It was announced last week that PC gamers would be getting some “Jewel of the Nile” DLC for Serious Sam 3 BFE, and now we can announce that the same DLC is headed to the XBLA version of the game. What’s that? There isn’t an XBLA version of the game, you say? Well, as of Oct. 17, there will be. Booya!

Corteam, Devolver Digital and Mastertronic announced today that the first-person shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE will be blowing $#@! Up on XBLA in a port that has been “painstakingly converted to take full advantage of the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live to deliver an unparalleled Serious Sam experience on the home console.”

According to Croteam Chief Creative Guy (No, seriously, that’s his title), the XBLA version of BFE is due to popular request.

“Ever since we announced Serious Sam 3: BFE our fans have asked us to bring the game to Xbox Live Arcade,” Hunski said. “Boom. Done.”

If you’re suffering from a little sticker shock, just remember that the PC version of BFE is only about a year old, so $30 is a pretty decent price for the full package, especially when it includes the brand new campaign DLC.

Serious Sam 3: BFE is about to get even bigger as the “Jewel of the Nile” DLC finally receives a launch date of Oct. 16.

According to the DLC’s Steam description, the Jewel of the Nile DLC “follows the legendary hero to the mysterious Temple of Isis on the island of Philae, where a monstrous temple guardian lies in wait. Set in the midst of the events in Serious Sam 3: BFE, Sam and his team will battle through three new campaign missions against the unrelenting hordes of Mental’s forces.”

So, let me see is I’ve got this straight. The latest Serious Sam DLC will see us rampaging through some fanciful setting while shooting holes in everything that moves? That just doesn’t sound anything like the Serious Sam I’ve come to know and respect.

The three new missions will take place on a mysterious island, in treacherous canyons and in ancient temples. You’ll be able to take on the Alundran Reptiloid for the first time in the game, as well as the all-new uber boss. The Jewel of the Nile DLC also offers new rifles and a battle axe, as well as a fistful of new achievements for those of you who need that extra encouragement to keep you pulling the trigger.

Look for Serious Sam to head to the Nile come October 16th on PC for Serious Sam 3: BFE. And don't forget that the game let's you play multiplayer co-op either online or via split-screen, so if you have some extra CRT monitors lying around, be sure to pull e'm out for some hardcore, old-school split-screen action.

Hey, Linux users? Can we get serious for a moment? Serious Sam, I mean. Because the dude's latest adventure, Serious Sam 3: BFE, is finally making the leap to Linux sometime in 2012.

Perhaps “latest adventure” isn't the appropriate term, seeing as how Serious Same 3: BFE is actually a prequel that sees our not-so-serious protagonist taking up arms during the initial invasion of Mental's hordes of beasts and mercenaries. The team at Devolver Digital promises a throwback to first-person shooters of old when “men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.” This was also a time when chainsaws were a choice weapon for melee combat, reloading was unheard of and monsters were so freaking bad that the dictionary was too afraid to show a picture of the creatures lest someone might show up at the lexicon's door.

Unfortunately, nothing more specific than a “2012” release date can be given, as Devolver Digital chief financial officer Fork Parker quite colorfully explained that the team was working hard to make sure all of the bits and pieces fit snugly into place.

“We're in the process of integrating Steamworks and achievements and the whole shebang, but we can't get the little %&^$er of a penguin to stand still,” Parker said. “The last time I had anything 'open sourced' I was in Thailand, if you catch my drift.”

If nothing else, now you at least know the caliber of comedy you can expect out of Serious Same 3: BFE when it launches this year, eventually, for Linux. For more info, be sure to drop by the Devolver Digital official website.

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a throwback to the classic days of first-person shooters, when the most important feature was the selection of weapons. The latest trailer for BFE shows the arsenal at player's disposal.

Players will have an arsenal of both conventional and sci-fi weapons. The more traditional weapons include an assault rifle and C4 charges. On the crazy end of the spectrum are a rocket launcher and a quad-barrel laser gun.

BFE's campaign is a prequel to previous games in the series. The game supports online co-op for up to 16 players and split-screen for four players. A full suite of competitive modes like Capture the Flag and Deathmatch are part of the package as well.

The PC version of BFE is slated for a November 22nd release. PS3 and Xbox 360 editions are currently undated.

Croteam revealed today that the Serious Sam 3: BFE will not make its October release date. They've pushed back the PC shooter's launch to November 22nd.

"Serious Sam 3: BFE is the next evolution in our beloved franchise and the team wants to take a little extra time to make it perfect for Serious Sam fans worldwide,” said Croteam's Davor Hunski. "The game is playing wonderfully and looks great so we are going through to balance the difficulty and fine tune the code to eliminate any technical issues at launch. And we’ll probably add some more enemies to the hordes to blow your mind."

SS3 is a prequel to the previous games in the series. All you really need to know about the story, though, is that you'll be killing a lot of aliens. You can fight alongside 15 other players in the game's online co-op mode. Competitive multiplayer is also included, with modes like Capture the Flag and Deathmatch.

If you plan on picking up the game, note that there are a few incentives for pre-ordering. Steam will give you a 10% discount on pre-orders, and bump it up to 20% if you already own a different SS title on the service. Reserving a copy will also get you a timed exclusive multiplayer avatar of Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker.

"Looks like the wife is going to have to wait on pumping up the milk pillows until I’m rolling in that filthy Serious Sam 3: BFE cash money," said Parker of the delay. "Nobody likes a half-assed titjob. Nobody."

SS3 is available in two editions: the $39.99 standard edition, and a $49.99 Serious Deluxe Edition. Here's what's included in the Serious Deluxe package:

Serious Sam 3: BFE will not be out this summer after all. Croteam revealed today that the PC shooter will instead arrive on October 18th.

"We believe Serious Sam 3: BFE is the best Serious Sam game we’ve ever made," said Davor Hunski, chief creative officer at Croteam. "We’ve designed a true arcade-style FPS game with the non-stop brutal action the series is known for and our fans have loved for the past decade."

Starting today, SS3: BFE can be pre-ordered through Steam and other digital retailers. Steam is celebrating the occasion by cutting prices on all Serious Sam HD titles and bundles by 66% today. If you pre-order SS3: BFE, that discount will be bumped up to 85%. Here are the other pre-order incentives being offered:

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a retro-style first-person shooter, which means that it kind of delights in how little sense it makes. The premise is that you're battling aliens in 22nd century Egypt - sure, why not? It supports co-op for up to 16 players. Multiplayer modes like Last Man Standing, Capture the Flag, and Deathmatch are also included.

Serious Sam 3: BFE publishers Devolver Digital announced that they'll be distributing the PC version through Steam. They did, however, momentarily consider releasing it through their imaginary digital store Krundle.

"I think we could have revolutionized how I make a shitload of money," said Devolver CFO Fork Parker. "But the reality is Steam is an amazing digital platform. That’s where we want to distribute our top-tier titles like Serious Sam 3: BFE to generate the kind of revenue it takes to buy things like velvet-covered jet skis. Holy crap, did I just invent those?"

It's a shame they didn't decide to create Krundle, because it had some amazing features:

• Unconventional preorder incentives like in-game nachos and undetonated Cold War era munitions
• Free-to-Play-for-Fifty-Bucks games wherein the consumer is free to play the game once it is purchased for $50
• Complimentary Portuguese adult films with purchases of $200 or more

"I guess consumers could also sign-up for EA’s Origin service if they are into 10-year-old train simulators,” added Fork. "But you can be sure those sons of bitches will never deliver in-game nachos."

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a prequel to the Serious Sam: The First Encounter, the initial game in the series. Players will be able to blast their way through 22nd century Egypt with up to 15 friends in the game's cooperative campaign mode. SS3 is powered by Serious Engine 3, the same engine behind Croteam's recent HD remakes of the previous Sam games.

SS3: BFE is schedule to be released later this year for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
