For years now, Sarah J. Maas has been writing characters that serve as ultimate book boyfriends. However, when it comes to people she crushes on, we have to go back to the Lord of the Rings movies. That’s right, the A Court of Thorns and Roses author had a major crush on Orlando Bloom’s Legolas. However, I really shouldn’t have written that in the past tense, because when she described what would happen if she met the actor, it very much proved she’s still head over heels in love with him.

This all came up as Maas was talking about how she started writing Throne of Glass during her “emo Lord of the Rings phase” on the Call Her Daddy podcast. That led Alex Cooper to mention Legolas, and the author noted that she still has a cardboard cutout of Orlando Bloom’s character. I’ll let her tell this part of the story:

She went on to say that she didn’t go on a date in high school and that “Legolas was [her] boyfriend.” She even convinced her son that that was true.

Anyways, all this led her to say that her love for the Lord of the Rings cast member still burns bright, and if she were to meet him, she would not be OK. In fact, she explained what could happen in graphic detail, saying:

Yeah, I also don’t think she’d survive if she wound up meeting Orlando Bloom. However, I’m sure we all have celebrity crushes like that.

I mean, Bloom even admitted to having a crush on Cate Blanchett when they were making the LOTR movies. So, while I’d guess his reaction to meeting her was not this visceral, he can likely relate to the feelings Maas was having (and still has) about him.

Now, all this has me wondering if fans will ever get to crush on Maas' characters through an ACOTAR TV show. According to the author, she got the rights back for it; however, at the moment, she’s focusing on her books, not a book-to-screen adaptation. So, for now, we’ll all just have to keep those imaginary crushes going.

Thankfully, that’ll be easy, because there will be two new ACOTAR books released on October 27 and January 12. And in the meantime, you and Sarah J. Maas can go back and crush on Orlando Bloom by streaming The Lord of the Rings movies with an HBO Max subscription.

When it comes to the best war movies, few come close to the intensity of Black Hawk Down. Inspired by the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, Ridley Scott’s star-studded thriller follows a group of elite soldiers as they find themselves in a brutal fight for survival after a mission goes awry. Based on what cast member Orlando Bloom has said, making the movie wasn’t for the faint of heart.

Recently, the Lord of the Rings star opened up about playing Todd Blackburn in one of his first major film roles. During an appearance at Fan Expo Chicago 2025 (via EW), he said the experience "was like from the frying pan into the fire" and that he was "being ordered around and screamed at” before filming even began. In fact, the actor spared few details when talking about what it took to be a part of Black Hawk Down.

Though Bloom was able to push through his injuries and be a part of the eventual shoot, Ben Foster wasn’t as lucky. Originally set to play Jamie Smith, Foster “properly tore his groin muscle” and actually had to be recast due to the severity of his injury. It sounds like an ordeal, to say the least.

Putting actors through an intensive training program before a single frame is shot seems very on-brand for Ridley Scott, a filmmaker known for not settling for anything less than perfection, or at least authenticity. When asked about the demanding process of getting ready for one of the most realistic war movies ever made, Bloom responded:

Though Bloom had a very tough go at it while training for one of his breakout performances, when it came time to shoot the movie in Morocco, he had a different problem. Due to his character only being in a small portion of Black Hawk Down – he falls out of the helicopter and is injured – Bloom found himself on a start-and-stop shooting schedule for the better part of six months:

That said, the Pirates of the Caribbean star did admit he had a “great time in Morocco,” as he was able to travel between shooting days and learn a lot about the different cultures of the African nation.

It has been nearly 25 years since Black Hawk Down introduced Orlando Bloom to the intensity of basic training and the even more intense process of being in one of the best Ridley Scott movies, but it’s something that he’s still very proud of after all this time.

I don’t know when it happened, but my Facebook feed has been showing me random posts (not from friends) for months now. While I simply skip over most of these for one reason or another, one recently caught my attention with a dialogue about some of the best actors of all time and who had the best seven-year run. Is it Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, or someone else known for great movie characters?

Truth be told, plenty of great options were brought up in a Facebook post, and now I’m having a hard time deciding who is right or if there’s even an answer to this question. That said, I’ve come up with a list of a few Hollywood leading men who gave audiences some of the best ‘80s movies, even more of the greatest ‘90s films, and countless big-screen moments we’re still talking about years later.

Over the course of the decade, Hanks went from one of the biggest up-and-coming actors in the comedy world to a two-time Oscar winner, a Hollywood leading man, and the star of the most transformative animated film franchise of the decade.

I mean, he’s still great today, and some of his best work has been in recent years, but he had a stranglehold on American culture back then. Seven, Fight Club, Ocean’s Eleven, and more, all coming out over the course of seven years, is absurd. During the ‘90s, Pitt went from a supporting player to THE GUY in show business.

Okay, Orlando Bloom probably isn’t the first person to come to mind whenever the conversation turns to great runs, but his seven-year stretch in the 2000s is out of this world. From the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and examples of all the major genres in between, Bloom had hit after hit at the start of the 21st century.

After going through all these actors and their respective filmographies, I’m having a really hard time deciding who had the best seven-year run. I mean, Tom Hanks’ stretch in the ‘90s is in a league of its own, but Tom Cruise also had a firm grasp on things in the era. Harrison Ford kept striking back, and Samuel L. Jackson was just one bad motherfucker.

When it comes to the best boxing movies to grace the silver screen over the years, viewers have come to expect a certain kind of storytelling formula, which proves to be effective. The Cut, one of the sports flicks on the 2025 movie schedule is a bit different, though. The Sean Ellis-directed film doesn't feature much fighting in general, and I found that surprising upon watching it. With that, the movie's stars, Orlando Bloom and John Turtorro, shared some keen thoughts with CinemaBlend on that front.

The Cut sees Orlando Bloom play an Irish boxer, who’s never specifically named, as he decides to come out of retirement for another chance for a championship title. However, in order to do so, he has to undergo a brutal weight loss regimen in order to be eligible to compete in the ring. When CinemaBlend spoke to Bloom about the movie’s lack of actual fighting, he told us this:

While one would expect to film a big fight in a boxing movie, the movie is more about the process of undergoing rapid weight loss that boxers may go through so they can be properly matched with opponents. Bloom makes a good point in that this movie feels "fresh" in that it seeks to tackle the mental hurdles a fighter has to deal with as opposed to the physical ones. Of course, a film like Raging Bull also manages to tackle deeper themes with a boxing story, but The Cut still feels like a novelty nonetheless.

That mental battle was also big for Orlando Bloom. For the film, Bloom decided to lose 30 lbs. in a matter of three months to authentically play the role. He called the experience “definitely not something to try at home” and has been open about the “mental toll” it put on him. In our interview, he even told us that he came to set at his lightest weight and they filmed The Cut in reverse chronological order. As Bloom sought to gain the weight back, he had to “start gorging food” and found himself eating “anything and everything.”

Bloom and I aren't the only ones who agree with the "fresh" assessment either, as John Turturro shares the perspective. In the movie, Tuturro plays the unorthodox boxing coach who's hired to ensure Bloom’s character makes his goal weight. When discussing co-star take about their movie’s lack of fight scenes, Turturro said this:

Ellis' film, which was written by Justin Bull, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year to positive reviews overall. When the director talked to Box Office Pro about making the movie as well, he said training montages in boxing movies are often “not realistic”, and he was interested in talking about boxing from a “more human” angle.

I'd say that approached served the movie well. The mental fight of The Cut also leads to a shocking ending that may not hit the same way as a big fight scene, but it definitely had me on my toes. Anyone who'd like to see the cerebral film should know it's currently streaming on Paramount+ and available to rent or buy on digital platforms. Also, seek out other excellent sports movies that are worth a watch.

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry made headlines earlier this year when it was reported that they’d called off their engagement, effectively ending their nearly 10-year relationship. In time, representatives for the two stars confirmed their split and asked that the couple (who share a daughter) be allowed their privacy. Since then, the rumor mill has been churning over how the pair are supposedly doing as they take their next steps. Bloom has been mum on the matter, but he’s now speaking about his split from his longtime partner.

The 48-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean alum rarely speaks about his personal life, let alone his romantic relationships. Orlando Bloom seemingly alluded to the split a few months ago when he shared a motivational post, inspiring his social media followers to view each day as a “new beginning.” When Bloom appeared on The Today Show, host Craig Melvin referenced his breakup with his 40-year-old ex and asked the actor how he was doing. Bloom (whose interview can be seen on YouTube) responded in an upbeat way:

Those sentiments align with some of the reports that have come out since news of the Bloom/Perry first surfaced. Sources said that the pair were “still very much in touch” and were still focused on co-parenting their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy. What Bloom’s recent comments seem to indicate is that he’s proud of his child and that he’s optimistic about what the future holds.

Why exactly Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom broke up is unknown to the general public. One insider alleged that Daisy heavily factored into the pair’s decision to separate, as they supposedly didn’t want their daughter to “grow up feeling the tension and animosity.” What Bloom and Perry purportedly want is “to protect her from anything adverse” and “keep a friendly relationship so each can be around her separately or together.”

At the same time, there have also been reports about Bloom and Perry’s love lives. In July, dating rumors began swirling around Perry and Justin Trudeau (the former Prime Minister of Canada) after they were spotted on what appeared to be a date night. Per an update that dropped in mid-August, though, things between Trudeau and Perry allegedly cooled off. Meanwhile, Bloom has been linked to the likes of Sydney Sweeney and Jessica Alba, though the star hasn’t confirmed nor denied he’s in a new relationship as of this writing.

Of course, Orlando Bloom also continues to work and, while at Today, he was promoting his latest 2025 movie release, The Cut. Earlier this year, Bloom also marked the release of Deep Cover (which is streamable with a Prime Video subscription). Bloom also recently didn’t shoot down the notion of returning for a sixth Pirates movie when asked about the possibility. While he remains booked and busy, though, it seems Bloom is greatly concerned with raising his daughter in the aftermath of his split from Katy Perry.

Generations have grown up with the Lord of the Rings franchise, both the novels and the wildly successful movies. Peter Jackson's book to screen adaptation was a sensation, and helped to launch some of the LOTR cast into superstardom. That includes Orlando Bloom, who recently spoke about if he'll have a role in the forthcoming sequel The Search for Gollum, as well as explaining why he doesn't want Legolas to be recast.

There are tons of questions about The Search for Gollum, the biggest being how many legacy characters will return from Jackson's original trilogy (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription). While appearing on The Today Show, Bloom was asked if he might return to play everyone's favorite elf, to which he said:

What a bummer. Legolas was a serious scene-stealer through the original films, thanks to his penchant for action and unlikely friendship with Gimli. He seems like a logical choice to bring back as we return to Middle Earth, but it sounds like we shouldn't hold our collective breathe about Orlando Bloom's role. Bring him back, you cowards!

Information about this project has been slim, but director/producer Andy Serkis is hoping to film halfway through 2026 and have The Hunt for Gollum in theaters in December of 2027. We'll just have to see whether or not these plans come to fruition, or if the long-awaited sequel is delayed.

Later in the same interview, Bloom went on to share that he really doesn't want to see anyone else playing his role in the franchise. In his words:

Honestly, this makes sense. Filming for The Fellowship of the Ring began back in 1999, and Bloom and company would spend four years filming and promoting Peter Jackson's trilogy. Then, to the surprise of book fans, he went on to reprise that role in the two sequels to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of Five Armies which were released in 2013 and 2014 respectively. He's spent years in Middle Earth, so seeing someone else portray Legolas would no doubt be a strange experience for the 48 year-old actor.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is currently expected to arrive in theaters December 17, 2027. Hopefully it doesn't end up delayed, and we get to see some more OGs officially confirmed. Hey, a guy can dream!

Among 2025 movie releases out this weekend is The Cut, starring Orlando Bloom as a fictional boxer. He has to go to great lengths to drop 32 pounds in the matter of a week in order to qualify for a boxing championship in Las Vegas after getting the offer out of the blue to come out of retirement. Bloom’s character decides to take on the challenge with the help of John Turturro’s unorthodox trainer, but my, my, is The Cut’s ending brutal.

When I spoke to Orlando Bloom and John Turturro about filming the grueling ending of The Cut, they explained how they actually started filming the latest of boxing movies with the end. As Bloom shared:

The movie ends with the boxer (who is never named outright) doing the weigh-in that will determine if he can do the match. But when he steps on the scale in front of a crowd of people, he’s 0.02 pounds off. It’s maddening considering all the hell he put himself through, but the boxer doesn’t give up. In a daze, Bloom’s character ends up going up to a craft table and using a knife next to a hunk of ham to chop off two of his fingers. When he returns to the scale, he’s 153.98 pounds, making him eligible to go out and fight.

During our interview, Bloom detailed how he lost a dramatic 30 pounds like his character before coming on set to film the movie, but rather than doing so in a wildly unhealthy week, he did so across three months. By the time he arrived to set at the weight the boxer is at the end of the movie, he told us he “could hardly function” and his “brain capacity was limited at best”.

So, it wasn’t necessarily difficult to get in the mindset of the character, but working backwards on set actually ended up working to the actor’s favor. As he continued:

Bloom said he’d write in the script what he’d done in the later parts of the script in order to remind himself and work backwards. He found that the way of filming tracked with his “funny way of thinking.” But, the real difficulty came in getting off his diet and moving to “constantly eating” after his “insane weight loss”. Bloom recalled how it messed with his hormones and “everything”.

2025 Emmy nominee John Turturro didn’t have a strict diet to adhere to, but he did recall what it felt like on set to film the movie basically backwards. Of course, he has Severance under his belt, where he and his castmates have to basically play two characters, but this was a different animal. As he added:

The Cut ending is absolutely one of the most chilling scenes we’ve seen this year, and it’s interesting to hear how it actually went down on set. We’re even more impressed by these actors after hearing their perspectives.

We’ve heard the stories of Hollywood actors losing a lot of weight for roles before. From Christian Bale’s The Machinist transformation to Joaquin Phoenix’s weight loss for the Joker movies. The latest example of this is through Orlando Bloom’s role in The Cut. But rather than it being like most boxing movies, that are all about the big and thrilling fights, the latest of 2025 movie releases focuses purely on a boxer’s desperate attempt to make weight in time to fight for a championship title.

Audiences go on a grueling journey with Bloom’s character as he tries everything to make the cut. Knowing the actor had gone through a mentally exhausting effort to lose the weight for the role, I had to ask what the first thing he ate once he was no longer on a diet. But, as Bloom explained, moving into cheat meals, gaining back weight and resuming life sans his diet was absolutely part of the challenge of starring in The Cut. As he answered:

While The Cut tracks Orlando Bloom’s boxer character as he loses 30 pounds to make his championship fight, Bloom got into the shape he needed to be by the end of the movie. Then, he worked backwards on set.

On the one hand, he could eat whatever he wanted on the set, but as he described, it wasn’t a pleasant experience by any means. He continued with these words:

Bloom lost the weight he needed to in the matter of three months, which meant dropping about 2.5 pounds a week when a safe and healthy pace when on a diet to lose that kind of weight is expected to take about twice as long. While the conversation around celebrity weight loss tends to focus on the process of going down in weight itself, I found it interesting to hear Bloom open up about getting back to normalcy was just as difficult.

In The Cut, he ends up working with a boxing coach, played by Severance’s John Turturro, who offers some unorthodox and rather unhealthy ways to make sure he can make the fight in the small amount of time he wants to make weight. What happens in the movie directed by Sean Ellis ends up being a tense, psychological thriller, rather than your typical boxing movie, that brings up the extremes that can come with this aspect of the profession. As Bloom also told us:

Orlando Bloom really gave his all for The Cut, and it’s great to see him being honest about what the experience was truly like behind the scenes. It’s among the movies that are joining your options to see in theaters this Friday, September 5.

Amid recent developments, there’s still continued focus on the aftermath of the Bloom/Perry romance. Perry and Bloom (48) – who were engaged and share a daughter – broke up this past June after nine years together. While the stars are no longer together, it’s been reported that they still plan to co-parent their daughter, Daisy, amicably. The notion of doing what’s best for their child also reportedly factored into Bloom and Perry’s decision to split up.

With Katy Perry’s latest relationship with a man seemingly over, time will tell if she connects with another major name after Justin Trudeau. Should that happen, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the pop star finds herself going viral yet again.

It’s been nearly a decade since the last of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies set sail, but talk of a reboot or sequel has never really gone away. Orlando Bloom, who once considered passing on the role of Will Turner before embracing it as a career-defining part, has now taken some time out of his busy 2025 movie release schedule to weigh in on how Disney could “win” with another installment. And honestly, his idea makes a lot of sense.

Bloom reminded fans at Fan Expo Chicago (via Entertainment Weekly) this weekend that dead franchises just might be back. The Lord of the Rings veteran didn’t pitch an elaborate spin-off or a bold reinvention. Instead, his idea was refreshingly simple: bring the band back together. He said:

It’s hard to argue with that logic. While the Pirates franchise (which is streaming ith a Disney+ subscription) has experimented with new characters and shifting focuses in later films, what fans often crave is the original dynamic that made the series a global sensation in the first place and the chemistry between Bloom, Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush, and, of course, Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow. The Kingdom of Heaven actor doubled down on his belief that a true reunion is the only way forward:

In other words, if Disney wants to revive Pirates in a meaningful way, half-measures won’t cut it. The audience doesn’t just want a nostalgic callback; they want the whole crew back aboard the Black Pearl. And a big factor in getting everyone on board will, of course, hinge on the script's quality.

Of course, there are some stormy seas to navigate. Johnny Depp’s highly publicized legal battles have complicated any potential comeback, and even Geoffrey Rush has weathered his own court fight in recent years. Still, longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Captain Jack and the original crew hoisting the sails again. The 48-year-old English actor also speculated on where Disney might be steering the franchise next. As he put it:

Disney has previously floated ideas of spin-offs (including Margot Robbie’s much-discussed female-led project), but Bloom’s comments cut through the fog: no amount of fresh angles or reboots can replicate the lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry of the original cast.

And maybe that’s the point. If Pirates of the Caribbean really does hoist the sails again, perhaps the “way to win” is not reinventing the wheel, but bringing the crew back together one last time for a proper voyage.

Ferrari co-star Matt Damon also spoke out about how “unhealthy” some of his dietary changes for parts have been, but without going into his emotional state during that time.

In fact, Bloom and Perry broke up before back in 2017. They're splitsville again, but this time must stay in each other's lives as coparents of their daughter. An anonymous insider allegedly close to the former pair spoke to Us Weekly about what's happening behind closed doors. They shared:

Well, that's certainly a hopeful message. Because while breaking up likely comes with strong emotions from he pair of A-listers, they seem to be on relatively good terms. And that should help make it easier to stay in each other's life and raise their daughter Daisy together. Could this be another version of Gwyneth's conscious uncoupling?

Of course, fans might be wondering the logistics of how this former couple is managing their lives post-split. Per this same source, they're trying to maintain stability all things considered. In their words:

This break-up is the latest in the saga of this particular celebrity couple. Bloom and Perry got engaged in 2019, after breaking up and getting back together. News of their split still managed to go viral, likely thanks to how long certain fans have been following the former pair's relationship. As such, we should probably expect to see more of these type of headlines for the foreseeable future.. especially if alleged insiders are offering quotes about what's happening behind the scenes.

Peter Jackson’s take on the classic Middle-earth J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy is one of the most beloved adaptations of all time, with each of the movies' comparisons to the books an evergreen fandom topic. Now, as the first film's 25th anniversary lurks around the corner, cast members such as Orlando Bloom have been sharing fun BTS tidbits, and I'm all in on the Legolas actor sharing his humorous thoughts about Frodo never saying the Sindar Elf’s name.

This isn’t the first factoid Bloom shared either; he just revealed that he’d sported a mohawk under his Legolas wig for Fellowship. He dropped another while promoting his 2025 movie release, the Prime Video crime caper Deep Cover, but this time it involved Elijah Woods’ Frodo. Bloom guested on the Sirius' Faction Talk, with the discourse involving the nervous Hobbit’s conversational skills came up, and the Pirates of the Caribbean alum started with a good laugh and weighed in on realizing that the name recognition would never come, saying:

It’s thrilling to have Bloom not only open up about the scene but also have a great sense of humor about it! (In case you aren’t recalling the exact moment he’s referencing, the snub comes after they return from Mount Doom, Baggins wakes up and reunites with the Fellowship.) I can only imagine the awkward instance between the two and lol at the finished scene.

The Black Hawk Down actor then jumped into pointing out just how goofy the topic was to be discussing two decades after the initial release. He shared of Woods’ lasting effect flub:

As we all know, the grounds we could cover in regards to Middle-earth are even bigger than the created world they all live in. It’s pretty great that somehow this minute exchange is even a part of the conversation, no matter how silly.

Now we just need to hear why the Over the Garden Wall actor chose not to verbally recognize the bow and arrowsman. Does it fall into the category of a main character who tanked their movies or a brilliant and intentional choice that would endure alongside the megahits? Fingers crossed on that front, and it’s half as thrilling as Bloom recalling working on LOTR as a newbie, we’re in for a treat.

Now, with all of Bloom’s thoughts fresh in my head, I’ll be preemptively planning on getting into my Max subscription for a Lord of the Rings rewatch weekend. And I will likely replay the shared scenes between Legolas and Frodo a few times over, especially when Baggins doesn’t say his name.

Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings movies are rightly viewed as one of the greatest movie trilogies, if not the greatest, of all time. At this point, over 20 years after they began, the films have millions of fans and they have been viewed, reviewed, and dissected to the point that it would seem there is nothing we don’t know about them. And yet, for all the trivia I do know, I just learned something new.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was the first time that many saw Orlando Bloom on the big screen. It was a star-making turn for the actor, to be sure, even though he only had a few lines. However, he had another film that was released right around the same time as Fellowship that resulted in a very strange hair situation for the actor.

Orlando Bloom Had A Mohawk Under That Awesome Legolas Hair

It probably shouldn’t be a major surprise to anybody that Orlando Bloom wore a wig to play Legolas in the Lord of the Rings movies. Sorry, that amazingly long blond hair was not natural. Whether or not Bloom would have been capable of growing hair like that was ultimately irrelevant, because his actual hair, as seen in a still active blog he kept during production, was a mohawk.

Bloom was in the cast of Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down just before he jumped into the massive shoot for The Lord of the Rings. For that film, his character had a mohawk, and Bloom still had the hair when he began production on Peter Jackson’s trilogy. So if you didn’t know that before, you’re now aware of what’s under that wig.

This particular piece of Lord of the Rings trivia was something I already knew, but there’s something else about Legolas I just discovered, even though it’s actually far more obvious.

Legolas Doesn’t Talk Much In Fellowship Of The Ring

Legolas is one of the key members of the Fellowship, so you might expect that he has a lot to say in the trilogy. That may be the case in the second and third films, but not in Fellowship of the Ring.

In an interview with VT for Orlando Bloom’s new movie Deep Cover, available with a Prime Video subscription, his co-star Bryce Dallas Howard asks him how many lines Legolas had in the first Lord of the Rings movie, and even Legolas himself is shocked by the answer.

At first, 17 lines may not seem like that little, considering Legolas doesn’t appear until midway through Fellowship of the Ring. Of course, considering the movie is three hours long, half of that is still a decently long movie. So, the lack of talking still shocks me.

However, Legolas certainly has to share the frame with a lot of other characters. The Lord of the Rings cast is extensive, so maybe he just couldn’t get a word in.

Look, it’s summer, and that means one of two things if you're a TV and movie fan. You can either go out and enjoy the warm weather, or you can turn up the A/C and hide from the heat by sitting on the couch and watching whatever you can find on your favorite streaming service. Honestly, I suggest the latter option.

I can guess what you’ve heard about Disney’s live-action Snow White and, while I personally thought Snow White was good, I know I’m in the minority on that. What I do know is that based on the Disney film's box office struggles, you probably haven’t seen it. So, if you have a Disney+ subscription, use it to check the movie out this week and come to your own conclusions.

FUBAR, Season 2 - June 12 (Netflix)

I’m not sure anybody was asking for a second season of FUBAR starring Arnold Schwarzenegger but, if you were one of the people who were holding on to your Netflix subscription waiting for it to arrive, good news. And, honestly, who doesn’t love Arnie enough to enjoy seeing the aging action hero have some fun as an aging CIA agent?

Deep Cover - June 12 (Prime Video)

Lighthearted comedies are exactly the sorts of movies we don’t see much of in theaters anymore, but they’ve found a home on streaming services. Deep Cover stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Blood, and Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammod as improv actors who are enlisted to go undercover and get in over their heads. It’s just the sort of silly premise you’ll only see at the movies, but there’s great comedy potential and, if nothing else, it’s great to see Orlando Bloom again.

Echo Valley - June 13 (Apple TV+)

Sydney Sweeney is one of the world’s hottest young stars, so it’s a safe bet that a lot of people will be using their Apple TV+ subscription to check out Echo Valley. The new thriller stars Sweeney as a young woman who enlists her mother’s (Julianne Moore) help to cover up the death of her boyfriend.

Jaws Franchise - June 15 (Peacock)

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the original Jaws. The movie is viewed by many as the original summer blockbuster so, if you’ve somehow never seen it or haven’t seen it in a long time, you’ll be able to do so again when the movie arrives on Peacock this week. Alongside it will come its three less-than-stellar sequels, in case you just have to watch them all.

It’s wild to think it's been almost a decade since the latest of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies came out. On top of that, it's also been over 20 years since the blockbuster franchise began. Despite how much time has passed though, Disney’s swashbuckling franchise remains a treasure for the studio, and within Orlando Bloom’s career. As the British actor recently promoted 2025 movie release, he recalled the time he needed to be convinced to play Will Turner. Not only that, but he also dropped thoughts on reprising his famed role.

Orlando Bloom Almost Turned Down Pirates Of The Caribbean For Being A ‘Crazy’ Idea

Earlier this year, Bloom spoke about having “a lot of respect” for his time on the Pirates movies. The 48-year-old actor also revealed -- while promoting his new film, Deep Cover -- that it actually took some convincing for him to buy into the concept of the film series. As he recalled to L’Officiel:

While the idea of making a movie out of a Disney theme park ride seems like a no-brainer these days. However, only a couple of those kinds of films had hit theaters before The Curse of the Black Pearl did in 2003, and they weren't that successful. So Orlando Bloom wasn’t sure it was a good idea. However, when he was offered the role, he was working with Geoffrey Rush (a.k.a. Captain Hector Barbosa of the Pirates series) on the film Ned Kelly. It was on that set that Rush assured Bloom it was a good idea to take the role, and now the latter jokes:

Orlando Bloom went on to star as Will Turner alongside Johnny Depp and Kiera Knightley in four out of the five Pirates of the Caribbean movies. To this day, Will remains one of Bloom's most beloved movie characters right behind Legolas in The Lord of the Rings films. I’m sure he’s grateful he listened to Rush!

Orland Bloom Shares Thoughts On Returning To The Pirates Franchise

That brings us to the future of Pirates of the Caribbean, which has remained in flux ever since the fifth movie hit cinemas in 2017. Over the years, there have been a lot of reports about what’s going on with the franchise. There have been claims that suggest both a reboot and continuation to the series starring Johnny Depp are in the works. Here’s what Bloom told ITV’s This Morning about his thoughts about returning as Turner (via Wales Online):

At the end of 2024, it was confirmed that there are two scripts for Pirates 6 in existence, one with Depp's Jack Sparrow and one without him. And, earlier this week, there was buzz regarding a rumor about Depp being in “advanced” negotiations with Disney to play the beloved pirate once again. At this time, we’re definitely taking those claims with a grain of salt for now. Nevertheless, it’s great to hear that Bloom is still up for more years after nearly turning down the franchise's original film.

It’s been nearly 30 years since the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The movie launched what would become one of the most successful movie franchises of all time and what is seen by many as the definitive version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic story. It also launched the career of a young Orlando Bloom, who would become an overnight movie star at all of 20 years old.

Bloom recently made an appearance at Washington D.C.’s AwesomeCon (via People) alongside his Lord of the Rings castmates, Sean Astin, Liv Tyler, and John Rhys-Davies. They discussed their experiences making the films, which, for Bloom, was quite eye-opening because he was just out of school and was performing alongside major names. Bloom explained…

Bloom only had a handful of, mostly television, credits before being catapulted into The Lord of the Rings. The franchise put him in films alongside the likes of Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, and John Rhys-Davies. Even other younger actors, like Sean Astin and Elijah Wood, while younger, had been acting for years longer.

Still, while Orlando Bloom may not have been sure how he got to where he was, he certainly took advantage of the position. The movies were all about people taking an epic journey, and Bloom took his own journey on the set and just let it all happen. He continued…

It had to be incredible for a 20-year-old having his first major movie experience, making what was actually three movies all at the same time. Bloom would become a franchise movie star as the Pirates of the Caribbean films would debut in the middle of the Lord of the Rings series, making him the star of two major trilogies at once. He was such a star so early that he's admitted that his career after those films was something of a struggle.

It’s no surprise that WB has been trying to recapture the magic of Lord of the Rings ever since the movies ended. We got three Hobbit movies that were financially successful, if not the critical darlings of the original trilogy. Now we have a Gollum movie on the way. Whether Orlando Bloom and company might appear is still a question, but considering what the franchise means to the actor, it would certainly make for an incredible conclusion to his journey.

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been one of the few live-action brands that Disney has seen success with outside of Marvel and Star Wars. However, following a fairly successful fifth outing, the film series has been in a holding pattern. Disney still insists that a new Pirates of the Caribbean is coming, but we have no idea when, or which characters will return. We’re still not expecting Johnny Depp to return, but could we see Orlando Bloom again?

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has repeatedly stated his hope that Johnny Depp will return for the next PotC movie, despite Disney’s statements that the franchise was moving on without him. While the passage of time makes a Depp return more plausible, EW recently asked another franchise star Orlando Bloom if we would be interested in returning for the next film. He left the door open, admitting he had fun the first time around, and so he’s at least open to the possibility. Bloom said…

After not appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Bloom appeared in a small role in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. His return, and a literal one-shot cameo by Kiera Knightley, allowed the franchise to put a button on their relationship and the franchise’s major outstanding plot point.

While Bloom admits to having fun making the Pirates films, Kiera Knightley has made recent comments that making the movies were tougher for her, indicating she has zero desire to return to the franchise. Bloom appreciates his time in the movies but understands that Knightley did not, saying…

At this point, a return of Orlando Bloom to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is as possible as anything else. There have been multiple movie projects in development for the series, including one that would have starred Margot Robbie, that movie is not the one currently in development, but Bruckheimer has said that making the movie in the future is still on the table.

Bruckheimer has also indicated that a return of Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is also a possibility. The more time passes, the more likely it is that Disney could change its mind on not including him in the next film.

If the next Pirates movie is a direct sequel to the last one or is even simply set in the same universe, then roles for Depp and/or Bloom are at least possible. The next film could also just as easily be a full franchise reboot, however. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, whenever it happens.

For the last several weeks when celebrities and parties have come up in the same sentence, it’s been a discussion of the parties thrown by Sean “Diddy” Combs that are the subject of a federal indictment against the rapper and mogul. Considering all of that, it's extra sweet to hear about Leonardo DiCaprio’s 50th birthday party, which looks to have been quite the shindig. And it apparently had a guest list that would make the Governor’s Ball at the Academy Awards blush, as it truly featured a murderer's row of celebrities.

Leonardo DiCaprio turns 50 years old today, November 11, but he held his party over the weekend. The guest list was shared by deuxmoi on Instagram, and it's absolutely staggering. There may have been even more stars in attendance, but this list alone is truly a who’s who of Hollywood. Being there had to be an incredible experience. Leonardo DiCaprio's father and stepmother were the only non-celebrities reported to be in attendance. It must have been a pretty amazing night for them, I'd think.

A few of these names are potentially surprising, but it’s very interesting to see who the Wolf of Wall Street star decided to invite to the event. He and Edward Norton have been friends for a long time. The same goes for DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, who were part of the same real-life poker game that inspired the movie Molly’s Game.

It's also great that Leonardo DiCaprio invited his Catch Me If You Can director Steven Spielberg. The same goes for Guillermo del Toro, who almost directed DiCaprio, as he was originally attached to star in Nightmare Alley before he had to drop out and was replaced by Bradley Cooper. I would have loved to have seen those two meet up at the party. If there’s a chance they could work together down the road that’s a very exciting prospect that they probably talked about.

DiCaprio’s One Upon A Time…In Hollywood co-star Brad Pitt -- along with his serious girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, -- was there, as was his Shutter Island co-star Mark Ruffalo. The Revenant star also invited a couple of people who it looks like he may have gotten to know in his role as a producer. DiCaprio produced Out of the Furnace, which included Casey Affleck in its cast. He also produced Kid 90, the documentary film directed by former Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye.

Needless to say, certainly looks like Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday party was the hottest ticket in town. Now I just need to figure out how to become his friend before next year.

Generations were brought up on the books, and Peter Jackson's film franchise (which is streaming with a Max subscription) was wildly successful. And following the Hobbit movies, that filmmaker is once again returning to Middle Earth with The Hunt for Gollum. Fans are wondering what beloved Lord of the Rings cast members might end up reprising their role alongside director Andy Serkis. And Orlando Bloom got real about returning as Legolas in the upcoming fantasy film.

Peter Jackson's new LOTR movie is still in development, but fans are definitely intrigued and questioning how it's going to go down. Folks are most interested to see if Lord of the Rings alums will appear, and Legolas seems like an obvious choice to bring back. Orlando Bloom was asked by Variety about this concept, saying:

That's a pretty hopeful message, all things considered. While the Pirates of the Caribbean star admits that it might be challenging to try and become his elven character again, he'd seemingly be down to try if Peter Jackson called. Talk about loyalty. 

Bloom mentions AI seemingly because, like the rest of the Lord of the Rings cast, he's aged quite a bit since wrapping. While Bloom was able to reprise his role as Legolas in the Hobbit movies, even that stopped back in 2014. It's been another decade, and Elves aren't exactly known for aging.

Later in that same interview, Bloom spoke about what he knows about The Hunt for Gollum. As we know, Peter Jackson is producing with Andy Serkis behind the director's chair (and playing the title role). The 47 year-old actor shared:

Whether this means that Legolas will appear in The Hunt for Gollum remains a mystery for the time being, but these comments by Bloom are sure to keep fan discussions going. Lord of the Rings fans are nothing if not passionate.

Since moviegoers re-watch LOTR on the regular, this new story is sure to be exciting. But whether or not the new movie is able to have the same box office draw as its predecessors remains to be seen.

We’re midway through April and after getting your taxes paid it seems to be it’s only fair that you be allowed to curl up on the sofa and ignore the world for a while. Netflix This Week: Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon And More

While many streaming services have a particular focus, Netflix does it all, so it almost always has something of note, but what that is often changes from week to week. This week that means a new season of a popular reality show and the epic conclusion to Zach Snyder’s epic original science fiction movie. 

The Circle: Season 6 - April 17

The social media influencer-based reality show The Circle has been a solid hit for Netflix. While the streamer cancels so many other projects early, the series is getting ready to launch Season 6 for Netflix subscribers and the new series promises new twists and turns as each member of the game attempts to influence their way to the win. The first batch of episodes drop this week, with more coming on April 24 and the season finishing up on May 1.  

Rebel Moon: Part Two: The Scargiver - April 19

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon was one of the most highly anticipated projects of last year, even before it became so big it became two movies. While the first part of Rebel Moon was met with harsh reviews, expectations are still high for part two, titled The Scargiver. Perhaps once the story is complete Rebel Moon will be better for it. 

Hulu This Week: Lily Gladstone And More

With Hulu now a full part of Disney+ for those who subscribe to both, access to the platform is that much easier for Hulu subscribers. This week’s offerings on the platform are certainly not the sort of content we expect from Disney. Highlights include a crime drama based on a true story and a reality series about drugs.  

Under the Bridge - April 17

True crime has been a popular genre when it comes to streaming documentaries but Under the Bridge brings something a little different to Hulu subscribers as the new series is a dramatization of the true crime book of the same name. It follows the events surrounding the disappearance of Reena Virk in 1997. With a cast that includes Riley Keough and recent Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone, there will likely be a lot of people looking to check this one out.

High Hopes: Complete Season 1 - April 20

Releasing a new reality series that follows the people who work at a marijuana dispensary on 4/20 may not be the most creative decision we can imagine, but it’s certainly on brand. High Hopes follows MMD, one of the oldest dispensaries in Hollywood, founded by a pair of brothers from Belarus. Whether or not you partake in pot or not, a look behind the curtain into the fairly new legal marijuana business will likely be enlightening for many.

Max This Week: Conan O'Brien And More

With an influx of content from Discovery, Max has become the streaming service if reality shows are your particular focus. However, this week’s highlights come from a pair of major returns, with a new show from Conan O’Brien and a sequel to one of HBO’s most popular documentaries.  

Conan O’Brien Must Go - April 18

Since his days on Late Night, Conan O’Brien has been something of a television staple. Following the end of his TBS talk show, the host has kept busy but has largely been off television. That changes this week. Conan O’Brien Must Go's premiere date is set for April 18. The new series is technically a travel show but ultimately looks like a series designed to let O’Brien unleash his trademark humor all over the world. For fans, that’s really all they need.

The Jinx Part Two- April 21

HBO’s The Jinx gave us one of the biggest moments in television history when the documentary series investigating criminal allegations against Robert Durst ended in a confession of murder. Now, Max subscribers get The Jinx: Part Two, a new series that covers the fallout from that epic moment and the eight years that followed from Durst’s arrest to his death in 2022.

Howard is reuniting with her Jurassic World Dominion director Colin Trevorrow for this project, as he’s one of the co-writers behind this Prime Video UK original. Here’s how Bryce celebrated kicking off production on the film, which is currently going by the title Deep Cover:

As one of the two leads alongside Orlando Bloom, there’s already a lot to look forward to with this project. Though I have a feeling we might see a title change in the future, as some might think we’re talking about a reboot of one of the best Laurence Fishburne performances ever committed to the screen. 

Rather this Deep Cover is a comedy where an improv group has been drafted to help the police run “low level sting operations.” But as further reporting from Deadline indicates, the more this band of performers says yes, the deeper they find themselves diving into danger.

Some aren’t so convinced that this is an open and shut case where Bryce Dallas Howard, or any of her Deep Cover co-stars, are guaranteed safety. That much applies to Sean Bean, as fans of Game of Thrones or almost any other project he’s been involved in know that he tends to die…a lot. Which makes the following fan comment on Ms. Howard’s post both funny and concerning: 

When we’re able to write a feature ranking Sean Bean’s best death scenes, that’s a sign that this sort of questioning is to be expected. The death of the honorable Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones’ first season was merely the kill that snapped it all into place for pop culture. So it feels rather valid for someone to question just how safe Sean Bean is in Deep Cover. 

The bright side to that sort of thinking is that the film’s writers may have already thought about this. Which means that this comedy involving an improv group has room for many death scenes to be improvised, whether it’s Sean Bean, Bryce Dallas Howard, or Orlando Bloom suffering those slings and arrows. In which case, Bean would be able to coach his co-stars in the art of a proper death, seeing as he’s had quite a bit of experience.

Deep Cover doesn’t look to have a release date set at the moment, but the Prime Video UK production is presumed to be headed for a streaming exclusive debut. So all of you Prime Video subscription holders around the world will eventually be able to stream it for yourselves; we just don’t know when. In the meantime, you can catch Bryce Dallas Howard facing danger in Argylle, a former streaming exclusive that made the jump into its current theatrical release.

Whether it's doing stunts or just freak accidents, even the biggest Hollywood stars aren't immune to getting injured on set. While we mostly think of stars chilling in their posh trailers while their stunt people take the biggest risks, sometimes it's the celebrities themselves who get the worst of things. Here is our list of big stars who have been injured while filming, and what happened after. 

Daniel Craig 

You can't just pick one of the James Bond movies that Daniel Craig was injured during the filming of, because the truth is, he's been injured a lot. In No Time To Die, it was his ankle, which required surgery and he was off-set for a couple of weeks recovering. In Casino Royale, he knocked out two teeth filming a fight scene. In Quantum of Solace, he injured his shoulder, and in Spectre, it was his knee. It's easy to see why Craig has retired from the role, filming James Bond movies can be dangerous. 

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise famously does many of his most intense and dangerous stunts himself. It's become his brand, but it doesn't mean he doesn't get hurt. In fact, while filming Mission: Impossible – Fallout, it was one of his more innocent stunts, jumping from building to building, that caused an injury when Cruise broke his leg landing the jump. Filming halted for a few months while Cruise recovered, but the footage was included in the movie. 

Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford has a long history of getting injured on movie sets. Maybe the most high-profile time was when a door fell on his leg while shooting Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He broke his leg and director JJ Abrams injured his back helping pull the door off the Han Solo actor. 

Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone is one of the premiere action stars of the last 50 years, and as such, he's been injured a few times on set doing stunts. The worst, according to Stallone, came while filming the boxing match with Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in Rocky IV. Lundgren hit him so hard in the chest at one point that it caused his heart to swell and he ended up in intensive care for eight days. 

Isla Fisher 

One of the best scenes in Now You See Me is when Isla Fisher's character performs the underwater escape trick. It wasn't so great for the actress though, as she nearly drowned during the filming. Luckily a stuntman was there to flip the safety switch and save her. 

Leonardo DiCaprio

One of the most intense scenes in Django Unchained is Leonardo DiCaprio's speech after dinner. He bangs his hand on the table and slices his hand on a glass. DiCaprio, ever the pro, kept going without missing a beat. It's so good, director Quentin Tarantino left that take in the final cut. 

Kristin Chenoweth

TV stars aren't safe either. Kristin Chenoweth was almost killed on the set of The Good Wife when part of the lighting rig fell on her. According to the actress, she had a "skull fracture and a rib issue and a hip issue" as a result. 

Bruce Willis

Like a lot of action stars, Bruce Willis has had his fair share of injuries in stunts gone wrong. In Live Free or Die Hard, the Hollywood legend suffered a serious cut above his eye that required stitches, after Maggie Q's stunt doubled kick him with high heels on. 

Mariska Hargitay

Sometimes, the extent of the injury isn't immediately understood, as was the case with Mariska Hargitay after a fall on the set of Law & Order: SVU. Hargitay performed a stunt that required her to land on some pads, but, in her words, something went wrong. She shook off the injury at first, but a few months later, she felt a sharp stabbing pain and ended up in the hospital with a collapsed lung. She recovered after surgery, though a second surgery was needed later. 

Charlize Theron

Æon Flux is not one of Charlize Theron's best movies, and it did almost leave her paralyzed. The actor fell on her neck performing a stunt and had she not been lucky and fallen just a centimeter differently, according to her, it could have been very bad. 

Malcolm McDowell

One of the more terrifying scenes in A Clockwork Orange is when Malcolm McDowell's character is "rehabilitated" by being forced to watch violent videos while his eyes are held open. For McDowell, it was even worse, as the setup caused his corneas to be scratched and he was blinded temporarily as a result. 

Brad Pitt

In the weirdest of coincidences, there is Brad Pitt in Troy. In the film, Pitt plays the Greek hero Achilles. Achilles is famous for one thing, his armor not covering that one tendon in a person's heel... Well, it just so happens that while filming Troy, Pitt tore his Achilles Tendon. 

Uma Thurman

During the filming of the Kill Bill movies, Uma Thurman crashed a car she was driving into a palm tree in Mexico and suffered injuries to her knees and a concussion. Years later she exposed what she claimed was a cover-up by the film's producers in an Instagram post. 

Orson Welles

The great Orson Welles really gave everything he had to make Citizen Kane. That includes chipping a bone in his ankle that forced him to use a wheelchair on set for two weeks while he directed. The injury occurred when he fell down some stairs while filming, and the scene made it into the final cut. 

Linda Blair

During the iconic scene in The Exorcist when Linda Blair's character, Regan, thrashes around as the bed levitates, the scream queen injured her back due to a mechanical default. The injury caused scoliosis, which still causes her problems today, though she's found ways to make it less painful. 

Jim Caviezel

The list of injuries that Jim Caviezel suffered while filming The Passion of the Christ has become the stuff of internet legend. Some injuries are hard to verify, but others aren't, the most notable of which is that as Caviezel prepared for the Sermon on the Mount scene, he was actually struck by lightning. That's got to be some sign, right?

George Clooney

The head injuries George Clooney sustained while filming the torture scene in Syriana were so debilitating that the actor says he even contemplated suicide. Eventually, doctors were able to alleviate the headaches after surgery, but in the meantime, Clooney called it "the most unbearable pain I've ever been through."

Orlando Bloom

There were a few injuries on the set of the Lord of the Rings movies, and one notable one was Orlando Bloom. Bloom broke some ribs when he fell from a horse while filming LOTR: The Two Towers. His fellow cast members gave Bloom a little...uh... ribbing in a behind-the-scenes video as well. 

Martin Sheen

There may be no more infamous Hollywood production than Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now. No one had it worse than the film's star, Martin Sheen. As told in the documentary about the filming, Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, Sheen not only suffered a near-fatal heart attack during production, but he also suffered a nasty cut on his hand. In the famous opening scene, Sheen punched a mirror and sliced his hand open and it bled badly. If you've seen the movie, you know what it looked like, because Sheen continued the scene and all the blood is very real.  

Michelle Yeoh

As an actor known for doing her own stunts, it's no surprise that Michelle Yeoh has been injured a few times on set. The most notable came when Yeoh tore her ACL during the production of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. She was flown from China to Baltimore where surgery was performed to fix the injury at Johns Hopkins. 

Tom Hanks

Sometimes the most innocent-sounding injuries can be the worst. Such is the case for Tom Hanks, who cut his leg filming Cast Away. While a cut doesn't seem all that serious, it caused sepsis and landed Hanks in the hospital, who almost died as a result of the blood poisoning. 

Buddy Ebsen

The Beverly Hillbillies star Buddy Ebsen could claim one of the weirder injuries on this list. Ebsen was the original actor cast to play the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz and as part of the role, he was painted silver. The aluminum powder in the paint caused a reaction that landed Ebsen in the hospital due to breathing problems and he was recast by actor Jack Haley in the role. 

Winona Ryder

Accidents happen, even on movie sets of comedies, not action movies. Such was the case for Winona Ryder while filming Mr. Deeds with Adam Sandler. While filming the scene on the bike in Central Park, Ryder took a tumble off it and broke her arm in three different places. Ouch. 

Matt LeBlanc

Injuries even happen on sitcoms. Even the biggest ones. While filming a scene for Friends, Matt LeBlanc fell into a chair and dislocated his shoulder. Production was delayed briefly, but the evidence is still on the screen, as LeBlanc was seen wearing a sling for a couple of episodes as his shoulder healed. 

Michael J. Fox

One of the scariest injuries didn't happen during a proper stunt. In Back To The Future III, Michael J. Fox almost died in the scene where his character, Marty McFly, is hanged. A mishap meant that he was actually getting choked and at first no one noticed. He passed out before he was lowered to the ground. 

Ed Harris

Ed Harris was almost killed while filming The Abyss. In one of the many underwater scenes in the movie, Harris ran out of oxygen and no one else on set realized he'd signaled that he did. He passed out from a lack of oxygen, but luckily someone finally noticed and they got him some air. 

Vincent D'Onofrio

Marine boot camp is intense, even for actors just playing Marines. Vincent D'Onofrio, who played Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket, injured his knee so badly during filming one of the training scenes that he ended up needing surgery to fix it. 

Melanie Griffith

One of the most notoriously dangerous movies ever shot is Roar by director Noel Marshall. In the 1970s, Marshall was married to Tippi Hedren, which also made him Melanie Griffith's stepfather. The movie filmed Hedren and Griffith (who was a kid at the time) living with lions. Real lions. According to legend, at least 70 people were injured by the big cats, including Griffith, who was "mauled near the eye" and needed plastic surgery to fix it. 

Jackie Chan

One actor you won't be surprised to see on this list is Jackie Chan. The martial artist and stuntman has pulled off some of the most insane stunts in film history, so it's no surprised he's been injured along the way. One notable time was while shooting Police Story. In one scene, Chan slides down a metal pole, which he did so quickly he suffered third degree burns on his hands. The shot was used in the movie. 

Al Pacino

Injuries can occur when actors don't quite make the best decisions. Take, for example the great Al Pacino. While filming a scene in Scarface, Pacino grabbed the business end of a gun that had just been fired and severely burned his hands. According to Brian De Palma, the actor was off for the next two weeks. 

Matthew Fox

Every now and then, one actor will injure another one, as is the case with Terry O'Quinn and Matthew Fox on the set of Lost. In a fight scene, O'Quinn stabbed Fox with a knife, which O'Quinn thought, incorrectly, was a prop knife, but it was very real. Thankfully, Fox was wearing a protective Kevlar vest that saved him from actually being stabbed. 

Dylan O'Brien

Dylan O'Brien was almost killed while shooting The Maze Runner: The Death Cure. While shooting a scene, the star of the movie was struck by a car. According to Vulture, O'Brien had a "concussion, facial fracture, and brain trauma among his injuries." Production on the movie was halted as he recovered, which, according to O'Brien, was one of the worst periods in his life. 

Dominic Purcell

Even without stunts and other action, injuries happen. Prison Break star Dominic Purcell broke his nose and had other facial injuries while filming for the show in Morocco. It was a freak accident as a lighting truss fell from the set and hit him. It could've been very scary, as those kinds of accidents have killed people, but luckily for Purcell, his injuries healed quickly and production on the show wasn't impacted.

Most of the time, when actors are injured on set, the injuries are minor, thankfully. Of course, that isn't always the case, and though deaths on movie sets are rare, they happen, so anytime someone is injured seriously, production is usually halted. Just looking through this list, you can see just how close some of these big names came to serious injury, and in a way, they're lucky (and we're lucky) that they are still around.

It’s safe to say that all of these actors have done okay for themselves over the years after making relatively small salaries throughout their career. But it’s still wild to think about Robert Downey Jr. only making half-a-million to play Tony Stark. What a steal.

Archie Madekwe leads the Gran Turismo cast as Jann Mardenborough, a young video gamer who makes his dreams of becoming a professional racer a reality by entering the GT Academy. Interestingly enough, the real Mardenborough also appears in the movie as his own stunt double.

Those who use their Apple TV+ subscription to check out See will surely recognize Madekwe from his portrayal of Kofun on the sci-fi drama series. The same can be said about people who love A24 horror movies, as the actor also appeared in Midsommar back in 2019. He also appeared in the Heart of Stone cast, which became a hit on Netflix earlier in August. Later this year, he’ll have a role in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn. 

David Harbour (Jack Salter)

David Harbour plays a massive role in the events of Gran Turismo with his portrayal of  Jann’s coach, Jack Salter, a former racer whose remarkable story goes beyond  yelling at gamers for puking in the movie’s first trailer.

All those Stranger Things fans will probably be flooded with memories (and anticipation for the show’s fifth season) while watching Harbour once again play the reluctant father-type role in Gran Turismo. Outside of playing the Hawkins police chief for the better part of the past decade, Harbour has also given incredible performances in movies like Violent Night, No Sudden Move, and Black Widow. He’ll be playing the Red Guardian in another upcoming Marvel movie when appears in Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts. 

Orlando Bloom (Danny Moore)

Orlando Bloom is another pivotal member of the Gran Turismo cast with his portrayal of Nissan marketing executive and GT Academy founder Danny Moore.

Throughout his career, Bloom has portrayed iconic characters like Legolas in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies, Will Turner in the various Pirates of the Caribbean films, and worked with iconic filmmakers like Ridley Scott, Cameron Crowe, and the late Wolfgang Petersen.  

Djimon Hounsou (Steve Mardenborough)

Djimon Hounsou shows up in Gran Turismo as Jann Mardenborough’s father, Steve, a former soccer player who doesn’t approve of his son’s obsession with video games.

A two-time Oscar nominee (In America, Blood Diamond), Hounsou’s film career goes back more than 30 years and includes appearances in decorated movies like Amistad, Gladiator, and A Quiet Place Part II. On top of that, the actor has also appeared in some of the best Marvel movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel, the Fast and Furious franchise, and so much more. With upcoming movies like Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, we’ll be seeing much more of Hounsou for years to come. 

Geri Halliwell (Lesley Mardenborough)

Taking on the role of Jann’s mother, Lesley Mardenborough, is Ginger Spice herself, Geri Halliwell.

In addition to being part of one of the most successful pop music groups of all time and finding fame with the Spice Girls, Halliwell has made several film appearances over the years. This includes acting in movies like Spice World, Fat Slags: The Film, and Crank: High Voltage, and showing up as herself on various reality and talk show programs. 

Daniel Puig (Coby Mardenborough)

Daniel Puig appears in Gran Turismo as Jann’s younger and more athletic brother, Coby Mardenborough.

This is Puig’s feature film debut, though he has appeared in various short films, made-for-TV movies, and series like Naomi over the course of the past half-decade. 

Darren Barnet (Matty Davis)

Darren Barnet appears in the Gran Turismo cast as Matty Davis, a well-skilled driver and intense competitor who becomes Jann’s biggest rival in the GT Academy program.

Prior to playing one of the best characters in Gran Turismo, Barnet was a major player of the Team Ben or Team Paxton drama on the popular Netflix original series Never Have I Ever. He’s also appeared on shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, and Skull Island.

Pepe Barroso (Antonio Cruz)

Pepe Barroso shows up in Gran Turismo as Antonio Cruz, one of drivers Jann befriends during the GT Academy competition.

The 2023 sports biopic was Barraso’s first film appearances, as all of his other roles have been on shows like 45 rpm, High Seas, and Patria. 

Maeve Courtier-Lilley (Audrey)

Maeve Courtier-Lilley appears in Gran Turismo as Audrey, Jann’s crush in Cardiff who eventually becomes a major supporter in his journey to becoming a professional racer.

Like several other members of the Gran Turismo cast, this is Courtier-Lilley’s feature film debut, with all of her other previous appearances being on shows like Casualty, The Outpost, and Doctors. 

Josha Stradowski (Nicholas Capa)

Taking on the role of the talented yet arrogant Nicholas Capa, who could best be described as the film’s antagonist, is Josha Stradowski.

Fans of the Amazon original series The Wheel of Time will probably recognize Stradowski from his portrayal of Rand al’Thor. His other notable appearances include shows like High Flyers and Spangas as well as movies like Instinct and Just Friends. 

Takehiro Hira (Kazunori Yamauchi)

Then there is Takehiro Hira, who takes on the role of Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the iconic Gran Turismo video game franchise.

Throughout his career, Hira has appeared in a few dozen movies and TV shows, though most will probably recognize him from his portrayal of Kenta in the G.I. Joe origin story, Snake Eyes in 2021. His other recent films include We Couldn’t Become Adults, Lost Girls & Love Hotels, and Erica 38. 

As you can probably tell by now, the Gran Turismo cast is one that is filled with both established stars and up-and-comers just starting to make their mark on the world, much like Jann Mardenborough in the movie. Several of those actors also happen to have some pretty major releases on the 2023 movie schedule, so don't be all that shocked to see a lot more from them in the coming weeks and months.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power heavily expanded the lore created by J.R.R. Tolkin years ago. While it mostly stays true to what longtime fans know, it also expands Middle-earth in some fresh ways and introduces some exciting new characters in the process. Among those new faces is the Silvan elf warrior Arondir, who’s played by Ismael Cruz Córdova. With his casting, Córdova made history as the first Latino actor to portray an elf in the long-running franchise. He’s quite proud to be a part of the beloved saga and recently opened up about crafting a character that looks like him while following in the footsteps of series alums like Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchett. 

A longtime fan of the epic fantasy property, Ismael Cruz Córdova came into Amazon’s ambitious production possessing a lot of respect for what had come before. Of course, the actor was in a very interesting position because, as mentioned, there’d never been an elf like his before. He was aware of the typical characteristics that are associated with his character’s breed. Nevertheless, he was conscious of the fact that he was going to have to bring something unique to the proceedings: 

I’d say that the 36-year-old Puerto Rican actor was successful, as Arondir certainly has a demeanor that parallels many of the famous characters that came before him. However, he also has a distinct vibe that’s very unique to him. While speaking with Gold Derby, the Miss Bala star went on to discuss the work of other elf actors, including Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving. They all played notable elves Legolas, Elrond and Galadriel, respectively. The ROP star specifically discussed how his approach compares to theirs while also sending a little bit of love their way: 

Ismael Cruz Córdova has done a great job in the role thus far, and a number of fans seem to have taken to the character. Unfortunately, there are some who haven’t been as high on the new elf or Córdova’s casting. The actor sadly faced “vicious” backlash after he joined The Rings of Power, though he mostly seems to have handled it well. And on a more positive note, he’s since received support from Orlando Bloom as well as numerous fans. The negativity has been disheartening to see, but it’s definitely wonderful that Bloom, Elijah Wood and more alums have been defending Córdova and the show’s other actors of color. 

Season 2 of the LOTR series is currently set for release in 2024, and Ismael Cruz Córdova will once again be a part of the cast. One can’t help but shake the feeling that there’s still a lot to be explored with Arondir, and I’d wager that Córdova is eager to continue the journey. Here’s hoping he’s able to further flesh out the character in interesting ways and simultaneously serve as inspiration for those who’ve been waiting for such an elf.

Not every video game is an easy fit to become a cinematic experience. For all of the Sonic The Hedgehog or The Super Mario Bros. Movie successes there are out there, there’s surely a Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li waiting to be hatched. And then there’s the rare exception where real life provides someone like director Neill Blomkamp with a real-life story, like the one in the 2023 new movie release Gran Turismo, that offers a new way into bringing a gaming franchise to life. Which, in turn, allows David Harbour to roast a gamer for puking on "his lawn." 

Sony released the first look at Blomkamp’s high octane biopic, which tells the true story of how gamer Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) parlayed his skills into actual race car driving. Showcasing a story that almost sounds like Rocky with race cars, Gran Turismo's trailer gives us a taste of the young man's life before and during the journey to make his dream come true. Serious determination, and good natured ribbing, all have a spot in this driver's seat; and it leads to Harbour getting one of the best moments in the trailer.

What we know about Gran Turismo also clued us into the all-star cast that joins Madekwe in driving this movie to the finish line. Both Orlando Bloom and David Harbour play mentors to Archie Madekwe's Mardenborough, offering inspiration and snark to drive the candidates enrolled in GT Academy. There's also quite a bit of Neill Blomkamp's visual flair present in this reel, as the race sequences look like they're going to be all time stunners. 

Though we see some pretty gorgeous racing action, Gran Turismo is a rare bird in the fact that it’s based on Mardenborough’s true story. Much like Apple TV+’s Tetris, Neill Blomkamp’s latest project has taken a tale where a video game franchise links to a story that actually happened. 

It’s probably the best way to adapt an open ended driving game of this nature to the big screen. What makes pictures like this special is the fact that reality was just fine for the team that brought Gran Turismo to the movies. All it took was a dream, a helicopter, and some David Harbour/Orlando Bloom squabbling to make it happen.

In a sense Neill Blomkamp’s first trailer for his video game adaptation is bittersweet. Way back when, the District 9 mastermind was in line to make the Halo movie that never was, leaving one of the greatest “what ifs” on the table of modern video game movies. 

Gran Turismo almost feels like a vindication, as he and his team have found a novel way to use an existing game franchise to create a biopic of real life drama. We probably won’t see Blomkamp’s Master Chief, and partaking in what he’s got in store with this lap around the movies just shows how much the powers that be lost out when that project collapsed. 

While we sit here and imagine what it would look like if David Harbour told someone not to puke on his lawn in a full Master Chief suit, let's keep in mind that Gran Turismo shifts into theaters on August 11. For all other upcoming video game movies looking to make a mark on the movies, you can find that information pretty easily. 

Orlando Bloom was once a major part of some incredibly popular movie franchises. Today, while he’s certainly still working, he’s largely moved away from those big action blockbuster movie series. However, Bloom says he wouldn’t be against returning to play Will Turner from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

After playing Will Turner in the original trilogy of Pirates of the Caribbean films, Orlando Bloom returned briefly to play the role again in the last film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Speaking with Parade, Bloom says he’d be interested in going back to play Will Turner again, just to see what sort of a character he is now. The actor explains…

At the end of the initial trilogy, Will Turner has taken on the captaincy of the Flying Dutchman, taking over from Davey Jones. In the most recent film, the son of Will and Kiera Knightley’s Elizabeth Swan works to break the curse and free his father. In the end, with some help from Captain Jack Sparrow, he succeeds. But how the years at sea have changed the man, that we do not know.

It would certainly make for an interesting Pirates of the Caribbean movie to see this idea played out. Unfortunately, the likelihood that we’ll ever see such a film seems pretty low. The only thing we seemingly know for sure about the future of the movie franchise is that it won’t include Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, and while that doesn’t mean it couldn’t still include Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, it seems unlikely they would revisit some of the characters while intentionally leaving out others. Though, it's always possible that if the next film is a sequel, Will Turner could be the character that connects the previous films to the new one.

We don’t know what the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise holds, but we do know there is a future. Multiple projects in the Pirates film series were in development, and while the one that would have starred Margot Robbie is apparently on the back burner, another project is reportedly moving forward with development. Whether the movie will be some sort of continuation of the franchise universe or something of the reboot variety, we’re still very much waiting to see. 

Orlando Bloom has been in a loving relationship with Katy Perry for the past 7 years. After his marriage with supermodel Miranda Kerr ended, he met the American Idol judge three years later. While he and Perry are still going strong, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor spoke honestly about why their relationship can be so “challenging" at times.

When her security guard picked up 10 In-N-Out burgers for her table, the Lord of the Rings star tried to snag her burger when he wasn’t even sitting at her table! From there, it was romantic bliss until the couple broke up a year later. However, despite being broken up, the British star expressed that the two of them were still on good terms with no room for hate. 

Their separation didn’t last long as it was reported these two A-listers spent some time together away from the public eye to give their love “a second chance.” They got back together in 2018 with a beautiful engagement one year later. Apparently, Bloom’s proposal to Perry involved a helicopter where the "Firework" singer thought they were going to see some art after they had dinner. However, the airlift was actually to a Los Angeles rooftop where they were welcomed by her friends and family. How romantic! The fun didn’t stop there for the engaged couple as they felt full-on excitement over the news that they would have a baby girl, Daisy Dove, who was born in 2020.

No one could have predicted that a movie based on a theme park attraction could attract multiple theme parks-worth of movie-goers into theaters around the world and spawn a massively successful, long-running franchise. However, that accurately describes the success of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies -- starring Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow, Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom as William Turner, and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann.

The trio would reunite with the main antagonist of the first film, Geoffrey Rush as Capt. Barbossa, but this time as an ally in what was initially said to be the third and final installment of the franchise. A decade-and-a-half has passed since the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End cast (also including Bill Nighy as Davy Jones, Naomie Harris as Tia Dalma, Chow Yun-fat as Sao Feng, and rock star Keith Richards as Jack's father) gathered for the high-seas adventure's world premiere. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has finally arrived, and it’s created quite a bit of buzz thus far. Unfortunately, not all of that attention has been positive, as the show has received racist backlash from a number of viewers. Some have taken issue with the fact that the show cast people of color to play an elf and dwarf. Ismael Cruz Córdova is one of the stars who’s unfortunately received hateful comments, though he’s also gotten plenty of support. And the latest person to show him some love is none other than LOTR alum Orlando Bloom. 

Orlando Bloom famously played the role of elf archer Legolas in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy and in the Hobbit films. So it’s quite fitting that he would shout out fellow elf Ismael Cruz Córdova. Bloom shared an Instagram post that included a photo of both him and Cruz Córdova and captioned the photo with the perfect word. Check out the post for yourself down below: 

The term “mellon” is the Sindarin and Noldorin word for “friend,” and it’s a truly sweet way for the Pirates of the Caribbean alum to signify his relationship with his fellow actor. And what’s even sweeter is that the Rings of Power cast member responded to the tribute. In the comments, he responded with “Big love mellon” and added a few nice emojis. The love and mutual respect that these two seem to have is definitely refreshing amid the wave of negativity that the show has received from some corners of the Internet.

The less-than-glowing audience responses to the Lord of the Rings show began even before the show premiered. And after it finally did drop, it was review bombed so hard that Amazon took action by disabling viewer reviews on Prime Video. Despite all of this, Rings of Power has received mostly positive reviews from critics and there are many fans that have taken to the fantasy series. 

Ismael Cruz Córdova has spoken about the “vicious” backlash he’s received since being cast as Arondir. Nevertheless, the actor seems set on carrying the proverbial torch in order to help the franchise move forward. Nazanin Boniadi, who plays human healer Bronwyn, also shared her take on the diverse LOTR casting. To her, the casting choices are “reflective, not only of the world we live in today, but of Tolkien's image of fellowship…”

Orlando Bloom isn’t the only person from that big-screen fellowship to lend his support to the franchise’s newest stars. OG hobbit Elijah Wood responded to the backlash, alongside former co-stars Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd and Sean Astin. In photos shared to social media, the actors sported gear that featured pointed ears of different shades. The attire also included the message ““You Are All Welcome Here” written in Black speech. 

While it’s unfortunate to see Ismael Cruz Córdova and his co-stars receive so much negative feedback, it is comforting to know that the OG LOTR stars have their backs. Hopefully, those positive vibes keep flowing as the first season of the show continues to play out.

The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, The Curse of the Black Pearl was a massive hit, even if some of the movie's co-stars, like Kiera Knightly, did not expect the success.  That first Pirates movie birthed a billion dollar franchise for Disney. There are a number of iconic characters and scenes in the film, but one of the best, without question, is the first meeting of Orlando Bloom's Will Turner and Johnny Depp's super popular Captain Jack Sparrow. It's an epic swordfight, but a professional fencing master as a big problem with the way Orlando Bloom handles his blade.

In a new video expert swordsman Dave Rawlings speaks with Insider and gives his opinions on a number of different classic sword battles in TV and film. When it comes to Pirates of the Caribbean, Rawlings has some good things to say about the fight, but he takes significant issue with Orlando Bloom's sword grip, saying...

It's almost certainly not the sort of thing that those of us that are not sword fighting experts would notice, but apparently Will Turner isn't the sword expert that he thinks he is in Curse of the Black Pearl, because his grip is such that he might lose his grip on the blade if he gets hit the right way from Jack Sparrow.

While Orlando Bloom's grip might be a problem, there are other elements of the fight that Rawlings does compliment. The distance that the two combatants keep from each other is generally appropriate and good strategy. He also says that the way the fight stars, with Jack Sparrow sliding his sword along the blade of Will Turner's sword, looks like Verdadera Destreza, a Spanish fencing system. It's maybe not the best example of it, but it's there.

The only other complaint lodged against this fight scene is the moment when Will Turner throws his sword in order to stick it into the wall to keep Jack Sparrow from leaving. Rawlings says the move is fine on its own, but due to the way the sword is weighted, Sparrow should have had a much easier time pulling it out.

Perhaps future Pirates of the Caribbean films will take this criticism to heart. As far as we know Disney still plans to continue the Pirates franchise. There are actually multiple projects in the work, including one that will star Margot Robbie. Perhaps she will learn to hold her sword right.

Dealing with added pressures like working long hours in totally different locations can make relationships that much harder. As we know, this is something that celebrities deal with quite often, as their seemingly glamorous jobs also tend to lead to them being away from their partners/families for long stretches of time. Distance has been cited as one of the reasons for the recent Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian breakup, but as Davidson is allegedly getting support from his co-star, Orlando Bloom, there are rumors swirling about the Carnival Row actor and Katy Perry.

Why Are There Rumors About Orlando Bloom And Katy Perry’s Relationship?

It can be difficult for many couples to maintain a strong romantic relationship, even under what appear to be completely ideal circumstances to most people, and celebrities seem to have an especially hard time staying together for the long haul. Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry have already had one major breakup that we know of, but now there are rumors that they might be headed for another split, because OK! Is reporting that he has now unliked most of Perry’s Instagram posts, with him not having liked her posts at all lately, as Bloom continues to post shirtless workout selfies.

Obviously, this is the kind of thing that one would only notice if already paying close attention to Perry and Bloom’s Instagram feeds, and it does kinda suck that if there really is trouble between them right now, something as simple as social media likes is the thing that tipped fans off. Even if only one fan noticed Bloom’s mass unliking of Perry’s posts as it happened, though, that automatically leads to basically everyone knowing about it. 

Bloom and Perry first went public with their romance in January 2016, and dated through March of the following year, breaking up in a way that Bloom once suggested had been amicable. They were back together by February of the next year, got engaged a year after that, and then welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, in late August of 2020. Unfortunately, while the story also notes that Perry and Bloom do still follow each other on Instagram, many fans are taking his action as yet another sign that things might not be great between the couple right now.

It was just earlier this month, on August 11, that Perry was seen getting very emotional during a concert as she sang the Whitney Houston hit “The Greatest Love of All”. While it’s very common for singers to get worked up when performing stirring songs such as that one, fans are now combining that incident with two instances early this year (the Met Gala and one of Perry’s appearances on American Idol) where she was without her engagement ring as signs that the couple may have hit a rough patch.

Neither Orlando Bloom or Katy Perry have said anything about him unliking her posts or any of this other supposed evidence of issues in their relationship, so fans should remember that there could be several reasons for all of the things that are being pointed to as bad signs. Hopefully, if anything really is wrong, they'll be able to work through it in time, and maybe Pete Davidson can now return the favor and offer a supportive ear to Bloom in return.

It’s important to have a good support system around you when going through something like a breakup, and it looks like Pete Davidson is ensuring that in the weeks following his split from Kim Kardashian. After reports that the former Saturday Night Live actor is seeing a trauma therapist due to the public attacks and negativity he endured from Kanye West during his nine-month relationship with the reality star, it appears Davidson is also turning to his A-list Wizards! co-star Orlando Bloom for support.

Pete Davidson had recently relocated to Australia temporarily for the filming of the David Michôd-directed comedy, and Kim Kardashian visited him for what was thought to be a sexy vacation Down Under. However, serious conversations ultimately led to the couple to break up, and even though he allegedly tried to “keep things professional” by avoiding talking about it on set, a source for Hollywood Life reports that his colleagues were concerned about him, leading Orlando Bloom to reach out with some advice. The source said: 

Apparently, the comedian struck up a friendship with the A-list Pirates of the Caribbean actor enough to feel comfortable talking to him about his split from the SKIMS founder and her famous family. The source said Orlando Bloom drew on his own experiences and that Pete Davidson was grateful to have an understanding ear. The source continued:

While giving his ex-girlfriend space is good advice, distance might have been one of the biggest issues between Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson. They were already engaging in a long-distance relationship prior to his travels across the globe, and that, along with being at different places in their lives, were reportedly the main factors in Kim and Pete’s decision to break up. (It definitely wasn’t for lack of chemistry!)

The couple had appeared to be getting increasingly serious since they first connected during her guest hosting gig on Saturday Night Live last October. Pete Davidson had spoken about his dream of having children, and he was even seen out and about with Kimye’s son, Saint. Sources alleged the Meet Cute actor and Kim Kardashian weren’t quite ready to take that next step just yet, however. Instead, they were said to be putting their time into making the relationship work.

Pete Davidson has a lot of upcoming projects since he left SNL, so hopefully his work will help to keep his mind occupied as he navigates this breakup, and it’s good to know he’s got supportive people around him. We’ll still be able to see him and Kim Kardashian in happier times when The Kardashians Season 2 premieres to Hulu subscribers on Thursday, September 22. Orlando Bloom became a big name in showbiz in the early 2000s thanks to the Lord of the Rings film trilogy and his debut as Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but he sustained an injury at the age of 19 that could have changed the entire course of his career. He was once told that he would never walk again, but in a new shirtless workout video post on social media, he looks back on that injury and how far he has come by the age of 45.

In a recent Instagram post, Orlando Bloom shows off his abs and impressive back muscles while also looking back at the time a doctor told him he would never walk again. Obviously, he beat those odds, and I have a feeling some serious exercise helped him do it. You can check out the post below, including a couple videos that certainly show off his dedication to staying fit and mobile:

According to Orlando Bloom, he was 19 when he broke his back and a doctor told him he would never be able to walk again. This would have been at the very beginning of his career in the late ‘90s, and while the news would be devastating for pretty much anyone, the added factor of the end of a potential flourishing Hollywood career would be enough to completely destroy the morale of even the strongest of people. 

Apparently Orlando Bloom didn’t let it get him too down, though, because just a few years later he would emerge as the elf Legolas in one of the most iconic fantasy franchises, well, ever. His role in The Lord of the Rings not only had him walking, but running, lunging, and jumping as he helped escort Frodo towards Mordor and fight enemies along the way. 

That is one serious recovery, and while he didn’t moon us in this post, you can even see the long scar along his spine in the last video. The scar is minimal, though, and his many muscles are definitely the dominating features of his back.

Orlando Bloom might not be in the upcoming Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Amazon series, but he remains a big part of the culture behind the franchise, and his contribution to the original film trilogy is even more impressive considering his back was broken not too long before filming the first movie. 

While the upcoming LOTR series won't premiere until September of this year, those with an Amazon Prime subscription will be able to stream the show and enter Middle Earth from the comfort of their own home in just a few months. You can also revisit the LOTR trilogy featuring Bloom streaming now with an HBO Max subscription. 

On December 28, 2001, Ridley Scott released one of the loudest, most violent, and most realistic  war movies with Black Hawk Down. The military epic, which is based on the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, is filled with some of the best actors of the time, with everyone from seasoned acting veterans like the late Sam Shepard to up-and-comers like Tom Hardy portraying actual Army Rangers and Delta Force operatives as well as characters based on the likeness of others.

A lot of time has passed since the Black Hawk Down cast provided engaging and sometimes harrowing performances in the tense and hectic war drama, and you may be curious to know what they’re up to now. You have come to the right place if that’s the case.

Josh Hartnett (Matt Eversmann)

Josh Hartnett was one of most bankable young stars in Hollywood by the time he joined the Black Hawk Down cast as Staff Sergeant Matt Eversmann in 2001, with movies like The Faculty, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, and Pearl Harbor under his belt.

More recently, Josh Hartnett has continued to find success on both the big screen and small screen, with everything from Wrath of Man to Ida Red and Paradise Lost to Exterminate All the Brutes coming out since 2020. The former teen heartthrob will next appear in The Long Way Home and The Fear Index.

Eric Bana (Norm “Hoot” Gibson)

Already a massive star in his native Australia by the time Black Hawk Down came around in December 2001, Eric Bana got one of his first big breaks in Hollywood with his portrayal of Delta Force Sergeant First Class Norm “Hoot” Gibson.

In the years following the release of Ridley Scott’s gritty war drama, Eric Bana appeared in Hulk, Troy, Munich, and Star Trek, and has continued to remain a busy actor with recent movies like King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Dry, and Back to the Outback. He’ll next appear in the upcoming drama Blueback.

Ewan McGregor (John “Grimesey” Grimes)

Ewan McGregor gave a tremendous performance as Army Rangers Specialist John “Grimesey” Grimes in Black Hawk Down, a movie that came out in the middle of one of the Scottish actor’s most successful runs (the film was released between Moulin Rouge! and Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones).

No surprise here, but Ewan McGregor has remained just as successful and just as prolific in the two decades since he went from a desk clerk to combat soldier, with Doctor Sleep, Birds of Prey, and The Birthday Cake all coming out since late 2019. McGregor will also take on the role of his famous Jedi master once more in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Tom Sizemore (Danny McKnight)

Just a few years after Saving Private Ryan and only months following the release of Pearl Harbor, Tom Sizemore tried his hand at the military drama genre with his portrayal of Colonel Danny McKnight in Black Hawk Down. 

Despite extensive legal trouble over the years, Tom Sizemore has remained one of the busiest figures in Hollywood (he appeared in 28 movies between 2017 and 2018), and has continue to appear in multiple film and TV projects like Twin Peaks, Adam, and Central Park Dark.

William Fichtner (Jeff Sanderson)

Following successes like Heat, Armageddon, and The Perfect Storm, William Fichtner went on to portray Sergeant First Class Jeff Sanderson in Black Hawk Down.

Here more recently, William Fichtner has shown up in everything from 12 Strong to The Space Between on the film side of things with appearances on TV including Mom, Veep, and Corporate. At some point in the near future, Fichtner will try his luck again at the small screen with the upcoming Peacock series Joe Exotic which is to feature the actor as the Tiger King’s former producer Richard Kirkham.

Sam Shepard (William Garrison)

The late Sam Shepard, who found a great deal of success as an actor, playwright, author, and director, portrayed Major General William F. Garrison in Black Hawk Down.

In the years prior to his 2017 death at the age of 73, Sam Shepard appeared in Midnight Special, Never Here, and Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese (though the film wasn’t released until 2019). He also appeared on the Netflix series Bloodline shortly before his passing.

Jason Isaacs (Mike Steele)

Jason Isaacs, who made a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s leading villainous actors with The Patriot and later the Harry Potter franchise, showed up in a less evil role in Black Hawk Down as Captain Mike Steele.

More recently, Jason Isaacs has appeared on Star Trek: Discovery, Sex Education, and Castlevania, as well as movies like Mass, Scoob!, and Hotel Mumbai. Isaacs has multiple projects in the works, including Spinning Gold and Henry VIII: Man, Monarch, Monster.

Ewen Bremner (Shawn Nelson)

One of the many actors who appeared in both Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down, Ewen Bremner shows up in the latter as Specialist Shawn Nelson.

Over the course of the past five years, Ewen Bremner has appeared in T2 Trainspotting (reprising his role from the 1996 original), Wonder Woman, First Cow, and Creation Stories to name a few. He will soon appear in the upcoming HBO Max series Our Flag Means Death.

Orlando Bloom (Todd Blackburn)

Just as he was becoming an overnight sensation with the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Orlando Bloom took on another memorable role as Private First Class Todd Blackburn in Black Hawk Down.

Since the December 2001 release of the violent war drama, Orlando Bloom has become an international superstar with franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Hobbit (where he reprised his LOTR role). Bloom is currently one of the leads on the Amazon series Carnival Row.

Tom Hardy (Lance Twombly)

Not long after he found a place on the Band of Brothers cast, Tom Hardy stuck with military dramas as Specialist Lance Twombly in his feature film debut. 

Since then, Tom Hardy has become and remained one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood balancing comic book adaptations like The Dark Knight Rises and Venom with dramas like The Revenant and Dunkirk. Hardy will next appear in Gareth Evans upcoming crime thriller Havoc.

Kim Coates (Chris Wex)

Already an established name in show business by the time he joined the Black Hawk Down cast as Master Sergeant Chris Wex, Kim Coates has continued to find success in film and TV in the past 20 years.

The Sons of Anarchy and Prison Break star has recently appeared on shows like Tangled: The Series, The Crew, and Van Helsing, as well as movies like Fantasy Island, See for Me, and Donkeyhead.

Ioan Gruffudd (John Beales)

Ioan Gruffudd had already appeared in movies like Titanic and Another Life by the time he was cast as Lieutenant John Beales in Black Hawk Down, but his career would take off even more years after with Fantastic Four (and its 2007 sequel), King Arthur, and W.

More recently, Ioan Gruffudd has appeared in movies like The Professor and the Madman, Buttons, and Ava, as well as TV shows like Liar and Harrow.

Hugh Dancy (Kurt “Doc” Schmid)

Hugh Dancy made his feature film debut in Black Hawk Down as Sergeant First Class Kurt “Doc” Schmid, but it certainly wouldn’t be his last.

Following the success of The Jane Austen Book Club, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and Martha Marcy May Marlene, Hugh Dancy landed roles in more recent film productions like Late Night and the soon-to-be-released Downton Abbey: A New Era. Dancy will also appear on Law & Order Season 21 in early 2022..

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Gary Gordon)

Before he became known for his portrayal of Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau took on the role of Delta Force operative Master Sergeant Gary Gordon in Black Hawk Down.

Since completing his role in the divisive Game of Thrones Season 8, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has portrayed the titular character in a 2020 production of Macbeth, The Silencing, and A Taste of Hunger, with several upcoming projects on the way including Against The Ice and God is a Bullet.

Jeremy Piven (Clifton Wolcott)

Though more associated with comedic roles, Jeremy Piven showed up in Black Hawk Down as Clifton Wolcott, the pilot of the doomed Super 61 helicopter. 

In the years following the release of Black Hawk Down, Jeremy Piven would land one of his most iconic roles when he was cast as Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage (and the 2015 film adaptation). Recently, Piven has shown up in Last Call, American Night, and the soon-to-be-released All-Star Weekend alongside Jamie Foxx.

Ty Burrell (Timothy A. Wilkinson)

And then there is Ty Burrell, who has a brief appearance as Technical Sergeant Timothy A. Wilkinson in Black Hawk Down.

In the years following the film’s release, Ty Burrell would find success, first in Zack Snyder’s 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake and then on a much larger scale as Phil Dunphy on the long-running Modern Family. Since the landmark series completed its run in 2020, Burrell has voiced Jack Harris on the animated series Duncanville.

This is just a little more than a dozen of the actors who appeared on the Black Hawk Down cast, as including every single name would take a very long time. If it has been forever since you watched Ridley Scott's Academy Award-winning war drama, now's the perfect time as it is one of the best movies on HBO Max.

Ready to feel older than Elrond? The Fellowship of the Ring, the first movie in The Lord of the Rings film series, was released in theaters twenty years ago as of December 19, 2021. After emotionally recovering from that bombshell, fans were saved from a bout of existential dread by a flurry of awesome throwbacks on social media - including an addition from none other than Orlando Bloom. 

Orlando Bloom, known to the denizens of Middle Earth as Legolas, shared a cool Lord of the Rings throwback to commemorate the first film’s 20th anniversary ahead of Amazon’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings streaming series. Check out his post below: 

Fans were treated to an action shot that featured Legolas in all of his platinum blonde splendor as he took aim on his longbow atop an armored horse. The snapshot was accompanied by Apple’s elf emoji (it bears a striking resemblance to a certain prince of Mirkwood) and a caption that read "They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard." Cue the electronic rave remix. It’s unclear which film set the photo is from, but The Two Towers would be my educated guess.

Somewhat serendipitously, the 20th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring is quite close to the upcoming release of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings streaming series. Don’t let the title fool you: it’s not a reboot (some things are sacred). Rather, the show will be partly be based on material from The Silmarillion. J.R.R. Tolkien’s massive tome recounts the creation of Middle Earth and the events comprising the First and Second Ages. The Third Age (when LOTR takes place) is briefly mentioned, but most of the story is laid out in the actual trilogy. 

Amazon’s series will cover the Second Age, an era that saw the initial rise and defeat of Sauron, the forging of the One Ring and the introduction of the Nazgul. While Orlando Bloom isn’t likely to reprise his role as Legolas, fans don’t have to despair. At least three major characters from The Lord of the Rings have been confirmed to appear on the show, including Galadriel, Elrond and Sauron. There’s no word on who will portray Elrond or Sauron, but the younger version of Galadriel will be played by Morfydd Clark (His Dark Materials). 

Whether Legolas appears in the new series or not, it’s clear that both Orlando Bloom and the fans are still entranced by the magic of Middle Earth. Are you yearning to revisit the Misty Mountains and the verdant Shire? The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King (including the gargantuan extended edition) are all available to stream now on HBO Max. Need more? Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy is also locked and loaded on the streaming service. 

I think it’s safe to say at this point that Orlando Bloom is an actor who enjoys being in the buff. Around five years since he famously went naked on a paddleboard with his bikini clad then-girlfriend Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom was bumming around this weekend. And by bumming around, I mean mooning the camera after a nice-looking swim.

When the Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean and Carnival Row fan favorite decides to take a break, he relaxes in a notable manner. This weekend, he shared a post swimming in what was (presumably) the buff and then later cheekily even mooned the camera, sharing with his fans. There’s actually a family on the other side of the lake when he does this, but he’s holding a towel or clothing item in a particularly strategic place. To note, he's basically covered in the post, so it's basically safe for work, as long as your boss doesn't mind you mooning over naked celebs...

Some of Orlando Bloom’s pals and co-stars shot over emojis and comments on the Instagram post, but my favorite came from veteran producer and actress Roma Downey, who simply responded “peachy.” Josh Brolin -- a dude who also seemingly likes to be naked and once even shared Thanos' butt on social media -- also shot the LOTR actor some positive vibes in the form of rock on emojis.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry, who is now engaged to her partner, has spoken out in the past about Orlando Bloom’s other infamous -- and full frontal -- moment in the papers. She said that Bloom was sort of in European mode when he went naked on the paddleboard and some photographers caught photos of the couple. The images were striking because she was clothed and he totally wasn't, but Perry has said it wasn’t a setup for the paparazzi and she simply had wanted to keep her own suit on. She told Howard Stern last year:

Years later, it looks like Orlando Bloom is still occasionally letting it all hang out in the sunshine. Honestly, he looks like he’s loving every minute of it. Not a bad way to celebrate reaching the end of the dog days of summer. He deserves a break, particularly given the lengthy shoot and waiting game the actor has played ahead of the release of Season 2 of his Amazon series Carnival Row. We'll keep you updated when we have more info about what's coming up for the actor, but in the meantime if he decides to get cheeky again, I'm sure his fans will support it.

Considering how prevalent royal family fandom has been here in the U.S., it's not so surprising that HBO Max execs thought it a good idea to order a comedic animated series from a Family Guy writer/producer, with Game of Thrones vets Sophie Turner and Iwan Rheon, as well as Lord of the Rings alum Orlando Bloom. But more than a few people on social media are blasting the new series for its insulting portrayal of the younger generation of royals, especially in the aftermath of everything involving Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in the past year.

In The Prince, creator and Family Guy scribe Gary Janetti voices a heightened version of Prince George that makes the eight-year-old a foul-mouthed brat full of ego-driven demands. Meanwhile Sophie Turner portrays the six-year-old Princess Charlotte in similar ways that, while satirical in nature, certainly wouldn't be described as "nice" or "innocent." Orlando Bloom and Billions' Condola Rash?d voice The Prince's versions of the limelight-tethered Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, and the same comedic pattern continues across the board.

While it's as unclear as ever just how much the people speaking out against a particular TV show have actually watched that particular TV show, many complaints about The Prince's F-bomb-laden content look something like the comment below.

At this point, shows like Netflix's super-popular Big Mouth and MTV's cult classic Wonder Showzen have depicted some of the worst behavior possible from live-action and animated children, so The Prince is following in those same spiritual footsteps. Still, while some think that the specific children being satirized on the show presents the real problem, others don't think that shows like this should use children as the main characters at all.

Going a little deeper than just the show's NSFW subject matter, themes, and language, a number of The Prince's critics directed their disgust at Sophie Turner in particular, calling her out for taking part in this child-mocking series while at the same time publicly calling out anyone paparazzi and anyone attempting to spread photos around of her own child with Joe Jonas.

Given that Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry had a child together nearly a year ago, with fans also calling him out for his and Perry's public views regarding child privacy issues.

And then there are others who aren't even calling the show out for its depiction of royal family youths, but rather for just not making them laugh. So I guess it's a different kind of slamming, but there are definitely a lot of comparisons out there between Prince George and Family Guy's Stewie Griffin, such as this one:

To be sure, it's hard to argue that people complaining about The Prince make up the majority of those talking about it on social media. Plenty of messages have been posted speaking in high favor of the show's comedy, and some of them even take into account the understanding why it isn't for everyone, and why it would be offensive. Not everyone was so kind, of course, but such is Twitter.

The Prince debuted on HBO Max on July 29, with all twelve episodes available to stream right this moment. We'll just have to wait and see how well it does on the service before talking about Season 2's chances, but definitely check out everything hitting the small screen soon with our 2021 Fall TV schedule.

Katy Perry is, absolutely, a great singer / songwriter who's brought us some of the best pop hits of the past 13 years. But, none of us can doubt the American Idol judge's ability to bring the heat when it comes to stepping out in some looks guaranteed to bring a of attention, whether that's for her fashion-forward nature, or simple, wack-a-doo brilliance which shows that Perry isn't afraid to have fun of herself and doesn't take life too seriously. Now, though, you can see her borrow fiancé Orlando Bloom's Lord of the Rings elf ears for Idol's Disney episode.

With fashion choices which have long been a major topic of conversation, just this season of American Idol has seen Katy Perry show up in several goddess-esq outfits, an ensemble (complete with hat) which made her look a bit like a sexy cow, and a busy flower-power print topped off by peace sign earrings. But, for Idol's Disney Night performances, the star went all out, and donned elf ears and a fairy costume so that she could judge the show as Tinker Bell. And, if she's not wearing Orlando Bloom's Legolas ears, well, I'll be very disappointed. Take a look at her Instagram post!

Perry posted a quick behind the scenes video of her preparing for the full look to give fans a tease of her American Idol appearance last night, and, as usual, the superstar went all out to give us something unexpected, unnecessary and totally fabulous. I was about to wonder aloud about why her co-judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, didn't also come outfitted as their favorite Disney characters for the event, but I guess it could be said that Katy Perry did have a Leg-olas up when it came to getting ready for the most recent episode of the competition. (Disapprove if you must, but you know I had to do that, right?)

She clearly had fun getting dolled up in the full Tinker Bell look, which also included very accurate wings, the dress, shoes, and an appropriate wig. Katy Perry even dyed her eyebrows a much lighter blonde to match said wig, which I don't quite get, because Tink does usually sport a slightly darker eyebrow. At any rate, no one can claim that Perry didn't throw her full goofy self into playing a little bit of make believe for American Idol.

In case you're wondering whether or not Perry's fiancé (and baby daddy) was annoyed at her copping his Lord of the Rings style, before you get your Bloom-ers in a twist (I'm at it again!), know that Orlando Bloom responded to her post with fire emojis to bookend a female elf emoji, heart emoji, and male elf emoji. So, I think it's likely that he was completely on board.

For many of us, Hollywood seems like a strange land full of people who live totally unreal lives. For the most part, it seems that that’s just a stereotype and that the famous people in Hollywood actually have a lot of the same habits that everyday people have, like walking their dog down the street or going to the grocery store in sweats. However, every once in a while we’ll get a glimpse into the life of a celebrity and be completely bewildered. Case in point: Orlando Bloom, who has put people in a state of wonder after sharing his insane morning routine. And the internet definitely has thoughts.

Orlando Bloom has been pretty well out of the limelight since his last appearances in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, with the exception of his role in Carnival Row a couple years ago, which made some waves. It sounds like the actor has been pretty busy though, because in between smaller roles, getting engaged to pop star Katy Perry, and having a daughter, Bloom has been having an entire spiritual awakening before the sun is even up everyday. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Bloom laid out how he starts his day and it’s pretty wild. Here it is in his own words:

I mean, good for you, Orlando Bloom. You get props from the girl who will only get out of bed for the promise of coffee. The rest of the internet isn’t so nice, though. Twitter is running rampant with mockery of Bloom, who I now suspect is kind of superhuman. One Twitter user shared his interview thinking it may have been a spoof, but sometimes the truth is funnier than any joke:

While it probably sucks for Orlando Bloom to be suddenly relevant again just to be the butt of jokes, I certainly hope he’s seeing the humor in some of these Tweets, because they are honestly hilarious. A ton of Twitter users are comparing Bloom to Patrick Bateman, the serial killer in American Psycho. Here’s one such Tweet where you can really see where the comparison stems from:

You’ve got to admit, they are honestly eerily similar. Keep it up Orlando Bloom, you may just find yourself on a list somewhere of possible suspects. Another otherworldly perspective, though, is one of a parent. One Twitter user points out that Bloom is a father to a young child now, and his parenthood journey looks wildly different than most of us normies:

All jokes aside, though, are we really going to down a guy for having a seemingly ultra healthy lifestyle and a love of cows?
