Comic book projects continue to be everywhere, and over at DC we're still early into co-CEO James Gunn's new shared universe. The first slate of projects is called Gods and Monsters, and fans are looking forward to upcoming DC movies like Supergirl. Milly Alcock will take center stage as the title character, and she already knows which character she'd like to punch in the face in her next movie.

Following Alcock's cameo in Superman, she'll be the protagonist of Craig Gillespie's Supergirl. Fans are eager to see her cosmic journey with Krypto, and in a clip from ComicBook's Instagram the 26 year-old actress was asked what DC character she'd like to punch as Kara Zor-El. She responded quickly with:

Lex Luthor. It's because Nicholas Hoult is so nice. But he's kind of punchable.

Honestly, this is a solid choice. While we saw Kara's cousin and her dog bring the pain and rough Lex around in Superman, Alcock's character hasn't had the chance yet. And since he's the DCU's biggest villain so far and Nicholas Hoult is so nice, the House of the Dragon star is ready to punch him square in the face in a future DC project. I hope James Gunn is listening!

Narratively, it would make sense for Kara to throw a punch at Lex. After all, he kidnapped her dog Krypto and put him in a pocket universe. That dog her best friend, so she's likely got beef with the Superman villain.

Of course, the dynamic between Lex and the heroes of the DCU are expected to change in the sequel Man of Tomorrow. James Gunn has already teased that the movie will see Lex and Superman will have to unite against a common enemy. Namely, Brainiac. So maybe that'll make Hoult's bald villain less punchable. Maybe.

It's currently unclear when Kara Zor-El will pop up in the DCU after her starring role in Supergirl. While she's expected to be a major presence in the shared universe as a whole, James Gunn has been keeping his cards close to the chest. Will she actually stay on Earth and defend it with her cousin, or will she continue exploring other planets and self-medicating with booze? Only time will tell, but I'm hoping she gets a crossover with Lex Luthor soon.

Supergirl will hit theaters on June 26th as part of the 2026 movie release list. For now, fans can re-watch her Superman cameo on HBO Max while patiently waiting for the new blockbuster to arrive.

Man of Tomorrow is officially filming, as the upcoming DCU Chapter 1 installment kicked off production in Atlanta this past April. Unsurprisingly, writer/director James Gunn has been keeping fans in the loop with occasional behind-the-scenes tidbits. The filmmaker’s latest tease is quite a doozy, though, as he revealed the first look at Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in his power suit. My excitement over this first look is through the roof, and it can only be matched by the various fans who’ve since reacted to Gunn’s post.

Gunn showed off the sweet-looking costume by way of a post he shared to Instagram on Monday. The simple shot shows Hoult clad in Luthor’s classic green armor while standing on sand against a dimly lit background. Gunn shared this show “live from the set of Man of Tomorrow,” I have to say that this is a “fit check” I can certainly get behind. This live-action variation of Lex’s armor – most commonly known as a “warsuit” in the comics – looks pretty much as some would probably imagine. Nevertheless, that doesn’t in any way dim the hype I’m feeling for this aspect of the upcoming superhero movie. Superman’s Nicholas Hoult Discusses What Makes Him ‘Excited’ About Man Of Tomorrow

Nicholas Hoult is suiting up for another round in James Gunn’s DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, and he’s not hiding his enthusiasm. The actor’s first outing as Lex Luthor in the 2025 movie release Superman was a resounding success both financially and critically, and, now, Hoult is looking ahead to the future. He is set to return in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow, the officially announced Superman sequel that’s slowly taking shape. And the man under the bald head is speaking about what’s got him “excited” about the upcoming DC movie.

The Mad Max: Fury Road actor talked about his take on DC’s most iconic villain with GQ and discussed why he’s already looking forward to stepping back into the role. While Hoult hasn't seen the script for the sequel just yet, he says the experience of playing Lex left him wanting more:

I haven’t read it yet, but hopefully will soon, so I can’t say anything more than that. But just upon playing the character for the first time in that story, through my research and prep, I feel like there’s a lot more for me to explore and for us to explore. So I’m excited that we are getting the chance to go back and do that.

And that exploration is coming. James Gunn has already teased that the next film will focus on a Superman and Lex Luthor team-up, with the two forced to join forces against a larger threat. Fans have speculated that Brainiac may be the villain this time around, which opens the door for a fresh take on Lex. For the British star, that means playing a version of the character we haven’t seen on the big screen before. That kind of character work feels tailor-made for Hoult’s range.

Fans last saw his Lex in a surprise cameo during Peacemaker Season 2, where he teams up with Rick Flag Sr. to help locate Chris Smith’s Quantum Unfolding Chamber. Clearly, the role made an impact. Hoult recently described playing a villain as strangely liberating, saying:

I do really enjoy it. I suppose there’s a freedom in playing a villain because there’s nothing you can do that could be wrong. It’s really interesting to try and get into the mindset and psyche of those people and their obsessive nature and their belief system or ideology.

He also mentioned he’d just spoken with Gunn about the sequel. The director has teased that Man of Tomorrow will be as much a Lex movie as a Superman one. If that plays out, we could be looking at a sequel where the so-called villain carries just as much narrative weight as the guy in the cape—and, honestly, that’s the kind of shakeup superhero movies could use, and sets the DC Universe apart from the competition.

For now, fans can revisit Nicholas Hoult in his role as Lex Luthor in both Superman and Peacemaker, as both streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

Do blondes have more fun? It’s a classic question that actor Nicholas Hoult has been testing out much of this year due to his role in one upcoming 2026 movie, How To Rob A Bank. He’s been absolutely rocking bleach blonde hair while being out and about, particularly going viral for the look while on the Superman global press tour. But how did the new do come about?

Of course he’s been asked about bleaching his hair before, but when Hoult recently sat down with GQ, he spoke more in depth about how it all went down. In his words:

You know what, it was something that I had considered for roles before, but never felt like it was quite right for the feel of the tone of the job or whatever it might be. And then, while I was talking to David Leitch, the director of [Hoult’s upcoming 2026 film] How to Rob a Bank, we were talking about this character and what he felt he represented. And as we started to prep, he said, ‘How would you feel about bleaching your hair?’

Given that Hoult went and shaved his whole head to play Lex Luthor, it seems word has got around that he’s not especially precious about staying with his typically-brunette short hair if a role calls for another look. As he continued:

And it was funny because I’d had this instinctual thing at one point about the character where I was like, ‘Maybe [bleached hair] is something physically I could do to transform and use with this character.’ So I said yes right away. Two days later, I was in my wife’s aunt’s salon, and she was putting the bleach on my head, because I was like, ‘Let’s do it now and we’ll see, because maybe it looks bad and we don't want to use it.’ But I did it and we felt like it was right for the aesthetic of the film and the character, and I kind of like it. I’ve got my Madonna Blonde Ambition T-shirt on. I’m all about that blonde life now.

And voila, bleach blonde haired Nicholas Hoult was born. It’s sweet that he enlisted a member of his family to get it done early, and show filmmaker David Leitch before committing to it on the set of the movie. It’s clearly gone over well considering the actor is still wearing the look even though the production reportedly wrapped four months ago. Hoult's certainly not alone in the look given that fellow actors like Josh Hutcherson went bleach blonde for The Beekeeper, and Dylan O’Brien also made a similar transformation a few years back.

The movie that got Hoult to go blonde is about a crew of bank robbers that uses social media to document all the heists they’ve pulled off as they go on the run from the police. Leitch has directed other stylish action movies in past like Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train and The Fall Guy. We expect we’ll see Hoult doing a lot of stunt work and tapping into his comedic side for How To Rob A Bank given the filmmaker’s other work thus far.

Hoult will be starring alongside Zoë Kravitz (whom he previously worked with on Mad Max: Fury Road), Shogun award darling Anna Sawai, SNL alum Pete Davidson, The Penguin’s Rhenzy Feliz, John C. Reilly and Christian Slater.

As we wait to see Hoult in How To Rob A Bank next fall, it’s worth noting that he told the magazine that it’s been “fun just to do something different” regardless of it being for work. He’s had tons of people reaching out to him saying they are “thinking” of doing something similar to their hair. Nicholas Hoult encourages more people to “shake it up” and “change your hair” if you want to. “Why not?” Hair is prone to grow back, you know!

The superhero genre continue to be wildly popular, and fans have recently been treated to a new shared universe with the DCU. The first slate of projects is titled Gods and Monsters, and James Gunn's Superman (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription) was the first movie installment. David Corenswet recently explained why he didn't "do the dehydrating thing" when getting into shape for the role... and then got some serious sass from Nicholas Hoult.

The Superman cast list was led by these two actors, who played enemies but actually seem to get along great. David Corenswet put on weight to play Superman, but he doesn't have the crazy ripped appearance of other actors like Chris Hemsworth or Kraven's Aaron Taylor-Johnson. While appearing on BBC Radio 1 (via Twitter) the Hollywood actor spoke about the vision of his hero's physique, stating:

Our version of Superman is much more the sort of farm boy build... We didn't do the whole dehydrating thing. We figured it was more important for Superman to have a lovely outlook and personality than have shredded bits.

There you have it. While Corenswet still ate a ton of carbs in order go gain bulky muscle for Superman, he wasn't trying to be totally shredded and lean. He wanted to look like a farm boy, rather than a professional body builder. And that stands in stark juxtaposition with his peers within the genre.

Like many other hero actors, the star of The Politician (which is streaming with a Netflix subscription) did the work to look powerful as Superman. But he didn't have to try and dehydrate his body to be lean enough to cut glass with his abs.

Of course, Hoult was sure to pull a Lex Luthor and poke fun at his Superman co-star. He responded to Corenswet's comments by saying:

You didn't have a lovely outlook and personality. You're just hot, god damnit.

I mean, he's not wrong. Corenswet truly looks incredible as both Superman and Clark Kent. And while he did bring the character's hopeful and kind personality to the screen, you can't deny that the 32 year-old actor also looked the part. Per Hoult's comments, he's "just hot."

This give and take is just the latest example of these two actors' delightful friendship. Nicholas Hoult also spoke about his fondest memory of Corenswet, where the Superman actor was parenting his infant in the full costume and cape. Luckily they'll be able to work together on the upcoming DC movie Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which has already been green lit and written.

The superhero genre is going through some thrilling changes lately, thanks to the burgeoning DCU. Created by co-CEO James Gunn, the first slate of projects is titled Gods and Monsters, recently making its debut in theaters with Superman (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription). The Superman cast list was led by David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, and the latter actor recently reminisced about his favorite memory of the Clark Kent actor on set.

Superman was a hit at the box office, partly thanks to its stellar casting. While Nicholas Hoult auditioned for Kal-El, he made an outstanding Lex Luthor. In an interview with Time, the 35 year-old actor shared a sweet story about Corenswet from the DC movie set. In his words:

I think my fondest memory of David is of seeing him on set, Superman cape still on, pushing his daughter in a stroller in circles as she slept. In the middle of this massive film and moment for his career, he was just off being a great dad.

How awesome is that? While Corenswet was busy as the lead character of Superman, it's sweet to see the way he continued parenting his young child. And sometimes that happened while he was still in Superman's signature trunks, suit, and cape. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

The press tour for Superman showed just how great Hoult and Corenswet's chemistry was, with the two actors seemingly really enjoying each other's company. This stands in stark juxtaposition to their character's relationship, which is strained at best. Personally I can't wait to see how this changes in upcoming DC movies.

Luckily for Nicholas Hoult, it seems like he and David Corenswet are going to have even more screentime in the sequel. Man of Tomorrow is officially on the way, and Gunn teased that Superman and Lex will have to work together against a common enemy. And fans think that threat will be none other than DC villain Brainiac.

For his part, David Corenswet has been giving his wife Julia Warner a ton of credit for taking care of their baby as he filmed Superman. Movie sets have notoriously grueling schedules, and playing the title role of James Gunn's blockbuster meant that the Pearl actor had the lion's share of screentime. So while Nicholas Hoult was touched by the way his co-star parented from the set, Corenswet is making sure that his wife is getting the flowers she deserves. After all, they couldn't really split the parenting work in half.

James Gunn recently phoned into The Howard Stern Show and confirmed the title Man of Tomorrow for his Superman sequel and staked out July 9, 202, for the upcoming DC movie. He also teased the hook of a Superman and Lex Luthor team-up, as the two are forced into an uneasy alliance when a larger threat hits Metropolis. Cue the speculation—including a killer piece of fan art that imagines Nicholas Hoult in Lex’s iconic War Suit.

Over on Instagram, a new piece of fan art, the popular digital artist @spdrmnkyxxiii, just stomped the gas on sequel speculation. The popular digital artist dropped a polished one-sheet, which you can see below, that envisions a Luthor, as performed by Nicholas Hoult, shoulder to shoulder with Supes in a sleek, emerald battle rig. It’s not an announcement, but it is a vibe.

Why does the armor choice matter in regard to the upcoming superhero movie? Because that “war suit” isn’t a random skin swap; it’s a deep cut from the comics. Lex started in the 1940s in Action Comics #23 as a genius baddie, mostly in street clothes or prison garb. The purple/green palette showed up in the ’70s as a jumpsuit with wrist lasers and repulsors—the look you remember from Super Friends merch. The true game-changer arrived in 1984: DC (working with Kenner on the Super Powers toyline) tapped George Pérez to redesign Lex into a full metal menace, debuting the armored suit in Action Comics #544 and marching it straight into Crisis on Infinite Earths. It briefly gave Metropolis’ master manipulator physical parity with Superman.

By James Gunn’s own tease, Man of Tomorrow puts Clark and Lex in an uneasy alliance against a larger threat—my money’s on Brainiac. That setup practically begs for the War Suit: it gives Lex aerial parity with the Justice Gang and sets the stage for a darker twist. Think one of the best Justice League Unlimited episodes where: Brainiac piggybacks inside Luthor, culminating in a fused Luthor/Brainiac (“Luthoriac”). A similar possession turn could flip the partnership mid-fight—crowd-pleasing team-up first, terrifying third-act escalation next, with Clark trying to save the world without losing the ally at his side.

It’s also worth noting that Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow announcement arrived with artwork showing Lex in the purple-and-green War Suit beside Superman (who’s cheekily holding a screwdriver). So this fan piece isn’t out of left field—it riffs on imagery the DC exec has already put in front of fans.

To be clear, the poster featuring Lex in armor is fan art, not a DC Studios announcement. Dates, titles, and concepts evolve. Still, the comics history—and the film’s directors' own teases—make the armor feel like smart, crowd-pleasing canon. If he goes another direction, that’s his call; if he doesn’t, expect cheers when that suit hits the screen.

Whether Nicholas Hoult looks as cool as he does in the fan art, we’ll find out when Man of Tomorrow hits theaters on July 9, 2027. Before that, the DCU returns with the new Supergirl, which lands on the 2026 movie schedule on June 26th, 2026.

James Gunn just dropped a fortress-of-solitude-sized update about his officially announced Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, and it’s not what most fans expected. The writer-director says the follow-up is closer than we think and will hinge on an unlikely alliance at the heart of Metropolis. The tease also has me speculating on what big baddie might be coming to the upcoming DC movie, and I’m so pumped for this showdown!

What Gunn Revealed About Superman Sequel

As first shared during a call-in to The Howard Stern Show this morning, the Slither helmer confirmed the sequel’s title, a summer release plan, and a story centered on Supes and Lex Luthor forced to face a larger menace together. In Gunn’s words:

We released the fact that we're coming out with Man of Tomorrow last week. It's gonna be out in two years in theaters in July 9th of 20207. which is relatively a short time between sequels, because we knew immediately where we were going. And it is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman, you know. having to work together to a certain degree [against] a much a much, much bigger threat, and it's more complicated than that.

Later in the interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy director doubled down on Lex’s prominence (and his fondness for Nicholas Hoult’s take). He continued:

It’s as much [a Lex Luthor] movie as it is a Superman movie, and I loved working with Nick Hoult, who played Lex. I relate to the character of Lex Luthor, sadly, so I really wanted to create something extraordinary with the two of them. And oh, man, I just love that script so much.

Gunn's comments offer a pretty straightforward look at what we can expect in the sequel, and they might actually give away more than you’d think at first listen. Let’s dive in and break it down.

Times Lex and Superman Have Teamed Up

So the sequel will see Superman and Lex Luthor needing to team up against a greater threat. This may seem unusual, but it’s not without precedent. Since Action Comics #23 in 1940, Superman and Lex have occasionally set aside their rivalry when necessary, and these reluctant alliances often enhance the story.

Below is a quick look at notable instances when Superman and Lex became uneasy partners:

Superman #164 (1963) – Often seen as their first true collaboration, this Silver Age classic has Superman and Lex Luthor stranded on an alien planet. Lex uses his scientific skills to help the drought-stricken natives, but realizes they need Superman's strength. Together, they transport glacier ice from a nearby planet to restore the water supply, earning the gratitude of the locals, who rename their home Lexor.
Action Comics #511 (1980) – In this “maybe he actually changed?” storyline, Lex Luthor starts racking up some good-guy points. He cures diseases, helps repair the ozone layer, and even undergoes a mind probe. When Terra-Man shows up out of nowhere and attacks the Fortress, Lex swoops in and saves Superman’s life, helping take down the villain in the process. Their uneasy truce doesn’t last long, of course.
The Lex Luthor II Era (1992) – During Brainiac’s Warworld invasion, a younger, red-maned “Lex Luthor II” (long story involving a clone body and an Aussie cover identity) pledges LexCorp resources to Earth’s defense and fights alongside the heroes.
Saving the Sun (1996) – A cosmic Sun-Eater plunges Earth into a lethal winter. Lex joins the Justice League brain trust, weaponizing his tech and know-how to help avert extinction. He’s insufferable the entire time—especially with a de-powered Superman in the room—but the world lives because Luthor showed up.
President Luthor’s Draft (2001 ) – As the villain Imperiex threatens Earth, President Lex Luthor gathers the planet's heroes, including Superman. While this cooperation is ethically complicated, they ultimately unite to defeat a significant threat.
Lex Joins the Justice League #33 (2014) – After helping topple the Crime Syndicate, Lex tries heroism on for size. Batman, ever the strategist, votes to keep enemies closer; Superman grudgingly agrees.

What does all this comic book lore have to do with Man of Tomorrow? Well, I have my thoughts.

What I Think Will Happen In Man of Tomorrow

Gunn's talk about a “reluctant alliance” and a “bigger threat” definitely screams Brainiac to me. Just like in The Adventures of Superman animated series (available with an HBO Max subscription), I think we will see one of Superman's biggest enemies, a super AI, and a Krypton survivor, show up and force the odd couple of villain and hero to team up. Mean Lex and the Man of Steel will have to go toe-to-toe with an incredibly formidable foe, the likes of which we have not seen even in the best Superman movies, and that has me so pumped.

If James Gunn’s sequel is going to be “as much a Lex Luthor movie as a Superman movie,” there’s a lot to pull from the comics. He’s known for remixing storylines, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a cocktail of these Lex and Superman comic team-ups in the next flick.

James Gunn has officially announced the upcoming Superman sequel, titled Man of Tomorrow. And as news spread about the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2025 movie schedule's breakout DC hit, the internet quickly lit up with excitement over the return of David Corenswet’s Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. But while fans were buzzing about the upcoming DC movie, it was The Menu actor’s low-key, three-word reply that quietly stole the spotlight and eased one massive concern I had in the process.

On Instagram, the former X-Men: First Class star shared a striking piece of comic art featuring Superman and Luthor locked in battle. As cool as the artwork is, it was Hoult’s response to Gunn’s comment, “See you on set in not too long!” that will surely peak fans' interest. He replied:

It’s a short and funny response. However, it also says a lot, most notably, it eases my concern that Hoult might take the easy route with a bald cap this time around, instead of fully committing to shaving his head like he did for the DC Universe launching predecessor. Let’s be real: bald caps rarely look convincing. My mind immediately flashes to El Camino, the Breaking Bad sequel, and Bryan Cranston’s distracting, rubbery transformation into Walter White.

As we previously reported, Hoult shaved his head for Superman, a choice fans praised for its realism and dedication. Now that Man of Tomorrow is officially set for a July 9, 2027, release, fans have been wondering whether he’d do it again. His comment seemingly answers that pretty clearly: yes, he’s going bald, and he’s having fun with it.

In fact, Hoult might be one of the most committed actors ever to take on the role of Lex Luthor. While Gene Hackman remains a fan favorite, it’s well known that he famously refused to shave his head for the original Superman: The Movie, instead opting for wigs and finally a bald cap in the film’s closing moments.

Beyond being funny, it signals that the Mad Max: Fury Road performer isn’t just returning for a quick cameo or toned-down version of Luthor. Paired with the new Jim Lee and Mitch Gerads-inspired key art, featuring a power-armored Lex squaring off with Big Blue, it looks like the character will take a more physical role in the sequel. Unlike in Superman, where he pulled strings behind the scenes while The Engineer and Ultraman handled the muscle, Man of Tomorrow appears poised to let Luthor throw a few punches of his own.

James Gunn and Peter Safran have been cautious about making premature announcements in the DCU, only setting release dates when the script is done and the vision is clear. So the early tease, coupled with Gunn’s casual “See you on set,” hints that cameras may start rolling sooner than expected.

Falling in love with a DC movie villain was not on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are, and I am openly saying that I love Lex Luthor from Superman. Okay, well, not the villain overall, but Nicholas Hoult's portrayal in the 2025 movie release.

If you know me, you’d know that I’m not a super huge fan of the DC universe. I enjoy one of their film now and again, and the DC comics are always fun, but for some reason, I just never got DC as much as others did. I grew up liking Batman because my dad enjoyed it, but other than that, it wasn't really on my radar.

As I’ve gotten older and explored more of this comic world, I’ve seen plenty of DC movies, and the villains just never did anything for me. Then Lex Luthor and Nicholas Hoult’s fantastic portrayal of him came along, and I was hooked.

The DC Movie Villains Were Always Hit Or Miss For Me

This isn’t an article for me to rip on DC villains overall because, in honesty, I really do like them — just in comic form. I think there are a ton of great DC villains who we haven’t even seen in movies because they tend to stick to the most-known ones, which is fine. It’s pretty typical for adaptations to do that.

But when it comes to DC movie villains, I’ve…always not been a big fan. It’s not that some of them aren’t good – Heath Ledger as The Joker will live on for the ages, so much so that his performance was called “unpredictable” by Christopher Nolan. I still think Joaquin Phoenix is great as the iconic clown, too. I also think that Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman was a great pick back in the day.

Other than that, though? I really don’t remember a lot, and that’s coming from someone who has spent her time watching most of the DC films ever since she began her comic journey. I’ve said before that I grew up mainly on Marvel, so of course I love any upcoming Marvel movie because the villains just always clicked more for me there. And then we have Thanos – the ultimate baddie.

When I started getting into DC movies, I was a little perturbed with how I felt regarding the villains. I was told by someone a long time ago that many of the DC villains are significantly darker than their Marvel counterparts, and I suppose that holds in some cases. But truthfully, some of these portrayals were so forgettable. The very idea of me trying to come up with anything memorable is painful.

I suppose I could compare this to Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, whom I guess he had his moments. But he wasn’t anything special. Nicholas Hoult, however… now that’s a villain.

The Way Nicholas Hoult Portrayed Lex Luthor Made Me Want To See Him Come Back

I’ve been a fan of Nicholas Hoult for years. I’ve watched Nicholas Hoult’s best movies and I’ve enjoyed watching him on television. Heck, he was the co-star of one of my favorite Hulu original shows, The Great. He’s a fantastic actor. When he was announced as the new Lex Luthor, many people were skeptical, but I was all in.

Then I saw Superman and he blew me away. I was in my seat just staring every time he was on screen in utter awe and disbelief because Hoult really poured every ounce of his acting into this role.

Every actor should do that, but there was something so compelling about his portrayal. There were moments where I actually felt bad for Luthor, which is something that I really shouldn’t say, but it’s the truth. Obviously, Superman is the hero, and Lex Luthor hates him, but there was an ounce of humanity underneath the evil genius that we saw in this film, which made me really like him as a villain.

But Lex Luthor is also a little unhinged, and Nicholas Hoult knocked that out of the park as well. There’s one scene in the film – without spoiling anything – where he so nonchalantly kills someone that I was just gasping at the screen and staring at him. That is Lex Luthor. That is the kind of villain that we needed to see. He was campy when he had to be, dramatic at the same time, and the perfect blend of comic faithfulness and reality.

There Are So Few DC Movie Superhero Villains That I Can Openly Say I Want To See Again

There are very few DC villains that I really want to see again. I feel like many of them are often one-and-dones in the franchise because they usually get defeated very quickly and easily, and then you’re just wondering where the big fight is. However, Lex Luthor is a villain that I could see sticking around for a long time, as long as it’s Hoult’s version.

At the very end of Superman, we really see him at his lowest, and from that look on his face, you can tell he wants more. There’s revenge laced within his eyes and a coil that’s wound so tightly inside his body that I’m sure it’s only waiting for the signal to snap. Lex may have been beaten, but he’s still a genius – someone who built an entire industrial empire. You don’t think he could easily do that again?

Superman itself was hugely successful, with thousands of people attending the movie and loving every aspect of it. I was one of those who fell for Superman even more so, and ended up having a favorite in Mr. Terrific (as did many others). But because this film did so incredibly well, I think this won't be the last we see of Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.

I Really Think He Could Be A Mainstay In This Franchise

I don’t just think we’ll see Lex Luthor again: I really believe he’s going to be a mainstay in the franchise. If anything, I’m going to compare him to Loki from the MCU.

I don’t believe Lex Luthor will have some redemption arc like Loki did – he’s a little too far gone for that. But the real comparison is how I think Luthor is going to pop up in places you’d never expect him to and have a lasting impact on the story as a whole, just as Loki did in the MCU. It might come in a way you don’t even expect, but that’s the beauty of it – you don’t know.

Truthfully, Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal actually made me excited for the future of the DC movie universe and everything else coming out. With him as a big baddie, this just might be the start of a memorable slew of DC villains, and I am so here for the ride.

For some, the crop of 2025 movies from July could be summed up with a word: “SuperFantastic.” So maybe that’s more of a portmanteau, but with DC and Marvel putting forth hopeful narratives of optimism, that means you have to have some pretty nasty villains for balance. The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Ralph Ineson and Superman’s Nicholas Hoult definitely both fit the bill, even if their conversation on which arch-nemesis is the bigger threat is a heroic effort of one-upmanship among friends.

The Nosferatu co-stars apparently had quite the discussion, as Ineson shared with THR. While promoting the upcoming Marvel movie, the man who represents Galactus shared the following exchange that he and Hoult had engaged in on the matter:

We actually had a text conversation this morning about it. I sent him something off social media that said that he gave the all-time greatest superhero villain performance, and I said, ‘Hold my beer.’ He then laughed and said, ‘It’s hardly fair. You’re a cosmic entity; I’m just a guy.’ And I said, ‘Fair enough, but I am fighting four of them.’ (Laughs.) And then he said something like, ‘But I get an upset tummy when I eat spicy food.’ So I think he’s given up on the man-on-demigod battle.

How Kevin Smith wasn’t present for this conversation is beyond me, as this is the sort of deep fried comic debate that dude seems to live for. Though I think he'd also give the edge to “the devourer of worlds” in this round of “what if…” I mean, this is a Marvel antagonist with an $80 popcorn bucket, and that's nothing to sneeze at.

All of the positive fan reactions to Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor wouldn’t amount to anything when standing face to face with a baddie that can eat your homeworld like a cosmic TV dinner. If we’re going by performance over powers, I’d have to say that it’s definitely a more even match.

Of course, some would probably want to compare stories such as Ralph Ineson’s preparation to play Galactus with any sort of commentary that the Superman nemesis may have provided. Which only opens the can of worms again, and at a time when Fantastic Four: First Steps is about to hit theaters.

Perhaps this is the best sort of publicity for both director Matt Shakman’s MCU entry and helmer James Gunn’s DCU kickoff. Both movies will need that sort of buzz in their own way, with Superman’s impressive box office milestones about to be challenged by the First Family of Heroes.

The 2025 movie schedule has officially powered up, as Superman is now in theaters and racking up those box office receipts, along with getting some great word of mouth from fans and critics alike, with our own Eric Eisenberg giving the blockbuster a nearly perfect score in his Superman review. We already knew that Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan spoke to “modern” journalists to portray intrepid reporter Lois Lane in the hit, but now she’s getting very real about making out with Clark Kent actor David Corenswet and the appeal of Nicholas Hoult’s bald Lex Luthor head.

What Did Superman’s Rachel Brosnahan Say About Making Out With David Corenswet?

Whenever a director like James Gunn is trying to cast a movie like Superman that has a lot of hopes pinned on it, you can bet that the chemistry of the cast is, well, super important. Seeing as how this film isn’t an origin story, but one where David Corenswet’s Clark/Kal-El/Supes is already a well-known (but under fire) hero and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is already in a relationship with him, the actors had to come in ready to seem like a super couple.

Brosnahan and Corenswet have already garnered a lot of praise for their performances, so it’s clear that Gunn nailed the casting. When speaking to Amanda Seyfried for Interview Magazine, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star was asked if she ever got to set and had days where there were no special effects involved, and she replied:

BROSNAHAN: I got really lucky because my first couple days, we were shooting the 10-page scene that David and I had tested with. It felt like we could have been shooting an indie movie in a basement somewhere, which was amazing because we got to really discover these characters.
SEYFRIED: I wonder if that was on purpose?
BROSNAHAN: I think so. We made out for a couple of hours and then we shot a 10-page-long scene.

We’d heard previously that Corenswet had thought that Barbie talent Emma Mackey would land the role, but apparently, after a “whirlwind” audition with Brosnahan, she landed the gig.

In fact, our newest version of the famed Daily Planet reporter has opened up before about this particular scene (which you will likely know if you’ve already seen the movie), and how it led off filming and helped both stars dive “into the deep end” with their characters, before getting into all of the action and stunts. But, you know, after getting into the making out, which has to be something that bonds actors pretty quick, if they’re going to bond at all.

What Did Superman’s Rachel Brosnahan Say About Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor Baldness?

Though he did shave his head for his role in Mad Max: Fury Road, Nicholas Hoult is definitely getting more notice for his bald head in Superman. Of course, some of this is likely due to the fact that he’s playing legendary baldy/bad guy Lex Luthor.

The currently bleached-blonde actor has already noted that there’s, apparently, “nothing” he won’t do for a role, and considering how his co-star and her Mean Girls interviewer feel about the hairless Hoult and bald dudes in general, maybe we should all hope that he’ll become a Mr. Clean look-a-like again in the future, because the ladies later had this exchange:

BROSNAHAN: Nick is making bald men hot again.
SEYFRIED: I’ve always thought bald men were hot. Am I the only one? I’m like, “You know what you should do? Shave your head.” That’s always my advice to friends of mine.
BROSNAHAN: Really?

I can totally see Seyfried just telling every guy she knows to shave his head, can’t you? She said that she’s given that advice to “at least three” buddies of hers who are “popular actors,” but none of them have listened so far. This might have something to do with an aspect of baldness that Brosnahan says Hoult is in possession of, which one wouldn’t know about until after one has shaved their head:

BROSNAHAN: You have to have a good shaved head, and Nick has a great shaped head for this.
SEYFRIED: He did shave it?
BROSNAHAN: He did. And he was a monster.

She’s not wrong. Mr. Hoult has a great head for baldness, and he’s also an ace when it comes to bringing Lex to life in this current DC tale, as are his co-stars at making sure that fans can become fully invested in our newest Superman story.

Nicholas Hoult landed the role of Lex Luthor even though he auditioned to play the Man of Steel, but there were no hard feelings, as the British actor knew reading the script that the antagonist role was more in his wheelhouse. Still, to best play Superman’s well-known villain, Hoult shared some advice given to him by Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum, who, in turn, had a lovely response to his kind words.

When taking on a timeless role like Lex Luthor for James Gunn’s Superman movie, it helps to get advice from actors who’ve been in the villainous role before. Batman V. Superman’s Lex Luthor’s Jesse Eisenberg's blunt advice to Nicholas Hoult was… basically not to watch his performance.

On the other hand, Nicholas Hoult had the pleasure of meeting the Lex Luthor he grew up watching: Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum. They’ve had a couple of occasions to meet. A year ago, on the American actor’s podcast, the two talked about Hoult getting fit to play the role, and thy met again on set during Rosenbaum’s cameo in Superman. Hoult got real with Entertainment Weekly on what it was like to finally meet the man behind his childhood villain, saying,

Honestly, he was so kind and encouraging, and he really gave me a freedom and a confidence and a support that felt really lovely going into it. He was probably the first person I saw play Luthor when I was growing up. So to get to interact with him and to chat with him beforehand was really special. I appreciate that from him, his time, but also just his encouragement meant a lot.

I completely relate to Nicholas Hoult in growing up watching Michael Rosenbaum play Lex. Smallville was one of the best DC superhero shows for the modern era and introduced younger audiences to the Man of Steel’s beginnings. I remember Rosenbaum was on-point in portraying Lex’s sinister personality while also being low-key – knowing his friendship with Clark Kent would uncover secrets of the Kryptonian native.

It must have been a real dream for Nicholas Hoult to finally meet Michael Rosenbaum. But before they parted ways, the podcaster made sure to impart some sage words of advice onto the next Lex Luthor. Hoult recounted,

The beautiful thing he said was, 'You've got this. Go have fun.' It's a, weirdly, kind of uplifting and wonderful thing to play a character that you've watched someone play and do a brilliant job at, to then have them say, 'Yeah, go get it. Go take it on.' That's a really bolstering sort of thing to happen. It was very kind of him to do that because I suppose it's a weird thing taking on a character that other people have played in some ways. Normally in acting, there's no comparisons, really, when it's a unique character, but when there's been different interpretations, then obviously people do compare.

Michael Rosenbaum may have wanted to take the Lex Luthor role away from Jesse Eisenberg, but it looks like he’s kindly given the go-ahead to Nicholas Hoult.

One can tell Nicholas Hoult was enjoying himself playing the role in a new Superman clip that was released featuring Lex poking fun at Superman for missing his dog. While there may be a lot of pressure to portray a role that’s been done many times before, the actor has earned acclaim for his performance.

Michael Rosenbaum’s Reaction to Nicholas Hoult’s Praises

Nicholas Hoult’s kind words about Michael Rosenbaum didn’t escape the eyes of the talented actor. Rosenbaum took to Instagram to return the favor for Hoult, writing:

So kind of Nicholas to say such lovely things about me. I adore him. He’s a great actor and will knock it out of the park. I told him right off the bat… 'you’re in great hands with James'.

Michael Rosenbaum knows what he’s talking about since he’s worked with James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 as Martinex. I’m sure he trusts that the filmmaker's vision of Lex Luthor would be one his longtime pal would be proud of.

‘My Right Testicle’: David Corenswet Was Asked About His Superman Injuries, And Didn’t Spare Any Details

Playing Superman seems to have been a dream come true for David Corenswet, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t leave the experience with his share of injuries. Some of them one might consider a little personal, but Corenswet seems more than happy to discuss his significant testicle injuries.

Corenswet and Superman co-star (and almost Superman)Nicholas Hoult recently participated in Vanity Fair’s video series, where they hooked each other up to lie detectors and asked each other questions. Hoult had a question about the harness that David Corenswet spent significant time hooked up to, and asked what the most significant bruise he received from it was. Apparently, it was in a fairly…private place. Corenswet said,

My right testicle… It’s this wonderful, epic moment. Where I stand up and punch the glass out, and then I leap out the window and fly through the air. And on the first take of that, it’s this big, epic punch and a leap through the air, and then just–my testicle!

With the advent of CGI, it’s easy to assume that all on-screen flying is done with digital effects and there’s nothing practical at all, but that’s not the case. Hoult actually says that David Corenswet spent a “majority” of the production strapped to a harness. It sounds like bruises all over his body were fairly common.

The shot of Superman trapped in a glass box, and then punching through the glass, is seen in the Superman trailer. After that, the Man of Steel goes flying off, and apparently that included some practical effects with Corenswet in a harness. When it pulled him to fly away, that’s when something grabbed him where it should not have.

It’s only described as a bruise, so as injuries go on movie sets, this wasn’t a Tom Cruise breaking his foot situation that required the movie to stop production. That said, of all the places one can get bruised, that’s not going to be a particularly comfortable one.

Nicholas Hoult, like a lot of us, probably has more than a few follow-up questions. But he’s not sure how to ask them. I’m not sure I blame him. Hoult says…

I want to ask you more questions about your testicles, but I don’t know where to go that’s appropriate.

To be fair, David Corenswet didn’t seem to be too embarrassed to discuss his testicle injury, so Hoult probably could have asked more questions and gotten plenty of answers. As far as we know, everything is fine now. Although based on Superman’s box office success, there will probably be a lot more harness time for the actor in the future. He may want to work on a way to… protect himself.

‘OK Gaston.’ Superman’s Co-Stars Roasted Him For His Diet And Lifting Routine, But David Corenswet Says It Really Wasn’t That Hard

In the era of superhero movies, we’ve heard countless stories about the workouts required to get into superhero shape. While most costumes, except those worn by Dwayne Johnson, do require some padding, actual muscles are also part of the equation. Many actors have discussed how difficult their exercise and diet are, but new Superman David Corensweet says for him, it wasn’t actually that hard.

The cast of Superman, including Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, recently spoke with E! Where Brosnahan mentioned how impressed she was with how much Corenswet was eating, leading Hoult to drop an absolutely perfect rib, referring to him as a classic Disney villain who also ate a lot of protein…

Brosnahan: I feel like I’ve heard people say they never wanted to eat again after bulking for something like this and I really understood it. You had, like, four plates of eggs.
Hoult: OK, Gaston.

David Corenswet wasn’t eating “four dozen eggs” as the line in the song in Beauty and the Beast goes. He would, apparently, eat eight eggs at a sitting, which is still a hell of a lot to eat at once. Corenswet says he got strange looks when he would order that much at restaurants. No word if the wait staff broke into choruses of “Gaston” when he did.

Some actors who need to bulk up for roles have lamented the amount of work they had to do. Jason Momoa has never been shy about admitting he never liked the Aquaman workouts, which makes one assume he feels the same way about his upcoming Lobo role in the upcoming Supergirl movie. However, Corenswet seems to have taken a very pragmatic view, indicating he didn’t mind it so much. He said…

I did a very straightforward regimen of lifting heavy things and eating a lot of calories. And sleeping as much as I could.

The plan may have been straightforward, but even so, it would probably have been difficult for a lot of people. Corenswet makes it sound like it was all easy for him. Although it's possible that in the time leading up to production, this was his entire schedule, which certainly makes things simple.

Some actors who started hitting the gym for roles have stayed with it as they found they enjoyed the workouts, and regular workouts also require a fair amount of calories, but I’m not sure anybody other than The Rock eats like that regularly.

It’s probably a good thing that David Corenswet didn’t mind the exercise or the diet, because based on the box office opening of Superman, the new DC Universe under James Gunn is off to a great start, which means David Corenswet is probably going to need to remain in Superman shape for years to come.

Stepping into the shoes of a legendary character is no easy task for an actor, and that’s especially the case when it comes to a superhero movie. Lex Luthor is just as famous as his heroic nemesis, and Nicholas Hoult brings him to stunning life in the recently released Superman. Fans who’ve been posting to X seem to feel the same way that I do, and one user made a particular bold assertion while praising Hoult’s work:

Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight is iconic and remains revered by many. For his work, the late Ledger also received numerous awards posthumously, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. So the post above signifies a major compliment for the latest actor to embody Lex Luthor. Another user, @BornAgainBalaky, commented on that post, referring to the performance as the “perfect blend of Smallville, animated series, and comic. With a bit of Hackman.”

What that comment refers to is the fact that various actors have taken on the role of Lex over the years. From Gene Hackman (the original Superman films) and Jesse Eisenberg (the DC Extended Universe) to Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) and Michael Cudlitz (Superman & Lois). As a fan myself, I’ve enjoyed many of the iterations of Lex for varying reasons. Just about every version of the character is evil, and Nicholas Hoult’s version of Luthor is now being noted for his dastardly actions in the DCU film:

By now, a number of people surely know that the X-Men: First Class alum originally auditioned for the role of the Big Blue Boy Scout, before David Corenswet was cast. James Gunn has since joked that the British actor’s “hatred” is the reason he ultimately chose to cast him as Lex. The term “hater” has been applied to the envious Luthor on multiple occasions, which is kind of a joke and kind of isn’t. That attribute that one fan believes contributes to one fan’s belief that the DCU now has the "definitive” version of Lex:

He seems to have a keen understanding of the character, which seemed evident during CinemaBlend’s set visit, when he broke down Luthor’s hatred for the Last Son of Krypton. Hoult’s efforts to flesh out his version of the comic book villain don’t seem to have been in vain, given the appreciation that this next fan (and others) have shared:

Nicholas Hoult, famously, is a brunette. However, the guy is not afraid to change his hair at all. He shaved his head for one of the best action movies of all time, Mad Max: Fury Road. Then, he did it again to play Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman, which is set to premiere on the 2025 movie schedule on July 11. Now, he’s bleached his hair blonde for a new role, and his nine-word response about it says it all.

In the midst of promoting the release of Superman, Nicholas Hoult has been talking a lot about his hair, or lack thereof. Part of that is because he shaved it off to play Lex Luthor. However, it’s also a topic of conversation because bleaching it blonde marked another dramatic change in his look. When ET asked him if there was anything he wouldn’t do for a role while referencing his blonde hair, the actor responded with the following nine words:

There is nothing I won’t do for a role.

I believe him, too. Nicholas Hoult has proven time and time again that he’ll change his hair and really go full throttle for just about any performance. As mentioned earlier, he shaved his head to play a War Boy in Mad Max: Fury Road, and then gave an absolutely incredible and wild performance.

Then, years later, he had his son shave his head so he could go bald to play Superman’s iconic bald villain Lex Luthor. So far, reviews for Superman have been solid, with our own Eric Eisenberg giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars. He also called Hoult one of the “standouts” of the ensemble as he infused the iconic villain “with an immortal ego and palpable and unending rage that reads as exceptionally dangerous in combination with his intelligence.”

Now, the actor has dyed his hair in a dramatic way for the new David Leitch movie, How to Rob a Bank, per Vulture.

He’s enjoying the change, too, as he told ET after his nine-word response:

I was dubious about doing it, but I’m happy. I’m enjoying it.

He’s enjoying it, and so is the internet. In the comments on this post, there were tons of heart-eyes emojis, and over the last few weeks of the Superman press tour, the Nosferatu actor and his co-stars have been the objects of pop culture’s desires.

Continuing to prove why this switch-up is so iconic, The Menu star also revealed who bleached his hair for him. While his son shaved his head, a different family member was employed to turn him into a blonde, as he said:

My wife’s aunt did the bleaching this time. We keep it in the family, you know?

I love that he’s keeping it in the family. And I really love how he’s super down to do anything for a role.

Nicholas Hoult’s best movies prove how brilliant he is as a performer, and part of that comes from his willingness to make drastic physical changes. However, it also comes from his incredible skills as an actor, as he’s proven how capable he is of giving everything from huge and outlandish performances (like in The Great) to nuanced and more subtle performances (like in Juror # 2).

A new Superman clip was released that showed Superman and Lex Luthor finally meeting. While I was concerned about the fate of Krypto the dog, it appears that James Gunn's Superman fans noticed one glaring detail. Just when Lex Luthor thought Superman would pose a threat of taking power away from him, I'm sure he didn't see it coming that his super foe would outmatch his height. He'd have to accept that it involves a little bit of a neck raise or investing in some big boots.

On the other hand, I do like that the comments point out that Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet could actually be the same height. However, it’s Clark Kent’s poofed-up hair that makes him look taller. Maybe if Hoult didn’t shave his head to play Lex Luthor, they could have tied?

Based on internet research, David Corenswet’s 6’ 4” does outmatch Nicholas Hoult’s 6’ 3” height. However, director James Gunn didn’t pick the British actor for his upcoming DC movie because of how tall he is. He hired Hoult to play Lex Luthor because of how “full of hatred” Hoult portrayed his character. In the end, being one inch shorter isn’t going to stop Lex from trying to take down Superman, and the caped superhero will be ready for it.

A superhero usually is only as good as his or her villain. We remember the classic Batman villains that have appeared on the big screen almost as much as we remember the actors who stepped into the legendary cape and cowl. To me, the better Spider-Man movies stand out because of the antagonist the wall-crawler faces off against, from Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin to Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus.

When it comes to Superman, we generally want to see him face off against the genius Lex Luthor, who has been played over the years by Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg, and several more. When David Corenswet appears on screen as Supes in the upcoming DC movie Superman, his Lex will be played by the outstanding Nicholas Hoult (who actually read for the part of Clark Kent before landing the villainous role), and he had a lot to say about their dynamic when we spoke with him on the Superman set in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lex Luthor is a maniacal villain, but he comes with layers. There are different ways that an actor can get into the character’s head space. So I asked Nicholas Hoult on the Superman set where his Lex draws his power, and the X-Men: First Class actor told CinemaBend:

He's more of a tech billionaire. One of the things that he values – probably quite highly, and you’ll see throughout the film – is this public image of how people view him. He's managed to keep his more nefarious tactics hidden, so that he does appear to be someone who's only there for good.

The old bait-and-switch. Classic Lex Luthor. Make himself look like the good guy, and try to turn the world against Superman. That’s likely rooted in an instant distrust of Superman because of the enormous power the alien yields. Several other iterations of the Superman-Lex dynamic have explored that paranoia, with Zack Snyder even spilling some of that fear onto his interpretation of Batman. And Hoult tells us that Luthor’s hatred for Superman will be present from the opening frames of James Gunn’s movie, saying to CinemaBlend:

One of the things I loved most about the script the first time I read it is that you get thrown into the middle of a fully developed world and story already. So these characters have already existed in this universe, and you're playing catch up a little bit as an audience member for what the lore is, and what you're dealing with. With Lex, it's this thing of, he has already developed or devised all these plans of how to defeat Superman, and you're playing catch up in terms of what's at play, and the plans unfurling in front of you. So that's kind of where you meet him.

But how close are these adversaries? How long has Supes been on the scene? How long has Lex been observing him, and plotting against him? When I posed those specifics to Nicolas Hoult, he told CinemaBlend:

They are aware of each other, but I don't think they have necessarily met in person. But Lex… one of the things I really love about this version of Lex is that all his beliefs and fears are what drive him, but in some ways, that drive is real. And what he is weary of with what Superman represents is something that could be a real danger and threat to humanity. So in some ways, that was something that I really liked. … It’s his beliefs, and almost his love of humanity, and protection, and a belief in this idea that they should be masters of their own fate and destiny is important to him. The rest of society has fallen into this path of trusting Superman, believing in Superman, and giving him what Lex would view as all power and freedom. So it's like, ‘Where does jurisdiction and law and protection of humanity come into that process?’

These are the heavy questions that James Gunn will look to answer in his Superman, which arrives in theaters on July 11. From what we understand, Luthor is the main villain of the piece, which makes sense. But that opens the door for other questions regarding the role of Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, and whomever that is that Superman is fighting in the baseball stadium in the trailer. A lot left to learn, and personally, I hope they save it all for the movie, instead of ruining it with a longer trailer sometime between now and opening day.

We’re less than two weeks away from seeing Nicholas Hoult play Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman, but anyone familiar with the actor knows this isn’t his first time acting in the superhero genre. He previously starred as Hank McCoy, a.k.a. Beast, in the First Class-era X-Men movies from 2011 to 2019, succeeding Kelsey Grammer in the role. Grammer is now set to play Beast again in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, and Hoult shared his thoughts about the return and if he was ever called about appearing in this or any of the other upcoming Marvel movies.

Nicholas Hoult’s Excited To See Kelsey Grammer And More In Avengers: Doomsday

Back in March, Marvel unveiled the Avengers: Doomsday cast with a livestream that showed off the names of the participating actors on director’s chairs. Among the lineup was Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler and James Marsden as Cylcops, along with Channing Tatum reprising Gambit following his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine. Nicholas Hoult shared his reaction to the cast reveal as follows:

Kelsey was a great Beast. He was the Beast I saw when I was a kid, along with the other actors that they're bringing back, Patrick and Ian and James and all them.

The X-Men film series launched in 2000 and helped popularize the superhero movie genre in Hollywood alongside the Blade and Spider-Man movies. In 2006, Kelsey Grammer appeared as Beast in X-Men: The Last Stand, with the character being depicted as the Secretary of Mutant Affairs. He later cameoed in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but that was the extent of his involvement with the franchise when 20th Century Fox had the film rights. Hoult continued to EW:

Those were the characters that I got to watch in X-Men movies. I'm excited to see what they do with it. It'll be fun to see how they incorporate those characters into that world.

Avengers: Doomsday marks Kelsey Grammer’s second appearance in the MCU, as he made a surprise cameo as Beast in The Marvels’ end-credits scene two years ago. However, this is a different Beast than the one he previously played, with this version being an entirely CGI creation who lives in the same universe as the Maria Rambeau variant who goes by Binary. It remains to be seen if the Beast in Doomsday will be that version or yet another doppelgänger.

Did Marvel Call Nicholas Hoult About Avengers: Doomsday?

So Beast fans can look forward to the blue-furred mutant jumping back into action at the end of next year, but has Nicholas Hoult ever had discussions with Marvel Studios about reprising the character. He gave a simple, one-word response:

No.

It doesn’t get any more cut and dry than that. In fact, none of the First Class-era X-Men actors have returned to their roles since the main film series ended in 2019 with Dark Phoenix. If the multiverse still factors into MCU storytelling after The Multiverse Saga ends, then maybe there will come a day when that changes. For now though, Hoult has enough to keep him busy on the superhero front playing Lex Luthor, because I doubt Superman will be the only time we see him in the DC Universe.

Superman arrives in theaters on July 11, and then Supergirl will keep the theatrical side of the DCU going with a June 26, 2026. Avengers: Doomsday bows in theaters on December 18, 2026, and then Avengers: Secret Wars will close out The Multiverse Saga on December 17, 2027.

Every live-action Superman on film and television has had their own Lex Luthor to contend with, and for James Gunn’s Superman, that pairing is David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult. However, those who’ve been following along with the news cycle focused on the upcoming DC movie for a long time know that Hoult came pretty close being cast as the Man of Steel. Hoult’s story about meeting Corenswet during the audition process is not only amazing, but also ironically wholesome considering how much Luthor hates Superman.

While the actors appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to speak with guest host Diego Luna, Nicholas Hoult recalled how he walked out of doing one of his audition scenes to play Superman thinking, “Yeah, not bad, ok.” The he walked around a corner and saw Corenswet sitting in “one ray of sunshine” in an area of the studio lot with “lots of shadows.” Hoult compared it to when Superman charges up from Earth’s yellow sunlight, and then their first encounter went as follows:

And I walked over to say hello, and he stood up, and I was like, ‘God damn, he’s about an inch taller than me. One Of Superman’s Actors Came Up With A ‘Secret Relationship’ Their Character Has With Lex Luthor, And I Hope This Becomes Canon

While it remains to be seen when The Authority will be released on the upcoming DC movies schedule since it’s currently on the back burner, we’re only about a month away from meeting one of the team’s members. María Gabriela de Faría is starring in James Gunn’s Superman as Angela Spica, a.k.a. The Engineer, who’s working for Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. However, if de Faría has her way, Angela and Luthor would be something so much more, and I’m hoping her wish becomes canon in the DC Universe.

María Gabriela de Faría stopped by the latest episode of the DC Studios Showcase podcast (which also included her co-star Edi Gathegi explaining how playing Mr. Terrific gave him a “redemption arc”) to discuss her role as The Engineer in the 2025 movie release. After the actress went over the details of Angela’s dynamic with Lex Luthor, namely that she’s a “good person at heart” who’s ”extremely broken” and decides to help him out with his mission to rid Earth of “evil aliens” like Superman, she had this to say:

But then I also think that they have a secret relationship, and I kept telling James [Gunn], like, ‘I feel like they fuck!’ Lex is so serious, and he has this gorgeous girlfriend that he treats terribly. So I’m like, what if, after hours, The Engineer gets really mean with Lex and he loves it.

David Corenswet Was In 'A Suspicious Mood' When James Gunn Called To Offer Him Superman, And I Can't Get Over What He 'Really Said' To The Director

The girlfriend de Faría is referring to is Sara Sampaio’s Eve Teschmacher, who was previously played by Valerie Perrine in the first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies and Andrea Brooks in the Supergirl TV series. From what little we’ve seen of Sampaio’s Eve in previews and marketing, she seems obsessed with her looks and taking selfies, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she has a side gig going as an influencer while working as Lex Luthor’s assistant. That, of course, doesn’t excuse him mistreating her.

Strangely though, I see María Gabriela de Faría’s point about how it’d make sense for Angela Spica and Lex Luthor to have an affair going. That’s not to say this dom/sub the Deadly Class alum envisioned wouldn’t be weird, but at least it’d also be entertaining. It doesn’t sound like we’ll get any nod to this in Superman, but if Engineer and Luthor are paired together again in another project, I’m crossing my fingers that James Gunn, who’s also co-president of DC Studios, makes this sexually-charged element of their relationship part of the DCU’s official continuity.

The Engineer and Lex Luthor getting all kinds of freaky will have to be left up to the imagination for now, but we’ll get to see the former’s nanotech abilities on display when Superman hits theaters on July 11. Her visually-dazzling enhancements will make her a formidable threat not just to David Corenswet’s Man of Steel, but also Krypto the Superdog and the robots in the Fortress of Solitude, as seen in the most recent Superman trailer.

Superman Trailer Is As Epic As James Gunn Promised, And Not Even Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern Haircut Can Sway My Excitement

Remember in April when James Gunn called David Corenswet’s Superman “beautiful” in that behind-the-scenes video that teased new looks at so many other amazing cast members? Well, after watching the first full-length trailer for the DCU-launching Superman, I feel comfortable cribbing Gunn’s use of “beautiful” to describe everything about it. Except maybe Supes being viewed as a threat!

One of the most anticipated upcoming 2025 movies by a long shot, Superman Is obviously far from the first time comic book fans have seen the hero in live-action on the big screen, but it's never been in a movie that looked quite like this!

I mean, we're all quite grateful that Nathan Fillion's dorky 'do as Green Lantern Guy Gardner was never actualized on film before. But at least there are so many other things to distract me and sway me from poking fun at the fan-favorite actor.

Distractions like, I dunno, Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane interrogating, er, interviewing David Corenswet's Clark-as-Superman, where her words alone are able to work the alien hero up into a mild frenzy while defending some of his past actions that, while beneficial to some, was highly damaging to others. It'll be amazing if James Gunn gives Superman the most complicated version of the "trolley problem" imaginable.

If that were to happen, I don't think it's necessarily out of logic's bounds to think that the giant rocky kaiju creature might be the "trolley" in question. I can't think of any possible way for that thing to be stopped without a truly depressing amount of destruction and death involved. Perhaps Mr. Terrific can whip up a giant catapult...

If there’s a problem with the way Marvel’s multiverse works, it’s that you sometimes have to choose which incarnation of a character you’d like to see again. The 2025 movie schedule doesn’t seem to have that problem just yet, but with Kelsey Grammer returning as part of Avengers: Doomsday’s massive cast list, some might say that the real (Dr. Hank) McCoy has returned. And just as you’d suspect, the Frasier vet is someone that’s on Team Kelsey - but not without praise for Nicholas Hoult.

Kelsey Grammer Hasn’t Seen Nicholas Hoult’s Beast Performance

During an appearance on Literally with Rob Lowe podcast to discuss his latest memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, Mr. Grammer admitted that he’d heard the buzz surrounding Hoult’s X-Men prequel performance as the hero also known as Beast. But he also revealed that he had his reasons for keeping that incarnation at a hairy arm’s distance:

I heard lovely things about the young man that ended up playing Beast, but I didn’t really watch it. I nursed the hope that one day I’d get to play him again.

As someone who loves both the Kelsey Grammer and Nicholas Hoult portrayals of Hank McCoy, I can totally see why the classic era Beast would employ such a strategy. But at the same time, I couldn’t help but get pretty pumped myself when that Doomsday announcement video revealed the OG was back once again.

To be fair though, those feelings were primed by The Marvels’ post-credits scene. And you may be surprised to know that particular moment was the catalyst for Grammer’s second reprise.

Apparently The Marvels’ Post-Credit Scene Was The Clincher For Kelsey Grammer’s Return

For as much as Marvel movie fans love to harp on The Marvels for their own special reasons, I’m amazed that this seemingly controversial entry was the spark that allowed Kelsey Grammer to go full Beast mode again. Further along in the interview, the Cheers alum described how his desire to play the part eventually saw him land this particular cameo; leading to this anecdote about how the MCU’s loyal fans put in a good word:

…the response when [the audience] saw Beast was apparently pretty breathtaking, and that was my ticket. They called me a while later and said, ‘We think we wanna put you in another movie.’ So I’m really excited.

“Excited” kind of feels like an understatement, especially if you’re a fan of the Fox era X-Men movies. Though now that Kelsey Grammer has admitted that Marvels guest spot helped bring him into the MCU proper, there is the question of whether this eventually inspired the decision to bring back a lot of the stars that made those pictures (conveniently available to stream with a Disney+ subscription) into smashing successes.

One final amusing note that Mr. Grammer offered in his chat with Rob Lowe is the intense secrecy that surrounded The Marvels’ multiversal moment. And that veil of obscurity is still very much in play in the lead up to Avengers: Doomsday, as the Beast actor could only say the following about the next chapter:

I’ve had a preliminary introduction to the idea. They’re still very secretive about the script. Which is ok. It’s like industrial espionage.

You can keep your secrets Dr. McCoy, as Avengers: Doomsday won’t be in theaters until May 1, 2026; and we certainly wouldn’t want all of the secrets to be given away beforehand. The road to the X-Men’s future-past continues to take some interesting twists, and who knows what’ll happen next? Personally, I think we need a Grammer/Hoult team up at some point, specifically in my dream Avengers vs. X-Men movie to bridge the gap between Doomsday and Secret Wars. But baby steps, I suppose.

We’ve already heard so much about filming James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, but there's always more to learn before the flick hits theaters later this year. The upcoming 2025 movie has been hotly anticipated as it is ushering in a new era for DC movies on the big screen, and it’s bringing a brand new Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor to the big screen. It’s all so new that even the actors were mesmerized by seeing new lead David Corenswet in the suit for the first time (but humorously he had a bit of a different reaction).

Our Warner Bros. CinemaCon 2025 panel live blog already touched on Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan coming onstage, but my favorite moment happened when the Lois Lane actress and Lex Luthor actor revealed what it was like to see Corenswet in the suit for the first time.

I have a clear memory of this. I was on a set and David, dressed as Superman, was kind of illuminated from behind. It was one of those moments where I felt like I experienced the magic of cinema for the first time.

Of course, it’s worth noting Hoult was on set to portray the literal villain in the movie, but he said that when filming the pivotal nighttime scene, he was more like a kid in a candy store. This wasn’t an unusual reaction for people seeing Superman on set, apparently, as Hoult humorously went on to describe how he felt he was having an emotional moment, then he turned around to see so many other people having the same reaction...

I had this warmth in my tummy, this stupid grin on my face... I turn around and there’s 50 other people in the room, all with the same look.

Brosnahan said while promoting the upcoming DC movie that she can distinctly recall her co-star’s “cape blowing in the distance” while they filmed a scene in the moonlight. It was spectacular for the newcomer actress on set, who has previously shared her five-word response to the first time she saw Superman’s look, but for Corenswet it was just another day in the suit.

I turned to him and was like, ‘Dude, you’re Superman.’ He was like, ‘Yeah I’ve been here many many months.’ [Laughed]

Of course, they'd forgotten one truth: If you are the guy playing Superman and you’ve been donning the cape and tights for many months, getting illuminated by some moonlight is not really that exciting. In fact, we’ve heard a lot in the past about how unglamorous it can be to film superhero movies. There are green screens and wire work, sweaty suits and just the humdrum that is actually the day-to-day of making movies. It can take hours and hours to make things just so.

For example, fans have been loving Superman’s air kiss in the trailer, but Corenswet also debunked that being a cool moment for him. He noted it’s “a lot less romantic when you’re being hoisted in the air by your underwear,” and I take his point about the Lois Lane kissing scene. But for those who weren’t personally involved in the trunks versus no trunks debate, and who weren’t on set with the superhero suit on from Day 1 like Corenswet, being on set did become something a bit more majesti.

Now let’s just hope that majesty plays out on the big screen.

James Gunn’s Reasons For Hiring Nicholas Hoult To Play Lex Luthor Are Still Cracking Me Up

Of all the films on the 2025 movie schedule, one of the most anticipated projects might be James Gunn’s Superman. The movie is the big screen reinvention of the most popular comic book character of all time, and it's part of a relaunch of the new DC cinematic universe. However, a hero is only as good as his villain, and Superman will have one of the all-time greats as Lex Luthor will be played by Nicholas Hoult.

Hoult had been trying to find his place in the comic book movie landscape. He had previously been on the short list to play Batman in the role that eventually went to Robert Pattinson. He also came close to playing Superman himself before David Corenswet took the part. Instead, James Gunn cast him as Lex Luthor. Gunn jokes to Fandango that the reason is that Hoult is just a very angry man, saying…

I hired him because I said, ‘This man is so full of hatred.’

James Gunn is, of course, having some fun with the actor. Hoult plays into it too, acting like he hates being part of the interview. The Nosferatu actor has played his share of bad guys over the years, so he certainly has experience with that sort of role. He may not be full of hatred, but he’s not bad at playing it.

The trailer for Superman has shown Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, but it hasn't revealed much about the character. Luthor has been portrayed in a number of different ways in the comics and on screen. Gunn’s comments about hatred here would seem to indicate that it will be the prevailing emotion of the character, which will actually make for a version of Luthor in the upcoming DC movie we haven’t seen on screen before.

One of the things about the new Superman that will likely be the biggest question going in will be how the movie will differentiate itself from the other iterations we’ve seen before. A Luthor who just hates Superman on a deep level will be something quite different. It will also show some great acting on the part of Nicholas Hoult, who, as we see here, isn’t all that full of hatred.

To be fair, if I had been passed over for two major superhero roles, I might start to get a little angry myself, but Hoult is clearly taking it all in stride.

He’s found that major comic book role that he was looking for. And while we don’t know what Luthor’s fate in Superman will be, it seems unlikely he’ll only appear in a single movie with the larger DCU just getting underway. We'll find out when Superman hits theaters in July.

Superman’s Cast Got Asked About What Other DC Characters They’d Love To Play, And Nicholas Hoult Hilariously Threw Back To His Failed Batman Audition

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Superman is going to be one of the tentpole upcoming movies this summer (though there may be a question of how tentpole), so anticipation was high about what we might learn about the movie ahead of us live-blogging Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon 2025 event. The studio saved its best for last, and brought out James Gunn along with the three leads in the new (potential) franchise: our David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan (who method dressed in a dress nodding to The Daily Planet) and Nicholas Hoult. The latter tends to be very funny and amusingly threw back to his previous failed DC auditions while onstage.

Here’s what happened. While I thought I was more interested in hearing about how Krypto the Superdog got fleshed out in James Gunn’s weird and wonderful brain, it turns out an innocuous question posed to our two heroes (and one villain) really took the cake during the panel for me. When asked what other DC characters they’d love to play, our newest Lex Luthor went right for the jugular and tackled the elephant in the room: his previous failed Batman (and Superman) auditions.

Well, I auditioned for Batman and Superman. … It’s funny, the first time I read [the script] there [was] an inkling I’d be a better Lex. So, when James called me and said, 'How about Lex,' I was like, ‘Shit that’s who I should be playing all along.’

An unexpected answer, for sure, but fitting as well, and the way he delivered the unfortunate reminder was funny, to boot. Back in 2019, Hoult auditioned for Batman alongside Robert Pattinson, who ultimately landed the role. He confirmed the reports himself later, admitting he wouldn’t have “done as good a job” as the other actor did.

He also auditioned for the role that ultimately went to David Corenswet, before ultimately coming to his senses and realizing he really was a better fit for a villain in the upcoming DC movie.

Having said this, it might seem like Hoult is 0 for 2 in the hero game, but he’s actually 1 for 3 if you’re counting Marvel, where he played Beast in the previous X-Men trilogy (after a weird audition involving a Family Guy character).

As for fellow co-stars Corenswet and Brosnahan, both had intriguing ideas for where they’d go in Gunn’s new era of DC. Corenswet said he “loved the animated series when Batman and Superman switched spots” and he’d like to play out that arc. Brosnahan said she, like Hoult, would love to try her hand at playing a female Lex Luthor, and promised she’d “commit to shaving” her head. I'm kind of now wondering what Brosnahan would have been like as Cassandra Nova, but I digress.

The three will make their DC debut as Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor on July 11, 2025.

Nosferatu’s DP Reveals The Scenes That Were ‘A Pain In The A--‘ To Film, And Having Seen The Movie, I Understand Why

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu was one of last year's most visually striking horror movies, with its haunting atmosphere and eerie, moonlit cinematic aesthetic–which has a surprising Batman Returns connection. But achieving that gothic beauty wasn’t easy. Cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, who has worked with Eggers on The Lighthouse, The Witch, and The Northman, recently opened up about the painstaking process of filming the critically well-received vampire flick. And let’s just say—if you’ve seen the movie like me, you probably won’t be surprised by what scenes gave the crew the most trouble.

Blaschke detailed the challenges of crafting Nosferatu’s distinct visual style during an interview with THR. Eggers aimed to set this adaptation apart from F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic by infusing it with a unique sense of romance, a far cry from the harsh expressionism of its predecessor. However, even beyond the film’s stylized lighting, some sequences proved to be logistical nightmares.

One particular standout was the breathtaking crossroads scene, where a carriage arrives to collect Thomas (Nicholas Hoult) for his fateful journey to meet Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård). Blaschke admitted, as stunning as it looks on screen, the scene was anything but easy to pull off:

That was a pain in the ass. Also, the numerous candle scenes — you’re trying to light the candles and they’re burning out as quickly as you’re lighting them and you have all these 80-year-old nuns and you’re trying to not have wax fall on them or have candles fall on them and set them on fire.

Trying to keep candles burning consistently for takes while ensuring the safety of elderly extras? Not exactly the easiest task, and that wasn’t the only challenge.

Blaschke admitted that nearly every day of filming came with new hurdles, adding:

There were plenty of challenges; you could ask me on any given day, and I’ll give you a different answer.

One particularly tricky moment involved orchestrating a complex scene in which Nicholas Hoult’s character, Thomas, stumbles upon Count Orlok in his sarcophagus. The setup required perfect timing, precise lighting, and a moving mirror that demanded months of planning to execute correctly.

Despite these production hurdles, Blaschke’s meticulous work paid off in a major way. Nosferatu became one of the best horror movies of 2024 and racked up multiple 2025 Oscar nominations, including Best Cinematography, as well as recognition for Hair and Makeup, Costume Design, and Production Design.

The film’s commitment to classic horror aesthetics—using period-accurate lighting techniques, deep shadows, and practical effects—sets it apart from modern genre fare, further solidifying it as a standout entry in Eggers’ filmography and a worthy addition to vampire cinema.

It’s not just horror fans and The Academy who are impressed either. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese recently shared his thoughts on Nosferatu, and let’s just say he was blown away. As somebody who covers the entertainment world, I’m lucky in that I sometimes get to meet some pretty big celebrities. While it’s happened a not insignificant number of times, it never gets old and I’m always a little starstruck when I meet somebody whose work I particularly appreciate. It turns out that even when you are a famous celebrity, meeting famous celebrities can still wow you, as Nicholas Hoult can attest from meeting fellow X-Men star Halle Berry.

Both Halle Berry and Nicholas Hoult were part of Fox’s X-Men franchise, though they were from two different generations. Berry played Storm in the original trilogy, while Hoult appeared as Beast in the prequel series that started with X-Men: First Class. Both actors did appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past however, and while they were never on set together, Hoult tells W Magazine that he met the actress, who he called his “celebrity crush” during the press for the film. She left him starstruck, as he explained…

Halle Berry. I got to meet her briefly when we were doing X-Men: Days of Future Past. We didn't really have any scenes together, but during press we did a couple of group interviews, and I said hello and then I was starstruck.

Honestly, I’m not sure anybody could blame Nicholas Hoult. Halle Berry is one of those stars that I think would stun most of us who don’t know her, even if she wasn’t already your celebrity crush growing up. Just being in the same movie with her had to be pretty impressive, even before he had a chance to meet her.

Of course, Nicholas Hoult is a movie star in his own right, and one has to believe others would be just as impressed with meeting him. Anybody who doesn’t know how incredibly Nicholas Hoult is will likely find out very soon. A lot of people will likely see him in the Superman cast as Lex Luthor. If I get to interview him when the time comes, you can be sure I’ll be at least a little starstruck.

Perhaps Nicholas Hoult and Halle Berry will work together again in an upcoming Marvel movie. The future of the X-Men in the MCU is still unclear, so it's possible they could both still reprise their roles at some point. One assumes Hoult wouldn't mind meeting Halle Berry again.

When it comes to embodying chilling characters in some of the best horror movies, Bill Skarsgård is no stranger to going all-in. From his sinister portrayal of one of the creepiest clowns in film, Pennywise in It Chapters 1 and 2, to his recent transformation into the iconic Count Orlok in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, the actor has a knack for bringing nightmares to life. But it turns out that the Swedish-born star’s on-screen intensity isn’t just for audiences—his co-star, Nicholas Hoult, admitted that he found the Boy Kill’s World vampiric appearance terrifying on set.

Speaking with our sister site Games Radar+ at the UK premiere of Nosferatu, the former X-Men: First Class star shared how Bill Skarsgård’s physicality and commitment to his role created a genuinely intimidating presence on set. Talking with the outlet, he shared:

The entire Nosferatu cast seems to agree with Hoult, as many of them have gone on record sharing how Skarsgård’s character is the scariest thing they've ever seen. And, having seen the movie, I tend to agree. The intensity the actor brings is exactly what fans of him, Eggers, and the horror genre have come to expect.

His take on the classic 1922 silent film is no different, as it is a haunting reimagining of the original story with enough originality, especially in its final act, to keep new and old audiences on the edge of their seats. With Bill Skarsgård in the role of Count Orlok, the titular vampire pursuing Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen Hutter, it is genuinely one of the most disturbing cinematic experiences I’ve had with any of the 2024 movie releases.

Skarsgård has more than earned his reputation as a master of monstrous transformations. After haunting our dreams as the shapeshifting Pennywise, he’s now tackled one of horror’s most iconic roles: Count Orlok His take on the character is fresh, unapologetically dark, and uniquely grotesque, setting it apart from past interpretations of the material.

Critics are already heaping praise on Nosferatu, calling it one of the best vampire movies of recent years, and much of that acclaim stems from The Crow actor’s spine-chilling, unrecognizable performance. Frankly, it’s no shock that he managed to intimidate even his co-stars on set—it’s just what the Barbarian alum does best.

The Hilarious Story Behind Nicholas Hoult Taking Home Nosferatu's Penis And What Happened When He Tried To Get It Framed

Critics have called Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu a wide variety of adjectives, including“cryptic, beautiful, and unsettling.” CinemaBlend's Nosferatu review even calls it "bloody" and "sexy." But I haven't heard the word "hilarious" up until this point. Despite how chilling the actual upcoming horror film is, there are still behind-the-scenes moments that easily gave the cast and crew a good laugh. One of the film’s leads, Nicholas Hoult, recently talked about taking home Count Orlok’s prosthetic penis and the hilarious story behind going to a shop and getting it framed.

Knowing how terrifying Nosferatu should be on the big screen, finding humor in the horror remake might make it easier for you to approach your seat. If you want to hear a really funny behind-the-scenes story from Hoult’s time making the 2024 movie release, he told his co-star, Lily-Rose Depp, in an Elle video the one prop/wardrobe piece he’s taken from the Nosferatu set. Yes, it was that prosthetic penis:

I have Count Orlok’s prosthetic penis framed at home. There's a scene where Bill Skarsgård is slurping my blood, and Robert Eggers asked afterward, ‘How was that for you?’ The director asked, and I said, ‘I could feel his prosthetic penis on my leg.’ And then, as a wrap gift, Rob got it framed, and he sent it to my house.

Well, I suppose it would definitely be a memorable prop to remind him of the days a Transylvanian vampire sucked his blood. Fortunately for us, the story gets weirder from there.

It wasn’t enough for Count Orlok’s prosthetic penis to be in its natural form. The special prop piece had an actual frame, which the actor says later broke. This meant he legitimately had to take the Nosferatu prop to again be framed in all of its glory and this is when the additional hilarity ensued:

The frame had broken when it got [to my house], so I had to take it to the local frame shop and I had to be like, ‘Hey, dude, can you fix this?’ He kind of didn’t even blink the first time, and then when I went back to pick it up, I think he had clocked how weird it was, what I was framing, potentially, like, this vampire penis. He was like, ‘Is this some kind of collector’s piece?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, you could say that.’

To note, the transformation of Bill Skarsgård becoming Count Orlok was intense and even left the Barbarian actor more “terrified” than when he played It’s Pennywise. He admitted being afraid that he wouldn’t be able to get into character with all of the prosthetic pieces on him. The fact that the horrifying vampire even had a prosthetic penis shows what dedication they put into the character’s appearance. Considering the cast of Nosferatu called Skarsgård’s character “one of the most terrifying things” they ever saw, it seems clear the Swedish actor’s trend of playing these sorts of roles paid off once again. With advertisements not even showing the vampire character’s face, the mystery surrounding Count Orlok’s appearance has only grown my (alarmed) anticipation.

It’s sure a collector’s piece now. I'm truly curious about what the prosthetic penis looks like hanging in The Great actor’s house. It’s nice to know that Hoult looking at that low-hanging prop piece should bring him humor compared to any blood-curling trauma he endured for our entertainment this holiday season.

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, arriving in theaters tomorrow, is not what one would call a traditional Christmas release. Instead of featuring any holiday cheer or gift-giving, it's more about instilling terror and monstrous murder. This contrast made for easy fodder in a recent Nicholas Hoult interview with talk show host Seth Meyers, who jokingly refers to the film as a "Christmas romp," but the conversation took a hard turn toward the terrifying when the actor discussed an experience of real fear during the making of the new horror movie.

This past week, Nicholas Hoult was a guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and during a discussion about portraying terror in a performance, the Superman star revealed that one particular scene in the movie didn't really require any "acting." There is a scene in Nosferatu where his character, real estate agent Thomas Hutter, is being chased by wolves set loose by Bill Skarsgård's Count Orlok, and there were real animals used on set. Said Hoult,

Robert Eggers, the director, is incredible, so I trusted him. There was one time where it was true fear, where we have these wolves in the movie. They were chasing me out of a window as I’m trying to escape Count Orlok’s castle. And I’m like running on the spot and getting hyped for the take, and they’re like being held back from me on leashes, barking, like with death in their eyes. They want to eat.

In the Nosferatu sequence, Thomas Hutter is chased through tight corridors and makes his way through a window, but there was one take where Nicholas Hoult got a bit tripped up. The production had to reset and reshoot because the actor made a silly face in the moment, but in watching playback, Hoult saw himself experiencing true fear because he realized that he didn't know what would have happened if the wolves had actually caught him. He continued,

I was like, ‘Whew, ok, this is intense.’ And then there’s a time where I run and I slip, and I nearly don’t make it out the window as they’re chasing me, as they’re like let loose after me. And I got out, but then Rob was like, ‘Cut, cut, cut. No, you pulled a silly face. We can’t use that.’ He was like, ‘Come watch, look what your face did.’ And my face does go like, ‘Wheeew.’ I was like, ‘Yeah that’s not great, but so you know, that’s real fear.’ Because I realized I didn’t ask what would happen if the wolves got to me.

Nicholas Hoult further admits that he never actually got an answer to that particular, important question. That's a bit freaky to think about – but it also means that he only had that one close call; the wolves never caught up to him.

Audiences everywhere will be able to experience this moment of extreme fear for themselves starting tomorrow, as Nosferatu will be playing in theaters everywhere on December 25. The Classic Acting Advice Nicholas Hoult Got From Clint Eastwood On Juror No. 2: 'I’ll Ask The Dumb, Stupid Question'

Nicholas Hoult knew he had the opportunity of a lifetime when he signed on to Clint Eastwood’s latest critically acclaimed film, Juror No. 2. Eastwood is not only an incredibly accomplished director, but also one of the biggest film stars of all time. Actors for generations have looked up to the Oscar winner, and his unrelenting filmmaking endeavors. While working with the legendary movie star, Hoult asked for acting advice, and Eastwood responded with sound perspective on the art form.

In a recent interview with People Magazine Hoult opened up about working with the Dirty Harry star, and what made Eastwood different from many of the directors he’d worked with in the past. Hoult praised Eastwood, and also talked about his general creative process, and his more easy going approach to the artform. While some may have been intimidated to ask such an icon of American movies about acting advice, Hoult thought that not doing so would be a missed opportunity. He said:

When you're in the presence of a greatness like that, it's like, 'I'll ask the dumb stupid question.' I'll say like, 'Hey, how do you act? What do you do?'And he said it's an emotional and instinctive art form. So don't think too much — just do.

This is pretty sound advice, as actors have frequently talked about the craft in terms of “becoming” a character. If you’ve done enough character work and know the person you're playing inside and out, behaving and responding as the character should be instinctual. If the emotionality is felt, acting emotionally should come naturally. Even as movies evolve and filmmaking techniques get more advanced, the bare-bones of performance technique seems to remain the same, even as Hollywood welcomes new generations of actors.

Of course, different actors have different approaches to character work. Some of the most intense performers like to embody their characters to their fullest extent. Daniel Day Lewis famously would embody and behave like his characters off screen. Jeremy Strong is also known for his intense character approach, often isolating himself during Succession to maintain his character’s head space. However, Clint Eastwood with his simplistic advice seems to have more of a “in the moment” approach to his characters, and maybe Nicholas Hoult will adapt this attitude as well.

It doesn't come as a surprise that Eastwood would have a “no frills” approach to acting, as this also seems to be his approach to filmmaking. The 94-year-old director famously does minimal takes during production. Matt Damon once said Eastwood expressed annoyance when he asked for more during Invictus. Clearly, the director relies a lot on his instincts and hopes that his actors do the same. There can be beauty in the mistakes, and if you take on Eastwood’s perspective to performance, nailing it in one take should be a breeze.

James Gunn's Superman Trailer Blew Me Away With Its Majestic Flights And Bone-Crunching Fights

The first moment that we see David Corenswet’s Man of Steel in James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman, he isn’t looking very super. The iconic DC superhero plummets from the skies and crashes down onto the snowy tundra, seemingly near his Fortress of Solitude. Superman has been beaten and battered. He’s coughing up blood, injuries sustained in a fight we didn’t get to see. Speaking of not seeing things, the very next beat of the first Superman trailer features something we have never seen in a live-action Superman movie.

James Gunn’s DC universe officially is underway with this exciting, action-packed and triumphant trailer, which you can watch at the top of this story.

You can tell that James Gunn assembled this trailer with his team knowing that every frame was going to be scrutinized by a ravenous fan base. DC crowds have not had a proper, standalone Superman movie since Zack Snyder delivered his unique origin story Man of Steel back in 2013. That film led into a Batman versus Superman team up movie that eventually killed off the Blue Boy Scout, and fans have been waiting for some form of a return for years.

During an event in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of the first Superman trailer, writer and director James Gunn told journalists:

I was incredibly rigorous with the trailer. And it went through a lot of iterations until I was happy with it. And there was only one thing that was on the forefront of my mind, was that the trailer has to be an authentic representation of what the film is. It doesn't have to have every single element that’s in the film, obviously. But it has to show what is the basic essence of the movie, and the story we're telling. And I think that it does that, but it took a lot of work to get there.

So what do we see? As one might expect from a Superman movie, we see the dichotomy of the all-powerful Superman in action, and the bumbling physicality that is Clark Kent (also Corenswet) at The Daily Planet, or in conference with his paternal figure, Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince). We get glimpses of the staple characters in the universe, from intrepid reporter Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) to the sinister Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), holding a gun that I have to assume is loaded to Kryptonite bullets?

But the unique aspect of James Gunn’s Superman is that the hero will be inserted into a universe that – from a narrative standpoint – already is up and running. So when the action kicks in, we see Superman (Corenswet) battling creatures alongside Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), a member of the Green Lantern Corp. We catch a shot of Superman mourning what looks like the robots that protect his Fortress of Solitude, and fighting a being who is rumored to be Ultraman. There’s a lot happening here for DC fans to process.

Luckily, we have several months to work it all out. Superman is due in theaters on July 11, 2025, and will continue the expansion of this new DC universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran. What was your favorite part of this new look at the impending blockbuster?

Adaptations of DC Comics have been enjoying a successful run as of late. The great Colin Farrell extended his run as Oz Cobb from the Matt Reeves Batman universe in his critically acclaimed limited series The Penguin, available with a Max subscription. James Gunn properly launched his reboot of the DC Universe with the animated series Creature Commandos, which is winning fans over with another ensemble of loveable weirdos like Weasel, G.I. Robot, and a possessive Eric Frankenstein. And DC is poised to release one of the most anticipated blockbusters of 2025 when Gunn brings Superman back to movie theaters, portrayed on screen by David Corenswet. Earlier this week, I was able to bring you my first report from the Superman set. Thursday, we will have a full trailer. But today, it’s your first tease at Corenswet’s Man of Steel, in action!

This is, without question, a tease for a tease. The slogan for James Gunn’s Superman is “Look up!” And that’s what many in Metropolis are doing in the clip: Looking up to see the arrival (return?) of the hero they call their own. Superman (David Corenswet) will be stepping into the boots of DC’s most iconic superhero for an adventure that has been years in the making. This will be the first live-action feature film in Gunn’s DCU, bringing the “God” to what the writer/director has called the “Gods and Monsters” story arc. And it’s the kick off of a series of stories that we think DC will be able to tell for the next 20 years, if they play their cards right.

So what do we see here? The biggest thing, outside of the briefest shots of Superman in flight, is an excellent look at the Superman cast, led by Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen. These are staples of the Superman story, and this shot of them looking out the window of The Daily Planet signifies that something massive is going on in the skies above Metropolis. What trouble could Superman be fending off? We should find out when the full Superman trailer arrives on Thursday morning.

A couple of things that are missing from this teaser? No shots of David Corenswet as Clark Kent, because I am very curious what his bumbling reporter looks like in action. Nothing yet on Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), or the various DC characters that we know are going to be part of this evolving story – heroes like Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, or the presence of a Green Lantern in Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner. These are things that I hope we get to see in the full trailer. Maybe even a better shot of Krypto than the one that was teased in a motion poster?

The full trailer for Superman will arrive on Thursday, December 19. Then, we settle in for the movie, which is due in theaters on July 11, 2025. It’s easily one of the most hotly anticipated upcoming 2025 movies, whether you are a fan of the comic-book genre or not. DC’s Blue Boy Scout is almost all the way back with us. We can’t wait to see him flying high once again.

Juror #2 - December 20 (Max)

Directed by Clint Eastwood, in what could be his last film, the movie was largely overlooked in theaters, but those who saw Juror #2 seemed to love it, and now it will be available for a much wider audience.

Clint Eastwood's Juror #2 Was Basically Ignored In Theaters. Now It's Getting Raves From Audiences, And I Can't Figure Out Why The Studio Gave Up On It

Excuse me, but what happened with the release of Juror #2 on the 2024 movie schedule? This film was directed by the legendary actor and “badass” director Clint Eastwood, and it features an all-star lineup of performers, including Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, Chris Messina, J.K. Simmons and Kiefer Sutherland. Not to mention, the movie is a heart-pounding courtroom thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. So, your honor, I ask again, why did the studio seemingly give up on this movie? Because people sure seem to love it (myself included).

Juror #2 Has Gotten Nowhere Near The Attention It Deserves From The Studio

Back in October, it became apparent that Warner Bros. was seemingly burying Juror #2. To be clear, this film, which was rumored to potentially be Eastwood’s last, was getting a very limited version of a limited release.

When the drama came out in October, Variety reported that the plan was to play it in less than 50 theaters, Vulture then noted that it played in 28 cinemas on its opening weekend. For context, AMC has 900 theaters across the world while Regal has 425 theaters in the US, that’s a massive number, and we aren’t even counting smaller chains and local cinemas yet. So, 28 is nothing, and at the time, there was no plan to expand Eastwood’s movie release either.

On top of that, WB did not report the film’s domestic box office grosses, which isn’t normal, and Variety noted that it wasn’t featured on the studio’s FYC page. However, it is now.

Notably, the film has gotten quite a bit of attention over all this, because as more people see the movie, they realize how great it is!

However, I Saw Juror #2 In Theaters, And I Loved It

As Juror #2 reactions from critics started to roll in, it became clear that this film was worth seeing. Plus, being familiar with Clint Eastwood’s best work and a fan of Nicholas Hoult’s finest films, I figured I’d enjoy it.

So, I drove 45 minutes out of my way to see Juror #2, because thankfully out of the ten AMCs I live within an hour of, one was playing it. And I was right, this movie rocks.

Following Hoult’s juror Justin as he goes through jury duty and deals with a serious personal dilemma related to the case he’s helping call the verdict for, this film is so enticing. The complexity of the issue at hand (which I don’t want to spoil) is what makes this movie so thrilling, and the way Hoult plays it out is near perfection.

Plus, when you mix Eastwood’s collected direction with the ensemble’s brilliant performances, you get a project that is honestly wonderful and deserving of attention. However, I’m not the only one who thinks this, critics and audiences do too.

I’m Not The Only One, Juror #2 Also Has An Outstanding Rotten Tomatoes Score

If you take a look at Rotten Tomatoes, it’s abundantly clear that Juror #2 is a hit among those who have seen it.

Take a moment to reflect on these numbers. Based on 135 critics’ reviews, this film’s Tomatometer sits at 93%. Meanwhile, over on the Popcornmeter, over 250 “verified ratings” from fans puts the flick at 92%. That’s guaranteed certified fresh right there, so now there’s really no telling why it was buried when it was initially released.

To add some reasoning to these numbers, here are a few reviews written by the fans:

Now, many other reviews from critics and fans alike point out that the movie is by no means perfect. However, it is compelling and wildly entertaining, so it’s confusing why it didn’t get much love from the studio during its release.

Thankfully, Juror #2 is about to be available to a much wider audience, because it’s out on VOD, and it will be steamable with a Max subscription starting December 20. So, hopefully, an entirely new and large audience will find and enjoy this courtroom thriller, because it deserves appreciation.

‘Cryptic, Beautiful And Unsettling’: Critics Have Seen Nosferatu, And They Have Strong Feelings About Robert Eggers’ Horror Remake

It’s been nearly 10 years since it was announced that Robert Eggers would be remaking one of the best horror flicks of all time in Nosferatu. Thankfully the long wait is about to come to an end, with the film starring Bill Skarsgård as its titular monster making its debut on the 2024 movie calendar on Christmas Day. It sounds like horror fans might be in for a pretty frightening experience, given that Skarsgård has said his Count Orlok is even more terrifying than Pennywise in It, who he played in the 2017 and 2019 adaptations.

First reactions to the 2024 Nosferatu remake seemed to support that claim, as critics were ready to sink their teeth into the movie, which also stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp and a host of other talent. Let’s see what they’re saying now that they can expand on their initial thoughts, starting with CinemaBlend’s review of Nosferatu. Eric Eisenberg rates the film 4 out of 5 stars, noting the irony but standing by his statement that Robert Eggers has breathed new life into the classic vampire tale, with help from a truly transformed leading actor. He says:

It’s Bill Skarsgård’s turn as Count Orlok that is the greatest achievement of Nosferatu. If it weren’t for the fact that the actor’s name is in the cast, one would be hard-pressed to identify him in the role, as it is a full and masterful transformation. His co-stars may not do region-accurate accents, but he entrances with a deep and rolling Romanian brogue, the words uttered from rotting lips beneath a thick, long, black mustache. He emanates control with his presence, but he is also very much an animated corpse.

Becky Darke of GamesRadar also gives the upcoming horror movie 4 stars out of 5, saying that despite its relatively straightforward retelling of a classic tale, the sights and sounds are stunning. The critic recommends that movie lovers see this one in theaters in order to fully experience the aural cacophony. Darke concludes:

The new Nosferatu is a success; it looks and sounds stunning, is packed with the vampiric horror you’d hope for from the director of such atmospheric works as The Witch and The Lighthouse, is beautifully performed and competently retells a narrative we all know and love. But perhaps this last point is also what stops it from being a perfect movie: it’s solid, but it does very little to push any boundaries of what could be done to bring the ultimate vampire story up to date.

Matt Zoller Seitz of RogerEbert.com rates Nosferatu a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. Despite being made with the most modern technology, the movie feels like an artifact from another time, the critic writes. He calls it an “awesome achievement,” writing:

Robert Eggers' Nosferatu is a cryptic, beautiful and unsettling experience: transporting in the purest way. The writer-director of The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman is a rare filmmaker who seems capable of putting his modern consciousness aside when telling stories. There are no metaphors or analogies, only uncanny things that actually happen. Witches exist, curses and prophecies are real, and a vampire is a monster with the ability not just to shift shapes and drink blood but distort the fabric of reality itself through force of pure evil.

Siddhant Adlakha of IGN echoes the sentiment of making the age-old feel fresh, noting Nosferatu’s scary and sensual approach. The critic rates the movie an “Amazing” 9 out of 10, writing:

Nosferatu is Robert Eggers' finest work, given how it both boldly stands on its own as a gothic vampire drama and astutely taps into the original texts — F.W. Murnau's silent classic and Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. This resplendent horror remake keeps the broad strokes of these vampire legends intact, but refashions them into a terrifying, candle-lit tale of bodily autonomy — or lack thereof — that challenges previous versions of the story (and their conceptions of female sexuality) and in which Lily-Rose Depp delivers a harrowing performance opposite Bill Skarsgård's unsettling, corpse-like villain.

Liz Shannon Miller of Consequence laments that Bram Stoker’s Dracula has been so thoroughly explored at this point that this movie hitting all the familiar plot beats results in “almost zero suspense.” However, it’s never not beautiful to look at, Miller says, even in its most grotesque moments. The critic grades the modern remake a B and says:

Nosferatu delivers exactly what it promised — a new version of a classic tale, told by one of our most technically accomplished filmmakers. And this is certainly a more explicitly sexy version of Nosferatu than what the original German film delivered 102 years ago. However, it otherwise follows its source material, as well as the paths laid out by other adaptations, so faithfully that its most original elements feel drowned out by the familiar. It’s perhaps the best-made Dracula adaptation to come around in a long time. But it never feels essential.

So it sounds like no real surprises are in store as far as plot goes, but critics seem to universally agree that Robert Eggers’ direction combined with Jarin Blaschke's cinematography and an ensemble of impressive performances make this worth the price of admission.

Horror movie fans have waited a decade for the Nosferatu remake, and especially after reading such positive things from the critics, it hopefully won’t be too hard to wait another few weeks. The film hits the big screen on Wednesday, December 25.

Nicholas Hoult Could Have Landed Harry Potter Over Daniel Radcliffe, And This Funny Clip Makes Me Think He Could Still Do It

The cast of the Harry Potter movies has been more or less synonymous with their magical fictitious roles ever since 2001. Hearing about alternative castings is always a surprise, including Nicholas Hoult potentially having been Harry. The 34-year-old has had plenty of great roles over the years and continues to have many more roles coming during our 2024 movie schedule. It’s no surprise he was up for the iconic role then, and based on this goofy clip, I think he still could for the upcoming Max series.

Hoult was recently on the Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz podcast. The two chatted about his current projects, including his role as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman movie, premiering during our 2025 movie schedule. Horowitz also then confirmed with the Renfield star that he was high on the list to play Harry Potter over Daniel Radcliffe. He revealed that he’d had multiple callbacks but ultimately wasn’t ‘The Boy Who Lived’.

The specific segment of the Episode was shared on the podcaster’s IG account. The host reminded the Warm Bodies star that there are current casting auditions for the television version of the seven-book series. The two agreed humorously that Hoult could still pull off an eleven-year-old (minus the actor’s height) and he’d just have to don a scar and a pair of glasses–which then magically appeared on him. I don’t think either of them is wrong, with the filter, he absolutely gives off Potter vibes. Sure the height is an issue but special effects could easily take care of it. As Hoult said, he’s just waiting on the call. In all seriousness, for whatever reason it didn’t pan out, it’s nice to know that the Skins alum did end up working with Christopher Columbus on the upcoming Nosferatu.

The upcoming vampire monster movie is the complete opposite of his humorous ghoulish 2023 take with Nicolas Cage. Critics have already been heralding the Christmas Day movie as ‘horrifically brilliant’ and something not to miss. I’m glad to hear that it’s already getting great reception for the sake of the cast and being on set with a wild amount of live rats.

Before the vampiric counterpoint is released, you can catch Hoult in a few new movies released this year, including soon to be out (December 6th), The Order. The film is based on real events involving FBI agents and a white supremacist group from the 1980s. His other titles from 2024 include The Garfield Movie and Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2.

As for what could’ve been in the OG Potter series, we’ll never know. It all worked out well and Radcliffe and Hoult have had incredibly successful careers since the conclusion of the eight-part movie franchise. If the latter does want to head in that direction for the iconic YA figure, he’s got my vote for the future television role, but I think he’s doing just fine without it.

Nosferatu Has Screened, And Critics Are Sinking Their Teeth Into This ‘Horrifically Brilliant’ Remake

Dracula may be the first thing you think of when it comes to the best vampire flicks, but that wasn’t the only classic that was inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel. The 1922 film Nosferatu is also considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time, and thanks to filmmaker Robert Eggers, we’ll see a new version hitting the 2024 movie calendar. Despite there being over a month before its release in theaters, some are attending early screenings, and the critics are already sinking their teeth into the horror remake Nosferatu.

To be clear, that’s quite a good thing when it comes to vampire movies, and indeed the first reactions to Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok are likely enough to make even the most casual of horror fans intrigued. Nosferatu also stars Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp and a number of other big names that have some saying it’s one of their favorite films of the year. CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eisenberg doesn’t go that far, but he does say it’s worth the buzz. His post says:

I admittedly didn't walk out of Robert Eggers' Nosferatu thinking that it's going to end up on my ‘Best of 2024’ list, but there is an amazing degree of passion on screen, the filmmaking craft is spectacular, and Bill Skarsgärd's Count Orlok is an awesome achievement. Be excited!

Horror lover Heather Wixson, however, says the upcoming horror movie is her favorite of the year. She had an emotional response to Robert Eggers’ passion project, writing:

Excited that I finally get to talk about Nosferatu as it is a breathtaking masterpiece & my favorite film of 2024. Meticulously directed & featuring incredible performances from the entire cast, Robert Eggers casts an intoxicating spell w/his haunting take on this timeless tale… No joke, I was in tears for the final 15 minutes of this film; it hit me THAT hard. I have loved everything from Robert Eggers thus far but Nosferatu is his magnum opus. This one immediately imprinted itself in my heart & soul. I loved it so freaking much.

Rodrigo Perez also says Nosferatu will end up in the critic’s Top 10 list for the year, if not the Top 5. In addition to a creepy, unsettling tone akin to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, it showcases a dark eroticism throughout that may leave audiences simultaneously grossed out and turned on. Perez continues on X (Twitter):

NOSFERATU: a masterful, unnerving, spine-tingling gothic horror of the highest order, Robert Eggers’ best film. Surprise amazing performance from Lily Rose-Depp, everyone is terrific. Riveting, hypnotic, amazing craft on every level including impressive camera work.

Clayton Davis of Variety praises Bill Skarsgård in a role that scared the actor more than Pennywise in It, as well as co-stars Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe, saying:

Nosferatu is paralyzing fear fully realized under the vision of writer and director Robert Eggers. Dude is just clearing his throat in cinema. He hasn't yet begun to sing, and I'm digging all of his numbers. Bill Skarsgård is menacing while Lily-Rose Depp is haunting. Every movie gets automatically upgraded simply because Willem Dafoe is in it. An artisan wet dream. Gorgeous and horrifically brilliant. I'm a fan.

Emerson Testa agrees the “crazy vampire hunter” Willem Dafoe only adds to an already brilliant film, with Bill Skarsgård perfectly embodying the titular monster. In Testa’s words:

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a masterclass. The performances across the board are nothing short of spectacular, with Depp standing out giving a haunting and hypnotic portrayal of the cursed figure. It goes without saying, the film pushes the throttle pedal when Dafoe enters… Eggers’ direction is enlightened, making the atmosphere thick with dread. The production design is massive, creating a sense of scale and immersion that really captures every shadow, every rustling breeze and feels part of a grander, ominous world.

Courtney Howard lauds the horror movie’s director as well as the crew in charge of the “haunting compositions,” “painterly cinematography,” and “inspired production design.” Also, Howard warns that if you weren’t already afraid of rats, you will be now. The critic says:

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu goes HARDER than any other horror film this year. Holy fuck. A gorgeous grotesquerie of dread-infused terrors & a divine dark delight. Bill Skarsgård’s Count Orlok is pure sinister nightmare fuel. Lily Rose Depp & Nicholas Hoult’s best work to date.

Griffin Schiller of FilmSpeak is another who says the remake of the German classic is going to end up on a “best of 2024 list,” writing:

Nosferatu surpasses the hype as Eggers delivers a wickedly sinister reimagining of the iconic legend. A deeply chilling nightmare that lingers. If you love the horny fever dream of Coppola's Dracula you'll adore this. Lilly Rose Depp is ASTOUNDING! Easily one of the year's best.

Perri Nemiroff also praises Jarin Blaschke’s cinematography, with both atmospheric elements and Robert Eggers’ passion seemingly leaping off of the screen. The critic posts:

Nosferatu is a chilling stunner. A film that wastes no time digging its claws in and making its evil feel inescapable. That quality is heavily tied to four particular performances - Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Simon McBurney and Lily-Rose Depp. Skarsgård continues to prove he’s an unparalleled creature actor. Hoult delivers big blending sheer terror with a palpable love that drives his character. McBurney is wildly captivating as Knock, teeing up the evil on the horizon. And then there’s Depp who’s an utter powerhouse, brilliantly carving her character’s intoxicating path toward the darkness.

The first reactions to Nosferatu are nothing if not promising, and for those who have been looking forward to seeing Bill Skarsgård in this role, surrounded by what sounds like some impressive performances from his colleagues, this movie remake might be just the Christmas gift you were hoping for. Nosferatu is set to hit theaters on Wednesday, December 25.

Superman’s Nicholas Hoult Reveals His Reaction To Landing Lex Luthor Role After Auditioning For The Man Of Steel

Before David Corenswet was selected to play Clark Kent/Kal-El in the James Gunn-written and directed Superman, one of the other finalists in contention for the role was Nicholas Hoult, who previously played Hank McCoy/Beast in the “First Class” era of X-Men movies. Despite not being selected to play the next cinematic Man of Steel, Hoult will still be involved in the upcoming DC movie as Lex Luthor. With less than a year to go until Superman’s arrival, Hoult recently shared his reaction when he learned he’d been cast as Luthor after auditioning to play the title superhero.

As part of the promotional circuit for his new movie Juror No. 2, which opened last weekend on the 2024 release schedule, Hoult stopped by Happy Sad Confused to chat with host Josh Horowitz about his career, including his forthcoming turn as Luthor in Superman. In fact, Hoult admitted that when he was preparing for his audition, he started thinking the chrome-domed villain might be a better fit for him, saying:

It's funny, because when I first read the script, I remember reading it and there was a little inkling part of me that was like 'Oh, I think you would have fun playing Lex.'

There’s surely another timeline where Nicholas Hoult ended up being cast as Superman instead, and to the residents of said timeline, I hope you enjoy the actor’s portrayal within that version of the DC Universe shared continuity. But as far as our Hoult goes, he realized early on that playing Luthor could be interesting in its own way. Apparently James Gunn felt the same way, much to the actor's amusement. Hoult continued:

And I kind of didn't say anything, and then when James [Gunn] called me to play Lex, I did kind of cackle — I think is how I'd describe it. I didn't say anything. I think he said, 'We want you to play Lex,' and I just laughed, because I think there was something in my instinct, when I first read the script, where I was like, ‘I think that's more what I should be doing in this story.’

James Gunn confirmed Nicholas Hoult would play Lex Luthor last December, and by February, the filmmaker debuted Hoult’s bald head in a Superman cast photo. By July, Hoult had wrapped his work on Superman, and just a few days ago, he revealed that he let his older son shave his head ahead of principal photography. No specific details about this version of Luthor have been revealed yet, but Hoult has said his portrayal is inspired by Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor from Smallville and the depiction of the villain in All-Star Superman, with the latter inspiring the actor to work out for the role.

Other members of the Superman cast include Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Wendell Pierce, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Eli Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, María Gabriela de Faría and Sara Sampaio, among others. Although Creature Commandos will officially kick off the DC Universe when it debuts next month to those who have a Max subscription, James Gunn and Peter Safran, who co-run DC Studios together, have said they consider Superman to be the “true beginning” of the franchise. The reboot hits theaters on July 11, 2025.

While not an origin story, we’ll still be seeing signature characters played by an exceptional cast of the superhero flick like Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Ahead of its summer 2025 movie release, the British actor recalled the sweet story behind shaving his head for the role while as discussing his fresh take on the character.

While Nicholas Hoult is bringing a new version of Lex Luthor that we’ve never seen before, one signature trait the Tolkien actor will adopt for his LexCorp CEO role is a bald head. Back in February, the Primetime Emmy nominee debuted his smooth head in Superman: Legacy’s cast photo and fans loved what they saw. Hoult disclosed to SiriusXM the sweet way he shaved his head and it’s too cute for words:

It's growing back gradually. Yeah, but I did shave my head, which I find quite liberating whenever I've done it for roles. I kind of enjoyed that this time. I let my older son get the clippers out and do it for me.

I’d like to believe the actor's son had a lot of fun shaving his dad’s hair! Too bad he wasn’t around when his father was part of the cast of Mad Max: Fury Road donning a shaved head as Nux. I can understand why Hoult would find it “liberating” considering you don’t have to worry about fixing your hair when you wake up in the morning. Plus, I’m sure that look helped the X-Men actor get more into character.

Nicholas Hoult joins a long line of actors who’ve played Superman’s archnemesis Lex Luthor like Lyle Talbot, Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg, and more. While he was originally gunning for the role of the famed caped crusader, playing the DC supervillain will still make his presence in the Superman universe all the more memorable. According to his interview on SiriusXM, the Juror No. 2 actor talked about what made him so excited to play James Gunn’s “fun and different” take on the iconic role:

I mean, as a fan of DC comics in general and Superman, I was, I mean, like you say, such an iconic character and villain, and I think what's really special is, I mean, James Gunn's just got such a singular, incredible storytelling pattern and way that he brings films to life in such a unique manner that I was so excited about his take on it, and then reading the script, I felt the same. I was like, ‘Oh, this version of Lex is really fun and different,’ and yeah. I just hope people like it. I don't want to say too much too early, but working with them and David's such an incredible, wonderful Superman, he really embodies everything that you had hoped for that character, so I'm excited for people to see the film.

Based on what Nicholas Hoult is talking about, I wonder if that means we’re going to get a Lex Luthor that’s more quirky and eccentric than anything we’ve ever seen in the Metropolis resident. I can see the Golden Globe nominee nailing a part like that. After all, his past roles have included playing complex, snaky characters like Skins, The Great, The Favorite, The Menu and more.

Critics Have Reached A Verdict On Juror No. 2, The Legal Drama That Is Possibly Clint Eastwood’s Swan Song

For those looking to cleanse their palette of all the horror movies that have been winning the box office, there’s a legal thriller hitting the 2024 movie calendar that might just do the trick. Juror No. 2 is the 40th and possibly final directorial project for 94-year-old Clint Eastwood and stars Nicholas Hoult as its titular character who finds himself in a pretty interesting moral dilemma. Critics have reached a verdict following the film’s premiere at AFI Fest, and they say the movie is quite enjoyable, despite its contrived plotline.

Juror No. 2 takes place, naturally, during a murder trial, where the eponymous jury member realizes that he is actually the one responsible for the death in question. Will he save the man on trial, or will he save himself? Peter Debruge of Variety calls the film “slightly preposterous but thoroughly engaging,” as Clint Eastwood challenges us to think outside the box in what may be his swan song. The critic writes:

As always, Eastwood respects our intelligence. And yet, Juror No. 2 registers as something of an anomaly in his oeuvre: It ranks among his quietest films, forgoing spectacle in favor of self-reflection. One could argue the whole system is on trial, and yet, the only angry man here is Eastwood, not the jurors, as Dirty Harry goes out not with a bang, but an ambivalent whisper.

Travis Hopson of Punch Drunk Critics rates the movie 3 stars out of 5, and similarly to the above critic, says the premise is “pretty far out there,” but it’s entertaining overall, allowing audiences to contemplate their own morality. Hopson continues:

Despite the extreme nature of the plot and the nagging feeling this circus case should be thrown out, Collette, Hoult, and Eastwood keep the film grounded. You can drive a truck through some of the plotholes, but if you can shut yourself off to them and trust in Eastwood’s steady, workmanlike direction and the performances of his stars, Juror # 2 is an enjoyable morality tale. If this is truly Eastwood’s last movie, it’s far from his worst but hardly comes close to his best.

Christian Zilko of IndieWire says the movie enriches our understanding of Clint Eastwood and serves as a character study about how we are not defined by our mistakes nor ever liberated from them. Zilko gives Juror No. 2 an A-, calling it one of the best studio films of 2024. The critic says:

Eastwood and [writer Jonathan Abrams] treat each member of their ensemble with the nuance and humanity of a protagonist. Even the smallest characters are burdened by their own experience, obligations, and ideology to the point where it’s hard to accuse anyone of acting in bad faith. To the extent that the film indulges in sentimentality, it’s only in service of its argument that human beings are endlessly complicated but fundamentally decent if you’re willing to dig far enough below the surface. It’s anchored by a modern understanding that many people are just trying to survive the day, but underscored by an Old Hollywood insistence that we still ought to measure ourselves against larger ideas of right and wrong.

Tim Grierson of Screen Daily praises Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of a man with conflicting feelings of guilt, gratitude, fear and moral conscience. The movie moves at a brisk pace, inspires questions of our own ethics and provides the comfy pleasures of the best courtroom dramas. Grierson writes:

Juror #2 features the typical lack of flash from Eastwood, who turned 94 this summer. The director allows Justin’s moral dilemma to add sufficient suspense to what is otherwise a compelling but fairly straightforward procedural. And Hoult brings complexity to his silently anguished character, a recovering alcoholic grateful for the second chances he has been afforded. The actor conveys both Justin’s desire to save James and his hesitation to come clean about what actually took place.

Bill Goodykoontz of the Arizona Republic gives it a “Fair” 3 out of 5 star rating, also saying that even with taut direction and solid performances, the plot strains credulity to its breaking point and will therefore not be remembered as one of Clint Eastwood’s strongest. Goodykoontz continues:

[Clint Eastwood] keeps things clean and crisp, even as the jury members break all kinds of rules that would get the case thrown out. Which is fine. It’s not a documentary. But it’s not a fable, either, despite the dueling morality dilemmas. Juror #2 isn’t quite forgettable, but it’s also not the movie we’ll remember Eastwood for.

While its plot lacks believability and Juror No. 2 won’t stand beside Clint Eastwood’s more celebrated movies like Unforgiven or Million Dollar Baby, critics largely agree that the director takes viewers on a thought-provoking and entertaining journey. If you want to see this one on the big screen, Juror No. 2 hits theaters on Friday, November 1.

Nicholas Hoult Wrapped His Superman Role, See The Nerdy Gift He Gave James Gunn

The superhero genre is going through some major changes, specifically the ending of the DCEU (which is streaming with a Max subscription) and the start of co-CEO James Gunn's new DC Universe. Fans are eager to see the upcoming DC movies, starting with Gunn's Superman flick. Actor Nicholas Hoult is helping to lead the Superman cast list as Lex Luthor, recently giving James Gunn a nerdy gift after wrapping his role in the blockbuster.

What we know about Superman is limited, but fans are eager to see the movie, and see how it starts the first phase of the DCU aka Gods and Monsters. Holt seems like a great choice to play Lex Luthor, even if he auditioned to play Superman previously. The X-Men alum has wrapped his role as the villain, and James Gunn posted on Instagram to share the fun gift he gave the director.

How cute is that? Hoult gave Gunn an old Superman comic book, and it looks like it's in pristine condition. Smart money says the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker has a collection, and that his will be a welcomed addition. Of course, some fans are trying to look to this post for clues about what'll happen in the Superman movie.

In his caption, James Gunn clarifies that Superman is still very much in production, it's just Nicholas Hoult who is wrapped. Back in May, Gunn said Superman was halfway through filming, so it seems like things are moving along quite well. We'll just have to see how big of a role Lex Luthor ultimately plays in the mysterious project.

The exact issue of the comic given to Gunn is sure to inspire some fan theories, as moviegoing audiences wait for information about what'll happen during Superman's mysterious runtime. Braniac is heavily featured, and fans do think that villain will factor into the movie's story. The role of the villain(s) is just one of many questions surrounding the new DC movie. Fans are also curious about why Superman has so many other heroes in the cast, and how they will influence the story and David Corenswet's title character. Those heroes include Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan's Metamorpho.

The pressure is on for Gunn and company to hit it out of the park with Superman, and get audiences excited for the new DCU. The last few DC movies have been failures, largely because the old shared universe was already DOA upon their release.

For those who don’t know, Nosferatu is a reimagining of the classic tale. The film will follow the story of a Transylvanian vampire who is obsessed with and stalks a “haunted” young woman. Skarsgård will play the vampire, and Depp will play the young woman.

The film is directed by Robert Eggers, the man behind three other famous movies that have received critical acclaim, such as The Witch (which is one of the best A24 horror films), The Northman, and The Lighthouse.

This will be Hoult’s first time working with the director, which a few of the actors mentioned above already have, but I have a feeling he’ll be great. Total Film reported that he will be playing Thomas Hutter, and Nosferatu is set to come out on December 25, 2024. Check out the Nosferatu trailer below:

The Order (2024)

While Nosferatu has a confirmed release date, Hoult will also be appearing in another significant film in 2024, but there’s just no date set yet. Confirmed by Deadline in February 2024, the actor will co-star in a movie called The Order.

The film is based on the book The Silent Brotherhood, which is all about a white supremacist group (the Order) that brings domestic terror to the United States. Hoult will play the leader of this group, a “radical, charismatic” leader who will be plotting a war against the government of the United States.

It will also star Alison Oliver, Jurnee Smollett, Marc Maron, Odessa Young, and Tye Sheridan, according to Deadline.

Again, we don’t have an exact date yet, but Deadline reported in May 2024 that The Order would be released later this year – so we can at least say it’ll come out at some point within the next few months.

Superman: Legacy (July 11, 2025)

You must have been living under a rock to not have heard of Hoult starring in Superman: Legacy, because I remember when it was announced, it was all anyone could talk about. For those who don’t know, it was announced back in February 2024 by Deadline that the talent would officially be playing the iconic Superman villain, Lex Luthor.

The Superman: Legacy cast is incredibly talented, with the likes of David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Anthony Carrigan, and more playing roles in the upcoming film.

Hoult actually auditioned to play a different DC character — Batman in The Batman — but ended up losing out on the role to Robert Pattinson. However, now he’s going to arguably be playing one of the most iconic characters within the world of DC, so it’s not like he didn’t get another great opportunity.

Filming for Superman: Legacy began in February 2024, and in June of the same year filming continued, as confirmed by Gunn’s Instagram post that showed his friends visiting the set:

Juror No 2. (TBA)

The first movie that we have no release window for at all is Juror No. 2. Confirmed by Deadline in April 2023, Hoult is set to star in the new film alongside Toni Collette. It will be directed by Clint Eastwood, with a script penned by Jonathan Abrams.

The movie is set during a murder trial with an interesting premise — a member of the jury, as the trial commences, begins to realize that he is actually the person that is responsible for the death that caused the trial in the first place. He attempts to try and save the person who is on trial, but has to do so without putting his freedom at risk.

Talk about an excellent idea. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Hoult would play the lead character, Justin Kemp, while Collette would play a prosecutor. Both Kiefer Sutherland and Zoey Deutch will also be in the film, with Sutherland playing an AA sponsor, and Deutch as Kemp’s wife.

There is no set release date right now for Juror No. 2, but Variety did report that post-production had wrapped on the film back in April 2024, so maybe we’ll get it sooner than we think.

The One (TBA)

Last but not least, we have The One. We have the least information about it, but enough to include it. According to Deadline, Nicholas Hoult was confirmed to co-star in The One back in May 2023.

Melissa Barrera is his co-star. The project was billed as a “nightmarish horror” movie about how popular entertainment can impact our romantic and psychological well-being. Lana Condor also has a role in the film.

Aside from this, there hasn’t been much more news about The One. We’ll keep an eye out for when more comes out about it.

With so many great movies coming out, the next couple of years sound like they’ll be great for Nicholas Hoult. All I can say is that I need to see Superman: Legacy now, please. I can’t wait another year.

Nicholas Hoult Shares Funny Reason Why He’s Working Out To Play Lex Luthor, And It Involves One Of Superman’s Most Famous Stories

There’s a new Lex Luthor on the block, and he’s going to be quite the… beast. Ok, terrible pun about Nicholas Hoult’s time playing Hank McCoy in the X-Men movies aside, it turns out the actor is getting in good shape to play Superman’s chrome-domed arch-nemesis in James Gunn’s Superman movie, which was previously titled Superman: Legacy. But rather than this being agreed upon the moment he took the role, Hoult has a funny reason for why he’s working out to play Luthor, and it involves one of the Man of Steel’s most famous stories.

Hoult stopped by Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum to chat about a variety of subjects with the title host — who, of course, played Lex Luthor on Smallville. When Rosenbaum asked if Hoult will have his shirt off during the upcoming DC movie, the latter said that wouldn’t be the case, but did confirm he’s been working out, then stated:

There’s that bit in All-Star Superman where [Lex Luthor] talks about his muscles being real, hard work and all that. I kind of took that as a little bit of fuel for the fire, I guess.

While Lex Luthor is a supervillain chiefly known for his incredible, non-super intellect, there have been instances where the character has been depicted as being physically fit too, including in All-Star Superman. Written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Frank Quitely, this 12-issue miniseries published between 2005 and 2008 follows Superman racing to complete a series of heroic tasks before he dies from overexposure to solar radiation, an event Luthor orchestrated. During the story, Luthor brags to Clark (not knowing this is his adversary’s secret identity) about how his muscles are “real,” adding:

It’s easy to be strong when you just happen to have come from the planet Krypton! This takes hard work!

That alone was enough to convince Nicholas Hoult that it was worth working out for Superman, the first movie on the DC Universe Chapter One slate. Hoult’s Lex Luthor won’t be able to measure up strength-wise to David Corenswet’s version of Superman, and will instead have to rely on his intellect to antagonize the Kryptonian hero and his allies, but that doesn’t mean that the baddie has to neglect his physical health. Besides, just because he can’t go toe to toe with Supeman in a direct fight doesn’t mean we couldn’t see Luthor lay a beating on a non-powered person’s who’s asking for it… in his eyes, anyway.

Nicholas Hoult succeeds Jesse Eisenberg as cinema’s next live-action Lex Luthor, although the character is also currently being portrayed by Michael Cudlitz in Superman & Lois, which is shooting its final season. Other key members in the cast of James Gunn’s Superman movie include Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and newest addition Wendell Pierce as Perry White. The movie began principal photography on February 29 and will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

Production on James Gunn’s upcoming DC movie Superman is officially underway, and coincidentally kicked off on Supes’ very own birthday. Meant to kick off what’s we know as the DCU Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, it’s time for us to believe a man can fly yet again. But what I really believe in right now is actor Rachel Brosnahan and her chemistry with both David Corenswet and the freshly bald Nicholas Hoult.

That’s thanks to a cute BTS video showcasing the three Superman leads, in a setting that gives us no hints as to what this 2025 movie will look like. It doesn’t matter though, as this TikTok from Ms. Brosnahan’s official account is all you’ll need to put a smile on your face:

As an added bonus of flashing their chemistry, we do get another look at Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor look. In one respect, it’s hard not to see the Mad Max: Fury Road star cleanly shaven and not want to shout, “WITNESS ME!”

Yet at the same time, I have to say the fan art didn’t do him justice, and I think the fans who loved that first Superman cast photo would agree. Though that photo already seems to be a bit out of date, as it totally hid Wendell Pierce's Superman casting; which revealed the Jack Ryan actor will now be running the Daily Planet as noble editor Perry White.

It’s simple, not showy, and Rachel Brosnahan’s clip invokes the spirit of playfulness you’d expect from a James Gunn film. We may not be learning any new facts that change what we know about Superman, but it certainly fuels the hype surrounding the DCU’s big reboot. It also makes you wonder just how things are going to look when Hoult's Luthor has to square off against either of his lovely co-stars.

And if you’re wondering about the title, yes, James Gunn officially renamed Superman: Legacy into something that seems a bit more traditional. The former Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind told the world that the decision was made as he locked in the final draft of the script. So whatever reasons he had for this decision will be shown on the screen next summer.

For now, all we know is that Superman is up, up, up and away in front of the cameras, and the cast looks like they’re getting along rather well. That right there is enough to keep fans in the conversation, hoping that sooner rather than later Rachel Brosnahan, or any of her co-stars, will share some further moments of merriment that could potentially clue us into this new era of Gods and Monsters.

Superman is set to arrive in theaters with a single bound on July 11, 2025. It's all happening! James Gunn's Superman: Legacy is officially flying forward, and the director just posted a very exhilarating update about it by bringing the cast of the upcoming DC movie together for a group photo. While it's exciting and all to see them together, what sticks out the most is the fact that Nicholas Hoult has officially shaved his head to play Lex Luthor. Understandably, fans freaked out about this when they saw him with the rest of the cast.

Taking to Instagram to post an adorable Superman: Legacy cast selfie – which included David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult who will play Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively, among many others – James Gunn took the opportunity to introduce the characters and the actors playing them. He wrote that this was taken "after the table read," and you can see the excitement about the project in their faces as well as the debut of Nicholas Hoult's bald head below:

Overall, there were lots of hearts, fire and hands in the air emojis. Superman: Legacy is a highly, highly anticipated project, so it makes sense that fans reacted in such a strong way. Considering Gunn’s track record with superhero projects, there’s reason to believe that this movie will be fabulous, and clearly the fans cannot wait to see it!

The only downside here is we’ll be waiting quite a while for Superman: Legacy, seeing as this photo was taken after the table read and the projected release date for the upcoming superhero film is July 11, 2025. However, that wait will be worth it!
