These days Practical Magic is a spooky season classic, but did you know that when the original movie came out, it flopped? It disappointed at the box office and was slammed by critics. It's, of course, since been embraced by audiences, and a sequel was just part of the 2026 movie schedule. Now, Sandra Bullock has taken some time to celebrate the movie’s ongoing importance and take shots at its critical reception.

The first Practical Magic movie hit theaters this weekend back in 1998. Here’s how Bullock remembered the witchy comedy on its anniversary:

Practical Magic holds a quite low critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. Washington Post’s Eve Zibart, for example, characterized it as “just a TV-ready mix of camp and curdle” at the time. Iconic critic Roger Ebert was the one who called it “too scary for children and too childish for adults,” and NY Times’s Janet Maslin described it as “nothing but a guilty pleasure”. The "too many women" comment is especially wild when you think about it.

The movie also made $94 million against a reported production budget of around $75 million. As Sandra Bullock pointed out in her new post on Instagram, despite its commercial reception, Practical Magic has remained a very special movie to its fans. As she added:

It took a long time for Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman to reunite for the sequel, but thanks to the movie becoming beloved over time, they made Practical Magic 2. The sequel also earned a similar score on RT (36%), but audiences who saw it were very happy to come back to it and gave it a lot of praise. Bullock also said this as she celebrated the anniversary:

What an apt quote for Practical Magic from the source material itself! The new movie allowed Bullock and Kidman to continue the story with Sally and Gilly Owens as middle-aged women – something we don’t see too often in big studio films. Practical Magic 2 opened at No. 1 at the box office and made $104.6 million worldwide. It wasn’t a stunning success either, but fans definitely showed up for this one. I expect once those with an HBO Max subscription can check it out, it’ll only soar higher.

Bullock’s message about the Practical Magic movies led Julianne Hough to write “All time favorite forever and always,” Olivia Munn posted a comment that said “It was, is and will always be a love letter to sisters and friends,” and so many others left messages about how much this movie means to them. Many cited watching the films with their own sisters and making powerful memories with them and Practical Magic.

They may not be critically acclaimed blockbusters, but they’re treasured by so many people, and doesn’t that mean more?

While you’re getting ready to watch your favorite scary movie, this month is more than just candy and costumes. For one actor this month is about the color pink, and no it’s not Reese Witherspoon. Fans have more to celebrate this Halloween season thanks to the long-awaited Practical Magic sequel. While Nicole Kidman is pretty under pink lights, it’s not to promote her return as Gillian Owens, it’s to promote breast cancer awareness month.

The actor has been in Paris in honor of Fashion Week, and in her latest Instagram post, she’s looking absolutely bewitching in pink. During her stay at the five-star luxury hotel The Peninsula Paris, she seized the opportunity to promote the importance of October outside of midnight margaritas and spells. The post is simply captioned, “Pink lights in honor of #BreastCancerAwareness Month,” and really that says it all:

The actor is seemingly moving forward following her divorce from Keith Urban with a series of spellbinding shots showing Kidman aglow in pink lights. The first shot shows her leaning on the railing of the Peninsula Paris, and she’s look just as radiant as she did during the promotion of Practical Magic 2. Other photos show off sunsets, the hotel adorned in pink, and even checking out the “Dancing Roses” display with her daughter Faith. Like Kidman, the hotel is known for spending each October promoting breast cancer awareness by illuminating its façade in a magical pink glow every evening. This is an annual tradition that occurs as part of the hotel’s Peninsula in Pink campaign.

Even the centerpiece of the lobby, a permanent base entitled “Dancing Leaves,” is sporting pink roses as a floral call for awareness. The display was designed by Ludek Hroch for the renowned glassmaker LASVIT and is an important feature of the Peninsula Paris. This is the perfect setting for Kidman to raise awareness, and her post is making fans want to grab an umbrella and take a leap:

• Your home away from home 💕🙏 - @ThePeninsulaParis
• Love you Queen ❤️❤️❤️ - @gwen110304
• girl is absolutely living - @joshua__solberg
• Whatever this female renaissance is I want it 🔥❤️🌹- @galecarmina
• you are the BEST thank you for supporting! 🎀 - @juliavonboehm

Kidman certainly looks at home at the hotel, and it’s understandable given her long history with promoting breast cancer awareness. She is an avid participant in awareness campaigns and a long-time supporter (and often donates) to research programs. The actor also frequently collaborates with the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center on awareness campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and public service announcements on the importance of early detection and personalized treatments. Her dedication stems from a personal place as her mother was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer when she was a teenager and she took time off to care for her during treatments. She also had a minor scare back in 2004.

So while she’s gotten a lot of attention about sporting a ring on THAT finger while at Paris Fashion Week, Kidman’s post is a lovely reminder that this month is more than fashion and midnight drinks. Plus, Kidman would rather not look at another margarita after filming Practical Magic 2. It’s important to her that people are talking about the importance of breast cancer awareness.

Though this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy the scary antics of the month. Even Kidman enjoys a good freezer spell. Just remember to wear pink (or use pink lights) and raise awareness.

Nicole Kidman is an Oscar-winning talent, one who is constantly working on both movie and TV projects. She's also a fashion icon, one who has been stunning on the red carpet for Practical Magic 2 and more. Case in point: she recently rocked a blazer dress at Chanel's show at Paris Fashion Week. Although its her ring finger that has the most people talking.

Aside from her long and wildly successful career, the Big Little Lies actress has also landed plenty of headlines over the years due to her personal life. Only months after Kidman's divorce from Karl Urban was finalized, there's already chatter about her new beau. This got much louder when Nicole attended Paris Fashion Week, and wore a piece of jewelry on the ring finger that resembled a wedding band. Check it out for yourself below:

This piece of bling might not have been the focus of Kidman's look (which included the Chanel blazer), but the fact that it was on her ring finger definitely turned heads. As a result, there is more interest in what's going on in her romantic life BTS. After all, she's been linked to billionaire Michael Reinstein since her split from Urban. So the idea that she might have secretly tied the knot or gotten engaged set the internet ablaze.

The public has been invested in the actress' personal life since her high profile marriage to Tom Cruise back in the '90s. So what's going on with her new ring? An alleged insider spoke to New Idea, and was quoted about what's reportedly going on with Kidman. In their words:

Indeed, no one would have blinked if the Batman Forever actress was wearing that ring on any other finger. But it was THE ring finger, and the piece itself certainly does resemble a wedding ring. So who can blame the public for spinning out and making these images go viral?

Per this source, Nicole Kidman's phone has been blowing up since the image of her at Paris Fashion Week arrived online. They also offered some answers, and alleged that she's not engaged or secretly married to Reinstein. In fact, the relationship might be more casual than folks think, as they claim:

Faith is Nicole Kidman's daughter, who was posing alongside her famous mother in these viral photos. More folks are talking about her then ever before thanks to the Moulin Rouge! star's choice of jewelry, which was reportedly part of the plan.

Since this source wasn't named, we might want to take their account of Kidman's intentions with a grain of salt. Still, they do allegedly offer some much needed context to the new viral photos. If this claim is accurate, we shouldn't expect to see wedding bells in the actress/producer's future anytime soon.

Professionally, Nicole Kidman has been on a roll. She recently celebrated the release of Practical Magic 2 on the 2026 movie release list, as well as the new season of Lioness for those with a Paramount+ subscription. Only time will tell how her relationship will turn out.

Both the film industry and fans like me love to follow along during Awards Season, and seeing which actors and filmmakers end up taking home trophies. The 2026 Oscars happened back in March, and as usual there were major wins and notable snubs. Actress/producer Nicole Kidman famously won the Oscar for her work on The Hours back in 2003, and recently got honest about how lonely she felt in the midst of this accomplishment.

Stephen Daldry's The Hours told the story of Virginia Wolf and the novel Mrs. Dalloway, with Kidman playing the famous writer. Fresh off her split from Tom Cruise, the actress won the coveted Academy Award. But while appearing on the Therapuss podcast, the Big Little Lies icon got honest about being in dark place in the midst of that achievement. As she put it:

Ouch. While one might think that winning an Oscar was the dream for Nicole Kidman, the reality of her victory is a bit more complicated. Namely4 because she realized that she'd been too focused on work, and wanted to someone to share the excitement with.

Funny enough, the Practical Magic star's comments echo Gwyneth Paltrow's comments about winning an Oscar, and promptly hiding in her parents house because she was so overwhelmed. Later in the same podcast, Kidman spoke more about what was going on in her head, offering:

Celebrities: sometimes they really are just like us. Because even though Nicole Kidman was given a huge honor and career-making accomplishment by taking home the Oscar, it didn't magically solve all her problems. In fact, it highlighted what was missing in her personal life. Specifically, someone to share her success with.

As fans know, the Batman Forever actress would eventually tie the knot again. Kidman married Keith Urban in 2006, and they would be married for nearly 20 decades before separating and eventually getting divorced. But now, in addition to her non-stop acting gigs, she's also become a powerful producer.

Nicole Kidman can be seen on the big screen in Practical Magic 2, which is in theaters now as part of the 2026 movie release list. On the small screen she was most recently seen in Lioness, which is available with a Paramount+ subscription.

Warning! The following contains spoilers for Practical Magic 2. Read at your own risk!

I had a date to see Practical Magic 2 recently, and as luck would have it, the original was available to stream with an HBO Max subscription, so I could see it beforehand. It ended up being a blessing and a curse, to be honest, as while I wasn't in the dark about the Owens women, one plot point from the sequel drove me up a wall.

The movie opens up with the news that Gary Hallet, the detective played by Aidan Quinn in the first movie, has died. We then learn that Sally, who felt burned again by the Owens Curse, used magic to erase her daughters' memories of being witches, which is more or less what she did when her husband died in the first movie!

I Don't Understand Why Sally Made The Decision To Hide Magic From Her Daughters Again

Sally turned her back on magic before, and it went pretty poorly in Practical Magic. She forbade Francis and Jet from teaching the girls about magic, which ended up being a largely successful endeavor. The kids in town were able to get in Kylie and Antonia's ears, and before too long, it was time to come clean.

By the end of the movie, everyone in town knows the Owens women are witches, and they embrace it! Even Gary is so smitten with Sally that he clears her and Gillian of murder, even though they totally did kill her ex. They were loved, accepted, and well-liked, so why would Sally erase every memory they had of that?

The more I think about it, the crueler the spell seems. Sure, grief makes us do rash things, but when Kylie and Antonia lost every memory of magic, did it also remove the positive memories they had with their aunt and great-aunts attached to it? I still like the movie, despite other critics looking down on it, but this part really bugged me.

I'm Not Sure How Kylie And Antonia Weren't Able To Discover They Were A Family Of Witches

Magic aside, it's even more baffling to me that Kylie and Antonia didn't immediately find out they were witches all over again. Once again, Practical Magic ended with them getting the love and adoration of the town, and it's even mentioned that the aunts are visited by people nightly for help with their ailments.

Sure, Antonia mentions hearing "rumors" of the family being cursed to Kylie. But how did no one ever say, "Hey, remember when we all got together, and your family floated down from the roof of your house?" Them being witches was not a secret, and wouldn't the daughters be the least bit concerned that everyone remembered this but them?

Fortunately, this glaring plot hole has not diminished the sequel's success, as Practical Magic 2 is finding an audience despite the reviews. It may not be the same as the original, but it offers the nostalgia hit that audiences are looking for, and something the cast was looking for as well. I can't pretend I'm interested in seeing it again like I am with the original, but I'd be down to watch another sequel!

We'll see if another sequel is ever in the works, as there are more books to adapt. In the meantime, I'm going to try and use magic to erase my memory of that plot point, because it's still making me mad here as I write.

Last weekend I started the fall season at the movies by catching Practical Magic 2. I was a fan of the original movie for it being one of those cozy autumn movies to throw on when I’m not feeling a horror film. While I was watching it, I thought about how nice and rare it is to see Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman on the big screen again. And then from there, how few and far between it is to see women in that age group in big studio films like this. Let’s talk about it.

Practical Magic 2 Made Me Question Something

When it comes to movies, it still feels like there’s a giant gap in the female experience somewhere between one’s late 30s and 60s. I guess Hollywood doesn’t like to talk about women’s lives once they’re typically mothers or have arrived in what's defined as their middle-aged years. I think it’s damaging too, because it makes women unconsciously feel like life ends after their 30s. Meanwhile, male actors are shown as viable to do any sort of film from action to comedy no matter what age they are. Heck, Liam Neeson’s still doing action movies well into his 70s.

Obviously, I’ve realized how sexism permeates in Hollywood before. The thing that I started pondering after watching Practical Magic 2 is how many movies starring women in the age group of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman right now have come from studios, and had big opening weekends like the sequel did. So, I looked into it.

What Other Movies Starring Middle-Age Women Have Been Hits?

I looked into the ten top grossing movies I could find led by women who were in their later 50s and early-to-mid 60s when the movie was released, and you know what? It was better than I thought it was going to be. Take a look, and then I’ll talk about it:

I mean, there’s a reason Meryl Streep is the queen. She’s got the highest-grossing movie by far with Mamma Mia!, but takes up four spots on this list. Knowing that Meryl Streep has been able to really thrive during her 50s and 60s is really impressive to me, but she’s also kind of one of the few exceptions, right?

Not every talented actress in this age group is showing out with movies like Streep has, and it also helps that she filled a hole during the early 2000s, when romantic comedies could be box office hits, and were expanding beyond stories only about women in their 20s and 30s.

The only other repeater on the list is Jamie Lee Curtis, who’s found some winners in the past decade with sequels to favorite roles of hers. I know I’ve really appreciated seeing her remain as a leading lady, and not simply mom roles in recent years.

When these movies weren’t coming from Streep or Curtis, they were coming from Diane Keaton with her team-up with Jack Nicholson in Something’s Gotta Give. Roberts’ rom-com comeback from a few years ago. Then, there's Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh – the only woman of color on this list. And, Helen Mirren as one of the most famous women ever, Queen Elizabeth II.

I look at this list, and I feel really empowered by these movies, because it shows the audience is there. And, each one of them did fill the similar void like Practical Magic 2 does. We just need more smart movies made about women during this era in life. I hope Practical Magic 2 continues to be one of the successful 2026 movie releases, and Hollywood takes more chances on films about women from a variety of ages.

When I found out Practical Magic 2 was happening, I was over the moon. When I found out Maisie Williams, aka my all-time Game of Thrones fave Arya Stark, was going to be in it, my excitement soared. It marks the actress’s first big role in years, and her role as the daughter of Sally Owens is genius casting. Then I saw Practical Magic 2, and just like many of the fans, I liked it way more than critics did. I just wish Williams' character got more to do. Then, I picked up the book, and I was even more frustrated.

Maisie Williams Didn’t Have Much To Do In Practical Magic 2

First off, I need to rant for a second about Antonia Owens. In a movie that does an incredible job of giving its original sisters, Joey King’s Kylie, and even the aunts a lot to do, it sure does shortchange Antonia. It felt like she was only a doctor so she could be in the scenes with Kylie’s boyfriend Gideon, as she stays back and babysits him while Kylie, Gilly and Sally go on a witchy adventure in England.

Even though Antonia is dealing with the realization that she’s a witch, and that her mom lied to her and Kylie their whole lives, she never gets to have any room to explore any of it. Since I knew this was one of this year’s book-to-screen adaptations, I figured there was a lot more for her in Alice Hoffman’s novel, and I was right.

Antonia’s Storyline In The Book Of Magic

In Hoffman’s fourth Practical Magic novel, Book of Magic, Antonia is actually pregnant, but not with the father of her baby, with her gay best friends Scott and Joel. Following the death of Jet, she has a bit of a meet-cute when she meets Ariel, the granddaughter of their family lawyer. She’s instantly taken aback by Ariel, and the pair go on a date and even share a kiss.

In the context of The Book of Magic, why Antonia stays back and doesn’t go with her sister to break the curse just makes a lot more sense. Deciding not to travel when you’re expecting just offers a more plausible reason than the movie gives us. I also like that she starts to fall in love just as Kylie is trying to break the curse.

There’s another aspect to the novel I haven’t mentioned yet. Antonia is also pivotal in figuring out one missing piece that’s needed to break the Owens family curse. I much prefer the source material when it comes to Antonia’s plotline, but I assume the filmmakers felt juggling the four main characters was too much.

Even though Antonia Owens didn’t get enough to do, I am very happy Practical Magic 2 exists, and that it became the first movie to dethrone Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the box office when it hit theaters. Here’s hoping Maisie Williams’ next role is front and center because I want to see her in more big films!

Practical Magic 2 is the latest sequel to grace the 2026 movie schedule, and most critics seem to be in agreement on the movie. As it stands, the reviews have mostly been negative, with pundits laying out their rationale as to why the film doesn't work. However, now that the witchy flick is in theaters, it’s becoming quite clear that audiences don’t feel the same way about the Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock-led fantasy film. Let’s lay this all out, shall we?

Critics And Audiences Don't Agree On Practical Magic 2

Earlier this week, reviews dropped for Practical Magic 2, and there was a lot of negativity brought up about the new movie. The sequel has been called “practically garbage,” “rambling” and “significantly less charming” than the original movie. As it stands, it has also earned a 38 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 120 reviews.

However, the 93 percent audience score on RT tells a completely different story about what audiences think about it. Plus, it earned a B+ CinemaScore rating, which is certainly more than simply passing. Clearly, it’s a crowd pleaser, and it’s also opening No. 1 at the box office, nabbing the spot that's been held by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, (which has been breaking records) since July.

What Fans Are Saying About The Movie?

Now, it should be noted that the original Practical Magic didn’t necessarily impress critics either when it came out in 1998. The movie’s reviews amounted to 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and it actually flopped at the box office. But, tons of fans who love the classic film are raving about the sequel. Check out some comments, via Threads:

• “Critics really be liking the boring movies and rating them then best 😂😂. And giving Low scores to amazing movies because Practical Magic 2 was amazing. I was so excited, crying and laughing and crying some more. Enough said.” - @eternal_witchy
• “Just saw Practical Magic 2. I’ve waited 28 years for this sequel. Even purchased my ticket for today’s first showing a month ago. Yesterday I read that the critics hated it (guess what, they hated the first one too) so that told me I was going to love it! And I did. If you’re a fellow fan, go see it. And bring tissues. I might have ugly cried.” - @reblu26
• “Oh man. I just got out of the first showing of Practical Magic 2. Guys, GO SEE IT. Don't listen to critics who didn't even like the first one. All the concerns from the trailer are put to rest. It was amazing. Everyone in my theater laughed and cried. And it is SO aesthetically wonderful, just a beautiful film. Does honor to the first. You'll love it.” - @heatherw_illusiodm
• “I understand that the critics do not like practical magic 2, but they also didn’t like their original movie! This movie was made for us not for them! Loved It🖤” - @wiccanwitchempath

Fans had a lot of choice words for critics who didn’t get the sequel like they did. The reactions are like night and day! Other comments on social media are shouting it out for being nostalgic. For some, it was apparently so emotional that they cried, and others even went so far to call it better than the first one.

Practical Magic 2 takes place 25 years after the original movie and sees Sally Owens’ daughters all grown up (and played by Joey King and Maisie Williams). They have to grapple with the same generational curses Sally and Gilly had to deal with last time. The film also has Stockard Channing and Dianne West returning as Sally and Gilly’s aunts. And, it also has Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña. Solly McLeod and Katy Wix in the cast, too.

You can see Practical Magic 2 in theaters now, and decide if you side more with critics and general audiences.

Sandra Bullock has been taking a break from acting in recent years, but she's back to promote her movie on the 2026 release schedule, Practical Magic 2. And wow, am I realizing how much I missed her. Exhibit A: Her hilariously relatable rant about chin hairs.

Man, did I forget how real the actress can be, and then the Practical Magic 2 press tour came along. Bullock is just one of those celebrities that I want to be best friends with. As if I didn’t already love her for calling herself “Zendaya’s shoe polisher”, just check out Sandra Bullock’s thoughts on the topic of chin hairs:

So I never thought about this before, but now I’m never going to forget it. Most women can certainly relate to the stray chin hair every so often. It’s quite normal actually. But it’s so rarely talked about in public interviews that it’s easy to isolate the experience to yourself.

There’s something so lovely about Bullock getting honest about what she thinks about chin hairs. And her fears about what would happen if she wasn’t conscious to pluck them when they need to be plucked at one point is so good.

This happened during an appearance on Royal Court with her Practical Magic 2 co-star Nicole Kidman. Funny enough, Kidman doesn’t have the same chin hair thoughts. As the exchange went:

• Nicole: "I'm kind of hairless. Like a hairless cat."
• Sandra: "I mean I didn't say it's a forest. I said there was one."

Kidman’s comments about her lack of hair led Bullock to make fun of her a bit. Thank goodness Bullock was there to bring the chin hair realness, because Kidman sounds like she might actually be a fairy princess of a woman. (Though Kidman did get real about midnight margaritas the other day).

Bullock also talked a bit about how the mirrors in our cars are a common place to find unwanted chin hair one might not have noticed before. It’s interview moments like these when I realize that sometimes we’re all just having the same shared experience in life and not talking about it.

One time Florence Pugh totally talked about chin hairs while sharing a glitzy selfie on social media, and I found that super refreshing, too. There’s just something about us women normalizing the preconceived imperfections we have and regularly deal with rather than pretending they don’t exist all the time. Here’s hoping we get some of this energy on Practical Magic 2, which Bullock wanted to make for an emotional reason. The sequel is in theaters now.

Practical Magic flopped at the box office back in 1998 but came to earn cult status, largely for those in search of cozy fall movies to watch with midnight margarita in hand. Nearly three decades later, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back as the Owens sisters for Practical Magic 2. I was expecting critics to be charmed, if not by nostalgia then possibly by the objectively talented cast. Instead, most of the reviews are full of not-so-glamorous descriptions.

Maisie Williams and Joey King now portray Sally’s two daughters, who become aware of their family’s abilities and the curse that haunts the Owens women. There also seems to be a curse haunting this franchise with critics, because Witney Seibold of SlashFilm rates it just 4 out of 10, calling it “staggeringly unfunny, and really sloppily assembled.” Sally and Gillian are “unbearably obnoxious,” Seibold’s Practical Magic 2 review says, as she writes:

Anna McKibbin of AV Club grades Practical Magic 2 a D- ahead of its release on the 2026 movie calendar, saying that abandoning New England for cold and gray London gives the sequel an "antiseptic harshness.” The script constantly stalls out on “a series of convoluted contrivances” as it searches for an audience who doesn’t exist. In McKibbin’s words:

Todd Gilchrist of Variety says sometimes the best way to honor a beloved experience is to just leave it alone. Rather than making Practical Magic 2 an improvement over the critically panned first movie, Susanne Bier is content to have Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman retread the original for this “overlong, predictable” sequel. Gilchrist continues:

Not everyone is disappointed in the finished product, however. While Amelia Emberwing of The Wrap admits Practical Magic 2 has its issues, it also serves as a “fantastical reunion,” writing:

Alison Foreman of IndieWire is also satisfied with the sequel, rating it a B+. While it falls into the trap of mistaking alternate scenery for fresh ideas, there’s obvious appeal to watching Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock do literally anything together. That goes for Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, too, as Foreman writes:

Many people will surely find the charm in revisiting these characters three decades later, but critics overall have not been wowed by the sequel. Practical Magic 2 is premiering to a 36% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, don’t let these reviews stop you from drawing your own conclusions. The movie hits the big screen on Friday, September 11.

1998's Practical Magic has become a beloved cult classic in the decades since its release, with folks regularly re-watching it with an HBO Max subscription. The midnight margaritas scene is one of its most iconic, and its long-awaited sequel looks like it'll follow that transition when it hits theaters this weekend. Although Nicole Kidman just went off about that signature cocktail after a long press tour.

What we know about Practical Magic 2 has been limited, but that's about to change when it gets its wide theatrical release. Stars like Sandra Bullock have been talking about margs, and they've also been treated to plenty throughout the promotional tour. In a video on SiriusXM's YouTube, Nicole Kidman got real about just how many margaritas have been offered to her lately, saying:

Honestly, can you blame her? Kidman and the rest of the Practical Magic 2 cast (which unfortunately doesn't include Evan Rachel Wood) have been doing a full international tour to promote the new movie. And during that time they've seemingly been fed countless margaritas. So much so that the Moulin Rouge! actress needs a break from that particular cocktail.

Funny enough, it seems like the Oscar-winning actress was previously a big fan. When Reese Witherspoon did her viral Nicole Kidman impression she even mentioned margaritas. So maybe she just needs a break after Practical Magic 2 is released in order to enjoy them again.

For those who need a reminder, you can re-watch the truly iconic midnight margaritas scene from the original Practical Magic below. Just try not to dance along with the Owens witches to Harry Nilsson's song "Coconut."

The trailer for Practical Magic 2 shows Sally and Gillian brewing up their own batch of margaritas, presumably from the recipe taught to them by their aunts (played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest). So maybe Nicole Kidman and company should have expected to be inundated by that particular beverage while promoting Susanne Bier's long-awaited sequel.

I guess there really is too much of a good thing, at least when it comes to Nicole Kidman and margaritas. Luckily, the new movie is officially in theaters this weekend, so she should stop having folks constantly offering her that drink. Hopefully she'll still be able to enjoy them sometime in the future.

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters September 11th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Folks can also re-watch the beloved original movie over on HBO Max. Now excuse me while I blend up some margs for myself.

Dune: Part Three is hitting theaters later this year as part of the 2026 movie schedule and, understandably, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding it. Fans have been gushing about Denis Villeneuve’s latest film, which will close out his epic, science-fiction trilogy. I’ve enjoyed the hype that’s been conveyed by fans thus far, though I’m not delighted to know that Nicole Kidman can be counted amongst the admirers. The actress recently declared her love for the series, and she took a humorous approach to explaining why she’s not part of the films.

Kidman has certainly been part of some major movies throughout her career, from Eyes Wide Shut and Moulin Rogue! to The Hours and Aquaman. However, the chance to act against the fictional sands of Arakkis has eluded her. The Oscar winner discussed her love of the Frank Herbert-birthed series while appearing with Sandra Bullock on Vogue’s Off the Cuff segment (on YouTube). When both answered the question of what non-Practical Magic-related sequel they’d like to join, Kidman enthusiastically said:

That response led Bullock to ask the obvious question: why hasn’t she starred in one of the Timothée Chalamet-led movies. With that, Kidman dropped the following response:

For context, that “devastating” remark was shared in a somewhat faux disappointed tone meant to be funny. The Australia star also appeared to confirm that she was overexaggerating her feelings by sharing this next sentiment:

Now, that sentiment really does make her sound like a true fan. In the last few years, the Dune films have become must-see cinematic events. Between the star power and Villeneuve’s insistence on filming the movies on such a grand scale, it’s hard not to get the appeal. We’ve even reached the point where the popularity has gotten so high that some are of the impression that they can resell Part Three IMAX tickets for high prices online. Overall, this franchise’s cultural footprint is massive, and could resonate with audiences for some time.

While the films already feature stellar ensembles, I’d argue that Nicole Kidman would still be a stellar addition. It’s interesting to think about who Kidman could’ve possibly played in the movies. An obvious choice would be Lady Jessica, the mother of Chalamet’s Paul Atreides and a powerful member of the Bene Gesserit. I could see Kidman playing the role yet, at this point, Rebecca Ferguson played Jessica in a way that’s undeniably brilliant.

Ferguson is set to reprise her role for a scene in Part Three, which will seemingly set the record for being the shortest installment of the series. The movie is adapted from Herbert’s 1969 novel, Dune Messiah, which sees Paul descend into tyrannicism, as outside forces seek to usurp his tenure as emperor. Footage from the film seems to show Paul (and Chalamet by proxy) is in his “villain” era. That aside, though, it seems that the film is going to end this trilogy with a serious bang.

Best believe I’ll be seated when Dune: Part Three opens on December 18 as part of the “Dunesday” event involving Avengers: Doomsday. And, now that I know Nicole Kidman is also a fan, I imagine that the AMC Theaters collaborator will be sitting in a theater to check out Villeneuve’s latest piece of work as well.

Practical Magic is one of my favorite fall watches, so it's hard to believe that, with the hindsight of 2026, the movie was a major financial failure. The movie has become an October staple; “midnight margaritas” has practically become its own Halloween tradition, and Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are now back together for Practical Magic 2. None of that was guaranteed in 1998. As a matter of fact, Bullock remembers pretty clearly what it felt like watching the movie flop.

Speaking with Variety ahead of the sequel’s 2026 calendar release, the Oscar winner recalled how confident everyone felt about Griffin Dunne’s original movie before audiences and critics got their hands on it. She explained:

Those questions pretty much summarize the movie’s original reception. Practical Magic opened at No. 1 in October 1998 with $13.1 million, but it eventually finished with about $46.9 million domestically and $68.3 million worldwide. The Numbers lists its production budget at $60 million, while other contemporary estimates have placed it closer to $75 million. Either way, once marketing and theaters’ share of ticket sales entered the equation, those grosses were not enough to make Warner Bros. happy.

Critics were even less enchanted. The movie currently sits at 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, with much of the criticism centered on its wild tonal swings. One minute Bullock and Kidman are drinking margaritas with Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. The next, the movie is dealing with domestic abuse, murder and a boyfriend who refuses to stay dead.

I get why that baffled people in 1998. I also think that weird mixture is a big reason people love it now. Because Practical Magic did eventually find its audience. It just took the long way around.

Ultimately, the movie became a fixture on cable and VHS, where a generation of viewers could watch it repeatedly without worrying about opening-weekend numbers. As has been noted by film analysts, many women who grew up obsessively watching the movie on cable and on home video made it an annual Halloween favorite. Dunne himself said he began noticing the change when his daughter’s teenage friends started quoting the movie and freaking out when they learned her dad had directed it.

Now, Bullock and Kidman are returning for a sequel that probably would have sounded insane to anyone looking at those 1998 numbers. Kidman told the outlet that the timing was never something they tried to force:

Practical Magic 2, directed by Susanne Bier, is a page-to-screen adaptation of Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic, and it also brings back Channing and Wiest while adding Joey King, Maisie Williams and Lee Pace, which has caused a bit of controversy, as one of the original cast members was not asked back.

There is something fitting about a sequel arriving this way. After all, the first movie spent years quietly finding the audience Bullock thought would be there from the beginning. Turns out she was right. They were just late.

Check out Practical Magic 2 when it hits theaters on September 10, but if you want to revisit the OG that started it all, its streaming with an HBO Max subscription.

Did you know Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston are real-life besties? The two Hollywood stars met over 15 years ago when they were attending a mutual friend’s wedding and have been close ever since. And as Bullock has just revealed, Aniston is the friend she goes to when she wants to have a fabulous margarita.

The topic came up in an interview between Bullock and Nicole Kidman, since they’re currently promoting the premiere of Practical Magic 2 on the 2026 movie schedule. In the Practical Magic movies, they play sisters who love their “midnight margaritas”. When asked if Bullock has her own margarita recipe, she said this:

Why have your own margarita recipe when one of your BFFs can whip one up? As Bullock added in the People interview:

Hey, if a drink is going to take one out, at least let it be from a good friend. The story had Nicole Kidman’s curiosity piqued, and she said this:

These days, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are reportedly great friends, too, so perhaps the three of them all sharing a midnight margarita could happen. While Bullock and Kidman have known each other since making Practical Magic back in 1998, reports say they are “much closer now than they were almost 30 years ago,” when they made the original movie together.

Both Kidman and Bullock must have more in common than ever, considering they are wickedly successful actresses as well as moms who are no longer in their long-term relationships. For Bullock, her partner Bryan Randall died in 2023 after a private battle with ALS. She has two adopted children. Kidman filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years, Keith Urban, last September. She has four children herself, two of which she shares with the singer.

In Practical Magic 2, the actresses reprise their roles as the Owens sisters, who are witches living in a New England town. This time around, Sandra Bullock’s character's daughters are all grown up and played by Joey King and Maisie Williams. As the younger Owens sisters deal with the ramifications of the Owens family curse, Sally and Gilly must deal with a new magical family struggle once again.

Bullock has said that one big reason she wanted to make the sequel was because of how the franchise confronts generational patterns. So, we can’t wait to see it when it hits theaters on September 10.

While we wait for that day, though, you can work on perfecting your margarita recipe while Bullock continues to sip on Jennifer Aniston's.

Fall is around the corner, which means we’re finally about to have some magic back in our lives with Practical Magic 2 coming to the 2026 movie schedule on September 10. As we eagerly await seeing our favorite Owens sisters again, no one is rocking the witchy representation more than the younger generation, specifically Joey King. But while she may be killing the Method Dressing for the upcoming movie, she’s not taking the credit. In fact, she’s giving it away to Zendaya.

The Spider-Man actress is known for her Method Dressing thanks to her stylist Law Roach. She was constantly outdoing herself for the Brand New Day premieres. And we saw it yet again with that gorgeous winged Odyssey dress, which was a perfect fit for the Athena actor. Turns out, this ethereal style was inspiration for King to channel her own inner witch goddess. She dishes to Entertainment Tonight about how the iconic actor gave her inspiration. She says:

Her stylist, Jared Eng, has given King the perfect witchy look for Practical Magic 2 promotions. And nothing is showing that off more than the sheer aesthetic she’s been rocking. I’m loving how ethereal she looks, which feels like a callback to the tone of the first film.

She’s already shown off a sheer black dress when she stopped by BBC Radio Studios on August 26. And the look from Ermanno Scervino’s resort 2027 collection did not disappoint. Check it out:

But that’s not the only look she’s been rocking. Each time we see her, the more in awe I am of her dress choice. While she’s hardly the first actor we’ve seen Method Dressing (check out Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday press tour), her look is definitely one I’ve been favoring.

Like this sheer dress she wore at London Practical Magic 2 Photo Call on August 27. This is custom Miu Miu reminds me of Nicole Kidman’s energy from the first movie. It's glamorous, it's rebellious, and it's perfectly witchy. Check it out:

But this last look really casts a spell. When King attended the Warner Bros. Pictures Los Angeles premiere at Directors Village, I knew she would be looking her witchy best. And I was totally right. This look comes from upcoming designer Ilya Migmoon who fully understood the Method Dressing assignment and nailed it. Check it out:

This is another look that gives me Gillian vibes. There's an earthy quality to it that feels aligned with the 'practical magic' of the movie. It also makes me wonder if Kylie Owens will be channeling her aunt in the upcoming sequel, especially since King’s costar Maisie Williams has been dressing like Sandra Bullock for her promotional style.

Each look makes me that much more excited than the last one to get back into this magical world. And I’m fully expecting some fun looks in Practical Magic 2. We’ve already gotten a peak at some iconic looks when the official trailer dropped. King especially looked perfectly bewitching.

Nostalgia has been a powerful force in the entertainment world for years, leading to plenty of long-awaited sequels. Case in point: Practical Magic 2, a new book-to-screen adaptation featuring the beloved cast of the 1998 original (which is streaming with an HBO Max subscription). The Owens witches are back on the big screen to kick off spooky season, and Sandra Bullock's comment about why it's finally happening has me in my feels. Someone cue up "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson!

What we know about Practical Magic 2 has been limited, but that'll change when it finally hits theaters on September 10th. The movie wrapped last September, and with fans waiting nearly 30 years to catch up with the beloved characters. While speaking with her co-star Nicole Kidman for People, Bullock got real about what inspired this sequel, saying:

I'm not crying, you're crying. While the first Practical Magic movie was largely about romance and sisterhood, it's clear that the movie's leading ladies are approaching it with a different perspective after all these years. And Bullock's comment about the generation before her has me thinking about the matriarchs of my own family, including my grandmother who died just one week ago.

Despite our mothers and grandmothers taking care of us, they have their own feelings and hopes that us younger folks might not have considered. Bullock's comments about "longing" hit me right in the heart, and proved why now was the perfect time for a sequel.

In the same conversation, Nicole Kidman (who sometimes practices magic) also spoke about the way she and her onscreen sister are approaching Practical Magic 2. In her words:

While there will no doubt be plenty of witchcraft in Practical Magic 2, it sounds like Susanne Bier's movie will explore the Owens family dynamic in a way that seems super relatable. Each family has it own issues, and sometimes it can be difficult for generations to connect.

Three generations of Owens women will be taking center stage, and it seems like it'll be an emotional journey for moviegoers. I know that I was both touched and intrigued by the above comments. And after reading the above comments I'll definitely be bringing tissues to the theater.

Practical Magic 2 will hit theaters on September 10th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Now excuse me while I batch some midnight margaritas.

Nicole Kidman is back on the upcoming movie schedule, this time to return to her role of Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock. And, thanks to an interview that came out of the press tour, I just learned that the Oscar winner isn’t a stranger to casting a spell or so in her personal life.

Kidman’s niece, Lucia Hawley (daughter of her sister Antonia), was one of the journalists to talk to the stars of Practical Magic 2. In the interview, Hawley pointed out something bewitching about their family with these words:

Hawley is talking about Nicole’s mum, Janelle Ann Kidman, who died back in 2024 at the age of 84. Apparently, she was not only born on Friday the 13th, but she also taught her kids some helpful spells. Here’s what Nicole Kidman said when asked about her favorites by her niece:

Thank goodness the interview involved Sandra Bullock because she was just as curious as I was about this funny-sounding spell. Bullock questioned the Kidman gals about what exactly putting someone’s name in a freezer does, and they suggested it “freezes them out”. As Kidman’s niece added:

Does anyone else want to try this now? I had no idea this was a thing, but upon further research it’s quite a popular spell that’s been passed down for generations. All you need is a piece of paper, a pen or pencil to write the person’s name and a container of water to submerge it in. It apparently is used to “freeze” negative energy or unwanted behaviors from someone.

And the comment section of the SheerLuxe interview moment is flooded with people who’ve used the spell themselves. Some of whom even swear by the spell's effectiveness. The funny moment had Bullock spooked and asking if she’s been in the freezer, which Kidman totally denied. And Kidman suggested that the person she uses the spell on can always “come out of the freezer.”

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have been jetting all over lately promoting Practical Magic. This week, Kidman wore a gorgeous chain dress to the European premiere of the sequel. At the same event, Bullock let her daughter in the film, Maisie Williams, wear one of her former red carpet looks.

Practical Magic 2 comes to theaters on September 10. Until then, you can revisit the original right now with an HBO Max subscription.

Nostalgia has been a major factor in Hollywood for years, leading to many long-awaited sequels. The latest of these is Susanne Bier's Practical Magic 2, continuing the story of the original movie (which is streaming with an HBO Max subscription) almost 30 years later. The cast has been crushing the fashion game at various premieres, and I can't get over Maisie Williams dressing like Sandra Bullock... as well as Joey King's latest sheer outfit.

Joey King has rocked multiple sheer looks for Practical Magic 2, continuing the fashion trend that's been going strong for years. And while Nicole Kidman recently stunned in a custom Chanel dress, it was the younger Owens sisters who took the cake at the recent London premiere. Namely because Williams is method dressing as Bullock, while King wore another chic sheer ensemble. Check out the quartet of stars together below:

While some fans were bummed that OG actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip weren't asked to return for Practical Magic 2, at least some A+ talent were brought on to play the roles of Kylie and Antonia Owens. King and Williams have the resumes and talent to step into the magical franchise, and they've also been crushing the fashion game.

For this latest event, I love how closely Maisie Williams resembled Sandra Bullock. The Game of Thrones star rocked a choker just like her on-screen mother, and the black dress is almost identical to one that the Gravity star wore for the original movie. And they really do look like they could be related. So kudos to the casting team. Funny enough, Bullock posted an Instagram video about her onscreen daughter "raiding Mama's closet"

Williams and King are the new kids in town, and the trailers make it seem like they have great chemistry. You can see a full look at their most recent fashion serves below:

What we know about Practical Magic 2 has been limited, but luckily the movie will get its wide theatrical release shortly. But the book to screen adaptation will bring the Owens Witches from Massachusetts to the U.K., presumably to find the origins of their mysterious powers, and the curse that follows the women and sentences their love interests to death. Now that Sally's girls are old enough to have both powers and romantic lives, issues from the past will seemingly come to the surface.

The original Practical Magic might have come out back in 1998, but the movie is still a beloved project that's part of the pop culture landscape. The Midnight Margaritas, iconic soundtrack, and original cast are all beloved, so the pressure is on for the sequel to deliver the same magic (pun intended). While Sally's daughters were recast, OGs like Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest are all back in their roles.

Practical Magic 2 will hit theaters on September 10th as part of the 2026 movie release list, kicking off spooky season in the process.

Spooky season will be upon us before we know it, and it's kicking off in a big way with the upcoming release of Practical Magic 2. Fans of the original movie (which is streaming with an HBO Max subscription) are finally getting the chance to catch up with the Owens witches, and Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock have been attending various premieres. Although the latter Oscar-winning actress' dress at the European premiere is something I've never seen before.

Practical Magic 2's Joey King has been rocking some A+ fashion, but so has her onscreen aunt. At the recent European premiere, Nicole Kidman wore a custom Chanel gown with gorgeous accents at the top that make the need for accessories non-existent. Check it out below as she posed with Bullock:

I'm sorry, but this gown is pretty magical. With all due respect to Sandra Bullock's beautiful look, I can't take my eyes off Nicole Kidman in this photo thanks to the stunning custom Chanel dress that she's rocking. Specifically, the strands of pearls and gold chains that are draped around the bodice. And I can only imagine how sparkly and beautiful it looked for those lucky enough to see the ensemble in person.

Nicole Kidman let the dress do the talking at the Practical Magic 2 premiere, with her hair simple and straight. Accessory-wise, she's wearing just a watch, as well as some small gold earrings that perfectly match the beading around her dress. Talk about a fashion icon.

Practical Magic 2 wrapped production in September of 2025, and it's releasing almost exactly one year later. And while original actresses Evan Rachel Wood and Alexandra Artrip were recast as Sally's daughters Kylie and Antonia, there is still a ton of excitement about this long-awaited sequel. After all, it's a project nearly 30 years in the making.

What we know about Practical Magic 2 has been limited, but it looks like the story is one that'll span three generations of the Owens women. Because when Sally's daughter Kylie starts falling in love and developing her own magical abilities, the curse that haunts the family comes back to life. Interestingly enough, the movie will also see them changing locations, traveling from their iconic home in Massachusetts to the United Kingdom. And I can't wait to see what goes down, and (of course) those iconic midnight margaritas.

Luckily for generations of Practical Magic fans, the wait for the sequel is nearly over. And if Nicole Kidman keeps rocking amazing fashions while promoting the movie, I have to assume that even more eyes will be on the project.

Practical Magic 2 will hit theaters on September 10th as part of the 2026 movie release list. Fingers crossed that all the beloved returning characters survive their next magical adventure.

Nicole Kidman is known for her best films like Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge and The Hours but, in recent years, she has also become known for being memed on the internet. From her bizarre reaction to Tweety Bird being brought up on a podcast to her very earnest AMC commercials that have inspired Halloween costumes, Kidman is one of the internet’s favorite reaction GIFs. Now. she's humorously discussing one of her most memed Oscars moments, and I love hearing her side of the story.

Kidman and Lioness co-star Zoe Saldaña recently sat down for a Lie Detector interview with Vanity Fair. While promoting the much-waited Lioness Season 3, the duo asked each other questions to get their full honest perspectives on their pop culture presences. Saldaña asked Kidman about the viral video of her awkwardly clapping at the Oscars, to which Kidman said she’d never used this popular clip in her own correspondence with her friends, yet did give some insight into why she was clapping like that. She said:

For context, Kidman was spotted in the audience at the 2017 Oscars clapping for the performers with her fingers tilting out. Only her palms were making contact and many compared the awkward clap to a seal. She has talked about her clapping style before, but I love that it is still coming up even though it’s lived on the internet for years now. Even though Kidman might not use this GIF herself in her texts, many others do, and it’s still funny almost a decade later.

Honestly, the reason for the seal clap makes complete sense. Oftentimes, at these events, celebrities are being loaned extremely expensive jewelry they have to return the next day, so it makes sense that you’d want to make sure not to damage the pieces.

Kidman being careful not to break anything is logical, however, without the context it just appears absolutely hilarious. Apparently, the moment even made her adjust her clapping strategy at these events, now going with more of a golf clap, saying:

It's almost unfortunate that the viral moment made Kidman correct, because there would be something even more hilarious about her continuing to clap like that at every event. However, we never seem to be short meme-able moments from the Babygirl star. It feels like every time she does press, she does something that goes viral, which is why we all love her so much. She is, after all, a naturally unique individual and, clearly, the internet-forward culture can’t get enough.

When Nicole Kidman isn’t being your new favorite reaction GIF, she is working nonstop. You can see her in the latest season of Lioness, which is currently streaming with a Paramount+ subscription. You can also see her in one of the buzziest movies on the 2026 film schedule, Practical Magic 2, which hits theaters on September 11th.

Nicole Kidman is a truly legendary actress, and the Oscar-winning star is basically constantly working on new TV and movie projects. Kidman's best movies show off her many talents, so perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that AMC Theaters asked her to be their spokesperson. And I am LOLing at her doing the iconic "heartbreak feels good in a place like this" line after admitting folks are constantly asking her about it.

While promoting Season 3 of Lioness (streaming with a Paramount+ subscription), Kidman and her co-star Zoe Saldaña did Vanity Fair's liar detector video. Eventually the subject of Nicole Kidman's truly iconic AMC ad came up, and the actress/producer actually recited part of the dialogue after admitting folks constantly ask her to say "heartbreak feels good in a place like this." Check out the two actress' exchange below if you'd like a laugh.

I love how much of a good sport the Big Little Lies star is. I doubt she was ready for how beloved her AMC ad would become, but there's no way of predicting how the internet will cling to things. The ad has been a quotable part of the pop culture landscape for years now, and clearly she's been hearing from fans about it on the street.

Personally I've always loved the Kidman ad, and I'm bummed that it got shortened in recent years. I used to say the monologue along with the Moulin Rouge! star in theaters, although some moviegoers even stand and salute the video as it plays. In the above video Saldaña asked if folks salute her IRL, to which she responded:

I really can't blame them. Nicole Kidman has been there for nearly every theatrical experience I've had since her ad first debuted, and I have to assume that's endeared her to plenty of moviegoers as well. Luckily she seems to have a good sense of humor about all these new fan interactions, including those requests for the "heartbreak" line.

As a reminder, you can re-watch Kidman's AMC ad below. Although I'll admit it made me miss the full-length version that's no longer playing ahead of new movies.

This video instantly went viral, and has become a beloved part of the moviegoing experience for folks at AMC Theaters. The cult classic ad was even spoofed by Saturday Night Live, with Chloe Fineman doing an impression of Kidman in the process. That's how you know you've really made a mark in the popular culture .

Aside from her ads, Nicole Kidman will return to the big screen with Practical Magic 2 on September 11th as part of the 2026 movie release list. For now fans can watch new episodes of the actress on Lioness, airing Sundays on Paramount+.

It’s well known that Taylor Sheridan writes roles for his A-list leads, and many of them have praised his writing. The cast of Lioness has done that too, with Zoe Saldaña saying Sheridan “does raise the bar.” However, that presents a challenge for these actors too. So, how do they get through it? Well, Saldaña and her co-star Nicole Kidman love to send the producer voice notes.

I’d love to know how Sheridan reacts when he gets a notification that features an audio file and the name “Zoe Saldaña” or “Nicole Kidman.” That’s because it sounds like these messages from the actresses who play Joe and Kaitlyn are pretty important. During Paramount+’s The Icons of Taylor Sheridan’s Universe Event, the Avatar actress said (via People):

Lioness follows CIA operatives and features a lot of military strategy and jargon. That can’t be easy to learn or understand. So, these woman will call their boss when they have questions. And if the show’s creator doesn’t pick up, they’ll message again, as Saldaña explained:

Well, I’m happy to know he always calls back. I get why he’s hard to get a hold of, though. While Taylor Sheridan isn’t as involved in the Yellowstone universe as he once was, he is still leading Paramount+ projects like Lioness and Landman (to name a few). So, he has multiple crews and casts to collaborate with; however, it seems they all like how he runs things.

Kidman went on to compliment how “relevant” Lioness is, but also explained that keeping up with everything that goes on in it is difficult. Specifically, she said, “it’s really hard to follow.” So, I understand why they have to contact Sheridan every now and again to ask him questions.

These calls really work, though. Not only do they help the women get the answers they need to plot questions, but Sheridan also helps with their performances. Kidman called him “an incredible acting coach,” and explained why her conversations with him prove that:

All of this is important because Kidman said they have to “understand every single thing [they’re] saying.” So, it makes sense why they’re consistently sending their boss voice memos to get his takes and advice on what they’re working on.

Now, to see what they’ve been working on, you can stream new episodes of Lioness’s third season as they air on the 2026 TV schedule every Sunday with a Paramount+ subscription.

Celebrity couples have always fascinated the public. While in recent days pairs like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce or Zendaya and Tom Holland make headlines, in the '90s it was all about Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's marriage. And hold the presses, because the Big Little Lies icon made some rare comments about that relationship and time in her life.

Despite the decades that have passed, the public remains invested in Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's years together. They've both had marriages since then, but there's something about this pairing that continues to turn heads. During an interview with British Vogue, the Moulin Rouge! star spoke about tying the knot with Cruise as a young actress. As Kidman put it:

Honestly, can you blame her? While Nicole Kidman was also an A-list movie star, Tom Cruise's starpower could not be understated... especially in the '90s. And while outside voices advised her against tying the knot with the Mission: Impossible star, she refused to listen. Instead she followed her heart, and the pair of celebrities got married in on Christmas Eve 1990. They would end up married for a decade before their eventual divorce.

In the same interview, Kidman went on to share how those same voices and naysayers continued weighing on her relationship with Tom Cruise after their nuptials. In her words:

Of course, that's not exactly what happened. Kidman has been working consistently for decades, so marrying Tom Cruise didn't kill her career. In fact, she'd gone on to win the Oscar for The Hours in 2002, just one year after the former couple's divorce. Of course the timing of this turned heads and made even more headlines at the time.

Nowadays Kidman is known for being basically the busiest woman in Hollywood, as she's constantly releasing new movie and TV projects. Seriously, when does this woman sleep? Just this year she starred in a number of TV shows: Lioness, Margo's Got Money Problems, and Scarpetta, each of which is on a different streaming service.

Nicole Kidman will return to the big screen shortly in Practical Magic 2, which arrives September 11th as part of the 2026 movie release list. As for Tom Cruise, his next big movie is Digger on October 2nd.

We’re coming up on one year since the shocking news of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce after two decades together. It’s surely been a tough time of transition for the family of four — who include their teenage daughters Sunday Rose and Faith — but the former couple seems to have come to an amicable place, and apparently Sandra Bullock may have played a role in that.

Nicole Kidman’s split from country music singer Keith Urban came around the same time as her reunion with Sandra Bullock for Practical Magic 2 (which is set to hit the 2026 movie calendar in September), and Bullock was reportedly instrumental in helping her on-screen sister not succumb to negativity. An alleged insider told In Touch:

There have certainly been difficult things for Nicole Kidman to navigate during the past year, but she’s been focused on moving forward — as evidenced by her sweet Father’s Day tribute to Keith Urban.

Part of that may be Sandra Bullock’s influence, who reportedly became great friends with Nicole Kidman on Practical Magic 2. The insiders suggest Bullock may have pulled from her own experiences while offering support:

Sandra Bullock’s longtime partner Bryan Randall died in 2023 after a private battle with ALS, so one can see why she would allegedly encourage the former couple to “be kinder to each other,” if, for no other reason, the sake of their daughters. The source continued:

Regardless of how much Sandra Bullock directly assisted in helping Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban get to a healthy place in their post-divorce relationship, I’m glad the exes got there, and it’s good to know that Nicole Kidman has friends like Bullock to lean on.

We’ll get to see them both when Practical Magic 2 is released Friday, September 11. The sequel takes place 25 years after the events of its 1998 predecessor, as the witchy Owens sisters face a new crisis regarding the origin of their powers and must take action to save the family’s next generation.

It will be especially nice to see this reunion knowing how much Sandra Bullock was there for Nicole Kidman during her breakup.

This weekend we celebrated Father’s Day, and it was great to see so many celebrities spending the day with their families and honoring the dads and other parental figures in their lives — including the heroes who don’t let their kids skip the lines at Disney like Adam Sandler. However, for some families, Father’s Day can be more complicated. Should moms pay tribute to their children’s fathers, even if they’re not together anymore? Nicole Kidman and Gisele Bündchen seem to have different takes on the matter.

Nicole Kidman Posts Photo Of Keith Urban On Father’s Day, Despite Breakup

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split last year after 20 years together shook the celebrity relationship world. However, even as Kidman continues “moving forward,” the Practical Magic 2 star said they are still a family because of the two children they share — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. As such, she honored both her own father and the country music star in a Father’s Day Instagram Story:

Those photos are actually so sweet — showing her dad carrying her as a young girl and then her younger daughters being carried by Keith Urban when they were little. Nicole Kidman may have chosen to include her ex (at least one of them) in her Father’s Day tribute, but not all celebrities followed the same path.

Gisele Bündchen Celebrates Joaquim Valente But Makes No Mention Of Tom Brady

Gisele Bündchen seems to have a different take on the matter, as she did not honor Tom Brady — the dad of her older two children, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13 — in her own Father’s Day post. Like Nicole Kidman, the supermodel included a pic of her own dad, but her Instagram post was mostly reserved for her new husband, Joaquim Valente, who she praised as an “incredible role model” and thanked him for his “love, humility, integrity, discipline, kindness and consistency”:

Gisele Bündchen and Joaquim Valente welcomed their first child together in February 2025 before tying the knot that December. She was previously married to Tom Brady for 13 years before divorcing in 2022. The NFL great has said co-parenting remains a priority for him, though it hasn’t come without bumps in the road.

His ex-wife was allegedly not pleased with the harsh jokes from Netflix’s Roast of Tom Brady, many of which centered around Gisele Bündchen, her then-boyfriend Joaquim Valente and Brady seemingly choosing football over his family. His children were allegedly affected by that, and the ex-quarterback admitted he’d made a mistake.

There’s no doubt that Father’s Day can be tricky, especially when there’s been strife or separations in one’s family. Sources suggested the holiday would be tough for Brad Pitt, as the children he shares with ex-wife Angelina Jolie continue to drop his last name.

The decision of whether or not to recognize an ex is a tough one, and I don’t think there’s a right answer. Different factors can come into play, and the above examples show that people are going to have different philosophies. Who are we to judge?

While the New York Knicks won Game 4 of the NBA Finals, I think Taylor Swift and her girl squad won best dressed thanks to their matching punny T-shirts. Made by Alana Haim herself, the musician, her sister Este Haim, Taylor Swift and eventually Mariska Hargitay sat courtside in tops that said “Stevie Knicks,” “Knickelback” and “Knickole Kidman.” Now, Nicole (or should I say “Knickole”) Kidman has responded to the viral fashion moment.

I would assume it’d be an honor to have your name turned into a pun by Taylor Swift and her girl squad. That assumption turned out to be correct, as Kidman reposted Haim’s post about their “girls just wanna have pun” shirts on her Instagram story alongside a video of the pop star cheering on the Knicks during their game against the San Antonio Spurs that aired on the 2026 TV schedule. Take a look:

The girls really were having so much fun, and it seemed the actress was too. Clearly, Nicole Kidman loved this punny moment, and she was cheering on the women and their viral moment.

Now, we know Alana Haim made extra T-shirts. She told Vogue she did, and that’s how Mariska Hargitay ended up with one (which she was notably wearing in the viral image of her reacting to the Knicks winning). So, maybe they could mail one to Nicole Kidman; I bet the Practical Magic star would treasure it.

Of course, it’s not shocking that Kidman was supportive of this punny moment. She was one of many celebrities to attend the Eras Tour a few years ago. She and her now-ex-husband, Keith Urban, went to a show in May of 2023, and a TikTok from the country singer shows they were enthusiastically supporting Swift, like Swift supports the Knicks.

With Game 5 of the NBA Finals fast approaching, I’m excited to see the fits people put together for what could be the last game of the series. While it’s unclear if Swift and co. will be present at this match that will take place in San Antonio, I hope they are, and I hope they have more pun T-shirts ready.

The public has gotten a real kick out of this fashion moment, and one of the subjects of the tops did too. So, I’d really like to see more. However, if that doesn’t happen, I’m thrilled with what we got. Those T-shirts were a moment, and they paired great with the Knicks' big win.

So, with all that said and done, to see who shows up at Game 5 of the NBA Finals and to see, you know, the game itself, you can watch it on ABC tonight, June 13, at 8:30 p.m. ET. If the Knicks win, they win it all. If the Spurs win, the series will head back to New York for Game 6. While we don’t know the outcome of that game yet, we do know one thing: Knickole Kidman approved of the fabulous Knicks-themed T-shirts Taylor Swift and co. wore during Game 4.

Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelley have proven that they can bring the drama through streaming series like Big Little Lies and The Undoing, and now they’ve teamed up again for Margo’s Got Money Troubles. The book-to-screen adaptation stars Elle Fanning as the titular Margo, and with the series hitting the 2026 TV schedule on April 15, critics have shared their reviews for the Apple TV series.

Margo is the daughter of a Hooters waitress (Michelle Pfeiffer) and former professional wrestler (Nick Offerman) who turns to OnlyFans for money after an unexpected pregnancy. Richard Roeper of RogerEbert says Elle Fanning carries the series with grace and humor, and the ensemble helps to create a “wickedly funny, sex-forward” series that’s one of the most engaging so far this year. He gives Margo’s Got Money Troubles 3.5 out of 4 stars, writing:

Taylor Gates of Collider is similarly impressed by the upcoming A24 series, rating it a 9 out of 10. As someone who claims to be a “the book is better” kind of person, this critic says the screen adaptation is just as good. Some small tweaks to the source material work to its advantage, and it still manages to capture the book’s spunky spirit. Gates writes:

Allison Picurro of TV Guide calls Margo’s Got Money Troubles a “technicolor charmer” that sets itself apart in the oversaturated world of streaming limited series by being “totally, completely, honestly itself.” Picurro rates the series 8.5 out of 10 and says:

Branyan Towe of Loud and Clear joins the other critics in giving the upcoming Apple TV series a near-perfect review — 4.5 stars out of 5. David E. Kelley finds the perfect balance of comedy and drama, Towe writes, and Elle Fanning will “stir your soul.” This one will definitely “surprise audiences,” the critic says:

Angie Han of THR says Margo’s family at first seems like the aggressively quirky but not-quite-real characters we’ve seen time and again on our screens. However, look closer and you’ll find a really interesting story about relationships that are very much grounded in the real world. Han’s review of Margo’s Got Money Troubles calls it “warn, welcoming and well-acted,” as she continues:

Suffice it to say the critics are overwhelmingly pleased with the latest collab between David E. Kelley and Nicole Kidman, but if the above reviews aren’t enough to convince you, the series has earned a Certified Fresh 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first three episodes of Margo’s Got Money Troubles can be streamed now, as of April 15, with an Apple TV subscription. Episodes will drop weekly starting Wednesday, April 22.

This week’s list of streaming highlights includes a bit of everything. Whether you subscribe to your favorite platforms for the best streaming movies, the best original series, or to get access to a library of Hollywood films and catch up on the ones you missed in theaters, this week has whatever you want.

Balls Up - April 15 (Prime Video)

Mark Wahlberg has made some insane comedies in his career, but Balls Up certainly has the most insane premise of them all. Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser star as marketing executives who find themselves at the World Cup as part of a condom sponsorship deal. However, the two get a bit more involved in the game than planned, leading to a country full of irate soccer fans out for blood.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles - April 15 (Apple TV)

Without question, the most star-studded addition to the streaming calendar this week is the new series Margo’s Got Money Troubles, available with an Apple TV subscription. The movie stars Elle Fanning as the daughter of a Hooters waitress (Michelle Pfeiffer) and a professional wrestler (Nick Offerman) who finds herself a single mother trying to make ends meet. It looks to be a movie that is both heartwarming and hilarious. Nicole Kidman also appears and is producing the new series from David E. Kelley.

Beef, Season 2 - April 16 (Netflix)

The first season of Beef was a runaway hit on Netflix. Now the second season has the unenviable task of matching that success. The show will tell an entirely new story with an entirely new cast of characters. Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan lead the new story as a couple who get into a massive public fight, leading to a chain reaction of wild events.

Roommates - April 17 (Netflix)

Adam Sandler has had incredible success on Netflix, and now your Netflix subscription gives you access to even more members of the Sandler family. Roommates stars Sadie Sandler, daughter of the Happy Gilmore actor, has a woman who goes away to college to find that she might have the roommate from hell... or she may have just made a new best friend.

Dust Bunny - April 17 (HBO Max)

There’s a decent chance that you missed Dust Bunny when it was in theaters, but this fantastical film reunites writer/director Bryan Fuller with his Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen as a hitman hired to kill the monster under a girl’s bed, who she believes ate her family. It’s Fuller's feature film debut in a movie full of his trademark twisted whimsy. It’s the best reason this week to have an HBO Max subscription.

American Gladiators - April 17 (Prime Video)

A staple of syndicated TV in the early 1990s, American Gladiators combined the style and flash of professional wrestling with real athletic competition and a bit of reality TV. The show was already rebooted once with Hulk Hogan as the host, and now the show launches again with a Prime Video subscription, with another WWE star, Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, hosting the show.

WrestleMania 42 - April 18 & 19 (ESPN App)

WWE programming has gone through a lot of changes over the last couple of years, so if you want to watch WrestleMania 42, you’ll need either the ESPN app or a Disney+ subscription with ESPN access.

April has been a great month for streaming content, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon, so after you’ve watched all this, come back next Monday for a new list of what’s not to miss.

For the past few years, Nicole Kidman has been landing project after project, with all of those hitting either theaters or streaming. This year alone, she landed the title role in the book-adapted TV series Scarpetta (which is streaming with a Prime Video subscription), and she has more on the way. However, Kidman -- like some of her peers -- is now ready to take a break. And her reason for that is actually not connected to her divorce from Keith Urban.

It's become somewhat common as of late to see starlets take some time for a bit of R&R after booking various gigs. Just recently, Zendaya confirmed she would take time off following this big year of projects. More recently, Nicole Kidman revealed to USA Today that she’ll be doing the same thing:

I’ve got to say that’s surprising news to me. Considering the number of projects the actress has been signing on for lately, from Lioness to Scarpetta, I figured Kidman would want to keep the momentum going. Not only that, but I was eager to see how she'd build upon her sweet milestone that involves collaborating with female directors. Still, at the end of the day, everyone can use a breather, right?

It's, of course, no secret that Nicole Kidman has made headlines in recent months due to her split from Urban, who she was married to for 19 years. Yet the Oscar-winning actress didn't mention those legal proceedings when explaining her decision to take a step back:

That’s truly a very sweet reason! With Kidman’s daughters with Keith Urban -- Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret -- being 17 and 15, respectively, I can imagine the proud mom wanting to make the most of her time with them before they leave the nest. On that note, an insider previously claimed that Sunday and Faith Urban are allegedly supporting their mom through the divorce and, apparently, they're all living together.

The Kidman Urban sisters are also reportedly splitting time between their two parents and, per reports, there's no drama over that. With everything that's transpired, it’s good that Nicole is now eager to have a whole summer of family time with her kids.

Despite her divorce, Nicole Kidman said she was ready to move forward with her family in mind. While the talented actress may be keeping this summer free, we still have her 2026 movie schedule release, Practical Magic 2, to look forward look forward to later this year, as it comes out on September 11th. Despite Kidman's need for a break, I have a feeling she won't be able to sit still for too long, as she is a starlet who definitely seems to like being on the move.

I definitely don't mean to rush Kidman back into work, though. As a fan, I'm excited that she's taking some time off, and I'm eager to see if she posts some vacay photos featuring herself and her daughters. Here's hoping the family enjoys their summer together!

Every streaming service has a number of original shows coming out, and those with an Amazon Prime subscription were recently treated to the full season of Scarpetta. The book to screen adaptation finally brought Patricia Cornwell's character Dr. Kay Scarpetta to television, played by none other than Nicole Kidman. I had the chance to speak with the author ahead of the show's release, where she praised an A-lister for finally getting her work to the small screen.

While some folks are figuring out how to watch Scarpetta, others are deep into the eight-episode season. It remains to be seen if the original series becomes one of the best Amazon shows to binge-watch, but releasing the full season definitely lends itself to that. As you can see from the video above, I asked Cornwell why now was the right time to bring Dr. Kay to television. She told me:

Jamie Lee, you are all of us! It sounds like the recent Oscar-winner is a big reason why Scarpetta finally happened, and Cornwell's signature character was adapted for TV. In addition to starring as Kay's older sister Dorothy Scarpetta, Curtis is also an Executive Producer on the new Amazon series. And it seems like she's really helped to finally get the character on the small screen.

Cornwell isn't the only person who spoke to me about how JLC helped to make Scarpetta a reality. In a separate interview, both Ariana DeBose and Bobby Cannavale told me they were personally recruited by the Halloween icon. So clearly Curtis was a big reason why this adaptation became a reality.

Patricia Cornwell also name dropped creator/showrunner/writer Liz Sarnoff for being the creative force that found a way to bring Dr. Kay Scarpetta's story from the page to the screen. There are a ton of book and characters to use as inspiration, and the author seems to be thrilled that the Scarpetta series is the way her narrative universe was finally brought to TV. Sounds like Curtis and Sarnoff were a winning combination.

The critical response to Scarpetta has been mixed, but it should be interesting to see how audiences respond to the new Amazon series. If it ends up being popular on the streaming service, there are plenty of novels that could potentially be adapted for future seasons. Only time will tell.

The full season of Scarpetta is streaming in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video as part of the 2026 TV schedule. And there are eight episodes to binge once the mystery reels you in.

Nicole Kidman has heard the criticism before. Ever since she won the Academy Award for The Hours, some skeptics have pointed to a familiar Hollywood trope: the idea that actresses only win Oscars when they transform themselves to look less traditionally attractive. Kidman’s portrayal of author Virginia Woolf famously included a prosthetic nose, and over the years, that detail has become shorthand for the argument. But if anyone expected the actress to apologize for the performance, they’re likely to be disappointed, because she has an answer for all the haters.

In a recent conversation with Variety, the Oscar winner reflected on the legacy of the performance while discussing her career, upcoming projects and life in Nashville. When the topic turned to the long-standing commentary about her physical transformation in The Hours, Kidman didn’t seem particularly bothered by the narrative. In fact, she had a pretty straightforward response:

The Hours is one of Kidman's best performances, it earned her the Best Actress Oscar in 2003, and it remains one of the most discussed roles of her career. The film itself, directed by Stephen Daldry and a book-to-screen adaptation of Michael Cunningham’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, interwove the lives of three women across different time periods. Kidman's Woolf anchored the narrative’s literary origins, portraying the author as she wrote Mrs. Dalloway.

While the prosthetic nose became a frequent talking point at the time, the Eyes Wide Shut actress makes a good point: the focus on that detail has always missed the bigger picture. For her, the transformation wasn’t about gimmickry; it was about disappearing into the character. She continued:

This acting philosophy reflects the Babygirl performer's choices throughout her career. Acting is about transformation, not self-presentation, and the Australian-born A-lister has often described herself as a “worker bee,” someone who loves immersing herself fully in different roles rather than simply playing versions of herself on screen. That approach has helped define a career that’s now spanned more than three decades.

The Academy Award win was simply a byproduct of the process of building Virginia Woolf as a fully realized character. Costume designer Ann Roth, director Stephen Daldry and writer David Hare all contributed to shaping the look and feel of the character, just as the Moulin Rouge! star adjusted her voice, posture and emotional approach to portray the troubled literary icon.

More than 20 years later, Nicole Kidman’s career is still going strong. She has a packed slate of projects arriving on the 2026 movie calendar and TV schedule, including Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta, streaming with an Amazon Prime subscription, and the long-awaited Practical Magic 2, starring Sandra Bullock.

One of the bigger shocks of 2025 in pop culture news came when it was announced that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were splitting after 20 years together. Now, in the months since their divorce was reportedly finalized, the actress has finally opened up about how she’s “moving forward.”

This year is going to be a big one professionally for Nicole Kidman, as she has big releases on both the 2026 TV schedule and the 2026 movie calendar. However, looking back on the year before, while it was good work-wise, it was tumultuous personally. So, with all that in mind, Variety asked the actress if she was “doing all right since [her] separation.” In response, she said:

This statement goes hand-in-hand with the message Kidman posted on New Year’s about looking forward to what was to come. Notably, along with those words, she also posted a photo with her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

It’s been reported that the former couple’s kids live with Kidman, but do see Urban regularly. Apparently, “there is no drama” when it comes to their daughters. However, as the country singer reportedly moved in with his new girlfriend, a source did make claims that the kids spend significantly more time with their mom.

Now, shifting back to Kidman’s outlook on her life over the last couple of years, earlier in the interview, she discussed how 2026 will be “the year of Nicole Kidman.” The journalist noted that “every year is probably the year of ” the actress. However, in response, she explained that 2025 needs to be excluded from that:

However, now she’s back and as busy as ever. As she noted in the interview, she’s excited for the release of Practical Magic 2 on September 18 and going into “full witch mode” with her co-star Sandra Bullock. Plus, her new show Scarpetta is now available for those with an Amazon Prime subscription. Along with all that, her show Margo’s Got Money Troubles will come out this year, and we’re hopeful that 2026 will also feature some updates about the new seasons of Lioness and Big Little Lies.

So, along with moving forward personally, she’s maintaining the stellar career she’s always had. Therefore, yes, it would seem that Nicole Kidman is “moving forward” in stride.

Nicole Kidman is certainly keeping busy these days, with multiple projects headed to the big and small screens. The first of those is Scarpetta, the long-awaited book-to-screen adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s novel series, which premieres March 11 on the 2026 TV schedule. Critics have seen all eight episodes, which will be available to stream with a Prime Video subscription, and they’ve got mixed opinions.

Nicole Kidman, who positively slayed by pairing a blazer with sheer skirt at the series’ premiere, stars as the titular forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta. She’s joined by Jamie Lee Curtis (who executive produces along with Kidman), Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale and more impressive names. Aramide Tinubu of Variety warns that Scarpetta is a gruesome watch, but a sensational one, writing:

Nick Schager of the Daily Beast calls the series “your next obsessive binge-watch,” and says showrunner Liz Sarnoff, Nicole Kidman and the stellar supporting cast have assembled all of the necessary pieces for a long-running franchise. Schager says:

Daniel Fienberg of THR is struck by the “audacious willingness” of the showrunner to take such liberties from the source material, thus risking backlash from Patricia Cornwell devotees who have waited so long for this adaptation. The critic wonders if such choices might turn fans away from additional seasons, writing:

Matt Roush of TV Insider rates Scarpetta just 2 stars out of 5, saying the “queasy,” “grisly” procedural aspects too often take a backseat to the “overwrought domestic angst” of Kay’s home life. The critic writes:

Saloni Gajjar of AV Club gives it a D, saying Scarpetta marks a low point on Nicole Kidman’s journey of increasingly substandard dramas. The series is a “hot mess,” Gajjar writes, and feels more like “one of those fake shows used as punchlines in 30 Rock and Insecure.” Gajjar continues:

Critics don’t collectively agree on this latest thriller series from Nicole Kidman, but some really dug it, so if you’re one of the fans who’s been waiting to see Patricia Cornwell’s series come to life on your television screen, your time has come. Scarpetta premieres Wednesday, March 11 on Amazon’s Prime Video.

You can always count on Nicole Kidman to bring her A-game both on-screen and on the red carpet. She just proved that again, too, because as her new show, Scarpetta, prepares to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, she paired a blazer dress with a sheer skirt for its red carpet, creating a stunning and innovative take on the sheer trend.

Scarpetta, which is a book-to-screen adaptation based on Patricia Cornwell’s novels, is set to premiere for those with an Amazon Prime subscription on March 11. So, to celebrate, Nicole Kidman, who plays the titular forensic pathologist, showed up to the New York premiere in style. Take a look:

As you can see, Kidman was rocking a stunning double-breasted black blazer dress that transitioned into a black sheer skirt. While the top half is all business and the bottom half is very fun, this combo actually works so well. Overall, it creates a stunning fashion moment that’s unlike other sheer looks I’ve seen.

According to the actress’s stylist, Jason Bolden, the look is by Chanel and its artistic director, Matthieu Blazy. His Instagram post about the look also highlights the shoes Kidman was wearing under the skirt, which were black high heels that featured a bright red apple in the middle of the heel.

Overall, Kidman let the look stand for itself, as she wasn’t wearing statement jewelry, and she kept her glam fairly neutral.

All around, this outfit was so fun, and I love that the Big Little Lies star showed off a new side of this beloved trend.

It actually reminds me of the time Kristen Stewart proved that a sheer skirt and shorts can go together. I’m also thinking of other innovative takes on this trend, like Rachel Zegler’s high-neck lavender mini dress from last year and the sheer snakeskin gown Jenna Ortega rocked at one of Wednesday’s Season 2 premieres. Truly, the sheer trend knows no bounds, and I'm here for how Nicole Kidman emphasized that point with this fit.

I also love that she wore it to celebrate Scarpetta. The crime thriller series follows Kidman’s Dr. Kay Scarpetta as she returns to her hometown to investigate a murder, and it features a dual timeline that flashes between the aforementioned present story and the 1990s, when Scarpetta was in the early years of her career.

Alongside Kidman, the show stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Ariana DeBose and Rosy McEwen (who plays the younger version of Kidman’s character).

So, all around, it’s a rock star cast and a thrilling new streaming show that I cannot wait to see. However, while we wait for its March 11 premiere, I’ll be thinking about how Scarpetta’s star paired a blazer with a sheer skirt in a very fun and fresh way.

The Ides of March are nearly upon us, and with them comes this week’s fresh batch of streaming goodness. From highly anticipated brand new series to new seasons of already successful shows, we’re getting plenty of great stuff on all your favorite streaming platforms. Alongside that, one of the biggest movies streaming this month is one of the biggest box office hits in years. Here’s what you don’t want to miss this week.

One Piece, Season 2 - March 10 (Netflix)

The history of live-action adaptations of popular anime is spotty at best, and that’s just the ones produced by Netflix. Luckily, the incredibly successful One Piece anime was well-received by fans during its first season. And fans won’t need to wait for batched or even weekly episodes, as the entire second season will be available with your Netflix subscription on the same day.

Zootopia 2 - March 11 (Disney+)

The first Zootopia was billion dollar hit for Disney, so the eventual announcement of a sequel was little surprise. Still, I’m not sure anybody expected the sequel surpass the original and become one of the most successful animated movies ever made. If you somehow didn’t catch the film in theaters, or even if you did, your Disney+ subscription will bring you Zootopia 2 starting this week.

Scarpetta - March 11 (Prime Video)

Patricia Cornwell’s popular medical examiner, Kay Scarpetta, makes the jump from book to screen in the form of Nicole Kidman for this brand new series, available with a Prime Video subscription. Jamie Lee Curtis also stars in this series that could turn into a significantly long-running affair, considering there are nearly 30 books in the series.

It’s Dorothy - March 13 (Peacock)

The Wizard of Oz is arguably more popular now than it has been in decades, thanks to the success of the Wicked films. While the second movie, Wicked: For Good, is still a week away from its streaming debut, this week, your Peacock subscription will get you a brand new documentary on the life of a character who doesn’t feature much in those movies: Dorothy Gale.

The Madison - March 14 (Paramount+)

I have no idea how Taylor Sheridan has so many different television series on the air at once, as he seems to be adding new ones weekly. Fans of Sheridan’s dramatic character-focused storytelling really need a Paramount+ subscription because it’s the place to catch episodes of both the recently started CBS series Marshals and the brand new The Madison, starring Michele Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell.

The Oscars - March 15 (Hulu)

There are so many award shows now that they can be tough to keep track of, but I think we can all agree that there is still only one that really matters. The Oscars are the night that movies celebrate themselves, and regardless of who wins, movie fans will be watching. Conan O’Brien returns as host, and the show airs on ABC but will also be available live with a Hulu subscription.

With the second half of march giving us movies like Wicked: For Good and series like Daredevil: Born Again, Season 2. It’s sure to continue to be a great month for streaming.

Fans were shocked back in September, when it was announced that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were ending their marriage after 19 years. There was a lot of speculation regarding the struggles they’d faced, how the Oscar-winning actress felt (she did get those breakup bangs, after all) and if the country music star was referencing her in performances on The Road. Now, an insider is suggesting he’s moved in with a new girlfriend, and Kidman and their daughters allegedly have thoughts.

While some celebrity divorces can drag on for years, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban came to a settlement quickly, less than four months after news of their breakup. Their agreement included Kidman having primary custody of their daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, who have been traveling together and, according to a source for the Daily Mail, supporting each other amidst news of a possible new romance for Urban. The alleged insider said:

That would be pretty big news, if Keith Urban has not only found a new girlfriend but is living with her. Regardless of the reason, though, Nicole Kidman definitely seems to be getting a lot of bonding time in with her girls — and not just because she has custody of them for 306 days of the year (to Urban’s 59). The source said:

In the weeks that followed the split, it was reported that Sunday and Faith were spending as much time as possible with their dad and that there was no drama. Despite the custody agreement, Nicole Kidman allegedly let her daughters stay with Keith Urban whenever they wanted.

If reports of a new girlfriend are true, it might mean that dynamic has shifted a little, as the insider alleged Nicole Kidman’s posts with the girls might be a jab at her ex, saying:

As for who Keith Urban, 58, might be dating (or even living with), there are rumors circulating around 26-year-old country singer Karley Scott Collins. The two artists were reportedly both on the C2C Music Tour last spring, with Scott Collins apparently joining him on his High and Alive Tour afterward, which ended soon after news of his breakup. However, via her reps, Scott Collins has denied claims that she's romantically involved with Urban. In an Instagram stories post, she called the reports "absolutely ridiculous" and "untrue."

We’ll have to wait to see what developments are happening in Keith Urban’s love life, as it was previously speculated that he might be involved with his guitarist Maggie Baugh. Not only did her dad reject this narrative, but it was learned she had a boyfriend and was reportedly very happy in the relationship.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban made headlines late in 2025 after it was reported that they’d separated after 20 years of marriage. Shortly after, it was confirmed that Kidman filed for divorce in Nashville, with “irreconcilable differences” being named as the cause. Neither Urban nor Kidman have spoken publicly about their split, but what we now know is that the divorce has been finalized. That development was also accompanied by details regarding why the former spouses were able to wrap up the proceedings so quickly.

There have been a number of instances in which divorces between Hollywood couples can drag on for some time. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s situation is such an example. The variables seem to be a bit different when it comes to the Kidman/Urban split. When TMZ reported on the latter couple’s divorce having been finalized, it was mentioned that the pair figured out the logistics even before the A Family Affair star filed last fall. Because of that, she and Urban apparently just had to wait for the judge to sign off on everything.

Some conditions within that divorce agreement have come to light. A major point involves Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s two daughters – Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (15). Per TMZ, Kidman and Urban have a co-parenting plan in place that involves attending classes. The two teens will also spend 306 days of the year with Kidman and 59 with Urban. Moving forward, both stars will also make joint decisions involving their kids’ health and education.

Both Kidman and Urban also waived spousal and child support. The two exes are also retaining the rights to their respective assets. As of this writing, attorneys for neither party have publicly commented on the reported details of the divorce agreement.

Speculation continues to swirl around the precise factors that contributed to the Kidman/Urban divorce. A few insiders alleged early on that the stars’ marriage was a constant work in progress. Meanwhile, others alleged that Urban had engaged in an affair with his guitarist, Maggie Baugh. Those cheating rumors were subsequently shot down by Baugh’s father.

Insiders have also alleged that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s divorce wasn’t exactly a secret amongst their social circles. Urban reportedly even set up a place of his own before the divorce became public. On top of that, though, it was alleged that Kidman was “dreading” the moment that the divorce was revealed to the world at large. Sources also allege that the Lioness star was struggling with maintaining a healthy dynamic for her daughters amid the split. Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt.

What can be said about Kidman and Urban with certainty is that they’ve remained busy within their professional lives. Kidman has several TV and movie productions on the docket, with one of the biggest being Practical Magic 2, which wrapped this past September. Throughout the fall of 2025, Urban also co-headlined the new CBS reality competition series The Road, which consisted of pre-filmed episodes.

Given that their divorce is now finalized, both Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are now in a position to move forward in whatever way they see fit. Still, even though they’re no longer together, the details of their agreement would indicate that they’ll maintain a united front when it comes to caring for their daughters.

After a year of big personal change, Nicole Kidman made it clear that she’s looking forward to what’s coming next. While she and Keith Urban are still working through their divorce, the actress is staying optimistic as we head into this new chapter. So, in celebration of the end of 2025 and the start of 2026, the actress posted a message about the new year.

Back in September, Urban and Kidman separated, and in the months after that, reports emerged about how they both were doing. They were married for 19 years, and splitting up after that long cannot be easy. It had been reported that apparently Kidman was having a hard time navigating her divorce, seeing as she shares kids with her ex-husband. Allegedly, however, their daughters are doing well, and there’s no drama when it comes to their relationships with their parents.

Speaking of her kids, that’s exactly who Kidman spent New Year’s with, as she posted on her Instagram stories:

It would appear that the two people with the Big Little Lies star in this image are her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, who are 17 and 15, respectively, as People reported. They can all be seen wearing fun headbands to celebrate the start of 2026, and it seems like they’re all wearing fun New Year’s outfits too.

To complement the New Year energy, the actress noted that she’s “looking forward” to 2026. That was emphasized by the sweet image and the animated fireworks she added to the post.

This comes not long after Kidman made comments regarding being in her 50s that were about thinking you know where your life is going before realizing it “isn’t going in that direction.” All around, the last year has been a lot personally for Kidman as she navigates her divorce. However, it appears she has a good group around her, with her kids and pals, like Russell Crowe, there to support her.

Now, while there will surely be more headlines about the Moulin Rouge actress’s divorce from the country singer, she has a lot going on professionally that is sure to make waves. She has projects on both the 2026 movie schedule and the 2026 TV schedule, as we’ll get the releases of Practical Magic 2, the show Scarpetta and more (which could include Season 3 of Lioness, seeing as it's in production).

So, yes, I’d say there certainly is a lot to look forward to in 2026 for both Nicole Kidman and all of us. While we’ll likely all face our own trials and tribulations, there’s sure to be some great moments and developments coming too.

As we learn more about Kidman’s personal life, we’ll keep you updated. However, to look toward 2026 with her, make sure to mark your calendars for March 11, because that’s when Scarpetta premieres on Amazon Prime, and September 18, so you're ready for Practical Magic 2. See, as Nicole Kidman said, there's lots to look forward to in 2026.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce was a shock because they’d been married for so long, and now, rumors are spreading about how they’re handling this breakup. Apparently, the actress is leaning on Russell Crowe during what has to be a difficult time, but that’s a rumor you should take with a grain of salt. However, it is worth noting that while this claim might not be true, Kidman and Crowe are definitely good friends.

There’s A Rumor Going Around About How Russell Crowe Is Helping Nicole Kidman Through Her Divorce

As we continue to learn about Kidman and Urban’s divorce, OK Magazine alleged that the actress has been leaning on Russell Crowe for support. According to multiple unidentified sources, the Gladiator actor has apparently been a “sounding board” for his fellow Australian actor. One source claimed that because he’s also been through a divorce (he and his ex-wife Danielle Spencer finalized their split in 2018 and share two kids), he knows exactly what his friend is going through. They claimed:

According to another source who has apparently worked with Crowe, he’s allegedly been speaking with Kidman on a daily basis. Reportedly, he’s been trying to “lift her spirits” and support her through this. They claimed:

In the months since the actress and singer’s split was announced, there have been reports about cryptic things Kidman said that could have alluded to their divorce. There have also been claims made about how it’s hard to navigate this with their daughters, and rumors spread about why this split may not have been “a secret.” Now, these allegations about Crowe can be added to the pile of rumors. However, while they are unconfirmed, it is simply a fact that the two actors really are good friends.

While The Rumors Are Unconfirmed, Russell Crowe And Nicole Kidman Are Definitely Friends

Now, along with being two of the most prominent actors from Down Under working right now, Kidman and Crowe did work together on the 2018 movie Boy Erased. However, their friendship started long before that. In fact, during an interview with Vanity Fair about that movie, she noted that they’ve been friends since they were “teenagers.”

To further prove how tight these two are, last year, when the Lioness star was honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award, the A Beautiful Mind actor shared a tribute for her, saying:

So, while the rumors about him helping her through her divorce aren’t confirmed, their history suggests that he would be there for her.

Meanwhile, while Kidman reportedly looks to Crowe for support, Urban and Jennifer Lopez have apparently been in contact amid the split. So, it would seem that both of them are speaking with people within their respective industries during this hard time.

Now, looking forward and toward things we actually know about, keep an eye on the 2026 movie schedule and the 2026 TV schedule, because both Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman have projects on the way. For Kidman specifically, that includes Practical Magic 2 and Season 3 of Lioness (which was renewed this fall). So, there’s a lot to get excited about from the longtime friends, and if we learn more about said friendship, we’ll keep you posted.

Celebrity couples have a way of capturing the public's attention, from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. The latter is a former pair that's made countless headlines over the years, especially after they got back together and tied the knot in Vegas before eventually splitting up. They're not the only notable break-up in recent months, as Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban also split after years together. And JLo and Urban have reportedly been in contact since the news dropped.

Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August of 2024, and the public has watched as they've continued to coparenting and even attending movie premiers together. The public was shocked when it was revealed that Kidman and Urban were splitting after being married for nearly 19 years. An alleged insider spoke to HeatWorld and explained how JLo has apparently offered some support to her fellow American Idol judge. In their words:

There you have it. It sounds like Lopez allegedly understood what Urban was going through all too well. As someone whose personal life has been a public matter for years, she gets the way that both fans and the media weigh in on celebrity breakups. That includes the rumors that are currently swirling around the Grammy-winning recording artist.

Indeed, there's been a ton of chatter online about what was happening Kidman and Urban behind the scenes, including claims that she was singing about her prior to their split. According to another anonymous insider, Urban has really appreciated the support from Lopez, as they put it:

If these quotes are to be believed, the two recording artists are leaning on each other during their respective breakups. They filmed a number of American Idol seasons together and it seems like that bond has lasted through the years since their time on the show.

We'll just have to wait and see what comes next out of the breakup between Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. In the meantime, the actress has plenty of projects on the 2026 movie release list and beyond.

Kidman’s holiday season didn’t make things easier. Reportedly, she spent Thanksgiving without her youngest daughters after agreeing that Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret would celebrate with Urban. Filing for divorce back in September meant this was her first major holiday navigating a new normal, and sources say the loneliness hit hard. Still, she stayed put in Nashville — a place she built a life in after leaving Los Angeles to be with Urban all those years ago.

Friends allege the Dogville actress was “devastated” and “shocked” by the end of their marriage. She leaned on her inner circle, including her sister Antonia, and recently told Interview magazine she’s “hanging in there.” Anyone who has been through a breakup knows that phrase well.

Urban, meanwhile, seems to be in a very different post-divorce chapter. He’s been on the road with 25-year-old musician Karley Scott Collins for months, and the two have shared a few flirty posts online that have sparked romantic rumors. He also went somewhat viral recently after an awkward exchange with a fan with a triggering first name.

Kidman, for her part, is sticking to the high road. And yes, she did what any wise woman does after a split — she got bangs — but she hasn’t taken a single cheap shot at her ex. She stood by Urban through rehab, reshaped her life to build a home with him, and kept their private struggles private. If she keeps moving with that same quiet grace, she sets the tone for her daughters and gives herself space to heal without extra noise.

As for those inevitable Whole Foods moments? They’re coming. Nashville isn’t huge, and nothing brings emotional turbulence like grocery shopping. But Nicole Kidman doesn’t need to disappear from her routines, her city, or her favorite aisles.

And if there’s any comfort in all this, it’s that Kidman won’t have much time to sit still. Her 2026 movie slate is stacked. Practical Magic 2 is on the way, she’s back as Celeste in Big Little Lies, and she’s leading the thriller Scarpetta with eight new episodes already in the can. It’s clear she’ll be spending far more time on sets than in awkward grocery store face-offs with an ex.

It was reported this past September that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman separated after 19 years of marriage and, shortly after, Kidman officially filed for divorce. As of this writing, neither of the stars have publicly discussed their split or the reason for it. Fans have, however, been analyzing recent comments made by Kidman (58) or Urban (58) to see if they provide insight into their ongoing divorce. Now, some people are of the belief that Urban sang about his relationship with Kidman before their separation became known.

Urban serves as both a judge and performer on CBS’ newest singing competition series, The Road (which is streamable with a Paramount+ subscription). During the latest episode of the show, which aired on November 30, Urban performed the track “Messed Up As Me,” a song from his 2024 album, High. That particular tune tells the story of two people who are engaged in a turbulent relationship. With that, the lyrics convey themes of strife, discomfort, isolation and more. Here’s just a sampling of the lyrics:

As noted by Us Weekly, Keith Urban previously explained that the song is “about two people who know they aren’t good for each other.” Considering the reported state of Urban’s domestic life, it seems viewers believe the country singer was referring to his own situation through his performance. Of course, that’s only an assumption, and we can’t confirm that was Urban’s intention when singing that song on the show, which was recorded before the breakup became public knowledge earlier this fall.

Viewers have also made note of additional comments that the “Somebody Like You” has made on air. For example, weeks ago, he notably joked about pickup lines while speaking to fellow series star Blake Shelton. Still, explicit references to Urban’s romantic status have not been made on air, as of this writing.

Shortly after news of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s divorce broke, it was alleged that the latter was “dreading” the moment the public would find out about it. Although Kidman hasn’t spoken out about the split, it was speculated that she cryptically mentioned it during an interview, at which point she was talking about being in her 50s and having life not pan out as expected. Kidman and Urban also share two daughters – Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (14) – who’ve reportedly been handling their parents' split well.

Given that specific details of Urban’s personal life have not been tackled on The Road and the fact the show isn’t about that, it’s likely that nothing explicit will be mentioned in that regard as time goes on. All the while, the public at large will have to wait and see if either Urban or Kidman decide to get candid about the dissolution of their marriage.

One of the most charming sequels on the way among the 2026 movies is Practical Magic 2 starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock as witch sisters Gilly and Sally Owens. The film will reunite the two leading ladies alongside a lot of new faces. Kidman recently spoke about the experience and why it’s kind of wild how it all came together.

Practical Magic 2 wrapped filming back in September after Kidman first confirmed it was happening the summer prior. During a new conversation with Ariana Grande for Interview Magazine, Nicole Kidman gave this update about making it:

Not every movie set has so many women in them that get to be together and support each other, or get along as well as it sounds like Practical Magic 2 went. Nicole Kidman called the experience “so fun” before also saying this:

The original Practical Magic wasn’t a smash success when it came out. Back in 1998, it was a flop for Warner Bros. on top of being panned by critics (per Vulture). Since then, it’s become a spooky season favorite, and gained a lot more popularity among audiences. Going into its release next fall, we wouldn’t be surprised if the movie starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock is a commercial hit given how big of stars they are.

Previously, Nicole Kidman has talked about how she and Bullock decided to both live in London during the production of Practical Magic 2. The actress said that she adores Bullock, calling her “funny and so lovable.” It was also reported that they’ve become really good friends on this sequel shoot in particular thanks to the “network of support between each other.”

Kidman also has shouted out the director, Suzanne Bier, along with Joey King, who is set to play one of the daughters of Bullock’s character, Sally Owens. We don’t know who else anyone is playing, but Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams is also starring in her first high-profile role in years.

Other names to note are the return of Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as Frances and Jet Owens, the aunts to Sally and Gilly. Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña and Lee Pace are also in the cast as well. The movie is set to be once again written by Akiva Goldsman, along with the addition of Georgia Pritchett.

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters on September 18, 2026 alongside the next Resident Evil. Kidman sounds like she had a blast making it, and we hope that’ll translate in the movie itself.

When news broke that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were ending their nearly 20-year marriage, the natural next question was: How were their two daughters coping with the transition? An insider is giving fans an idea of how the A-lister’s daughters, Sunday and Faith, are handling their parents’ split. Celebrity divorces often ignite a wave of speculation, but early reporting around this one suggests something refreshingly normal.

The former couple’s teens are allegedly adjusting to their “new normal” with minimal turbulence. Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, and while the logistics of any high-profile split can get complicated fast, this one—reportedly—hasn’t. According to People, which spoke with a family insider:

This reported setup echoes what the magazine uncovered in court documents: the former couple has seemingly agreed to a detailed parenting plan. Among the terms, neither parent will speak poorly of the other or their extended families. They also have agreed to encourage their daughters to feel fully at home in both households—a notable point given how often high-conflict divorces can sometimes burden kids with loyalty pressures.

Legally, Kidman is designated the primary residential parent. She’s set to have roughly 306 days with the girls, compared to Urban’s 59. Still, the source stresses that flexibility remains key and that the girls are free to see their father whenever they want. In other words, structure exists, but rigidity does not.

The reporting also aligns with what fans have long observed. Kidman is frequently photographed attending events with her daughters—from fashion shows to concerts—and Urban has always emphasized family even while juggling a touring schedule. Since the divorce filing, the Moulin Rouge! star has been spotted out with the teens, including at a Sabrina Carpenter concert, where the singer jokingly “arrested” the Rabbit Hole actress for being “too hot.” Sunday even shared a text exchange reacting to her mom’s cameo, further suggesting the household has maintained a sense of humor through a major life change.

Meanwhile, the outlet notes that both parents are expected to complete a parenting seminar within 60 days of the filing, a standard step meant to strengthen co-parenting communication and help families manage transitions. For a couple that’s always prioritized privacy and stability, the mandate likely reinforces what they’re already doing.

Of course, some readers may latch onto the unequal day count listed in the documents, but the insider’s reassurance that the girls move freely between both parents without friction hints that numbers on paper may not reflect the full reality. What matters most is the teens feel supported and comfortable amid their parents' split. If the reporting is accurate, that’s what’s happening.

On the professional front, both the Holland star and the country singer are keeping a busy 2025 schedule and beyond. Nicole Kidman is set to reprise her iconic witch role in the upcoming Practical Magic 2, which is slated for the 2026 movie calendar, while Keith Urban continues to tour.

It was in the summer of 2024 that fans of cozy fall movies got some news they’d been hoping to hear for nearly 30 years, when we found out that the not-so-scary witch movie classic, Practical Magic, was finally going to get a sequel. Original stars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, thankfully, signed on to reprise their roles, and now that the movie has finished filming, we’re hearing that the duo have become good buddies because of working on the 2026 movie schedule entry.

How Did Nicole Kidman And Sandra Bullock Reportedly Become Good Friends While Filming Practical Magic 2?

We’ve heard plenty of tales about how the frequently intense process of filming a movie or television show can lead to the cast and crew becoming quite close, and while that didn’t seem to have worked the first time around for Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, their work on Practical Magic 2 is said to have sealed the deal for the Oscar winners.

According to a source who spoke to the National Enquirer, the upcoming book-to-screen adaptation really helped Kidman (who’s been going through a rumor-filled split from her husband of 20 years, Keith Urban) and Bullock bond. The source alleged:

Even without the two supposedly becoming solid friends while filming their new movie, getting such a major endeavor done “under schedule and with a sensible budget” is a pretty big deal on its own. But I think everyone can admit that the idea of the Speed and Babygirl stars now being great friends makes this reunion even cooler.

It was just a few months ago that Kidman opened up about working with Bullock again, and noted that they “were just right back into it” when it came to developing a rapport, adding that the famed talents were “just having the best time together.” The source continued:

Their hair and makeup teams are involved in this?! Look, if two separate glam squads are coordinating then the friendship might be major, OK? And, the source claimed that the stars are now likely in it for the long haul when it comes to being cohorts, especially as they prepare to get the film into theaters next year:

Well, now not only can I not quite wait for the film to come out, but I can’t wait to hear more about how these ladies got along on set. I’m also really ready to see their interviews together and watch them maybe do some witchy method dressing on the red carpet. Let’s go!

Keith Urban and Blake Shelton have hit The Road together to host a new singing competition produced by Taylor Sheridan. Just weeks before the series premiered this month on the 2025 TV schedule, however, news broke that Urban’s 19-year marriage to Nicole Kidman was ending. Knowing that the show was filmed in those final months might give some context to some of “The Fighter” singer’s comments — and it certainly made his and Shelton’s jokes about pickup lines interesting.

In Episode 2 of The Road, which can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription, the musicians visited Dallas, Texas, for two nights in front of a live audience. One contestant, Jenny Tolman, took the stage asking who was there with someone they loved and proceeded to ask them to put their arms around each other. Urban and Shelton dutifully gave each other a big hug before Urban followed the singer’s instructions by telling Shelton:

While The Road hosts were all smiles during the interaction, it’s hard not to be a little sad at the thought that Keith Urban's tank with Nicole Kidman had run out of gas after 20 years. At least he got a good hug out of it.

Another moment later in the show also unwittingly referenced Urban’s soon-to-be-single-again life. The former coach of The Voice and the former American Idol judge had this exchange:

• Blake Shelton: You think it’s a good pickup line? ‘Hey, cowboy, what’s your name?’
• Keith Urban: Well, not from you.

They got a good laugh out of that one, but the reality is that Keith Urban’s now in a place to judge just how effective that line can be.

We’re only two episodes into the CBS competition, and these are not the only instances that raised eyebrows amongst fans amid the four-time Grammy winner’s divorce. In the season premiere, Urban warned the artists of the difficulty of life on the road, saying:

He then took the stage in Fort Worth, Texas, to sing “Straight Line,” a song about escaping a “soul-sucking” life that he apparently wrote about a year before his split from Nicole Kidman, leaving us to wonder what the “dark cloud” was that his song’s narrator was trying to get out from under.

A lot of country music deals with heartbreak and vulnerability, and as Keith Urban proves he’s a force to be reckoned with as a mentor for the budding artists on The Road, I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped other pearls of wisdom and emotion that signals other things going on in his personal life.

Tune in to see what he and Blake Shelton get into next, with new episodes airing at 9 p.m. ET Sundays on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation after 19 years of marriage was first reported in late September and, shortly after, it was confirmed that Kidman filed for divorce. There are still a number of variables that the general public still doesn’t know about the situation, including what exactly led to the stars’ split. All the while, insiders have been dropping claims about how both Kidman (58) and Urban (57) are handling everything. Now, it’s been alleged that the Oscar winner is having a tough time with one specific aspect of the situation.

It’s been alleged that during this time, Urban and Kidman have been taking steps to forge new personal paths for each other. As part of their reported attempts to move forward, Urban allegedly even set up his own place well before the news of the split was revealed. While things are changing for the the two estranged spouses, Kidman is reportedly having a hard time handling the shifting dynamics as they pertain to her and Urban’s two daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (14):

While speaking with Us Weekly, the insider also alleged that although the familial shift is tough for Nicole Kidman, she’s trying to do what she feels is best for her children. They also claim the Being the Ricardos alum is aiming to “focus on creating new traditions with her daughters and keeping their home life as steady and loving as possible.” As for how the girls are handling their parents’ split, that can’t be said with certainty. Kidman’s supposed feelings should be taken with a grain of salt as well.

Since the divorce news broke, many have shared what they believe to be signs that, in hindsight, may have indicated that Kidman and Urban’s marriage wasn’t in firm shape. For instance, months ago, Urban responded awkwardly when Ryan Seacrest brought up Kidman. Not long ago, Kidman also denied the notion of working with her husband on a theoretical movie or TV project.

Nicole Kidman’s divorce filing cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, though that gives no indication as to exactly what initiated the separation. Some sources have alleged that Urban’s past drug usage factored in, with some even making claims about a (since-debunked) “cocaine clause” in their prenup. It was also alleged that Urban had engaged in an affair with his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, though Baugh’s father quickly denied those rumors.

Whatever the reason for the divorce, the previously mentioned source now tells Us Weekly that Nicole Kidman is in a “good headspace and has been very positive” during this time. She’s also reportedly been staying “very busy” with work, and there’s evidence to back up that claim. Just a few months ago, Kidman wrapped on Practical Magic 2 and, just recently, the third season of her show, Lioness, kicked off production. Meanwhile, Keith Urban has also been busy, as he’s been on his High and Alive Tour, during which he had a viral moment with a fan named “Nicole.” Urban has also been working on The Road, a new reality competition series that premiered just recently on CBS.

As both Kidman and Urban continue to work, it’s unclear as to how long it’ll be before their divorce is settled. It should also be mentioned that neither Urban nor Kidman have publicly opened up about how they’re working through the situation along with their daughters.

The news that actress Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban are separating after nearly two decades together has shocked fans. Considering the couple had been through so much, including Urban's drug use and rehab, and seemed happy together when they appeared in public, a lot of people are curious about just what happened.

That curiosity has led some to dig up an old Instagram post that Keith Urban put up nearly two years ago. It’s about a song called “Straight Line,” which would be the first single released from the singer’s most recent album. In the post, Urban describes the song as being about distancing from parts of our lives that we find “soul sucking,” including, curiously, relationships. Urban said in part…

It should be said that, Taylor Swift notwithstanding, not every song a singer writes is supposed to be autobiographical. Just because he sings a song that might suggest that escaping soul sucking relationships is a good idea, doesn’t mean he’s actually in one. What’s more, Urban is only one of four credited songwriters on the piece, so even if there are autobiographical elements in the song, it doesn’t mean they belong to Urban.

While many of Keith Urban's songs were written solely by him, country music in general is a genre in which songwriters thrive. Many of Urban's songs he wasn't involved in writing at all, and in the cases where he was involved, it's difficult to say how big a contributor he was.

“Straight Line” was released nearly two years ago, and at that point, there was little indication that anything was going on between Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. While some have suggested the relationship had been struggling for some time, the pair were still being seen in public together, and there were certainly no outward indications of trouble. Whether the decision to divorce is something that’s been coming or something recent is still far from clear.

While various “insiders” have spoken out on the pair in recent days, all with something to add that helps explain things, as it stands right now, it just appears the couple, who are both quite successful in their own fields, have been moving in different directions for some time. There may not be anything deeper than that going on here.

Interviews will almost certainly be given in the future that will push both Urban and Kidman to talk about their split, and at some point, the rest of the world may get more clarity as to what led them down this road. Maybe Keith Urban will write a song about it, unless of course he did already.

Many people paying attention to celebrity relationship news were surprised when Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced their 19-year marriage had come to an end. Fans began recontextualizing awkward comments from Urban and recalling the issues they were reportedly always working through to see if there were, indeed, hints of trouble in paradise. Those close to the couple would say so, as the breakup allegedly was not much of a secret.

One big clue that the country music star and the Oscar winner were going their separate ways? They weren’t even living together, as Keith Urban had quietly moved out of the family home. An insider told People:

The breakup came just three months after Nicole Kidman posted an Instagram tribute to her husband for their 19th anniversary. The Eyes Wide Shut actress reportedly didn’t want to split up and had been fighting for the marriage, according to sources; however, she was the one who ended up filing paperwork.

She was also allegedly “dreading” news of their separation becoming public, which is understandable, especially because now we can see there were so many signs. Nicole Kidman herself may have referenced the split in an interview she gave weeks before she filed for divorce, as she suggested life in her 50s was going in a different direction than she’d expected.

A few months ago she also firmly shut down the idea of working with Keith Urban on a TV show in the future, musing that “our life is a show.” Meanwhile, a radio host struck a nerve with the country music singer, as they asked Urban what it was like to watch his “beautiful wife” do sex scenes with “beautiful younger men like Zac Efron” in reference to A Family Affair (available with a Netflix subscription). Keith Urban seemingly responded by ending the phone call.

It’s fully understandable that he wouldn’t want to discuss that aspect of his wife’s work (not to mention she had intimate scenes in two other recent projects, Holland and Babygirl), but the abruptness of ending the interview may have been another indication their marriage was on the rocks.

There were also their busy schedules, as they were last seen together in June at a FIFA World Cup match. Keith Urban spent the summer on tour (which came after he proved he was a “force to be reckoned with” filming CBS’ The Road), and Nicole Kidman was filming Practical Magic 2 from July to September. Spending time apart due to work isn’t necessarily a relationship-ender, but it likely doesn’t help if you’re already experiencing problems.

Whatever happened — and however obvious it may have been — both parties seem intent on moving forward now. Nicole Kidman got some breakup bangs and is reportedly refusing to feel regret about the end of her marriage, while Keith Urban had a pretty funny reaction to meeting a fan named Nicole at a recent concert.

Hopefully they’re able to eventually maintain a friendship, for the sake of their two teen daughters if nothing else.

It’s been a few weeks since news broke of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split. In that time, Urban has gone back on the road, providing priceless moments with fans, while Kidman has taken time from her projects on the 2025 movie calendar to provide some iconic fashion moments — even sporting breakup bangs at Paris Fashion Week! There’s allegedly one thing the Oscar winner isn’t doing, though, if a source is to be believed.

According to an insider reportedly “close” to the actress, per Page Six, Nicole Kidman isn’t feeling any regrets over the end of her marriage. She’s reportedly “surrounded by the two things that matter the most to her,” which are “her family and her work.” The insider said:

Nicole Kidman was allegedly “dreading” news of the divorce going public but, now, that it’s out there, she’s reportedly “keeping it positive” and focusing on her and Keith Urban’s two teenage daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. That also includes some “iconic” fashion moves like wearing a T-shirt with her own face on it. The source continued:

It certainly can’t be argued that Nicole Kidman is keeping busy. After big-screen projects like A Family Affair, Babygirl and Holland over the past couple of years, she’s also got a highly anticipated sequel heading to theaters in 2026, as filming on Practical Magic 2 wrapped in September.

That’s not even to mention her television work, with Lioness finally being renewed for Season 3, as well as two big-screen book adaptations reportedly in the works — the crime thriller Scarpetta, based on the Patricia Cornwell series, and another drama from David E. Kelley, Margo's Got Money Troubles, that’s based on a novel by Rufi Thorpe and will be available to stream with an Apple TV subscription next year.

That does seem like quite a bit to keep her distracted from all of the speculation surrounding her and Keith Urban’s breakup. Fans have been combing through past things the former couple has said about each other, including the awkward moment when Ryan Seacrest asked Urban about his wife ahead of the divorce announcement and the way Nicole Kidman shut down the idea of collaborating with Urban on a show.

It’s also hard to overlook what happened when some radio hosts asked Keith Urban about his wife’s steamy on-screen sex scenes.

The couple had been married for 19 years — together for 20 — and it’s unknown what exactly, if anything, was the inciting factor for the split. Fans have brought up Keith Urban’s past struggles with addiction and the alleged “cocaine clause” in their prenup. There have also been mutterings of “flings” he reportedly had during a past relationship and rumors about something going on between him and his guitarist Maggie Baugh (which her father refuted).

Either way, it appears both parties are set on moving forward instead of looking back with regret.
