Ever since leaving The Vampire Diaries in 2015, Nina Dobrev has kept herself busy with streaming movies and shows, like being part of the cast of Netflix’s Love Hard and the platform's The Outlaws. As for the Canadian actress’s personal life, her engagement to Olympic gold medalist Shaun White came to a halt when the two split up in September 2025. After vacation photos with her and single man Zac Efron went viral, an insider drops claims of what’s allegedly going on between the two.

Recently, Zac Efron and Nina Dobrev were shown to be spending a lot of vacation time together. According to US Magazine, photos surfaced of the A-listers attending Brad Garlinghouse's wedding in September. Then last week, Deuxmoi shared photos of the two being all smiles with each other on a yacht. On September 18, the Daily Mail published pics of the two stars swimming off the Italian coastline.

Lately, Zac Efron has been living the bachelor style. His most recent relationship was when he dated Vanessa Valladares in 2020. However, the two broke up a year later, and he’s been single ever since. While it seems like the High School Musical actor has been focusing on his film career with his upcoming A24 movie Famous and filming for his comedy flick Judgment Day, hopefully love will find its way to Efron’s heart soon.

Sources claim that despite the sweet vacation photos of the two, Nina Dobrev and Zac Efron are allegedly just friends. As the actress is reportedly seeking out feel-good moments with friends after her engagement breakup, I’m glad the People’s Choice Award winner is surrounding herself with good company.

The 2025 Emmy nominations have been announced, and plenty of stars and 2025 TV releases are receiving props. While Severance and The Studio are among the nomination leaders, Nobody Wants This (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription) scored three nominations. With that, the show's lead actress, Kristen Bell, received a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. I'm so here for Kristen Bell receiving recognition for her latest show. She’s been on amazing shows that have never won an Emmy, like Veronica Mars and The Good Place. Now, for Nobody Wants This, it looks like the Emmys really want this TV show after it received nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (for Adam Brody) alongside Bell's nod. I can certainly understand Bell wanting to celebrate, but I'm not sure I expected her to do so as she did in Dax Shepard's. Bell also shared it to her Instagram story:

I'm happy about the nomination, but I'm even more impressed by the photo, to be honest. I don’t even have the flexibility to have a form like that. That aside, Kristen Bell is truly lucky to have such a supportive husband to celebrate her achievement. Bell and Shepard have been married since 2013 and share two daughters.

The Parenthood actor has also seen Bell’s Netflix show, and he had a funny reaction to seeing her smooch Adam Brody on screen, calling it “the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.” Their playful honesty and unfailing support for them truly make them one of Hollywood’s cutest couples, in my eyes.

Her performance in Nobody Wants This is a perfect blend of comedic timing and genuine vulnerability. Bell’s character, Joanne, is incredibly relatable in that she's trying really hard to fit into her rabbi boyfriend’s world but is having a tough sell with his family and wondering if she’ll ever truly belong. In short, the Netflix original is an excellent showcase of Bell's talents.

If this is how Kristen Bell celebrates receiving an Emmy nomination, I can't imagine what she'll do if she wins. Of course, I don't think she'd try to perform a handstand on stage while accepting the award. She could pull another playful, nude stunt at home after the fact, though. In any case, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Bell wins!

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will premiere live on September 14 on CBS and will be streamable with a Paramount+ subscription as well. Also, be sure to remain in the know when it comes to Nobody Wants This’ second season, which hits Netflix on October 23rd.

For a while there, vampires were impossible to avoid on the small screen, with some of the most memorable small screen bloodsuckers residing in the town of Mystic Falls. And though The Vampire Diaries hasn’t aired any new episodes since it concluded in 2017, it’s one of the best shows streaming on Max right now, and fans haven’t stopped celebrating the brooding drama’s characters and stars. So when former co-stars Nina Dobrev, Candice King and Kat Graham reunite in real life, it definitely earns attention from the fanbase.

Just such a reunion happened for the Covington, Georgia convention I Was Feeling Festive 2, where Dobrev, King and Graham took pics with fans and shared stories in Q&A panels. Most interestingly perhaps, is that the trio of TVD stars recreated a memorable pic they’d taken together during the early years of the show, and shared the vid on Instagram, as seen below, set to Simple Plan’s 2002 hit “I’m Just a Kid.”

The continued hype for The Vampire Diaries has kept interest building regarding the franchise’s rumored return, although whether that return happens as a revival or a ground-up reboot. Many former stars have weighed in on their feelings about potentially returning, with Nina Dobrev seemingly more interested in other vampire projects over playing Elena again. Kat Graham has expressed her desire not to return to the franchise for any revivals, though Julie Plec stated in the past that the former star would always be welcome.

Co-creator Julie Plec most recently shared her thoughts about revisiting Mystic Falls following the announcement that Twilight is getting an animated series, saying she and Paul Wesley had convos about it. She also addressed the idea of bringing these beloved characters back for a standalone movie as opposed to an episodic series.

There are plenty of sweet celebrity couples that are in the public eye right now, though I’d argue that one particularly lovely pairing is that of Shaun White and Nina Dobrev. Since they linked up in 2020, the two have seemed absolutely inseparable and have had some adorable moments. 36-year-old Olympic snowboarder Shaun White popped the question in New York at the Golden Swan restaurant in late October. White apparently staged the whole event, even working with Vogue to send 36-year-old Nina Dobrev a fake dinner invitation to draw her to the location. When the actress arrived, per People, she was greeted by White, a photographer and beautiful surroundings. And, of course, Dobrev ultimately accepted the proposal (and 5-karat diamond ring), and you can see her reaction in White’s post:

Kudos to the athlete for putting in the work to pull off such a sweet proposal. Based on the photos, it looks like it was a moment that could’ve been ripped out of one of the best rom-coms. It’s hard not to be happy for the couple, and it’s definitely clear that others are sharing in their bliss. Needless to say, there’s a lot of love emanating from the comment section, and you love to see it. Aside from celebrities, fans are also chiming in on the big news, which dropped on Wednesday. One might quickly imagine that the event was surreal, and that’s what the Fam star suggested when she told People about her reaction to her partner’s gesture:

The road to this moment was one that was filled with a number of twists and turns for the couple. Apparently, the relationship began with an ego bruising, as Shaun White and Nina Dobrev visited a restaurant, where the former thought a few people recognized him. However, he was humbled when he discovered that the fans were actually looking to get a picture with Dobrev. The actress herself has also trolled White on a number of occasions, yet she supported him amid his final Olympic run in 2022.

Shaun White, who's addressed engagement talks before, was also by Nina Dobrev’s side following her dangerous dirt bike accident earlier this year. During that time, White shared a sweet photo of his partner, who tore her ACL and meniscus and fractured her knee. In just a few years, these two have seemingly been through thick and thin, solidifying themselves as a firm unit in the process.

As of right now, it’s unclear as to what kind of wedding plans the happy couple have in mind. Considering how early it is, though, they may not have even gotten down to those specifics. Let’s just hope that, whatever happens, the couple is able to proceed with their plans as they would like. Here’s to much happiness to them and continued love from friends, family and fans!

It’s pretty amusing when you find two celebrities who look enough alike that they get confused for each other. Reese Witherspoon and Carrie Underwood, for example, were flattered to find out people think they resemble each other. Hit Man star Glen Powell, meanwhile, has said he gets confused for This Is Us’ Justin Hartley. Some comparisons are just too easy not to make, and that’s been the case for Paul Wesley and Justin Bieber. For years people have noted their similarities, and I love that the running joke continues with Wesley’s former co-stars from The Vampire Diaries. 

Ian Somerhalder Post Reignites Doppelgänger Conversation 

In a recent Instagram post, Ian Somerhalder had everyone drooling over the Salvatore brothers again, when he posted a throwback photo of himself with … Justin Bieber? It was, in fact, the Biebs and not Paul Wesley — who played Damon’s younger brother Stefan on The Vampire Diaries — in the photo, which you can see below: 

By posting that photo, Ian Somerhalder appeared to be referencing Justin Bieber and wife Hailey expecting their first child by referring to them in the caption as “two dads hanging out,” but what makes it so hilarious is how much Bieber resembled a young Paul Wesley back then. In fact, plenty of commenters on the photo actually did think it was Wesley, causing a lot of confusion amongst the fans. 

The Stefan portrayer himself even weighed in, with Paul Wesley writing:

The best part of this to me is that The Vampire Diaries cast is still recalling this running joke that we first became aware of so many years ago.

Nina Dobrev is continuing her recovery following a harrowing E-bike accident last month. The Vampire Diaries star has been updating followers on her recovery, from relaxing to surgery to sweet moments with boyfriend, Shaun White. Many of her TVD co-stars sent love following the accident, and now one of her on-screen beaus, Paul Wesley, is giving an update on her condition. 

TMZ caught up with Wesley at LAX on June 6, as he was headed on a trip with his girlfriend. The Stefan actor shared that his former co-star is “doing better” after her surgery, and the story noted that she's expected to make a full recovery. Dobrev's longtime co-star noted that it sucks that she’s going through this, but he has talked to her since the accident, telling the reporter:

Wesley and Dobrev have remained close since the end of the CW series, even though the two clashed at the beginning of TVD. So it isn’t surprising to hear that he has been in contact with her since her accident and that he is showing as much support as he can. From the looks of Dobrev’s Instagram, she seems to be in good spirits despite the circumstances, proving that she is recovering like a true champ.

Paul Wesley portrayed Stefan Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries for the entire eight-season run, but he thought he would get fired in the show’s early days. It’s a good thing he didn’t because who knows what would have happened with the love triangle between the Salvatore brothers and Elena. There’s also the fact that, as previously mentioned, he, Nina Dobrev and the rest of the cast are still close. It’s hard to tell how the ensemble would have turned out if Wesley, Dobrev, or anyone else wasn’t cast. But luckily, there’s no need to wonder, and even though the show ended years ago, we still get to see the cast supporting each other.

Meanwhile, it’s unknown how Dobrev’s injury will impact her work or how long she’s expected to be out. She is on the mend, which is good news, and she certainly wouldn’t be the first celebrity to work while injured. For example, Jodie Sweetin filmed Fuller House Season 3 with a broken leg. Dobrev is set to star in the upcoming historical thriller series Woman 99, but as of now, it’s unclear what the status of the show is.

For now, Nina Dobrev is focused on recovering and will return to acting when she gets the all-clear from doctors and feels her best to do so. All that really matters is that she is recovering as expected, which, according to Paul Wesley, she is. She may want to stay away from any motorbikes for the time being, however, just to be safe.

Nina Dobrev was unfortunately involved in a fairly serious situation just recently. It was revealed this week that the actress was involved in an apparent motorbike accident, after which she sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Boyfriend Shaun White shared a photo of her after the situation happened, which showed Dobrev resting alongside her and White’s dog. The star herself has now shared her own update on social media, and it’s been met with a multitude of loving reactions from fellow stars. Among them are other members of The Vampire Diaries cast and crew, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sophia Bush. 

The 35-year-old Bulgaria-born star took to Instagram to share an update with her social media followers in the aftermath of her accident. Her post included two photos – one that showed her on the bike before the unfortunate mishap occurred and another of her in a hospital bed sometime later. Seemingly being cheeky, the Degrassi: The Next Generation alum included the caption, “how it started vs how it’s going.” Check out her post down below:

Shaun White’s post showed Nina Dobrev on a plane, wearing a knee brace with that particular leg elevated. She was also without the neck brace that she wore while in the hospital. The actress also shared another selfie from her hospital stint on her Instagram story. Not only that, but she also shared a message, saying, “I'm ok but it's going to be a long road of recovery ahead.” 

It’s unfortunate that the 35-year-old actress has to go through this but, at the very least, she seems to be attempting to remain upbeat amid the circumstance. As so many of us have seen or heard about in the past, actors, producers, directors and more can forge tight bonds with one another. With so many connections, there can come a point where a star finds themself with a village of people ready to be in their corner. Based on the comments under the Love Hard star’s post, I’d say that there are plenty of people who care for her, and you love to see it.

On top of that, kudos to Shaun White for apparently sticking by his lady throughout her bike ordeal. The 37-year-old former Olympic snowboarder began dating Nina Dobrev in 2020, and the two have since been somewhat open about their romance. Funny enough, the athlete recalled the relationship starting off with a bit of ego bruising and, since then, the two have jokingly poked fun at each other. Dobrev even playfully trolled her man with a playful social media post involving their dog. As for whether Dobrev and White will get engaged, the latter said in 2023 that the two of them are just enjoying their time together at this stage.

More immediately though, what’s incredibly important is that Nina Dobrev gets some downtime and is able to recuperate as needed. One would think that she’ll continue to feel the love from her boyfriend, fellow celebrities and fans as she does so.

What I love most about this photo is that it features her dog Maverick, with whom she's trolled her boyfriend in the past. As with most loving dogs, she's squished right up next to her in a position that looks like it could be a tad uncomfortable for Nina Dobrev, but it's clear the Collie/Aussie Shepherd's heart is in the right place. 

Shaun White, who retired from Olympics in 2022 with an emotional sendoff, knows a little something about injuries. Now it's Nina Dobrev's turn to recover. Maybe she could use that time to work on what she doesn't have time for otherwise?. Like, maybe she can convince Steven Spielberg to go with her to return to The Vampire Diaries franchise? 

As for how long she could be away from Hollywood, that's a good question we don't have an answer to at this time. The actress did share the following message to fans on her Instagram Stories, which suggests the road back to 100% health won't be easy: 

It's possible that Nina Dobrev could still work on shows and/or movies, assuming she was filmed from the waist up, or didn't have to walk for the role. Jodie Sweetin was able to do Fuller House Season 3 with a broken leg, though the production pretty much re-wrote much of her story to incorporate it. If there's any producer that needs a talented actress with a leg injury, now might be the time to phone Dobrev. 

For readers curious about what's next for her and Shaun White in their relationship, that's a mystery to the public. White indicated in 2023 that they weren't interested in getting engaged at the moment, as he had only just ended his Olympic career. Could this injury change things for them? I guess we can only wait and see!

As far as what Nina Dobrev has been working on, she was a part of two movies out this year, and one of them is available with a Netflix subscription. The Bricklayer sounds like a solid action flick for those looking for something with the actress in it as she recovers. It’s been over six years since fans said goodbye to The Vampire Diaries and just over a year since the overall franchise officially came to an end with the cancelation of Legacies. Even so, the steamy supernatural teen drama is still quite relevant, thanks to streaming and social media chatter. Speaking of the latter, just last week, fans on X marked a supposed occasion. They commemorated the rumored time when Nina Dobrev and a few others were purportedly arrested for "flashing" way back in 2009. Now, series writer Carina Adly MacKenzie is responding to that rumor and clearing the air.

This new round of hype ramped up after photos of The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev, Kayla Ewell, Sara Canning, and Candice King’s supposed mugshots went viral on the site. Their colleague chimed in to “ruin the fun,” as some have been putting it. For years, many have been led to believe that the four of them, plus Krystal Vayda and photographer Tyler Shields, were arrested in August 2009 after the five actresses were allegedly stopping traffic and reportedly hanging from a bridge and flashing, as TMZ reported way back when.

In a multi-thread on X (formerly known as Twitter) though, Carina Adly MacKenzie -- who served as writer, producer and story editor on TVD spinoff The Originals -- said the girls were just “doing a photoshoot” for a photographer friend on the bridge. In addition, the “flashing” that was reported by drivers was simply a camera flash and misinterpreted by the officer. After the misunderstanding was cleared up, everyone was cleared to go home. MacKenzie also said:

So, after 14 years, it seems the iconic Vampire Diaries arrest has been cleared up. I have to admit, I myself was also under the impression that Nina Dobrev, Candice King, and a few others were arrested for flashing on a bridge before TVD came out. It makes for quite a story, though it's great that falsehoods have been cleared up, of course. Considering series star Paul Wesley was even afraid of being fired for missteps early on, one would think that the stars took care when it came to their off-set activities. On a side note, the photos from the infamous shoot that Carina Adly MacKenzie posted in the thread look great.

At this point, I'd kind of love it if the stars all got back together to recreate the shoot. I mean, even if a formal Vampire Diaries revival isn’t happening any time soon, it'd still be great to see some of the cast reunite in that way. Considering there is a TVD convention in Covington, Georgia, where the series was filmed, via Epic Cons, that could make for the perfect venue. Or at the very least, I'd love to hear the stars talk more about their personal recollections of the camera flashing situation.

The Vampire Diaries ended back in 2017 after an eight-season run, and fans had to say goodbye to Mystic Falls. With the end of Legacies last year, the TVD franchise still has a chance of coming back, according to creator Julie Plec, but it may be a while until that happens. If and when that happens, would Elena Gilbert be one to make a return? Nina Dobrev recently revealed what it would take for her to return to the supernatural drama.

Nina Dobrev starred in six of The Vampire Diaries’ eight seasons, and returned for the finale, but doing the same genre for so long can take a toll on someone, especially if it’s something as grueling as the supernatural. While the actress was doing an interview for Radio Andy, Paul Wesley’s comments about doing another vampire-related project were brought up, and how he said it would be a “hard pass.” For Dobrev, though, said she’s open to it, depending on what project it would be and who would be attached:

It is hard to choose whether to stay away from a specific genre or not, since it really all depends on what projects come to you, so it sounds like Nina Dobrev could be making a return to her vampire roots in the future. If she finds something suitable for her, at least, maybe even with Steven Spielberg. With that in mind, would she even be open to a possible Vampire Diaries reboot in the future? While Paul Wesley clarified his comments with CinemaBlend after mentioning that he would never do another Vampire Diaries, Dobrev is feeling a little different about the possibility:

Considering it has only (and surprisingly) been six years since TVD ended, it is a little early to start thinking about potential reboots, especially since Legacies, the last spin-off, ended in 2022. Since it sounds like Nina Dobrev is still close with a lot of her former co-stars, that may be the closest that fans will get to a reboot or revival for now. The actress is set to appear at a Vampire Diaries convention in December for Epic Cons, which is a rare appearance for her, alongside many of her co-stars, so at least fans will be able to look forward to that, even if it isn’t a reboot.

Meanwhile, Dobrev is still keeping plenty busy post-Vampire Diaries, and that’s aside from her adorable relationship with Shaun White. She is part of the cast of The Out-Laws, and critics have been raving about the Netflix comedy. The film can be streamed with a Netflix subscription, so fans may want to check it out and see why it has been an instant hit. Dobrev also has four other upcoming projects, including the action-thriller The Bricklayer opposite Aaron Eckhart.

Even though a Vampire Diaries reboot may be a bit far-fetched, at least for now, all eight seasons can be streamed with a Max subscription, which is better than nothing. A well placed zinger can make any comedy even funnier, especially when the delivery is flawless. Nina Dobrev got one of those sorts of moments in the new Netflix comedy The Out-Laws, as her impending marriage to Adam Devine leads to some pretty wild hijinks. One of these things required her to recite a line so packed, she practiced it religiously before she filmed it on set. Judging by the content of the line, I can definitely see why.

I understand what Ms. Dobrev went through to a certain extent, as during my interview with her and her Out-Laws co-star, I tried my hand at reciting this very piece of dialogue. Without any spoilers, there’s a moment where Nina’s character, Parker, is dressed in a rather gaudy wedding look. However, the dialogue she used to describe this outfit is the following: 

Just reading that line brings a smile to my face, as it was one of the strongest laughs I got out of my experience with this picture. It wouldn't have happened without Nina Dobrev delivering that gag with the most deadpan expression, without any stops. It's so subtle, yet so effective, that it's possibly one of the best jokes of the entire movie.

It’s a feat that I appreciated so much as a fan of comedy, and it had me wondering how many takes it took to actually stick the landing. While she was on hand to discuss anything and everything about The Out-Laws, which is part of what’s new on Netflix in July, Dobrev revealed her secret to sticking that landing to CinemaBlend as follows:

Practice certainly made perfect in this case, as The Out-Laws cast is full of people like Pierce Brosnan, Ellen Barkin and, of course, Adam Devine, who trades in various flavors of comedy. While most fans may recognize Nina Dobrev for her role on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, her comedy chops are most certainly honed to a tee. Not to mention, the fact that she’s been friends with co-star Devine for over a decade also helped land the romantic part of this rom-com action romp. 

The relationship between Nina’s Parker and Adam’s Owen is believable in all aspects, as it’s not a question of whether or not The Out-Laws’ couple will stick together. If anything, the will they/won’t they aspect falls to the relationship between Owen and Parker’s parents; especially her father Billy. 

That part of the equation lead to some interesting preparation by Adam Devine, as he got to share two kissing scenes with Pierce Brosnan as a result. While these two scenarios aren't exactly on the same level, the laughs banked by both are undeniable testaments to the work done by the movie's central couple.

To really appreciate the preparation that Nina Dobrev and her co-stars did for The Out-Laws, you should make some time to take in the madness that is an entry on the 2023 Netflix movie schedule. The film is currently streaming for all who hold a Netflix subscription, so it’s pretty easy to get caught up with this visit from the folks, zingers and all.

Hollywood has shown audiences a ton of different versions of the “meeting the parents” scenario, with some clear hits and misses along the way. Netflix is hoping that its latest take on the couple's rite of passage in The Out-Laws provides enough of a twist to attract an audience with its new action comedy, available to stream with a Netflix subscription as of July 7. Adam Devine and Nina Dobrev star as the to-be-married duo, and the critics who were able to screen the movie ahead of its release have weighed in with their thoughts about the action rom-com.

In addition to the Workaholics and The Vampire Diaries actors as Owen and Parker, respectively, The Out-Laws also stars Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin as Parker’s parents. All is not as it appears for bank manager Owen when his future in-laws turn out to be criminals nicknamed the “Ghost Bandits,” and his fiancée is kidnapped. Let’s see what the critics have to say about the Netflix romp, starting with Collider’s Tania Hussain. She grades the movie a C-, but admits it’s often laugh-out-loud funny, saying: 

Murtada Elfadl of Variety points to films with similar plotlines, like Meet the Parents and Fun with Dick and Jane, as examples of why The Out-Laws could have been funnier. However, the critic says the screenplay resorts to juvenile humor targeting the lowest common denominator. Elfadi continues: 

If The Out-Laws fails in the eyes of the critics, however, it’s possibly not for lack of trying. Noel Murray of the L.A. Times finds its raunchiness and action sequences “a bit too much,” explaining: 

Pete Hammond of Deadline says audiences willing to settle for sheer mayhem will be engaged, but the Netflix film fails to deliver the fun and heart the stacked cast is capable of. Hammond writes: 

David Ehrlich of IndieWire gives The Out-Laws the grade of C, calling the action comedy “passable,” with Ellen Barkin and Pierce Brosnan being better than they needed to be for the movie with what the critic calls a “first-drafty” feel. Ehrlich continues: 

With a Rotten Tomatoes critics rating of just 26%, this “meet the parents” action comedy may not be getting off to the strongest start. But despite any issues people have with the script, many who have seen the movie found things to enjoy in the performances and with some raunchy chuckle-worthy humor.

Adam DeVine (Owen) 

First up is Adam DeVine, who appears in The Out-Laws as Owen, a bank manager whose future in-laws are believed to be a pair of criminals named the “Ghost Bandits.”

Best known for his portrayal of Adam DeKamp on the Comedy Central series, Workaholics, DeVine has also had a major role in the Pitch Perfect movies (as well as the Peacock spinoff series, Bumper in Berlin). His film credits include everything from Nancy Meyers’ The Intern to Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedilics, and so much more. 

Nina Dobrev (Parker)

Nina Dobrev appears as Owen’s fiancée, Parker, who ends up being held hostage after one of her parents’ latest scores ticks off the wrong person.

Dobrev has been a well-known name in the world of TV for the past couple of decades thanks to roles on shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Vampire Diaries, on which she played not one, but two different characters throughout the series’ run. Over the years, the actress has also appeared in movies like XXX: Return of Xander Cage, The Perks of Being a Wallflower adaptation, Chloe, and a couple dozen others. 

Pierce Brosnan (Billy McDermott) 

Next up is Pierce Brosnan, who plays Parker’s bank-robbing dad, Billy McDermott.

Though instantly recognizable from his four James Bond movies (a role that is addressed in The Out-Laws trailer), Brosnan has a ton of other credits that would have made a great career even without having 007 tied to his name. Shows like Remington Steele, movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crown Affair, and the Mamma Mia! musicals, all quickly come to mind. The actor has even appeared in several 007 video games throughout his career, including 2004’s James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, which featured his voice in addition to his likeness. 

Ellen Barkin (Lilly McDermott) 

Ellen Barkin shows up in The Out-Laws as Lilly McDermott, Owen’s soon-to-be mother-in-law and an accomplished bank robber.

Over the years, Barkin has made a name for herself on the big screen, on a number of TV shows, and in Broadway performances like the one in The Normal Heart, for which she earned a Tony Award. If you’re a fan of movies like Drop Dead Gorgeous, Ocean’s Thirteen, and even The Big Easy, then you more than likely recognized the actress. The same can be said about shows like The New Normal, Animal Kingdom, and the Peacock original series, Poker Face. 

Michael Rooker (FBI Agent Roger Oldham)

Michael Rooker portrays Roger Oldham, an FBI agent hot on the trail of the Ghost Bandits and their latest escapades.

From his appearances in some of the best Marvel movies to his time in The Walking Dead cast, there are a lot of reasons why Rooker looks so familiar. One of the best and most prolific character actors of our time, the frequent James Gunn collaborator has done a little bit of everything over the years, including classics like JFK, Eight Men Out, and even Cliffhanger, to name only a few. Seriously, he’s done it all. 

Richard Kind (Neil) 

Richard Kind is another prolific actor appearing in the film, where he can be seen playing Owen’s father, Neil.

Fans of Pixar movies like Inside Out, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 3, and various other animated classics will more than likely recognize Kind’s voice as soon as he comes on screen in the new Netflix movie. The same can be said about those who have long watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, Spin City, and even some of the best episodes of Scrubs. There’s a chance that everyone reading this has seen or heard Kind over the years. 

Julie Hagerty (Margie)

Julie Hagerty appears in The Out-Laws as Owen’s mom, Margie.

If you’re a fan of classic parody movies, then you’ll surely remember Hagerty from her portrayal of Elaine Dickinson in Airplane! and its 1982 sequel. Over the years, Hagerty has popped up in movies like What About Bob?, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Instant Family, and most recently, A Christmas Story Christmas. 

Lil Rel Howery (Tyree) 

Next up is Lil Rel Howery, who shows up as Tyree, one of Owen’s co-workers at the bank.

Over the course of the past decade, Howery has become one of the most recognizable faces in comedy thanks to scene-stealing performances in movies like Get Out, Uncle Drew, and even Bird Box. The actor and comedian has also had a successful TV career as well, with roles on series like The Carmichael Show, Insecure, Craig of the Creek, and in his own short-lived sitcom titled Rel. 

Poorna Jagannathan (Rehan)

Poorna Jagannathan takes on the role of Rehan, a dangerous criminal who takes Parker hostage after her parents’ latest bank robbery.

Fans of another Netflix original, Never Have I Ever, will surely recognize Jagannathan from her portrayal of Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar, but she has a ton of other credits to her name. Over the years, she has appeared on shows like Ramy, Gypsy, The Night Of, House of Cards, Royal Pains, and multiple others. As far as her film credits are concerned, the actress has been in movies like The Weather Man, The Circle, and Share. She’s also slated to appear in the upcoming adaptation of Turtles All the Way Down. 

Lauren Lapkus (Phoebe)

Lauren Lapkus plays Phoebe, another manager at Owen’s bank.

Lapkus has appeared in a number of Netflix productions throughout her career, including the 2020 romantic comedy, The Wrong Missy, and one of the streamer’s first original shows, Orange is the New Black. Over the years, she has also landed roles in movies like Happiest Season, Opening Night, and Jurassic World. 

Laci Mosley (Marisol)

Next up is Laci Mosley, who appears in The Out-Laws as Marisol, an employee at Owen’s bank.

If you are a fan of A Black Lady Sketch Show, the Paramount+ original series iCarly, or Lopez vs Lopez, then you should definitely recognize her. Over the years, Mosley has also made small appearances on everything from Insecure to Kenan and Better Call Saul to Sherman’s Showcase. 

Blake Anderson (RJ)

And then there is Blake Anderson, who appears as Owen’s cousin, RJ.

Over the years, Anderson has worked with his The Out-Laws co-star Adam DeVine a number of times, with their biggest collaboration being the long-running Workaholics, which they co-created more than a decade ago. Anderson was also a major part of the 2018 Netflix movie, Game Over, Man! alongside DeVine and their longtime collaborator, Anders Holm.

Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have been quite the globetrotters lately. After the Olympic snowboarder took his final run and retired from the sport, he and The Vampire Diaries alum decided to travel the world. Now that they’re back in the States, he’s being asked if they will be taking the next step in their relationship. Considering the two have been publicly together since the spring of 2020, it makes sense that the gold medalist might be considering popping the question, and now he’s weighing in on the possibility. 

White was asked about his travel and life partner while he was in the deserts of California for Coachella. People caught up with the snowboarder, and asked him about the possibility of an engagement, he responded by saying they’re simply living their best lives right now, and not putting pressure on the future, explaining: 

So, it seems like right now, the idea of nuptials is not in the couple’s immediate future. For now, they’re in a state of wanderlust, traveling to places like Indonesia, Antarctica, Mexico, and of course, the mountains to get some turns in. Lucky for us all their travels have been documented on White’s Instagram:

However, while an engagement might not be in the cards at the moment, it’s not out of the question, as White teased:

I can already picture the wedding! These two seem like such a fun couple, and after what would likely be an epic engagement, I’m positive they’d have a beautiful ceremony and a rager of a reception. 

We got a little preview into how White and Dobrev bring the party at a wedding as they attended their pals Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams’ long-awaited ceremony. The two appeared to have a blast, and they looked as adorable as ever while celebrating their long-time friends.  

We’ll just have to wait and see if Shaun White and Nina Dobrev get engaged, although it seems inevitable that they’ll eventually say “I do.” Since they so clearly both support each other -- as the actress did while her boyfriend competed in the Olympics -- and troll one another -- as the Love Hard star did with her dog -- they are a solid and silly couple. In the end, whether they get married or not, I just hope the two keep this kind of energy alive.

Gorgeous, elegant photos of Modern Family star Sarah Hyland’s wedding have been floating around the internet since the ceremony happened, but Nina Dobrev posted something a bit more candid. Using the song “Super Freaky Girl” by Niki Minaj, Dobrev posted a video showing her boyfriend Shaun White and other celebrity friends strutting their stuff and partying over the course of the weekend. 

The reel shows Dobrev with White, as well as friends Vanessa Hudgens, Kayla Ewell, Tanner Novlan, and Chord Overstreet. She cut together clips of Hyland and Adams walking into the reception, Hudgens posing in a gorgeous silk dress, everyone singing together on a party bus, a clip of herself frolicking through a vineyard and more — the fact that this isn’t everything in the video (which you can watch in the whole Instagram post below) makes me think this was an epic wedding. 

Adams and Hyland’s wedding not only reunited the Modern Family cast but also brought together a conglomerate of people that is something of a millennial's nostalgic dreams (as someone who teeters on the border of millennial and Gen Z I can confirm this is a dream). Dobrev, of Vampire Diaries fame, Hudgens, the High School Musical icon and Netflix Christmas movie queen, along with White, who has been a mainstay of the Winter Olympics since the early 2000s, had me gushing over the fun-filled video. 

Dobrev and White are one of the most talked-about couples at the moment. From Dobrev supporting White during his final Olympics last winter to her trolling White with her dog the two are always up to something fun and clearly have a good sense of humor. The two have traveled the world this summer from Monaco to France and are now back in Southern California to celebrate their friends’ wedding.  

Wells Adams and Hylands’ wedding has been a long time coming, so long Hyland said she wouldn’t have minded eloping. The pair got engaged in 2019 and have joked throughout the last three years that it would eventually happen, and it seems like to both the guests and those taking it in on social media they made the wait worth it. 

Over the course of their engagement, Adams took over as the bartender on ABC’s Bachelor In Paradise. For the past three seasons, he has provided alcohol and advice to those trying to find love from the beachside bungalow in Mexico. Some of the contestants from the franchise even made an appearance at the wedding like Nick Viall, who despite his best efforts is still single, the 20th Bachelor Ben Higgins and Joe Amabile, who ended up with Serena Pitt in the last season of Paradise, and they’re still together.

Along with Dobrev, White and Hudgens, other celebs that had me feeling all nostalgic were Disney Channel star of yesteryear Debby Ryan and former Glee star Chord Overstreet. 

What is more fun than watching Adams console lost souls on the beaches of Paradise and Hyland hosting the chaos that is Peacock’s U.S. version of Love Island (which, FYI, can be watched with a Peacock premium subscription)? Watching the two of them finally get married in front of all their friends. 

Nina Dobrev is once again showing some love for her boyfriend, Shaun White, albeit in a joking manner. The Vampire Diaries star took to TikTok recently to hilariously troll the Olympic snowboarder and did so using her dog. And honestly, it just makes me even more envious of their relationship.

Nina Dobrev has been dating the Olympian since 2019 so, by now, they're at the point in their relationship in which they can joke about almost anything. And what Dobrev just did really takes the cake. In a new TikTok post, the actress hopped on the popular trend that sees a person show who their childhood crush was before sharing who they ended up with. And in the clip, White humorously doesn't make the cut when it comes to the latter category:

I mean, don't get me wrong. The snowboarder is cute (as is Brad Pitt), but how can you not love that adorable-looking dog? This is a great post and just another piece of evidence that shows how the two are always joking around. This was proven in a recent TikTok from the athlete, which saw him offer his girlfriend some tongue.

While it’s been all fun and games for the couple as of late, earlier this year, Shaun White admitted that the relationship started with some ego bruising. He wasn’t exactly aware of The Vampire Diaries when he and Nina Dobrev started dating and, as a result, didn't know how big it was. In one instance, while they were at a restaurant, Dobrev used her star power to get them a table. Ultimately, White found that to be “pretty funny.” 

Aside from that, Nina Dobrev has obviously shown love for her boyfriend without trolling him. Following Shaun White’s historic final Olympics run earlier this year, Dobrev shared her support for White, and it was all kinds of adorable. She was in Beijing with her beau throughout the winter games, which is a testament to her devotion.

The Degrassi: The Next Generation vet has been keeping herself busy as of late with acting gigs. In late 2021, she led the cast of the Netflix movie Love Hard. Not long after that, she starred in Redeeming Love, which received less-than-favorable reviews from critics. She also has other upcoming projects in Reunion, Out-Laws and Sick Girl.

It's just so wonderful to see Nina Dobrev happy and thriving alongside Shaun White. She previously admitted that landing Elena Gilbert on TVD doomed her romantic relationship at the time. I don't imagine that she'll be running into any problems related to the show at this point, though. The only thing that could possibly stand between her and White now is her dog.

But we're not talking about Ian Somerhalder in this case, as the actress recently talked about the romantic relationship she was in at the time she landed the Elena Gilbert role, and how it clearly wasn't meant to be.

Nina Dobrev was the latest guest on the iHeart Radio podcast XOXO with Jessica Szohr, whose host is a fellow CW vet for her time on Gossip Girl. The actresses chatted about their time on the network, Dobrev’s upcoming projects, their lifelong friendship, and of course, The Vampire Diaries. When the topic of auditions came up, Szohr asked about Dobrev going through chemistry reads when it came to the difficult process of casting the supernatural drama's male leads. Dobrev discussed meeting with potential Damons and Stefans, and explained how her boyfriend at the time even auditioned for Damon, but he was no Ian Somerhalder:

Even though auditioning with one's significant other might seem pretty great in theory, it doesn't take much imagination to consider how things might get really awkward if one got the part and the other one didn’t. Nina Dobrev didn’t open up about whether she and the ex still got along after that break-up, but it’s safe to assume even that friendship could have been awkward city. Despite any heartache at the time, it all worked out for Dobrev in the end, as she went on to lead one of the most popular shows on The CW.

Despite the fact that Nina Dobrev’s boyfriend at the time didn’t get cast, fans probably aren't filled with regrets about it. Damon Salvatore didn’t have the greatest rep, though viewers still love and adore him to this day, and Ian Somerhalder admitted in 2021 that the fans’ love for the toxic vampire caused problems early on in the show, since he was supposed to be a key villain. Hard to tell if that would have been the case with another actor in the role, but there's no real need to wonder, considering how things played out.

One of the most beloved elements within The Vampire Diaries is the character relationships, whether it’d be Delena, Stelena, or even the “totally f-ed up” couple Klaroline. With the TVD Universe done for now following the end of Legacies, it may be a while until we’re reunited with our favorite couplings once again. 

Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev is plenty happy now with current beau Shaun White. The two have been dating since 2019, and although it started with a bit of ego-bruising for White when he belatedly realized how famous Dobrev was, it has seemingly been nothing but happy memories. She even shared some kind words to her boyfriend following his final Olympics run earlier this year, and it was enough to make anyone emotional.

Despite the Vampire Diaries franchise coming to an end with the potentially deadly series finale of Legacies, it's no surprise that some former co-stars have remained in contact over the years. Such as it goes for Kayla Ewell, who portrayed Vicki Donavan throughout most of TVD's seasons in one capacity or another. The actress recently gave birth to a baby boy seven weeks ahead of schedule, and Elena Gilbert herself, Nina Dobrev, was quick to offer some congratulatory words, along with former vampire slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar and more!

Kayla Ewell has not been shy about sharing her pregnancy journey with her Instagram followers. Three months prior to giving birth, she broke the news with an announcement of her pregnancy, and she has since been showing off her baby bump, excited to bring another little one into the world. Over the weekend, the actress shared that her baby boy came into the world a full seven weeks early, but luckily for all involved, they're both happy and healthy, and she and her husband “couldn’t be more excited.”

Fans and famous friends were quick to congratulate Ewell on her bundle of joy. Her TVD co-star couldn’t help but comment on the baby’s features before including a secondary post with several smiling-face-with-hearts emojis.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared her excitement while putting it out there that she is ready to lend her babysitting talents whenever Kayla Ewell needs them. Considering how cute her son looks by just his wittle-bitty, teensy-weensy hand, I would also want to do the same thing. Here's how Gellar put it, sounding somewhat like a pirate:

The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing mark all kinds of milestones for snowboarder Shaun “Carrot Top” White. It’s his fifth stint as an official representative of the United States in the sport, 20 years altogether. But it’s also his last time doing so because the three-time gold medalist is retiring for good. White had his final Olympic run last night, and his girlfriend Nina Dobrev’s support amidst the emotional endeavor is all kinds of adorable.

Following his final halfpipe Olympic snowboarding run, Shaun White wept openly as he delivered a heartfelt message live on NBC. He thanked his American compatriots and called snowboarding the love of his life. (No, I’m not crying, you’re crying.) The other love of his life, actress Nina Dobrev, shared on her Instagram stories how proud she was of him in the moment, including a snap of her smooching his life-size cardboard cut-out. See here:

The Vampire Diaries-turned period piece star has been in Beijing with her beau since the onstart of the Winter Olympics, posting a bevy of sweet pics and loving words of support on the Gram in tandem. Ahead of his final course run, Nina Dobrev even wrote in one post that she had “already won the gold” by being with him. Awwwww! Unfortunately, White wouldn’t officially place in his last competition, coming in at fourth, but Dobrev was celebrating him all the same. Check out her next pic from the emotional night below:

It's their casual couple photo together on the slopes, though, that’s really making me want to scream, “Relationship goals!” The Love Hard cast member captioned the snap with a gauge of how much she truly loves her boyfriend:

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have been dating since 2020, and from the looks of these Olympic outtakes, it’s gotten very serious between the two of them. The gold medalist snowboarding extraordinaire shared recently that their relationship in fact started with an ego bruising on his part. (For the unaware, Dobrev is pretty well-known herself in her own Olympic arena of acting.) To many, she's known for her role on The CW's The Vampire Diaries, and for her frequent reunions with her castmates. However, she’ll actually soon start filming an action-thriller called The Bricklayer, alongside Aaron Eckhart. But in the meantime, she's sending off her partner with flying colors, writing in her last Instagram post:

A lot has been said elsewhere to honor Shaun White’s legacy in snowboarding. Namely, how he put the sport on the map over the years, how he represented his country with dignity and so on and so forth… Yet, really, none could apparently say it better than Nina Dobrev. White might no longer be competing, but fans can still tune into NBC or streaming platforms for other competitors.

Olympic snowboarder Shaun White and The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev have been dating since 2019 after meeting at an event where they both presented. White revealed how their relationship started off and it was with a bit of an ego bruising that could have definitely left some marks on his gold medals.

Ahead of Shaun White’s return to the Winter Olympics, he talked with People about his relationship with Nina Dobrev. White noted that they met at a seminar, invited by Tony Robbins to speak. He loved that he and Dobrev were somewhat similar in the sense that they’re around the same age and have done a lot in their careers. He also admitted that he actually didn’t know anything about the TVD star, so the two of them went out to eat at a packed restaurant and that is when things took a bit of a turn:

It sounds like the hilarious moment didn’t faze the Olympian, as he and Dobrev have been together for years now, and both have achieved fame in their own different ways. I will say that if I ever saw them out, I would have definitely wanted a photo with the both of them. Between a legendary medalist and the star of a hit supernatural series, Dobrev and White are definitely a power couple with devoted fanbases.

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White are not shy when it comes to showing off their relationship. The couple is frequently together in social media posts and Dobrev even shared her snowboarding skills recently on Instagram. With White now in Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, Dobrev will likely be showing her support.

While White has been preparing for the Olympics, Dobrev has been plenty busy with new projects. The TVD alum recently starred in Netflix’s rom-com Love Hard and the cast, including Dobrev, were quick to want a sequel. She also starred in Redeeming Love, adapted from the book of the same name by Francine Rivers. Dobrev currently has three upcoming movies.

As for Shaun White, he may become even more of a legend in his field as a snowboarder as the 2022 Winter Olympics start up. The event will take place Feb. 4-Feb. 20, putting much of television on hiatus as the games go on. This will be White’s fifth time in the Olympics, and likely his last, so he will hopefully go out with a bang and possibly even another gold medal. It’s funny to know how Shaun White and Nina Dobrev’s relationship started off, but it looks like neither of them cared and find it hilarious. Fingers crossed that they stay together for a while, because they can keep each other grounded and bruise some egos while they’re at it. It always intrigues me why certain types of movies and TV are popular in certain moments of our lives and straight up not our thing in other times. Obviously, right now we’re seeing the continued reign of the superhero movie with releases such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, which broke so many box office records. Horror movies have also proven popular once again, most recently with Scream’s well-received resurgence. And then there’s the rise of period romances, which continues with the release of Redeeming Love. 

Redeeming Love is just one film among a larger interest from audiences for period romances, such as Netflix’s streaming phenomenon Bridgerton and the onslaught of book-to-movie adaptations, especially for Jane Austen as of late, including the upcoming remake of Persuasion with Dakota Johnson. When CinemaBlend spoke to the cast of Redeeming Love about this current trend, they had blunt thoughts as to why corsets are all the rage in Hollywood again. Here’s what Eric Dane told us: 

This is true, and not only in a sense of romances, but across all genres. We recently went back to franchises such as Ghostbusters and Space Jam, among many others. Famke Janssen, who also stars in Redeeming Love, said this: 

Along with speaking about the trend of romances these days, Famke Janssen also spoke to us about how her most famous role as Jean Grey in X-Men was part of setting the tone for the current age of superhero films. Back to period romances! Here are Nina Dobrev’s thoughts: 

It’s true. These days people are not necessarily always finding love in the typical and cinematic ways. Oftentimes it starts with a swipe of the phone in the right direction, and even so, with social media there’s a perception that there’s more options for people to meet their person than back in the day. Abigail Cowen, who plays the lead in Redeeming Love, also got candid with her answer: 

Well this makes a lot of sense. A few years ago, rom-coms were becoming more popular again, perhaps in an effort to bring back the kind of optimism and escapism the genre is beloved for. Now there’s a bit of a natural progression into period romances because it leans into nostalgia and escapism even further. There’s certainly more where that came from! With Redeeming Love, director D.J. Caruso tackles the emotional romance portrayed in the 1991 Francine Rivers best-seller of the same name, bringing the book’s California Gold Rush-era tale to the big screen. The sweeping romance gives a Western-style makeover to the biblical book of Hosea, on which the story is loosely based. Critics have had a chance to review the film before it hits theaters January 21, so let’s take a look at what they thought of this romantic drama.

Redeeming Love stars Abigail Cowen as Angel, who was sold into prostitution as a child, and Tom Lewis as Michael Hosea, who falls in love at first sight with Angel as an adult, vowing to give her the life she deserves. Angel’s past continues to haunt her, however, against the backdrop of 1850s California. The film also stars Logan Marshall-Green, Famke Janssen, Nina Dobrev and Eric Dane. Let’s see what the reviews have to say. 

Starting with our own CinemaBlend review, Sarah El-Mahmoud gives Redeeming Love 1.5 stars out of 5, saying the main characters lack chemistry — through no fault of Abigail Cowen and Tom Lewis.  The film adaptation has no charm and is missing passion, leaving its characters feeling one-dimensional, despite the talented cast. 

Nicole Ackman of Next Best Picture struggles to understand the movie’s genre and intended audience, as the Christian historical romance about a prostitute deals with subject matter that isn’t easy to watch. She rates it 2 out of 10.  

The fact that Redeeming Love is biblically based while trying to be explicit is noted by Robert Kojder of Flickering Myth, who rates the film 1 star. He says, similarly to other critics, that the film fails to develop its lead characters. 

Joseph Aberl of Murphy’s Multiverse, however, thinks the seemingly bizarre genre-mashing makes for an unexpectedly dark spin on a classic romance.  

Tessa Smith of Mama’s Geeky gives Redeeming Love 3 out of 5 stars, noting that even though the story is based on the Book of Hosea, it can still be enjoyed by non-religious viewers like herself. However, the movie overall could have used a bit more editing, Smith says, as a run time of over two hours isn’t needed to tell its story. 

The critics seem mixed on this one, with some saying Redeeming Love gives a unique perspective on unconditional love, while others think it didn’t do enough to properly adapt the best-selling novel it’s based on. Love Hard is Netflix’s latest romantic holiday movie. Netflix has been giving holiday romantic movie giants like The Hallmark Channel and Lifetime some major competition. The Princess Switch film series, the A Christmas Prince movies, and other original Netflix Christmas movies have received a lot of buzz and high viewership. Now it’s become a Netflix tradition for a fresh batch of Christmas movies to premiere every holiday season. Netflix kicks off the holiday 2021 Netflix movies with Love Hard. The Love Hard cast includes Nina Dobrev and Darren Barnet, so you know it’s a must-watch.

If Love Hard does well enough, perhaps we'll see a sequel sometime next year, and if so, the Love Hard cast may be back. Here’s where you may have seen the Love Hard cast before.

Nina Dobrev (Natalie Bauer)

Nina Dobrev plays leading lady Natalie Bauer in Love Hard. She travels cross country to meet her online love interest. Her romantic fantasy gets crushed when she discovers that he’s not the man she thought he was, literally. Most will instantly recognize Dobrev for playing Elena Gilbert and all her doppelgangers on The Vampire Diaries. She was part of The Vampire Diaries cast from 2009 to 2015, and then made a return for The Vampire Diaries series finale. 

OG Nina Dobrev fans will first remember her from playing Mia Jones on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Dobrev also reprised her role as Elena for The Originals. She also appeared on the series Robot Chicken and Workaholics. She briefly played the lead on the now-canceled CBS series Fam. Nina Dobrev also appeared in the films The Poet, Chloe, The Roommate, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Final Girls, Flatliners, Then Came You, and XXX: Return of Xander Cage. 

Jimmy O. Yang (Josh Lin)

Jimmy O. Yang plays Josh, the man who catfished Natalie into believing that he looked a little different than how he appeared on a dating app profile. Most may recognize Yang for playing the extremely annoying Jian-Yang on Silicon Valley.  He also had guest roles on the series Battle Creek, Those Who Can’t, Broken, Drunk History, Fresh Off the Boat, and Space Force.

Yang also appeared on episodes of 2 Broke Girls, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, New Girl, Criminal Minds, and Another Period. He had roles in the films Patriots Day, Life of the Party, The Happytime Murders, Fantasy Island, The Opening Act, and Crazy Rich Asians.

Darren Barnet (Tag) 

Darren Barnet plays Tag, the face behind Josh’s profile pictures. Natalie discovers that he lives not too far from the real Josh and sets out to make her dream romance real. Darren Barnet has been making girls, women, and men choose between team Paxton or team Ben ever since he made his debut in Never Have I Ever. On Never Have I Ever, he plays Paxton Hall-Yoshida, one of the objects of Devi's (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) teen fantasies. 

Barnet has also appeared on the TV shows This is Us, Criminal Minds, S.W.A.T, Family Reunion, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and as a lead in the Facebook Watch series Turnt. Darren Barnet also played the male lead Grant in American-Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules. He also appeared in the film Untitled Horror Movie.

Harry Shum Jr. (Owen Lin)

Harry Shum Jr. plays Owen, a member of Josh’s family. Shum Jr. spent years busting a move as Mike Chang on Glee. He eventually stepped out of the background and played more of a major role in later seasons. He then played Magnus Bane on Shadowhunters and became one-half of the TV show’s most popular romantic pairings.  Shum Jr. also appeared in the TV shows Tell Me a Story, Awkwafina is Nora from Queens, Greek, and iCarly. 

Harry Shum Jr. also appeared in the movies Step Up 2: The Streets, Our Family Wedding, Step Up 3D, White Frog, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, Crazy Rich Asians, Broadcast Signal Intrusion, and All My Life. 

James Saito (Bob Lin)

James Saito plays Bob Lin, another member of Josh’s family. Saito has been making movies and TV shows since the 1970s and 1980s, and he has appeared in such popular movies as Die Hard with a Vengeance, The Devil’s Advocate, The Thomas Crown Affair, Pearl Harbor, Life of Pi,  Big Eyes, While We’re Young, and Always Be My Maybe. He also voiced The Shredder in the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. 

Saito appeared in M*A*S*H, Eli Stone, One Life to Live, Altered Carbon, and Dash & Lily. He also appeared in episodes of The Incredible Hulk, Knots Landing, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Young and the Restless, Law & Order, Blue Bloods,  House of Cards, Marvel’s Iron Fist, Elementary,  Modern Love, Prodigal Son, and Grey’s Anatomy. 

Mikaela Hoover (Chelsea)

Mikaela Hoover plays Chelsea in Love Hard. Hoover is no stranger to holiday romance movies, as she played Annie in Holidate. The Netflix film starred Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey as two singles who decide to become “holidate” buddies at every upcoming holiday to avoid family judgment.  Hoover played Madison Westerbrook on the web series Sorority Forever.

She appeared in the television series How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings, Anger Management, Two and a Half Men, 2 Broke Girls, and Lucifer. Mikaela Hoover also appeared in the movies Airplane Mode, The Belko Experiment, Guardians of the Galaxy, Super, and The Suicide Squad.

Heather McMahan (Kerry)

Heather McMahan plays Kerry, Natalie’s good friend. McMahan is best known for being a comedian with a regular gig on Today and a podcast called Absolutely Not. Those who follow her on social media are quite familiar with McMahan and her comedy tours. However, she’s fairly new to the screen acting world. 

Heather McMahan has appeared in the TV shows and movies Merry Ex-Mas, If Loving You Is Wrong, Family, The Trap, Zoe Ever After, and Bride to Maybe. Love Hard appears to be one of her first major film roles.

Althea Kaye (Grandma June Lin)

Althea Kaye plays Grandma June Lin, the head of the Lin family, in Love Hard. She’s not afraid to say whatever is on her mind, and she often provides the comic relief of Love Hard. She’s also very curious about dating apps, so much so that she makes it her mission to understand them. 

As far as Althea Kaye's previous roles, she may be new to the screen acting world, as there are only a few credits listed on her IMDB page. Her recent appearances include two episodes of CW's Kung Fu and three episodes of Freeform's Motherland: Fort Salem. 

Rebecca Staab (Barb Lin)

Rebecca Staab plays Barb. Staab is best known for playing Elizabeth Barrington in the early 2000s on Port Charles. She played Colleen on Somewhere Between. Rebecca Staab also appeared in the movies The Marrying Man, Love Potion No. 9, and Breakthrough.

She appeared in episodes of Glee, Criminal Minds, The Mentalist, The Young and the Restless, NCIS, Nip/Tuck, and The Drew Carey Show. Rebecca Staab is a Hallmark movie regular, so she has appeared in many Hallmark movies, including The Irresistible Blueberry Farm, A Christmas Miracle, and Mingle All the Way. She also played Eileen Bruce in Hallmark’s original film series Chronicle Mysteries. 

Matty Finochio (Lee)

Matty Finochio plays Lee in Love Hard. Finochio has appeared in over 90 TV and movie projects, starting back to the mid-2000s. He appeared in the TV shows The L Word, Sanctuary, Supernatural, Workaholics, Lucifer, and The Flash. Matty Finochio played Tweedle #1 in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Professor Cameron Foley in The Order, Bobby Hart in Day of the Dead, Alan in Date My Dad, and Teddy in A Million Little Things. 

Finochio is also a holiday movie regular, appearing in Jingle Bell Bride, Holiday Date, Season’s Greetings, Jingle All the Way 2,  and Tiny Christmas. He has also appeared in the movies Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, 50/50, Freaks, and A Cinderella Story: Starstruck.

Fletcher Donovan (Eric)

Fletcher Donovan plays Eric in Love Hard. Eric is the lovable guy who we first see as the Uber/Lyft driver that drives Natalie to the Lin family. He’s also Josh’s former stoner buddy. He only appears briefly in the movie but he’s a fun side character that provides a few chuckles. 

Fletcher Donovan has appeared in episodes of Turner & Hooch,  Big Sky, Firefly Lane,and 2020 The Stand miniseries. He also appeared in episodes of The Man in the High Castle, Supernatural, and Unspeakable. Donovan also played Jared on a few episodes of A Million Little Things. His movie credits include Kingspin, Drink Slay Love, He Sees You, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wildflower, and Crawlspace.

Fans of holiday romantic comedies, rejoice because Netflix’s Love Hard is one to add to your seasonal rotation. Iconic favorites Love Actually and Die Hard are referenced frequently throughout the film (as you can guess from the title) and it includes a sweet nod to Love Actually’s poster scene. The cast of Love Hard shared what additional rom-com scenes they want to recreate in a sequel, along with a great idea for the title.

Love Hard follows Natalie (Nina Dobrev), a Los Angeles-based writer who meets her perfect match on a dating app and flies across the country to meet him. She arrives to find out she’s been catfished, which leads to a hilarious, honest and heartwarming journey. Nina Dobrev shared her favorite rom-com scenes with CinemaBlend:

Who doesn’t love a Matthew McConaughey rom-com? She’s not wrong about him being in all the movies - we like to call this time period the McConnessance - but I love that Nina Dobrev also revealed the perfect title for the sequel to Love Hard which is Die Actually. As it’s another merging the titles of Love Actually and Die Hard, Netflix couldn’t possibly go with any other title for the sequel, and even though I’m not sure how this title could inform the plot picking up where the previous left off, I now need this sequel to happen.

Jimmy O. Yang, who plays Josh the catfisher, also shared the classic rom-com scenes he would like to recreate in a sequel. He imagined his character getting another epic moment, and it’s great. Here’s what Yang told CinemaBlend:

There’s no doubt in my mind that he could pull that off. Darren Barnet, who plays the other leading man in Love Hard chose my personal favorite rom-com scene, and I agree they should re-create this one if Netflix greenlights a sequel. Here’s what he chose:

This makes me want to go dig my boombox out of storage at my parent’s house. Darren, if you’re reading this, feel free to hold one outside my window. We have the same dream! 

Honestly, any of the scenes the cast mentioned would be great to see recreated by their characters. Love Hard wraps up at the end but still leaves speculation for where these characters go next, and I’d love to see them return. Love Hard begins streaming on Netflix November 5. 

Fans of the teenage, supernatural romance series The Vampire Diaries were elated earlier this month when stars and on-screen BFFs Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham both took to social media and shared the same picture of themselves recently hanging out together. While the actresses nearly broke the internet with that reunion, fans were trying to break it further by speculating on whether or not this meant a Vampire Diaries revival or spinoff was on the way. Graham has now responded to the hopes that an on-screen reunion is in her future, but fans probably won’t be too happy with her answer.

After TMZ caught Kat Graham at the airport to inquire about her and Nina Dobrev’s recent hang, the actress laid it out there that she's not into the idea of taking part in a Vampire Diaries revival or a reboot. In her words:

Kat Graham says it is pretty well-known by hardcore fans that the cast of Vampire Diaries is a tight-knit group, and that cast members are bound to hang out in real life without it relating back to the hit series. Honestly, it’s a pretty good point; the main characters of the series were together for well over a hundred episodes over the course of eight years. The bonds made in time like that don't just disappear when a project is done, even if the desire to continue on with those characters does.

Kat Graham and Nina Dobrev are indeed close friends just like their on-screen characters, and Graham showered her former co-star with compliments about her strength and loving nature. But they're not the only former Vampire Diaries stars to pal around in real life. The Salvatore brothers were at odds on screen, but their real-world counterparts Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder are basically brothers themselves at this point, and they even have a business together, the bourbon brand fittingly named “Brother’s Bond."

For fans who may be heartbroken over the denial of revival plans, it’s really not all bad news. It should be a consolation that the cast remains so close, and there already have been a number of TVD spinoffs, with The Originals adding more to the franchise, and Legacies is an even deeper spinoff that is still running on The CW.

Even so, the main cast that have remained so close to each other have largely avoided returns to the various spinoff series, with the exception of Paul Wesley appearing in a single episode of The Originals. This absolutely could leave something to be desired by fans of the OG series, with the idea of a revival totally leaving them drooling through their fangs.

Kat Graham’s disinterest in returning for a reboot, while super disappointing to fans, is understandable. The show ran for eight years, and only four have passed since the cast has been fully free to explore other projects full-time. The fact that the cast remains so close should bring fans at least a little comfort, because who knows what the future may hold if the cast does become nostalgic of their time together in The Vampire Diaries.

Four years after the conclusion of The Vampire Diaries, most of the show's cast has remained close. Recently, on-screen BFFs Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham reunited for a photo after what seems like a lifetime, which is sure to make fans ecstatic. And yes, the snapshot is just as sweet as you're probably thinking it is.

It’s always nice to see a TV show's cast reunite years after working together, whether it's for an actual reunion special or on their own time.

Last year, Nina Dobrev actually hung out with Paul Wesley. She shared a picture of herself, Wesley and his wife, Ines de Ramon, cuddling some adorable pups, and it was enough to melt even the coldest of hearts. And while it’s not known what brought up Dobrev’s reunion with Kat Graham, Dobrev did recently post on Instagram that she was taking a road trip. Perhaps she was planning on seeing Graham or she just decided to take a detour and stroll down memory lane.

Even though The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017, the world of the supernatural lives on. Spinoff series Legacies has contained plenty of references to its predecessor. In a special episode that premiered earlier in the season, the Salvatore school put on a musical depicting the history of Mystic Falls, which was basically a musical retelling of The Vampire Diaries. The episode also included a surprise cameo from a TVD alum.

Oh, how far they have come. Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are friends and former co-stars who share a love of puppies and a pretty spectacular joke about Justin Bieber being their “love child.” Dobrev is no stranger to weighing in on popular news stories, and one caught hers and Wesley’s eyes, with the two bonding over Bieber.

It all started on E! News’ Instagram page, where the outlet stumbled upon a shocking sight. Apparently,  Paul Wesley bore a striking resemblance to pop star Justin Bieber when he was a teen, and there are pictures to prove it. These two are hilarious, and their interaction is a far cry from the tense one Paul Wesley had on Twitter with his former Vampire Diaries co-star/Legacies actor Matthew Davis not-too-long-ago. Wesley and Davis clashed over politics. No matter what side of the divide you landed on, Justin Bieber’s resemblance to Wesley will probably bring a lot of fans together.

In related news, for something you can file this under hard-to-believe, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley were not always the best of friends. Long before the Justin Bieber jokes, Dobrev revealed that things got off to a rocky start between The Vampire Diaries co-stars. Wesley shared that the situation provided a learning lesson, and they eventually became incredibly good friends who enjoy having fun with each other.

Nowadays, the two are even joking that Justin Bieber is their “love child.” While Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley have super-busy careers, it is lovely that they still had time to stop by and leave a comment on the story. The Vampire Diaries’ sequel series Legacies is set to return for its third season on The CW on Thursday, January 21, 2021, during next year’s winter/spring schedule. Thus, keeping those TVD vibes going in the new year. Filming has already gotten underway, so it is just a matter of time. In the meantime, every season of The Vampire Diaries is currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix, alongside 2020 arrivals.

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley’s friendship just keeps getting better. The Vampire Diaries co-stars reunited for some adorable puppy-filled fun, and they are showing off their sweet time on social media. Unlike Wesley’s reunion with Ian Somerhalder in Poland last year, dogs were around for Wesley and Dobrev’s.

Nina Dobrev took a break from weighing in on Elena’s choices to share a picture of herself, Paul Wesley, and his wife, Ines de Ramon. The trio can be spotted cuddling their precious pups in a snapshot bound to fill the heart of every Vampire Diaries fan and animal lover with glee. Check it out:

Paul Wesley, his wife, and Nina Dobrev seem to be having the time of their lives with their divine pooches. In the comments section, Wesley lamented, “Poor Greggy in this photo.” I would assume that is the precious puppy in between him and Dobrev. Either way, The Vampire Diaries stars look happy.

It is a far cry from how the stars’ relationship started. Nina Dobrev took Vampire Diaries fans by surprise when she revealed that when the show began, she and Paul Wesley “despised each other.” Wesley later called his initial row a “cool lesson to learn,” and all the bad vibes are nowhere in sight now. That very question was posed by E! News with a photo of Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley on Instagram, and the choice was between the actors rather than their characters, which may have made Nina Dobrev's response easy! First, take a look at the photo of The Vampire Diaries' former leading men:

Nina Dobrev may not be Elena in real life, but she still shared an answer to the question after so many years of sharing the small screen with Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. Her response had nothing to do with Delena vs. Stelena. Instead, when it comes to choosing a favorite from that photo, Dobrev went with:

Whether the post referred to Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley or Stefan and Damon, Nina Dobrev selected the third-party in the photo – the bourbon. Dobrev finished off her reply with an alcoholic drink emoji and a winking smiley face. Her response is humorous for several reasons. For one, Dobrev’s answer implies that she would have chosen neither guy.

Plus, it is potentially a wink at her former Vampire Diaries co-stars’ new business venture. Since the show ended, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have started Brother’s Bond bourbon together. They announced the venture’s name back in May. I doubt that Nina Dobrev meant to refer the duo’s team-up, even if it is a neat side note.

As for Nina Dobrev’s response, it was a diplomatic one that should not alienate either side of The Vampire Diaries’ fanbase, which can be ferocious. The comments section on the post is filled with “Damon,” and “Stefan” replies. So, the debate will undoubtedly wear on for eternity, even if Elena did make her choice.

Who did Elena end up choosing before The Vampire Diaries ending aired? Damon! Yes, the love triangle actually came to an end. Elena chose Damon, and Stefan moved on with Caroline before he died. Damon lived the best life he could without his brother and with Elena. Of course, Ian Somerhalder had thoughts on what exactly Damon did after the finale.

Damon and Elena ended up having three kids, including a daughter named Stefanie. Whether or not she ever shows up on Legacies is another story. Some fans are definitely into the idea. Elena’s life choices were obviously not the ones her portrayer would have necessarily made. For her part, Nina Dobrev would have opted for a stiff drink!

Nina Dobrev is not staying away from TV for long. The Vampire Diaries actress is returning for a dark new series after her brief stint with comedy on CBS. Dobrev will be traveling back in time for the new show, which is not an entirely unfamiliar situation for Dobrev after her time on The Vampire Diaries.

On The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev wore many costumes when The CW drama would flash back to the past with the doppelganger of Dobrev’s Elena, whom Dobrev also played. Fast forward to 2020, and Dobrev is slated to star in and executive produce in a historical thriller called Woman 99, per TVLine.

If that title sounds familiar, it is probably because the show is an adaptation of Greer Macallister’s 2019 historical fiction novel, also titled Woman 99. Who is Nina Dobrev playing in it? Dobrev will be taking on the starring role, which is that of a young woman trying to free her sister from a mental institution.

It is said that Nina Dobrev’s character will risk her “safety,” “sanity,” and “her life” in her bid to free her sister. It sounds like Woman 99 will be a far cry from Dobrev’s last television show entitled, Fam. The CBS sitcom managed to take over the Murphy Brown revival’s spot in the Eye Network’s schedule, but it did not manage to stick around.

After some speculation regarding the show's uncertain future, CBS made its decision, cancelling the comedy after a single season. While many fans of Nina Dobrev have been hoping that she will put in an appearance on The Vampire Diaries’ spinoff, Legacies, it has yet to happen. Dobrev had explained she was too busy with Fam to make a stop by the show.

Now that she has Woman 99 coming up, that answer will probably stick for a while. It is not clear how many episodes the historical drama will run for, so it is unclear how long it will fill up her schedule. After Fam ended, Nina Dobrev signed on to star in and executively produce the indie movie, Sick Girl. So, she has remained busy.

If Woman 99 is a limited series, it would be a one and done situation. It sounds like it will be a short-run show, but who knows. Big Little Lies seemed like it would have one season, and it came back for another one as hope swells for a third. Speaking of which, Big Little Lies’ Bruna Papandrea will executively produce Woman 99.

It might be a while before the project makes it to your screen. Aside from the issues with the production halts in the entertainment industry, Woman 99 does not have a writer or a network lined up quite yet. I do not know about you, but this sounds like a TV show for Netflix. Otherwise, HBO Max would be a good fit too.

The Vampire Diaries has a dedicated fanbase, and you can look no further than the success of the series’ spinoff Legacies for proof of that, even though the show will probably not be getting any more spinoffs anytime soon. Would fans be surprised to know that Taylor Swift apparently joined in their enthusiasm for the parent series?

Nina Dobrev was promoting her new movie, Run This Town, when the inevitable subject of The Vampire Diaries came up. Dobrev was asked about the show’s celebrity fanbase. She revealed that Taylor Swift was a fan, and the show tried to get her cast on it. Dobrev told E!’s Pop of the Morning:

Nina Dobrev admits she was surprised to learn that Taylor Swift was a fan of The Vampire Diaries. It is surprising in the sense that Swift is so busy. As she demonstrated in her Miss Americana documentary, maintaining a music empire is no easy feat. That said, Swift is a confirmed TV fan. She guest-starred on CSI back in 2009.

Hence, a guest spot on The Vampire Diaries would not have been out of the question. Ed Sheeran’s controversial cameo on Game of Thrones came up as an example of a music superstar appearing on an iconic TV show. On whether the backlash against Sheeran makes it a good thing that Taylor Swift did not appear on The Vampire Diaries, Nina Dobrev remained enthusiastic about the idea. Dobrev said:

I would have been totally there for Swift starring. To put the timing of Swift’s potential cameo into perspective, it would have been between Swift’s second and third album – Fearless and Speak Now, respectively.

At the time, Taylor Swift was still technically considered country. That is, if this proposed cameo was when The Vampire Diaries began, which seems to be what Nina Dobrev indicated with “the very beginning.” The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009, which meant Swift was still on a hot streak from Fearless.

I would like to know what kind of character The Vampire Diaries had in mind for Taylor Swift to play. Back at the beginning, the drama seemed to be dealing with a victim of the week. I could have also seen Swift trying her hand at playing a vampire. We will likely never know on The Vampire Diaries front.

If she is a fan, there is always a chance the pop superstar could cameo on Legacies. New episodes of The Vampire Diaries spinoff are airing throughout this winter and spring on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. The Vampire Diaries just celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 2019, since it premiered in that month in 2009. The show ran for eight seasons until 2017. I love that so many of the stars are still friends, beyond Nina Dobrev, Candice King, and Kayla Ewell, who seem to spend a lot of time together.

What are some of the other stars of Vampire Diaries up to? You must know that Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have their own bourbon line coming out, which makes perfect sense for the Salvatore brothers. Somerhalder is still busy promoting his new Netflix series V Wars around the world. Wesley is still promoting Season 2 of Tell Me A Story on CBS All Access, which co-stars Danielle Campbell of The Originals.

Speaking of The Originals, Joseph Morgan talked about how Klaus Mikaelson still lives for him, and previewed his upcoming Peacock series Brave New World.

Will any of those stars ever be on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spinoff series Legacies? Paul Wesley already directed an episode and Ian Somerhalder said he'd like to do the same. Some of us would love to see Damon, Elena, and their daughter Stefanie Salvatore on Legacies. Candice King is the one fans keep expecting to see, since Caroline Forbes is mentioned all the time. She's the Saltzman twins' mother and she's supposed to be running the Salvatore School with Alaric Saltzman.

Legacies Season 2 will soon welcome Kai Parker, whom Ian Somerhalder described as The Vampire Diaries' best villain. Legacies returns Thursday, January 16, 2020 on The CW.

Legacies is the second spinoff to come out of The Vampire Diaries and, sure, on a surface level I can see similarities in the two leads. Both TVD's Elena Gilbert (played by Nina Dobrev) and Legacies' Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) are brunette teens navigating love triangles (and squares) in the supernatural world in Mystic Falls. But they have many other differences, including their personalities, backgrounds, and powers -- and also their sexual preferences.

For example, Legacies has casually added sexual fluidity to the storyline of several characters, including the main character of Hope herself. Sexual fluidity has been normalized since the very beginning of the series, which is something that The Vampire Diaries probably wouldn't have dared do when it started back in 2009. It just shows how much the culture has evolved in the past 10 years, and how much that is not only accepted by embraced by The CW fandom.

Danielle Rose Russell recently commented on the latest update in Hope's love life -- her confession that she used to have a crush on Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant). Josie had already revealed a previous crush on Hope. The two characters don't seem to be headed toward a relationship in Legacies Season 2 -- in fact they are both attracted to the same guy in Landon Kirby -- but it gave "Hosie" shippers hope that maybe later in the series Hope and Josie will return to each other.

It was a casual mention that highlighted to Danielle Rose Russell one of the many differences between Legacies' main character Hope and The Vampire Diaries' main character Elena.

Yeah, and as TVLine noted in its interview with Danielle Rose Russell, can you imagine Elena Gilbert casually saying she used to have a crush on Caroline Forbes? They never would've done that. It's great to see attitudes change organically and see that reflected in the next generation of these Vampire Diaries characters.

When Legacies fans aren't shipping Josie with Hope, they're often shipping Josie with Penelope Park, who is currently in Europe after leaving in Legacies Season 1. Josie is currently dating Landon, and Landon is trying to decide what he wants now that he remembers his love story with Hope from Season 1. Meanwhile, Hope has a connection with Landon's BFF Rafael -- which Raf stepped back from out of respect for his buddy -- and the new sheriff's son and daughter both have crushes on Hope. Hope also had chemistry with evil Ryan Clarke.

Like Elena, Hope just has a lot of suitors. (But does she have an evil doppelganger like Katherine? We already saw some of dark Hope in the alternate timeline episode, but more of that would be FUN.)

Even though we haven't seen Elena on Legacies, she is in the background of the story. She was mentioned in Legacies Season 1 when Josie talked about Damon and Elena Salvatore's kids. The Originals also showed that "Dr. Elena Salvatore" has a medical practice in Mystic Falls. It would be great to bring the whole franchise full circle to have Elena run into Hope on the streets or something, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon, if it happens at all.

All The Vampire Diaries And The Originals Characters Who've Been On Legacies So Far

Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore)

Ian Somerhalder played Damon Salvatore, the older and more dangerous Salvatore brother. Reckless, passionate, and a bit mad, Damon would do anything for those he loved, and he loved no one more than Elena and Stefan. The Vampire Diaries ended with Damon and Elena living a long and happy human life together, and upon death, he reunited with Stefan.

An environmental activist, Ian Somerhalder took a slight post-TVD break from the world of acting to enjoy married life with Nikki Reed, who starred in that other vampire franchise on the big screen. In July 2017, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Bodhi Soleil. In April 2018, Netflix announced plans to adapt V-Wars, a thriller based on Jonathan Maberry’s comic about a vampiric disease outbreak that leads to a war amongst humans, with Somerhalder serving as lead and executive producer. He will be fighting the vampires this time, rather than feeding alongside them.

Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore)

Paul Wesley played The Vampire Diaries' tortured soul Stefan, who had a ton of doppelgängers that ended up with Elena’s doppelgängers. In this lifetime, Stefan ended up with Caroline for a short stint of happiness, but then he moved on to the other side.

Around the end of The Vampire Diaries, Paul Wesley took the director’s seat for a while, helming a few TVD episodes before directing an episode of Shadowhunters, Rosewell: New Mexico, and the vamp-laden spinoff Legacies. Wesley also acted in a few short films before reuniting with former Vampire Diaries showrunner Kevin Williamson for his CBS All Access series Tell Me a Story. The anthology series twists classic fairytales by giving them dark, modern takes. Paul Wesley stars in Tell Me a Story Season 2, which begins streaming on CBS All Access on December 5.

Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert)

Nina Dobrev portrayed Elena Gilbert (and her most infamous doppelganger, Katherine Pierce) from Seasons 1-6 of The Vampire Diaries, having decided not to renew her contract after the sixth season. The Vampire Diaries continued for two more seasons without Elena or Katherine, but she inevitably returned during the series finale, giving Elena and Damon their long-awaited happy ending.

Since leaving the series in 2015, Nina has taken on more film roles in projects such as The Final Girls, Then Came You, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and the Flatliners reboot. In 2019, Nina Dobrev made her return to the small screen on the CBS sitcom Fam, which was unfortunately cancelled after one season. Dobrev also has two movies being released in 2019, Lucky Day and Sick Girl, and she recently signed on to become a beauty partner with Dior.

Candice King (Caroline Forbes)

Candice King was a queen of a sensible vampire until towards the end of The Vampire Diaries. Caroline Forbes concluded her run on the show as a happily married vampire with two witch children. Unfortunately, Caroline’s marriage to Stefan ended when he died, after which she created a school for witches with her ex-fiancé, Alaric. Yeah, Caroline lives a complicated life

Candice King returned to The Vampire Diaries world briefly as a recurring character on The Originals’ final season, which gave Klaroline fans the long awaited reunion of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline. King also appeared on an episode of The Orville, though fans are desperately hoping for her arrival on Legacies. King has one movie in post-production, After We Collided, based on the 2014 young adult novel by Anna Todd. Besides acting, Candice King has a podcast called Directionally Challenged, a pop culture and lifestyle program geared towards 20- and 30-something women. She co-hosts with former Vampire Diaries co-star Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan).

Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett)

Kat Graham played resident badass witch Bonnie Bennett, who went through many trials and tribulations during her Vampire Diaries run. The final one was watching her boyfriend Enzo dying, though Bonnie got a happy ending by riding off into the sunset to travel the world, with Enzo’s ghost closely watching.

Since leaving The Vampire Diaries, Kat Graham has appeared in several movies, including the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me, and the Netflix original movie The Holiday Calendar. Graham currently has three movies listed for 2019 releases, Cut Throat City, The Poison Rose, and another Netflix holiday original The Knight Before Christmas. She is also currently filming a movie called Emperor about escaped slaves traveling north, based on the life story of Shields Green. On the small screen, Kat Graham lends her voice to April O’Neil in the animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan)

Matt Donovan survived eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries as the last human in Mystic Falls, or at least that’s how it felt. Star Zach Roerig managed to keep Matt alive throughout The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies.

Zach Roerig continues to play Matt Donovan on other Vampire Diaries-related series, having appeared on multiple Legacies episodes in Season 1. Roerig also had a short stint as Pulse on the Marvel Fox series The Gifted, and in January, he joined the cast of USA's Dare Me, the television adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Megan Abbott. Dare Me is about the extremes two best friends go through to outwit and outperform each other, and is set to premiere on USA on December 29.

Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood)

Michael Trevino played Tyler Lockwood, a werewolf-turned-hybrid on The Vampire Diaries. Tyler found himself burdened by the werewolf curse only to get relieved of it by becoming a hybrid, but was then under Klaus’s control. Tyler died a few times before actually dying (via Damon) during The Vampire Diaries Season 8.

Michael Trevino followed up his Vampire Diaries world with a few short and feature films, and he then joined the cast of The CW's Roswell reboot series, Roswell: New Mexico. The drama is an alien-human love story very loosely based on the Roswell, New Mexico UFO incident of 1947, but this version also has an immigration focus. Trevino is currently filming Roswell: New Mexico Season 2, which is set for a March 2020 release on the CW.

Matt Davis (Alaric Saltzman)

Matt Davis ended his Vampire Diaries run with Alaric and Caroline opening a school for children with powers—mainly so their twin daughters, Josie and Lizzie, could have a place to learn. Not an accomplishment that most fathers can boast, that's for sure.

Matt Davis has stayed close to the Vampire Diaries world with guest appearances on The Originals, and perhaps most importantly by playing the main crossover role in Legacies. Also in 2019, Davis starred in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie called Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses.

Michael Malarkey (Enzo St. John)

Enzo joined The Vampire Diaries as the big bad of Season 5, but became a main character from Season 6 through the series finale capping Season 8. Michael Malarkey gave Enzo the sincerity that he needed to become a reformed baddie that fans could root for, and also one they could hope would get a fairytale ending with Bonnie. As is The Vampire Diaries way, Enzo passed on but not before ensuring that Bonnie lived a full life without him.

Michael Malarkey recently appeared as a recurring character on the Crackle original series The Oath, which reportedly isn't returning for another season. The actor also has a lead role on the History Channel drama Project Blue Book, which is set to kick off Season 2 in January 2020.

Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert)

Steven R. McQueen starred as Elena’s little brother Jeremy for The Vampire Diaries Seasons 1-6, at which point he left Mystic Falls in The Vampire Diaries Season 6 to hunt vampires. The actor made a return not only during the TVD series finale, but also for a guest role on Legacies.

After leaving Vampire Diaries, Steven R. McQueen had a lead role on Chicago Fire, with guest appearances on Chicago P.D. Since leaving the Chicago drama world, McQueen has appeared in a couple of short and made-for-TV movies, including the Hallmark Channel original Home by Spring. Steven R. McQueen will soon star opposite Justified's Neal McDonough in the Civil War western The Warrant, which is set to debut on January 1, 2020.

The end of The Vampire Diaries allowed the youthful cast members to continue to thrive in their respective careers. And if you’re starting to miss The Vampire Diaries world, make sure to tune into the CW spin-off Legacies, which usually has a familiar Vampire Diaries face or two stopping by from time to time.

The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder just instantly recognized the name "Stefanie Salvatore" as his own daughter -- or at least Damon Salvatore's daughter -- as introduced via a reference in Legacies Season 1. So since Somerhalder is ready to acknowledge his status as Daddy Damon, can we get to him to accept parental responsibilities on the spinoff show?

I already listed a bunch of ways Legacies Season 2 could introduce Damon and Elena's daughter Stefanie. She was mentioned during a casual conversation between Josie and Lizzie Saltzman during Season 1's alternate timeline episode. Sure, it was an alternate timeline, but there's nothing to suggest Stefanie -- named in honor of Damon's late brother Stefan -- does not actually exist in Mystic Falls in the timeline of Legacies.

Ian Somerhalder came into the conversation during a recent interview with TVLine about his upcoming Netflix show V Wars. The site asked if the name Stefanie Salvatore rang a bell, and Somerhalder knew right away. He also had positive things to say about Legacies, although he hasn't had time to check it out much yet:

Nice. It may not just be his time on V Wars that's keeping him from watching Legacies. The Vampire Diaries only ended two years ago, he may want some distance. Then again, he was just part of a fan convention on the 10-year anniversary of The Vampire Diaries' premiere. He is very much tied to the show -- and still close to Stefan actor Paul Wesley, with whom he's launching a Damon-friendly line of bourbon.

Back to Stefanie, though. The Vampire Diaries ended with Damon newly human, starting a new life with Elena. The Originals showed that Dr. Elena Salvatore had a family practice in Mystic Falls. And Legacies added the note that Damon and Elena had children. Maybe more than just Stefanie.

After the Legacies Season 1 finale, The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec answered a fan question wondering if we'd ever see Damon and Elena's kids on the Vampire Diaries spinoff. Julie said it was on her list of things to think about, why a child of Damon and Elena's would be supernatural and at a boarding school. But, as fans noted, Stefanie & siblings wouldn't have to be supernatural or at the Salvatore School. Stefanie could not have any magical or supernatural abilities, and either be aware of that world or not. Or something could happen to her, as it often does in Mystic Falls, and she could become supernatural and attend the school.

Since Josie and Lizzie Saltzman were already young kids by the time The Vampire Diaries ended, and Damon and Elena were just starting their new lives, Stefanie Salvatore would be several years younger than the Saltzman twins. That's why I was speculating that maybe the twins referred to Damon as "Stefanie Salvatore's dad" on Legacies because they babysat Stefanie or something.

Ian Somerhalder is now busy promoting V Wars, but once the 10 episode are on Netflix as of December 5, then he begins the fingers-crossed wait for V Wars Season 2. Maybe some bargaining is in order? Since Chris Wood's Kai is coming to Legacies Season 2, maybe we can twist Ian Somerhalder's arm for a cameo as Damon?

Maybe Nina Dobrev could also be convinced to cameo as Elena, since more than two years have gone by now and it may be time to start getting a wee bit nostalgic? We may never actually get Candice King's Caroline on Legacies, but dagnabbit can we try for everyone else who would make sense for the current timeline?

At least we know The Originals' Freya Mikaelson will be coming to Legacies, and in fact she'll show up next week on November 21. Legacies Season 2 continues Thursdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Delena or Stelena? The Vampire Diaries fans have been debating whether Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) should be with Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) or Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) since Season 1. Ian Somerhalder has firmly picked a side -- the one without his character. And it has to do with how "problematic" Damon and Elena fans were to his personal life, even more than just thinking Damon and Elena should not have ended up together in The Vampire Diaries finale.

Good news, though -- Ian Somerhalder loves loves LOVES Stelena fans. So at least Stelena fans can be happy about that, even if they're still upset about The Vampire Diaries finale.

Ian Somerhalder made his new comments about Stelena and Delena fans during The Vampire Diaries convention held over the weekend in New Jersey. The gathering -- which also included Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, and many more -- honored the 10th anniversary of TVD, which premiered on September 10, 2009.

So here we are, 10 years later, and the Stelena vs. Delena war is not yet over.

During a panel talk at the convention, Ian Somerhalder sat next to on-screen brother Paul Wesley and answered which 'ship he preferred, Stelena or Delena. His answer was captured by fans @wesleysIaugh and @wesleylover:

Paul Wesley appeared to think he meant Stefan and Elena's fans were the problem for him -- which might make more sense from an outside perspective -- but Ian Somerhalder clarified that no, he was talking about the fans who wanted Elena to be with his own character, Damon:

Yeah, The Vampire Diaries fandom is passionate and can be intense. Obviously not all Delena fans went overboard, but Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev dated in real life for about three years and fans were very invested in their on-and-off-screen relationships. When they broke up, and Ian started dating and then married Twilight's Nikki Reed ... not all Delena fans took it well.

Some Delena fans are now upset with Ian Somerhalder, but others understand why he felt that way, since several viewers crossed the line and made it personal:

It's understandably hurtful to be lumped into one large negative group, but from Ian Somerhalder's point-of-view it makes sense that the lingering feeling about "Delena" might be about all the times fans representing that 'ship made his life more difficult.

At least Delena got the endgame on The Vampire Diaries, so they have that. Stefan ended up with wife Caroline, but sacrificed himself in the end. Damon became newly human and lived a long happy life with Elena in Mystic Falls. Caroline is now somewhere in Europe and hopefully we'll see her again soon on Legacies.

Paul Wesley Explains Initial Clash With Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev: 'It Was A Cool Lesson To Learn'

Damon and Elena are still meant to be in Mystic Falls, where Dr. Elena Salvatore runs a family practice, in the timeline of the spinoff Legacies. Legacies Season 2 premieres October 10 on The CW, and fans are hoping to hear more about or even see Damon and Elena's daughter Stefanie.

How do you feel about Ian's Delena comments? Fair? Foul?

Ooh la la. Nina Dobrev filmed her role in Roger Avary's Lucky Day a few months after The Vampire Diaries series finale aired in 2017. The film is only just now sharing photos and an international trailer for its release "soon." That "soon" is from Dobrev herself, who shared the first two official photos.

The second photo, which you have to slide to see, shows The CW alum getting a lot more risqué with the sexy stuff than we're used to seeing:

Lucky Day was written and directed by Roger Avary, who won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar with Quentin Tarantino for Pulp Fiction. This movie follows Red (Luke Bracey), a safe cracker who has just been released from prison. He's trying to hold his family together as his past catches up with him in the form of Luc (Crispin Glover), a psychopathic contract killer who's seeking revenge for the death of his brother.

The movie started filming in September 2017 in Canada. It looks like Nina Dobrev went back for some ADR (automated dialogue replacement) recordings in 2018:

Back in October 2017, Roger Avary told Variety that Lucky Day brings together many of the the characters he's cultivated into a single neo-noir, aggressive, violent, funny, irreverent, politically incorrect movie. He said it's in the spirit of both True Romance and Pulp Fiction.

It's an exciting project for Nina Dobrev, who shot to fame on TV through Degrassi: The Next Generation and The Vampire Diaries, and most recently on the CBS sitcom Fam. She's been trying to branch out into more films, from XXX: Return of Xander Cage and Flatliners, to the romantic comedies Dog Days and Then Came You, plus the political drama Run This Town.

Nina Dobrev recently shot another indie movie, the comedy Sick Girl, her first project after CBS decided not to give Fam a Season 2. So it sounds like she's really showing some range out there in the film world.

No clue when Lucky Day will be released in the U.S., and on what platforms, but stay tuned.

The Vampire Diaries was packed with drama between the characters, ranging from murder to deceit to some good old-fashioned love triangles. The show has been off the air for a couple of years now, but some new drama emerged back in June when original leading lady Nina Dobrev revealed that she and star Paul Wesley "despised each other" in the early days of the show.

Her full comments proved that she and Paul Wesley warmed up to each other and became great friends, but it still came as a shock to hear that they'd ever "despised each other" considering how closely together they had to work. For a while there, it did look like Stefan and Elena would be endgame.

Now, Paul Wesley, who is soon returning to the small screen in CBS All Access' series Tell Me a Story, weighed in on the reveal that they didn't get along back in the day. Speaking with press at the 2019 TCA Press tour, Wesley said this:

All things considered, the issues between Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley don't sound like they were too dramatic or damaging. Honestly, how many of us haven't gotten a little annoyed with somebody we spend all our time with when exhausted?

Besides, even if their relationship wasn't the best back in the early days when they were getting on each other's nerves, they friendship seems quite solid nowadays, and the lesson Wesley learned by the change in their relationship was "nice," in his book. Does that mean a reunion in the Vampire Diaries spinoff?

Well, Paul Wesley already shot down the possibility of playing Stefan again in no uncertain terms, and Stefan did of course die in the Vampire Diaries series finale. There's every chance for Elena to return, though, maybe with Stefan's niece and namesake in tow. Perhaps Nina Dobrev will return!

And hey, Paul Wesley already directed one episode of Legacies. He's clearly not so unwilling to return to the franchise behind the scenes. Even if Wesley and Nina Dobrev don't reunite for Legacies, though, their friendship is seemingly going strong.

When asked if there was something specific that happened to push him and Nina Dobrev into becoming friends, Paul Wesley gave this response:

The Vampire Diaries was Paul Wesley's first big leading role on television, and Nina Dobrev's first big leading role on an American TV show, although she'd made an impression on Canadian audiences with Degrassi: The Next Generation. The pressure had to be significant for two young actors. The third lead was Ian Somerhalder, who had already portrayed a key character on a popular TV show, even if his Lost character did come to an untimely end.

When it was noted that the Vampire Diaries cast was kind of in high school during those early years, Paul Wesley said this:

While there are undoubtedly some Vampire Diaries fans out there who wish that the show was still going or at least that Legacies would feature some of the Vampire Diaries characters other than Alaric on a regular basis, at least Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder don't have to play characters who are meant to look eternally teenaged anymore! Age may be nothing but a number, but pushing 40 (or being 40, in Somerhalder's case) and playing high school would be a bit much.

Paul Wesley won't be playing a vampire for Tell Me a Story Season 2, but his new character will adapt a Disney princess story. Based on how Tell Me a Story wasn't exactly Once Upon a Time 2.0, viewers probably shouldn't count on the same kind of happily-ever-after that generally happens in Disney princess stories.

For Tell Me a Story Season 2, Paul Wesley plays Tucker, who is a struggling novelist. During his sleepless night, he works and works to prove that he's good enough for the beautiful woman he's intended to marry. Naturally, all of this is happening in a secluded cabin in the woods, and everything is in jeopardy due to a dark secret. Is this Beauty and the Beast with a twist?

Find out when Tell Me a Story returns to CBS All Access for its second season. Season 2 of this show is only one of the big things in the works at CBS' streaming service. Star Trek: Discovery will air a new season that picks up after its crazy Season 2 cliffhanger, and Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Jean-Luc Picard for Star Trek: Picard. Basically, if you haven't considered a CBS All Access subscription already, now may be the time to start thinking about it!

When CBS cancelled Fam after one season, it opened up Nina Dobrev's schedule. She isn't filling that time by bringing The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert Salvatore to the new spinoff Legacies -- at least, not yet -- but she did just announce a new project.

Nina Dobrev will star in the new indie comedy Sick Girl. Not only that, she's also an executive producer on the film, which will mark the feature writing and directing debut of Jennifer Cram.

Sick Girl follows Wren Pepper (Nina Dobrev), who feels that she and her lifelong friends have grown apart. A simple white lie from Wren begins to tear that community apart, taking them all on an unexpected ride.

Sick Girl will co-star Wendi McLendon-Covey, Brandon Mychal Smith, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Koenig, Hayley Magnus, Dan Bakkedahl, and Ray McKinnon.

Nina Dobrev shared a photo with her fellow Sick Girl stars to mark the start of filming:

It's very cool to see Nina Dobrev with a producer credit next to her name, in addition to being the lead actor. Dobrev was already known for playing Mia Jones on Degrassi: The Next Generation before landing the main role of Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries. She was the lead character for six seasons before leaving the show, then returning for the series finale.

The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017, and Nina Dobrev went on to star in films like XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Crash Pad, Flatliners, Dog Days, and Then Came You. She co-starred in Run This Town, about the final year of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's tenure, which premiered at South by Southwest in March 2019. In addition to Sick Girl, she has the film Lucky Day coming out at some point.

Nina Dobrev made her return to TV earlier in 2019 as the lead character of Clem on Fam. It was her first time in a sitcom, filmed in front of a live audience. Although she said it gave her anxiety at first, she got used to it and came to love it. Unfortunately, ratings weren't where CBS wanted them to be and the show was cancelled after one season.

The silver lining of that is that instead of preparing for Fam Season 2 right now, Nina Dobrev can make films like Sick Girl. Of course, it also gives me a slight sliver of hope that Dobrev might be willing to at least cameo as Elena on Legacies.

It has already been established that Dr. Elena Salvatore has a family practice in Mystic Falls during the Legacies timeline, and it was even mentioned in Legacies Season 1 that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena had a daughter named Stefanie, in honor of Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Fans are hoping to hear more about Stefanie, and maybe see Elena again someday.

My hopes aren't too high on that front, but at least we know Nina Dobrev has this fun indie movie in the works. Stay tuned for any further details on Sick Girl, including a release date. Legacies Season 2 premieres October 10, 2019 on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) was recently asked to name his favorite "K" villain from the show: Katherine Pierce, Klaus Mikaelson, or Malachai "Kai" Parker. It's a tough question. Take a second to think about how you'd answer.

He picked Kai.

First, Ian Somerhalder talked about being "bitter" over Klaus (Joseph Morgan) getting his own spinoff on The Originals. Then he talked a bit about Katherine (Nina Dobrev) before explaining why Kai (Chris Wood) was the best villain on The Vampire Diaries.

Kai is currently in another Prison World, stuck there courtesy of Bonnie Bennett, using an Ascendant and Gemini Coven magic from Josie and Lizzie Saltzman when they were just children. The Legacies Season 1 finale showed Josie and Lizzie finding the Ascendant at the Salvatore school and having a vague memory of what it was. That was our sign that the twins may end up accidentally freeing their evil Uncle Kai from his Prison World.

Caroline? Bonnie? 6 Vampire Diaries And The Originals Stars Julie Plec Wants On Legacies Season 2

Kai Parker killed his twin sister -- also the twins' biological mother -- Jo Laughlin on her wedding day to Alaric Saltzman. The twins survived by magic moving them to Caroline Forbes' womb. If Kai gets out of that Prison World, I can totally see him manipulating the twins and also trying to kill them all over again.

Julie Plec added that Legacies Season 1 finale Ascendant scene without getting confirmation from Chris Wood that he would actually reprise his role as Kai in Legacies Season 2. She admitted that was pretty presumptuous of her, and we don't know yet if Wood will be in the new season or not. But Plec has been pushing for Kai to be on the spinoff, and she's not alone.

Josie actress Kaylee Bryant also told CinemaBlend Kai is one of her favorite characters, and she keeps pushing for him to join his nieces on Legacies:

Absolutely. So we have Ian Somerhalder calling Kai the best villain of The Vampire Diaries, Kaylee Bryant asking for him to be on Legacies, and Julie Plec already adding him to the Legacies storyline. Chris Wood, your ears should be burning.

During The Vampire Diaries’ first season, it was all about Elena and Stefan’s love story. Things got off to a rocky start on screen, of course, due to Stefan’s identity as a vampire and his brother coming to town, among other things. Off-screen, though, things were also tumultuous between their off-screen counterparts, albeit for entirely different reasons.

In a recent interview, Nina Dobrev revealed that she and co-star Paul Wesley actually “despised each other” during those early days in Season 1. Yes, you heard that right. Dobrev shared that surprising revelation during an episode of a podcast hosted by her former Vampire Diaries co-stars Candice King and Kayla Ewell. (King played Elena’s best friend, Caroline, while Ewell portrayed Matt’s doomed sister, Vicki.) Speaking of her and Wesley’s dynamic, Dobrev told Directionally Challenged:

\Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley do not get enough credit for their acting abilities during that time. Not only were they acting out an out-of-this-world scenario as Elena and Stefan, but they were also convincing millions of fans that their characters were in love with each other. Meanwhile, in real life, the co-stars were not getting along in the slightest.

Remember, those were the crucial episodes when The Vampire Diaries was working overtime to reel fans in with their characters’ burgeoning love story. It worked, too! When fans were going crazy for the couple’s on-screen chemistry, they speculated something must have been happening on that front behind the camera, too. Nina Dobrev talked about that totally wrong-headed speculation, saying:

This is classic! At least they felt something, right? Powerful emotions tend to register on-screen, even if they're not exactly the ones that are meant to be portrayed. It has always been my understanding that having any sort of reaction between actors is better than nothing. Even if it is sparks of the not-so-positive variety, it tends to show up on-screen.

Any and all harsh feelings between Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley ended up getting resolved, and the actress revealed that tensions between herself and Wesley have long since passed. She explained their current relationship, saying:

In the end, Elena and Stefan ended up in an okay spot with each other, too, though they did not end up staying together. Elena got together with Stefan’s brother, Damon, and Stefan did not survive the series finale. Damon and Elena's daughter, Stefanie Salvatore, has gotten a mention on Legacies. How and if she will be introduced on the spinoff has fans on the edge of their seats.

Nina Dobrev’s Fam got cancelled. Whether that could mean Dobrev putting in an appearance as Elena in Season 2 of Legacies remains to be seen. The actress recently revealed her favorite episodes of the flagship series, so she clearly has kept her fond feelings for it and Paul Wesley fresh. All is well that ends well?

There were 22 episodes for the first seven seasons of Vampire Diaries, and 16 in the final Season 8. He's been given an estimate net worth of $8 million, but it's not clear if that also includes his pay for producing and directing episodes. It was also posted before he joined Netflix's V-Wars. I really thought CBS was going to give Fam a Season 2. But since the sitcom was just cancelled ... what's the mourning period before we can shamelessly brazenly beg plead cajole or just outright ask if Nina Dobrev can please bring The Vampire Diaries' Elena Gilbert-Salvatore to Legacies Season 2?

Nina Dobrev seemed to enjoy the change of pace of Fam, so I am sorry for her, the cast, and other Fam fans that the show didn't get a renewal. There's no saying that Dobrev would want to return as Elena, since she already left The Vampire Diaries before the final season, wanting to say goodbye to the role. She did return for the finale, and wrapped up Elena's story to show the start of her life with the newly human Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). The Vampire Diaries finale even showed Elena and Damon later finding peace in the afterlife. But there's a lot that Legacies could explore when it comes to the lives Damon and Elena led after The Vampire Diaries.

How Legacies Season 2 Could Introduce Damon And Elena's Daughter Stefanie Salvatore

Nina Dobrev was previously asked if she'd ever return for Legacies, and she mentioned her new full-time job on Fam, which also happened to get a timeslot that directly competed with Legacies on Thursday nights. (Seriously, whose idea was that?!) Since that's not an issue anymore...

Legacies -- the joint spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals -- has hinted to some of Damon and Elena's continued story. The Originals already showed a Mystic Falls storefront showing Dr. Elena Salvatore had her own practice in town. Legacies revealed that Damon and Elena had kids, including a daughter Stefanie named in honor of the late Stefan Salvatore.

Caroline? Bonnie? 6 Vampire Diaries And The Originals Stars Julie Plec Wants On Legacies Season 2

The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec acknowledged Damon and Elena's kids, and said she's even giving some thought to how it would make sense to have any of those kids on Legacies. I already shared some ideas on that front, but that was assuming both Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder would decline to make any appearances on Legacies.

That may still be the case, but if there's a money truck that could pull up at Nina Dobrev's doorstep, maybe go rev up the engine to see if she'd be willing to at least make a cameo. Since Elena is in the same town as Legacies in the same time period, it would make sense. It's just a matter of convincing Dobrev to come back to this world she thought she left behind.

Legacies is in the same boat right now with Candice King as Caroline Forbes-Salvatore. Caroline was name-dropped frequently in Legacies Season 1, since she's the co-runner of the Salvatore School and mother to twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman. She should be on this show, but actress Candice King wasn't ready to return to the role. She may never be ready, and the Legacies family respects that. But there are awkward story holes that now need filling -- with Caroline, especially, but also now with Chris Wood's Kai Parker after the Season 1 finale.

Julie Plec previously revealed that the Legacies would start writing Season 2 in June 2019 and start filming in late July. So theoretically there's time to get Nina Dobrev's agent on the horn and make the pitch of a lifetime to get her on Legacies Season 2, even in just a brief cameo as a treat for longtime fans of The Vampire Diaries. Maybe it's a longshot, but the timing could work. Besides, she did guest star on Vampire Diaries' first spinoff, The Originals. Why not make it a hat trick?

Whoever shows up on screen for it, Legacies Season 2 will show up for fans this fall on The CW.

Legacies is the joint spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and what legacy could be more relevant to fans than the one left by Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder)?

Klaus Mikaelson's The Originals daughter Hope is the main character of Legacies, with Alaric Saltzman and Caroline Forbes-Salvatore's Vampire Diaries twins Josie and Lizzie Saltzman as fellow regulars. Wouldn't it make perfect sense to add Damon and Elena's daughter Stefanie to the story in Season 2, after her name-drop in Season 1?

Elena and Damon Salvatore ended up together in The Vampire Diaries finale, and we know they lived long, happy lives. Dr. Elena Salvatore set up a practice in Mystic Falls, and Damon appreciated life as a human again. Legacies Season 1 also thrilled fans with mention of their children.

Sure, the two mentions of their kids -- and specifically of a daughter named Stefanie Salvatore -- happened in alternate timelines. But The Vampire Diaries Universe ruler Julie Plec acknowledged Damon and Elena's kids, and she even weighed in on featuring them in Legacies:

As many fans replied, the kids wouldn't have to be supernatural to appear on Legacies. But they could be.

Since Stefanie got a shoutout in Legacies Season 1, in honor of her late uncle Stefan Salvatore, here are six ways The Powers That Be could let us meet Damon and Elena's daughter in Legacies Season 2.

Stefanie Salvatore Manifests Supernatural Powers And Attends Salvatore School

Let's assume in this scenario that Stefanie Salvatore starts showing some kind of supernatural power, whatever it might be, so she ends up attending Salvatore School as a student. How would this power manifest? Would Damon and Elena raise her to be aware of supernatural abilities, or try to protect her by keeping that hidden?

Maybe if Stefanie does have some kind of power, let's say a witch, that would force the issue and the family would have to address an entire world of supernatural abilities -- plus the existence of the Salvatore family school down the road. Damon gave the Salvatore boarding house to Stefan's widow Caroline, figuring that's what Stefan would've wanted, and she and Alaric have been running the Salvatore boarding school ever since.

Julie Plec tweeted that the Salvatore School was founded when the Saltzman twins were under 5. "Right when their powers started manifesting in dangerous ways." So they are at least that many years older than Stefanie Salvatore, considering Damon and Elena started having kids after he became human again at the end of The Vampire Diaries.

As we saw with Pedro, the Salvatore School isn't necessarily just for high school-aged kids. What if Stefanie starts manifesting powers at her current age (9-11, maybe?) and ends up at the Salvatore school, under the tutelage of family friend Alaric Saltzman, and under the guidance of longtime family friends Lizzie and Josie. Would they be like older sisters to Stefanie? It would be interesting to see.

As fans have pointed out, Stefanie could be carrying magical blood on both sides. As one CinemaBlend commenter wrote:

Stefanie Salvatore carrying a cure in her blood could certainly make for an interesting plot point. First of all, how would we know this? It would have to come up in some fashion, when she manifests a supernatural power. There are any number of directions the story could take if Stefanie Salvatore has supernatural powers. But, honestly, I prefer the scenarios where she doesn't.

Lizzie And Josie Saltzman Babysit Stefanie Salvatore

Let's say Stefanie is just a regular kid, a family friend of the Saltzmans. In the alternate universe of that Legacies Season 1 episode, Josie addressed Damon as "Stefanie Salvatore's dad." Considering the age difference between the girls, it seems unlikely they'd be close friends. It's more likely the twins would be called in to babysit Stefanie (and maybe her siblings) if Damon and Elena were out on a date night.

Josie is a sweetheart and seems like she'd be great with kids. But Lizzie showed with Pedro that she might only really get along well with kids. I'd love to see Lizzie bonding with young Stefanie, and talking to her like any other person her age -- i.e. venting to her about her latest complaints. I see Stefanie either being like a patient young friend to her, close to Elena with Caroline, or maybe going in the snarky direction befitting Damon's daughter.

Either way, a babysitting storyline could accidentally introduce magic to Stefanie, if Lizzie blows up in some way or if the twins start talking about The Merge or some other supernatural term and curious Stefanie wants to learn more.

It's also possible that Jeremy Gilbert could come back into the storyline after his Legacies Season 1 cameo and he could be the one to babysit Stefanie. But in the interest of being practical, I'd say have the twins do it. They are already main characters of Legacies, so it wouldn't require convincing Steven R. McQueen to return again on top of casting a new character and scenario for Stefanie. It seems more doable to give that storyline to the Saltzman twins. But hey, anyway to get Jeremy back works for me.

Stefanie Salvatore Helps Out At Mom Elena's Practice

In the continued interest of practicality, I am assuming Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are not returning for any Stefanie Salvatore story on Legacies. We'd all love them to, but let's be realistic and assume they will not show up in Season 2. It would be great if we could at least get Candice King to show up in Season 2 as Caroline, so let's start there.

Anyway, I could see young Stefanie maybe wanting to follow in her mom's footsteps as a doctor. In that respect, she could be a young presence at Dr. Elena Salvatore's practice. She wouldn't work there in a child labor capacity, but if Mom was out or busy somewhere, and some Salvatore School/Mystic Falls High kids rushed into the practice because there was an emergency on the streets, I could see a ... 10-year-old, maybe? ... Stefanie in the office rushing to get supplies to help. If Judith Grimes can be such a badass on The Walking Dead at 10, I don't see why the daughter of Damon and Elena couldn't do the same.

Plus, that's another scenario where the world of the supernatural could creep into the show, whether Stefanie knows it exists at this age or not. Supernaturals don't exactly bleed or heal like regular humans, and she'd probably be old enough to notice that in a medical crisis.

We See Stefanie Salvatore Somewhere Else In Mystic Falls

This is the catch-all section for any other way we just happen to run into Stefanie Salvatore out there in a non-dangerous capacity. If we can get Jeremy on screen, maybe Stefanie is out shopping with Uncle Jeremy. It's unlikely that we'd see Damon and Elena on-screen, so any other way would work. If she goes to school locally -- probably not Mystic Falls High School quite yet -- maybe we see her with fellow school kids.

Stefanie would be familiar with Alaric as her dad's friend, so maybe she spots Ric out shopping or something and says "Hey, Mr. Saltzman" and they have a brief conversation giving fans an update on Damon and Elena. It could be something that simple. Or it could get more complicated...

Stefanie Salvatore Is Put In Supernatural Danger

As much as it would be difficult to see a Mini Salvatore in danger, that wouldn't be too shocking for the daughter of Damon Salvatore. There are still supes out there that might want to hurt Damon for things he's done in the past, and what better/worse way than to kidnap his child?

I'm thinking of Kai Parker on this. Uncle Kai was referenced in the Legacies Season 1 finale, when Josie and Lizzie were holding an Ascendant, vaguely recalling it from a long time ago. Bonnie Bennett used the very young twins' Gemini Coven magic to bind Kai in another Prison World. He's there now, but that Ascendant returning to the story suggests he could come back. That's what Julie Plec wants, it's what Josie actress Kaylee Bryant wants, and other Vampire Diaries fans would love it too.

Kai is directly tied to the Gemini Coven Merge storyline, but Kai and Damon have a history too, and I could totally see a revived Kai somehow discovering the existence of Stefanie Salvatore and kidnapping/manipulating her as a power move.

It doesn't have to be Kai, that's just one idea that could fit into where they were already hoping to go in Season 2 if Chris Wood returns. But putting Stefanie in danger as a Gilbert-Salvatore wouldn't exactly be new in Mystic Falls, and we do have a Super Squad of badasses who'd be willing to do just about anything to help her.

Stefanie Salvatore Needs Help When Damon And Elena Are In Danger

Let's say something happens to Damon and Elena off-screen. The supernatural world won't leave them alone or whatnot. It's easy to imagine. Stefanie would probably call her Uncle Jeremy. But Jeremy might call in the folks at the Salvatore School.

The Saltzmans already know of Stefanie, hence the Legacies Season 1 reference, but this would be another case where they'd have to decide whether she already knew about the existence of supernaturals or not. The Vampire Diaries already did the whole Holy Crap Vampires! thing with Elena. And The Originals' Hope is on the other end of the spectrum as a tribrid with multiple powers.

What could Stefanie do that's different? Maybe she's like a Harry Potter squib, like some other Vampire Diaries characters, where she doesn't have powers herself but she's aware of the supernatural world. If she was raised in awareness of the supernatural, would she envy people with supernatural abilities, or be grateful that she gets to be normal? Would she even be allowed to stay normal, considering what usually happens to humans in The Vampire Diaries Universe?

For all I know, Legacies Season 2 will not even mention Stefanie, or any other Gilbert-Salvatore children. But Season 1 planted that hope in fans' minds, and Julie Plec did acknowledge the kids in her tweet. So we know she and the writers are at least thinking about options.

There's a lot to think about when it comes to Legacies Season 2, beyond Damon and Elena's kids. How many past Vampire Diaries and The Originals stars will return this time? Will we finally see Caroline? How about Kai? Any hope of Bonnie or Freya? Will Penelope come back from Europe? How will we get Hope back after her big Season 1 finale sacrifice, now that everyone has forgotten her?

Julie Plec said the writers would be getting back to work in early June, with filming for Legacies Season 2 to start in late July. Season 2 will premiere this fall 2019 on The CW. Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev has her CBS comedy Fam, which may or may not be renewed for Season 2, and Ian Somerhalder will soon release his new vampire drama V-Wars on Netflix.

How would you like to see Legacies introduce Stefanie Salvatore and/or any other kids Damon and Elena had after The Vampire Diaries?

The Vampire Diaries ended two years ago, with Damon Salvatore newly human again, living a full life with Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). But how did Damon feel about that human life? Actor Ian Somerhalder recently weighed in on that front.

First, a quick recap: In The Vampire Diaries Season 8, Episode 16, Elena's voice-over revealed that she went to med school, then returned to Mystic Falls, since that's where she wanted to grow old. She lived the epic life she wanted, giving thanks to Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Damon's brother and Elena's former love. Here's what Elena said about Damon in the finale:

The end shot for Elena showed her finding peace in the afterlife with her family, and then Damon found peace with Stefan. Damon's final words were "Hello, brother."

Here's what Ian Somerhalder recently had to say at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming in Australia (via The Music), when asked how he thought Damon spent his human life before seeing Stefan again in the afterlife:

It was already revealed on The Originals that, post-Vampire Diaries, Dr. Elena Salvatore opened a family practice in Mystic Falls:

Do you think Damon raised their kids while Elena was busy at work? We do know they had kids. During last year's San Diego Comic-Con, while The Vampire Diaries Universe creator Julie Plec was plugging the upcoming spinoff Legacies, she talked about Damon and Elena's future:

Ever since then, fans have hoped to hear more about Stefanie Salvatore, and maybe even see Damon and Elena's daughter on Legacies. Julie Plec actually addressed that question after the Legacies Season 1 finale:

At any rate, now that two full years have gone by since The Vampire Diaries finale, Ian Somerhalder opened up again on how it all ended:

Ian Somerhalder previously said he didn't think Damon should've gotten a happy ending with Elena, after all of the horrible things he'd done. But that's what happened anyway. Here's how the show finished Damon and Elena's storylines in The Vampire Diaries finale scene:

Ian Somerhalder shared a Damon vampire photo during the airing of Legacies Season 1, and that got some fans thinking he might actually bring Damon onto the spinoff. But that didn't happen -- and anyway, Damon would be human in this timeline, not a vampire.

Ian Somerhalder is busy preparing for his new V-Wars show, which should be coming soon to Netflix. But considering Damon is still alive in the Legacies timeline, we can always reserve hope that Damon and/or Elena stops by at some point. If not, maybe we'll just get more Gilbert-Salvatore family references in Legacies Season 2, which will premiere on The CW this fall.

The Vampire Diaries started its own universe back in 2009. Now that 10 years have gone by -- leading to two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies -- at least one OG star would love to get everyone back together to wax nostalgic over this crazy journey.

Michael Trevino currently stars as Kyle Valenti on The CW's Roswell, New Mexico. But he's still known as Tyler Lockwood to many fans who watched him for eight seasons on The Vampire Diaries and even a couple of episodes of The Originals. Trevino was recently asked how he'd feel about a Vampire Diaries reunion. At first, he seemed to want to clarify strictly a reunion vs. a show reboot/revival. He made it clear he's totally down for the former:

As Michael Trevino told Access, he'd love some kind of gathering to talk about the 10-year journey they've been on. Hopefully they'd tape it for the fans, perhaps to air before Legacies Season 2 premieres this fall.

Since September marks the 10th anniversary of the Vampire Diaries' premiere, the timing could be perfect. And since The Originals ended one year ago this August, maybe gather the stars of all three shows -- Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies -- and have them compare stories across The Vampire Diaries Universe. Film the event as a special episode to air the hour before Legacies Season 2 premieres. Boom.

Not that the cast members are really waiting for an official reunion event to reunite. Michael Trevino was asked if the stars keep in touch at all:

Matt Davis brought his Vampire Diaries character Alaric Saltzman back as one of the leads of Legacies. Zach Roerig also brought Matt Donovan to the spinoff for two episodes early in Legacies Season 1. I'd say bring Michael Trevino's Tyler back into the mix, but Tyler is not only dead, he's at peace in the afterlife, having reunited with Vicki. They still keep an eye on Matt.

Michael Trevino was one of The Vampire Diaries alumni at Nina Dobrev's (Elena Gilbert Salvatore) big 30th birthday party, joined by Kayla Ewell (Vicki) and Candice King (Caroline), plus The Vampire Diaries Universe queen Julie Plec.

The Vampire Diaries premiered on September 10, 2009. But first it had to get the OK from The CW. The network announced it had given a green light to a pilot in February 2009. The series was officially picked up for 2009-2010 in May 2009. So 10 years ago today, Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, and company were busy putting together the show that would launch The Vampire Diaries Universe.

The Vampire Diaries ended two years ago as of March 10, and one of the writers celebrated the finale anniversary by revealing more about the Klaroline letter featured in the final episode. The Originals ended its series run last August 1, so we're coming up on one year Klaus-free (sniff) this summer.

Thankfully, Legacies is still here to continue many of the storylines started in The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Fans are hoping even more TVD and Originals alumni sign on to join the fun in Legacies Season 2, which starts filming in late July in Atlanta for its premiere this fall.

Nina Dobrev has a couple of picks for her favorite episodes of The Vampire Diaries, where she starred as Elena for most of the series' run. While both are episodes of the long-running CW series, they are very different.

Nina Dobrev’s first pick was a Season 1 episode fans will undoubtedly recall. Dobrev said this on My Favorite Episode with Michael Schneider:

That episode marked the first of many Vampire Diaries episodes wherein Nina Dobrev would play dual roles: the show’s lead character, Elena, and her distant ancestor, Katherine. It is also the episode that Elena asks Stefan what he is before he confirms he is a vampire. In “Lost Girls,” viewers learn how Katherine and Stefan met, among other things.

Katherine’s existence had been teased for a while and seeing Nina Dobrev bring her to life was a big deal. Dobrev’s second favorite episode pick was also a pivotal installment of the series. She selected The Vampire Diaries’ Season 3 finale, entitled “The Departed.” Explaining her reasons, Dobrev said:

She did a great job in this Vampire Diaries viewer’s opinion. That episode ended up changing the show and Elena forever. The car crash occurred at the end of the season-ending installment. Alaric died as a result. It took a while before he ended up eventually coming back to life. Oh, the perks of working on a supernatural show.

Elena also died, having drowned in the aftermath of the crash... or so it seemed until the episode's final moments. It was revealed that she had come back to “life” in a far different form than she left it. Thanks to being given vampire blood for an unrelated injury earlier, Elena woke up as a vampire. Cue ominous music!

Given that she enjoyed filming the underwater scenes, I have to wonder: was the water warm? Usually, you think of water like that being cold, which you would think of as being miserable to shoot in. Whatever the temperature, the experience sounds like it was a positive one for Nina Dobrev.

Both of Nina Dobrev’s choices are strong ones. As someone who enjoyed whenever she played Katherine, it was nice for me to hear she enjoyed it too. Dobrev ended up exiting in The Vampire Diaries’ penultimate season. She returned for the series finale. The show’s legacy is currently continuing on the spinoff, aptly titled Legacies.

Will she reprise her role as Elena on the series? Dobrev has weighed in with an answer. Stay tuned! The series’ spinoff will return for a second season, so more to expect from that universe.

Nina Dobrev has been encouraging fans to tweet #RenewFam to let CBS know they want to see her sitcom Fam return for Season 2. This is Dobrev's first major TV role since The Vampire Diaries ended, and it had a strong start in the ratings -- compared to timeslot predecessor Murphy Brown -- but it slipped a bit after the first episode debut, as many shows tend to do.

Right now it's not clear if CBS will cancel or renew Fam, but we can consider both sides.

Right now, I'm leaning toward a guess of renew, based on CBS giving a Season 2 chance to somewhat comparably rated shows like Superior Donuts and Instinct. Murphy Brown ended after its one-season revival, but The Powers That Be said it was always meant to just be a one-season return, as opposed to a cancellation based on ratings.

Fam premiered in January to 7.34 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in the advertiser-loving 18-49 demo. The rating still tends to be what networks look at most closely. Fam's premiere numbers were seen as significantly better than timeslot predecessor Murphy Brown's average of 6.1 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. Murphy Brown's finale only had 5.2 million and a 0.7 rating.

However, now that Fam is nine episodes into its run, its numbers are looking closer to Murphy Brown's average. Fam Episode 8 had 5.09 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. Yesterday's March 7 Episode 9 upped that to 5.72 million and a 0.9 rating, according to TV By the Numbers.

It's not great, but it's not that bad -- and Fam easily defeats its Thursday at 9:30 timeslot competitor Will & Grace in both overall viewers and ratings. That can't hurt, right?

Fam currently follows the strong comedy block of The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and Mom. It's probably never going to have a better lead-in, especially since The Big Bang Theory is ending this year. No one is going to have that lead-in for the 2019-2020 season. S.W.A.T. follows Fam at 10 p.m. and is currently seeing similar ratings to the comedy.

It looks like Fam is getting CBS's usual 13-episode first season. Episode 9 just aired March 7, so there are still a few weeks left to see how Fam does in the ratings to get a better view of its renewal chances. Or CBS may solve the mystery by announcing a renewal before that point. But they may be playing the wait-and-see game, too.

As one of the major networks, CBS has different standards than The CW. The CW's The Vampire Diaries/The Originals spinoff Legacies would love to have Fam's viewers and ratings; the March 7 episode of Legacies -- which competes with Fam in its second half -- earned 0.85 million viewers and a 0.2 rating. But Legacies has already been renewed for Season 2. The Vampire Diaries ended its 2009-2017 run with a March 2017 Season 8 finale that had 1.15 million viewers and a 0.5 rating.

It looks like Fam is airing two new episodes next Thursday, March 14. The first Episode 10 airs at 8:30 p.m., after a repeat episode of The Big Bang Theory. Then, after Young Sheldon also airs a repeat episode, Fam returns with Episode 11 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Here's what else is playing on TV during midseason 2019.

The Vampire Diaries premiered 10 years ago, and ended two years ago as of March 2019. But we all know vampires are pretty hard to kill, and the stars have been revived all over TV. Some of the actors have stayed connected to The Originals and Vampire Diaries' joint spinoff Legacies, while others have boarded different The CW series. And several more have branched out on other networks. Sink your fangs into these updates and prepare to hear more about the stars as the year continues...

Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev was the top star of The Vampire Diaries for six seasons, before leaving for a year and coming back for the Season 8 finale. She's filled her time with some film roles in the past couple of years -- including xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Flatliners, and Dog Days -- but she recently returned to TV in another lead role with Fam. The CBS sitcom marked a huge change for her, and she said she had an anxiety attack before filming the premiere in front of a live studio audience. But now she loves it, and seems to be having a blast in her role as Clem. She's still close with her TVD family, and several stars attended her recent 30th birthday party -- including Candice King (Caroline), Kayla Ewell (Vicki), Michael Trevino (Tyler), and The Vampire Diaries Universe producer Julie Plec. Dobrev's Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore (see below) are still living in Mystic Falls as of The Vampire Diaries finale, but Dobrev isn't likely to bring Elena back on Legacies since Fam is a full-time gig. She's been clear about that so far, but still, maybe someday...

Michael Trevino

Michael Trevino played Tyler Lockwood on all eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries. This year, he's keepin' it in The CW family by starring as Kyle Valenti on Roswell, New Mexico. Julie Plec is also an executive producer of that new show. However, that's where the similarities end -- or at least, that's where Trevino hopes they end. During the recent TCAs, he emphasized that it has been 10 years since Vampire Diaries aired. He was 24 back in 2009. And the "very principled" surgeon character he's playing now -- Kyle -- is more mature than the, well, frankly, the dick that Tyler could be on TVD. As you might expect, Trevino was interested in playing someone different from Tyler, and found that character in Roswell's Kyle.

Paul Wesley

Hey, speaking of Roswell --The Vampire Diaries' Stefan Salvatore actor Paul Wesley directed the March 5 episode of the series, called "I Saw the Sign." That airs just two days before the Legacies episode Wesley directed, called "The Boy Who Still Has a Lot of Good to Do." Wesley returned to his Mystic Falls roots to direct that March 7 episode, and apparently he had a blast doing it. Wesley has been keeping himself quite busy. He also starred in the CBS All Access series Tell Me A Story. And he just announced a new production partnership, allowing him to both star in and executive produce some shows. One of the shows he'll star in will reportedly be based off the non-fiction article Confessions Of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher. He has shut the door hard on bringing Stefan Salvatore back, which makes sense considering how The Vampire Diaries ended. But hopefully he comes back to direct another Legacies episode in Season 2, because having Stefan in the Salvatore school is just good karma.

Ian Somerhalder

Ian Somerhalder is keeping Vampire Diaries fans well fed on Instagram, often sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the series. It's clear he has nostalgia for the show himself. However, that doesn't mean he's planning to bring Damon Salvatore to the spinoff Legacies. Damon did end TVD as newly human. He and Elena were seen living together in Mystic Falls, where she became a doctor and runs a practice. Legacies recently revealed that Damon and Elena have kids, including a daughter Stefanie named in honor of the late Stefan. Maybe someday we'll see young Stefanie on Legacies. For his part, Somerhalder may be too busy with his own new vampire show, V-Wars. It's based on the anthology series by Jonathan Maberry, and it got a straight-to-series order from Netflix. Somerhalder plays a human this time, Dr. Luther Swann, and it's his best friend Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes) who turns into a vampire. Netflix has yet to give the series a premiere date, but it's expected in 2019. Oh, and Somerhalder also directed an episode of V-Wars; get a preview courtesy of his (NSFW) set video.

Michael Malarkey

Michael Malarkey joined The Vampire Diaries relatively late in the game, recurring as Enzo St. John in Season 5 before becoming a main character for the final two seasons. TVD ended with a flash forward showing Bonnie Bennett getting ready to travel the world, and spirit Enzo was still there beside her (trying to remind her not to forget her passport). Now Malarkey is playing the character of Captain Michael Quinn -- opposite Game of Thrones alum Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) -- in the History Channel's new historical drama series Project Blue Book. The UFO series, set in the 1950s and '60s, just premiered in January 2019, and was already renewed for Season 2.

Candice King

Someday maybe Candice King will bring Caroline Forbes to Legacies. Until then, Caroline will just be name-dropped every other episode, as the mother of twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman and co-owner of the Salvatore school. The Legacies cast has said they have an open door policy with alumni from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. They'd be thrilled to have Caroline on the show, but totally understand if Candice King just wants to take a break from the role. King did recently return to TV as an alien on The Orville. It was a pleasant surprise to see her as Solana Kitan, the newly engaged older sister of Lieutenant Alara Kitan (Halston Sage), in the January 2019 episode "Home." King also has a podcast with fellow Vampire Diaries alum Kayla Ewell called "Directionally Challenged."

Kat Graham

Since 2019 has just started, there's a good chance we'll be seeing even more of The Vampire Diaries cast in other roles on TV throughout the year. There's also the film world, where Kat Graham has also been picking up roles after leaving TVD as Bonnie Bennett. She was on Netflix's The Holiday Calendar in late 2018 and it looks like she has some big screen roles lined up for 2019 including The Poison Rose, Emperor, and Cut Throat City. I'd love to see Bonnie back in Mystic Falls for Legacies -- she ended TVD traveling the world, but at some point she might want to return home, right? -- but that doesn't seem to be in the cards anytime soon, if ever.

Legacies returnees

Many Vampire Diaries stars have kept the show alive by bringing their characters back on the spinoff Legacies. Matt Davis has a main role as Salvatore school headmaster Alaric Saltzman. The Vampire Diaries ended with Damon giving Caroline and Alaric the Salvatore home to use as the school, seeing it as what Stefan would've wanted. Zach Roerig has appeared in a couple of episodes so far as Sheriff Matt Donovan. Steven R. McQueen's Jeremy Gilbert showed up in a cameo (we need more!) to save Landon and Rafael early in Legacies Season 1. Demetrius Bridges' badass librarian Dorian Williams is a recurring character on Legacies, and the most recent episode as of this writing showed Dorian punch Alaric in the face over their shared affection for guidance counselor Emma Tig (Karen David). Earlier in Legacies, Alaric's almost-wife Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) made an undead appearance to bond with Josie, one of the twins she never got to know.

We know someone else from Hope Mikaelson's past on The Originals is showing up on Legacies soon, but anyone else from The Vampire Diaries? Maybe, or we may have to wait for Season 2.

Since it has only been two years since The Vampire Diaries ended, and not quite one year since The Originals series finale, it's understandable that some stars may be taking breaks from TV for a while. Fans are eager to see more of their favorite stars on the big and small screen, so we'll keep an eye on them going forward. Legacies would probably LOVE to see Ian Somerhalder back as Damon Salvatore, who is still living in Mystic Falls in the timeline of the spinoff. But that doesn't mean it's happening. Somerhalder recently shared a vampire photo that got some fans thinking Damon might be appearing on Legacies, which is currently airing Season 1 on The CW:

Lookin' good, man! So is Damon back in action? Well, he's not on set for Legacies. Legacies wrapped Season 1 filming on February 6. The CW renewed it for Season 2, but filming hasn't started yet. Besides, The Vampire Diaries ended with Damon as newly human. He and Elena -- now Dr. Elena Salvatore -- are raising kids together, including a daughter named Stefanie in honor of Stefan. Why would he be back in vampire mode?

Based on Ian Somerhalder's hair and clothes, it looks like this was probably a throwback to The Vampire Diaries Season 6, Episode 4. Here's a shot from that episode:

It looks like he was just having some fun on Instagram. It's not the first time he has gotten nostalgic for his vampire past. A few months ago, he posted a throwback photo from the first day of shooting for The Vampire Diaries Season 7.

Ian Somerhalder also has his own new vampire show coming to Netflix, called V-Wars. He's not playing a vampire in that one, though. He's Dr. Luther Swann.

You know who did recently come to Legacies, though? Paul Wesley. Not to act, but he directed an episode of Season 1 that fans will be able to watch pretty soon in March.

It wouldn't make too much sense for Paul Wesley's Vampire Diaries character Stefan Salvatore to show up again, considering how his storyline tied up in the finale. But there are plenty of Vampire Diaries and The Originals characters who would make perfect sense as additions on Legacies.

Elena and Damon are two characters who are not likely to be seen, considering Nina Dobrev's new sitcom Fam competes against Legacies on Thursday nights. Candice King's Caroline Forbes-Salvatore would definitely be welcome on Legacies -- as the mother of Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, and co-head of the Salvatore school. But that's up to her. Julie Plec and Kaylee Bryant have also mentioned wanting to see Chris Wood back as the twins' Uncle Kai Parker, and that would fit perfectly with The Merge storyline we keep hearing teased on Legacies.

Netflix currently has a page up for Ian Somerhalder's V-Wars, but there's no release date at this point. It's possible he'll stop by Legacies someday, next year or a few years out from The Vampire Diaries, which only ended in 2017. He and many other TVD stars are taking a well-deserved break after eight years on the show. In the meantime, Legacies airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW, as one of the many shows to watch this midseason.
