One of TV’s busiest producers at any given time, Ryan Murphy finally gave American Horror Story fans more reasons to look forward to the upcoming Season 13, which will hopefully wrap in time to debut on the 2026 TV schedule. Initially through a Jessica Lange-infused first look, and then through the confirmation that the anthology’s newest chapter will return to the bewitching city of New Orleans for a proper Coven sequel that's bringing all kinds of former stars back.

Gloriously, Murphy followed that up with daily character reveals, first with the returning Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode, and then with a clip earlier today of Emma Roberts back in b---h mode as the irrepressible Madison Montgomery. Check out the vid, which is set within the hallowed halls of Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, which Murphy confirmed was rebuilt in NOLA to film the season.

Truth be told, Madison remains one of my least favorite AHS characters, but entirely for the reasons why so many other fans love her. So it's more of a love to hate kind of thing than pure disinterest.

But Coven did feature one of my favorite American Horror Story characters, and it's one whose return status is currently unclear, as the actress is not among the cast members that has been announced for Season 13. Not that it's stopping fans from calling for her to be included.

I Stand With Fans Who Want Lily Rabe's Misty Day Back For Season 13

One of the most tragic characters conceived for this anthology series, Misty Day was a witch who was legitimately burned at the stake, Salem style, for bringing an animal back to life. She remains a part of the season by bringing certain characters back form the afterlife, but just when it seemed like she'd be made whole again, Misty surprisingly remained stuck in hell at the end of Coven’s season.

Thankfully, that wasn't the last fans saw of her. Misty finally did make a canonically legitimate return to the land of the living after Apocalypse’s time-traveling shenanigans reversed many characters’ deaths by killing off the Antichrist Michael. So for all intents and purposes, Misty is still presumably capable of coming back. (I mean, she might not want to for obvious "avoiding being burned to death" reasons.)

Admist the myriad positive comments calling Paulson and Roberts' characters "Mother," and people going relatively gaga in general, some fans are calling for other characters to return beyond the ones we've seen so far, and I'm putting all my support behind everyone asking for Misty to grace us with her presence again.

While I'm admittedly single-minded in my hopes for Lily Rabe to tap into her inner Steve Nicks again, I can't exactly deny those above and elsewhere also calling for Frances Conroy's Myrtle Snow to also return to Miss Robicheaux's. Not to mention those hoping to see Jamie Brewer's Nan again after she also popped back up in Apocalypse.

As far as new cast members go, the ever-wonderful John Waters is joining this universe for an as yet undisclosed role, while pop queen movie star Ariana Grande is also in the mix, and has been dying to talk about it. Maybe Grande will be playing the new musical witch that Misty connects with. I may take offense of this season ends up being a big Wicked crossover, though.

The horror genre has been going through a thrilling renaissance for years now, to the delight of fans like me. Zach Cregger's Weapons is arguably one of the best horror movies in recent memory, and fans are hoping for a possible sequel to arrive sooner rather than later. Sarah Paulson has an idea about how she could join the burgeoning horror franchise, and I'm so in on this concept.

There's been some chatter about a Weapons prequel about Amy Madigan's Aunt Gladys, and that kernel of an idea is already a highly anticipated upcoming horror movie. The original film (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription), earned Madigan an Oscar nomination, and in a recent interview with Variety at the Actor's Awards Paulson spoke about wanting to join her onscreen. As the American Horror Story icon put it:

This is the crossover I didn't know I needed. Paulson is a bonafide scream queen, and I'd love to see her opposite Amy Madigan's Gladys. Specifically as a blood relative to the villainous witch. Are you listening, Mr. Cregger?

While Paulson originally said she could be a neighbor of the Weapons villain, she eventually landed on a more thrilling idea: being the villain's blood relative. Aunt Gladys' backstory was left purposefully ambiguous in the movie, which is why fans want to see it explored in a prequel film.

There has been some chatter about a Weapons follow-up film, with Zach Cregger seemingly interested in exploring more about Gladys. There hasn't been any concrete steps forward to making this potential project a reality, so maybe there's a chance for the Barbarian director to write a role for Sarah Paulson. She and Madigan are friends, and would no doubt have great chemistry in a story about the villain and her blood magic.

Obviously, Paulson has experience with horror, and about witch-centric stories. She's basically the face of American Horror Story, and got to play the Supreme herself Cordelia Goode in both Coven and Apocalypse. So the idea of her playing a relative to Gladys in a future Weapons project is a thrilling one that fans of the genre will likely freak out over. I know that it's really working for me personally.

Unfortunately, it's unclear when another Weapons movie will actually be green lit and filmed. For now, cinephiles can re-watch the original movie on HBO Max. We'll just have to wait and see if Amy Madigan is able to take home the Academy Award when the telecast airs March 15th as part of the 2026 TV schedule.

Ryan Murphy shows are known for being visually striking, and for often including the same company of actors time and time again. Chief among them is Sarah Paulson, who has starred in most of the seasons of American Horror Story (which is streaming with a Hulu subscription). She'll be back for the upcoming Season 13, but explained the reason why she needed to take a break from the terrifying anthology series.

Fans were hyped when the AHS Season 13 announcement revealed that many of the OG actors were returning, including both Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson. The latter actress was noticeably missing for the past two seasons NYC and Delicate, and in an interview with Variety the Glass actress explains why she took that sabbatical from the series, offering:

Honestly, this tracks. Being an iconic Scream Queen is tiring work, as its an inherently physical job. And Paulson's body doesn't know that it's all pretend, resulting in exhaustion for her mind and body. As such, she decided to step away from American Horror Story for a few years. Luckily she'll be back with a vengeance with the mysterious 13th season.

Part of why Paulson became such an icon in AHS is how different her characters have been throughout the years. And for some seasons like Hotel she's played multiple characters in the same season. Through it all we've seen her scream, cry, run, and be murdered along the way. Talk about heavy work.

Aside from AHS, Paulson has also worked with Ryan Murphy on American Crime Story and, more recently the Hulu show All's Fair, which has been trashed by critics but quite popular on the streamer. Later in the same interview, Paulson explained why she wanted to return to the horror anthology series, saying:

Looks like the cast of AHS 13 has helped get her psyched, as she'll be reunited with frequent collaborators Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Billie Lourd and more. So on top of having the time away from the show, she's seemingly happy to get the old band back together.

There was no American Horror Story this year for Halloween, but Season 13 is expected to arrive next fall as part of the 2026 TV schedule. Hopefully we get information about its theme and release date sooner rather than later.

Though Sarah Paulson has been kicking around Hollywood for a long time, I think most would agree that her many roles in the American Horror Story franchise really put her career and fame in a higher gear. Much of her time on screen in Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed horror anthology series has garnered rave reviews, but the same cannot be said for their collaboration on the 2025 TV schedule, All’s Fair. Now, Paulson has weighed in on the show being trashed by critics.

What Did Sarah Paulson Say About Critics Hating On All’s Fair?

It’s probably, well, fair, to say that Ryan Murphy has crafted some of the wildest television shows of the past couple of decades. From Nip/Tuck to the 9-1-1 franchise, and the aforementioned AHS to Pose, Glee, and the Monster anthology, he’s been behind some of the most talked about, popular and, yes, sometimes controversial series that have ever been on TV.

The same can be said about All’s Fair (you can watch it with a Hulu subscription), which features an incredibly impressive murderer’s row of leads in Niecy Nash, Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor, Naomi Watts, Kim Kardashian, and Sarah Paulson, with the exception of the fact that critics have really not been kind to it. As Paulson recently told Variety:

Even knowing that working hard on something you believe people will enjoy, only to put it into the world and have it be trashed, would be really difficult, the response to All’s Fair from critics has still kinda been above and beyond when it comes to the negativity one would have to get past. The series debuted in early November with an astonishing 0% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes (with audiences giving it a much more generous rating of 66%), and wasn’t just called things like “dreadful,” but also labeled “a tacky and revolting monument to greed,” and “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible.”

With such strongly-worded reviews being sent their way, however, the American Crime Story Emmy winner can continue to be a consummate pro and revel in what she knows to be true about the project (which focuses on powerful and unbelievably stylish divorce attorneys), despite the terrible reviews. She added:

The group of women who starred on the legal show seem to be having the last laugh. Not only does it appear pretty obvious that they enjoyed working with each other and promoting their new show, but it’s already been renewed for Season 2. So, they’ll get to do it all over again in the near future, and as Paulson said, there’s nothing better than that.

They say there’s no such thing as bad press, and the new legal drama from Ryan Murphy seems to be proof of that. Despite getting panned by critics as possibly “the worst television drama ever made,” All’s Fair has already been renewed for Season 2 on Hulu. This was certainly unexpected news, with the Kim Kardashian-led series just over halfway through its first run, but if it pleases the court, I’d like to present evidence that proves why this is great news.

All’s Fair may be full of campy dialogue, preposterous situations and paint a completely unrealistic picture of life as a divorce lawyer, but the drama is spicy, the outfits are fire, and most importantly, this show is fun. You can tell the actresses are having a blast, and that’s never been more obvious than in this compilation of Sarah Paulson and Kim Kardashian on their press tour. This is the friendship I never knew I needed:

If there is one thing I need in my life, it is more Sarah Paulson. These behind-the-scenes peeks from Kim Kardashian’s vlog make it look like she never turns it off, and The Kardashians star never stops laughing. More All’s Fair means more of these two together and more of the American Horror Story regular, and that is great news.

Because as funny as Sarah Paulson is off-camera, her character on All’s Fair is an absolute scene-stealer. All of the women are sharp-tongued and sassy, but Carrington Lane is on another level, and this Season 2 news ensures that she’s not going anywhere for a while. We definitely need more of where this line came from:

Given the bad reviews that All’s Fair received — even though, as Kim Kardashian pointed out, the publicity seemed to work in the show’s favor — a second season was not guaranteed. Factor in how many shows Ryan Murphy is juggling right now and the actors’ busy schedules, and I certainly hadn’t expected to hear one way or the other as Season 1 episodes are still dropping (and available to stream with a Hulu subscription).

However, Hulu reported that All’s Fair had the biggest scripted series premiere in three years, with 3.2 million views globally after three days of streaming, per Deadline. The show remained in Hulu’s No. 1 spot for that entire first three days, and it hasn’t dropped out of the Top 15 since its November 4 premiere. So I guess that will do it, and no harm in locking down Kim Kardashian as quickly as possible.

I love that this bond between Kim Kardashian and Sarah Paulson — on- and off-screen — isn’t going anywhere, but before looking too far into the future, we’ve still got Season 1 to finish. New episodes of All’s Fair drop each Tuesday on Hulu.

Kim Kardashian’s new legal drama All’s Fair hit the 2025 TV schedule this week, and the critics absolutely went off, declaring it “revolting” and “the worst television drama ever made.” The series premiered to a nice, round 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, as the reviews bemoaned its awful dialogue, denounced its stance on materialism and accused it of hating women. The reality star, meanwhile, appears unbothered by the feedback — for good reason, too, because the audience seems to be eating it up.

The Kardashians star joked about the awful response All’s Fair received from critics in a light-hearted Instagram post, where she shared photos of herself and the rest of the cast — including creator Ryan Murphy — at the premiere, interspersed with screenshots of fans’ reactions on X. She captioned the post:

Kim Kardashian has proven in the past that she can take a joke — even one at her expense — but in this case she may be justified in calling out the critics, because it seems viewers are here for this brand of melodrama.

While the All’s Fair Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score has jumped slightly to 5%, the audience's Popcornmeter is at a pretty impressive 66% from fans who were happy they decided to fire up their Hulu subscription to check it out. Some of their comments included:

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that All’s Fair’s popularity comes at least in part BECAUSE OF the negative attention it’s received, rather than in spite of it. In fact, a colleague even suggested that getting a 0% Rotten Tomatoes score was possibly the best press it could get, admitting she was “way more interested” in checking it out than before.

I, myself, watched the first three episodes and agreed with everything the critics said about the cringey dialogue and the absolute disrespect to Elizabeth Berkley and Jessica Simpson’s characters. However, there’s no part of me that’s pretending I’m not going to watch the whole series. All’s Fair may be “bad,” but it’s super fun and definitely not boring.

Given everything we’ve seen of the All’s Fair cast’s behind-the-scenes antics — from booze-fueled Fatal Attraction watch parties to the stars traipsing around in SKIMS pajamas (not to mention the viral “bush” underwear), it seems like Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson and the rest had a blast making the show, and that energy is definitely coming through to the fans.

Glenn Close has enjoyed a successful career that boasts an impressive eight Academy Award nominations, so even as her current project on the 2025 TV schedule — All’s Fair starring Kim Kardashian — is getting panned by critics as “tacky and revolting,” the cast took some time to enjoy one of Close’s best movies, Fatal Attraction. Niecy Nash spilled the tea on their watch party, where she apparently asked the living legend about her “booby” in the film.

The cast of All’s Fair gathered at Kris Jenner’s house for a screening of Fatal Attraction after it was revealed on an episode of The Kardashians that Kim Kardashian had never seen the erotic thriller. Afterward, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash broke down the group’s reaction to a particularly spicy scene for ET, with Nash recalling:

I’m not sure how often body doubles were used in 1987, when the Michael Douglas thriller came out, but I’m guessing it was rare. Kim Kardashian also talked about that scene on the latest episode of The Kardashians, “I’m About to Lose My Shit,” available to stream with a Hulu subscription, saying:

Having a drink before filming an intimate scene might have worked for Michael Douglas and Glenn Close in the ‘80s, but the film’s director Adrian Lyne has said such a thing would definitely not fly today. Filming sex scenes has changed a lot since Fatal Attraction, with much stricter protocols in place to protect actors, including the presence of intimacy coordinators.

Speaking of alcohol, though, there was plenty flowing at the All’s Fair cast’s slumber party, and Niecy Nash said there was one prank they discussed but ultimately did not execute. She said:

I’m sure The American President star is not sorry he missed that. Maybe for their next drunken watch party?

The result is All’s Fair, a new legal drama whose first three episodes hit the 2025 TV schedule on November 4, and boy are critics worked up about this one.

For Angie Han of THR, it’s the failed portrayal of female empowerment, the stiff and affectless script, and the fact that when you put Kardashian next to better actors, her weaknesses are all the more obvious. Lucy Mangan of The Guardian gives the series so far 0 stars out of 5, calling it “fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible” with a misguided concept of female empowerment, the “worst kissing scenes ever on screen,” and a cast where no one seems to know what they’re doing. Mangan continues:

Alison Herman of Variety points out that in a show that claims to be about female empowerment, only Episode 2 includes a major credit by a female creative — and it’s shared between executive producer Jamie Pachino and co-creator Ryan Murphy. Even with an interesting cast of guest stars, the writers can’t resist humiliating the female characters. Herman concludes:

Ben Dowell of The Times UK also says the show is not as feminist as it thinks it is. The clunky, clichéd writing, the brand name-dropping and “tawdry materialism” make for what Dowell says “may well be the worst television drama ever made.” The critic gives it 0 stars out of 5 and says:

Emily Maddick of Glamour writes that All’s Fair lacks emotion and charm, despite it’s quick pacing and dramatic reveals. It feels “Kardashian-ified,” as if it’s telling us we should aspire to behave like billionaires. Maddick’s review says:

Well, it’s pretty obvious that All’s Fair is not a hit with the critics. As of this writing, the general audience is giving it a much more generous 54% on Rotten Tomatoes, so it seems that some are finding enjoyment in all of the ridiculousness.

The American Horror Story franchise has been going strong since back in 2011 with the Murder House season that started it all, and that season is still my favorite out of all those that I've seen so far. Now, with creator Ryan Murphy revealing details about the long-awaited Season 13, the cast list has me convinced that I'm going to need to plan on tuning in after the end of the 2025 TV schedule. Not only are there many big names coming back, but one new cast member is going from Wicked to... well, something probably wicked in a different way!

Among those on the cast list (as revealed on Instagram on Halloween 2025) are several of the AHS cast members to appear in the most seasons. Brace yourself for some very familiar names, and check out who you can expect when American Horror Story comes back:

While there are a lot of names to be excited about, there's a reason why the comment section is largely full of fans freaking out about Jessica Lange. After starring in the first four seasons, Lange hasn't returned to AHS for more than a guest role since 2015. (There are also plenty of people excited about Ariana Grande, with the news breaking less than a month before the arrival of Wicked: For Good in the 2025 movie release schedule.)

There reveals came with "I'll Be Seeing You" by Vera Lynn playing, and I've found Vera Lynn songs to be fun when paired with horror ever since "We'll Meet Again" was effectively used in Stranger Things. There was some bad news to go with the thrills of the cast list, though, as the video confirmed that Season 13 will premiere on Halloween... in 2026. With AHS Season 12 wrapping back in April 2024, that will mean more than two full years without any new episodes. Take a look:

As noted, a lot of the fans commenting on the video are sharing their excitement about Jessica Lange and Ariana Grande, and one person caught the AHS: Coven reference of the iconic "Surprise, bitch, I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me." That line has been heavily memed since Billie Lourd dropped it in her role as Madison Montgomery in Season 3. Interestingly, both Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett are also currently starring on network TV shows, with CBS' Matlock for Bates and ABC's 9-1-1 for Bassett.

At least one person was celebrating that Kim Kardashian won't be part of the cast despite her doing well enough in Season 12 when she channeled sister Kourtney Kardashian. Ryan Murphy was impressed enough by the reality star's turn as a scripted actress that he cast her in All's Fair, which premieres with a stacked cast on Tuesday, November 4 for anybody with a Hulu subscription.

With AHS Season 13 not premiering for another year, fans might be in for a long wait until more details emerge beyond the cast list. That said, those actors are interesting enough that I may use the next year to catch up on the American Horror Stories seasons I've missed over the years. After all, even though AHS is an anthology, it pays to see the actors playing different roles time and again.

Kim Kardashian has never been afraid to include unique and unexpected items as part of her billion-dollar SKIMS line — whether that’s the infamous nipple bra or edible underwear for Valentine’s Day. She’s done it again recently with the debut of her Faux Hair Micro String Thong, aka the “bush” underwear, and it turns out one of her All’s Fair co-stars is a satisfied customer.

As Kim Kardashian attended the UK premiere of All’s Fair ahead of the legal drama hitting the 2025 TV schedule on November 4, she was asked if anyone in the cast might be secretly sporting the item underneath their wardrobe. She told Capital:

I love that Sarah Paulson is supporting her co-star in that way, and that she wasn’t shy to tell Kim Kardashian about it. The American Horror Story regular may be proud of her purchase, but many fans are a bit confused by it.

It’s not quite as perplexing as the SKIMS swim gloves, but there is a lot of chatter about the bush thongs online from people joking that they can grow their own for free. It does seem kind of like a hat-on-a-hat situation, or you’re just putting hair back there after doing the work to remove it.

However, just like the nipple bra was celebrated for what it provides women who have had mastectomies or who are unhappy with their own nipples for whatever reason, the faux hair thong could give the same confidence boost to those who are unable to grow pubic hair due to alopecia, chemotherapy, etc.

This isn’t the All’s Fair cast’s first experience with Kim Kardashian’s clothing line. Glenn Close and Niecy Nash showed off some black sleep sets that were gifted to them by their co-star. That seems like a nice gesture as they got acquainted on the set of Ryan Murphy’s legal drama.

All’s Fair, in which Kim Kardashian plays a character inspired by real-life divorce attorney to the stars, Laura Wasser, is set to premiere on Tuesday, November 4, for those with a Hulu subscription. Am I the only one who will be wondering if Sarah Paulson is sporting the bush underwear underneath that power suit (and what color combo she went with)?

While fans can re-watch AHS tenure on the air with a Hulu subscription, we're not being treated to the 13th season. But would Sarah Paulson return to the horror anthology series? Luckily for us, she recently addressed this.

Paulson has starred in some of the best American Horror Story seasons, and is known for crafting wildly different characters each time. The iconic scream queen was recently interviewed by People at the Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program Luncheon, revealing her thoughts about returning for more American Horror Story. Well, that's definitely a hopeful message. While Paulson didn't explicitly confirm anything, it sounds like she's expecting to return if/when AHS returns to FX. Whether or not that'll happen in time for this year's spooky season remains to be seen, but clearly Ryan Murphy's muse is down to clown.

While fans have been treated to new content from Murphy, they've been left wondering if American Horror Story Season 13 was going to return. We've gotten a new season almost every fall since it premiered in 2011, so this is a tradition for longtime fans of the series.

As previously mentioned, Ryan Murphy is still bringing chilling TV content to fans. A new season of Monster is arriving in early October for those with a Netflix subscription, this time centering around suspected serial killer Ed Gein. And a fourth season focused on Lizzie Borden is already in the works. Still, longtime fans of the entertainment mogul are hoping for more AHS sooner rather than later. Preferably with Sarah Paulson playing yet another iconic character.

In a worst case scenerio, American Horror Story could end up joining a list of other Ryan Murphy shows that have either been cancelled or let on in definite hold. Ratched was cancelled by Netflix despite originally being ordered for two seasons, while fans are still hoping to see more of The Politician and/or Hollywood. Hopefully the future of AHS becomes clear sooner rather than later.

Who knows? Perhaps a new season is already in the works and Sarah Paulson was just being cheeky with her comments. Only time will tell, but it's clear that there's fan interest about the future of the long-running anthology series. Either way, Murphy is bringing new horror content to the small screen this October, which something I can definitely get behind.

Great actors don't need a lot of makeup or total body transformations to improve their performance, but when you get the combination of a great and those things, the effect can be amazing. Sometimes the effect is so good the actors become completely unrecognizable, like the examples in this list where actors like Jared Leto and Gary Oldman were completely transformed for roles.

Jared Leto - House Of Gucci

It's fair to say that House Of Gucci was, at best, an uneven movie. It was a daunting challenge for everyone involved and none more so than Jared Leto. Leto played the legendary Paolo Gucci, and while his accent was a little shaky, his look and his mannerisms were completely on point. It's one heck of a transformation.

Charlize Theron - Monster

There is no more intense transformation for a role than Charlize Theron's performance as real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster. Theron completely embodies the monster that Wuoronos was, while also subtly allowing the audience to understand how the killer became the way she was. Theron rightfully won an Academy Award for her portrayal of the brutal murderer.

Christian Bale - Vice

Christian Bale is one of the best actors of his generation and he's never been afraid to alter his look for a performance. The Machinist is one excellent example, but even that transformation pales in comparison to the way he completely became Dick Cheney in Vice. Not only does he look just like the former vice president, but he nails his speech pattern and mannerisms as well. It's remarkable.

Lily James - Pam & Tommy

When Lily James was cast as Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy it raised a few eyebrows. The actress seemed like a complete opposite in every way, especially her looks, as the blonde bombshell. Yet, when the movie came out, people were amazed at how well James pulled it off. No, it's not the best movie, but James was the spitting image of Anderson.

Gary Oldman - True Romance

One actor who is truly a master of disguise is Gary Oldman. He seemingly looks completely different in almost every role he plays. One of the most astounding transformations was early in his career when he played a pimp in True Romance. He literally looks and sounds nothing like himself in the film, to the point where if you didn't know it was him, you'd never guess.

Jessica Chastain - The Eyes of Tammy Faye

You know when a film wins the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Best Actress, the role is going to be special. Such is the case for Jessica Chastain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Chastain is completely unrecognizable in the role of the wife of the infamous Jim Bakker and is simply incredible in the movie.

Margot Robbie - I, Tonya

Turning Margot Robbie into a street tough figure skater like Tonya Harding is no easy feet. Through a combination of incredible makeup work and even better acting, Robbie completely disappears into the notorious skater made famous for her part in attacking her rival Nancy Kerrigan before the 1994 Olympics.

Glenn Close - Hook

Steven Spielberg's 1991 Hook isn't generally remembered as the legendary director's best work, but it is chock full of fun cameos and one of the hardest to spot is Glenn Close. The actress plays one of the pirates on Captain Hook's ship and if you don't look closely, you'll never notice the multiple Oscar nominee under the beard and makeup turning her into a male pirate.

Tilda Swinton - Trainwreck

The most remarkable thing about Tilda Swinton's transformation in the rom-com Trainwreck is just how conventional she looks. Swinton has one of the most unique looks in Hollywood and most of the time that look is enhanced by the roles she plays, it's part of what makes her so great. Her "normal" look in Trainwreck is made remarkable by that,

Mike Myers - Bohemian Rhapsody

Mike Myers took a long hiatus from acting in the 2010s and when he returned in Bohemian Rhapsody, audiences had to do a triple-check to make sure it was him in the role of a record executive arguing with Queen about the song that the movie is named after. With sunglasses and a full blonde beard, Myers looked nothing like his normal sense and his performance was excellent.

Colin Farrell - The Batman/The Penguin

When the trailer first dropped for The Batman, people were astounded at how Colin Farrell looked as Penguin. When the movie came out and we all watched his performance, it was even more shocking (in a great way). When he took the role to HBO for the TV show named after the character, we were all completely lost in it, because he was just so great. Though he says the suit and makeup aren't worth it, we have a feeling he'll be back as the Gotham-based villain.

50 Cent - All Things Fall Apart

50 Cent has proven to be quite the actor. The rapper has branched out into producing, even. Perhaps his best performance was as the fallen football star in All Things Fall Apart. His body transformation to play a pro athlete in peak physical condition who falls victim to cancer is incredible

Sarah Paulson - Impeachment: American Crime Story

Sarah Paulson knows how to completely disappear into a role. She was as incredible as Marsha Clark in The People Vs. OJ Simpson and she was even more remarkable as Linda Tripp in Impeachment: American Crime Story. Seriously, if you didn't know it was her, you'd never guess. She looks more like Tripp than Paulson in every way.

Billy Bob Thornton In U-Turn

Billy Bob Thorton is one of the most fun actors to watch in everything he is in. Take, for example, his role in Sling Blade, in which he looks completely different from himself. Another fine example is as the mechanic in U-Turn with Sean Penn. If it wasn't for his distinctive voice, you'd never know it was him.

Eddie Murphy - Coming To America

For a while there, Eddie Murphy made it his job to look completely different in his movies like The Nutty Professor, but at no point in any of those movies did he transform quite like he did to play the Jewish guy who hung out in the barbershop in Coming To America. Even his role as the barber in the movie was more recognizable. We also have to give props to Arsenio Hall for his various roles in the movie as well.

Mia Goth - X

Mia Goth playing the elderly Pearl in X is fantastic. Though you can tell it's her as Maxine, if you just walked in on the movie as those scenes of her as the older Pearl was playing, you'd never know who it is.

Tom Hardy - Bronson

Tom Hardy has never been shy about taking on challenging roles that require him to transform completely. He changes so much, that you almost feel like you don't know what he actually looks like in real life. Bronson is one of his finest transformations as he looks way more like the notorious British prisoner than like himself in the movie. It's so much more than just a mustache, that's for sure.

Donnie Wahlberg - The Sixth Sense

Mark Wahlberg may be the more famous brother, but Donnie Wahlberg also has some incredible acting chops and his performance comes in his minor-ish role in The Sixth Sense. It's clear that the former (and current) New Kid On The Block lost a ton of weight for his haunting performance in the movie.

Steve Carell - Foxcatcher

Murderer John du Pont of the famous du Pont family was a unique-looking guy. In Foxcatcher, Steve Carell completely embodies that uniqueness, It's almost unsettling how much Carell looks like du Pont and not like himself in the disturbing movie about the murder the scion of the wealthy family committed in 1997.

Cate Blanchett — I’m Not There

The legendary Bob Dylan has been played on screen a few times and remarkably the actor that pulled off his look and mannerism best is the amazing Cate Blanchett in I’m Not There. Leto's performance as Mark David Chapman is incredible and even though the movie has flown under the radar for years, it's worth seeking out just to see how different Leto can look from himself.

Missi Pyle - Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

How do you take a beautiful woman like Missi Pyle and make her look like a deranged Eastern European dodgeball player? Ask the makeup department for Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. The work they did, along with Pyle's acting, was amazing. There's no way to know it was her in any way unless you double-check the credits.

Sebastian Stan - A Different Man

A Different Man tells the hilarious and heartwarming tale of a struggling actor with a condition known as neurofibromatosis. Sebastian Stan plays the actor under a whole ton of wonderful makeup and despite the obvious limitation that makeup puts on the actor, Stan puts in a career-defining performance.

Chris Hemsworth - Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

While it isn't the most extreme example on this list, Chris Hemsworth's look in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is amazing. The only reason you really know it's him is that he uses his natural Aussie accent in the movie, which he doesn't do all that much these days. He's even won awards for the performance!

Ryan Reynolds - Blade: Trinity

Okay, we'll admit this isn't the biggest transformation on this list, but you can't deny that Ryan Reynolds has a completely different, more sinister look in Blade: Trinity. It's way different from what you expect from a standard Reynolds performance.

Nicole Kidman - Birth

Nicole Kidman is an amazing actress, but she's not one of those actors you expect to completely change her look for a role. Her part in Birth shows that she certainly can do that, and do it in spectacular ways.

Robert De Niro - Raging Bull

Robert De Niro famously put on a ton of weight for his role as Al Capone in The Untouchables. He also got completely jacked for Cape Fear. He did both for his incredible performance in Raging Bull. As a young Jake LaMotta he was cut and fit and as an older version of the boxer, he was flabby and overweight. Either way, De Niro looks less like himself and more like the real-life boxer. He certainly deserved the Oscar he won for the role.

Margot Robbie - Mary, Queen of Scots

Mary, Queen of Scots had a unique look that was only enhanced by the odd style of 16th Century Scotland. Still, Margot Robbie nails the look of the queen in a way that leaves the audience squinted to see if it's really the Australian actress.

Gary Oldman - The Darkest Hour

No one transforms quite like Gary Oldman. He's completely different in every role he plays and in The Darkest Hour, he completely embodies his role as Winston Churchill. It's not just the makeup, though that is perfect, it's also the voice and mannerisms he brings to the role that makes you believe you're actually watching the legendary prime minister.

Charlize Theron - Bombshell

Bombshell is one of those movies where you might think you're watching the real-life characters that the cast of Bombshell are playing. Charlize Theron's portrayal of former Fox News reporter Megyn Kelly tops the performances. It's pitch-perfect in every way.

With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 slated to soon speed into movie theaters, anticipation is building for the return of fan-favorite characters and the possible debut of new ones in the upcoming video game adaptation. The star-studded Sonic 3 cast, including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, are already confirmed to return. Even more exciting, joining the lineup is Keanu Reeves as the anti-hero Shadow the Hedgehog. Another name being tossed around recently in fan circles is American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson, who many have speculated could turn up in a secret role. Well, here’s what the actress had to say about the subject.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com promoting her upcoming horror movie Hold Your Breath, Paulson addressed the swirling speculation that she had been cast as Rouge the Bat in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The Ryan Murphy frequent collaborator quickly debunked the rumors—though she would love the opportunity to be involved in the project. In her words:

Sarah Paulson's playful but straightforward response is bound to catch the attention of Sonic fans who’ve already imagined her as the sleek and cunning Rouge the Bat. Though the rumor likely started from a fan-made edit or a rogue Wiki update, it gained enough momentum for the Glass star to step in and set the record straight.

While we’re all waiting to see where Sonic the Hedgehog 3 takes the franchise, it’s hard to ignore the series's massive legacy. With its roots in Sega's rich history, spanning countless video games, comics, TV shows, and now movies, there’s plenty of room for future installments. If the series continues—and with Sarah enthusiastically on board—someone needs to make that call and bring her into the Sonic universe!

Fans won’t hear Paulson as Rouge the Bat in Sonic’s third cinematic outing, but the movie is still expected to introduce new characters from the beloved video game universe. Rouge remains a possibility, though no official word has been released about who, if anyone, will voice her.

Meanwhile, Sarah Paulson's next project, Hold Your Breath, will hit streaming soon and be available to anyone with a Hulu subscription. Set during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, the film follows the Ratched star’s character as she contends with a sinister force threatening her family. The movie is set for the 2024 movie schedule, releasing on October 3rd.

As for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, it releases on December 20th.

Actors who do TV and movies are the ones that get all the press but before that, there was the theater, which is still very popular among actors and audiences. We frequently hear about big stars going to see a show and hanging out backstage after the fact. It turns out that is a pretty rigid stage tradition, although for Sarah Paulson it once didn’t turn out so well.

Paulson recently appeared on the Smartless podcast where the tradition of celebs visiting the cast of a show came up. While Paulson's American Horror Story characters are likely what she's best known for, she's done her share of stage work as well. It seems that celebrities are expected to visit with the cast, not doing so is seen as an indication they must not have liked the play. Normally, to keep the peace, actors don't throw other actors under the bus. Rebecca Ferguson recently mentioned a bad experience she had with an actor on set but never mentioned their name. Nobody would have blamed Sarah Paulson for talking about what happened without naming names, but apparently, she is so upset by what happened she doesn't care.

Trish Hawkins is a Broadway veteran who originated the role in Talley’s Folly that Sarah Paulson had played in the show. Apparently, Hawkins was a friend of Paulson’s mother and was her guest that night.

Paulson says the interaction began with Hawkins remarking that the dress that Paulson had worn on stage was a different color than the one the original star had worn in her production, which was a sign this interaction wasn’t going to go well. She explained to the hosts that, had she asked for feedback on performance, that would have been one thing, but she did not, and would not have. 

Sarah Paulson is an amazing actress. Paulson's movie and TV roles are considerable and always impressive. She’s an Emmy winner, who is currently nominated for a Tony award. Stephen King has praised her ability to do horror. Nobody needs to worry too hard about the choices she makes in her performances. She clearly knows what she’s doing.

The Amazon original series, Mr. & Mrs. Smith finally debuted on the streaming platform in February 2024, and the small-screen reimagining of the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Joie action comedy, is getting a lot of praise from critics. While a lot of that attention has been focused on series leads Donald Glover and Maya Erskine’s John and Jane Smith, there has also been a lot of buzz about the various guest stars who appeared throughout the show’s first eight episodes. Maybe because the cast list is absolutely stacked!

If you’ve watched the new 2024 TV show and are wondering why some of those familiar faces look so familiar, stick around, because we’re about to break down all the Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 guest stars…

Alexander Skarsgård (Other John)

Before Donald Glover and Maya Erskine’s titular characters show up on Mr. & Mrs. Smith, we are introduced to a team of spies played by Alexander Skarsgård and Eiza González. The mysterious couple isn’t around all that long and they don’t even get a chance to finish their final bottle of wine before being taken out by a pair of mysterious killers. Before his brief portrayal, Skarsgård made a name for himself on shows like True Blood and Big Little Lies.

Eiza González (Other Jane)

Eiza González’s Jane makes it a little longer than her John, but not by much, as the mysterious spy is killed off four minutes into the first episode. Probably best known for her roles in Baby Driver, Hobbs & Shaw, and Ambulance, González has also appeared on shows like From Dusk till Dawn: The Series and Extrapolations.

Paul Dano (Harris, A.K.A. ‘Hot Neighbor’)

Paul Dano appears briefly throughout Season 1, and you would think that his character, Harris, a.k.a., “Hot Neighbor,” would be some kind of villain. But no, the architect who lives next to John and Jane Smith is just simply obsessed with their brownstone and how they afford such a place. Dano does give off some creepy vibes like characters in several of his best movies like The Batman, Prisoners, and There Will Be Blood.

John Turturro (Eric Shane)

John Turturro, who has been in some of the best Coen Brothers movies over the years, shows up in the second episode of Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 as Eric Shane, a wealthy and eccentric billionaire real estate mogul who becomes the titular couple’s target. But he isn’t around long, as a botched mission ends with this wild character in a compost bin. In addition to playing iconic movie characters, Turturro has also appeared on a long list of TV shows that includes The Plot Against America, The Night Of, Severance, and Monk, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award.

Sharon Horgan (Gavol Martin)

Catastrophe star and co-creator Sharon Horgan shows up in the third episode as Gavol Martin, a successful businesswoman who becomes John and Jane’s latest target when they’re on a luxurious skiing holiday in the Italian Dolomites. But, things don’t according to plan on what ends up being a tense and thrilling vacation, as Gavol finds herself in a delicate and dangerous situation. Horgan has also appeared on shows like Bad Sisters, HouseBroken, and Disenchantment in recent years.

Billy Campbell (Parker Martin)

Billy Campbell also appears in the third episode of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Season 1, and he can be seen playing Gavol Martin’s frustrated husband, Parker, who has grown tired of his wife’s workaholic and demeaning personality. If Campbell looks familiar, it could have something to do with the fact that he famously played Clifford Secord in Joe Dante’s The Rocketeer, a Disney movie that deserves a sequel. More recently, Campbell has landed roles on shows like Cardinal, Helix, FBI, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

Parker Posey (Other Jane)

We meet a third set of John and Jane Smiths halfway through Mr. & Mrs. Smith, a couple that initially seems like a friendly, well-meaning pair of spies. But as we learn throughout the show, looks are often deceiving, and that’s the case for Parker Posey’s Jane. Prior to taking on the role of the cold-hearted killer, Posey appeared in some of the best ‘90s movies like Dazed and Confused, You’ve Got Mail, and Party Girl, to name a few. More recently, Posey has given great small-screen performances on The Staircase, Lost in Space, and Tales of the Walking Dead.

Wagner Moura (Other John)

Wagner Moura appears as the John to Parker Posey’s Jane and one part of the dastardly duo tasked with taking out other killers from the shadowy organization. Moura, who will show up in A24’s Civil War later in 2024, is best known for his work on shows like Narcos and Narcos: Mexico where he played Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Fans of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish should recognize Moura’s voice from his portrayal of the Wolf, a.k.a., one of the best DreamWorks Animation villains to date.

Úrsula Corberó (Runi)

One of the briefest guest appearances during Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 1 belongs to Úrsula Corberó, who shows up as John Smith’s ex-girlfriend, Runi. If you recognized the actress from her shot time at the farmer’s market it could have something to do with her portrayal of Silene Oliveira on the popular Netflix streaming series, Money Heist. 

Ron Perlman (Toby)

Ron Perlman has one of the wildest and most over-the-top guest spots during Season 1 when he shows up as a man named Toby, who has to be rescued and protected by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine’s characters in Lake Como. Though his character is a major departure from roles he had on Sons of Anarchy and Hand of God, the Hellboy and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts actor is just as charismatic and hilarious on the new Amazon series.

Sarah Paulson (Couples Therapist)

Another great Mr. & Mrs. Smith guest spot belongs to Sarah Paulson, who shows up in the final third of the season as John and Jane Smith’s quirky couples therapist. A nice touch to the cast, Paulson makes the most of her short time on screen and gives a genuinely hilarious performance. It’s quite different from her Ratched and various American Horror Story characters, which makes the guest role so much more fun.

Michaela Coel (Bev)

Michaela Coel shows up as Bev, a rival spy whom Jane initially believes is John’s hook-up buddy near the tail end of the show’s first season. Throughout her career, Coel has done everything from appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Dora Milaje warrior Aneka to creating and starring in her own black comedy series, I May Destroy You, and showing up in two of the best Black Mirror episodes.

The Bear cast is made up of colorful and unique characters, from the loud-mouthed Richie and the more cool-headed Sydney, to the eager-to-learn Marcus and the veteran chef Tina. At the center of this kitchen-based craziness is Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy Berzatto, the award-winning chef who returned to Chicago to take over his brother’s restaurant, and as of the Season 2 finale is now running a new dining establishment.

As Hulu subscribers know all too well, Carmy keeps a wide circle of people in his life, between the members of his family, which are comprised of both blood relatives and longtime friends, as well as the staff he works with on a daily basis and various other individuals with whom he has special ties. We’re here to talk about these most prominent of The Bear characters while we wait for news on The Bear Season 3 and continue relishing how the show netted six wins at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Berzatto Siblings

Every primary character in The Bear is tied to the Berzatto siblings in one form or another, and in the main cast, Carmy is joined by his sister, Abby Elliot’s Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto. Then there’s their brother, Jon Bernthal’s Michael “Mikey” Berzatto, who died by suicide four months before the events of the series premiere episode. We’ve gotten to spend some time with Mikey thanks to some flashbacks in Season 1 and the tense “Fishes” episode from Season 2, and in the present day, Carmy and Sugar are co-owners of The Bear restaurant, which finally opened in the same-named Season 2 finale.

“Cousin” Richie And His Ex-Wife Tiffany

Although not tied to the Berzattos by blood, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Richard “Richie” Jerimovich has been tight with this family for many years thanks to having been Mikey’s best friend. He even admits in “Forks” that Donna Berzatto was more like a mother to him than his own mother, so he’s more than earned the right to be called “Cousin” throughout the show. Then there’s Tiffany, Richie’s wife played by Gillian Jacobs. The two were still married in “Fishes” and had their daughter Eva shortly thereafter, but they’re divorced in the present days, and in “Forks,” Tiffany told Richie that she was engaged to a man named Frank.

Sydney, Marcus and Tina - The Bear’s Core Kitchen Staff

They’re not members of the Berzatto family, but these characters certainly aren’t important to The Bear’s narrative. Chief among this particular trio is Ayo Edebiri’s Sydney Adabu, who joined The Beef as a sous-chef at the start of the show after her catering business failed. After The Beef fell under, she stuck around to help develop The Bear restaurant, becoming its chef de cuisine. Lionel Bryce’s Marcus and Liza Colón-Zayas’s Tina Marrero worked at The Beef back when Mikey was still alive, meaning they go way back with Carmy too. At The Beef, Marcus is in charge of deserts and Tina works as the sous-chef.

Ebraheim And Sweeps - Other Important Kitchen Staff Members

Although Edwin Lee Gibson and Corey Hendrix’s characters aren’t series regulars like the other kitchen staff, they’re nonetheless important members of The Bear, with both Ebraheim and Gary “Sweeps” Woods also having been around at The Beef when Mikey was running it. Granted, Ebraheim did disappear when he and Tina were tasked to go to culinary school in Season 2, but he eventually resurfaced and has resumed his duties. Hopefully these two will have more prominent roles in Season 3.

“Uncle” Jimmy And His Wife Carol

Jimmy “Cicero” Kalinowski was the best friend of Carmy, Sugar and Mikey’s dad when he was still alive, hence why he’s referred to them, as well as Richie, as “Uncle.” He loaned Mikey $300,000 for The Beef, and even after that unspent money was finally found, he lent an additional $500,000 to Carmy, Sugar and Sydney for The Bear, though the restaurant has to pay off the $800,000 debt within 18 months time. Jimmy is married to Maura Kidwell’s Carol, who can briefly be seen in a few episodes.

Pete - Sugar’s Husband

If The Bear has a consistent punching bag, it’s Pete, Sugar’s husband who’s played by Chris Witaske. He means well and is consistently trying to impress, but he’s nonetheless the target of many jabs, insults and teases from his wife’s family members and friends. Pete did get a chance to shine in the Season 2 finale when he noticed Donna (who we’ll talk about next) outside the restaurant and tried to get her to come in. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, and to make matters worse, Pete accidentally revealed to his mother-in-law that he and Sugar were having a baby, something he assumed Donna already knew about, but wasn’t the case.

Donna - Carmy, Sugar And Mikey’s Mother

In “Fishes,” we met Jamie Lee Curtis’ Donna, Carmy, Sugar and Mikey’s mother who was preparing the Christmas dinner that year for her extended family (there’s a wild story behind the actress getting the role). It soon became clear that Donna was in trouble between her erratic mood shifts and alcoholism, and by the end of the episode, she crashed her car into the house. In the Season 2 finale, Donna showed up at the opening of The Bear restaurant, but only interacted with Pete, as she decided at the last minute that she didn’t deserve to witness her children’s success, plus was taken aback by the news about the baby.

Brothers Neil And Theodore Fak

Like Richie, Neil Fak, played by Matty Matheson (a real-life chef), is a childhood friend of Mikey Berzatto, but he and Richie were constantly at odds with one another, and that hasn’t changed in adulthood. As a mechanic, Neil was often around The Beef to fix things up, and he played an integral role in the construction of The Bear. We spent some time with Neil’s brother Theodore, played by Ricky Staffieri, in the episodes “Fishes,” “Omelette” and “The Bear.”

Michelle - The Berzatto Siblings’ Cousin

Sarah Paulson guest-starred in “Fishes” as Michelle Berzatto, cousin to the Berzatto siblings. In addition to being one of the many witnesses to that night’s craziness, she approached Carmy about staying with her in New York in order to get some distance from his nuclear family. While we know Carmy did move to The Big Apple and became a sous chef at a three-star Michelin restaurant, it’s unclear if he took Michelle up on her offer.

Stevie - Michelle’s Boyfriend

Michelle brought her boyfriend Stevie along for the family dinner in “Fishes,” and you could tell John Mulaney’s character was easily entertained by everyone around him up until the actual meal started. This included Neil and Theodore hitting him up for money with their investment in baseball cards. It’s unclear if Stevie and Michelle are still together during the show’s present day events.

“Uncle” Lee

Although Bob Odenkirk’s “Uncle” Lee Lane is Jimmy’s business partner and Donna’s on-and-off again boyfriend, he’s a far cry from being the most beloved member of the family. He and Mikey got into an ugly spat in “Fishes,” which was prompted by Lee giving him grief about sharing the same story over and over again. This escalated later when Mikey started throwing forks at Lee during the meal, prompting Odenkirk’s character to start insulting Mikey’s life choices, addiction problem and more. In the present day, Carmy doesn’t think highly enough of Lee to consider him an “uncle.”

Claire, A.K.A. Claire-Bear

Molly Gordon’s Claire, a.k.a. Claire-Bear, was pretty close with the Berzattos, Faks and Richie when she was growing up, enough to the point that she referred to Richie as “cousin” during Season 2. However, she started to drift apart from them as they all got older, and she eventually became a resident in emergency medicine. She and Carmy were particularly close in their youth, and while Mikey and Richie tried to set them back up together in “Fishes,” they didn’t reconnect until Season 2. Unfortunately, the two appear to now be broken up due to what happened in the Season 2 finale, though that’s not to say we’ll never see Claire again.

Seeing A-list celebrities on SNL is certainly nothing out of the ordinary, considering there is a different one hosting the show each week, even including non-actors who end up nailing it. Lorne Michaels and company have still managed to shock the Studio 8H audience numerous times by bringing out a public figure whom no one could have guessed was going to be part of the show. The following are some of our all-time favorite Saturday Night Live celebrity cameos.

Leonardo DiCaprio (Season 39)

In Jonah Hill’s third SNL monologue, the Academy Award nominee is bombarded by questions about working with Leonardo DiCaprio before trying to convince the audience that the future Oscar winner was not even supposed to be in The Wolf of Wall Street initially. Just then, the Titanic cast member himself walks on to knock some sense into his co-star before agreeing to recreate the famous “We’re flying!” scene from the Best Picture Oscar winner. 

Barack Obama (Season 33)

In the cold open for SNL’s 2007 Halloween show, a spooky party hosted by Bill (Darrell Hammond) and Hilary Clinton (Amy Poehler) is crashed by an unexpected guest in a Barack Obama mask. The stranger removes the rubber face to reveal he is actually the future 44th President of the United States in the flesh.

Barbra Streisand (Season 17)

A recurring topic in Mike Myers’ “Coffee Talk” sketches was Linda Richman’s obsession with Barbra Streisand, who shocked the host and her guests (played by Madonna and Roseanne Barr) by briefly walking on the set to greet them in one sketch. According to Barbra Archives, Myers had been informed that the Oscar-winning Funny Girl star might show up, but Madonna and Barr’s shocked reactions were completely genuine.

Robert De Niro (Season 26)

Academy Award winner Robert De Niro never hosted SNL until 2002, but made multiple surprise appearances beforehand, such as the time he showed up on “Weekend Update.” The cameo was in response to Jimmy Fallon’s unfavorable review of 2000’s Meet the Parents, which Fallon tries to defend with his impersonation of the acting legend, who turns the tables by imitating him at the end.

Kel Mitchell (Season 48)

A pre-taped segment imagines a reboot of the classic Nickelodeon comedy, Kenan & Kel, but with host Keke Palmer as a new character named Kelly. However, the bit ends wonderfully with an appearance of Kenan Thompson’s original co-star, Kel Mitchell, who actually auditioned for SNL once before, to no avail

Judge Judy (Season 24)

Cheri Oteri made an impact on SNL in a short time with memorable characters and hilarious impersonations — especially that of Judge Judy. However, the honorable TV personality herself proved that no one “rules” like the original when she interrupted one of Oteri’s parodies of her court show.

Sarah Paulson (Season 48)

In a sketch poking fun at his internet persona, host Pedro Pascal plays a teacher whose students have made viral videos honoring him as a surrogate “daddy” and another teacher name Ms. Jenny as “mommy.” Entering the room to the crowd’s surprise as Ms. Jenny is the Last of Us cast member’s good friend, Emmy winner Sarah Paulson.

Taylor Swift (Season 49)

Even after her boyfriend — one of the funniest pro athletes to host SNL, Travis Kelce — made a surprise appearance in the same episode (hosted by Pete Davidson), no one anticipated Taylor Swift would show up in the Season 48 opener to introduce musical guest Ice Spice’s second performance. Reportedly, neither of these cameos were planned and were put together last minute when the Grammy-winning superstar and Kansas City Chiefs tight end happened to show up at 30 Rock.

Jason Momoa (Season 45)

In a courtroom-style sketch starring Chance the Rapper as a judge who rules purely by first impressions, one of the defendants is played by Jason Momoa, who already has the host in stitches with his ridiculous wardrobe. However, the Aquaman actor suddenly cannot stop laughing after accidentally referring to himself as a “paraplegic,” when he meant to say “paralegal.”

Eminem (Season 46)

Pete Davidson plays a young man named Stu who writes a series of increasingly erratic letters asking Santa Claus (Jason Bateman) for a PlayStation 5 in this holiday parody of “Stan” by Eminem. As we learn at the end of the bit (which original video star Devon Sawa loved), the Real Slim Shady is the one who ended up getting the PS5 under his tree.

The Property Brothers And Tony Hawk (Season 48)

Kenan Thompson plays the host of an international beauty pageant that is close to going off the rails when he makes note of the random selection of Property Brothers’ Drew and Jonathan Scott and Tony Hawk as the judges before introducing them. Much to the surprise of Thompson’s character (and the audience), the twin renovation reality show stars and the pro skateboarder are appearing as themselves.

Jeff Probst (Season 48)

At first, the only joke this wedding-set sketch has going for it is the repeated utterance of the word “Joker," in reference to the best man’s choice of Halloween costume, modeled after Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. What transcends the SNL sketch from terrible to amazing is when Survivor host Jeff Probst shows up to announce if the guests voted in favor of the best man (Andrew Dismukes) keeping on his makeup or in favor of the bride (Heidi Gardner), who thinks his costume has ruined the ceremony.

Conan O'Brien (Season 47) 

When John Mulaney’s induction into SNL’s Five-Timers Club doesn’t seem to be going well, with veterans like Steve Martin and Candice Bergen believing he doesn’t fit the quality standards, coming to his aid is none other than Conan O’Brien. The beloved late-night host-turned-podcaster’s surprise appearance was not only special because he starred in the first Five-Timers Club sketch while working as a writer, but because he previously severed ties with NBC after 2010’s embarrassing Tonight Show debacle.

The Hunger Games Cast (Season 40) 

After starting his third SNL monologue with a song about the year 1989 modeled after Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” Woody Harrelson is suddenly joined by his Hunger Games movies co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. When Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence shows up, Harrelson initially mistakes her for “the real Taylor Swift.”

Eugene Levy (Season 46) 

Host Dan Levy offers a glimpse of what Studio 8H looks like backstage in a post-Covid environment. During the tour, he is shocked to learn his father and fellow Schitt’s Creek cast member, Eugene Levy, flew from L.A. to New York to support him, but pandemic protocols have forced the comedian to watch the show from a clear, protective case.

Matt Damon (Season 44)

Matt Damon is the face behind many of the most amazing celebrity cameos in movies, but the Oscar-winning writer and star of Good Will Hunting has worked his magic on the small screen as well. For instance: his surprise appearance on SNL as Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in a hilarious cold open recreating his senate hearing.

Julia Stiles (Season 49)

On “Weekend Update,” Chloe Fineman demonstrates her most romantic holiday gift idea: recreating the balletic performance from the end of one of the best dance movies, Save the Last Dance. Fineman and the crowd are suddenly starstruck when the film’s star, Julia Stiles, shows up to help bring the tribute to a grand finale.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Season 14)

When an overly excited Danny DeVito interrupts his monologue and requests to re-do the show’s opening, he asks his good friend and Twins co-star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to launch things with the famous catchphrase while he is sitting in the audience. The Terminator movies star would show up in the episode again to pay a visit to his cousins, Hans (Dana Carvey) and Franz (Kevin Nealon).

Bryan Cranston (Season 42) 

In a funny cold open, CNN reporter Jake Tapper announces that then-President Donald Trump has selected a new head of the DEA. The person in question is former high school chemistry teacher Walter White, played by former Breaking Bad cast member Bryan Cranston reprising his legendary, multi-Emmy-winning role.

Paul McCartney (Season 32) 

This sketch is already crawling with amazing cameos when Alec Baldwin, in the Platinum Lounge at SNL’s Five-Timers Club, runs into Martin Short (working as a server) and Steve Martin, who attempts to murder his It’s Complicated co-star under the impression he is tying his hosting record. However, the biggest surprise comes when Paul McCartney walks in, whom Martin initially mistakes for fellow club member, Paul Simon. 

Melissa McCarthy (Season 42)

One of SNL’s all-time best hosts, Melissa McCarthy, showed up to play then-White House press secretary Sean Spicer during an episode hosted by Kristen Stewart. While then-President Donald Trump did not care for the sketch, Spicer did not seem bothered by the impersonation (save McCarthy’s amount of gum chewing), and the big became one of SNL’s most popular YouTube clips, later inspiring the Oscar nominee to reprise the role once more.

The Office Cast (Season 44)

When an audience member interrupts Steve Carell’s third SNL monologue to ask if an Office reboot is in the works, he initially says the beloved NBC sitcom might be best left alone. However, fellow Office cast members Ellie Kemper, Ed Helms, and Jenna Fischer pop in to convince him otherwise.

Barry Gibb (Season 39)

Arguably Jimmy Fallon’s single funniest SNL sketch is “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” in which he and Justin Timberlake, as Bee Gees members Barry and Robin Gibb, discuss pressing topics with public figures. One of the later editions featured Madonna appearing as herself, but when the real Barry Gibb shows up at the very end is an all-time classic moment.

Larry David (Season 41)

While he never was an SNL cast member (but did perform sketch comedy on Fridays), Larry David had a brief stint at Studio 8H as a writer years before returning to the show in a legendary way. In a cold open recreating the 2016 Election’s Democratic presidential debate, the Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator drove the crowd crazy with his first of many appearances as Bernie Sanders, who, it turns out, is a distant cousin of the comedian, as they would later discover (per Time). 

Brad Pitt (Season 24)

Brad Pitt is, surprisingly, one of many celebrities who have never hosted SNL, but he has popped in on the show a couple of times. The first time was in a cold open for an episode hosted by David Spade, as the Tommy Boy actor’s therapist, for some reason.

Alex Trebek (Season 27)

One of SNL’s best “Celebrity Jeopardy!” sketches comes from Will Ferrell’s final episode as a cast member, particularly for the surprise guest at the very end. After Ferrell’s Alex Trebek announces the “Final Jeopardy!,” the real, late Alex Trebek appears to bid his impersonate adieu.

James Gandolfini (Season 30)

When reporting on then-New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey’s scandal on “Weekend Update,” Amy Poehler and Tina Fey introduce a native to New York’s neighboring state to comment on the topic. The guest turns out to be played by the late James Gandolfini of the Sopranos cast fame, whose commentary turns out to be filled with stereotypes at the expense of his own community and others.

Chris Rock (Season 42)

A highlight of Dave Chappelle’s Emmy-winning debut hosting gig was the appearance of his friend and collaborator, Chris Rock. The ‘90s SNL icon shows up in a sketch set on the night of the 2016 Presidential Election to bond with Chappelle’s character over their anticipation of the inevitable results.

Jake Gyllenhaal (Season 45)

One of the most dazzling cameos in one of John Mulaney’s best comedy specials, John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, was Jake Gyllenhaal as Mr. Music. The Academy Award nominee later reunited with the beloved comedian in one of Mulaney’s best musical SNL sketches as a pajama-clad traveler at LaGuardia Airport.

Janet Reno (Season 26)

Before Jane Lynch played Janet Reno in a true crime series, she was portrayed by Will Ferrell on SNL for years in “Janet Reno’s  Dance Party.” The final edition of the hard-partying sketch, amid the end of Reno’s sting as U.S. Attorney General, went out with a bang when the real Reno crashed through the wall to greet her doppelganger.

Mick Jagger (Season 49)

Musician and actor Bad Bunny’s SNL hosting debut was pretty cameo-heavy, including appearances by Pedro Pascal, former cast member Fred Armisen, and Lady Gaga. However, it was Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger who brought the house down with his bewildering parts in two sketches — first as a telenovela actor and later as a man posing as a nun.

Mark Zuckerberg (Season 36)

Host Jesse Eisenberg’s monologue is interrupted by Andy Samberg’s impersonation of Mark Zuckerberg, whom Eisenberg portrayed to Academy Award-nominated acclaim in the Social Network cast in 2010. Little do they know that the real Facebook founder is backstage, but goes against Lorne Michaels’ suggestions and joins Eisenberg onstage for an “awkberg” first meeting.

Sometimes what makes SNL really fun is waiting to see which celebrities might show up for a surprise appearance this time.

Matthew Perry’s death at 54 is still weighing heavily on numerous fans who enjoyed his work as well as a number of the countless actors he worked with over the years. When it comes to the latter group, many have been taking the time to share their memories of him. A sum of them remembered Perry not only for his sharp sense of humor but also for his kindness. Sarah Paulson added to the chorus of praise for the late comedian and gave fans an idea of his generosity through a story she told. Paulson worked with him on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which was a gig the actress said she needed “desperately” at the time. And as it turns out, Perry showed up for her in a big (and very sweet) way when it came to the audition process.

Today, Sarah Paulson is arguably one of the most accomplished actors working in the entertainment industry. She’s been consistently booked and busy with movies and TV shows and, thanks to the latter, she has a Primetime Emmy. Ahead of that though, she was apparently in need of work around the time Studio 60 was coming together. Paulson mentioned that on The View, when she was asked how she’d remember Matthew Perry. She said that she’d remember him as a “generous” person, before explaining how he helped her prepare for her audition:

If that’s not a true friend, then I don’t know what is. That was an incredibly affable gesture on the 17 Again alum’s part. Hollywood is a tough town, and it can be tough for actors to navigate those choppy waters while circling roles. So to say that he gave Sarah Paulson a serious leg up would be an understatement. Ultimately, the Aaron Sorkin-created Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip only lasted one season that aired from 2006 to 2007 on NBC. Despite that brief run, it would appear that Paulson and her late co-star forged an enduring friendship. Paulson also explained one of the loveliest aspects of being friends with the comic: 

Among the other stars who’ve honored Matthew Perry are his fellow Friends stars, who initially released a joint statement. In time, individual tributes from Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer and the rest of the tight-knit group were also shared. Like the American Horror Story vet, they highlighted Perry’s warmth and humor when discussing him. Hank Azaria, who guest-starred on the sitcom, referred to the late star as a “hilarious, hilarious man.” Those who’ve watched Perry’s best movies and TV shows can probably attest to his on-screen charm, which helped make the NBC staple what it was. 

Sarah Paulson’s story is just another example of just how special a person the Good Wife alum was. It definitely sounds like he touched a number of people’s lives during his time on this planet. Hollywood and society as a whole are poorer for not having him, but it’s sweet that Paulson and other stars are keeping his memory alive by sharing sweet anecdotes.

Over the course of Taylor Swift’s U.S. leg of the Eras Tour, we’ve seen tons of celebrities in attendance. Emma Stone, Laura Dern and more supported her on opening weekend, and people like Paul Rudd and Aaron Rodgers went to see her in New Jersey. However, Los Angeles might take the cake when it comes to celebrity sightings as Alexandra Daddario, Brie Larson and a whole murderer’s row of celebs showed up for the pop star’s first show in the City of Angels. 

Alexandra Daddario and her friend looked like they were having the best time at the Eras Tour based on the photo she posted on her Instagram story. While they didn’t go all out with the outfits, I noticed that the actress was wearing a New York hat and her friend was rocking a red lip, which is very 1989 of them. Along with that, The White Lotus star also had an adorable friendship bracelet on, check it out:

Brie Larson was also at the event with Casamigos, and she appeared to bring a plus one too. The actress and her friend were both smiling ear-to-ear in the photo she posted to her IG stories, and you can just tell they had a blast at Taylor Swift’s concert:

Along with posting her own selfie, Larson also uploaded photos and videos of other celebs who were in the same box as the Academy Award winner. It really was an overwhelming ensemble of award-winning celebs as she posted images of Emmy-winner Sarah Paulson and fellow Oscar winner and Marvel star Lupita Nyong’o. 

Sarah Paulson’s friendship bracelet game seemed to be on point, and her outfit was adorable. Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o was living it up in her Lover era as she exchanged handmade jewelry with her fellow actress.

We also know the Black Panther star put in the work to make her friendship bracelets, because she posted this amusing TikTok before heading to SoFi Stadium.

Along with these fabulous actresses, there were tons of other famous folks at Swift’s first concert of six in Los Angeles. Taylor Lautner (the girl) went for a second time after going with her husband in Kansas City. Vanessa Bryant and her kids got the real star treatment as he daughter received the “22” hat. Also, Community’s Danny Pudi attended with his daughter. You can see the actor’s adorable Instagram story below:

While many celebrities are seen in a VIP tent or up in a box, Pudi was in the stands with his daughter. Last weekend, we saw Josh Gad attend the Eras Tour in the same way as he posted a fun photo from the stadium seating too. 

The first night of Swift’s LA stop truly had a stacked cast of celebs in attendance, and I assume this will happen again as she plays five more shows in the home of television and movies. American Horror Story is one of those shows that has run for some time, and over that timeframe, there have been many stories, characters, and so much more – and I’ve been there to see it all.

The Ryan Murphy-created series has had twelve seasons that have taken place in a multitude of different locations. The cast has always changed, bringing in new actors and characters for each story. But, there are several actors for this anthology series who have been in many seasons, which is what we’ll be going over today.

Evan Peters (9)

There are a few people I instantly think of when American Horror Story pops up in my mind, and one of them is Evan Peters.

The actor has been making even more of a name for himself the last few years, starring in shows such as Dahmer, where he was praised for his performance for Jeffrey Dahmer, as well as being a major part of the Mare of Easttown cast, which led to him winning an Emmy.

Believe it or not, Peters has been in nine seasons of AHS. This includes Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse and Double Feature. He’s arguably one of the most known names from this series, and for good reason – his acting has always been fantastic.

Sarah Paulson (9)

The next person I always think of when it comes to this show is Sarah Paulson. There’s plenty to watch if you love Sarah Paulson, but she’s also appeared in nine seasons like Peters. Her seasons are Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse, and Double Feature.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen either of these two actors in a season, but maybe, in the future, we just might be able to see them return.

Lily Rabe (9)

Lily Rabe is another actress who has been in many seasons of American Horror Story – nine to be exact, just like Paulson and Peters. Her seasons are Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Apocalypse, 1984, and Double Feature.

Rabe has also appeared in a few other projects, including her part in the Love & Death cast and in Presumed Innocent in 2024, but I always loved her in AHS.

Francis Conroy (8)

Francis Conroy is another actor who's been in the show since the very first season. Her seasons are Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse, and Double Feature.

My personal favorite season of hers was Coven. There’s just something about her playing Myrtle Snow that always makes me love her even more. It’s also been a few years since we have seen her in the show, so hopefully she'll return before much longer.

Denis O’Hare (8)

The next actor on this list that we’re going to talk about is Denis O’Hare, who has been in a total of eight seasons. O’Hare has played a variety of roles across his seasons so far, which are Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Double Feature, NYC, and Delicate.

O’Hare was also a part of the Season 2 cast of American Horror Stories, another Murphy-created show, so it’s clear that he’s a pretty big mainstay in the series.

Emma Roberts (6)

Emma Roberts is the first actress on this list that wasn’t featured in the first season, but her characters have certainly made an impact on AHS. Roberts has appeared in a total of six aired seasons so far.

These are Coven, Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse, 1984 and Delicate. Personally, I have always loved Roberts in this show. While it’s awesome that she has been doing her own thing and appearing in many small horror films, such as Nerve, it’s great to see her in the latest seasons.

Billie Lourd (6)

Billie Lourd was another actress who didn’t start appearing in American Horror Story until much later on, but is steadily becoming one of the most reliable actresses for the series.

Her parts in the show include seasons such as Cult, Apocalypse, 1984, Double Feature, NYC and Delicate. making her overall total so far as five. Lourd, in my eyes, is becoming another awesome Scream Queen.

Leslie Grossman (6)

Leslie Grossman also came a little later in AHS’s lifespan, but her characters have truly made a serious impact, from some that you literally hate more than anything to characters that are truly sinister.

Grossman’s appearances are in Cult, Apocalypse, 1984, Double Feature, NYC and Delicate.

Adina Porter (5)

Porter is one of those actresses who has been around since the beginning, but she had such a long hiatus from the series that you wouldn’t have ever expected to see her again.

She first appeared in Murder House way back in 2011, but then didn’t appear again in the series until Roanoke. She had parts in two later seasons – Cult and Apocalypse, and then also appeared in Double Feature.

Kathy Bates (5)

I honestly think Kathy Bates has become another queen of horror since she had such an iconic role in Misery back in the 1990s – and truthfully, there have been so many amazing Kathy Bates movies since then. But, believe it or not, I was actually first introduced to Bates in American Horror Story, way back when I was a wee little girl.

Alright, well, maybe not little, but a teenager. Either way, Bates has appeared in a total of five seasons: Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, and Apocalypse. Truthfully, she’s one of the few actors from the earlier seasons that I miss the most, because she was always a force on screen, but I suppose I can just return to older seasons to watch her.

Jamie Brewer (5)

Jamie Brewer’s characters were always the ones that I genuinely loved the heck out of, because they are either incredibly creepy or some of the sweetest people ever – talk about a spectacular range. Brewer has appeared in a total of five seasons.

These are Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, Cult and Apocalypse. She also appeared on American Horror Stories, but what I wouldn’t give to see her again in the new season. I always loved watching her on screen, no matter what role she performed.

Finn Wittrock (5)

Finn Wittrock is one of those actors that truly made a mark when he was on the show. He is, yet again, one of the few on this list who was not in the original season (Murder House), but his characters in American Horror Story have truly become legends of their own, and his seasons are some of the best.

Wittrock has appeared in a total of five seasons: Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, 1984, and Double Feature.

Jessica Lange (5)

Another actress that I believe everyone thinks of when it comes to American Horror Story is Jessica Lange. While she was only in five seasons, Lange was arguably the main character of the first four seasons, creating very compelling stories and giving performances that truly rocked the world of television horror.

The actress is a legend who has been in many movies and television shows throughout her decades in the industry, but her time in AHS will always be remembered as great. Her seasons are Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, and Apocalypse. While I doubt we’re going to see Lange in another, it’s always incredible to revisit some of the best seasons of the show with her performance in them.

Angela Bassett (5)

Last, but not least, we need to talk about Angela Bassett. The actress has been swimming in movies the last few years, becoming a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even earning a historic Academy Award nomination for her role in it. There are so many awesome Angela Bassett movies from earlier in her career, like Vampire in Brooklyn, Waiting to Exhale, Malcolm X, and many more.

Bassett had pretty big roles for five seasons (Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Cult, and Apocalypse), where she played a few characters that I still think about to this day. While she may have only been in a handful of seasons, she truly made her mark on the show, and I miss her dearly.

With so many incredible actors, it’s not that surprising to see how many have appeared in multiple seasons of the series. While Season 13 is confirmed, we don’t know who the actors that are coming back will be, but we’ll be sure to update this when that’s confirmed. I’ll just go back and rewatch some of the older seasons to relive the glory days.

Glass and Unbreakable director M. Night Shyamalan enjoyed yet another Number 1 opening when Knock at the Cabin dethroned Avatar at the box office and posted a healthy $14.2 million in domestic tickets sold. Critics raved about the performances in the film, particularly that of Shyamalan newcomer Dave Bautista, who countered his intimidating physical presence with a soft and understated line delivery that suited his gentle character. Here’s hoping for more collaborations between the Guardians of the Galaxy star and Shyamalan, as the director often reteams with actors he enjoys, be it Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Joaquin Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard, or James McAvoy. And yet, Shyamalan told us the actor he has only worked with once that he’s dying to reteam with, and I think it’s an incredible idea.

M. Night Shyamalan was a guest on CinemaBlend’s official ReelBlend podcast, and spoke about the process on bringing Knock at the Cabin to the screen. But during the conversation, he opened up about an actor he has only worked with once that he wishes he could work with again soon. The filmmaker replied:

You might be reading this and wondering which movie Sarah Paulson worked on with M. Night Shyamalan, and that’s because their collaboration was marketed heavily on the three stars in the lead: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy. Their 2019 movie Glass was positioned as the long-awaited sequel to Unbreakable, bringing Willis’s superhero back into contact with his nemesis, Mr. Glass (Jackson). But the encounter took place in a psychiatric hospital, and Paulson played the therapist trying to determine if the men were suffering from delusions of grandeur – or if they actually possessed super powers.

Glass didn’t get the best reviews in the world, but Sarah Paulson was a standout as the doctor working with these unusual patients. There’s a twist regarding her involvement in the plot. This is Shyamalan. Of course there’s a twist. And she does a tremendous job of hiding it. I'd love it if Paulson somehow managed to become a stable part of Shyamalan’s troupe of go-to performers, the way that she is for Ryan Murphy on television.

At the same time, there are numerous actors who have excelled in an M. Night Shyamalan movie and not returned, from Toni Collette (so brilliant in The Sixth Sense) and Mel Gibson (Signs) to the recent work of Thomasin McKenzie in the beach thriller Old. There’s still time for all of these actors. So long as Night keeps delivering Number 1 movies at the box office, Hollywood will find time for his stories, and these actors should be ready to go when the call comes in.   

Ryan Murphy is one of the most notable television producers working today. He is the mastermind behind FOX's Glee, 9-1-1, and Scream Queens, and has produced a number of series for FX, including American Horror Story and American Crime Story, as well as Pose. In 2018, Murphy signed a $300 million deal with Netflix that resulted in a number of successful shows for the streamer, like The Politician, Ratched, and most recently Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher. The latter two are a couple of the most popular series streaming right now.

There are several reasons for Murphy's success, including genre-bending entertainment, kooky characters, and outlandish storytelling that always intrigues. However, many cite his casts and frequent collaborators for tending to elevate the material. Here is a list of some of the most frequent and reliable collaborators who Murphy relies on for his fan-favorite television series.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson seems to find her way into almost every Ryan Murphy-produced endeavor. She has played a variety of characters on almost every season of American Horror Story, excluding Season 9, 1984. Her roles on the anthology series have ranged from a starring role as Ana Winters in Asylum and Roanoke, to a guest appearance in Murder House. 

She also starred in the hit Netflix show, Ratched, and American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson, for which she won an Emmy for playing lawyer Marcia Clark. In addition, Paulson played supporting roles in Feud: Bette and Joan, and American Crime Story: Impeachment, for which she received yet another Emmy nomination. The actress has collaborated with Murphy since the very beginning, when she played a guest role on Nip/Tuck. 

Evan Peters

Evan Peters is yet another darling of Murphy's. He has starred in nine seasons of American Horror Story, only excluding 1984 and New York City. Like Paulson, Peters' AHS roles have ranged from centerpiece characters like Tate from Murder House, to more experimental seasons like Cult and Apocalypse where the actor has portrayed multiple characters throughout. 

He also acted as a producer for the Double Feature season. In addition to AHS, Peters plays Stan Bowes, a member of the Trump Organization on the FX series, Pose.  Most notably, he plays the titular role in Netflix's Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. 

Darren Criss

Darren Criss has been a Murphy favorite since his Glee performance as Blaine, the a cappella-singing love interest to Chris Colfer's Kurt. He switched things up by following that with The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, where he played the leading role, serial killer Andrew Cunanan. His performance was critically acclaimed and he swept the awards' circuit. He went on to work with Murphy again in Hollywood. In addition, Criss guest starred in an episode of AHS: Hotel.

Jessica Lange

Jessica Lange is yet another favorite. The Oscar winning actress has participated in five seasons of American Horror Story, most notably, Murder House, Coven, Freak Show, and Asylum, and makes a guest appearance in Apocalypse. She also had a starring role in FX's Feud: Bette and Joan, where she played Joan Crawford. In addition, Lange plays the cunning grandmother to Zoey Deutch in The Politician. She is also set to star in another Murphy-led project about Marlene Dietrich for Netflix, so even if she's done with AHS, there is more Lange/Murphy to come. 

Emma Roberts

Nothing says Ryan Murphy like Emma Roberts, who is yet another American Horror Story alum. She participated in five seasons of the FX show, including Coven, Freak Show, Apocalypse, and 1984, while also making a single episode appearance in Cult. In addition, Roberts was the lead in the sorority horror show, Scream Queens, which ran for three seasons. 

Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates is yet another Oscar winner who caught Murphy's eye. The Misery actress starred in five seasons of American Horror Story, including her iconic, bone-chilling character in Coven, for which she won an Emmy, and the fan-favorite evil concierge, Iris, in Hotel. Bates also continued her collaboration by playing Joan Blondell in Feud: Bette and Joan.

Dylan McDermott

Dylan McDermott is another familiar face for Murphy fans. The actor is one of the original stars of American Horror Story, and participated in five seasons, including AHS: Asylum. He is best known for his performance as the father of a problematic family in Murder House, which the season is centered around. He also plays a scandalous gas-station owner in the Murphy-produced Hollywood and makes an appearance in Netflix's The Politician.

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett is another favorite of the creator's. She is the star of FOX's 9-1-1, where she plays the badass Athena Grant. She has also made an appearance on the spin-off show, 9-1-1: Lone Star. In addition, Basset has been in a grand total of five seasons of American Horror Story. Most notably, in Coven, she portrays a fictionalized version Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. She reprised the role for Apocalypse. 

Finn Wittrock

Finn Wittrock has found his way into numerous Murphy projects, including five seasons of American Horror Story. He made his AHS debut in Freak Show, where his incredibly disturbed character earned him an Emmy nomination. He has gone on to appear in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Netflix's Ratched. In addition, he plays a supporting role in the Murphy-directed television film, The Normal Heart. 

Patti LuPone

Nobody loves Broadway like Murphy, so it makes sense that Patti LuPone would be featured in many of his projects. LuPone participated in two seasons of American Horror Story, Coven and NYC, as well as more glamorous roles in Pose and Hollywood. The Broadway legend also makes a cameo appearance in Glee, where she plays herself.  

Matt Bomer

Who doesn't love Matt Bomer? Ryan Murphy sure does. The White Collar star has made a number of appearances in the showrunner's projects, including three seasons of American Horror Story. He had small roles in Freak Show and Stories, and most notably had a major role as Lady Gaga's lover in Hotel. Bomer has a major role in The Normal Heart and Boys in the Band, and makes brief appearances in The New Normal and Glee. He also got behind the camera, directing an episode of American Crime Story: Versace. 

Leslie Grossman

Leslie Grossman has worked with Ryan Murphy since the early days of Nip/Tuck. The actress had minor roles in his short-lived series, Popular, and The New Normal, and additionally starred in five seasons of American Horror Story, and has had leading roles in every season she's been in. She continues to be apart of the show, and was a definite stand out in the Season 11 cast.

Jim Parsons

When Jim Parsons left The Big Bang Theory, he made it a point to work with Ryan Murphy. The actor has had starring roles in films like The Boys in the Band and The Normal Heart, and plays the predatory manager to Rock Hudson in Netflix's Hollywood. The role was something very different for Parsons, but Murphy has a talent for drawing out performances from actors playing against type. 

Billie Lourd

Billie Lourd is another young actress Murphy has taken under his wing. The Star Wars actress started her collaboration with the producer in Scream Queens, where she played one of the killer sorority girls. She subsequently starred in six seasons of American Horror Story, playing a main role in most, including NYC, the most recent season. 

Connie Britton

Before The White Lotus, Connie Britton was a staple in the Ryan Murphy Universe. She is most known for her performance as Vivien Harmon in Murder House, a role she reprised in Apocalypse that landed her an Emmy nomination. She was also a fan favorite in 9-1-1, where she played a 911 operator. In addition, she played Faye Resnick, a friend of Nicole Brown Simpson in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story. 

Lea Michele

Some would say Ryan Murphy made Lea Michele a star when he cast her as Rachel Berry in the musical teen comedy, Glee. She became one of the most recognizable stars from the show, and the role earned her both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. She also dawned a neck brace as an unconventional sorority girl in Scream Queens. 

Clearly Murphy has his favorites, and continues to work with the same reliable, talented actors in order to make his projects as binge-worthy as possible. In the role of President Bill Clinton, the head of state who is charged with perjury and is impeached during his time in office, Clive Owen plays the man at the center of this nationwide scandal in Impeachment: American Crime Story. Previously, Owen was Emmy-nominated for playing Ernest Hemingway in HBO's Hemingway & Gellhorn. The actor also starred in Cinemax's excellent The Knick, for which he was Golden Globe-nominated, and Apple TV+'s Lisey's Story. Next, Owen will star in Monsieur Spade.

Additionally, away from television, Owen was Oscar-nominated for his performance in Closer. He also won a Golden Globe for his lead role in Croupier. Owen's other notable film credits include Children of Men, Inside Man, Sin City, The International, Close My Eyes, Shoot 'Em Up, King Arthur, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Gosford Park, Gemini Man, The Song of Names, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Playing the part of Linda Tripp, an American civil servant who secretly recorded Monica Lewinsky and President Bill Clinton's intimate phone conversations, Sarah Paulson is an important, inciting character in FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, Paulson won an Emmy for her portrayal of Marcia Clark in The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. She was also nominated for several American Horror Story seasons, including Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, and Cult. Additionally, Paulson gave an Emmy-nominated performance as Nicolle Wallace in HBO's Game Change.

In addition to the shows listed above, Sarah Paulson worked with Ryan Murphy on FX's Feud: Bette and Joan and Netflix's Ratched. As Paula Jones, an Arkansas state employee who sued President Bill Clinton for sexual harassment, Annaleigh Ashford plays one of the central women in the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal in Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, the actress won a Tony award for her Broadway performance in You Can't Take It With You. Ashford's other Broadway credits include Kinky Boots, Sylvia, Sunday in the Park with George, Wicked, and Hair. Outside of theater, Ashford is known for playing Betty DiMello in Showtime's Masters of Sex. She also currently stars in CBS's B Positive. Additionally, Ashford appeared in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and had recurring roles in God Friended Me, Younger, Unbelievable, and Smash. Last year, the actress was seen in The Undoing and The Good Fight and she was heard in Q-Force.

Elsewhere, Annaleigh Ashford appeared in Rachel Getting Married, Sex and the City, Unicorn Store, Late Night, Top Five, and last year's A Rainy Day in New York and HBO's Bad Education. She was also heard in Frozen. Next, Ashford stars in American Reject.

Margo Martindale (Lucianne Goldberg)

In the role of Lucianne Goldberg, the literary agent who coerced Linda Tripp into taping Monica's phone calls, Margo Martindale plays a key counsel in FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, Martindale won an Emmy for her standout performance as Mags Bennett in FX's Justified. She also won two Emmys for playing Claudia in The Americans. Furthermore, Martindale played Ruth Eastman in The Good Wife and The Good Fight and Audrey Bernhardt in Sneaky Pete. She also starred in Hulu's Mrs. America. Martindale's other TV credits include Your Honor, The Millers, Dexter, and The Riches. Additionally, as a voice actress, she can be heard in DuckTales, Infinity Train, and BoJack Horseman, where she played an outlandish version of herself.

Edie Falco (Hillary Clinton)

Playing the part of Hillary Clinton, the disgruntled First Lady to her salacious president husband, Edie Falco gets a standout role in Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, Falco is acclaimed for her masterful portrayal as Carmela Soprano in HBO's The Sopranos, for which she won three Emmys. She also won an Emmy for her title role in Showtime's Nurse Jackie. Additionally, Falco was Emmy-nominated for NBC's 30 Rock and NBC's Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders. Her other TV credits include Horace & Pete, Tommy, Oz, Law & Order, and Homicide: Life on the Street.

Away from TV, Edie Falco was Tony-nominated for her lead performance in Broadway's The House of Blue Leaves. Her notable film credits include Laws of Gravity, Judy Berlin, Sunshine State, Freedomland, The Comedian, Bullets Over Broadway, Cop Land, Landline, The Quiet, Megan Leavey, Private Parts, and The Land of Steady Habits. Billy Eichner (Matt Drudge)

As Matt Drudge, the founder of the eponymous political publication, Drudge Report, Billy Eichner plays the reporter who broke the news of the scandal of the Lewinsky cheating scandal in FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, Eichner is the star and creator of Funny or Die's Billy on the Street, which became truTV's show of the same name. He received three Emmy nominations. Additionally, Eichner played Billy Epstein in Hulu's Difficult People and Craig Middlebrooks in NBC's Parks and Recreation. He also worked with Ryan Murphy on American Horror Story: Cult and Apocalypse. Eichner's other notable TV credits include Bob's Burgers and Friends from College. Most recently, the actor-comedian guest-starred in Apple TV+'s Dickinson.

Furthermore, on the big screen, Billy Eichner voiced Timon in The Lion King (2019). He also appeared in Noelle, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Most Likely to Murder, Sleeping with Other People, and What Happens in Vegas. Elizabeth Reaser (Kathleen Willey)

Most notably, Smulders starred in CBS's long-running sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, in the role of Robin Scherbatsky. Additionally, the actress starred in ABC's short-lived Stumptown and Veritas: The Quest, as well as Netflix's Friends from College, and she played a recurring role in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Moreover, Smulders can be seen in The L Word and Andromeda.

Furthermore, in film, Cobie Smulders is a recurring presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Maria Hill. Judith Light (Susan Carpenter-McMillan)

In the role of Susan Carpenter-McMillan, the conservative spokesperson who headed Paula Jones' legal fund, Judith Light reunites with producer Ryan Murphy with FX's Impeachment: American Crime Story. Most notably, Light won two Daytime Emmys for her performance as Karen Wolek in ABC's One Life to Live. Additionally, Light received two Emmy nominations for playing Shelly Pfefferman in Amazon Prime's Transparent. She was also nominated for her work in ABC's Ugly Betty and FX's The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. Furthermore, Light appeared in Murphy's The Politician. The TV actress also starred in ABC's Who's the Boss? as Angela Bower and had a recurring role as Elizabeth Donnelly in NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Away from television, Judith Light won two consecutive Tonys for her performances in 2012's Other Desert Cities and 2013's The Assembled Parties. She was previously nominated for her lead role in Lombardi. Earlier this year, Light was seen in The Same Storm. Next, she'll appear in tick, tick ... BOOM!, The Menu, and Starz's Shining Vale.

Sarah Paulson is a staple in the world of American Horror Story. She shocked us as Lana Winters in Asylum, bewitched us as Cordelia Goode in Coven, and split our attention as Bette and Dot Tattler in Freak Show. It’s hard to imagine an AHS without her. 1984, the season between Apocalypse and the upcoming Double Feature, was the first in the show’s history to not feature Paulson. So it may shock some viewers to find out that there is one season of AHS that the actress wishes she’d sat out for.

On the latest episode of the podcast Awards Chatter with Scott Feinberg, Sarah Paulson admitted that, while she adores AHS and Ryan Murphy, there was a season of the show she wishes she could have skipped: Roanoke. She told Scott Feinberg:

Geez, Sarah Paulson, tell us how you really feel! All jokes aside, her reason for not loving Roanoke is pretty valid. Marcia Clark in American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson was a huge role for Sarah Paulson, earning her an Emmy Award, a SAG Award, and a Golden Globe. If she felt so fulfilled by the novel experience of American Crime Story, it isn’t a stretch to see how she could have felt let down by filming yet another season of AHS.

However, Sarah Paulson’s ennui didn’t stop her from joining the season of AHS after Roanoke: Cult, where she played restaurant owner Ally. So what changed between Roanoke and Cult? She explained:

All things considered, it makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy to hear that AHS feels like home for Sarah Paulson. Despite her feelings about Roanoke, she has always been part of what makes AHS such an iconic show. And she obviously has no hard feelings, considering she’s going to play a central character in Season 10 of AHS. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long to see Sarah Paulson back in her natural habitat.

It’s nice to see the Golden Globes go on despite what’s going on in the world, but I have to be honest here: most of it being a giant Zoom meeting didn't necessarily make the hours go by quicker. Still, there was a certain charm about seeing our favorite actors at home (or fancy hotels?) with their families. More importantly, the Globes put some of their pets into the spotlight and it was distracting in the best way. I’m already drifting off thinking about Watchmen’s Regina King and her pup.

The One Night In Miami nominee was displaying her beautiful gown, but we certainly got something special tonight beyond the usual red carpet shenanigans. Pets became a running perk of the night, with Sarah Paulson’s dog also making an appearance halfway through the show. Take a look:

The best part about being on Zoom all the time has been the rare animal sightings, so were we really surprised to see so many during the show? The very best doggo of the entire night was definitely Jodie Foster’s canine couch mate, who was lovingly at her side for her fourth Golden Globe win. Foster nabbed Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for The Mauritanian. Check it:

Jodie Foster accepted the award on her couch next to her wife, Alexandra Hedison, who was cozied up with the Silence of the Lambs actress in sleek pajamas. It became an immediate highlight of the night that had many ogling over Foster and her little family. As one Twitter user said:

After 17 seasons on the air (so far?), it really should come as no surprise that Grey’s Anatomy can boast a countless number of impressive guest stars, including many stars who can call the sexy medical drama one of their first gigs before becoming a household name. We decided to take on the challenge of identifying as many notable celebrities who appeared on the Shonda Rhimes hit before their big break or in a role small enough to have since fallen into obscurity. We came up with a staggering tally of 23 actors, starting with one beloved Emmy winner who knows a thing or two about playing a medical professional.

Sarah Paulson (Dr. Ellis Grey)

One year before American Horror Story’s 2011 premiere, Sarah Paulson appeared on Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Ellis Grey (Meredith’s mother) in an ‘80s flashback episode that sees her treat an AIDS patient at Seattle Grace when the disease was still new to the public. More recently the actress has played a psychiatrist from hell in Glass, a nurse from hell in Ratched, and also a mom from hell in the hit Hulu original Run.

John Cho (Dr. Marshall Stone)

To lead his acclaimed feature-length debut, Searching, Run director Aneesh Chaganty cast John Cho - also known as Sulu in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies. However, when he appeared on Grey’s Anatomy as a surgical intern in need of surgery after falling asleep at the wheel, the Korean-born actor’s defining role was Harold Lee in the 2004 cult comedy Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, whom he would reprise in two sequels.

Keke Palmer (Sheryll Jeffries)

Also known primarily for comedies (especially for children) was Keke Palmer, when she played a pregnant teen on Grey’s Anatomy’s tenth season. The 27-year-old actress and singer has since gone on to find darker work on horror series like MTV’s Scream and Ryan Murphy’s Scream Queens and played a con artist stripper in Hustlers opposite Jennifer Lopez.

Alanna Masterson (Hillary Boyd)

Another “scream queen” to appear on Grey’s Anatomy in her early days is Alanna Masterson, who is best known for playing Tara Chambler for five seasons of The Walking Dead. Her young, seemingly mature, one-off role on the medical drama put her through a different kind of horror when she took psychedelic mushrooms, tried to fly off her roof, and broke 52 bones.

Tessa Thompson (Camille Travis)

Like Alanna Masterson, Tessa Thompson is best known for a comic book role (Valkyrie in the MCU), as well as the Creed franchise, absurdist satire Sorry to Bother You, and high-concept sci-fi thriller Annihilation, to name just a few. Much earlier, in 2006, she played Richard Webber’s niece Camille Travis (later recast in Season 4 by Camille Winbush) before showing up in a different role on the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice, in 2009.

Dylan Minnette (Ryan)

Actor and musician Dylan Minnette also appeared on a second Shonda Rhimes hit (Scandal) years after he played a 9-year-old born without external ears on Grey’s Anatomy’s fourth season. The now 24-year-old star would go on to appear in horror movies of a light variety (Goosebumps) and a bleak variety (Don’t Breathe), as well as lead the cast of the teen drama 13 Reasons Why for Netflix.

Sydney Sweeney (Erin Weaver)

Speaking of dark teen dramas, the Emmy-winning HBO series Euphoria is 23-year-old Sydney Sweeney's biggest claim to fame yet, following her role opposite Amy Adams on Sharp Objects and a recurring spot on The Handmaid's Tale for Hulu. Earlier, in a heartbreaking Season 11 episode of Grey's Anatomy, she played the daughter of a man who discovers what he thought was heartburn is actually much worse.

Elisabeth Moss (Nina Rogerson)

Speaking of The Handmaid's Tale, Elisabeth Moss won an Emmy for her lead role on the dystopian drama after receiving several nominations for playing Peggy Olson on Mad Men. The star of acclaimed 2020 horror flick, The Invisible Man, previously appeared on Season 3 of Grey's Anatomy as a woman whose mother suffers from a strange condition that causes her bones to grow when experiencing trauma.

Justina Machado (Anna Nyles)

Also appearing on Grey's Anatomy's third season was actress Justina Machado as a new mother who initially assumes her breast cancer tumor was a clogged milk duct. The 48-year-old former Six Feet Under star later became better known as a nurse and mother on the cancelled Netflix sitcom One Day at a Time and more recently competed as a finalist on Dancing with the Stars.

Jesse Plemons (Jake Burton)

Netflix is also the home of several recent films starring Jesse Plemons, such as the Oscar-nominated The Irishman, Charlie Kaufman's I'm Thinking of Ending Things, and El Camino, in which he reprised his sociopathic Breaking Bad character, Todd. Right before landing his first starring role on Friday Night Lights, Plemons was almost completely unrecognizable in his Grey's Anatomy guest spot as a teen with a deadly brain tumor caused by a rare bone disorder.

Dean Norris (Vince)

Fellow Breaking Bad alum Dean Norris also made an early appearance on two episodes of Grey's Anatomy as a mechanic whose friend and colleague is injured in a ferry crash during Season 3. The 57-year-old acting veteran was later cast in the series adaptation of Stephen King's Under the Dome, landed a recurring spot on Shonda Rhimes' Scandal, and is currently preparing to reprise his role from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for the upcoming sequel.

Abigail Breslin (Megan Clover)

Dean Norris also briefly appears in acclaimed indie comedy Little Miss Sunshine, which earned then 10-year-old Abigail Breslin an Oscar nomination in 2007. Between her 2002 film debut in Signs and that later star-making moment, the future star of the Zombieland movies played a girl whose repeat visits to Seattle Grace brought up suspicions of her foster parents' treatment of her, before it was discovered that her insensitivity to pain was to blame for her frequent accidents.

Leslie Odom Jr. (P.J. Walling)

2020 Was a big year for Leslie Odom Jr. with Hamilton coming to Disney+, the animated musical series Central Park premiering on Apple TV+, and One Night in Miami hitting theaters in December. The actor and singer was still on his way to stardom when he appeared in a Grey's Anatomy episode with an intriguing DC connection as an, initially reluctant, donor in a domino kidney transplant, which Justice League Unlimited voice actors George Newbern (Superman) and Carl Lumbly (Martian Manhunter) are the recipients of.

Maggie Siff (Ruthie Sales)

Like most actors your can think of, Leslie Odom Jr. also appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, much just like Maggie Siff did after playing a woman suffering from osteoporosis on Season 4 of Grey's Anatomy. It would be one of the last of her many early TV guest spots before becoming a notable presence on series like FX's Sons of Anarchy, AMC's Mad Men, and most recently, Showtime's Billions.

Theo Rossi (Stan Giamatti)

Maggie Siff's Sons of Anarchy co-star Theo Rossi, who would go on to play Marvel villain Shades on Netflix's Luke Cage series, has also been a guest on Grey's Anatomy. In a tearjerker two-part episode from Season 4, he played a paramedic, and husband of a Seattle Grace radiologist, who becomes trapped with his partner and best friend after their ambulance collides with another once they've dropped off a patient.

Danielle Panabaker (Kelsey Simmons)

Speaking of TV comic book adaptations, The Flash star Danielle Panabaker was relatively well-known for movies like Disney's teen superhero comedy Sky High, and the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th before she starred in one Grey's Anatomy episode. In Season 6, her character is forced to spend Thanksgiving at Seattle Grace, where she becomes engaged to her boyfriend after successfully receiving a heart transplant.

Jurnee Smollett (Beth Monroe)

Speaking of DC adaptations, Birds of Prey star Jurnee Smollett was probably best known as Michelle Tanner's friend Denise Frazer on Full House years before she played the first survivor of a clinical tumor trial run by Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd, unlike her ill-fated boyfriend, in a two-part Grey's Anatomy episode. Today, the 34-year-old actress has numerous notable credits to her name, most recently the supernatural period drama, Lovecraft Country, on HBO.

Jamie Chung (Trina Paiz)

Jurnee Smollett's Lovecraft Country co-star Jamie Chung has also starred in several comic book adaptations, including Batman prequel series Gotham, the animated Big Hero 6, and its sequel series on Netlflix, the 2014 sequel to Sin City, and the infamous Dragonball Evolution, from 2009. The following year, the Korean actress (also a veteran of MTV's The Real World) played a newlywed forced to spend her honeymoon at Seattle Grace after she and her husband fall 100 feet into a ravine while mountain climbing.

Rachel Brosnahan (Brian Weston)

Her impressive recurring spot on House of Cards, and Emmy win for playing a female comedian in the 1960s in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has made Rachel Brosnahan one of the most sought after actresses of her generation. Much earlier in her career, the star of the new Amazon Prime original film I'm Your Woman played a young transgender man seeking to complete his sex reassignment surgery at Seattle Grace in Grey's Anatomy's ninth season.

David Denman (Rick Jacobs)

When David Denman appeared on Grey's Anatomy in 2007 as the victim of a faulty parachute, most audiences probably recognized him best from The Office, where he played former Dunder Mifflin employee and the ex-fiancé of Pam Beesly, Roy Anderson. He would later reunite with his old onscreen romantic rival John Krasinski in Michael Bay's 13 Hours, play the father of a Power Ranger, star in Steven Soderbergh's country-fried heist comedy Logan Lucky, and will next appear opposite Kate Winslet in the upcoming HBO mini-series Mare of Easttown.

Millie Bobby Brown (Ruby)

One of the most successful child stars in Hollywood today is British teenager Mille Bobby Brown, who most recently played the title role of Enola Holmes, and will soon reprise her Godzilla: King of the Monsters character in a film that pits the atomic reptile against King Kong. Just one year before first playing young psychokinetic, Eleven, on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Brown guest starred on Grey's Anatomy as a young girl receiving medical advice from Seattle Grace over the phone after an earthquake leaves her mother incapacitated at their remote cabin.

I think many would agree at this point that the casting of Sarah Paulson is enough to assure you are in for a good thriller. One of the top reasons viewers of American Horror Story keep coming back each season is to see what character she will play next and what she will bring to the role. Those very fans are probably the same people who made Run, her latest feature-length effort, the most watched movie on Hulu to date.

While film and TV projects of a spookier and more suspenseful variety certainly make up the bulk of the Tampa native’s filmography, you can not forget about her comparatively more positive credits, such as criminally fun comedies like Ocean’s 8, lavish throwbacks to romantic ’60s cinema like Down with Love, or even more historical period dramas like The Post, from director Steven Spielberg. In fact, I sifted through all the best-known streaming services I could think of and managed to conjure a list of 12 movies and TV shows every person who considers themselves a fan of Sarah Paulson should see. As you will probably expect, there are a good deal of thrillers among the following selection, such as this more recent flick that has acquired some killer ratings and killer reviews thanks a particularly killer premise, so to speak.

A real-life superhero (Bruce Willis) meets a villain with Dissociative Identity Disorder (James McAvoy) and reunites with his disabled former ally turned arch enemy (Samuel L. Jackson) at mental hospital where they begin to question the reality of their unusual abilities.

Why It's A Good Option for Sarah Paulson Fans: While not quite the sadist that Mildred Ratched is, Sara Paulson is still an effective antagonist as a psychiatrist trying to convince the main characters they are delusional in Glass, the final chapter of M. Night Shyamalan’s comic book-inspired trilogy first kicked off by Unbreakable in 2000 and followed by Split 17 years later.

Former NFL player and actor O.J. Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is put on trial for the June 1994 murders of his ex-wife and her friend.

Why It's A Good Option for Sarah Paulson Fans: Once again, Sarah Paulson makes a big impression in yet another adaptation of a bestselling novel here, in this case the 2019 Amazon Prime original film The Goldfinch in which she plays Xandra, who is dating young Theo Decker’s (Oakes Fegley) estranged father Larry (Luke Wilson) at the time of his mother’s tragic death.

Run is a rare thriller that keeps one guessing up until the very last frame. Once the credits crawl on Hulu’s biggest hit to date, the movie has chased us in circles and backed us into an odd corner. The inner monologue by the Run ending probably looked like: ‘Wait… no, that’s not how I wanted it to go?’ Thus, here we are. Let’s breakdown the wild twists at the end of Sarah Paulson’s latest memorable role about his spine-chilling ‘mother and daughter’ movie.

Before we get into how things shook out in Run, are you sure you’ve seen it? Don’t lie! (As if this movie didn’t give us enough trust issues, and over the holidays no less). What Happened At The End Of Run?

What starts as simple suspicion between a college-bound teen and her caregiver mother in terms of a new medication she’s been given, spins into the discovery of a lifelong lie the daughter finds out she’s been living. The initial clue Kiera Allen’s Chloe uncovers is that a green pill she is being prescribed that her mom (Sarah Paulson) has placed under her name and covered up is actually canine muscle relaxants. Following Chloe’s discovery, Diane locks her daughter in her room with a gardening tool. Chloe finds a way to break out of the house, but one poor mailman casualty later, she ends in the basement of her home chained up.

It’s there where Chloe learns that she is not the biological daughter of Diane. Chloe was a healthy baby who was stolen from the crib after Diane lost her own child after giving birth prematurely. As we can see in a photo from Chloe’s childhood, she was capable of walking on her own as a kid. Her ‘mother’ has therefore been giving her medication to give her the disabilities and medical conditions she was living with daily. Along with being wheelchair-bound, her condition includes clearing her throat each morning and applying lotion to rashes she has all over. In a last effort to save herself from mommy dearest, Chloe drinks a toxic chemical forcing Diane to take her to the hospital.

The Twist Of Hulu’s Run, Explained

Although it all cuts very close, Chloe’s plan at the hospital works. While Diane attempts to escape with her daughter back to their isolated home, she gets cornered by hospital police, is shot and falls down a flight of stairs at the scene. Run then cuts to seven years later at the Belfair Corrections Center For Women. Chloe still uses a wheelchair, but is able to walk a little bit with a cane for the security check. It looks like she has gotten married by her wedding ring on her left hand and has been working with a trainer to improve her walking capabilities.

She is there to visit a bed-ridden Diane and tells her about her young child who is currently learning to walk and clues the audience in that she also knows her own biological parents. It sounds like she got to go to the University of Washington after all, works with kids and overall has a happy life. But, somehow she’s still here visiting her lifetime abuser and calling her mom. She has a round of pills hidden in her mouth. She tells Diane she loves her and to “open wide” just before the credits roll. Uh… what? Chloe, sweetie, just move on with your life!

It’s a twisted ending. The story ends in revenge long after the events of the film. Chloe has not moved on, emotionally anyway. She visits her once a month to torture her with her life outside their isolated world she created and gives her the same muscle relaxers that still plagues her life today.

Why The Ending For Run Actually Makes Sense

Run is secretly a great example of the age-old psychology debate, nature vs. nurture. Although Chloe is not biologically related to Diane Sherman, she spent her whole life under her household, therefore no discovery about her actual lineage could mend a lifetime of learning and psychological and physical damage. Chloe grew up in a possessive household and therefore her turning the tables on her mom makes a lot of sense. Not to mention how it may actually strangely serve as an act of love to Diane, since it was how she thought she was doing the best for her daughter, in her own messed up way.

What Diane did to Chloe is an actual mental health problem and form of abuse called Munchausen Syndrome by proxy that is characterized by a caregiver lying about one’s symptoms, changing test results to make them appear ill and physically harming them to produce symptoms, per University of Michigan. It famously played out to Gypsy Rose Blanchard by her mother Dee Dee Blanchard, who was led to believe that she could not walk, had cancer and even underwent a series of surgeries as well. Gypsy Rose convinced her boyfriend to murder her mother after they correctly suspected what her mother had been doing to her since she was a child. The Gypsy Rose story was told with a 2017 HBO true-crime documentary and through the Hulu show with The Act. Not comparing blatant fiction with fact here – just for context, the story of Run isn’t pulled out of complete obscurity.

How Sarah Paulson And Kiera Allen Explain The Run Ending

Before we leave you to swallow the big pill that is Run’s conclusion, let’s dive into what the stars of the movie think about how the movie ended things. Sarah Paulson was asked by Collider if she believes the story would have been different for Diane if she had raised her own daughter. Here’s what the American Horror Story actress had to say:

Sounds about right. As we’ve seen, Munchausen Syndrome by proxy does not discriminate between the biological and non-biological. That aspect of the story not only adds to the twists and turns of Run, but also allows Chloe to have some form of happy ending at least. Kiera Allen, who is a wheelchair-user in her own life as well talked about Chloe’s ending to Decider with these words:

Allen also said that she believes that Chloe is de-compartmentalizing all her trauma into one person in her life, Diane, and believes that’s how Chloe justifies turning the abuse over to her.

Run is an edge-of-your-seat ride that gives Sarah Paulson another great genre role. But more memorably, it sets the stage for 22-year-old Kiera Allen, who gets to take the lead in her first movie ever. The filmmakers behind the movie that has become the most-watched Hulu original feature to date, decided to take the opportunity to seek out disabled actors for the role of Chloe Sherman, a wheelchair user with heavy dependence on her mother Diane (played by Paulson).

Actress Kiera Allen is a wheelchair user who has now become one of the few disabled actors to play one on film with Run. Before the new talent nabbed the role, the movie’s co-writer and producer, Sev Ohanian, recalled the lengths some took to get a co-star credit with American Horror Story horror queen Sarah Paulson. In his words:

Yikes! As Sev Ohanian told MovieMaker, before they found Kiera Allen, they came across two actors who actually pretended to be disabled for the audition in order to get the role. But thanks to social media screenings, they were not fooled for too long and ended up finding the perfect choice in Allen. I wish I could say I’m surprised here, but I’d imagine a lot of budding actors would go to great lengths to star in this major role, and next to one of the most talented and charismatic actors out there as your mother no less.

Even so, stories like this defeat the purpose of what a movie like Run can do for the disabled community. One in four U.S. adults have a disability that impacts major life activities, per the CDC. Yet in countless Hollywood movies about them in the past, able-bodied actors have been given these roles or it’s been improperly represented on screen. If you’ve seen Run, you know Kiera Allen has somewhat of a labor intensive role in the film, and yet she was able to perform these activities safely as a real wheelchair user. Allen recently talked to Harper’s Bazaar about her experience with the filmmakers:

Now look at that, Run made an impact on Kiera Allen before she had even been cast in the part. The movie definitely comes off as authentic despite its wild concept all thanks to some attention-to-detail from the filmmakers. Run was originally going to come to theaters back in spring pre-pandemic, but was swooped up by Hulu over the summer for straight-to-streaming. Is there an official Stephen King horror awards show yet? Well, there should be. The legendary novelist has created an empire for himself based on his creepy, crawly works, but since he’s had a Twitter account, he’s also been a certified resource to offer his opinions on what’s going on in the bloodstained corner of Hollywood. King has offered his stamp of approval for works such as Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Hill House or Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone reboot and ripped apart titles too, such as the TV adaptation Under the Dome. His latest comments revolve around the Hulu hit, Run.

Run dropped on Hulu on Friday to overwhelming viewership. The streaming service even announced the thriller had the most-watched opening ever for one of its original films. The surprising record beats a title previously held by the rom-com of the summer, Palm Springs. So what does Stephen King think of Run? Here’s what he tweeted out:

Quite immediately after Stephen King went to praise Run, the movie’s star Sarah Paulson responded in excitement, asking if she could “frame a tweet?” King’s words on the film are straightforward, but more than enough to send Paulson to Costco to get it blown up in her living room, or wherever she sets her many accolades including her Golden Globe, Emmy and Critics Choices awards. King’s highest praise is for the urgency of Run and describing the movie as “nerve-splintering terror.” Now, that’s a quote that’d look nice on a poster.

Run is co-written and directed by Aneesh Chaganty, a fairly new filmmaker who was just flung into the spotlight back in 2018 for Searching with John Cho. Of course the filmmaker saw the tweet too and had the only reaction you’d expect from a response like this. Take a look:

Hulu nabbed the film for distribution back in August and it’s timing to release it just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday could not be better timed. Of course, Sarah Paulson is already a huge name in the genre, between her recurring roles in American Horror Story and her recent show Ratched, a spinoff of The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.

At a tight hour and 30 minutes, Chloe unravels some secrets about her mother in the midst of waiting for a college acceptance letter in the mail. Streaming services are getting some major love lately. Between Netflix announcing Queen’s Gambit is now the most-watched limited series ever for the platform and Amazon Prime boasting major numbers for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, it’s apparently a good time to queue up new straight-to-streaming releases. Hulu now joins its competitors with a massive opening for the Sarah Paulson-led thriller Run.

Run was previously going to come to theaters on Mother’s Day weekend back in May to fit in, ironically, with the movie’s plot line about the twisted relationship between a mother (Paulson) and her homeschooled and wheelchair-bound teen daughter (Kiera Allen). Now that movie has come out just in time for quality time on edge with family. Sarah Paulson shared the incredible (and jump scare-like surprise) for the Hulu film.

Run has beat Palm Springs' summer streaming record and is now the most-watched original film ever during its opening weekend for Hulu since it dropped on Friday, November 20. As per usual in the streaming world, we don’t have the numbers here. The news comes straight from Hulu after the service purchased the film from Lionsgate in August. The movie is writer/director Aneesh Chaganty’s second film following his 2018 breakout with Searching.

Sarah Paulson is a huge name in horror between her recurring roles on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story anthology show and her recent starring role in Netflix’s The One Who Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest spinoff show Ratched. Run has debuted with all-around positive reception too, with CinemaBlend’s own Eric Eisenberg giving the film four out of five stars in his review of the film, among other high praise. He called it “one of the best and most surprising thrillers of the year.”

Run is not exactly a movie that one would expect right off the bat to beat this kind of record, but neither was Palm Springs. It goes to show that Hulu subscribers are latching on to these big-name, smart projects that would have headed to theaters if it were not for the circumstances more than anything else. Of course, it helps that Run is coming out during Thanksgiving week, just like Palm Springs debuted in the middle of summer.

On Wednesday, Hulu also has another big release coming with Happiest Season, a holiday rom-com that was recently picked up for streaming instead of going to theaters. The movie starring Kristen Stewart, MacKenzie Davis, Alison Brie, Dan Levy and Aubrey Plaza could very well make for another big win for Hulu coming hot off Run, but we’ll have to see, of course.

The sophomore effort has always been, and forever will be the ultimate high-wire act for exciting up-and-coming filmmakers. An eye-catching feature debut puts them on a pedestal, and their second effort determines whether or not the skills they demonstrated are legitimate or were just a fluke. The pressure can be crushing for some, but for others the opportunity serves as an awesome proving ground. In the case of writer/director Aneesh Chaganty, Run not only falls into the latter camp, but instantly makes one anticipate anything he has coming up next.

Chaganty first turned heads two years ago with Searching, which is a film that has weaknesses narratively, but is also impressive and ambitious in its ability to have an entire thriller play out across the screens of devices used by the characters. His follow-up doesn’t have a hook of a similar nature, but what it does do is craft a much stronger story, and keeps the audience perpetually on the edge waiting for the next disturbing, unexpected twist. Add in twin excellent performances from the always-great Sarah Paulson and newcomer Kiera Allen, and you have one of the best and most surprising thrillers of the year.

Run first introduces us to Diane Sherman (Paulson) shortly after she has given birth, with doctors working diligently to try and save the life of her incredibly small baby. Seventeen years later we are then introduced to Chloe (Allen), who lives with a number of conditions – including an irregular heartbeat, diabetes, asthma, and paraplegia – but is ready to start her independent life in college away from her mom. Publically Diane makes it seem like she is excited to see her daughter head off to a university after a life of home-schooling, but when they are alone she is overly controlling, and treats Chloe like a child.

It’s because of this patronizing that things begin to unravel, starting with Chloe making a daring attempt to sneak chocolates out of her mother’s groceries (treats that are only meant as a reward for low blood sugar test results after dinner). While attempting to cover her tracks she notices that there is a bottle of pills in the bag that is prescribed to Diane – and later that night one of those same pills is included in her round of medications. She takes it, but her suspicions mount.

Her contact with the outside world kept to a minimum, Chloe is forced to get creative when it comes to researching what it is that her mother is giving her. Ultimately she is successful, but what she discovers winds up being more shocking and horrifying than she could have ever imagined.

Run is a thriller that doesn’t settle for a solitary twist, but instead keeps you guessing throughout.

The biggest problem I had with Searching was that its central mystery didn’t function quite as well as it should have, with the pool of suspects kept too small to create any real ambiguity about the big third act twist. In Run, Aneesh Chaganty doesn’t make that same kind of mistake again, and his ability to avert it winds up being one of the movie’s greatest strengths. You may think you know where the plot is going based on the description provided above, and the truth is that you’re probably spot on – but the story doesn’t just settle there. Instead, that twist winds up serving as a platform to another twist, and then the cycle repeats again and again throughout until the very last second when it strikes with an impressive final punch.

The film is built on escalation with a few thrilling puzzles along the way, and it’s impressive how it continues to up the stakes while also being clever and creative.

Given the opportunity to move the camera, Aneesh Chaganty crafts some extra cool shots in Run.

Part of that puzzle element stems from the fact that Run is primarily limited to a single location – Diane and Chloe’s house – but the movie both makes inventive use of the space, and features smart and effective cinematography that enhances it. Teamed with cinematographer Hillary Spera, Aneesh Chaganty makes dynamic use of focus changes, zooms, and tracking shots, and just the lighting alone does a remarkable job transforming the look of the home from beginning to end. While a lot of writer/directors see their talents lean more heavily towards one or the other jobs, Chaganty is proving himself a full double-threat who is equally capable penning and staging a scene.

Sarah Paulson’s performance will get your heart racing, and Kiera Allen proves an exceptional young lead.

The icing on the cake is that both Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen deliver exemplary turns in what are sincerely complex roles. While she has some charming and sweet moments as Diane, Paulson also plays her with dashes of Baby Jane Hudson and Annie Wilkes, letting the character’s passionate love for her daughter serve as the only compass she needs as she is driven to some scary places. When the character is showing how far she’ll go, it’s freaky stuff.

Allen, meanwhile, is a remarkable find for this project. Run is her first feature film, and she not only bears the full narrative on her shoulders, but also the physical challenges of Chloe’s ailments. But you’d never suspect her lack of experience because she handles every aspect of the performance like a veteran star. Like Searching did for Aneesh Chaganty, Kiera Allen’s work here is going to get her a lot of attention.

Run is the exact kind of film that makes one miss theaters evermore, as it’s a movie made to elicit gasps and “oohs” from a packed crowd – but even just having that experience alone, with your spouse, your roommates, or your family makes it more than worth your time. It’s a thrilling late-2020 ride that affirms Aneesh Chaganty is the real deal.

Due to the current health crisis, many movies that were set to be released earlier this year have had to either push back their theatrical drops or switch to VOD/streaming offerings (or in Mulan’s case, a mixture of both). Sarah Paulson’s new horror movie, Run, has opted for the latter and is heading straight to Hulu.

Having originally been scheduled for a January release, Run was intended to hit theaters on May 8, but Lionsgate pulled it from the calendar in mid-March, around the same time plenty of other movies had to vacate their slots. Now Lionsgate has decided to partner with Hulu for Run’s domestic release, and the movie will be theatrically released in select international markets.

According to THR, there was “no shortage of suitors” for Run, but in the end, Hulu came out on top. There’s no word yet on when Run will premiere on Hulu, but here’s what director Aneesh Chaganty had to say about his movie joining the streaming service’s lineup:

For those who are unfamiliar with Run, it follows a manipulative mother, played by Sarah Paulson, who has raised her wheelchair-bound daughter, played by newcomer Kiera Allen, in total isolation. When the daughter starts to uncover some dark secrets about her mother, she must fight for survival. Along with his directing duties, Aneesh Chaganty also penned Run’s script with Sev Ohanian, with the two of them having previously worked on the John Cho-led thriller Searching.

Of course, Run is just the latest instance of Sarah Paulson jumping into the horror realm. Along with the actress playing various roles on FX’s American Horror Story over the last decade, she also popped up in last year’s hit Netflix movie Bird Box. Along with Run hitting Hulu sometime in the near future, Paulson can also been seen this September leading Netflix’s Ratched, the prequel series to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

While Hulu has been in the streaming game for a long time, have been integral for the service on the original movies front. Unfortunately, American Gothic, an acclaimed supernatural soap opera also starring a Gary Cole as a wickedly powerful sheriff, was cancelled by CBS in 1996 after only 22 episodes.

Annie (What Women Want)

In 2000, Sarah Paulson played Annie, the personal assistant to hot shot ad executive Nick Marshall, played by Mel Gibson, in What Women Want, which received a gender-swapped update in 2019. In this 1960s-style romantic comedy (but with a more honest depiction of the era's sexual politics), Sarah Paulson plays Vikki Hiller, the editor of a romance advice book for women by Barbara Novak (Renée Zellwegger), making herself the target of playboy journalist Catcher Block (Ewan McGregor) who sets to prove he can make her fall in love with him. Years after her brief medical role on Serenity, Sarah Paulson briefly appeared on the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy, but not as an original character. Speaking of programs that are narrated by a spirit, Sarah Paulson appeared in a pair of episodes of the fourth season of the primetime ABC soap opera Desperate Housewives. She played Lydia Lindquist, the youngest sister of Lynette Scavo, played by Felicity Huffman.

Mary Lee (Mud)

Sarah Paulson was a firsthand witness to the McConaissance, having co-starred in one of the films often credited as essential to the revolutionary era in the actor's career. In Jeff Nichols' Southern gothic drama Mud, Paulson plays Mary Lee, the mother of a teenage boy named Ellis (Tye Sheridan), who befriends the title character, unaware at first that he is a murderous fugitive.

Today, Ryan Murphy proved that his co-creation American Horror Story is the kind of project that will forever find ways to flip audiences upside-down and inside-out. Usually, it's the theming or specific plot elements that throw fans for a loop, but with the upcoming Season 10 set to hit FX later this year, Murphy did it with the casting. In revealing the full cast on social media, Murphy unveiled the perfect casting choice this franchise didn't know it was missing: Macaulay Culkin.

No other details about American Horror Story Season 10 were shared, but getting the full main cast confirmed is a very awesome update. This year will see several stars returning who were absent from AHS: 1984's camp serial killer chaos, and we can only hope the episode count jumps back up from the nine episodes that comprised the season. Below, we've rounded up all the stars fans can expect to see in Season 10, including that filthy animal Macaulay Culkin, the Home Alone vet himself.

Kathy Bates

The Oscar-winning Kathy Bates has graced the screen in five of the nine previous seasons of American Horror Story, with her standout character arguably being Coven's racially charged killer Madame Dalphine LaLaurie. Bates, who co-starred in the recent feature Richard Jewell, wasn't around for AHS: 1984, but she will return for her sixth appearance in Season 10.

Macaulay Culkin

Interestingly enough, Macaulay Culkin appears to be the only first-time American Horror Story actor in Season 10's main cast. (Probably necessary, since Season 9 brought in a host of new faces.) Always happy to avoid the spotlight, Culkin has popped up quite a bit in recent years, most recently cameoing on Kat Dennings' Hulu comedy Dollface. It's unclear if he'll have anything to do with that Home Alone reimagining, but here's hoping he'll be too busy with American Horror Story every year to make that happen.

Leslie Grossman

The star of Ryan Murphy's breakout TV series Popular, Leslie Grossman joined the American Horror Story stable of actors for Cult, and she followed that up with starring roles in Apocalypse and 1984, so it's no surprise she'll bring her signature attitude, humor and banging hairstyles to Season 10.

Billie Lourd

Considering Billie Lourd's placement within the Star Wars universe (both as Carrie Fisher's daughter and as Lieutenant Connix), one might think she'd be too busy to annually return to take part in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthologized American Horror Story. But then one would be underestimating how much fun Lourd is having within this bonkers universe. Lourd made her debut as Winter Anderson in Cult and kept the streak going in both successive seasons.

Sarah Paulson

American Horror Story's heir apparent to the initial golden child Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson unfortunately wasn't part of the cast for 1984, which was the very first season she didn't appear in. (She was busy filming another Ryan Murphy project, Netflix's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest redo, Ratched.) Thankfully, however, the actress kept her schedule open to allow for a most gracious return to AHS for Season 10.

Evan Peters

Along with Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters was the only American Horror Story cast member to take part in all of the first eight seasons. And also like Paulson, Peters' first season away from the interconnected atrocities happened during 1984. What will his return in Season 10 bring? Hopefully a reprisal of Hotel's kooky owner James Patrick March.

Adina Porter

Just behind Dylan McDermott, Adina Porter boasts one of the longest hiatuses between American Horror Story seasons, having gone four full years without popping by. First showing up for a smaller role in Murder House, Porter didn't again appear until landing a larger role in the found-footage madness of Roanoke, and she returned the following two years before missing out on Season 9.

Lily Rabe

One of the best weapons in Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story arsenal is Lily Rabe, who has appeared in or starred in every season except for Cult. Arguably most beloved as witchy woman Misty Day, Rabe has delivered some memorable moments with rather minimal roles, but her appearance in the main cast list means fans can get optimistic about her taking on something larger for Season 10. Stevie Nicks is still welcome to stop by, too.

Angelica Ross

Unlike everyone else on in this cast, Angelica Ross is the only American Horror Story Season 10 cast member who is returning for only the second time. The wickedly talented transgender actress first made waves on Ryan Murphy's Pose before diving headfirst into the rollicking twists and turns of 1984. It was obviously a fantastic fit, since she'll be returning in a big way for Season 10.

Finn Wittrock

While not one of the most prolific American Horror Story actors, Finn Wittrock has also teamed up with Ryan Murphy on the TV movie The Normal Heart, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and in the upcoming Ratched. Having first appeared in ridiculously stunning fashion as Dandy Mott in Freak Show, Wittrock went on to appear in three further seasons of American Horror Story, having popped up in limited fashion in 1984.

There are obviously a large number of American Horror Story familiars that aren't on this list, such as Denis O'Hare, Emma Roberts and Angela Bassett, as well as fan-favorites like Cody Fern and Matt Bomer. It's also interesting that Ross is the only one of 1984's new recruits to land a starring role in Season 10. That said, we can definitely expect to see a slew of recurring cast members and guest stars – such as Frances Conroy, no doubt – that will pepper more familiarity throughout.

With no release date set just yet, fans will likely see American Horror Story Season 10 hitting FX at some point in September.

With 20 seasons, Law and Order is one of the longest running dramas of all-time. It spun several spin-offs, including--the still going strong--Law and Order: SVU. Claire Danes

In 1992, two years before My So Called Life would air, Claire Danes landed her first major acting gig: an episode of Law and Order. Claire Danes’ Law and Order episode was the Season 3 premiere. She was barely a teen on her Law and Order episode where she played a 15-year-old tied into a secret prostitution ring. Her displaying so much talent at such a young age likely helped Claire Danes’ accelerate her acting career.

The short-lived My So Called Life gave Claire Danes’ career a major boost. She then went on to star in many motion pictures, including Romeo + Juliet, The Hours, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and Stardust. Danes gained even more recognition and praise in 2011 when she landed the lead role of Carrie Mathison in Homeland. But before all of that, she was on Law & Order.

Adam Driver

Adam Driver appeared in Law and Order in 2010, during Law and Order’s final season (Season 20, Episode 15) “Brilliant Disguise.” This Law and Order role came two years prior to him landing his breakout Girls role. Law and Order was one of Adam Driver’s first screen roles. In his episode he played a lab technician accused of murdering a secret escort. He had theater roles before Law and Order, but he had only appeared on one TV show and a short film before the police drama. Appearing on such a massively popular show might have help give him the confidence to audition for even bigger roles.

Since 2009, Adam Driver has taken on a variety of stage and screen roles. He has blended big blockbuster performances, like his role as Kylo Ren in the new Star Wars trilogy, with an array of arthouse film projects like Frances Ha, BlacKkKlansman, and The Report. Adam Driver had a very successful 2019, appearing in the critically acclaimed Marriage Story, and receiving his first Best Lead Actor Academy Award nomination for the same film.

Sam Rockwell

Sam Rockwell played two different characters in multiple episodes of Law and Order. His first episode was Season 2's “Intolerance,” and his second episode was Season 3" 21st episode, “Manhood.” in "Manhood," Rockwell plays an officer who doesn't show up when a fellow officer needs him. This leads to that officer's death and accusations of homophobia on their police force. In "Intolerance," he plays a member of a family accused of murdering a Chinese-American student to help one of the boys win a science award. Sam Rockwell had at least a dozen screen roles before appearing in Law and Order. However, it was still quite early in his career. Rockwell had only been consistently booking gigs for four years when he had his Law and Order premiere.

Since the early '90s, Sam Rockwell has forged a very diverse acting career--appearing in major motion pictures like The Green Mile, Charlie’s Angels, Iron Man 2, and Seven Psychopaths. In 2018, Sam Rockwell won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. He has also appeared in three recent Academy Award nominated movies, Vice, Richard Jewell, and Jojo Rabbit. In 2019, Sam Rockwell also appeared in the limited series Fosse/Verdon.

Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan had only appeared in one thing prior to his Law and Order debut in 2003. He appeared in Season 13's “Sheltered.” In the episode, Stan played a boy abducted and raised by his abuser. Modern Family’s Ty Burrell played his abuser. This role led to a steady stream of small roles until he landed his 2007 Gossip Girl role.

Sebastian Stan appeared in the hit TV series Gossip Girl and Once Upon a Time. However, most people know him for his roles in the Marvel movie franchise. Sebastian Stan plays Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. He’s been playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel franchise since 2011, and later this year he’ll have his own Disney+ and Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson appeared on Law and Order Season 1, Episode 14, “The Violence of Summer" as Defense Attorney Louis Taggert. He had only made limited television appearances before his Law and Order episode. However, he had already been appearing in films for nearly 20 years before the show. Samuel L Jackson at least appeared in over fifteen films from 1972 to 1992, including films like Do The Right Thing, Coming to America, and Jungle Fever. It was definitely not a career-making role, but it was before Samuel L. Jackson became one of the most recognized names in cinema.

Samuel L. Jackson has appeared in nearly 200 films and television shows. His most famous work includes the Marvel movies, The Incredibles, the Star Wars prequels, Kill Bill II, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Pulp Fiction, and School Daze.

Sarah Paulson

In 1994, Law and Order was Sarah Paulson’s first screen acting gig. She appeared in Season 5, Episode 4, “Family Values.” Sarah Paulson played a teen who claimed that she was having an affair with her murdered mother’s new husband. A year later, she landed a series regular role on American Gothic.

Sarah Paulson appeared in Bird Box, Ocean’s Eight, The Goldfinch, and Glass, but most people know her from her work with Ryan Murphy. Sarah Paulson has appeared in most seasons of American Horror Story and a few seasons of American Crime Story. Ryan Murphy and Paulson also will team up once again for a Netflix series about the infamous One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest character Nurse Ratched.

Ellen Pompeo

Law and Order was Ellen Pompeo’s first TV gig. She appeared in Season 6, Episode 16, “Savior” and Season 10's “Fools for Love.” The first episode involved a case about a man being accused of murdering his wife and son. The Season 10 episode involved a man accused of killing and raping his girlfriend’s sister and another victim. Prior to her first Law and Order episode, Ellen Pompeo had only appeared in one short film. She had a few movies and TV roles before her 2000 return to Law and Order.

Grey’s Anatomy fans best know Ellen Pompeo for her lead role as Dr. Meredith Grey. She has also appeared in Life of the Party, Friends, and Catch Me If You Can.

Allison Janney

Allison Janney had appeared on As the World Turns and Morton & Hayes along with a few movies before making her Law and Order appearances. She appeared in 1992 and 1994. The first episode Season 2, Episode 12, “Star Struck,” and the second episode was Season 4's “Old Friends.” In "Old Friends," Allison Janney plays a character scared to testify about a murder because it could lead to dangerous consequences for her. In "Star Struck," she plays someone interviewed about a murdered soap opera actress.

Allison Janney is an Academy Award and Emmy winning actress. She has appeared on hit series and critically acclaimed movies; her list of work includes 10 Things I Hate About You, The Hours, Finding Nemo, The West Wing, Masters of Sex, I, Tonya, and Mom.

Emmy Rossum

Emmy Rossum appeared on Law and Order when she was only a preteen. She played a young girl who became the target of a female circumcision. This Law and Order episode, "Ritual," aired during Season 8. This was Emmy Rossum’s first TV acting gig, but the following year she would appear in several screen projects.

Emmy Rossum is best known for her role as Fiona Gallagher in Shameless. She has also appeared in the films Mystic River, The Day After Tomorrow, and The Phantom of the Opera.

Vera Farmiga

Vera Farmiga appeared in Law and Order Season 8, Episode 12, “Expert.” She plays a character accused of trying to murder an expert witness in her father’s case. Prior to Law and Order, Farmiga had only appeared in two other on-screen things. One was a short lived TV show starring Heath Ledger called Roar and the other a TV movie called Rose Hill.

Vera Farmiga is an Academy Award nominated actress, best known for her role as Nora Bates in Bates Motel. Vera Farmiga has also appeared in Up in the Air, The Conjuring series, When They See Us, and The Departed.

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman made his screen debut with Law and Order. He appeared in Season 1, Episode 14, “The Violence of Summer.” He plays one of the men involved in a rape case. Samuel L. Jackson also appeared in this episode.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was an Academy Award winning actor who appeared in The Hunger Games movies, The Master, Almost Famous, Doubt, and Capote. He won his Best Lead Actor Academy Award for his role in Capote, and he received three Best Supporting Actor nominations for The Master, Doubt, and Charlie Wilson’s War.

Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe are the three actors most associated with American Horror Story. 10. Susan Atkins – Season 7 (Cult)

Episode 10 of American Horror Story: Cult, “Charles (Manson) in Charge,” focuses on Charles Manson (Evan Peters) and his followers. Sarah Paulson plays one of those followers, Susan Atkins. Like most of Charles Manson’s family, she’s very devoted to him and his cause. She’s one of the main figures in the murder of Sharon Tate.

The story of Charles Manson and the murder of Sharon Tate has been done in numerous television series and movies, and Ryan Murphy and crew did an interesting interpretation of events, but it was only a small part of the American Horror Story: Cult season. Sarah Paulson gave a great performance as wild and devoted Susan. It just wasn’t one of her biggest standout characters on American Horror Story.

9. Audrey Tindall - Season 6 (Roanoke)

American Horror Story: Roanoke was an interesting season because it featured a framing story. It was about people creating a series about a real life event. Eventually, the TV version and real version of Roanoke merged. Audrey Tindall is the British actress playing real life character Shelby Miller in the My Roanoke Nightmare series. Audrey’s major character traits are her insecurity and skepticism. Though it was fun listening to Paulson fake a posh British accent, there wasn’t much else there. The character was more frustrating to watch than exciting.

Roanoke was such a fascinating idea and concept, and Sarah Paulson gave an admirable duel performance as Audrey and Shelby. However, Audrey was definitely the least interesting one of the two characters.

8. Shelby Miller - Season 6 (Roanoke)

In American Horror Story: Roanoke, Sarah Paulson receives the fun task of playing an actress who plays an interpretation of a real life (fake) character. It’s even more interesting knowing that Lily Rabe is supposed to be the real version of this character. It’s captivating to see how Paulson adds little subtle hints of Lily Rabe’s interpretation of the character into her dramatization version of Shelby. Sarah’s version of Shelby follows a wife who just moved into a new house with her husband. The ghosts of their new home torture them. They manage to escape the place, but it still haunts them.

Paulson gives depth to Shelby as she goes through one traumatic event after another. Viewers watch hoping that Shelby manages to escape these devastating events. This makes it easy to feel the same sense of sympathy to Rabe’s version of Shelby when the series switches directions.

7. Wilhemina Venable - Season 8 (Apocalypse)

Wilhemina runs Outpost 3. She’s a tyrant who uses the apocalypse to gain complete power and control over those who reside in her outpost. She makes many outlandish rules, like forbidding sex. Wilhemina enjoys her power and uses it often.

Sarah Paulson rarely plays one of American Horror Story’s villains. At best, she often plays characters who are morally ambiguous or -- at their core -- good, but pushed towards darkness in order to survive. Wilhemina is one of Paulson’s truly evil characters. Everything she does is to gain power and grow her status. It’s definitely an exciting departure to see Sarah Paulson play an evil character, but the character didn’t stay around long enough to make as big of an impact as some of Paulson’s other characters.

6. Billie Dean Howard - Season 1 (Murder House)

Billie Dean Howard is American Horror Story’s resident medium. She first appeared in American Horror Story: Murder House, Season 1, but also makes appearances in American Horror Story: Hotel and American Horror Story: Apocalypse. She’s mainly involved with the Langdon family. Billie is introduced as someone who tries to help Constance (Jessica Lange) communicate with Tate (Evan Peters). Even before his birth, Billie Dean senses that Michael Langdon (Cody Fern) will be the antichrist.

Billie Dean Howard makes brief appearances in all three seasons, so she feels more like a guest star appearance than a fully formed character. Billie Dean Howard is a serious character as a psychic and medium, but the fact that she’s a medium for the stars adds a little humor to her persona and profession. If American Horror Story decides to do a future season all about Billie Dean’s medium show, we wouldn’t object.

5. Ally Mayfair-Richards - Season 7(Cult)

Ally starts Cult off as a character crippled by anxiety and phobias. She grows to become the only character that can stop the cult. The season opens with Ally running a successful restaurant with her wife, Ivy (Allison Pill). Ivy and Ally have a son together named Oz (Cooper Dodson). Through a series of events, including Ally voting for Jill Stein instead of Hilary Clinton, Ivy has grown to hate Ally. She even helps Kai (Evan Peters)’s cult torture Ally. Eventually Ally learns about Ivy’s true intentions, and she must work alone to save herself and Oz from becoming the cult’s next victims.

Sarah Paulson plays many different elements of the human condition with Ally. The character very much is a victim at the beginning of American Horror Story: Cult but uses her wit to outsmart Kai and the cult, eventually becoming the hero.

4. Cordelia Goode - Season 3 (Coven)

Cordelia Goode has appeared in multiple American Horror Story seasons, mainly American Horror Story: Coven and American Horror Story: Apocalypse. In Coven, she was the headmistress of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies. She’s a very caring character but lacks a bit of grit. Eventually, Cordelia grows out of her mother’s shadow and becomes the new supreme. In Apocalypse, she and her coven work very hard to defeat Michael Langdon.

Many of Sarah Paulson’s best characters are those that begin their journey betrayed, tortured, or viewed as weak, and then they find their strength and grow to become something greater than their previous selves. This is the case with Cordelia Goode. She remains kind and clever, but grows stronger through her journey and becomes one of the greatest supremes seen on American Horror Story.

3. Sally McKenna - Season 5 (Hotel)

Sally is definitely one of Sarah Paulson’s most fascinating characters. She’s a ghost who haunts the Hotel Cortez. Sally has some major addiction problems, whether addicted to drugs or love. She uses narcotics as a way to torture and bring more spirits to Hotel Cortez. American Horror Story: Hotel ends with Sally finding the love and attention that she so desperately seeks in the form of the internet. She becomes a successful blogger and internet sensation.

Sally is a trip. She’s mad, desperate, needy, and memorable. Paulson gives Sally layers by not making her just a scary ghost, but almost more human than all the other creatures in the hotel. Paulson creates a character completely desperate for love and that makes it easy to somewhat sympathize with her, and to cheer on when she finally finds admiration from the internet.

2. Bette and Dot - Season 4 (Freak Show)

Bette and Dot are conjoined twins in American Horror Story: Freak Show. They look exactly alike but have different personalities. The twins eventually end up becoming part of the freak show. Bette and Dot’s story ends with them married to Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters).

Paulson has played multiple characters in various seasons of American Horror Story, but it’s rare that she has to play two different characters side-by-side. Paulson manages to give the twins distinct personalities, which makes each of them unique and memorable. She also manages to keep Bette and Dot as sympathetic characters, despite any horrors they may commit. Bette and Dot are clearly victims of their circumstance and Sarah Paulson portrays them that way.

1. Lana Winters - Season 2 (Asylum)

Lana Winters makes brief appearances in American Horror Story: Cult and American Horror Story: Roanoke. Her main storyline happens in American Horror Story: Asylum. In Asylum, she's a lesbian journalist in 1964 who gets falsely imprisoned in the Briarcliff institution due to Sister Jude (Jessica Lange). Bloody Face, a serial killer at the time, then tortures her. The ordeal leaves her with an unwanted pregnancy and a billion different scars. The child grows up to become the second Bloody Face serial killer.

Sarah Paulson has played many characters on American Horror Story who progress from a weaker state to a stronger version of themselves. Lana Winters is her first and best version of this character arc. Lana becomes a lot more cold and calculated from the experience at Briarcliff and with Bloody Face, but she remains a pillar of strength and determination. You sympathize and admire her for her ability to overcome all the obstacles presented to her in Asylum.

Paulson makes her grand return to American Horror Story next season. We can’t wait to see what new characters she brings to the American Horror Story world in season 10 and beyond. The first eight seasons of American Horror Story are currently available to stream on Hulu.

The renewal news is still fresh, and Paulson herself does not know anything about her role. As viewers get closer to the premiere, more details will hopefully become available. American Horror Story, FX’s critically acclaimed anthology series, is fast approaching its current contractual endgame. With American Horror Story: 1984 halfway over, series creator Ryan Murphy already has ideas swirling in his head for Season 10, which is slated to be its last for the time being. While all good things must eventually come to an end, Murphy is always hungry for more AHS, as is the fanbase.

While Season 10 of the FX series is being touted as the last, executive producer extraordinaire Ryan Murphy doesn’t think he’s ready to be done with the show. AHS recently celebrated its 100th episode and here’s what the Pose co-creator had to say about the fan-favorite series possibly carrying on past Season 10:

Ten seasons is a long time for any TV project, especially when so many get cancelled in their early years, while others never even make it to air. However, with an anthology series like American Horror Story, every season is different and doesn’t have to rely on previous seasons or storylines to maintain its longevity. Ryan Murphy's growing stable of eclectic stars also helps, as does the energy to keep making more seasons.

It sounds a lot like Ryan Murphy still has a whole host of ideas for future AHS seasons, going by what he told Variety, and I’m here for it. In fact, AHS: 1984 has revitalized the anthology series in a lot of ways. With its ode to 1980s horror (and hairstyles and fashion) and its success even while missing AHS staples Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates, Season 9 has flourished on its own terms.

Still, Sarah Paulson, who was in attendance at the series’ 100th episode party, would always be up for returning to the series, but believes that AHS is at its best when it changes things (and characters) up.

While FX has not confirmed whether or not the series could actually take its frights beyond a tenth season, Ryan Murphy is currently cooking up ideas for what the next batch of installments will be and he’s giving himself a Halloween deadline.

After scooping up a few Emmys for Season 2, American Crime Story is headed to the White House for Season 3. Specifically, Impeachment: American Crime Story will retell the story of one of the biggest controversies to hit the United States Presidency in modern times: Bill Clinton's scandal with Monica Lewinsky.

The latest installment of American Crime Story will be written by Sarah Burgess, who has served as an executive producer on the show alongside television legend Ryan Murphy. FX recently announced some of the cast of the upcoming season, and as has been the case in the prior two seasons, there are some sizable names attached to tell this complicated story.

Sarah Paulson - Linda Tripp

Birdbox and former American Crime Story actress Sarah Paulson will play Linda Tripp (not Hilary Clinton) in Impeachment: American Crime Story, which is a role almost more important than that of Monica Lewinsky. It was Tripp's recorded conversations and testimony that brought to light a majority of the information now known about the affair between President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Tripp was a colleague of Lewinsky's and recorded conversations between them in which Lewinsky spoke of the affair.

Tripp's involvement in the case was not appreciated by Monica Lewinsky, who publicly stated that she hated Tripp while under the testimony of the grand jury. Ryan Murphy fans have seen Sarah Paulson beyond American Crime Story, as she's been a part of the American Horror Story franchise since 2011.

Beanie Feldstein - Monica Lewinsky

Fresh off her appearance in the critically acclaimed comedy Booksmart, Beanie Feldstein has been tapped to play Monica Lewinsky. As many may know, Lewinsky was at the center of the scandal as the woman who was said to have had a number of sexual encounters with former President Bill Clinton. Those acts became public knowledge due to the nature of the impeachment investigation, and Lewinsky was forced to testify about them in front of a grand jury.

Many Americans likely know loosely of the story, but may not be too aware of Monica Lewinsky's personal struggle throughout the case. That seems to be the intention of Impeachment: American Crime Story, which is said to tap into the other facets of the lives of these women who got caught up in the legal scandals that surrounded the Clinton Presidency. Ryan Murphy initially balked at covering the scandal, but has since changed his mind, with Lewinsky now attached as a producer.

Annaleigh Ashford - Paula Jones

Annaleigh Ashford is back on American Crime Story, but this time, she isn't playing Elizabeth Cote. Instead, she'll be playing Paula Jones, a woman who had accused President Bill Clinton of sexual assault back when he was the Governor of the state of Arkansas.

As is the case with Monica Lewinsky, it's hard to tell the story Impeachment: American Crime Story is trying to tell without including Paula Jones. At this time there aren't a ton of details regarding how much of Jones' story will be in the season, although it is worth noting that her court case was later affected by the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

During the program's after show segment, Paulson was given a chance to elaborate on how she became acquainted with her partner, and the Glass actress confessed that she got to know Holland Taylor when they were officially following each other on Twitter. Well, they first met at an event before that, but it was through Twitter that the actresses got to chat with each other more and more. That's when the relationship began to bloom. From there, the rest is -- as they say -- history.

Well, it's not exactly that simple. As Sarah Paulson admits, it's a "long story." But for the sake of the talk show, she condensed it to the story above. Meanwhile, it was fellow guest Billy Eichner who pointed out that Holland Taylor was the one who slid into Sarah Paulson's DMs, and therefore started the connection between the two. This weekend saw the release of the latest M. Night Shyamalan movie, Glass, in theaters. As is the case when any buzzworthy director has a new movie out, people are naming their favorite Shyamalan movie -- and that's not exclusive to the audience. Sarah Paulson told CinemaBlend's own Corey Chichizola that her favorite Shyamalan movie is Unbreakable, which is pretty fitting considering that she stars in its sequel.

Glass is the long-awaited sequel to Unbreakable, M. Night Shyamalan's 2000 superhero movie that starred Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie has since become a cult favorite and considered to be ahead of its time. Unbreakable was a very serious and grounded take on whether superheroes existed in the real world. Ultimately, it was a film about finding your place in the world, which makes it Sarah Paulson's favorite Shyamalan movie.

Sarah Paulson may not be able to say much about Glass because of spoilers, but she can say whatever she wants about Unbreakable. Paulson notes that Unbreakable is a beautiful look at loneliness and being an outsider. Bruce Willis' character David Dunn always considered himself ordinary and ignored the signs that he had abilities. He was denying that part of himself, but ultimately embraced himself and used his powers to help people.

The same is true for Elijah Price, Samuel L. Jackson's character, though, in a much more twisted way. Price realizes that he should be a supervillain and murder a bunch of people, but he had found what he felt was his role in life.

As Sarah Paulson points out, this pre-dates the current saga of Marvel movies. Unbreakable can definitely be considered ahead of its time in how it treated superheroes seriously. It even pre-dates The Dark Knight, which arguably popularized that level of thinking in comic book movies.

Time will tell if audiences are as favorable to Glass in 18 years. Glass caps the trilogy of Unbreakable and Split. The movie fell below its original $50-60 million expectations, but it's still expected to earn $47 million during the holiday weekend, when all is said and done. The reviews for the film have been mixed-to-negative, with critics pointing out a number of plot holes and what will surely be a divisive ending.

Sarah Paulson also has another super secretive project coming out with M. Night Shyamalan's Glass. Paulson plays newcomer Ellie Stapler, squaring off against the cast of both Unbreakable and Split in the crossover movie. I recently spoke with Paulson about playing Ellie, and her penchant for picking ultra secretive projects. It turns out, all the spoiler dodging is exhausting, as she put it:

Sarah Paulson's comments make a great deal of sense, given the high stakes of her most recent film projects. Every season of American Horror Story is heavily guarded, as Ryan Murphy crafts a new setting, set of characters, and moments of horror. Paulson has been in every scene of the fan favorite series, and is often at the center of crossovers, as she plays her myriad characters from the past eight seasons.

Then there's her role as Ellie Staple in Glass. M. Night Shyamalan's new release is almost two decades in the making, as it completes the narrative started back with 2000's Unbreakable. Shyamalan is a director synonymous with twist endings, which must be guarded in order for them to retain power. As such, Sarah Paulson is once again unable speak freely about her character, and the contents of Glass.

Luckily for the Emmy Award winning actress, Glass is in theaters now, with every twist, turn, and comic book showdown available for moviegoers. Following the wild success of Split, the pressure is on for M. Night Shyamalan to complete his trilogy, including his perspective on superheroes. As for American Horror Story, Sarah Paulson will just have to wait until the fall, when Season 9 premiers with a mysterious new theme.

Sarah Paulson reveal of her dream-cast for Ocean's 9 to Entertainment Tonight just gives us more hope and excitement for a potential sequel. The summer hit starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Awkwafina and Helena Bonham Carter was a fun addition to the franchise, stole away a lot of cash at the box office and was given the thumbs up from various critics too.

In fact, Ocean's 8 can say it beat a Star Wars film at the box office since it dethroned Solo: A Star Wars Story for the No. 1 when it came out just one week later. The heist movie also beat out the rest of the Ocean's films for the biggest opening for the franchise (without inflation) with $41.5 million during its first weekend and making over $297 million worldwide during its box office run.

Bette Midler and Emma Thompson are just a few talented women who would be fabulous additions to the new Ocean's films. Oprah Winfrey has already reached out about her interest, with "I'm in! I'm in ladies" -- who can one say no to the talk show legend? Sandra Bullock's onscreen daughter in The Blind Side, Lily Collins, has also voiced her interest too.

Sarah Paulson and the cast of Ocean's 8 just had a blast together while on the set of the blockbuster, hence Paulson's desire to go back for another one. She recently reunited with Sandra Bullock to play her sister for the viral Netflix thriller Bird Box. You can see Paulson next in M. Night Shyamalan's sequel to Unbreakable and Split, Glass, coming to theaters this Friday, January 18.

Because Glass is the sequel to both Unbreakable and Split, the cast is understandably comprised of the main actors from those previous movies. But there still some new faces being introduced, and the most important of them all is Sarah Paulson's Dr. Ellie Staple, the psychiatrist treating David Dunn, Elijah Price and Kevin Wendell Crumb at the high security mental hospital. But when conceiving Glass, M. Night Shyamalan also considered casting a man as the psychiatrist. The writer/director recalled:

Those who've seen Sarah Paulson show off her acting chops in projects like 12 Years a Slave and American Horror Story will understand why M. Night Shyamalan made the decision he did. It would have been easy enough to throw another male actor into the mix, but with Paulson occupying the psychiatrist role, it resulted in a better dynamic between the three leading men, as Shyamalan told EW. Paulson joins the returning Anya Taylor-Joy and Charlayne Woodard as Glass' important female characters.

As we've learned in the Glass trailers, Dr. Ellie Staple's specialty is treating patients with delusions of grandeur, specifically those who believe they're superhuman. She's confident that David Dunn, Elijah Price and Kevin Wendell Crumb don't really have special abilities and is determined to bring them back into reality. But she'll soon learn that these men truly are more powerful than your average human, whether it's through brute strength or superior intellect.

Set nearly two decades after Unbreakable and only a few weeks after Split, Glass will see David Dunn clashing with Elijah Price and Kevin Wendell Crumb when those two join forces. Elijah, a.k.a. Mr. Glass/The Mastermind, sees great potential in Kevin, a.k.a. The Horde, specifically his 24th and most dangerous personality, The Beast. It'll be up to David, a.k.a. The Overseer, to stop them before a lot of people die. While Glass is gearing up for a big opening weekend at the box office, so far early critical reception to the movie ranges from mixed to negative overall.

Ocean's Eight got a lot of grief for being a gender-swapped edition of an existing franchise, but one of the actresses involved has a response to the hate. Sarah Paulson has a response, but what she doesn't have is much of an opinion, because she doesn't really care what the haters have to say about the movie she was in. At the end of the day, she apparently had an absolute blast making Ocean's Eight and nobody really has that much control over whether or not a movie is a financial success. According to Paulson...

A lot of parallels were drawn between Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot and Ocean's Eight. Both movies were additions to franchises that swapped out entirely male casts for entirely female casts. This resulted in both films receiving backlash. To what degree the backlash impacted the box office is far from clear, but Sarah Paulson isn't losing any sleep over the question. She had a blast making the movie, nothing else really matters to her.

For the record, Ocean's Eight did fine at the box office. It made almost $300 million globally on a budget reported to be around $70 million. It only came in about $15 million behind the previous entry in the franchise, Ocean's Thirteen, so it doesn't really look like the movie suffered. The Ghostbusters reboot fared somewhat more poorly. The film only made about $230 million and had a much higher budget due to the post-production digital effects.

According to Bustle, the stars of Ocean's Eight had a text chain going where they all communicated with each other on a regular basis, certainly confirming that the co-stars have remained close since making the movie together. For Sarah Paulson, the personal relationships are clearly going to be a bigger takeaway than the box office receipts. Why in the world would she waste time caring about how full the theater was?

Sarah Paulson is too busy to care about such things. In between filming series like American Horror Story and American Crime Story, the actress has been making movies like the upcoming Bird Box for Netflix and Glass for M. Night Shyamalan. And she's up for making an Ocean's Eight sequel, if only so she can hang out with her friends again.

Taissa Farmiga

Taissa Farmiga is quite the familiar face around AHS, with roles so far in the Murder House, Coven and Roanoke seasons of the anthology series. There's no word on who Farmiga will be playing in the new season just yet, but you can probably bet the character will be pretty intriguing.

Gabourey Sidibe

Gabourey Sidibe will also be returning to AHS when Apocalypse debuts on FX this fall. The actress has already appeared in Coven, Freak Show and Hotel, playing the role of Queenie twice.

Lily Rabe

Lily Rabe will be appearing in her seventh season of American Horror Story when Apocalypse comes around in a few months. So far, she's played roles in Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Roanoke, notably portraying shy nun/devil possession vehicle Sister Mary Eunice in two seasons.

Frances Conroy

Season 8 of American Horror Story will welcome actress Frances Conroy back for her seventh role in the franchise. Conroy has previously appeared in Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Roanoke and Cult.

Stevie Nicks

Witchy woman and acclaimed singer Stevie Nicks will be returning to AHS for the first time since her single appearance as herself in one episode of Coven, during Apocalypse. There's no word on who she'll be playing yet, or if Nicks will bring her signature "magical delights" back to the series this time around.

Kathy Bates

Ready for her fifth season of American Horror Story is Kathy Bates. After taking on amazing roles in Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Roanoke, she's going to step into the part of Miss Meade for Apocalypse.

Sarah Paulson

Another very recognizable face to AHS fans, Sarah Paulson will be returning to the fold once more when Apocalypse gets underway. The actress is one of the few to have played multiple roles in several of the seasons she's been a part of, with work on Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke and Cult under her creepy ass belt. Paulson will tackle multiple parts on this season as well, with her characters revealed as Venable, Cordelia, and Billy Dean.

Evan Peters

American Horror Story: Apocalypse will have another returning member to the ensemble in the form of Evan Peters. He's shown up in the Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke and Cult seasons, portraying a whopping seven characters in that last season.

Joan Collins

This completely unexpected new addition to the AHS family was announced a few months ago, with Ryan Murphy letting everyone know that he was planning on "throwing in Joan Collins" when it came to the next installment of the franchise. We have no idea who or what she'll be playing, but I fully expect her to be dripping with jewels as she pushes someone into a pool at some point during the season.

Billie Lourd

Returning for her second major role in the franchise will be a fan favorite from Season 7: Billie Lourd. She'll be playing a character named Mallory in Apocalypse, and you can probably count on her character either being completely batshit or ending up in a batshit situation (or both).

Cody Fern

If you're looking at the young man above and don't recognize him, that's actually because this will be his first time in a season of AHS, though it won't be his character's first time in the franchise. Fern, who appeared in Ryan Murphy's The Assassination of Gianni Versace, will be playing Michael Langdon, the adult version of the antichrist baby birthed by Vivien in Season 1. With a season subtitled Apocalypse, doesn't it make total sense that the antichrist would play a major role?

Adina Porter

After a brief appearance in Murder House, Adina Porter has her first major role with AHS in Roanoke and followed it up with another strong showing in Cult. We now know that Porter's time on Apocalypse will be spent as Diana Stevens, but that's all the info we currently have on her character.

Cheyenne Jackson

Cheyenne Jackson has shown up in Hotel, Roanoke and Cult, and his characters have died every time. Will Apocalypse change his fate? Only time will tell.

Billy Eichner

Billy Eichner will, once again, be gracing AHS with his presence. He lent his talents to Cult last season, where he played two characters, but there's not word yet on the character(s) Eichner will portray this time around.

Leslie Grossman

After portraying two characters in Cult, which was her first time on AHS, Leslie Grossman is returning for Apocalypse. This time around she'll be playing a character named Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, who sounds super annoying and like someone we'll all want to be murdered horribly within seconds of meeting her for the first time.

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts will be returning to the American Horror Story fold as her Coven character, Madison Montgomery, when Apocalypse hits the small screen this year. Roberts also starred in the Freak Show and Cult seasons of the franchise.

Jessica Lange

After some speculation, we now know that Jessica Lange will be back on board to play her Murder House character, Constance Langdon in Apocalypse. Lange has also appeared in the Asylum, Coven and Freak Show seasons.

Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman

Another new addition to the AHS family this season will be Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, who will appear in a guest capacity. Bowyer-Chapman has shown up in Stargate Universe, Warehouse 13, Dirty Grandpa and UnREAL, among other projects.

Kyle Allen

Also new to Apocalypse? Actor Kyle Allen, who is best known for his work as Hawk Lane on Hulu's The Path.

One of the main conversations surrounding Hollywood right now is proper inclusion and representation in the media. There has been a particular call for more female-centric stories with dynamic characters, although all-female remakes like Ghostbusters were met with massive pushback. Gary Ross' upcoming heist movie Ocean's 8 has been surprisingly free of controversy or hate about its female cast, partly because there are just so many A-listers attached. One of those is Sarah Paulson, who plays suburban mom and criminal Tammy. Paulson is mostly known for dramatic roles, given her performances in shows like American Horror Story and American Crime Story. It's for this reason that she's already pushing for Ocean's 9 to happen. I recently spoke to Paulson and the rest of the cast at the Ocean's 8 press conference in New York City, where I asked the actress if she enjoys flexing those comedic muscles for a change. She told me,

While Sarah Paulson is definitely getting a ton of acclaim for her work in dramas, it seems that working on Ocean's 8 was a welcomed departure for the Emmy winner. Eager to have more fun days at work, it seems Paulson is already hoping that she and the rest of the cast could return for a potential sequel.

Sarah Paulson getting a bit ahead of herself, and is likely just putting out her intentions to the universe. After all, Ocean's 8 hasn't even hit theaters yet, and it's unclear how audiences will respond to the new heist flick. Some early screenings have premiered around the country, and the first reception has been fairly positive on social media. While potential sequels are always the big question during the promotion of blockbusters, it will take a strong box office return and some good reviews to get Ocean's 8 a sequel. Fingers crossed that Sarah Paulson gets her wish. Plus, who doesn't want to see that cast together in a bonafide franchise?

Aside from her small screen work, most of Paulson's movie credits have also been dramatic projects. She was viciously cruel in 12 Years a Slave, and also appeared in other Oscar nominated dramas Carol and The Post. Looking ahead, she'll once again star alongside Sandra Bullock in Netflix's upcoming apocalyptic horror movie Bird Box, as well as joining the all star cast of M. Night Shymalan's crossover sequel Glass. Plus she'll be once again returning for American Horror Story's mysterious eighth season on FX.

Sure, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the X-Men franchise, and the DCEU may currently have reasonably secure vice grips on the superhero world, but there's another comic book-themed film series that has returned to wow audiences. M. Night Shyamalan came back in a major way with Split last year, and the secret reveal of it as a stealth sequel to Unbreakable has riled up his fan base in a significant way. Now, shifting focus away from the Split narrative, Shyamalan is about to bridge the gap between Unbreakable and Split with the upcoming release the third film in his trilogy, Glass.

That's the film that we are going to talk about today. Glass remains mostly shrouded in mystery, but we're going to dive in and talk out anything and everything that you need to know about the film before it debuts on the big screen and brings these characters together. On that note, let's hop in and talk out one of the most apparent questions of them all: is this sequel even happening at all? Well, sit back, relax, and let's get into this long-awaited movie to find out.

Is Glass Happening?

Of course, we had to get to this question first. From the moment the credits rolled on Split, many fans were left wondering how the film's connection to Unbreakable would continue to evolve and become more fleshed out as M. Night Shyamalan continued his comeback that started with The Visit. Luckily, we did not have to wait very long to receive the first answer to this question, as Glass was quickly announced and put into production once it became clear that Split had turned into a box office hit for Shyamalan and Blumhouse -- earning $278 million globally against a $9 million budget. This film is happening, and it has already wrapped production.

When Is Glass' Release Date?

So, now that we know that Glass is definitely on the way, we also need to figure out when the film will actually debut in theaters for the world to see. Split seemingly struck gold by debuting mostly unopposed in January 2017 (for wide audiences, as the film screened on the festival circuit beforehand), and it looks like Glass has no intention of altering that successful framework. The next installment in this franchise will debut in theaters on January 18, 2019, which means that we have less than a year until David Dunn, Mr. Glass, and The Beast all return to the big screen!

What Is Glass' Rating?

As of right now, Glass does not have an official rating from the MPAA to determine the intensity of its content. That said, there are still a few ways for us to determine how it could be classified when it screens for the regulatory organization. Specifically, Unbreakable and Split both received PG-13 ratings when the time came to classify them, so there's ample reason to believe that Glass could do the same when it finally comes time to receive a rating.

Does this mean that a PG-13 rating is absolutely guaranteed for a film like Glass? Not necessarily. Movies like Logan have shown us that traditionally PG-13 franchises can make the jump to an R-rating if the right story comes along, so the possibility of a more intense narrative could force Shyamalan to take a more restrictive rating. Moreover, even though Glass is expected to cost more than Split, Shyamalan has admitted that it will still be a lower budget movie by Hollywood standards -- meaning it can take an R-rating and still expect to make a profit.

Who Is Glass' Director?

This one is pretty obvious. Just like with Split and Unbreakable, M. Night Shyamalan will once again step behind the camera for the next installment in this story. Moreover, Shyamalan also wrote the screenplay for the film, and he is serving as a producer on the project as well.

One thing that we definitely do not know right now is whether or not M. Night Shyamalan will insert himself into the movie in a brief cameo role. These scenes are usually incredibly quick, but given his history of doing them in most of his projects, it would make sense for us to assume that he will do the same on Glass as well.

What Is Glass' Story?

M. Night Shyamalan is a guy who likes to keep secrets and keep the plots of his movies held reasonably close to the chest. After all, his name has become synonymous with twist endings in the years since The Sixth Sense first debuted. Given that history of secrecy, we do not know the official plot of Glass just yet.

Having said that, there's still enough information out there for us to latch onto and figure out what to expect. The ending of Split shows Bruce Willis' David Dunn watching a TV report of The Beast's activities, thus suggesting that the threequel will pit the Unbreakable hero against the villain from Split. Beyond that, however, the title Glass suggests that the film will place the bulk of the story's attention on Samuel L. Jackson's Elijah Price a.k.a Mr. Glass, who apparently knows secret information about both of these men.

How Will Glass Connect Unbreakable And Split?

As mentioned earlier, although we don't specifically know exactly how Glass' story will play out, one very important thing that we need to hammer home is the fact that it will unite the continuities of Unbreakable and Split to form a full trilogy. The presence of David Dunn at the end of Split was not a simple Easter egg to suggest that these films might have a fleeting connection to one another; it was pure set up to lead into a major showdown between a hero and two villains.

Samuel L. Jackson As Mr. Glass

Just as the name of the film suggests, Glass will focus its story most heavily on Elijah Price, also known as Samuel L. Jackson's Mr. Glass. The character is a brilliant-yet-disturbed villain with an affinity for comic books and has a rare bone disorder that causes his bones to be as fragile and brittle as glass. In the Unbreakable universe, the only people that Elijah is genuinely close to are David Dunn (more on him later) and his mother (played by Charlayne Woodard in the first film, and expected to return in the third).

It has been almost two full decades since audiences last saw Elijah Price on the big screen, but the ending of Unbreakable specified that David Dunn led the authorities to him and brought about his arrest after learning that he caused all of the accidents that eventually found David. Based on the way people talk about Mr. Glass at the end of Split, it sounds like he may have largely faded from memory by the time the new movie rolls around.

Bruce Willis As David Dunn

The one character to appear in both Unbreakable and Split, Bruce Willis' David Dunn is the hero of this universe. Though resistant to using his supernatural invulnerability during the events of the first film, he eventually accepts his near godlike status as a real-life superhero and ultimately sets out in his security cloak to save innocent bystanders from harm.

With that said, it will be interesting to see where Glass finds David all these years later. We don't know if he has stayed active as a hero, or if he hasn't done anything with his gifts since his encounter with Mr. Glass in 2000. If the latter turns out to be the case, then he may find himself outmatched when forced to face off against the younger (and possibly deadlier) Kevin Wendell Crumb.

James McAvoy As The Beast

James McAvoy delivered a showstopping performance as Kevin Wendell Crumb during the events of Split and the reveal of The Beast at the end of the movie stands out as one of the scariest horror moments in recent memory. Now, The Beast has fully emerged, and he's going to return to the fray to wreak havoc on the world during the events of Glass.

Arguably the most interesting thing to note about the return of The Beast in Glass is how the archetype of the character will tie back to the events of Unbreakable. Although Kevin Wendell Crumb never actually appeared in the first installment in this trilogy (that we know of), Unbreakable makes reference to a "soldier" villain, which is the type of bad guy who fights with his hands instead of his mind. In the context of Glass, that's likely what we can expect from The Beast. He's fast, he's strong, and he's downright terrifying.

Anya Taylor-Joy As Casey Cooke

Between her roles in films like The Witch and Split (not to mention the horror-themed X-Men spinoff, New Mutants), Anya Taylor-Joy has slowly but surely become one of Hollywood's most impressive scream queens. Her performance as Casey Cooke in Split could've been easily foreshadowed by James McAvoy's portrayal of The Beast (not to mention every other identity in his brain), but she managed to deliver something equally engaging in her own right. Given the popularity of the character, it's incredibly exciting to know that she will return in the sequel to continue her arc.

The return of Casey Cook in Glass raises more questions than answers. The Beast let her live at the end of Split, and as he explained it, the presence of her scars makes her "more evolved" than other people. This could potentially indicate that she has her own abilities that she hasn't tapped into yet, and it also has us wondering who she will side with when the film debuts. Logically, David Dunn seems like a perfect ally for her to side with, but Shyamalan is known for twists so we won't be surprised if she ends up turning heel and working with the man who tried to kill her in 2017. In this world, pretty much anything seems possible.

Spencer Treat Clark As Joseph Dunn

One of the most surprising additions to the Glass cast came with the announcement of Spencer Treat Clark, who will return to the role of Joseph Dunn. Though his father made a brief appearance in the finale of Split, we have not seen or heard from Joseph in the years since Unbreakable first debuted in theaters back in 2000, which means that we have very little idea of what to expect from the older actor or his fictional counterpart.

On that note, it is worth remembering where we left Joseph when Unbreakable ended. Despite all of the drama that plagues the Dunn family in that film, the movie concludes with Joseph learning of his father's heroics, and a generally optimistic understanding of the fact that they have mended their relationship. Will Joseph still be on his dad's side all these years later as he heads off to fight The Beast? Only time will tell for sure.

Sarah Paulson

Last but not least, the principal cast for M. Night Shyamalan's Glass will be rounded out by none other than Sarah Paulson -- who has made a name for herself over the course of the last few years on the small and big screen for her compelling performances. Unlike the other members of the cast, we still have no idea whom she will play in the film (a character name has not even been announced yet), so it remains highly likely that the director is keeping her true identity a secret at this point.

That raises the question of which camp Sarah Paulson's character will come from. We know that Glass intends to incorporate supporting characters from Unbreakable and Split, so it is entirely possible that she could be an ally of David Dunn or The Beast. Then again, she could also be a bystander caught in the crossfire (like Betty Buckley's Dr. Karen Fletcher from the most recent film) or a completely neutral party. Given Paulson's penchant for eclectic roles in properties like American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and the upcoming Ocean's 8, nothing will surprise us.
