One way of convincing gamers to get on the ball and try a game is to give them a reason to play the game beyond the initial one of it just releasing on a random platform. For instance, some people may own an Xbox One and PC but may not be inclined to buy certain games for one platform or the other, only being willing to buy a game if it's compatible across both. Well, Capcom just applied the latter condition to Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, which has become an Xbox Play Anywhere title and received a price drop from $59.99 down to $39.99.

Over on the Microsoft Store, you can purchase a copy of Capcom's 2017 outing of Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite and play it on a Windows 10 compatible PC or switch over and start playing it on an Xbox One system, including the Xbox One S or Xbox One X. Originally, the game did not feature Play Anywhere support, but now it does. Additionally, the base game has received a price reduction while the deluxe edition can now be picked up for $59.99.

At the top of the store page it now firmly displays a tag that says "Xbox Play Anywhere."

What this means is that any Xbox or Windows 10 compatible device can play Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite... anywhere where you can access your Xbox Live or Windows Live account.

Microsoft started the Xbox Play Anywhere feature as a way to consolidate the experiences across its gaming platforms. Oftentimes, when gamers would buy games on PC they would then have to buy that same game again on Xbox.

Sony fixed this problem by starting the cross-buy feature, allowing a lot of PS Vita and PS3 gamers to buy a game on one platform and then play it on the other. Sony then extended the cross-buy from PS Vita to PS4, allowing gamers to buy a game on the handheld but play it on the PS4 or to buy a game on the PS4 and then access it on their handheld.

Microsoft decided to follow in the footsteps of Sony and provide gamers with the Play Anywhere feature for Xbox and Windows games. It probably would have been a much sweeter deal if there was a portable Xbox gaming system, but I guess most gamers will be fine settling for playing between PC and Xbox home consoles.

As for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, this could be Capcom's way to renew interest in the game. It didn't quite capture the hearts and minds of gamers the way titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ have, and the engagement was so low that it didn't make the cut for this year's EVO 2018 tournament series. So, attempting to get people interested in buying the game with a Play Anywhere promotion is a solid way to raise awareness and possible interest in the crossover fighting game.

One of the big reasons that the game didn't quite take off was because it lacked some of the most popular characters in the series, including all of the X-Men, characters like The Punisher and Daredevil, along with various other fan-favorites who were present in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Anyway, Capcom isn't done with the DLC offerings for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, so it's still possible that the X-Men might make an appearance. If they do, at least you'll be able to Play Anywhere whether you have a PC or Xbox One.

The latest DLC pack for the game includes fan-favorites such as the Winter Soldier and Black Widow.

The new characters were put on display in the new trailer that revealed that the next DLC pack for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will arrive on December 5th for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and on Steam for PC. The character pack contains Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Venom.

The trailer starts with Winter Soldier rolling out his combos, moves and special abilities. We see him utilizing a wide range of attacks, including grenades, his assault rifle for long-range zoning, and unleashing a devastating uppercut using his bionic arm.

One thing worth noting is that unlike the dragon uppercut from Ryu, Winter Soldier's uppercut propels opponents all the way up and across the side of the screen, opening them up for an extra splash of air-juggle damage.

Winter Soldier also has some really cool specials. In addition to another super uppercut that does special damage, he also has the ability to counter-absorb attacks. For anyone who watched Captain America: Civil War you may recognize the scene where Iron Man used the repulsor against the Winter Soldier and he attempted to crush the power core while absorbing the blast with his arm. Well, in this case, you can absorb projectiles with the Winter Soldier's arm in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Warfare, and actually inch closer to your foes. Pulling off a driving attack to close the distance thereafter makes the Winter Soldier even more dangerous because it means just about any projectile attack from an opponent becomes punishable once he absorbs the attack.

Some gamers criticized that Winter Soldier seems to play out a lot like a faster, super-powered version of Chris from Resident Evil. The major problem with this is that Chris is already on the roster.

After about half a minute of Winter Soldier kicking butt and taking names, we get a glimpse at Black Widow. Unlike Winter Soldier, they didn't base Black Widow on her MCU incarnation, but instead sort of created an odd mixture between the comic book and Capcom's own take on the character.

Black Widow is an extremely fast and nimble character. She has an entertaining fighting style that moves and flows almost all across the screen with the ability to chain neutrals into technicals, and from technicals into air juggles, and from juggles into grabs, and back again. She's like Spider-Man without the web. It's pretty obvious Black Widow has a really high skill ceiling, but for players who master her, she's going to be extremely dangerous. Expect her to be popular in the FGC tournament scene.

The trailer rounds out with the anti-villain Venom. His attacks and combos are a mix of the agility-infused expectations one would have for the symbiote-based character, but his large size also opens up some devastating power-based attacks as well. A lot of gamers didn't like his voice-over lines in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite because they felt he sounded too much like Carnage instead of how Venom typically sounds.

You'll be able to play as the characters on December 5th if you have the season pass. You can get a hold of the pass via purchasing the deluxe edition of the game, as outlined on the game's website. Alternatively, you can wait and buy the characters separately.

Capcom's Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite isn't without its own surprises. In fact, it was recently revealed that the two-on-two fighting game has a special new costume you can unlock for Spider-Man. The Superior Spider-Man outfit can be earned for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game pretty easily, by purchasing a digital copy of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Eventhubs is reporting that all you have to do is either purchase an HD digital copy of Spider-Man: Homecoming from either the PlayStation Store for the PS4 or from the Micorsoft Movies digital storefront for the Xbox One. By doing so you'll be given a code to access the Superior Spider-Man outfit in _Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. _

You'll have to purchase the movie before October 24th, 2017 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time. You'll also only have up until November 30th, 2017 to retrieve the code. So if you want the costume you'll have to work fast and pick up the HD version of the digital movie for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

So what does the Superior Spider-Man costume do? Well, it features additional tentacle-like tendrils protruding from the back of Spider-Man and his costume is slightly altered.

Beyond that, the costume is just another alt for Spider-Man in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Some people who may not be keen on paying for a digital copy of a movie they have no intentions of seeing aren't entirely thrilled at the idea of having to go through that process just to unlock a new costume for a character in a fighting game.

Traditionally in fighting games if you wanted to unlock a new costume for a character you would have to complete a specific set of objectives, such as winning so many matches, or not losing HP during a certain bout, or unlocking some other kind of achievement.

These days unlocks are usually done through pre-order bonuses, deluxe edition purchases, microtransactions, retailer exclusive DLC, or in this case buying a completely separate product in order to access a character costume in a fighting game.

Some people, however, are excited about the costume and the movie tie-in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That was actually one of the biggest criticisms from reviewers about Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite -- essentially a lot of reviewers felt as if Disney's marketers had a little too much sway in the content roll out of the fighting game. It's hard to deny the fact that the roster is strongly influenced by Marvel's current and upcoming movie roll-out, with a majority of the focus of the roster being on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as opposed to the characters and fan-favorites from the comic books and cartoons, which is how Capcom originally put together the roster.

Some fans are a little worried about whether or not they'll be able to purchase the costume separate from the Spider-Man: Homecoming film. A few of the gamers in the comment sections and Twitter threads noted that they would be willing to pay for the outfit as a microtransaction from the cash shop.

Don't be shocked if Capcom adds the costume to a bundle pack at some point in the near future that gamers will be able to download. For now, the only way to get the Superior Spider-Man costume is by purchasing a digital copy of the Spider-man flick.

In fact, one of the biggest complaints about the game is that the roster is rather thin. These complaints carried over into the comment section where people complained that the DLC characters are a bit too expensive for their tastes.

Others, however, are excited about the new female fighter from Monster Hunter and can't wait to play her in the game.

This isn't the first time that the character was even introduced to the fighting game community. Capcom had announced a handful of DLC characters ahead of the launch of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.

The DLC characters were also teased during the story mode, where we saw the Monster Hunter and Black Panther. The King was worried about protecting his people, where-as the Monster Hunter was apparently one of his guards. It almost made sense given that there were giant monsters roaming around outside the kingdom and the Monster Hunter was there to... well, hunt them.

Players were unable to play as Black Panther or the Monster Hunter in the story mode of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, but the characters will be available as separate purchases or as part of the season pass.

Some have been arguing that this DLC setup seems reminiscent of Street Fighter X Tekken, where the DLC was already stored on the disc and gamers simply had to pay money to unlock the characters already on the disc. Others argue that the DLC isn't finished yet and that it isn't cut content.

Regardless where you fall on the debate, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is currently available right now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You can learn more about the DLC schedule by visiting the official website.

This has turned out to be a pretty stellar year for fighting games and, despite some early misgivings, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite doesn't buck that trend. While the package is a bit barebones, you'll find everything you need to make some cross-universe dream teams and then kick the stuffing out of your opponents.

In case the game's name didn't give it away, the Marvel universe's all-powerful Infinity Stones beat at the heart of this latest crossover fighter, both in terms of the campaign's story and the fighting engine.

And that fighting engine is where Infinite shines the brightest. It would have been easy for Capcom to just slap on a fresh coat of paint, introduce a couple of new characters and maybe tweak a mechanic or two and call it a day. Instead, they've altered things enough so that even series vets will have some learning to do. But once they've mastered the basics, there's enough meat on this brawler's bones to seriously reward dedication.

For starters, I don't think any of the returning cast plays exactly like their past iterations, so there are plenty of new moves, combos, and abilities to discover. Secondly, teams are now just 2v2 rather than 3v3, which means you'll have to change up some old strategies and experiment with team makeup.

Also gone are the assist moves from previous Marvel vs. Capcom games. Instead, you can now tag your teammate in freely but, instead of just swapping out, this can actually be used as a combo extender. If you get a pummeling going with one character and tag in your teammate, that original combo will keep going while you're put in control of the fresh combatant. You can either try to rush in and add to the damage, or wait for the first combo to close as you leap in at the right moment to continue the juggle.

Along with choosing a team, you also have to pick one of six Infinity Stones before heading into a match, which will grant you a couple of extra abilities. Each stone boasts an Infinity Surge and an Infinity Storm, both governed by an Infinity Gauge at the bottom of the screen. So long as you have some gas in the tank, you can use your stone's Surge ability. Build up enough levels in the gauge and you can trigger a Storm. The Mind Stone, for instance, instantly dazes your opponent if you trigger its Surge. Its Storm, though, keeps recharging your Hyper Meter, which means you can fire off your more powerful moves in quick succession. The Reality stone, on the other hand, has a Surge that simply fires a slow-moving projectile and a Storm that gives each controller button an elemental boost. The trick here is figuring out how to best use these stones to complement both your strengths as a player and the strengths of the team you've selected.

If any of that sounded confusing, you shouldn't be scared off from giving Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite a try. Capcom also included a couple of new systems intended to introduce new players to the game. The Easy Combo system means that you can simply tap on the light attack button in order to perform a mid-level combo that deals some decent damage while also looking flashy. And then there's the Easy Hyper Combo system, which lets you trigger a meatier series of attacks by simply pushing two buttons at the same time. That's a welcome addition to get new players into the game and, yes, both can be turned off.

Once you've got the hang of things, you'll find the usual assortment of modes and activities to punch and kick your way through. The Arcade Mode lets you tackle a series of fights capped off by a boss encounter while Vs. Mode lets you go toe-to-toe with a couch companion, online or against the computer. There's also a Training Mode with customizable parameters to try out new fighters and combos, as well as a Mission Mode that includes a series of general tutorials and a set of 10 challenges for each of the game's playable characters. These start off easy enough and quickly ramp up to pro-level maneuvers.

Finally, there's the game's fast and fun Story Mode. Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma from the Capcom Universe have fused into a new robotic nemesis called Ultron Sigma. By doing this, they've also fused their own worlds into a single entity, which is why folks like Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter and Devil May Cry's Dante are rubbing elbows with members of The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. The campaign is basically some light-hearted fan fiction that shows off a lot of fun team-ups and makes goofy, but appreciated, inside jokes. It's a lot of fun seeing these characters thrown together, even if the story never really goes anywhere unexpected.

And speaking of those characters, Infinite offers a roster of 30 combatants, 15 each from the titular universes. That might seem a bit slim by Marvel vs. Capcom standards, but there's some good variety in the lineup that should accommodate just about any playstyle. Still, I can't pretend I don't miss characters like Wolverine or Amaterasu, but Capcom wanted to put the focus on some of their more well-known characters and Marvel's cinematic universe.

Also smashed together are the game's stages. Xgard, for instance, blends elements from Thor's Asgard and Mega Man X's Abel City. And then there's Valkanda, which smooshes together Black Panther's Wakanda and Val Habar from Monster Hunter. Sadly, most of the maps are just different areas pulled from a few of those couplings, so I would have really liked to see even more creative amalgams in the mix.

But while the engine is solid and the campaign is a fun way to spend a few hours, it's hard not to find the entire package of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite a little lacking. The visuals aren't as striking as previous comic-inspired renditions, the UI and soundtrack are lackluster and, while the available modes are adequate, it doesn't feel like any effort was put into bringing the series on par with other great fighters of this generation.

Had Infinite come out at the start of 2017, I probably wouldn't even have this complaint. But now we live in a world where both Injustice 2 and Tekken 7 exist, fighting games that also nailed all of the basics and then went several extra miles to create new modes, systems, online functionality and gameplay hooks to elevate the genre as a whole. By comparison, Infinite just doesn't stack up.

Taken on its own merits, though, this latest entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series is solid. There may not be much razzle-dazzle outside of its basic offerings, but at least those offerings are driven by a wonderfully refreshed fighting system and matches that are just a hell of a lot of fun to play. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite might not become the genre's undisputed champ, but it definitely puts up a good fight.

This review based on a PlayStation 4 downloaded copy provided by the publisher.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is finally out in the wild, boasting a roster of 30 characters split between those two universes. But, this being a modern fighting game, you better believe some DLC characters will be made available in the coming months. Capcom has confirmed six new fighters will eventually join the fray, including Monster Hunter, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Venom, Black Panther and Sigma.

This news comes to us via Eurogamer, who got word from Capcom concerning four of the DLC characters slated to arrive in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Two of those characters, Black Panther and Sigma, were already known quantities. Capcom already confirmed that duo a while back and, once you get to digging into the story mode, you'll even see them make an appearance. Black Panther is an obvious pull due to his upcoming movie by the same name, and Sigma is one of the big bads in the game that gets fused with Ultron. In case that character is new to you, he's the main baddie in the Mega Man X series from Capcom.

As for the rest of the DLC roster, we're pretty excited to see these characters join the fray. Having played the game for a few hours, my mind is already spinning with ideas for how characters like Venom and Monster Hunter will control. And you can never really go wrong with a duo like Winter Soldier or Black Widow, either. For clarification, Monster Hunter is exactly what that sounds like; a monster hunter from the Capcom series by the same name. Word is that this will be a female character capable of pulling out all sorts of iconic weapons and gear from the series.

If you want to add all of those characters to the game, it looks like the DLC bundle will be going for about $30, as that's the price difference between the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. That version will also include a premium costume for each of those characters. If you're especially flush with cash, you can also grab the Collector's Edition, which includes four character statues and a box containing the Infinity Stones that drive the game's story.

Assuming those six characters will be the only DLC additions to the game, that puts the Infinite roster at 36 total characters. However, you may have noticed that this will leave the Marvel side with two more combatants than the Capcom side. We honestly wouldn't be surprised if, six months from now, a second series of DLC characters were announced that will even things out. That's all speculation, though.

So what do you think of the current full roster, readers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Capcom's Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite is due out on Tuesday, September 19th, but the reviews have gone up early for Capcom's newest cross-over fighting game featuring a delectable smorgasbord of pugilists across both Marvel and Capcom's universes. Here's what the critics think about the game.

For some of the long-running sites like Game Informer, the outlet offered a mostly positive take on the game, but did also state how the story is more filler than anything else...

The narrative does a good job pulling characters from both side of the fence together for a race to collect the Infinity Gems. The story is largely filler, but features a few fun bits of fan service [...]Unfortunately, these amusing moments are few and far between, and most of the narrative is filled with tired quips and lots of grandstanding.

Some of the other reviews aren't quite as forgiving of the game, nor are they particularly enthused about Capcom's latest cross-over effort. For instance, one of the lowest scoring reviews posted came from Games Radar, where the outlet had very few nice things to say about the new cross-over title.

As noted in the Games Radar tweet, the game came across as disjointed and incoherent in the way the story was told. Worse yet was that the review on the states that the character models aren't very appealing, the fights are far slower than Marvel vs Capcom 3, and that the roster is no where near as good as Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Bill Rosemann, the executive producer at Marvel Games, was a lot more optimistic about the game thanks to ComicBook's review, where the outlet was quoted for their positive vibes on the fighter.

The review makes it known that the game is designed for newcomers, and gone is the 3-vs-3 and illustrious line-up of all sorts of cool and wacky characters from both Capcom's and Marvel's deep catalog of intellectual properties.

One thing that seems to be a recurring theme throughout most of the reviews is that the game plays really smoothly and is extremely easy to dive into for newcomers. Metro Gaming hammers this point home in its review, where it's half-loving the intuitiveness of the controls and gameplay, but also equally harsh on the story mode and the limited roster that the reviewer attributes to the curation of "marketers" and "lawyers".

The game's story mode hints at several new DLC characters, including Black Panther and a character from Monster Hunter, but it's a poor show all round and makes it very hard to refute accusations that Capcom has just copied and pasted characters over from the last game. [...]It all smacks of laziness and/or a lack of budget, but we suspect that most of these roster decisions were taken by lawyers and marketing people. Because despite what the line-up suggests this is a game that's been made with a lot of love.

In the end, though, Metro still gave the game a rather glowing review score of 8 out of 10, citing that the "uninspired" line-up was a bust but the game is, overall, fun and highly accessible.

Shacknews seemed to sum up all the frustration, praise, adoration, and criticisms into a succinct paragraph that wraps up all the talk surrounding Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, noting that it still pales to its previous outings in the content department, but is fun and enjoyable, nonetheless...

While the single-player content feels phoned in, Infinite's multiplayer is enough to make it feel worthwhile. The Infinity Stone mechanic also helps it stand out, with enough variety to keep it from feeling like a tacked-on gimmick. It certainly has its shortcomings, but if Capcom can keep the roster growing, Infinite stands to have a good, long shelf life ahead of it.

With a cast of 30 playable characters, a story mode, arcade mode, online mode and training modes, Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite is available this week for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. So, what do you think about the critics' summation of the game? Did they get it right or are they way off?

We're only about a week out from the launch of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite so, to make sure fans are good and ready to pick up a copy, Capcom has released a trailer showing off all four of the game's pre-order bonus costumes, two of which are related to the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As you can see in the above video, a quartet of characters is getting pre-order skins for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. The tricky part here is that you'll need to pre-order the appropriate version of the game if you want to nab them all. Yes, that's pretty lame, but here are the details for those who feel so inclined.

If you pre-order either the standard or deluxe version of MvCI, you'll get your hands on the Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu premium costumes. The Warrior Thor outfit is an obvious shout out to the upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok, while longtime fans of Street Fighter will instantly recognize the evil version of series staple, Ryu. Our understanding is that the alternate outfits might cause some of the characters to have alternate animations in the middle of battle, so that's a nice little twist. Don't worry, though, as it's all cosmetic. A move may look different, but it's functionally identical to the standard version.

Finally, there's the Command Mission X outfit for Mega Man and the Gladiator Hulk outfit that, again, is pulled from the upcoming Thor film. If you want those two outfits, then you'll need to plop down $89.99 for the Deluxe Edition of this latest Marvel vs. Capcom game. It also contains a steelbook case and a 2017 Character Pass that will unlock six additional DLC fighters and their premium costumes.

If you've got especially deep pockets, though, then you'll want to pick up the Collector's Edition for $199.99. That'll net you all of the goodies from the Deluxe edition, as well as a collection of four statues boasting the likeness of Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Chun-Li and X. You'll also get a special box to store all of that stuff, as well as a case containing the six Infinity Stones that light up. Whether or not any of that is worth the money is entirely up to you.

As noted above, we're not too far out from this latest Marvel vs. Capcom game actually launching. It'll arrive for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam on Sept. 19. If you're still on the fence, there's a demo available on each of those platforms.

We'd be interested in your thoughts concerning these pre-order bonuses in the comments below. Whether you want to talk about their design or the specific pre-order practices at work here, the floor is now yours.

The Chinese super-cop took a pretty huge step backward from her previous incarnations, but after being pelted with incessant criticisms about it, Capcom has finally fixed Chun-Li's face.

Twitter user DBZanto compared the two images between the previously released trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and the latest trailer that Capcom just released. We see that Chun-Li now has a face similar to how she's been visually depicted in past Street Fighter and other Marvel vs Capcom games.

As you can see, the image on the left was from the older build, where Chun-Li had a shorter nose, a slightly more rotund circumference, and barely-there eyebrows. Her eyes were also more circular in the older build of the game. For the newer build you can see that her face definitely closely resembles how she typically looks in most Street Fighter games.

The funny thing about it is that the newest trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite that Capcom released showcased four more characters in action from the roster, including Ghost Rider, Dormammu, Jedah and Firebrand. The characters each showcase their skills and abilities in the trailer, with Ghost Rider getting a rather impressive re-introduction into the game. Obviously he's been mirrored after the more recent cinematic incarnations of the character.

However, few people are talking about the new characters, or the fact that the in-game story for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite teases yet another Civil War-style arc between Captain America and Iron Man, the latter of whom seems to be thoroughly designed to mimic the mannerisms and vocal characteristics of Robert Downey Jr. Why the tease of the break-up between Captain America and Tony Stark? Well, the Cap wants to free Thanos in order to defeat Ultron Sigma, but Iron Man is against it.

None of that matters so long as Chun-Li's face has been fixed.

Previous to the new and improved face, a couple of weeks ago, Capcom acknowledged that Chun-Li's face would be fixed in the retail version of the game via a day-1 patch. So, the face you see above on the right will need to be added in via a day-1 patch, since the fix came after the original certified build, according to Capcom.

This was addressed after some game journalists explicitly brought this to the attention of a Capcom producer back at the end of June, and producer Michael Evans mentioned that the team would look into fixing Chun-Li's face.

It was a common complaint amongst a lot of gamers, in addition to a few other major concerns, including the game's rather bland art-style, which some feel is a step back from the moving-comic-book art-style that was used in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. But, at least we finally have a better look for Chun-Li's face.

Capcom: Infinite, one of which will be familiar to anybody who saw the Doctor Strange movie. Get ready to go toe-to-toe with Dormammu as well as Firebrand.

While a nice chunk of the Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite roster has already been revealed by Capcom, the developer has been taking their sweet time pulling back the curtain fully, revealing the remaining combatants piece meal. While some characters were already assumed to be in the game due to a recent data mine, it looks like Capcom still has a few surprises up its sleeve. The latest offerings, for instance, are Dormammu and Firebrand. The former was one of the leaked fighters while the latter was not currently even rumored to be in the upcoming game.

If you're a big fan of Dr. Strange, this duo of baddies will likely have you pretty excited. They've appeared in previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games, but the potential of new move sets always make a returning character a welcome sign.

As has been the case with most of the Marvel side of this particular roster, the duo is tied to a character who recently enjoyed some silver screen love and will be returning in the upcoming Avengers flicks. Apparently Dr. Strange and Spider-Man are going to spend quite a bit of time together in the new films, so there's something to look forward to.

Anyway, this duo brings the confirmed roster for Infinite to 30, as Gameinformer reminds us, and they'll both be on display very soon. In fact, Dormammu and Firebrand will take center stage during Gamescom in Germany later this month, with gameplay being shown off on Aug. 22.

As for their reveal, it came as a variant cover for the recent Spider-Man vs. Deapool comic #20. It makes sense Marvel would want to reveal characters in this manner, so we'll have to keep our eye on the "New Arrivals" wall in the coming weeks to see if they've got any other revelations ready for print.

While we'll be getting characters like Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man and Thor on the Marvel side of the equation, the Capcom roster is once again all over the place. Expect to control Arthur from Ghosts 'n' Goblins, Chris Redfield from Resident Evil, Dante from Devil May Cry and Nathan Spencer from Bionic Commando, just to name a few.

Remaining data mined characters who have not been confirmed include Monster Hunter (from the identically-named series) on the Capcom side, alongside Marvel's Ghost Rider, Venom and Winter Soldier.

The game sees plenty of returning faces from the previous titles, as well as all new characters set to fill out the roster. Four of those characters have just been revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, including Spider-Man, Frank West, Nemesis and Haggar.

During this year's Marvel panel there was a brief trailer clocking in at almost two minutes featuring gameplay of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. The trailer revealed four new characters being added to the roster following up on the recent news that was just recently dropped at this year's EVO last weekend. The four new characters include Frank West from the Dead Rising series, the comic book version of Spider-Man, Mike Haggar from Final Fight and the Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.

The trailer showcased Spider-Man teaming up with Frank West, unleashing some brand new attacks and special moves, even combining some devastating explosive attacks from a few of his arch nemesis like the Hobgoblin as he pummeled on Mike Haggar.

If you were hoping for the costume design from Spider-Man: Homecoming, you're fresh out of luck. But, knowing Capcom, it just might be added as post-release DLC in a costume pack for like $14.99.

The trailer also showcased the Nemesis and Frank West throwing down some moves, along with the characters that were on display from EVO earlier this week. YouTuber NR_Chris managed to capture some off-screen footage on his phone, depicting all of the new characters' moves, combos and special abilities.

This follows up on the EVO outing of Jedah from Darkstalkers and both Gamora and Thanos from Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanos wasn't that much of a surprise given that he was featured in the opening intro cinematic for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, but it's nice to see that it appears as if the Guardians will be rounded out with another member. It's a shame that four-on-four matches weren't the standard, otherwise it would have been rad having Drax, Star-Lord, Rocket and Gamora on a team.

The current reveals from San Diego Comic-Con so far coincide with the leaked roster list from last month, which appeared shortly after the game's appearance at E3 this past year.

According to Eventhubs, if the reveals have been consistent with the roster leak so far, we're supposed to be getting a reveal for Ant-Man next. There are also rumors that Venom could also make the list as a DLC character, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Some people are a little disappointed in the list because it's a far-cry from the amount of Marvel and Capcom heroes and villains featured in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Some suspect that the roster reflects more of Marvel's bid to have Capcom feature MCU characters over the comic book-only or television characters, which would be a real shame because that means no Daredevil, no Punisher, no Blade, and no Ghost Rider. Hopefully we'll get to see some of the fan-favorites from the previous games (especially the X-Men) make a return at some point in the future, maybe in a Super Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite release?

You can look for the crossover fighting game to launch for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC starting September 19th.

It has become customary for fighting game rosters to be revealed slowly over the months leading up to said game's launch. It's also become customary for those rosters to be leaked online before the studio has made all of the details official. That may have just happened for the upcoming Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.

Over on Neogaf, poster Ryce has revealed the supposed list of characters set to appear in the upcoming Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Ryce notes that their list is incomplete, missing one Capcom character and posing a guess that it'll be someone like Frank West. Otherwise, here are the heroes, villains and everything in between that will supposedly appear in the upcoming fighter.

Capcom:

Arthur

Chris

Chun-Li

Dante

Firebrand

Jedah

Monster Hunter

Morrigan

Nemesis

Ryu

Spencer

Strider Hiryu

X

Marvel:

Ant-Man

Captain America

Captain Marvel

Doctor Strange

Gamora

Hawkeye

Hulk

Iron Man

Nova

Rocket/Groot

Spider-Man

Thanos

Thor

Ultron

There's a lot to digest here. For starters, Ryce's roster (minus the one missing Capcom character) matches up with Capcom's stated roster of 28 characters, though more are expected to be added as DLC. Also worth noting is the fact that Ryce's roster matches up with the implied focus of the game. The name is Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, which ties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the upcoming movie, Avengers: Infinity War. If you take a look at the Marvel roster, all of the characters are a big part of that cinematic universe rather than the characters we traditionally see in these Marvel vs Capcom games. You'll notice that fan favorites like Wolverine (or any X-Men member) is absent, as well as any members of groups like The Fantastic Four. Every character is part of the Marvel movie scene, which seems to give this rumor a bit more weight.

Ryce also notes in their post that Rocket/Groot is the character name they were given, implying what we originally theorized following the Rocket trailer from a few weeks back; that Groot will either be a part of his special move arsenal or that they'll fight as a duo character.

As for the Capcom side, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to who is included, though we're open to your own theories in the comments below.

Again, we want to stress that this is all a rumor at this point, but Ryce is known for their accuracy when it comes to these Marvel vs Capcom leaks.

We'll wait and see what Capcom says about all of this but, assuming the roster is accurate, what are your thoughts? Anyone you'll be missing from previous games in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and, on the flip side, anyone new you're excited to try out? Let us know in the comments below.

The very first story trailer has dropped for the upcoming Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, the fourth game in the highly praised crossover series that sees some of Capcom's best doing battle with some of Marvel's strongest. The trailer is two minutes of pure excitement.

The new promo piece was posted up over on the official Marvel vs Capcom YouTube channel. It's kind of odd it wasn't on the official Capcom channel and it wasn't on the official Marvel channel, but I suppose they want to raise the mind share of the Marvel vs Capcom brand, and what better way to do that than to open up an official YouTube channel for it? Besides, this also gives them an ample amount of opportunities to use the channel to help foster and grow the eSports scene for the FGC. A lot of gamers will likely subscribe and stay tuned in for details on DLC, new characters and new modes, as well as content coming out of the local, regional and international tournament scene.

The two minute trailer drops us into a segment with Ultron and Sigma teaming up together to hatch a plot to exterminate life on Earth.

For those of you unfamiliar, Ultron was recently a featured villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He originally comes from the Iron Man universe. Sigma is probably a lot less recognizable to most gamers and pop culture fans, but he's one of the main villains from the Mega Man X series.

For die-hard fans, they called it a while back, noting that the main villain in the teaser trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite looked like a cross between Ultron and Sigma. It turns out that they fuse together and attempt to acquire the Infinity Stones in order to carry out their plan.

It actually makes a ton of sense now why the original announcement trailer was centered so much around Mega Man X. Some fans had noted that it seemed like it would focus on X as the main protagonist, and that definitely seems to be the case.

In fact, the original trailer's focus on Iron Man and Captain Marvel also seems to point to their heavy involvement with the story as well, since it involves cross-dimensional cosmic villainy. I suspect Carol Danvers and X will likely end up carrying the story due to her heavy involvement with the cosmos, and it seems like they might acquire the services of Tony Stark due to his involvement with Ultron.

The cinematic basically shows how Ultron Sigma attempts to take over both dimensions, and basically lays a beat down on most of the heroes. Apparently, there will be additional story trailers to introduce characters strong enough to challenge Sigma... maybe? We do know that they will be getting some help from the Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

The trailer hasn't been receiving the most love due to the announcement of six characters being locked behind a DLC paywall before they even announced the full roster. Some people think it's Street Fighter x Tekken all over again, while others are saying it's no different than Tekken 7 or Injustice 2.

Anyway, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is due for release on September 19th.

Marvel Games has a lot of plates spinning at partner development studios right now, but keeping everything moving is apparently an easier task than you might think. Despite the fact that many of these games are using popular IPs from the comics and movie space, they're not being treated as canon or held to any particular deadline.

All of that sounds like fantastic news to us, as it sounds like Marvel Games have learned more than a few lessons from years upon years of superhero games and games based on popular movie franchises turning out mediocre in the end. Creative Director Bill Rosemann had a chat with IGN during DICE 2017, where he laid out all of the plans for handling games set in the Marvel universe. Assuming they actually stick to these claims, it sounds like said games are being given all of the room they could possibly need to shine, so long as, you know, they were good to begin with.

In the DICE conversation, Rosemann explained that not only are all of these upcoming Marvel Games being kept separate of other Marvel universes, but they're not being held to any sort of strict release date. In other words, they're trying to give the studios everything they need to instead focus on telling the story they want to tell, while having the time necessary to get a solid final product to market. Rosemann compared the studios to chefs working in the kitchen, adding that Marvel Games wanted them to have all of the "ingredients" necessary to put together a memorable meal.

What that translates to for gamers is the a bunch of Marvel games coming from a bunch of different studios with no particular goal in mind outside of being rad. There's already a pretty impressive list forming, including the Spider-Man game being developed by Insomniac for PlayStation 4, the Guardians of the Galaxy game being developed by Telltale, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, which is obviously being developed by Capcom, and the Square Enix game focused on The Avengers, which is apparently only one of several games the developer will be making within the Marvel universe.

As Bill Rosemann points out, these are all leveraging current popular Marvel properties, but they aren't directly tied to other projects under their unique umbrellas. He used the white logo on Spider-Man's suit in the Insomniac game as an example, saying that's basically a visual indicator that it's doing its own thing.

Rather than tell developers their games need to tie into the ongoing movies or be timed to come out alongside a film (or worse yet, be a retelling of said film), developers are instead being given a property like The Avengers and being asked to tell their own stories in that world.

The same goes for timing, according to Bill Rosemann. Rather than say "this game needs to come out the week of the film," developers are on no set schedule. In other words, the games will hopefully launch when they are ready.

What better way to say goodbye to the previous year than to examine what makes us most excited about the upcoming year?

In the realm of gaming, there's definitely a lot of software on our radar that has us very excited about what lies around the corner. From open-world action games to sprawling sci-fi dramas, to retro reboots, 2017 could house some major blockbusters and worthwhile sleeper hits. So without further ado, here are our 10 most anticipated games of 2017.

Prey

It's hard to get an idea of what this reboot of Arkane Studios' Prey is going to be like. They've definitely tried something new by making the main character, Morgan Yu, a unisex protagonist. Whether or not this changes the actual development of the story remains to be seen, but it was an interesting choice by the developers, nonetheless. There's still a lot we don't know about the game, but they did reveal some cool features such as being able to possess and turn into objects, create new pathways using a platform-gun and coming up with emergent problem solving. It's one of the few games where the gameplay features make it an interesting and highly anticipated title for 2017.

Sonic Mania

PagodaWest Games is getting a crack at making an official Sonic game after first working on some fan-made projects within the gaming community. Since Sega hasn't been doing too well with putting out quality Sonic The Hedgehog games, they decided to let some die-hard fans have a crack at it. The result is Sonic Mania, an old-school throwback to 16-bit Genesis games featuring FM synthesized music, all new stages, and remastered stages from the original Sonic The Hedgehog trilogy. Fans are ecstatic to see the blue speedster make a return to form when Sonic Mania releases in early 2017 for home consoles and PC.

Crackdown 3

The first Crackdown was a breakthrough in open-world games, fusing physics-based destruction with super hero antics. Well, the third game seems to be getting back to its roots, but with the added benefit physics-based features provided by today's high-end tech. We're still not entirely sure just how much destruction can be caused in the final sandbox, but a lot of gamers are interested to see what they do with the game.

For Honor

Ubisoft gets a lot of flak for a lot of reasons, but For Honor was one of the few decisions they've made that received tons of praise given that we don't get a lot of serious sword-based fighting games. For Honor features both a single-player campaign mode featuring the Samurai, Knights and Vikings, as well as a variety of competitive multiplayer modes. Improved graphics, new playable characters and a few heroes that Marvel would likely want to see spotlighted to tie in with their cinematic universe is sure to make Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite one of the big sellers for 2017.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Who doesn't like robo-dinos? This means that there are no guns, but instead techno-spears and makeshift bows that can be used to hunt down the robo-saurs. The open-world nature of the game and completely different take on stealth and boss fights have made this PS4 exclusive one of the more hotly anticipated games of 2017.

Resident Evil 7

Yet another Capcom game on the list! However, they're taking on a fresh start with Mass Effect: Andromeda with a whole new cast and crew, plenty of new features to dabble in, worlds to visit and unique new characters to meet. The game has been promoted heavily as a native PS4 Pro title, and promises to bring back exploration and adventure similar to the original Mass Effect. The return of one of the more popular franchises from the seventh gen has easily made the game one of the more anticipated titles due out for home consoles and PC in 2017.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo's next generation Legend of Zelda title easily would be the most anticipated game of 2017 had it not been for one other game that has been on the lips of gamers for the past half decade. Nevertheless, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Nintendo's attempt to bring the classic adventuring from the past entries into today's generation of technology where physics, weather, open-worlds and dynamic AI all play an emergent role in how players interact with the environment, solve puzzles and scour the land for secrets. The fact that this will be on the Nintendo Switch just makes it all the more exciting.

Red Dead Redemption 2

It doesn't matter what else is on the list, once a Rockstar game is announced for release you can pretty much scratch everything else off your calendar because you'll be spending all your time with that game. In this case, the game is Red Dead Redemption 2. The reality is that we don't know a darn thing about the game, but it is running on Rockstar's latest tech, and rumors are swirling that the game may have multiple playable characters. Essentially we can expect everything from Red Dead Redemption but amped up multiple times over. I don't know if this game will be bigger or badder than GTA V, but it's definitely been one of the most anticipated sequels over the last six years.

The long rumored Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite was finally unveiled over the PlayStation Experience weekend. The new game will see a plethora of Marvel and Capcom characters doing battle, and they recently unveiled two more characters who will be playable in the game.

The trailer was posted up over the PlayStation Experience weekend over on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel. The trailer reveals that two additional playable characters will be none other than Captain America and the sultry Morrigan from the DarkStalker series.

The trailer starts by first showcasing Ryu and Mega Man X doing battle against Iron Man and Captain Marvel, two of Marvel's biggest heroes who are starring in their own cinematic universe movies. The fight then sees Iron Man utilizing his special attacks and blasting down X with his repulsor rays. X retaliates by unlocking his upgraded form with the white suit -- something we haven't seen from the Mega Man series in an extremely long time.

After Mega Man tags out so Ryu can come in, the protagonist from Street Fighter lays a hurting on Iron Man, only for Iron Man and Captain Marvel to use their tag-team special ability following a transformation move from Captain Marvel. The odds are then evened out when Captain America and Morrigan hop into the fray.

Captain America is wearing an original outfit, seemingly inspired by both the Marvel cinematic universe and his comic book origins. He's armored up with a black undersuit, almost like a lighter version of the Mjonir armor from Halo. The Captain sports arm guards and an old utility belt that seems to be a nod to his World War II getup.

Morrigan is very much similar to her older incarnations, sporting the same outfit, hairdo and moves from the previous DarkStalkers and Marvel vs Capcom games. The moves for both characters have also relatively stayed the same, with Captain America whipping out the Charging Star just like in the last Marvel vs Capcom.

A bunch of gamers instantly took to the comment section to roll out their own wishlist of heroes and villains they would love to see in the upcoming Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, including pulling out a lot of rare characters from Capcom's vault including Ryu from Breath of Fire and characters from Monster Hunter and God Hand.
