One of TV’s busiest producers at any given time, Ryan Murphy finally gave American Horror Story fans more reasons to look forward to the upcoming Season 13, which will hopefully wrap in time to debut on the 2026 TV schedule. Initially through a Jessica Lange-infused first look, and then through the confirmation that the anthology’s newest chapter will return to the bewitching city of New Orleans for a proper Coven sequel that's bringing all kinds of former stars back.

Gloriously, Murphy followed that up with daily character reveals, first with the returning Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode, and then with a clip earlier today of Emma Roberts back in b---h mode as the irrepressible Madison Montgomery. Check out the vid, which is set within the hallowed halls of Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, which Murphy confirmed was rebuilt in NOLA to film the season.

Truth be told, Madison remains one of my least favorite AHS characters, but entirely for the reasons why so many other fans love her. So it's more of a love to hate kind of thing than pure disinterest.

But Coven did feature one of my favorite American Horror Story characters, and it's one whose return status is currently unclear, as the actress is not among the cast members that has been announced for Season 13. Not that it's stopping fans from calling for her to be included.

I Stand With Fans Who Want Lily Rabe's Misty Day Back For Season 13

One of the most tragic characters conceived for this anthology series, Misty Day was a witch who was legitimately burned at the stake, Salem style, for bringing an animal back to life. She remains a part of the season by bringing certain characters back form the afterlife, but just when it seemed like she'd be made whole again, Misty surprisingly remained stuck in hell at the end of Coven’s season.

Thankfully, that wasn't the last fans saw of her. Misty finally did make a canonically legitimate return to the land of the living after Apocalypse’s time-traveling shenanigans reversed many characters’ deaths by killing off the Antichrist Michael. So for all intents and purposes, Misty is still presumably capable of coming back. (I mean, she might not want to for obvious "avoiding being burned to death" reasons.)

Admist the myriad positive comments calling Paulson and Roberts' characters "Mother," and people going relatively gaga in general, some fans are calling for other characters to return beyond the ones we've seen so far, and I'm putting all my support behind everyone asking for Misty to grace us with her presence again.

While I'm admittedly single-minded in my hopes for Lily Rabe to tap into her inner Steve Nicks again, I can't exactly deny those above and elsewhere also calling for Frances Conroy's Myrtle Snow to also return to Miss Robicheaux's. Not to mention those hoping to see Jamie Brewer's Nan again after she also popped back up in Apocalypse.

As far as new cast members go, the ever-wonderful John Waters is joining this universe for an as yet undisclosed role, while pop queen movie star Ariana Grande is also in the mix, and has been dying to talk about it. Maybe Grande will be playing the new musical witch that Misty connects with. I may take offense of this season ends up being a big Wicked crossover, though.

Never before in its going-on-13-year run has American Horror Story gone a full two years between new seasons, but April 24 marks the second anniversary of Delicate’s finale (which probably doesn’t justify party favors), and there’s no guarantee that the upcoming horror series’ next season will actually debut on the 2026 TV schedule. But praise be to the Minotaur, as Ryan Murphy and FX have finally delivered something tangible for Season 13. Or should I say, something Lange-ible.

Yeah, I’ll admit that was a rougher pun than I’d expected, but it’s all for the greater good of seeing Jessica Lange back in the mix for the very first look at the new season. Regardless of how new it may be, fans will no doubt instantly recognize the familiar setting and character.

Oh hell to the yeah to the Satan. Or whatever dark entities we believe are responsible for the many atrocities that went down inside that very establishment. The location used for Murder House will forever be recognizable for its windows, as well as for all the haunted s--t that's gone down in there over the years. And the commenters are all over that connection as well. Check out some of the most ecstatic responses, with even Kyle Richards sharing a "Yesss" comment.

I want to bottle all of this high-energy happiness and save some of it for later. But for now let's refresh ourselves on where we last saw Lange's beloved character Constance Langdon.

AHS: Apocalypse Revealed And Retconned Constance's Death

While it's unclear at the moment whether or not Jessica Lange will be portraying any of her other American Horror Story characters, the image above makes it clear that Constance is back, so we'll keep the focus on her for now.

In the OG season of Murder House, we learned that Constance was the mother of Evan Peters' Tate and the attic-bound Bartholomew, and the season ended with her as the grandmotherly guardian of Michael, the antichrist baby that Vivien Harmon died giving birth to (after being impregnated by Tate's ghost). Just your average cable drama plot is all.

Seven seasons later, Apocalypse gave us the follow-up story that said grandchild (Michael Langdon) grew up to indeed be the destroyer of worlds, as portrayed by Cody Fern. A flashback showed that an Constance, overwhelmed by Michael's horrific and corpse-amassing actions, committed suicide within Murder House to spend enternity with her children.

Only that didn't quite happen, as Billie Lourd's Mallory used her witchy time magic to go back to 2015 to arrange Michael's death via vehicle before he attained full strength. Though he begged Constance to take him into the house so that his spirit could live on, she refused, and went on to survive beyond the point when her suicide would have happened.

Considering Season 13 shows her still inside that haunted home, one can assume she's still keen on staying near her ghostly children. But what has she been up to since Michael's death in 2015, and why would this new season have the need to return to Murder House?

It's Time To Break Out My Infantata Wishes Again

At least once per each American Horror Story season, there's a moment where I allow my brain to go off half-cocked with the notion that Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk could possibly bring back one of this anthology's most haunting creations: the Infantata! Or, if you're into non-monstrous monikers, Thaddeus Montgomery!

As we all hopefully know, Thaddeus was child of Nora and Charles Montgomery who was kidnapped and murdered (a la the Lindbergh baby) and then sent back to his parents in pieces. Charles brought those pieces back together and injected new life into it, though the being that returned was not their loving little baby, and was more bloodthirsty than all that.

Despite only appearing for a handful of quick flashes in Season 1, the Infantata quickly became a fan-favorite monster within this world, all the more so due to his non-ghostly-but-still-undead nature, mixed with his bloodthirst. Understandably, the character's return has been limited, as original portrayer Ben Woolf passed away in 2015.

However, the ghoulish li'l heathen returned in fine form for American Horror Stories' two-part Rubber(wo)Man episode, where he and the home's other threats kill off the teens bullying Scarlett. A fun return, for sure, but certainly not enough.

Will American Horror Story Season 13 be the one to give the Infantata a bigger storyline? Is it ridiculous to even say those words in that order? Probably so, but I'm still here for it, especially with John Waters in the cast. I've definitely theory-wished for Infantata to return in the past, so I guess I won't be too devastated if it doesn't pan out.

Speaking of the larger cast, Season 13 also marks Sarah Paulson’s return following her justifiable break. Beyond her, Waters and Lange, the cast also includes Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman, with Ariana Grande as the second new addition in the bunch. The royal romance and bitter divorce between Princess Diana and Prince Charles (now, King Charles III) is a saga known around the world, and one that has been told countless times. But did you know that at one point, Ryan Murphy was going to turn the story into a season of his Feud anthology series? I, for one, didn’t know until recently, when I was watching Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, which just wrapped up on the 2026 TV schedule.

Well, it turns out Murphy came very close to tackling the drama a couple of years before The Crown turned its attention to one of the biggest stories of the late-20th century. Though those plans never materialized, I think the prolific TV executive producer should make a second attempt at telling the story again, this time as another installment in his latest, much-talked-about FX series.

What Was Ryan Murphy’s First Attempt To Tell Diana’s Story, And What Happened?

Nearly a decade ago, back in February 2017, Deadline reported that Ryan Murphy was planning for the second season of his Feud anthology to put its spotlight on the fairy tale love story of Princess Diana and Prince Charles and the bitter divorce that rocked the monarchy, a nation, and the world several decades earlier. The series, which would have begun with the Prince and Princess of Wales filing for divorce and ended with Diana’s shocking and tragic death in August 1997, was getting a lot of attention and momentum back then. However, much like the romance it aimed to chronicle, the season fell apart.

In August 2018, The Hollywood Reporter published a story where FX CEO John Landgraf said, “it’s not active right now,” signaling the project was no longer happening. At the time, Rosamund Pike and Matthew Goode were rumored to be taking on Diana and Charles, respectively, but the material wasn’t there, as Landgraf told THR.

The Diana and Charles season never recovered from there, and the Feud franchise sat on ice for several years before returning with Capote vs. The Swans, an exploration of Truman Capote’s falling out with a group of socialites in the 1960s.

The ‘Love Story’ Setup Is The Perfect Way To Chronicle The Royal Romance And Falling Out

With Ryan Murphy returning to the world of celebrity romances gone awry, on top of his ongoing Monster series streaming with a Netflix subscription, now seems like a perfect time for him to revisit the story and give the project a second chance at life. Well, at least as a part of the Love Story franchise. I mean, even though The Crown went into great detail (and spent parts of three seasons recounting the iconic love affair), using the model established by Love Story with one season and one season only, it could be a fulfilling and engaging spectacle to take in.

Much like American Crime Story, which has told everything from the O.J. Simpson trial to the murder of Giavanni Versace to the Bill Clinton Sex Scandal, the first season of Love Story spent fewer than 10 episodes telling the full, albeit abridged, saga of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s romance and eventual deaths.

By having eight hours to tell Diana and Charles’ story, it would give us a more streamlined story that is also long enough not to feel like the major points are skipped. You get the courtship, the wedding, the alleged infidelities, the divorce, and Diana’s tragic death.

The First Season Of Love Story Touched On The Princess Of Wales’ Death In An Impactful Way

I am not saying that I think each season of Love Story should be interconnected or anything like that, but the first season of the series already touched on the death of Princess Diana in a touching and meaningful way.

In the penultimate episode, as JFK Jr. and Carolyn are having a heated argument about the latter’s reluctance to leave their Soho loft due to constantly being hounded by paparazzi invading her privacy, the discussion is interrupted by a phone call to turn on the news. Moments later, the couple watches in horror as scenes from the tragic accident unfold before them. This scene, which feels like it was included to represent what Carolyn was going through at the time, since both she and Diana were targets of the press, also leads to one of the best sequences of the entire season.

JFK Jr. running through the streets of NYC and Carolyn watching in anguish as she learns a woman in a similar situation, as well as someone she looks up to, has died, all set to Radiohead’s “Exit Music (for a Film)” is nothing short of masterful. It not only gave us another great music moment from the stellar Love Story soundtrack but also a brilliant moment that ties the show’s themes together.

It’s A Delicate Topic, But It Could Work With Some Care

Undoubtedly, a season of Love Story about Princess Diana, her ill-fated relationship with Prince Charles, and her tragic death would be a very delicate topic that would have to be handled with the utmost care. That said, the dynamic surrounding JFK Jr., Carolyn Bessette, and the Kennedy family’s place in American history/society was handled decently, for the most part. Sure, the Daryl Hannah situation in the first half of the season wasn’t handled all too well (the actress ended up penning a scathing op-ed about her portrayal), but maybe that could be a lesson for future installments.

This could be a chance to get the story right and pay homage to one of the most transformative figures of the 20th century while also giving audiences engaging, must-see TV. With a good balance of reality and creative license, this could be done really well and with a great deal of respect.

It still hasn’t been announced if FX is going to come out with more seasons of Love Story, but I’ll be shocked if they don’t. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, the first season is streaming in its entirety with a Hulu subscription.

We always talk about movies with fantastic soundtracks, but TV shows rarely garner the same amount of attention or love, which is a shame. For the past few years, Yellowjackets has featured one of the best soundtracks on the small screen with a great and diverse collection of iconic ‘90s tracks. While it’s long reigned supreme, there’s a new show on the 2026 TV schedule that I think is the new king: Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.

This new Ryan Murphy anthology series, which is getting surprisingly great reviews from critics, is something I’ve been spending a lot of time with lately. Though I was initially drawn to one of the most iconic and tragic love stories of the ‘90s, it’s the soundtrack that has me excited for each new episode. Let me explain…

Track For Track, The Love Story Soundtrack Is In A League Of Its Own

I love me a good needle drop, and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette doesn’t disappoint in this regard. When I first pressed play last month, I jumped in expecting to lose an hour a week to a show that’s the perfect blend of prestige and trash TV, but instead I was taken on a nostalgic trip back to the ‘90s with one banger after another. I mean, the pilot episode features everything from Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me” to Beastie Boys’ “So What’Cha Want?” to Peter Gabriel’s “Blood of Eden,” and that’s just in the first hour.

FX has put out a playlist featuring every song used in Love Story that is broken down by episode (this is good for anyone who hasn’t watched yet), and it’s one of those “all killer, no filler” type of affairs. You have dream pop classics like “Heaven or Las Vegas” by Cocteau Twins and “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star, and so many others. Since starting the series, I’ve found myself jamming the show’s playlist on Spotify, and it’s taking me back to my childhood, when my cousin introduced me to a lot of this music.

It’s Not Just The Songs, But How They’re Used

It would be one thing if the Love Story soundtrack just had great tracks playing in a vacuum. However, what really makes these tracks so great is how they are used in relation to the events in the story.

The second episode opens with a montage of JFK Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly) attempting to win Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) over by sending bouquets of roses to her office at Calvin Klein, set to En Vogue’s “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) that’s just so perfect. Later on, there’s an equally great scene set to Björk’s “Human Behavior” that I haven’t been able to get over since. Don’t even get me started with the Mazzy Star needle drop in the third episode.

I’m not saying that this show wouldn’t be great without its expertly crafted soundtrack, but the song choices in the first few episodes have definitely heightened the experience.

Don’t get me wrong, the Yellowjackets soundtrack has some of my all-time favorite tracks (this includes several of Radiohead’s best songs), but the musical choices in Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette have me dying to watch each new episode with my Hulu subscription.

Spoilers below for most of the first season of The Beauty for anyone who hasn’t yet watched on FX or via Hulu subscription.

Sometimes the best TV just holds a mirror up to society and dramatizes the loudest reflections, and sometimes reality is already so warped that an extra bit of zhuzh is necessary to take the story over the top. Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson’s The Beauty is just such a show, bringing an already prescient and stellar comic book series (from creators Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley) fully into the billionaire-spotted wasteland we call the present, centering on a perfection-encoded STD that people are perfectly willing to doom themselves to contract.

The Beauty is certainly unlike anything else hitting the 2026 TV schedule, but it also stands apart from a lot of the other projects that Murphy has created, co-created and produced over the last 27 years, despite sharing similar genres, themes and cast members. I’m admittedly not a completist when it comes to his TV oeuvre, and more readily flock to genres that show off his darker interest,, but I feel very nearly entirely confident in saying The Beauty is his best work yet.*

That qualifying asterisk will get explained lower, but I’d rather jump right into talking about why I think this weird and hilarious body horror mystery thriller is a Murphy-tethered creative team at the top of its game. I know the first season isn’t even over yet, and that this might sound like early bell-ringing, so let me talk out some of the reasons why I think The Beauty rises above.

The Beauty Is Telling A Gripping Story That Has A Clear Beginning, Middle And Endgame Scenario

Less an issue with streaming shows than network and cable projects, but Ryan Murphy creations can often start off extremely strong before going completely off the rails in every which way. (Which has its own inherent enjoyment factor, to be sure.) Many other cases will hook audiences for the majority of a season, only to poison the well with an ill-advised ending, a la The Watcher. (Or for just continuing the madness for too long in general, cough-Nip/Tuck-cough.)

The Beauty, however, even as it jumps around from the present to the past, has never once felt as if characters or story beats were spinning out in place without a clear next step in the narrative. Even as it jumps from romance to action to grossness, even as giant twists are introduced, and even as episodes get seemingly hijacked by unfamiliar characters, the forward momentum hasn't wavered.

The Beauty's Superb Cast And Their Characters All Feel Of The Same Universe

Similar to how plotlines can veer into questionable territories when seasons go on a little too long, some of the cast members and characters that populate the dozens of Ryan Murphy creations can sometimes feel as if they're in a completely different production that does not run parallel to anyone else's arcs and performance energy. Issues like these tend to crop up in episodes where creators/showrunners aren't as heavily invested, with other writers and directors stepping in, with the shift in authority making it easier for tonal inequality.

That's somehow not the case within The Beauty, possibly because so many of the characters exist on heightened plains of self-obsession. Evan Paters' Cooper is the most "normal" person on this show, but even he feels like he stepped out of a pulpy, whiskey-soaked P.I. novel from the '40s. So even if his energy isn't ramped up to where Ashton Kutcher's is at any given point, they're still both highly performative, and thus don't feel at odds.

The Twists Aren't Too Twisty (The Clown), And The Drama Isn't Too Melodramatic

Many of the surprises embedded in The Beauty are smart and organic to the story, such as having Jordan get infected with the Beauty so early on due to a lapse in judgment, or Jeremy's arc of trying to be a better person than his life as an incel. Elsewhere, twists come from learning new information in flashbacks that changes what we know about things in the present. It's not exactly rocket science, but the American Horror Story-verse is full of batshit, out-of-nowhere twists that aren't nearly as germane.

The ongoing theme here is obviously "moderation," and that also goes for the story beats that could have very easily fallen into maudlin and melodramatic territory, such as everything involving the daughter of John Carroll Lynch's Meyer Williams and his wife Juliana, portrayed by Kelli O'Hara. I was fully ready for that story to take some horrendous turn involving their progeria-afflicted daughter Joey (Kaylee Halko). That dark turn could still come, certainly, but the fact that there was a "happy" ending to begin with is almost unheard of for a Ryan Murphy horror.

Asterisk Explained: The Reason I'm Not Fully 100% Behind The Beauty Being The Best

Okay, there are technically two reasons, but they're both minute enough to get smashed together and count as one.

First, the last two episodes of the season still haven't aired, and for all that I'm hyper-confident that they'll be just as great as the preceding nine episodes, there is absolutely the possibility that any and all of the aforementioned graces will be shat upon and returned to sender as the story spins wildly out of control. I don't think the chances are very high, but I know they exist.

Second, there's a part of me that will never be able to love another Ryan Murphy show as much as I love American Horror Story as a whole, despite not feeling as strongly about certain seasons as others. Some of my first large-scale writing for CinemaBlend was covering AHS: Murder House, and the years I wrote up those seasons will always be cherished. Of course, even that first season spread across the entire spectrum from "really good" to "dog fart soup." But that was 15 years ago, and we're all smarter and better now. And The Beauty is undeniable proof.

Throughout its twelve seasons to date, American Horror Story has become a genuine contender for TV's best revolving-door cast, including both Ryan Murphy's recurring stable as well as myriad one-off AHS actors who've come and gone. and the anthology isn't suddenly changing course for the still cloaked-in-mystery Season 13. While fans are already aware of quite a few returning faces, with Sarah Paulson back on board, someone new has been added to the lineup, and it’s an actor/filmmaker who 100% should have been involved from the very beginning.

Join me in flamboyantly applauding American Horror Story Season 13 for adding Pink Flamingos and Chucky-verse vet John Waters for what will no doubt be a delicious, devious, and duplicitous role that could presumably also be described using lots of other D-words. Waters is the reigning crown prince of camp, and he’s definitely leaned into becoming more of a horror icon as the years have gone by.

While Ryan Murphy usually likes to reveal big casting news through the show itself, usually through creepy social media videos, Waters himself was the one to let the cat out of the bag in this instance. While onstage for a spoken-word performance in Baltimore (via Baltimore Fishbowl), the Serial Mom helmer dopped this most fabulous bombshell on the crowd:

He could have finished that thought by saying, "And the world will completely end, AHS: Armageddon-style, as soon as the season is over," and I'm not sure any of those words would have truly hit home, because HUZZAH! John Waters on American Horror Story! It's like getting Halloween for Christmas!

I can only assume anyone reading this knows exactly why Waters is such a non-guilty-pleasure prize for this series, and why I've wanted him on board since Murder House. He's as arch a performer as can be, with an air of delightful menace and an unmistakable voice. Having him bring life to any Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk characters would be aces, but this "big new part" in the anthology franchise sounds downright dreamy.

If there were time enough in the day, I could easily sit back and envision the Grammy nominated performer taking on every single role within this show, from Dr. Ben Harmon to Ramona Royale to Twisty the Clown. For reals, if AI could ever be good for anything, it'd be turning John Waters into every American Horror Story character so far.

Elsewhere in his spoken-word performance, Water talked about how his on-screen roles have been heading in a somewhat similar direction for a while now, saying:

Thinking about John Waters in all of Vincent Price's roles is a whole other line of imagining outside of AHS, so that'll have to be put on the back burner for now. But no matter, since he will legitimately be popping up on FX's hit anthology when it presumably hits the 2026 TV schedule in October.

Okay so now I cannot wait to see Ariana Grande and John Waters sharing the screen, which is not a sentence I thought I'd ever say.

Could this cast possibly get any better? Well, yeah, since there are lots of other AHS vets not listed there, as well as tons of other A-tier performers also not in the mix. But is this an A+ lineup all the same? Indeed, it's simply...Divine.

Ryan Murphy has given us American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Monsters and more, and for his next trick, he plans to lighten the mood a little with Love Story … or does he? The first season of Murphy’s new romance anthology centers around John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette — their chemistry, courtship and marriage up to the day of their tragic deaths. The FX series premiered on February 12 on the 2026 TV schedule, and many critics are frankly surprised at how non-exploitative it is.

Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon are the stars of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, with the nine-episode series dramatizing their romance and how it was affected by the paparazzi and media scrutiny. Critics received all but the finale, and Belen Edwards of Mashable writes that while it’s more empathetic than salacious, Love Story definitely has its moments of horror. Edwards says:

Kelly Lawler of USA TODAY rates it 3 stars out of 4, saying the series is “almost perfect,” losing steam when it turns from thoughtful to artificial by committing to the tabloid version of some events. Indeed, some fans will see Love Story as exploitative (the Kennedy family apparently does), but for a Ryan Murphy project, Lawler says this one shows a surprising amount of restraint. The critic writes:

Hope Sloop of Decider boldly calls Love Story “the first truly captivating new show of 2026,” and despite knowing this couple’s tragic ending, the critic says she physically couldn’t pull herself away from the screen and is “banging on the doors of FX” for the finale. Kaiya Shunyata of RogerEbert says nothing in the series feels cheap. It’s less a seedy exposé of one of the most famous celebrity relationships of the 20th century and more of a study of the relationship between their public and private life. Shunyata’s review of Love Story reads:

This mystery, however, doesn’t work for Lacy Baugher Milas of AV Club, who says Love Story isn’t fun, insightful or romantic. That’s particularly disappointing because on paper, the tragic story of a couple who were basically American royalty should be a slam dunk. The critic gives it a C+, concluding:

As a comic book fanatic, I've long been primed for Ryan Murphy's adaptation of the twisted comic book series The Beauty, with cast members like Evan Peters, Rebecca Ferguson and Ashton Kutcher only helping to stoke my lofty excitement. Those hyped expectations have somehow only grown even larger now that FX has released the show's heightened and surprisingly hilarious first trailer, which puts the spotlight on Kutcher's character and the highly coveted STD that the show is named for.

That's right, the upcoming horror series The Beauty is about a sexually transmitted disease that people are clamoring to get, as it turns the afflicted gorgeous and model-esque, with the unfortunate caveat that the disease obliterates one's life expectancy, and can also turn sufferers wild and murderous just prior to their hyper-violet deaths. So ju-u-ust a touch different from your crabs and HIV.

Seen in the trailer above, Ashton Kutcher portrays the bazillionaire douchebag seemingly responsible for unleashing The Beauty onto an unsuspecting population. As if that weren't awful enough, the character goes by the name of The Corporation, which I'm pretty sure no respect-worthy person has ever called themselves. Not that he's bothered by his morally repugnant behavior or the effects that his product, so to speak, is having on users. Here's how he puts it:

While the full series could certainly prove me wrong, I can't help but think this looks like the most fun Ashton Kutcher has had with a TV role in ages, and that includes his and Mila Kunis' returns for That '90s Show.

While Kutcher is clearly the bad guy here from a viewer perspective, despite being a hero to those "suffering" from the Beauty, Evan Peters and Rebecca Ferguson are on the case as protagonist detectives Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett, respectively.

Also on board is Anthony Ramos, and I love seeing him back in a fun-loving villain role after he proved adversarial in the MCU's Ironheart. Here, he'll be portraying the similarly vaguely monikered The Assassin, and his trailer moments do indeed play up his deadly nature. Not to mention his stylish fashion choices.

As if those marquee names weren't excellent enough on their own, we can also look forward to seeing Jeremy Pope in a recurring capacity, along with guest stars such as Bella Hadid, Isabella Rossellini, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ben Platt and Jessica Alexander. Here's hoping a few other Ryan Murphy go-to stars pop up in surprising ways.

The Beauty was created for the page by writer Jeremy Haun and artist Jason A. Hurley, with the original series running for 30 issues from 2015-2019. Haun and Hurley reunited for a new comic book story arc that coincides with the FX show's arrival, with the first issue having hit shelves in October 2025.

Mila Kunis spoke in the past about her and Kutcher's kids watching inappropriate movies at a young age, so I can't imagine they'll be allowing the offspring to check out this comic adaptation until they're in college. But you can bet I'll be cemented in place when it debuts, even if I'm looking worse for the wear while doing so.

The Beauty is set to shake up the 2026 TV schedule with its body-dropping run on FX and via Hulu subscription starting on Wednesday, January 21, at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Plenty of excellent TV shows have graced the small screen over the years, and quality titles have also debuted amid the 2025 TV schedule. Of course, there are many shows that some fans may not consider all that good, even if they do have an affinity for them. To that point, a recently posted subreddit asked fans to name some of their favorite “bad” TV series. Pretty Little Liars – the polarizing teen mystery series – came up a few times along with some Ryan Murphy-produced shows, and they were far from the only shows named.

We can chalk this subreddit up to a user by the name of Frosty-Muffin6997, who classified these particular shows as programs that audiences love despite poor writing, acting, critical reception and more. If I’m being completely honest, given their reputations, I’m not too surprised that PLL and some Murphy-headed productions made their way into this roster. Also included here are a couple of other young adult drama series, a procedural or two and a superhero series that aired on Fox years ago. Take a look:

It seems fans have some strong feelings about the shows they enjoy and, of course, each is entitled to their opinion. For years, many have criticized PLL for getting too twisty and superfluous as time went on and, like the aforementioned Riverdale, someone could argue that the show ran too long. Nevertheless, the ABC Family show does still have its share of admirers, and many still keep tabs on the Pretty Little Liars cast.

On the other hand, while Ryan Murphy has received his share of acclaim for many of his shows, many of them have also received criticism. This thread alone also features comments from fans talking about the shortcomings of Glee, Nip/Tuck and 9-1-1 (a first responder show that just sent some characters to space).

And, of course, there’s the recently released All’s Fair, which has been trashed by critics. However, Hulu subscription holders have seemingly been tuning in, given the show was just renewed for a second season. Speaking of shows that are still airing, there's more to say on that front.

Fans Talk About Shows That Are Still On The Air

What’s interesting to see here is how the amount of comments on classic shows compares to the number of messages regarding series that are currently airing. In terms of the latter category, The Rookie, All’s Fair and Taylor Sheridan’s shows were far from the only ones to be called out. Reacher, Tracker and The Hunting Wives have avid fanbases, and I’m curious as to whether some might take offense to the critiques listed above. But, then again, those comments are coming from those who admit to enjoying the shows and are just offering their honest appraisals. On the whole, I really appreciate the candiness from these fans, as I myself can admit to enjoying some TV shows that aren’t exactly critical darlings. So let’s let fans enjoy Pretty Little Liars, Ryan Murphy shows and anything else without judgement.

Ryan Murphy shows are known for being visually striking, and for often including the same company of actors time and time again. Chief among them is Sarah Paulson, who has starred in most of the seasons of American Horror Story (which is streaming with a Hulu subscription). She'll be back for the upcoming Season 13, but explained the reason why she needed to take a break from the terrifying anthology series.

Fans were hyped when the AHS Season 13 announcement revealed that many of the OG actors were returning, including both Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson. The latter actress was noticeably missing for the past two seasons NYC and Delicate, and in an interview with Variety the Glass actress explains why she took that sabbatical from the series, offering:

Honestly, this tracks. Being an iconic Scream Queen is tiring work, as its an inherently physical job. And Paulson's body doesn't know that it's all pretend, resulting in exhaustion for her mind and body. As such, she decided to step away from American Horror Story for a few years. Luckily she'll be back with a vengeance with the mysterious 13th season.

Part of why Paulson became such an icon in AHS is how different her characters have been throughout the years. And for some seasons like Hotel she's played multiple characters in the same season. Through it all we've seen her scream, cry, run, and be murdered along the way. Talk about heavy work.

Aside from AHS, Paulson has also worked with Ryan Murphy on American Crime Story and, more recently the Hulu show All's Fair, which has been trashed by critics but quite popular on the streamer. Later in the same interview, Paulson explained why she wanted to return to the horror anthology series, saying:

Looks like the cast of AHS 13 has helped get her psyched, as she'll be reunited with frequent collaborators Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Billie Lourd and more. So on top of having the time away from the show, she's seemingly happy to get the old band back together.

There was no American Horror Story this year for Halloween, but Season 13 is expected to arrive next fall as part of the 2026 TV schedule. Hopefully we get information about its theme and release date sooner rather than later.

They say there’s no such thing as bad press, and the new legal drama from Ryan Murphy seems to be proof of that. Despite getting panned by critics as possibly “the worst television drama ever made,” All’s Fair has already been renewed for Season 2 on Hulu. This was certainly unexpected news, with the Kim Kardashian-led series just over halfway through its first run, but if it pleases the court, I’d like to present evidence that proves why this is great news.

All’s Fair may be full of campy dialogue, preposterous situations and paint a completely unrealistic picture of life as a divorce lawyer, but the drama is spicy, the outfits are fire, and most importantly, this show is fun. You can tell the actresses are having a blast, and that’s never been more obvious than in this compilation of Sarah Paulson and Kim Kardashian on their press tour. This is the friendship I never knew I needed:

If there is one thing I need in my life, it is more Sarah Paulson. These behind-the-scenes peeks from Kim Kardashian’s vlog make it look like she never turns it off, and The Kardashians star never stops laughing. More All’s Fair means more of these two together and more of the American Horror Story regular, and that is great news.

Because as funny as Sarah Paulson is off-camera, her character on All’s Fair is an absolute scene-stealer. All of the women are sharp-tongued and sassy, but Carrington Lane is on another level, and this Season 2 news ensures that she’s not going anywhere for a while. We definitely need more of where this line came from:

Given the bad reviews that All’s Fair received — even though, as Kim Kardashian pointed out, the publicity seemed to work in the show’s favor — a second season was not guaranteed. Factor in how many shows Ryan Murphy is juggling right now and the actors’ busy schedules, and I certainly hadn’t expected to hear one way or the other as Season 1 episodes are still dropping (and available to stream with a Hulu subscription).

However, Hulu reported that All’s Fair had the biggest scripted series premiere in three years, with 3.2 million views globally after three days of streaming, per Deadline. The show remained in Hulu’s No. 1 spot for that entire first three days, and it hasn’t dropped out of the Top 15 since its November 4 premiere. So I guess that will do it, and no harm in locking down Kim Kardashian as quickly as possible.

I love that this bond between Kim Kardashian and Sarah Paulson — on- and off-screen — isn’t going anywhere, but before looking too far into the future, we’ve still got Season 1 to finish. New episodes of All’s Fair drop each Tuesday on Hulu.

9-1-1 may be billed as a procedural first-responder drama, but anyone who’s tuned into the ABC series — or its Lone Star or Nashville spinoffs — knows it’s far more interesting than that. Ryan Murphy is one of its creators, after all, so the reality is heightened, the emergencies are ridiculous (hello, bee-nado), and there’s always disaster brewing at the cities’ most well-known landmarks. The bonkers plots were addressed by 9-1-1: Nashville’s showrunner, who had to get the city on board to make them happen.

When 9-1-1: Nashville premiered on the 2025 TV schedule, it was immediately obvious that the emergency calls answered by the 113 firefighters were going to be just as outlandish as what we’ve seen in 9-1-1’s Los Angeles-based series and the Texas spinoff. Having a tornado destroy part of Ascend Amphitheater during a Kane Brown concert might not seem like it, but showrunner Rashad Raisani insists the show is a “love letter” to the Tennessee capital. He told the Washington Post:

Even 9-1-1: Lone Star’s Rob Lowe told LeAnn Rimes this isn’t the place to go for reality, but it’s the crazy emergencies that make it so interesting. That’s apparently something Rashad Raisani had to convince the city of, as there was apparently concern that the series was making fun of Nashville. The showrunner continued:

While the situations may be exaggerated, the drama is still spicy, which the showrunner hopes will keep audiences entertained as 9-1-1: Nashville takes them around the city to show off its nightlife, its attractions and landmarks — even if wild disasters are involved.

Mark Ezell, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, says television can be a “powerful form of advertising” when done right, and Nashville is already seeing visitors who say they were inspired to visit after seeing Rashad Raisani's series. The city official said:

We can all admit that kite scene was pretty hilarious, right?

Will this spinoff ever reach the levels of 9-1-1’s space adventures or 9-1-1: Lone Star’s horrifying CPR-on-a-frozen-body scene? Some might argue it already has.

As Ariana Grande is preparing to star in what is one of the most-anticipated movies in 2025 with the release of Wicked: For Good this week, she is preparing for her next role. The “yes, and?” singer recently wrapped filming Focker In-Law, and was just announced as part of the cast for American Horror Story Season 13. Aside from the star-studded lineup for the new season of the hit anthology series, not much else is known about what’s in store. And Grande is trying hard to avoid spoilers.

Grande has been busy on the Wicked: For Good press tour, which came amid the AHS13 announcement. Variety brought up the new season to Grande at the 2025 Governors’ Awards, and she really tried her hardest to say nothing, and I applaud her for her efforts:

At this point, avoiding spoilers is likely second-nature to her since she’s spent a few years trying not to spill too much about the Wicked films, despite the stage show. It does sound like she and the cast know some details about what’s in store, as Grande revealed that creator Ryan Murphy reached out to her with a text about it. Not surprisingly, she couldn’t even share much about that.

This won’t be Ariana Grande’s first time working with Murphy. She briefly appeared in the first season of the Fox horror comedy Scream Queens in 2015 as Chanel #2. Her character was unfortunately killed early on by the season’s serial killer, the Red Devil, but it was pretty memorable. With her reuniting with Murphy after over 10 years, it will be exciting to see what they cook up together, especially since Season 13 of American Horror Story will include some pretty big AHS heavy hitters.

American Horror Story marks Grande’s first television role since guest starring on the Showtime family tragicomedy Kidding in 2020. She may find it hard to avoid spoilers, but it should be a little easier with AHS since the wait probably won’t be nearly as long as Wicked, which officially wrapped filming in early 2024. At the very least, Grande doesn’t seem to know too much right now, which is also making it easy, aside from some key details.

It's unknown when plot details and the title will be revealed for Season 13, including who everyone will be playing. The fact that the little information Grande received about it was enough to get her on board is proof that fans will likely be in for a ride. It should be interesting to see how American Horror Story Season 13 turns out and how the cast continues to avoid spoiling anything, but for now, those with a Hulu subscription can watch all 12 seasons and prepare.

Kim Kardashian’s new legal drama All’s Fair premiered on the 2025 TV schedule last week to awful reviews, with critics calling it “tacky” and a monument to materialism. Fans, however, have had a different reaction, eating up the campy dialogue, the couture fashion and extravagant lifestyle led by Allura Grant and her team of female divorce lawyers. Kardashian has said her character is inspired by her own lawyer, Laura Wasser, and now the divorce attorney to the stars is weighing in on the show’s accuracy.

Laura Wasser has represented everyone from Kevin Costner to Britney Spears to Johnny Depp and was Kim Kardashian’s lawyer when she split with Kris Humphries and Kanye West. In an interesting twist, Kardashian told People that Wasser’s father even represented Kris Jenner in her divorce from Robert Kardashian. The reality star-turned-actress has credited her attorney numerous times as the inspiration for her All’s Fair character, but Wasser denies living a lifestyle anywhere near as luxe as Allura’s, telling E! News:

Well, that’s a bit disappointing, only because from a wish-fulfillment standpoint, it’s so much fun to watch the fictional attorneys throw money around like they do. Laura Wasser admitted as much, saying:

Kim Kardashian has seemingly used her own divorce experiences to get into character on the set of the Ryan Murphy drama (streaming now with a Hulu subscription). She describes Laura Wasser as strong and reassuring, which is what she tries to channel into her character. She’s even talked about having “so many fun moments” with her lawyer.

Even if Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash and the rest aren’t giving the most realistic portrayals of her profession, it doesn’t sound like Laura Wasser is bothered by the creative liberties taken. She said:

The lawyer to the stars seems to understand that Ryan Murphy and Kim Kardashian aren’t the type of people to let a little something like facts get in the way of a good story. That’s not what All’s Fair is about.

Kim Kardashian is one of the most well-known celebrities in the world, so after getting praise for her acting debut on American Horror Story: Delicate, it was only natural that Ryan Murphy would jump at the chance to collaborate again. The result is All’s Fair, a new legal drama whose first three episodes hit the 2025 TV schedule on November 4, and boy are critics worked up about this one.

Starring alongside Kim Kardashian on All’s Fair (streaming now with a Hulu subscription) are Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson and Teyana Taylor, who play powerful divorce attorneys. So what has the critics calling it “the worst television drama ever made”? What’s so bad that it currently holds a 0% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes? For Angie Han of THR, it’s the failed portrayal of female empowerment, the stiff and affectless script, and the fact that when you put Kardashian next to better actors, her weaknesses are all the more obvious. Han continues:

Lucy Mangan of The Guardian gives the series so far 0 stars out of 5, calling it “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible” with a misguided concept of female empowerment, the “worst kissing scenes ever on screen,” and a cast where no one seems to know what they’re doing. Mangan continues:

Alison Herman of Variety points out that in a show that claims to be about female empowerment, only Episode 2 includes a major credit by a female creative — and it’s shared between executive producer Jamie Pachino and co-creator Ryan Murphy. Even with an interesting cast of guest stars, the writers can’t resist humiliating the female characters. Herman concludes:

Ben Dowell of The Times UK also says the show is not as feminist as it thinks it is. The clunky, clichéd writing, the brand name-dropping and “tawdry materialism” make for what Dowell says “may well be the worst television drama ever made.” The critic gives it 0 stars out of 5 and says:

Emily Maddick of Glamour writes that All’s Fair lacks emotion and charm, despite it’s quick pacing and dramatic reveals. It feels “Kardashian-ified,” as if it’s telling us we should aspire to behave like billionaires. Maddick’s review says:

Well, it’s pretty obvious that All’s Fair is not a hit with the critics. As of this writing, the general audience is giving it a much more generous 54% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it seems that some are finding enjoyment in all of the ridiculousness.

It’s been almost a year since the final episodes of Yellowstone aired, and now we’re waiting to see the Duttons played by Luke Grimes and Kelly Reilly return in upcoming spinoffs. However, considering Jamie Dutton’s fate, Wes Bentley won’t be returning to this universe (as far as we know). He has booked his first job since the modern Western came to a close, though, and he’s jumping from the world of Taylor Sheridan to the world of fellow mega-producer Ryan Murphy.

While there are many upcoming Yellowstone shows in the works, including spinoffs about Kayce and Beth, Jamie – here’s your spoiler warning if you aren’t caught up – can’t really get one of those, because he died. So, while it's possible he could come back in a flashback or something, I’m not expecting Wes Bentley to show up in a Taylor Sheridan show anytime soon. Thankfully, though, he will be back on our screens at some point, because his next project will be with another TV giant.

Since Yellowstone’s series finale, Wes Bentley hasn’t released anything; however, Variety reported that his next project will be the FX series The Shards.

This new project is a book-to-screen adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel of the same name. The story follows a group of teens in 1980s Los Angeles during a time when a serial killer is on the loose and targeting young people. It sounds like a twisty, mind-boggling and thrilling ride, as the book’s synopsis reads in part:

It’s already been announced that this show will also star Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, who will play Bret, Homer Gere (Robert), Hayes Warner (Debbie) and Graham Campbell (Thom). According to sources who spoke to the outlet, Bentley will play Terry. He’s the father of Debbie, who, as previously mentioned, will be played by Hayes Warner.

All around, this sounds like a wild ride, and I’m excited to see the role Bentley plays in it. That’s partly because I loved his performance as the tortured brother Jamie in Yellowstone (which you can stream with a Peacock subscription), and also because he has quite the history with Ryan Murphy.

Before starring in Yellowstone, the show that he’s arguably best known for now, Wes Bentley appeared in three seasons of American Horror Story, which you can stream with a Hulu subscription. He was in three episodes of Season 4, which was Freak Show, and then he was in all 12 episodes of Season 5, Hotel, and all ten episodes of Season 6, Roanoke. So, this actor is not unfamiliar with Ryan Murphy and his work.

However, on The Shards, Murphy will serve as an executive producer, and Max Winkler will direct and executive produce. On AHS, the super-producer also wrote and directed a few episodes, while also serving as the co-creator, showrunner and EP.

Now, I really can’t wait to see The Shards. As a Yellowstone fan, I’m looking forward to seeing what Wes Bentley does next, and the fact that this project comes from a book written by the same man who wrote American Psycho and Less Than Zero makes me even more thrilled.

Producer Ryan Murphy’s next Monster season, which will be available with a Netflix subscription, will be all about the notorious 19th-century murderer Lizzie Borden. So far, the series has had seasons about Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez Brothers, and, most recently, serial killer Ed Gein. It seems like we’re going further and further back in time with infamous killers, and what has me so excited (and scared) about next season is that I only know a little bit about Borden and her crime. However, here is everything we know about the upcoming season.

When Will Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story Premiere?

We don’t have a premiere date yet, but Netflix has confirmed that production of the show is currently ongoing. That means it won’t be part of the 2025 TV schedule, but there’s a decent chance we’ll see it sometime in the next 12-15 months.

The third season of the show, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, dropped on the streamer in September of 2025, about a year after Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Season one, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, came out in September 2022. So, looking towards September or October 2026 seems like a good guess.

The cast of Monster Season 4 is a mix of Ryan Murphy vets and newcomers to the producer's project. There are even a couple of actors returning from Season 3 about Ed Gein.

Ella Beatty

Like a lot of his shows, Murphy has shown he loves to work with actors he’s worked with before. Following that, Lizzie Borden will be portrayed by Ella Beatty. She appeared in Murphy’s show Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. She most recently appeared in the A24 film If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, co-starring Conan O’Brien and Rose Byrne.

Charlie Hunnam

Also returning to work with Murphy is Charlie Hunnam. He starred in Season 3 of Monster, as the titular Ed Gein, earning rave reviews for his portrayal of the terrifying Wisconsin killer and grave robber. He is slated to play Lizzie’s father, Andrew Borden, who was one of the two people Lizzie was accused of murdering (along with her stepmother).

Rebecca Hall

Lizzie’s stepmother will be played by Rebecca Hall. She is best known for playing Vicky in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe. She’s also a part of the great cast of the upcoming 2025 movie, Ella McCay, from director James L. Brooks.

Vicky Krieps

Another returning cast member from Season 3 of Monster is Vicky Krieps. Krieps, who played the monstrous German war criminal Ilse Koch in The Ed Gein Story, will be playing the Borden’s maid, Bridget Sullivan. The character was played by Kristen Stewart in 2018’s Lizzie, and was a key witness at Borden’s trial, where Lizzie was acquitted of the gruesome murders.

Billie Lourd

American Horror Story veteran Billie Lourd is set to play Emma Borden, Lizzie’s older sister. Lourde has worked with Murphy in seven seasons of the Horror Story series, including as Linda Kasabian in an episode about the Manson Family, among other characters in the series.

Jessica Barden

English actress Jessica Barden will star as early 20th-century film star Nance O'Neil, who was a close friend of Lizzie Borden after they met a few years after she was acquitted. There have long been rumors that she and Borden were in a romantic relationship at the time, so it will be interesting to see how the show addresses that. In 2018’s Lizzie, Borden and her maid were depicted as lovers.

What Will The Show Be About?

This one seems pretty straightforward. In 1892, Lizzie Borden’s father and stepmother were found murdered, having been attacked with an axe. The trial that followed in 1893 was one of the most sensational of its day, one of many called “the trial of the century” over the years. Unlike Dahmer or Gein, this isn’t a story of a serial killer, but about two crimes that happened at the same time.

Like The Menendez brothers season of Monster, it’s likely that the show will focus on the lead-up to the murders and the trial that followed them. The big difference here is that Borden was found innocent. With Nance O'Neil as a character, it seems a decent amount of time could also focus on Borden’s life after the events of 1892 and 1893. She lived until 1927 in the same town where the murders occurred.

Kim Kardashian is on her way back to the small screen in the 2025 TV schedule for another season of Hulu's The Kardashians, but that won't be fans' only option for seeing her on the streamer in the not-too-distant future. She's on the verge of debuting in her second major scripted role, as she re-teamed with Ryan Murphy after American Horror Story: Delicate for a new drama, called All's Fair. Murphy only has good things to say about working with her again, but also shared the story behind his pitch for a reality show that never went anywhere with her... or mom Kris Jenner.

Murphy of course has a veritable empire of scripted TV shows on streaming, cable, and network television, ranging from Monster to American Horror Story to 9-1-1, to name just a few. He's not quite known for a string of reality TV hits, but he pitched a reality project to the stars of Keeping Up with the Kardashians and now The Kardashians anyway. As he recounted during the premiere event for All's Fair (via THR), it didn't go so well. He shared:

Ryan Murphy didn't detail what his reality pitch actually was, and all signs point towards it never becoming a TV show, so any further information about the potential project may never be revealed. Now, with All's Fair just weeks away from premiering for anybody with a Hulu subscription, Kris Jenner is continuing to get her wish for her daughter.

After AHS: Delicate cast member Naomi Watts praised Kim Kardashian, a second collaboration between Murphy and the SKIMS co-founder is on the way. Murphy reflected on Kardashian agreeing to join AHS: Delicate, saying:

Fans of the reality-turned-scripted star will have to wait until the Hulu premiere on November 4 to see if Kim Kardashian's All's Fair character is as "iconic" as her character, Siobhan Corbyn, on American Horror Story: Delicate. I do think it's safe to already say that the cast is pretty iconic! Joining Kardashian as main cast members are Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, and Glenn Close, although Close shared why she almost passed on All's Fair.

The new series will be a legal drama that will presumably be short on the horror that Kardashian helped to deliver on AHS: Delicate. The six leading ladies make up a team of divorce attorneys who open their own practice after leaving a firm that was dominated by men. The stakes are high, the secrets are scandalous, and money talks in All's Fair, and one of my big questions already is whether Ryan Murphy and Co. designed this as a possible ongoing series or one-off like some of his anthology projects.

The first three episodes will release on premiere day, and then the rest of the season will release new episodes weekly. A mega-producer who often has multiple TV series airing simultaneously, Ryan Murphy is currently celebrating the success of Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix, with his network TV offerings 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville recently debuting on ABC. Plus, there's the Kim Kardashian-starring legal drama All's Fair, the anthology Love Story's debut, and the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation The Shards. He's a busy dude, to say the least, but the project of his I'm most excited for is the comic-sourced horror-thriller The Beauty.

Based on the acclaimed comic book series co-created by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, The Beauty takes place in a world where a serum is developed that gives users a miraculous new lease on youth and vigor. Of course, miracles come with stiff prices; in this case, anyone who takes the imperfect “beauty” formula is guaranteed both a shortened lifeline and a wildly violent ending, and it’s up to a specialized group of government agents to figure out what’s happening

Speaking at New York Comic-Con (via EW) alongside various cast members, Ryan Murphy offered up a synopsis that points to the dangers invested in the new show’s narrative, saying:

Murphy is talking about Evan Peters and co-star Rebecca Hall, who are presumably playing Drew Foster and Kara Vaughn, respectively, the comic book agents whose lives become enveloped in a rash of high-profile deaths that lead them further into a wide-ranging government conspiracy. And that's likely where Ashton Kutcher's character comes in.

Last seen starring in the 2023 Netflix rom-com Your Place or Mine and cameoing in That ‘90s Show Season 1 with Mila Kunis, Kutcher returns to serialized TV as The Beauty's biotech billionaire baddie, even if he isn't necessarily a villain within his own story, nor to the many people actively seeking out and enjoying the benefits of the age-defying concoction.

Ryan Murphy Makes The Beauty Sound Like Nothing Else On TV

Already, The Beauty's storyline is a unique one, even if it may outwardly seem to share similarities with network crime procedurals. But Murphy shared that it truly does mash together all kinds of styles and moods, saying:

How many times have you seen a buddy-comedy project that also boasts "a lot of body horror?" The first thing I can think of is Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil, and there aren't a whole lot of other examples easily following that one. But even that beloved feature didn't exactly hang on a great love story, and maybe didn't have action sequences that earned an "amazing" descriptor.

As well, how many times do we get to see Evan Peters as the hero and Ashton Kutcher as the villain? Never in the same show before now.

Murphy's explanation also works to describe the comic book, which skews a bit more horror than anything else, which isn't a genre that most of its stars are known for, from Kutcher to Jeremy Pope to Anthony Ramos. (It also applies to Bella Hadid, who plays one of the unfortunate supermodels mentioned above.) Which just makes me all the more excited, knowing how well-versed Peters is with darker storytelling after earning praise for Monster's Jeffrey Dahmer and many seasons of American Horror Story, both from Ryan Murphy.

The Beauty doesn’t yet have an official release date locked in, but Murphy indicated that audiences with FX and/or Hulu subscriptions will be able to enjoy all the head-exploding fun during the “third week of January” 2026.

One of Netflix’s most successful series franchises has definitely been its Monster dramatizations of real-life killer crimes and cases, and The Ed Gein Story has been no exception since it debuted on the 2025 TV schedule. The crimes he committed were certainly exceptional in their abhorrence, and Charlie Hunnam brought the mommy-fixated creepster to life with disturbing aplomb. Fans are digging it, even if critics were split, and Murphy & Co. apparently enjoyed working with Hunnam enough to bring him back for Season 4, which has Lizzie Borden as its subject matter.

Not only that, but Season 4 has officially started filming, and Netflix unveiled some other big casting news to go along with Hunnam’s involvement. We’ll dig into those details lower down, but let’s first enjoy Netflix’s shot of the pair portraying Lizzie Borden and her father Andrew.

Portraying the accused and acquitted Fall River, Mass. native Lizzie Borden is Ella Beatty, whose only TV work prior to this was in the second season of Feud as Kerry O'Shea and Kate Harrington. (Her solo film credit is in the stellar If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.) She'll have her work cut out for her, especially with Christina Ricci having portrayed Borden on the small screen in the relatively recent past. This new role should be slightly easier for Hunnam, however, given how much of a mental struggle playing Ed Gein was.

Rebecca Hall is great in every kind of project, but my horror fandom most loudly trumpets her efforts in projects like 2015's The Gift, 2020's The Night House and 2022's Resurrection, and it's great that she'll play Lizzie Borden's step-mother not long after audiences see her in Adam Wingard's next action-horror, Onslaught. As Lizzie's older sister Emma, American Horror Story and Scream Queens vet Billie Lourd should also deliver excellence.

Also making the jump from The Ed Gein Story to Monster's next chapter is Vicky Krieps, who portrayed Nazi war criminal Ilse Koch, an inspirational figure to Hunnam's killer; here, she'll be playing the Bordens' live-in maid Bridget Sullivan. Rounding out the early cast list is The End of the F***ing World and American Horror Stories vet Jessica Barden, who will portray actress Nance O'Neill, who enters the Bordens' story at a later point.

Directing the first episode of the fourth season will be Max Winkler, who is not only the son of Happy Days and Barry icon Henry Winkler, but also the husband of the aforementioned co-star Jessica Barden. Winkler has been a go-to director for Ryan Murphy projects in recent years, as he's helmed episodes of American Horror Story and its Stories anthology spinoff, The Watcher, Feud, Grotesquerie and Monster: The Ed Gein Story. Unsurprisingly, he's also already put his efforts to use in the upcoming series Love Story.

Netflix will likely continue ordering up new seasons of Monster for as long as Ryan Murphy is willing to commit to them. So far, its Ed Gein entry has been atop the Top 10 since its release, with millions of views amassed, and it could easily stay in that spot going into the latter part of Halloween season.

There is no lack of amazing true crime content available on streaming, and Ryan Murphy’s Monster series has been quite popular for those with a Netflix subscription after tackling Jeffrey Dahmer's and the Lyle and Erik Menendez story. For Monster Season 3, the anthology series will delve into Ed Gein, and I’ve been among the fans highly anticipating Charlie Hunnam’s turn as a serial killer. Knowing the popularity of the series (as well as the controversy often surrounding it), I was surprised when I checked out its Rotten Tomatoes score.

Here at CinemaBlend, we love to keep track of how critics are scoring the hottest TV and movie releases in our review roundups, but in the case of Monster: The Ed Gein Story, there simply isn't much feedback. The third installment of the Ryan Murphy series hit the 2025 TV schedule on October 3, and the season stands with just one review on Rotten Tomatoes (as of this writing), which means it has no score.

It’s not rare for Netflix to embargo reviews on a project until the release date, but it is unusual for there to be no feedback on a series that has proven popular in years past. It seems reasonable to assume critics weren’t able to screen The Ed Gein Story ahead of time, and we’ll likely hear from them when they’ve had the chance to get through the eight-episode season.

Already, some partial reviews are dropping. Alix Blackburn of Tom’s Guide has seen the first two episodes of Monster: The Ed Gein Story and can already tell viewers are in for a “chilling and uncomfortable look into one of America’s most infamous killers.” Blackburn says:

Another critic, Karina "ScreamQueen" Adelgaard of Heaven of Horror, seems to like the series overall, rating it 4 out of 5 stars, but she knows some will take issue with how World War II is integrated. Adelgaard writes:

Go ahead and count Lucy Mangan of The Guardian as one who does not recommend Monster: The Ed Gein Story for your next Netflix binge. She gives it just 1 star out of 5, writing:

I’m not sure if there was a reason reviews didn’t come out with or before the release of Monster: The Ed Gein Story, but it does sound like true crime fans are in for possibly the most intense season of the anthology yet, just based on the subject matter. Between the freaked out, the horned up, and the cautiously intrigued, Netflix has once again proven it knows how to spark conversation. Charlie Hunnam may not look like the real Ed Gein, but that hasn’t stopped people from debating whether this is prestige horror or an exploitative spectacle.

Either way, Monster: The Ed Gein Story drops October 3, and based on the reactions, it’s shaping up to be one of the most talked-about spooky season events hitting the 2025 TV schedule.

Ryan Murphy brought his knack for handling the dark and disturbing from American Horror Story to the Monster anthology series, available streaming now with a Netflix subscription. Kicking off with Evan Peters starring in the season all about Jeffrey Dahmer, the series continued with the divisive telling of Lyle and Erik Mendendez's story. Now, reports about Season 4's subject indicate a pattern in the topics for each season, with the story of Lizzie Borden said to be the focus.

Even if you're not familiar with all the details of that sensationalized murder case from the late 19th century, you may at least be familiar with the famous "Lizzie Borden took an axe" rhyme about 40 (and 41) "whacks." According to Nexus Point News, Season 4 of the Monster series will cover the murders of Lizzie Borden's father and stepmother. Lizzie was alleged to be the killer in her own time, although acquitted in court, so it should be interesting to see how Ryan Murphy and Co. approach the story. Production reportedly begins this fall in LA.

The outlet reports that Lizzie Borden, her father, her stepmother, and the family housekeeper will be at the center of the story. Executive producer and showrunner Ian Brennan is set to return to write the fourth season along with Ryan Murphy. I'm certainly curious about their take on the tale, not least because the murders happening back in the 19th century means that nobody involved can clap back like Erik Menendez did in reaction to Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

It's in the context of Season 2 telling the story of Erik and Lyle Menendez allegedly killing their parents, with abuse cited by the brothers as part of their defense, that we find a pattern for the Monster series on Netflix. While Season 1 and Season 3 are focusing on notorious serial killers, Seasons 2 and 4 evidently both will cover crimes of parents being allegedly murdered by their children. Even seasons are family murders and odds are serial killers, apparently!

Evan Peters, who won a Golden Globe for his performance as Jeffrey Dahmer, revealed Ryan Murphy's rule at the time that the story would never be told from the serial killer's POV. I'm curious how that will (or will not) apply to the Lizzie Borden series. After all, Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein were confessed serial killers, and the Menendez brothers were convicted for murdering their parents. As far as history is concerned, Lizzie Borden was acquitted of the murders and is simply remembered as the woman who was alleged as the most likely suspect in her day.

With production reportedly not beginning until fall of this year, however, and the Ed Gein season of Monster not yet receiving a release date, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's take on Lizzie Borden is a ways off. For now, viewers can always revisit the first two seasons, both available streaming now on Netflix.

It’s been over a month since Doctor Odyssey’s first season reached its destination, with a somewhat disappointing finale airing on the 2025 TV schedule, but still no decision has come down from ABC regarding the future of the Ryan Murphy creation. Fans like myself have been desperate for an update, and Joshua Jackson — who brings the Dawson’s Creek vibes at Dr. Max Bankman — finally came through with five words that honestly don’t make me feel any better.

Joshua Jackson attended the Motion Picture & Television Fund NextGen Annual Summer Party this past weekend, and as he walked the red carpet, someone can be heard commenting that they hope Doctor Odyssey would get renewed for Season 2. In the clip on X, you can see his face scrunch up, and he shrugs a couple of times before responding:

I don’t love this response, because there was no confidence in the answer; it didn’t sound to me like he was expecting to hear from Ryan Murphy any day now, and honestly, the facial expression read more like, “not happening,” than “prepare to set sail,” at least in my opinion.

I’m just speculating here, but it seems like these actors — Joshua Jackson in addition to Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale, Don Johnson and the rest of the cast and crew — would kind of need to know something about the state of their employment. Either way, I’m not the only Doctor Odyssey fan reading into Jackson’s words, as the comments were full of doom and frustration:

One fan referenced the wild theory that The Odyssey isn’t real and that Max is stuck in a COVID-induced purgatory, hallucinating the unrealistic high-seas medical emergencies and the stunt-casted spring-breakers begging to give him the ride of his life. X user @Mietar cleverly commented:

Ahead of the Season 1 finale, the situation didn’t seem so dire, as ABC/Hulu executive Craig Erwich indicated that the decision was in Ryan Murphy’s hands, with creative conversations ongoing with the busy TV producer. Okay, it’s that time of the year when I need to talk about American Horror Story, because what the heck is going on?

Before we get into this, I want to say that yes, I did write an article some time ago about Ryan Murphy covering the Menendez Brothers in Monsters and how I didn’t know if I could support him going forward. A part of me still really feels that way. But there’s also another part that does enjoy his more real-life-focused series instead of those that feel like they glamorize murders, killers, assaulters and so much more.

So in some ways, I am excited for his new shows. But I will admit—the one show of his that I have pretty consistently watched over the last decade has been, and always will be, American Horror Story.

With twelve seasons of cast members, so many different stories and enough trauma to pay for a new therapy bill every time I watch an episode, American Horror Story is one of those shows that truly changes the game every time you watch it. Somehow, Murphy always finds a way to terrify his viewers, and I suppose I can’t help but give him props.

However, next to nothing has been confirmed about Season 13, which many long-term fans have waited for since thirteen is a pretty “spooky” and "superstitious" number that could lead to a great season. But what’s been said about AHS? Let’s talk about what we’ve heard.

Ryan Murphy Has Several New And Returning Shows Coming Up, Including ‘All’s Fair’

It was confirmed in May 2025 that a new show from Ryan Murphy, called All’s Fair, would premiere on Hulu in fall of that same year, according to Deadline. The series follows a group of female lawyers who leave a male-dominated firm to open their own one, and yes, girl power, we love to see it.

I’m not sure how I feel about seeing Kim Kardashian in another one of his shows, but she did all right in AHS Season 12, so I can’t complain too much—not when there are powerhouses like Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash and so many more.

This isn’t even the only show Murphy has coming up – there’s going to be another series called American Love Story (because, of course, there is). It’ll focus on the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, as reported by People. Another new series, titled The Beauty, is in the works as well, according to Entertainment Weekly. There’s even another season of Monster in the works – but I’m probably not going to watch that.

But what does all this mean for American Horror Story?

Ryan Murphy Said He’s Always “Working” On The Show, But Apparently, Season 13 Hasn’t Been “Ordered”

So before you even ask, yes, American Horror Story was renewed for Season 13. In fact, back in 2020, Deadline confirmed that FX renewed the show for three more seasons. This was before Season 10 aired, so it was renewed for Seasons 11, 12 and 13. And honestly? If the series ended on Season 13, I would not be upset about it. In fact, that would be fitting.

Even so, that’s really one of the only things that we know about Season 13: that it is supposed to happen. But there hasn’t been much that has come out. In an interview with Variety in October 2024, Murphy admitted that he has “always” worked on the show, but a new update from Disney TV Studios Chief Eric Schrier about the status gives us pause.

Before you ask, Disney owns Hulu, and because FX has a partnership with Hulu, the show is under that umbrella, so that’s why this matters. And in an interview that Schrier did with Deadline in May 2025, he revealed some troubling news – that Season 13 of American Horror Story hasn’t even been ordered yet:

So now we know that the series has been renewed, but because there’s no set idea, the following episodes haven’t been confirmed by the network just yet because Murphy hasn’t finished a story. I understand the concept of rebooting the series, but at this point, I’m not even sure if it’s worth rebooting. I think fans really want to see the series properly come to a close with its thirteenth installment and then bury it with the rest of the corpses that this show has produced.

There Have Been Some Cast Members Who Have Expressed Their Interest To Return – And Some Haven’t

Even then, it’s not like Season 13 hasn’t been brought up to former cast members of the show. In fact, in the same interview that Murphy did with Variety back in October 2024, he said that two OGs of the original seasons – Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson – were interested in returning. Paulson herself said to Murphy that it was time to “get the band back together,” meaning the original cast.

What a way to send out the show with these two and some of the others that we all know and love coming back.

But that doesn’t mean that everyone is aiming to sign back onto this horror fest. Jessica Lange vehemently said she wouldn’t return in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February 2025. Patti Lupone, who appeared in American Horror Story: Coven and in Season 10, told Gold Derby in April 2025 that she didn’t think she would be back either.

Even so, it’s still incredible to think of who could be back…but with no story or order in sight, I’m not sure if that’ll ever happen.

What This Means For The Future, We’re Not Sure

There are plenty of upcoming Ryan Murphy projects to look forward to if you are a fan of the mega-creator in Hollywood. But it is a shame that one of his longest-running shows doesn’t have a set date.

I’m not sure what this means for the series' future. While there are plenty of great shows releasing on the 2025 TV schedule, I really did wish that Season 13 was a part of it. I support the idea that we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but a girl can dream, you know?

For now, I suppose I can rewatch the show until Season 13 comes around… if it ever does.

Spoiler alert! This discusses aspects of both the 9-1-1 Season 8 and Doctor Odyssey Season 1 finales, which aired on May 15. The series can be streamed with a Hulu subscription.

Ryan Murphy’s takeover of ABC’s Thursday nights came to an end (at least temporarily) this week when the season finales of both 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey aired on the 2025 TV schedule. It ended up being a pretty frustrating evening for some fans of both shows, as certain romantic storylines failed to pan out. I totally feel their pain, too, but I can’t help but be amused with some of the reactions and one bizarre parallel between the two episodes.

Fans of 9-1-1 have been waiting for Buck and Eddie’s “friends-to-lovers” trope to reach that final stage for a really long time, while over on Doctor Odyssey, people got really into the love triangle between Max, Avery and Tristan. It seems viewers were expecting — or at least hoping — for something to come of these storylines, but they were ultimately left unsatisfied. One person said on social media:

As referenced above, 9-1-1’s finale "Seismic Shifts" continued its farewell to Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash, but the story was severely lacking for “Buddie” shippers who hoped Buck might admit his feelings for Eddie. As one fan put it:

Eddie (Ryan Guzman) did decide not to move to Texas, which had Buck (Oliver Stark) searching for a new apartment with “character,” but fans will have to wait until Season 9 to see if Ryan Murphy makes “Buddie” canon.

Meanwhile over on Doctor Odyssey’s “The Wave, Part 2,” Avery (Phillipa Soo) found Max (Joshua Jackson) after he was left stranded following an earthquake/tidal wave/aftershock. She admitted that she was also in love with him, and the two decided they could make a relationship work, even though she was leaving for med school. So, we’re just kicking Tristan (Sean Teale) out of the trio? Yeah, your viewers are not OK with this. See?

Many were calling out the creator of both series, Ryan Murphy, directly for how he left his fandoms in shambles Thursday, with one posting:

Besides both shows coming from the creative brain of Ryan Murphy, there was one other silly coincidence that I couldn’t help but notice. We may not have gotten romance between the characters we wanted, but we did get a good manly man fistbump. It happened on 9-1-1:

And it also happened on Doctor Odyssey, as Max checked in with Tristan to apologize for breaking “bro code” in his pursuit of Avery. As one viewer so succinctly put it:

OK, honestly did I miss something with the fistbumps? How did we get two practically within an hour of each other between characters who many would prefer to see being way more emotionally available with each other. This feels crazy to me.

Luckily for 9-1-1 fans, we already know the first responder drama is returning for a ninth season this fall, so hope remains that Buddie’s shoutout on Pop Culture Jeopardy! wasn’t their high point. Doctor Odyssey fans aren’t so fortunate, as the fate of Joshua Jackson’s medical show remains unknown.

ABC has been making announcements regarding the rest of the 2025 TV schedule and beyond, renewing many shows, including Shifting Gears. So it’s a little concerning for Doctor Odyssey fans that while more 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy are coming, the fate of ABC's third primetime Thursday series remains up in the air. One executive has spoken out about the network’s recent moves (or lack thereof, in this case), and his comments about Joshua Jackson’s bonkers medical series give me hope.

Ryan Murphy is known for his over-the-top, often-illogical plots, and I’ve grown somewhat fond of Doctor Odyssey, the campy high-seas drama that puts its characters into situations that are somehow both life-threatening and wildly unserious (take the nepo-baby-heavy “Spring Break” episode guest starring Ava Phillippe and Paris Jackson, for instance). Murphy has a lot of coals in the fire at ABC and Hulu these days, and network exec Craig Erwich gave some insight into what's happening behind the scenes, telling Variety:

While it seems like ABC’s priority when it comes to Ryan Murphy creations lies with the 9-1-1 franchise — including the introduction of Chris O’Donnell’s 9-1-1: Nashville — the network is committed to the TV producer, and it sounds like they value his creative input. Craig Erwich continued:

That’s surprising to me because I would have thought any questions regarding Doctor Odyssey Season 2 would come down to ratings and/or money, especially given the fact that Grey’s Anatomy faced budget cuts in its current 20th season, and viewers may be choosing between ABC’s two medical dramas on Thursday nights. However, Craig Erwich makes it sound like the ball is in Ryan Murphy’s court to decide if and how to proceed.

As the ABC boss said, Ryan Murphy is juggling quite a few projects, including his ongoing series with ABC and Hulu, the new 9-1-1 spinoff, Kim Kardashian’s legal drama All’s Fair (which will be available to stream with a Hulu subscription), and an upcoming FX body horror called The Beauty. I’m not sure if all of this is contributing to the lack of news regarding Doctor Odyssey, but I find hope in the fact that Murphy seems to be involved in and possibly leading the conversation about what comes next.

For now, we can at least enjoy what we have left, with new episodes of Doctor Odyssey airing at 9 p.m. ET on Thursdays on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.

To superhero fans, Chris O’Donnell is no doubt best known as Dick Grayson/Robin in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and its pun-filled sequel. But for network TV fanatics, the actor will always be NCIS: Los Angeles’ Special Agent Grisha Callen (even if it took forever to learn what his G. initial stood for). Now, just under two years after NCIS: L.A. was canceled at CBS, lightning is apparently striking twice for O’Donnell, who landed the lead role on another network procedural drama.

The actor will be trading in his Los Angeles badge for one more commonly seen in Tennessee, as O’Donnell is officially the first cast member signed on for ABC’s upcoming spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville, which is presumably being developed for a debut later in the 2025 TV lineup. The network revealed the straight-to-series order back in February 2025, so the fact that it's already going public with casting news is a great sign.

This seems like it would be the perfect project to bring former 9-1-1 star Connie Britton back into the franchise, considering she also starred in Nashville, but alas, that won’t be the case. (At least for now, since I wouldn't put it past producer Ryan Murphy to pull off just such a bonkers crossover moment.)

Chris O'Donnell's New Role In 9-1-1: Nashville

For the in-development spinoff, Chris O'Donnell will take on the role of Captain Don Sharpe, according to Deadline. No one will be able to call Don a lazy schmuck, as he's the fire captain heading up the most bustling firehouse in Nashville. As it often goes in this line of work, there's a family element at play, as Don's son works alongside him at the station. (Start placing your bets for what would be the best casting choice for O'Donnell's son.)

The character description makes sure to point out that Don is indeed a good and devoted father, as well as a faithful husband. But does that mean he's completely free from potentially scandalous secrets? Not at all.

Something that isn't a secret, though? Don is also noted as being "rugged" and a "rodeo rider," so I don't think I'm making too big of a leap here by suggesting that we'll see O'Donnell showing off his bull-riding skills at least ONCE after 9-1-1: Nashville premieres. It better not just be a bunch of trophies on his office shelves without any actual bulls and the act of riding them.

For an idea of what kinds of catastrophes might take hold once the new spinoff starts (presumably without any ocean-related threats), both 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star can be streamed with a Hulu subscription and/or a Disney+ subscription.

While it still hasnt been confirmed as a Fall TV newbie just yet, 9-1-1: Nashville will be bucking and bronc-ing its way into everyone's living rooms at some point in the near future. In the meantime, I'll be crossing my fingers and hooves for the first rodeo clown to be cast.

Minor spoilers ahead for Doctor Odyssey’s March 13 episode. The series is available to stream with a Hulu subscription if you’re not caught up.

Since resuming its premiere season, Doctor Odyssey’s medical team has saved the cruise ship from sharks, killer whales, a power outage that stranded them and currents trying to drive them into a reef, but don’t think the Ryan Murphy series is taking its foot off the gas now. Following the hilariously titled “Shark Attack! Part 2: Orcas!,” Doctor Odyssey will next cross over with its predecessor on the 2025 TV schedule, 9-1-1, and it turns out one cast member didn’t get as much time with guest star Angela Bassett as he’d have liked.

Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson and Sean Teale opened up about what it was like to have Angela Bassett guest star on Doctor Odyssey in the episode that’s scheduled to air March 20. Teale, who plays Tristan Silva, couldn’t reveal much about the plot of “Casino Week,” but wherever his story takes him, it apparently didn’t allow too much interaction between Tristan and Athena Grant. Teale told Collider:

At least it sounds like the actor got to reconnect with Angela Bassett off camera. Sean Teale didn’t say what the project was that they’d done together, but they do share a credit on the 2015 movie Survivor, so perhaps this is their 10-year reunion?

Either way, Joshua Jackson — who channels his inner Pacey as Dr. Max Bankman — and Don Johnson (aka Capt. Massey) raved over getting to work with the two-time Oscar nominee, with Jackson saying he was happy to follow Angela Bassett’s lead. Johnson, meanwhile, called her “the real deal.” Neither had much sympathy for Sean Teale, though, as they roasted him for missing out. The actors' conversation continued:

• Teale: Tristan, to some degree, is handling a series of other crises whilst our heroes are handling her. Sadly, it was not as much time with Angela as I would like.
• Jackson: That was by design.
• Johnson: She asked for that.

I love this kind of ribbing between the Doctor Odyssey stars, because you’d hope the set of such a sensational show with often-unrealistic medical emergencies would be pretty fun. I’m going to assume that Angela Bassett did not actually request to be kept away from Sean Teale, so it’s funny to me that Don Johnson and Joshua Jackson are kicking him while he’s down.

Maybe Joshua Jackson is throwing a few jabs on behalf of Max, after the March 13 episode suggested that things might be heating up between Tristan and Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo), while Max has seemingly been saying all the wrong things since she told them of her pregnancy.

We’ll see how it all plays out soon enough, with the 9-1-1 airing at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, March 20, on ABC before Angela Bassett’s crossover on Doctor Odyssey at 9 p.m. ET.

Since joining the ABC lineup last year, 9-1-1 has already seen a wild crossover with The Bachelor, and now the show is set to share universes with another Ryan Murphy creation when it returns to the 2025 TV schedule. Just like Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 used to have crossover events, the Los Angeles first responders are set to cross paths with the cruise ship medics from Doctor Odyssey, and I simply can’t understand why they chose this specific character for the task.

Variety reports that on March 20, Angela Bassett will guest star on the Doctor Odyssey episode “Casino Week” as her 9-1-1 character Athena Grant. The LAPD sergeant apparently needs the assistance of Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) to track down a couple of suspects. According to the episode synopsis:

It already felt like Doctor Odyssey was channeling 9-1-1’s cruise ship disaster, and now I’m convinced Ryan Murphy and company were just looking for an excuse to re-use the massive roll room they constructed for the procedural drama. Guys, they built a ship’s casino set inside the roll room for that 9-1-1 event, and the upcoming Doctor Odyssey episode in question is literally “Casino Week.” I think rooms will roll.

My big question is why in the world is Athena the character sent aboard The Odyssey after what she and Bobby (Peter Krause) endured in Season 7? 9-1-1 made its ABC debut with a trifecta of episodes in which Athena and Bobby went on a honeymoon cruise, only to nearly drown after the ship encountered pirates, a bombing and a hurricane.

Simply put, Athena is not leaving dry ground.

Was it just super important that Angela Bassett be the one to join Joshua Jackson and Phillipa Soo’s universe, or does the story not make sense for any other character? Oliver Stark was so excited about the crossover potential 9-1-1’s move to ABC presented, but I guess it wouldn’t make sense for Buck, a firefighter, to try to thwart the robbery of The Odyssey’s vault.

As illogical as it seems that Athena would board a cruise ship again anytime this century, it’s just as ridiculous to call out a Ryan Murphy show for blurring the lines of realism. This is happening on a series whose first season so far has featured a passenger getting iodine poisoning from eating too much shrimp, a zombie-like illness breaking out on “Halloween Week,” and will make its spring premiere with a two-week “Shark Attack!” event (yes, exclamation point and all). Take a look at the preview for that madness:

It looks like Doctor Odyssey fans are in for a world of fun, and even though I’m confused about Athena being the character who was chosen for another cruise disaster, it’s not like I’m going to complain about getting more Angela Bassett ever. 9-1-1 returns to ABC at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, March 6, and may set the stage for the Doctor Odyssey crossover that follows at 9 p.m. ET. Both series can be streamed with a Hulu subscription.

The 2025 TV schedule won't just feature Kim Kardashian as herself, it will feature her return to acting too. That's right, the mega-famous media personality and businesswoman is making another foray into acting via one of Ryan Murphy's newest shows–All’s Fair. So, with this legal drama series on the way, one of Kardashian’s co-stars, Naomi Watts, had a lot to share on the subject.

Watts joined Vogue UK to discuss her new book, Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I'd Known About Menopause, and didn't hold back about aging and romance with her husband Billy Crudup. Along with all of that, the Mulholland Drive actress shared her plans for 2025, which include working on the new Murphy project that sounds like a hybrid of Dynasty and Succession. When asked if she could reveal anything about working on this show and with Kim K. specifically, she had this to say about the Skims owner:

Kardashian is no stranger to appearing on television–I mean, The Kardashians Season 6 teaser just came out days ago. However, acting is relatively new to her. So, it's reassuring to hear acting veterans like Naomi Watts are vouching for the newer actress.

Before her collaboration with Watts on All's Fair, Kardashian worked with Ryan Murphy on American Horror Story: Delicate. So, along with her co-star's nice compliments, the producer clearly likes collaborating with Kim too.

To that point, The Watcher alum went on to talk about how much she loves the ensembles Murphy has become known for assembling. In the case of All's Fair, it's full of incredible actresses, as Watts explained:

One thing’s for sure, Ryan Murphy knows how to gather stellar actresses for a project.

Admittedly, it's a bummer that Halle Berry had to exit All's Fair due to a scheduling conflict and it would’ve been an entirely different show if Glenn Close had turned it down. However, Watts’ words have me so excited about this show, and hopefully, the L.A.-based legal drama performs well. For now, though, we’ll have to sit and wait to see if the Gypsy actress’ thoughts on her co-stars, and Kardashian specifically, ring true for the series, because there’s no set release date yet.

Okay, now that you know all the nitty-gritty details about Monster: The Ed Gein Story, I’ve just got to break down some thoughts that have been swimming around my head as of late. First and foremost, I think Charlie Hunnam playing Ed Gein could be the Sons of Anarchy star’s most interesting role in a long time, and this is coming from a guy who’s all about Hunnam’s body of work.

This is the most excited I’ve been to see Hunnam in a show or movie since those early seasons of Sons of Anarchy when he was kicking all kinds of ass as Jax Teller. However, unlike the Hamlet of the biker scene and other great roles Hunnam has had over the years, this time around he’ll be playing one of the most notorious American killers of all time, a man who used the skin from his victims to make gloves, chairs, and lampshades before being caught and turned into one of the biggest figures in the world of horror movies.

The Monster: The Ed Gein Story Trailer Teases A House Of Horrors, And I Both Terrified And Intrigued

In September 2025, a little less than a month before the show’s premiere, Netflix released the first Monster: The Ed Gein Story teaser. Let me tell you, if you haven’t watched it already, this nearly two-minute video is unsettling to say the least. I was already excited for this show (it’s one of my most anticipated this fall), but hearing what appears to be Tom Hollander’s Alfred Hitchcock talking about Ed Gein over footage of police combing through his house of horrors in rural Wisconsin has turned up the intrigue, to say the least.

Utterly terrifying and fascinating, the teaser doesn’t give away any story elements or really anything outside of the fact that Gein made an assortment of masks and furniture with the skin of corpses. However, it sets the tone for the upcoming series and has me ready to dive into the mind of one of the most peculiar true crime figures in American history.

I Cannot Wait To See How The Show Explores The Mother-Son Dynamic Shared By The Gein Family

One thing I can’t wait to see be explored in Monster: The Ed Gein Story is the mother-son dynamic shared by Charlie Hunnam and Laurie Metcalf’s characters. The Academy Award-nominated actress and Roseanne/The Conners star will be playing Augusta Gein, Ed’s hyper-religious and closed-off mother who was part of the inspiration for Norma Bates in Psycho.

Though Metcalf’s version of Ed Gein’s mother isn’t shown in the first teaser trailer, you can hear her voice as she speaks with her son. Whether or not it’s from a scene where she’s still alive or one from after her death isn’t known at this time, and that honestly makes it more exciting. Will she be a voice in his head for most of the show? We’ll have to wait and see.

I’m Interested In Seeing How The Show Handles Ed Gein’s Place In American History As Well As Hollywood

In October 2024, Netflix Tudum announced that Tom Hollander would be playing Alfred Hitchcock, the filmmaker who famously made Psycho, a book-to-screen adaptation that was heavily influenced by Gein’s life and legacy. That got me wondering, how much of the next season of Monster will focus on Hitchcock and his quest to turn Robert Bloch’s Psycho novel into one of the most groundbreaking horror films of all time? This could add a fun dynamic to the series, especially if it bounces from narrative to narrative to cover Gein’s crimes and how they influenced pop culture.

With the teaser trailer highlighting Gein’s influence on Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs, it will be interesting to see if the series will be presented in a straightforward Point-A-to-Point-B affair, or something where it bounces back and forth between two timelines. Regardless, it’s going to be fascinating to see how Ryan Murphy’s latest true crime show handles not only Gein’s actions but also his impact.

While we wait for Monster: The Ed Gein Story, there are plenty of documentaries and movies about the serial killer who influenced pop culture in the years that followed his heinous crimes.

I’m counting down the days until Monster: The Ed Gein Story premieres on October 3, but it seems like I should also start getting excited about Ryan Murphy’s fourth Monster installment…

ABC is juggling two medical dramas on Thursday nights, with Doctor Odyssey pushing Grey’s Anatomy back an hour on the 2024 TV schedule to dive into the eccentric emergencies that occur on the high seas. There’s a pretty big difference, however, between Ellen Pompeo’s medical drama — which goes to lengths to portray medicine in a realistic sense — and Joshua Jackson’s new show from Ryan Murphy, which… doesn’t. So just how often do cruise ships really see the wild maladies plaguing The Odyssey’s passengers? A real-life cruise medical expert has spoken about just that.

So far on Doctor Odyssey’s premiere season — which stars Joshua Jackson giving Dawson’s Creek vibes as Dr. Max Bankman — we’ve seen copper poisoning from ingesting raw organ meat, a collapsed lung from an acupuncture session gone wrong and an appendectomy in a hurricane. Frankly it’s enough to make the bravest of travelers stay tethered to dry land and close to a fully equipped ER. Liz Baugh, lead medical consultant for Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, however, assured USA TODAY the kinds of emergencies depicted on the show are rare:

Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story, right? That philosophy works better on fictional series like Doctor Odyssey than it does on some of Ryan Murphy’s other creations that are based on real events — like American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez and Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story. Stretching the truth too far in those cases has broken the faith of some Murphy apologists.

In one notable example from Doctor Odyssey’s premiere, Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo) tells Dr. Bankman that a passenger gets iodine poisoning from eating too much shrimp at the buffet at least once every trip. Liz Baugh debunked that myth, saying:

What’s more common, according to the consultant, is seasickness, bladder infections, or illnesses involving the ear, nose or throat. Cruise lines also take steps to head off many negative situations by encouraging passengers to bring plenty of the medications they will need.

As ridiculous and unrealistic as some of the situations on Doctor Odyssey are, it’s fun to see the show channeling the cruise ship crisis of fellow Ryan Murphy project and Thursday night sister series 9-1-1.

One of the best horror movies of all time is getting a remake, or rather, one of the best modern horror novels is set for another Hollywood retelling. Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho is set for a brand new adaptation whose existence is already justified due to the director bringing it to life: the Zendaya-starring Challengers and horror-romance Bones and All helmer Luca Guadagnino. Now, an actor from mega-producer Ryan Murphy’s talent stable has voiced an interest in portraying horror’s most stylish slasher Patrick Bateman.

Fittingly enough, at least in some ways, the actor voicing interest in following Christian Bale in the role is Cooper Koch, one of the stars of Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, the second season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's true crime anthology series. Anyone who was unfamiliar with the actor before has likely seen him everywhere since the show debuted in mid-September. Speaking with THR, Koch quickly named the horror remake as a follow-up to his high-profile gig as Erik Menendez, saying:

At this point, nothing is in place to officially loop Cooper Koch into Luca Guadagnino's latest film, which will follow his next two films, with Daniel Craig's Queer hitting the 2024 movie schedule, and Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield's After the Hunt being a 2025 theatrical release. That said, him naming American Psycho amidst all the new offers he's been getting could be just what's needed to convince the filmmaker Koch is right for the gig.

The actor continued, pointing out that Bateman would be a very different role from playing convicted killer Erik Menendez. As he put it:

What's more, Cooper Koch also put it out there that his favorite movie of 2024 to date has been Challengers, with the explanation that he's "a big gay tennis boy." So if Guadagnino is the kind of director who is swayed easily by compliments, that's a foot in the door right there. If Koch starts appearing at publicity events wearing blood-covered rain slickers while blasting Huey Lewis & the News from a boombox, that could lock it all down right there.

At this point, Scott Z. Burns is handling scripting duties for the new iteration of American Psycho, and he's reportedly set to deliver an original take on the Ellis novel's storyline of a Wall Street businessman who suddenly begins killing the greed-fueled people he's surrounded by, all while being investigated by Willem Dafoe's wonky detective. But is that actually what's happening? And what happened to that cat?

Presumably these details and more will be explored in the new story, which is coming together nearly 25 years after Mary Harron's original film hit theaters. A modest hit at the time, the film has gained a huge fanbase and reputation as a classic psychological horror that still feels modern despite its unmistakably '80s setting. And Monsters technically hit a lot of the same kinds of period-piece throwback scenes, giving fans a vague idea of what Koch could look like in the role. Just imagine what Erik Mendendez would look like showing off eggshell and bone-white business cards.

It's probably no surprise that someone from Ryan Murphy's expansive list of familiar actors, considering at least half of them at this point have played killers of some kind. I'm not sure if there's a point where Evan Peters hits his limit on playing creepy sickos, but I'd love to see him in the mix as well. Even if he's not Patrick Bateman and only plays one of the other yuppie douches in Patrick's circle of friends, it'd be a treat.

The legal world is certainly keeping Kim Kardashian busy these days. In the past month, she’s continued her real-life work on prison reform, meeting with convicted killers Lyle and Erik Menendez following the release of Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology. Meanwhile in the fictional world, the reality star has been hard at work on her upcoming legal drama All’s Fair. The cast of the series — which is also a Murphy creation and set to appear on the 2025 TV schedule — seemed to be getting along swimmingly, as Niecy Nash posted pics posing in SKIMS pajamas alongside Kardashian and Glenn Close.

Kim Kardashian has gotten everyone from Sabrina Carpenter (who did NOT have to ask Taylor Swift’s permission, by the way) to Jenny McCarthy to pose for her SKIMS ads, and now she can add her All’s Fair co-stars to that list, as Glenn Close and Niecy Nash flaunted the gorgeous black sleep sets gifted to them by Kardashian. Nash shared the pic on Instagram:

I mean, of course, Kim Kardashian’s gift to her new co-stars would be something from her own clothing line; self-promotion is kind of her thing, after all. I can’t hate on this, though, because it’s actually a pretty generous gift, and I know those SKIMS pajamas don’t come cheap! All three ladies were looking simply wonderful (and comfortable!) as they posed in front of what I can only hope is one of their desks in the law office they work for on All’s Fair.

Ryan Murphy pitched Kim Kardashian on the idea of leading her own series (during a conversation we got to see on The Kardashians, which can be streamed with a Hulu subscription) following her acting debut last year on American Horror Story: Delicate. Eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close nearly passed on All’s Fair because she was afraid her character would be too similar to the one she played on Damages, and she didn’t want to repeat herself.

It’s unknown exactly what kind of roles she and Niecy Nash will play, but we know Ryan Murphy and Kim Kardashian are wanting to channel major female empowerment. Halle Berry was also cast for the upcoming Hulu series, but she had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Kim Kardashian’s character was reportedly inspired by Laura Wasser, the so-called “divorce lawyer to the stars,” who has represented Kardashian in two of her three divorces, as well as celebrities including Kevin Costner, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears and many more, She’s also apparently helping Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez navigate their split without a prenuptial agreement.

I’m excited to see what Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash and Glenn Close will do together on the screen, and it’s good to know that they’re staying comfy on set! In addition to waiting for a premiere date to be announced for All’s Fair, we’re also waiting to see when the entire Kardashian-Jenner family will return to Hulu.

Their reality show was renewed for a sixth and seventh season this summer, but there’s allegedly been some concern that The Kardashians will get “kanceled” amid diminishing streaming budgets and Kim Kardashian’s acting career affecting her availability. Only time will tell, so keep an eye on that 2024 TV schedule.

Alright, where do I start?

Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story was released on Netflix as part of the 2024 TV schedule, and I had to admit—I was excited at first. I've always been very interested in this case, and I feel that it was good to bring it back up years later.

If we're being honest, I've also always been a Ryan Murphy apologist. Don't get me wrong, I know that some of his stuff hasn't been the absolute best, but I still supported what he did thanks to how much I've loved his shows in the past, as I'll soon discuss.

However, I think this show has broken my trust in Murphy, and I really need to get into it because my thoughts are all jumbled in my head, and I have to get them out.

First Off – I Know Ryan Murphy's Shows Have Declined In Quality, But I Still Enjoyed Them

I'll start by saying that, again, I know that Ryan Murphy's shows have diminished in quality over the years. I'm not blind. While I have rewatched American Horror Story and changed my rankings a bit, and I can still enjoy the best covers from Glee, I acknowledge that there are some seasons and shows of Murphy's that aren't good.

While AHS Delicate started strong, it ended in a boring way that I can't even remember and need more energy to recall. The Watcher was just poorly told. Hollywood could have been great, but was flawed by a bad story—the list goes on. However, I've stuck with Murphy because I did enjoy a lot of his earlier shows.

The first seasons of American Horror Story were top television, with some great Sarah Paulson performances, some great Evan Peters performances, and many more amazing stories to tell. Glee was enjoyable (until Season 5, but that's an article for another time). Scream Queens is a classic, even if it only lasted for two seasons. I did enjoy many of his older projects, and even with some of his new things, there are moments I wanted—just not as much as in the past.

And I Actually Enjoyed The First Iteration Of Monster About Jeffrey Dahmer

I know I know – there was a lot of controversy about Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, but I actually enjoyed that series. I think it's mainly because I was able to separate the dramatized version from the facts of the case that I already knew from the several documentaries I had seen.

Once you recognize it as a drama, the show is enjoyable. Evan Peters' performance was excellent (as I predicted it would be), and the story certainly keeps your attention for episode after episode. I'll say that I feel the treatment of the victims was not great, but I liked the series enough that I checked out the next version regarding the Menendez brothers… which was not great.

However, I Am Truly Disgusted With The Portrayal Of The Menendez Brothers

I am not an actual crime expert—I don't claim to be, and I never will—but I've watched enough documentaries about the Menendez Brothers and read enough about the case that I knew what I was getting into when watching this show.

And I am utterly disgusted at this portrayal.

I'm not really as disappointed at it because I knew about the facts of the case beforehand and the things that were true or not. What made me worried about this show is that there are people who are watching this because it's just trending as part of Netflix's 2024 TV schedule and know next to nothing about this case. Now they'll think that some of the facts in this are real.

I know what you're going to say – it's on the viewer to figure out and separate fact from fiction, but when you make a show at this level on the biggest streaming platform out there, then I'd expect there to be some care put into it.

But the moment you watch this show, it feels so fake, inauthentic, really. It paints the brothers out as not really victims, but individuals with messed up minds and strange innuendos and so much more that it absolutely unnerves and bothers me. If you know about the case, you know about the horrors they went through and the evidence that it shows, and it's just disheartening to see them portrayed in such a lousy matter.

Ryan Murphy himself said he didn't even meet the Menendez Brothers before making the show and has no interest in meeting them now, according to Variety in September 2024. He claims that the interest in the show could mean that another trial is possbile for the brothers, which, sure, that's great, but the fact that the creator of the show doesn't want to meet them? At all? That's… a major red flag, and it bothers me.

I Also Don't Like How The Series Made Jose And Kitty Out To Not Be "As Bad" As They Really Were

I actually had a conversation with my boyfriend regarding this aspect. He said I was "closed-minded" when I brought up "Don't Dream It's Over," which I personally believe glamorizes Kitty and Jose. He said that people are complex, and yes, they did these horrible things, too, but they also made a lot of choices for their family, future and all that.

Sure, I can understand that, but the way in which it's portrayed bothers me. Yes, in the court case, the two parents would technically be the victims because they were murdered. However, after what those boys went through, I can't see any good in them. Some people are just the epitome of horrible, and from what I've read about the Menendez Brothers, their parents were pretty darn close.

It's easy for me to say because it's not like I'm personally connected to the case. I'm not one of the victims. I don't understand the complexities of loving someone after what horrible things they did because I've never truly gone through it. But as a human being who wants justice, I can't stand episodes like this – where it makes the monsters be someone else.

I Really Don't Know If I Can Keep Supporting Ryan Murphy After This

There are a lot of things coming out for Ryan Murphy that, before this, I was excited about. I'm still thinking about watching American Horror Story Season 13 because there are rumors of old cast members coming back. Part of me was looking forward to Grotesquerie because I thought the trailers looked good, and it's been getting decent reviews.

But I just… don't know if I can keep supporting Ryan Murphy after this.

There are plenty of great Ryan Murphy TV shows of the past you can watch, but watching Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story really put a sour taste in my mouth. It makes me wonder what other cases he could potentially cover that might be told in the wrong way.

Personally, I don't want to support a creator who delivers a story in this way.

It's not just wrong—it's inhumane. It's cruel and mocks the real lives that were affected, and for that, I just can't return to something like this.

I don't know, maybe something will happen in the future that will change my mind, but I think the Ryan Murphy bug in me has been officially squashed—and I just don't see myself trying to revive it any time soon.

Primetime is packed with action thanks to the returns of both 9-1-1: Lone Star to Fox and 9-1-1 to ABC in the fall 2024 TV schedule. The end to Lone Star's action isn't too far off, however, as the show will end after a 12-episode fifth and final season. Now, another 9-1-1 spinoff is in the works to join the original show on ABC, which just reminded me of what Lone Star executive producer Rashad Raisani shared with CinemaBlend about the end of Season 5.

9-1-1's New Spinoff

The upcoming end of Fox's 9-1-1 property doesn't mean that ABC's half of the franchise can't expand. Another show set in the 9-1-1 universe is in development for ABC, with two of the original series' co-creators involved. Ryan Murphy dropped the news to Variety, saying:

Only time will tell what "new city" is the setting Ryan Murphy was alluding to, but I'm interested to see if it will be closer to 9-1-1's Los Angeles than Lone Star's Austin to allow for easier crossovers than when the original two shows were both on Fox. (Both are currently streaming with a Hulu subscription.)

The new project hasn't been ordered to series at the time of writing, so it remains to be seen if it will actually make it to primetime. I just can't help but find this news bittersweet, given that 9-1-1: Lone Star got the axe.

9-1-1: Lone Star Executive Producer On Season 5

Lone Star co-showrunner/executive producer Rashad Raisani spoke with CinemaBlend ahead of the fifth and final season, admitting that the "writing was on the wall" for cancellation before it became official. The team didn't get the word until filming had already wrapped on Season 5 without a returning series regular, meaning that what is now the series finale hadn't been definitively planned as the end of the story for Owen and Co.

I asked Raisani how proud he was of Season 5 serving as the end of the Lone Star cast of characters despite not designing it that way, and he shared:

Season 5 certainly got off to a thrilling start, and the first two episodes set up a massive train crisis while Owen is still struggling with choosing a replacement for Judd. Based on Rashad Raisani's comments, those two episodes are only the beginning of a "beautiful" final season. He went on:

An 11th hour save seems unlikely at this point, but it sounds promising that the series isn't going to end by concluding all of the characters' journeys. Who knows? Maybe some of them could relocate to the mystery location of Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear's potential ABC spinoff and join that cast. For now, I'm just glad to hear that the executive producer is so proud of what is turning out to be Lone Star's finished product.

Following the premiere of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story on the 2024 TV schedule, Erik Menéndez and his wife clapped back at the Ryan Murphy series that documents the story of him and his brother Lyle being convicted for murdering their mom and dad, Kitty and Jose Menéndez, in 1989. Erik Menéndez released a statement via Tammi Menéndez’s X account that went viral over the weekend. In it, he called out Murphy specifically and the show, saying in part that the executive producer “cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent.” He then went on to write:

How Ryan Murphy Responded To Erik Menéndez’s Comments

At the premiere of Grotesquerie, Murphy's other big show premiering this fall, he was asked about the backlash he’s received from Erik Menéndez. In response, he noted that the brother has not watched the series (which is available with a Netflix subscription), and he complimented Cooper Koch's performance as Erik, telling E! News:

Murphy went on to explain that the show does address the abuse the brothers went through and “their victimization.”

The series follows the brothers’ story as they’re convicted of murdering their parents. The prosecution stated that their motivation to do it came from wanting to inherit a fortune. However, the brothers, as Erik’s statement points out, have maintained that they were victims of abuse that was sexual, emotional and physical. To that point, Murphy said the show addresses that, saying:

The EP noted that each episode of the show highlights a new theory about the case. He also said he hopes the series prompts viewers to “make up your own mind about who’s innocent, who’s guilty, and who’s the monster.” Lastly, he made it clear that he wanted the project to highlight an issue that isn’t talked about enough, which is male sexual abuse.

As Ryan Murphy noted, he’s no stranger to backlash like this. For example, this show about the Menéndez brothers is the follow-up to the highly contentious first season of Monsters, which focused on Jeffrey Dahmer.

Right when Dahmer came out it was met with a lot of backlash. At one point, a friend of one of Dahmer's victims called out the producer, because they thought the show was “ill timed” and “a media grab.” Meanwhile, a sister of one of the victims said she was never contacted about the series beforehand, even though she’s used as a character in it. Meanwhile, Ryan Murphy did say he tried to contact the victims’ families. So, the producer has faced backlash like Menéndez 's before.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story – the second season in Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology series has arrived amid the 2024 TV schedule. And, as some may have expected, it’s garnering plenty of reactions. Those responses aren’t just coming from critics and general viewers, as one of them came from Erik himself via his wife, Tammi. He didn’t mince words when discussing Murphy’s take on his and brother’s stories. That development also coincides with Kim Kardashian’s recent visit to see the two brothers in prison.

What Did Erik Menendez Have To Say About Ryan Murphy’s Monsters?

It was in 1996 that Erik and Lyle Menéndez were convicted for the murders of their parents José and Mary Louise "Kitty" Menéndez. The latest season of Ryan Murphy’s show (which is streamable with a Netflix subscription) covers the murders as well as the legal proceedings that followed it. On the day that the nine episodes debuted, Tammi – who’s been married to Erik since 1999 – shared her spouse’s take on the show to X. The now-53-year-old convicted murderer expressed disdain for the drama series:

Erik Menéndez also chastised Netflix for its “dishonest portrayal of the tragedies surrounding our crime.” Furthermore, he argued that the series forwards the narrative “that males were not sexually abused, and that males experienced rape trauma differently than women.” With that, he asserted that the limited series undercut the stories shared by men who’ve opened up about abuse.

After declaring that Ryan Murphy “shapes his horrible narrative through vile and appalling character portrayals,” Mr. Menéndez shared more thoughts. Those can be seen in the post below:

This isn’t the first time Monster has faced blowback from individuals connected to a true story the show has tackled. Season 1, which focused on the murders committed by Jeffrey Dahmer, also faced significant blowback. For instance, a friend of one of Dahmer's victims called out Ryan Murphy for what he described as a “media grab.” Others, including the sister of one of Dahmer’s victims, claimed they were never contacted to consult on the show. However, Murphy claimed he did try to receive input from the families that were impacted.

As of this writing, the American Horror Story producer has yet to speak out on the comments shared by Tammi Menéndez. In the meantime, though, one of his collaborators, Kim Kardashian, has been busy.

Why Did Kim Kardahian Visit The Menendez Siblings?

This past weekend, after Tammi Menéndez shared the statement, Kim Kardashian made her way to Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility. It was reported by TMZ that she traveled to the facility, which is near San Diego, to discuss prison reform with Lyle, Erik and other inmates. Per the news outlet, the socialite ultimately spoke to a group of about 40 inmates.

She was also reportedly accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner, sister Khloe Kardashian as well as film producer Scott Budnick and actor Cooper Koch – who plays Erik on Monsters. Photos of her return to LA from the facility were also shared by deuxmoi on Instagram.

Law school student Kim Kardahian has been working towards reform in the criminal justice system for some time now. She even worked with former President Donald Trump, who apparently hung up on her one time, to accomplish that task while he was in the White House. During her latest prison visit, she apparently discussed a reform initiative known as Greenspace, which the Menéndez brothers are both involved with on some level.

Ultimately, the Kardashians star’s visit and the statement shared by Tammi Menéndez on her husband’s behalf all arguably put more of the spotlight on Monsters. As for whether more people might speak out about the anthology series, whether negatively or positively, remains to be seen.

But Hunnam won’t be portraying a newspaper journalist or an obsessed investigator or anything so simple; no, he’ll be portraying one of the most notorious and unfortunately influential serial killers of all time, Ed Gein.

This bonkers reveal comes courtesy of mega-producer Ryan Murphy himself, who made the announcement while promoting Season 2 at an event in Los Angeles. While further details weren’t bandied about, one only has to look at Evan Peters’ take on Jeffrey Dahmer in the chart-topping first season of Monster to get an idea of what to expect.

Of course, Ed Gein’s highly disturbing history, both criminal and personal, also offers up insights into what audiences may see Hunnam doing. Known as the Butcher of Plainfield, and hailing from the noted Wisconsin town, Gein became known not so much for the murders he was convicted for, but for robbing graves and fashioning household items out of people’s corpses, such as bowls made from human skulls and furniture decorated with skin and bones.

Gein’s (reported) decade of horrifying crimes and lifestyle finally came to an end in 1957 when he was captured by the town’s deputy sheriff, whose father served as Gein’s final victim. Though he wasn’t deemed to be fit for trial for another decade, he quickly gained notoriety after his atrocities were made public, and served as the inspiration for various horror and thriller icons, specifically Psycho’s Norman Bates — Gein did indeed make something of a skin suit from his mother’s skin — Texas Chain-Saw Massacre’s Leatherface and The Silence of the Lambs’ Hannibal Lecter.

Currently, Charlie Hunnam is set to star in one of my most anticipated shows of the foreseeable future, Prime Video’s series take on Criminal, Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ award-winning crime noir comic book series. So to think that he’ll be jumping from that into portraying Ed Gein is wild, and will certainly test the actor’s ability to put audiences on edge in highly disturbing ways.

It’s also potentially Hunnam’s best shot yet at becoming an award-season threat, since Ryan Murphy’s anthologized series tend to shine brightly when nominations are being handed out. The first season of Monster, which remains the third most-watched series in Netflix’s history, landed star Evan Peters a Golden Globe win, while Niecy Nash took home the Emmy for her work as neighbor Glenda Cleveland.

All episodes of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will be available to stream with a Netflix subscription on Thursday, September 19, though it’s unclear if Season 3 will be ready to arrive within the 2025 TV lineup or not.

After Kim Kardashian made her starring acting debut in American Horror Story: Delicate she has signed on for another Ryan Murphy-produced series. She is set to star in All’s Fair, a legal drama that's being produced for Hulu. The show will also include legendary actress Glenn Close, who can bring gravitas to the already buzzy project. The Oscar nominee recently revealed that she almost passed on the project, and explained what made her reconsider and ultimately sign on.

Ryan Murphy has so many (streamable) shows and is practically the king of TV at this point. Hits like American Horror Story, American Crime Story and Glee have his fingerprints on them. Aside from producing shows with soapy, bingeable premises, Murphy's also famous for casting A-list talent. Adding Glenn Close to his latest cast is par-for-the-course, but even with Murphy’s reputation, the actress was still apprehensive about signing on due to another major production on her resume. She told Entertainment Tonight:

For context, the FX/Audience series Damages debuted in 2007 and lasted five seasons. Glenn Close led an all-star cast that included Rose Byrne and John Goodman. A legal drama, it saw the Fatal Attraction star play a ruthless lawyer that was also considered a “master manipulator.” It was a juicy, complex role that Close played flawlessly and won two Emmys for. Even though a character like that would be well within her range, it’s understandable why the actress wouldn’t want to take on the same kind of role again.

Thankfully, Ryan Murphy assured her that he planned on taking a different approach for All’s Fair, and the new role would showcase the veteran actress' range in a whole new way. Every detail learned about the new show has been nothing but exciting, and Murphy has nailed legal dramas before, with The People vs. O.J. Simpson being a prime example. As for where production on the upcoming show stands, the Deliverance star said:

As for when fans can expect to see the show premiere, that remains to be seen. Considering Glenn Close’s history of incredible performances, I’m sure she’ll find the character in no time and deliver some stunning work.

Even with such buzz, All’s Fair hasn’t been without hiccups. Halle Berry was originally set to star alongside Kim Kardashian in the show, but scheduling conflicts made it impossible. Berry’s replacement has yet to be announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the short list includes a slew of talented actresses clamoring to work with Ryan Murphy. And, of course, I can't imagine that may would turn their nose up at the prospect of working with a living legend like Glenn Close.

A release window has yet has yet to be announced for All's Fair, but keep in mind that the show will eventually be available to stream with a Hulu subscription in the near future. Fall premieres of the 2024 TV schedule are quickly approaching, and a big change is coming to ABC's Thursday night lineup with the addition of Doctor Odyssey. Not only is Joshua Jackson's new show replacing Station 19 on Thursdays, but it's taking Grey's Anatomy's usual time slot. The stakes already seem high for the project to become a hit, so it's really only fitting that a new video features a crisis on the ocean like the one that hit 9-1-1 earlier this year. Jackson's character may need all of his – to quote the new series' tagline – "big deck energy" for this maritime gig!

It's not hard to understand the similarities, either. Doctor Odyssey was co-created by Ryan Murphy, who also co-created 9-1-1. The new project features Joshua Jackson's Max joining the staff of a luxury cruise ship as the on-board doctor. He has a small but capable team to confront medical crises miles away from dry land, but there will be plenty of play to go along with the work. Based on the newest trailer, Max and Co. could also face primetime's biggest rogue wave since Bobby and Athena nearly drowned in 9-1-1's first few episodes on ABC! Take a look:

Wouldn't it be nice indeed, if everything on board the Odyssey was more luxury and less crisis? Honestly, the shots of the ocean and the weather conditions in this trailer lead me to wonder if Doctor Odyssey used the roll room that 9-1-1 built for its cruise ship crisis to film. It's interesting that ABC has chosen to schedule this new show between 9-1-1 at 8 p.m. ET and Grey's Anatomy at 10 p.m. ET on Thursdays. The network didn't stick with two firefighter dramas on one night for very long, as Station 19 was cancelled while 9-1-1 was renewed. Does a double dose of medical drama on Thursdays spell trouble?

It's too early to say, but Doctor Odyssey has a lot going for it from the jump. Joshua Jackson is of course a TV veteran across genres, thanks to roles in shows ranging from Dawson's Creek to Fringe to Dr. Death. He's joined in the cast by Hamilton's Phillipa Soo, The Gifted's Sean Teale, and Miami Vice icon Don Johnson. Take a look at the poster for the show, complete with tagline:

I'm not sure what "Big Deck Energy" will entail for this high-stakes drama on the high seas, but I'm interested to find out! The wait isn't too much longer. Doctor Odyssey premieres on Thursday, September 26 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC, between 9-1-1 Season 8 at 8 p.m. ET and Grey's Anatomy Season 21 at 10 p.m. ET.

NBC's Thursday night lineup – consisting of Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Found – as well as CBS' Thursday night lineup – Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Ghosts, Matlock, and Elsbeth – won't return until October, so network TV competition on September 26 might not be too stiff. If you don't want to watch Doctor Odyssey live on ABC but are still interested, you'll be able to watch episodes next day with a Hulu subscription.

We’re only a few weeks away from Grey’s Anatomy’s return to the 2024 TV schedule, where we’ll learn who exactly is still employed by Grey Sloan Memorial after some big moves in the Season 20 finale. However, the Seattle surgeons won’t be the only doctors in ABC’s house on Thursday nights. Ryan Murphy is bringing a new series to the Alphabet Network, with Doctor Odyssey also premiering on September 26.

While I’m excited to see Joshua Jackson practice medicine on the high seas, I can’t help but be a little put off that the rookie medical series is bumping Grey’s Anatomy from its timeslot. Let me explain why, as a Grey's fan, I’m concerned about the new Thursday lineup.

Can ABC Handle Two Medical Dramas On Thursday Nights?

Joshua Jackson will star in the freshman ABC series as Dr. Max Bankman, the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship. He, the ship’s captain Robert Massey (Don Johnson), nurse Avery Morgan (Phillipa Soo) and nurse Tristan Silva (Sean Teale) will be faced with some unique crises as they navigate the seas miles from shore and a traditional operating room. This, to me, sounds like a great premise — and as far as medical dramas go, it’s definitely different from Grey’s Anatomy’s brand of hospital-oriented entertainment.

That said, with ABC’s Thursday nights kicking off with a two-hour Ryan Murphy block of the first responder drama 9-1-1 and then Doctor Odyssey at 9 p.m. ET, I’m concerned that audiences aren’t going to stick around for another doctor show. It’s a similar situation to when Grey’s Anatomy followed Private Practice, but in that case, Kate Walsh’s medical series was a spinoff that worked in tandem with Ellen Pompeo’s gig. And just look at what happened to Station 19.

Will Grey’s Anatomy Suffer Station 19’s Fate?

Grey’s Anatomy’s second TV spinoff Station 19 seemed to be going strong six seasons in, featuring multiple crossovers with the flagship series and together dominating Thursday night ratings. However, ahead of its seventh cycle, ABC announced that the 2024 season would be its last. For its final run, the firefighter drama was also bumped from its timeslot, into the same 10 p.m. ET space where Grey’s Anatomy is headed next month and being replaced by 9-1-1 — that’s right, a Ryan Murphy drama of the same genre. Sound familiar?

There’s also the question of what the pairing will mean for Doctor Odyssey. Will Joshua Jackson’s show benefit from Grey’s Anatomy’s existing fanbase, or will viewers remain loyal to Meredith Grey and opt not to add more medicine to their Thursdays? And how long will ABC give Doctor Odyssey to settle into its “Big Deck Energy” (the series’ words, not mine), when they’ve already got an established medical drama on the schedule?

Grey’s Anatomy’s New Timeslot Hasn’t Seen Consistency In Years

As I previously mentioned, I’m also not thrilled about seeing Grey’s Anatomy move to the 10 p.m. ET timeslot. How to Get Away with Murder was the last Thursday night show to hold that hour for more than one season, and that was when it was bolstered by other Shonda Rhimes brainchildren like Grey’s and Scandal.

Since How to Get Away with Murder ended after the 2019 season, the 10 p.m. hour has been held for one season each by A Million Little Things (which moved back to Wednesdays the next year), Big Sky (also moving to Wednesdays the year after), Alaska Daily (canceled after one season) and finally Station 19’s seventh and final season. Can Grey’s Anatomy break the trend, or will it too be moved or canceled next year?

The Shonda Rhimes Era On ABC Appears To Be Over

Grey’s Anatomy has always seemed pretty indestructible. Even a few years ago when Ellen Pompeo was convinced it should end, ABC apparently wouldn’t hear of it because it was such a big moneymaker. However, with the show facing budget cuts for the network to shift its focus to new series, I wonder if there could be an expiration date on Grey’s after all.

Either way, the writing had been on the wall for a while, even before the cancellation of Station 19, regarding the end of the Shonda Rhimes Thursday night era on ABC. In 2017 Rhimes parted ways with the company (she felt like she was “dying” on network television) and accepted a lucrative deal with Netflix. Station 19 was her final creation for the Alphabet Network.

When Grey’s Anatomy premieres in September, it will be the first time since 2008 that it’s not accompanied by at least one other Shonda Rhimes series. In 2009 Private Practice moved from Wednesdays to Thursdays, and after that our Thursday nights featured one or more of Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder and Station 19 to keep our favorite Seattle doctors company.

Is Ryan Murphy the new Shonda Rhimes? The queen is dead. Long live the king.

Of course, I would love for Doctor Odyssey to be a hit, and it’s certainly possible that all three Thursday night shows could help one another prosper. A rising tide lifts all boats, right? With the new drama taking place on the water, it seems like there’s such a huge opportunity to bring something unique to the world of medical TV. A cruise ship is such a great setting, too, and coming from the brain of Ryan Murphy, you just know we’re in for some wild times.

My big concern as a longtime Grey’s Anatomy fan is that there’s just so many things working against it this year — the budget cuts, the late timeslot, the loss of cast members and, yes, the competition with a young, fresh medical drama. I think I’m going to have trouble getting comfortable until we see how the ratings play out and what ABC decides to do going forward.

Be sure to tune in on Wednesday, September 26, as 9-1-1 kicks off its eighth season at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the premiere of Doctor Odyssey at 9 p.m. ET and then Grey’s Anatomy at 10 p.m. All three will be available to stream the next day with a Hulu subscription.

Ryan Murphy is continuing his relationship with Kim Kardashian by partnering with her for his new series, All’s Fair. The reality star and businesswoman tried her hand at acting in American Horror Story: Delicate. Even though not everyone was impressed by her performance, it did kick off her partnership with Murphy which led to this upcoming legal drama. Along with The Kardashians star, the stacked cast list initially included Halle Berry, but not long after the announcement was made, she exited. Now, the Emmy winner is breaking her silence.

Deadline reported in July that Berry was cast in All’s Fair, which comes from Murphy and Kardashian. She was also set to executive produce alongside the duo and Glenn Close. Just a week later, Variety reported that she would be exiting due to a scheduling conflict. While speaking with ET, Berry didn’t share too many details about why she had to exit, but she still conveyed her excitement for the series, saying:

All’s Fair focuses on an all-female law firm in Los Angeles and at the time of her exit, details for Berry’s character were not revealed. However, since she was attached both as an actor and executive producer, she likely had one of the main roles. Even though it is a disappointment that she won’t be on the show, she isn’t counting out a collaboration with Murphy just yet:

According to IMDb, Halle Berry has five other projects in the works, two of which are on the 2024 movie schedule, so it’s shocking that she wasn’t able to fit All’s Fair. At the very least, it’s better that she exited not long after she joined, so the series has time to cast someone else and change anything in the script if needed. Berry doesn’t take on too many TV roles, but it’s nice that she still has an interest in working with Ryan Murphy. Of course, it all depends on her schedule though.

All’ s Fair should still be an interesting series to watch regardless. The show is Murphy’s first under his new overall deal with Disney, and he also serves as a writer and director in addition to executive producer. Jon Robin Baitz, Joe Baken, Jamie Pachino, Laura Greene, and Richard Levine serve as executive producers, while Kim Kardashian, Glenn Close, Kris Jenner, Alexis Woodall, Eric Kovtun, and Scott Robertson are also executive producers. Close is set to produce under her Trillium Productions banner, and 20th Television will produce in association with Ryan Murphy Television.

There are still a whole lot of projects to look forward to from Halle Berry, while All's Fair gets to work, including the upcoming film The Union, which will be available with a Netflix subscription on Friday. Hopefully, a project with Ryan Murphy and her will happen later down the line, and when it does, the wait will definitely be worth it.

There were some strong opinions when Kim Kardashian made her acting debut last year on American Horror Story: Delicate. While not everyone was impressed, the reality star garnered enough positive feedback for her portrayal of witchy publicist Siobhan Corbyn that she’s now got several coals in the Hollywood fire. The role seemed tailor-made for Kardashian, too, as Siobhan was dripping with momager Kris Jenner vibes. However, it turns out Kim had drawn her inspiration from a different member of the Kardashian-Jenner dynasty — her older sister Kourtney.

Kim Kardashian talked all things Ryan Murphy when she sat down with Chloë Sevigny for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, even giving her opinion on David Schwimmer’s portrayal of her dad Robert Kardashian Sr. on The People v. O.J. Simpson. When it came to her own performance on AHS’ 12th season, it wasn’t her mother who informed Kim’s acting choices, but rather, Kourtney Kardashian. Kim said: 

It seemed like a no-brainer. Kim Kardashian played Siobhan Corbyn as a P.R. machine, unwilling to take no for an answer, ready to go to any lengths to let Emma Roberts’ Anna Victoria Alcott know that she was “doing amazing, sweetie!” Siobhan was also harboring a few secrets of her own, so it’s no surprise that reviews of the American Horror Story: Delicate premiere said Kim was the perfect choice for the Kris Jenner homage.

Kim Kardashian said in hindsight she understands why everyone saw her mom in that performance, but looking back even at her very first scene, it’s not that hard to see shades of Kourtney Kardashian there too. The delivery of her vulgar first line, followed by the exasperated realization that, “It’s exhausting being better than everyone,” could definitely be an attitude that Kim’s seen in her older sister, particularly during the fiery fight we saw play out on The Kardashians (available to stream with a Hulu subscription).

American Horror Story was Kim Kardashian’s first time working with Ryan Murphy, but it won’t be her last. In December, Murphy received a series commitment from Hulu for an as-yet-untitled legal drama starring Kim Kardashian as a powerful divorce attorney. This time around she’ll be looking outside her family for inspiration, though her muse is someone she’s still pretty close to. She told Chloë Sevigny: 

Divorce attorney to the stars Laura Wasser has worked with Kim Kardashian to end two of her three marriages, so it will be interesting to see how the reality TV queen pulls from those experiences in that role. In the meantime, you can stream American Horror Story and The Kardashians on Hulu, and be sure to see what else is new and coming soon to Hulu. 

Ryan Murphy has delivered more than a few notable TV productions over the course of his career, like American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck. What arguably remains one of the prolific producer’s most seminal works, though, is the first season of American Crime Story. The show, which was subtitled The People v. O.J. Simpson, received acclaim, with many lauding how the creative team tackled the former athlete’ murder trial. Kim Kardashian is linked to the event itself, as her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., served on the late Simpson’s legal team. And, just recently, the media personality and mogul shared thoughts on the show and seeing her dad portrayed on screen. 

The Kardashian family member was one of the many stars to take part in the latest season of Variety’s Actors on Actors series. She was paired with Chloë Sevigny of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, (which is also a Ryan Murphy production). Amid the discussion, the two discussed the nuances of portraying an actual person, as Sevigny portrayed as C. Z. Guest in her own show. She mentioned the importance of being respectful and nodded to American Crime Story and how Kim and her relatives were portrayed on it. From there, the SKIMS founder recalled her experience watching it and jokingly posed a question for Ryan Murphy: 

David Schwimmer played Robert Kardashian amid the 10-episode season, and the show depicted the late lawyer’s efforts to help argue for the acquittal O.J. Simpson, who was a friend of his. The series also conveys the doubts Kardashian had regarding his buddy's innocence. Selma Blair also played the role of Kardashian’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner, who was friends with Simpson’s late wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. Additionally, a few scenes take place in the Kardashians’ former home, and child stars even played Kim and some of her siblings. Not everything may have been on point as Kim stated during the interview, which was shared to YouTube. But it’s fair to say that the show was skillfully crafted and arguably still stands as the best of ACS’ three seasons. Also, seriously, Ryan Murphy, who did you talk to?

The People v. O.J. Simpson, which premiered on FX in 2016, featured a strong ensemble. It included the likes of Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sterling K. Brown, Courtney B. Vance, Bruce Greenwood and John Travolta, who returned to TV at the time after an absence from the medium. The drama series went on to win several Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Paulson, Outstanding Lead Actor for Vance, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Brown and Outstanding Limited Series.

Kim Kardashian isn’t the only person who has praised the American Horror Story companion series. Prosecutor Marcia Clark, who was portrayed by Sarah Paulson, was complimentary of the show and Paulson’s performance while talking to BUILD Series (via YouTube). On the other hand, the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman (whose murders were at the center of the case) were not pleased, as reported by ET. They believed they should’ve been consulted more heavily and that certain alterations should have been made.

All of that aside though, it sounds like Kim Kardashian was relatively satisfied with how her dad and other elements were depicted. I’d imagine that dramatizing true events and casting actors to play real people isn’t easy. So it says a lot when someone with a connection to the events being adapted has kind words to share.

After scoring her first big acting role on American Horror Story: Delicate last September, Kim Kardashian has continued her foray into Hollywood, signing on to executive produce and star in a couple of movies. As for what’s next on the small screen, her next character may tap into a subject she knows a little bit about — divorce court. While talking to Ryan Murphy about a new project, the thrice-divorced reality star recalled “fun moments” with her lawyer amid her split from Kanye West, including telling her: “Don’t ever let me do this again.”

On the May 30 episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner sat down with American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy about a new series that would see Kardashian playing the “best, most expensive divorce lawyer," Murphy said, as he mused that clients probably get very close to their attorneys and “tell them everything.” The SKIMS boss agreed, recalling her experiences with famed divorce lawyer Laura Wasser. She said: 

Laura Wasser has represented Kim Kardashian in two of her three divorces, most recently with Kanye West — finalizing a settlement nearly two years after Kardashian initially filed to end the seven-year marriage — and before that Kardashian’s infamous 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. The reality star was also married to Damon Thomas from 2000 to 2003, before she got famous on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.  

The series that Kim Kardashian and Ryan Murphy discussed on the episode “Get It Together” received a series commitment from Hulu in December, per Variety, (this season of The Kardashians was filmed about eight months ago) but there’s not a lot of information as of yet. Kardashian called it “on brand” that her character would be the head of an all-female law firm, and Murphy loved the idea of her being able to say, “Not only am I a lawyer, but I play one on TV!”

It sounds like Kim Kardashian might be able to pull from her personal experiences with Laura Wasser — who has represented everyone from Britney Spears to Kevin Costner to Johnny Depp — especially since the two have been able to find the humor in an otherwise unpleasant situation. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Kardashian getting involved when it comes to plot, either, given how hands-on she’s apparently been on other upcoming projects. 

In November 2023, Kim Kardashian signed on to the female-driven comedy The 5th Wheel. She is set to star in the Netflix movie and executive produce alongside Girls5eva’s Paula Pell, who will pen the script with Janine Brito. In March it was announced Kardashian is also attached to an as-yet-untitled thriller from Amazon MGM that was written by Natalie Krinsky 

Kim Kardashian certainly has a lot of irons in the fire, but for now fans can continue to see her on new episodes of The Kardashians each Thursday with their Hulu subscription. 

Travis Kelce shot to superstardom in more than one way in recent years, ranging from football thanks to three Super Bowl wins with the Kansas City Chiefs to his extremely high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift. Now, the tight end is tackling a new kind of project: scripted television. Kelce has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy's upcoming horror series Grotesquerie for later in the 2024 TV schedule, and I have questions after the reveal.

As usual for Ryan Murphy projects, details about Grotesquerie are fairly scarce, but cast member Niecy Nash posted a behind-the-scenes video that revealed Travis Kelce on set, and he had a short but sweet message in the footage. Take a look:

After Niecy Nash made the reveal, Kelce confirmed that he's "jumping into new territory" with Grotesquerie, and he seemingly couldn't be more excited about working with the Rookie: Feds alum for his foray into scripted TV drama. He reposted the video on his Instagram Story, with this caption:

Grotesquerie of course won't be Travis Kelce's first small screen gig other than playing football on national television, as he hosted Saturday Night Live back in March 2023 and then returned for a cameo alongside Taylor Swift last fall. (He's also attached to host Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? for Amazon Prime subscribers.) But appearing in sketch comedy is a far cry from performing from a script, and the rest of the Grotesquerie cast have a long list of credits to their names already.

According to Deadline, Niecy Nash and Travis Kelce are joined by Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville for the new Ryan Murphy horror show. All in all, one of my biggest questions in the wake of the news is whether Kelce is actually a full cast member like the veteran actors, or just appearing as a guest star or to make a cameo of some sort.

After all, he just signed a historic multi-million dollar contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, so it's not like he's out of a day job yet, and the expected fall premiere date for Grotesquerie likely means that show's season overlapping with the NFL season. Of course, the show will presumably be entirely filmed well before Kelce has to trade in his dapper suits for his football gear, so there may not be any timing conflict. But are there any implications for the NFL based on the Grotesquerie news?

Vance as well as an Academy Award nomination for Lesley Manville. Super Bowl wins don't necessarily translate to scripted gravitas, so it should be interesting to see what Kelce has in store for viewers with Grotesquerie.

Hot off of his somewhat limited stint as one of the most powerful superheroes on the planet under the age of 30 in Gen V, Patrick Schwarzenegger landed another high-profile role that will keep him busy on the small screen and the football field. Ryan Murphy’s long-gestating anthology series American Sports Story finally made forward progress through the publicized casting of Josh Andrés Rivera as former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, with Schwarzenegger revealed to be portraying quarterback-turned-analyst Tim Tebow. Though the actor couldn’t speak out about the casting at the time it was revealed, he’s since hit up social media with excitement and appreciation over his latest starring role. 

As fans wait to see if Golden Boy will return for Gen V Season 2, Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to spread the love and awareness for his newest project, and it sounds like he’s already having a blast behind the scenes. Here’s what he had to say:

Just as Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk honed in on disturbing stories that rocked the nation with previous seasons of American Crime Story (as well as the anthology that started it all, American Horror Story), this sports-specific saga will indeed follow suit, with the Wondery podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc as the source material. The show will track the titular athlete's journey from a successful NFL star to a disgraced murderer who took his own life in prison, presumably with quite a few other marquee NFL athletes like Tom Brady also serving as secondary roles.

Ahead of being drafted by the Denver Broncos, Tim Tebow was the quarterback for the Florida Gators for their two National Championship wins, with Aaron Hernandez being on the team for the 2009 victory. Though they were drafted by different teams, Tebow did join the New England Patriots practice squad in 2013, allowing their paths to cross again within the big leagues. As such, this will hopefully be more than just a one-off appearance for the Gen V star.

Speaking of the Boys spinoff, which can be streamed in full with an Amazon Prime subscription, Patrick Schwarzenegger's co-star Lizze Broadway was one of several celebs who shared excitement in the comments, with The Boys star Jack Quaid also in the mix.

At the moment, it's unclear when audiences will be able to see American Sports Story's debut season hitting the TV premiere schedule, but it will hopefully be far easier to bring the project to life now that the actors strike has concluded. Look for it to hit FX and streaming (with a Hulu subscription) in late 2024 or early 2025.
