Despite portraying one of Marvel’s most celebrated’s heroes, Vision actor Paul Bettany has very rarely been seen on-screen within the MCU in his most human form, and that was after establishing his voice-only role as J.A.R.V.I.S. The Brit will be front and center for the upcoming Marvel series VisionQuest, both a spiritual and direct continuation of WandaVision, and everyone amped up to watch his latest performance can apparently thank a seldomly namechecked 2011 box office flop.

VisionQuest is hitting the 2026 TV schedule in October, more than 15 years after the release of Scott Stewart’s 2011 action-horror Priest, in which Bettany plays a theocracy-backed vampire killer with a cross smack-dab in the middle of his face. Despite its stacked cast — the callsheet also included Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Christopher Plummer and more — Priest earned much critical scorn and only grossed $29.1 million domestically, less than twice that of its $14.9 million opening weekend. (It made $79 million worldwide against a $60 million budget.)

For all that it isn’t remembered so fondly outside of a dedicated fanbase, Priest apparently has the distinction of being a catalyst for Joss Whedon casting Paul Bettany as Vision casting, which the actor explained in an episode of Happy, Sad, Confused (via YouTube). In his words:

At the time, it was reported that Priest also pushed its January premiere date back to provide the time needed to convert the film into 3D, with the idea that the format upgrade would be the ticket to bringing in audiences. With Bettany's comments, it sounds like Green Lantern's 3D appeal was part of the reason why Sony went all in on the post-production conversion.

It was a tough landscape for a movie trying to play into superheroic characters without being either a Christopher Nolan movie or one of Marvel's Phase One releases. But if nothing else, it gave Bettany a cinematic platform where his action and stunt talents could be witnessed by others, such as Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige. Arguably the best

Landing Vision understandably helped Bettany's state of mind at a time when he felt the brunt of Priest's lack of impact as a summer release.

Certainly, Bettany was already of known value to Feige & Co. for his work as J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Iron Man movies and The Avengers, but more for his soothing voice than his robotic innards. If not for Priest, WandaVision might not exist, and that just isn't a reality I want to get used to.

Priest doesn’t seem to be available to watch on any major streaming platforms at the moment, while Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern can be viewed via HBO Max subscription. But I guess Bettany came out ahead in the end, considering he’ll be reprising Vision to head up his own TV show 15 years after Priest, while the same can’t be said for the actor and DC hero. (Case in point: Lanterns’ newest trailer dropped.)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always expanding, thanks to new projects arriving in both theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. While there are plenty of upcoming Marvel movies to look forward to, the same can also be said for the forthcoming TV series VisionQuest. That show will (obviously) star Paul Bettany, who keeps using the same word to describe James Spader's return as Ultron.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order are thrilled that James Spader will finally return to the shared universe as Ultron. While it's unclear exactly how he'll factor into the story, Bettany recently spoke about what it was like collaborating on VisionQuest. During an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the WandaVision star said:

Honestly, this tracks. Spader is a uniquely charismatic talent, and he absolutely crushed it as the titular villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron. And while he voiced the character in What If...?, his role in VisionQuest will be the first significant appearance of the character in a decade. Luckily, it sounds like the Blacklist actor delivers big time in the mysterious Marvel series.

VisionQuest is expected to complete the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Both of those shows were beloved, so the pressure in on. In the same interview, Paul Bettany also used "delicious" to describe James Spader, saying:

I don't know about you, but I'm going to need a trailer for VisionQuest ASAP. The series will presumably feature some much-needed answers about Bettany's character after the WandaVision finale, although exactly how Ultron will factor into the story remains a mystery. Fingers crossed we get some information, although anticipation for the project will likely remained buoyed regardless.

I'm pretty obsessed with how "delicious" Paul Bettany says Spader is VisionQuest, and it sounds like they're going to have some great chemistry when the series arrives on Disney+ in the fall. During his same interview, the Solo actor hyped up their collaboration on the show, offering:

Not much is known about VisionQuest, but it sounds like Ultron will be a major part of the narrative. And James Spader is expected to appear in both robot and human forms... somehow. I need more info ASAP!

All will be revealed when VisionQuest debut on Disney+ October 14th as part of the 2026 TV schedule. It's unclear when the first footage will debut, but I have to assume it'll be sometime this summer.

There are major franchises, and then there's the Wizarding World. The property has entertained audiences for decades thanks to the novels, theme parks, stage plays, video games, and, of course, the Harry Potter movies (which are streaming with an HBO Max subscription). Soon, we'll return to Hogwarts with an upcoming TV series, with fans curious about who will play various beloved characters. And actor Paul Bettany had an A+ response when asked about rumors he might be the new Voldemort.

The upcoming Harry Potter TV show already has a ton of hype around it, with fans hoping it'll be a more accurate book-to-screen adaptation. There are plenty of names being tossed around online to replace Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort, and in a clip from ScreenRant's Twitter, Bettany was asked about the possibility of playing He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. After saying "it's just a rumor", the Da Vinci Code actor offered:

Honestly, can you blame him? Having to wear facial prosthetics is a big-time commitment for major TV and film projects, one that can be both uncomfortable and even cumbersome when performing. He's already done a number of roles that required him to sit in the makeup chair, and it sounds like he'd rather not have to do that in order to portray Voldemort in the forthcoming Harry Potter TV series.

Folks who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order likely know what roles Paul Bettany is referencing in these comments. Namely, his ongoing role as Vision in the MCU, which will continue with the upcoming series VisionQuest. Additionally, he wore facial prosthetics as the villainous Dryden Vos in Solo: A Star Wars Story. So who can blame him for not wanting to sign up for years of playing Voldemort?

Of course, Ralph Fiennes' Harry Potter look wasn't pulled off simply by makeup; CGI was used to give him Voldemort's snake-like nose. But not only has Paul Bettany shut down the rumors of him playing the iconic villain, but it sounds like the makeup involved is reason enough for him not to put his spin on The Dark Lord.

Whoever ends up being the Harry Potter show's Voldemort is going to have some very big shoes to fill, given how acclaimed and iconic Ralph Fiennes' performance was. And while Bettany isn't interested, other actors like Andy Serkis have expressed interest. We'll just have to wait and see who ultimately lands the gig.

The Harry Potter TV series will premiere on December 25th as part of the 2026 TV schedule. For now, the movies can be re-watched on HBO Max.

In a post shared to his Instagram, Bettany pulled back the curtain on one of those oddly specific perks of working in the MCU. During filming, productions create detailed busts of actors like him, who plays Vision, so the crew can light and frame shots without needing the actor physically there—totally normal filmmaking stuff. What’s less normal is what he decided to do with his bust, which you can see below.

Does the photo deliver The Godfather or does it deliver The Godfather? His nephew is passed out, completely unaware there’s a glossy red Vision head tucked into bed right next to him. As one fan, @chemarvel, put it in the comments, “it’s giving me the godfather’s vibes 😂,” which honestly isn’t far off. Who remembers the horse head scene?

Fans aren’t just here for the prank, as a lot of them are already looking ahead to what it might mean for Bettany’s future in upcoming Marvel Movies. When the news broke in 2008 that Heath Ledger had died, it left the entire entertainment world thunderstruck. At the age of 28, Ledger was still really only just at the start of his professional acting career, but he had quickly made a name for himself as a captivating performer and was on the verge of superstar status. Even though that was almost 20 years ago, it’s still shocking for fans to reckon with, and it’s even harder for those who were closer to and worked with him.

Paul Bettany is one of those people, having co-starred with Ledger in the 2001 period film A Knight’s Tale, and he reflected on his relationship with the actor in a 25th anniversary piece about the film published by The Guardian. The two actors worked extensively together in the making of the movie, Ledger as aspiring jousting champion William Thatcher and Bettany as his hype man Geoffrey Chaucer, and the latter can still recall the special energy that the Australian star possessed (even though he can’t actually rewatch the movie):

2026 is such a big year for the MCU, and I’m not just talking about Avengers: Doomsday. Aside from the big-screen event film, there’s quite a few upcoming Marvel TV shows expected to be on the 2026 TV schedule including the return of Paul Bettany’s Vision following the events in WandaVision, and a recent update has me more hyped for the spinoff.

VisionQuest has been on our radar since it started development back in 2022, and it’s finally expected to land on Disney+ in late 2026. Brad Winderbaum, who is Marvel Studios’ Head of Television, Streaming & Animation, made some comments about what to expect about the series on The Official Marvel Podcast. Check it out:

It’s actually wild to think about, but the last appearance of Vision in the MCU was in the series finale of WandaVision back in 2021, when he was split into two versions: White Vision and Hex Vision (the latter of which faded away). WandaVision ended with us wondering what happened to White Vision, and we’ll finally find out in VisionQuest.

When Winderbaum spoke about VisionQuest, he gave a lot of props to the show’s creator Terry Matalas, who notably worked on Star Trek: Picard, for knowing the “lore” like the back of his hand, and weaving it into the TV show in “clever ways.” The Marvel TV boss also said this:

Yeah, I’m ready to see this! I love when Marvel can fuse great storytelling with the fun beats of the genre, and it sounds like VisionQuest has this. James Spader, of course, has played Ultron in the MCU since the second Avengers movie, and is technically Vision’s dad/creator. (It was reported the actor would return to his role back in August 2024, per The Hollywood Reporter). I’m so curious how Marvel plans to approach this story. Here’s what else Winderbaum said about what’s coming:

Along with Bettany and Spader coming back to the MCU, there’s a few newcomers that will be part of Marvel Television for the first time for the series. Star Trek: Picard’s Todd Stashwick is rumored to play a villain named Paladin, who is hunting Vision, and The Fall Of House of Usher’s T’Nia Miller will play a powerful robot named Jocosta. Battlestar Galactica’s Mary McDonnell has been cast in an unknown role as well.

VisionQuest was characterized as the final installment of an MCU trilogy that started with WandaVision, and continued in 2024 with Agatha All Along. We have to wonder if Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda or Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha will be in the series too, especially after Hahn mentioned having “unfinished business” with her character. There’s a lot of exciting potential for VisionQuest as we await its premiere in the second half of the year.

When it comes to upcoming Marvel movies, fans have two Avengers films to look forward to, and they’re eager for more details on the massive flicks, which are being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. While it’s a given that the movies will feature massive casts, there are still questions in regard to whether other actors have been cast in addition to the ones who’ve been officially announced. Now, based on some comments shared from franchise veteran Paul Bettany, I get the feeling he might appear in one of the flicks.

Paul Bettany has long played Vision (and J.A.R.V.I.S. before that) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he’s become something of a fan-favorite. It’s been a few years now since Bettany has played a version of his beloved android character, though it’s known that he’s headlining the since-wrapped upcoming Marvel show Vision Quest, which is set to debut in 2026. The British actor recently spoke with The Daily Telegraph about his work schedule, and he just happened to name-drop Earth’s Mightiest Heroes:

The two Avengers movies that are currently in the works are Doomsday and Secret Wars, with the former hitting theaters in 2026 and the latter in 2027. At this point, the first of those two MCU films has already wrapped, while the second will reportedly commence principal photography next year. Interestingly enough, Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch just recently teased on the Smartless podcast that in the coming year, he has “huge commitments involving cloaks floating about.”

At this point, Paul Bettany’s comments shouldn’t be taken as a firm confirmation, especially since he specifically said he only thinks he’ll be participating at this time. However, given that Secret Wars is set to film in 2026, Bettany could very well be referring to that production, and it would make sense for Vision to be included, since this is a culmination MCU film we’re talking about. Those supposed superhero media-related commitments aside, though, Bettany also mentioned that he’s also on the lookout for other projects:

While the Here star’s involvement with the Avengers franchise moving forward still isn’t confirmed, fans should take comfort in the fact that he’ll reprise his role as White Vision in Vision Quest. A follow-up to 2021’s WandaVision, the Terry Matalas-produced show sees the newly born android setting off on a new adventure in which he’ll cross paths with some new and family faces, including James Spader’s Ultron.

Even though I’m hyped for the Vision show, I also hope Paul Bettany will eventually return in one (or both) of the upcoming Avengers films and that the series paves the way for that to happen. It would honestly be weird if the character were to be left out of those upcoming superhero movies. Here’s hoping that at some point within the next few years, MCU fans get to see Vision standing alongside the likes of Captain America and Thor on the big screen.

There are some films that fans never forget, and for many, A Knight’s Tale is one of them. Released in 2001, the medieval action-comedy redefined the genre with Queen sing-alongs, jousting set pieces, and an unforgettable cast led by Heath Ledger. However, for Paul Bettany, who played Geoffrey Chaucer in one of the best movies of the 2000s, the experience of making the often misunderstood film is more complicated. Over the weekend, he admitted that he hasn’t revisited the film in decades, and the reason is heartbreaking.

At L.A. Comic Con (via Entertainment Weekly), where he appeared alongside his WandaVision (streaming now with a Disney+ subscription) and Avengers co-star Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany answered fan questions about his career. When someone brought up A Knight’s Tale—one of many flicks to watch if you like Bettany—he revealed why he’s avoided rewatching it. The Wimbledon actor explained:

He added that while he did watch it back when it was first released, he hasn’t seen it since. The avoidance of the movie comes down to how much he misses his friend, the late Heath Ledger. The Vision performer continued:

Most Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are excited for 2026 as it will see two upcoming Marvel movie releases in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday. However, there is also a small screen release that could also be something that fans won’t want to miss: the return of Paul Bettany as Vision in Vision Quest on Disney+.

We don’t know a lot about what the future holds for Vision in the MCU, but Paul Bettany recently joked about what he hopes the future holds for him: a lot of money. Appearing over the weekend at L.A. Comic Con (via Tribune), Bettany was asked what he personally hoped to see in the next phase of the MCU, the actor quipped…

Bettany is having some fun, but at the same time, there’s probably more than a bit of honesty there. Movies that are expected to make a lot of money tend to pay the most money. And while actors may not make the money the most important part of any decision when choosing where to work, it would be silly to pretend it’s not part of the equation.

Bettany is hardly the first to say that one of the perks of working in the MCU is the money. Often getting paid a lot to make blockbusters is part of what allows many actors to afford to go on to make other films that they may be more passionate about, but that don’t always pay as well.

The last we saw of Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the reconstituted all-white body of Vision, with all of his memories infused by Wanda’s magic, went flying off into the sky at the end of WandaVision. While we know a few details about the new show’s plot, including that Todd Stashwick will play an assassin hunting Vision, Bettany did reveal some of the themes that the series will deal with, saying…

It may seem a little odd for Vision, a character that was originally constructed and built from various technological components, to have a story about intergenerational trauma and the relationships between fathers and sons. But this description actually does give us a bit of insight into how a key character of Vision Quest will fit into the story.

James Spader is set to return to the MCU in Vision Quest, reprising his role as Ultron for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron. While we may not know how that will work, since Ultron was presumed destroyed at the end of the film, at the hands of Vision himself, this does give us some explanation as to why the character will return, as Ultron is the closest thing to a father Vision has.

Paul Bettany wasn’t one of the chairs that we saw as part of the massive Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, but expectations are Vision Quest will run before the release of Doomsday, and so the two stories connecting are certainly possible. If it happens, it surely means more big paychecks for Bettany.

Agatha All Along continues to be a blast of an MCU series that's perfect for the Halloween season. However, I’m also starting to look forward to another upcoming Marvel TV show that spins off of WandaVision, because Paul Bettany gearing up for his Vision show! In fact, the actor recently shared his thoughts about Agatha All Along and updated fans on his series' place in development, and now my anticipation for his return has gone way up.

Paul Bettany attended the Los Angeles premiere of the Tom Hanks movie, Here, on Friday. While there, he shared these words about Agatha All Along with THR:

How cool is it that Paul Bettany is using that good ol' Disney+ subscription to watch Agatha All Along like the rest of us and getting inspired by Kathryn Hahn leading her own Marvel series?

Of course, the actor worked very closely with the Agatha Harkness actress on WandaVision, which introduced her character, and Jac Schaeffer, who created both WandaVision and Agatha All Along. Now, as the new Disney+ series dives deeper into the world of Marvel witches, the actor already has it on his list to rewatch ahead of having his own triumphant MCU return.

Bettany also shared that he and Team Marvel are “cooking up something” that he’s “really excited about.” While he wouldn’t “reveal more,” because “snitches end up in ditches,” he did say that he had the project on his calendar to begin shooting next year.

For the Vision series, we know that Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas will be behind it, and all sorts of artificial intelligence from the MCU will join Paul Bettany’s character. It was announced earlier this year that James Spader’s Ultron will return for the show and another report suggested that two other surprising characters are coming back as well: James D'Arcy will allegedly return as Edwin Jarvis after playing the role in Agent Carter alongside Kerry Condon’s F.R.I.D.A.Y.

We first heard about a Vision series moving forward in 2022 under the title Vision Quest – which has since been changed to an unknown title. However, Vision Quest was the name of a short story arc from the West Coast Avengers comic book. It involved Vision being disassembled and rebuilt as a completely white version of himself, without his former memories, and this happened to some degree at the end of WandaVision. So, we can ascertain the series will pick up after the 2020 series’ ending.

The white Vision was last seen flying off after seemingly getting his memories back. We could see the series then being about Vision going on a “quest” for either his own identity or in search of Wanda Maximoff. Considering Schaeffer told CinemaBlend she “flat out can't answer” when we asked about Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda returning on Agatha All Along, I have hope that a Vision series could reunite my favorite MCU couple.

Either way, it’s so great to hear Paul Bettany’s enthusiasm for returning as Vision. Honestly, 2026 can’t come quick enough.

With Billy Maximoff’s origin story being laid out in “Familiar By Thy Side,” Agatha All Along is laying the groundwork for Young Avengers to join the lineup of upcoming Marvel TV shows and future MCU movies. But you know what they say: you can’t make an omelet without cracking fans up over the return of Evan Peters’ Ralph Bohner. And it was quite the glorious reprisal, adding meaningful and legitimately harrowing context to WandaVision’s biggest punchline.

From his witch repellent to other handcrafted wards, Ralph has clearly been living on edge in the years since he was released from Agatha’s spell and left Westview. But he definitely didn’t shed his acting dreams, given his one-man show in Paramus, New Jersey. But that just added more confusion over the character’s backstory in WandaVision, and his comment after the dog-poisoning confession also raised my eyebrows. So let’s go over my two biggest questions inspired by that shocking return.

Was Ralph Bohner's Witness Protection Storyline Ignored, Or Is He Just Extremely Terrible At Staying HIdden?

For those who may have forgotten about WandaVision's missing witness protection person, that's what brought Randall Park's Jimmy Woo to Westview in the first place. And while it technically remained a loose thread by the end of the series, a deleted scene was unveiled ahead of the Blu-ray release that finally addressed that mysterious detail: Evan Peters' character was indeed that missing person, and was wearing an ankle monitor presumably as a form of pre-trial monitoring.

Even then, it still wasn't clear whether or not "Ralph Bohner" was meant to be understood as his "new" identity, or if that was who he'd always been. WandaVision's "The Series Finale" revealed that the house was under the Bohner name, and he also had a bunch of actor headshot photos with that name printed on them. So theoretically, it could be believed that he was attempting to utilize a new identity to break into the world of theatre work, despite the inherent problems with being a publicly recognizable figure.

But then Agatha All Along seemed to throw a huge wrench in that line of thinking with one of the funniest sight gags of the season so far: Kathryn Hahn wearing that Bohner Family Reunion shirt. (Pitch a tent!) The costuming choice seems to confirm that Ralph Bohner was the character's name from birth, with the only alternative being that he personally had that shirt printed specifically to serve as backstory ephemera for...whatever criminal entities came looking for him, I guess.

Given how ridiculous that seems, I have to now assume that Ralph doesn't understand how witness protection works, and that no one from the government stepped in to help him understand how to stay hidden. I can buy into the idea that the headshot photos were being storied in the attic as relics of the past, but that wouldn't explain why bills and other mail would still be addressed to "Ralph Bohner" specifically. So I guess the bottom line here is: Ralph sucks at life.

Even his lone attempt to obfuscate his name was botched when he told Billy to call him "Ralph," and then frustratingly corrected himself to say his name was "Randall." (A nod to Jimmy Woo's portrayer, possibly?) But does that name have anything to do with his presumed identity swap, or was it just a spur-of-the-moment bit of failed trickery?

One alternate explanation here that could clear things up: the witness protection for Ralph Bohner was more or less eradicated by the ankle bracelet scene being edited out of the finale. So without that as a narrative obstacle for showrunner Jac Schaeffer & Co., it's possible they just kept him the same as not to further muddy up the already complicated process of keeping up with everyone's identities in this universe. It's less fun, sure, but also less confusing overall.

Did His Confession About Poisoning Billy And Tommy's Dog Have Further Dark Implications?

For all that Ralph appears to be in dire straits after his experiences in Westview, he still seems to be keeping current with what’s happening, as he tells BIlly that Wanda is dead, and that Agatha is still living in the town under Wanda’s spell. But when Billy assumes that means she’s no longer as dangerous as she was when she made Ralph poison the Maximoff family’s new dog Sparky, Evan Peters’ character quickly strikes that idea down, saying:

Maybe I'm reaching here, but considering no one specifically mentioned Wanda and Vision's house or yard during that parking garage conversation, it seemed as if Ralph was talking about his own yard surrounding the house that Agatha took from him. (Along with the Bowflex and Blu-ray collection contained within.) Which may or may not contradict what I'd assumed happened to Sparky's body by the end of WandaVision's "On a Very Special Episode..."

Just prior to the titular couple's argument over the closing credits, Vision enters the house and washes his hands, and makes a comment about getting a dog and having to bury it the same day. At the time, I totally inferred that Paul Bettany's character was coming in from burying the dog himself, but what if that was just another part of Wanda's sitcom-friendly reality that glossed over some truly dark details?

Agatha All Along seemed to confirm that Elizabeth Olsen's traumatized witch was responsible for killing off Mr. Hart in WandaVision's freaky dinner scene, and it was one of several situations where the idealized scenes viewers watched did not line up with reality. So is it all that strange to believe that no one from the Maximoff household actually did anything with Sparky's remains, and that Agatha ended up forcing Ralph to bury it in his own yard instead?

Also, considering Sparky seemed to be a Hex-specific creation for Billy and Tommy, what actually happened to the dog's body whenever Westview was freed from captivity? Would it have just disappeared like the twin's bodies did, or did was it already corporeal in the real world and put under a spell? I guess the only way to answer that question once and for all would be to use a ground-penetrating radar to find and identify Sparky's bones.

I think we can probably also draw some interesting conclusions from Agatha falsely assuming responsibility for killing Sparky at the end of WandaVision's "Agatha All Along" bop, only for Ralph to say she made him do it. Perhaps that speaks to the ancient witch's specific sympathies and how she feels about getting her hands dirty in such ways. (Or not dirtying them, as it were.) If anything, let's just hope it means nothing bad ever happens to Señor Scratchy.

Agatha All Along will keep fans questioning everything with new episodes streaming every Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET for viewers with Disney+ subscriptions.

In 2015, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes banded back together on the big screen for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which started off with the superhero team fighting one of the remaining HYDRA cells, but then focused on their clash with the megalomaniacal Ultron, played by James Spader. Naturally the robotic menace was defeated by the time the 11th of the Marvel movies in order was over, but word’s come in that Ultron will be return for the upcoming Marvel TV show about Paul Bettany’s Vision. While this is exciting news to hear, I wonder how this is going to be pulled off considering what happened in Age of Ultron.

This update comes to us from THR, which shared that Spader is set to resume voicing Ultron for this Vision series, which has sometimes been referred to as Vision Quest, though that’s not its official title. Spader is the first actor unveiled to be joining Bettany in the project, which is reportedly looking to begin filming in England in early 2025. Star Trek: Picard’s Terry Malalas was tapped to serve as showrunner for this small screen affair in May.

As many of you reading will recall, Ultron was born in Avengers: Age of Ultron when the global defense program that Tony Stark and Bruce Banner were developing became sentient upon being exposed to Loki’s scepter, which contained the Mind Stone. The now self-aware Ultron decided that the only way to protect the world was by wiping out humanity, and in the process of trying to achieve this, he built a new synthetic body for himself with the Mind Stone embedded into the forehead. However, the Avengers managed to steal this body before Ultron could download his mind into it, and with the additions of Iron Man’s J.A.R.V.I.S. AI and Thor’s lightning jumpstarting the body, this being became Vision, who was worthy enough to lift Mjolnir and helped the superheroes battle his “father.”

By the time Avengers: Age of Ultron was over, all but one of the robot bodies that Ultron had replicated for himself was destroyed during the climactic conflict in Sokovia, and Vision tracked down the survivor and destroyed it after one final, poignant conversation. So when it comes to the main MCU reality, there shouldn’t be any copies left of Ultron’s consciousness (though an Ultron variant did nearly conquer the Marvel multiverse back in What If… ? Season 1, which can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription). Meaning, how is Ultron coming back into play for Vision Quest (let’s just assume that what it will be called).

Is this just a case of Ultron’s consciousness having been downloaded into a secret source years ago, and now it’s finally being unleashed? Or will Ultron even be part of the physical world at all? Remember, Vision Quest is following the white-colored Vision from the end of 2021’s WandaVision, who had his memories restored by the Vision created as part of Wanda Maximoff’s Hex. When also taking into account how the original Vision was partially based off Ultron’s personality, perhaps the android protagonist will only hallucinate seeing James Spader’s character.

It’ll be a while until we learn what exactly is going on here, as Vision Quest is expected to be released on Disney+ sometime in 2026. Meanwhile, the next MCU TV show on the docket is Agatha All Along, which premieres its first two episodes on Wednesday, September 18.

It's hard to believe that it has been nearly three years since WandaVision finished its run as the debut Marvel series on Disney+. This has left the future of one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most tragic characters, Vision, in limbo, though the rumored Vision series is apparently moving forward. What's even more unbelievable is that it has been over fifteen years since the actor behind the android joined the newly created MCU as Tony Stark's AI assistant, J.A.R.V.I.S. Recently, Paul Bettany opened up about the humorous shade that Iron Man helmer Jon Favreau made when pitching the film to him.

During a discussion at MegaCon Orlando (via Collider), Paul Bettany shared insights into Jon Favreau's approach to offering him the role of the advanced A.I. system. The Manhunt veteran highlighted the humorous manner in which the Jungle Book director presented the opportunity, which captures the playful and spirited atmosphere Favreau introduced to the MCU. Paul Bettany noted that the filmmaker was attracted to him for what he jokingly referred to as his absence of personality. As the actor tells it:

I mean, if we're to be honest, the Zathura director wasn't wrong when it came to that choice, as the British actor more than excelled in the role. However, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he definitely has a personality.

If you have watched the Marvel movies in chronological order, then you know there was no way of knowing just how much of a significant role Paul Bettany would play in the MCU, considering how his tenure began. He may have started just by lending his voice to Tony Stark's virtual assistant, but he became an essential part of the storyline that the House of Ideas used to create its universe. The Legion star reflected on his experience and shared more about how his role evolved from a mere voiceover to a critical character in the Avengers' lineup. He continued:

The rest, as they say, is history. Moving from the voice recording booth to the physical demands of being on set marked a significant shift for the actor. Transitioning to the role of Vision meant adapting from mere voice work to wearing an elaborate costume. The actor humorously noted the difficulty of getting into his costume, playfully stating that his dresser should receive a raise for their hard work. He detailed the demanding process of wearing the costume as, through laughter, he elaborated: 

If you have been keeping up with the state of superhero movies, you may have noticed that Marvel has faced some challenges since Avengers: Endgame's release. Due to the decreasing box office numbers, many planned upcoming Marvel movies and upcoming Marvel TV shows have either been postponed or canceled as the studio adjusts their release schedule. All that aside though, there are still plenty of fans who'd love to see the A Knight's Tale alum reprise the role of the amiable android in the MCU. And that's not just due to Jon Favreau's astute (and funny) way of casting him but also due to the actor's pitch-perfect performance.

As Kevin Feige and crew reprioritize their release schedule, it will be interesting to see how and when Paul Bettany’s Vision will make his onscreen return. In the meantime, all of Bettany's appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription.

Avengers: Infinity War delivered some of the more heartbreaking moments at the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3. Among them was the relationship between Vision and Wanda, which fans were invested in, and the moment when Vision died in front of Wanda was especially emotional on screen. It turns out that was entirely due to the two actors giving it their all because they had to improvise the entire scene.

Speaking at MegaCon Orlando (via Collider) Paul Bettany talked about Vision’s death scene and the fact that it needed to be reworked on set, leading the actors to be the ones to figure it out. Bettany says that he was only made aware of his character’s death the day before due to the film’s extreme secrecy, which led to there being no time to do a proper rework once it was decided the scene as envisioned wouldn’t work. As such, Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen had to wing it. The actor explained… 

To say it “worked” is probably an understatement. Vision’s death scene was very well done, with Wanda being forced to kill the man she loves, and then being forced to watch it all be for nothing, as Thanos uses the power of Infinity Stones to get what he wants anyway. It’s a scene that leads perfectly into WandaVision, a show entirely about Wanda’s grief.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Marvel Studios tries to do to match the levels it reached during the Infinity Saga. Some great characters have been introduced in the last couple of years, and plenty of upcoming Marvel movies and upcoming Marvel TV shows to introduce more, but it’s hard to argue that from a box office perspective that the studio has been struggling of late. It’s unclear if this is an issue with theaters or that fans are just not as interested as they once were in the MCU. 

The future of Vision is one of the open-ended questions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point. The original Vision as we know him is dead. But the WandaVision ending left us with a version of the character, currently known as "White Vision" who did end up with Vision’s memories, so he technically does exist, though where he is and what he is up to we just don’t know. There is a Vision series in development that may answer some of those questions, but considering the levels of MCU secrecy, Paul Bettany may not even know what the future holds. If he does, he won’t be telling.  

If you’ve watched the Marvel movies in order, then you surely know they collectively make up a massive tapestry of storytelling – one that includes a vast array of characters. Viewers have been introduced to countless faces by way of the interconnected superhero franchise, including valiant do-gooders, nefarious villains and courageous allies. Of course, throughout the series’ history, some actors have played their respective roles more frequently than others. There are a select few Marvel Cinematic Universe stars who’ve appeared in the most films set in the fictional world, and we’re going to discuss them. 

Before we talk about these performers (some of which are amongst the highest-paid MCU stars), let’s clarify a few things. First off, this list only includes credits for films in the Disney-produced franchise. The TV shows were not taken into account but are mentioned here and there. Also, the actors considered for this ranking have at least seven films under their belts. Blockbusters in which these stars make cameos in mid or post-credits scenes are also included in their tally of credits. Though that doesn’t include sequences that are scenes from other productions. (Think of the Civil War tag at the end of Ant-Man.) Finally, upcoming Marvel movies aren’t included here. So with all of that out of the way, let’s talk about the veterans of this lucrative shared universe.

Don Cheadle (7 Films)

Don Cheadle wasn’t given much time to decide whether he wanted to play Col. James Rhodes (a.k.a. War Machine). However, years later, he may not regret the decision. Cheadle debuted as Rhodes in 2010’s Iron Man 2 and reprised the role in 2013’s Iron Man 3. Two years later, he popped up in Avengers: Age of Ultron and, just a year later, he returned in Captain America: Civil War. Cheadle can also name Avengers: Infinity and Endgame as parts of his filmography and, between those movies, he briefly appeared in Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene. It’s also worth noting that Cheadle played Rhodey in a couple of MCU TV shows and is set to lead the upcoming film Armor Wars, of which few details are known.

Paul Bettany (7 Films)

Fans have both heard and seen Paul Bettany throughout his tenure in the Marvel movies (which have been ranked). The British actor originally served as the voice of Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence system, J.A.R.V.I.S., first lending his vocals to the role in Iron Man. Bettany reprised that role in the movie’s two sequels as well 2012’s The Avengers. He also portrayed the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which he also made his on-camera debut as Vision. As the android, Bettany went on to appear in Civil War as well as Infinity War, which marked the hero’s demise (ahead of WandaVision).

Mark Ruffalo (8 Films)

Like his colleague Don Cheadle, Mark Ruffalo succeeded someone in his respective role and has since shown up in eight MCU flicks. His version of Bruce Banner/The Hulk appeared in all four of the Avengers flicks from 2012 to 2019. Ruffalo’s most prominent outing as Banner outside of the crossover movies occurred in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. The star can also claim mid or post-credit cameos in Iron Man 3, Captain Marvel and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This isn’t too shabby for Ruffalo, who’s dropped a few spoilers in his time.

Chris Hemsworth (8 Films)

Chris Hemsworth’s stint in the franchise has been particularly impressive, especially when you consider that he became its first star to accomplish a major feat – leading four solo movies. After making his debut as the God of Thunder in 2011’s Thor, he played the character in its sequels: The Dark World, Ragnarok and most recently, Love and Thunder. Of course, the Australian performer was also a part of the Infinity Saga’s four Avengers films. Hemsworth’s future with the franchise remains unclear, though the end of his fourth solo outing did tease that his beloved Asgardian warrior would return.

Scarlett Johansson (9 Films)

A fan could argue that no one could’ve played Natasha Romanoff the way Scarlett Johansson did. She made a real splash when she arrived on the scene in Iron Man 2 and later gave a masterful performance in The Avengers. Two years after the team-up movie, Johansson truly shined when she portrayed Nat in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She’d go on to star in three more Avenger movies as well as Civil War and made a cameo in Captain Marvel’s mid-credits sequence. Finally, she capped off her journey as Romanoff in 2021’s Black Widow. It seems Johansson doesn’t have plans to play Nat again, but she is serving as a producer on a yet-to-be revealed Marvel project.

Chris Evans (10 Films)

Chris Evans’ Sentinel of Liberty was also a mainstay within the MCU for close to a decade. His first starring turn in the franchise was Captain America: The First Avenger, which hit theaters in 2011. The Knives Out alum also portrayed the character in the two sequels – Winter Soldier and Civil War. Of course, Evans’ Steve Rogers was also a major player in all four Avengers movies. Additionally, he made a small cameo in Thor: The Dark World, in which Rogers was briefly impersonated by Loki and also popped up in Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene. And finally, who could forget those memorable appearances he made via training videos in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming?

Robert Downey Jr. (10 Films

Although there are many stars who managed to make their mark on the massive IP, Robert Downey Jr. arguably made the biggest impression. That’s in great part because he was able to flesh out genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist Tony Stark over so many movies. Downey first took flight as Stark in the franchise’s inaugural installment, Iron Man, eventually leading its two sequels as well. He also more than made his presence known in the quartet of team-up features centered around Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Downey also made that memorable cameo as Tony at the tail end of 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and starred in Captain America: Civil War as well as Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s really no wonder that he was one of Marvel’s highest-earning talents.

Samuel L. Jackson (10 Films)

Where does one even begin when it comes to talking about Samuel L. Jackson’s numerous appearances as Nick Fury. Well, I guess you could start at the beginning with his post-credits cameo in Iron Man, which was preceded by Jackson’s more substantial role in its 2010 follow-up. One can’t forget that he also briefly played the ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. director in Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. As time went on, the fan-favorite actor appeared as Fury in The Avengers as well as Age of Ultron and also had brief appearances in Infinity War and Endgame. Jackson also played a younger version of Fury in Captain Marvel and, more recently, he reprised the role in its sequel, The Marvels. Needless to say, the actor has been all around this fictional universe.

These actors certainly have impressive bodies of work as far as the MCU is concerned. It’s somewhat bittersweet that some of them no longer have commitments to the franchise. Still, their work within it will surely be remembered for years to come.

It’s been more than two and a half years since Disney+'s first Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series debuted in the form of WandaVision. Since then we’ve seen eight more shows join the ranks, with each one continuing the MCU’s storytelling in new and interesting ways. 

With Loki on the verge of returning, and the first of the live-action MCU series to get a second season, we thought it would be nice to take a look back at the shows that started it all in a new regular series leading to the debut of Loki Season 2. So let's start with the first series, which might still be the MCU’s most creative and unique project. Here’s a look at WandaVision and a few of the things about the show’s production that you might not be aware of. 

Dick Van Dyke Was Consulted To Help Make The First Episode Authentic 

WandaVision’s main conceit sees the two title characters living their lives through a series of iconic sitcom tropes, with each episode being set in a different era. In addition to making each episode look like the proper sitcom style, the filmmakers wanted each episode to be created as faithfully to that style as possible. So for example, practical wire effects were used to recreate Wanda’s magic in the early episodes rather than digital effects.

Director Matt Shakman and Keven Feige even went so far as to enlist the great Dick Van Dyke so they could pick his brain and learn as much as they could about how The Dick Van Dyke Show had been brought to life. The three had lunch at Disneyland’s iconic Club 33.

Paul Bettany Was Colored Blue To Make Vision Work In Black And White 

Costumes in the MCU are often interesting because so many of them are created with CGI more than they are actual outfits. Traditionally Vision is one of those characters, with his on-set look being designed for motion capture rather than being an actual wardrobe. However, Bettany usually looks like his head has been painted red when he’s playing Vision, but for WandaVision, he was blue.

Shots from the WandaVision set from the first two episodes of the show, when Vision is looking like his android self rather than just looking human, reveal that his face was colored blue. This was apparently done because for the episodes that were shot in black and white, the red didn’t end up looking right, but the blue translated to black and white much better. 

 Kat Dennings’ Darcy Almost Had A Very Different Role 

WandaVision saw the return of not only the title characters to the MCU, but also a couple of fan-favorite supporting players, namely Randall Park’s Agent Woo and Kat Dennings' Darcy. In the series, Darcy gets drafted into service to investigate “the hex” because she now has a Ph. D in astrophysics since last we saw her, but originally her connection to the story was a bit more mundane.

Showrunner Jac Shaeffer revealed that in early drafts of the first episode, Darcy is retrieving an old TV set that she had pawned after her grandma had been snapped out of existence, but was now back and apparently wondering where all her stuff was. It’s when Darcy plugs in the old TV that she discovers the broadcast from the Hex.  

Teyonah Parris Didn’t Know What She Was Auditioning For 

Secrecy is a well-known staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Steps are always taken to help ensure that details about upcoming movies are not revealed too early. In the case of WandaVision this meant that when Teyonah Parris auditioned for the role of Monica Rambeau, she actually had no idea what she was auditioning for.

Paris explained in the Assembled making-of special on Disney+ that she knew she was auditioning for something Marvel-related, but beyond that, it was all a mystery. She was sent asides from the '70s-era episode of WandaVision, which obviously didn’t look too much like anything she would have expected to see from the MCU. She was told that it was okay to overact, and she did what she called “some very great overacting.” Marvel clearly loved it, so they offered her the part. Of course, then she had to ask what the part actually was. 

Paul Bettany Took One Of WandaVision’s Props Home 

It’s not uncommon for actors to be given, or simply to take certain props from the set home with them. Paul Bettany did just that with WandaVision. However, rather than taking home a particular costume, he instead walked off with a bust of Vision, which he apparently uses to freak out his guests. 

The Vision bust was created so the crew could light the set properly whenever he wasn’t actually available. Bettany decided to take it home with him, and it now resides in his country house, sitting on the toilet for guests to discover when they come to visit. 

Doctor Strange Was Going To Cameo To Set Up Multiverse Of Madness 

WandaVision became an important piece in the Marvel Cinematic Universe not only as the first Disney+ Marvel series, but because the story of Wanda Maximoff in the show connects directly to what happens to her next in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There were initially plans to have Benedict Cumberbatch cameo in the series, but it ended up not happening. 

Kevin Feige explained that it was felt that having Doctor Strange show up would have taken away from Wanda’s story, and it sounds like they never found a way to integrate him into the show that wasn’t going to feel tacked on, so the idea was scrapped.  

Emma Caulfield Was Cast In Part Due To Her Buffy Connection, But Only As A Misdirection

The mystery of just what is going on inside WandaVision’s TV-inspired world goes on for most of the series, which leads fans to speculate about just what was happening and who was responsible for it. One early candidate for the guilty party was the character of Dottie, played by Emma Caulfield. Genre TV fans certainly knew her from her regular role as Anya the demon on TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it turns out this was all very much intentional.

Dottie ended up just being another citizen of the town who had their mind controlled by Wanda, but Emma Caulfield says her previous time as a magic-using monster on Buffy was supposed to get viewers thinking that she could turn out to be something more, which would therefore keep the audience further away from figuring out the truth. 

Based on WandaVision’s unique structure and where the MCU has taken the two title characters since then, it seems unlikely that WandaVision Season 2 is something that will ever happen the way it has for Loki. Still, it’s an amazing show which is absolutely worth watching if that’s something you still haven't done yet.

Robert Downey Jr. has credited his wife, Hollywood producer Susan Downey, with reviving his Hollywood career after a series of troubling incidents derailed it in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The married duo has produced numerous projects (often starring RDJ) in recent years. Of course, their partnership goes beyond the screen as the spouses celebrate 18 years of marriage. Multiple stars including Jeremy Renner and Paul Bettany, reached out on the couple’s wedding anniversary.   

The former MCU star couldn’t hold back his excitement as he and his producer wife celebrated almost two decades of wedded bliss. He took to his Instagram account to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Downey seemed as in love with his spouse as he did on their wedding day. The love between him and his producing and marriage partner hasn’t dissipated since their wedding day. Of course, the Downeys’ love story is one of Hollywood lore as the couple meet on the set of the 2003 psychological thriller Gothika. Mrs. Downey’s initial trepidation about starting a relationship didn’t last as the producing partners were married in 2005. The married duo weren’t the only ones celebrating their wedding day as multiple stars commented under the sweet post.

Of course, the first one to wish the Hollywood power couple a happy anniversary was RDJ’s fellow Avenger Jeremy Renner. The Hawkeye actor was just as enamored with the photos as other commenters, saying:

It was sweet to see Renner complimenting his friends’ wedding photos. His comments proved the bond between him and Downey Jr. is still strong, especially since both have competing renovation shows. The Mayor of Kingstown star was joined in celebrating the Downeys’ wedding anniversary by fellow MCU star Paul Bettany. The Vision actor left a heartfelt comment to the married duo, saying:

Leave it to Bettany to turn a sweet remark into a beautiful phrase. Much like Renner, the WandaVision star spent a decade co-starring with RDJ across multiple Marvel movies, going from the AI assistant JARVIS to the android superhero. So, his loving words weren’t surprising.

The compliments didn’t stop with Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU family as stars from other RDJ-helmed projects posted a nice comment. Sweet Tooth’s Dania Ramirez couldn’t let the anniversary post pass her by without saying something. Ramirez left congratulatory well wishes, saying:

While she didn’t work directly with the two-time Oscar nominee, Ramirez did get to interact with Downey Jr. and his wife since he was a producer on the Netflix graphic novel adaptation. However, it seemed like the Jumanji: The Next Level star witnessed the Downeys’ longstanding devotion in real-time.

Even Robert Downey Jr.’s close Hollywood friends jumped at the chance to celebrate the couple’s 18th wedding anniversary. His longtime friend Sean Hayes didn’t miss out on the anniversary congratulations. The Will and Grace alum wrote on RDJ’s post:

Given Hayes and Downey Jr.’s joke-filled friendship, it was no surprise that the Tony winner questioned his and his husband’s unadulterated love for the Hollywood power couple. He’s witnessed firsthand the couple’s enduring relationship over the years. The two actors shared the screen in RDJ’s poignant documentary Sr. about his late auteur father Robert Downey Sr.

As Robert and Susan Downey celebrate 18 years of wedding bliss, you can join in by watching the producing partners’ multiple projects, including the Sherlock Holmes franchise, on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The Hollywood couple has multiple projects lined up, including the HBO miniseries The Sympathizer. Until these projects are released, you can watch RDJ in the blockbuster biopic Oppenheimer currently in theaters.

Shortly after WandaVision finished its run as the debut Marvel series on Disney+, rumors began to circulate that Vision would get his own Disney+ series as a follow up. While the series has yet to be announced by Marvel, a brand new rumor seems to indicate that the series is, in fact, moving forward, which raises all sorts of interesting questions about the future of Vision in the MCU.

In a recent edition of The Hoit Mic, it was reported that a writers’ room will be assembled as early as next week to begin work on a new Vision series. The show apparently already has a title, which may give us a hint as to what the series will be about. It will be called Vision Quest.

Vision Quest was the name of a short story arc of West Coast Avengers comics that included some elements that we already saw take place in WandaVision. In the story Vision is disassembled and rebuilt as a completely white version of himself, and reactivated without his memories.

When we last saw Vision in the MCU he was flying off after seemingly having his memory restored by the version of the Vision that Wanda created with the Mind Stone. Assuming that’s where Vision’s story picks up, the “quest” in question could take Vision in a couple different directions. It could be a quest for Vision’s own identity as he comes to terms with who and what he currently is. Is he really Vision? The Ship of Theseus question could work as the foundation for a whole series.

Alternatively, we could see Vision go on a quest to find Wanda. She seemingly died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but nobody is ever truly dead in comic book stories, and we certainly never saw her body, so her survival is possible and we could see a series where Vision tries to figure out what happened to her. At this point, it's difficult to see a place for a Vision return in the upcoming Marvel movies, so seeing the return happen on Disney+ certainly makes sense.

In its own way, since Vision has yet to return to the MCU since WandaVision, then Vision Quest sounds like it would essentially be Season 2 of WandaVsion since it will pick up his story from there. It’s a different enough story that it needs its own title, but if this comes together it may give us a hint of how additional seasons of several Disney+ series could come to fruition.  

Of course even if this report about a writers’ room coming together is true, that doesn’t mean this is a show we’ll ever see. The fact that Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed that this show is coming, despite Disney making lots of huge announcements at both SDCC and D23 Expo, it could indicate this more of an exploratory idea. Maybe, if the writers’ room has trouble coming up with a story, the whole idea could be scrapped. 

Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a doozy so far, with dizzying stories being told on the small and silver screens. The next of the upcoming Marvel movies hitting theaters is Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the story could seemingly go anywhere. But is Vision in Doctor Strange 2? Here’s what Paul Bettany says.

After voicing JARVIS for years, Paul Bettany made his live-action debut in the MCU as Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Since then his signature character developed a strong relationship with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. The two kicked off Phase Four with WandaVision on Disney+, which is why fans are wondering if a reunion is coming in Doctor Strange 2. Bettany was recently asked on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert if he has a role in the mysterious blockbuster, responding with:

Talk about a cryptic answer. Paul Bettany has been in the Marvel game for a number of years, so he knows better than to confirm or deny anything ahead of a movie’s release. Anticipation for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is sky high, partly because it feels like any character or variant could show up throughout the course of its 126-minute runtime. We’ll just have to see if Vision appears– either forms of the character.

While the Vision we knew and loved died in Avengers: Infinity War, that hasn’t stopped Paul Bettany from having a continued role in the MCU. He was brought back for WandaVision, with Elizabeth Olsen’s superpowered character bringing him to life via the hex. She once again said goodbye to her lover in the series finale, but that doesn't mean Bettany is out of the shared universe.

Because WandaVision’s finale also featured the debut of White Vision. He was created by S.W.O.R.D. with the parts from Vision’s body and originally sent on a mission to kill Wanda. But in the end the two Visions battled, and eventually came to an understanding thanks to that Ship of Theseus scene. White Vision departed Westview to places unknown, and could still seemingly show up in a future Marvel installment.

Between White Vision and a possible flashback/dream sequence for the original, there’s definitely plenty of opportunities for Paul Bettany to pop up in Doctor Strange 2. After all, the trailers for The Multiverse of Madness have already shown that Wanda and Vision’s sons Tommy and Billy will have a role in the blockbuster. So bringing Bettany’s Avenger into the action doesn’t seem out of the question.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been in the midst of a legal battle for years, but things have really stepped up in recent weeks. The U.S. defamation trial has officially begun, with Depp himself testifying for several days about his experience with the Aquaman actress. While getting cross-examined by Heard’s team, Depp admitted to doing drugs with Marilyn Manson and more.

Actor Johnny Depp has taken the stand for days, resulting in countless recallings of his family history, struggles with substance abuse, and his allegations of abuse against Amber Heard. His ex-wife’s legal team got the chance to cross-examine the Pirates of the Caribbean star, with the actor admitting he used drugs with some celebrities (via People). That includes controversial recording artist Marilyn Manson, as Depp offered on the stand:

While the situation with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is a serious one, he’s been cracking a few jokes from the stand. That’s seemingly the case when it came to Marilyn Manson, as he called the singer chatty in the midst of admitting their drug use together. Manson’s involvement is sure to turn a few heads, especially since the singer’s ex Evan Rachel Wood has alleged sexual and physical abuse by him. Of course, Manson wasn’t the only notable name that was dropped in the examination of Depp.

A variety of celebrities have been tied to Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal issues, including Elon Musk (who famously challenged Depp to a cage fight) and Aquaman star Jason Momoa. MCU favorite Paul Bettany has also been named in the drama, with Deep being asked on the stand if the WandaVision actor was a “good friend you've done drugs with.” The Edward Scissorhands star seemed to take umbrage with the question, but confirmed his friendship with Bettany by saying:

Paul Bettany is also tangentially involved in the trial because of text conversations the pair had about the Pirates actor's issues with Amber Heard. The texts date back to 2013, and include the two joking about killing Heard. Depp reportedly sent this message to his Mortdecai co-star:

Paul Bettany’s reps have not provided a comment to the story by People, but it should be interesting to see how much the MCU fan-favorite ends up involved in the legal proceedings between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. 

The drama between the two stars should continue for the foreseeable future, with Amber Heard also set to testify in court. Depp revealed bombshells from the stand, and smart money says that his ex will do just the same. Given the millions of dollars and professional stakes of the trial, tensions are definitely high.

Seeing Wanda Maximoff lose Vision for the second time in the WandaVision series finale left fans of the Marvel TV show heartbroken. Of course, the miniseries isn’t coming back for a second season, which left many sets and props up for grabs. So Paul Bettany took it upon himself to snatch up a memento for a mischievous reason. The WandaVision actor revealed what amazing prop from the Disney+ miniseries he took home so he could scare friends.

Before we go any further, take a look at the prop in question that Paul Bettany's been using to freak people out.

The Avengers actor came clean about his sticky fingers while promoting his new miniseries A Very British Scandal on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The late-night host (or basically his staff) scoured the actor’s social media accounts as he pulled up an image of a Vision bust perched on a toilet tank. Of course, Colbert asked Bettany to explain himself, which led to the British actor being refreshingly candid about obtaining the replica:

That was a very cheeky move on his part. Imagine going to use the bathroom and seeing a life-sized bust of the Marvel A.I. just staring back at you as you take care of business. What a sight! But Paul Bettany's antics didn’t stop there, as Stephen Colbert brought out another photo.

This time, the Paul Bettany look-alike popped up in a guest’s bed, completely chilling surrounded by pillows. The actor still wasn’t deterred by the new evidence as he bluntly stated:

Well, at least, Paul Bettany didn’t over-explain or under-explain the image. He just wanted to give his friends a good fright. There was no harm done other than a few screams. I mean, how actors can say they have a life-like bust of themselves sitting in their home courtesy of Disney. At least, he has a token of his years of dedication to Marvel. The Very British Scandal actor went on to explain why the Vision bust came to be.

See what he did there? Of course, Vision is an android who blurs the line between technology and human, but there are times when his robotic side lends itself to a more stoic performance. Still, much like his portrayer, he can offer a range of emotions depending on the moment, but that’s all courtesy of Bettany’s excellent performance.

Of course, Marvel fans are waiting to hear if White Vision will pop up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, (despite the actor's issues with his Vision costume), or if if White Vision is a one-and-done outing. Moviegoers will find out if Vision or any of the other rumored wild Marvel cameos will happen when Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6. Johnny Depp has been in more than one legal battle over the last few years that have surfaced following accusations his ex-wife Amber Heard made that he had abused her during the course of their partnership. While Depp has been tied up with the court extensively, his friends haven't been out of the reach of the courts, either. Marvel star Paul Bettany reveals that he suffered a “strange moment” due to exchanging texts with Depp over the years.

While Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for defamation after she penned a piece for The Washington Post about her experience as a victim of domestic violence, which has since resulted in Depp losing out on a number of roles, it wasn’t that lawsuit that pried into the life of WandaVision star Paul Bettany. Instead, it was a libel case against another newspaper, News Group Newspapers, for a story in The Sun that had called Depp a “wife beater.”

In response to the libel case, the lawyers defending The Sun apparently sifted through 10 years worth of Paul Bettany’s text messages in relation to his friendship with Depp. In an interview with The Independent, Bettany revealed that the intrusive nature of the case was very unpleasant, and pretty much all of his communications were poured over by strangers. Here's what he said in his own words:

Although raking through a third party’s communications for 10 years may indeed sound intrusive, the defense seemed to think it necessary, as they did make certain text messages between Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany public. In these texts, Depp seemed to allude to violence against Amber Heard as well as Depp’s abuse of drugs and alcohol, although his lawyers responded by saying the messages were taken out of context. 

The texts that were made public were used in the libel case by The Sun’s defense, and a judge ended up ruling in favor of the newspaper, saying that there was enough evidence to back up the use of the term “wife beater” in reference to Johnny Depp. For his part, the actor has expressed his disappointment with the ruling.

The lawsuit centered around the relationship of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp has been lengthy, and despite previous efforts to get the U.S. suit dismissed, it looks like both parties may be in it for the long haul. The lawsuit has even brought other celebrities in the mix as well, Paul Bettany being one of a slew of names brought in, including co-stars like Javier Bardem and even Elon Musk. The legal battle is even getting its own documentary in 2022. 

With awards season in full swing across the world of cinema and (to a lesser degree) TV, this week marked the yearly reveal of Golden Globe Award nominations. The 79th annual event is set to take place on January 9, 2022, even though it presumably won't be airing on NBC this time around due to the diversity-geared backlash. And while awards ceremonies historically have not been very kind to superhero fare, Disney+'s MCU efforts are helping to change that stereotype, with the highly acclaimed WandaVision once again making the biggest waves. Well, the spinoff-bound superhero saga pretty much made the only waves for Marvel and Disney+.

What Golden Globe Nominations Did WandaVision Receive?

As the first wholly recognized MCU TV series to hit streaming, WandaVision immediately made an impact with viewers and critics back in January 2021, and that impact was obviously noteworthy enough to keep the multiverse-cracking drama on the minds of those within the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The limited total of Golden Globes handed out each year obviously means there are far fewer chances to land nods, as compared to the Emmys anyway, but WandaVision still came out with two major nominations:

• Best Actress - Television Motion Picture or Limited Series: Elizabeth Olsen
• Best Actor - Television Motion Picture or Limited Series: Paul Bettany

While it is indeed unfortunate that WandaVision didn't secure the trifecta with the show itself landing a nomination for Best Televison Motion Picture or Limited Series, you can bet everyone involved is still celebrating pretty hard for Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany for bringing MCU superhero flair to the Golden Globes. And there's some stiff competition, too, so the Marvel stars are certainly not locked in for wins here. 

Elizabeth Olsen is up against Mare of Easttown's Kate Winslet, Scenes from a Marriage's Jessica Chastain, Genius: Aretha's Cynthia Erivo and Maid's Margaret Qualley. Meanwhile, Paul Bettany is holding his own against two fellow MCU stars, Scenes from a Marriage's Oscar Isaac and Dopesick's Michael Keaton, as well as Halston's Ewan McGregor and The Serpent's Tahar Rahim. It's definitely hard to know who will take home the trophies here, but arguably the more important thing here is that WandaVision broke the seal for superhero-centric nominations at the Golden Globes after doing the same at the Emmys, so I guess we're all winners, really. 

Did Any Other Disney+ Marvel Shows Earn Golden Globe Nominations?

While WandaVision gave Disney+ and Marvel peeps reason to celebrate this year's Golden Globe awards, the two studios unfortunately came up short everywhere else in the nominations list, at least as far as combined efforts go. So nothing for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Loki, which arguably would have been the most likely series to get recognized beyond WandaVision. Again, the limited number of categories certainly don't help here, even when considering not all of Disney+'s MCU shows are of a limited capacity. There are just too many shows out there. 

Disney+ didn't fare any better in TV categories outside of its Marvel nods, with none of the streaming service's other original series making the cut. Things went slightly better on the film side of things, with both Luca and Raya and the Last Dragon (released theatrically and on streaming simulteaneously) being nominated for Best Original Film. Another simul-release, Cruella, is also in the mix thanks to Emma Stone's nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical/Comedy). 

The 79th annual Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, January 9. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe's last movie being a prequel for a character that has died, and the next movie being an origin story for an entirely new character, it's even more of a mystery than usual what the future holds for many of our favorite characters from the first three phases of the MCU. One of the biggest question marks surrounds Vision, who is still technically dead, except, maybe not. So will Paul Bettany be returning to the franchise? At this point it doesn't appear he's aware of any plans to bring him back, but he's not counting out the possibility.

Speaking with Deadline about the Emmy-nominated WandaVision, Paul Bettany seems to be quite happy with where he left things if the show does turn out to be the end of the road for his character. Still, he's stopping short of calling it the end himself, because he's well aware that when it comes to Marvel, anything is possible. Bettany explains...

While the Vision that we knew in WandaVision faded away at the end, he also survived. The physical body of the original Vision that was turned into a weapon, seemingly was given all the memories of Vision in the end. He flew off for parts unknown. He is, in many ways, the real Vision, and since he is out there, he can certainly reappear at some point.

The end of WandaVision showed us Wanda studying magic, with an apparent goal of bringing her children back, and if she's focused on reuniting her family, that's going to include Vision as well. That makes it seem likely the MCU isn't quite done with Vision. It's possible we could see him as early as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though if that's the case Paul Bettany absolutely knows Vision will be back and is playing coy. He has previously stated that he is no longer under contract to Marvel Studios.

It's possible that movie will simply be the next step in a longer journey, and Vision could return, but somewhere down the line. Either way, the door is certainly open, and while there are certainly characters that we lost in the last two Avengers movie that we don't expect to see again, Vision isn't really one of them. It seems more than likely he will be back, the only real question is when.

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't yet watched Loki's sixth and final episode of Season 1. Be warned!

After delivering a fifth installment that was filled with wall-to-wall easter eggs and callbacks, Loki tightened its focus once more for its dialogue-fueled Season 1 finale, which introduced Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors to the MCU. But before all that happened, Loki changed up Marvel Studios' traditional opening by filling it with memorable lines of dialogue from across the entire MCU, as a way of presenting an audio timeline, as it were. Then, Loki repurposed one of WandaVision's most oft-repeated lines in a way that quite cleverly foreshadowed Loki's eventual heartbreak.

The Loki finale's opening moment continued in a similar fashion, only mixing real-world dialogue from Neil Armstrong, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, and more with a select few MCU lines. One was Loki's "Glorious purpose!" one was Sylvie's "Open your eyes," and in between was Vision's A+ assessment in WandaVision Episode 8:

That line was spoken during the WandaVision episode's flashback sequence within Vision and Wanda's bedroom, and while those instantly classic words were in reference to Wanda's sadness over Pietro's death, it's extremely easy to apply them to Tom Hiddleston's Loki dealing with his own losses in "For All Time. Always." But in a way that syncs Loki more to Vision instead of Wanda.

Vision's entire speech during that flashback was about how he was unfamiliar with the concept of grief, because he hadn't had anything or anyone to care about in such a way that losing them made a significant impact. Of course, the beloved synthezoid evolved to develop such complicated emotions by the time he was killed by Thanos, which shone through in Wanda's version of Vision within the Hex, making it all the more depressing when Elizabeth Olsen's tragic character had to leave it all behind.

Though made of flesh and blood and not electronic bits, Loki is 100% representative of those very same feelings that Vision spoke of. As the oft-villainous God of Mischief, Loki has lived the entirety of his life - or lives, if we're accounting for all of the variants - as a friendless and loveless loner. It was made clear that Loki's proclivity for sexual relationships was entirely for physical pleasure, and did not extend to the emotional side of his psyche, which is what made his spark with Sophia di Martino's (other Loki) Sylvie so meaningful and confusing to him. He'd never felt so strongly before about another person, and while it is indeed hilariously on-the-nose for the narcissist to be so engaged by another version of his identity, it's still the most genuine feeling he's ever had in this context.

And before Owen Wilson's Mobius came along, Loki's "best friend" would have to default to Thor out of sheer necessity, but it's not like they were known for having slumber parties and playing video games together. Granted, Loki's six-episode season didn't really give viewers nearly enough of Loki and Mobius' bonding time. Still, the actors made it convincing enough, and when Loki utters the line "Thank you, my friend," in Episode 5, there's no doubting that he means each word and every letter.

Which brings us back around to Vision's line as foreshadowing. Because in the end, Loki is back where he started in terms of having no friends and no companions, only this time he is filled with the unfamiliar sense of grief, now that he'd finally found the ability to care for others. He even got to seal his feelings for Sylvie with a kiss, as weird as that was, which made it all the more difficult for him to grasp that Sylvie viewed her revenge mission as more important than continuing their relationship. He clearly thought that his own brain's chemical balance would be enough to convince her to leave the Citadel and live their lives together.

Alas, Sylvie's long life of running from the TVA had long ago hardened her instincts and her motivations, and though she clearly did reciprocate some of Loki's feelings, killing Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains was just a little too necessary. And because Loki possibly would have stood in her way as a potential sacrifice, she ported him back to the TVA, where it was essentially impossible for him to return to her. But that wasn't even the end of Loki's grief.

As he was trying to come to terms with what just happened, both from a personal perspective and from a "the woman I love just borked everything and everyone" perspective, Loki discovered that everything else he thought he knew had also gone topsy-turvy. His attempt to spread the bad news to Mobius and Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15 was met with only confusion, as it became clear in those final seconds that Sylvie's murderous act had distorted the central timeline to the point where neither Mobius nor B-15 knew who Loki was. (Which is a mysterious line of questioning in and of itself.)

So in roughly the same amount of time it probably took quasi-Kang's coffee to brew, the formerly alone-and-loving-it Loki had lost both the unexpected new love of his life and an unexpected kinship. And like both Wanda and Vision, Loki came to realize just how powerful and debilitating the feeling of grief truly is. Especially when it's combined with the knowledge that countless variants of a monstrous villain are now on the loose.

Where will Loki show up next, and will he still be emotionally corrupted, or will he follow in Sylvie's footsteps and turn those dour feelings into motivation? We'll have to wait and see what happens, as it's not clear yet what Tom Hiddleston will busy himself with next, though we do know another alt-take on the anti-anti-anti-villain is coming to the animated anthology What If...? in August. For now, though, fans can rewatch Loki in all its six-episode grief and glory on Disney+ as the 2021 Summer TV season rolls on.

This year's round of Emmy nominations have arrived and, while this can be an exciting time for many, it can be a mixed bag for fans of superhero shows. For years, the Television Academy has seemed hesitant to give genre shows love, aside from technical awards (which are also important). However, we’re starting to see a major shift due to the evolution of the superhero genre, which is arguably making the academy give such shows a second look. Now with the nominations for the 2021 Primetime Emmy nominations, WandaVision and The Boys and other series are proving that comic book superheroes are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

Today, it was revealed that Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, Disney+'s first Marvel Cinematic Universe-set series, has scored several major nominations. Leading lady Elizabeth Olsen received a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Meanwhile, co-lead Paul Bettany scored a nod for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Scene-stealer Kathryn Hahn also grabbed a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series. And if that weren’t exciting enough, the Disney+ series also landed a nomination for Limited or Anthology Series.

WandaVision’s behind-the-scenes talent also managed to get some recognition from the Television Academy. Director Matt Shakman earned himself a nod for Outstanding Directing in a Limited or Anthology Series. The show also picked up three separate nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Limited, Anthology or Movie. Chuck Hayward and Peter Cameron scored nods for “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!,” Laura Donney earned a nod for “Previously On” and head writer and producer Jac Schaeffer landed a nomination for her work on “Filmed Before A Live Studio Audience.” Also, the show brought in nominations for makeup and hairstyling, costuming, music and other technical honors.

Amazon’s The Boys may not have picked up as many nominations, but it still has plenty of reason to celebrate. The hilarious, violent, raunchy and politically astute superhero series earned a nomination for Drama Series, putting it alongside shows like The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, Pose and The Mandalorian. In addition, Rebecca Sonnenshine, who penned the Season 2 finale “What I Know,” scored a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama. Not too shabby for a show featuring a baby that shoots laser beams from its eyes.

On a more low-key note, another Marvel series also managed to snag a nomination. Don Cheadle, who appeared as James Rhodes in the premiere episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, earned an Emmy nomination for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series. The Disney+ series also picked up noms for stunt coordination and stunt performance.

And if you thought these were the only comic book shows to get love from the Emmys, you'd be wrong. Netflix's The Umbrella Academy earned special effects honors for a Season 2 episode. In addition, DC's underrated superhero romp, Doom Patrol, was also nominated in the category of stunt coordination.

All of the aforementioned shows have received positive reviews during their respective seasons/runs. WandaVision, in particular, seemed to be assured a shoo-in for at least one category. However, I’m not sure many would’ve expected this much recognition for them, yet you love to see it.

It’s hard not to consider what this could mean going forward, especially as superhero shows continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with the genre. It’s a lengthy conversation to have but, at the moment, let’s just bask in the glow of these nominations.

A lot of people can probably understand getting a great job, and then having to come to the realization that, of course, everything isn't exactly perfect with it. For most of us, that would be something like finding out the free coffee and snacks in the kitchen are terrible, or noticing that the person in the cubicle across from you never stops talking. But, for those among us lucky enough to play our favorite superheroes (or villains), quite frequently it involves hours spent in constricting or otherwise difficult to wear costumes and / or makeup. Such is the case with WandaVision cast member Paul Bettany, who recently revealed that he broke down once while in his Vision gear on set.

As long-time fans will remember, Paul Bettany's time in the MCU started with his voice-only role as Tony Star's A.I., Jarvis. But, Bettany transitioned to playing the heavily made-up, well-costumed hero, Vision, during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, and after a devastating end, brought the character back for WandaVision earlier this year. During his recent interview for ACE Universe Presents: A Conversation with Paul Bettany (via ComicBook), Bettany opened up about the one time he "flipped out" on set after being in the costume for too long, and noted:

I'm sure we all appreciate Paul Bettany being honest about how it feels "embarrassing" to complain about any aspect of his work as Vision. He understands that he's in a privileged position as an actor who got paid well for a steady gig for several years to suit up as the popular character, but, that doesn't mean dealing with his costume wasn't sometimes a pain. And, we've heard similar things from plenty of other actors who've taken on major Marvel, DC, and other roles which require restrictive costumes.

Ryan Reynolds, for instance, famously called his Deadpool costume "a big, red body condom" and claimed he could "taste my own genitals" while wearing the all-encompassing suit. As we can all imagine, just from looking at the average comicbook hero suit, they tend to be incredibly tight and need teams of people to help the actors into and out of them, meaning that Paul Bettany was far from able to just slide his Vision wear off and on when he needed a bit of a break. Once you're "encased" in it, you're in it unless you ask to assemble the team to help you get it off.

Paul Bettany also noted that "you need to be in a really good place in your head" to wear these costumes, because they are almost always "incredibly claustrophobic" to wear, so we should all be glad that he managed to get through the entire WandaVision shoot with only one freak out.

Aside from White Vision still being out in the world and potentially returning at some point in the MCU, Paul Bettany's time with Marvel appears to be over. Paul Bettany has been a fixture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for some time now. The actor originally started as Tony Stark’s faithful A.I., J.A.R.V.I.S., before becoming one of the Avengers’ most powerful members, Vision. The actor has proven to have great affection for his lovable android, so he was surprised and ecstatic when he was asked to reprise the role for Disney+’s WandaVision. However, jumping back into the fan-favorite role wasn’t totally easy for Bettany. He recently revealed that he was actually a bit concerned about playing the role again on the TV show.

Before WandaVision, Paul Bettany had already played Vision three times, meaning he pretty much knew the ins and outs of the character. But WandaVision provided a different kind of Marvel experience for him and co-star Elizabeth Olsen. The show would be a salute to TV, with their characters running through various sitcom motifs throughout different decades. As Bettany explained to THR, this caused him to be somewhat worried going into the series:

Paul Bettany was concerned with maintaining the essence of his character while sliding him into the different styles of sitcoms. Doing so was likely a challenge for the actor but, based on his performance, he managed to pull it off without a hitch. The Vision remained the kind and cerebral character he’s always been, but the flashes of Dick Van Dyke and other famous TV actors only enhanced the hero, adding fresh (and comedic) layers to him.

Overall, Paul Bettany seems to have enjoyed his experience on WandaVision, but it did get a little bumpy off camera. The fan-favorite actor created a little bit of controversy when he claimed that he would be working with a major guest, who was revealed to be himself in the role of White Vision. Bettany recently confirmed that while Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige really took no issue with the joke, he personally regrets trolling the fans.

There may not have been a surprise cameo, but there is still reason to be excited. The introduction of White Vision means that Paul Bettany’s MCU journey may not be finished. However, at this point, the actor isn’t quite sure if or when he’ll reprise the role in the future. To put it simply, Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen knocked it out of the park when it came time for WandaVision. You have to appreciate that the two stars were able to maintain the integrity of their roles while hamming up for the camera to amp up the comedy. I don’t know about you all, but I think some Emmys love is needed.

For almost two decades, fans of Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany’s Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World have hoped that a sequel would eventually happen. Crowe himself fueled those hopes over the years, as he would encourage fans to make enough noise to see Captain Jack Aubrey return to the high seas. Well, the good captain, and his surgeon friend, will be returning; but unfortunately, it sounds like a reboot is the path that this former Fox franchise will be taking.

Per an announcement reported by Deadline, the next adaptation of author Patrick O’Brien’s legendary 21-book series is going to go back all the way to square one. Telling the origin story of Captain Aubrey and Dr. Stephen Maturin’s careers and friendship, this new Master and Commander film is allegedly being sourced from O’Brien’s first novel in the sequence. Writing this new script is author and screenwriter Patrick Ness, who is known for adapting two of his own novels for the screen: Chaos Walking and A Monster Calls.

The dream of a Master and Commander sequel has been a fire burning as far back as 2009, which in itself was some time removed from the 2003 theatrical release of director Peter Weir’s initial foray. It was a concern that was even brought up as late as 2017, when Russell Crowe broke the news that a potential sequel was still being developed at then studio 20th Century Fox. Now, in a post-merger world, with 20th Century Studios being the name on the door, it looks like those in charge are ready to return to the high seas of British naval adventure.

It’s a heartbreaker for fans of Russell Crowe’s Aubrey and Paul Bettany’s Maturin, as the actors shared quite a bit of chemistry in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Plus, the rousing action and personal drama that mixed together to make that previous film created a franchise starter that won fans and became an Academy Award winner in the same Oscar class as Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. But alas, if you were hoping for a return of Crowe and Bettany in this particular context, that ship seems to have sailed.

On the bright side of things, there’s a new opportunity for the Aubrey/Maturin series to win new fans in a Master and Commander reboot. With a fresh pair of actors, and a firm vision on how to adapt Patrick O’Brien’s novels in the long term, the brand recognition could reignite the public’s love of these characters. And there’s always a chance that both Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany could pop in for a cameo, to tug at the heartstrings of fans who remember when they were the faces of Master and Commander.

Shifts such as this aren’t easy, so we’ll just have to wait and see how Master and Commander’s perceived reboot progresses. In the meantime, 2021’s release schedule harbors quite a few films that can quell the heart of those looking for adventure. But should you want to introduce/reintroduce yourself to the charms of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, that film is currently available to stream, along with all the other best titles this month can muster, on Prime Video.

Disney+’s WandaVision managed to tell a complete story that focused on the relationship between Wanda Maximoff and Vision and, in the process, it carved out their futures in the MCU. While Wanda’s status as the Scarlet Witch was solidified, Vision’s fate was a bit more complex. Late in the series, it was revealed that S.W.O.R.D. reconstructed the original Vision (now White Vision), and he would ultimately do battle with the “Hex Vision” Wanda created. But in the end, White Vision would gain the memories of his Hex counterpart before flying off. It’s currently unclear as to what lies ahead for the character, and Vision actor Paul Bettany was recently asked about possibly bringing the character back to the MCU.

With White Vision still out there, it’s only natural that fans have questions about what may or may not lie ahead for him. Paul Bettany seemed to enjoy portraying White Vision, so much so that he even trolled fans with the reveal. But when asked about potentially reprising the role, Bettany told The Playlist that he’s unsure of what’s to come, especially since he’s not under contract at the moment:

It would seem that as of right now, Paul Bettany’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t a sure thing. This may be disappointing for fans who are hoping to see more of his new character. White Vision was a major player in the comics, particularly in the pages of West Coast Avengers. During the same interview, Bettany explained that he understood just how popular that iteration of Vision is, and it sounds like he and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige had been discussing his introduction for a while:

Despite Paul Bettany apparently not having a contract with Marvel Studios, the ambiguous nature of White Vision’s fate would seem to mean that he could return at some point. And there are honestly a number of upcoming MCU productions that he could potentially pop up in over the next few years.

WandaVision allowed Paul Bettany to truly showcase his talents as an actor and, as a result, he gave what’s arguably his best turn as the Vision. Hopefully, Marvel Studios chooses to keep him in the fold and allows him to further develop this new variation of the beloved MCU character.

During its run, WandaVision had a number of mysteries surrounding it, but fan theories and conversations went into arguably went into overdrive after co-lead Paul Bettany teased a huge cameo. But fans suffered a letdown when it was revealed that the guest star was actually Bettany himself (in the role of White Vision). Now, the MCU star has revealed that once the Disney+ series ended, he apparently had a conversation with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige in regard to his hyping up the character.

During the show's run, Paul Bettany did an interview in which he explained that he was excited to be working with someone he'd yet to work with before, later confirming that he was referring to himself, as both versions of Vision would interact on WandaVision. While viewers were disappointed by the trolling, Bettany told The Playlist does not believe it backfired too much and went on to reveal what Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige thought about his actions:

While Kevin Feige might’ve found the “joke” funny, it goes without saying that the joke caused major waves across the internet, as fans scrambled to uncover the identity of the person Paul Bettany was referring to. Everyone from Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and the X-Men to the Fantastic Four and Mephisto were drawn into the fan speculation. Viewers (including myself) spent weeks looking for Easter eggs in the Disney+ series and putting things together. While White Vision was a pleasant surprise, he simply wasn't the MCU surprise fans were hoping for. Thankfully, for fans and Marvel Studios itself, things worked out better on the surprise front when it came to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

White Vision came into play during the final two episodes of WandaVision and partially served as an antagonist. Constructed by shady acting S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward, the updated android was meant to take out Wanda Maximoff. However, the "Hex Vision" created by Wanda stepped in but, instead of duking it out until the end, Hex Vision instilled his memories into his newly created counterpart, who flew off afterward. While the character's fate was left ambiguous, some believe there's room for him to return.

Hopefully, Paul Bettany will return to the MCU, especially given the multiverse direction of Phase Four and beyond. It would be nice to see where White Vision ends up and, if you'd like to see the character in action, you can stream WandaVision on Disney+ now.

As the Star Wars franchise moves forward, fans remain excited about a number of upcoming projects, particularly those headed to the small screen. Obi-Wan Kenobi is definitely among those shows and, with the series having recently kicked off production, the hype is only growing. Ewan McGregor is headlining the show, as he returns to his fan-favorite role as the titular Jedi Master. While the actor can’t say much about the limited series, he did recently tease a special cameo, which is making me excited -- and giving me flashbacks to Paul Bettany’s WandaVision mess.

Marvel Cinematic Universe fans likely remember that while WandaVision was on the air, co-lead Paul Bettany had a bit of fun trolling fans, who were already picking apart episodes every week. During an interview, Bettany explained that he got to work with someone on the show that he’d “longed to work with all of my life” and said that he and the person had “extraordinary” chemistry. Many fans assumed he was referring to a totally new MCU character but, after the show unveiled a white variation of Vision (also played by Bettany), many began to wonder if that was the cameo the actor was referring to. Bettany would later confirm this was the case.

Needless to say, a number of viewers were left disappointed by Paul Bettany’s playful deception and, even now, some Marvel fans may still feel a bit burned. But after Ewan McGregor’s recent Obi-Wan Kenobi tease, could Star Wars fans be in for a similar situation? These were McGregor’s exact words during his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!:

On the surface, Ewan McGregor’s words do seem to run somewhat parallel to those made by Paul Bettany. It’s honestly hard not to feel mixed emotions, though, as there could indeed be a special cameo planned. But on the other hand, some may be hesitant to accept them due to the experience with Bettany.

There are, however, reasons to believe that Ewan McGregor is telling the truth. May the Fourth is a major day among Star Wars fans and those that work within the franchise, so there’s a firm chance a major scene with a significant cameo was planned for that day. Also, McGregor hasn’t proven to be nearly as much of a prankster as Bettany has over the years.

It’s going to be a while before we find out the truth behind this Obi-Wan Kenobi cameo, but there’s reason to believe that Ewan McGregor is a man of his word. However, you can bet that until the scene actually airs on our screens, many fans -- like Obi-Wan -- might have a bad feeling about this.

From a galaxy far away to the most successful cinematic universe of all time, and the other way around, there have been multiple actors who have appeared in Star Wars movies and Marvel movies throughout their career. It doesn’t take long to come up with names like Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Mads Mikkelsen, but there have been actors whose performances in either the MCU or Star Wars that have been lost to time. But no more as we have put together an extensive list of the actors who have shown up at time or another in both franchises.

Now, before we get started we should lay out some rules about who is being included and why. The list only includes actors who have appeared in the MCU in addition to Star Wars at some point. This doesn’t include any of the films in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters or any other Marvel film franchise like X-Men or Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.

Samuel L. Jackson - Mace Windu/Nick Fury

When thinking of actors who have shown up in Star Wars and the MCU over the years, the first person to come to mind is more times than not none other than Samuel L. Jackson. I mean how could you forget Mace Windu and his awesome purple lightsaber in the Prequel Trilogy starting with the family friendly Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace and his badass scenes throughout his other two appearances in the trilogy.

And then there is Samuel L. Jackson’s work in the MCU, which started with the iconic Iron Man post-credits scene when his version of Nick Fury introduced himself to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) about starting the Avengers Initiative. The rest, well, it’s history, and Fury has become one of the franchise’s most beloved and mysterious characters to date.

Natalie Portman - Padmé Amidala/Jane Foster

Natalie Portman is another massive star to appear in both Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe with plenty more Marvel on the way including her return for Thor: Love and Thunder. First introduced to the MCU in 2011’s Thor as Jane Foster, one the world’s premier astrophysicists and eventual love interest to Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder, Portman appeared in the franchise’s second installment Thor: The Dark World in 2013 before stepping away from Marvel for what will be nearly a decade before she takes up the mantel of Lady Thor in the upcoming sequel.

Natalie Portman was also instrumental throughout the three Star Wars prequels as the queen-turned-senator from Naboo and eventual mother of Luke and Leia before dying of a broken heart in Star Wars: Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith.

Paul Bettany - Dryden Vos/Vision/Jarvis

Even though Solo: A Star Wars Story is considered a failure by many, one of the 2018 film’s stars, Paul Bettany is actually quite fond of the standalone movie. And honestly, he has every right to feel that way considering he was one of the best things about the movie (along with another actor who appeared in both Star Wars and the MCU) with his portrayal of Dryden Vos, the figurehead leader of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate.

Paul Bettany’s stellar Solo performance is par for the course for the talented and versatile actor who has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe longer than just about everyone else. After voicing Tony Stark’s AI Jarvis going back to 2008’s Iron Man, Bettany portrayed the character as well as Vision in a number of MCU movies before getting his very own Disney+ series with WandaVision in 2021 where he trolled the hell out of the show’s fans.

Andy Serkis - Supreme Leader Snoke/Ulysses Klaue

More times than not, when we see Andy Serkis in a movie, it’s either under a ton of makeup or a CGI character brought to life by the actor’s masterful motion-capture work. That can’t be said for his two appearances in the MCU where he portrayed crime lord Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and again in Black Panther (with that deadly cybernetic arm) before getting killed off by Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) before the villain made his return to Wakanda.

Over on the Star Wars side of things, Andy Serkis did what he does best when he performed all the motion-capture work for Supreme Leader Snoke starting in The Force Awakens before being cut in half in the much-maligned sequel The Last Jedi. And while everyone thought the character (and Serkis) would have a much longer shelf life in the franchise, his early departure shouldn’t take away from his performance.

Benicio Del Toro - DJ/The Collector

Benicio del Toro has appeared in three different MCU movies over the years, portraying Taneleer Tivan, aka The Collector, in Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and finally Avengers: Infinity War. A crucial character in the Infinity Saga, The Collector played a prominent role in helping audiences better grasp the concept of the Infinity Stones and Thanos’ quest to secure all six.

Long before he appeared as DJ, the untrustworthy codebreaker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Benicio del Toro was originally up for the role of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace but later dropped out and delayed his debut in the galaxy far, far away for nearly 20 years.

Donald Glover - Lando Calrissian/Aaron Davis/Prowler

Donald Glover was already a big name when he was cast as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story with his popular Atlanta series and work on Community making a strong case, but he reached another level of stardom when he took on the role first made popular by Billy Dee Williams nearly 40 years earlier. And while Solo wasn’t anyone’s favorite Star Wars movie, Glover’s Lando was worth the price of admission alone.

A year before making his Star Wars debut, however, Donald Glover appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming in a seemingly small capacity, but as a character with an extensive history in Marvel Comics. His one-scene performance as Aaron Davis, aka Prowler was a fun little easter egg and one that CinemaBlend predicted back in June 2016. Let’s just hope this wasn’t a one-and-done role for the Hollywood renaissance man.

Mads Mikkelsen - Galen Erso/Kaecilius

Mads Mikkelsen, who has made a career out of playing villains, served as one of the main antagonists in 2016’s Doctor Strange when he took on the role of Kaecilius, a former member of the Masters of the Mystics Arts who brought Dormammu to Earth before becoming forever trapped in the Dark Dimension.

Over in Star Wars, however, Mads Mikkelsen played a less evil character (considering the circumstances) with his portrayal of Galen Erso, the father of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Although he was responsible for the creation of the Death Star, Erson did put in a crucial flaw in the battle station’s defenses.

Lupita Nyong’o - Maz Kanata/Nakia

Andy Serkis isn’t the only future Marvel actor to pull of some impressive motion-capture work in a Star Wars movie as Lupita Nyong’o helped bring the CGI character Maz Kanata to life in 2015’s The Force Awakens. With the help of talented artists, Nyong’o’s animated Force-sensitive character who proved to be a key ally for Rey (Daisy Ridley) and company throughout the sequel trilogy.

Not long after appearing in Star Wars, Lupita Nyong’o moved over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe where she took on the role of Nakia, one of T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman) biggest allies and love interest in Black Panther.

Forest Whitaker - Saw Gerrera/Zuri

Forest Whitaker’s Zuri was at the center of the complicated history of Wakanda that came back to nearly overthrow reclusive nation in Black Panther, but even though the elder was responsible for one of T’Chaka’s (John Kani) worst moments, he tried to prevent history from repeating itself, putting his life on the line in the process.

Over on the Star Wars side of thing, Forest Whitaker portrayed the paranoid revolutionary figure Saw Gerrera in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that walked a fine line between ally of the rebellion and overzealous terrorist. That moral ambiguity was one of the reasons why Whitaker enjoyed taking on the memorable character.

Jon Favreau - Rio Durant/Happy Hogan

In addition to creating the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian, actor/director/producer/writer Jon Favreau has appeared in the Star Wars galaxy in an acting role, voicing Rio Durant in Solo: A Story Wars Story. The good-natured, four-armed pilot was at the center of the film’s big heist, dying in the process.

Over on the Marvel side of things, there are few people who have been more instrumental in launching the MCU and keeping it going over the years than Jon Favreau. In addition to directing two of the first three movies in the franchise with his Iron Man movies, Favreau has appeared in numerous movies as Happy Hogan, including giving us one of the most emotional scenes in Avengers: Endgame.

Ben Mendelsohn - Orson Krennic/Talos

History would tell you that Ben Mendelsohn would have been the one playing the villain when he appeared as Talos, one of the main Skrulls at the center of Captain Marvel, but the veteran Australian actor proved that he was capable of playing an unassuming hero who doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon.

The same can’t be said for his portrayal of the Imperial Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Even though he never really got a fair shake and was constantly knocked down a few pegs by Grand Moff Tarkin (Guy Henry) who even took Krennic’s Death Star from him, when the director of the Imperial’s military research division was about as evil as evil can be.

Hannah John-Kamen - First Order Bridge Officer/Ghost

Hannah John-Kamen appeared as Ant-Man and the Wasp antagonist Ava Starr, aka Ghost, a character who needed a special suit to provide relief for her unstable quantum state following an accident as a young child. And while not much has been said about a possible return to the MCU, John-Kamen has teased fans about that for a couple years now.

A couple years before she joined the MCU, Hannah John-Kamen appeared briefly in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the First Order bridge officer who told General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) that Starkiller Base’s powerful weapon would soon be operational.

Richard Armitage - Naboo Fighter Pilot/Heinz Kruger

Richard Armitage, who would go on to portray Thorin Oakenshield in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy, appeared in his first movie back in 1999 when he had a very small part as a Naboo fighter pilot in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

A little more than a decade later, Richard Armitage would make a lot of out of a short amount of time in Captain America: The First Avenger, appearing as Hydra spy Heinz Kruger who attempts to steal the super soldier serum and kills Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) before being chased down by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his new superhuman powers.

Peter Serafinowicz - Darth Maul (Voice)/Garthan Saal

And then there is Peter Serafinowicz, who played Nova Corps officer Garthan Saal in Guardians of the Galaxy. Featured in several key scenes throughout the 2014 surprise hit, Saal was one of the Nova Corps pilots to sacrifice themselves in an attempt to prevent Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) from decimating Xandar.

Fifteen years before joining the MCU, Peter Serafinowicz provided the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace after he was brought in to overdub Ray Park’s original dialogue during post-production. He would later have harsh words for the movie.

These are just a few of the actors who have appeared in Star Wars and the MCU over the years, as dozens have appeared in smaller roles in each property. This also doesn’t even begin to touch on the names who have appeared in Star Wars or Marvel shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s Erin Kellyman, Luke Cage’s Jessica Henwick, or The Mandalorian’s Rosario Dawson and Ming-N Wen. We will just have to wait and see if this list continues to grow with all the upcoming Star Wars movies and Marvel Phase 4 and beyond.

Well, I would say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is off to a pretty amusing start with their new line-up of multi-episode Disney+ exclusives. By kicking things with off with the return of Elizabeth Olsen, as Scarlet Witch, leading one of the most bizarre comic book adaptations ever, the franchise, in its typical fashion, resolved a few pressing mysteries while prompting new questions for us to ponder. For instance, how does the WandaVision cast intend to follow-up such a game-changer of a TV series?

Developed by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, the 9-episode miniseries event brought back a few MCU veterans, newcomers to the live action comic book adaptation scene, and even one surprising cameo suggesting a groundbreaking movie universe crossover to perform this mind-boggling, avant-garde recreation of classic sitcoms throughout history. It also helps that a few stars already had experience acting in television comedies.

That being said, is a return to sitcom glory (or even a more traditional debut of it) to be expected for some of WandaVision’s most notable cast members? We shall figure out the answer to that and more when we take a dive into what the stars of the hit MCU show have next on their plates, starting with the magical, Marvelous main character herself.

Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch)

Ironically, one of Elizabeth Olsen’s first acting gigs was an uncredited 1995 appearance on Full House with her older twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, years before sending up other sitcoms of the era as her MCU character on WandaVision. Now officially dubbed the Scarlet Witch, the 32-year-old actress will continue to explore Wanda Maximoff’s journey in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, director Sam Raimi’s upcoming Benedict Cumberbatch-led sequel, which is currently filming and set for a 2022 release.

Paul Bettany (Vision)

Sitcoms have never appeared on Paul Bettany's filmography, so I suppose we can thank his comedically charged performance as a medieval hype man in A Knight's Tale and JARVIS' built-in penchant for sarcasm in the early MCU movies for his smooth transition into the sitcom dad role. The 49-year-old actor, who also played the closeted title character of Amazon Prime's Uncle Frank, will next star in the BBC/Amazon Prime original miniseries A Very British Scandal as Duke of Argyll Ian Campbell during the time of his messy divorce from Duchess Margaret (Claire Foy). However, despite its tearful conclusion, the WandaVision finale hints that we have not yet seen the last of Bettany as Vision (or, perhaps, as White Vision).

Kathryn Hahn (Agnes/Agatha Harkness)

From her hilarious recurring spot on Parks and Recreation, major role in 2015's The Visit, and voicing Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Kathryn Hahn was fully prepared to play a nosy neighbor on WandaVision, who turns out to be a witch named Agatha Harkness, whom the 47-year-old Emmy nominee hopes to reappear as someday. Until then, she is set to reunite with her Anchorman co-stars Will Ferrell and (fellow MCU actor) Paul Rudd for a series adaptation of the true crime podcast The Shrink Next Door for Apple TV+, where she will also reprise her role on the animated musical series Central Park in Season 2.

Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau)

Even though Teyonah Parris had already been announced as the MCU's grown-up Monica Rambeau, her identity was revealed on WandaVision in a pretty memorable way. Hopefully, 2021 will be the year horror fans finally see the Dear White People star in the Jordan Peele-produced "rebootquel" of Candyman, helmed by Nia DaCosta, who will also direct Parris in Captain Marvel II, which likely sees the newly super-powered Monica officially debut as Photon (or, as the comics currently refer to her as, Spectrum) in 2022. The 33-year-old is also filming the sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, with John Boyega and Jamie Foxx.

Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo)

Before first appearing in the MCU in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, Randall Park was best known as Louis Huang on Fresh Off the Boat, Kim Jong-Un in The Interview, and, of course, "Asian Jim" on The Office in 2012. While I am sure that we will see more of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent turned Fed, Jimmy Woo, after WandaVision, I cannot be certain of where or when. I can say, however, that the 46-year-old Always Be My Maybe writer and star has a voice role in August 2021's Paw Patrol: The Movie, among a number of other projects in development, including a currently untitled collaboration with Hawaii Five-0's Daniel Dae Kim.

Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis)

Kat Dennings actually joined the MCU in 2011's Thor just months before hitting sitcom glory with 2 Broke Girls and, even more fascinating, landed her first starring role on the short-lived comedy Raising Dad opposite a young Brie Larson in 2001. The 34-year-old actress has been able to confirm that there is more of her as Darcy Lewis to come after WandaVision, but she was not able say much else, other than the slightly disappointing reveal that it will not be in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Josh Stamberg (Director Tyler Hayward)

After many recurring spots and guest appearances on notable series like The Affair and Parenthood, Josh Stamberg landed a major, major starring role on a TV series as S.W.O.R.D.'s ruthless director Tyler Hayward, which also served as a reunion for him and his Afternoon Delight co-star Kathryn Hahn, and Paul Bettany, whom he appeared in the 2010 fantasy action thriller Legion with. At the moment, there is, evidently, nothing to report on what the 50-year-old actor has in store next, but I would be willing to bet his time on WandaVision could be the beginning of one vengeful MCU arc.

Debra Jo Rupp (Mrs. Hart/Sharon Davis)

For all of its heart-stopping cameos, one of the more endearingly heartwarming appearances on WandaVision was that of Debra Jo Rupp as the wife of Vision's boss, Mr. Hart, in a wonderful callback to her best-known role on That '70s Show as the aggressively motherly Kitty Forman. This, of course, would turn out to be nothing more than her sitcom-esque persona under the manipulation of one grief-stricken Wanda Maximoff, but I digress. The 70-year-old Friends actress is swerving a bit further into dramatic acting by starring in the dark comedy Butterscotch, which is currently in pre-production.

Julian Hilliard (Billy Maximoff)

When Eagle-Eyed Marvel Comics fans were able to preemptively put together that WandaVision was taking inspiration from the famous House of M storyline, it became pretty clear that the pair of infants Wanda and Vision held in the trailer were going to be their magically created twin boys, Billy and Tommy. Playing Billy is Julian Hilliard, whom you may recognize mainly from several horror movies and TV shows, including Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House as a young Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and in Color Out of Space as Nicolas Cage's onscreen son. The 9-year-old will retain his early Scream King status when he appears in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in June 2021, as a real-life child who claimed his homicidal acts were the result of demonic possession.

Jett Klyne (Tommy Maximoff)

Playing Billy's fraternal twin brother, Tommy, is Jett Klyne, who has also gained quite the reputation for horror from roles such as the real Brahms in 2016's The Boy, a younger Harvey Kinkle on Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and a child with a very disturbing imaginary friend in the 2020 Shudder original film Z. I would not be surprised if both Tommy and Billy would one day reincarnate into their superhero personas, but there is no telling if the young WandaVision stars will be there to reprise them when the time comes. However, Klyne does have another project on the horizon, which is not horror, but a crime thriller of horrifying circumstances called 13 Steps, which has completed filming.

Evan Peters (Pietro Maximoff/Ralph Bohner)

As far as I (and likely the rest of the Marvel fandom) are concerned, no addition to the WandaVision cast was more bewildering and exhilarating than Evan Peters, seemingly filling in for his Kick-Ass co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson's slain MCU character by also reprising his X-Men franchise role of the same speedy superhero. However, some viewers were a little disappointed to learn in the series finale that the actor's Pietro Maximoff was really an ordinary man named Ralph Bohner (pronounced as it appears) under the control of Agatha Harkness, but I thought it was amusing enough. So, despite what we may have hoped, it does not appear that Peters is returning as Quicksilver, but is returning for Season 10 of American Horror Story and will also star opposite Kate Winslet in the crime drama series Mare of Easttown for HBO Max.

There are so many other great performers I wish I could have mentioned from WandaVision, such as David Payton as next-door neighbor Herb, or Asif Ali as Vision's co-worker Norm, or Ithamar Enriquez and Victoria Blade from all those creepy, Easter Egg-laden commercial interludes. Perhaps we will be able to put the spotlight on them another day. Besides, as this series has proven well, at Disney+, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is capable of pretty much anything by now.

Before 2021 arrived, Paul Bettany's biggest TV role was as Unabomber Ted Kaczynski for the crime drama Manhunt, but it's safe to say that solid effort has been eclipsed by the actor's Emmy-worthy performance at the synthezoid heart of the MCU's recently concluded WandaVision. Now, as fans are still wrestling with that finale's aftermath and what it means for Vision and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, it has been revealed that Bettany still be sticking with the small screen for his next noteworthy project. Bettany is teaming up with The Crown vet Claire Foy for the limited series A Very British Scandal.

Paul Bettany likely wanted to find a WandaVision follow-up that didn't require him to spend as much time in makeup chairs while dealing with as much CGI-infused stuntwork. And by all means, A Very British Scandal will be quite the change of pace compared to the superhero gig, even though the new show does technically share its 1960s timeline with the second episode of WandaVision.

With BBC One and Amazon Prime Video set as the linear and streaming homes for the new show on both sides of the pond, A Very British Scandal is the follow up to the acclaimed award-winning A Very English Scandal, which was led by Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. The three-episode project will center on Paul Bettany and Claire Foy as the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, and how their divorce became one of the most memorably scandalous and attention-grabbing legal cases in modern times.

As Margaret Campbell, Claire Foy will presumably be a picture of grace and beauty, although that image will certainly be put to the test when A Very British Scandal digs into the juicy details of her high-profile split from Paul Bettany's Ian Campbell. The Duke became increasingly suspicious of the Duchess' potential infidelity, and in the midst of their court case, he used divisive means in bringing to light evidence that pointed to affairs with multiple men, and there were secret recordings, illicit Polaroids, drugs, forgery and bribery involved, and that's not even an exhaustive checklist.

The new drama will explore the Duke and Duchess' scandals inside and out in giving viewers a mirror into the post-war climate central to Britain, and it will raise questions about institutionalized misogyny as Claire Foy's Margaret will be perhaps unfairly taken to task by not only the legal system, but also the press and the friends whom she considered closest to her. Through it all, however, the Duchess was a picture of resilience and courage, standing up for herself despite the public shaming.

Sounds like we won't get to see a lot of heroic behavior from Paul Bettany, as his Duke will likely be portrayed with antagonistic flair, even though the royal figure was indeed wronged in certain ways. Check out the actor's statement on the announcement below:

A Very English Scandal will be written by Sarah Phelps, a noteworthy TV scribe who penned scripts for such projects as Great Expectations, The Casual Vacancy, EastEnders, Dublin Murders, The Pale Horse and many more. Handling the directorial effort will be Anne Sewitsky, a Norwegian talent who is best known to U.S. audiences for her work on episodes of Black Mirror, Castle Rock and Monsterland.

Production is set to kick off on A Very British Scandal later this year across the UK, and a premiere date will likely be set for BBC One and Amazon Prime Video at some point closer to filming being completed. In the meantime, feel free to go back and watch WandaVision's first and only season a 17th time, since all those theories about White Vision and Mephisto aren't going to work on his new show.

I know I’m not the only one thinking this when I say WandaVision confirmed that Paul Bettany’s Vision is hot now. He may be a whole lot of purple but, when the Disney+ series showed the character in various clothes and hairstyles as he raised TV children with Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda, he gave us real hot dad energy. Plus, the character philosophically debating the Ship of Theseus with himself instead of yet another violent brawl? No one’s doing it like him. And back when his first appearance in Age of Ultron was being developed, there were apparently a lot of discussions around seeing a lot more of Vision... quite literally.

In the 2015 Avengers sequel, Paul Bettany’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe went from being a voice in Tony Stark’s armor to becoming a full-fledged synthezoid who is born midway through the movie. Paul Bettany recently offered more details about the creation of Vision in Age of Ultron, who was originally going to have a penis in the movie. In his words:

When Bettany spoke on Conan, he remembered how Age of Ultron’s director initially wanted Vision to have a visible penis during his birth scene, because why not? But the other collaborators involved weren’t into it. The actor continued with:

Yeah, sounds like the right call… let’s keep it PG-13. Even if we’re officially obsessed with Paul Bettany’s Vision nowadays, it doesn’t mean we need to see every angle of his anatomy. Though it is pretty hilarious to think about the visual effects folks over at Marvel being tasked with creating Vision’s penis for Joss Whedon, only for the filmmaker to realize he was wrong the whole time. But hey, it makes a funny story at least. If you’re curious for a rewatch about how the said scene turned out, here it is:

Now, this is tasteful. Vision emerges from his chamber in his birthday suit as one would do during their birth, but there’s no Vision penis on his anatomy to throw us off and take us out of the action sequence. Within about a minute of Vision being born, the character fashions his own suit to go over his purple body. And then the movie went back to the world-crushing mission at hand.

Following the WandaVision finale, we're not sure what’s in the cards for Paul Bettany’s Vision next, but Scarlet Witch’s storyline will officially continue in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which arrives on March 25, 2022. Major spoilers below for WandaVision's emotional series finale, fittingly titled "The Series Finale."

WandaVision's ninth and final episode completely veered away from the sitcom motif that framed the first eight installments, perhaps to signify the permanent return to a darker reality for Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda now that she has fully embraced her role as the Scarlet Witch. Magical battles intertwined with synthezoid philosophy during "The Series Finale," and Wanda's Hex was vanquished, bringing Westview back to its previous iteration, albeit with far more trauma. And while some answers were delivered, the episode obviously sparked another round of questions, though these may not get fully answered until the MCU sequels Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Captain Marvel 2 arrive.

Still, the knowledge that answers aren't coming is hardly a big enough deterrent to stop me and other fans from speculating about everything, just as we did for this entire season of WandaVision. While I'm extremely dolorous over the thought of going the rest of forever without new episodes to devour, at least there are these ponderings to savor until Wanda, Paul Bettany's Vision and others return down the road. (Assuming that road isn't being blocked off by maintenance workers and schoolchildren.)

Did Wanda Hear The “Real” Billy And Tommy, Or Was It A Trick?

In WandaVision's final moments ever, Wanda's refined magic was on display, as her Scarlet Witch astral projection was in the midst of reading through the Darkhold when she heard voices calling for her. Clearly, it sounded like Billy and Tommy, whom she'd heartbreakingly said goodbye to earlier in the episode. But if Wanda hadn't yet found a way to witch-spell them back into existence, could that somehow still be them somewhere else in the multiverse? Or is there someone else with ties to the Darkhold attempting to maliciously draw Wanda out of her seclusion?

What Exactly Did Agatha Mean About Wanda Unleashing Something Terrible?

Kathryn Hahn's Agatha was, oh, about eight episodes too late with her ominous warning that Wanda was unleashing something terrible, since the Hex was already a profoundly awful creation that will no doubt cast a long shadow over the public's view of Wanda. But did Wanda legitimately unlock something even more devastating, and if so...how? Could Wanda have overstepped her abilities and become TOO powerful by absorbing not only Agatha's magic powers, but also those of all the other Salem witches we saw? Could it be that the Scarlet Witch's magic isn't meant to mix with others, or is there something else Wanda did that will specifically lead to more chaos?

What Will Wanda And New Vision's Relationship Be?

In Marvel's "Vision Quest" storyline, the new white-hued Vision is too different for a relationship with Wanda to continue, to put it in the simplest terms, and they split apart for adventures with other heroes. But WandaVision seemed to set up a possible side-stepping of that concept, unless Kevin Feige & Co. plan on energy-beaming our heartstrings into oblivion by reversing the promise set up in Wanda and Hex-Vision's tearjerker of a final conversation. That said, it doesn't seem like Scarlet Witch is going to be happy-go-lucky in love when the shit hits the hexagonal fan in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so maybe she won't actually be able to connect with Vision 3.0.

What Is Monica Doing Next With Nick Fury And S.W.O.R.D.?

WandaVision's second-to-last scene was a bridge setting up Teyonah Parris' next MCU chapter as the powered-up Monica Rambeau, with a human-disguised Skrull telling Monica that her presence was being requested somewhere up in space by a friend of her mother Maria's. There's a 99% chance that moment was referencing Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, and a 1% chance the Skrull meant Reed Richards. (Hey, why not?) But what's next for Monica? There's a decent chance she'll be replacing Josh Stamberg's soon-to-be-incarcerated Tyler Hayward as S.W.O.R.D.'s acting Director, but what will become of their team-up, and how will it tie into Captain Marvel 2 and Spider-Man: Far From Home's post-credits scene?

When Will Wanda Return For Agatha’s Assistance?

One of the most brilliant decisions that WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer made in the finale was keeping Agatha alive. Not only would it have been a major disservice to the iconic comic book character, but it also would have been a flat-out tragedy to eliminate Katheryn Hahn from the MCU after her masterful performance throughout the season. (After all, it's "Agatha All Along," not "Agatha All Ashort.") So I cannot wait to see what kind of situation comes up that will bring Scarlet Witch back to Westview to call on Agatha's witching expertise. I mean, it'll likely connect to Wanda's hunt for Billy and Tommy, but no matter the reason, I also really want to see how much the seemingly powerless Agatha has been suffering while trapped in her nosy neighbor persona.

How Will Westview’s Citizens Handle Life For The Foreseeable Future?

To piggyback on Agatha's misery, how exactly is she going to live peacefully in Westview among all the other residents? Did Wanda pull off a spell that makes everyone else just accept Agatha's presence? That would be further heinousness, of course, since the real concern for Westview's citizens is how they will all cope psychologically with Wanda having subjugated their identities and free will for so long. If it got to the point where Debra Jo Rupp's Sharon Davis asked for death as opposed to living on inside the Hex, then it will no doubt be a mentally draining effort to revert back to real life with those memories intact. Especially when everyone is surrounded by others who experienced almost the exact same thing. Will any or all of them go public in condemning Scarlet Witch's actions, eventually turning her into a true villain to the public?

Could Evan Peters' Ralph Bohner Become Quicksilver In This Universe?

WandaVision took a weird swing with Evan Peters' fake Pietro, with his big finale scene revealing that he's actually the hopeful actor Ralph Bohner, Agnes' long-discussed husband. (That name, and Evan Peters' "boner" laugh, had to have earned the biggest collective audience groans in MCU history.) But was that all just a winking exercise in juvenile trolling, or does Marvel have more plans in store for Peters? Even if he's not playing a true crossover character from Fox's X-Men universe, is it possible that Ralph (or another version of him that actually IS from the Multiverse) could take over the Quicksilver mantle for Phase 4? It's assumed that his mutant-esque powers vanished when he stopped being controlled by Agatha's necklace, but Agatha did say that spells can't be reversed, so what if Ralph's super-speed is permanent?

*Was Monica The Only Person Who Gained Superpowers?*

Wanda's Hex would grow larger or shrink down, depending on her mental fortitude, which meant the radiation-filled barrier walls passed through untold numbers of people before the Hex was eradicated. Given how Monica's cells were rewriting themselves at molecular levels after joining and exiting Wanda's sitcom hijinks, it seemed like a ton of Westview residents were destined to also develop (mutant) powers. But because Monica was the only character shown to go through a physical ordeal when crossing through, that experience is likely what sparked her matter-phasing and other new abilities. Was she really the only person who went through that, though? Whatever happened to the S.W.O.R.D. agent in the beekeeper suit that Wanda zapped out? Assuming he even survived, are his cells also doing some rewriting?

Is Mephisto Ever Coming To The MCU?

Somewhere around 666 out of every 667 WandaVision theories tied back to the idea that Marvel's most hellacious demon Mephisto was pulling the strings somewhere inside or outside of the Hex. Naturally, Mephisto never arrived, but there's no denying a bunch of devilish quotes and references were sprinkled throughout the episodes. And since Agatha's dark magic wasn't nearly as evil and manipulative as Mephisto's powers can be, it's still safe to speculate that WandaVision was just planting seeds for the supernatural villain's arrival in the future. A likely entry point would be the Doctor Strange sequel, but he could even make his presence known in Loki or another project that precedes fans' journey into the Multiverse of Madness.

With all nine episodes of WandaVision now released and available to stream at any time on Disney+, MCU fans are now eagerly anticipating the high-budget action of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the mixed-up craziness of What If...?, with lots more comic book excitement to come after those shows. One WandaVision question that doesn't require more elaboration is "How awesome was it that Vision vs. Vision was solved by an ancient paradox?" Because the answer to that one is "so, so awesome."

A Beautiful Mind (Peacock)

Starting out strong here, A Beautiful Mind tells the story of a man, played by Russell Crowe, who has an absolutely stunning mind which could help humanity, but also works against him, creating delusions which lead him to panic.

The movie itself was incredibly successful, winning the award for Best Picture at the Academy Awards and three others, as well. In this film, we really see Paul Bettany in one of his first main roles which really tested the boundaries of what he could do. The topic of A Beautiful Mind is so intense, with a heavy focus on mental health, but Bettany’s character work fits in well with the story. It’s a much different version of the Bettany we all know and love from the Avengers – but that doesn’t make it any less entertaining.

Wimbledon (Peacock)

Moving on to a completely different genre, we enter into the sports world with Wimbledon. This sporting romantic comedy centers around an up-and-coming tennis star, played by Kirsten Dunst, who falls for one of the former best players in the world, portrayed by Paul Bettany.

This one is most certainly for fans of his latest show, WandaVision, because we really get to see Paul Bettany try his hand at the classic romantic-comedy trope, which we see plenty of in that series. Not only that, but the film is actually quite funny, and even if you’re not super into sports, this is one that you’ll definitely find something to love about, whether it be the relationship that builds up over time between the protagonists, to the star-studded cast, with actors like James McAvoy and Jon Favreau appearing alongside the star.

The Da Vinci Code (Hulu)

Now, this film is a classic. The Da Vinci Code tells the tale of a “symbologist” and a cryptologist who set out on a quest to find the legendary Holy Grail, but with plenty of twists and turns during the journey.

I know from the premise it sounds like this movie is going to be something that is entirely focused on religion, but I’m here to tell you that is not the case. In fact, The Da Vinci Code is one of the best mystery thrillers out there, with plenty of action and suspense to keep you watching. The cast, including Paul Bettany, is amazing, with actors Tom Hanks, Sir Ian McKellen, and more, shining in this film. Bettany really tries his hand at the thriller genre here and succeeds quite well, so if you’re into mysteries, as WandaVision has had plenty, this is the movie for you.

Creation (Amazon Prime)

When I tell you that Paul Bettany has been all over the map of movie genres, I am not joking. Now, we step over to a biographical drama in Creation, the story of Charles Darwin’s relationship with his wife, and the memory he has of his eldest daughter, while he writes On the Origin of Species.

As someone who doesn’t know much about history, this movie was actually interesting to watch. I loved hearing about the life of one of the most known scientific men in history, and how he had struggles with his own family, considering his wife was very religious, and the way his theories were seen. Paul Bettany does a great job of portraying the legendary Charles Darwin and really makes you think deeply about the separation of science and religion, and how if you try hard enough, you really can find common ground among the two.

Legion (Amazon Prime)

Now we move over to something that is the complete opposite of the last film, as Legion is an action horror film about the end of days. When God basically decides he’s had enough of humankind and loses faith, he sends down his legion of angels to destroy everything. It is up to the Archangel Michael, and a bunch of strangers trapped in a diner, to stop it.

Let me just say this movie is entertaining, especially with Paul Bettany taking on the role of Michael. I had such a great time watching it, because it’s an interesting concept to see one of God’s most powerful angels decide to take on God's entire army to save humankind. It’s heavy, intense, and full of fights that will have you cheering on the characters from your couch. Plus, the movie even led to a short-lived TV show – which just proves that it’s a lot of fun.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (Disney+)

Alright, I’m going to stand up and say that Solo: A Star Wars Story was not bad, dang it, and Bettany does a great job in it. Solo: A Star Wars Story is exactly as you think it is – the origin story of the famous Han Solo from the Star Wars saga, even with the introduction of Chewie thrown in there as well.

Was Solo: A Star Wars Story as good as some of the other stand-alone Star Wars films? No; at least not in my opinion. But, I do not think it deserves the slander it has gotten from fans. Paul Bettany did an excellent job as a villain, even if he was cast at the last minute near the end of the film’s production. And, with co-stars like Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and more beside him, the movie is filled to the brim with talent. It’s worth a shot to watch if you’re a fan of Star Wars.

Uncle Frank (Amazon Prime)

One of his more recent films, Paul Bettany really shows off his acting chops in this one. Uncle Frank is about the story of Frank, a closeted gay man who goes on a road trip to confront his past.

While, yes, the premise does sound like the most basic road trip movie you could ever imagine, Paul Bettany does a fantastic job of drawing your attention and keeping the pace of the plot moving along. The comedy flows fantastically, even though it can be dark at some points. Not only that, but the pairing of Paul Bettany’s Frank and Sophia Lillis’ Beth in this movie works so well. You never feel that they’re acting because their familial relationship seems so real. Trust me – it may sound average, but Uncle Frank is anything but.

Age Of Ultron (And Other Marvel Movies) (Disney+)

I can’t have a Paul Bettany list without mentioning the man, the myth, the legend: Vision. Avengers: Age of Ultron is the second Avengers movie in the MCU saga, where the Avengers now need to take on a new threat in Ultron, an android with a mind of its own who wants to completely destroy humanity.

While Vision appears for the first time in Avengers: Age of Ultron, you can catch Bettany multiple times in other movies – as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark's A.I. You really get to see the scope of Vision’s powers and what he’s able to do here. We always talk about how Robert Downey Jr. was at the very beginning of the MCU, when, technically, so was Paul Bettany – and now he even has his own show, so take that, Iron Man! (I’m just kidding, I love Iron Man too! Don’t hurt me!)

WandaVision (Disney+)

While I know this is in the title and you’ve probably already watched it, I wanted to put it in here again because while the MCU movies might have introduced us to Vision, WandaVision actually made us care for him in a way I don’t think anyone ever did before. WandaVision is all about the aftermath of Wanda Maximoff losing the love of her life, Vision, in the war against Thanos, and the destruction she's left in her path while trying to find a semblance of happiness.

But, what really makes WandaVision tick is that it expands on these two characters so well. We don’t really get to know Paul Bettany’s Vision that much from the movies, or Wanda Maximoff, considering they were more like side-characters as opposed to some other Avengers, but now we really get a look into their life.

As fans of Marvel, we start to see this whole new compassionate, different side of Vision that we had never seen before, and of course, we begin to care for this relationship, as dangerous as it might be for the state of humanity. It really takes these two characters and digs into their psyches, and I can always appreciate a show that makes you learn to love a character you never really liked before.

With plenty of Paul Bettany to choose from, I’m sure there’s a genre and movie which will suit your fancy.

Things can get pretty exciting when shooting a film, especially those feature massive moments like fight scenes. While fight sequences probably aren’t the first things that come to mind when one thinks of The Da Vinci Code. However, the film still has some tense moments, a number of which involve Paul Bettany’s Silas, the albino Catholic monk who works for “The Teacher.” One particular scene saw Silas punch Tom Hanks’ Robert Langdon in the gut and, it turns out, Bettany caused Hanks to fart in the process.

During the film, Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu pay a visit to Langdon’s friend, Sir Leigh Teabing, an expert on the Holy Grail. During their visit, Silas breaks into the house and punches Langdon. Paul Bettany recently recalled shooting that scene from The Da Vinci Code and remembers the set being incredibly quiet at the time. With this, everyone was all ears when Tom Hanks let out a fart due to Bettany’s punch:

Needless to say, Paul Bettany and Tom Hanks shared a pretty memorable (and awkward) moment together. During his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the WandaVision star further admitted he was at a loss after punching Hanks. He also revealed his co-star’s hilarious reaction to his punch:

In all honesty, that’s probably how most of us would respond if we had just farted loudly on set after being punched by a co-star. Thankfully though, Tom Hanks seems to have a pretty good sense of humor, as does Paul Bettany. Based on Bettany’s tone, it sounds like Hanks wasn’t seriously offended by the hit.

Every actor probably has moments on sets that they’re probably less than proud of. Even Tom Hanks admitted to being cranky while filming his classic Sleepless in Seattle. But being the professionals that they are, most actors work through and learn from their past slip-ups.

If anything, Paul Bettany has a great story that he can pass down to his children, and so on and so forth. Not many people can say they punched one of the greatest actors of our time and made him fart. In short, Bettany is in a class all his own, and he seems to know it. This article is going to dive into massive spoilers for the end of WandaVision (the last episode, and the series), so please stop reading this now if you haven’t yet caught up, or if you give a damn about spoilers.

In the end, WandaVision told a self-contained story about the grief suffered by Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) following the murder of her soul mate, The Vision (Paul Bettany). Wanda tried to postpone the harsh reality of life without Vision, trapping the duo -- and several innocent bystanders -- in an artificial sitcom reality. Nine episodes later, the finale found Wanda releasing the citizens of Westview, embracing her unlocked potential as The Scarlet Witch, and saying goodbye to her love, and the “children” they had created to form a Marvel family.

This is, however, a chapter in the MCU… albeit an unconventional method for storytelling. (“We are an unusual couple,” Wanda states, and the show followed her lead.) And as is the case with all MCU stories, there were credits that teased possible directions for where the universe can and will go following the conclusion of this program. Disney+ will pick right back up with the action-heavy The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, making its debut on the streaming service on March 19. But what do the two end-credit sequences for WandaVision tell us about the MCU’s future? Let’s break them down:

Monica Going Back 'Up There'

The first scene is immediate fallout from Wanda bringing down her Hex. Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) has assumed a position of leadership, Darcy (Kat Dennings) has made a hasty exit, and former S.W.O.R.D. acting director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) is under arrest. The residents of the town still will have to deal with the consequences of the powerful Scarlet Witch essentially imprisoning them, using them as pawns in her larger game against their will. But don’t expect Monica (Teyonah Parris) to hang around Westview to see how that all plays out.

That’s because Monica is summoned into the nearby movie theater by a nameless agent… who ends up revealing herself as a shapeshifting Skrull. We learned all about the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, and the race of aliens also infiltrated the MCU in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) filled in for Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) while the S.H.I.E.L.D. director vacationed on what looked to be a S.W.O.R.D. space base. The Skrull says that she was “sent” by an old friend of Maria’s, who had heard that Monica “had been grounded.” The Skrull adds that this friend wants to meet with Monica, and points towards space.

On my initial watch, I thought the friend might be Talos, who met Maria and a young Monica in Captain Marvel. On a second pass, I now think that it’s Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and he will be the catalyst that propels Monica into whatever the story will be for Captain Marvel 2. It has been confirmed that Parris will be appearing as Monica in the Captain Marvel sequel, as will Ms. Marvel, who gets her own show before that happens. This scene sets up bringing Monica to space, where the bulk of Captain Marvel 2 likely will take place. Right now, that movie arrives in theaters on November 11, 2022.

Wanda, The Darkhold and Her Twins

The second end-credits scene sets up Wanda’s planned involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, possibly as a way for her to continue to explore and master her newfound abilities as The Scarlet Witch. Wanda promises Monica before she leaves Westview that she will figure out her new powers, and she has a few ways to do it.

One is the Darkhold, the book that was in Agatha’s basement lair and has been referenced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The book has had other names over the years, including “The Book of the Damned,” and “The Book of Sins.” The Darkhold is a book of evil spells, and Wanda is very busy researching it as she masters her arts. One of the spells she has figured out allows her to create a docile version of herself, one that sits by a lakeside and makes tea while the other version of herself studies.

What is Wanda studying? We get a brief indication as the camera tightens in on her face. Right before we cut to red (then black), we hear the voices of Wanda and Vision’s twins calling their mom for help. Is she trying to resurrect her children? Or maybe make them “real,” in a way that they weren’t before? It’s possible that Wanda’s quest for her children is what will bring her to Stephen Strange in the Doctor Strange sequel. Or, Wanda could be going down dark paths to retrieve her children, forcing Strange to step in. Either way, the audio cue of the Doctor Strange theme song implies that this is what this scene is setting up, and we’ll see what comes of it when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters in March 2022.

WandaVision's finale is just around the corner, and to say Marvel fans are expecting some sort of big reveal about the MCU is an understatement. That may be thanks in part to the high bar Disney+ has set with the first two shock-dropping seasons of The Mandalorian, but actor Paul Bettany is also partly to blame. Or majorly to blame even. The actor is doing a bit of bemused damage control, admitting that he may have semi-unintentionally trolled fans a bit too hard earlier in the season when he teased a mega-cameo happening.

Previously, Paul Bettany teased during an interview that WandaVision would be introducing a new character played by an actor that he really admired and had waited a long time to work with. Now that he's seen the speculation-filled aftermath of his claims, the actor walked back those comments in a recent appearance on Good Morning America, in which he explained he was merely being cheeky when referring to Episode 9, when it was revealed S.W.O.R.D. had rebuilt Vision, making it so Bettany would be acting opposite himself, as it were. The MCU star was asked about the situation, and he confirmed it was a joke gone sideways and explained how the past few weeks have been for him.

Paul Bettany thought he was going to have a bit of fun at the expense of only a few fans, perhaps not realizing how seriously his quote would be taken by seemingly the entire viewership. He may have underestimated just how desperate fans are for MCU reveals, and that they'd be picking apart each and every episode of WandaVision, as well as the cast and crew's press interviews, hoping to glean something about the future of the Marvel Universe. Some people that may or may not look and talk exactly like me even wrote speculative articles about who the major cameo maybe, and I bet they feel really silly right now.

The Good Morning America anchors were mostly satisfied with that answer, save for Michael Strahan. The Super Bowl winner pointed out that if Paul Bettany was capable of trolling America once, he could certainly be doing it again during that very interview. Strahan asked if there would still be a major cameo was on the way for the WandaVision finale, but only got the following deflection from Bettany:

Paul Bettany clearly isn't going to spill the beans on any secrets just one day out from the WandaVision finale hitting Disney+, so I guess fans are just going to have to wait and see for themselves. I'm personally hoping for his sake that there is at least one unexpected arrival, because I can't imagine the amount of grief he'll get from the Marvel fandom for years to come if there isn't. I also just want to see someone cool and unexpected arrive in WandaVision, but don't we all? It'll help if White Vision is as memorable as his more human counterpart.

Some spoilers below for anyone who isn't totally caught up with WandaVision up to Episode 8.

The first eight episodes of WandaVision have seemingly inspired more speculation than everything else Marvel has delivered in the last 13 years. As Marvel's first TV show fully connected to the MCU, the genre-bending series has often proven that virtually anything is possible in its world, and just about every single detail could feasibly be a game-changing clue or a brilliant comic easter egg. One such speculation-worthy visual can be seen in each episode's end-credits sequence, and WandaVision director Matt Shakman seemed to confirm that these moments are indeed meaningful.

In each installment's visually lush credits sequence, just after executive producer Louis D'Esposito's name is shown, there is always a close-up on Vision's face, with the "camera" zooming directly into his eyeball. They're all different shots, as each episode's close-ups are taken from that particular episode, and some fans (such as yours truly) picked up on the trend after the first episodes were released. Theories about those eye-centric bits only gained momentum when it was revealed that S.W.O.R.D. director Tyler Hayward's covert mission was dubbed "Cataract."

So when I had a chance to talk to WandaVision's Matt Shakman, who lent his directorial talents to all nine episodes of the season, I wanted to get his take on the potential importance of those zoom-ins on Vision during the credits, and asked if they were connected to S.W.O.R.D.'s "Cataract" mission. Here's how he answered:

What's more, Matt Shakman's appeared to light up when I broached the topic, and he smiled widely as he gave his answer. While that obviously doesn't equate to a full-on confirmation by any means, Shakman's enthusiastic response absolutely made me more optimistic about all eye-related details being connected in a meaningful way. Now, do I know exactly WHAT it all means? Not really.

For those who still might be confused about the credits moments I am referring to, here's the zoom-in moment from Episode 8, "Previously On."

Episode 8 was important in tons of ways, as it finally showed viewers precisely how the Westview Anomaly was created, and viewers watched as Wanda impulsively and perhaps unwittingly used her magic to create an entirely new version of Vision. Just as important, the episode ended on Director Hayward using Wanda's magical power to bring a new, humanity-free version of Vision to life. This White Vision, as it were, is rocking a pair of eyes that are somehow even more electric than than the pristinely blue eyes that Paul Bettany has rocked most of the season as Wanda's Vision. At least when his sockets weren't completely glazed over and horrifying-looking, as they were when he appeared to Wanda in Corpse Vision form. (Fun and likely important face: it was Corpse Vision's eye that was featured during the zoom-in for Episode 4.

So will we see White Vision shooting lasers out of his eyes in the WandaVision finale? Or is the point there meant to make fans think about something specific that Vision sees, or doesn't see? It might not be such a pressing issue if it didn't show up in each of the first eight episodes, but since it did, I don't think I'll be able to stop obsessing about it until an explanation is out there.

Speaking of WandaVision details worth obsessing over, Episode 8 also featured what appeared to be a blink-and-you-miss-it reference to Blade Runner, with the name "Tannhauser Gate" appearing on a Westview theater marquee before Wanda's magic changed the town. (The marquee thereafter showed the names of Disney films Big Red and Kidnapped.) But while Matt Shakman seemed cool with addressing the credits clue, he was not as interested in addressing the Blade Runner bit, saying this when asked if he could talk about it:

If anything, that reference is almost definitely not tied to the German poet Tannhäuser who lived during the 13th century. Rather, it is probably a nod to Blade Runner's central replicant-related storyline, and hints at all the duality on display in WandaVision, from everyone inside the Hex's alt personalities to the TV vs. Real Life elements to the existence of two different Visions. Just don't expect for Ridley Scott or Harrison Ford to make any cameos in the finale.

With just one more episode left, WandaVision has the seemingly impossible task of ending its far-reaching storyline in a way that appeases both Marvel fanatics and more casual viewers, while also answering as many questions as possible that were set up earlier in the season. Not to mention also setting up narrative points that are meant to be continued on in films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home. We can all see just how conclusive things will get when WandaVision's final episode airs on Disney+ on Friday, March 5.

If WandaVision had ended its first (and probably only) season on the instantly beloved ditty "Agatha All Along," I probably would have applauded the choice in spite of all the mysteries it would have left unsolved. That's not what happened, of course, and Episode 8 was another mind-bending look inside Wanda's mind, this time focusing on depressingly poignant moments from her past. But while everyone was paying attention to Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda and Kathryn Hahn's Agatha, Josh Stamberg's Director Hayward was making big and questionable things happen behind the scenes, both in the past and the present.

Despite being the head of an governmental organization founded by known protagonist Maria Lambeau, Tyler Hayward invoked suspicions in viewers from his earliest scenes, and the curiosities have only grown with each layer that gets peeled back on his grand mission. So join me in going over some of the biggest questions we still have about the S.W.O.R.D. leader going into WandaVision's finale.

Did Hayward Actually Know Wanda Could Resurrect Vision?

"Previously On" finally confirmed that Hayward faked the S.W.O.R.D. facility footage he showed to Monica, and showed that Wanda's attempt to retrieve Vision's body left her empty-handed. But while that was somewhat expected, Hayward's conversation with Wanda wasn't. Strangely, he brought up the concept that Wanda could bring Vision back to life, which she balked at, similar to how she was confused with Billy and Tommy presumed she could reverse Sparky's death. But was Hayward hinting that he knew more about Wanda's powers than she did? Or was that line just a calculated ruse to see how she would respond? It seemed very likely that everything being done to Vision's body parts in that specific scene was merely a performance to provoke Wanda's emotions, so did Hayward plant the seed of "resurrection" to see how it would grow inside her?

Did Hayward Know The Drone Would Maintain Wanda's Magic?

I definitely have questions about Hayward being SO certain that Wanda's Mind-Stone magic was exactly what he needed for his true Vision-related scheme, but I'll chalk that up to years of fruitless research making him desperate. What confuses me though, is why Hayward thought his drone plan would work, considering Wanda angrily blasted Monica out of the Hex without her magic sticking to Monica's clothing. And even if he did think threatening the family's life would draw a mega-response from Wanda, how could he have known she would walk outside the hex and deliver the drone to him? (Unless, of course, that wasn't actually Wanda who brought the drone out, but that's a question for another feature.)

Was Hayward Responsible For Maria Lambeau's Death?

Here, we're taking a veering left turn into malicious territory with Hayward, who has yet to truly prove himself to have evil instincts. But considering there's still much mystery surrounding Maria Rambeau's death, it's worth considering that Tyler Hayward may have been a fast-rising S.W.O.R.D. exec who saw a way to make himself the top dog without fully getting his hands dirty. He was next in line for the job, and he likely didn't have the same confidence that Maria had about everyone returning, so he might have felt a need to take control during a time when the post-Snap world was going to hell. I'm not sure whether I think Hayward was behind Maria's initial cancer diagnosis, nor how that would relate to Monica's anger over Captain Marvel. But if Maria's death had any kind of human element involved, I'm betting Hayward was that human.

Why Was Hayward Tracking Vision Inside The Hex?

Considering he was busy trying to rebuild and reactivate Vision using the leftover bits from Avengers: Infinity War, Hayward's mind should have been blown wide open by the realization that another Vision existed inside The Hex. Yet he didn't quite tip his hat with his response, and he has basically underplayed his reactions for just about everything that's happened so far. Which makes his secret goal of tracking Vision, as discovered by Darcy, all the more intriguing. Is he following Vision's movements solely from interest in magically created vibranium, possibly with the idea to create more sentient weaponry? Plus, how did he even go about getting a steady read on Vision's vibranium, considering Wanda is supposedly responsible for signals going into and coming out of the Hex?

What Is Hayward's Plan For White Vision?

It seems clear at this point – in as much as anything does – that Hayward has been setting Wanda up to be the villain so that he can appear justified in creating another sentient weapon with White Vision, which would go against the Sokovia Accords. And considering what Wanda's chaos magic has been responsible for to this point, it's not hard to imagine Hayward getting support. But to what ends? Is Hayward so pissed off at super-powered people like Wanda that he created his own in order to take them down? Hayward likely doesn't know that much (or anything) about chaos magic, so why is he at all confident that his plan will work?

Will Hayward Be Punished For Lying To Monica And Other Government Agents?

Now that we know for sure that Hayward doctored the S.W.O.R.D. facility footage from Wanda's visit, one has to wonder whether or not he'll be held responsible for promoting this conspiracy. Now, this particular fallacy is probably going to look like small potatoes compared to whatever atrocities happen when White Vision is unleashed, but can we all acknowledge the magnitude of such an act? On top of likely setting S.W.O.R.D. employees up as potential bait when Wanda was on site, Hayward presented false evidence to an FBI agent, as well as at least one high-ranking S.W.O.R.D. agent, and any other agents in the vicinity who weren't in on the plan. That's pretty serious shit, and it's also likely that other agents who were in on it would also be guilty of one crime or another.

Does Hayward Know About Agatha?

Hayward often appears to be more knowledgable than he's letting on, but is it possible he is aware of Agatha Harkness' existence, either within the Hex or outside of it? My instincts tell me no, since nobody cared very much that Agnes' "real" identity was never discovered. As well, Hayward appears to be crafting his actions as if Wanda is the only verifiable threat standing (or floating) in his way. So will viewers see Agatha and Wanda teaming up to take Hayward and White Vision down? Or will there be a last-minute twist where Hayward reveals he was well aware that Agatha was involved? Could they possibly be...working together? Could Agatha have been posing as Wanda whenever she gave them the Hex-affected drone?

I'd be silly to think that every single one of these questions will be answered in WandaVision's finale, which is set to air on Disney+ on Friday, March 5. But it also seemed silly to think that Marvel would give us a scene set in 17th-century Salem, and here we are.

Major spoilers below for anyone who hasn't yet watched WandaVision Episode 8! Be warned!

With "Previously On," WandaVision completely changed up what MCU fans thought we knew about Wanda Maximoff's backstory, with Kathryn Hahn's creepster Agatha Harkness forcing Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda through another big sitcom trope: the flashback episode. Speaking of thwarted expectations, the episode's mid-credits scene may have given viewers a first look at the big new character that Paul Bettany previously teased fans with, and if that's the case, it makes Bettany a Class A Troll King.

In Episode 8, as Wanda relived various points of her past, it was revealed that S.W.O.R.D. Director Hayward had indeed doctored footage of Wanda's visit, making it appear as if she'd stolen Vision's body parts and resurrected them as a whole. That wasn't the case, though, with The Hex's version of Vision proven to be 100% Wanda's creation. The mid-credits scene revealed that Hayward utilized Vision's body for his own creation, the White Vision, which brings us back around to comments that Paul Bettany recently made. In the wake of Evan Peters' arrival as "Fietro," while fans were contemplating whether he was WandaVision's mind-blowing cameo, Bettany made it seem as if the MCU series had another A+ surprise on the way involving another major actor. But take another look at Bettany's words with renewed context:

While Paul Bettany can be as serious a thespian as they come, and has delivered some Emmy-worthy performances during WandaVision so far. But that fanbase-igniting tease may have been his best acting yet, since it seems very likely now that Bettany was hinting at acting opposite himself for moments where the two Visions will share scenes together. That cheeky, clever so-and-so!

To date, Paul Bettany doesn't appear to have acted opposite himself as a clone or a twin or anything of that nature, and it's reasonable enough to think that he would indeed have an interest in utilizing himself as an acting partner. Go with what you know, amirite? So while fans have been falling over backwards theorizing about Ian McKellan or Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, and even Al Pacino as a potential Mephisto, Bettany was possibly chuckling to himself, knowing that he single-handedly sent that speculation train off the rails.

A quick trip to Twitter show that there are others out there who have the same idea in mind about who Paul Bettany was referring to.

WandaVision has just one episode left on Disney+, after which I will no doubt go into fits of hysterics over this highly intriguing sector of the MCU is no more. Major spoilers below for anyone who hasn't yet watched WandaVision's seventh episode, the metatextually titled "Breaking the Fourth Wall." Be warned, but don't be witched!

Once again, a new WandaVision episode has managed to scramble viewers' brains with a bunch of giant reveals sprinkled throughout its genre-mashing narrative. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda is now fully encapsulated in the 2000s, at least until her powers start to glitch and her house begins to flash back to different timelines. Perhaps that was all foreshadowing to set up the previous eras coming back into effect during Agnes' musical moment later in the episode. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

WandaVision did answer a few major questions with "Breaking the Fourth Wall," but it also set audiences up with a whole new batch of inquiries and curiosities to ponder over until the next installment arrives on Disney+. So let's burn through them while waiting on this road crew that suddenly showed up out of nowhere.

Who's The Missing Kid On Wanda's Milk Carton?

Missing posters on milk cartons haven't been prevalent in quite a while, but the ubiquitous imagery felt right at home in Wanda's time-flopping home. But who is this kid, and does it have anything to do with the missing persons case that Randall Park's Jimmy Woo was initially brought in for? Or does it indicate that some people outside of Westview are desperately seeking their missing loved ones?

What Is Hayward Launching?

While I can only hope that S.W.O.R.D. Director Hayward is planning on launching a big explosive rocket right up his own ass, that's probably not what WandaVision has in store for the militant semi-antagonist. So is he going to try and nuke the Hex as a way of getting to Vision, or does he have something slightly less explosively verbose in mind?

Which Marvel Alias Will Monica Rambeau Use?

Though Wanda's Hex perimeter didn't fully allow S.W.O.R.D.'s space vehicle through its walls, Teyonah Parris' Monica made the choice to go in alone, only this time she maintained her sentience enough to "safely" make it through without being rewritten. Her glowing eyes and her ability to fight off some of Wanda's power made it clear that we're looking at a brand new MCU hero, but which name will she go by? One might thing Photon, to remember her mother Maria by, but considering Monica might not want to be known by a moniker that speaks to her mother's relationship with Carol Danvers, maybe she'll take on Spectrum or one of her other comic titles.

Will Vision Ever Get His Memories Back?

Now that the back-to-normal Darcy gave Vision the Wandasnotes version of his fate in Avengers: Infinity War, he has a new perspective on his Westview existence. But will the character ever get to a point where actually gets all of Vision's memories back, or is this version the more preferred take, since he isn't weighed down as much by all that trauma?

What Did Agatha Harkness Do To Billy And Tommy?

I could talk all day about the utter magnificence of Kathryn Hahn's big Agatha Harkness reveal, but there are potentially children in danger, so I'll clam up about that side of things. ("Agnes All Along" is the best song yet, and okay, NOW I'll clam up about it.) She was being nice to them initially, what with the sandwiches and the rabbit-petting, so it doesn't seem like she's eager to torture or kill them or anything. But they're no doubt in some form of danger that will likely differ from what Agatha has in store for Wanda. Speaking of...

What Is Agatha's Plan For Wanda?

Agatha clearly has a reason why she decided to reveal herself to Wanda in this episode, and she's got presumably nefarious plans for Wanda and her children. But what is she actually going to DO with Wanda? Lock her up somehow and force her to keep the Hex going and growing? Maybe figure out a way to having Wanda continue pumping out powered-up children?

Where Did Vision Go?

After hearing about his previous fate from Darcy, Vision appeared to have a clear goal in mind that wasn't just "fly away and avoid this uncomfortable situation." (I'm so glad they showed him becoming self-aware in the middle of a talking-head shot.) So is he just heading back home to Wanda, or does he have a different destination in mind?

Who Are Dottie And The Delivery Man, For Reals Though?

If Emma Caulfield's Dottie wasn't extremely important in some way, she wouldn't have received her own episode, and wouldn't still be appearing via reaction shots in later episodes. She had to get personally approved by Kevin Feige, so she's important, but who is this character outside of the Hex? And while Westview's resident mailman/delivery man (as portrayed by Amos Gluck) doesn't appear to be a big deal, he's clearly got some kind of connection with Agnes/Agatha, and it was pretty suspicious for him to show up when he did in Episode 7. So what's his deal?

What Will "Pietro" Do To Monica?

Now that we know Evan Peters isn't really Pietro Maximoff – not that we fully thought he was – and is actually one of Agatha Harkness' goons, it's even more unclear what he'll get into for the rest of WandaVision's run. His final line of the episode from the mid-credits sequence – "Snooper's gonna snoop" – seems to indicate he's got a personality, and isn't just a mindless henchman. Which is a good thing for him, since Monica is kind of a superhero now, but is he strong enough to take her down? And is he going to try and kill her, or just trap her somehow?

Is It Meaningful That The Stork Came Back?

Considering the theories out there that Wanda's stork was actually Mephisto in disguise when it appeared in Episode 3, as well as the importance of animals throughout this series, I feel like there's something to take away from the stork returning in Episode 7 when Wanda was losing control of her home. I don't know WHAT it means, beyond possibly foreshadowing problems coming to her children, but it doesn't seem like a fluke.

Since her WandaVision casting was announced, Kathryn Hahn and her character Agnes have been the subjects of much scrutiny among comic fans, MCU fans, and even those coming into the show from outside the core fandom. The mountain of speculation has only grown taller and more flame-infused with each episode, but with the show’s end in sight, viewers still have no concrete proof whether Agnes is indeed one of Marvel’s magically dark characters, namely Agatha Harkness, or just another one of the many Westview citizens under Wanda’s Hex spell.

WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer and the rest of the show’s creative team – Hahn definitely included – have done a fantastic job making Agnes tiptoe the line between a stereotypically overzealous neighbor and a nefarious force projecting a false front to fool Westview’s resident Avengers. So let’s go through some of the bigger arguments regarding the character’s potentially villainous nature, and contemplate both sides of the Agn-issues. (1950s Vision would have laughed at that, I think. Or at least Norm would have.)

Agnes Always Shows Up At Opportune Moments

While the Hex’s origins aren’t extremely clear just yet, Agnes arrived almost immediately in WandaVision’s show-within-a-show footage, giving viewers a quick introduction to her ever-curious and questioning nature. Each moment where she’s popped up since then has been deliberate and meaningful for both viewers and the show’s central super-couple, save perhaps for her presence at the talent show. (And there are even theories about Agnes and her purse at the talent show.) From appearing soon after Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda found the helicopter drone to showing up in Episode 5 soon after Vision pointed out her predictable patterns, Agnes has made it clear her appearances are all about timing, and it’s easy enough to argue that she’s motivated to guide Wanda and her children to darkness.

On the other hand, Agnes’ intentions may very well be goodhearted and well-meaning, considering viewers have yet to see her actually appear 100% villainous or deceitful within either WandaVision’s reality or inside the Hex. (Her Halloween scene will be discussed below.) Even her most questionable moments still make Agnes appear eager to please or help Wanda, as opposed to trying to destroy her or take advantage of her. Surely she can't be all bad, right? I mean, for someone who wants to give liquor to children and then drinks it herself.

Agnes Seems To Understand She’s In A TV Show

At multiple points throughout WandaVision so far, Agnes has proven herself capable of seeing the forest from the trees whenever she acknowledged the idea that her role in Wanda’s life, and that of her children, is a performance. She specifically asks Wanda about providing another “take” in Episode 5 whenever Vision wasn’t into the idea of having Agnes take care of the crying children. That self-awareness speaks to her evolving performance from gloriously broad to something slightly more subtle over time.

Agnes knowing she’s part of a TV narrative largely explains the “Opportune Moments” entry, in that she would have access to when and where she’s meant to show up in Wanda’s life. But again, awareness doesn’t necessarily indicate maliciousness, since she again only seems to be helpful in Episode 5 when otherwise-arbitrarily bringing over the doghouse for Sparky. That said, Agnes doesn’t appear to treat Vision with the same care that she does Wanda, so maybe she’s a threat to their relationship overall.

But Not Even Agnes Understands Everything About The Hex

Though Agnes only seems to appear when needed, WandaVision gave viewers the rare sight of her conversing with another character in Episode 3 when she spoke with Herb (directly in front of the painted background) after he went off the rails in hedging his fence. Neither character was fully immersed in the Hex’s reality, and both were questioning the existence and identity of Teyonah Parris’ Geraldine / Monica. She didn’t recognize the temporary Westview resident from any awareness of S.W.O.R.D., which speaks to her presumably not having any connections to Director Hayward. (Unless that’s just what we’re meant to think, naturally.)

If Agnes is really Agatha Harkness or Mephisto or any other characters from those arcs, would she necessarily have control over what’s happening in this world, or is she still just along for the ride as much as anyone else? Does it even make sense for WandaVision to cloak a big comic entity with Agnes like that without making the character more responsible for Wanda’s fantasized Hex?

Agnes Was The Only Person Moving On The Outskirts Of Westview

After first appearing in the opening titles of the Halloween-infused Episode 6 with “Naughty” written across her backside, Agnes didn’t appear again in full until Vision spotted her car at the intersection of Ellis Ave. and Rolling Hill Dr. Unlike most of the catatonic people that Paul Bettany’s hero came across as he got further away from the Town Square Scare, Agnes was still lucid to a certain extent even before Vision touched her forehead. But was she faking anything during that exchange, as some fans have theorized, or were her reactions, strange as they were, completely natural?

It’s possible that Agnes had more far-flung sentience in this particular episode because she was in the opening titles. But why was she driving way out there, and why was her car just stopped where it was? Does this hearken back to Agnes not understanding the Hex in full, and did she have something nefarious in mind by approaching the outer perimeter like that? Was Agnes possibly studying the outer wall being the source of Wanda’s idea to expand the Hex in the episode’s final minutes? And was that witch's hat just trolling fans, or was it a genuine nod to the character's origins?

Agnes And Dottie Are The Only Major Characters Who Haven’t Been Identified By S.W.O.R.D.

As fun as it’s been to watch Kat Dennings’ Darcy and Randall Park’s Jimmy play surrogates for the audience, it’s also been pretty informative to see all of the details they’ve uncovered. One of the biggest question marks surrounding Agnes, as well as Emma Caulfield’s Dottie Jones, has been the absence of real-world identification on the white board for both characters. (Not that the white board likely exists anymore after Wanda’s giant Hex expansion.)

It’s obviously suspicious for Agnes to be unidentified by S.W.O.R.D., since it likely means she wasn’t one of the New Jersey citizens who was displaced by Wanda’s Hex, and is rather a character likely familiar to comic book readers. The fact that Dottie also hasn’t been identified speaks to the idea that Agnes’ subtle pushes for Wanda to have children specifically tie into Dottie’s “For the Children” mantra. If any of that does match up with the MCU show’s reality, you can bet that Agnes and Dottie don’t have Wanda’s best interests in mind.

WandaVision Still Hasn’t Introduced Ralph

Another major sticking point for Agnes’ storyline is the absence of her husband Ralph outside of a few jokey references, and theories surrounding the character’s alleged existence are plentiful indeed. There are those who believe Ralph will be revealed as the aforementioned Mephisto or the dark entity Nightmare, and those that think Ralph is the original Missing Person that Jimmy was sent to look for. (Not that one theory disproves the other.)

But regarding Agnes specifically, what if Ralph isn’t just a missing husband, but one of her victims? What if WandaVision reveals Agnes to have killed her significant other at some point during the season, possibly because he asked too many questions about her interest in Wanda? That line of thinking may seem a bit out there, considering the show hasn’t heavily teased Agnes’ murderous urges. At least, not when it comes to other humans…

Agnes May Have Killed Sparky

It’s probably fine to go on believing that Sparky’s death was completely accidental, and was not the product of Agnes’ evil ways. After all, she seemed to truly care for the dog’s well-being earlier in the episode, and her love for rabbit Señor Scratchy indicates that she doesn’t abhor pets in general. But is that really the story here?

Agnes’ house seems to be the only one boasting the dangerous-to-dogs azalea bushes, while so many of her neighbors are rocking rosebushes. (Her presence during Sparky’s non-fatal electrocution earlier in the episode may have been foreshadowing.) What’s more, Agnes seemed to be a little too interested in Wanda’s conversation with the equally mysterious Billy and Tommy about potentially bringing something back from the dead. Granted, any normal person would be interested in that conversation, but Agnes is one of few who might have purposefully attempted to incite that conversation by killing a dog first.

While I only went through seven points of interest above, nearly every second of WandaVision is worthy of fans’ speculation-hungry attention, so you can bet that there are lots of other Agnes-related moments and details that fans are debating as you read this. (As if anyone would limit speculation to just Agnes and not the plethora of other hints and clues.) Warning! The following contains spoilers for WandaVision’s “On A Very Special Episode.” Read at your own risk!

WandaVision featured its biggest moment so far when the often surreal MCU series welcomed a very special and unexpected guest into Wanda Maximoff’s odd reality. Audiences were stunned to see Pietro Maximoff standing at the door, seemingly back from the dead, only this time played by Evan Peters.

The internet has since run rampant with what this means for the MCU, with theories ranging from Evan Peters' presence confirming mutants becoming official canon to Wanda inadvertently messing up the multiverse. I’m not sure of all the details surrounding those ideas, and I'm obviously not positive where things are going next. But I have a strong suspicion that, to put it succinctly, Marvel did not cast Evan Peters to play this universe's Quicksilver. Here are my thoughts on the matter and why I’m convinced that, much like many things in Westview, Peters' appearance as Pietro Maximoff is not what it seems.

This Reveal Makes Sense To Fans, But Not Within The MCU

An actual X-Men actor reprising their role in an MCU show isn’t just exciting because it happened, but because of the potential implications that come along with it. Are Evan Peters and Elizabeth Olsen's characters officially siblings now? Was the timeline altered in order to make that a thing? Is this the MCU doing some take on the House of M arc? There are at least a dozen theories floating around about this WandaVision reveal, with the only consensus being that nobody really knows what's going to happen.

One reason why there are so many solve-in-reverse theories is that the reveal only makes tangential sense because Evan Peters played Fox's Quicksilver in the X-Men films. While Peter had similar hair and powers as Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Pietro, there are a ton of differences between them. For example, Peter is an American and doesn't have any form of accent, and Pietro was a Sokovian. Peter had a little sister, where Pietro is a twin of Wanda.

Given all of this, why didn't anyone mention any of the above when his first made his Fonz-esque appearance in WandaVision? He treated Wanda like she was his sister, even though she looks nothing like the sister we've seen. He also responded to "Pietro," even though he was never called that in his movies. Something is clearly weird here, and if Wanda comes to truly believe that's her brother, then she's probably not the one that orchestrated his appearance, at least not consciously. As I said, this doesn't make sense from an MCU standpoint, even knowing it's a playful nod to classic sitcom characters being recast without incident. So while there are many possible explanations, I think the simplest one is to believe that Evan Peters is not Pietro Maximoff.

Peter Is The One Who First Introduced Himself As Wanda's Brother

After revisiting that final scene, at least one key detail sticks out about Wanda and Vision's surprise guest. When Wanda first opens the door, she stares ahead for a good while in mild confusion before Peters' breaks the silence to as if a "long-lost brother" can get a hug from his sister. It's only then that Wanda refers to him as "Pietro" and feigns recognition, though there's some clear skepticism in her voice.

If Wanda is controlling things in Westview like S.W.O.R.D. currently believes she is, she would have inherently known who arrived at the door in the same way she so warmly welcomed Agnes and others upon meeting them the "first time." But Wanda's mixed reaction to Pietro's arrival was all too genuine. It's possible she suffers her own mental blocks within Westview's walls for one reason or another, and it's likely no coincidence that her "brother" would show up after she was just reminded that he was killed by Ultron in Sokovia, and after Billy and Tommy talked to her about bringing back the dead.

To that same end, how timely it was that "Pietro" interrupted Wanda and Vision's emotionally charged discussion-argument about all the weird things happening in Westview. His arrival definitely seemed like a true distraction tactic, but considering those very distractions were at the center of Vision's anger, it wouldn't make sense for her to use the same trick to keep Vision off the trail. Especially since she was also in the midst of sharing how confused she was by how anything in Westview began. Thus, it seems like Pietro was a distraction that someone else sent over to keep the two Avengers from sniffing out the truth. (Vision's sense of smell is top-notch.)

Bringing Fox's X-Men Franchise Into The MCU Doesn't Sound Like Marvel

Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have spent the past decade curating and crafting storylines for the MCU, and for the most part, all involved have done a phenomenal job. Sure, there've been a few hiccups along the way, but the MCU is a well-constructed universe with meaningful ties connecting its heroes across multiple movies and franchises. That's not an easy thing to do, especially if you look at other studios's past attempts to do the same, like Fox with its X-Men heroes.

There's no way around it. The X-Men films' timeline is inconsistent, poorly constructed in places, and the various creative teams didn't appear to dedicate tons of time to planning what would come next for characters, and sometimes even what came before. In the hypothetical that Evan Peters is truly THE Peter Maximoff, plucked from his multiverse and placed in the MCU, and then brainwashed into believing he's Pietro, that means the MCU just absorbed a whole bunch of nonsense into its carefully curated universe.

This same MCU distanced itself from Marvel TV shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and maintained only a bare connection to the actual MCU series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., many of which were more acclaimed than some of those X-Men features that weren't standalone Wolverine movies. And unlike the X-Men movies, the aforementioned Marvel shows made an effort to stay grounded within the rules of the MCU and even occasionally referenced major Avengers-related events despite not getting the same love in return. And now I'm supposed to believe that same studio just opened its arms to welcome a franchise that poorly adapted The Dark Phoenix saga not just once, but twice?

I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. What I can believe is that Marvel can appreciate specific elements of non-MCU canon properties, and that it can pick and choose which parts they wish to incorporate into its universe. People loved Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and in general, Peters as an actor. I think it's perfectly logical to assume Marvel Studios wanted Evan Peters in the MCU, and that they found a perfect opportunity to do so with an intentional misdirect by "casting" him as Pietro Maximoff.

Keep in mind that the prevailing theme of WandaVision is that nothing is as it seems, so I think it's entirely possible Peters isn't who he says he is, and is actually playing another character altogether. That makes way more sense than brazenly absorbing Fox's X-Men movies from a business and lore-building perspective, and it's probably something Kevin Feige is way more willing to greenlight given what Marvel Studios has delivered so far.

The latest installment of Disney+'s WandaVision was the perfect mix of the four episodes that preceded it, with "A Very Special Episode" bouncing between the real-world S.W.O.R.D. team and Wanda's seemingly self-imposed Hex. (I got you, Darcy.) But while so many viewers and MCU fans are going berserk over that last-minute appearance from Evan Peters as what appeared to be the X-Men franchise's Pietro "Quicksilver" Maximoff – and yeah, I thought it was very cool, too, down to his Fonzie-esque vibe – I'm more interested in whatever the hell is happening with the "twins" Billy and Tommy.

Ahead of Episode 5, some of the biggest questions that viewers had about Wanda and Vision's children involved whether they would eventually become the comics' Speed and Wiccan, further opening the door for the Young Avengers and more Marvel awesomeness. But after seeing everything that went down in this age-defying (and reality-defying) episode, I have many more thoughts and questions about Billy and Tommy Maximoff, so let's dive into some of those now.

Billy And Tommy Don't Seem Like They're Actually Twins

Sure, they were born at the same time, and multiple characters have referred to Billy and Tommy as twins, but are they? The siblings are basically identical in the comics, save for their differing hair, and while it's obviously possible that WandaVision's youngins are fraternal twins, this is the kind of show that probably would have specifically pointed that out at least twice by now. (Also, the biological background for fraternal twins seems a bit complicated to explain when a synthezoid is the father.) Considering we know Full House and Elizabeth Olsen's twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley were partial influences for WandaVision, it just seems strange that the MCU series would go with non-identical twins and non-related actors in these roles.

WandaVision's Opening Features Lots Of Pictures That Shouldn't Exist

The pitch-perfect Family Ties-esque opening title sequence for 'On A Very Special Episode..." featured a few adorable details that would be impossible in this world as it is. Namely, I'm referring to pictures from Billy and Tommy's infancy and toddler-hood that were clearly taken during ages that the boys didn't actually experience, since they magically advanced their ages from newborns to five-year-olds. I know Wanda's imagination, subconscious and inner desires are responsible for all this, and that she's just as responsible for creating those hilarious pics of Vision as a baby and adolescent. Even so, it's pretty damned weird for Billy and Tommy to be merely days old on the surface, yet they already have 20 years of learned experiences between them after advancing to become ten-year-olds.

Billy And Tommy Are The Only Children In Town (For Now)

One of the best things about WandaVision is when its characters say the things and ask the questions that viewers are saying and asking about the show. More relevant here are Vision's comments in Episode 5 concerning the complete lack of children in Westview outside of Billy and Tommy. That's been a nagging concern ever since Dottie's crew first uttered the "For the children!" mantra, made all the more strange since Disney+'s trailers have long teased children trick-or-treating during the Halloween-themed episode. So where do all those kids come from, and where were they before? Did Wanda recontextualize all of those kids' identities as well?

Agnes Already Has A Strange Connection To Tommy And Billy

Episode 5 wisely addressed (yet didn't completely confirm) the notion that Wanda is somewhat responsible for bringing about the various interruptions that make their lives easier, including Agnes' nick-of-time visits. She popped in just when Wanda and Vision were becoming frustrated with never-ending crying, and she similarly dropped by later arbitrarily carrying an already assembled doghouse for their short-lived pet Sparky. (Maybe they're the ones who called out to her in Episode 5.) But was she the cause of their quickened aging with her lavender spray? Why did she seem to introspective when talking about children being uncontrollable? And did she intentionally kill their dog just to provoke an emotional response?

Billy And Tommy Know Something's Up With Wanda

While Billy and Tommy may initially seem like your average youngsters, they clearly possess some deeper insights when it comes to Wanda. First, they question her and seem suspicious when she claimed it was a different day from what they thought. Then, after Agnes made her depressing Sparky reveal and Wanda attempts to sympathize with their pain, they ask for Wanda to bring the dog back from the dead, making it seem pretty clear that they're aware she has such powers. (Agnes, on the other hand, looks might curious when that point comes up.) Do they share some of Wanda's powers, having come from her DNA, or is there something else guiding their understanding of their parentage?

Billy And Tommy May Have A Very Dark Backstory

Given what we know about most of the people in Westview – that Wanda essentially stole them from their real lives – are we not meant to assume the same is the case for Billy and Tommy? Nothing about their conception or birth came close to being traditional, so is it possible the two newborns that Wanda and Vision cared for were babies that actually belonged to other parents within the Westview Anomaly? If that would be the case, would likely then mean the five-year old versions of Billy and Tommy were also taken from their true mothers and fathers, and the same would go for the boys at age 10. Of course, it's just as possible that the boys are fully connected to Wanda in all respects, but I remain suspicious.

It's very likely that answers to some of these questions will come when Episode 6 hits Disney+, which you can subscribe to here if you don't already have one. But if we've learned anything about WandaVision so far, it's that every answer leads to more questions, taking us one step forward, and then two twins back.

In roughly two hours of total watch-time, Marvel's WandaVision has delivered at least 4-6 hours of gonzo storytelling, interesting MCU references, suspicious characters, questionable situations, theory-spawning reveals, and everything in between. It's a wonder how creator Jac Schaeffer & Co. are going to deliver nine whole episodes that carry on at the same pace, but you can bet that I'll be right there watching and taking way too many notes. Because even though Episode 4 was kind enough to deliver some major answers, it certainly didn't explain everything about what's happening to Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's characters.

WandaVision has inspired enough theories to last a lifetime – both the human kind and the android kind – but while there are certain details that the majority of fans are clinging to as the most important, that just means there are tons of smaller and less obvious moments that aren't getting enough speculative attention. So let's get some Steak Diane sautéing while running through an assortment of details that probably mean more than they seem.

"My Wife And Her Flying Saucers."

Not counting the brilliant opening theme from songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the very first line of WandaVision features Vision making a space-based reference to Wanda after a glass plate broke over his head. (Lots of broken dishes around Wanda in this show.) Considering S.W.O.R.D. definitely has ties to outer space, which even got referenced in Episode 4, this opening line can't merely be a coincidence or a meaningless gag. That's just not how Marvel and TV mysteries work at this point. Everything. Means. Something.

Agnes' Mother-In-Law

The detail from Agnes' introduction that many fans have talked up is the plant that Kathryn Hahn's inquisitive neighbor gives to Wanda, which has sparked theories about it possibly being the rare and mysterious Wundagore Everbloom seen in Tom King's The Vision. The bigger overarching question to me concerns Agnes' joke about not being home when her mother-in-law was visiting, which totally seemed like a throwaway line initially. But after several episodes of Agnes referring to her continuously absent husband Ralph, I'm starting to become obsessed with learning whether Agnes' family is even real or not. Is Agnes Mephisto, or is she married to Mephisto? Or is her mother-in-law Mephisto, which fits in better with the "mother-in-laws are hell" gag?

Wanda Snapping

While Elizabeth Montgomery's Samantha Stevens adorably twitched her nose to make magic happen on Bewitched, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda utilized a different inciting motion: a snap. (Not to mention Agnes showing up soon afterward saying Wanda would have her dinner menu done "in a snap.") The importance of that particular detail was possibly revealed in Episode 4, where audiences learned that WandaVision's timeline takes place only three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Meaning it hasn't been very long at all since Wanda (and Monica Rambeau) came back from being wiped out of existence by Thanos' Snap, so it's very likely still quite a sore spot in her brain, to say the least.

Vision's Eye In Each Of The End Credits

For each of its first four episodes, WandaVision has featured a different zoom shot into Vision's eye during the end credits, and that bizarre consistency makes me overtly curious. Is that a clue that Vision is watching all of these happen just like viewers and S.W.O.R.D. are? But then what does it mean that Episode 4's credit sequence zoomed into Dead Vision's eye? For those who want to go and check for themselves, it always occurs after executive producer Louis D'Esposito's credit is shown.

"Flourish!"

Okay, I'm admittedly dangling off of a limb here, but I gleefully want to believe there's a deeper meaning behind the gum-drunk Vision saying "Flourish!" during the talent show. Realizing that the scene already hinges on a callback to the Marvel magicians Illusion and Glamour, I wonder if Vision's erroneous blurting is itself a reference to the temporary X-Men mutant Marisol "Flourish" Guerra. Her unique emotion-tethered abilities included producing thriving plant life when happy, and creating typically foul growths like mold and fungi when she's upset. Not that I think the character will appear in WandaVision, but I think Flourish's emotionally driven and not always intentional powers are somewhat similar to Wanda's hold over her reality in Westview.

Storks And Other Animals

WandaVision made its affinity for insects known in its first three episodes through multiple references to butterflies and the S.W.O.R.D. agent-turned-beekeeper. (Is it too much of a stretch to hope for Ant-Man and the Wasp to show up?) Viewers are likely also curious about the various giraffes seen in Wanda and Vision's home(s), particularly the three upon the mantle in the '70s timeline. But perhaps the most important beast of the bunch is Episode 3's slapstick stork who, like the butterflies, came alive within Tommy and Billy's nursery. Unfortunately for Wanda, though, her powers didn't seem to have any effect on the bird, which just maintained its existence despite her efforts. But isn't she supposed to have full control over this world? So could that mean the child-bearing stork is actually a clever manifestation of Mephisto?

Vision Mugging The Camera

During "Now In Color," Wanda gave viewers yet another look at her existence-altering powers whenever Vision took a second to reflect on the weirdness surrounding them in Westview, which is something I'd be doing constantly. As he's sitting on the couch, Vision seemed to look directly into the camera just before admitting that he thinks something is wrong. That was quickly followed by Wanda rewinding time to just before Vision sat down, leading to a much happier exchange the second time around. But what was up with Vision breaking the fourth wall in such a strange and low-key way? Was that his attempt to warn someone on the outside? Or does Paul Bettany just love mugging for the cameras?

Agnes And Herb Being Aware Of Geraldine's Otherness

A lot of big WandaVision fan questions are tied to Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau right now, but viewers aren't the only curious ones about her. As Vision discovered in Episode 3, both Agnes and Herb were seeking more info on "Geraldine," whom they knew was not an organic resident of Westview. In the first place, it interests me to no end that side characters have lives beyond Wanda's charade, since I mostly just picture them standing around waiting for their scenes to start. In the second place, how are Agnes and Herb able to discern that things aren't right with Geraldine/Monica? And what does it mean for all the Agnes-is-the-villain theories, if anything, that she's not totally omniscient in this world?

S.W.O.R.D.'s Astronaut Training Program

There are really only a limited number of avenues Marvel can take when it comes to the concept of astronauts. There's the Fantastic Four, and then there's some other stuff that isn't as important. After Monica asked about the astronaut training program, Josh Stamford's S.W.O.R.D. Director Tyler Hayward told her that half of the team was lost in the Blip, and half of those who remained had backed out of it. But what about the half who stayed? Could that group possibly contain Reed and Sue Richards, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm? Is this how the MCU is laying the groundwork for its own take on Marvel's first family, set to be directed by Spider-Man: Far From Home's Jon Watts? I'm praying to Mephisto that's the case.

Only Monica Can Breach The Westview Energy Field

WandaVision's fourth episode gave the impression that Monica Rambeau is perhaps the only human able to readily pass through Westview's outer boundary. Not that we got to see what happened when Randall Park's Jimmy Woo or anyone else got rejected. It's easy enough to arrive at the assumption that most people can't make it through because Wanda doesn't want them to. But that just leads us to the less-assumable inquiry about why Monica in particular was welcomed inside so easily.

The Breaking Glass Sound Making It Past Wanda's Edit

As we learned in "We Interrupt This Program," Kat Dennings' Darcy Lewis – that's Dr. Lewis to you – and others are only able to watch Wanda's edited version of events, meaning no one at S.W.O.R.D. saw Wanda rid herself of Agent Franklin, among other moments. Indeed, whenever Darcy and Jimmy attempted to break through to Wanda via the radio, no one witnessed the minute or so of pure confusion between Wanda and Emma Caulfield's Dottie. Before the edit, however, Dottie is briefly seen attempting to ask Wanda who she is, and the sound of Dottie's glass breaking – which was already too loud and unrealistic to begin with – does make it to Darcy's TV, meaning Wanda wasn't able to edit everything cleanly. Is that because she was so shocked by Jimmy's voice, or by Dottie's accusations?

The End Credit Music

Though the first two WandaVision installments ended with a traditional instrumental track, the next two upped the clue-seeking ante. The Brady Bunch-esque third episode utilized The Monkees' "Daydream Believer," which could easily be seen as reflective of Wanda buying so hard into the fantasy world that she created. Not to mention it being a callback to when the band's Davey Jones guest-starred on The Brady Bunch. Episode 4, meanwhile, ended with Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," which references the magical idea of creating an island for oneself, which can obviously be tied to Wanda's Westview takeover. And on another level, it connects to Scarlet Witch's son Billy becoming the warlock Wiccan in the comics, if we take "voodoo" to mean "any sort of magical shit."

I could probably spend more hours putting these thoughts together, since Disney+'s WandaVision suffers no lack of interesting and thought-provoking situations. Episode 4 finally delivered more than a few answers for WandaVision viewers left confused by all the alt-dimensional weirdness in the first three installments. Of course, those answers led to a different set of inquiries about Randall Park's and Kat Dennings' returning MCU characters, as well as a revised batch of questions about everything we've seen so far. Thankfully (or not, depending on how much you enjoy rampant speculation), Disney and Marvel released a new sneak peek at what's coming during the rest of Season 1, and while there is a lot of repeat footage, everything looks a little clearer now that we know some of what's happening outside of Westview.

This preview also gives viewers our first substantial look at WandaVision footage with a Modern Family aesthetic happening, when Wanda has her talking-head moment. While that's all fine and dandy, I'm definitely more interested in the over-arching mysteries than anything else. So let's talk out two of the biggest questions the above trailer inspires.

Does Vision Escape Westview?

There's a point during the sneak peek, after Paul Bettany's Vision is heard asking "What is outside of Westview?" right when the character is approaching the weird translucent barrier surrounding the town. We haven't seen anyone attempt to escape the area voluntarily yet, with only Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau being forced through it by Wanda in semi-Scarlet Witch mode. But it looks like Vision might be able to do it, right?

Now if you go forward another 20 seconds or so in the video, there's a brief moment where Vision can be seen falling to his knees on the OTHER side of the barrier, with one of the S.W.O.R.D. stations visible in the background. By all means, it definitely appears as if he escapes, but does he really make it outside? That moment could obviously take place in a dream or something along those lines, and I kinda find it weird that the series is willing to show viewers that potentially huge reveal in a trailer.

Of course, the way that Vision falls to his knees outside the barrier could be indicative of the character's life leaving his body. After all, Vision isn't alive in this universe anymore, to our knowledge, so what does it even mean that Wanda's mental facsimile of the hero is able to escape her metaphysical trappings? How did Wanda even bring Vision into existence, since several of the other Westview citizens being co-opted versions of real people? All these questions!

Is S.W.O.R.D. Able To Make It Into Westview?

For all that everyone inside Westview appears to be trapped inside, there are tons of people on the outer perimeter that are extremely eager to get in there and see what the hell is happening. (Seriously, everyone at S.W.O.R.D. is just a little TOO easygoing about all the completely surreal crap they're seeing.) And the trailer makes it clear that they're going to try and burst into Wanda's world with a bang.

It's clear that S.W.O.R.D. has specific plans by sending that truck full of...something...up to the Westfield perimeter, but I'm not too optimistic that their plans work out accordingly. For one, the wall that's largely invisible most of the time is burning bright red when the truck makes impact, which makes me think it's a built-in response, as it were, that Wanda set up to keep intruders out. Well, to keep ANYONE out.
