<p><strong>What They're Into</strong>: Carly is an avid cinephile who is always looking for the next best film to watch whether it goes back to the silent film era to what's playing in theaters. Her analytical mindset enhances her writing as she gains true understanding of the characters and stories that makes a movie great enough to write about.
When the first trailer of Barbie came out and shared the first footage of Ryan Gosling as Ken, it was met with a polarizing response of people coming down hard on the actor’s age. Then once the movie came out, the critics who saw the comedy film felt Gosling stole the show, and his performance even landed him among this year’s Oscar nominees. With all of the positivity that’s come from the Canadian actor playing the Mattel Inc. doll, his real-life partner, Eva Mendes, called out all of the haters who ever doubted him.

The first time we caught a glimpse of Ryan Gosling as Ken, those holy abs and hair were on the minds of many fans. Seeing that tan and bleach blond hair led the chisel-ab Gosling to receive responses on social media creating a mockery of his new look. Barbie hadn't even been released in theaters yet and social media users were quick to question whether The Notebook actor was the right fit for the Greta Gerwig film. Luckily for Gosling, he’s got a Barbie of his own to give haters a piece of her mind, and a bunch of other celebrities cheered her on with A+ responses.

How Eva Mendes Responded to Ken Haters

A year later, Eva Mendes’ man is now an Oscar nominee because of his performance as Ken. But, it doesn't mean she's forgotten about those who gave flack to her partner before the film came out. She took to Instagram to show her pride in her Place Beyond the Pines co-star and called out those who didn’t think he could pull his performance off. Her bold caption states:

So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie 💕

Look at Eva Mendes standing by her man! The Hitch actress has always been in support of Ryan Gosling since his first photos of Ken came out. In fact, she even created the perfect hashtag #Thatsmyken to show love for the Barbieland resident. Mendes also showed her support rocking a tee with Ken’s photo on it and defended Gosling’s platinum blonde hair for Barbie, arguing that he’s playing a doll and not a real person. The pride she has in the leading man of her life stands out so strongly ever since he got the part.

In her Instagram post, she threw back one of the first articles written by Rolling Stone back in 2022 describing Ryan Gosling’s look as Ken to give a “major cringe.” She also highlighted portions of the article that said hateful things about the Crazy Stupid Love actor, like how people will be “lining up for therapy appointments” after watching his performance, and how he looks like a “creepy, older West Hollywood” man. I’d like to hope anyone who had negative first impressions about Gosling as Ken is eating their words right now considering his name appearing amongst the nominees of many award shows.

Everyone Else’s Responses to Eva Mendes’ Post

After Eva Mendes published her bold post about her partner, a lot of A-listers chimed in support of the Training Day actress. Read below the A+ responses from America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Teresa Palmer, and more.

America Ferrera: 👏👏👏 He is brilliant as Ken! Pulled off a triple somersault performance! We’re so lucky it was him and I’m so grateful for the way he showed up with his super stardom, and continues to show up to support all the women in this process!! He is a class act and insanely deserving and talented.

Simu Liu: Feeling so lucky to have beached off with the best of them!! A class act and a frighteningly talented actor who leads by example. 🙌❤️ //

Hannah Waddingham: This post is everything. Hear,Hear! X

Padma Lakshmi: That was such a hard role to pull off! And he did so with flying colors and made it so much fun AND endearing. I walked out of the theatre with my daughter and immediately said ‘he should get an Oscar nod for this’. I’m so glad he did. What he did, without ego, is pure genius. 👏👏👏🙌🙌

Teresa Palmer: He was incredible in it, an absolute standout and so deserving in his nom. Beautifully articulated statement too. Go Ryan! ❤️

Camila Alves McConaughey: 👏👏👏

Bella Thorne: 💗

With so many fans, Ryan Gosling isn’t short of love. The Lars and the Real Girl actor really did give it his all playing Ken. He was able to make us laugh, get angry, cry and sympathize with his character’s struggle of trying to define himself. With the strong transformation Gosling put into the part, it’s no wonder he’s getting Oscar attention.

While people may have been happy for the former Mickey Mouse Club member, we couldn’t help but think about the many Oscar snubs Barbie endured. Amid the eight Oscar nominations, Greta Gerwig was snubbed as director and the film’s lead Margot Robbie was practically “robbed” of a nomination too. The Best Supporting Actor nominee wasn’t happy about the news. In his response to his Barbie chums getting snubbed, he believed the Lady Bird director and Robbie were responsible for the Best Picture nominee breaking the records that it did, and that “there’s no Ken without Barbie.”

Even though it was a shame that Ryan Gosling got polarizing responses when he first appeared on the scene as Ken, it’s a good thing that Eva Mendes was there by his side through it all, and is still there now to defend him against any haters. While it wasn’t fair for his Barbie pals to get snubbed, at least the Remember the Titans actor will be at the Academy to represent the movie and the performance that had critics and fans sending praise for him. Barbie is available to watch now on your Max subscription.

Some of his all-time favorite TV shows are BTAS, Breaking Bad, Sanford and Son, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Better Call Saul and Atlanta. And when it comes to movies, Beverly Hills Cop, A Raisin in the Sun, Toy Story, Iron Man, Star Wars, and Wall Street are among his favorites. He also enjoys a good pizza (preferably with pepperoni and mushrooms) while he's watching entertaining films and TV series.</p>

The 2024 movie schedule is filled with some awesome titles, many of which are serious blockbusters. A feature that’s sure to make an impression on cinema buffs is The Fall Guy, which we know a bit about at this point. It’s an action thriller, which sees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in the two leading roles. They’re not the only notable names in the mix, though, as the cast features several other famous faces, all of whom we’re going to discuss.

Based on the ‘80s TV show of the same name starring Lee Majors, the movie was originally conceived as another vehicle for Dwayne Johnson, who would’ve teamed up with filmmaker McG. But by 2020, it was reported that Ryan Gosling was working on a similar-sounding project with Iron Man 3 and Hobbs & Shaw writer Drew Pearce and David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2, Bullet Train and more. The production was revealed to be The Fall Guy in 2022 and, by August of that year, Emily Blunt was confirmed for the action movie. The story centers on a veteran stuntman working with the star who he doubled for (and was replaced by) years prior. And suddenly, said actor disappears. Given that the cast has now been filled out, it’s only right that we make note of the rest of the stars. Now, let’s get to it:

Ryan Gosling

What hasn’t the Canadian superstar done at this point? His film career began with Remember the Titans, Believer and other flicks, yet it was 2004’s The Notebook that really earned him recognition. From there, he’s landed roles in dramas such as Half Nelson, The Place Beyond the Pines, La La Land and First Man. Of course, the A-lister is also known for his roles in blockbuster fare, with The Nice Guys, Blade Runner 2049 and The Gray Man being among his action-related outings. In the summer of 2023, he stars in the highly anticipated Barbie, in which he plays a Ken (complete with holy abs and platinum blonde hair). Gosling plays washed-up stuntman Colt Seavers in the upcoming thriller and, as seen in the Fall Guy trailer, the role suits him.

Emily Blunt

A titan of the stage and screen, Emily Blunt has truly been around the block. She made her big-screen debut in drama film My Summer of Love, before solidifying herself as a force in the iconic fashion dramedy The Devil Wears Prada. She’s since starred in The Jane Austen Book Club, Charlie Wilson’s War, The Adjustment Bureau and more. Though she shines in smaller films, she’s also a bonafide blockbuster mainstay, thanks to Looper, Sicario, Jungle Cruise and the like. But her crowning achievement in the realm of thrillers is Edge of Tomorrow. She more than held her own alongside co-star Tom Cruise, who apparently called her a pussy. (Blunt has since clarified the comments) The actress, who’ll appear in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer in the summer of 2023, plays Colt Seavers' first-time director ex-girlfriend, Jody Moreno.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

Most actors would love to have a career like Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s, which includes a wide array of productions. While he began appearing in films during the 2000s, his breakthrough role wouldn’t come until 2010 in the form of the comic book film Kick-Ass, and he’d star in the 2013 sequel as well. Taylor-Johnson has starred in small drama films like Nocturnal Animals and A Million Little Pieces, which he co-wrote. However, it’s the big-budget circuit where he’s truly made his name. He’s dazzled audiences in major movies, including Godzilla, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tenet, The King’s Man and Bullet Train, on which he worked with David Leitch. He’ll also return to the superhero genre in late 2023 in Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter. Taylor-Johnson will play the missing star in Leitch’s latest, a character by the name of Tom Ryder.

Winston Duke

A lot of people would probably agree with me when I say Winston Duke is a special kind of talent, and his rise within Hollywood has been swift. After making guest appearances on TV shows like Law & Order: SVU and Modern Family, he jumped to the big screen in a big way via Black Panther in 2018. His portrayal of the mighty M’Baku has earned considerable praise, and he only improved on his work in the 2022 sequel, Wakanda Forever. In between those two box office hits, he also starred in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame as well as Us, Nine Days and Spenser Confidential. Per reports, Duke joins The Fall Guy as Colt's best friend, Dan Tucker, a stunt coordinator.

Stephanie Hsu

Any production would be fortunate to have a performer like Stephanie Hsu, who’s proving herself to be one of the entertainment industry’s best and brightest. She booked TV gigs in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Awkwafina if Nora from Queens and Poker Face, with her next small-screen role coming by way of American Born Chinese. When it comes to movies, Hsu played a small role in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. She took the movie world by storm in 2022, however, with her show-stopping (and Oscar-nominated) performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Hsu, who was a breakout star in The Spongebob Musical, returned to the big screen in the summer of 2023 with the comedy film Joy Ride. The Universal Pictures movie tapped Hsu to play Alma Milan, the assistant to Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Tom Ryder.

Hannah Waddingham

Hannah Waddingham is easily one of the most popular actresses in the business right now. She’s been in the game for some time, earning notoriety from shows like Game of Thrones and Krypton. The series that just about everyone seems to know her from, though, is Ted Lasso, which earned her a Primetime Emmy. Since then, she’s been nabbed some solid film roles in The Hustle and Hocus Pocus. And she’s signed on to the cast of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two as well as the animated Garfield movie. Waddingham plays film producer Gail Meyer in The Fall Guy, marking yet another instance in which she portrays someone who’s large and in charge.

Teresa Palmer

Another cast member with plenty of experience under their belt is Teresa Palmer, who’s amassed more than a few recognizable credits in nearly the past two decades. Some might remember her from The Grudge 2, The Sorceror’s Apprentice, I Am Number Four and Warm Bodies. She’s starred in her fair share of thrillers as well. When it comes to that genre, she can claim, Point Break, Lights Out, Hacksaw Ridge and Message from the King among others. And in terms of TV, she most recently starred as the lead of A Discovery of Witches, which ended after three seasons in 2022 Palmer’s role in the Ryan Gosling-led movie was not initially disclosed, but it was later revealed that she plays Tom Ryder's girlfriend, Iggy Starr.

The Fall Guy is now available to stream with a Peacock subscription!

Not a fan of the many mythic mountain creatures that roam the woods or spelunking, she moved to Richmond, VA as soon as she turned 18 and later graduated from VCU with a degree in Creative Advertising with a focus on Copywriting. After working through college in a number of motorcycle bars, dives, and 24 hour diners, she started freelance writing. She joined the CinemaBlend team back in 2020 as a TV and film news writer, and writes a feature every now and again. In addition to writing about all things Hollywood, she also creates blog content geared toward parents and readers. As a copywriter, she helps give women-owned businesses their voice.	</p>

<p><strong>What They're Into</strong>: Carlie is into anything her 2-year-old son is into - right now it’s dinosaurs and videos of guys with chainsaws cutting down trees. Very niche. Seriously though, it’d be easier to say what she’s NOT into, because she likes pretty much anything that comes from a creative mind. As far as film and TV goes, her tastes are largely made up of B-Movie Bruce Campbell films, anything that Adam Sandler has so much as breathed on, and a genre she fondly refers to as “trash culture” - think Eastbound &amp; Down and Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She doesn’t believe in bad movies, but her favorite is a toss up between The Crow and Dude Where’s My Car. Her favorite show is Psych, but she will throw down over Survivor being the best reality show ever created. She loves reading celebrity memoirs, watching Nic Cage talk about literally anything, and listening to her son try to pronounce "Triceratops". </p>

Check out the post below:

A photo posted by on

Teresa Palmer says she has been nursing nonstop since having her first child back in 2014, and her journey including a number of tandem years as she continued to have children. She’s currently pregnant with her 4th child, and she will continue to nurse her daughter as well as the baby once her newest child is born.

Breastfeeding very rarely comes easy to mothers, even though it’s arguably the most natural thing a human can do. Women who attempt to nurse their children undergo both physical and mental obstacles. It can be incredibly painful and exhausting, and it requires women to give up their body autonomy in a time when they are emotionally vulnerable.

In her post, Teresa Palmer gives her love to the mothers who wanted to but were unable to fulfill their own breastfeeding journey, saying she was privileged enough to live out her own. She also reveals how much judgement she has faced from both the media and onlookers when out feeding her children over the years, which is a common occurrence for women who choose to nurse their kids.

The actress has received overwhelming support on her post from both fans and other celebrity moms. Katherine Schwarzenegger, wife and mother to Chris Pratt’s elusive daughter, shared her love for Palmer in a sweet comment on the actress' post:

Holy Smokes you are a goddess

Katherine Schwarzenegger isn’t the only one who has high praises for Teresa Palmer. Vinessa Shaw, who played Allison in Hocus Pocus, commented on the post giving props to Palmer. The actress also revealed a piece of her own breastfeeding journey, which is also impressive. Here it is in her own words:

SHERO! I breastfed for 2.5 years. But only one child!

Not every mother who has dreams of nursing their baby can see that reality, though. NCIS Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah commented on Teresa Palmer’s post, throwing her love Palmer’s way while also stating she wishes she could have had enough milk to nurse her own. In her own words:

What a blessing to have that much milk! I wish! Respect to you for doing what’s best for your family

National Breastfeeding Week has come to an end, but it’s still super inspiring seeing so many famous women come together and support each other as mothers, especially when others can cast their own judgements on parenting choices and the ways in which women chooses to feed their babies. We’re sending so much love to all the moms out there, and a huge congrats to Teresa Palmer for her breastfeeding milestone and upcoming baby!

This may make it sound like her life and entertainment choices are only giggle-focused (not totally untrue), but she also enjoys warm-hearted dramadies (Gilmore Girls, Lovesick), creepy stuff (The X-Files, Evil), sci-fi/fantasy (most Star Treks, The Witcher), romantic shows (Bridgerton, Sweet Magnolias, Outlander), and the occasional drama (The Wire, Vikings: Valhalla). Everyone's looking to capture the built-in audience of a best-selling novel and convince them to watch something they loved reading be brought to life. AMC and BBC America's A Discovery of Witches, based on the first book in Deborah Harkness' All Souls Trilogy, is no different, and those behind the series have done quite a few things right when it comes to adapting the jam-packed story. There's no shortage of gorgeous locations, swoon-worthy actors, danger or mystery on board, and while those who read the book might be tempted to dissect everything that's changed or missing, what they see on screen will absolutely leave them wanting more.

For those of you uninitiated to the tale at hand, A Discovery of Witches focuses on Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), a Yale history of science professor who has gone back to Oxford to research alchemy. While working in the library, Diana retrieves a mysterious book, Ashmole 782, which sets off a chain of events that leads to the reluctant witch discovering her true nature, while also becoming a target for every magical creature who has been searching for the lost manuscript for centuries. It isn't long before Diana loses faith in her friends and can't be sure who she can trust anymore as she tries to protect herself, her loved ones and also find answers to the many mysteries surrounding the book and her own heritage.

OK, who are we kidding? Of course Diana knows who to trust. As much as A Discovery of Witches is historical fiction that centers on magical creatures who've been hiding among humans in plain sight for thousands of years, this is also a love story. And, while Diana is certainly put off by mysterious, hottie vampire Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode) when he first appears to her, it doesn't take long for her to trust him with her life, and he quickly comes to trust her with his as the two band together to figure out what Diana can really do and what Ashmole 782 means for the history (and future) of creatures everywhere.

Now, if you think that's story enough, then you really don't know A Discovery of Witches. The full scope of the book is (surprisingly) pretty easily included in the series, and this entails vampire / witch / deamon genetics and history, creature politics, vampire family dynamics, ancient prophecies and more. A Discovery of Witches, which comes from executive producers Harkness, Jane Tranter, Ashley Pharoah (Life on Mars) and Julie Gardner (Doctor Who, Torchwood), manages to take what was a sometimes difficult but nonetheless engrossing read and distill all the important bits into eight tidy episodes of television.

I realize that trying to grasp all that A Discovery of Witches covers might make it seem like too much, but one of the best parts of the book, and also the show, is how everything is woven together so that all these seemingly disparate parts make sense as a whole. There are also a ton of characters to be accounted for, and being able to have a clear face to put with a name, creature type and allegiance helps make the story much easier to keep up with on screen.

As you might imagine, Diana and Matthew would have even less time for fun, romancey stuff once she's launched into this world of duplicitous witches, vamps and deamons if they didn't have allies. Diana's always been able to count on her witchy aunts Sarah (Alex Kingston) and Emily (Valarie Pettiford), who still live in her hometown in upstate New York and raised her from the time she was a little girl, and they're right there for Diana as the danger mounts.

For his part, Matthew has his vampire mother, Ysabeau (Lindsay Duncan), who tries to dissuade both of them from pursuing their forbidden romantic relationship but soon realizes how committed they already are to one another and pledges her, literally undying, support. He also has allies in family caretaker Marthe (Sorcha Cusack), his vamp science team of Marcus (Edward Bluemel) and Miriam (Aiysha Hart), vampire brother Baldwin (Trystan Gravelle), a high ranking creature who's sometimes torn between his duty to all creatures and to that of his family, and his long-time deamon friend Hamish (Greg McHugh).

For every ally, though, there are several creatures who would do anything to get their hands on Diana, Matthew and what they know about Ashmole 782, including lie, cheat, double cross, kidnap and torture. They're threatened by a host of vampires and witches, especially Peter Knox (Owen Teale), Satu (Malin Buska), Gerbert (Trevor Eve), Domenico (Gregg Chillin) and Matthew's spurned lover Juliette (Elarica Johnson).

A Discovery of Witches is filled with strong performances. Goode does a wonderful job of switching back and forth between a menacing and mysterious vampire and the hero / gentle lover Diana needs to help her through this, and stands up to the job of leading man quite well. Buska is a special standout as the witch Satu, who clearly has a love of fellow witches but will go to any lengths to get her hands on Diana, because she thinks it's the only way to help witch-kind as a whole.

One of the weak spots in casting, unfortunately, is Palmer as Diana. While she does a good job of playing to the character's defiant, stubborn tendencies and definitely plays the romantic lead well in general, I have to admit to seeing this character very different in my head because of how she was described in the book. As a serious academic, and someone who rows on a regular basis for exercise, Diana was sold as being more mature in the book, as well as being a bit more substantial physically. The show also left out a part of the character I really loved, which is the fact that her hair is always a static-filled mess because of the immense power that hums around her all the time, even though she refuses to try using it. As I said, Palmer isn't a complete disaster as Diana, I just wish she had more gravitas and physical presence for the part.

And, that leads to one of my (relatively) minor issues with the pace of the story. In general, all of the pieces for this very multidimensional story fit together nicely and flow really well. You get just enough questions and answers for the many layers of mystery in each episode, and are left wanting more when the season ends. But, because Palmer is missing a certain amount of bearing in her role as Diana, the love story actually feels like it moves way too fast. By the time Matthew has to leave Diana for a bit, and she loses her mind to the point where she accidentally calls on powers she didn't know she had, it feels melodramatic, hysterical and a bit nutty.

There's really no sense of how many days, weeks or months this story might be taking place over. Because the other parts of the story move so well, it's not an issue there, but when it comes to developing a romance, even when allowing for vampiric attraction and magic, Diana and Matthew's complete devotion to each other feels rushed. Now, once they're clearly together, it's fine because they do seem to fit each other, but how they get to that point will probably seem sudden to most viewers.

It should also be noted that A Discovery of Witches looks amazing. If you're a fan of sumptuous design, majestic locations, ancient buildings and atmospheric scenes, this show has you covered. From the look of Oxford's Bodleian Library and the surrounding city, to the French countryside and village that holds Matthew's vampire family home (which just happens to be an ancient fortress / castle), and the picturesque town where Diana's aunts raised her, there's no shortage of wonderful things to feast your eyes on which are also necessary for the story, and often play huge parts in it.

All in all, A Discovery of Witches is not to be missed, either for fans of the book or fans of romance, fantasy and historical tales. The show premieres on Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. EST on AMC and BBC America.

Batman's corner of the DCEU is growing, and the solo Batman movie will soon blow the hero's mythos wide open by introducing a ton of legendary villains. However, we still know very little about the many villains who will appear, or even the actors who will play them. Now it seems that Hacksaw Ridge actress Teresa Palmer wants to get in on the action by playing iconic femme fatale, Talia Al Ghul. She explained:

I was going to be her. I think Marion Cotillard played, I don't know how to pronounce her last name by the way, um she played Talia Al Ghul in one of the Batman's. I remember thinking, okay well, obviously she's going to play Talia Al Ghul, but if there's ever an opportunity I would absolutely love it. Put it out there. Can you put it out there for me?

During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Teresa Palmer spoke passionately about her desire to take on the role of Talia Al Ghul in the solo Batman movie. Inspired by Marion Cotillard's performance as the villainess in The Dark Knight Rises (a.k.a one of the most predictable twists of all time) Palmer asserted that she would definitely want to take on the role of Ra's Al Ghul's daughter if ever offered the opportunity. She wants the role, and she's definitely willing to campaign for it if necessary.

Oddly enough, the opportunity for Teresa Palmer to take on this role has come up before. Prior to the inception of the DCEU, she was slated to take on the role of Talia in George Miller's ill-fated Justice League film. Although that film never materialized, her involvement as the deadly female assassin could definitely be adapted into the new continuity of Justice League and Batman films.

Introducing Talia Al Ghul to the DCEU actually makes plenty of sense from a narrative point of view. The universe has already established the guilt and grief that Batman feels for the death of Jason Todd. Bringing Talia into the fold could allow the Batman franchise to also introduce Bruce Wayne's son, Damian Wayne, and explore his relationship with a new, more violent Robin. Of course, this would require the film to skip over fan-favorite Robin, Tim Drake, but it's still a narrative avenue worth exploring.

At this point there's no guarantee that Teresa Palmer will ever get the opportunity to play Talia Al Ghul. However, given her obvious talent and enthusiasm, Ben Affleck would be wise to give her serious consideration. We will bring you more information related to the Batman solo movie as new details become available to us. Make sure to check out Teresa Palmer in Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge on November 4.

Please excuse the following pun, but the zombie genre has more or less been done to death. It's incredibly difficult to try something new with this well-worn category of films, but somehow Warm Bodies managed to do just that when it hit the scene in 2013. The light-hearted comedy took the zombie genre and crafted a surprisingly complex love story between a young woman and a (deceased) young man. Fans of the film have wondered if a sequel would ever come to fruition, and actress Teresa Palmer thinks it's a distinct possibility.

While speaking with WIRED to promote Lights Out at San Diego Comic-Con, Teresa Palmer opened up about the potential of a Warm Bodies sequel, and revealed that it actually could happen. She said:

I've been hearing rumors that there will be a sequel. I've been hearing this rumor for about 18 months to a year and it hasn't happened yet, so I'm cautiously optimistic---but we shall see. I think they're working on the script but who knows? I would love it.

No sequel for Warm Bodies has officially received the green lit just yet, but Teresa Palmer seems "cautiously optimistic" that something of that nature could happen in the near future. She has heard numerous rumors about such an endeavor, and said rumors seem to indicate that a script might already be in development for the next installment.

These rumors seem further bolstered by the fact that a literary Warm Bodies sequel is already on the way. Author Isaac Marion has been working on a sequel called The Burning World, which is slated to hit shelves next year. With a second book on the way (not to mention a previously published prequel) these rumors of a second movie seem entirely based in reality.

All that being said, it will be interesting to see where this potential new story takes the Warm Bodies universe from here. The original movie -- which followed a young zombie who falls for a human girl -- ended with a fairly definitive resolution, so a follow-up story would have to seriously change things up in order to sell audiences on the need for a sequel. It needs to be done right; a cheap cash grab would ruin the charm of the original.

In all honesty, I think that a second Warm Bodies might be exactly what the zombie genre needs right now. We've all become so accustomed to undead action, so film and television stories centering around the walking dead typically rely on little more than excessive amounts of gore and new, interesting ways to kill zombies. A new Warm Bodies could continue to take the genre in a different direction by focusing on story and relationships, while still maintaining all of the typical zombies tropes we have come to know and love.

Make sure to stay tuned for more information pertaining to the possible Warm Bodies sequel; we will bring you more details as they become available to us. For now you can catch Teresa Palmer in her latest horror movie Lights Out, which is currently in theaters.

Passionate about entertainment since grade school, the movies have always held a special place in his life, which explains his current occupation. Writing in some way, shape, or form since fifth grade, Mike’s time at CinemaBlend started in 2014, when he was hired as a freelance writer. In 2019, Mr. Reyes became a full time fixture of the CB staff, a decision that the management still hotly debates to this very day, questioning whether it was “a good idea, or the best idea?” Mike graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, but swore off of running for public office a long time ago. You can hear him on various podcasts, you just need to know where to look.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He's Into</strong>: This is a tough question to answer, as Mike’s kind of into a lot of things. Most prominently, he is CinemaBlend’s James Bond expert, thanks to being raised with a healthy appreciation for the storied spy series and anything espionage related. Mike has several other specialized fields that he’s been passionate about since his early years. Among those interests are breaking down the ins and outs of time travel, studying and admiring Large Scale Aggressors, Titans, Kaiju, and dinosaurs; as well as detective work. Adjacent to his entertainment interests, Mr. Reyes enjoys the worlds of high end mens fashion (eyewear included), fine alcohol and cocktails, and the comforts of a good book or video game. If you ask nicely, he might even dip back into his experience as a singer, just for fun.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He's Excited About Right Now</strong>: The continuing hunt for the new James Bond, any and all updates about how Adam Wingard and Dan Stevens are turning Godzilla vs. Kong 2 into a stealth sequel to The Guest, and the potential for Tron: Ares to somehow be the sequel Tron: Ascension was promised to be. Also, a good excuse to be sent on another theme park assignment, and anything Guillermo del Toro has cooking,</p> </dc:description>

The fear of the dark is a common fear that's woven throughout humanity's survival strategies, as well as its popular culture. So, obviously, the premise behind Lights Out is one that looks pretty damned frightening, and this latest trailer certainly backs that up. Prepare to keep the lights on tonight, as you can watch the trailer below.

The second trailer was released through Warner Bros earlier today, and there's a fair amount of new footage included in our new look at the James Wan produced film. Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) and her younger brother have always had issues with the dark, and the terrors they thought it may hold. As it turns out, those fears weren't as unfounded as they were lead to believe, especially considering their mother, Sophie (Maria Bello) happens to have a special friend in the dark. A friend by the name of Diana that has no intention of leaving, and has Sophie's full co-operation. Whenever the lights go out, Diana is waiting for her prey.

Lights Out previously existed as a short film created and directed by David F. Sandberg, the man who is also directing the feature film version for Warner Bros / New Line. While this is far from the first time a film has found itself originating out of a successful short film on the internet, this is one of those cases where the expansion looks like it can actually work. Though you're free to debate us on that point, as we've included the original short below. While the concept of Lights Out has evolved from what you'll see in the short below, the basic concept is still pretty freaky.

In a summer that's already brought us The Conjuring 2, horror fans won't go hungry if Lights Out turns out to be more of a dud than we've been lead to believe. However, James Wan's stamp of approval does still count for something, and with the short actually delivering some powerful scares without resorting to cheap tricks, the odds are we've got some strong scares coming our way. Of course, the PG-13 rating could prove us wrong, but with the dark / altered lighting of most of the attack scenes in the film, they could get away with more than the average movie-goer would assume.

Lights Out will try to scare up an audience on July 22nd.

Hollywood is kind of a messed up place. This is actually the central premise to Terrence Malick’s new movie Knight of Cups. Christian Bale plays a man trying to deal with the insanity that is Hollywood. Bale himself is a very private person who tries to stay out of the Hollywood scene as much as possible when he’s not actually acting. This has a tendency to lead to problems for the actor when he’s on set, as he can’t tell the actors from the extras.

Christian Bale spends so much time outside of Hollywood that he is apparently not that familiar with many of his fellow actors. In his defense, his Knight of Cups director was apparently no help in this regard. According to Bale’s interview with EveningStandard, Terrence Malick wouldn’t let Bale know which people on the set were actors and which were not, and even went as far as to lie to him, telling him that some actors were actually extras. This led to what must have been an incredibly odd conversation for one actress on the set.

We were filming in a strip club, and Teresa Palmer’s there in her little silver hotpants and I’m asking her how long she’d been dancing for? Does she enjoy it? What got her into it? I had no idea that she was an actress until about a week after working with her. Suddenly I saw a billboard with her face on it and I went ‘What?’

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall during that conversation. We’re dying to know how Teresa Palmer responded to the actor’s questions. She must have realized that Christian Bale had no idea who she was and just gone along with it. Otherwise it wouldn’t have taken him a week to figure it out. Of course she may have had instructions from Terrence Malick not to tell him. That sounds like something he would do. We suppose it could all be a testament to Palmer’s acting ability that she was so good in the role that Bale assumed she was a professional. That’s...something.

Part of the problem that likely led to the confusion is the fact that Christian Bale never had a copy of the script. He was apparently just dropped into scenes for Knight of Cups, and Terrence Malick would just direct him to go interact with people on the set. Apparently everybody else knew what was going on, but he did not.

So apparently combining Terrence Malick’s bizarre style of making movies with Christian Bale’s tendency to ignore Hollywood leads to some odd experiences for professional actresses. We’re very curious to see what Knight of Cups will finally be when it comes out early next year.

<p><strong>What She's Into</strong>: Adrienne will maintain until her dying day (and probably well after that, if possible) that 9 to 5 is one of the best movies ever made, though she also holds a special place in her heart for Auntie Mame, Office Space, and Bridesmaids. Adrienne likes cooking, but also ordering delivery so that strangers can be forced to bring her food, and believes that most days are incomplete without chocolate, reading, and staring out the window to see if any wild animals are engaging in shenanigans.</p>

Filmdom has, once again, turned to one of its favorite author’s for romantic source material. The Choice is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name and features a lot of love triangle goodness with an extra dose of adorable puppies and wise old narrators. And now there's a new trailer for you to check out.

The story takes place in a small coastal town in North Carolina, where Travis Parker (Benjamin Walker) enjoys the good pleasures of a simple, single life. He believes that settling down will only cramp his style, but when Gaby Holland (Teresa Palmer) moves in next door, things get more complicated than he ever imagined. Things get pretty ooey-gooey and lovey-dovey, along with a heavy dose of heightened, soap opera level relationship twists, which, as you can see from the trailer, are at least partially given away in less than three minutes.

The movie is the based on Nicholas Sparks’ twelfth novel, and this will be the the eleventh adaptation of one of his books to hit the screen. Sparks’ first literary effort was published in 1996 when he was just 26-years-old, and he’s published one or two books in almost every year since then. He's sold over 100 million copies worldwide in over 50 languages, each of his books have been New York Times bestsellers, and his eighteenth novel, will be published this month.

It’s hard to dispute the unmistakable pull of cash registers ringing for filmmakers and studios looking for a sure investment. It’s also hard to deny that his work has been accused of showing a repetitive and overly saccharine view of life and relationships. Just taking a look at the posters and casts for each of the films based on his books tells you that they’re all about star-crossed lovers in a small town finding each other against the odds or coming together for the first time.

At this point, even though I’ve only ever watched one Nicholas Sparks inspired movie in my whole life (I couldn’t resist the glorious schmaltz of The Notebook, either), I think I speak for a lot of movie lovers when I say that it almost doesn’t feel like a new year until we get another Sparks treatment on screen.

These films have become so ubiquitous that you can pick the trailers for each new one out of a crowd of romantic drama previews. They're not so easy to tell apart, howver, as they usually feature more than a few similarities that are on display in The Choice. Pretty white people that, apparently, only know other white people, check. Views of the ocean at sunrise or sunset, check. Lovers kissing in the rain, on the beach, or in some other idyllic setting, check. Deep confessions of hot and steamy, yet still comfortably chaste, love, check. Some horrific accident or illness that comes out of nowhere, check.

Well, we won’t have to wait much longer for the next Nicholas Sparks creation to hit the big screen. The film debuts on February 5, 2016. You know, just in time for singles to feel extra alone on Valentine’s Day.

After graduating Boston University and earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he took a part-time job as a staff writer for CinemaBlend, and after six months was offered the opportunity to move to Los Angeles and take on a newly-created West Coast Editor position. Over a decade later, his title has changed, and his role on the site has continued to advance. In addition to conducting filmmaker interviews and contributing to the news and feature content of the site, Eric also oversees the Movie Reviews section, writes the the weekend box office report (published Sundays), and is the site's resident Stephen King expert. He has two King-related columns: <a href="https://www.cinemablend.com/tag/adapting-stephen-king">Adapting Stephen King</a> (chronicling the fully history of King's works adapted for film and television) and <a href="https://www.cinemablend.com/tag/the-king-beat">The King Beat</a> (a weekly roundup of the biggest news in the world of Stephen King books, movies, TV, and more)</p>

<p><strong>What He’s Into</strong>: When he isn’t excitedly waiting for the lights to go down in the movie theater, Eric can often be found with his nose in a book, and it’s a safe bet that it is something by Stephen King or a comic book omnibus (Marvel or DC – he doesn’t discriminate). He is a long-suffering fan of the New York Mets, still waiting for them to win a championship in his lifetime, and the highs and lows of the experience have driven him subtly mad over the last twenty-five years. An avid collector of physical media and prop replicas, his apartment is the equivalent of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard_Global_Seed_Vault">seed vault</a> for movies, television, and comics.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He’s Excited About Right Now</strong>: Life is a perpetual countdown clock waiting for the next Stephen King book/movie/TV show, but Eric is stoked for the renaissance of original horror, thrilled by the Phase 5 and 6 slates of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and already sick of waiting for Dune: Part Two.</p> </dc:description>

With actors like Edgar Ramirez and Ray Winstone on board, the upcoming remake of Point Break sits in a good place where male actors are concerned, but now they are ready to start playing on the other side of the gender line. Alcon Entertainment has officially announced that Australian actress Teresa Palmer is now in talks to play the female lead in the new action movie.

Set to be directed by Ericson Core, the filmmaker behind the 2006 Mark Wahlberg football movie Invincible, Point Break will once again tell the story of a young FBI agent named Johnny Utah (set to be played by Luke Bracey) who goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of bank robbers who also happen to have a passion for extreme sports. Ramirez will be playing Bodhi, the leader of the criminals originally portrayed by Patrick Swayze and Winstone will reportedly be Pappas, Utah's handler brought to life by Gary Busey in Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 movie. Sadly there is no information in Deadline's article about the role Teresa Palmer will be taking, but if the original is anything to go by she will probably be playing Tyler, the young woman who teaches Johnny to surf and winds up being his romantic interest.

There were a few years recently where Palmer simply couldn't catch a break at the box office, but it's possible those times are coming to an end. Between 2010 and 2011 she was in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, I Am Number Four and Take Me Home Tonight, all of which failed to get any attention from audiences. Last year, however, she played the lead female role in Jonathan Levine's Warm Bodies and not only earned critical acclaim for her performance but saw the film make $116 million globally on a $35 million reported budget.

Point Break will presumably be Teresa Palmer's next big project, but she has a good amount of stuff that she's been working on coming up. She is playing the lead in the Kriv Stenders Australian thriller Kill Me Three Times, has a role in Terrence Malick's Knight Of Cups, is part of John Hillcoat's Triple Nine ensemble, and will be starring opposite Liam Hemsworth, Billy Bob Thornton and John Malkovich in Matt Shakman's Cut Bank.

Palmer will probably be one of the last if not the last lead cast in Point Break, given that the movie is scheduled to start rolling cameras in just 10 days. The script, which was written by Kurt Wimmer (the Total Recall remake), will reportedly require the production to take place all over the world, stopping in four continents. Shooting locations will include Germany, Austria, Italy, Mexico, Venezuela, French Polynesia, and India. You'll be able to find the finished result in theaters when Warner Bros. releases it on August 7, 2015.

Director John Hillcoat is pretty excellent when it comes to rugged films about outlaws, with 2012’s Lawless and 2005’s The Proposition as obvious standouts, but his upcoming thriller Triple Nine will turn the good guys into the outlaws, and it’s just gained a giant cast of talented actors that will almost certainly make this the biggest film of his career. The previously cast Chiwetel Ejiofor and Casey Affleck will be joined by Kate Winslet, Michael B. Jordon, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Michael Peña, and Gal Gadot. I would take a deep breath after saying all that, but I’m afraid someone else might join the project in the meantime.

Triple Nine didn’t just gain a huge cast, either. Deadline reports Open Road Films has preemptively snagged the domestic distribution rights, while Sierra/Affinity will be shopping it around for international buyers at the European Film Market. I’m guessing it won’t take long to attract many a studios’ deep pockets.

The film centers on a group of corrupt policemen who find themselves on the wrong end of a blackmail threat from the Russian mafia, and are tasked with performing a dangerous and nearly impossible heist. The plan will involve setting up and taking down a rookie cop to draw attention from the rest of the force, while part of the dirty cop squad are across the city working on the actual job. Everything goes haywire when the rookie cop survives his attack, and even more double-crossing and dirty tricks come into play. There are hints of many other heist action films, but I’m betting the script from Hillcoat and Matt Cook will feel like an original story.

While there's no word on which actor will be playing what parts, I’m pretty sure we can count on either Jordon or Paul as the rookie cop - although I can easily see Paul as a no-smiles member of the Russian mob. Really, it’s equally possible Gadot or Palmer will take the role.

Jordan and Winslet were in two of this past weekend’s debuts, That Awkward Moment and Labor Day, respectively, and Paul will soon be seen in the video game quasi-adaptation Need for Speed. Peña will soon star as labor leader Cesar Chavez in the biopic that takes his name, and Palmer is starring in the romantic sci-fi Parts Per Billion. You may have heard Gadot’s name a time or two recently, as she’ll portray Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman/Superman movie.

Open Road is planning on putting Triple Nine out in theaters some time in 2015. Even if you happen to be unfamiliar with Hillcoat’s features, you were still probably one of the many millions who saw his latest work, the culture-friendly Super Bowl commercial from Coca Cola that became something of an Internet phenomenon (for all the wrong reasons). You can watch it below, but save any racially undignified remarks for the dinner table.

Every year, millions of people descend on Las Vegas, hell bent on having a damn good time. For some, that involves trying (and usually failing) to take money from the casino. For others, that involves clubbing, getting hammered, seeing Penn and Teller, going to a strip club, and/or screaming VEGAS!!!! at unreasonable volumes. The key to Las Vegas is that it can be damn near anything to anyone. It offers a seventy-two hour or so timeout from real life. Everywhere an observer looks, there are overt signs of tourists having unreasonable amounts of fun.

The latest film to riff off this expectation of fun is Last Vegas. Starring Morgan Freeman, Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline, the PG-13 comedy seems to follow four old dudes who want to turn back the clock and have another misadventure before getting too fucking old for hijinks, I think. I haven’t exactly seen it, but based on the mediocre trailer and the meh minus reviews, I’m pretty confident we’re in for an older quartet working their way through all the Vegas-y things we’ve come to expect and trying desperately not to die. That sounds inoffensive and probably passable enough, but it doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel.

I want to see a Vegas movie that defies expectations and goes a little stranger (like The Cooler). I want to see one that tackles one of the more secretive, bummer subplots bubbling beneath the Sin City surface and crying out for its own film. I want to see a movie about the one-time gangster paradise that has the courage to tone it down and fixate on the more monotonous and seemingly boring aspects of Las Vegas vacations and local life. I want to see one of these six films.

The Tiredness That Comes With Getting Drunk Too Early

Starring: Dane DeHaan as "Tired" Ted Murphy and Miles Teller and Donald Glover as his very awake, right level of drunk friends Trevor and Salamander.

Going to Las Vegas is a lot like tailgating as a college student before a big football game. There is alcohol everywhere, and without any obligations owed to the real world for at least a day, there is always a temptation to dive in DuckTales style into one of those huge Fat Tuesday's drinks. On the one hand, hitting the bottle early can prove a great way to spice up 11 AM and make afternoon craps games a whole lot less awkward. On the other hand, it can also torpedo your entire night, as our hero Tired Ted discovers when he realizes, much to his horror, that all he really wants to do is go to bed at 9 PM on a Saturday.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy solution to this predicament. His loud, obnoxious and right level of drunk (for Vegas) friends Trevor and Salamander (pronounced SAL-A-MANDDDDDDDER) are planning to go until at least 3 AM, and it’s too late in the game to take a nap. So, rather than hear his sleepiness get referenced for the rest of their friendship, Tired Ted heroically decides to tough it out and plow forward, all while encountering second winds, red bulls and a hooker played by Gabourey Sidibe who claims her sexual energy could wake up coma patients.

Releasing Studio: Universal

The Horrible Drive Back To LA

Starring: Rob Corddry as Mike McDougal, Judy Greer as Melinda McDougal and Maggie Elizabeth Jones as Melissa McDougal

Mike McDougal lives in Los Angeles and has some disposable income. That means once a year or so, he’s culturally obligated to throw a few button down shirts, his wife and a big pile of cash (fuck paying Vegas ATM fees) into his Prius and drive nine miles an hour over the speed limit through the desert on the 15 and into Las Vegas. This year, on his wife’s insistence, he agrees to bring along their seven-year-old daughter, but thanks to her obsession with seeing the sharks at Mandalay Bay, the proposed leaving time of 10 AM winds up getting pushed back to 2:30 PM, which as any Los Angeles resident knows is a World War II level disaster.

Stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for two hundred and seventy miles, alongside a wife who really wants to make it home in time for The Good Wife, which she may have forgotten to DVR, and a daughter who can’t stop talking about how much she hates one of her first grade classmates (that stupid Alyssa), poor Mike is nearing his breaking point, especially given the twenty-three-year-old asshole behind him in the Beamer who seems to think honking will implore his fellow drivers to move faster. He knows if he lets his wife and daughter have it, he’ll eat death glares for the next six or seven hours, but he has to do something to break out of this funk. So, he does what any sensible middle-aged man who gives zero fucks would do: he takes to the shoulder and decides to gun it in hopes he can make it at least halfway back before getting the ticket he knows is coming.

Releasing Studio: Paramount

How Easy It Is To Get Lost Inside Caesar's Palace

Starring: Anna Kendrick as Rebecca, Ellie Kemper as Megyn, Lauren Ambrose as Jackie and Katrina Bowden as their idiot friend Beth.

Fresh off the plane and ready to put down their shit, no-nonsense Minneapolis girls Rebecca, Megyn and Jackie are excited to check into their suite at Caesar’s Palace and reconnect with their absent-minded friend Beth who recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue modeling. Unfortunately, they’re told by the woman at the counter that Beth already checked into the room but left a note indicating a) she has all the room keys, b) her cell phone is charging in the room and c) she’ll be waiting somewhere inside the mall at Caesar’s Palace for them to arrive.

Shot in real time, Lost In Caesar’s Palace follows our three heroes as they wander through the mall inside the gigantic Vegas hotel looking for their friend and more importantly, the room keys she possesses. At first in awe of the stunning architecture and painted ceilings, the ladies grow progressively more annoyed as they criss-cross in every which direction looking for their idiot friend in what could be the most confusing maze on Earth. Through shopping detours, horrible directions from drunk idiots and the occasional scream, they learn a little bit about life and absolutely nothing about the best way to navigate Caesar’s Palace.

Releasing Studio: Focus Features

Those Creepy Hooker Tickets People Hand Out

Starring: Tonita Castro as Rosa, Jaime Pressly as Shanelle, Ving Rhames as Legs, Teck "Money" Holmes as Ray Ray and Nick Offerman as The High Roller

Every night, hundreds of thousands of advertisements for prostitutes are dropped on the streets of Las Vegas. By the time tourists wake up with hangovers the next morning, all of those creepy little cards that range in rating from PG-13 to NC-17 are gone thanks to workers like Rosa and Ray Ray. Ordinarily, the two simply throw out all of the discarded advertisements, but thanks to a chance encounter, there’s a whole lot more at stake today.

Sometime around 3:30 AM, the High Roller, drunk as a skunk, met his dream woman, a prostitute who goes by a name that starts with an "s". She wrote down her number on one of those cards and passed it along, but in his hammered state, he dropped it somewhere on Las Vegas Boulevard between the Venetian and Paris. He wants it back and is willing to pay anyone who finds it a thousand dollars. Rosa and Ray Ray combine forces to take up the challenge, but they’ve got some competition in the form of Legs, a street performance artist who overhears the High Roller’s offer and decides to get that money for himself.

Releasing Studio: Lionsgate

Mean Mugging Sales Clerks At The Expensive Malls

Starring: Evan Rachel Wood as Beatrice, Nina Dobrev as Ariel and Teresa Palmer as the girl in the Target dress.

As employees inside Marni at Crystals, Beatrice and Ariel spend their days talking about their shared desire to move to Europe and the various shoppers who walk around the mall, an overwhelming majority of which can afford Starbucks, Pinkberry and little else in the immediate vicinity. Now and again, the ladies grow bored and actively try to coax women inside as a means to break up the crushing boredom of their eight-hour workdays, but more often, they sit near the window, judging and mean mugging any less than affluent-looking window shopper who gazes inside.

On her way into the store, the girl in the Target dress felt the sting of the mean mug, but that didn’t stop her from spending a healthy chunk of money and surprising the cashiers who thought they knew it all. Infatuated and obsessed with knowing how she has so much confidence, the two girls begin hanging out with the stranger and in the process, start learning a slew of details that are enough to completely upend their once judgmental worldviews. Look for this one to get some early Oscar buzz before slowly fizzling out by awards season.

Releasing Studio: Fox Searchlight

Loud Eurotrash Neighbors

Starring: Paul Giamatti as Michael Brown, Catherine Keener as Leslie Brown, Alexander Skarsgard as Bjorg and Benedict Cumberbatch as Reginald

An overwhelming majority of Las Vegas visitors choose to do their partying at clubs, inside casinos or just generally, out and about somewhere. A small minority, however, choose to treat their hotel rooms like European raves. Meet Bjorg and Reginald. They’re a newly married gay couple from Sweden/ Luxembourg on their honeymoon in Vegas. They love nothing more than playing their music loud, much to the chagrin of neighbors Michael and Leslie Brown who prefer to turn in around eleven.

Scheduled to stay in adjoining hotel rooms for the next six nights, Michael and Catherine decide to do everything they can to smoke their fellow travelers out, at least until they learn Reginald will soon begin working as an admissions offer at Duke, the same college the Brown’s daughter has her heart set on attending. So, with the help of some strong liquor and good intentions, they decide to take one for the team and befriend the Europeans in an effort to eventually get a leg up in the highly competitive admissions process. Be on the lookout for a great cameo from Anton Yelchin who plays Bjorg’s much younger former lover Evgeny and for several DJ sets from former Jersey Shore star Pauly D.

Releasing Studio: Warner Bros

As the crime-thriller Kill Me Three Times kicks off production in Perth and Western Australia the film’s makers have finally opened up about its mysterious plot line, while revealing newly added cast members. Aussie actors Teresa Palmer and Luke Hemsworth (yes, brother to Chris and Liam Hemsworth) have joined the ensemble cast that includes Gangster Squad’s Sullivan Stapleteon, Elysium’s Alice Braga, Cocktail’s Bryan Brown, 300: Rise of an Empire’s Callan Mulvey, and English comedy star Simon Pegg.

The film will offer a major change-up for Pegg and director Kriv Stenders. Instead of an outlandish comedy like The World’s End or a feel-good dramedy like Stender’s beloved Red Dog, Kill Me Three Times is a dark thriller that centers on one woman (Braga) linked to three dark tales of murder, blackmail, and vengeance. When the comedy darling was first cast last spring, Stenders was keeping quiet on Pegg’s part, admitting only it was a “delicious role.” However, Deadline reveals Pegg is set to play a hit man contracted by the husband (Mulvey) of a beautiful surf town singer (Braga) to kill her. Hemsworth has signed up to play a sweet surfer who wishes to save this singer from her would-be murderer. Brown’s a crooked cop, and Palmer will portray a sort of modern Lady Macbeth who urges a gambling addict (Stapleton) to pay off his debts with a risky life insurance scam.

Abbie Cornish was attached to the project in May, but no mention is made of her in the Deadline piece, suggesting Palmer has replaced her. This Aussie ingénue has been steadily trying to breakthrough Stateside for years now. But one film after another—from the fantasy-adventure The Sorcerer’s Apprentice to the raunchy comedy Take Me Home Tonight to the sci-fi adventure I Am Number Four--all proved disappointments. Even her starring role opposite Nicholas Hoult in the zombie rom-com Warm Bodies has done little to raise her reputation in the States, though the film was a modest box office success, earning $66 million domestically. To her credit, she has caught the notice of arthouse icon Terrence Malick, and should be seen in his mysterious Knight of Cups in 2014.

As for Luke Hemsworth, he hasn’t landed any films as noteworthy as The Avengers or The Hunger Games, but the former soap opera star has been carving out a reputation for himself in Australian cinema. He’s recently wrapped on a thriller written and directed by John V. Soto called The Reckoning. And following the conclusion of Kill Me Three Times, he’ll go into production on the World War I drama The 34th Battalion with Vinnie Jones.

Basically, Kill Me Three Times could well prove a major opportunity for both Palmer and Hemsworth. Stender’s last film, Red Dog was a huge hit in Australia, winning a string of awards as well as the title of the nation’s highest-grossing film of 2011. And with Pegg on board, Kill Me Three Times will be marketable outside of Oz in territories like the US and the UK. Those intrigued should look for the feature in 2014.

In particular, the first one is super amusing and looks into Nicholas Hoult and Rob Corddry learning to grunt effectively for their roles as zombies in the film. Hoult says that Corddry made it his goal to get the younger actor to crack up during the zombie scenes. Don’t take my word for it, though, check it out above before Warm Bodies hits Blu-ray and DVD on June 4.

The second clip features other lead Teresa Palmer, who talks about the role she plays in the zombie-oriented film and the fun she had working with veteran actor John Malkovich. The clip gives fans a hint at what their working relationship is like, but unfortunately, it isn’t quite as funny as the Corddry clip.

Warm Bodies is based on the popular novel by Isaac Marion and follows the tale of a world torn apart by zombies and how one young couple may be the catalyst for putting the pieces back together. The set will come chock full of extras, including numerous featurettes and deleted scenes with optional audio commentary from director Jonathan Levine.

They are currently filming up in Detroit and will be working through Christmas.

Horiuchi's directorial debut (he previously wrote the 2009 horror flick Circle of Eight) the new project is structured with interwoven stories a la Magnolia and Crash. The plot is set before a disastrous biological war as three separate couples are faced with life-altering decisions. The press release doesn't say who any of the actors will be playing, but it was previously revealed that the characters names will be Len, Mia, Andy, Esther, Anna and Erik. The film doesn't appear to have a distributor yet, but Celluloid Nightmares is handling world sales rights.

Anyone notice the strange number of Sin City actors in this mix? Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez have gotten back together to make the sequel, A Dame To Kill For, so perhaps Dawson, Bledel and Hartnett felt it was an appropriate time for a reunion. As of now Dawson is the only one out of the group who will actually appear in the follow-up, but it's still interesting to see them grouping together seven years after they first came together.

Because the end of Captain America: The First Avenger turned Steve Rogers into a capsicle for 70 years, it was pretty obvious that Haley Atwell’s role as Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be reduced to a one-time thing (barring any cameos with her in old age makeup). That said, Cap is still a young guy in the post-Avengers world and is going to need a female lead to keep things interesting. Add the latest rumor about Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Deadline has apparently gotten its hands on the list of actresses testing for the romantic interest in the upcoming superhero sequel. According to the site, Marvel Studios is currently testing "Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, Downton Abbey’s Jessica Findlay Brown, Warm Bodies’ Teresa Palmer, Knight Of Cups’ Imogen Poots and The Five Year Engagement‘s Alison Brie" for the part.

But whoever it may be, it’s possible she won’t be the only major female character in the movie. The source of the news is also hearing that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow may play a role in the movie as well. As of now few details are known about the movie, but Joe and Anthony Russo are set to direct and in addition to Chris Evans the movie will also feature Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie.

Brie is an interesting name to see on this list, as the Russo’s are executive producers on and have directed many episodes of Community. I’d personally love to see her get the part, as she’s been great in everything she’s in, from The Five Year Engagement to Mad Men.

But what do you think? Of the actresses above who would you want to see play the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Let us know in the comments section.

Though I wasn't born until three years before they were over, the 80s is a fun decade to look back on. The hair, the clothes, the music and the movies are all so ridiculous, but it all has a very special kind of charm. Earlier this year, Hot Tub Time Machine was the movie that tried to make us all nostalgic for those lost years, and it looks as though Take Me Home Tonight will fill that role in 2011.

Starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, and Teresa Palmer (as well as a host of others), the film takes us back to the summer of 1988 when a young slacker (Grace) and his two friends (Fogler and Faris) attend a party to celebrate their youth. Apple has posted the first trailer for the Michael Dowse film over at their website. Head over there if you want to catch it in HD or watch the video below.

The movie seems to have its bright spots and actually works pretty well up until the tone of the whole thing changes and everything becomes over-dramatic and angst-y. The reason I enjoyed Hot Tub Time Machine was because it was fairly devoid of heavy drama and instead kept focused on its over-the-top nature. Take Me Home Tonight seems to have some elements of that, but lets hope that it doesn't all get washed out. Also: I miss video stores.

<p><br></p>

Like many of you, I couldn't be more excited about Christopher Nolan's third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. I love reporting news about the film because it's great to see the project develop piece by piece. But you should notice that I said "news," not "rumors." Because Nolan is so talented at keeping his lips sealed, very little we hear about the production can be confirmed, but, at the same time, unless it's completely outlandish, you can't skip it just in case it might be true. This is one of those stories.

Movie Web recently caught up with Australian actress Teresa Palmer and asked her about the upcoming Caped Crusader film, as she was once attached to play Talia al Ghul in the never-made Justice League of America movie and the possibility that the character might show up in the upcoming film. Her answer was fairly surprising.

"I've definitely put the feelers out there with my agents and that would be something I would be really glad to have happen. I doubt I would be one of the actresses high up on Nolan's list. I think they are definitely going after woman with a much bigger profile than I."

So does this mean that Talia al Ghul will be one of the main female characters in The Dark Knight Rises? As was reported a couple weeks back, the film is said to have two main female roles, one a villain and one a romantic interest. What's kind of hard to tell in the quotes, however, is if Palmer is talking specifically about the one character or one of the female roles in general. She goes on to say,

"It is the longest shot in history for sure but I've put my name out there with my agents and things. So we'll see who ends up doing that role. My managers made the phone calls but I'm pretty sure that they will end up going with a big name girl"

but it's hard to nail down exactly what "that role" means. Also, how would she know that the role is in the film when none of us do? It's a lot more likely that Palmer is merely interested in one of the female leads in the film, not specifically one that she almost played in a movie that didn't happen. It would be interesting to see Talia al Ghul in the film considering Nolan's series began with Talia's father, Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson), as the villain in Batman Begins, but who knows? It's all just speculation.

Actress Teresa Palmer has signed on to act alongside Joel Edgerton in Australian film Say Nothing. The film will be directed by multihyphenate actor/writer/director Kieran Darcy-Smith, according to Moviehole. Native Australian Palmer is in that stage where relative unknown starts finding themselves on the tip of people's tongues. Her most recognizable role is probably the love interest in Disney's underperforming summer movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Initial plot details describe Edgerton and Palmer as husband and wife Dave and Alice who, along with Alice's sister and her boyfriend, travel to South East Asia on vacation. Amidst all their merrymaking something terrible happens and only three of the four vacationers return. When Dave and Alice are blitzed with questions surrounding what happened on the fateful night when one of them disappeared, dark secrets begin to unravel.

Sounds like a younger, sexier Deliverance. I'm actually wondering if this is going to be staged as a really horrifying version of The Hangover, where a single night from the past is unfurled over the course of the movie? Also of note-- Palmer nabbed one of her first roles as an anonymous partier in Wolf Creek, another thriller about a few twenty-somethings letting loose on a road trip, only to find themselves blindsided by unforeseen events. Let's hope that Cambodian full moon holds a candle to the stark cruelty of the Australian outback.

Now that the casting of Sony’s new Spider-Man is out of the way (in case you haven’t heard it’s Andrew Garfield), the rumor mill can turn its attention to playing guess the girlfriend. Because when it comes to superhero movies, that seems to be all women are good for in Hollywood. Playing girlfriends. Here’s hoping Scarlett Johansson can turn her Black Widow character from Iron Man 2 into something worthwhile. Until then, let’s see if we can figure out who’s going to get to kiss Spidey while he hangs upside down in the rain.

THR claims to have a line on who Sony’s letting director Marc Webb consider for the movie’s female lead. That lead, by the way, is definitely not Mary Jane Watson. So at least that’s one aspect of this reboot that won’t be repetitive and boring. Unless of course it’s Gwen Stacey, which is possible. But it’s definitely not Mary Jane, tiger.

So who’s up for the part? Not Mary Elizabeth Winstead. They say she’s out of the running, though I’m not sure who thought she was in. Scott Pilgrim’s flop couldn’t have helped. Here’s who is in contention:

Imogen Poots: This 21-year-old Brit was in V for Vendetta and 28 Weeks Later in smaller roles. She’s Julia Roberts’ niece and she’s had starring roles in movies like Valentine’s Day, The Winning Season (where she’s great), and Hotel for Dogs. She’s also the only American on this list.

My pick is Emma, and not because she’s recognizable. Truthfully, most of the other actresses have mostly done movies where they were hired because they’re pretty. Emma Roberts has actually done real, leading actress work and been good at it. She’s great in The Winning Season and in addition to the kid stuff she’s done she’s done acting-heavy indie movies like Lymelife. She can act. She’ll be great. She’s also American and it’s bad enough that Andrew Garfield is half a Brit, it’d be a little weird if the entire cast of one of the most well known, all-American superheroes is British. Or at least it would be weird if anyone cared about this horrible idea for a movie. Which they don’t. Sorry, I had to throw that in. Carry on.

Riley Keough looks pretty much like any other up-and-coming starlet-- blonde, blue-eyed, thousand-yard stare-- but she's got a serious pedigree on her side: she's the daughter of Lisa-Marie Presley, and therefore the granddaughter of Elvis. That seems be the only thing interesting about her so far, though that might all change now that she's set to appear in Mad Max: Fury Road. Because if you don't become more interesting by showing up in a Mad Max movie, you're really doing something wrong.

According to THR Keough will play one of the "Five Wives" who need protection from Mad Max, who will be played by Inception dreamboat Tom Hardy this time around. Zoe Kravitz, Teresa Palmer and Adelaide Clemens will play three of the other wives, which means there's one more hot young thing yet to come. Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult are two of the other biggish names in the cast, who will all supposedly start filming early next year.

You're free to be skeptical about that start date, since talk about Fury Road has been happening since 2005, and production has been repeatedly delayed. With nearly a full cast in place, though, we should assume things will start rolling relatively soon-- now with the King's legacy on board to bolster things a bit.

<dc:description> <p><strong>The Background</strong>: Eric Eisenberg is the Assistant Managing Editor at CinemaBlend. After graduating Boston University and earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism, he took a part-time job as a staff writer for CinemaBlend, and after six months, he was offered the opportunity to move to Los Angeles and take on a newly-created West Coast Editor position. Over a decade later, he's continuing to advance his interests and expertise.
<p><br></p>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>What He’s Excited About Right Now</strong>: Life is a perpetual countdown clock waiting for the next Stephen King book/movie/TV show, but Eric is stoked for the renaissance of original horror, thrilled by the Phase 5 and 6 slates of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and already sick of waiting for Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Messiah.</p> </dc:description>

Ever since Jay Baruchel leaked her name to Australia's Herald Sun, Teresa Palmer's name has been attached to George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road. And why would we dispute it? Baruchel has been working with Palmer over the past couple months on The Sorcerer's Apprentice and had no incentive to lie about the project. Whether it was on purpose or not, the actor did get his facts wrong and it is now being reported that Palmer will not be appearing in the film.

While at a junket for for the upcoming Disney film, Palmer told Coming Soon that she will not be a part of Miller's film, which stars Tom Hardy in the lead role and has Charlize Theron, Zoë Kravitz and Nicholas Hoult supporting. The rumor began when Baruchel told the Australian paper that Palmer would be playing "the main chick" and would be filming it over the next year.

While it's strange that this story hung around for six months without being denied, it was a peculiar story to begin with. Without meaning to offend, why cast Palmer as the lead female when you've already signed Charlize Theron? Palmer is certainly an up-and-coming actress, but this story has weird written all over it. Something tells me that we aren't hearing the whole truth and we can expect more to leak out in the coming weeks.

Right now, I'll be honest, Teresa Palmer looks pretty much like any other pretty blond Australian import. She's been snagging steady movie roles since 2005, but since they've mostly been in movies like The Grudge 2 and Bedtime Stories, I haven't caught them. But Palmer has seem on the verge of her big moment for a while now, and now she's adding strength to her Next Big Thing status. THR reports that she has signed on to play one of the refugee aliens in I Am Number Four.

An adaptation of an upcoming sci-fi novel by James Frey and Jobie Hughes, Number Four already stars Alex Pettyfer as the titular alien refugee, and Sharlto Copley as Pettyfer's "guardian and mentor" (human? alien? who knows!) Palmer's character is known as Number Six, and while it's not a guarantee that she'll be Pettyfer's love interest, come on. Pretty alien boy? Pretty alien girl? Both of them refugees on the same planet? That's how love connections are made.
