Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall took the world by storm when Sex and the City first hit in 1998. The ensemble quickly proved to audiences that they were a fearless series set in NYC that consisted of three-dimensional women fueled by friendships, dating forays and individualistic personal pursuits. But before the show became a pop culture staple, Cattrall had her doubts and reportedly didn’t sign on until her fourth offer.

Let’s rewind the clock before we begin. Specifically, before And Just Like That was on our 2025 TV guide, the discourse of the now imagined reboot, the Cattrall-Parker feud vibes and the full SATC franchise. The Mannequin actress shared with The Times why it took four asks before she said yes to Samantha Jones, and it has to do with her viewers’ (and her) thoughts about her age. In her words:

Thank goodness the ageist expectations shifted, because I’m not sure anyone else could’ve played Jones like Cattrall did. He thoughts behind it aren't wrong; the decade experienced a lot of social changes, especially in Hollywood, and moving into new ground, past cookie-cutter character checklists, was a great feat.

The other side of that coin for the Fabulous actress was showcasing the wild amount of rendez-vous' Jones found herself in, which was edgy for the time regardless of age. I’m just so glad things were changing then, the Samantha actress said yes and made the boldest of the pals all her own.

As we all know, following the four besties’ lives proved to be one of the biggest hits and best romantic comedy shows (which remains true to this day). Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha were blended seamlessly together to navigate all things love as working professionals, and equally relevant characters. It’s why they have six seasons to their name and three movies and fans continue to want more.

While you can watch the OG franchise with a Max subscription, the megastreamer also took on the reboot, And Just Like That… But, obviously, Cattrall called it quits before the HBO original series, and the fans’ reactions to no more Samantha Jones say it all about her and the PR exec’s legacy. Though we were quickly teased with Cattrall's brief return to AJLT during the season 2 finale, and some of us couldn’t help but wonder if she would return again (it’s seemingly a no).

And just like that, we all know the story of why Kim Cattrall paused a few times before saying yes to Ms. Samantha Jones and Sex and the City.

Many were shocked to learn about the death of Michelle Trachtenberg. The beloved actress, who made a name for herself on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, died at the age of 39, and many of her co-stars and colleagues were quick to post tributes. This includes stars like David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan, Kenan Thompson, Ed Westwick and more who worked with the actress as she grew up on screen.

Many from The Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast posted about their love for Trachtenberg. Playing Dawn Summers, the performer appeared in 66 episodes of the classic series, and to this day, it’s one of the roles she’s best known for. Her co-star and Angel actor, David Boreanaz, took to his IG stories to post a tribute for her, writing:

Buffy's Willow actress, Alyson Hannigan, also used her Instagram to post about her love for the late actress. Uploading some throwback pictures from their time on the series (which you can watch with a Hulu subscription), she also wrote:

Spike actor James Marsters also wrote a heartfelt message about his Buffy co-star on his IG. Posting a close-up selfie of him with Trachtenberg, he reflected on the actress's life and the time he spent with her, noting that “she died much too young.”

If you’re like me, one of the shows you might know Trachtenberg best from is Gossip Girl. In the 2000s, she played the evil legend Georgina Sparks in the Gossip Girl cast and appeared in 28 episodes. So, to honor her legacy as well as his work with her on The CW show, Chuck Bass actor Ed Westwick took to his IG Story to write:

Many other stars from projects Trachtenberg worked on posted their condolences, too. This included Kim Cattrall, who played the actress’s skating coach in Ice Princess (which you can watch with a Disney+ subscription). As someone who grew up on this movie, this tribute made me very emotional, as Cattrall wrote the following on Instagram alongside a photo from the film:

Michelle Trachtenberg was one of many child stars who grew up on Nickelodeon, and while there, she worked alongside Kenan Thompson. Posting a video from those days and an image of them standing together, the Saturday Night Live star wrote on Instagram:

During her early career, the late actress also starred in Harriet the Spy as the titular spy. In a statement to Poeple, her on-screen mom, J. Smith-Cameron, shared some of her memories from working on that film with her as well as her shock about this news:

Melissa Joan Hart also posted about working with Trachtenberg when she was very young. The two performed together on Clarissa Explains It All, and Hart had nothing but fantastic things to say about the actress’s talent that had been clear as day from a very young age:

Overall, the love being shown for the actress is immense, and it’s truly tragic that she died at such a young age.

When a popular show is getting ready to go into production there are always going to be rumors about just what the future holds for popular characters. Those rumors often turn out to be true, but sometimes they do not. It’s impossible to know for sure just what’s going on and things are getting even more confusing for ...And Just Like That Season 3 as one star is denying a return to the show amidst a series of intentionally misleading filming notices. 

Kim Cattrall’s cameo in Season 2 of ...And Just Like That was a big deal considering her very well-known feud with Sarah Jessica Parker. But considering she did reprise her Sex and the City role, fans with a Max subscription have wondered if she may return for Season 3 as well. And while she has an answer, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to know what’s real. 

Kim Cattrall Denies Returning To ...And Just Like That

Fans of Kim Cattrall’s Samantha may have gotten very excited recently thanks to an article in Elle that claimed that a return for the character was all but a done deal for ...And Just Like That Season 3. Unfortunately, those fans may be disappointed as Cattrall herself responded to somebody posting the article on social media to specifically state that she won’t be appearing.

While it wouldn’t be entirely outside the realm of possibility that Kim Cattrall could just be denying an appearance even if she actually was going to be on the show, some actors just lie about appearances, it would seem this should put the rumor to bed. Still, the rumor that Cattrall would return is the least bizarre thing being said about ...And Just Like That right now. 

Fake Filming Notices For ...And Just Like That Are Popping Up In New York City 

If Kim Cattrall isn’t in the new season of ...And Just Like That, that’s fine, but what will be part of the season is still a big question. But if you happen to be in New York City, you can’t trust any filming notices you see. Some prankster has apparently papered the city with a collection of fake filming notices for ...And Just Like That, and other shows as well, with some bizarre details for the scenes allegedly being shot. One of them reads…

I mean, I can’t say I’m not a little disappointed this isn’t real, as I would love to watch an episode of TV where this happens. Honestly, if Jim Carrey wants to come out of retirement and film a comedy series where various TV characters hire his Liar, Liar character, I think we might have a hit on our hands. 

But there are other hilarious filming notices out there. One claims that Carrie will reveal to her friends that she is, in fact, Garfield the cat (I always suspected) while another claims that Mr. Bean is set to appear on the show…

At this point, nobody seems to know anything bout who is doing this or why. Unless these all turn out to be real? Man next season is going to get wild.  

The Sex and the City franchise is one that means a great deal to its generations of fans, including both TV shows and the two movies. The fandom recently celebrated as Season 2 of And Just Like That began airing on Max, which was formerly known as HBO Max. The dramedy's sophomore season is a few episodes in, although we know that Samantha Jones actress Kim Cattrall will be back for a cameo sometime during this new season. And Cynthia Nixon has revealed her “worry” about that upcoming cameo. 

Samantha was noticeably absent throughout the first season of And Just Like That, but her fallout with Carrie made for a compelling story. It was leaked that Cattrall would have a cameo in AJLT, although the details are still a mystery. Cynthia Nixon recently spoke to The Times about that upcoming appearance, and the concerns she has about the discourse surrounding the spinoff. As she put it,

Points were made. Perhaps the biggest point of conversation surrounding And Just Like That Season 2 is about Kim Cattrall’s cameo as Samantha, with even Sarah Jessica Parker sharing her excitement despite any personal issues that exist. Still, Nixon wants fans to adjust their expectations because it’s a rather small role. Although Cattrall was once again styled by Patricia Field for the occasion.

Much like her practical character Miranda Hobbes, it looks like Cynthia Nixon is being logical about what’s still to come in AJLT. While she’s likely excited for Samantha’s inclusion, she doesn’t want the fans to put too much stock in that upcoming sequence. After all, it’s a cameo not a bonafide role in the Sex and the City spin off. Still, there’s likely going to be discourse surrounding Season 2 until Sam finally shows up.

The news that Cattrall would briefly appear in And Just Like That was a shock for both the fans of the show and those who have been following the drama between her and the SATC cast/creatives. Prior to the spinoff’s inception, a third Sex and the City movie was in development. But Cattrall didn’t want to play Sam again, which seemingly killed the project.

Back in 2018 Kim Cattrall called out Sarah Jessica Parker online following the death of her brother, claiming the Carrie Bradshaw actress and her were never actually friends. Combined with the third movie being scrapped, tensions felt sky high. So when AJLT was announced, it was a surprise to no one that the fan favorite character wasn’t included.

When it was announced that a Sex and the City revival would be made, fans were somewhat disappointed that Kim Cattrall would not be returning as Samantha. Many subsequently wondered if the character would ever make a comeback, especially due to Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker's alleged feud, which others have weighed in on. However, it was recently revealed that Cattrall would actually cameo in the second season of And Just Like That…, but now SJP is opening up about the fact that it wasn’t supposed to be public knowledge. And she's not all that happy about the secret getting leaked early.

The currently airing show, which filming wrapped on it second season back in April, it only a few episodes into its run and is set to air its finale in August. So it would've been easy to assume that the creative team wasn't looking for the plot point to be divulged right now. While appearing on Andy Cohen’s radio show, Radio Andy, Sarah Jessica Parker admitted she was "upset" that Kim Cattrall’s cameo got out and provided a few reasons for her displeasure:

It definitely would've been nice to watch the series and be surprised with Samantha Jones’ brief return, but leaks do happen quite frequently these days. One can understand Sarah Jessica Parker’s feelings about the moment being divulged so soon. As she said, it would've been a fun twist during the season, and viewers would've had not pre-conceived expectations about it.

In January 2021, it was confirmed that Kim Cattrall wouldn’t be in the Sex and the City revival, and original author Candace Bushnell even understood Cattrall’s reasoning for not being in the series. Apparently, the actress conveyed her desire to move on from Samantha. Now that the How I Met Your Father cast member is making her highly-anticipated return though, even Sarah Jessica Parker was excited. That personal investment is surely another reason for her being disappointed with the spoiler getting out.

As of now, Max has yet to renew And Just Like That… for a third season but, if the streamer does give it more episodes, Samantha likely won't return. Kim Cattrall recently told TODAY that the cameo is “as far as” she’ll go, but fans will surely hope that she'll reprise the role again. It’s been 13 years since Sex and the City 2, and a full-on reunion with Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbs would be great.

It has definitely been a long time since Kim Cattrall met up with her Sex and the City co-stars, and Sarah Jessica Parker is not the only one who is excited about it. While there were rumors that the two were feuding, SJP previously denied that she was in a catfight with Cattrall, and it seems like that statement rings true today. 

It’s definitely exciting that Samantha will be reuniting with Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda in some way, especially after all this time. It was unknown if Cattrall would ever appear in the Sex and the City revival, and honestly, it felt odd without her there. However, now the crew will be together again (even if it's just for a short time), and we can't wait for the reunion.

Filming wrapped on And Just Like That… Season 2 in April, and the premiere is scheduled for June 22. As of now, there’s no information on when Cattrall’s cameo will happen or the capacity of it, so fans will just have to tune in to see her little comeback. Hopefully, this cameo will lead to more appearances from the Samantha actress if the series gets renewed for Season 3, but that's just a dream for now. 

Just recently, Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell reacted to Kim Cattrall’s return, saying she was both happy and surprised, admitting that “there was a piece missing” when it came to the revival. Prior to the series premiering, Bushnell also shared her thoughts on Cattrall’s absence, understanding that she wanted to do more than just be Samantha Jones. While And Just Like That… has definitely worked with Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda, now the group of friends will be whole again with Samantha returning, even though it will just be a cameo.

Nostalgia has been a powerful force in the entertainment industry for years now, and plenty of beloved IPs have returned to the small and silver screens. While a third Sex and the City movie was scrapped, those beloved characters eventually came back to TV with And Just Like That, which is available with a Max subscription. You can now watch And Just Like That Season 2, and fans were thrilled to learn that Kim Cattrall would cameo as fan favorite Samantha Jones. And the SATC creator recently reacted to the news about Katrall’s return for the spinoff.

Sex and The City started as a book by Candace Bushnell, before being adapted for television and eventually two movies. She obviously knows the characters well, so the public was eager to learn her reaction about Samantha’s forthcoming appearance in And Just Like That. After all, Bushnell previously shared her feelings about Cattrall skipping out of the spinoff. She was asked by Page Six about the latest shakeup, saying:

Same, though. While I enjoyed And Just Like That and it was ultimately a different show from its predecessor (hence the new name), I was holding out hope that we would see Sam appear eventually. Luckily it’s happening via an upcoming cameo, which is sure to break the internet once it airs on Max for the first time.

Given the drama between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, having Kim Cattrall join And Just Like That for any serious length of time seems unlikely. Besides, she’s kept busy with other TV projects like How I Met Your Father, the Queer as Folk reboot, and Glamorous. Later in her same comments to Page Six, Candace Bushnell further explained her excitement about seeing Samantha Jones again, sharing:

While Kim Catrall’s absence in And Just Like That’s first season was noticeable, I actually really liked the way the show handled it. Carrie and Samantha had a falling out off camera, and there was an ongoing plot line of the two slowly getting back into contact. Plus the moment where Sam’s flowers arrived at Big’s funeral was a big emotional payoff for that early episode.

And Just Like That brought back three of the original stars of Sex and the City, while also bringing in a number of new and exciting characters to the friend group. And now that the introductions on ladies like Seema and LTW have been made, I want to see more from them. And of course, the always meme-able Che Diaz, played by the great Sara Ramirez.

How I Met Your Father has officially been renewed for Season 2 on Hulu, and the cast members just can’t contain their excitement. Hilary Duff and her co-stars took to social media to celebrate the announcement that the relationship calamities aren't over yet. They shared a sweet photo of the cast, with Duff clearly looking forward to continuing Sophie’s love story.

The spinoff of the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother premiered on Hulu in January, telling the story of Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her close-knit friends in the year 2022, as they figure out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and seemingly limitless options. And all with Kim Cattrall playing the older and settled Sophie, who is narrating from the future. Check out Duff’s post below:

Christopher Lowell plays Jesse Walker, an aspiring musician who became an Internet meme after a very public failed marriage proposal to Meredith (Leighton Meester). Francia Raisa is Valentina, Sophie's best friend and roommate. 

Tien Tran, who plays Jesse's adopted sister Ellen Gilbert, shared the same photo as her co-stars on her page, but added her own embellishments to show her enthusiasm about continuing to work with the "cuties." 

The series has continued to expand its universe in Season 1, with Paget Brewster recently making her debut as Sophie’s mother, Lori. Lori paid her daughter an unexpected visit in the February 8 episode, and viewers got a peek into Sophie's past and how moving around so much as a child affected her. While Lori and her "party girl" reputation aren't expected to make any more appearances in Season 1, the renewal for Season 2 opens up the opportunity to further explore her and Sophie's complicated relationship.

Kim Cattrall's role as future Sophie narrating her younger days is a continuation of the storytelling style introduced in the series' predecessor, How I Met Your Mother. On the CBS sitcom, Josh Radnor played Ted Mosby, with Bob Saget providing the voice of older Ted as the narrator. Kids, in the early years of the 21st Century, the How I Met Your Mother cast became one of the most beloved sitcom ensembles of its generation. Thus, I am sure the How I Met Your Father cast are aware they have some legen- wait for it… DARILY big shoes to fill with their spiritual sequel series on Hulu. 

Developed by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and executive produced by original HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, How I Met Your Father has a similar plot to its long-running, CBS original predecessor, but from the point of view of a woman telling her children her own love story, which largely consists of her and her friends’ many adventurous anecdotes while living in New York. I promise that we will not take too long explaining the How I Met Your Mother spin-off’s new characters and where you might recognize the actors who play them, starting with our lead protagonist.

Hilary Duff (Sophie)

While How I Met Your Mother was the story of how Josh Radnor’s Ted Mosby met his wife, How I Met Your Father is the story of how Hilary Duff’s Sophie met her husband. This is the actress and singer’s first leading role on a TV comedy since she played the title character of Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, which spawned a theatrical movie in 2003 and almost spawned a Disney+ revival in 2020.

Before becoming a Disney star, Duff debuted as a young witch in 1998’s Casper Meets Wendy and eventually starred in movies like Cheaper By the Dozen in 2003 or 2005’s A Cinderella Story before offers for more mature films like 2008’s War, Inc. or the more recent (and more controversial) The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019. How I Met Your Father is also her first major follow-up to her role on the Younger cast, after the TV Land original had its final season on Paramount+ in 2021.

Francia Raisa (Valentina)

As Valentina, Sophie’s best friend and roommate (or, the Marshall Eriksen to her Ted, essentially) on How I Met Your Father, we have Francia Raisa, whose last experience as a series regular on a spin-off was on Freeform’s Grown-ish as a college student named Ana Torres. This was years after she broke out as a high school student named Adrian Lee on The Secret Life of the American Teenager when the network was still called ABC Family. 

In 2005, Francia Raisa made her debut on FX’s Iraq War-inspired drama Over There, followed by two cheerleader comedies (straight-to-video Bring It On: All or Nothing in 2006 and 2009’s Fired Up!), two made-for-TV The Cutting Edge sequels, and guest spots on hits like CSI on CBS, Season 1 of The Mindy Project, and Netflix’s Dear White People series in a recurring role. In 2018, Raisa also co-starred with Tyra Banks in Freeform’s sequel to Life-Size - a Wonderful World of Disney installment from 2000 that originally starred Lindsay Lohan. 

Christopher Lowell (Jesse)

Playing Sophie’s friend and aspiring musician, Jesse, on How I Met Your Father is Christopher Lowell, whose first experience as a series regular on a spin-off was on Private Practice as Dell Parker - a role he originated on the medical drama’s predecessor, Grey’s Anatomy. His first TV show (and first-ever acting gig) was ABC’s teen drama Life As We Know It from 2004 to 2005 before joining the Veronica Mars cast as “Piz” in 2006.

In 2014, Christopher Lowell starred on Fox’s short-lived military comedy series Enlisted and, two years later, played Nick Nolte’s onscreen son on Epix’s political satire Graves before getting cast on Netflix’s GLOW as Bash Howard. Lowell, who made his directorial debut with the 2013 dramedy Beside Still Waters, has also appeared in several Oscar darlings - namely Up in the Air in 2009, The Help in 2011, and Promising Young Woman as the infamous Al Monroe in 2020 - and is currently filming an adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s horror-comedy novel My Best Friend’s Exorcism.

Suraj Sharma (Sid)

Playing Jesse’s roommate, Sid, on How I Met Your Father is Suraj Sharma, who made a stunning acting debut as the title hero of director Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning survival drama Life of Pi in 2012. His second film -  the biographical, Jon Hamm-led sports movie Million Dollar Arm - came out in 2014, the same year he joined Showtime’s Homeland cast as Aayan Ibrahim until 2015, which saw him the lead the international drama Umrika.

In 2016, Suraj Sharma starred in Burn Your Maps with Jacob Tremblay, followed by a few films set in his native country of India (such as the fantasy-comedy Phillauri, to name one) and American thrillers like Happy Death Day 2U from Blumhouse or Killerman with Liam Hemsworth in 2019. By then, Sharma had already been cast on ABC’s faith-based drama God Friended Me. His upcoming romantic-comedy movie Wedding Season (also starring former Schitt’s Creek cast member Rizwan Manji) is expected to come out in 2022.

Tien Tran (Ellen)

Playing Jesse’s adoptive sister, Ellen, on How I Met Your Father is Tien Tran, whose last experience starring in a spin-off (or sorts) was when she appeared on 2021’s Candyman cast in a brief role. She previously made a guest appearance on Netflix’s Easy in 2017, the same year she landed a recurring role on another web-based romantic-comedy series called Hot Date.

Tien Tran would work with Netflix again as a guest on the satirical comedy Space Force in 2020 and a guest voice actor on the animated, LGBTQ+-themed espionage adventure series Q-Force in 2021. Around that same time, she guest starred on Work in Progress - an LGBTQ+-themed Showtime original comedy she also wrote for - and on South Side for its second season after making the transition from Comedy Central to HBO Max.

Tom Ainsley (Charlie)

As Charlie, a model from England who also happens to be in love with Valentina, we have Tom Ainsley - an actor from England who debuted as a guest star on the country’s long-running, aptly-titled medical drama, Doctors, in 2014. The following year, he became better known to the American mainstream when he scored a recurring role on the E! original series The Royals as one third of an awkward love triangle for four episodes.

Also in 2015, Tom Ainsley had a recurring role on another series about royalty (this time a period piece called Versailles) before starring in a straight-to-video Jarhead sequel in 2016. The next year, he and Sarah Dumont played a husband and wife trapped in a tent with a snake in Serpent and he also led the cast of the war epic/horror movie hybrid Boots on the Ground. His most recent role before joining the How I Met Your Father cast is a romantic drama/horror movie hybrid called Safe Inside, which was released in 2019.

Kim Cattrall (Future Sophie)

The narrator of How I Met Your Mother was the late Bob Saget as the voice of Ted’s older self in the future. The narrator of How I Met Your Father as Sophie’s older self in the future is Kim Cattrall, who is best known for her five-time Emmy nominated role on the Sex and the City cast as the scene-stealing Samantha Jones, whom she reprised in two theatrically released spin-offs.

Before then, Kim Cattrall had a steady run of TV guest appearance in the late 1970s and early 1980s before achieving big screen stardom in comedies like Porky’s, the first of the many Police Academy movies, or the title role of Mannequin and fantasy thrillers like Big Trouble in Little China with Kurt Russell or Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, to name a few. In more recent years, Cattrall has reestablished herself as TV royalty on series like the quasi-anthology Tell Me a Story and Fox’s short-lived primetime soap Filthy Rich as the lead.

With an ensemble this talented, we should have no problem falling in with the How I Met Your Father cast just like we did with Ted, Robin, Barney, Marshall, and Lily. See for yourself by streaming the spin-off, which is now available to stream on Hulu.

The highly-anticipated How I Met Your Father — a sequel to the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother — is just about to drop on Hulu. Hilary Duff and Kim Cattrall star in the new sitcom, and critics have had the chance to screen a handful of episodes. How do they feel the follow-up series stands up to the original?

Kim Cattrall stars as Sophie, who is explaining to her unseen son how she met his father. Hilary Duff stars as younger Sophie, and viewers will be introduced to her friend group, which includes Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Suraj Sharma as Sid, who are trying to navigate young adulthood and find their places in the world. Let’s take a look at what critics are saying about How I Met Your Father. 

Gwen Ihnat of the AV Club grades the series a C-, lamenting that the sequel fails to capture the lightning in the bottle that made the original ensemble so special. However, she does note there are some nice nods to the OG series, including doppelganger gags. 

Siddhant Adlakha of IGN says with HIMYF using similar gimmicks to its predecessor — including the laugh track and multi-camera production — it’s hard to avoid comparisons to the CBS series, which is a high bar to meet. While it’s possible the long-term narrative will pay off, the first two episodes fall short. 

Caroline Framke of Variety says How I Met Your Father feels like another example of recycling nostalgia for today’s world, but it tries so hard that it doesn’t feel very modern (or very New York) at all. 

Darren Franich of EW also touches on the outdated feel of the jokes, grading the series a C-. He points out the lame unboxing joke and characters saying “FOMO” and worrying about the perfect profile pic. These reasons are part why HIMYF feels more like any number of dull sitcoms and less unique than HIMYM.

It’s not all meh or bad, though. Dave Nemetz of TV Line says the series starts to find its footing a few episodes in. Though he also notes that while HIMYM struck gold with its talented cast and sharp writing, the sequel (which he says should really be called a reboot) is lacking in the latter category.

Critics are definitely not raving about the first episodes of the new Hulu series, but it does sound like fans of the original series’ premise could get hooked by the long-term story, especially as the talented cast begins to gel. At last, Hulu has unveiled the first extended look at the upcoming spinoff comedy How I Met Your Father, with a full-length trailer that is full of cityscapes, cringe-addled first dates, people looking at their phones, and Hilary Duff in her latest TV lead role. Sounds like a winning enough combination, and this first trailer immediately sets itself apart from its How I Met Your Mother predecessor in an interesting way.

Anyone watching the trailer above will notice that it kicks off with Kim Cattrall as an older version of Sophie, the romance-seeking character played in her younger days by the aforementioned Hilary Duff. Fans already knew that Cattrall would serve as Future Sophie via voiceover narration, but the trailer seems to confirm that the Sex and the City alum will actually appear on the show in person, which was not so much the case for How I Met Your Mother. 

In the O.G. series, Full House vet Bob Saget lent his (uncredited) voice for narration duties as Ted Mosby, as portrayed by Josh Radnor throughout the show's nine seasons. In all that time, though, the series never put viewers up close and personal with Saget's version of Ted in 2030. So having Cattrall recur as the older and presumably wiser Sophie (in an unspecified "near future") is automatically a good start for making a distinction between the two projects.

The familiar hook here will see Kim Cattrall's Sophie telling her son (i.e. the audience) the complicated story about how she met the kid's father, with the new series kicking off in the year 2021. Duff's Sophie has a friend set that includes Veronica Mars vet Chris Lowell as Jesse, The Secret Life of the American Teenager's Francia Raisa as Valentina, The Royals' Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Candyman's Tien Tran as Ellen and God Friended Me's Suraj Sharma as Sid.

Fans can expect to see this squad trying to figure out what they want from life, while also navigating an ever-changing world of love and dating apps. (And uses of tissue.) As the trailer made it clear, those same fans can also expect to see recurring appearances from Josh Peck, whose Disney+ comedy Turner and Hooch was recently cancelled, and American Gods vet Ashley Reyes.

The trailer also features Sophie and date Ian, as played by David Makes Man vet Daniel Augustin. That character was originally meant to be portrayed by Sharma's God Friended Me co-star Brandon Michael Hall, who had to drop out of the new series due to scheduling conflicts.

While Sex and the City was famous for its unforgettable fashion and soapy drama, the on-screen friendships between the protagonists are what really cemented the series’ status as a must-see. As any fan knows, however, that rapport didn’t necessarily extend past the cameras. Stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall had reportedly been engaged in some sort of feud since the series ended in 2004. While viewers remain divided over it, there’s one Sex and the City star who staunchly supports SJP - and let’s just say, he’s kind of a ‘Big’ deal. 

Chris Noth recently sat down with The Guardian to chat about the upcoming reboot of the beloved HBO drama, titled And Just Like That, where he’s set to reprise his role as the dashing Mr. Big, whom Carrie Bradshaw married in the first follow-up feature film.  While Mr. Big was always supportive of Carrie, it should please fans to know that Chris Noth is just as much of a cheerleader for Sarah Jessica Parker IRL. When asked about the purported bad blood between SJP and Kim Cattrall, he stuck up for his longtime pal: 

A fairly diplomatic response, no? Despite his clear support for one actress, Chris Noth still avoided saying anything too negative about the other. We’d expect nothing less from the smooth-talking Mr. Big. While Noth was very careful to avoid disparaging Kim Cattrall, it’s clear that his onscreen affection for Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t just acting. And his defense of the Failure to Launch actress goes beyond this specific example: he also clearly had problems with the initial backlash against Parker after the drama first went public. He explained: 

While Kim Cattrall will not be returning for And Just Like That, fans can at least expect to see the evolving relationship between Carrie and Mr. Big. Some fans wondered if their marriage would hold up after the events of the second film (a critically disparaged venture that remained canon nonetheless). While it’s impossible to know for sure until the continuation quasi-reboot premieres, viewers can at least rest assured that Chris Noth will always have Sarah Jessica Parker’s back after the cameras stop rolling. Now check those two out in the HBO Max trailer below!

Sex and the City: And Just Like That will premiere on HBO Max on December 9. IF you need a refresher, the streaming service also features every episode of the original series.  

How I Met Your Father hasn't had the easiest time getting off the ground. There have been some setbacks up to this point but, now, there’s some positive news for viewers. While the series is already tied to the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, it's now gained a new connection to another classic comedy. Much like Ted Mosby, Hilary Duff’s character will have a future self, and a Sex and the City alum will be providing the voice.

Kim Cattrall has jumped onto the upcoming Hulu series as the older version of Hilary Duff’s Sophie, according to Deadline. Much like its predecessor, viewers won’t see the star but will get to hear her gorgeous pipe, as she recounts her younger counterpart's exploits. Cattrall will follow in the footsteps of Fuller House alum Bob Saget, who voiced the future Ted Mosby to Josh Radnor's younger iteration of the character on HIMYM.

This will mark the actress' first TV role since the cancellation of her Fox drama, Filthy Rich, in 2020. Maybe the addition of the Sex and the City vet should be a step in the right direction for the series. Early on, there were some signs of uncertainty, and some may have been concerned that it would be canned like Hilary Duff's Lizzie Maguire revival. Additionally, Duff caught COVID-19 right before production started, though she thankfully recovered. Not only that but a  key cast member left, leading to a recast. So the addition of the veteran star is some well-needed, good news for the show.

How I Met Your Father should serve as a fresh start for Kim Cattrall. It's been widely publicized that her Samantha Jones won't be popping up in the Sex and the City follow-up, And Just Like That. Of course, fans are surely disappointed by this, much like Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell is. But it isn’t necessarily surprising given the history between Cattrall and her former co-stars. She even gave a suggestion about how the show could handle her beloved character in her absence. All in all, Cattrall doesn't seem to be looking back.

How I Met Your Father is sure to be an interesting experiment. The show is definitely going to have to prove itself, though some franchise veterans are happy with the idea. On the other hand, with the revival series has been developed and dropped a few times, some fans of HIMYM might be more skeptical. Still, it appears Hulu has plenty of faith in the incoming comedy.

Having someone as celebrated as Sex and the City vet Kim Cattrall could bode well for the series. Though fans may not get to actually see her on screen, one can bet she'll put everything into the vocally-charged performance. The spinoff doesn't currently have a release date, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as updates arrive.

Beloved dramedy series Sex and the City is among the many shows these days getting a revival or reboot. The revival will follow Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda in their 50s. However, Kim Cattrall, who portrayed PR business woman Samantha Jones, will not be returning and Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell shared her feelings.

It was confirmed earlier this year via a new teaser for Sex and the City that Kim Cattrall would not be present in the sequel series. It wasn’t too surprising as the actress has openly stated before that she’s done playing Samantha. Author Candace Bushnell recently spoke to Deadline about the new series ahead of its December release. One topic was Cattrall’s absence and Bushnell is sharing how she really feels about it:

It doesn’t seem like there are any hard feelings between Kim Cattrall and Candace Bushnell. It’s obvious Cattrall wants to move on from Sex and the City and not be branded as being Samantha Jones when she’s done other projects. Even though she won’t show up in the first season, maybe Cattrall will change her mind and at least make a cameo in a future season if the And Just Like That... sequel series continues into Season 2 and beyond? Fans can hope, anyway.

Without Kim Cattrall, what will Sex and the City do about her character? Following Sex and the City 3’s fallout, Kim Cattrall suggested that while she’s loved playing Samantha, perhaps someone else can take up the role. Though it would be hard for someone to simply replace her as Samantha, actors have been replaced before. Still, leaving the door open for Cattrall to come back if she ever chooses to return would be the better direction to go, especially when the character is so iconic to one actress.

When filming began in New York for the Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That…, the city almost seemed empty without all the friends reunited since they were without Cattrall. It will be interesting to see how Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda navigate their lives without Samantha but I have no doubt it’s still going to be a captivating series. Fans should still be looking forward to it, as there’s likely going to be hints as to what Samantha is up to and why she isn’t with the others in NYC.

The 10-part Sex and the City revival, And Just Like That… is set to premiere sometime in December 2021 on HBO Max. Sex and the City actor Willie Garson was slated to appear in the revival, but passed away back in September, so it should be interesting to see if he makes one final appearance filmed prior to his death. Are you a Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte or Samantha? It’s a question that superseded astrology or Hogwarts House quizzes for some time when Sex and the City was on the air. Most of the famed characters at the center of the New York City-set series will soon be returning with an HBO Max revival. We have a first look at the show and the Samanthas of the world are already thinking of a fabulous, quick-witted line in protest.

HBO Max has shared a first look at the upcoming Sex and the City series titled And Just Like That… to announce production on the 10-episode series is underway. Check out present day Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte:

The excitement of Sex and the City coming back feels a bit overshadowed by the gaping hole left in our hearts knowing that the most outspoken and wonderfully chaotic member of the friend group will not be around to continue the story. As we've known for some time, Kim Cattrall is in fact sitting out the revival but with this picture it's really setting in that this sadly means we won’t be seeing what Samantha Jones is up to in her 50s.

Kim Cattrall has not spoken specifically to her absence in the upcoming Sex and the City series, but it’s long been rumored that she and Sarah Jessica Parker are not on good terms based on a number of public back and forths that happened between them. And back in 2019, Cattrall said the following about her thoughts about returning to the role:

Kim Cattrall has been over the role for a while, including with the actress turning down a role in the third Sex and the City movie which was later cancelled. Multiple times the actress has claimed that she and the other core cast were “never friends.” Sarah Jessica Parker responded to her claims by sharing she was “heartbroken” by her former co-star's comments.

We’d imagine And Just Like That… will need to address Samantha Jones’ absence somehow. The HBO Max series will follow Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda as they navigate their lives and friendship in their ‘50s and perhaps the women will have had their own falling out with Samantha years after we last caught up with them.

Carrie Bradshaw has not graced the streets of New York with her gals since 2010’s Sex and the City 2, which followed them venturing to Abu Dhabi with Samantha, who had an ex shooting a movie there. While it’s certainly odd to see the cast back without Kim Cattrall, it’s exciting to see Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda back and on set of the upcoming HBO Max revival on top of the network recently revisiting Gossip Girl.

When Sex and the City took to audiences' screens on HBO back in 1998, no one knew what a hit show they would have on their hands. But everyone found themselves tuning in weekly to watch the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw and the rest of her friends try to navigate their lives and relationships in New York City.

Sex and the City would go on to win multiple awards, including seven Emmys, and spawned off two movies, in 2008 and 2010 respectively. It lit up the world for its cast, making Sarah Jessica Parker a household name, and creating long-lasting careers for many others. Even now, more than a decade after it ended, the girls are coming out with a mini-series titled “And Just Like That…” where most of the main group are going to be reprising their roles. But what exactly has the cast of Sex and the City been up to since then? This is where they’ve been.

Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw)

The lead character in Sex and the City, Carrie was the whole reason the show even existed. Sarah Jessica Parker is the face behind the iconic-ness of this character, and she’s rightfully had much success after the ending.

While she did have some popular roles prior to Sex and the City, like Footloose, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, and Hocus Pocus, her career took off after Sex and the City. Afterward, Parker would go on to reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the two Sex and the City movies, while also having a main role in the holiday film, New Year’s Eve. Parker would also return to TV in 2012 to have a recurring role on Glee for three episodes, as well as the starring role in Divorce.

Parker has kept her hands busy in the fashion industry. She’s started in some ad campaigns and even started some of her own lines. She’s even coming out with her own ready-to-wear bridal collection. Even so, just because she’s doing that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have other stuff coming up, like Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+, and the Sex and the City limited series And Just Like That…

Kristin Davis (Charlotte York)

I always felt a personal connection to Charlotte because I too am a hopeless romantic, so I can definitely see where she’s coming from with that. Kristin Davis, who was behind the role of Charlotte for all six seasons of Sex and the City kept this certain charm about her, and I always genuinely enjoyed hearing about her loves in the city.

Davis went on to reprise her role in both Sex and the City movies and had multiple other roles in big-time movies as well, such as The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, The Shaggy Dog,and Deck the Halls. Davis also went on to have roles in the hit Jon Favreau movie, Couples Retreat, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

In the TV world, Kristin Davis also had a role in the Bad Teacher TV series, although it was canceled after one season. Davis has also stepped into the world of the theater a bit more, taking on roles in two productions titled The Best Man and Fatal Attraction. In terms of what she has coming up, Davis will be reprising her role as Charlotte York in the upcoming Sex and the City miniseries, so keep an eye out for that.

Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones)

As the oldest of the friend group, Samantha had plenty to show for her years of experience, and watching an older woman be sexually confident was something that genuinely was not seen that often back then. Kim Cattrall is the face behind that and showed that no matter how old you are, you can love your body and yourself just as much as you are when you’re younger.

Cattrall has had some success prior to the hit HBO show, like her roles in Big Trouble in Little China and Police Academy, but she has kept busy since the end of Sex and the City. She reprised her role in the two Sex and the City movies and had some film roles in Ice Princess and The Ghost Writer.

Kim Cattrall has had multiple appearances and roles on television shows. She had a voice role on Producing Parker and had a main role on both Sensitive Skin, Tell Me A Story, a CBS All Access original show, and the main role on Filthy Rich, but that as well was canceled after one season. Cattrall has also made herself busy with multiple roles in the theatre. She has had parts in The Cryptogram, Private Lives, Antony and Cleopatra, and The Sweet Bird of Youth, so she’s been putting her acting skills to good use on the stage.

Cattrall will however not be reprising her role in the upcoming Sex and the City limited series, so you’ll have to try and find her elsewhere for now.

Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes)

I think we’ve all been a Miranda at some point in our lives. A cynical take on the world and love in general. But hey, that’s life, right? And Cynthia Nixon did a great job of showing the hardships of what can come with relationships.

Nixon herself has been quite active since Sex and the City ended. Like her costars before her, she did reprise her role in the two spinoff movies but has had plenty of other film roles as well, such as Little Manhattan, Rampart, and A Quiet Passion (where she played Emily Dickenson). Nixon has also been involved with theatre work multiple times, having roles in Rabbit Hole, With, The Real Thing,and The Little Foxes, for which she won a Tony award for Rabbit Hole and The Little Foxes.

Cynthia Nixon also had multiple reoccurring roles on TV, in shows like Hannibal and Alpha House, but the big role that she was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for was playing Gwendolyn Briggs on Netflix’s Ratched.

Nixon will also be reprising her role in the upcoming limited series, however, so at least three of the four original girls will be back.

Chris Noth (Mr. Big, John James Preston)

Ah, the man with the Big personality, that everyone seemed to want but couldn’t have when the show came out. That was what Chris Noth brought to his character back then, having appeared in multiple episodes throughout the series as Carrie's on-and-off boyfriend, known throughout the show as Big. 

However, Noth has done plenty since Sex and the City ended to distinguish himself from his iconic character. He’s had some movie roles, notably in The Perfect Man and a voice role in From Up On Poppy Hill, but he’s mainly stuck to TV in recurring roles and main roles, one of his more prominent being on The Good Wife. Noth has also done some theatre work as well, like many of his co-stars above him. However, his more recent news is that he has taken on a main role in the new CBS show, The Equalizer, based on the movie of the same name.

It’s unconfirmed if he will be joining the Sex and the City limited series, but considering how the series ended, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was there.

David Eigenberg (Steven “Steve” Brady)

The man, the myth, the legend that manages to help change Miranda’s worldview of love and relationships, Steve was the person that every single viewer for the show thanked when he showed up because he gave Miranda a reason to smile about love. And honestly, he was one of the healthier relationships on the HBO series, and a big piece of the credit goes to David Eigenberg and his charming ways.

David Eigenburg also reprised his role in the Sex and the City movies, but he has mainly stayed close to the TV world, having multiple recurring roles on TV shows like Cold Case and Criminal Minds.

But his big role since Sex and the City was becoming Lieutenant Christopher Hermann on Chicago Fire, as well as appearing on the connected One Chicago TV shows, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. He does however have a comedy movie coming up titled Killing Eleanor, so look out to see him on the big screen soon.

Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch)

Outside of the three women, Carrie always had Stanford on her side. Willie Garson kept with this role throughout the whole entire series, and played a big part of the start of the second movie. 

Garson, however, has had several roles since the ending of Sex and the City. As mentioned, he reprised his role in Sex and the City 2 and had multiple other parts in movies like Little Manhattan (which was mentioned above), Walk of Shame, and Disney’s Magic Camp. While he’s had multiple recurring roles on many shows, he’s had some main roles on big shows like Whole Day Down, White Collar, and the hit sitcom Hot in Cleveland. He also tested the superhero waters, as he had a recurring role on Supergirl as Steve Lomeli.

In terms of what he has coming up, there is a TV series titled Duke of the Valley happening soon, and a movie titled Before I go, which are both in post-production, so surely Garson will be showing up on our platforms again quite soon.

John Corbett (Aidan Shaw)

I sort of think of Aidan as the in-betweener, considering he was there when Mr. Big wasn’t. Even so, John Corbett was great for the time that he was around on the show.

Corbett has been busy since Sex and the City. Before the series ended, he was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, for which he reprised his role for the sequel in 2016. He also reprised his SatC role in Sex and the City 2 and had several other film roles.

While he’s had some recurring parts on TV, like in Parenthood and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, his main role recently has been portraying Dr. Dan Covey in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series on Netflix, which just released its third film.

Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt)

I mean, the good ones always come after the bad, and that was what Harry was to Charlotte. However, Evan Handler, the man behind Charlotte’s second husband, has done some pretty awesome roles since the ending of Sex and the City.

One of his more famous roles after Sex and the City was his main role on the hit Showtime series, Californication. Handler has had some recurring roles as well, on shows like Lost and 24. Handler also portrayed American lawyer Alan Dershowitz in the hit crime show, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Handler has also stepped into the writing scene as well, authoring his own book about his battle with leukemia, and written for several magazines like ELLE and Mirabella.

Jason Lewis (Jerry “Smith” Jerrod)

And now, last on our list is Jerry, otherwise known as Smith, the final boyfriend of the series. While he wasn’t on the original series for super long, he still left an impression in our hearts, even if Jason Lewis was only there for Season 6.

Even so, Lewis has kept busy since his brief stint on Sex and the City. He’s had several guest appearances on big sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother, Charmed, and Beauty and the Baker, and has a main role on Midnight, Texas. Lewis also has a new movie in pre-production called Isolated Victim, with not much known about it. One of his more recent ventures, however, is that Jason Lewis actually has leaned towards politics, and has been active with showing support in his political views.

With the new limited series coming out, there's still plenty to watch with these famous stars. Where have you seen the Sex and the City cast before?

After ending its initial run on HBO back in 2004, Darren Star's beloved Sex and the City lived on in theatrical form for two features, though it never became a full trilogy as planned. Many thought The CW's Carrie Diaries prequel would be the final entry in the franchise, but HBO Max has confirmed that the previously rumored TV revival is definitely happening. Dubbed a "new chapter" that will go by the title And Just Like That..., the ten-episode limited series will feature returning SATC stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, but it's happening without Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones.

Considering how integral Kim Cattrall was to Sex and the City's appeal across its six seasons and beyond, the idea of following fifty-somethings Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda around without Samantha is not necessarily an ideal scenario. To be expected, the fan reaction online was all over the place after Sarah Jessica Parker dropped the strange teaser announcing the revival season. And just as expected, Cattrall's absence was a hot topic, and many people were. Not. Having. It.

The above tweet showcased the kind of confusion that many Sex and the City fans were feeling, not quite grasping why everyone involved would choose to return to the fictional universe without the entire core cast intact. Granted, Kim Cattrall has said for years now that she has no interest in returning to the screen as SATC's Samantha Jones, so it was already a given that she wasn't going to be involved. But instead of letting sleeping sexually active New York City women lie, executive producer Michael Patrick King roped in the other three stars for a new batch of Samantha-free episodes. And that's definitely a dealbreaker for some people.

With Samantha having played into many of Sex and the City's more salacious moments and relationships, one fan suggested another title for the limited series other than And Just Like That..., and it does at least start with the same word as the upcoming revival.

Rather than going into angry hysterics, some fans are emotional in a more tearful way. For instance, the fan below already seems to be mourning Kim Cattrall's absence from Sex and the City's streaming future.

Of course, there was definitely room for angry hysterics on Twitter, because Twitter without hysteria is like Sex and the City without Saman... Oh no. I see what I was about to do there.

On the flip side of that spectrum, fans also had jokes after Sex and the City's revival was announced. Several went with a reference to a very specific Christina Applegate network comedy. (No, not Married with Children.)

Frozen 2 may be a Disney project and not within the WarnerMedia library, but the person below joked about Josh Gad's Olaf being on the hunt for Kim Cattrall's Sex and the City character.

A few years ago, Kim Cattrall actually shared what she would want Sex and the City to do with Samantha if the franchise ever returned in some format, suggesting a more diverse recasting. And more than a few fans were eager to share their thoughts about how Samantha's absence should be explained in And Just Like That...

Now let's end things on a note that's both critical about Samantha's exclusion while still maintaining some positivity about what that change can mean.

At this time, Sex and the City's return for HBO Max doesn't yet have a release window planned, though production is reported to begin in New York in the spring. Reboots and revivals have become all the rage in bringing beloved series back to air — Will and Grace, Fuller House, and Charmed are among many shows that have been revived in some form or other in recent years, and it looks like Sex and the City may be following in their footsteps. After six seasons and two movies, the HBO series could be returning to television as opposed to a third feature. But will it be a reboot or a revival? Let’s dive in.

A new Sex and the City project might be in the works at HBO Max, only this time it would return as a limited series that will potentially only bring back three of the four main characters, leaving Kim Cattrall’s Samantha out of the reunion altogether. That wouldn’t be all that surprising, considering Cattrall's feelings toward co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. While it’s unclear at this stage who will return, the Page Six report revealed that the limited-episode project is set to be a "reboot." Meanwhile, other media outlets have reported on the subject while calling Sex and the City a "revival." So which is the truth?

If It’s A Revival…

A Sex and the City revival would be more ideal in this situation for obvious reasons. The terms reboot and revival have sometimes been used interchangeably, but there is a big difference when it comes to character-centric projects as opposed to plot-centric shows. If Carrie Bradshaw were to reunite with her gal pals in a current-day scenario, then a revival makes a lot more sense. Revivals simply serve as expansions of the original show, extending the time fans get to spend with familiar and beloved characters, while also developing more of the world they live in.

Fans would learn what the characters have been up to in the years since we last saw them in Sex and the City 2, and nothing about the show’s history would need to change. In this instance, even if Kim Cattrall didn’t want to reunite with her co-stars as Samantha Jones, a revival wouldn’t change everyone's onscreen friendships. Samantha could just be on a work trip or lounging on some beach in California offscreen.

If It’s A Reboot…

A full-on Sex and the City reboot would be more tricky. Reboots are more of an homage to the original series instead of an update of the characters played by the same actors. The CW’s Walker, for example, is a reboot of the original Walker, Texas Ranger, with changes being made to bring the series into the modern day. Without Kim Catrall returning for the limited series, the Sex and the City creative team could feasibly reboot the show as led by a female threesome, with the Samantha character getting written out, or perhaps being recast with another actress.

Personally, I'm definitely not on board with any of those changes, and would rather see a pure reboot pitch die on the vine before it ever hits the air, rather than having to watch a new Sex and the City series completely change the show’s canon. Considering that the rest of the cast, including Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, might also be returning despite Cattrall’s absence, points to the HBO Max series being a revival and not a reboot. However, only time will tell.

As of this writing, HBO Max representatives have still not confirmed Sex and the City’s return, but stay tuned to CinemaBlend for updates on this story and more TV news. Spoilers ahead for the series premiere of Kim Cattrall's Filthy Rich on Fox.

Filthy Rich launched as one of the earliest big broadcast TV premieres of the thinner-than-usual fall season, with Kim Cattrall playing what could be her wildest character since Samantha Jones on Sex and the City. That said, after watching the series premiere of the primetime soap, I find myself pondering the relationship between two of the siblings of the series after some of their scenes together, rather than Cattrall's Margaret Monreaux. Yes, we're one episode in, and I'm asking if a couple of them are already too close for comfort.

Margaret Monreaux (Kim Cattrall) finds her privileged life turned upside down when a plane crash that seemingly killed her husband Eugene (Gerald McRaney) brought his three secret illegitimate children out of the woodwork because he left them each 5% of his company in his will. Since the Monreaux family created a wildly successful Christian TV network, that 5% would have amounted to about $30 million each... if Margaret and her two kids were going to let it happen.

In the process of the three surprise kids meeting Margaret and her kids, there was one pair of siblings that crackled with a little bit too much chemistry to go unnoticed. Rose Monreaux (Aubrey Dollar) and Jason Conley (Mark L. Young) seemed to be looking at each other in ways that weren't entirely sibling-esque.

Admittedly, I originally thought I was just being paranoid due to my years of watching Game of Thrones and maybe I was reading too much into two actors who just happen to have chemistry, but then Jason went ahead and planted a kiss on Rose. To her credit, she looked more weirded out and uncomfortable than anything else, and Jason himself couldn't believe he did it, but... it happened.

At least they're seemingly only half-siblings who just met, I guess? Neither Rose nor Jason reacted to the kiss in a way that makes me think they'll be sneaking to each other's rooms in the family house by the second episode, but the episode also didn't end on any closure to the moment.

Since Filthy Rich is a family soap opera, I'm not going to just assume that a love connection won't happen, even if it is definitely not the norm for relatives in primetime. It does seem that Jason might not be Eugene's blood son after all, but since Rose thinks he's definitely her half-brother, I'm still counting the connection as too close for comfort!

And yes, this might be at least a little bit because of Game of Thrones. I spent years watching a show that started with twincest, followed a character who was literally the product of centuries of incest, and ended with a nephew killing his aunt/lover, with a few other instances of incest over the years for good measure.

Filthy Rich is no Game of Thrones, and we can be sure that Rose and Jason won't go as far as explicitly on Fox as Jaime and Cersei could on HBO if Filthy Rich goes in that direction, but... well, we can only wait and see. I wish I could rule it out, but there's no such thing as a plot too outlandish for a soap opera.

Rose and Jason's connection wasn't exactly the A plot of the premiere, even if it did stick out as the weirdest part of the whole episode in my book. Filthy Rich got off to a gloriously soapy start, complete with a reveal that Eugene didn't die in the plane crash into the Louisiana swamp after all, scandal, and so much drama between family members that I might need a Venn diagram to keep track of everything by the end of the season.

Melia Kreiling's Ginger Sweet is the star of the illegitimate kids, while Benjamin Levy Aguilar's Antonio Rivera tugged at the heartstrings with his adorable young son. Jason... had his eye on his presumed half-sister. Kim Cattrall is best known for her role as Samantha Jones on HBO's Sex and the City, although she has been making headlines lately more for her less-than-friendly back-and-forth with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. Now, Cattrall has landed a brand new role that could result in audiences seeing her in a brand new light. Cattrall is coming to CBS All Access to star in Kevin Williamson's dark freshman drama, called Tell Me a Story.

Tell Me a Story was first announced back in November as a project that will put dark twists on fairy tales not generally known for their darkness. Crafted by Kevin Williamson of The Vampire Diaries fame, the series is all but guaranteed to deliver something unlike anything else on television, and not just because Once Upon a Time has come to an end. The drama will be serialized and utilize bits and pieces of stories like Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Bigs, and Hansel and Gretel. In an interesting twist, the show will be set in present-day New York. The project scored a straight-to-series order last year, and the casting of Kim Cattrall (as reported by TVLine) promises to raise its profile significantly.

Even though Sex and the City has been off the air since 2004 (and the second feature film premiered way back in 2010), Cattrall is still a well-known actress who may bring the name recognition needed to launch a new genre series. CBS All Access' other two high-profile projects had name recognition going for them, as Star Trek: Discovery hails from the Star Trek franchise and The Good Fight is a spinoff of the popular CBS drama The Good Wife.

All of this said, Kim Cattrall's new character will be no Samantha Jones. Cattrall will play a woman by the name of Colleen, who is a nontraditional grandmother whose actions are rarely what one would expect. Her life will change significantly when her adult son moves back in with her along with his troubled teenage daughter Kayla. A sinister threat arises, requiring her to mature and do everything in her power to protect her family.

Kim Cattrall joins Billy Magnussen of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Get Shorty fame on Tell Me a Story. Magnussan will play a high school teacher who is surprisingly seductive, a quality which may be used to hide a dark side. A wolf in sheep's clothing, perhaps? Whatever his character, we can bet that his kind of seduction won't lead to the same kind of situations that Cattrall found herself in on Sex and the City. Star Trek: Discovery may be able to drop an F-bomb, but something tells me that's about as R-rated any CBS All Access series will get.

We'll have to wait and see. Tell Me a Story will be Kim Cattrall's first major role in the U.S. market since the end of Sex and the City in 2004, although she did land roles in the Canadian comedy Sensitive Skin and the Swedish psychological thriller called Modus. There are few things more juicy than a celebrity feud-- just ask FX and Ryan Murphy. Seeing two public figures come to blows is something that has long enthralled the public, and makes celebs more relatable and accessible. Recently TV and movie fans have watched as the drama unfolded over Sex and the City co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall. Cattrall's disinterest in returning as Samantha reportedly got the third SATC movie canned, and a feud was born. But now Parker has spoken up about the headlines, and maintains she's never had an issue with Cattrall. As Carrie herself tell it,

It looks like Sarah Jessica Parker is trying to distance herself from the growing narrative around she and Kim Cattrall. While the latter has openly attacked her former co-star on social media, Parker herself has kept pretty mum as the story continued to evolve.

While Sarah Jessica Parker hasn't attacked Kim Cattrall in the media, in some ways the story began with her. Parker revealed that there was a script ready for a third Sex and the City movie, but that the film didn't come to fruition without the full cast. In the wake of that announcement, other cast members like Willie Garson (aka Stanford) openly admonished Cattrall's decision, which also likely fueled the fire.

In her same conversation with Vulture, Sarah Jessica Parker also revealed how she doesn't want Kim Cattrall's decision to depart the franchise to take away from its legacy, saying:

While this spat won't stop the generations of Sex and the City fans from re-watching the show on syndication and through the first two movies, one has to wonder if the third film will ever get made. It just wouldn't be the same group without Samantha, so the producers and writers are going to have to go back to the drawing board in order to make a threequel happen.

In the world of pop culture, few things get more attention than a good old fashioned celebrity feud. Seeing celebs share their disdain for each other is actually refreshing, revealing a vulnerability that fans can relate to. They're so popular that Ryan Murphy's acclaimed anthology series Feud was built on the concept. One feud that's been gaining more and more attention over the past few months was the one between Kim Cattrall and her Sex and the City co-stars, especially Sarah Jessica Parker. Things have only intensified since Cattrall tragically lost her brother Christopher a few days ago. Apparently SJP reached out to Cattrall, which was the opposite of what the actress wanted. Cattrall wrote a scathing Instagram post about the situation, saying:

Wowza. The post, which accompanies an image saying "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time", really broke down any walls of privacy between the two actresses and the public. We know exactly how Kim Cattrall feels about Parker, and exactly why she's currently so pissed off at her onscreen BFF.

It Kim Cattrall's Instagram post is any indication, it seems that Sarah Jessica Parker may have sent Cattrall some type of message in the wake of her brother's death. But considering what shaky ground the two were already on, Cattrall found this insulting. The dueling divas had recently gone across multiple platforms to deliver jabs at each other, and now things have escalated.

The ongoing feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall caught the public's attention a few months ago. Plans were in motion for a third Sex and the City movie to be produced, with SJP and the other women having a script they seemed truly passionate about. But Kim Cattrall was not so excited, and decided to pass on the deal to reprise her role as Samantha Jones. Parker and other Sex and the City stars indicated how disappointed they were with this decision, with Cattrall having to come to her own defense. She simply didn't want to play the role any longer, and even suggested they simply recast the role for a potential film.

Kim Cattrall is no doubt grappling with the loss of her brother Christopher, so we can probably all give her pass for lashing out on social media. Although I'm not sure that Sarah Jessica Parker would feel the same.

Another day, another Sex and the City drama. The cast of HBO's successful dramedy (and its two movies) has been the center of some controversy over the past week, specifically actress Kim Cattrall. Because the news was recently broke that a third Sex and the City movie has fallen through, to the chagrin of stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis. And since then, various cast members have revealed that this was at least partly Cattrall's fault, as she apparently didn't want to be in the franchise anymore. But Cattrall has recently suggested a way that it can move forward: by re-casting the role of Samantha Jones.

This would certainly be a bold choice, but at least Kim Cattrall seems to be willing to hand over the helm of Samantha to another actress. The question is: could this ever really work?

Kim Cattrall's comments to EW are sure to both shock and excite moviegoers, depending on your specific opinion. While SATC fans would love another film, it wouldn't feel the same without Cattrall's characterization of Samantha. The entire point of both the Sex and the City series and its accompanying films is the friendship between the four protagonists, as well as their respective love lives. But if Cattrall was suddenly missing and replaced by another actress, I'm not sure if either the fans or a potential film studio would be interested.

But Kim Cattrall's idea about Samantha Jones being re-cast does go along with issues of visibility and inclusion in popular culture. While Sex and the City was an acclaimed show, it was seriously lacking in diversity. The franchise revolves around four straight privileged white women, and definitely could have used more diversity in its long tenure in pop culture. But suddenly retconning Samantha into a woman of color also has the potential to offend, especially since the actress would only get to play her for one movie. A POC Samantha should have been written as such, rather than used as a device to keep the franchise alive.

The drama revolving around Sex and the City 3 is showing no signs of slowing down. A few actors have already spoke up against Kim Cattrall's departure from the franchise, and Cattrall herself seems all to happy to defend herself publicly. But there's no such thing as bad publicity, so maybe this type of drama will actually give the film new life.

There are still a lot of fans out there who would be happy to see a third Sex and the City movie. Over the last few years, however, there have been conflicting reports regarding the possibility of Sex and the City 3, with actresses like Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have been gung ho about another movie, while other famous actors from the show, including Kim Cattrall and Chris Noth, have actively not wanted to be involved. After all of the back and forth, Sarah Jessica Parker revealed over the weekend that the movie is definitely dead in the water. In true Sex and the City fashion, the drama doesn't end there. Now, Kim Cattrall is taking her former co-star to task over the announcement, admonishing her for being pretty mean about the whole thing. According to what Cattrall told Piers Morgan this week,

Kim Cattrall believes she has a reason to be mad. The actress notes above that she has been vocal for a year that she doesn't want to do Sex and the City 3. No amount of cajoling was going to get her on board, and she believes Sarah Jessica Parker knew that before she felt the need to announce she was "disappointed." Therefore, SJP's big statement over the weekend about it being "heartbreaking" that a third movie wasn't going to happen not only felt disingenuous, Cattrall also feels it was just a direct middle finger pointed at her.

Sarah Jessica Parker's response to the official cancellation of the Sex and the City 3 project does not specifically call out Kim Cattrall. Instead, it focuses on the actress' disappointment that there is a script in place--a script she believes is good--and that even with the script the project isn't going to come to fruition. Once the statement broke, though, Kim Cattrall was cited as the culprit, and she's been defending herself ever since. Some rumors even said that Sex and the City 3 wasn't happening because Cattrall had asked for additional project deals with Warner Bros. that the studio didn't agree to. But Cattrall also said on Piers Morgan's Life Stories that she and SJP's issues extend further than this one movie, noting,

The two actresses have been rumored to be feuding for a long time. While Sarah Jessica Parker put those rumors to rest back in 2016, this latest round of back and forth seems to indicate there may be cracks in their relationship, at the very least. If there are issues, it's easy to see why Kim Cattrall wouldn't want to come back for Sex and the City 3. Plus, SJP has moved on to HBO's Divorce, so I guess all is well that ends in new roles.

The film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey has inspired its fair share of loud detractors. Some thought it was too raunchy, some didn’t think it was raunchy enough, and then there were other moviegoers who just thought that it was a tedious melodrama packed with hammy acting, and a weak plot that cynically exploited hollow sex appeal to generate hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. As it turns out, one of the film’s harshest critics is Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall, who has not only claimed not to not have interest in seeing the film, but has blamed that lack of interest on male lead Jamie Dornan.

The actress, whose Samantha character in the aforementioned beloved television series and films was particularly well-versed in the act of love-making, recently told the Independent that director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s recent adaptation of E.L. James’ hugely popular novels never appealed to her simply because of the Northern-Irish actor who was chosen to play the movie’s titular character. Cattrall explained,

At this point you may feel tempted to feel some sympathy for Jamie Dornan, but I wouldn’t be too concerned if I were him. This is because who Cattrall would choose to play the role of Christian Grey is far more out-of-left-field than any one of us could have guessed. If she’d been in control of casting Fifty Shades Of Grey, there would have been only one man that she would have deemed fit to portray Christian Grey: Mr. Brendan Gleeson.

Yep, you read that right, Brendan Gleeson. Not his 31-year-old, Star Wars: The Force Awakens starring son Domhnall Gleeson, but the 59-year-old who portrayed Mad Eye Moody in Harry Potter so seamlessly that only a handful of us probably noticed any discernible physical differences.

Now just imagine that man doing half of the stuff that Jamie Dornan did in Fifty Shades Of Grey. I’m going to stick my neck out and say that if Brendan Gleeson had been cast, then the erotic drama probably wouldn’t have matched the $528.8 million it currently has in the bank.

Still, I’m probably not the only one who is now practically hoping that the ongoing contract discussions between Jamie Dornan and the studio breakdown so that we can see Brendan Gleeson and Kim Cattrall takes their places for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. Just as a cinematic experiment. Then we’d be able to see them get up to stuff like this:

While I didn’t have any issue with how manly Jamie Dornan was in Fifty Shades Of Grey, I do have to admit that I found his portrayal, on the whole, rather limp, as he failed to bring Christian Grey to life in an intriguing or even competent fashion. He looked damn good on-screen though. Which, in the end, is all that really mattered.

After starring as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City for so many years, it’s easy to forget Kim Cattrall can play anything but strong, ambitious and beautiful. Well, her latest film, Meet Monica Velour, is certainly a good reminder that this actress has range and is willing to go to some pretty extreme lengths to do her roles justice.

Kim Cattrall is Monica Velour, a washed up porn star who can’t get decent work, is constantly berated by men and risks losing her child in a custody battle. Having hit rock bottom, Monica is absolutely hopeless. It isn’t until geeky teen and diehard fan, Tobe (Dustin Ingram), steps into her life that she realizes there is some good in this world and, with his help, she could possible pull through.

After a great deal of rehearsal time, filming, the post production process and then a festival run, Cattrall, Bearden and Ingram are finally about to see their movie hit theaters. In honor of Meet Monica Velour’s April 8th release, Bearden and Ingram flew back to New York City to celebrate their achievement, promote the film and to get a home cooked meal à la Cattrall. What’d you cook for them?

Kim Cattrall: Well, it's very difficult because Dusty has suddenly become a vegan, I don't know what, so I had to run out and just get a bunch of vegetables and just grill them and a little pasta. It's not my usual fare. They went to see Sleep No More and then they came over for dinner. They left at like one. I said, 'You've got to leave.' They’re like, [mimics them chattering]. They're so excited. I mean not that I'm not excited, but they’re like - this is his first movie. It's an amazing moment.

Does it remind you of the early days in your career when you were doing these kind of movies?

It does, but I never wrote a film and directed it and all that [Keith’s] done. This was such a labor of love and he's so good at what he does. He's so smart and funny and lovable.

You had made movies in the '80s, so did this remind you a little bit of the hair dos of those days?

Yeah. It's real case of arrested hairstyle, you know? We had so much fun hair and makeup wise and also gaining the weight was just the best possible thing and not exercising for two months was amazing. All those kind of treats and that's what I love about being an actor; you can transform yourself in that way. It’s easy to diet or get off a diet when you've got a juicy role to play.

I met Keith, they sent me the script and he was seeing quite a few actresses. I met with him in a little Thai place on 52nd and 7th and we hit it off pretty much from the first two or three minutes of talking and basically just about film. We talked about the character a little bit, but mostly about films from the '70s because he's a huge film buff and he's really smart.

I think my biggest contribution to what he has on paper is I said to him, “I think what we really need and what's missing a little bit is the connection to the daughter because I feel that this is really a story about a woman fighting for the right to have her daughter with her, the custody battle, and everything stems from that.” He said, “You're right,” and we changed a few things, which I think really helped with the conflict and with Monica.

Why is it important for you to play characters that show older women having a right to sexuality and not just teenagers?

[Laughs] Because I am an older woman who has a right to my sexuality at any age; it's my choice. I feel sometimes and in some ways like Linda Romanoli and Monica Velour; I feel marginalized because I'm in my fifties. If you went online and you look at some of the blogs, which one can do on a lonely night, it's pretty startling what people will say about you just because you're in your fifties. And I'm on the early side of fifty and I've had a whole life of Jane Fonda tapes and dieting and exercise and all the rest of it. I just think, how is it going to get any better if this is where it is now? Thirty was one thing, thirty-five. In Sex and the City and shows like Sex and the City we've been able to push the barrier back, but fifty, it comes with disgust and anger and marginalization, which is really pathetically sad. It’s rampant in North America. It's in Europe, yes, a little bit, but nowhere near - I think that's why I've been working a lot over there because they celebrate it. Here they don't know what to do with it; it's scary, it's threatening.

Did you do any research into meeting women like that? Your portrayal is so multidimensional?

Thank you. I didn't meet any porn stars. What I did do is watch a lot of 70s porn and I watched a lot of documentaries about pornography. What was so frightening about it is that these young girls, I think they come from all over the world to come to Hollywood and they want to be stars, and then suddenly they realize that they don't know how to act, they're pretty but there's a lot prettier women, so then they're sort of relegated to answering ads in the back of newspapers where they're looking for live models and then nude live models and then pornography is just right there. They become stars for a period of time and then they marry. Some porn stars, even after a certain age, they'll charge a certain amount for somebody to spend the night with them as an escort. And that's the way their life evolves until there's nothing left.

Beyond that type of research and just the physical transformation, what other kind of preparation do you like to do? Maybe in terms of script breakdown and developing a back-story for your character; do things like that help you?

Oh, yeah. When we got together and we were in those rehearsal rooms I asked him so many questions. And he had a lot of great answers and some of them he said, “I don't know. Let me find out,” or, “Let's find out together,” or, “What do you think?” My major contribution I felt, as a woman, was that need to protect and to have my daughter with me. He had written it and understood it, but that was a real heartbeat for me; understanding that she would do anything that she needed to do to get her daughter back. That was the major conflict.

How did that collaborative nature carry over onto the set? Was the script fluid where you could talk about things like that before you were about to shoot something?

No, we had worked so much beforehand and we had such a great communication. There was nothing unsaid. There was nothing unexpected. Within doing the scenes, there’s stuff that I do that's not written. The whole stuff with the bikers, those are real bikers and to make out with a real biker is something that you only need to do once in a lifetime. Those guys were so sweet and they were so lovely but, you know, it's a different kind of guy. [Laughs] He just let those things happen, so there was a real trust and communication. And Dusty was complexly free. He would go with wherever you were going in the scene. He doesn't have a lot of experience, but that's just his talent as an actor.

I imagine all that preparation helped when you had such a short shoot, too.

It was crazy. My stuff was six weeks and that was a lot. There was quite a few scenes that they didn't need. He overwrote it, so we had to shoot those as well. The end was originally a very long conversation with both of us on the phone, which you didn't really need.

You and Dustin have amazing chemistry. Did you have some time to get to know each other?

No, we didn't. Keith didn't want us to spend any time together. When we first started rehearsals, which were very light, [Keith] said to me, “I don't want you to be so nice to him.” I said, “He's so adorable,” and he said, “No, I don't want you to get too close,” which I think was really a great idea because there was always a feeling of him trying to impress her. Because Dusty's a very young actor, I think that might have led to some kind of relaxed relationship, which is not onscreen. There's always a separation between the two of them.

Are you going to move into producing and developing more projects? You seem to have had so much fun doing this kind of film.

I totally do, I'm an actor, though. If I'm producing, I'm not acting and it's such a long road to get anything off the ground. I'm working with a writer now in England about a project between a mother and a daughter, which I'm really excited about, but I don't want to produce it, I don't want to direct it, I would like to act in it. That's what I do, that's what I love to do. I don’t want to be in boardrooms talking about hiring hairdressers and minivans. I'm not good at it and I don't like to hire and fire people. I hate that. It's horrible.

Underneath it all, Monica is a very strong, independent woman raising a child on her own. Are these features something you look for when considering the script? It’s interesting how it’s the complete opposite of your character in Sex and the City.

There's something about Monica that scared me because she is so hopeless. She's strong, but she has no tools to change her situation. I don't have children and to really personalize that and fight for your own - in the scene where he brings her and she could lose her court case because he's taking her outside of the parameters of what the custody arrangement is, you see her like a mother tiger. That's something that's very exciting to play and to get behind, but she doesn’t live any lifestyle of convenience. Everything is a hardship. There's no bright lights, big city. There's no posh job. There's no great fashion statement to hide behind. Those characters on Sex and the City, people blow them up, but there were some really crucial moments, especially within the series, where these women felt pretty helpless and lost, too. Was it dealing with it on a level that Monica is? No, but it was still dealing with a lot of challenges that you have as a woman who is in the world. Put on top of that aging and feeling in that hopeless state. it's heartbreaking.

When I was a young actress, Jack Lemon said to me, “Do stuff that scares you.” That's how he chose his projects and I thought, “That's a great way to look at it,” because then you're constantly changing; you're getting stronger. Not every experiment works, but I don't do roles to say, “Oh, well, wow that was great.” I do it because I can't not do it. It's so exciting. When Keith said to me, “Are you really interested in this?” I was like, “Yes, but I'm scared.” [Laughs] He said, 'I'm scared, too.” We were all scared because when you step outside of what is considered your comfort zone - it's also, you know, I'm a woman. I want to look good, I want to feel good and then I look at the stills or I look at some of the scenes in the movie and it's right in your face.

Is there a certain regimen you had to abide by in so far as -

I had to eat and not exercise. [Laughs]

What did you get to eat?

Everything. Milkshakes, bread, pasta. Everything I could possibly want. Creamy sauces, French food. Just on and on and on. And drink what I wanted to drink. I could eat fast food or I could eat a really great steak, Béarnaise with potatoes on the side. I didn't have to go to the gym and I didn't have any of the guilt because it was for my work. [Laughs]

You seem to really be enjoying the thought of this.

Oh, it was amazing and then it was over and then on the horizon I had the Polanski film and I was like, “Oh, God. Okay, start again. Get on the treadmill. Get on the diet.”

Sam Rockwell's career has gone all kinds of odd directions lately in a way that seems to be turning him into a star-- the critically lauded performance Moon, the jazzy side character in Iron Man 2, etc. etc. But the Rockwell who made odd little comedies like Choke and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind isn't gone either; Deadline Hollywood reports that Rockwell is in talks to star in Sweet Baby Jesus, a comedy that takes its own spin on the birth of Christ.

Rockwell would be starring opposite Pixie Lott, a girl who's apparently the British equivalent of Lady Gaga, but with fewer crazy costumes and more acting ambitions. She also doesn't seem to be a porn star, despite everything the name might suggest. Lott is playing Mary and Rockwell is playing Joe, an expecting couple who arrive in Bethlehem, Maryland and eventually convince the townspeople that they're about to witness the Second Coming. Bette Midler is on board to play the innkeeper, while Kim Cattrall will play Mary's mother, Darlene-- I don't remember her being part of the original Bible story, but when the action gets moved to Maryland, I'm sure things have to change a little.

The director is Peter Hewitt, who gave us the Garfield movie, but also Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and last year's comedy The Maiden Heist, which starred William H. Macy and Morgan Freeman but got caught up financing troubles the kept it from getting theatrical distribution. This movie might be the break he needs, and with Rockwell on board, he's at least taken the first step in the right direction.

I wasn't really crazy about the first poster for Sex and the City 2 because, unlike the trailer, the poster seemed to be pretending that the movie was all about Carrie, with the other three characters basically like her backup singers.

I thought I would prefer a poster that included everyone, but yikes, was I ever wrong. Someone went a little crazy with the Photoshop and the golden hued skin color corrections, and everyone in this poster doesn't just look a little crazy, but not remotely like themselves. Did they photoshop Kristin Davis's face on to Kim Cattrall somehow? Did they digitally add rhinestones to Sarah Jessica Parker's irises? Is Cynthia Nixon stifling a yawn? And hasn't Parker heard all the mean internet jokes about her looking like a horse enough for her to avoid opening her mouth like that and making her face even longer?

I can only imagine all the catty insults that Stanford Blatch would have for a poster like this. I'm still seeing the film, of course, and I'll still hate myself for it, but this poster really isn't making it any easier.
