Voicing a character in a Walt Disney Animation movie has got to be the dream of so many actors, especially if you can sing. When it comes to Frozen alone, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell and others have spoken about the joys of being part of the franchise. But, for every Hollywood star who’s earned a role among Disney legacy, there’s a ton of actors who’ve auditioned and been rejected for the role. And, as it turns out Nick Jonas auditioned for a role in the aforementioned 2013 movie.

Nick Jonas and his brothers were named Disney Legends last weekend at Anaheim’s D23 Expo for their history with Disney Channel. Interestingly, enough, Jonas recently revealed that he went out for a key character in Frozen. In his words:

Whoa! Just imagine being in the Camp Rock veteran's shoes at the time Frozen was released and became a runaway hit. Nick Jonas actually told this story to Bell, Menzel and Josh Gad during a special D23 episode of the Jonas' Brothers' Hey Jonas! podcast. The role, of course, ultimately went to Broadway actor Jonathan Groff, who's definitely great as the endearing iceman.

Nick Jonas definitely has an incredible range as a singer, so I doubt he truly “bombed” the audition. But, in fairness, the movie ended up casting more Broadway-leaning talent. Yes, Jonas actually got his start on Broadway, but he primarily did that as a child actor. On the other hand, Groff had a whole resume of work in musical theatre under his belt by the time Frozen came along.

Still, it's worth mentioning that in 2012, just a year before Frozen’s release, Jonas ended up returning to his Broadway roots for his first on-stage stint since he was a kid. He played the starring role inHow to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. But how did Jonas ultimately feel after the film was released to critical acclaim and box office success. Here’s what he said:

Jonas isn’t the only actor who has spoken of a rough Frozen-related audition. Dylan O’Brien also tried out for a later-cut Frozen 2 character at an audition, where he didn’t know he’d have to sing. As he recalled, a “poor” casting associate had to “painfully” ask him to sing the chorus even though he knew he “[couldn't] sing.”

Nick Jonas’ audition story comes as fans await the release of Frozen III as part of the 2027 movie release schedule. Bell, Menzel and Gad attended D23’s Entertainment Showcase, where details on upcoming Disney movies were revealed. It was there that the trio revealed the first footage from the threequel. With this franchise still going strong, it would be cool if Jonas was able to land a spot in it at some point. If not, though, it seems that when it comes to his failed audition, he has definitely "let it go."

The cast of Frozen III came together at D23 last week, ahead of the sequel being released on the 2027 movie schedule, to share the first footage. And when they stopped by the Jonas Brothers’ podcast, they were asked about a live-action Frozen. Here are their best ideas for the leading roles:

• Kristen Bell: "I already know who I want to play Anna, though, it's Joey King."
• Josh Gad: "You know who is campaigning for [Idina Menzel's] role, I found out, Anya Taylor-Joy."

Just prior to this answer, Kristen Bell shared that she tried to get the cast to star in the Broadway musical with her. But they weren’t up for it. Then, Bell said her pick for Anna: 27-year-old Joey King, and I can totally see it. The actress is charismatic and fun like Anna, and has even been rocking red hair lately. She’s best known for The Kissing Booth movies and is set to be in Practical Magic 2 this fall.

Josh Gad then brought up Anya Taylor-Joy, who actually campaigned for the role before. Back in 2024, the Dune actress said it’s her “dream” Disney role. She also said it “would be very fun to shoot ice out of your hand” and “be the favorite at every kid’s birthday party”. Taylor-Joy definitely has the right look for the role.

And, yes, both actors have a history with singing, too. Though it’s not to the extent of the original voice actors.

What Idina Menzel Thinks About Live-Action Frozen

But, then Elsa herself, Idina Menzel, came in with an icy hot take! In her words:

The actress behind Elsa is talking about 2019’s The Irishman, where Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci were aged down digitally to play younger versions of their roles in the crime epic. As Menzel pitched it, why doesn’t Disney do that so Anna and Elsa could be played by their original voice actors? They also joked about Josh Gad wearing a physical Olaf suit, so there’s that, too.

Given how beloved the animated movie continues to be, it does seem possible Frozen could get the live-action treatment someday. The next animated movie to get it, though, is a remake of Tangled starring Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. It’s coming to theaters on March 31, 2028. Before that, we’ll see Frozen III when it comes to cinemas on November 24, 2027. Then, maybe after that, Anna and Elsa will make their way into the world of live-action.

Frozen 3 has been getting off the ground for years now. Josh Gad’s said it was to ensure the sequel is “not a money grab” and there’s been a slow trickle of news and wild salary rumors coming down the pipeline in the time since. Now, though, for the first time in forever, it finally seems like Disney is going hard in the paint to start amping us up for this threequel. The studio (and Kristen Bell) have no chill, and it’s exactly what I’ve been waiting for.

All this is to say, it was very clear for a long time that while Frozen 3 was in the works, Disney wasn’t ready to push a ton of info on us, but they didn’t want us to forget about the beloved, well-reviewed franchise, either. Now, the floodgates are open and the 2027 movie release schedule can't come soon enough.

The Walt Disney Company just dropped so much news at D23’s Entertainment Showcase on Friday night. From announcing the X-Men cast to Kathryn Hahn talking about how fans “manifested” her Tangled role, there’s a lot to talk about. But I want to discuss the big updates we just got surrounding Frozen III. The internet is already obsessing over the sequel’s new character, and I’m living for the theories.

What We Learned About Frozen III At D23

I had the pleasure of being in the room on Friday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. And seeing new details about Frozen III was definitely a huge highlight. It all started with Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel coming out to sing a more “mysterious” version of “Frozen Heart”. Then, Josh Gad strutted on stage to sing a love song to “Samantha”, who will be another snow person he’ll meet. Or make? Check it out below:

But the biggest moment was when Walt Disney Animation showed us a teaser for Frozen III – which is on the 2027 movie schedule for next fall. It’s essentially a scene that took audiences to the wedding night of Anna and Kristoff. Anna was in her wedding dress, and Elsa was in a gorgeous pink gown that had the crowd “oohing”.

Anyways, Elsa picks up a glowing shard of ice, which opens up a portal that came out of an Aurora Borealis. Elsa, Anna and company end up in a snowy wonderland where another ice-powered character approaches. Here’s what she says:

The teaser never showed us her face, and no further details were announced about her at D23, but whoa, what a grand entrance it was! So, this magical, mysterious woman is who I want to talk about more.

There’s Already So Many Theories About The New Character

Up to this point, Elsa has been the only character with ice powers, so this is a huge reveal. In Frozen II, we learned that the queen was bestowed her gifts by nature as the “Fifth Spirit”. Elsa found out she’s meant to help bring balance between the human world and the magic of nature. So, who could this new character be? My initial thoughts were a long-lost family member, but the comments on Reddit helped me dig deeper. Here’s one:

Now, I didn’t know this before, but apparently when the story of Frozen was being cracked, Elsa was initially imagined as an evil character. Oh, and here’s the kicker… the original idea was for Elsa to kidnap Anna at her own wedding to freeze her heart and unleash an army of snowmen. Because this clip happens at Anna’s wedding, Disney fans are theorizing that the studio literally went back to where they started. Here’s another theory:

Whoa! I was trying to place the voice of the character myself, and I could definitely see it possibly being Idina Menzel… though I’m not sure. I’m not sure if I’m on board with the “alternate universe” theory (it sounds a bit too Marvel to me). However, the idea of Menzel playing both characters and them being two sides of the same coin is definitely interesting.

We’ve also heard that both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 are happening, so what if there’s a cliffhanger where Elsa and this character join the forces of evil together? And this comment is also intriguing:

I’m definitely expecting the Aurora Borealis to be a big part of this, which I absolutely love, given it’s such an iconic and magical part of the region of Norway. These are all wild theories at this point, but I don’t doubt this comment is absolutely true:

Oh yeah, we’re going to get such a killer song from this character. I can feel it coming already.

Overall, Disney has made me so much more excited about Frozen III with this footage, and I can't wait to learn more about this character when the upcoming Disney movie hits theaters on November 24, 2027.

I love a happy Christmas movie as much as the next person. I'll take a healthy serving of merry and bright any day. That doesn't mean I'm entirely opposed to my Christmas spirit come with a side of dark and twisty. As such, Tommy Wirkola's 2022 comedy Violent Night was right up my alley. I loved David Harbour's no-nonsense Santa as much as I loved seeing him disrupt what should've been a well-coordinated heist with his intense combat skills. Criminals better watch out once again, because Violent Night 2 is coming to town, and as the trailer reveals, Harbour is back as Santa, this time with Mrs. Claus. Let's go!

We've known this sequel has been coming for quite a while now, and in a matter of months, it'll be here! Helmed by Wirkola with a screenplay from Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Violent Night 2 is set up on the 2026 movie schedule for December 4, and has Harbour's Santa on the naughty list, having lost his magic, along with his faith in mankind. He can get one back if he manages to restore the other. Last time he faced a group of mercenaries, this time he's facing gangsters who pose a threat to a mall around the holidays. I almost feel sorry for them.

Yes, the plot sounds a bit ridiculous, and it is. The trailer plays that up, complete with a sleigh-full of violence and some truly stomach-churning scenes. I'm not sure what grossed me out more, the guy getting a gingerbread-man-shaped chunk of skin cut from his forehead, or getting stuffed into an oven while covered in cookie ingredients that make the smell of him baking smell, as Santa puts it, "amazing." It's stuff like this that reminds me of the scenes from the first movie that I had to watch between my fingers. I even brought it up last year when I was talking about watching Novocaine (another movie with some super gross bloody scenes).

In addition to violence, the trailer gives us a look at a character teased in the first movie: Mrs. Claus! Kristen Bell has stepped into the shoes of Santa's better half, and it looks like she's ready to join the fight. Kristen Bell is such a great pick for Mrs. Claus, as she's the kind of actor who can take on an action role and be super funny about it, which I'm guessing is what's in store here.

In addition to David Harbour and Kristen Bell, the cast also includes Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, Andrew Bachelor and Maxwell Friedman aka AEW's MJF.

As mentioned, Violent Night 2 arrives on December 4. Whether or not it's good enough to find a spot on the list of best Christmas movies, as the first one did, remains to be seen. At the very least, it looks like fine, messy, bloody, sometimes-gross holiday fun and I'm here for it.

The last few years have brought us the best video game movies, with the subgenre no longer floundering as it had in the past. The Sonic the Hedgehog movies (which are streaming with a Paramount+ subscription) are definitely on that list, and a fourth film is on its way. Kristen Bell is voicing newcomer Amy Rose, and recently shared a photo from the recording booth. Unsurprisingly, her husband Dax Shepard weighed in with a sweet comment.

Sonic 3's post-credits scene had Amy showing up to rescue the title character from Metal Sonic robots, bringing yet another beloved character from the games to the big screen. Kristen Bell looks like she's having fun voicing Amy Rose, as she shared in the following Instagram post:

Her post-credits appearance was pretty badass, so I have to assume that her backstory will be somehow altered.

When it comes to video game movie adaptations that have been released over the past several years, few have found as much success as the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. SEGA’s lovable, blue character and his allies have been tearing up the box office, so it’s no surprise that a fourth film is currently in the works. Now, in an exciting turn of events, Kristen Bell has been tapped to join the cast in a major role. With that, she recently reunited with Sonic voice actor Ben Schwartz for a truly adorable photo.

It was announced this week that Kristen Bell would be lending her voice-acting talents to the role of Amy Rose, who was briefly introduced during a Sonic 3 post-credits scene. Obviously, the kid-centric Sonic the Hedgehog 4 marks a very different kind of collaboration for the two actors. All in all, I think this could be a very fun match, and I’m eager to hear Schwartz and Bell match wits as Sonic and Amy Rose, respectively.

Like Schwartz, Kristen Bell is certainly no stranger to voice acting, with arguably the biggest feather in her cap being her role as Anna in Disney’s Frozen franchise. Bell has the ability to bring authenticity to the roles she plays and, while many of her characters are quite soft-spoken, there’s a spunkiness that radiates from them as well. That definitely tracks when it comes to the character that the Emmy nominee is voicing within the Sonic universe.

A longtime character within the Sonic the Hedgehog games, Amy Rose is a competitive yet empathetic tomboy who’s part of the titular hero’s inner circle. Amy also serves as something of a love interest for Sonic, even to the point where she can be clingy at times. During the closing moments of Sonic 3, Amy Rose arrives to assist the blue speedster when he’s ambushed by Metal Sonic robots. How the heroine’s origins will be established within the continuity of the movies remains to be seen at this time.

Information on Sonic 4 is relatively scarce, though it’s been confirmed that Jeff Fowler – who helmed the first three movies – is set to return for this latest feature. Plot details are being kept under wraps, so speculation regarding the narrative ensues for now. Tails voice actress Colleen O'Shaughnessey previously spoke to CinemaBlend about what she’d like to see in the fourth movie. All in all, she’d love to see the gang travel to new locations beyond Earth.

There’s not telling when additional casting updates on the fourth film in this video game saga will arrive. However, at present, I just remain excited knowing that Amy Rose has officially been cast. Let’s hope Kristen Bell and Ben Schwartz’s sweet dynamic translates into electrifying chemistry between their characters.

Nowadays, you probably know Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop from The Good Place, Anna from Frozen, or perhaps Joanne from her new hit rom-com series on Netflix, Nobody Wants This. But it would be remiss to completely forget about her CW roots. The Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress had a nearly decade-long stint on the popular teen drama network in the 2000s, all because she was able to use the cancellation of Veronica Mars to land Gossip Girl.

The CW in the 2000s and 2010s was primetime viewing for anyone ages 12-18, with some of the most rewatchable shows to come from that era, including One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. Veronica Mars was Bell’s big break in 2004, where she played the titular teenage private eye for three seasons before the show was canceled due to ratings. Thankfully, the Queenpins actress is a quick thinker like Veronica, telling Vanity Fair how she turned the Veronica Mars cancellation into her next opportunity:

I can’t even imagine someone other than Bell being the voice of Gossip Girl, so it’s crazy to learn she got this role on a whim. Had she never reached out to the powers that be at the CW, we would have never gotten to hear the iconic, sassy “xoxo, gossip girl.”

Bell revealed that Veronica Mars had taught her to harness her snarkier side in her acting, something she asked to try out in the recording booth while narrating Gossip Girl. According to the Bad Moms actress, Gossip Girl’s creators had no notes, and she continued to address Upper Eastsiders the same way for all six seasons of the original show.

Bell even returned to narrate HBO’s Gossip Girl reboot for two seasons before it was swiftly canceled. It just wasn’t the same without S, B and the original cast, even with Bell narrating. However, fans did get to witness a crazy Veronica Mars/Gossip Girl crossover, with Leighton Meester guest-starring in Nobody Wants This Season 2. Although real marshmallows know this is a true Veronica Mars reunion through and through, as Meester played Carrie Bishop in the original VMars series, long before she made her debut as Blair.

As much as I would like these two to return to either Neptune, California or Manhattan's Upper East Side, the chances of another Veronica Mars or Gossip Girl reboot are slim. Bell has previously said she would play her #1 character, Veronica Mars, until the day she dies, but after Hulu’s revival killed off a fan-favorite, even the show’s cult following has sadly lost interest. I’ll never say never, though, cause clearly Kristen Bell makes her own destiny.

Nobody Wants This, on the other hand, has already been renewed for Season 3, and after fans freaked out over seeing Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen from The O.C. onscreen together, we can hope that Leighton Meester will reprise her role as Joanne’s childhood nemesis. You can see both Gossip Girl alums in Nobody Wants This Season 2, now streaming with a Netflix subscription, and keep an eye out for Season 3 on the 2026 TV schedule.

The Frozen movies are big business for Disney. At the box office, the two big screen releases – 2013's Frozen and 2019's Frozen II – have earned over $2.7 billion worldwide, and the amount of brand merchandising that has been produced is overwhelming. It's for this reason that the studio is very much committed to making more sequels to the blockbuster hits , and as a big part of that plan, the company has reportedly closed some major deals with stars Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel.

According to The Wrap, Disney has signed deals with the actors to reprise their respective roles in both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4, and the value of those contracts is said to be north of $60 million. It's a lot of money... but can you really imagine Anna, Olaf and Elsa being voiced by anyone else? Their work as part of the deal will begin soon, as Frozen 3 has been in development since 2023 and it is currently scheduled for release on November 24, 2027 (after being delayed a year from 2026).

Jennifer Lee is set to direct Frozen 3 after she stepped down as Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios last year, though not much is known about the plot of the film. At the end of Frozen II, Anna is crowned as the queen of Arrendale after Elsa decides to live her life in the enchanted forest, but we don't know what is on the horizon for the characters. At D23 Expo 2024, the first concept art for the movie was released, featuring Anna and Elsa on horseback looking at a city in the clouds while a dark figure looms... but further context for the image doesn't really exist.

Beyond their work in the Frozen movies, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel have all kept very busy. Bell's most high-profile work of late has been on the Netflix series Nobody Wants This, which debuted its second season this fall has has been renewed for a third. Gad has recently been hard at work on Spaceballs 2 (which he is starring in and he co-wrote), and Menzel most recently played the lead in the musical Redwood on Broadway from January to May earlier this year.

By the time Frozen 3 is released, it will have been eight years since Frozen II arrived in theaters, but it will be interesting to see if these contracts signed with the franchise stars ends up accelerating development of Frozen 4 (and that may or may not end up having an impact on the story told in the second sequel). In addition to Frozen 3, Walt Disney Animation Studios is also presently developing the fantasy feature Hexed for next year.

When Netflix’s Nobody Wants This first hit viewers’ screens last fall, it almost instantaneously got picked up for a follow up installment. With that quick greenlight, Season 2 naturally became one of the most anticipated 2025 Netflix TV releases. Now, even after it didn't get the same positive response this time, the Nobody Wants This team got the go-ahead for a third installment. I’m loving Kristen Bell breaking the news to her peers in this humorous way.

One of the best elements to the Bell and Adam Brody-led ensemble is that balance of humor, heart, and relationships. Thankfully, the announcement for the latest renewal mirrors exactly that. You can see Bell video call her on-screen love interest, maybe future siblings-in-law, sister, and show creator Erin Foster to spread the good news. But one of the calls has a fun twisty gag that’s on par with the series’ bits. Watch below:

For me, the cast's clear chemistry (on screen and off) make this one of the best shows to binge on Netflix. And the cheeky jokes certainly don’t hurt matters. (See Sasha's "7 Rings" dance and Justine Lupe’s pee-themed prank for Bell.) I just think Bell informing her peers and then trying to tell Foster is so cute, but the perfect amount of amusing, too.

So, what could lie ahead for Joanne and Noah now that they're out of the honeymoon phase? Much of the second season explored the two navigating the realities of growing out of first dates and butterflies. Time and again we saw them face issues head on, and despite all of the complexities, they reconnected. Season 3 seems likely to continue to dive into this idea within their larger storylines.

Specifically, I can see Joanne working off the revelation she had about her relationship to Judaism. That may lead to more exploration of interacting with Noah’s community at large. Meanwhile, Noah seems to be realizing that to forge ahead in his personal pursuits, he has to learn to open up to others and be flexible. But let’s not forget that Morgan, Sasha, and Esther are all at incredibly pivotal relationship moments that could complicate matters.

For me, I’m just hoping that the show’s humor doesn’t take drop as they get into deeper waters. It’s one of the many reasons why I’ve completely torn through both eight-episode sagas. For now, this sweet Kristen Bell video telling her castmates the good news will get the job done, now that I’m one of many waiting for Season 3. There have been plenty of epic prank stories to come out of movie and TV sets over the decades. Cole Sprouse and David Schwimmer played one on Friends that actually made the final cut, and George Clooney is infamous for them. Apparently, Kristen Bell enjoys a good prank herself, and her co-star Justine Lupe got her good with a truly disgusting ruse when they filmed Nobody Wants This Season 2.

Nobody Wants This boasts tons of comedic talent as one of the best shows to binge on Netflix, so it’s not a huge surprise that one of the most uniquely twisted pranks I’ve heard of in a while would come from the minds of its actors. Justine Lupe — who plays Morgan, the younger sister of Kristen Bell’s Joanne — told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that she decided Bell’s obsession with biohacking was the perfect launching point for the trick, saying:

So how did Justine Lupe go about doing this? Over the course of two months — “Two months!” Kristen Bell emphasized — Lupe made fake A.I. articles about the health benefits of drinking urine. She also would stage phone calls with members of the crew asking them to bring her thermos of urine to set.

Kristen Bell said her on-screen sister really put in the work, too, miming how Justine Lupe would sniff the contents of the thermos (which was actually chamomile tea, according to Lupe), cringe and then hold her nose before taking a sip.

The Veronica Mars vet said she was worried about her friend, even going so far as to call YouTube’s Dr. Mike to see if that was even safe. Again, this went on for weeks before the long con was revealed. Lupe continued:

Kristen Bell took over the story at this point, explaining how she didn’t want to be rude to her co-star but that there was no way she was accepting a mason jar of urine. Bell said:

Nobody Wants This Season 2 hit the 2025 TV schedule last month, and even though it’s failed to get the same positive response as its first season, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody were still able to serve up an emotional ending. This 10-episode batch also featured a guest appearance from Brody’s real-life wife Leighton Meester, and who can pass up seeing Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf share the screen?

Last year, Nobody Wants This was the streaming schedule release nobody saw coming. The wonderful rom-com surprised viewers, anchored by Adam Brody’s neurotic rabbi and Kristen Bell’s mouthy podcast host, the series (available with a Netflix subscription) mixed meet-cute energy with interfaith complexity and somehow stuck the landing. Season 1 didn’t just resonate with viewers, but crushed it with critics, too, scoring Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. But Season 2? Well, it's nowhere near Season 1’s Rotten Tomatoes score, and fans are going off about what happened.

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This currently holds a lukewarm 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, a sharp drop from the glowing 95% Season 1 earned. While that might still be considered “fresh,” the drop isn’t subtle. Critics and fans alike are questioning what went wrong.

The central chemistry between Adam Brody and Kristen Bell hasn’t vanished, but it’s buried under recycled plotlines, shallow character development, and so much product placement it starts to feel like part of the script.

Here’s how the scores stack up:

• Season 1: 95% – Critics loved the mix of heart and humor.
• Season 2: 77% – Critics say the magic's faded.

But the bigger red flag is the audience scores. Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcorn Meter, which reflects general viewer sentiment, shows an even steeper drop:

• Season 1: 85% – Viewers called it funny, heartfelt, and refreshingly original.
• Season 2: 55% – Viewers cite flat chemistry, repetitive storylines, and a lack of emotional payoff.

So what happened? How are fans online taking the change in quality? Well, let's get into it.

Fans' Online Reaction To Nobody Wants This Season 2

It's worth noting that between Seasons 1 and 2, there was a change behind the scenes. Erin Foster, who built Season 1 loosely on her own life, stepped back, and Jenni Konner (Girls) and Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls, Six Feet Under) took over as showrunners. While it seemed like they tried to smooth out some of the more problematic elements from the first season, including critiques of the portrayal of Jewish women and questions about Joanne and Morgan’s ignorance, the core couple’s emotional beats stayed the same. Too much of the same.

Brody and Bell spend most of the season circling each other in déjà vu conflicts that have left a lot of the show's core audience confused and frustrated. Here’s a snapshot of the conversation happening across Threads:

Critics like The Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg point out a structural issue: without a procedural “B-plot” to keep things moving, the show has nothing to fall back on when the romance stalls. In other shows, think Castle or Bones, romantic tension is framed by crime-solving. Here, when the tension dips, there's not much left.

Still, not everything is broken. Supporting characters like Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Morgan (Justine Lupe) pick up some of the slack, and moments like Sasha’s dance for Esther have been called “the highlight” of the entire season by more than a few fans.

But those bright spots aren’t enough to revive a core narrative that now feels tired and repetitive. To make matters worse, the show isn’t cracking Netflix’s Top 10 and is currently being outperformed by episodes of Ms. Rachel.

If Season 1 asked, “Can love bridge a faith divide?” Season 2 seems stuck asking, “Are we still doing this?” It’s disappointing to see a show with so much potential stumble in its second act. Whether there’s a Season 3 or not, fans are hoping the creative team can course-correct, but if they can’t, well, at least we’ll always have that near-perfect first season.

In Season 2 of Nobody Wants This, my fears from Season 1 came true... kind of. Throughout the season, Adam Brody’s Noah and Kristen Bell’s Joanne had to face the challenge of whether or not she’d convert to Judaism head-on. It was an inevitable hurdle they had to jump over after they decided to stay together last season, and they almost tumbled over it. The keyword is almost, though, because they decided to stay together in the final moments of the season, and that’s in part thanks to a conversation Joanne had with Esther.

So, when I had the opportunity to interview Jackie Tohn about this show ahead of its release on Netflix’s 2025 schedule, I had to ask her about the vital role her character Esther played in keeping Noah and Joanne together.

What Esther Told Joanne At The End Of Nobody Wants This Season 2

To recap, in the final episode of the season that just premiered on the 2025 TV schedule, the issue of whether Joanne will convert to Judaism hits a breaking point. Ultimately, that leads her and Noah to break up. Then, when she goes to the bathroom, she runs into Esther, and she starts listing all the things she’d miss about Judaism. In response, Jackie Tohn’s character says:

Esther goes on to say that Joanne’s sense of humor and her tendency to overshare are Jewish. She also called her “a true kibitzer” and “yenta.” She then went on to name all the other things that make Joanne Jewish, like her being obsessed with her family and her eating challah early. It was a sweet and, more importantly, lightbulb moment.

As Esther said, “With or without Noah, you’re Jewish,” Joanne was coming to a realization. And that realization that she was ready to convert is what led her back to Noah.

What Jackie Tohn Told CinemaBlend About Esther And Joanne’s Scene And Her Personal Connection To It

There’s no question, Esther is one of the major reasons why Joanne came to this realization that she was ready to be Jewish. Therefore, she’s part of how Noah and Joanne got back together. When I asked Jackie Tohn about what that meant to Esther during an interview for CinemaBlend, she said:

She’s right, Esther tells it like it is, and while she and Joanne were on better terms this season, they really aren’t that close. So, for her to so matter-of-factly tell Bell’s character that she’s become Jewish simply by falling in love with the little things about the religion while she was going through her own heartbreak with Sasha means the world.

However, it didn’t just mean the world on-screen. It was important to Tohn personally, too. The Jewish actress has been friends with Kristen Bell for decades, and to deliver this message to her was incredibly meaningful. Explaining why that was the case, the actress said:

That’s so sweet! To be able to deliver such a heartfelt message to such a real close friend must have been wonderful, and Jackie Tohn made it clear that it was.

Now, I’ll be curious to see how this ending changes both Joanne and Noah’s relationship as well as Esther and Joanne’s friendship. However, we’ll have to wait and see when it comes to that. For now, I’ll just be basking in this sweet scene that helped lead Nobody Wants This’ two lovebirds back together.

If you grew up loving teen dramas and watching The CW, odds are, you watched and adoredThe O.C. and Gossip Girl (I know I did). So, when I learned that those projects’ stars, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, were a couple in real life, I swooned. Now, I’m properly freaking out, because they’re sharing the screen in a project on the 2025 TV schedule, and I’m not the only one. Yeah, fans of Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf are also making it clear that they very much wanted all of this on Season 2 of Nobody Wants This.

Long before Season 2 of Nobody Wants This premiered on Netflix’s schedule, it was announced that Meester would be guest-starring on her husband’s show, which also stars the voice of Gossip Girl, Kristen Bell. Now, the project is out, and people have had a chance to see the Gossip Girl vet's character, Abby, interact with Brody’s Noah and Bell’s Joanne in Episode 5 of Season 2. Let’s just say the nostalgia is hitting hard on social media, as @cloiskryptonite posted:

In response to that iconic post that called out the fact that both Meester and Bell were on Gossip Girl, and Brody is an equally iconic early 2000s icon from The O.C., @TheNuGeekz had a hilarious reply. Writing in the voice of Gossip Girl, they posted:

First of all, as a Chuck and Blair shipper, this is hilarious. Secondly, as a fan of Adam Brody and Leighton Meester as a real-life couple, I’m so here for this.

What also got me laughing was the fact that in the show (which you can stream with a Netflix subscription), Noah actually says that Abby, Meester’s character who is Joanne’s childhood nemesis, is “not my type.” That’s truly hilarious considering Brody has been married to her since 2014. And audiences clearly got a kick out of it as @caitlingilbs reacted to that moment with the following statement:

There really is something about this whole situation that brings back all the nostalgia. In the “Valentine’s Day” episode of Nobody Wants This, there were a lot of gifts being given. However, I think the best one had to be Sasha’s dance for Esther. Timothy Simons’ character busted a move for his wife to Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings,” and it was equal parts funny and adorable. So, when I interviewed Simons and Jackie Tohn, who plays his wife, about the new episodes that just dropped on the 2025 TV schedule, I had to ask for the story behind crafting this wonderful moment.

Timothy Simons Recalled Rehearsing And Performing The ‘7 Rings’ Dance

There are a few great binge-worthy Netflix shows that feature fun dances, like Wednesday, and now I think we can add Nobody Wants This to that list. While Sasha is by no means a professional dancer, his commitment was admirable, and the joy it gave Esther was infectious. Timothy Simons also told me that quite a bit of work went into pulling this moment off, as he said during an interview with CinemaBlend:

I love that he found the confidence to own this dance, and I really adore how excited everyone was for it.

When they filmed the “7 Rings” dance for the project on Netflix’s 2025 schedule, extra people showed up to watch it. Talking about the entire crew and even the show’s star, Kristen Bell, being on set for this moment, the Veep actor said:

Now, while extra people showed up to watch this dance, Timothy Simons made sure Jackie Tohn didn’t see it until it was time to film it. She wasn’t allowed to watch the rehearsal, and it sounded like it was vital that they captured her raw reaction to the dance on camera.

Explaining why it was important for his on-screen wife not to see his moves until action was called, he said:

Well, that paid off, too, because the Esther actress’s reaction was priceless.

Jackie Tohn Recalled Her Reaction To Timothy Simons’ Dance

While Esther isn’t the most emotional character on Nobody Wants This and tends to keep a straight face, she couldn’t contain her joy when Sahsa revealed that he’d learned a dance. It turns out, Jackie Tohn couldn’t contain it either, so what you see on screen isn’t just her character’s reaction, it’s hers too, as she explained:

Oh, it was “choreo, choreo,” and Simons killed it! This was such a sweet gesture from Sasha, and I love how much time and effort went into it behind the scenes, too.

Now, we can all go back and smile as big as Esther did when she saw the “7 Rings” dance for the first time, because not only is it wonderful to watch, but knowing the story behind it makes it even better.

October is coming to a close, but the spooky season is far from over. This week sees a pair of new series that are likely to send chills down your spine, along with much more family-friendly fare and the return of a fan favorite romantic comedy. There’s something for everybody this week.

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle - October 22 (Hulu)

1992’s The Hand That Rocks The Cradle was number one at the domestic box office for a month. While the remake (which sees Mary Elizabeth Winstead take over from Rebecca De Mornay) will only be available with a Hulu Subscription, we can guess that Disney hopes this film about a woman who becomes a nanny to terrorize a family she believes wronged her will be just as successful.

Lazarus - October 22 (Prime Video)

Mystery and thriller author Harlan Coben has written numerous bestsellers. In 2022, he signed a deal with Amazon, which led to a well-received adaptation of his novel Shelter. The newest project from this partnership (available with a Prime Video subscription) is Lazarus, starring Bill Nighy and Sam Claflin as a son who begins to see the dead following the apparent suicide of his father.

Nobody Wants This, Season 2 - October 23 (Netflix)

The hit romantic comedy series starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody returns for a second season as your favorite couple continues to deal with the beautiful and complicated relationship. Despite the title, it seems clear that everybody with a Netflix subscription wants this.

Weapons - October 24 (HBO Max)

A last-minute addition to this list, it was just announced this past Friday that one of the best movies of 2024 so far, Weapons, will be making its streaming debut this week. Make sure you have your HBO Max subscription ready because you won't want to miss this wild ride.

LEGO Frozen: Operations Puffins - October 24 (Disney+)

It’s still going to be a few years before fans get the long-awaited Frozen 3, but those who let it go (sorry) will have some new Frozen fun available with their Disney+ subscription in the form of the latest Disney and LEGO animated collaboration. LEGO Frozen: Operation Puffins sees the Duke of Weselton use the sea birds as an army to attack Arrendale. Several members of the Frozen voice cast, including Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad, all reprise their roles.

A House of Dynamite - October 24 (Netflix)

From the director of Zero Dark Thirty comes A House of Dynamite. With a stellar cast including Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris, and more, the new film from Kathryn Bigelow sees an apparent ICBM launch against the U.S., and the government must take what little time it has left to figure out the right way to respond, and possibly avoid the end of the world.

IT: Welcome to Derry, Season 1 - October 26 (HBO Max)

IT is considered by many to be Stephen King’s greatest work. It’s a story so big it required two films to tell the whole story. And yet, the story isn’t quite complete. From Andy Muschietti (the director of IT) comes IT: Welcome To Derry, which serves as a prequel to the films that explore the evil that came to town in the years before. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of people really want Nobody Wants This’ return to Netflix’s 2025 schedule. Thankfully, we’re getting that very soon, and to celebrate its October 23 release, the cast gathered for the Season 2 premiere. One of the show’s stars, Kristen Bell, obviously showed up in style by rocking a little red dress. However, her kids hilariously thought said dress was “too sexy to wear out of the house.”

First, let’s talk about this dress. The Frozen actress showed up to the Nobody Wants This Season 2 premiere in a lovely little red dress by Alex Perry. The smooth texture mixed with the lace pieces was absolutely stunning, and it matched the red theme of the carpet. Take a look:

However, while I find this dress beautiful, Bell joked that her kids did not. During an interview with Access Hollywood, she was asked about the garment, which also has a sheer lace panel in the middle and a low back. In response, she recalled her kids’ recations to it, explaining:

Kristen Bell and her husband Dax Shepard share two kids, Lincoln, who is 12, and Delta, who is 10. So, they’re at ages where they would probably say something hilarious like that to their parents. And considering Bell and Shepard’s sense of humor, this makes total sense.

Anyway, all that aside, Bell’s outfit is honestly exquisite, her kids’ reactions to it make it even better, and overall, the dress fits the vibe of Nobody Wants This. As the interviewer pointed out, the actress did match the show’s logo perfectly. I also think this dress is 100% something her character, Joanne, would rock too.

Speaking of Joanne, let’s chat about what Kristen Bell threw this dress on for. Following the Season 1 cliffhanger of Nobody Wants This which involved Noah’s big choice to run after Joanne, we finally get to be reunited with Bell and Adam Brody’s characters as their romance continues. That means we’ll also get to see how the relationship between Morgan, Sasha and Esther develops too. Oh, also, Brody’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester, is joining the cast, and I have a feeling her mommy influencer character will be hilarious to watch.

So, it should be a season full of fun shenanigans from all as they all grapple with big themes about love and faith.

Season 1 of Nobody Wants This was easily one of the best shows to binge on Netflix, and Season 2 has been at the top of my most anticipated list all year. Then, this premiere and all the fun looks at it, including Kristen Bell’s red dress that her kids hilariously didn’t want, have me even more pumped to use my Netflix subscription to stream the romance's sophomore season on October 23.

Trust me, I want Nobody Wants This Season 2; I want it so badly. In fact, I’m counting down the days to its premiere on Netflix’s 2025 schedule. However, I can’t lie, I’m nervous too. Season 1 ended with Noah chasing after Joanne and saying, “You were right. I can’t have both." So, I’ve been living in fear that this decision could lead to a vicious cycle of regret and resentment. However, Adam Brody has quickly made me feel better by sharing his thoughts on Noah’s actions.

Back when I binged Nobody Wants This with my Netflix subscription, I was quick to write about how Noah’s choice at the end to go to Joanne deeply stressed me out. While I was thrilled he ran after her, I also couldn’t help but think of the repercussions since this will likely directly impact his potential job as head rabbi.

However, in an interview with Deadline, Adam Brody was asked, “Will Noah regret choosing Joanne over becoming head rabbi?” And his answer quelled my Nobody Wants This anxiety, as he said:

Talk about not mincing his words! The confidence with which the Noah actor answered that question means so much to me, because I’ve been wondering if his character would regret his choice.

Obviously, I love a grand romantic gesture. I’m a sucker for one, in fact. However, the whole situation in Nobody Wants This is so deeply complex and nuanced. On the one hand, Noah getting the job as head rabbi is a dream come true, and everything he’s been working toward. So, I want Joanne to support him. However, on the other hand, if she feels like she does not want to 100% convert to Judaism, she shouldn’t have to, and Noah should support that. And sadly, I think it’s impossible for both of them to get exactly what they want while in this relationship.

Therefore, I had a big fear that Noah’s decision to run to Joanne could lead to resentment if he loses the head rabbi position.

However, Brody’s words ease my anxiety tenfold. I’m sure what he did could cause tension, and this push and pull between religion and romance will continue to be a primary point of conflict in the series. I’m thrilled to know, though, that it won’t tear them apart, because this statement makes it clear that Noah will never regret his choice.

One of my favorite things about Nobody Wants This is its focus on healthy communication. Noah and Joanne are so good at talking out their feelings, and I know that as they face this next challenge, they’ll continue to do that. That was simply reaffirmed by Brody’s blunt and very sweet statement about how his character feels about all this.

So, now I’m feeling great going into Season 2 of Nobody Wants This. And my countdown to its October 23 premiere on the 2025 TV schedule is no longer riddled with worry (for the most part).

The 2025 Emmy nominations have been announced, and plenty of stars and 2025 TV releases are receiving props. While Severance and The Studio are among the nomination leaders, Nobody Wants This (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription) scored three nominations. With that, the show's lead actress, Kristen Bell, received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Afterwards, Bell's hubby, Dax Shepard, took a photo of his enthusiastic wife, who was nude (aside from wearing socks). Hilarious celebrity reactions from Gwyneth Paltrow and more then followed.

I'm so here for Kristen Bell receiving recognition for her latest show. She’s been on amazing shows that have never won an Emmy, like Veronica Mars and The Good Place. Now, for Nobody Wants This, it looks like the Emmys really want this TV show after it received nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (for Adam Brody) alongside Bell's nod. I can certainly understand Bell wanting to celebrate, but I'm not sure I expected her to do so as she did in Dax Shepard's. Bell also shared it to her Instagram story:

I'm happy about the nomination, but I'm even more impressed by the photo, to be honest. I don’t even have the flexibility to have a form like that. That aside, Kristen Bell is truly lucky to have such a supportive husband to celebrate her achievement. Bell and Shepard have been married since 2013 and share two daughters.

The Parenthood actor has also seen Bell’s Netflix show, and he had a funny reaction to seeing her smooch Adam Brody on screen, calling it “the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.” Their playful honesty and unfailing support for them truly make them one of Hollywood’s cutest couples, in my eyes.

With Nobody Wants This earning Kristen Bell some Emmy love, it's great that she chose to celebrate like no one’s watching. However, the Frozen actress did catch the eyes of a few celebrities, who sent in their hilarious reactions:

All jokes aside, though Kristen Bell deserves her flowers for her Emmy recognition and unique handstand while baring all. Her performance in Nobody Wants This is a perfect blend of comedic timing and genuine vulnerability. Bell’s character, Joanne, is incredibly relatable in that she's trying really hard to fit into her rabbi boyfriend’s world but is having a tough sell with his family and wondering if she’ll ever truly belong. In short, the Netflix original is an excellent showcase of Bell's talents.

If this is how Kristen Bell celebrates receiving an Emmy nomination, I can't imagine what she'll do if she wins. Of course, I don't think she'd try to perform a handstand on stage while accepting the award. She could pull another playful, nude stunt at home after the fact, though. In any case, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Bell wins!

When Nobody Wants This premiered last fall, it immediately became one of the best bingeable Netflix shows during its first live weekend. NWT S2 was quickly greenlit, and the large fanbase has been patiently waiting for its release later this year on the 2025 Netflix streaming guide ever since. But who is the series' biggest advocate? Kristen Bell revealed the surprise demographic who has been recommending it, and it just confirms that we all do want this Noah/Joanne world to continue.

The show’s leads, Bell and Adam Brody, stopped by Today to talk about the romcom. Via a TikTok clip of the morning news staple’s page, she shares the details of who’s regularly batting for the series, and it’s not who you’re expecting. The Frozen actress stated that in six different instances, different females have said that their dad hooked them up to the smash hit. She revealed:

I’m obsessed, but honestly not super surprised. While not all dads are rom com savvy, the ones who are generally have some spot-on recommendations. Would I have guessed the Brody-Bell series already ranked on seemingly plenty of fathers' lists? No, but then again, it was in the trending list for quite some time for a reason.

I say this all because I have a TV Pop who’s introduced me to some immaculate picks. The top rec that comes to mind is Breaking Bad. (He was watching it in its first year, and I couldn’t separate Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle’s Hal, but he promised me it was crazy but good.) And if you’re wondering, he too has watched Nobody Wants This and will be returning for S2.

Between the improvised jokes and gags pulled off effortlessly, real familial relations and the complex love story brewing, it really is a top-notch watch for any adult audience. So, if you haven’t gotten around to watching it, per my recommendation, or one of the many paternal figures out there, what’s stopping you other than an active Netflix account?

Bruce Willis remains a beloved figure within the Hollywood sphere, with fans and fellow celebrities alike having spoken highly of him over the years. Of course, it’s not just Willis’ great films that have earned him the admiration of his peers and the public at large. He’s also been commended for the kindness he’s shown people. Attributes like that can surely rub off on people, and that seemed to be the case with Dax Shepard. As Shepard’s wife, Kristen Bell, explained, he picked up a sweet habit from Willis that persists today.

Kristen Bell participated in a lovely chat with friend and fellow actor Adam Scott as part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series (which is on YouTube). What made the conversation so delightful is that they not only discuss their work but their personal relationship. Early on, Scott brought up Dax Shepard (who he’s also friendly with) and made note of his generosity. Bell eventually recalled how they all recently went out for burgers and, when Scott – who offered to pay, said he didn’t have enough cash, Shepard swiftly stepped in.

As the Severance star put it, Shepard dropped “like eight times the amount of the check on the table.” Bell initially joked that her hubby does that to “flirt” with her, but that’s truly one of her “favorite things about” him. She then went on to explain how Bruce Willis played a role in shaping Shepard’s giving spirit:

It’s sweet hearing about Bruce Willis’ unselfish nature, but what I really love is the way in which Dax Shepard apparently views it in his mind. The thought of a major actor like the Die Hard icon giving “little presents” to people as he sees fit simply brings a smile to my face. As previously alluded to, this is far from the first time that the actor’s considerate nature has been mentioned. Willis’ Sixth Sense co-star, Haley Joel Osment, spoke about how he was generous with his time on set. Veteran producer Jerry Bruckheimer also revealed how Willis treated the Armageddon crew to regular cash drawings.

Dax Shepard certainly picked up the right kind of habit from a fellow actor, and I love that Kristen Bell finds that so attractive. Both Bell and Shepard – who married in 2013 and share two daughters – have been incredibly open about each other and aspects of their relationship. For instance, amid the COVID lockdown, the couple admitted that they weren’t getting along in isolation. Ironically, Shepard also addressed fans’ assumptions that his wife pays for everything and, based on what we know now, that’s definitely not the case.

It honestly does my heart well to hear so many people praise Bruce Willis following his retirement from acting. Unfortunately, in 2022, Willis’ family announced that he would leave his profession due to being diagnosed with aphasia. His condition was further clarified to be frontotemporal dementia. It’s honestly heartwrenching that Willis is battling the disease and that his wife, Emma Heming, has faced challenges while caring for him. All the while, a story like Kristen Bell’s could help ensure that Willis’ goodwill is long remembered.

It's been three months since the Severance Season 2 finale was part of the 2025 TV schedule, but I know I’m still emotionally recovering from everything that took place during it. While I’m not surprised it took a toll on the series’ star Adam Scott, it’s interesting to hear him talk about one scene he was worried about, because he clearly crushed it. SPOILERS are ahead!

There are a lot of standout scenes from the finale, particularly how the season ends with Mark and Helly running away from Gemma after all that time when his outie thought his wife was dead and wanted to reunite with her. One moment from the episode that Scott’s friend and fellow actor Kristen Bell asked him about during an interview with Variety was when Innie and Outie Mark talk to each other over a camcorder. Here’s how he said he reacted to seeing that scene on paper:

It’s one of the many genius scenes of Severance, but Adam Scott was not here for it when it came to being the man who had to pull it off. He said it was one of those shoot days that always felt like it was “on the horizon,” continuing with these words:

Hey, it’s understandable. The actor had to play both versions of Mark as they had a conversation with each other with a camcorder. It cannot be easy to keep both Marks straight, and it’s a real key scene to the audience's understanding that Innie Mark has become his own person and is rejecting Outie Mark’s wishes. As he explained further:

The actor of course didn’t screw up, he killed it in all the ways possible for that scene, and it really helps frame the ending of the season.

Scott spoke further about what went into that scene with these words:

Adam Scott sounds like a guy who doesn’t quite realize his talents as he passed off all of the credit for a scene that he had to play both parts in to everyone else involved, but of course, every scene of Severance is a collaborative effort. Considering the actor is currently in contention to earn another Emmy nomination for his role, he’s definitely being humble.

As we wait for the Emmy nominations to be announced, prior to it being one of the upcoming award shows for later this year, I will still be thinking about the Severance finale and what it means for Season 3 and potential Severance spinoffs.

When I watched Nobody Wants This with my Netflix subscription, and I saw Noah and Joanne kiss for the first time, I was saying OMG. Then, I was saying it again at the end of NWT’s first season when Adam Brody’s character ran after Kristen Bell’s. However, apparently, they won’t be who we’re gasping over in Season 2.

Oh no, when Season 2 of Nobody Wants This premieres on Netflix’s schedule, we’ll apparently be dropping our jaws for other characters, and I have a theory about which ones.

Kristen Bell And Adam Brody Said Nobody Wants This’ OMG Moments Of Season 2 ‘Won’t Necessarily’ Be About Noah And Joanne

Knowing that the show is wrapped and there’s a goal to release Nobody Wants This Season 2 on the 2025 TV schedule, I’m starting to really think about what will happen to Noah and Joanne. EW was too, as it asked Kristen Bell and Adam Brody if they had filmed a scene in their sophomore season that they think fans will “lose their minds about.”

While she wouldn’t divulge details, Bell surprisingly answered the question by saying:

In response to that question, Brody proclaimed that he agreed with her statement “wholeheartedly.”

Well, what does that mean? Last season, almost all the biggest moments involved Joanne and Noah. However, in Season 2, it would seem that some of the most shocking scenes will involve other characters.

Explaining why this will happen in Season 2, the Veronica Mars actress said:

You know, that makes sense. In Season 1, we were introduced to a lot of people in Noah and Joanne’s world. And in the second season, it makes sense that we’d get to know them even more, as the two leads really settle into their relationship.

So, considering the relationships established in those first episodes, I have a theory about who will get these OMG moments in Season 2.

Therefore, I’m Theorizing That Noah And Joanne’s Siblings Will Play A Much Larger Role In Season 2

After reading all of that from Bell and Brody, it led me to think about their characters' siblings, Morgan and Sasha. While Season 1 set up a potentially weird relationship between the two of them, it didn’t go there, and Justine Lupe, who plays Morgan, said it would be more fun to explore their relationship as “weird friends.” I totally agree.

Both Lupe and Timothy Simons, who plays Sasha, are brilliant comedic actors, and their chemistry on screen is so funny. I could see Season 2 focusing more on their personal lives and developments, which could lead to some of the most shocking moments.

Maybe Sasha and his wife Esther (Jackie Tohn) will have a breakthrough moment that’s equal parts funny and romantic. It’s possible Morgan could find a partner that surprises us.

I’d love to see the two siblings also continue to develop their odd friendship. That shocked me in Season 1, and with the affirmation that it probably won’t go beyond platonic friendship, I’d love to see them get into all sorts of hijinks that lead me to say “oh my gosh.”

Overall, I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with Sasha and Morgan. I also think they have the potential to grow as characters in ways that leave us in shock and awe. Therefore, I’d love to see them at the center of these scenes Bell described.

If there’s something I know about Leighton Meester, it’s that she’s great at playing a nemesis. During her time as one of the leads of the Gossip Girl cast, she made a name for herself doing just that as she played the ever iconic Blair Waldorf. Now, she’s about to play another adversary in Season 2 of Nobody Wants This, and I have a hope about this new character that’s related to the early 2000s teen drama.

Leighton Meester Shared A Bit Of Insight Into Her Nobody Wants This Character

Not long after Nobody Wants This was renewed for Season 2, it was announced that Leighton Meester would be joining the cast. As both the wife of this show’s co-lead, Adam Brody, and an excellent television actress, this was a thrilling development. Things got even more exciting when it was revealed that she’d be playing Kristen Bell’s middle school nemesis, Abby.

Now, she’s opened up a bit about her new character and specifically her relationship with Bell’s Joanne while speaking to Flaunt, saying:

So far, we know Meester’s character is “an Instagram mommy influencer” who is the “middle school nemesis” of Bell’s Joanne. We currently don’t know why their paths cross. However, the idea of sassy teenage drama coming into the picture excites me to no end, especially because both actresses were involved with Gossip Girl, a classic series about teenage drama.

I Need Leighton Meester To Bring Her Blair Waldorf Energy To Nobody Wants This

When I watch Gossip Girl (which you can do with a Max subscription), the element I always love the most is the catty drama. A lot of the time, Blair is at the center of it, and seeing her go toe-to-toe with her friends and foes of the Upper East Side is always delightful. From her on-again-off-again friendship/rivalry with Blake Lively’s Serena to her ongoing and deeply dramatic relationship with Ed Westwick’s Cuck, the way Meester’s character handled it all brought me an immense amount of joy.

The sass she always exuded, mixed with her hyper intelligence and high fashion, made for a fascinating and wildly entertaining character that Meester commanded the screen with.

This is the kind of energy I need her to bring to Nobody Wants This, especially since she’ll be going up against Kristen Bell, who is ironically the voice of Gossip Girl.

Plus, Bell’s podcast host, Joanne, is a sassy gal, and she’s not afraid to call someone out. So, I just know she has the fire in her to reignite a feud with someone from her past. The fact that Meester’s Abby will be on the presumed other side of it is brilliant.

These two both have what it takes to bring the extra drama of Gossip Girl back to the screen, and that’s exactly what I want from them in this new season of Nobody Wants This.

The more I watch Severance, the more I want to know, and that means, I’m constantly itching for new episodes! Thankfully, Season 2 is airing right now, and we’ve gotten some answers about topics like Gemma’s whereabouts and more. However, I still always want more. It turns out, two of the show’s famous fans, Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell, need more too, as their hilariously violent messages to the show’s star Adam Scott prove.

In the middle of Severance’s run on the 2025 TV schedule, Adam Scott appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to chat about Season 2. The host asked him if he gets “pushed” for details about the show, and in response he called out some of his famous friends, jokingly saying this about Bell and Shepard:

He brought receipts too. After that humorous statement, Clarkson proceeded to play the messages from the power couple, and while the Severance star said Bell and Shepard were “the best,” he also said these “are not particularly fun.”

Dax Shepard And Kristen Bell Sent Adam Scott Hilarious And Aggressive Voicemails About Severance

While these are hilarious, I imagine these voicemails must be jarring to get. During the interview, Scott played the messages he got from the actors, and he started with this one that’s equal parts intimidating and silly:

• Dax Shepard: Alright, you son of a bitch, Bell and I just sat here on the edge of our seats, waiting to find out what happens when you guys come to…
• Kristen Bell: You losers!
• Dax Shepard: Oh buddy, are we [bleeped out] pissed that this episode just ended.

Scott laughed with Clarkson over the messages, joking that they really weren’t “necessary.” However, that didn’t stop the actors from sending them. In another voice note from the Parenthood star, he joked that Bell had been hospitalized after running through a window, and the Step Brothers actor would have to wait until next week to find out if she was OK.

Like many fans of Severance, these two clearly (and hilariously) did not want to wait to find out what happened, they wanted answers ASAP! So, as you can imagine the wait for Season 2 was extra hard for them, as Shepard stated in another message:

However, don’t you worry, while these are a lot, they’re all in good fun. Plus, Adam Scott didn’t hold back with his response to them.

Adam Scott Had An Equally Savage Response

After all that, Adam Scott joked that he wasn’t above fighting back, and fight back he did. In response to seemingly Shepard’s final voicemail about him getting back to set, the Parks and Rec actor said:

My goodness! He can dish it just as well as Shepard and Bell can, and I bet many can relate to the funny stress and tension in every message here. Overall, Severance is easily one of Apple TV+’s best shows, and so many people care deeply about what will happen to Scott’s character Mark, and need to know what happens next.

Thankfully, now we have it, and Season 2 is almost fully out, as the finale drops this Friday. OK, OK, I’ll drop the Gossip Girl schtick, but the Kristen Bell of it all just made it too hard to pass up. Seriously, though, I do want to talk about Adam Brody and his wife Leighton Meester, because the two were spotted sneaking quite the intimate moment at the Critics Choice Awards after he won for his role on one of the best shows to binge on Netflix. Adam Brody — who starred in Nobody Wants This with Kristen Bell — won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series when the ceremony aired on the 2025 TV schedule February 7. EW caught him sharing a sweet kiss and long hug with Leighton Meester (who starred as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, where Bell voiced the titular gossip-monger) at the ceremony, which you can see below:

The O.C. alum has been enjoying quite the Brodyssance since returning to TV — a move Millennials are definitely in support of, even if Nobody Wants This did give us some Gilmore Girls-related FOMO. In the romantic comedy series (available to stream with a Netflix subscription), Adam Brody plays Rabbi Noah Roklov, who engages in a relationship with the agnostic sex-and-relationship podcaster Joanne. Hilarity ensues.

I mean that literally; the series is absolutely laugh-out-loud funny, and it’s easy to see that Leighton Meester was happy that her husband was being recognized for the role. He beat out some stiff competition, too, in Brian Jordan Alvarez (English Teacher), David Alan Grier (St. Denis Medical), Steve Martin and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building), and Kayvan Novak (What We Do in the Shadows).

The series was such a hit amongst viewers that Nobody Wants This Season 2 was ordered, and while it’s been a few months since we’ve gotten an update on when we’ll see Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s characters again, the plan had been for Noah and Joanne’s story to continue possibly in September on the 2025 Netflix schedule.

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester met in 2010 on the set of the movie Oranges and ultimately got married in 2014. The stars of two of the best teen dramas share two children together. However, even though Brody has been enjoying professional success lately, it’s been a pretty tough time for their family.

Like so many celebrities who have been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, it was a month ago that Adam Brody’s home in the Pacific Palisades burned to the ground. He and Leighton Meester purchased the $6.5 million mansion in 2019, and the fact that they lost their family's home really gives some context to the emotions behind that long hug and passionate kiss that they shared at the awards ceremony.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have been the talk of the town in recent weeks after their fun rom-com series Nobody Wants This hit the Netflix schedule. Fans have latched onto the quirky premise, about a rabbi dating a sex podcaster; however, what I really feel has made the show most likable is the cast’s rapport and ability to improvise some unlikely scenes. In fact, we previously learned their meet-cute was unscripted, but I was shocked to find out another one of Season 1’s hysterical scenes was not actually written.

A funny side plot in Nobody Wants This Season 1 is that Rabbi Noah is in a recreational basketball league with his boys, and they are flat out terrible. Joanne (Bell) still goes to the games with some of the other wives while trying to get in good with them as the lone shiksa, and it does not go well. That is, until her sister pulls out a bunch of booze in a moment that was never actually written for the series. The full story, per editor Maura Corey?

I have no idea how the player wives and girlfriends were supposed to interact before the drinking montage came about, but it’s a highlight of the season for me, and I'm so glad Corey shared this detail with Indiewire. The guys are so bad at basketball, instead of drinking when they make a shot, they cleverly (or not so much) start drinking and cheering every time their men miss, leading to an excess of alcohol. It’s very funny, and it all came together in the editing room after the entire sequence had been shot.

Previously, showrunner Erin Foster admitted that Adam Brody has no idea how to open a wine bottle in real life. In fact, the party scene in which Noah meets Joanne was supposed to just have him casually opening a bottle of wine. However, he honestly sucked so bad at it while cameras were rolling and he and Bell just went with it, to the point where he even cracked a joke about being a sommelier.

When funny people get together, I expect that to come up with some funny one-liners, but it’s moments like these that really highlight why Nobody Wants This has been such a win for Netflix. It’s refreshing premise, it’s idea to put Bell and Brody together, and it’s otherwise very, very funny cast all make the rom-com sitcom a real win for the streaming service–and unlike many of Netflix’s other more sexually explicit romances, this one’s sex shop jokes are played for humor and not bedroom shenanigans, which means it’s (probably) OK to watch with your mom this holiday season. It’s no wonder Nobody Wants This has already been renewed for Season 2.

This is a time in one’s life when a lot of grown-up things are occurring like weddings, kids, perhaps deaths in the family, and having nostalgia for those younger years before one’s twenties. Given Brody was one of those underrated heartthrobs of the ‘00s so many of us were crushing on back in the day, I know I feel vindicated seeing him still meet that status decades later.

Ted Danson’s first foray into heading up an exclusive streaming series has unsurprisingly been just as successful and well-received as most of the actor’s other big shows. Audiences love A Man on the Inside, and the most heartstring-tugging comedy on the 2024 TV schedule has also been a winner with critics, as it reconnected Danson with The Good Place creator Michael Schur and featured several on-screen reunions. But arguably the biggest cameo was the easiest one to miss, involving both Kristen Bell and a striped sweater.

The A+ Callback To Kristen Bell's Good Place Character

To say it right up top, this cameo happens in the Season 1 finale of A Man on the Inside, but I won't delve into any plot-related spoilers here, since I'm sure some readers may want to know about the appearance without learning the conclusion.

Near the end of the episode, and of the season as a whole, Danson's character Charles is giving a lecture to a class whose professor is played by The Good Place's D'Arcy Carden. It was obviously an applause-worthy moment on its own, considering how many scenes they shared together as Michael. and Janet, respectively.

Charles' lecture was shown from the students' seats a few times, which is where viewers could see a blond female wearing a sweater with colorful stripes encircling the top.

Though the woman is never seen, just the back of her brought to mind The Good Place's excellent series finale, since it's the same motherforking top that Kristen Bell's Eleanor wore in the episode, as seen below. (Fans can currently stream both Good Place and Man on the Inside with a Netflix subscription.)

Obviously we can't start up any wild fan theories here, since Eleanor was dead as soon as The Good Place started, and almost definitely would not have gone to any lectures like the one Charles was giving even when she was alive. And so the explanation here is simply were at one point two people in this universe (at least) who look exactly like Kristen Bell/Eleanor, and they both owned the same striped-up-top sweater.

D'Arcy Carden Confirmed It Really Was Kristen Bell

Obviously, it would have been easy for Michael Schur & Co. to just have an anonymous actress standing during the scene while wearing that signature sweater. But that kind of casting is for amateurs, not someone who crafts things as lovingly as Schur.

D'Arcy Carden took to Instagram with a post confirming that was indeed Kristen Bell's back that was turned to viewers, with fellowing Good Place vet Mark Evan Jacobs also popping in for the group shot.

While it's unlikely fans will ever get any kind of official follow-ups from the after-world of The Good Place, we can possibly rest assured — or perhaps rest a-Schur-ed — that its creator will keep giving us winks, nods, and split-second cameos for the foreseeable future. Now let's get Season 2 in motion, what's say?

If you’re anything like me, you probably watched Nobody Wants This over the course of a weekend or even the day it premiered. I was originally interested in the show as a longtime fan of Adam Brody but stayed for the well-liked romantic and familial relationship dynamics so smartly woven into the show. And, as one of the best surprises on the 2024 TV schedule, fans, myself included, are anxiously but excitedly awaiting Season 2. So it’s perfect timing to hear the updates from Kristen Bell and Brody.

The Netflix rom-com stars caught up with Variety during a For Your Consideration event at Tudum Theater in Hollywood. They shared all things Nobody Wants This, including some revealing information on how soon we might receive Season 2. Brody reassured the interviewer -- and by extension, any fan who binged the hit that -- the turnaround time to see Noah and Joanne's continuation shouldn't be too long. He shared:

If The O.C. alum’s timeline is correct it would be wonderful to have a return to a more timely period between seasons. However, between the pandemic and Hollywood strikes, it has been understandable to see such irregular schedules for both TV and movies. And, of course, there's the long hiatuses that streaming shows experience in general. Regardless, I’m glad that the show, a part of the 2024 Netflix release schedule, can continue this quickly. Albeit, they probably have an easier time releasing seasons since there are no CGI Demegorgans or historically representative costumes to account for in production.

And, even though there aren’t extra special on-screen additions we know of so far in regard to Nobody Wants This Season 2, Kristen Bell shared some new interesting production bits. For starters, the Frozen star divulged some key behind-the-scenes changes, and she then explained just how far the season has been plotted out. She said of what’s to come:

Hopefully, those new showrunners will bring some distinct creative flair to the show while maintaining the core essence of why fans enjoyed it in the first place. As for the production schedule, Season 1 absolutely saw an explosion in popularity that not even the stars were fully prepared for, so it makes sense to bulk up and fast-track the series to ensure a timely release.

Now, what will be waiting for us on the other side of that concerning ending for Joanne and Noah? That I’m not sure of, and it will probably spike my anxiety again for the duo. Still, I'm grateful for that impeccably timed update from Bell and Brody to ease things for just a bit.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody truly shine as Joanne and Noah, respectively, on Netflix’s 2024 TV schedule release Nobody Wants This. At present, I’m dying to know what will happen in the upcoming NWT Season 2 for the show's unconventional lovers and their over-involved families. I’ll take any reason to watch the show again, and that's especially true now that I've learned that the best flirty moment of the series was improvised. Funny enough, that scene also made Brody realize he should be "a better actor."

Showrunner Erin Foster and the two lead actors recently appeared at a FYC panel to promote their new hit amid the recent success (and backlash) it's received. While talking about how the show is inspired by her actual religious-blended relationship, Foster told Janine Rubenstein of People that one scene from the first episode was impacted by Adam Brody's real inability to perform a task, but it ended up working anyway, thanks to his and Kristen Bell's chemistry:

For those who watched the series, or even just the first episode, you may remember that this is the scene in which Joanne and Noah first meet at their friend’s dinner party. Noah chivalrously offers to open Joanne's bottle of wine, only to struggle to open it not once, not twice, but three times. Fortunately, for the pair, the snafu occurred during a chunk of dialogue that included talking about embarrassing fun facts, and the veteran actors were able to riff off that. Erin Foster added:

While I think it's a testament to their improv chops, the scene really demonstrates the natural and infectious chemistry these two share, and that moment and others like it may have hooked audiences early on. If you consider their early work on Veronica Mars and The OC, it's not surprising that Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have a knack for quick conversation and witty one-liners. Quite frankly, I'm not surprised at all that Bell and Brody have received so much love.

Watching the scene back, I can see where the script slips into a real snafu, but viewers probably wouldn't know if we weren’t told. The actors don’t miss a beat taking it in stride, and it’s honestly really impressive. Improvised lines from Adam Brody like “What’s my embarrassing thing? Well, I used to be a sommelier,” had the Frozen actor throwing her head back in a real hearty laugh. I hope the fact that they kept the scene in made the Kid Detective actor feel better about the hilarious mishap, as he clearly was a little embarrassed:

I know he’s joking here, but if we are being honest, struggling to open the wine doesn’t matter. In fact, Adam Brody’s response outshines the blunder and proves his acting chops. Even if they did have to cut his struggle with the cork down from a 7-minute long take. Regardless, the whole interaction had me giggling and kicking my feet, and I don't think Brody needs to worry about becoming a "better actor."

Between scenes like the wine bottle snafu and a first kiss that even had Kristen Bell’s husband, Dax Shepard, swooning, it’s no wonder the romantic comedy has been renewed for a second season immediately after its premiere in September. Noah and Joanne’s chemistry is definitely top-tier, and I'd say that they're already among the best TV rom-com couples of all time.

It’s been over a month since Nobody Wants This hit Netflix as part of the 2024 TV schedule, and yet the romcom series is still all anyone can talk about. Even Adam Brody has gotten in on the fun, laughing about all the memes created about his “sexy Rabbi” character. But it’s the “kiss seen around the world” that’s keeping the show alive in many people’s minds — including Kristen Bell’s husband, Dax Shepard, who had a funny reaction to watching the scene with his friend.

While appearing at the New Yorker Festival (via People) this past weekend, Shepard was asked about his relationship with his wife and their own working relationship. For those that might not remember, Bell was the first guest on Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast when it launched back in 2018. It looks like the real world starts to creep in, though, when it becomes clear at a large dinner gathering that they may have different ideas about what the future looks like and whether or not Joanne will convert to Judaism.

Jackie Tohn, who plays Sasha’s wife Esther, has been promoted to the main cast for Season 2 after recurring in the first season. Also returning are:

I’m excited to see more from Esther and Sasha, particularly in relation to Sasha’s growing friendship with Morgan (and Esther’s feelings about that).

Leighton Meester And Seth Rogen Are Among the New Cast Members For Season 2

In addition to all of the returning actors, Netflix has confirmed a handful of newbies joining the Nobody Wants This world. This notably includes Adam Brody’s wife, Leighton Meester. The Gossip Girl alum will play Abby, Joanne’s nemesis from middle school, and while it’s reasonable to think this connection would have Meester sharing the screen with Kristen Bell more than Brody, we’ve been promised a fun scene between the real-life husband and wife.

The above trailer also gave us our first look at Seth Rogen, who is guest-starring as Rabbi Neil in the upcoming season. Other casting additions include:

• Miles Fowler as Lenny, Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate.
• Alex Karpovsky as Big Noah, a confident rabbi at Noah’s temple.
• Arian Moayed as Dr. Andy, a psychotherapist.
• Kate Berlant as Cami.

It’s going to be so fun to see Adam Brody and Leighton Meester share the screen, but Seth Rogen and Kate Berlant are sure to bring their own brand of humor as well, and I’m really excited to see it.

Nobody Wants This Will Continue To Explore The Complicated Romance Between Joanne And Noah

The preview gave us a peek at some of the complications that Joanne and Noah will face on the sophomore effort of Nobody Wants This, but the cast has also hinted at what’s to come after that wild Nobody Wants This Season 1 ending.

Faith Will Continue To Be A Big Issue For Noah And Joanne

The central focus of Nobody Wants This is clearly the relationship between Noah and Joanne. Joanne is honest with Noah at the end of the first season, saying that she doesn’t know if she’s ready to convert, and that's definitely going to come up again.

Whether or not she joins Noah's faith remains a conversation in Season 2, but no matter what happens, Adam Brody said there’s “not a chance” his character regrets walking away from the head rabbi job to be with Joanne. We can only hope they continue to prioritize each other as the season goes on!

Season 2 Will Most Likely Answer Questions About Sasha And Morgan’s Potential Romantic Relationship

Something else that was a big part of Season 1 of Nobody Wants This was the fun (and kinda flirty) friendship between Noah’s brother Sasha and Joanne’s sister Morgan. With Sasha’s wife Esther’s role being increased for Season 2, I’m guessing we’re going to delve deeper into the will they/won’t they of it all, as well as the dynamic between Timothy Simons' character and his wife.

If we’re talking about things nobody wants, I feel like fans are really hoping these characters are able to continue to grow their friendship — while keeping things platonic. That’s definitely how Justine Lupe feels, saying there’s more story to mine from their weird friendship than an affair that would tear Sasha’s family apart.

Jenni Konner And Bruce Eric Kaplan Take Over As Showrunners

The showrunner situation got shaken up a bit between the first and second seasons. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan replaced series creator Erin Foster and Craig DiGregorio as showrunners for Season 2, with Nora Silver coming on as an executive producer. In an interview with THR, Foster said they needed a new process, and she wanted to be able to focus on being the voice of the show and writing.

There’s been no word yet from Netflix or anyone involved in Nobody Wants This as to how long the series is expected to continue or if Season 2 is its last. I’m just excited to see where these fun characters take us in this next batch of episodes, and luckily, we don’t have long to wait.

If there is one thing to know about Kristen Bell, it’s that she’s not a regular mom. She’s a cool mom…who also happens to be a really famous actress. If you ask me, that makes her even cooler, especially given her most recent project Nobody Wants This has been renewed for a Season 2 and boasts a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While her Netflix series is a bit mature for her 11 and 9-year-old daughters, her other super cool project, the Frozen movies, in which Bell voices the main character Anna, should impress them, right? Unfortunately for the Veronica Mars star, this is not quite the case.

Frozen 3 was announced last year among a number of other Disney sequels, but the chances of Kristen Bell’s kids liking this third installment are still slim. The Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress has admitted many times over the years that her two daughters have always unfortunately not fans of the Disney princess films. Now older, they still have not let it go. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the Bad Moms actress says they have gained some appreciation for the films, although it’s probably not how you’d expect, as she said:

Well, it seems Bell’s kids definitely inherited her humor and honesty! If there is one thing I love about The Good Place star and her husband Dax Shepard, it's how vulnerable and hilariously honest they are when it comes to their personal lives. Sometimes it’s about more serious things, like having to go to couples therapy, but most of the time they're sharing silly stories about how their kids surprisingly outwit them.

It’s not for show either. While filming Frozen 2, the voice of Gossip Girl said she channeled a lot of her own experiences with depression into her character Anna’s own struggles. In fact, it seems Kristen Bell had a huge hand in shaping the Disney princess. For example, in the TikTok below, she explains her one request when agreeing to voice Anna was that she not be perfect like so many princesses before her. She’s just a regular girl, who snores, is clumsy, and likes to build snowmen.

Seems to me Kristen Bell’s characters always seem to mirror some of her own qualities, specifically her quick wit. Why wouldn’t her kids love that?! Therefore, I think the You Again performer might be onto something with this theory about her children just being stubborn.

I hope she knows that even though her kiddos may not be interested in Frozen, I very much am a part of her loyal fanbase. Some people might be skeptical about Frozen 3, but I for one am very excited for an Anna and Kristoff reunion. However, I am curious where this next movie will take us, given Bell previously said the movies should mature with the characters.

What we do know about Frozen 3 is Anna has accepted the crown and Kristoff’s proposal. Perhaps we will see them adopt a snow dog? Maybe it’s a good thing I’m not writing this, but I look forward to finding out more details about Anna and Elsa's next story soon.

Nobody Wants This Season 2 Better Keep Its Streak Of Healthy Communication

As I mentioned above, Foster touched on my big hope for Season 2. My favorite thing about Nobody Wants This was how good Brody and Bell’s characters are at communicating. While they have their roadblocks – and a real big one lies ahead of them too – they know how to talk to each other about it, and they productively worked through it all in Season 1.

The scene where Noah told Joanne he could handle her, iconic. The way Joanne voiced her insecurities, wonderful. Both of them transparently communicating about their life goals and feelings toward their relationship, we love to see it. And I need to more of it.

Thankfully, we’ll get all of that and probably more. Nobody Wants This’ Season 1 ending set up Season 2 by leaving us with Noah running to Joanne after she told him to chase his dream of becoming head rabbi rather than her and their relationship. It was shocking, and it sets up the conflict of them dealing with their relationship and the influence religion will have on it quite well.

So, here’s hoping more positive and romantic energy is to come in Season 2 as Noah figures out if he wants to be head rabbi and Joanne continues to ponder if she should convert to Judaism. I’m scared that kind of massive impasse could lead to a lot of resentment between the two characters. However, if they maintain their healthy lines of communication, this is something I 100% believe they can work through, and it’s something I definitely want to watch.

Like Erin Foster explained during her interview, for the sake of entertainment, drama sometimes has to be injected into the proceedings.

As Erin Foster also explained amid the chat, she and her team pitched the series to many different streamers, but all rejected the idea, except for Netflix. Since its late-September release, the show seems to have struck a chord. Nobody Wants This scored success on Rotten Tomatoes (though some called out what they believed to be Jewish stereotypes). Whether it’s because of people having fallen in love with Adam Brody on classic teen show The O.C., people enjoying Kristen Bell's charm and humor or viewers finding relatable elements, this series is making an impact.

News on the show's future has yet to be divulged, but there's already buzz and speculation (and concern) about Season 2 and what it could hold. I’m hoping for a lot more funny sibling one-liners, incredible mother-in-laws, and even more time with Bell and Brody. And, hopefully, it continues to pay homage to Erin Foster’s real husband and her in-laws and add an extra special layer in the process If you haven’t caught up on Nobody Wants This, it's now streamable with a Netflix subscription.

Spoilers for Nobody Wants This are ahead!

The ending of Nobody Wants This made its title even more fitting, because I don’t want what’s coming next, and I don’t think Adam Brody’s Noah and Kristen Bell’s Joanne do either. Don’t get me wrong, I adore this 2024 Netflix release, and I want more of it. However, the end of Season 1 set up Season 2 in a way that concerns me, and we need to talk about why.

How Nobody Wants This Ended And Set Up Season 2

Now, while I’m worried about the end of Nobody Wants This, it certainly did set up Season 2, which, in the grand scheme of things, is good.

After Joanne tells Noah – who just found out he’s going to be the head rabbi – that she couldn’t convert to Judaism because she would be doing it for him and not herself, she tells him not to chase after her. Well, he didn’t listen, he ran to the parking lot she was headed to and waited there for her. When she got off the bus the following conversation happened:

Joanne: So how does this work?

Noah: Well, you were right. I can’t have both.

Then, Adam Brody’s character kisses her and the show ends. We don’t know if they’re back together, we don’t know if Noah will turn down the head rabbi gig, and what lies ahead feels like an endless cycle of potential resentment that I’m scared of.

Why I’m Nervous Nobody Wants This Is Going To End Up In A Terrible Cycle Of Resentment

OK, let me re-emphasize and clearly state my issue with the end of Nobody Wants This: it seems like Joanne and Noah are headed into a never-ending potentially resentful cycle of being willing to change their lives for each other and doing what’s best for themselves.

I hate that for both of them.

Could they find a happy medium? Maybe. However, this show is messy as all get out. And while clear and healthy communication is a theme in this series, this topic that Season 2 ended on is the issue that they really can’t figure out.

Frankly, I’m not interested in seeing Noah go back and forth about wanting to be the head rabbi or not because of his love for Joanne and Joanne figuring out whether she’s willing to convert to Judaism. In both cases, they’re right. Brody’s character shouldn’t have to give up his dream job, and Bell’s shouldn’t have to fully convert to a religion she’s not 100% on board with. However, if they fully commit to one of those options, resentment feels inevitable.

That impossible choice makes me worried about what could happen in Season 2.

I realize conflict is necessary to make a great rom-com – and all the best ones have it. However, things go awry when the couple gets stuck in a never-ending cycle of trying to make an impossible decision like this, and I don’t want that for Noah and Joanne or the viewers.

Obviously, they have to work through the head rabbi and convert topics to survive as a couple, I get that. However, I’m scared that it will take over Season 2 and make them miserable for the whole story. I understand this is a big choice they need to make as a couple, and I do think it can make for good TV if it’s handled with care. But, I can’t help but be concerned about this overtaking the show and sucking the fun out of it as these two struggle between their love for each other and what it might take to make their relationship work.

While I’m concerned about how the show will go on after this ending, I do think Nobody Wants This is one of Netflix’s best shows at the moment, and I do want more. So, if it gets renewed for Season 2, you better believe I’ll be using my Netflix subscription to watch it while also crossing my fingers that Noah and Joanne figure out this situation in a way that’s productive, healthy, possibly funny and entertaining.

The streaming wars have been raging on for years now, and Netflix is constantly releasing new movie and TV content. Those with a Netflix subscription were recently treated to the new romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, which stars Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. And Brody's dreamy performance as a hot Rabbi is giving me some serious Gilmore Girls-related FOMO. Let's break it all down.

Nobody Wants This has a killer rotten tomatoes score, and it's wildly popular on Netflix at the moment. The internet has also been thirsting over Adam Brody, who is endlessly charismatic and dreamy as Noah Roklov. And seeing just how much of a heartthrob he is makes me bummed that his tenure as Dave Rygalski on Gilmore Girls was so short.

Brody's starpower was still growing when he guest starred in Gilmore Girls for nine episodes as Lane's love interest/ bandmate Dave. Unfortunately, he was written off after Season 3, presumably so the actor could star in The O.C.. While his replacement in the band became another beloved character, some fans maintain that Dave and Lane should have bene end game... myself included.

Of course, Gilmore Girls fans know how things ultimately turned out for Rory's best friend Lane. After Dave left the band Hep Alien continued on for the entirety of Gilmore Girls run, including the limited series sequel that hit Netflix a few years ago. A Year In The Life solved some of the show's mysteries, but Dave was unfortunately never seen again.

Lane ended up having a romantic connection with Zack, with the pair eventually marrying and having twins. Still, some fans think that Dave was the right person to end up with Keiko Agena's fan favorite character. And seeing Adam Brody go into full-on heartthrob mode for Nobody Wants This, I feel robbed for both myself as a Gilmore Girls fan, as well as robbed on behalf of Lane Kim. After all, Zack was never really the dreamy type.

Reception for Nobody Wants This has been mixed, with some Netflix subscribers taking umbrage with its overall direction and narrative. Additionally, there's been some backlash to the portrayal of Jewish characters, which some have found to be stereotypical. Still, smart money says plenty of folks are binge-watching the new Netflix show, including Gilmore Girls fans. After all, both of Amy Sherman-Palladino's shows are available to stream on the vrery same application.

I have to wonder if other Gilmore Girls fans are going to have the same FOMO about Dave and Lane upon binge-watching Nobody Wants This. Despite his short run on the beloved series, he definitely made an impact. And there's going to be a new generation of fans swooning over Adam Brody.

Kirsten Bell returned to the small screen for a 2024 TV premiere that flew right under a lot of people's radars in recent months, and even I was barely aware of its existence before it hit Netflix's TV schedule. But now that it's fully out and available for everyone to stream, her romantic comedy Nobody Wants This has been an undeniably popular and acclaimed hit so far.

Of couse, just because a TV show is able to landa. high score on Rotten Tomatoes doesn't mean it's automatically free from critical opinions and blowback from certain viewers. Let's dive into both the good and the not-so-good news coming out of the new series from creator Erin Foster.

Kristen Bell's Return To TV Is A Critically Acclaimed Hit On Rotten Tomatoes

It's true that a TV show or movie landing a stellar score on Rotten Tomatoes isn't necessarily the most accurate indicator of a project's quality, it's fairly rare for projects that are Certified Fresh to be widely considered as pure crap. And Nobody Wants This certain isn't on the low end of the quality spectrum, having earned a whopping 93% score (at the time of writing); of the 29 reviews compiled, only two outlets gave the show a Rotten rating.

In my personal opinion, Nobody Wants This is largely deserving of the praise being thrown its way, even if I was irked by the ending living up to the title. The comedy is on point, the romance is mostly on point, even if it takes a mild suspension of disbelief to buy into Bell's Joanne and Adam Brody's hot rabbi Noah falling so hard so quickly.

But it's not even just about the core romance. Nobody Wants This also delves into complicated but largely rewarding sibling relationships, both between Joanne and Justine Lupe's Morgan, and between Noah and Timothy Simons' Sasha. And for the most part, it avoids many of the groan-worthy tropes that plague lower-tier romantic comedies. But not all viewers were in agreement that Netflix series eschewed ALL stereotypes.

Creator Erin Foster Defended Nobody Wants This For Audience Complaints About Jewish Stereotypes

Series creator and showrunner Erin Foster based many elements of Joanne's journey from her own life. Five years or so prior to the Netflix show's debut, she went through a ten-week course at the American Jewish University in West Los Angeles, having also fallen for a Jewish man — current hubby Simon Tikhman — who was resolute about his significant other sharing his faith system.

But for the most part, it's not Joanne and Noah's relationship specifically that's gotten flak, but rather the Jewish women in Noah's life who present as highly judgmental, overly controlling, and not the most open to meeting new people. (Not that different from mothers of any and all beliefs, at least in my experience.) Glamour's Jessica Radloff penned perhaps the most widespread critical assessment of Nobody Wants This' depiction of Jewish women, but Foster defended it by saying everyone's experiences are different, and that crafting characters who avoided all stereotypes would have been criticized as inauthentic. As she put it to the L.A. Times:

A fair enough explanation, even with its shortcomings. Going too far in any direction is going to ruffle someone's feathers, and sometimes it's easier to fall back on what's more familiar and then build off of that.

As far as the specific complaints about Noah's mom Bina (Tovah Feldshuh) and daughter-in-law Esther (Jackie Tohn), Erin Foster shared that she didn't exactly go through that with her own in-laws, who were far more open to outsiders, but that the nature of television narratives influenced the move to make Bina so strict about her son's choices. According to the showrunner:

From a story perspective, it gave Noah and Joanne another cultural hurdle to conquer and leap past in order to keep their realtionship going strong. Of course, by the end, Brody's rabbi seems to be throwing his entire career and lifepath out to sea in order to stick with Joanne, but we'll have to wait and see how that plays out in a potential second season.

Spoilers below for the first season of Netflix's Nobody Wants This, so be warned if you haven't yet watched.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect anything hitting the 2024 TV schedule to cause me to declare, "Well that's a fantastic romantic comedy series that I'm so glad I binged across three days." And yet Kristen Bell and Adam Brody's beyond-adorable relationship in Netflix's hit new series Nobody Wants This had me hook, line, and sinker.

At least, it held me right up until the end of the Season 1 finale, "Bat Mitzvah Crashers," which seemed to turn its own title from describing the show characters’ reactions and opinions about Joanne and Noah’s relationship to describing how I felt after watching the very last scene. Let’s dive into a few ways the name Nobody Wants This applied directly to my thought process while watching.

Nobody Wants A Stereotypical Rom-Com Ending, But There It Was

For the majority of the time I spent watching Nobody Wants This — not long at all considering the spisodes' short runtimes — I found myself loving just how well the show avoided common tropes that even the best rom-com movies of all time can be guilty of. Or, in the instances where stereotypes did crop up, the characters directly addressed them logically or self-awarely. (Joanne's friend squad literally hit on the same talking points that I spoke aloud while watching.)

Noah's struggle to balance his faith-based, set-in-stone lifestyle (and mother) with the spontaneous whimsy of a rebound relationship with Joanne was a solid arc for that character to follow. It was similarly satisfying to watch Joanne realize that she was capable of finding an alternate to her free-wheeling behavior, and that at least temporarily, she felt comfortable enough to theorize a life after converting to Judaism.

Ideally for me, Noah and Joanne being catalysts for life changes in the other person was justification enough to have watched their rapidly evolving romance for a 10-episode season. Kristen Bell perfectly delivered the line about leaving so that she didn't make him choose. Loved. It.

Then came the big sigh. For all that it was well-telegraphed story-wise (though I have no idea what kind of timeline this bat mitzvah was adhering to), it still bothered me immensely that the Season 1 finale ended with Noah having run to meet Joanne by her car to reveal that he seeming to be choosing her instead of his literal lifelong dream to be head hot rabbi. Er, just head rabbi.

Adam Brody portrayed Noah's excitement about his faith quote convincingly to me, and he was downright adorable peppering Hebrew into their conversation earlier in the day. And while I also believed in his romantic feelings for Joanne, the last scene of the show is the one moment where Nobody Wants This felt like every other rom-com. And I didn't want that.

Nobody Wants Sasha And Morgan To Start A Needless Romance, And They Didn't!

For all that Nobody Wants That left a vaguely sour taste in my mouth due to Noah's last-second rebuttal to Joanne's break-up speech, I have to applaud and ovate while standing over how happy I am that showrunner Erin Foster didn't unnecessarily taint Morgan and Sasha's burgeoning kinship by making it romantic in the slightest.

I absolutely treasure both Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons, and did not initially suspect that they would end up having any sort of chemistry, much less the intentionally platonic kind. Considering he's a "California sober" semi-stoner dork with limited ambitions and she's a woman of the world who doesn't have time for watching Dune, much less watching Dune 2 sans the context of watching the first one. (Per their text conversation that Sasha's wife Esther seeks out without his knowledge.)

SImilar to the way Joanne and Noah inspire the other to reach a middle ground in one way or another, Morgan and Sasha's impromptu friendship addresses things missing from both of their lives. Sasha isn't allowed to have female friends, due to Esther's seemingly unwarranted strictness, while Morgan isn't accustomed to having male friends where the end game isn't sexual gratification for one or both.

By all means, Foster & Co. may choose to go the unfortunate direction in a theoretical Season 2 by having Esther's jealousy ironically inspire sparks of genuine attraction between Sasha and Morgan, or some other likeminded outcome. But for now, I'm extremely happy that this was one of the annoying tropes that was avoided entirely.

Nobody Wants A Kristen Bell Show Without Ryan Hansen, And He Appeared!

For those who miss seeing The Good Place characters in the afterlife, this Netflix show allowed the pleasure of watching Kristen Bell and D'Arcy Carden share the screen again, albeit in far different contexts. But Bell fans are far more used to seeing her and longtime buddy Ryan Hansen popping into each other's projects, with Veronica Mars as their first shared modern classic.

So it was indeed cheer-worthy when Joanne took a moment in Episode 3 to call one of her exes to get his take on Noah not immediately responding to her messages, and that the ex was played by Hansen. But get this, he wasn't just playing a random ass dude, but rather (unofficially) reprising one of his most beloved characters.

As Joanne points out, Hansen is playing a character named Kyle who just so happens to be wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the name Karma Rocket. For those who aren't immediately picking up on those hints, this is a direct reference to Hansen's character Kyle Bradway in Starz's beloved caterer comedy Party Down. He was one of the main returning cast members for the 2023 revival, so it's fitting to think that he'd have clothing merch from his fictional band.

Also worth noting is that Kristen Bell appeared in two episodes of Party Down as the milatant rival caterer Uda Bengt, but if there were any direct references to that character in Nobody Wants This, I am sorry that I missed them. But I'm not sorry the Hansen-Bell connection remains strong!

Despite my issues with the ending, I can easily see myself rewatching Nobody Wants This, which anyone can do with a Netflix subscription while waiting for Season 2 updates.

In some ways, actors really are just like us — sometimes they pretend to be more important than they are to impress their friends and sneak into places they’re not supposed to. At least, that’s the case for Kristen Bell, who shared a hilarious story about how Will Ferrell didn’t call her out on her lies while she was sneaking around 30 Rock and SNL afterparties.

It might have been purely coincidental that Bell appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers the same night as Ferrell and Harper Steele, all of whom Meyers said he first met back in 2001 while working on Saturday Night Live. Still, it perfectly introduced the Frozen actress’s hilarious story about the time the Anchorman star helped her out. Coincidentally, the incident also happened in 2001.

Bell was lucky enough to see Ferrell on Saturday Night Live, thanks to her college best friend, who had landed an internship at the variety show. While not part of her job duties, said friend – who also happens to be Meyers’ sister-in-law – regularly snuck The Good Place actress in on Saturday nights to watch the tapings. Despite not being allowed to be there and their young appearances, the friends also managed to sneak into some SNL afterparties too.

While it was usually just the two of them taking advantage of the internship, Bell also managed to sneak her best friend from back home into an afterparty one time. As if getting into an SNL afterparty wasn’t cool enough, her friend had another request: to meet Ferrell. Despite not knowing Ferrell, Bell took it upon herself to make her best friend’s dream come true and marched them both over to the comedian.

Instead of opening by introducing herself, she jumped right into things as if she was already friends with the Anchorman star. Thankfully, years of improving on Saturday Night Live was second nature to Ferrell and he “yes, and-ed” Bell, by happily playing along with her scheme. After saying hi, Bell recalls the SNL star turning to her and continuing the game by pretending to know her, too, despite not even knowing her name.

It’s too bad Ferrell wasn’t on stage to hear the story because his reaction surely would have been priceless, considering Bell is certain that he doesn’t remember the interaction at all. Hopefully, he heard it backstage.

Being a celebrity is a tricky thing. Because while it's a dream that offers exciting opportunities, it can also make one's personal life into a public matter. While not at the level of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard know this all too well, and are often refreshingly honest about what's happening with them. And recently Bell shares a parenting rule she and Shepard have related to fights. 

The pair of actors have often shared their lives warts and all. Case in point: Shepard revealing his relapse a while back. They're also honest about the difficulties of parenthood, which is endlessly relatable. When speaking with People, the Veronica Mars icon peeled back the curtain and revealed a parenting rule they live by. As she put it:

Honestly, I'm sold. Bell previously shared her secret to a happy marriage was vulnerability, and it seems that also extends to the way she and Shepard are parenting their two children. Looks like they want to model a way to resolve conflict and compromise, rather than keeping that a private aspect of the couple's relationship.

People argue, and there's nothing wrong with that. Kristen Bell doesn't seem to be placing blame on herself of Dax Shepard for that. But it's how they resolve their issues and model good behavior that is of the utmost importance. 

This is just the latest example of the celebrity couple being honest with the public about what it's actually like in their family unit. Previously, Shepard admitted they struggled during the pandemic with being trapped at home together, while Bell has been open about their use of couples therapy.

While Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard often share anecdotes about their lives as parents, they've also put up boundaries about how much they're exposed to the public. Specifically, they don't show their children's faces when posting on social media, offering them privacy in a world where both parents are public figures.

The Parks and Rec cast by itself is legendary. Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rob Lowe, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott and more served as regulars on the series for years, and to this day their characters are beloved. However, what made this show even more special was its constant stream of guest stars played by living legends. Everyone from Bill Murray to Michelle Obama to Ben Schwartz appeared on the NBC classic, and today, we’re here to talk about them. 

Paul Rudd

Now, I know we love Paul Rudd for his movies, but we also need to appreciate his brilliant work as Bobby Newport on Parks and Rec. During Season 4, the actor joined the cast to play the man running against Leslie Knope for a city council position. Overall, Bobby is childish, not smart and spoiled, and Rudd plays this silly idiot brilliantly. 

Bill Murray

Obviously, Bill Murray’s funniest roles include iconic characters like Phil Connors in Groundhog Day and Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters. However, his guest spot on Parks and Rec was unexpected and incredibly memorable. I write this because, for one episode in Season 7, the Saturday Night Live legend played Walter Gunderson, the dead mayor of Pawnee. 

Kathryn Hahn

Playing the cutthroat campaign manager Jen Barkley, Kathryn Hahn made a glorious (and a smidge evil) impact on Parks and Rec. She played a cutthroat manager who worked for Bobby Newport at first, and across ten episodes she popped in from time to time to both help and harm Leslie’s political career. 

Ben Schwartz 

Arguably, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein is one of the best recurring guest stars in Parks and Rec history. The rich boy who is friends with Tom is ridiculous, scammy and he’s constantly trying to flirt with everyone and sing whenever he can. While he’s 100% the worst, he’s also totally not “the WORRRRRRSSSSSTTTT,” if you know what I mean.  

Jenny Slate

In a stroke of perfect casting, Jenny Slate popped into Parks and Rec to play Jean-Ralphio’s sister Mona Lisa Saperstein. The siblings truly are the most chaotic duo, however, they’re also the two of the funniest extra side characters the sitcom has to offer. Just don’t fall for it when they ask for “money please!”

Henry Winkler

After getting to know Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa, we meet their father, Lu Saperstein in Season 6. Played brilliantly by Henry Winkler, the patriarch of the Saperstein family is a successful doctor who is willing to go to any financial length to help his kids. 

Sam Elliott

In the later seasons of the show, we met the Eagleton Parks Department. Ironically, each member of that crew matched up with a member of the Parks and Rec cast, and when it came to picking someone to play Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson’s counterpart, they cast Sam Elliott as Ron Dunn. While they both have legendary mustaches and an appreciation for the outdoors, that’s where the similarities stop, and seeing Ron and Anti-Ron go head-to-head was hilarious. 

Joe Biden

Leslie loves her politicians and had a massive crush on then-Vice President Joe Biden. As an engagement gift, Ben decided to give her the perfect present and prove that he’s the ideal man, by coordinating a meet and greet between Leslie and Joe Biden.

Patton Oswalt

When Leslie tries to change Pawnee’s charter to get rid of some silly laws – like throwing a Ted into a lake – Garth Blundin makes his disapproval clear. Patton Oswalt plays the historian, and he challenges Amy Poehler’s character to a filibuster and a day of living like a colonial person. Ultimately, he and Leslie find common ground, and he joins forces with her to help preserve the laws…he also volunteers to get thrown in the lake.

Michelle Obama

As Leslie tries to figure out if she should take a job at the National Parks Department and leave Pawnee, Michelle Obama comes in to tell her about why she should take it. Let’s just say if I met the First Lady, I think I’d be just as star-struck as Leslie Knope. How could you not stumble over your words if you casually bumped into the First Lady of the United States?

Bo Burnham

Some of the funniest stand-up on Netflix comes from Bo Burnham, and in his special Make Happy, he sings a “Country Song” that pokes fun at the cliches in the genre and how some artists are masters at pandering to their audiences. On Parks and Rec, he worked with that idea as well by playing country singer Chipp McCapp who Leslie and Andy tried to hire for a performance at the Unity Concert. His songs like “Beautiful Like My Mom (Support the Troops)” were truly hilarious, and they complimented the stand-up comedian's sense of humor very well. 

John McCain

Parks and Rec knows how to do a political cameo, and one of the best ones came when Leslie didn’t even realize she’d just met John McCain in a coat closet. She was so distraught over interacting with #4 and #26 on Leslie’s list of amazing women, that she didn’t even notice she was speaking with the senator. 

Megan Mullally

You know chaos mode has been activated when Ron’s second ex-wife Tammy II enters the chat. She’s constantly trying to simultaneously take Ron down and get back together with her, and his efforts to avoid it are truly hilarious. However, what really makes this dynamic duo so hysterical and one of the best recurring inside jokes on Parks and Rec is the fact that Tammy II is played by Nick Offerman’s real-life wife Megan Mullally. 

Will Forte

Amy Poehler and Will Forte were both in some of SNL’s best casts, and it was such a treat to see them reunite on Parks and Rec. In his episode, Forte played Kelly, a man who really wants to get the Twilight books put in Pawnee’s town time capsule. When Leslie refuses and then agrees, it starts an outcry over what can and can’t go in the capsule via a chaotic town meeting. 

Jon Hamm

According to Leslie, Jon Hamm’s Ed is the “most incompetent person I’ve ever worked with.” He worked for our leading lady when she was at the National Parks Department, and he was swiftly fired by her not long after we met him. 

John Cena

In an epic episode of Andy’s show, the Johnny Karate Super Awesome Musical Explosion Show, Burt Macklin, FBI, arrested John Cena – who was wearing so much of his own WWE merch – and took him to the dunk tank. Talk about a dream come true for Andy and viewers.

Keegan-Michael Key

There’s no question that all our hearts grew a few sizes when Donna married Keegan-Michael Key’s Joe. The comedian played the “Treat yo’ self’ queen’s boyfriend-turned-husband in Seasons 6 and 7, and it’s safe to say that we all adored this music teacher. 

Bradley Whitford

Considering Parks and Rec is a show about government and Rob Lowe is one of its stars, it made perfect sense for a West Wing cast member to pop into the sitcom. It was done perfectly too, because the team brought in Josh himself, as Bradley Whitford played Councilman Pillner, the man Leslie replaces on City Council and a model boat enthusiast. 

J.K. Simmons

Remember Ice Town? Well, Ben’s hometown of Partridge and J.K. Simmons’ Mayor Stice sure do. And that became clear as day when an episode of Parks went back to Adam Scott’s character’s hometown so he could get a key to the city, which ended up just being melted water in a box…because Ice Town. 

Patricia Clarkson

While Megan Mullally’s Tammy II is truly unhinged and chaotic, Tammy I is cold, calculated, and manipulative. She’s played by Patricia Clarkson, and she really adds to the hilarious chaos that is Ron Swanson’s love life. 

Andy Samberg

Back when Andy Samberg was still on Saturday Night Live and before he led his own sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he guest starred on Parks and Rec as the incredibly loud Park Ranger Carl. During Season 2, Leslie worked with Carl on a few issues of Parks security, and let's just say that she “might not be so confident, when [she has to] walk a mile in [Carl’s]  size sevens.”

In the final season of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler’s Saturday Night Live co-star Rachel Dratch appeared as Roz Pinwheel, the nanny of Leslie and Ben’s triplets. While a small role, it was such a nice (and funny) nod to the two comedians' time together on the legendary sketch comedy show.

If you were looking to get humiliated on the radio look no further than "The Douche." This hilarious and terrible radio host was played by the mastermind behind one of the best animated shows, Big Mouth, Nick Kroll, and anytime he showed up to host a radio spot on the series, you knew something wild was about to go down.

Chelsea Peretti

While Leslie ran for City Council, April filled in for her one time, and during one of her seminars Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Chelsea Peretti showed up as one of the attendees, Zelda. Fun fact: before Peretti was part of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast, she actually wrote two episodes of Parks and Rec, which helps explain her lil cameo in the series. 

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell was quite literally the perfect person to play Leslie Knope’s Eagleton councilwoman counterpart, Ingrid de Forest. It turns out, Bell was born to thrive on a comedy like this, because after Parks and Rec, she went on to lead the cast of The Good Place, which was Michael Schur’s next show after Parks.  

Dax Shepard

When Tom decides to become Andy’s manager as he works on Johnny Karate, they have a run-in with Hank Muntak, a TV executive in Pawnee who is played by Dax Shepard. Before this guest spot, the actor had spent a lot of time on NBC as one of the stars of Parenthood, these days you can find him hosting his podcast Armchair Expert. 

Will Arnett

Before Leslie meets and falls in love with Ben, she goes on some wildly terrible dates, including one with MRI technician Chris. At the time, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett were actually married (they’re divorced now), making this blind date even funnier because they were a real-life couple too. 

Sean Hayes

Bobby Wood was Indianapolis’ best talk show host, and he was played by Sean Hayes. As television appearances tend to go for Leslie and co. her interview with him didn’t exactly go well, and both comedic actors were so funny in the moment. 

Fred Armisen

You can always count on Fred Armisen to play the wildest goofy guys, and he did exactly that on Parks and Recreation. In the episode “Sister City,” the SNL vet appeared as Raul Alejandro Bastilla Pedro de Veloso de Maldonado, the Venezuelan officer who came to represent his city on a trip to Pawnee. 

Tatiana Maslany

Tom Haverford’s love life was always a funny point of interest on Parks and Rec, especially because it was only brought up occasionally. For instance, in Season 6, he had a short-lived relationship with Tatiana Maslany’s Nadia Stasky, a doctor who eventually left Pawnee and moved to Rwanda.  

Parker Posey

Indie darling Parker Posey came on to Parks and Rec to play Lindsay Carlisle Shay. The character was Leslie’s counterpart from Eagleton, meaning she was the Deputy Parks Director in Pawnee’s fancy rival town. The twist here was that Lindsay was actually Leslie’s friend and went behind her back a long time ago to take the job in Eagleton. 

Jason Schwartzman

Jason Schwartzman’s role in Parks and Rec presented an interesting issue for Pawnee when he decided to turn his video rental store into an adult store. Watching Leslie flounder as she figured out how to help the character played by the Asteroid City star was so funny, and the character of Dennis was perfect for Schwartzman.

Which Celebrities Are Big Proponents Of Ice Baths?

Lebron James

Ice baths seems to be gaining popularity across many disciplines in the entertainment industry, but cold-water immersion is probably best-known as a method of speeding up muscle recovery and reducing swelling and tissue breakdown for professional athletes. 

One of the true NBA GOATs, Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron James, has a long history with using cold temps for post-game recovery, from whole-body cryotherapy to waist-deep ice baths. Though he jokingly called the latter "borderline torture," per Business Insider, the basketball icon has regularly publicized his use of those glacial soaks after a grueling game on his Instagram. 

The Kardashian And Jenner Clan

It's not only pro athletes who seek out the bod-boosting benefits of cold plunges. Members of the Kardashian clan have famously adopted the ice-bath trend as a method of self-care, with sisters Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian all seeking out the chilly services of Remedy Place, a "social wellness club" with locations in West Hollywood and NYC's Flatiron neighborhoods. 

The wellness center reportedly does house calls, which Jenner took advantage of with a portable Remedy Place ice bath at her own home in California. 

Big sis Kourtney apparently liked the at-home treatment so much she installed her own private ice bath at her Calabasas abode with husband Travis Barker, to the tune of $7,500, reports The Sun. She even hosted an entire ice-bath activation at her brand's Poolside with Poosh event, where the reality star and her famous siblings and friends were challenged to take a dip in a barrel bath filled with icy water.

Per The Daily Mail, Kim Kardashian initially didn't enjoy the frosty sensation, jumping out of the ice bath and jokingly dubbing herself "the weakest link" of the group. However, an Instagram video proves that the SKIMs mogul would later learn to love the benefits of ice bath, as she stopped into a Remedy Place location for an icy, full six-minute dip.

Madonna

Many popular musicians, whose bodies have to withstand exhausting touring schedules and high-energy, multi-hour live performances, have also adopted the practice as a conditioning tool. 

Her "Madgesty" herself, Madonna, has been one of pop music's most enduring and dynamic entertainers for decades, and the key to that longevity might just be in the singer's dedication to her physical fitness. Post-show ice baths are one element the 65-year-old performer famously includes in her wellness regimen to help soothe any aches and pains she might have from all of those hours of intense dance choreography. 

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has long admitted to following in Madge's footsteps, and it looks like her self-care routine is no exception. Mother Monster maintains her own performance levels with a nightly post-show routine centered around a cold plunge. 

The singer broke down the post-show wellness routine she implemented during her Las Vegas concert residency, which includes what's called a "contrast bath," an icy bath alternated with a hot bath. Gaga wrote on Instagram:

The "Born This Way" singer has been candid about her struggles with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that can cause widespread pain and tenderness throughout the body. In her 2017 Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, the Oscar winner described the illness as a "cyclone of anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and panic disorder," so she could very well be utilizing the baths as much for their mental health properties as their physical benefits. 

Harry Styles

Harry Styles is also a big fan of a cold-water plunge, both out in nature and in the comfort of a private ice bath. The former boy bander has been regularly spotted by eagle-eyed fans taking frigid outdoor swims, such as at Vico Baths in South Dublin. He also has been known to employ an indoor cold plunge after getting offstage from his high-octane live performances, including his world-spanning Love on Tour gigs. He showed off his ice-bath set-up following a Cologne concert on his Instagram in June 2022. 

Lizzo

Styles' famous buddy Lizzo has also jumped on the ice-bath bandwagon, displaying her own outdoor cold plunge over on her TikTok: 

And, seeing as how she's explored nearly every wellness trend from dry brushing to oil pulling, it's not a surprise that wellness queen Gwyneth Paltrow also has a custom cold-plunge pool in her elaborate home spa in Montecito, California. 

Yet it is a surprise that, though Gwyn once sought out the "Iceman" expertise of Wim Hof to teach Goop staffers the benefits of cold therapy in her Netflix docuseries The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow, it's actually Paltrow's husband, Hollywood producer Brad Falchuk, who is the "obsessive cold plunger" in the family. 

What Do Kim K And Other Celebs Say About Ice Baths?

It's one thing to jump on a Hollywood trend, but it's another if that Hollywood trend actually works. And according to cold-plunging celebrities, they're really feeling the body benefits of ice baths. The Good Place star Kristen Bell has said that she seeks out ice baths for its help with "mental acuity and alertness throughout the day," with cold plunging shown to "increase dopamine concentrations by 250 percent."

Another set of long-time friends are former Vice President Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones. They were roommates when they attended Harvard together. At the 2000 Democratic National Convention when the party nominated Gore to be its candidate for President, Jones said in a speech,

He sang on the track because he’s been lifelong friends with Rick Moranis, who played Doug McKenzie. The two went to grade school together. 

Lauryn Hill and Zach Braff

Lauryn Hill attended Zach Braff’s bar mitzvah. You read that right. Braff told a story to Seth Meyers (whom Braff has known since college) about his bar mitzvah being “musical theater themed” and his partner in the games the kids played was none other than Ms. Lauryn Hill, who went to high school with Braff. 

Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand

Holly Hunter and Frances McDormand first met years before they both found success in Hollywood. They even roomed together in the Bronx. While they were roommates, McDormand met Joel Coen, of the Coen Brothers, and they started dating. Eventually, they would marry and Joel and Ethan Coen would cast both McDormand and Hunter in Raising Arizona, one of many roles the Coens have cast McDormand in. 

B.J. Novak and John Krasinski

B.J. Novak and John Krasinski were in the same class in high school at Newtown South High outside Boston. They were friends long before they both starred in The Office, though in high school, according to Novak, Krasinski was more of a jock, while Novak was a theater kid. Obviously, both ended up wildly successful as actors. 

Gwyneth Paltrow and Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph and Gwyneth Paltrow have been friends for years. Rudolph’s father, Richard, was best friends with Paltrow’s father, Bruce, and Maya and Gwyneth attended the same school, St. Augustine by the Sea School in Santa Monica.

Adam Sandler and director Judd Apatow famously shared an apartment in Los Angeles when they were both just starting out in the industry. Marsai Martin (Liberty)

Marsai Martin is one of the returning members of the Paw Patrol: The Movie cast, once again playing Liberty, the newest member of the Paw Patrol and leader of the Junior Patrollers in the new film.

Martin, who got her big break as Diane Johnson on the popular TV show, Black-ish, has been on a roll the past decade, landing roles in movies like Little, Spirit Untamed, and Fantasy Football. Callum Shoniker (Rocky)

Callum Shoniker, who previously voiced Rocky in Paw Patrol: The Movie, returns to play the magnetic handyman pup in the new adventure. Luxton Handspiker (Rubble)

Rounding out the core pups in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie is Luxton Handspiker, who takes on the role of the wrecking ball that is Rubble. Handspiker previously voiced the character on the spinoff series, Rubble & Crew.

Lil Rel Howery (Sam Stringer)

Sam Stringer, the TV reporter who shows up throughout Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, is voiced by Lil Rel Howery.

Howery has been all over the place in 2023 with key roles in the Vacation Friends 2 cast and The Out-Laws ensemble. He's also set to appear in movies like Dashing Through the Snow and the highly anticipated Good Burger 2. This comes after years of being in everything from Get Out to The Carmichael Show and Judas and the Black Messiah to Craig of the Creek. 

Kristen Bell (Janet)

Kristen Bell shows up in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie as Janet, the owner of the junkyard saved by the pups in the film’s opening scene. From Veronica Mars to Frozen and countless other movies and TV shows in between, Bell is a very recognizable actress in Hollywood with and incredibly well-known voice.

James Marsden (Hank)

James Marsden portrays Hank, the other owner of the junkyard saved at the beginning of Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Marsden has appeared in everything from the X-Men movies to the video game adaptation, Sonic the Hedgehog, and dozens of other movies and TV shows throughout his career, including The Boss Baby: Family Business, and most recently Jury Duty.

Chris Rock (Kitty)

Chris Rock briefly appears in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie as Kitty, after one of Mayor Humdinger’s evil cats gains the ability to speak, as seen in the movie's official trailer. The incredibly successful SNL alum is best known for his various stand-up comedy specials and movies like Down to Earth, The Longest Yard, and the Madagascar film franchise.

Kim Kardashian (Delores)

Kim Kardashian briefly appears in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, reprising her role as Delores the poodle from the first movie. Kardashian, who is also a member of the American Horror Story: Delicate cast, is also well known for the reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which was followed by The Kardashians on Hulu.

Serena Williams (Yoga Yvette)

Serena Williams is another celebrity to make a short yet noticeable appearance in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, in which she portrays Yoga Yvette, a fitness instructor. In addition to her historic tennis career, the younger Williams sister has appeared in movies like Pixels, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Ocean’s 8.

Ron Pardo (Mayor Humdinger)

Ron Pardo shows up in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, once again portraying the evildoer Mayor Humdinger. Pardo is best known for his portrayal of the Paw Patrol’s nemesis, though he has lent his voice to shows like Totally Spies, Braceface, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

The Junior Patrollers (North West, Alan Kim, Brice Gonzalez)

And then there are the Junior Patrollers Mini, Nano, and Tot, three Pomeranian pups voiced by North West, Alan Kim, Brice Gonzalez, respectively. This is West’s first film appearance, while Kim has appeared in titles like Theater Camp and Minari, and Gonzalez has been in Flamin’ Hot.

Russell Brand has been accused of sexual assault. And while he is denying all the charges against him, the backlash from the accusations has been a continual uncovering of Brand’s previous behavior which, while it doesn’t shed light on the specific allegations, is certainly not painting him in the best light. In recent days previous comments made by actress Kristen Bell about Brand’s behavior on set have returned to light as UK TV presenter Lorraine Kelly has also spoken about an on-air incident with Brand where he touched her and called her a “slut.”

Russell Brand has always been one who has tried to push limits with comedy but some of Brand’s behavior from years ago is now being looked at differently following the five different women who have made allegations against the comedian and actor.

What Kristen Bell Said To Russell Brand

Back in 2008 Kristen Bell and Russell Brand co-starred together in the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. In 2010 the Daily Mail reported that while in production, Brand had allegedly tried to make a move on Bell, who married actor Dax Shepard in 2013. Bell apparently was very clear with Brand that she was not interested, saying…

While well over a decade ago, Bell’s comments have resurfaced in the wake of the allegations against Brand. Bell does go on to say that after she set the boundaries of their relationship, the two got along well and that she enjoyed working with him on the film.

In a vacuum, the comments from Bell likely wouldn’t set off alarm bells. However, they are just the latest previous incidents to be unearthed. It's being reported that Brand was removed as a reality TV judge in 2018 due to a conflict with another judge surrounding similar allegations at the time. A 2013 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon recently came to light where Brand asked Katherine McPhee to sit on his lap. McPhee has brushed off the incident, but a UK TV presenter is talking about her own talk show altercation with Brand a little differently.

What Russell Brand Said To Lorraine Kelly 

Lorraine Kelly, host of the UK morning show Lorraine, has recently spoken about a 2007 appearance on The Graham Norton Show. Brand puts his hand on her thigh and asks if she’s wearing suspenders (stockings), before later referring to her as a “slut." Speaking about the incident on her show (via The Sun) Kelly said… 

Kelly says now the incident made her feel quite uncomfortable. She says she interviewed Brand herself multiple times over the course of several years and says he was unusually "charming" and "flirty."

Four women came forward earlier this week as part of a joint UK media investigation. Two of the women have accused Brand of assault and two have accused him of rape. Brand has made a public statement in which he denies all charges and claims the relationships with the women were consensual.
