulous statement. Look at that crazy high stiletto heel!

Celine Song

Just because you’re in black flats, it doesn’t have to mean that your choice of shoe has to be boring. Wearing a flowy, lower-calf length skirt to walk the Oscar red carpet, filmmaker Celine Song was able to show off her chunky footwear and look like the very picture of effortless cool.

Wendy Thembelihle Juel

The South African/Danish model may have put on a fitted, shimmering pink dress for her time at the Academy Awards, but she also chose black as the perfect color for her shoes. Her sandals gave the gown an extra oomph with a pretty crystal (or diamond) bow across each set of toes that helped to make them the real focal point of her glamorous look.

Erika Alexander

To celebrate the Oscar nods received by American Fiction, star Erika Alexander stepped out in a truly original dress. And, her shoes were different as well, seeing as how it’s relatively rare to see ladies on the red carpet in white heels.

Alex Borstein

Black can be very basic, but not, apparently, if you’re The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Alex Borstein. The talent stepped out to the Critics Choice Awards in delicately laced black pumps that appear to be see-through, which also had a scalloped edge to compliment her sheer dress.

Ke Huy Quan

Ke Huy Quan is clearly enjoying his revitalized time in the spotlight, and the Oscar winner knows how to get all dressed up for the red carpet. Here, he wears a classic pair of glossy black, tie-up dress shoes, and they pair perfectly with his deep red and black tuxedo.

Simu Liu

The People’s Choice Awards saw Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Barbie star Simu Liu hit the carpet in a fantastic oxblood-colored suit. And, not only did his shoes match, but he switched things up from typical men’s shoes and donned suede footwear for the occasion. Love it!

Andrew Scott

It can be so, so nice to buck convention and head to a fancy event in an ensemble that evokes a high/low effect, which is exactly what All of Us Strangers and Ripley star Andrew Scott did when he attended the Golden Globe Awards in January 2024. Instead of going for a full, all-white tuxedo, he went with the jacket, wide-leg pants and a thin t-shirt, which were beautifully accompanied by full-coverage shoes in the same creamy shade with an ultra-low black heel.

Oprah Winfrey

If you paid any attention to the many events that media mogul extraordinaire Oprah Winfrey went to in order to celebrate and promote the release of the musical The Color Purple, well, you’ll know that the many shades of that very hue were her choice for all of them. This included her time at the Golden Globes, where she capped her lovely, custom Louis Vuitton dress (which appears to be a shimmery, optical illusion-like crushed velvet) with grape-colored Manolo Blahnik shoes. So sophisticated, right?

Rachel Brosnahan

Talk about working a look! The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star (who’s soon to be our new Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy) went all red for the Golden Globes and was a total stunner. She stepped out in a custom Sergio Hudson off-the-shoulder gown, which featured a slinky line of buttons from top to toe that opened about halfway down. Brosnahan is also in satiny, custom-made Christian Louboutin sandals with a thin ankle strap that perfectly sets off her whole outfit.

Selena Gomez

Only Murders in the Building superstar Selena Gomez has been on top since her teens, so she knows how to work a red carpet! Her Globes look featured one of the more intriguing gowns of the night; a glossy, deep red stunner with black accents and a full, hi-low hem that gave everyone a perfect look at her cool shoes in a lipstick shade of red that appeared to feature some holographic effects. Selena can do no wrong!

Helen Mirren

Dame Helen Mirren (who really should be given her own Fast & Furious movie) hasn’t portrayed a queen more than once for nothing. She went to the Globes in a lavender ensemble that featured a bodice that gathered at her side and a sweeping skirt, topped with a two-tone cape (Yes, honey!) and extremely chunky, platform sandals in a shade of silver that perfectly matched her hair. Does glam get any better?

Jessica Williams

Speaking of royalty, Shrinking and Road House star Jessica Williams looked like an absolute princess as a nominee when she attended the Primetime Emmy Awards in January 2024. Williams wore a very ladylike custom-made off-the-shoulder Rodarte gown that was mostly black, with a hi-low hem that exposed fluffy layers of white tulle underneath. Her shoes are black and closed-toe but with netting near the top and three rather large crystal flowers, which only add to the regal look.

Bella Ramsey

Bella Ramsey stepped out to the Emmys in a very clean, professional style that’s far different from what we usually see when it comes to suits at awards shows. The star, who’s currently working on The Last of Us Season 2 for HBO) is wearing four different colors (the forest green suit, a deep purple button-down shirt, a red turtleneck and deep burgundy shoes), but somehow it all works together to make a clean look. Speaking of the shoes, thick black soles and the silver medallion on each help to both make a statement and ground the whole outfit.

Joan Collins

Timeless style is called “timeless” for very good reasons, and that’s because anyone at any age can look good wearing it in any year! Dynasty legend Joan Collins presented at the Emmy Awards, and put on her finest pleated Jenny Packham gown in a silvery sky blue dotted with crystals. To complete her outfit, the longtime star chose a closed-toe shoe in a similar color with a little embellishment right on the top just made to peek out from under her long, caped dress.

Jeffrey Wright

It looks as though colors like red, maroon, and oxblood were kinda popular recently, doesn’t it? American Fiction lead Jeffrey Wright showed up for February 2024’s Screen Actors Guild Awards (where he was nominated for his role and as part of the cast as a whole) in a perfectly tailored tuxedo of the latter color that looked quite sharp. Even better? His sturdy shoes in a similar shade added just enough interest with different colors on the bottom.

Keith David

Shades of aubergine pretty much always help people stand out at events, and that’s even more true when you’re dressed in it head to toe and look as happy as Keith David did at the SAG awards. Also attending for American Fiction’s cast nomination, the star was, indeed, donning the color for his lovely suit with a nice sheen, tie and shirt in slightly different but still within the color family hue and, his shoes. David went with a simple shoe, but in a suede fabric that helps then stand out just a teensy bit.

Tyler James Williams

Again, head-to-toe in one color can work wonders for netting the wearer a truly memorable look, and Abbott Elementary’s Tyler James Williams definitely got the memo. He showed up and showed out for his SAG Awards appearance in a natty baby blue suit with a matching, sheer t-shirt underneath, and complimented the ‘fit with some extremely classy white shoes.

Lauren Daigle

Contemporary Christian music singer Lauren Daigle was able to celebrate her Grammy Award nominations at the ceremony in a standout of frilly navy blue and black tulle gown punctuated with multicolored accents by Shahar Avnet. But, the true winner of this ensemble might just be her shoes: white and blue polka-dotted John Fluevog sandals with a platform and a very cool sculpted heel.

CeeLo Green

Remember, wearing colors in one family from head to toe is gold…especially if you actually decide to wear different shades of actual gold! Former The Voice coach CeeLo Green headed to the Grammys with his lady friend looking like a statuette (as did she; her hair and lips are even gold), and if there was ever a time to do such a thing it’s at a major award show. Green capped off his very comfortable-looking outfit with simply styled gold shoes, because if you’re wearing all gold how many embellishments do you really need, anyway?

Fantasia Barrino

American Idol alum Fantasia Barrino was all set to perform at the 66th Grammy Awards, but first, she had to hit the red carpet. And, it would be fair to say that her style for the night was also a hit, as she stepped out in a nude gown with black accents and paired the whole thing with black platform sandals that had alluring crisscrossing straps for days. 

Kingsley Ben-Adir

The star of Bob Marley: One Love, Kingsley Ben-Adir, also took a turn on the Grammy red carpet, and while his Gucci jacket and shirt in a nearly lime green color with black slacks are nearly casual in flair, anything but can be said about his footwear. The man gave some seriously good shoe in black loafers covered in silver studs, and these just might be the best shoes on the list!

As you can see, this awards season saw a lot of fabulous and daring shoe styles on the red carpet, and we are all the better for it!

The stars might get the attention, but they can't make movies alone. The supporting roles, often played by character actors might not be household names, but the great ones can elevate a film or TV show just as much as the lead. The great ones also tend to show up seemingly everywhere. This is a list of those actors, the true pros in show business. 

Robert Davi

You might know him as one of the Fratelli brothers in the cast of The Goonies (alongside another great character actor, Joe Pantoliano),  or as one of the Agent Johnsons in Die Hard, but you definitely know Robert Davi. He usually plays a baddie, as he does as a henchman in the Timothy Dalton-era James Bond flick Licence To Kill. 

CCH Pounder

Whether it's a serious movie like Prizzi's Honor or an over-the-top movie like Face/Off CCH Pounder is always a welcome addition to any cast. She is a chameleon in her roles, something she continues to be even in the 2020s. In the '80s and '90s, she was all over film and TV with shows as varying as 227 and ER among many, many others. 

Paul Gleason

If you mess with the bull, you'll get the horn, as Paul Gleason as Assistant Principal Vernon in The Breakfast Club. Of course, he's also well-known as part of the wonderful cast in Die Hard as well as playing Mr. Beeks in Trading Places. Sadly Gleason passed away way too young at 67 in 2006. 

Carol Kane

Carol Kane is one of the funniest actors in Hollywood and that ensured she always had important roles in a ton of movies. Like playing the Miracle Max's wife Valerie in The Princess Bride and the hilarious Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooged alongside Bill Murray. Whether it was Murray or Billy Crystal, or whomever, she can go toe-to-toe with some of the best comedic actors of all time. 

Michael Ironside

Michael Ironside is probably best known as Jester in Top Gun, but he's got literally hundreds of other acting credits, according to IMDB. He's also appeared in movies like Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Free Willy, and much more. Plus TV shows like V: The Final Battle, ER, and Walker, Texas Ranger. 

Edie McClurg

While she's best known as the secretary in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Edie McClurg is true legend who's been in many movies. In the '80s, it seemed like she popped up in every comedy, including Mr. Mom, and Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield, but maybe her funniest appearance is as the rental car agent at the airport in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles who has had enough of Neal Page (Steve Martin). 

Stephen Tobolowsky

You might not know his name (which is his passport) but you sure as heckfire know his face. Stephen Tobolowsky is so great at playing annoying characters like "Needlenose" Ned Ryerson in Groundhog's Day and oblivious characters like Werner Brandes, the hapless employee targeted by the hackers in Sneakers. 

John C. McGinley

While he found his biggest success in the cast of Scrubs in the 2000s, John C. McGinley has been working hard in Hollywood for decades, mostly as a comedic character actor. Before Scrubs he was best known for playing one of the Bobs in Office Space. He was also excellent in early dramatic roles in two Oliver Stone classics, Wall Street and Platoon. 

Olympia Dukakis

Many years into her career Olympia Dukakis got some of the attention she richly deserved when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Moonstruck. Both before and after that role, she was a character actor with incredible range in movies like Deathwish, Look Who's Talking, and Mr. Holland's Opus.

Keith David

Keith David, not to be confused with David Keith, another great character actor, is a legend at this point. He's been in Best Picture winners like Platoon, cult classics like They Live with wrestler Roddy Piper, and There's Something About Mary, Gen X classics like Reality Bites, and everything in between.

William Atherton

Nobody in Hollywood plays disagreeable characters quite as well as legendary character actor William Atherton. Whether it's in comedies like Ghostbusters and Real Genius, or action movies as a cast member of Die Hard, he always plays guys audiences love to hate. Even in ill-conceived movies like Bio-Dome, Atherton shines. Truly one of the best. 

Glenne Headly

Glenne Headly is most well known for her role as the supposed "United States Soap Queen" in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but in addition to her extensive work on the stage, the late Headly was in dozens of movies. Dick Tracy, Mortal Thoughts, Mr. Holland's Opus, and movies like ER all benefited from her talents. 

Annie Potts

Ghostbusters and Pretty In Pink are the two '80s movies that Annie Potts is best recognized for, but she's been in so much more. Of course, she was part of the main cast of Designing Women, but she also played some amazing supporting roles in Jumpin' Jack Flash, Who's Harry Crumb?, and as the voice of Peep in the Toy Story franchise. 

Kurt Fuller

Between 1987 and 1999 Kurt Fuller appeared in over two dozen movies. He's become one of the ultimate "that guys" in Hollywood. Usually, he plays a jerk, and wow does he play them well! Like fellow character William Atherton, Fuller is just a genius at playing wholly unlikeable characters like the mayor's aide in Ghostbusters II among others. 

Louise Fletcher

The late Louise Fletcher's career wasn't like a lot of other brilliant character actors on this list. Very early in it, she won an Oscar for her performance as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. In the '80s and '90s, she was best known for her supporting work in movies like Cruel Intentions, The Boy Who Could Fly, and Firestarter.

James Rebhorn

James Rebhorn, who sadly passed away in 2014, had an incredible career as a character acting, starting in the 1980s. from My Cousin Vinny to Scent of a Woman, to Carlito's Way to The Game, Rebhorn played some really memorable characters. 

Eddie Deezen

You might not know his name, but you almost certainly know his face. Eddie Deezen is probably most famous for playing Eugene in Grease and Grease II, but in the '80s he was all over the place. In WarGames, he plays a character named Eddie Malvin and in Punky Brewster he played a recurring character named... Eddie Malvin! Does that mean Punky Brewster and WarGames exist in the same universe?? Whoa! 

Martha Plimpton

If you grew up in the '80s, there's a good chance that Martha Plimpton was in one of the movies you most remember. Maybe it's The Goonies, maybe it's Parenthood, or The Mosquito Coast, but no matter what you probably recognize her from something. She's still doing it all these years later too.

Miguel Ferrer

Before his death in 2017, Miguel Ferrer was one everywhere, starting in the early eighties on TV shows like Magnum, PI, and CHiPs. He also made his mark as a great character actor in the movies, playing pivotal supporting roles in RoboCop, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock,  Deepstar Six, and dozens of others. 

Lupe Ontiveros

The most important and notable role Lupe Ontiveros played in her career was the singer Selena's murderer Yolanda Saldívar in Selena. She was also a common face in many movies and TV shows in supporting roles, including As Good as It Gets and The Goonies.

Ronny Cox

Ronny Cox, like others on the list, is superb at playing jerks. Maybe his most famous example is Dick Jones, the president of Omni Consumer Products in RoboCop. He's also famous for playing Lt. Andrew Bogomil in Beverly Hills Cop who starts as a jerk but ends up the ultimate ally. He also appears alongside fellow character actor Michael Ironsides in Total Recall as Gov. Vilos Cohaagen.

Veronica Cartwright

Though she is probably most famous for a '70s movie, the original Alien, in which she played Joan Lambert. In the '80s, she was a supporting player in movies like The Right Stuff, where she played Gus Grissom's wife, The Witches of Eastwick, and Flight Of The Navigator, so if you watched cable in the '80s, you know you've seen her.  

Mike Starr

Mike Starr is the definition of a first-rate character actor. In the '80s and '90s, he appeared in dozens of movies, often playing some version of a tough guy. Some notable examples include Frenchy in Goodfellas and Frankie in The Hudsucker Proxy. He's best known for playing Joe, the tough guy who has a heart attack after eating hot peppers in Dumb and Dumber. 

Dabney Coleman

When Dabney Coleman died in 2024, we lost one of Hollywood's great character actors. He played a supporting role in some of the most popular movies of the eighties, including WarGames, 9 to 5, Cloak & Dagger, Tootsie, On Golden Pond, and You've Got Mail, for starters. Truly one of the best. 

Barry Corbin

Barry Corbin starred as a retired astronaut in Northern Exposure in the early '90s, but outside of that, he's had a remarkable career in supporting roles. He plays a general in WarGames, a prison warden in Stir Crazy, and a police sergeant in Under Cover with Jennifer Jason Leigh, which gives you a good idea of what kind of characters he is great at. 

David Paymer

David Paymer is another great example of a guy who shows in multiple movies every year. He has a remarkable range, appearing in roles like Ira (half of Ira & Barry) in City Slickers, Dan Enright in the underrated Quiz Show, and Stan Young in Mr. Saturday with Billy Crystal, which landed Paymer an Oscar nomination. He also earned acclaim for playing Leo in Get Shorty and Arthur Stegman in Payback.

Mare Winningham

Mare Winningham, who many will recognize from St. Elmo's Fire has had an astounding career as a supporting actress on TV, having been nominated for eight Emmys over her career, almost all in a supporting role. She is the exact kind of actress this list is meant to celebrate. 

Bill Cobbs

Bill Cobbs' career started in the early '70s, but it was in the '80s and '90s when he became ubiquitous in movies. In the '80s he had supporting roles in Trading Places, The Cotton Club, The Color Of Money, Bird, and many others. In the '90s you might have spotted him in Demolition Man, New Jack City, The Hudsucker Proxy, Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead, and That Thing You Do!...among others as well. 

James Hong

It would be impossible to list all the roles that the great James Hong has played in Hollywood. His career stretches way back to the 1950s and is one of the rare few character actors to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which tells all you need to know. There is no way that any movie lover hasn't seen and appreciated Hong in multiple movies, like The Golden Child, Big Trouble In Little China, Airplane!, Blade Runner, etc... the list goes on and on. And that's not even getting into his TV work which includes playing "Bruce" in the legendary Seinfeld episode "The Chinese Restaurant." 

Penny Johnson Jerald

Penny Johnson Jerald is probably best known today for playing Sherry Palmer on 24, but in the '80s and '90s, she was everywhere on TV. She had bigger roles on The Larry Sanders Show and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and she made dozens of appearances on other shows as well, in shorter stints. 

Dianne Wiest

You might not think of Dianne Wiest as a character actor, as she has two Oscars to her name, which is rarified air, but just shows how amazing she is at disappearing into characters. From Footloose to Hannah and Her Sister to Bullets Over Broadway (the latter two of which she won her Oscars for), she's been killing it for decades.

Lynne Thigpen

It's hard to believe Lynne Thigpen died over 20 years ago, but it's not hard to believe she left such a strong legacy, mostly as a character actor. For many people, she'll be first remembered as the host of Where In The World Is Carmen Santiago, but she was way more than a game show host. She was all over TV and movies in the '80s and '90s and she has been missed ever since she died at only age 54 in 2003. 

So there it is, a list of hard-working actors that don't get the attention of the big stars, but are every bit as talented and dedicated their craft. 

For every Denzel Washington or Julia Roberts, there are hundreds of actors who help populate our favorite movies and TV shows, and bring to life essential characters for our beloved stars to work for, fight with, date, and more on screen. Many of these actors, while not so famous that they have name recognition to the general public, could be said to be “face famous.” Here’s a list of 32 character actors you’d recognize, even if you don’t know their names.

Ted Levine

If you’ve seen The Silence of the Lambs you’ve likely been creeped out by Ted Levine. He portrayed Jame “Buffalo Bill” Gumb in that 1991 classic, and has since been in a number of movies, like The Fast and the Furious, Ali, American Gangster, Shutter Island, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Meanwhile, on TV he’s known for work in innumerable shows such as Ray Donovan, The Alienist and Monk, where he played Captain Leland Stottlemeyer for all 124 episodes and the 2023 Peacock movie.

Roma Maffia

Roma Maffia is probably best known for playing Dr. Liz Cruz throughout the six-season run of Nip/Tuck, or for her work as Lieutenant Linda Tanner on Pretty Little Liars, but she’s been all over the TV dial and movie screens since 1983. She’s appeared in movies like Disclosure, and The Paper, while working on series such as Billions, Boston Legal, Bull, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS and Dexter.

Kurt Fuller

With 209 credits to his name, you’ve almost definitely seen Kurt Fuller somewhere. He’s been in a number of shows, like Evil (he’s Dr. Kurt Boggs), Psych (Coroner Woody Strode), Supernatural (Zachariah), The Good Fight, The Good Wife and Parenthood. Plus, he’s appeared in films such as Anger Management, Ghostbusters II and The Running Man.

Kevin Dunn

Yet another recognizable face is that of Kevin Dunn, who many will know as Ben Cafferty on the hit political comedy, Veep. He’s also been in shows like Suits, Mom, City on a Hill, True Detective, Prison Break and Boston Legal, and also played Ron Witwicky in the first three Transformers movies.

Keith David

With a resume 369 credits strong, and film and TV appearances beginning over 40 years ago, you can’t miss Keith David or his unmistakable voice. You saw him as Childs in The Thing in 1982, King in Platoon, and other movies like Armageddon, Pitch Black, Requiem for a Dream and Barbershop. His TV appearances include one of the leads on Greenleaf, Community, and ER, and he’s done voice work for a number of animated titles, including voicing Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog.

Caroline Aaron

Caroline Aaron has probably been in many of your favorite movies: Edward Scissorhands, 21 Jump Street and its sequel, and Sleepless in Seattle. She’s also been in an incredible amount of shows like Ghosts, Episodes, Madam Secretary, Transparent, 2 Broke Girls, Desperate Housewives, and recently played Shirley Maisel on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. 

Toby Huss

Toby Huss is among the actors whose voice may be as recognizable as his face, seeing as how he voiced Kahn Sr., Cotton Hill and various others on King of the Hill for 164 episodes. However, you’ve definitely seen him in shows/movies like Halt and Catch Fire, Dickinson, Reno 911!, GLOW, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Blonde, 42, and Rescue Dawn.

Bill Cobbs

You could have seen Bill Cobbs in films like Trading Places, New Jack City, Air Bud, Enough, The Bodyguard, Demolition Man, Hope Floats or Night at the Museum, or you may have seen some of his many television appearances on shows like Designing Women, The Wayans Bros., JAG, NYPD Blue, The Sopranos, One Tree Hill, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or countless others.

Lupe Ontiveros

Before her death in 2012, Lupe Ontiveros was known for films like Real Women Have Curves, Selena, and As Good as it Gets (where Jack Nicholson told her Nora to “sell crazy someplace else”), but the actress had over 100 other TV and film credits, including Desperate Housewives, Party Down, Weeds, Reba, Universal Soldier, This Christmas, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.

Stephen Root

Stephen Root will probably always be known as Milton in 1999’s Office Space, and for voicing characters like Buck Strickland and Bill Dauterive on King of the Hill, but he’s also been in shows like Barry (as Monroe Fuches), The Man in the High Castle, Succession, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, True Blood, The Book of Boba Fett and The Big Bang Theory, and movies like Get Out, Selma, To Leslie, and Bombshell.

Loretta Devine

Likely best known for her roles as Cynthia Carmichael on The Carmichael Show, Adele Weber on Grey’s Anatomy and Marla Hendricks on Boston Public, Loretta Devine also had a starring role in the film Waiting to Exhale, and has appeared in other movies like I Am Sam, What Women Want, Urban Legends, and Crash, and shows like Supernatural,  P-Valley, black-ish and Being Mary Jane.

Vernée Watson

If you love The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, then you know Vernée Watson as Will’s mom, Vy, but she’s more recently been on General Hospital (as Stella Henry) and Bob Hearts Abishola (Gloria Tyler). While known and beloved for his NSFW catchphrase as Clay Davis in The Wire cast, Isiah Whitlock, Jr. has been in well over 100 movies and TV shows. He can be seen in series like Your Honor, Atlanta, Veep, Survivor’s Remorse, Law & Order: SVU, FBI, The Blacklist and Gotham. His film credits include Goodfellas, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Enchanted, BlacKkKlansman and Da 5 Bloods.

Anna Deavere Smith

Known for her roles as Gloria Akalitus on Nurse Jackie and Nancy McNally on The West Wing, and Maud on Inventing Anna, Anna Deavere Smith has likely been in lots of things you loved. James Hong

If you think you haven’t seen James Hong... you’re probably just wrong. Since 1954 he’s racked up 459 credits across movies and TV, having appeared in films like Flower Drum Song, Chinatown, Big Trouble in Little China, The Golden Child, The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time, and, most recently as Gong Gong in Everything Everywhere All At Once. His television appearances are vast, and include series like American Born Chinese, The Thundermans, Hawaii Five-0 (original and reboot), The Blacklist, Elementary, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Key and Peele, The Big Bang Theory, Chuck, King of Queens and dozens more.

David Koechner

Best known for his role as Champ Kind in the Anchorman movies, David Koechner has made quite a name for himself away from that beloved film series. He’s been in others like Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Krampus and Behind the Candelabra, and appeared on TV shows like The Office (as Todd Packer), The Goldbergs (Bill Lewis), Justified: City Primeval, Bless This Mess, Drunk History, Stan Against Evil, Another Period, the 2017's Twin Peaks, Bones, and was a cast member on SNL in Season 21.

Beth Grant

Beth Grant has been in almost everything: films like Donnie Darko, Little Miss Sunshine, To Wong Fu, Thanks For Everything! Rob Morgan

Rob Morgan has been on our screens since 2004, but it’s possible that he didn’t really become recognizable until he made the latter of one of his 15 appearances as Turk Barrett in Marvel’s Netflix shows, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Defenders, Luke Cage, The Punisher and Iron Fist. Mel Rodriguez

Known for portraying Todd Rodriguez on Fox’s The Last Man On Earth and Hugo Ramirez in CSI: Vegas, Mel Rodriguez has probably been in tons of other series you’ve watched since 1999, including The Afterparty, Made for Love, Better Call Saul, Getting On, Community, Big Love, George Lopez, Gilmore Girls and Malcolm in the Middle. His film credits include Little Miss Sunshine and 2018’s Overboard.

Robert Curtis Brown

If you’re a High School Musical fan, you might know Robert Curtis Brown for his part as Sharpay’s dad, Vance, in the two sequels and Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, but he’s also done plenty away from Disney. His other films include It’s Complicated, 2009’s Halloween II, Spider-Man 3, Dreamgirls, Bruce Almighty, Catch Me If You Can and Trading Places, while he’s been on TV shows such as Station 19, CSI: Vegas, Dear White People, The Handmaid’s Tale, Beverly Hills 90210, Switched at Birth, Barry, Lucifer and Castle.

Penny Johnson Jerald

Though she was already known for playing Beverly on The Larry Sanders Show and Kasidy Yates on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Penny Johnson Jerald really caught people’s attention during her 45-episode run as the president’s wife, Sherry Palmer, on 24. She’s also Captain Gates on Castle, Dr. Claire Finn on The Orville and can be seen now as the principal on the Ted series. Her films include Absolute Power, What’s Love Got to Do with It, Swing Shift and The Hills Have Eyes II.

Tamlyn Tomita

After playing Kumiko in The Karate Kid Part II, Tamlyn Tomita went on to films like The Joy Luck Club, and The Day After Tomorrow. Meanwhile, she portrayed Allegra on ABC’s The Good Doctor, along with recurring characters on shows like Teen Wolf, Berlin Station, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Star Trek: Picard, The Man in the High Castle, Chasing Life, Glee, True Blood, Eureka, and brought Kumiko back for Cobra Kai.

Anyone who watched Justified or The Americans should remember Margo Martindale’s Emmy-winning roles as Mags Bennett and Claudia, respectively, but there are so many other shows and movies to watch her in. These include TV series like Sneaky Pete, Mrs. Davis, Your Honor, the 2021 season of American Crime Story, Mrs. America, The Good Wife and The Millers, while Martindale has been in films such as The Firm, Dead Man Walking, The Hours, Million Dollar Baby, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Now you'll be able to put the faces of several character actors to their names!

The Disney live-action remake train is showing no slowing down. The recent live-action Little Mermaid made over a half billion dollars at the global box office, and while that’s actually a number on the low side when compared to films like Aladdin and the Lion King, it’s certainly no small feat. Recent reports indicate that another Disney Princess, The Princess and the Frog’s Tiana, is currently in line to get her own live-action film. One assumes that if the movie happens it will include an original cast, but it sounds like Keith David would be more than willing to return.

Keith David voiced Dr. Facillier, aka the Shadowman, in the original The Princess and the Frog and he posted to Twitter following the news that Disney was reportedly looking at giving that film the live-action remake treatment. He doesn’t know anything about the project, including if it’s even real, but that’s because nobody has asked him to play the role in live-action. David said…

Disney has announced several live-action remakes that are in various states of development, from a live-action Snow White movie which will be out next year, to other projects that are still in the works from Lilo and Stitch to Tangled. However, the recent report from DisInsider that Princess and the Frog was getting the live-action treatment has not been confirmed. It’s unclear how far along such a project is or when we might see it.

A Princess and the Frog remake certainly makes a lot of sense. The movie is possibly more popular now than it has ever been before. The original animated film is also set to get some sort of sequel series on Disney+, though that has been delayed into next year. We’re also seeing The Princess and the Frog becoming a big part of Disney Parks with Tiana’s Bayou Aventure taking over Splash Mountain at both Disney Land and Walt Disney World. Based on what we know about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, its story will follow, not retell, the events of the movie. For the record, most of the original voice cast is returning for the new ride, but Keith David has yet to be announced. 

It’s not exactly a shock that nobody has called Keith David to reprise his role. As absolutely excellent as Keith David was in The Princess and the Frog, there has seemed to be little interest from Disney regarding using original voice actors in remakes. The only time that has happened so far was when James Earl Jones lent his epic voice to Mufasa in the Lion King remake as he had done in the original. 

The thing is, Keith David has an equally epic voice, and Disney could do a hell of a lot worse than casting him in live-action. While a lot of the original voice cast has likely “aged out” of the roles today, there’s no reason David couldn’t play Facilier in live-action. 

Of course, there could also be other reasons that nobody has reached out to Keith David. While we’re calling this reported film a live-action remake, not all of Disney’s “remakes” have actually been that. Some have been prequels, some have been sequels, and some have taken the original premise, but reframed it in some way. It’s possible that whatever live-action Princess and the Frog project might be in development might be, or could become, something like that.

While Disney has officially announced several of its live-action adaptations, it has yet to confirm The Princess and the Frog is one of them. Even if such a film is in development, it could end up getting scrapped for any number of reasons. If, and when Disney does confirm it, we’ll likely learn more about what it is, and whether there’s a chance Keith David could return. 

When it comes to animated films, it’s never a big surprise that a ton of stars tend to join those casts, and now, DC’s League of Super Pets has added to that with their list of stars, from action heroes such as Dwayne Johnson to comedians like Kevin Hart. But with so many characters and so many amazing cast members, you might be wondering where you’ve seen - or heard - them before. 

If you’re like me and trying to see exactly where these famous faces were from, check out where you might have seen the DC’s League of Super Pets voice cast before. 

Dwayne Johnson (Krypto The Super-Dog) 

Starting off with the main hero in DC’s League of Super Pets, we have Krypto, a character I’m pretty familiar with from the Krypto the Super-Dog TV show from a long time ago - but now, he’s in a movie and is voiced by the fabulous Dwayne Johnson. If you don’t know that name, surely you have been living under a rock (pun intended). While he started off his career in the WWE, Johnson continues to prove how talented he is as a movie star. 

He played Maui in Moana, and has appeared in films such as the comedy, The Game Plan, the Jumanji series, Central Intelligence, Rampage, the Fast and Furious series, Skyscraper, Jungle Cruise, and more. He also had a pretty big year in 2021 with the release of Red Notice on Netflix.

Johnson has also had some experience with television as well, producing (and appearing) in the NBC series, Young Rock, as well leading the series, Ballers. 

Kevin Hart (Ace The Hound)

Next up on this list, we have everyone’s favorite hilarious comedian, Kevin Hart, who plays Ace in DC’s League of Super Pets. Hart has been in many movies and produced some hilarious comedy specials, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve seen him before. 

Some of his biggest roles thus far have included Night School, Think Like A Man, Ride Along, The Man From Toronto, About Last Night, and the drama, Fatherhood, alongside many others. This is also the fourth time that Hart and Johnson have collaborated together on a film, with the first being Central Intelligence, and the next two being the Jumanji series. Since these two are always ripping on each other, it’ll be fun to watch the press tour for DC’s League of Super Pets. 

Kate McKinnon (Lulu The Guinea Pig)

Moving on, we now have Kate McKinnon, who voices Lulu the Guinea Pig in DC’s League of Super Pets. If that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because McKinnon was a huge star on NBC’s Saturday Night Live before she left in 2022, but besides her big role on the sketch series, this actress has done plenty. 

Some of her biggest roles this far was being a part of the Bombshell cast, starring in 2016’s Ghostbusters, and the films The Spy Who Dumped Me and Yesteryear, among others. She also had a starring role in the Peacock original series, Joe vs. Carole, playing Carole Baskin. 

John Krasinski (Superman)

Next up on this list we have John Krasinski, who voiced Superman in DC’s League of Super Pets. As someone who has followed Krasinski for a long time, I can’t think of anyone better to voice the superhero in this film. One of his most famous roles was portraying Jim Halpert as part of The Office cast, and becoming the second half to one of the cutest relationships on television, but Krasinski has done plenty of other fun roles. 

Krasinski directed both A Quiet Place movies, while starring in the first one, and has appeared in other films such as Away We Go, It’s Complicated, Big Miracle, and more, and had voice roles in the Pixar film Monsters University, as well as the Hayao Miyazaki film, The Wind Rises. 

The actor has also dived back into television, starring as Jack Ryan in the titular series on Amazon Prime, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. In 2022, he appeared as Reed Richards in Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. 

Vanessa Bayer (PB The Potbelly Pig)

Moving on, we take a look at Vanessa Bayer, who voiced PB the Potbelly Pig in DC’s League of Super Pets. Bayer is another Saturday Night Live alumni and is funny as all heck, but she has also been in plenty of other movies and TV shows as well. 

Some of her biggest movies have been Trainwreck, Office Christmas Party, Ibiza, Barb and Star Go To Vista del Mar, and more. She also has the lead role in the Showtime comedy, I Love That For You, and has guest starred on many other TV shows as well. 

Natasha Lyonne (Merton The Turtle)

Natasha Lyonne voices Merton the Turtle in DC’s League of Super Pets, and has had quite the career in both movies and TV. For the last couple of years, she’s starred in Russian Doll on Netflix, but prior to that, she was a big part of the Orange is the New Black cast, where she played Nicky. However, Lyonne has done much more in the film and television industry than just her roles on TV. 

Some of her biggest roles have been in the American Pie cast, Ad Astra, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Scary Movie 2, But I’m A Cheerleader, Sleeping With Other People, and many others. 

Diego Luna (Chip The Squirrel)

Moving on, we now take a look at Diego Luna, who voices Chip the Squirrel in DC’s League of Super Pets. Luna has been an even bigger star in Hollywood lately, mainly thanks to his huge role in the popular Star Wars film, Rouge One: A Star Wars Story, where he played Cassian Andor - a role he is set to reprise in the upcoming Disney+ series, Andor, following the character before the film. 

However, Luna has done plenty of other projects you might recognize. He had a big role on the Netflix series, Narcos: Mexico, where he played Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo. He also has appeared in a variety of movie roles, including several Spanish films, Berlin, I Love You, A Rainy Day In New York, Wander Darkly, If Beale Street Could Talk, and more. 

Marc Maron (Lex Luthor)

Marc Maron voices the legendary villain, Lex Luthor, in DC’s League of Super Pets, and he has done plenty in the movie and TV business. Maron is mainly known for his comedy, and has had several guest appearances on late night talk shows, such as the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, but he’s done plenty on his own. He hosted his own talk show, The Marc Maron Show, and co-hosted both Morning Sedition and Breakroom Live. 

Maron has also acted plenty before, doing movies such as Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Stardust, Joker, Respect, and more. He’s also appeared in many TV shows, including having his own series, Maron, and appearing in shows such as Easy, The Simpsons, and Roadies among others. He also had a co-starring role in the cancelled-too-soon Netflix series, GLOW. 

Keanu Reeves (Batman)

I don’t think I could have pictured a better casting for the role of Batman in DC’s League of Super Pets than Keanu Reeves himself, and it’s so cool to see him voicing this awesome role. Reeves has been in Hollywood for decades, and is one our our most enduring action stars. 

Reeves’ biggest roles have definitely been the Bill & Ted film series, his starring part in The Matrix Series, as well as his titular role in the John Wick movie saga, which is getting a fourth movie in 2023. However, Reeves has plenty of other major films, such as Constantine, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Street Kings, The Lake House, Already Gone, and more. He even had a voice role in Pixar’s Toy Story 4 as Duke Caboom.

Thomas Middleditch (Keith a.k.a. Ice Guinea Pig) 

Moving on, we now take a look at Thomas Middleditch, who voices Keith, known as the Ice Guinea Pig in DC’s League of Super Pets. Middleditch is primarily known for his role on the hit HBO series, Silicon Valley, but has done plenty of other roles that you might recognize him from. 

He has done voice roles in shows such as Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, and the Hulu original series, Solar Opposites, and had a main role in the TV series, B Positive. He also had a voice role in the movie Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, and has done live-action roles in movies such as Someone Marry Barry, The Bronze, Once Upon A Time in Venice, Tag, Zombieland: Double Tap, and more. 

Ben Schwartz  (Mark a.k.a. Fire Guinea Pig) 

Next up, we have Ben Schwartz, who voices Mark, known as the Fire Guinea Pig in DC’s League of Super Pets. Schwartz was primarily known for his role in the Parks and Recreation cast, but has since gone on to do plenty of other fun parts. 

Some of his biggest film roles have included voicing the titular character in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, and appearing in Peep World, This Is Where I Leave You, Flora & Ulysses, Falling Down, The Walk, and more. Schwartz has also had a prominent TV career besides Parks and Recreation, having roles in TV shows like Netflix’s Space Force, the comedy series The Afterparty on Apple TV+, House of Lies, Ducktales, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more. 

Additional Voices

Lastly, there are plenty of other additional voices in DC’s League of Super Pets that we should take the time to mention. 

These include Olivia Wilde as Lois Lane, Yvette Nicole Brown as Patty, Jameela Jamil as Wonder Woman, Jemaine Clement as Aquaman, Daveed Diggs as Cyborg, Alfred Molina as Jor-El, Lena Headey as Lara, Keith David as Dog-El, Busy Philipps as Foofy Dog, Maya Erskine as Mercy Graves, and Dan Folger in the additional roles of Carl, Pilot, and Radio. 

Goodness, with so many names on here, you might think we were going to an awards show of some kind, but this is just the talent that DC’s League of Super Pets has, and it’ll be a super time wondering where these actors go next after suiting up in their fluffy suits.  

Community is heading into Season 6 with a much different cast than the one it started out with. Following the recent departures of Yvette Nicole Brown and Jonathan Banks – who left for personal and professional reasons, respectively – the quirky comedy series has found two solid actors to fill the void, as veteran actor Keith David (Platoon) and TV mainstay Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) were added to the cast as series regulars. This season should be gravy with these additions.

According to TV Guide, David is joining the Greendale staff as a retired scientist named Elroy Patashnik, who finds work at the community college as a way of reinventing himself. Brewster will play Francesca “Frankie” Dent, a consultant who is brought in to try and bring Greendale up to a higher standard. Both characters are about positivity, which means they’re probably going to find themselves at the butt end of some comedic terror as they enter this particularly off-kilter work atmosphere.

Greendale isn’t always known for insanely strict hiring procedures when it comes to its faculty and its dean. John Oliver’s Ian Duncan is no pillar of morals, nor was Dr. Marshall Kane, played by Michael K. Williams. Hell, Jeff teaches law there, so there’s no telling what Elroy and Frankie will be like.

Keith David, who broke into Hollywood with John Carpenter’s classic The Thing, is no stranger to TV, having starred in series like the underrated comedy The Job, The Cape, and most recently the cancelled Fox comedy Enlisted, which looked like it might get picked up by Yahoo for a short amount of time. His super deep voice can be recognized from recent voice roles in Free Birds and Adventure Time (as the Flame King); he also narrated the super-successful miniseries The Bible. He’s set to appear in a couple of episodes of the DirecTV comedy Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight. While David is awesome in dramatic roles like his creep-tastic turn in Requiem for a Dream, I like that he flexes his comedic chops often.

Paget Brewster spent many seasons as Emily Prentiss on CBS’ Criminal Minds, but her stint in drama shouldn’t fool you as to what kind of projects she gets into most often. She’s voiced characters on Harvey Birdman and American Dad, starred in offbeat series like Huff and Andy Richter Controls the Universe, and she most recently appeared on episodes of Drunk History and Key and Peele. Her next project is Oliver Thompson’s intriguing comedic drama Welcome to Happiness. Greendale will be lucky to have her.

Community is set to make its Yahoo debut in 2015.

If you see Cuba Gooding Jr., Michael Madsen and Keith David on a cast listing, you’d be perfectly within your right as an entertainment fan to assume the project was a straight-to-DVD thriller about a murderous husband. But that’s not the case here at all, as the three actors have all signed on for recurring roles on the upcoming Comedy Central series Big Time in Hollywood, FL, which is coming to TV through Ben Stiller’s Red Hour and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Written by actor Alex Anfanger (Burning Love) and his Next Time on Lonny director Dan Schimpf, Big Time in Hollywood, FL stars Anfanger and Lenny Jacobson (Nurse Jackie) as Jack and Ben, two filmmaker-wannabe brothers who get kicked out of their parents’ house and must then figure out how to make it on their own in the outside world. I’m guessing they’re going to try to make movies about their trials and tribulations. Kathy Baker (Picket Fences) and Stephen Tobolowsky (Californication) play the brothers’ parents Diana and Alan, respectively.

It takes a certain kind of celebrity to pull off playing a heightened version of his- or herself on a comedy series, but it seems like a skill centered squarely in Gooding Jr.’s acting wheelhouse. (Find your inner Rod Tidwell, Cuba!) The Oscar-winning actor will play himself for six of Big Time’s ten episodes.

David, meanwhile, will also star in six episodes, but as a federal agent sent to Hollywood, Florida to investigate Cartel activity. I love when David gets involved with comedy, as he’s much funnier than his intimidating presence might convey. He’ll never utter a line funnier to me than his Requiem for a Dream line when he tells Jennifer Connelly’s character, “I know it’s pretty, baby, but I didn’t take it out for air.” I guess that isn't a comedy though.

And then there’s Mr. Blonde, Michael Madsen, who will appear in four episodes. Deadline describes his character exactly as you’d expect him to be. He’s a “grizzled, alcoholic private detective hired by the family to track their sons’ criminal activity.” Given David’s character will be around for six episodes, it seems likely that Jack and Ben’s illegal dealings involve Cartel figures in some way.

Gooding Jr. has seen something of a career resurgence, with recent roles in Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Don Jon and Machete Kills. He’s currently filming Ava DuVernay’s historical drama Selma. David, whose Fox series Enlisted was unfairly cancelled, voices the Flame King on Adventure Time and he’ll be playing Don King in Jesse Vaughan’s upcoming boxing drama The Last Punch. Madsen, who’s in about 300 films a year it seems, voiced the heinous Carver for Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Game and is set for a role in Quentin Tarentino’s The Hateful Eight.

Big Time in Hollywood, FL is currently filming and will hit Comedy Central in 2015.

Everybody is getting in on the scripted programming game – we’re still waiting on you, The Weather Channel – and DirecTV is bursting out of the gate with the Audience Network’s first series, the comedy Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight, and it now has a full cast to go along with it. Listing the entire bunch right away would be anti-climactic, so let’s just dive into where the series is going, and who everyone will be playing.

Based on the popular play of the same name from Tony winner Peter Ackerman, Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight will focus on several different relationships, and the 10-episode season will take place entirely during one night, in the hours between dusk and dawn. If you’re of the mindset that nothing good can happen late at night, this may be the series for you.

THR has a full breakdown of the first episode, which starts off with a Jewish professor named Ben (Broad City’s Stephen Schneider), whose girlfriend Nancy (Young Adult’s Collette Wolfe) makes a racially insensitive comment while the two are getting rowdy in his office. Then we have 19-year-old college sophomores Leo (Enlisted’s Parker Young) and Phil (Silicon Valley’s Jimmy Ouyang), who are trying to prank their dean (Enlisted’s Keith David), but are stopped by a security guard named Dawn (Reno 911’s Kerri Kenney).

Therapist Mark (American Pie’s Eddie Kaye Thomas) is having a late night session with Grace (See Dad Run’s Alanna Ubach), whom Mark wants to set up on a blind date with his brother. Speaking of therapy, Donald (Midnight in Paris’ Kurt Fuller) and the jealously suspicious Estelle (Insidious’ Lin Shaye) find their 40 years of marriage are crumbling and in need of professional help. And finally, we have brothers Pedro 1 (NCIS: Los Angeles’ Jorge-Luis Pallo) and Pedro 2 (Boardwalk Empire’s Ivo Nandi), who are hired by Donald to count and stack rolls of carpeting, but soon find themselves the target of a hit man named Clean Gene (The Killing’s Hugh Dillon).

Apparently Thomas and Fuller are the only ones listed who aren’t officially series regulars, so it’s unclear just how much we’ll be seeing them. (Honestly, who would expect a therapy session to last all night anyway?) Otherwise, this sounds like a great squad. I’ll watch anything with the smooth-talking Keith David and Kerri Kenney, so I’m definitely on board for this. I also like the somewhat limited scope of the storytelling, as keeping everything happening in one night should help to rein things in. Not that 24 ever reined things in.

Production is currently underway for Things You Shouldn’t Say Past Midnight, which is executive produced by Ackerman and Nick Hamm (Rogue, Killing Bono). Expect to find the show hitting the Audience Network at some point later this year.

Ready to feel old? When he first showed up on the scene, Bow Wow was a 13 years old. Now he's 23. Damn.

We've gotten our hands on a new featurette for his newest film Lottery Ticket, in which he stars alongside Ice Cube, Brandon T. Jackson, Keith David, Charlie Murphy, Loretta Devine and Terry Crews. In the film, Bow Wow plays Kevin Carson, a kid who has just discovered that he has won the nationwide lottery. The only problem is that it's the Fourth of July weekend and he can't collect until its over. Living in the projects, a lot of people see the prize as their ticket out of poverty. So what does this mean? He gets his ass kicked - a lot.

Today BioWare announced the voice acting cast for Mass Effect 2. The numerous TV/film actors lending their voice include Martin Sheen, Michael Dorn, and Tricia Helfer.

In the process of announcing the actors and their roles, the press release gives a few hints as to the game's storyline:

Previous trailers showed the Normandy getting blown up. Nice to hear that we'll be getting a replacement with a sexy automated voice, though.

During the Disney Animation panel at Comic Con, I had the pleasure of seeing a complete musical number from the upcoming The Princess and the Frog, the showstopper from the villainous Dr. Facilier called "Friends on the Other Side." In write-up I described it as a cross between "Never Had A Friend Like Me" from Aladdin and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid, an expression of villainous intentions with nice visuals as an added bonus.

Now everyone can get a brief look at the number, as well as a glimpse of voice actor Keith David at work, in a new featurette posted by CartoonBrew.com. There are interviews with David and supervising animator Bruce Smith, talking about how they incorporated David's movements into the character and established him as pure evil.
