A few months ago, frequent Netflix collaborator (and pal of Meghan Markle) Tan France appeared on her lifestyle show With Love, Meghan. He did it to support the woman he jokes he’s in a “textual relationship” with, but as a British-American, France does understand the criticism the actress and entrepreneur has faced.

He was asked about popping up on With Love, Meghan recently by Vanessa Feltz, who questioned how the reality star got involved in the show, and asked if he knew about the “tumultuous criticism” the series faced back in the UK. With the former, France explained he’d been asked to film two days and go to the beach. He learned from Markle, and also taught her how to make his “mother-in-law’s french toast,” which he seemed to have a good time doing.

However, when it comes to the latter bit, France is well aware, telling the CH5 Show his theory.

France went on to defend the streamer adding With Love, Meghan to the Netflix schedule, calling the premise “very American” and “very Hamptons.” I would like to remind France that most Americans also don’t live on a beachy, bougie, playground, but I do think his idea that in theory the show could have worked in the US is not that unsound if the content had been super engaging. That’s not what happened, though.

The show briefly peaked on the Netflix charts thanks to the curiosity factor, but a lot of people who tried the first episode didn’t stick around. By the end of its first week, the show was already in 10th place and only landed at #383 for the year among total views. Despite this, Netflix inexplicably gave it a second season, which reportedly did even worse in the ratings.

There’s been a lot of discourse about Meghan Markle and Netflix over the last several months. What started as a match made in royal heaven seemingly turned as sour as Markle and co. kept putting out content that didn’t really resonate with viewers. Then, in March, Netflix stepped away from its deal with her lifestyle brand As Ever, and reports indicated at the time “the mood in the building is, ‘we’re done.’” A Netflix insider has refuted this, though, saying working on As Ever was only ever a "side hustle," so it's not weird this venture went by the wayside.

In short, though, it's clear what Netflix and Markle were trying to do wasn't fully working, and Netflix allegedly spent millions on a deal that never saw returns. What's unclear is what she'll do next. There's been some conversation about her returning to acting, with an insider saying there's Hollywood "interest" in the prospect. It's too bad Queer Eye ended after years of heartwarming episodes on Netflix, because I feel like the "textual" pals could have maybe done some fun work together there.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are truly forging their own path, both within the royal family and the world of Hollywood. After stepping away from life in England and all of the perks and pitfalls that came with their royal duties in 2020, they have continued to use royal titles while making deals within the entertainment industry and continuing their service trips in a way that has drawn concern from those in the palace.

Queen Elizabeth II made it clear that there was no way for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to cash in on private ventures while still fulfilling the obligations they had as senior working royals. Their ensuing move to the United States came with a bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, a Netflix docuseries and a tell-all memoir from the Duke of Sussex, and their continued moves within Hollywood remain an issue, according to Richard Fitzwilliams. The royal expert told Fox News:

Netflix has been a big part of the Sussexes’ plan since moving to the U.S., but it’s seemingly been an up-and-down relationship. A year ago, it seemed negotiations had broken down on their yearslong relationship, only to see the two reach a new agreement — albeit a downgraded one — that kept them in business together. However, speculation remains that all may not be well, with the streaming giant cutting ties with Meghan Markle’s jam brand and other merchandise this year.

As for other Hollywood moves, Meghan Markle is set to return to acting with a small part in the upcoming movie Close Personal Friends and is allegedly being bombarded with offers for leading roles.

The way that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can do this while still making service trips to places like Nigeria, Colombia and Ukraine that resemble royal engagements highlights those previously mentioned differences from what Harry’s father, brother and sister-in-law are doing as working royal members. Richard Fitzwilliams said:

Indeed, they do seem to be both making moves to benefit their own lives while continuing the life of service Prince Harry was born into — but somehow doing it without wholly committing to either Hollywood or the royal family. As British royals expert Hilary Fordwich said:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made some major business moves in recent years. Chief among those would be their five-year partnership with Netflix, and that was signed shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step back from their positions as working royals. The pair don’t have that same kind of relationship with the streamer anymore and, all the while, they allegedly have a pricey way of life to keep up. At the same, there’s the question of whether the two might leave the states and return to the UK.

How Expensive Is Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle?

A recent report lays out claims in regard to just how much money the Duke and Duchess must shell out per year to maintain their household. Emily Andrews of Woman & Home calculated the costs and, in her estimation, Markle and Harry reportedly £4-5 million per. In terms of USD, that sum equates to somewhere between $5 million and little more than $6 million. It’s worth mentioning that the royals currently live in a mansion in Montecito, California and also have a staff consisting of a security detail and other employees.

This report comes after the end of a few of Markle and Prince Harry’s professional partnerships, specifically those with Netflix. It was in 2020 that the couple signed that multi-year media deal with the mega-streamer, and that partnership yielded several projects, including the much-discussed Harry & Meghan docuseries in 2022. Subsequent projects didn’t receive as much buzz, however, including the criticized lifestyle series With Love, Meghan.

It was that reported lack of public interest as well as changing business dynamics and more that reportedly prompted Netflix not to renew its exclusive partnership with Markle and Harry’s Archewell Productions and settle on a more general first-look deal instead. That decision reportedly cost the streamer a lot of money and, more recently, the company also dropped Markle’s jam brand, As Ever. Per insiders, the mood at the streaming giant is that the partnership between both sides is essentially done.

Questions remain regarding what the royals might do next. As of late, though, there have been reports regarding the prospect of Markle returning to acting. Markle – who stepped away from acting eight years ago following her engagement – even recently filmed a cameo for the MGM film Close Personal Friends. Also, both Markle and her husband have been taking on speaking engagements, and it’s believed that could be an indicator of their future.

Could Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Actually Move Back To The UK?

The notion of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moving back to the United Kingdom doesn’t seem too far-fetched to some analysts right now. However, that seems to be far from a certainty at this point. However, at the very least, insiders claim that, at the very least, a trip to the UK may be in the cards for the couple. They’re about to embark upon speaking engagements in Australia, and a source alleges that the couple are using that as a way to test the waters for a tour in the UK. They explain to The Sun:

Markle and Harry returning to the UK in any form would be significant, especially given the familial drama that has surrounded them and the British Royal Family as a whole in recent years. As for whether or not they would move personally, it’s possible it could cut down some financial costs for them. Plus, it’s also been alleged that the pair have dropped out of their neighbors’ good graces in California due to the consistent buzz that surrounds them. Of course, all of this can only be taken with a grain of salt for now.

There are always a lot of opinions and questions surrounding Meghan Markle amidst her and Prince Harry’s ongoing estrangement from the royal family, whether it’s tension between the Sussexes and their neighbors, the constant turnover of their staff or a number of other topics. What we don’t talk about all that often is whether or not the Suits alum might return to acting. A former co-star’s comments have changed that, leading to the duchess apparently being “bombarded” with work offers.

Eric Roberts, who played Charles Forstman starting in Season 4 of Suits, raised eyebrows last month when he told The Daily Mail at a red carpet event that Meghan Markle “will return” to acting. According to a senior casting agent in Los Angeles, this has led to directors and producers “scrambling in the last couple of weeks” for opportunities to hire her. The agent told Page Six:

Meghan Markle retired from acting eight years ago after getting engaged to Prince Harry, and since then, she has only appeared as herself in series like Harry & Meghan, With Love, Meghan, and other docs available with a Netflix subscription.

Now, projects in a variety of genres are available to the Duchess of Sussex, according to the casting agent, who said:

In fact, Meghan Markle has already filmed a part for the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends from Amazon MGM Studios. The film is still in post-production, so it’s unknown if it will be finished in time to make the 2026 movie release calendar, but it stars Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding. Markle will reportedly play herself in a small cameo.

We’ll have to wait a little longer to see her take on fictional roles, but if and when that happens, the casting agent predicted it’s going to generate “stratospheric” hype:

The timing of these comments is interesting, as Meghan Markle’s partnership with Netflix is in question after the streaming giant dropped her jam brand, which some think signals the end is near for their overall deal.

Only time will tell what will happen between Netflix and the Sussexes, and whether or not Meghan Markle goes back in front of the camera.

However, Netflix recently chose to cut ties with the jam and other products, and according to the Sussexes' team, it was because the streamer was being “cautious,” and Markle’s brand was being “held back.” A royals insider for Woman & Home said she was told by the duchess’ team:

It sounds like Meghan Markle is looking to continue growing the As Ever brand, which sells jams, honeys, teas, wines and even a candle that smells like the royal wedding, with some arrangements costing more than $200.

However, the expert seemed skeptical that Netflix would drop As Ever if the product were as “hugely profitable” as Meghan Markle’s team alleged, but either way, the rep said the Duchess of Sussex was relieved to be able to “go it alone.”

The soured deal has reportedly cost Netflix quite a bit of money, and some insiders have suggested growing frustrations from the company over their partnership with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, Netflix maintains publicly that it values their relationship, saying they are glad to have played a role in bringing Markle’s lifestyle vision to fruition and even that this separation was one they’d planned for. A Netflix spokesperson said:

The positive spin from Netflix hasn’t stopped the speculation. Last July it appeared that the deal between the Sussexes and the streamer had broken down, with both sides walking away from negotiations. However, a deal was struck a month later to keep Netflix in the Harry and Meghan business. The new first-look agreement, however, is a downgrade from the royals’ initial contract.

Shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their duties as working royals behind in 2020, they did two additional things in the hope of changing their lives completely and for the better: signed a mega deal with Netflix for their Archwell production company and moved to Montecito, California. The ritzy locale is also home to stars like Jennifer Aniston (who bought Oprah’s former manse in the city), Sharon Stone, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande, and Gwyneth Paltrow, but now it’s been alleged that things aren’t copacetic between the Sussexes and those who share the neighborhood with them.

A new report from Page Six claims that others in the area are now “avoiding them,” and that the alleged frostiness has been brewing for years, with one source noting:

Obviously, this is the type of situation where we will be unlikely to get any kind of official statement from any of their famous neighbors, but it wasn’t that long ago that actress-turned-lifestyle influencer Paltrow publicly gave Markle words of encouragement as she started her own As Ever brand of products. Then, after the former working royal launched her lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan (which you can watch with your Netflix subscription), and took tons of flak for it, the Oscar winner went viral for a video that showed her letting the Suits actress into her home and then very neighborly sharing some pie with her.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a rift between Meghan, Harry and at least one of their neighbors. It was a few years ago that an 88-year-old resident claimed he was turned away at their gate while attempting to “be neighbourly” and gift the couple with some films he’d made about the area. It was around the same time that it was also reported that the couple were considering relocating to Malibu, but it seems that they’ve decided to stay put, at least for the time being.

A source close to the couple had a rebuttal to the rumors of there being issues with the parents of two and their neighbors, and simply told the outlet:

You can maintain good standing in your community without having close personal relationships with your neighbors, after all. So, hopefully, that’s true in this case.

Netflix may have just saved itself a lot of money by not buying Warner Bros., and even made a couple of billion thanks to a healthy kill fee attached to the deal. But that money will help balance the books. Netflix may have lost millions of dollars in its lifestyle brand deal with Meghan Markle.

Netflix has been a place where a lot of public figures have gone over the last few years. Barack and Michelle Obama have a deal there, but that one appears to be doing much better than the one signed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Netflix recently got out of a partnership with Markle and her As Ever lifestyle brand. It was a deal that, according to an unnamed insider who spoke with Page Six, was a total loss for the streamer. Certainly, if Netflix invested money and saw nothing from it, that’s a reason to reconsider. Not making a profit, or not even making back an investment, would be one thing, potentially worthwhile if the relationship was worth it. But if Netflix never saw a dime, that’s reason to change your strategy.

New business ventures are always difficult, even if you have clout and the money that Markle and Netflix are able to put behind it. As Ever, which sells luxury flower boxes with special arrangements for over $200 a pop, was launched alongside With Love, Meghan, the home and lifestyle show (available with a Netflix subscription) that was hosted by Markle for two seasons.

As Ever was only launched 11 months ago. The exact reason for the end of the partnership isn’t clear. While the loss of money was almost certainly a contributing factor, reports are that the Netflix series won’t be returning for a third season. And some inside the studio are saying that since the Netflix series was done, it simply didn’t make sense for Netflix to continue in that business.

Of course, that leaves open the question of why the series isn’t getting another season. While there have been rumors of conflict inside the Netflix/Markle relationship, the two sides did re-up the deal last summer, so things didn’t appear to be so difficult that it wasn't worth continuing.

It's possible Netflix is just getting out of the Meghan Markle business. The way that Netflix cancels shows, even ones with a lot of fan support, this just may be another case of that. Either way, Markle will now be able to focus more on making As Ever the success she surely wants it to be.

Surprise, surprise, Meghan Markle is under fire again from critics, and her upcoming Netflix special is involved. With Love, Meghan drew lots of attention when it was released on the 2025 TV schedule in spring, thanks to an awkward exchange with Mindy Kaling over her name, a viral one-pot pasta and lots of opinions about the duchess entering the lifestyle space. This time it’s a green dress that’s at the center of the brouhaha.

Meghan Markle’s series is returning to the Netflix schedule for the holidays, with a trailer for With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration showing a new batch of guests assisting the hostess with baking, decorating and spreading plenty of holiday cheer. However, one portion of the preview caused people to take pause when they recognized one of the dresses she was wearing:

This one-shoulder emerald green number appears to be the same one she wore in a 2022 issue of Variety, as she allegedly “took the dress from the shoot without asking,” according to a source for Page Six, which was reportedly for purposes of archiving her wardrobe as a royal.

The source confirmed rumors that the $1,695 Galvan “Ushuaia” gown had disappeared from the photoshoot, and a second source verified that Meghan Markle did end up in possession of the dress.

As some begin to speak out about Prince Harry’s wife removing clothing from photoshoots, a third source for the trade is calling the entire situation a “misunderstanding” and saying that they understood this to be a common practice. They continued:

Yet another insider, however, denies that this is part of royal protocol, calling it a “fib.”

Whether or not Meghan Markle was required by royal tradition, protocol or standard operating procedure to procure the $1,700 dress for her archives, the big issue seems to be the manner in which she took it. A fashion source explained:

I’m personally not sure of what was done or how the gown ended up back in Meghan Markle’s closet, but if she did knowingly take a dress that wasn’t hers to keep without asking, wouldn’t it be strange to then wear it on Netflix?

But, I understand there are things that can’t be explained, like why photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attending Kris Jenner’s birthday party were deleted from social media or why fans are upset that Meghan Markle uses expensive cookware on With Love, Meghan or why anyone would need a candle that smells like her royal wedding (OK, if it smells good, I do understand that one).

Now, a close collaborator of the Suits actress has opened up about their work after the move, explaining why the Duchess of Sussex “understands her voice” better than anyone else.

As Meghan Markle prepares to launch With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration on the 2025 TV schedule (you’ll be able to stream it with a Netflix subscription on December 3), she spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about her life, her family’s move and her career since then. Those close to her opened up about it as well, including her collaborator Terry Wood, who said:

Wood, who is the former executive vice president at Oprah Winfrey’s production company Harpo Productions, has worked with Markle on a few occasions. She was most notably an executive producer on Oprah’s revealing interview with Harry and Meghan back in 2021. She also worked with the Duchess of Sussex on her podcast Archetypes.

So, Wood has experience working with the couple, and Markle specifically, and she feels like the actress has a very good grasp on her voice and image. Explaining how the With Love, Meghan host tries to present herself, her collaborator said:

Since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got together, her fame has skyrocketed to insane heights. She’s beloved by some and scrutinized by others, and with that has come a lot of viral noise. From stories about behind-the-scenes drama between her and Kate Middleton at her wedding to the couple’s reportedly rocky relationship with the Royal Family, there have been unfavorable pictures painted about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Their work has been criticized, too, with some calling Markle’s show, With Love, Meghan, “painful to watch.” Meanwhile, there are others who defend the duchess and her projects.

Now, these comments from Wood make it clear that Meghan Markle is self-aware and knows how she wants to present herself amidst all this noise.

As I mentioned, as people continue to talk about her and her choices, Markle’s career is expanding. She’s releasing the Christmas special for her show, With Love, Meghan, and her brand, As Ever, is growing, as it's selling candles now. The Duchess will also return to acting by making a cameo in the movie Close Personal Friends. So, it seems like she’s working on things she’s passionate about, and these new quotes show that she likely knows how said work impacts her image, too.

Practically everybody who’s anybody was at Jeff Bezos’ and Lauren Sánchez’s $165 million mansion this weekend to celebrate Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday, with celebs like Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, Mark Zuckerberg and more posing for pics with the birthday girl and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family members. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were also among the revelers, but a photo initially posted of the Duchess of Sussex with Kim Kardashian has mysteriously disappeared from the Instagram post.

Kim Kardashian and her mom shared plenty of star-studded photos from the huge James Bond-themed birthday celebration, so it’s understandable if fans didn’t notice that one slide went missing from one of the multiple posts. Kardashian — dressed in a sparkling purple homage to Halle Berry’s character in Die Another Day — had been pictured with Meghan Markle in one shot, but now it’s gone. (Below you can see some others though!)

The photo, which seems to have been removed from Instagram, showed the Suits alum in a black turtleneck dress, while Prince Harry — seen having a conversation with someone in the background — sported a tuxedo. Their wardrobe options fit the 007 theme well but were actually the same outfits they were pictured wearing earlier in the evening, when they attended Serena Williams’ annual Baby2Baby Gala.

The big mystery is why the photo would have been removed. Did either Kim Kardashian or Meghan Markle object to how they appeared in the pic? Did the duchess ask for it to be taken down? Whatever the reason, it seems that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s association with America’s rich and famous rubbed some the wrong way. One insider who allegedly works with the royal family told Page Six:

Could the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked the Kardashians to remove their photos from social media because it was a step in the wrong direction of a possible reconciliation?

It’s hard to say, because this isn’t Kim Kardashian’s first disappearing photo mystery. Just this summer she removed a bikini photo from a post about her family’s lake vacation, seemingly because it contained a Photoshop fail. In fact, that's a move she’s been pulling for years (as if fans aren’t screenshotting everything anyway).

It may have been a potential photo editing issue, an attempt to head off royal backlash, or something else altogether. Unlike at party hosts Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding, phones were allegedly prohibited from Kris Jenner’s party, and sometimes celebs prefer not to be photographed.

We can’t be sure what exactly happened, but if removing the photo of Kim Kardashian and Meghan Markle was an attempt to downplay the Sussexes’ presence at the bash for any reason, I’d say the plan has backfired.

But now it looks like that performing hiatus is coming to an end after eight years, as word’s come in that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has scored her first acting role since she made her last appearance as Rachel Zane in Suits Season 7. This time around, she’s appearing in a movie that’s going to co-star Brie Larson.

As reported by Variety, Markle is set to have a cameo role in the comedy Close Personal Friends, which Larson will star in with Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson and Henry Golding. The movie is currently filming in Los Angeles, and the story follows a “regular” couple that becomes friends with a celebrity couple while they’re on a trip to Santa Barbara, though this leads to lines getting crossed and things getting awkward. Melissa Villaseñor, Natasia Demetriou, Anna Konkle, Patti Harrison, Jack Shalloo and Dustin Demri-Burns will also appear in Close Personal Friends.

It’s unclear which character Brie Larson will play in this upcoming comedy, as well as exactly what this cameo for Meghan Markle will entail. If I had to guess, she’ll play a fictional version of herself who knows the celebrity couple, and some kind of hijinks will ensue. Perhaps it’ll be something like when Keanu Reeves appeared as himself in the Netflix subscription-exclusive movie Always Be My Maybe, where Markle’s personality sharply contrasts with how she is in real life.

Behind the scenes, Jason Orley is directing Close Personal Friends, and he crafted the story with Isaac Aptaker, who’s writing the screenplay. Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are producing the comedy, and they previously worked with Orley on I Want You Back, which can be streamed with an Amazon Prime Video subscription. Close Personal Friends hails from Amazon-MGM, but it’s unclear if it will get a theatrical release or be streaming-only.

In addition to her seven-season stint on Suits, Meghan Markle’s other notable acting credits include movies like Remember Me and Horrible Bosses, and guest spots on TV shows like Fringe and Castle. Although she left acting behind upon marrying Prince Harry in 2018, Markle has continued to be active in the media since then. This ranges from the couple’s production company Archwell Productions partnering up with Netflix for various documentary series, to her narrating the 2020 Disneynature documentary film Elephant.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s deal with Netflix has been making headlines as of late, and not just because of their bad luck with the projects. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently struck a new deal with the streamer despite rumors of a rift. However, this new deal with Netflix is a downgrade from the initial overall deal they signed in 2022, and even though it’s still an exciting feat, it doesn’t seem to be all sunshine and rainbows. That seemingly became clearer as a story about the prince being late for a meeting and asking for hot chocolate made the rounds.

In a report about how Meghan and Harry have been working in Hollywood, Page Six spoke to a source who made claims about how "hopeless" they are in the workplace. They alleged:

They went on to recall how Prince Harry reportedly showed up late to a meeting with Netflix and proceeded to ask an executive for a cup of hot chocolate. Apparently, this isn’t the first time that the prince was focused on his beverage of choice.

A Spotify employee alleged to Vanity Fair earlier this year that Prince Harry came into the LA office and asked for a cup of hot chocolate too, and since there was none, the employees “scrambled” to round some up. Then, he was apparently pitched an idea to review hot chocolate every week, and he and his team rejected it.

This news comes after there have been rumors about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s troubles with Netflix. Over the summer, it was reported that Netflix might back out of its deal, partly because of Markle’s As Ever brand. Additionally, their projects have faced criticism, with people calling Markle's culinary lifestyle series "tone-deaf," for example. A source close to the couple also told THR that they are “both poor decision-makers,” with Prince Harry being an “enabler.” Meanwhile, Markle just lost another publicist.

Since Netflix wound up renewing the deal, albeit with a downgrade, the streamer seems to be on good terms with the couple. However, it's also possible that the hot chocolate and lateness are signs of or factors in the couple’s ongoing problems with Hollywood and their overall Netflix deal.

Of course, this is all rumor, and it’s not confirmed that Prince Harry showed up late to a meeting and immediately wanted hot chocolate. But, as we mentioned, this might hint at some larger issues he and Meghan Markle could be experiencing in Hollywood when it comes to their businesses.

In the description for “Signature Candle No. 519,” it explains that this product is As Ever's signature scent, and represents “love at first light.” It also reveals that the product was fully inspired by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding day:

Now, there’s been a fair number of rumors about the drama that happened behind the scenes of Markle’s wedding. She and Prince Harry also now live in California, away from the other royals, and these days, Prince Harry’s relationship with his family is rocky.

Emily Robinson joined the Sussexes’ team as Meghan Markle’s director of communications in June after previously doing publicity for Netflix. It was announced last week that she was already leaving the position, with a spokesperson for the duchess telling US Weekly:

Valentine Low has reportedly spoken to many former employees who allegedly say they’ve been bullied. Low recalls the “very fragile state” of his sources, as he said even more than two years after leaving their positions, they allegedly remained afraid of Meghan Markle’s “capacity for revenge.”

The duchess’ team has firmly rejected Valentine Low’s claims, saying the author “continues to desperately recycle false, offensive, and long-discredited allegations in an apparent bid to sell books and resuscitate relevance.”

Despite continued tensions, it sounds like Markle is living her best life and being genuine to herself.

On the heels of Valentine Low’s interview with Kinsey Schofield, a rep for Markle shared a statement with Page Six. Amid the series’ run, Anderson has been asked about another notable star with a culinary-based program, Meghan Markle. More specifically, she was asked if she thinks Markle ripped her off.

Their contract, which saw the royals produce a variety of reality series/documentaries for one of the best streaming services to the reported tune of $20 million/year, is due to end in September, and a source noted that while there was “no animosity from either side” those at the streamer simply “feel they’ve got all they can from the couple” so no renewal of the contract would be made.

According to the Daily Mail, which spoke to its own sources recently, that’s supposedly not the case. One insider said:

One of the things that was pointed to as a reason for why Netflix was going to let the deal end without a new contract was the performance of the shows that the Sussexes created. The early days of the 2025 TV schedule brought those with a Netflix subscription what might now be the last program formed from the partnership between the streamer and the Sussexes, the hotly contested home entertaining show With Love, Meghan. That series (which saw Meghan Markle launch herself into the celeb lifestyle influencer marketplace occupied by the likes of Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow) has now been revealed to have placed below several seasons of Suits, the former actress’ legal drama, right as we’re hearing that the multi-year, multi-million dollar deal will be allowed to lapse when the contract expires in September.

This report comes courtesy of The Sun, which spoke with an insider who claims that part of the reason the deal (allegedly worth a total of $100 million) will be scrapped is because Markle has made her As Ever brand her top project, as opposed to creating programming for the streaming service. That source claimed:

Late 2022 saw the couple and streaming service launch the first part of Harry & Meghan, the docuseries which saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex detail their experience as a couple while they were still working members of the British royal family. The revelations held within that and part two of the doc included many allegations of bad behavior on the part of the press and royals, and while it was certainly popular in terms of viewership, it proved just as controversial as much of what the couple has done.

This was hardly the only program planned for Netflix, but all of them have been embattled in one way or another. While Markle’s lifestyle series had to delay its premiere because of the L.A. wildfires, their animated show, Pearl, was axed before it could even really get off the ground, the extreme delay for Heart of Invictus led many to think it had also been canceled before it could air (it wasn’t), and their other shows (Live to Lead, Polo) barely made a dent when it came to viewers. The source, however, noted that there are no hard feeling for either party, adding:

I have to say, while the answer doesn’t necessarily shock me, it is a bit jarring. I fully expected Suits, a very popular and long-running drama, to have more viewers than the new cooking series With Love, Meghan. However, I didn’t expect their rankings on Netflix’s What We Watched report to be so far apart, as the legal drama’s first season sits at No. 151 while the new cooking show landed in spot 383.

Now, let’s break these numbers down further. Out of Suits' nine seasons, the first four of them outrank With Love, Meghan. The order of their ranking is as follows:

• No. 151 – Suits Season 1, 86 million hours viewed and 9.3 million views
• No. 242 – Suits Season 2, 82.9 million hours viewed and 7.2 million views
• No. 306– Suits Season 3, 72.2 million hours viewed and 6.2 million views
• No. 378 – Suits Season 4, 61 million hours viewed and 5.3 million views
• No. 383 – With Love, Meghan, 25.5 million hours viewed and 5.3 million views

Seasons 5 through 9 of Suits all rank lower than the cooking show, with Season 5 at No. 424, Season 6 at No. 465, Season 7 at No. 479, Season 8 at No. 595 and Season 9 at No. 623. It’s worth noting that Markle left the show after Season 7.

Overall, it is a bit jarring that a brand new show, like With Love, Meghan would bring in a significantly lower number of viewers than Suits, a show that’s been out and over for years. However, it’s also not surprising.

Suits had quite the resurgence a couple of years ago, and it absolutely dominated on Netflix in 2023, specifically. Plus, it’s been proven time and time again that long-running and popular shows that are completely over can retain and grow audiences on streaming as they continue to find new viewers while old fans re-watch – just look at the sustained popularity of shows like The Office (which you can watch with a Peacock subscription) and Friends (which is now streamable with an HBO Max subscription).

Also, in With Love, Meghan’s defense, it has had less time on Netflix than Suits. This report tracks numbers between January and June. The legal drama has been on the streaming service since 2023. The Duchess of Sussex’s series was delayed on the 2025 TV schedule due to the LA wildfires, and ultimately premiered in March. So, the USA Network series had a head start.

However, it’s still a bit wild to see the numbers, considering the interest the public has in the Royal Family and Meghan and Harry specifically. Although never doubt the power of a comfort, long-running show, they were on the air for a long time for a reason, and clearly have the power to keep viewers interested on streaming, too.

When it comes to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their family feuds, it doesn’t get much bigger than the estranged relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the rest of the royals. However, let’s not forget that Markle has an equally strained situation with some of her own relatives. The rift between her and her dad became really apparent when he staged photos for the paparazzi ahead of her 2018 wedding, but one author claims things went wrong long before that.

In his royal fly-on-the-wall book Revenge, author Tom Bower delves into a big sticking point in the relationship between Meghan Markle and her father. Bower claims that as a lighting director in the entertainment industry, Thomas Markle tried to help his daughter get her foot in the door in Hollywood, distributing her headshots and taking her to the Emmy Awards when she was 17. However, the relationship allegedly soured not long after when she lost the role in a play. Bower writes (per the Daily Mail):

Tom Bower writes that according to Thomas Markle, Meghan was “furious,” screaming that he should “obey her wishes.” Markle presumably did go on to do the lighting for the school play, and it reportedly wasn’t long after that his daughter moved in with her mother Doria Ragland.

Thomas Markle made headlines in 2018 when it was discovered that he’d staged photos of himself preparing for his daughter’s wedding and sold them to the tabloids, reportedly making upwards of $100,000. The palace was displeased with this turn of events, to say the least, and responded by uninviting Meghan’s father to the wedding, where he had planned to walk his daughter down the aisle.

The Suits actress reportedly cut off contact with her father after that, and despite her and Prince Harry severing ties with the royal family in the years that followed, Meghan Markle still has allegedly not spoken to her father.

Over the past couple of years, Thomas Markle has continued to plead for his daughter to let him back in her life, and citing his failing health, he has begged her to let him meet his grandchildren.

Meghan Markle opened up about the struggles with her family in the docuseries Harry & Meghan (streaming with a Netflix subscription), which her half-sister Samantha dismissed as a “series of lies.”

It’s unfortunate to think about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle cutting off relationships with both of their families, and it’s especially wild to think that in the actress’ case, one of the inciting factors might have been her losing a role in a high school play.

Adams, Gina Torres and more. It even led to the Suits LA spinoff, which premiered on the 2025 TV schedule in February but was unfortunately canceled after one season. A source is now saying that Markle could have helped to prevent that, had she not turned down a guest appearance.

The Duchess of Sussex, who portrayed Rachel Zane for seven seasons of the original show, did not appear on Suits LA before it became another of the shows canceled in 2025 — dashing our hopes of a Prince Harry-on-set story. There may be some bad blood there, too, as a source for Radar says the cast and crew of the spinoff is allegedly disappointed that Meghan Markle reportedly turned her back on the show instead of helping. The insider said:

There were rumors that she might appear on the spinoff, and certainly there was hope. Aaron Korsh, the creator of both Suits and Suits LA, said the door was open to Meghan Markle for a cameo, either as Rachel or even playing herself.

The insider alleges that as the show failed to get good ratings, Suits higher-ups were begging the duchess to make an appearance, as her co-star Gabriel Macht had. Macht reprised the role of Harvey Specter for a three-episode arc, but it didn’t move the dial the way a different cameo likely would have. The source said:

That clearly didn’t happen, and the source went on to say that not only could Meghan Markle possibly have kept Suits LA from cancellation, but doing a solid for her old friends might have benefited her down the road. In their words:

It is always good to be owed a favor, and especially if money’s a little tight these days — the Sussexes reportedly had to make some staffing cuts to save some cash recently — it might have been nice for Meghan Markle to have that in her back pocket, if the insider’s allegations are true.

Apparently, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making moves to save money. Since they moved to the US and became estranged from the Royal Family, it’s been reported that they’ve let some of their staff go in an effort to cut costs. Now, it would appear that a few more people who worked for the couple are no longer employed by them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle allegedly cut ties with their communications team, Page Six reported. This was reportedly done in an effort to save money, and it comes a month after quite a few other employees left. This brings the reported count of staff members who have exited or been cut since 2020 up to 25, the outlet reported.

Last month, it was reported by Hello! that Kyle Boulia, the LA-based deputy press secretary for the couple, and Charlie Gipson, the pair’s UK press officer, both left alongside two other members of their private team. Page Six also noted that Archewell’s director of communications, Deesha Tank, and the head of operations at Archewell, Lianne Cashin, have also departed. The exits also included Markle’s social media manager and a personal assistant.

Notably, Emily Robinson is their only other in-house rep, and she hired Method Communications to help. An industry expert commented on that choice, too, saying:

Now, at the time of this writing, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal is set to end this year. Allegedly, it’s worth about $20 million as opposed to the reported $100 million some thought it was worth. It also noted that while they had hits with their docuseries Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan, those with a Netflix subscription didn’t tune in as much to Heart of Invictus and Polo.

It was also reported a year ago that Markle was struggling to get Netflix projects off the ground, and the couple lost their deal with Spotify in June 2023.

According to the story, these kinds of developments could make covering costs harder. The couple travels a lot, they own a very expensive home in Montecito that they reportedly paid $14.65 million for, they reportedly have to pay for part of their “faux foreign tours,” and their annual security bill is allegedly around $2 million.

So, there are a lot of costs for them to cover. Whether this has anything to do with their staff departures is unconfirmed.

The report also notes that while some of this might have been to save money, there are also claims that suggest the couple might be difficult to work with.

According to one insider, these developments aren’t surprising, because they’ve had high turnover among their staff, they claimed:

Over the wedding weekend, there were also reports about Leonardo DiCaprio and his girlfriend being in Venice for the festivities. Sydney Sweeney was also at Bezos and Sánchez’s celebration, allegedly, because she’s making a blockbuster for Amazon MGM Studios. The guest list included Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Tom Brady and more, too.

Meanwhile, Charlize Theron wasn’t invited and spoke out about it, saying that it was OK “because they suck.” Now, if this rumor about the royal couple is true, Markle has the opposite opinion about not getting invited.

Allegedly, the Duchess of Sussex is jealous of Sánchez, which reportedly played into her feelings about her lack of invitation, as the source claimed:

If you follow fashion at all, you know that the September issue of every fashion magazine is a big deal. They tend to be the largest issues of the year which have the potential to draw the most eyeballs and sell the best, so landing the cover of one could give that model/celebrity a huge publicity boost. A report from the Daily Mail (via Page Six) notes that in 2022, as Meghan Markle was celebrating her keynote address at the One Young World Summit in Manchester and promoting her (eventually failed) Archetypes podcast, she was set on landing the cover of Vogue in September.

Markle and the editor of UK Vogue at the time, Edward Enninful, were friends, and supposedly were already working on an extensive feature for his September issue, but then had a falling out over the cover. The host of the highly criticized With Love, Meghan wanted the cover, but he’d already selected a cover star in supermodel Linda Evangelista. According to a source:

Apparently, the realization that she would not be granted the cover led Markle to go above Enninful’s head to Anna Wintour, who, along with being the long-time editor of US Vogue, is also chief content officer of the magazine’s publisher and global editorial director for all Vogue publications. Wintour met with the Goop brand competitor (though Gwyneth Paltrow is willing to appear on Markle’s lifestyle series), but also put an end to her cover hopes for the popular issue.

However, a source who spoke with Page Six has said that the fact that a cover star had already been chosen was not the main problem that The Devil Wears Prada inspiration had. As they said:

Well, this report, if true, does put a different light on things. If a ginormous star like Beyoncé can’t command what is basically total control over the conditions of their magazine cover, along with getting a global cover (meaning her image would have been on at least the US and UK Vogue September issues), then it makes sense that absolutely no one would.

However, a royal staff member quoted in the new biography Yes, Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants by Tom Quinn says the argument wasn’t one-sided, revealing (via Newsweek):

Contrary to what has been reported and what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have each said, it was not a case of one royal attacking the other, but rather both women getting upset as they each allegedly said things while emotions were running high.

That not only goes against what was reported in the press, but also what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said since stepping away from their royal duties. In their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle disputed the story that she had made Kate Middleton cry, claiming, “the reverse happened,” and the now-Princess of Wales had apologized and sent her flowers afterward.

Prince Harry’s corroboration of his wife’s version of the story was among the allegations in his memoir Spare, saying he found Meghan “on the floor sobbing” after her exchange with his sister-in-law.

So if it’s true that both royal wives were reduced to tears, how did the story become altered when it hit the papers? The staff member quoted in Yes Ma’am addressed that, too, saying:

Meghan Markle has said the whole incident was a “turning point” in her relationship with Kate Middleton. So, it’s not really surprising that this incident is used to represent the overall strife within the family.

Prince Harry doesn’t trust that his family’s safety is a concern for the palace, while the royals don’t know if everything they say will end up in another tell-all exposé or Netflix miniseries.

There’s been lots of discussion about Meghan Markle’s last name since her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan premiered on the 2025 TV schedule and the clip of her correcting Mindy Kaling went viral. Now that conversation has broadened to include her royal title, as insiders point out the seemingly contradictory nature of her and Prince Harry using HRH titles despite having stepped away from their royal duties.

Multiple sources noted to Page Six that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — as well as their children Archie and Lilibet — continue to use HRH titles (His/Her Royal Highness) since moving to the United States, despite an agreement with Queen Elizabeth II not to. A source called it “disgraceful” and “shocking” for Meghan Markle to do so, considering her apparent disdain for royal life. They told the trade:

The issue came to light recently when Meghan Markle’s friend Jamie Kern Lima showed a gift basket she’d received with a note reading, “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” However, a representative for the Sussexes disputes that this was a business transaction, saying the basket was sent before the launch of her lifestyle brand As Ever.

While the estranged royal family members appear to use the HRH status privately on stationery and other notes, a Sussex source told Page Six that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not ask people to call them that. They reportedly insist on being called “Ma’am and Sir,” though sometimes others still call them HRH. The insider said:

Strangely enough, having people call Meghan Markle simply by her first name is exactly how she seems to be avoiding another gaffe related to the issue of whether she’s Suits actress Meghan Markle or Prince Harry’s wife and mother to his royal children Meghan Sussex. In the introduction to her new podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, the duchess introduces herself as merely “Meghan.”

When she and Prince Harry stepped away from their royal duties in 2020, Buckingham Palace released a statement that included an agreement they’d apparently made with the queen, stating:

However, another royal insider alleged that Prince Harry thought that was “ridiculous,” as he’d been born with the title. There’s speculation that Prince William wants to strip them of the HRH titles altogether when he becomes king, because he allegedly “loathes” Meghan Markle.

The Office alum marveled at the fact that “Meghan Markle has eaten Jack in the Box and loves it,” (a statement nobody loved more than Jack in the Box), prompting the estranged royal to chastise her guest in a viral moment that will live in infamy:

Mindy Kaling told The View that she didn’t even remember the viral scolding because it was filmed so far in advance, but a body language expert suggested there was a “flash of surprise” on the Running Point creator’s face in that moment.

The 2025 TV schedule saw the March debut of Meghan Markle’s highly criticized lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, which coincided with her launch of As Ever, a product line which specializes in helping people entertain and cook at home “with ease.” This means that the Duchess of Sussex is now firmly ensconced in the lifestyle influencer space that’s long been occupied by Goop founder/Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Montecito, California neighbors previously didn’t really know each other, but the Marvel talent noted not long ago that she “was raised to see other women as friends, not foes” and feels that women like Markle deserve “an attempt at everything that they want to try,” despite the fact that she’s now in competition with her. This led to a viral Instagram clip where the duchess showed up in Paltrow’s home to alleviate feud rumors, and the two shared some pie. About that olive branch, a source recently told OK! Magazine that Markle feels great about the assist, adding that the supportive words:

While people have had lots of unsavory things to say about Markle (and Prince Harry) over the past several years, her series launched her into a brand new complaint territory. Viewers have roasted her on things like how she cooked pasta, the episodes in general being “painful to watch,” and even her fancy Le Creuset cookware drew ire. Another day, another controversy involving Meghan Markle. Since the premiere of With Love, Meghan on the 2025 TV schedule, people have not stopped talking about it — whether it’s the viral clip of her correcting Mindy Kaling on her name, the cookware she’s using or her recipe for one-pot pasta. The latest drama, however, revolves around the animated series Pearl — already canceled from the Netflix schedule — as British author Mel Elliot says the project bore “striking similarities” to her own Pearl Power series.

In July 2021, Meghan Markle announced the upcoming animated series Pearl, which would center on a little girl learning “to step into her power” through conversations with influential women in history. Mel Elliot revealed last week (per the Daily Mail) that she took action back then due to the resemblance of the series to her own, saying:

The author released three Pearl Power books from 2014 to 2016 and turned the character — inspired by her own daughter Pearl — into an animated series in 2019, two years before Meghan Markle announced her Netflix Pearl series.

Mel Elliot’s lawyer sent a legal letter to the Duchess of Sussex through her production company Archewell that reportedly said:

She then followed up with two personal letters to Archewell and Netflix in October 2021 and February 2022 asking for updates, the author said, but never heard back. Meghan Markle’s project was canceled soon after, in May 2022, with all references to it reportedly removed from the Archewell website.

Two other children's shows were axed at the same time by Netflix, which cited falling subscriber numbers as the cause, but Mel Elliot said she couldn’t help but wonder if her letters had something to do with it. She said:

Meghan Markle’s proposed 2021 series saw Pearl meeting women in history, with her first encounter to be with Billie Jean King, who the Daily Mail said publicly supported the duchess’ project championing female empowerment and equality.

While Mel Elliot’s books did not include historical women, that was part of her 2019 pitch for spinning the character off into an animated series. She wanted each episode to start with Pearl presenting a project about a famous woman to her class, kicking off an adventure with that person. The first test animation reportedly featured Billie Jean King and was allegedly available to view on Elliot’s website and social media.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Meghan Markle was in conversation with Netflix about Pearl before she and Prince Harry even stepped away from their royal duties, as early as 2018, which would have pre-dated Elliot’s series.

We’ll have to see if any other news comes from this. With Meghan Markle’s Pearl series being dropped several years ago, I wouldn’t expect her to comment on these new accusations. Although she did break her silence regarding the criticism of her Netflix show, so who knows?

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has been wrapped up in a few situations that have drawn attention as of late. That includes the debacle surrounding the premiere of her new Netflix show and the alleged feud between her and the ex-head of a charity co-founded by her husband, Prince Harry. Now, it would appear that Markle is being chastised yet again as the result of a recent public outing. Apparently, the royal turned heads when she went to a Broadway show.

On Thursday, the 43-year-old duchess took in a showing of Gypsy on Broadway, and she and her security team reportedly rolled in deep. Per Page Six, the media personality arrived with a convoy of four vehicles – one an unmarked police car and the other three were SUVs. She apparently rode in one of the SUVs while the other two were used as decoys for protection from the paparazzi. One photographer didn’t hold back when sharing their thoughts on the “absolutely abnormal, totally over-the-top and excessive” display:

In many cases, celebrities do have multiple cars when they travel, as is the case with the aforementioned “Blank Space” singer. We, of course, can’t say for sure what prompted Megan Markle to opt for four cars for her security detail. To be fair, though, she is still a member of the British Royal Family, and they’ve historically warranted a lot of fanfare from photographers and the general public. It’s also worth mentioning that back in 2023, Markle and Prince Harry were chased by paparazzi while in the back of a taxi. The “near-catostrophic” situation drew responses from a number of people, including Princess Diana’s former bodyguard.

That first source also alleged that when it comes to A-listers, “no one gets police escorts,” yet a second insider countered that claim. Said person explains that such protection can be requested by a celebrity’s head of security:

All of this comes on the heels of Dr. Sophie Chandauka making claims about both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The former head of the prince’s Sentebale charity, Dr Chandauka claims she and Harry fell out over the venue for a polo fundraising event. After settling on a venue, the event itself was allegedly shaken when Markle arrived unannounced with good friend Serena Williams. Dr. Chandauka went on to claim that Markle didn’t interact with too many people at the function and that she spurred an awkward photo op.

Earlier this year, the duchess drew backlash amid the release of her 2025 TV schedule entry, With Love, Meghan, which was originally set to debut as the LA wildfires took place. Some found it “tone deaf” to release the show at that time, and the date was eventually delayed. The Netflix show has since garnered tepid responses, though, fans, including Black women, came to Markle’s defense. Markle herself has discussed the criticism, throwing up her hands and saying, "This is a thing, in 2025?”

In terms of Meghan Markle’s security measures, we can’t speak to the rationale behind them. What can be said, however, is that everyone is entitled to feeling safe in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

This particular situation involves a charity event sponsored by Sentebale, the African-based charity founded by the prince. Dr. Sophie Chandauka, the organization’s ex-chairwoman, has since severed ties with the Duke of Sussex and has been talking about the issues she had with both him and Markle. Dr. Chandauka’s disdain has specifically revolved around a specific event, and an insider has now provided further claims about it.

What Allegedly Happened During The Charity Event?

The aforementioned event was a charity polo fundraiser, and Dr. Chandauka and Prince Harry reportedly came into conflict over the chosen venue, As she recently alleged, the location had to be shifted, because the Prince wanted to film on location amid the festivities. Ultimately, Harry was able to use his connections to land a new location for what the doctor says would become a “commercial venture.”

Apparently, the proceedings became somewhat awkward due to Markle’s presence, and an oddly staged photo was reportedly taken at some point during the event as well.

At this point, Dr. Chandauka has accused the Duke of Sussex and his PR team of bullying her due to their disagreements. And, if the aforementioned insider is to be believed, there’s a bit more drama involving the interpersonal relationships between the people involved in this matter as well as other details.

How Does Meghan Markle Reportedly Feel About Dr. Chandauka, And How Did Things Go Down At The Charity Event?

The source claims to The U.S. Sun that “the problem, though, started with Meghan” and that Meghan doesn’t like Sophie.” Given that purported animosity between the two, it’s alleged that they didn’t get along all that well while at the polo event. It’s claimed that after Markle arrived with her “famous friend,” she didn’t cooperate with Chandauka’s wishes:

In March, both Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho – who co-founded Sentebale in honor of their mothers – jointly announced their decision to leave the organization. They attributed that choice to the conflict between the board of trustees and Dr. Chandauka, who’s been accused of exhibiting “untenable” leadership methods.

The relationship the Duke of Sussex and Dr. Chandauka has apparently been strained after a charity fundraiser went wrong. Allegedly, it was the Sussexes’s deal with Netflix and Harry and his wife’s much-discussed public image that factored into all of this.

There Was A Conflict Over The Charity Venue

Dr. Chandauka opened up about her relationship with Prince Harry during an interview with Sky News. She accused him and his PR team of bullying her and harassing her after disagreements they faced as a result of a polo charity fundraiser. The charity's chair revealed that their original choice of venue ended up having to be changed after the Sussexes insisted on filming their new Netflix project on location at the event. Dr. Chandauka claimed they originally were able to strike up a deal with the venue, saying:

After the Netflix show came into play however, the charity event became a “commercial venture,” and they were apparently no longer able to afford the venue for the event. Ultimately, though, with Prince Harry’s connections, the charity was able to find another venue. Yet that was supposedly only the beginning of the collaboration strain tied to this event.

After the venue situation was sorted out, more complications apparently arose. Dr. Chandauka alleges that Markle arrived unannounced at the polo event with a celebrity friend. This resulted in an awkwardly choreographed picture taken on stage. The charity head said it looked strange because she wasn’t expecting Markle to be there. Said awkwardness was heavily reported on by the press, and Markle’s alleged attitude towards Dr. Chandauka ended up overshadowing the entire event.

After Markle received this backlash for the clunky charity moment, Dr. Chandauka claimed that Prince Harry asked her to make a statement of support towards his wife, which the chair refused to do. She explained:
