One of the most iconic moments in 2012’s Pitch Perfect (which you can watch with a Netflix subscription) is when Anna Kendrick’s character, Beca Mitchell, auditions for the Barden Bellas. The song she performs is “Cups” (or, “Cups (Pitch Perfect's 'When I’m Gone')”, a routine based on an old folk song by The Carter Family, written by A.P. Carter, that Beca accompanies herself on by playing a plastic cup.

The moment in the movie proved so popular with fans of the musical comedy that it became a big hit when it was remixed, extended and released as a single. To think, it wasn’t even supposed to be the song in the movie, as Kendrick explained recently on the podcast Call Her Daddy.

During the Pitch Perfect audition process, Kendrick, who we hope to see on the 2026 movie schedule with Misty Green, an upcoming release from A24, explained to host Alex Cooper that she had to prove she could sing. She decided to do her version of the song, along with the cup trick, which she had learned by watching a viral video. According to Hendrick:

The producers of the movie loved it. In fact, they loved it so much that the song Beca was supposed to sing, “I’m a Little Teapot,” was scrapped, and the routine was written into the movie. It’s impossible to imagine that scene taking off had Millennial icon Kendrick been singing the old novelty song. Nor would it have been a hit, it’s safe to say.

In fact, Kendrick didn’t think that “Cups” could be a hit. When the producers talked to her about recording it for a single, she thought it was nuts. Kendrick said:

Before the craze was over, “Cups” became a Top-10 hit, reaching as high as #6 on the Billboard charts. Along the way, Kendrick was dumbfounded at each step, which included making a video for the song. She really had no idea how to react, as she explained:

Whether she could believe it or not at the time, it has since become one of the most iconic moments and songs of the Pitch Perfect franchise. It was performed by Barden Bellas in the sequel as a ballad. It didn’t appear in the third movie, but it does have a cameo on the Pitch Perfect 3 soundtrack, where it was mashed up with George Michael’s “Freedom ‘90,” and it was also performed by the contestants of The Voice Season 12. Who knows, maybe we’ll see it again if Pitch Perfect 4 ever gets made!

There’s a Pitch Perfect reunion happening in theaters with the new comedy, Bride Hard, being on the 2025 release calendar for this weekend. It stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp as best friends after the pair played Barden Bellas in the three Pitch Perfect movies. When looking ahead to the fourth installment of the series, they both already have some ideas for what Fat Amy and Aubrey could do next.

After Rebel Wilson previously teased Pitch Perfect 4 was being developed last year, the actress told Variety that she’s hopeful the continuation of the Barden Bellas’ antics will “go into production next year.” When asked about what could be next, Wilson also said this:

Hey, that’d be one reason for the all-female a cappella group to reunite. If so, it would be rather on brand with the movie Wilson and Camp just made. In Bride Hard, Wilson plays a maid of honor (and a secret agent) who accidentally hijacks her best friend’s (Camp) wedding when mercenaries take the party hostage. Plus, Wilson also got married herself to Ramona Agruma, whom she went Instagram official with back in 2022, so I imagine she has some fresh material in that hilarious mind of hers as well.

Anyways, Rebel Wilson’s thoughts on Pitch Perfect 4 definitely open up the question as to who of the Barden Bellas might get married for it.

I especially love what Anna Camp had to say about where she’d like Aubrey to land nearly a decade since we last caught up with the Bellas:

Now, wouldn’t that be hilarious? Aubrey is famously the most uptight of the Bellas and always kind of seems to want to be in control in her life. It’d be pretty fun to see her take a total 180 for Pitch Perfect 4.

When talking about their plans for the movie, Wilson pointed out how many of the main cast “are directors now” and could helm the new Pitch Perfect. Anna Kendrick made her directorial debut with Netflix’s chilling true crime movie Woman Of The Hour, while Brittany Snow helmed the important eating disorder film Parachute, for example.

Considering two of the Pitch Perfect stars are already working together again and they’ve all remained friends over the years, it’s definitely exciting to imagine what a new Pitch Perfect movie could be like. What hit songs will they perform? Where are each of their lives now that they are no longer in college? Wilson and Camp already have some solid ideas cooking.

College is often the most fun four years in a young person's life. Sometimes it's even more than four years. It's that time in life that is between high school and living under your parents' rules, and adulthood, when you have to live under society's rules. It's a brief interregnum when the rules are loosened and the party is on.

There are a lot of great college movies out there reflecting this. Classics like Animal House, The Waterboy, Back To School, and many others. This list is dedicated to all those wonderful movies that make us laugh and reminisce about our own time in college.

National Lampoon's Animal House

National Lampoon's Animal House is the peak of the genre. Set in the '50s, but with a very 1970s sensibility, everything about the movie is pretty much perfect. The performances, especially from John Belushi, are uniformly brilliant. The writing is hilarious, and the story is actually pretty coherent, which isn't always the case in movies like this. It also happens to be one of the most quotable movies ever.

Back To School

If you want to talk about quotable movies, few are as great as Back to School. Rodney Dangerfield was always at his best when he was just allowed to be himself and crack his one-liners like he did in his stand-up act. Thornton Melon is a perfect character for that, and a senior citizen returning to college is both a dream and a nightmare for almost everyone who loved college. We can't all be great divers, though.

Real Genius

How much fun would it blow up a house using lasers and a huge vat of popcorn? That's one of the things Real Genius set out to show, and wow, does it look fun! Val Kilmer is amazing in this nerdy, hilarious movie from the '80s that hits all the high notes of being a partying nerd in college.

PCU

PCU is most remembered for being the movie that helped really launch the careers of Jeremy Piven and Jon Favreau. It's a pretty funny mockery of college life in the '90s, that while it's pretty sophomoric and ridiculous, so is college in many ways. Frisbees, protests, obnoxious rich kids in loafers, and angry jocks all appear here, making it a nice, well-rounded satire

Everybody Wants Some!!

The "spiritual sequel" to the classic high school movie Dazed And Confused, Everybody Wants Some!! doesn't quite reach the heights of Richard Linklater's classic '90s movies about the 1970s, but it's still a really funny movie. It's one of many that highlight athletes in college and nails that life perfectly.

School Daze

It's not surprising that a young Spike Lee looked to college for inspiration, having graduated from NYU not too many years before making School Daze. It's only his second movie, and while it's clear he hasn't quite found his true voice yet (that would come a year later in Do The Right Thing), Lee is really gaining confidence as a director and the movie is wild. It's far from perfect, but it's really funny.

Old School

Old School answers the question, "What if you could go back to college just for the parties?" Everyone dreams, at least a little bit, about reliving those old glories at the frat house, chugging beer and streaking the quad. It's one of Will Ferrell's best comedic performances, amongst many. It's hard not to have some sympathy for Snoop Dogg though.

Van Wilder

Ryan Reynolds become a star after Van Wilder and he's so good in it, it took him years to shake the typecasting. It's Animal House for a new generations and while some people (usually from an older generation) simply can't get into it, Van Wilder - and Reynolds - are both brilliant.

Revenge Of The Nerds

We can talk about how Revenge of the Nerds needs to be canceled for a number of reasons, like the racism and the assaults, but at the time, it was a stone-cold classic. You can't excuse just how genuinely offensive it is by today's more enlightened standards, you also can't ignore how funny it was in its day.

Legally Blonde

Ok, so technically Legally Blonde is mostly about law school, not undergrad, but the movie starts with Reese Witherspoon as a vapid undergrad sorority girl who is spurred to action by a dopey boyfriend who dumps her. So it is a little about college. Besides, there aren't a lot of movies about law school, either.

The Waterboy

College sports, especially football, and especially in the South, are a huge deal. There aren't actually that many comedies about it, unless you count the unintentional comedy of The Program. The Waterboy isn't Adam Sandler's best movie, but everyone can admit that it has its moments, and any movie with Henry Winkler as a hapless football coach has to be good on some level.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

Road trips are an important rite of passage in college and so it's no surprise that there are a bunch of movies about them. Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle may have the most ridiculous reason for the road trip, as two guys get a little too high a decide they must have White Castle. It's not about the destination, though; it's the friends they meet along the way (like Neil Patrick Harris) that make the trip so memorable.

The Sure Thing

The Sure Thing is another road trip movie, this one with a pretty standard purpose: to meet a girl on spring break. John Cusack is as charming and as cool as ever in this one, and while almost none of it happens on a campus, neither are a lot of anyone's best memories of their college years.

Pitch Perfect

In the 2000s, glee clubs and singing groups became all the rage in high school and college. So it makes sense that a movie like Pitch Perfect would become one of the most beloved comedies of the decade. It features a stacked cast including Elizabeth Banks, Rebel Wilson, Anna Kendrick, and more, and it's just as funny as any of the classics from previous decades.

Road Trip

Tom Green is amazing in Road Trip as one of the "kids" who has been in college for waaaaaay too long. He basically plays the unreliable narrator, telling prospective students just how crazy college can get when he tells them about a road trip some older students experienced. It's raunchy and ridiculous, and gut-bustlingly funny.

Dear White People

Dear White People is as serious as it is funny, making it both a proper critique of "white" colleges and a biting satire of them. There aren't a lot of comedies telling the stories of African-Americans in college, and this critically acclaimed movie should have inspired more, because it's so good.

The Freshman

1990's The Freshman is not really remembered for being a college movie, but it is. Remember, Matthew Broderick's character is trying to survive in a very expensive city (New York) at a very expensive university (NYU). Of course, it's best remembered for Marlon Brando satirizing his Godfather character, but at it's heart, it's still a college movie.

Oxford Blues

There is nothing more "'80s" than a movie about a guy who scams his way into one of the most prestigious universities in the world just to meet a girl. Rob Lowe stars as a guy who does just that in Oxford Blues. He meets the girl, chugs some beer, and becomes an elite rower in this classic from 1984.

The Rules of Attraction

Any movie based on a Bret Easton Ellis novel is going to be pretty funny and very dark. The Rules of Attraction is both to the nth degree. It's not as popular as some of the other movies based on Ellis novels, like Less Than Zero and American Psycho, but it has all the satire that the author is known for is and it's a much funnier movie than most remember it being.

Drumline

2002's coming-of-age comedy Drumline was only a minor hit at the time, but it's easy to see why so many members of the cast, including star Nick Cannon, Zoe Saldana, and Orlando Jones, became stars later. It's a rare movie in the genre that takes place on an HBCU, and if you've never seen it, you need to see it soon!

22 Jump Street

While it's not as good as 21 Jump Street, the sequel, of course called 22 Jump Street, does have some occasional laughs thanks to Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

Happy Death Day

Comedic horror movies rarely work for me, but Happy Death Day defies that. It's genuinely funny, and pretty darn scary too! Sure, it's dark, but that a feature and while it didn't have to be in college, it does benefit from the setting.

Necessary Roughness

Necessary Roughness is a completely ridiculous movie, and it's far from the best on this list, but it is a movie that is very much of its time. It's funny, though not as funny as some of the classics. It does feature a great cast, and it definitely has its moments, but any movie about big-time college football could have been so much funnier.

Life Of The Party

Comedies about adults going back to college aren't unique. What makes Life of the Party unique is one person: Melissa McCarthy. She is a one-woman tour de force in this one and brings all of what makes her so funny to the role. It's over the top and insane, just how you want a movie from this genre to be.

Neighbors

Neighbors is unique on this list because it's not from the perspective of the college kids, but from the hapless neighbors who have to deal with a bunch of idiots. It sounds like a nightmare for any adult, because it is, but it's also a riot.

Horse Feathers

Movies making light of college life go back way further than you may realize. All the way back to the Marx Brothers and their classic, Horsefeathers in 1932. It's kind of amazing how similar the themes are surrounding that most American piece of campus life, the college football game.

Accepted

Admittedly, Accepted is about going to a fake college, but there are plenty of people who would call their school a fake one on some level, too, right? The 2006 movie highlights the pressures so many feel to get into college, and for that alone, it belongs on this list.

American Pie 2

There isn't a ton to write about here. American Pie 2 is a fairly straightforward sequel to the high school classic. It's not as funny as the original, but it has its moments, for sure. The characters are all pretty one-dimensional, but so are most college kids, if we're being honest.

Adventureland

Ok, Ok, this one is a bit of a stretch, but first jobs out of college are as much a rite of passage as college itself. That's especially true of a job whose only purpose is to save money for the trip of a lifetime. Your first "adult" love falls into those rites as well, as this movie highlights.

Wonder Boys

There are, of course, movies that really focus on the "other side" of college life, that of the professors. Wonder Boys is one of the best, in that regard. Michael Douglas stars in this film, based on the Michael Chabon book of the same name. It may not have been a hit, but as the 81% "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes proves, it's worth checking out.

Admission

Another movie on the list from the professor's point of view - or at least the administration's point of view - is the Tina Fey-led Admission. It's about exactly what you expect. Fey stars as an admissions officer at Princeton who falls in love with a high school college counselor played by Paul Rudd. It's a pretty textbook rom-com that is cute and funny, and the charming cast makes it worthwhile.

Monsters University

Even Pixar can get in on the fun here with their hit animated comedy about college life...er... at least the college life of monsters in Monsters University!

Anna Kendrick’s latest movie, Woman Of The Hour, arrived last weekend for anyone with a Netflix subscription, but amidst promoting the movie, she’s noticed she’s getting a lot more calls for Pitch Perfect 4 from the public. Oh, and her own mother, who even reached out to her about an idea she is “willing to sell.”

When Kendrick stopped by Chicks In The Office to talk about her thrilling directorial debut, she spoke to the possibility of the Barden Bellas reuniting after 2017’s third movie. As the actress shared, in the past six months particularly, she’s noticed the public is “really insistent” on another sequel about the a cappella group, including her mom. In her words:

As Kendrick shared on the podcast, she is getting calls for Pitch Perfect 4 so much that it’s even reaching text exchanges with her closest relatives. While on the show, she shared that her own mother has “an idea” for how the franchise could continue, but wouldn’t get into details over text. Oh, and she’s so serious about it, she started talking about getting the studios involved. Aca-scuse me, Mama Kendrick is clearly ready for her daughter to return just like fans!

Kendrick was then pressed about whether Pitch Perfect 4 was actually in the works, or something a lot of people want. Here’s how she responded:

Speaking of Rebel Wilson, back in May, the actress said there was a fourth Pitch Perfect “being developed” but the script had to be right first before moving forward. It doesn’t sound like Anna Kendrick is clued into the process, but it’s great to hear she’s up for it, should a good idea roll in. She continued:

Many of the Pitch Perfect gals are close friends in real life and have reunited multiple times in their personal lives, including for the movie’s 10th anniversary a few years ago. When CinemaBlend caught up with Brittany Snow earlier this year, she said she picked Anna Kendrick’s brain about directing while helming her own first feature, Parachute. Since the gals have kept up their bond so well over the years, it certainly feels like it’s only a matter of time before Pitch Perfect 4 happens.

However, every movie needs the budget to back it up, and as Rebel Wilson spilled earlier this year, Universal almost replaced the whole cast with younger actors for the third film, and it felt like “a kick in the face” to the original cast. Hopefully with all this conversation around another movie, we do see Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and more in a sequel, because the people certainly want it!

Don’t you think it’s been too long since the Barden Bellas graced us with their vocals? The Pitch Perfect movies were some of the best comedies of the 2010s, but since the 2017 threequel, the a cappella group went their separate ways. However, while Anna Kendrick was promoting one of her 2024 movies, she shared some promising thoughts on playing Beca again.

On Thursday, Anna Kendrick attended the premiere of Woman of the Hour, which is her very thrilling directorial debut that will reach those with a Netflix subscription on October 18. While on the red carpet in Los Angeles, Kendrick said this about Pitch Perfect 4:

While speaking to People, Kendrick lit up at the idea of another Pitch Perfect movie being in the works. Kendrick’s positive thoughts about a sequel come after Rebel Wilson said this in May:

As Wilson spoke to, she knows that there’s executives over at Universal who are trying to crack the code on another Pitch Perfect movie after the success of the originals. However, she hadn’t gotten her hands on a script at that time. Kendrick doesn’t sound like she had read anything either based on her response, but she's hopeful that another movie from the comedy franchise could, in fact, happen if Wilson in particular keeps speaking up about it.

When the first movie came out in 2012, it was a huge commercial hit considering it made $115 million against a $17 million budget. The 2015 sequel was even bigger with a worldwide box office haul of $287 million. However, the third movie saw its popularity take a dip with a (still impressive) $185 million haul. According to Wilson, for Pitch Perfect 3, the cast was almost completely replaced with a younger cast and it felt like a “kick in the face.”

Between Wilson and Kendrick showing their interest in more Pitch Perfect, it certainly could be in their futures! Since their time in the movies, much of the cast have reunited a few times over, with Brittany Snow recently telling us she picked the brain of Kendrick in her own recent directorial debut, Parachute. The question likely comes to this: how do the Barden Bellas return when they are no longer in college?

The 2010s were a transformative decade for movies as directors like Damien Chazelle, Greta Gerwig and Jordan Peele hit the mainstream, and many actors exploded into stardom or gave career-defining performances in movies like theirs. Now, it’s time to celebrate some of the best films of this decade and the performers who starred in them. 

Emma Stone – La La Land 

This ode to Old Hollywood and modern romance from Damien Chazelle is widely beloved in part because of Emma Stone's performance. If you go back to reviews for La La Land, you’ll see Stone and Ryan Gosling praised for their work as they played Mia and Sebastian, two aspiring artists who fall in love with each other. Notably, Emma Stone won her first Oscar for the film because of the wonderful performance she gave as the up-and-coming actress. 

Kristen Wiig – Bridesmaids

When it comes to Bridesmaids and all its hilarious lines and gags, we all need to say a collective thank you to Kristen Wiig. Not only did the Saturday Night Live alum lead the stellar ensemble cast of this 2011 flick, but she also wrote the movie with Annie Mumolo, and they got an Oscar nomination for it. 

Mahershala Ali – Moonlight

Moonlight, which famously won Best Picture in 2017, is a coming-of-age film that follows Chiron through three stages of his life, focusing on him exploring his sexuality and identity. In it, Mahershala Ali plays Juan, a man who has a pivotal role in Chiron’s early life. Famously, Ali won his first Oscar for his moving performance in this film. 

Daniel Kaluuya – Get Out

Get Out is considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time, and it marked the directorial debut of Jordan Peele. While this film about the deeply dark turn a trip takes after a white woman brings her Black boyfriend home to meet her family is career-defining for its director – as he’s gone on to become quite the name in the genre – it also marked a major breakout for Daniel Kaluuya who played the film’s lead, Chris. 

Amy Adams – Arrival 

Arrival is unquestionably one of Amy Adams’ best movies, and to this day, folks are still livid that she wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for it. She plays Louise, a linguist assigned to decipher and translate an alien language. However, as Arrival’s ending makes abundantly clear, there’s way more to it than that, and one of the major reasons this movie works is because of Adams’ masterful, emotional and nuanced performance. 

J.K. Simmons – Whiplash

In Whiplash, one of J.K. Simmons’ best films, he plays a brilliant and brutal jazz conductor and instructor named Terence Fletcher. During the film, Miles Teller plays a young drummer named Andrew who is determined to become great, and his intense relationship with Terence and the notion of being the best is what makes Damien Chazelle’s film magnificent. On top of its overall acclaim, Simmons also won an Oscar for his performance.

Hugh Jackman – Logan 

Logan was Hugh Jackman’s last ride as the Wolverine, and it was basically perfect. While he’s returned to the role since in Deadpool and Wolverine, Logan still serves as a wonderful conclusion to the iconic X-Man’s story. It was also a game-changing Marvel film, as it brought a level of grit and intrigue that we hadn’t really seen in a movie from this universe before. 

Ben Affleck – Argo 

Much like Good Will Hunting, Argo marked a major milestone in Ben Affleck’s career. It was one of the films that solidified him as a top-tier director, and on top of that, he also starred in the film about a CIA agent disguised as a producer who goes into Tehran on a mission to save a group of Americans. Oh, also, the film went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars too. 

Jesse Eisenberg — The Social Network

The Social Network cast is stacked, however, it wouldn’t be what it is without Jesse Eisenberg’s performance as Mark Zuckerberg at its center. His nuanced performance which is somehow both collected and chaotic compliments Aaron Sorkin’s fast-talking script perfectly, and he expertly helped build up tension in the film that director David Fincher is known for. All around, that made for a perfect, heart-pounding drama about the rise of Facebook.

Leonardo DiCaprio – The Wolf Of Wall Street  

While Leonardo DiCaprio has a long list of career-defining performances, and he and Martin Scorsese have made many great movies together, you can’t deny that his portrayal of Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street tops that list. 

Brie Larson – Room

The film Room, which is about a mother and her son escaping captivity, is masterfully led by Brie Larson, who plays Ma. Both she and Jacob Tremblay, who played her son Jack, were praised for their performances, and in 2016, the actress won an Oscar for her work. 

Daniel Craig – Knives Out

Now, I know that Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond was still happening in the 2010s. However, an equally important and brilliant role he took on was as detective Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s first whodunnit Knives Out. Now, after leading the cast of Knives Out, Craig has gone on to reprise his role as the Southern detective on multiple occasions, because he loves it and so do we. 

Ryan Gosling – Drive

If you look over Ryan Gosling’s best movies, on one side you’ll find his brilliant comedic films – like Barbie and The Nice Guys – and on the other side, you’ll find his stoic and dramatic performance, like the one he gives in Drive. Put simply, Drive wouldn’t work without the actor’s lead performance, because the entire film hinges on him and his abilities. 

Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool

After years of working to get it made and some well-timed leaked footage, finally, in 2016, Deadpool came out and we got to see Ryan Reynolds in his element as the Merc with a Mouth. 

Casey Affleck – Manchester By The Sea 

In a film about a man returning home to reckon with his past and grief after losing his brother, Casey Affleck gives an emotional and commanding performance. Not only did he win an Oscar for his work in this drama, but it’s also one of the big defining roles of his career. 

Chris Evans – Captain America: The Winter Soldier 

Chris Evans began and ended his tenure as Steve Rogers in the 2010s. While all his outings as the star-spangled man with a plan were excellent, nothing tops his performance as Cap in the political thriller that is the Russo brothers’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is easily one of the best Marvel movies ever made. 

Ralph Fiennes – The Grand Budapest Hotel 

Under Wes Anderson’s precise direction, Ralph Fiennes occupied the pastel world of the Grand Budapest Hotel with grace and style. His fast-talking M. Gustave went on quite the adventure in this film, and he won over the hearts of audiences with his quick wit, smooth charm and impeccable work ethic. 

Natalie Portman – Black Swan 

Throwing it back to the beginning of the decade, Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 psychological thriller Black Swan showed us Natalie Portman’s talents in a new light. While she had been on the scene and in big movies for years, this film marked a major milestone in her career as her performance as a tortured ballerina got her an Academy Award. 

Matthew McConaughey – Dallas Buys Club

Obviously, for a couple of decades before this, Matthew McConaughey was known and beloved for fun movies like Dazed and Confused and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. However, in 2013, Dallas Buyers Club marked a notable shift in his career. Not only did he win an Oscar for this dramatic turn as a man who finds out he has AIDS, but he also went on to star in acclaimed projects like Interstellar and True Detective one year later, cementing himself as a magnificent dramatic actor with serious range. 

Jennifer Lawrence – Silver Linings Playbook

Yes, Jennifer Lawrence leading The Hunger Games cast is one of the biggest triumphs of her career. However, amid all of that, she starred in the beloved dramedy Silver Linings Playbook with Bradley Cooper, and that’s the film for which she won her Oscar. This magnificent film about two people learning to live and thrive through grief and mental illness, is a thoughtful and funny film that Lawrence steals with her amazing performance. 

Brad Pitt – Moneyball 

Moneyball is the story about the general manager of the Oakland A’s using his business savvy and what little money his team had to assemble a rag-tag team of MLB players. Brad Pitt plays said manager, Billy Beane, and I mean it when I say the movie really wouldn’t work without him. He’s at the center of it, and he carries it to victory just like his character did with the A’s.  

Chadwick Boseman – Black Panther 

We sadly lost Chadwick Boseman way too early, however, his legacy will live on forever. This is in part because of his performance as the King of Wakanda, T’Challa. Black Panther was a historic moment in modern movie history, and his incredible take on the titular hero is a big reason why. 

Margot Robbie – I, Tonya 

Before I, Tonya, Margot Robbie was beloved for her supporting and ensemble roles in films like The Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad. However, one of the movies that helped solidify her as both a leading lady and super producer was I, Tonya. She played Tonya Harding and produced the film under the banner of her company LuckyChap – which went on to make films like Barbie and Promising Young Woman. 

Florence Pugh – Midsommar

Talk about a dynamic duo. Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan are a match made in heaven, and that was solidified into fact when the actress played the titular Lady Bird in the director’s breakout film. Not only did fans fall in love with Ronan’s performance as the defiant teenage gal, but she also received wide acclaim and an Oscar nomination for it. Plus, it was the beginning of a glorious partnership between her and Greta Gerwig as they then went on to make Little Women together. 

Timothée Chalamet – Call Me By Your Name

These days, when people think of Timothée Chalamet, they likely think of him as Paul Atreides, the leader of the Dune cast. However, before that (and in a different decade) the film that sprung him into the mainstream was Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name. The deeply romantic and tender coming-of-age drama was led beautifully by Chalamet, and since then he’s taken on more roles that have helped cement him as one of the top-leading men of his generation. 

Anna Kendrick – Pitch Perfect

If you were a kid in 2012 (like I was), odds are you learned the “Cups” song. The movie about college acapella was a phenomenon in the early 2010s, and it served as a big breakout leading role for Anna Kendrick. Not only was she funny as Becca, but everyone also became aware that she had the singing voice of an angel.  

Lupita Nyong’o – 12 Years A Slave

Lupita Nyong’o’s first feature film was 12 Years A Slave. Her performance in the movie by Steve McQueen won her an Oscar in 2012 and solidified her as a top-tier dramatic performer. Since then, she’s gone on to star in massive blockbusters like Black Panther and A Quiet Place: Day One. 

Joaquin Phoenix – Joker

There have been many amazing takes on the Joker, and Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck was a totally new one. In Joker, we see the villain’s origin story, and it’s a film that’s unlike any other DC project. The haunting performance ultimately won the actor an Oscar, and he reprised the part again in Joker: Folie à Deux.

Charlize Theron – Mad Max: Fury Road

The movie is named after Mad Max, and he’s great, don’t get me wrong, but Furiosa steals the show. Charlize Theron’s performance as the driver in Mad Max: Fury Road is fierce and jaw-dropping, and she’s one of many reasons why George Miller’s movie is considered one of the best action films. 

Michael Cera – Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

You can’t have Scott Pilgrim vs. The World without a perfect Scott Pilgrim and that’s who Michael Cera is. He perfectly played the awkward yet heroic protagonist in Edgar Wright’s beloved film, and to this day, it's considered some of his best work.

Matt Damon – The Martian

This Ridley Scott movie is literally about one man who is stuck on Mars. Yes, there are other people in the film trying to save him. However, overall, The Martian is Matt Damon’s movie. He plays the stranded astronaut and scientist, and the heart, charisma, intelligence and even humor he brings to the space drama is unforgettable. 

All around, the 2010s were full of films that are on their way to becoming all-time classics, and it’s in part thanks to the brilliant actors who starred in them. 

Aca-scuse me? What happened to the Pitch Perfect movies? It’s been over six years since Universal Pictures last released a movie from the highly popular franchise, and while our hopes had been pretty much non-existent for more sequels to arrive, Rebel Wilson has just offered a great update about Pitch Perfect 4 being in the works. 

Pitch Perfect was a huge breakout career moment for Rebel Wilson when the first movie came out in 2012. These days the main Pitch Perfect cast all remain successful actors in Hollywood, and they have each taken their careers into exciting places since the last Pitch Perfect movie. But, it would be pretty sweet if we got another film that reunited them on the big screen! 

What’s The Latest On Pitch Perfect 4?

When Rebel Wilson guested on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, she offered some insight about the future of Pitch Perfect. In her words: 

Wow, it sounds like Pitch Perfect 4 may in fact happen! Rebel Wilson said the movie is in the development stage of production, with some writers tinkering around with a script at the moment in hopes of bringing back the original cast. The Hustle star apparently doesn’t know what is being planned in terms of the story, but she’s hopeful Universal will pull off a continuation of the comedic franchise. 

What Has Been The Hold Up On Pitch Perfect 4? 

In the years since Pitch Perfect 3’s release in 2017, we haven’t really heard much at all about another movie in the franchise. The last film in the trilogy made nearly half as much as the first sequel and was poorly received in comparison to the other installments. 

Rebel Wilson previously revealed that Universal almost replaced the main cast for younger actresses for the third movie, which felt like a “kick in the face” for herself and co-stars like Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow. Even though the Pitch Perfect gals have been spending time outside of singing for the Bellas, they celebrated 10 years since meeting in 2021 with some fun at the beach.  

Even though we haven’t seen more Pitch Perfect movies, in 2022 a spinoff series for Adam DeVine’s character, Bumper In Berlin, was released. The series is available to stream with a Peacock subscription. Aside from Rebel Wilson’s exciting update on Pitch Perfect, the actress has been promoting her memoir, Rebel Rising, which hit bookshelves last month and has since become a bestseller. 

Hopefully, her sentiments about a fourth Pitch Perfect movie lead to one more story for the Barden Bellas! As we learn more, we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Thanks to Pitch Perfect's outstanding cast, the trilogy was a phenomenon. Of course, the ensemble memorably includes Rebel Wilson as fan-favorite Fat Amy. The character’s rambunctious behavior helped carry the Baden Bellas for all three films, especially since she had moments like that infamous Pitch Perfect 2 wardrobe malfunction. However, she almost wasn't able to star in all three films. Now, the Fat Amy actress has revealed why the OG cast was nearly replaced for the threequel, and how she helped change those plans.

The Pitch Perfect alum made the shocking revelation in her memoir Rebel Rising (via Insider). This possible change-up came on the heels of the sequel’s tremendous box office success, grossing over $287 million worldwide. Despite its success, the franchise’s home studio, Universal Pictures, wanted to refresh the franchise before filming for the third flick began. Wilson mentioned the Barden Bellas’ ages played a role in the suggested change, saying:

It’s understandable that Wilson and co. felt underappreciated and undermined after making the franchise quite successful. The first film was a sleeper hit-turned-cultural phenomenon, grossing over $115 million and bringing acapella to the mainstream. Of course, Pitch Perfect 2 appeared to set up Hailee Steinfeld as the next Barden Bella leader. However, it was the OG Bellas who helped the sequel to double the original’s gross. 

The Senior Year star went into further detail, saying Universal wanted her, Anna Kendrick, and the OG Barden Bellas to do a pass-the-torch scene with Steinfeld. However, Wilson had a secret weapon in her back pocket – her law degree. The Hollywood star used her degree to help the group, saying:

The sequel’s success helped Wilson and her co-stars secure their spots in Pitch Perfect 3. They used the box office numbers and research group data, which included Wilson’s housekeeper’s niece. She even got a huge payday of $10 million for the threequel. The comedic actress claimed she tried to get everyone to renegotiate, but managers got in the way.

The Pitch Perfect 3 story isn’t the first secret spilled from Rebel Wilson’s memoir. She called out former co-star Sacha Baron Cohen for allegedly creating a challenging on-set experience for her, which he adamantly denied. 

Wilson’s memoir, Rebel Rising, is currently available in bookstores. The Jojo Rabbit star has multiple projects in the works too, including the action-comedy Bride Hard, which doesn’t have a release date yet. In the meantime, multiple upcoming movies are heading to theaters, so make sure to check out the 2024 movie schedule.

Brittany Snow’s latest movie has her behind the camera for the first time for Parachute. The romantic drama about a young woman navigating her life after leaving rehab treatment for her eating disorder debuted at the SXSW Film Festival last month to numerous accolades. Ahead of Parachute’s theatrical release this weekend, CinemaBlend spoke to Snow about her turn to directing and how one of her Pitch Perfect co-stars was involved.

Snow isn’t the first of her Pitch Perfect cast to make the move to directing in recent years. Her co-star Elizabeth Banks actually helmed her first feature film by taking up 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2 before going on to direct action movies like Charlie’s Angels and Cocaine Bear. Additionally, Anna Kendrick showed her first movie as a director, Woman of the Hour, at the Toronto International Film Festival last year (a premiere she had to miss due to the strikes) ahead of its release later this spring. When I asked Brittany Snow if she’s spoken to either of them about taking on the new title, she said this:

Aww, how sweet is it that the Barden Bellas are staying connected?! Pitch Perfect shook the world over a decade ago when the first movie hit theaters in 2012 and became one of the highest-grossing music comedies of all time. Kendrick and Snow would go on to make two more sequels together as Beca and Chloe, concluding the film series back in 2017.

As the Pitch Perfect movies remain some of the best Brittany Snow movies to watch, perhaps a new chapter of her career has just begun with Parachute. The earnest film, which she also wrote and produced, earned Snow the Thunderbird Rising Special Award at SXSW when it premiered at the fest. Parachute stars Yellowjackets’ Courtney Eaton as Riley, who forms a powerful, but complex relationship with Thomas Mann’s Ethan after leaving rehab for her eating disorder and body image struggles. When I asked the new director about the challenges involved in telling the story, she said this:

Along with Eaton and Mann fronting the cast, Parachute also stars the likes of Gina Rodriguez, Dave Bautista, Joel McHale and Kid Cudi. Oh, and there’s one more Pitch Perfect connection to note. Look out for Chrissie Fit, who played Flo in the two Pitch Perfect sequels. We love to see how Brittany Snow enlisted the help and support of the Barden Bellas for her buzzy directorial debut. Parachute hits theaters on April 5 and VOD on April 12.

Pitch Perfect 2 gave us a lot of moments to obsess with that involved Fat Amy like “crushing it” sliding down the stairs or her not-so-subtle flirts with Bumper. But, the one scene that’s still in the back of our minds was the time Rebel Wilson did an aerial stunt for the opening Bellas performance. If you can aca-believe it, the Australian actress reveals a behind-the-scenes secret about that wardrobe malfunction scene that makes me want to rewatch it now.

What Pitch Perfect 2 is about is the Bellas trying to make a comeback after being suspended when Fat Amy’s aerial stunt during President Obama’s birthday performance goes horribly wrong. If you want to know how wrong, she accidentally split her pants singing Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” revealing to everyone at Kennedy Center her buttcrack due to not wearing underwear. In an Instagram video to promote her memoir, Rebel Wilson revealed a secret about that hilarious wardrobe malfunction scene that I had no idea about. Here’s what she said:

So, the buttcrack revealed by Fat Amy wasn’t Rebel Wilson’s or a stunt double’s for that matter. It was drawn in. Just when you think you have an idea how a scene is done and then an on-set bomb is dropped that makes you want to rewatch it again. Another interesting fact about that Bellas national scandal scene was that the Bridesmaids actress said it took her five weeks to nail down that stunt which truly is impressive as she said.

For Rebel Wilson’s memoir Rebel Rising, the Senior Year actress said she planned on not only disclosing secrets from her time in the Pitch Perfect trilogy but also stories of her personal life that would be of interest to us. Wilson claimed she'd discuss “in-depth” dropping 60 pounds of weight she wanted to lose and the importance of feeling good about yourself. She also wanted to touch more on her childhood and having to deal with rejection in the entertainment industry. In fact, the Cats actress would deal with the stress of being famous through eating donuts which was a pattern she knew she had to overcome. 

The talented actress also said in her Instagram video she talks in detail about the fertility issues she dealt with after turning 40. Fortunately, her dreams of being a parent came true when she announced the birth of her first child on November 22 via surrogacy. Sexuality will also be a topic of conversation the Super Fun Night star will touch upon who went public about her relationship with her girlfriend after being nearly outed by The Sydney Morning Herald. She and Ramona Agruma are still going strong being parents to the daughter they share.

I’m sure we’ll get more surprising facts about Rebel Wilson and the Pitch Perfect movies by reading her memoir Rebel Rising. This year has been a bit of a wild ride for actor Adam DeVine as his career has seen setbacks and advances alike, and passion projects have been discarded in the process. For a while, it looked like the renewal of the Peacock original series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin would be an advance, but recent news has seen Season 2 going from a “renewed” to “unrenewed” status. The story behind why is as frustrating, and as predictable, as you’d expect. 

Pitch Perfect: Bumper In Berlin’s Wild Ride From Renewal To Cancellation

At the beginning of the year, Adam DeVine found himself on a professional roller coaster of emotions. Around the same time the Workaholics movie was canceled at Paramount+, the news came down that his Peacock series Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin was renewed for Season 2. It was a classic case of taking the good with the bad, and DeVine was still in business. 

Alas, that leads us to this most horrible update, as Deadline reported that the streaming expansion of the Universal musical-comedy hit has been rescinded. The write-up bearing the bad news specifies that while this chapter has come to an end, the studio is still interested in keeping Pitch Perfect alive in its stable of IP. That still doesn’t help the fact that Bumper in Berlin has become the latest victim of the trend known as the “unrenewal.”

How Bumper In Berlin Became The Latest Casualty Of “Unrenewal”

Included as the cause of death in the news pertaining to Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin was, unsurprisingly, the twin strike actions of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. With the work stoppage currently putting productions on hold, schedules and budgets are being affected in such a way that projects previously approved are now dropping off.

Amazon Studios canceled two shows under the same circumstances, leading to The Peripheral and A League of Their Own’s second seasons being jettisoned. In a fitting comment during his interview with our own Riley Utley, Pitch Perfect star Utkarsh Ambudkar invoked the strikes as an obstacle for his potential return to that world, and the series about Bumper. Sadly, that prediction has now become even more prescient, thanks to Peacock's recent decision.

Fate has been pretty fickle with the world of streaming originals, but that’s not to say that there isn’t a slim hope of retraction. One truly can't predict where the axe will swing next, especially with the October 1st deadline to save the 2023-2024 TV season looming ever clearly.

While the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are being waged in the name of fair pay and better working conditions, it seems to be an unfortunate reality that the unrenewal bug just might be all the more contagious as time goes on. But perhaps there's hope in the one place that's always faithful: the fans.

Maybe if enough Pitch Perfect loyalists with a Peacock subscription rally around the single season of Bumper in Berlin, the numbers will convince the decision-makers to reverse that cancellation once the strikes conclude. It’s not much, but this seems like the best hope for undoing what has already been undone.

High school and college movies and TV shows are staples of cinema. Everyone loves them and some of our most beloved classics fit into one or the other group. Of course, if your school was anything like mine, most movies and TV shows are entirely unrealistic. That doesn’t make us love them any less, but it makes us wonder what the giveaway would be if we were living in a movie or TV show. 

Massive House Parties

Ok, so there were a few big house parties in my high school years, but not every weekend, and none like the ones you often see in movies. We certainly never had a band like Love Burger play like they (almost) did in the classic teen flick Can’t Hardly Wait. We also never had a bunch of bikers crash the party like Weird Science. The only realistic movie was Dazed & Confused when Pickford’s parents found out about the party in advance and shut down the whole thing. 

Magical Proms

I had a blast at both my junior and senior proms. But it was just a dance in a theater at my school with minimal decorations and water as the only refreshment. It wasn’t anything magical, like you see in movies, with decorations clearly done by crack set designers and big-time bands, like Chuck Berry’s cousin in Back to the Future we just had a crappy rent-a-DJ that played '80s hip hop. And don’t even get me started on the undercover “prom” in Footloose that looks like professional party planners spent weeks setting it up. Where did the money for all those balloons come from? And no one actually lost their virginity after prom, did they?

Everyone Looks 25 Years Old (Or Older) 

Did everyone who went to your high school look like they had to have “flunked about nine grades” like Carolyn Mumford in 16 Candles? Yeah, me neither. We didn’t have anyone who looked like he was stressed out about his mortgage payments like Dylan McKay, played by legendary Luke Perry, did on Beverly Hills, 90210, either. Did anyone at West Beverly look like high school kids? And I know Rizzo in Grease is supposed to be the wise, street-smart one, but she looks old enough to have done time in prison (she’s still my favorite character though and Stockard Channing is an American treasure). 

All The Parents Look 35 Years Old And Are Never Around

While all the kids look 25, all the parents look way too young to be their parents. Like, for example, Amy Poehler in Mean Girls, who was just 33 when playing Rachel McAdams' mother (McAdams was 26). Or they look way too old. And that’s when they are around! What is it with parents constantly being out of town during the school year in the movies. I wish my parents went on luxury vacations and left me free to run the house when I was a teenager, like Tom Cruise’s parents in Risky Business or Emma Stone’s parents in Superbad. I wish. 

Everyone Is Worried About The Main Characters’ Problems

We live in a world of people suffering from “main character syndrome” but in our world, no one really cares about the main character. On-screen, however, it’s all anyone seems to care about. Yes, this is a bit obvious, but does every student need to have an opinion on the main character’s problems like they do in teen movies? In Cruel Intentions, for example, the entire school seems to be caught up in Kathryn’s drama, right up until the end. 

All The Time In The World Between Classes

This one drives me the most nuts. When I was in school, we had 5 minutes between bells. That was five minutes to get up from class, get to your locker, grab your books, and be in your seat for the next class. How is it that kids seemingly have hours between classes? Sure, Not Another Teen Movie is just making fun of teen movies, but they spend more time in the hallway than actually in class. On Saved By The Bell, there never seemed to ever be a bell, just shenanigans in the stairwell! 

Classes Only Exist For The Last Five Minutes Of A Period

When kids actually do make it to class, those classes all seem to exist for only the last couple of minutes and teachers are forced to yell out the homework assignments over the bustle of everyone rushing to the hallway to hang out for a while. My teachers had watches, they knew when the bell was going to ring, why was the teacher in Dazed and Confused struggling to get out her point in the last seconds of the school year? Even Indiana Jones seemed to only teach for the final few minutes of class, even when his students loved him! 

Everyone Is Always Hanging Out In Front Of School In The Morning

Another trope that drives me nuts is how many kids are just hanging out in front of school before the first bell. If I was on time for school, I was just on time and I certainly wasn't tossing around a football or playing hacky sack on the steps of school waiting to go in. No one was. We were all rushing to get in on time. No one at my school would have been there to laugh at Billy when he showed up in his Trans Am in Billy Madison. There wouldn't have been dozens of girls to choose from when Laney Boggs is chosen in that terrible bet in She's All That, either. 

The New Kid Gets Introduced Before Every Class

How many times did you get a new kid join in the middle of the year? How many times did that kid get dramatically introduced in class? Never? Yeah, didn’t happen to me either. That would be torture for a new kid, yet there it is, all over high school movies and TV shows. Like the slow-mo walk-in for Christian in the Gen X classic  Clueless. They certainly weren’t embarrassed by the teacher like Josie in Never Been Kissed.

Over The Top Pronouncements Of Love

Nothing says “teen flick” like an overly dramatic gesture of love and while we all may think about doing it, no one actually stands outside someone’s house with a boombox like John Cusack in Say Anything or Heath Ledger singing with the school band in 10 Things I Hate About You. How did the band learn “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” so quickly anyway? Wouldn’t that take weeks of rehearsal? While we all love the way these scenes play out in movies, and they all bring a sweet tear to our eye, it’s never going to happen in real life, right?

Everyone Is In A Clique

Cliques exist in school, sure. There are the cool kids and the “math kids” and the football players and the greasers... ok, maybe not the greasers anymore. If your school’s cliques are so pronounced that everyone always sits at the same lunch table, every day, however, you need to evaluate if you’re living in an AI simulation of a movie. Mean Girls and Heathers have good examples of this in film,  but nowhere is this more clear, though less true, than the honest, realistic characters in The Breakfast Club mocking the whole idea as “A Brain... And An Athlete... And A Basket Case... A Princess... And A Criminal.” 

Everyone Fits A Stereotype

Speaking of cliques, another popular trope is that everyone in the movie fits exactly into one stereotype. Sure, it’s so movies can quickly develop a character. The jocks are always idiots, like in Revenge of the Nerds,  the cheerleaders are always mean, like Revenge of the Nerds and the good students are always nerds, as in Revenge of the Nerds. Well, I guess that movie is problematic for a few reasons (at least the nerds win). I don’t know about you, but when I was in school, the lines were way more blurred. The best athlete in my school was also student body president and starred in every musical. People don’t fit into boxes! 

Everyone Is In A Relationship

I don’t know about you, but the number of couples that were consistently together in my high school (and college for that matter), was pretty low. Mostly, it was a bunch of teenagers scamming each other and randomly hooking up at parties. In movies, however, it seems everyone is in a committed relationship, and those relationships are destined to last forever. From Marty McFly in Back to the Future to Ferris Bueller, everyone has found their soul mate. It’s no wonder because when we’re kids we all think love will last forever, though most of us find it more often it was fleeting when we look back. 

Your Freshman Year Roommate Is Your New BFF

I was friends with my freshman-year roommate in college for about a semester. We got along great, but as the year wore on, we found our social groups and our own friends. After freshman year, I don’t think we hung out once, while on TV like Max's breakout hit The Sex Lives of College Girls, everyone is immediately best friends with their roommates. The same thing happened when Denise Huxtable moved into her dorm on A Different World. It’s too bad we can’t all live with our best friends like they did. 

Everyone Is Dressed Like A Fashion Show

Yes, this too is a bit obvious, but just because the characters are on TV doesn’t mean they have to dress like they are going to a country club like the "richies" in Pretty In Pink, nor do even the most popular girls ever coordinate colors like Heathers and Mean Girls (those two sure have a lot in common). Most of the kids at my school showed up in tee shirts and jeans, once again, Dazed and Confused got this one right. 

Your Dorm Room Is As Big As An Apartment

This is another one that never seems to have any basis in reality. Again, I can point to The Sex Lives Of College Girls. Sure, it’s hilarious, but their dorm room in the first season is bigger than my first apartment. I barely had a closet, much less my own bathroom or a living room. In Gilmore Girls, Rory had not one, but two fireplaces in her dorm room at Yale. Although to be fair, that might actually be true of some of those old dorms at the Ivy League school, I wouldn’t know. 

You Show Up Alone For Your Freshman Year Of College

My mom took me to college. I was grateful to have her, even if I was embarrassed. I don’t don’t know anyone who showed up alone. It seems in movies, though, it’s pretty common for a freshman to just show up alone, usually with little in the way of stuff. In Every Wants Some! Jake shows up for school, by himself, with nothing, it seems, but one box and a small duffel bag, enough for a long weekend, but that’s about it. Traveling even lighter is Beca (Anna Kendrick) in Pitch Perfect. Not only does she arrive on campus by cab, she’s by herself with only one suitcase. That’s going to be a lot of trips to the laundry room. 

There are plenty of good reasons in the context of telling a good story for all of these tropes and weird occurrences for those living in movies and TV shows, and we don't really think of them much as we're watching. We keep streaming these teen movies and we love the characters, so odd things don't really stand out, but when you really think about how unrealistic things are sometimes, it can get bizarre. So be grateful you're living in the real world! 

If you grew up in the glorious decade that was the 2010s, I’d bet money that Pitch Perfect played some sort of role in your childhood. Well, maybe not everyone's, but it was definitely formative to me. I grew up singing along to the “Bellas Finals,” the “Cups" song, and the “Riff Off,” so when the opportunity presented itself to speak with Utkarsh Ambudkar, who played the Treblemakers' beatboxer Donald, I had to ask him about the 2012 classic, and he delivered. Not only did he sweetly reflect on his love for the cast, he also teased his return to the musical world, noting what needs to happen for him to come back. 

While Ambudkar has gone on to work on other beloved projects by joining casts like Free Guy and Never Have I Ever, he still gets recognized for Pitch Perfect all these years later. As he spoke to CinemaBlend about his upcoming movie World’s Best he also noted how much he loves the devoted fans of various shows and movies he's been a part of. And when it comes to the appreciation for the a capella comedy, he said:  

Don’t get me wrong, this whole quote is super sweet, however, it’s the final sentence that really piqued my interest. While Utkarsh Ambudkar listed lots of co-stars he’s still in contact with, Adam DeVine is maybe the most important one to note, as he’s the star of “the Bumper show,” as the Ghosts actor referred to it. Bumper in Berlin got picked up for Season 2, per Variety, and pending the WGA strike, the freestyle rapper teased that he might be on it to reunite with his Treblemaking bestie. 

Seeing Ambudkar join DeVine and Sarah Hyland on Bumper in Berlin would be so much fun! To see Bumper and Donald “gettin' it” on screen again would be hilarious, and seeing a more grown-up version of the Treblemakers’ lead singer and beatboxer/rapper would be amazing. As an OG Pitch Perfect fan, getting that cast together in any capacity is always exciting, especially when it's an in-world reunion and the characters haven’t been on screen together since the first movie. 

Of course, this is all pending the writer’s strike. Once the writers and the studios are able to reach a fair deal, it sounds like Bumper in Berlin Season 2 will be back in action, and there’s potential for Donald to make a comeback. While it likely won’t be on the 2023 TV schedule, if this reunion happens there would for sure be “magic” in it, as the Treblemakers sang in their epic final performance:

When you think of Anna Kendrick and Pitch Perfect, the song “Cups (When I'm Gone" automatically comes to mind. The song was a viral hit before that was a thing and became a Top 10 Billboard hit in the process. Of course, the key to the song’s success was Beca Mitchell showcasing her acapella cup routine. While the iconic scene looked easy to achieve, there was a lot to finding the right cup for the moment. Kendrick admitted she and Pitch Perfect’s director stole a bunch of cups so they could get the scene just right.

The Pitch Perfect alum gave a peek into what went into the “When I’m Gone” scene to make it perfect. Fitting the right cup came down to Kendrick and director Jason Moore being regular sticky fingers. The Oscar-nominated actress spilled to Vanity Fair about why finding the perfect cup was needed to nail the final scene:

While the cup was the key, there was one question that arose during pre-production – how do you justify having a cup there for Beca to use? Kendrick opened up about how the audition cup came into play for the pivotal scene.

Coming off the success of the Twilight franchise, Anna Kendrick went into her Pitch Perfect audition not being sure about the film’s musical elements. However, things came together when she did the first movie’s signature routine. The TV and film actress admitted knowing the song and routine before auditioning for the acapella comedy. It was her idea to perform the act instead of the original audition piece “I’m a Little Teapot.” Her last-minute audition change-up worked in Kendrick’s favor, as she scored the role. Not only that, but she also impressed Moore and producers enough to put the full routine in the movie.

Even though the “Cups (When I’m Gone)” scene became a cultural sensation despite some annoyance from some fans, Kendrick didn’t think the signature scene would become the instant classic it is now. Even after recording the track she was still unsure it would be a success. Kendrick admitted she had “egg on” her face after the song took off.

The cup scene helped to make the first Pitch Perfect movie a cultural phenomenon and a box-office success. That success translated to two sequels and a spinoff streaming series with Adam Devine’s Bumper. A decade after the original film was released, the Pitch Perfect cast has continued to flourish and remained tight with each other since then.

Loki and Pitch Perfect are not two properties that have many obvious similarities. One is a time-travel adventure, multiverse-centered, action-packed show. The other is a movie franchise about college a capella groups. However, with the new Pitch Perfect series that follows the villain of the first movie, Bumper, Elizabeth Banks has explained how the Marvel show inspired the Pitch Perfect spin-off. 

While on The View Banks, who is an executive producer on the series, explained why Loki helped inspire the show, and it has to do with both characters' evolutions from villain to anti-hero. While Bumper is not out trying to save the universe from multiverse chaos, he is on his own journey of self-discovery and acceptance like Loki. Banks explained: 

Now that she said this, it does make sense. By watching the Marvel movies in order we’ve seen Tom Hiddleston's unexpectedly lovable character go from a devious villain who was trying to destroy Earth, to the mischievous brother of Thor who can be helpful at times. Then, in Loki, we saw him take more of a hero role, albeit in a very unconventional way, as he tried to figure out what was going on at the TVA. Now with Season 2 of Loki in Marvel’s lineup of upcoming shows, it seems like the god of mischief is on track to be even more of a hero. Loki’s evolution is honestly quite similar to Bumper’s in Pitch Perfect, so I can see why Banks would make this comparison. 

As for Adam DeVine’s role in the Pitch Perfect cast, there are some overarching similarities between Bumper and the Marvel character. In the first movie, Bumper is the rude and selfish leader of The Treblemakers. The character bullies multiple characters, and he leaves his group to pursue a solo singing career. He’s the clear villain of the first movie and no one really likes him; however, in the second one, he kind of redeems himself and becomes Amy’s (Rebel Wilson) love interest. Now, with this new show, it seems like we might get a bit of a redemption arc for Bumper. 

I think another reason these anti-hero stories work for characters like Loki and Bumper is that the actors who play them are incredibly charismatic. Both Hiddleston and DeVine are incredibly likable people, and their performances are so charming. It's impossible for me to not have a soft spot for their mischievous characters. 

Bumper in Berlin is on the fall TV schedule, and I’m excited to see if more parallels between the singer and the god of mischief keep coming up. When it comes to some of the best comedies out there, there are plenty that come to mind where I know that no matter how many times I watch them, I will always laugh. From older movies to more recent ones, there’s no denying my unyielding love for these comedies when I’m having a bad day and just need to smile. And, what makes them even more special is that all of them are women–led buddy comedies. I just love them. 

From timeless classics like Clueless to newer additions such as Booksmart, these are some of the best women-led buddy comedy movies that have ladies in the lead, and where they are streaming right now. 

Clueless (1995)

In this fun '90s movie, Clueless follows Cher, a high schooler in Beverly Hills with a beautiful life, who takes it upon herself to mentor Tai Frasier, an “unhip” girl that she wants to help, but this altruistic act turns her life upside down. 

There are so many things I could say about this classic teen film to make you watch it. Truly, it’s one of the best out there. Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash are just outstanding as the lead characters, and the performance from the late Brittany Murphy is one I always enjoy. Paul Rudd is in here too, so that’s always a plus as well.

9 To 5 (1980)

Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 is a comedy that tells the story of three working-class women who band together to take down their egotistical and sexist boss, trying to get back at him for all the pain that he has caused. 

9 to 5 talks about important cultural issues and launched these already famous stars to even higher heights. Their chemistry is amazing and so easy to follow, and you can’t help but love the jokes that come as they start to get back at their boss. There’s a reason why a television show, as well as a musical, were developed after the success of the film. I still have the theme going in my head. “Tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen…”

Booksmart (2019)

Jumping to a more recent movie, let’s take a look at the coming of age film, Booksmart. Directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, this film tells the story of two graduating seniors in high school who have lived a pretty safe life. But, on their last day of high school, they decide to do the unthinkable - to break all the rules. 

I love Booksmart. With a passion. As I had only graduated high school three years prior to this film coming out, I connected with the main characters with a passion and loved not only the comedy but the heart behind this film. The chemistry between Feldstein and Dever is some of the best I’ve seen in years, and I need them in more movies together.

Charlie’s Angels (2000)

If you want a badass action film mixed with comedy, check out Charlie’s Angels. An update of the classic series, this film follows three women who are special agents and work for a man named Charlie to take on missions that risk their lives on a daily basis. 

While I’ve always known Charlie’s Angels to be a little bit more dramatic, I like the change in tone for this film, and it helps that the three leading actresses – Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore – all worked together so well. I’ll be honest and say the plot is pretty generic for a spy movie, but it’s the performances from these actresses that draw you in and make this movie a classic to revisit and laugh to.

The First Wives Club (1996)

Jumping back to the 1990s, we feature one of my favorites, The First Wives Club. Starring Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, and Goldie Hawn, this film based on the book of the same name that tells the story of three women who come together for one sole purpose – when their ex-husbands leave them for women who are younger, they want revenge. 

This film is just great from beginning to end. I mean, you already have a knockout when you have comedic legend, Bette Midler, in one of the lead roles, but adding both Keaton and Hawn was such a great move, and they just work together so well. The rest of this cast is stacked, too, but wow, those top three are just the best.

Pitch Perfect (2012)

Pitch Perfect has become one of my favorites. A freshman in college decides to join an acapella group after her father wishes for her to get more involved, but as performances begin, there’s a lot more wackiness that comes to being in this world than she ever could have imagined. 

Pitch Perfect is my version of all those old college movies from the 1970s and '80s. I went into this film thinking this was what college would be like, and to be honest, it wasn't that far from the truth. With a cast that includes Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel freaking Wilson and so many more, it’s key to the comedy’s success.

Girls Trip (2017)

I can’t have a list about female-driven comedies and not bring up Girls Trip. This film, starring Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah follows a group of friends who decide to go on a trip together to a New Orleans music festival in order to connect after a long time of being apart – but of course, nothing is really quite so simple in such a potentially wild city, and craziness ensues. 

Girls Trip is the perfect example of how a film can be overly wacky and still be good. There are so many moments in this film that would never happen in real-life, and yet I found myself laughing so hard because the performances from the main cast were just outstanding. Time even rated it one of the best films of 2017.

Bridesmaids (2011)

It would be a literal sin if I didn’t put in Bridesmaids. Directed by Paul Feig, this film starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and so many other amazing actresses tells the story of Annie, who is asked to be the maid of honor at her friend’s wedding and everything just goes downhill from there. 

There are so many reasons why you should watch Bridesmaids if you’ve never seen the film before. The whole entire Bridesmaids cast is outstanding, it took Melissa McCarthy’s career to another level, the jokes land every time and there are so many quotable moments (“Help me, I’m poor.”) that this will instantly become one of your favorites for a long time.

Sex And The City (2008)

We don’t kiss and tell here – unless it’s about a sex columnist in New York City. Sex and the City is the spinoff film/sequel of the popular HBO series, Sex and the City, that follows the characters as they prepare for new life changes, from getting older to weddings. 

While I wouldn’t suggest watching this film unless you’ve seen the original Sex and the City show, it’s still an entertaining movie with plenty of fun performances from the main actresses. What makes it more fun is that the entire Sex and the City cast is back  and it feels the series never ended, furthering the plot with more shenanigans. It even spawned a sequel and a continuation series years later.

Baby Mama (2008)

Starring Saturday Night Live alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Baby Mama tells the story of a woman who wants to have a baby, but discovers she is infertile. In order to have a child, she hires a surrogate who turns her life upside down. 

I mean, it’s Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. In today’s comedic world, you can’t get better than that. They drive this film and their chemistry together is just out of this world. There’s a reason why they’ve been in several movies after this one. You just gotta love them.

The Heat (2013)

Next up, we have The Heat, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. This buddy cop comedy film (also directed by Paul Feig) features the story of an FBI agent and a Boston detective teaming up to take down mobsters in the city, but due to conflicting styles of work, their investigation turns...hilarious. 

While the plot of the film is as basic as you can get when it comes to a comedy, Bullock and McCarthy have some of the best on-screen chemistry you can get when it comes to buddy cop films. And, I would watch any movie with the two of them over and over if I could.

Outrageous Fortune (1987)

Starring Bette Midler and Shelley Long, Outrageous Fortune tells the story of two women who actually have the same man in their lives – until one day, he vanishes without a trace. Now, despite circumstances, they have to come together in order to find him – and discover that he was not who they thought. 

This is the second Bette Midler-starring film on this list for good reason, and that’s because I love her in this with Long. The two work so well together and the fact that they both go through this craziness makes it all the better. The comedic timing is perfect with these two.

A League Of Their Own (1992)

Last but not least, we have A League of Their Own. This sports comedy, released in 1992 and starring a large female ensemble (as well as leading man Tom Hanks) tells the story of a female baseball team that rises during the second world war in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. 

You just have to love A League of Their Own. Whether it be its stars like Geena Davis and Madonna, or its story, or the fact that it was one of the first real feminist films I ever saw as a kid, there’s so much to love. It’s so popular that it even garnered a reboot Amazon series years later, featuring a new cast.

There are so many amazing comedy films featuring female stars that you have to check out, and if you haven’t, be sure to watch them soon. Now I’m going to go and watch Bridesmaids for the millionth time.  

The internet has been having a field day with Adam Levine memes after being exposed for allegedly sexting several women outside of his marriage. While his wife Behati Prinsloo is reportedly staying with him, she hasn’t spoken about the scandal. Another TV name did decide to speak up on the subject – The Righteous Gemstones’ Adam Devine. It appears the comedian was catching some strays from online users who confused him for the Maroon lead singer due to their similar-sounding last names. So, Devine created a hilarious “not Adam Levine” post, leading to reactions from Alexandra Daddario, Jaleel White, and other celebrities.

The Workaholics alum took to his Instagram account to address the online confusion between himself and the former The Voice coach. Devine tapped into his stand-up comedy background in his post, cheekily taking a swipe at Levine by calling him “a worse singer.” He also addressed the former Voice coach’s alleged DM to his alleged ex-mistress Sumner Stroh asking if he could name his new baby after her with a second joke.

There’s nothing like a sense of humor to calm down an internet mob. Of course, the star got a few jabs in a while reassuring his followers that his marriage is still strong. It’s nice to know Devine took the whole mix-up in stride. But his infectious humor spilled over into his comment section as multiple celebrities left hilarious responses. 

How Alexandra Daddario And Other Celebs Responded

The White Lotus star Alexandra Daddario was relieved to see the 38-year-old actor’s post. She joked that she had been questioning his character, noting,     

The same couldn’t be said for stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings. She cheekily hinted at knowing Devine was capable of infidelity by responding:

Former Songland judge Ryan Tedder fell right in line with Cumming’s claims by calling out the Pitch Perfect star for some inappropriate behavior on social media. Tedder left an outrageous claim by commenting:

Other commentators laid the personal attack to the side and were seemingly just amused by the post in general. Family Matters’ Jaleel White also responded to Devine’s clarification with a simple: 

While White added funny commentary to the hilarious post, The Big Bang Theory’s Lauren Lapkus had a simple take on the Modern Family alum’s correction. She summed up her feeling by responding, "Phew." The simple responses kept rolling in as Shane West was taken aback by Devine's hilarious take. West didn’t have much to say by replying. "Yooo." Finally, West wasn’t the only one keeping it simple as The Goldberg’s Sam Lerner stepped into the comments. Lerner pared it down even more with a simple acronym that many of us probably related to when we read the post: "LOL."

After Lerner gave his simple take, Devin’s Pitch Perfect family had to speak on his clarifying post. His Pitch Perfect co-star Shelley Regner summed up what his followers may have been feeling by commenting:

Other celebs followed in the Righteous Gemstones star’s footsteps by taking jabs at Adam Levine. SNL alum Melissa Villasenor seemed ready to unload on the Maroon 5 frontman by jokingly saying,

Of course, Devine mentioning he was a better singer led Gaslit’s Adam Ray to vouch for him. Ray hilariously recalled seeing the 38-year-old actor perform during a karaoke session while in Japan.

Other commentators like Nina Dobrev, Angelique Cabral, and Jersey Shore’s JWOWW approved by leaving nothing more than laughing emojis. It seemed like the comedic actor’s post struck a chord with many followers and celebs.

Adam Devine finally cleared up the Adam Levine confusion before it made any impact on his thriving comedic career. Publicly, Anna Kendrick has been quiet lately outside of a few news items here and there (like when she apologized to camp counselors about the "Cups" song), but there appears to be a reason, as a new announcement shed light on Kendrick’s newest project. The Pitch Perfect alum is now jumping to make her feature directorial debut through a serious true crime thriller.

Deadline revealed that Anna Kendrick will make her directorial debut with the true crime thriller The Dating Game. In addition to being behind the camera, she will also produce and star in this flick. Upon the announcement hitting the press, Kendrick couldn’t hide her excitement over making her feature directorial debut with the upcoming crime thriller. In her words:

Despite Anna Kendrick being a first-time director, co-producer Stuart Ford had nothing but praise for the A Simple Favor star. He maintained Kendrick getting behind the camera “makes absolute sense” as she can “back her vision for the film.”

Kendrick is taking on a serious subject as a first-time director. The Oscar nominee will tackle the real-life case surrounding psychopathic serial killer Rodney Alcala (a.k.a. The Dating Game Killer) as told through the experience of Cheryl Bradshaw (played by Anna Kendrick), who picked Alcala for a romantic date after appearing on the hit 1970s matchmaking series The Dating Game in 1978. At the time of his TV appearance, the late serial sex offender was on a killing spree. The true crime story was turned into a script by Some Freaks director Ian MacAllister McDonald.

The Stowaway actress will produce the true crime thriller through her production company Let’s Go Again alongside Ford’s AGC Studios. BoulderLight Pictures’ J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, and Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, will serve as co-producers on the project. The upcoming film is currently in pre-production, with production expected to start in late October. Outside of Kendrick’s casting, there hasn't been any additional casting announced.

Along with The Dating Game adaptation, Anna Kendrick has numerous projects in the works, including reuniting with Blake Lively for A Simple Favor 2. Kendrick appears to be on a thriller streak as her upcoming film Alice, Darling is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Now Pitch Perfect fans will be able to return to the world of competitive a cappella singing once more in a new Peacock TV show starring Adam Devine.

In September 2021, Peacock and Universal Pictures announced plans to create a Pitch Perfect TV show exclusively for Peacock. With some news that has come out over the last year, and plenty of great additions to this already-interesting story idea here are some quick things we know about the upcoming Pitch Perfect TV show - otherwise known as Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. 

The Pitch Perfect TV Show Will Premiere On November 23, 2022

If you were hoping that this show was going to pop up on the 2022 TV premiere schedule, look no further, as Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin is set to come out on Peacock on November 23, 2022, according to Variety.

Adding on to the already fun-filled Fall schedule, it won’t be long before we get to see this show come onto the streaming platform alongside a varied amount of different releases, including One Of Us Is Lying Season 2, and the anticipated Vampire Academy. 

Adam Devine Will Reprise His Pitch Perfect Character

The biggest news so far is that Adam Devine leads the cast. Devine was part of the original Pitch Perfect cast. He was one of the film’s main villain-esque characters in the first Pitch Perfect movie. He was the leader of the all-male rival a cappella group, The Treblemakers. However, by Pitch Perfect 2, he softened a bit and became the main love interest for Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson). Devine didn’t appear in Pitch Perfect 3. 

In the Pitch Perfect TV Show, Devine reprises his role as Bumper Allen. This time it’s all about Bumper’s rise to semi-stardom. Adam Devine has appeared in a lot of TV shows since Pitch Perfect, including Modern Family and The Righteous Gemstones. He’s also been the lead in a few romantic comedies, like When We First Met and reuniting with Rebel Wilson in Isn’t It Romantic.

These films and TV shows have shown that Adam Devine can remain hilarious while showing a more layered side to his comedy. We’re excited to see how Devine gives Bumper more layers than we got to see in the first two Pitch Perfect movies. 

The Series Also Features Names Such As Sarah Hyland, Jameela Jamil And More 

While Adam Devine is the big name that is featured in Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, considering his character’s name is in the title, there have been plenty of other fun cast members that have been added to the show for fans to enjoy. 

According to Deadline, Sarah Hyland, Jameela Jamil, Lera Abova and Flula Borg are also a part of the main cast of Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. While we haven’t gotten anything new about the recurring cast, already hearing about the main stars is exciting. 

Sarah Hyland is known for her main role on the Modern Family cast, and recently in 2022, Jameela Jamil has a starring role in the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law cast on Disney+. Lera Abova has been in the film Anna, and if you recall, Flula Borg was actually featured in Pitch Perfect 2, and he will be reprising his role as Piëter Krämer. 

Already, the cast members that are included look like they’re going to be great additions. I can’t wait to see what they do next in this fun comedy series. 

The Upcoming Peacock Series Is Set In Germany

Considering the TV show is called Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, according to the Variety article from before, it would only make sense that the series would take place in Germany. According to the Pitch Perfect TV Show synopsis, it follows Bumper as he relocates to Germany for his music career. One of his songs became huge in Berlin, so he sees this as an opportunity to become an international star. The Pitch Perfect TV show takes place several years after Pitch Perfect 2. 

The show will likely go into more detail on how Bumper and Amy’s relationship fizzled. We’ll also hopefully get a look at the possible rise and fall of Bumper’s career in the USA. It’s hard to tell exactly where the show will go from there, because there are a lot of different directions it could take Bumper’s fame in Germany. 

The fun Peacock TV show Girls5eva has done a great job with a former famous band trying to revive their career, so I think the streaming service shouldn’t have much of a problem creating something clever, insightful, and fun with Bumper’s fame revival in Germany. 

The New Show Will Stream On Peacock

As previously stated, the Pitch Perfect TV show is a Peacock exclusive. The NBCUniversal and Comcast streaming service officially launched on July 15, 2020. The service offers two plans: the basic service that is free to everyone and users of Peacock Premium. With Peacock Premium, subscribers pay $4.99 a month to gain exclusive access to a number of movies and original Peacock TV shows. 

The Pitch Perfect TV show may only be available to Peacock Premium subscribers. However, it might be worth paying the extra $5 a month if you’re a die hard Pitch Perfect fan. 

Elizabeth Banks Is An Executive Producer

Elizabeth Banks appeared in all three Pitch Perfect movies and directed the second film. She was also a producer on all three films. Banks has been a major part of the franchise since its inception, so it makes sense for her to continue her relationship with the Pitch Perfect world with the new TV show.

Banks will be an executive producer on the Pitch Perfect TV show along with Max Handelman, Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Adam Devine, and Megan Amram. Pitch Perfect continues Banks' growing relationship with Peacock. In June 2021, she began developing a Red Queen TV show for Peacock. She will produce, direct, and have a supporting role in the potential Peacock Red Queen TV Show. 

Max Handelman, Paul Brooks, and Scott Niemeyer also were all producers on all three of the Pitch Perfect films alongside Banks.

The Pitch Perfect TV Series Has Finished Filming

As of May 2022, we can confirm that Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin has finished filming. According to Adam Devine’s Instagram, via Comicbook, the actor took to his timeline to share a picture of the end of filming, captioning it, “after 3 months in Berlin techno now makes sense.”

Considering the show is coming out in November 2022, it’s not that surprising that the show has finished and is now being worked on in post-production, which makes me all the more excited.  

The Pitch Perfect TV Show Will Appeal To Super Fans 

According to Susan Rovner, Chairman of Entertainment Content NBCUniversal Television and Streaming division, the new series will have plenty of things that appeal to fans of the original Pitch Perfect movies, including music and the “quirky” sense of humor of the franchise. This likely means that the Pitch Perfect series will still have a lot of aca-jokes in it and clever easter eggs from the original three movies.

Hopefully, we also see some of the original cast make appearances in this Peacock TV show, especially Rebel Wilson and some of the Treblemakers, like Skylar Astin’s Jesse and Ben Platt’s Benji. 

This Is One Of Several Universal Pictures Films Being Adapted Into Peacock TV Shows

In August 2021, Peacock announced plans to make a Field of Dreams TV show with Michael Schur writing and executive producing the series. The film was a 1989 movie distributed by Universal Pictures starring Kevin Costner. The film, Ted starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and a stuffed bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane is also becoming a Peacock TV show.

The series was announced in June 2021 and will be a prequel TV show. McFarlane is in talks to reprise his voice role as Ted. Ted is another Universal Pictures movie that will be joining the Peacock TV show lineup.

As someone who loved the first Pitch Perfect, I’m really excited to see how Adam Devine shows Bumper’s evolution and expands the Pitch Perfect world. I also wouldn’t mind if this series leads to more characters getting their own shows. You know those moments in your life where you realize just how much time has passed? Rewatching the first Pitch Perfect did that for me recently, because only now did I realize that this film came out in 2012. Ten years ago. I was a freshman in high school. 

I don’t even think I saw Pitch Perfect in the theater when it came out, mainly because it was a sleeper hit and wasn’t heavily marketed, so I was one of the many who ended up seeing it once it began appearing on television not that long after. Instantly, it became one of my favorite films to watch repeatedly. After watching for the umpteenth time, I started to assemble the serious thoughts about this film that I knew I had to share. 

Anna Kendrick Was The Perfect Choice To Lead Pitch Perfect

I mean, can you imagine anyone else playing Beca? While I love the whole Pitch Perfect cast, and Anna Kendrick had been in a few movies before, such as her small part in the Twilight cast, or her acclaimed role in Up in the Air, but Pitch Perfect is what made her a household name for Beca's brash attitude, killer beats, and a secret heart of gold hidden underneath everything else. 

I can gladly say that I became a fan of Anna Kendrick after Pitch Perfect, and have watched her in many of her movies and television shows, including the HBO Max original series, Love Life, where she starred during Season 1. In every role, she truly embodies the character, but there’s just something about Beca in Pitch Perfect that stands out to me. 

This Movie Is Definitely A Bit Dated Now

Again, Pitch Perfect came out in 2012. I know that’s hard to believe, but it seriously did - which means that some of the jokes are a little dated. 

I mean, from “Lesbi-honest” to using Cynthia as the token lesbian of the group (who grabs Stacey's breasts), it definitely has its moments that make me cringe a little now rather than laugh. Also, the amount of fat jokes for Rebel Wilson’s character, Patricia, otherwise known as “Fat Amy,” was a bit tasteless back then, and even more so now. 

That Being Said, I’m So Glad This Movie Made Rebel Wilson A Star

Even though some of the comedy from Pitch Perfect is a little dated nowadays, I am so happy that because of the inclusion of Wilson’s character we got to see more of her after. While some of the jokes would be deemed inappropriate nowadays, there’s no denying that Rebel Wilson is still so funny in the way she delivers them. 

Honestly, good for her for seeing her career blow up after this film. She’s such a funny actress who deserves bigger roles, and I’m so happy to see her getting starring parts in films like Senior Year on Netflix, and even the Academy-Award winning film, Jojo Rabbit. I can’t wait to see what she does next. 

That “Cups” Song Seriously Changed A Generation

True story: there is legit a video of me out there on YouTube singing this damn cup song with my friends at a birthday party. Don’t look it up, it’s embarrassing as hell, but that just goes to show you how impactful this scene from Pitch Perfect was to a shy girl like me, which encouraged me to blatantly put myself on the internet performing it. 

While there are many awesome songs in Pitch Perfect - which we’ll get into in a second, “The Cup Song” that Beca sings for her audition for the Barden Bellas truly had nearly everyone across the country grabbing a red plastic cup and learning how to perform it. It was a revolution of cup music, if you will - and honestly, I wish we could go back to that time again. Life seemed a lot simpler. 

Why Wasn’t That Strange Sexual Tension Between Chloe And Beca Ever Talked About? 

Look, I love Brittany Snow. I’ve seen her in so many of her roles in movies and on television. I even watched her in A24’s latest horror movie, X. And I really adored her in Pitch Perfect. But, is no one going to address that strange sexual tension that Beca and Snow’s character, Chloe, seemed to have? Especially in that shower scene? 

Seriously. Even throughout the series of three Pitch Perfect films, there have been so many hints that these two are into each other and yet nothing ever happened and I am still so upset. They had some strange sexual tension the first movie - and that only continued through the next films. Now that would have been some love story. 

I Love That “Don’t You Forget About Me” Moment So Much

I’m a fan of The Breakfast Club just as much as anyone else. I’ve followed The Breakfast Club cast for many years and watched so much of what they have done. So you can say I was very excited for this moment at the end of Pitch Perfect when Beca sings “Don’t You Forget About Me” for Jesse (Skylar Astin) with the Barden Bellas during the finals. 

It’s not just because I’m a fan of the original movie and song, either. It really shows great character development for Beca, who is learning to appreciate the likes and interests of other people and incorporate them into her own music and lifestyle, including that of her love interest. And when she raises that fist right back at him? Ugh, such a great moment. 

The Whole Soundtrack Was Done Fantastically Well 

I am dead serious when I say I don’t think I have listened to the original “Party in the U.S.A.” in the last ten years. Maybe at parties. Who knows? 

The soundtrack to Pitch Perfect is just fantastic. I don’t know who did the mixing for it, but every song and remix slaps, from “The Riff-Off” to the finale and “Right Round,” every cover is just so expertly done and it makes me want to dance each time I listen to these songs. Of course, we already went over “The Cup Song.” An icon, a legend - it was the moment. 

They Really Didn’t Need To Make A Sequel - But I’m Glad They Did

I’m not the biggest fan of movie sequels unless they’ve already been planned as franchises - for example, the Harry Potter films were always destined to have sequels because it was based on an entire book series. Pitch Perfect wasn’t like that, and I could have been very happy with how it ended if I never got a sequel. 

It didn’t need a sequel, but a part of me is really glad they did make the first one. I actually enjoyed watching their stories continue from the original film into their later years of college, seeing them grow in their lives. I liked watching Beca’s internship, and the addition of the hilarious Keegan-Michael Key to the cast. It was a well-written continuation of the characters that we loved, and the stakes were upped, with a worldwide competition this time. 

I still think nothing can quite beat the first, but the second Pitch Perfect is a great continuation of the first film, despite it not necessarily requiring a sequel. 

Keep away from the third film, though. I’d rather not talk about that one. Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. 

Pitch Perfect was a generation-defining musical comedy for many women my age, and I can’t tell you how many times I have revisited this silly film just so I could smile and laugh and dance. 

It’s one of the few films my mom and I always sit down and make sure we watch together when it pops up on television, and for that, I’ll always be thankful - the two of us can practically quote the movie by heart now. With an apparent Pitch Perfect TV show in the works, who knows? Might not be that long before we get to listen to some sick a capella beats again.

It’s truly become one of my favorite movies - and if for some reason, you’ve never seen it before, be sure to watch.

You know, I consider myself an avid movie watcher. I have seen some of the funniest romantic comedies, the best horror films, or even some fun modern musicals that have truly astounded me. But, have you ever done research on an actress before and realized they were in way more movies and TV shows than you thought? Yeah, that was the case with Brittany Snow. 

While recently in the spotlight in one of the 2022 movie releases, X, Brittany Snow has been in the industry for a long time and has starred in some of the huge movies, from comedies to musicals and horror films. If you’re a fan of hers after seeing her in X, here are some other Brittany Snow movies and TV shows that you should definitely check out afterwards. 

Hairspray (HBO Max)

First up on the list, we have one of my favorites. Hairspray, based on the Broadway musical of the same name, is about a young girl who dreams of becoming a dancer on the Corny Collins show, but when she finally gets her shot, she finds out that stardom is not at all what she thought it would be, in 1960s America. 

There is just something I’ve always loved about Hairspray, and that’s in part to the amazing cast, featuring Brittany Snow as Amber Von Tussle. That’s right, she was the mean girl of this movie, and the girl that got lucky enough to kiss Zac Efron several times on the lips. While I’ve seen this movie so many times and have loved it even more each time, Brittany Snow’s character has never gotten old for me and she truly rocked it in this musical, showing how talented a singer she is.

Harry’s Law (Amazon Prime)

In this NBC show, Harry’s Law mainly centers around Harriet Korn, otherwise known as Harry, who recently got fired from her position as patent lawyer. But, instead of getting depressed about it, she decides to bring her associates together and form her own law firm in Cincinnati from the ground-up. 

For the two seasons that the show ran, Brittany Snow played Jenna Backstrom, the assistant to Harry (played by the astoundingly talented Kathy Bates), and she is just so funny. I really wish this show had run longer, because Snow’s comedic timing was off the charts and I truly wanted to see more of her, considering she was demoted to a recurring character in Season 2. There are so many law shows out there and this felt like a breath of fresh air for how funny it was. It’s a shame it’s over, but you can check it out on Amazon Prime now.

Pitch Perfect Series (Peacock, Amazon Rental)

Oh, the Pitch Perfect series shaped me as a young woman. At the start of this franchise, we mainly follow Becca, a college student who is a part of the Barden Bellas, an acapella group that often gets into trouble, whether it’s at school, abroad, or anywhere else - and brings along the tunes with them. 

Arguably, this is probably where a lot of people know Brittany Snow from, as this was where I was first introduced to her in 2012, where she played Chloe Beale as part of the Pitch Perfect cast. Her chemistry with co-star Anna Kendrick was astounding, her music skills even better, and her comedy top-notch, making me laugh several times. I can’t tell you how often I’ve listened to the soundtracks from each of these movies.

Janie Jones (Tubi)

In this drama, Janie Jones mainly follows a young girl who is in search of a parental figure when her groupie-mother abandons her. So, she takes it upon herself to inform her biological father of who she truly is to him, and how this one moment changes their lives forever. 

Brittany Snow plays Iris, a pretty important character who has an essential role in the story as the father’s girlfriend, and honestly, I really liked her in this role. I do think Brittany Snow shines her best in comedy and horror roles (as you’ll see throughout the list) but she showed off her dramatic acting skills in this movie, and if you like a good father-daughter story, this one is great.

John Tucker Must Die (Starz)

If you’re looking for a classic teen film, John Tucker Must Die is a must. In this movie, three girls decide to take matters into their own hands when the most popular boy in school, John Tucker, decides to date all of them at the same time without saying anything, telling each individual girl that they are the one for him. Now, they’re going to make sure he's publicly humiliated. 

This movie is just so ridiculously funny. I know that critics weren’t the biggest fans of it, but it’s a guilty pleasure of mine and I would willingly watch this again, specifically because Brittany Snow stars in it as Kate Spencer. She’s witty and so much more, and I especially love her scenes with Scott Tucker (played by the wonderful Penn Badgley). Are there better teen films out there? Yeah, for sure, but this one is a personal favorite that I think you'll enjoy, too.

Would You Rather (AMC+)

Let’s get started on some horror films. Would You Rather, starring Brittany Snow, is all about the literal game, “would you rather,” except this version has deadly consequences. When Iris needs help to find a donor for her brother, who has leukemia, she has to partake in this party game that just might end her life before she can save his. 

Again, I really think Brittany Snow shines in horror films, because I genuinely love the heck out of her in this movie. The concept itself is such a great idea, using a typical game that kids would play and turning it on its head, and some of these choices in the game are truly outrageously disgusting and scary. But, Brittany Snow acts her butt off and shows off just how much of a badass scream queen she is.

The Vicious Kind (Tubi)

Sometimes, you get caught up in the very idea of love, and that’s the case with characters in The Vicious Kind. In this drama, a brother is intent on trying to warn his brother that his girlfriend isn’t who's best for him - but once he meets her over the Thanksgiving holiday, he ends up becoming obsessed with her. 

I think what I love the most about The Vicious Kind is that the cast is relatively small, but insanely talented. Brittany Snow stars as Emma, and again shows off how great she is as a dramatic actress, but what really drives this film is the chemistry that she has with Adam Scott, who plays Caleb Sinclaire, one of the love interests. Their relationship is something so strange and toxic and yet you can’t look away, and it’s because the both of them act so well in their roles.

Someone Great (Netflix)

Are you ready for a Netflix romantic comedy? Because I am. Someone Great, starring Brittany Snow, Gina Rodriguez and DeWanda Wise, tells the story of three women who decide to have one last big night together in order for one of them to celebrate her new job across the country, despite the fact that her boyfriend has just broken up with her. 

Look, this movie is a total cliché, I’ll admit that, but sometimes, you really need stuff like that. It’s sweet and all about the power of friendship, and the three stars really carry this film and make it such a fun one from beginning to end. Snow is great as Blair, and I would love to have her as a friend any day of the week. Sometimes, all you need is a good friend by your side.

The Pacifier (Disney+)

If you're looking for a fun comedy action movie, check out The Pacifier. Starring Vin Diesel, this film tells the story of a Navy SEAL who has a mission go wrong, resulting in a partner of his dying. But, instead of being thrown back into the action, he is assigned to look after the family of the dead man - becoming a babysitter. 

If we’re being honest, there have been many other fun family movies out there that you could watch and would laugh just as much as The Pacifier, but I like this movie for Brittany Snow’s role in it as the eldest child of the group, Zoe Plummer. She always does her best in comedic roles and this one is no different, as she gets to show her comedic timing and has some great moments with Vin Diesel. It’s another guilty pleasure but I enjoy the heck out of it.

X (Amazon Rental)

It’s why you’re here, isn’t it? X is the latest amazing A24 horror film that arrived in 2022, telling the story of a young woman who wants to become a star in the movie industry (meaning porn), but when she and her co-stars take up residency on a farm to film, they find that the owners there aren’t as innocent as they seem. 

If you want a really good horror movie with Brittany Snow in it, she is amazing in X. Her character, Bobby-Lynne Parker, is entertaining from the start of this film to the point of no return for her, and let me just say that she was part of the scariest moments that X had to offer. If for some reason you haven’t watched X yet, be sure to check it out now.

Who knows what Brittany Snow is going to do next. The Pitch Perfect TV show, maybe? I’m sure that whatever the case, it’ll be just as fun (or as scary) as some of her other great roles have been.

Mean Girls (2004)

Not long after moving back to the United States and enrolling at her first traditional high school, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) finds herself being accepted by a popular group of girls known around school as “The Plastics” and their vengeful leader, Regina George (Rachel McAdams). But in order to be a part of the group, Cady is forced to distance herself from everything she has known, including her friends, her academics, and even her own personality.

Although there are no characters who return to high school as an adult (though this wouldn’t be off brand for Amy Poehler’s character), Mean Girls does have a couple of things in common with Senior Year. Just like Stephanie Conway in the Netflix movie, Cady becomes everything she once hated in order to be considered part of the cool kids on campus, and nearly loses everything in her quest for popularity.

Never Been Kissed (1999)

When tasked with getting a better understanding of teenage culture in the final years of the 20th Century, Chicago Sun-Times copy editor Josie Geller (Drew Barrymore) goes undercover as a high school student. And the whole situation just gets more out of hand from there.

If you were a fan of Senior Year and the way it handled an adult going back to school as a student, then the 1999 romantic comedy, Never Been Kissed, is worth a watch. Sure, Josie Geller isn’t a 37-year-old with the mindset of a high school senior, but again it has a great message about the importance of being true to yourself, no matter what the popular crowd thinks of you.

Clueless (1995)

Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) is the queen of queens at her Beverly Hills high school, but she finds herself in quite the situation after she takes new arrival Tai Frasier (Brittany Murphy) under her wing and accidentally turns her into the most popular girl in school. No longer at the top of the social ladder, Cher is forced to reevaluate her priorities and outlook on life.

There are constant reminders of the impact of Clueless throughout Senior Year, including posters on Stephanie Conway’s walls and the amazing Alicia Silverstone cameo, but it also goes a little deeper than that. Both movies do a tremendous job of showing what happens when the most popular girl in school discovers that she’s no longer the coolest kid around.

The Pitch Perfect Movies (2012 - 2017)

Serial outcast Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) finds both herself and a new group of friends when she joins the a cappella group known as The Bellas at Barden University, learning that you don’t have to have everything in common with someone in order to be a friend for life.

Not only do the Pitch Perfect movies feature some of the best Rebel Wilson performances, they’re also incredibly fun to watch, even if you aren’t about that a cappella life. Over the course of three movies, The Bellas grow from a ragtag group of college girls to one of cinema’s most accomplished musical groups, having fun the whole time.

Easy A (2010)

Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone) goes from a relatively unknown teenager to the most talked-about girl at her high school after her rival overhears her lying about losing her virginity and spreads the gossip all around school. But fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Like Senior Year, the 2010 teen comedy, Easy A, follows a teenage girl who made herself into one of the most popular names at her high school, and one who inevitably has to come to terms with the monster she created. And, bonus points for the supportive dads — Chris Parnell in Senior Year, Stanley Tucci in Easy A — in both of these movies

21 Jump Street (2012)

Police officers Morton Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Greg Jenko (Channing Tatum) are given their most difficult assignment yet: bring down a drug operation by going undercover as two high school students. What could go wrong? Spoiler: everything!

It isn’t hard to see similarities between the surprisingly funny 21 Jump Street and Senior Year, especially when you consider how well each movie tackles how the major differences in the high school experience (and popularity in general) has changed over the years. What was once cool and hip no loner is for these characters as they find themselves going back to school after all these years.

13 Going On 30 (2004)

After wishing to be “30, flirty, and thriving” after her 13th birthday party ends in disaster, Jenna Rink (Christa B. Allen) wakes up the next morning to find herself in the body of a 30-year-old fashion magazine editor (Jennifer Garner) living in New York City, with no memory of the years spent in between. But as they say, the grass is always greener on the other side in the timeless comedy 13 Going on 30…

There are a lot of things 13 Going on 30 and Senior Year have in common, including the obvious angle of both movies centering on young girls who wake up as adult women. But in addition to that, both movies have great stories about the male best friend who has been secretly in love with the central character all this time, which creates an incredibly fun dynamic.

She’s All That (1999)

After being dumped by his girlfriend and future prom queen, Zack Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr.) finds himself falling down the rungs of the social ladder at his high school. In Zach’s moment of defeat, one of his friends presents him with the challenge of turning Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook), a tormented artist and outcast, into the most popular girl in school.

She’s All That, which was co-written by M. Night Shyamalan of all people, does a masterful job of capturing the essence of popularity, high school, and the absurdity of the quest to make someone prom queen. And, let's not forget about that incredible She's All That cast.

17 Again (2009)

Things are going so great for 37-year-old Mike O’Donnell (Matthew Perry) but his luck is changed when he is magically turned back into a 17-year-old version of himself (Zac Efron) and gets a second chance at the high school experience. 

Even though 17 Again takes more of a fantasy route than Senior Year, both movies follow characters who have been given a second chance at life to fix the wrongs from their past in hopes of creating a better tomorrow.

Isn’t It Romantic (2019)

After being knocked unconscious during a robbery attempt, Natalie (Rebel Wilson) wakes up in an alternate reality, one where she is at the center of a great romantic comedy, with all the trappings of a genre this New York architect despises with all her heart.

If you were a fan of Rebel Wilson’s performance in Senior Year, then you should definitely check out the 2019 romantic comedy, Isn’t it Romantic. It has all the laughs, charm, and heart of the 2022 movie plus a great supporting cast that includes Liam Hemsworth, Adam DeVine, Priyanka Chopra, and Brandon Scott Jones (who was also in the Senior Year cast).

Austin Powers International Man Of Mystery (1997)

After his arch-nemesis, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers), is cryogenically frozen in the late 1960s, Austin Powers (Mike Myers) follows suit in hopes of returning to take on his old adversary someday in the future. When that day finally comes, the international man of mystery finds himself out of touch with the then-modern world of the 1990s.

Okay, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery isn’t the first movie that comes to mind when trying to find something to watch after finishing Senior Year, but both comedies feature a main character who is no longer in tune with the world around them. And just like the Netflix movie, this 1997 comedy featuring one of Mike Myers’ most unforgettable characters is full of great laughs.

After her lifelong best friend (Maya Rudolph) gets engaged and asks her to be her maid of honor, a cash-strapped, lovelorn pastry chef (star and co-writer Kristen Wiig) begins to reconsider what she really wants in life while also finding herself in a competition with a wealthy, overbearing fellow bridesmaid (Rose Byrne).

Thelma & Louise (1991)

Thelma & Louise stars Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as women who go on a vacation to escape their mundane lives only to end up as wanted criminals. Thelma & Louise may be the epitome of female friendship movies. It highlights these women’s devotion, love, and trust of one another, while also being very funny and heartbreaking at times. It’s one of Ridley Scott’s best movies and takes female empowerment films to another level.

Now And Then (1995)

Now and Then is a coming-of-age movie that flashes back and forth between the '90s and '70s to tell the story of four childhood friends and their current adult life. The stars of Now And Then include Melanie Griffith,  Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Wilson, Demi Moore, Thora Birch, and Christina Ricci. 

Now and Then is a movie that thrives on nostalgia. Nostalgic for the women within the movie and the women (and men) who watched this movie while growing up. It’s a sweet film that reminds us all of the innocence of youth and those childhood bonds that shape us.

Steel Magnolias (1989)

Steel Magnolias features an ensemble cast that includes Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, and Julia Roberts. It’s about the ties that women in a small-town share. They may drive each other crazy at times, but they are always there for each other when needed.

It’s a funny and tragic story that works best when watching these different women grow and learn from one another. Steel Magnolias highlights the power of friendship, especially in times of need. Lifetime also made a Steel Magnolias remake in 2012 that featured an-all Black cast, led by Queen Latifah.

 Romy And Michele's High School Reunion (1997)

Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is a hilarious movie about two 20-somethings who feel like underachievers. They decide to make up fake careers to make their lives seem glamorous to their former high school classmates. It stars Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow as the title characters. Janeane Garofalo and Alan Cumming also have key roles.

Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is the sort of film that paved the way for movies such as Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar. Female friendship movies that aren’t afraid to be silly. This abandonment of seriousness makes them ridiculous and extremely enjoyable to watch.

Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (2005)

Based on the best selling book series of the same name, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants follows four lifelong teen best friends who are about to spend their very first summer apart. They find a pair of jeans that magically fits all of them, despite being different body types. They decide to share these pants all summer by mailing them to each other along with a note updating the others on what’s been happening. The movie stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, and Alexis Bledel.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants book series was one of my favorites growing up, and the movie does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the books, especially with these characters’ friendships and growing pains. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sequel was released in 2008. There is also always hope for more Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies.

Hidden Figures (2016)

Hidden Figures is based on the true-life story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson -- Black women who helped shape NASA during the Space Race. Hidden Figures is all about their groundbreaking journey and contribution to science and history.  It’s also about their bonds.

It helps them overcome work and personal barriers. These women work together but are also key figures in each other’s lives beyond clocking in and out. Hidden Figures stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae.

The First Wives Club (1996)

The First Wives Club follows three former college best friends who reunite decades later after a tragedy. After discovering that they’ve all been left by their husbands for younger women, they band together to get revenge. The First Wives Club stars Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton.

The movie is an underrated comedy that stars three of the best comedic actresses ever. It also features other well-known funny ladies, such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Maggie Smith, and Stockard Channing. The First Wives Club shows that revenge is best served with your gal pals along for the ride.

Bend It Like Beckham (2002)

Bend it Like Beckham follows Jess (Parminder Nagra) as she secretly joins an-all girl football (soccer for the Americans) team. She befriends teammate Jules (Keira Knightley) and catches the eye of her coach Joe (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).

Bend it Like Beckham is one of the best romantic comedies, but it is also a film about friendship. Jules and Jess’s friendship is the heart of the movie. They help and challenge each other and, eventually, overcome their disagreement over both crushing on their coach.

Girls Trip (2017)

Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Jada Pinkett Smith star in Girls Trip. In this movie, they play former college best friends who come together to celebrate a friend and attend a music festival. The reunion brings up some old wounds but also reminds them of their strong bond.

Girls Trip is a fun comedy that puts the high in hijinks. The film was a major hit. It performed well at the box office and received high praise from critics and audiences. It helped make Haddish a household name. It was such a success that there are plans for a sequel.

Plan B (2021)

Plan B is a Hulu original film that focuses on the adventures of Sunny (Kuhoo Verma) and Lupe (Victoria Moroles). After Sunny loses her virginity at a party, she starts to panic about possibly being pregnant. The two girls then travel to the nearest Planned Parenthood for a Plan B pill.

Similar to Booksmart, Plan B puts Lupe and Sunny in one ridiculous situation after another. It’s a hilarious film that’s also heartwarming at times because of the friendship between Lupe and Sunny. It’s also not afraid to discuss sex and how that journey can be a wild ride from start to the morning after.

Beaches (1988)

Beaches is a Garry Marshall movie that stars Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. C.C (Bette Midler) and Hilary (Barbara Hershey) meet as children on the beach. They form an instant bond and promise to keep in touch. They keep this promise and become lifelong friends.

Beaches is about how best friends can become platonic soulmates. C.C and Hilary’s friendship is what gives them hope and strength through their many trials and tribulations. In 2017, Lifetime made a remake of Beaches starring Idina Menzel and Nia Long.

Nine To Five (1980)

Nine to Five is a comedy that stars Lily Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Jane Fonda. They play three women who are tired of their no-good boss Frank (Dabney Coleman). They first fantasize about making him pay for his misdeeds, but then actually make it happen.

This movie offers a comedic look at gender inequality in the workforce. It shows that these women are far more capable than the men in their office, especially their boss. Together they’re unstoppable.

Waiting To Exhale (1995)

Waiting to Exhale tells the story of four women as they search for love. Forest Whitaker made his directorial debut with this film, and it highlights some of the struggles that women face because of men. They’re able to overcome these obstacles because of their bonds with each other. Waiting to Exhale stars Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, Lela Rochon, and Loretta Devine.

Though the romantic drama takes up most of the screen-time, the few scenes with the women together really emphasize the importance of these bonds.

Pitch Perfect (2012)

Pitch Perfect is a trilogy that follows the world of competitive a cappella music. The first film follows college freshman Becca (Anna Kendrick) as she joins the recently disgraced a cappella group The Barden Bellas.

The bond of The Bellas is really what helped sell this movie, so it’ll be interesting to see how the spin-off without them works. Hopefully, it keeps some of the girl power and female bonds that make the franchise such a must-watch film series.

There are a lot of great female friendship movies, and this list only contains some of the best movies about female friendship that are streaming. A few other great female friendship movies are Mean Girls, The Joy Luck Club, Ghostbusters (2016), Miss You Already, Bridesmaids, and Booksmart. Sarah Hyland was a familiar face on television for more than a decade thanks to her role as Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, but spent some time away from television after ending the long-running comedy in 2020. Now, Hyland is coming back to TV, and she’s heading to streaming on Peacock with a series regular role on the upcoming Pitch Perfect show. 

Pitch Perfect has officially landed Sarah Hyland (who debuted some short hair back in late 2021) for the TV version of the hit film franchise, which was previously announced to star familiar faces Adam Devine and Flula Borg reprising their roles of Bumper Allen and Piëter Krämer from the movies. The show picks up several years after Bumper’s last appearance in the movies. He moves to Germany after one of his songs hits big in Berlin thanks to an a capella TikTok video going viral, and that will bring him into contact with Hyland’s character. 

Bumper’s goal? To revive his music career. Hyland plays Heidi, a cheerful American who works as Bumper and Piëter’s assistant, and who is a bit odd. She has a dream of becoming a singer and songwriter herself, and performs original songs in a Berlin cabaret when she’s not working with her bosses. There aren’t too many details about Heidi or what her dynamic with her bosses will be like, but it seems safe to say that viewers will get to see Hyland singing her best! Piëter will be in the mix as a music manager who has exactly one client: Bumper.

While Pitch Perfect did play a lot for laughs – particularly with Bumper – the films were always packed full of great singing, so it stands to reason that the actress best known for playing Haley Dunphy will get to show off an impressive singing voice as well. In a fun twist, it will also be Sarah Hyland’s TV reunion with Adam Devine, who played Haley’s love interest Andy on the series, although Haley ultimately ended up with somebody else. Bumper is definitely no Andy, and Heidi sounds very different from Haley, but Modern Family fans should be able to enjoy the little reunion for Pitch Perfect. 

Pitch Perfect also cast two other new stars for the streaming series, with Jameela Jamil of The Good Place and the upcoming She-Hulk playing Gisela, a German pop star who is on her way up the ladder in showbiz. She’s Bumper’s main rival to take center stage at a German Unity Day concert, with the sticky issue that she’s Piëter’s ex-girlfriend. Anna actress Lera Above is on board to play Piëter’s sister, a.k.a. DJ Das Boot, who is a music producer and DJ in Berlin. 

There are no details just yet about when Pitch Perfect will come to Peacock as a TV series, but production is expected to begin soon in Berlin. Although the Pitch Perfect films aren’t available on any major streaming platform currently, you can see Sarah Hyland in action in all eleven seasons of Modern Family streaming on Hulu now with a Hulu subscription. Sharing the photos gave fans all the feels when it came to the bond between Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Being seen as the scrappy outsiders in the first film, their friendship seemed like a foregone conclusion. Kendrick and Wilson seemed to enjoy each other company in the black-and-white photos. The two co-stars captured the same energy as the throwback moment. So the first film laid the bedrock for a decade-long friendship that is still enduring.

After a decade of friendship, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson have changed over the years. Wilson is no longer “Fat Amy” even suggesting a new name for her beloved character. If you've been awaiting aca-mazing news on the Pitch Perfect front since the third film in the franchise released in 2017, well, today just might be your lucky day. While it doesn't look like there are plans for Pitch Perfect 4 on the horizon, that doesn't mean that the a cappella shenanigans of the students (and alums) of Barden University are completely over, as it's been announced that the movie is set to become a streaming TV series, and will star one of the film's leads: Adam Devine.

Today, Peacock announced that it had given a straight to series order to a Pitch Perfect show, and that it will have Adam Devine as one its stars. Devine portrayed vocal villain (and leader of the Barden Bellas' rival a cappella group, the Treblemakers) Bumper Allen in the first two films, and is returning to reprise his role as the egotistical songster in the show. Those who tune in will follow Bumper as he moves to Germany in order to attempt to revive his music career after one of his songs becomes a big hit in Berlin, several years after his time at Barden.

Even better than the news of Adam Devine returning to the franchise for the new series, fans can also be assured that the material will be handled in a way that pays respect to the movies, because several of the behind the scenes players will be involved in the show, as well. Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions will be executive producing, along with Paul Brooks and Scott Neimeyer from Gold Circle Films, and Megan Amram, with star Adam Devine also executive producing.

Those who love the films will know that Banks appeared in all three of the Pitch Perfect movies, along with directing the second one, which led to the movie hitting the history books for having the highest opening weekend for a musical, the best opening for a first-time feature film director, and the second-largest opening for a female director, when it debuted in 2015. Brownstone and Gold Circle were behind production on the entire film series.

Luckily, Pitch Perfect is being billed as a show that will add to the many memorable musical moments given to us by the movies, as the statement released by Peacock notes that it will provide "more earworm classics for super fans to enjoy." Plus with the focus on Devine's character in this spinoff, it's been said that we can look forward to him "bringing fans the quirky, laugh-out-loud sensibility they loved in the film franchise."

While this will be a new type of take on Pitch Perfect, it definitely sounds like a plan is in place to make sure that fans are going to find the same enjoyment in the series as they did in the films. And, even though there don't seem to be firm intentions right now to have anyone else from the movies show up, there's always a possibility.

We don't know when Pitch Perfect will arrive on Peacock yet or how many episodes it will have, but there will probably be more details coming over the next several months.

In 2012, the a cappella music styling got a major spotlight in the comedy Pitch Perfect, which followed an all-girl a cappella group competing against another group to win their college’s Nationals competition. The main cast included Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, and anyone remotely familiar with these actresses’ careers knows this movie gave them a major boost. Nearly a decade later, Kendrick and Wilson reunited with three other ladies from the cast of the Pitch Perfect movies to commemorate the time most of them first met one another.

Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick got together with Brittany Snow, Chrissie Fit and Shelley Regner, who were among the other important members of the Barden Bellas in the Pitch Perfect film series. Wilson shared a picture of their reunion on her Instagram page, aptly describing the moment as “Bellas be ballin’.” Take a look!

In case it’s been a while since you’ve seen Pitch Perfect and need a refresher on who played who, Anna Kendrick starred as Beca, the freshman who initially declined joining the Barden Bellas, but ended up auditioning after getting some encouragement from Brittany Snow’s Chloe, who co-led the group with Anna Camp’s Aubrey Posen. Rebel Wilson played one of the movie’s more comedic character, Tasmanian native “Fat Amy” Hobart, while Shelley Regner played beatboxer Ashely Jones. The odd woman out in this quintet is Chrissie Fit, who didn’t appear in the first Pitch Perfect movie, but was brought aboard as “Flo” Fuentes for Pitch Perfect 2.

The first Pitch Perfect movie’s other notable cast members included Skylar Astin, Adam Devine and Ben Platt, who played members of the Barden Bellas’ rival group, the all-male Treblemakers, while outside of these two a cappella teams, John Michael Higgins, Elizabeth Banks, John Benjamin Hickey and Freddie Stroma played supporting roles. Behind the scenes, Dawson’s Creek’s Jason Moore directed Pitch Perfect as his film debut, and 30 Rock’s Kay Cannon penned the script.

Along with Pitch Perfect itself being met with a lot of positive critical reception and making over $115 million worldwide off a reported $17 million budget, the movie’s soundtrack was a smash hit, with three of the songs (“Cups,” “Bella Finals” and “Riff Off” charting on the Billboard Top 100). With so much success, it’s no wonder that Universal Pictures greenlit a sequel, with Pitch Perfect 2 coming out in 2015, followed by Pitch Perfect 3 in 2017. While the sequels didn’t enjoy as much praise as the musical comedy that started it all, the second movie was the most financially successful of the trilogy, pulling in $287.5 million across the globe.

While the Pitch Perfect saga is now over (though a potential Pitch Perfect 4 has been discussed), you won’t have any trouble finding projects featuring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Kendrick’s credits from the last several years include movies like A Simple Favor, Noelle and Trolls World Tour, as well as starring in the HBO Max series Love Life, which she also executive produces. Wilson’s recent film appearances include Isn’t It Romantic, Jojo Rabbit and Cats.

It’s been several years since the last Pitch Perfect film graced the theaters, and the cast has worked in other projects, everything from scripted television to reality TV show judging and releasing full albums. Let’s explore what Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and the rest of the Pitch Perfect cast has been up to since the last film, and their upcoming projects.

Anna Kendrick (Beca)

Anna Kendrick played Beca in all three Pitch Perfect films. She’s a bit of a rebel at first and doesn’t take the Barden Bellas that seriously, but she bonds with the women and finds her voice within the group. In May 2021, Kendrick joined the cast of Rodney & Sheryl, a movie about a woman who appeared on a TV dating show and chose a serial killer as her date. In August 2019, Anna Kendrick joined the cast of the crime thriller Unsound. Unsound tells the story of a state trooper who faces the challenge of irreversible hearing loss while investigating the prison escape of a gang member.

In 2021, Kendrick will make an appearance in season 2 of Love Life. She was the lead of season 1 of this HBO Max series. Also in 2021, Kendrick was part of the cast of Netflix’s Stowaway. In 2020, she returned to the world of Trolls for Trolls World Tour, and Kendrick had a lead role in the Quibi series Dummy.

Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy)

In Pitch Perfect, Rebel Wilson played Fat Amy, a young woman not afraid to be her unapologetic self, which usually led to comedic gold. As of June 2021, Wilson is currently filming Senior Year, a movie about a cheerleader who wakes from a coma 20-years later and goes back to high school to regain her queen-bee status. Rebel Wilson plays the lead character. She also stars in the upcoming film The Almond and the Seahorse. It’s a drama based on the stage play of the same name, and follows people who are suffering from traumatic brain injuries and their families.

2019 was a busy year for Wilson, as she starred in Isn’t It Romantic.The film reunited her with Pitch Perfect co-star Adam DeVine. She also starred opposite Anne Hathaway in The Hustle and had a role in the infamous Cats. Also in 2019, Wilson had a supporting role in the Oscar-winning film Jojo Rabbit.

Brittany Snow (Chloe)

Brittany Snow played the simple but sweet Chloe in all three Pitch Perfect films. She was one of the original Bellas who worked to recruit Beca and the others. Brittany Snow will appear alongside Jenna Ortega, Kid Cudi, and Mia Goth in the upcoming A24 horror-thriller X. Details about the film are mainly being kept a secret, but the Hollywood Reporter mentioned the plot surrounding the making of an adult film. Brittany Snow is set to star opposite Luke Bracey in the upcoming film Big Nickel.

In 2017, Snow signed on for the film Stripped with Charlie Cox. As of June 2021, the film, according to IMDB, is still in the pre-production stage. From 2019 to 2020, Snow was one of the co-leads of the short-lived series Almost Family. It followed women who discover that they are sisters because their father was a sperm donor to many children. Also in 2020, Snow co-starred in the romantic comedy, Hooking Up, with Sam Richardson.

Anna Camp (Aubrey)

Anna Camp played Aubrey, the disgraced leader of the Bellas who must recruit new women in order to try to regain the group’s former glory. In June 2021, Camp starred in a short film called Graceland that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival. It followed a Southern mother who must learn to understand her daughter after she claims to be the reincarnated spirit of the king of rock and roll. Camp will star in the upcoming Western Murder At Emigrant Gulch.

In 2020, Anna Camp appeared in two popular Netflix films: The Lovebirds and Desperados. From 2019 to 2020, she had the lead role of Ginny in the short-lived NBC show Perfect Harmony. She also appeared in episodes of Unwanted and Creepshow.

Skylar Astin (Jesse)

Skylar Astin played Jesse in the first two Pitch Perfect movies. He’s part of the all-male rival acapella group The Treblemakers. He was also Beca’s main love interest in the first two films. Astin played lead character Max on the recently canceled Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist from 2020 to 2021. He also lends his voice to TrollsTopia as Branch.

In 2020, Astin appeared in the films Ghosts of War and Secret Society of Second-Born Royals. From 2018 to 2019, he took over the role of Greg Serrano (who was previously played by Santino Fontana) on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. In 2019, Astin played the Baker in the Hollywood Bowl production of Into the Woods.

Adam DeVine (Bumper)

Bumper was one of the leading members of The Treblemakers. He eventually softened up his antics a bit in Pitch Perfect 2, and fell for Amy. Adam DeVine lends his voice to the Green Eggs and Ham series as Sam-I-Am. He also voices Poltergeist Pat in Vampirina. Adam DeVine is also one of the lead characters of The Righteous Gemstones. Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.

In 2020, Adam Devine appeared in the Disney Original movie Magic Camp. As of 2021, he’s set to appear in the animated film Extinct. DeVine has also appeared in the movies Jexi, Isn’t It Romantic, Game Over, Man!, The Package, When We First Met, and the series Modern Family.

Ester Dean (Cynthia Rose)

Ester Dean played tough and talented Cynthia Rose in the Pitch Perfect franchise. Dean joined her Pitch Perfect co-star Anna Kendrick in Trolls World Tour. She voiced Legsly. Since 2019, Ester Dean has held judging duties on the reality singing series Songland. As of June 2021, it has yet to be canceled or renewed for a third season.

Dean will be a judge on the upcoming reality series Clash of the Cover Bands. She was a respected songwriter and producer before starring in Pitch Perfect, since the films, she has written songs like “Thinkin Bout You” for Ciara and “Solo Quiero” for Leona Lewis, Cali Y El Dandee, and Juan Magan.

Hana Mae Lee (Lily)

Hana Mae Lee’s character Lily was best known for her whispering and the creepy comments she made while whispering. Lily became one of the scene stealers of the Pitch Perfect films. Lee will appear in the upcoming horror film Abruptio. The cast of Abruptio includes James Marsters, Jordan Peele, Robert Englund, and Sid Haig. The film has been in production since 2015 but is rumored to be released in 2021. Lee will also appear in the upcoming film, Habits, starring Paris Jackson and Bella Thorne.

In 2017, Lee played Sonya in The Babysitter. She reprised her role in the 2020 sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Hana Mae Lee has also appeared in the series Those Who Can’t, Patriot, and Perpetual Grace, LTD.

Ben Platt (Benji)

Ben Platt played Benji in the first two Pitch Perfect movies. He was Jesse’s roommate, a bit of a magic nerd, and also an aspiring member of The Treblemakers (at least in the first film). Ben Platt will play Evan Hansen in the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie. The film is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, where Platt starred in the first production of the show. It’s set to debut in theaters on September 24, 2021. It’s one of the highly anticipated 2021 movies. Platt will star opposite Lola Kirke and Yvette Nicole Brown in Broken Diamond.

In a little less than 20 years from now, Platt will appear alongside real-life best friend Beanie Feldstein and Blake Jenner in Merrily We Roll Along. As of March 2021, he was in talks to star opposite Allison Janney and Annie Murphy in the film adaptation of The People We Hate At Weddings.

Platt is the lead character on Ryan Murphy’s dramedy The Politician. As of June 2021, The Politician has yet to be renewed or canceled. In 2020, Platt appeared on the reality series Songland and voiced a character on The Simpsons. Also in 2019, Platt released his first studio album, Sing to Me Instead.

Hailee Steinfeld (Emily)

Hailee Steinfeld first entered the world of Pitch Perfect in Pitch Perfect 2. She was a freshman recruit and a legacy Bella. As of 2021, Steinfeld plays Emily Dickinson in the Apple TV+ original series Dickinson. In late 2021, she will make her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye. In 2022, Steinfeld will reprise her voice role as Gwen Stacy in the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

In 2020, Steinfeld released an EP called Half Written Story. It contains five tracks, including “Wrong Direction,” and “I Love You’s.” In 2019, she appeared in the latest Charlie’s Angels movie and Between Two Ferns: The Movie.

Elizabeth Banks (Gail)

Elizabeth Banks played Gail in the Pitch Perfect movies. Gail is one of the announcers for the acapella competitions. Banks also directed Pitch Perfect 2. In 2019, she once again sat in the director's chair for Charlie’s Angels. She is also planning to direct the Red Queen series for Peacock, and she will have a major supporting role in the show if it’s picked up. Banks will star alongside Sigourney Weaver and Kate Mara in the upcoming drama Call Jane.

In 2019, Banks appeared in the horror film Brightburn. In 2020, she played Jill Ruckelshaus in Mrs. America. As of June 2021, Banks also hosts the game show Press Your Luck on ABC.

For many kids growing up in the 2010s, the Pitch Perfect film series made a last impression on their lives. A huge part of the film’s legacy was introducing a capella music to the masses. Since music was a huge part of the films, it made sense for the franchise to spawn a hit song of its own: Anna Kendrick’s “Cups (When I’m Gone).” The song took over the airwaves, leading to some overzealousness from its young audience. For this, Kendrick issued a hilarious apology to a camp counselor over social media.

Pitch Perfect is one of the most beloved franchises of the last decade. The original film was a sleeper that Anna Kendrick took from being a supporting vampire to a Hollywood star. While the film ruled the box office, Kendrick was ruling the music charts with “Cups (When I’m Gone).” A moment from the movie turned into a cultural phenomenon as people imitated the scene and sang along to the catchy tune.

But not everyone was on the “Cups” bandwagon. Writer and podcast host Ellory Smith revealed on Twitter that the song led to a ban on cups while working as a camp counselor. Seeing Smith’s tweet, Anna Kendrick made an earnest, yet funny apology on Twitter, which you can read below:

But “Cups” was everywhere after Pitch Perfect became a runaway hit. It was in commercials, television shows, social media, radio, etc. But that’s just how popular that song was with any and everybody replicating Kendrick’s scene on social media. Of course, young campers would be doing the full routine at camp – they were the target audience. Anyway, as the adage goes, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”

The success of Pitch Perfect and “Cups (When I'm Gone)” made Anna Kendrick both a superstar and a target. Kendrick’s response to Smith has been one of the few times she’s been on Twitter since being hacked in December 2020. The hacking of her Twitter led to some profane and racist posts being sent out on the account though she was eventually able to regain access. The actress even made a hilarious return while shouting out Kid Mero for notifying her of the hacking.

Outside of her Twitter dealings, Anna Kendrick has an impressive 2021 lined up with the thriller Stowaway and Season 2 of Love Life on the horizon. As talented as she is, Kendrick has managed to remain humble even in the most awkward situations. Hopefully the actress will come out of Twitter hiding more often to give more hilarious responses.

Quarantine has taken away plenty of normal everyday experiences, from a typical day at work to walking through the halls of school. But one thing I will never forgive it for is that it took away one of my last years of college, sadly. However, that doesn’t mean that all is lost, as there is this beautiful invention of film that has filled my sadness – the college movie.

That’s right, I’m talking about movies like Old School, Legally Blonde, Pitch Perfect, and much more. These are the films that got me through those nights in my apartment, slaving away to get my degree, as I could live vicariously through them without feeling like I was missing out on the real experience.

These are the best college movies for you to turn to in your time of need, and will surely get you through much of this tough period.

Old School (Pluto TV)

Sometimes, people just want to relive their college years, and that’s exactly the premise of this famous college movie. Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, and Luke Wilson star in Old School, with their characters aiming to relive their glory days as depressed 30-year-olds who start their own fraternity. And, of course, hilarities ensue.

One of the reasons I love this movie so much is that it doesn’t even just relate to older people who are trying to remember those times in college. It feels like even college-aged students can enjoy this at home, because they want to get back to campus. Occasionally, it’s nice to get lost in those memories, but Old School takes that to a whole different level, and that’s what makes this film such fun.

Neighbors (Hulu)

One of my personal favorite college films, Neighbors really amps up the college experience, but makes it hilarious. A couple who is just trying to raise their new baby in a nice neighborhood is suddenly interrupted when a fraternity decides to move in next door. Now, it’s a war for the neighborhood, and who will ultimately win, whether it will become a new college party hot spot, or remain a nice place for them to raise their daughter.

Seth Rogen is hysterical in this movie, as is Zac Efron, who brings a surprising amount of heart to his otherwise bro-ish character. Their co-stars, including big names like Rose Byrne, Lisa Kudrow, and Dave Franco make this movie so much fun to watch. Plus, it’s always nice to see Zac Efron shirtless – and see Seth Rogen compare his dad-bod to his, am I right?

Accepted (Amazon Prime)

Another college comedy, starring Justin Long and Jonah Hill, Accepted tells the tale of a group of high schoolers who create their own fake college when they are denied acceptance to every college they applied to. But, creating a college isn’t necessarily easy, so they start to have some issues with that along the way.

A big part of why this movie is worth the watch is that it really validates the feelings of current college students. While I don’t necessarily agree with the way they did things, the students did take their lives into their own hands when no one else would accept them. They decided to embrace who they were and not let society change them, which really speaks volumes. That, and it’s hysterical to see such a simple concept be done by a bunch of high schoolers who could possibly send people to jail.

Legally Blonde (Hulu)

I can’t have a college list and not include Legally Blonde. This movie is arguably what made Reese Witherspoon a household name. The plot follows a rich sorority girl who was just broken up with by her boyfriend because she didn’t seem to fit the bill of the standard "smart" woman in his family. So, she decides that enough is enough and to get into Harvard Law School to prove to him that she is smart. Guess what? She does.

Not only is Witherspoon perfection in this movie, the story itself really shows what someone is capable of if they just persevere through the trials of life. She is torn down by every single person she meets at Harvard, but ends up proving them all wrong in the end. Also, let me just say that the ending is the best part, but of course, I won’t spoil it. You just need to watch for yourself.

Pitch Perfect 1 and 2 (Hulu)

These movies single-handedly brought back a-cappella to pop culture. Don’t @ me! Pitch Perfect tells the story of Becca, a freshman who is just trying to fit in to show her parents that she’s not a social outcast, and ends up joining the Barden Bellas, the all-female a-cappella campus group. From there, it’s a musical-themed adventure of friendship, love, and of course, singing.

The second movie is still just as great as the first, if not a bit broad with the amount of groups they add to the plot. The music is also fantastic, and Anna Kendrick really rocks it in this role and shows off her singing chops on the big screen. Of course, you can’t forget the masterpiece that is Fat Amy, either.

The Social Network (Netflix)

While it’s not deemed a “college movie,” The Social Network is still an excellent piece of cinema that everyone should watch, especially if you are into social media and the birth of Facebook. The Social Network tells the story of how Facebook was created, starting out with a young Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) creating a college site to rate women on campus, and from there, a beautiful yet dangerous domino effect occurs.

It’s not a shock that Facebook actually began as a college website, so seeing its growth happen so quickly is really interesting, especially for those who might have been around when it first started. Along with Eisenberg, the cast is fantastic, with Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake shining in their roles. It’s definitely worth the watch.

Animal House (Hulu)

I mean, obviously, right?

This list is nothing without absolutely the most iconic college film of all time: Animal House. Produced by Matty Simmons of National Lampoon fame, it's the story of a fraternity that takes the phrase “fight the power” to a whole new meaning by taking on their dean and challenging his authority. And, hijinks occur and people get in trouble. A bunch of huge SNL stars signed on for this, so it was a movie that was destined to be great.
