It’s officially been three months since Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was pulled by ABC just days before its premiere. The decision was made by the network after a controversial video from 2023 of Paul throwing barstools at her then-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, while her daughter was in the room was leaked online. Per a new report, Season 22 could be back on.

There’s A New Rumor About The Bachelorette Season 22

According to sources close to The Bachelorette production (via TMZ), Taylor Frankie Paul’s unaired season is currently in “discussion” to come out in mid-July. We’re definitely taking this report with a suspicious side eye, given we can’t confirm the validity, but can you imagine if this does happen?

The sources are saying that the editors who were tasked with pulling together Season 22 never stopped getting the job done, opening up the door for a future air date. And now, perhaps ABC is ready to give the season a shot?

The rumor also suggests that the decision is partially coming out of audience testing the network is allegedly doing to see how public perception might be with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star now. In April, she wasn’t charged with domestic violence following the video coming out. If these discussions are truly in motion, perhaps the testing is going well, too.

ABC does typically reserve late July for the premiere of Bachelor In Paradise, however, the network decided to skip having the show on the 2026 TV schedule this summer and save it for 2027. With that in mind, there might actually be room for The Bachelorette Season 22 after all.

The Latest On Taylor Frankie Paul

Earlier this month, Taylor Frankie Paul’s custody arrangement was improved when a Utah judge lifted the mandatory supervision that was previously in place for visitations with her son, Ever. Previously, we heard in April that Paul might be trying to “mend” things with her The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars, and that her ex Dakota will definitely not be part of the upcoming season.

There’s a lot up in the air right now about the future of Taylor Frankie Paul’s career and #MomTok, but the reality TV star has been posting a lot more on social media about her life and has been open about navigating her mental health following the video coming out. Taylor Frankie Paul Just Got Some Encouraging News In Her Ongoing Custody Battle

Taylor Frankie Paul’s reality TV career may have stalled out — however temporarily — when her and ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen’s history of domestic violence caused a production shutdown on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was pulled rom ABC’s lineup. Her battles, however, have continued off-camera in regards to custody of the son she shares with Mortensen, and her latest court date resulted in some good news.

Commissioner Russell Minas ruled June 1 during a virtual hearing that Taylor Frankie Paul’s visits with her son Ever no longer require supervision, EW reports. The time she is allowed to spend with her 2-year-old has also been increased to one weekday (not overnight) and every other weekend. Dakota Mortensen maintains custody on holidays.

Back in March — three days before The Bachelorette Season 22 was set to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, to be precise — footage from Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2023 arrest was leaked, and news of another domestic incident between her and Dakota Mortensen from February of this year came to light, prompting the courts to grant Mortensen full custody of their son Ever as well as a restraining order against Paul.

The MomTok leader was eventually granted 8 hours a week of supervised visitation with her son, which was increased to 12 hours a week on April 30. Having the supervision requirement dropped from the custody agreement is a huge win for Taylor Frankie Paul, who is likely to return to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives now that production has resumed.

If both TFP and Dakota Mortensen plan to return to Hulu’s hit reality show, however, it will be interesting to see how that’s handled, because their mutual protective orders remain in place following their June 1 hearing. Both parties have been ordered to stay at least 100 feet apart for three years.

The former couple’s next hearing is set for July 8.

Does This Affect Taylor Frankie Paul’s Unaired Bachelorette Season?

With Taylor Frankie Paul scoring legal wins, the question remains as to whether this paves the way for ABC to air her already-filmed season of The Bachelorette. After Taylor Frankie Paul learned that she would not face domestic violence charges in the February incident or a third incident that occurred in 2024, rumors started to spread that ABC may have an opening to air the season after all. In true Taylor Frankie Paul fashion, the drama continues surrounding her season of The Bachelorette, which was pulled from the 2026 TV schedule in March, just days ahead of its planned premiere. Rumors have ramped up in the past couple of weeks that we will, in fact, see The Bachelorette Season 22. However, an alleged insider is telling a different story after the dating show was absent from the network’s summer schedule.

ABC shelved Taylor Frankie Paul’s season after video of a 2023 domestic dispute between her and then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen was leaked, with other accusations of violence between the two coming to light from earlier this year and 2024. However, when it was learned that Paul would not face further charges, it started to seem possible that we might see the scuttled season. According to The Sun, this gossip is not true, with a production insider alleging:

ABC has no plans to air it. Certainly not this Summer but there’s no plans to air it for now – ever. Sure, that can always change given how things play out but there is no indication the network will take that chance with her ever again. Any reports about them airing the season in the near future are absolutely false. That has never been part of the plan.

Reality Steve was one franchise expert who heard The Bachelorette would be part of ABC’s summer schedule, and even after it wasn’t announced at Hulu’s upfronts last week, he stuck by his reporting, saying on his May 15 podcast:

The only thing that I’ve heard since my initial report that it was going to air this summer on ABC was it is still going to air in 2026. This thing will not get shelved. It will eventually get shown. … So look forward to Taylor Frankie Paul’s season airing sometime before the end of this calendar year.

Rather than airing on ABC as Reality Steve had originally reported, the podcaster cited reports from DeuxMoi that alleged the series would stream on Hulu, followed by an “After the Final Rose” special for ABC.

However, The Sun’s source insist the network isn’t taking any more chances on the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, as the relationship between Taylor Frankie Paul and ABC has reportedly deteriorated. They reported:

[Taylor] is still technically under contract with ABC, as the initial dates of her contract were set to be in place until after her season aired. But the network has little to no control of her right now as she is not actively involved with anything ABC is doing. ABC does not condone her behavior and in fact, some powerhouses on the Disney side have told her to stop posting online. She isn’t listening. She’s gone rogue.

Taylor Frankie Paul earns her money from social media, so any requests that she stop posting are unlikely to happen, in my opinion, unless it becomes a legal issue. But I can see why ABC would be worried with how messy things remain.

ABC’s decision to pause the release of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette has been one of the biggest stories in reality TV this year. It’s been undeniably horrifying to watch — her toxic bond with Dakota Mortensen, her daughter having to relive the events of that 2023 video, the custody battle, restraining orders and questions about if The Bachelor franchise would (or should) survive this. What’s also undeniable, according to Demi Burnett, is that it’s been “absolute cinema.”

Bachelor Nation first met Demi Burnett on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelorette, before she joined Bachelor in Paradise Season 6 and became part of the franchise’s first on-air, same-sex relationship. She joined the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast to discuss the latest drama, and she wasn’t afraid to admit how entertaining the whole thing has been:

I mean absolute cinema. I am, I’ve never been so hooked and locked in on something for so long. I mean it’s very unfortunate for everyone involved, but as a bystander objectively, it’s been very entertaining and of course it’s also been very sad. I have very complex feelings about it.

It’s definitely a complex situation. Anyone who watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4 (which aired earlier on the 2026 TV schedule and can be streamed with a Hulu subscription) saw how toxic Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen’s situation was. We knew about Paul’s history of domestic violence and her 2023 arrest.

Is it tragic? Yes. Is it fascinating? Absolutely. But is it surprising? No, and that’s what bothers Demi Burnett the most — taking The Bachelorette away from Taylor Frankie Paul at this point, after it was already filmed, seemingly only benefits one person. The Bachelor vet said on what she believed to be "so sick" regarding the controversy:

We already knew that something, I mean we saw it on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, like, we already knew this really bad moment happened. The thing that makes me so sick is that I know this is exactly what Dakota wanted. I hate that he’s winning. I hate that her not – like the season not being aired is like a win for him.

Watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, it did feel like Dakota Mortensen wanted to sabotage TFP’s Bachelorette season. They slept together multiple times in the weeks leading up to her doing the show (including the night before she left, which caused her to miss her flight), and he told her to save a rose for him at the end.

However, after she returned and there were more accusations of violence from both parties, a judge issued mutual protective orders in April, forbidding the former couple to be within 100 feet of each other for the next three years.

None of this should be entertaining, of course. But, ethical questions aside, Demi Burnett said if ABC decided to move forward with airing The Bachelorette Season 22, she’d definitely be tuning in:

I’m dying to see it, me and all my friends are dying to see it. And we got the promo, and the promo was stunning. I love someone who’s gonna come in here and be like I don’t care what you think the value of this flower is. I’m taking it back, or whatever… I like to see how she’s breaking the 4th wall almost but not. It’s like she’s going against what you’re supposed to do on this show, and it’s fantastic.

Demi Burnett said not only did Taylor Frankie Paul and her cast put a lot of time and work into the season, but the whole crew deserves to have their work shown.

Bachelor Nation can always count on Burnett to tell it like it is. And, as for whether or not we should be watching all of this controversy play out, many of us have to admit (myself included) this train wreck has been one that’s hard to turn away from.

We finally know how ABC plans to move forward following Taylor Frankie Paul’s Bachelorette season being pulled from the 2026 TV schedule. However, when The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise return in 2027, it apparently won’t be business as usual. Bachelor Nation is allegedly making some changes in hopes of avoiding disasters — not just this most recent one involving the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, but from other seasons, too — and I’m very interested to see if and how this happens.

Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was shelved just days before its scheduled premiere, when video from a 2023 domestic incident was leaked that appeared to show her then-5-year-old daughter being injured when she threw a chair at her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. According to Naughty But Nice gossip columnist Rob Shuter, this was the tipping point that will now see producers rolling out dramatically tougher background checks. Per an insider:

This is not a minor adjustment — it’s a full reset. The franchise has taken too many hits, and production knows they cannot afford another disaster. We’re talking extensive psychological evaluations, deep-dive social media investigations. They’re combing through everything — past relationships, legal records, online behavior, even the people contestants keep close.

Of course, producers can’t blame holes in their current background check system for what happened with Taylor Frankie Paul. Her 2023 arrest from the incident in the viral video was part of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 1 premiere, and Paul has spoken about it at length on various podcasts. Should we assume this “reset” will also include not casting leads with criminal backgrounds?

The application process to get on a Bachelor show is said to already be pretty extensive, but the insider says producers are going to be far more aggressive with social media investigations, also looking into past relationships, legal records and online behavior after seeing so many red flags slip through on recent seasons. I follow Bachelor Nation news pretty extensively, and I can vouch for fans being quick to discover when contestants had restraining orders taken out against them by exes before appearing on a Bachelor show — including multiple contestants on the most recent seasons of The Bachelorette and The Golden Bachelorette, starring Jenn Tran and Joan Vassos, respectively.

There have also been abuse allegations and contestants with troubling social media histories. So why were fans able to find this but not The Bachelorette’s producers? However it happened, it seems ABC is now taking action after reportedly losing tens of millions of dollars by not airing Taylor Frankie Paul’s already-filmed season, the source said:

That was the wake-up call. It cost millions, created massive embarrassment, and forced them to admit the system was broken.

I’m honestly not sure if The Bachelor’s producers didn’t know about some of these contestants’ histories or — like in Taylor Frankie Paul’s case — they knew but decided to cast them anyway.

Either way, we in Bachelor Nation have heard promises from the franchise before — notably when the EPs admitted to “racism” within the franchise and pledged to do better at protecting their leads just three months before Jenn Tran’s disastrous Bachelorette finale aired. The insider acknowledged that fans will be looking for actions and not just words:

They can promise cleaner casting. But drama is still the engine of this franchise. The real question is whether they’re actually ready to stop casting chaos.

The Bachelor franchise obviously revolves around drama, but when it comes to putting potentially dangerous contestants into the mix, that is definitely not what fans of the show are looking for. Hopefully when the dating series returns next year, we’ll start to see evidence of these alleged changes.

I’d Worried The Bachelorette Was Getting Canceled. But Someone Finally Talked To ABC's Head Honcho

It’s been over a month since ABC decided to pull Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette from the 2026 TV schedule after a 2023 video of a violent fight with her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen went viral in March, and the network has maintained radio silence since then. The lack of an update had me worried this might be the end of The Bachelor franchise, but now Disney’s unscripted TV boss has finally responded to the speculation.

The Bachelorette Season 22 was officially “paused” way back on March 19 — just three days before Taylor Frankie Paul’s premiere was set to air. That’s a long time to leave fans in reality TV purgatory, especially with all of the conjecture that this could be “the beginning of the end” of the franchise. Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, firmly rejected that narrative, telling THR:

The Bachelor franchise is not going anywhere. The Bachelor is back midseason, Paradise will be next summer. So I don’t think we need to talk about something that is a year off. Hopefully, next year’s Get Real [annual unscripted programming presentation] is where we’ll be talking more about it.

It sounds like ABC has chosen to hold off on a new season of The Bachelorette altogether and will focus on The Bachelor Season 30, which Rob Mills suggests will air early in 2027, with another season of Bachelor in Paradise also in the cards for next summer.

He went on to say that the different iterations will air “when we have the right people,” including more possible seasons of The Golden Bachelor.

There’s also a chance we’ll still see Taylor Frankie Paul’s season someday, as Rob Mills refused to rule that out, saying:

I think everything really is a day at a time. Everything concerning Taylor, first and foremost, is that we’re making sure anything she needs on a human level is taken care of, and then we can talk about anything from the show perspective.

This news comes as The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is set to resume production — though without Dakota Mortensen or Taylor Frankie Paul (for now, at least). Filming of Season 5 was paused in March as new allegations of domestic violence came to light between the exes from a reported incident in February. A third incident was also under investigation from 2024.

Last week, the MomTok leader learned she would not face charges in the most recent incident due to a lack of evidence, and Utah’s statute of limitations prevented prosecutors from pursuing legal action for some “misdemeanor offenses” in the 2024 incident.

How Dancing With The Stars Is (Allegedly) Being Roped Into All This Taylor Frankie Paul Brouhaha

Things have been pretty tumultuous for Taylor Frankie Paul lately, with ABC pulling her season of The Bachelorette from the 2026 TV schedule after a viral video showed some of the events that led to her 2023 arrest. Paul’s other reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, was also affected when production of Season 5 was halted due to new claims of domestic violence between her and baby daddy Dakota Mortensen. Now, rumors suggest a third series under the Disney umbrella is being roped in.

Even as Taylor Frankie Paul learned she won’t be charged with domestic violence, Dancing with the Stars may still be scrambling, if a rumor submitted to the anonymous gossip site DeuxMoi is to be believed. The MomTok leader was allegedly going to appear on the upcoming Season 35. The message, shared by DeuxMoi’s Instagram reads:

Taylor Frankie Paul was set to be announced on DWTS this month and even had an entire date on the Bachelorette that was going to set up the announcement. Now that the season is no longer airing and all of the controversy, they are now seeking to get former bachelorette and host Tayshia Adams signed onto the show, but don’t expect an official announcement for a few months. Expect a Rob and Maura dual announcement for DWTS as well.

There’s a lot to break down there, starting with the fact that Dancing with the Stars had allegedly planned on casting Taylor Frankie Paul for next season. This is totally believable, given DWTS’ history of featuring The Bachelor franchise leads, as well as two of TFP’s fellow The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars — Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck — appearing on Season 34.

According to the source, Tayshia Adams is being eyed to replace her, which seems like an interesting choice. Adams recently returned to the franchise for the first time in five years — attending The Bachelorette reunion ahead of Taylor Frankie Paul’s doomed season and serving as a judge on HGTV’s Bachelor Mansion Takeover.

She originally appeared on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor in 2020, replaced Clare Crawley as the lead of The Bachelorette Season 16, and then co-hosted Seasons 17 and 18 with Kaitlyn Bristowe. We’ll have to see if she will, indeed, hit the dance floor.

As those details allegedly get worked out, the gossip item suggests Love Island stars and The Traitors favorites Rob Rausch and Maura Higgins will be announced as two of the celebs going on DWTS. That’s definitely possible, since we already know Mark Ballas has been working to get the snake-wrangler to join the show, and I can’t wait to see if he’d end up partnered with Emma Slater after her A+ reaction to his NSFW audiobook.

How Taylor Frankie Paul Responded After Finding Out She Wasn’t Getting Charged With Domestic Violence

New updates continue to arise in the situation involving Taylor Frankie Paul in the aftermath of the reality TV star’s season of The Bachelorette being shelved. ABC announced its decision not to air the season amid the 2026 TV schedule after 2023 footage of Paul engaged in an altercation with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen was released. At the same time, Paul has been embroiled in a domestic assault investigation with Mortensen, and it was just confirmed that she wouldn’t be charged. With that, Paul has since reacted.

It was announced this week that prosecutors in Utah decided not file charges against Paul in relation to the domestic violence allegations leveled against her. Throughout the last few weeks, Paul continued to share updates on social media, with some being related to her scrapped Bachelorette season. Upon learning that she wouldn’t be charged, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star took to her Instagram story to share a photo of flowers and a drawing of a butterfly along with a message. When explaining the decision not to charge Paul, The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office cited an apparent lack of evidence. The DA’s Office also noted that some of the “misdemeanor offenses” related to the claims from Mortensen purportedly occurred over two years ago. That alleged wrongdoing is apparently hampered by the statute of limitations as well. As NBC News also reported, while more recent incidents weren’t subject to the statute, they weren’t severe enough to be considered crimes. The DA’s Office also said:

The remaining incidents lack sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges where the state must be able to prove such allegations beyond a reasonable date. Such incidents lack specificity as to when and what actually occurred or corroboration.

Back in 2023, Taylor Frankie Paul was arrested in connection to the alleged domestic violence incident that was apparently captured in the recently leaked video. The footage appears to show Paul throwing metal chairs at Dakota Mortensen in the presence of her daughter, Indy, who was 5 years old at the time. Paul was charged with assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child. Paul reached an abeyance deal in relation to one of the charges and served 36 months of probation.

The video footage from 2023 surfaced as Paul was in the midst of promoting The Bachelorette Season 22. Ahead of that, Paul lightly addressed the investigation (in which she also made claims against Mortensen). It’s since been reported that Chairman of Disney Entertainment Television Debra OConnell made the call to cancel the season. Around the same time, it was also alleged that ABC lost tens of millions of dollars due to its decision to pull the show from its schedule.

Since then, there’s been considerable speculation regarding what lies ahead for The Bachelorette and Bachelor Nation as a whole. Trista Sutter, who led Bachelorette’s first season, expressed her hope that the Paul controversy wouldn’t mark the end of the whole franchise. Season 13 star Rachel Lindsay wasn’t as optimistic, as she argued that the reality TV property in its entirety was “over” due to what transpired.

In terms of the legal side of this situation, Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen – who share son Ever True (2) – filed temporary protective orders against each other. As of this writing, Mortensen has not responded to Paul not being charged.

Ashley Iaconetti has talked at length about the topic on her Almost Famous podcast and told Variety the situation with Paul probably shouldn’t have even gotten as far as it did. She said:

I recorded an hour-long podcast on this today, and it’s such a nuanced thing. Overall, it’s a good thing that they didn’t go forth with the season. That was a decision that should have been made more carefully earlier on.

The Bachelorette definitely took a risk when recruiting the star of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (streaming with a Hulu subscription) to be its lead. While investigations into two more domestic violence incidents have since come to light between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen — one from 2024 and one from February of this year — Paul’s 2023 arrest was well-known, with footage even being shown in the SLOMW premiere.

The video of Taylor Frankie Paul throwing metal chairs at her ex-boyfriend — one of which reportedly hit her then-5-year-old daughter — may be new, but as Ashley Iaconetti pointed out, Paul hadn’t shied away from talking about the incident in the past. The RHORI star said:

We knew very much in detail, based on a lot of the interviews that she’s given, exactly what happened in the video and what led to the arrest. You guys did have her on a TV show for four seasons… It’s an absolutely terrible, terrible video, and the child being there is just awful.

Even without the viral video, the events of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4, which showed Taylor Frankie Paul in the weeks leading up to filming The Bachelorette, did not depict a woman who was ready to find love and get engaged. Ashley Iaconetti continued:

She probably should not have been decided to be The Bachelorette. That wasn’t an appropriate role for her to fill, and probably was not something that she was mentally, emotionally ready to take on for many reasons — the fact that she was so intertwined with Dakota going into it being one of them. So many things to say.

In the SLOMW Season 4 finale, it was learned TFP and Dakota Mortensen slept together the night before she left for Los Angeles to film. Taylor Frankie Paul even addressed her “toxic” relationship in interviews leading up to the season, saying she saw The Bachelorette as her opportunity to escape an unhealthy cycle.

As the new Housewife suggested, that’s not a great place to start if you’re the Bachelorette, and one of several reasons she thinks Taylor Frankie Paul wasn’t the right choice even before that viral video.

Paul’s “toxic relationship” with her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen is at the center of the disturbing viral video from Paul’s 2023 arrest and reports of two other domestic violence incidents since then. Knowing what we do now, it’s devastating to look back at what the MomTok leader said about her ex and why she agreed to lead The Bachelorette.

It’s unknown if we’ll ever see the already filmed episodes of The Bachelorette Season 22 or if this could spell “the beginning of the end” of ABC’s longtime dating franchise. Now an interview from 2025 has resurfaced in which ET asked Paul why she went the reality dating show route to find love. She responded:

First of all, it wasn’t working the way I was doing it. We’ve seen it go over and over, same thing, same thing, and I’m, like, oh my gosh. A toxic relationship is, statistically, it’s like a drug. It’s like you can’t withdraw, and also when they’re your baby daddy, you know, I can’t just be like, ‘Peace, no contact,’ like that doesn’t work. So I think I need to be taken away from this, and this was an opportunity of, like, ‘I have to go.’

Taylor Frankie Paul talked a lot on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4 (which you can stream with a Hulu subscription) about the cycle she was in with Dakota Mortensen. In between the fighting, crying and trying to make each other jealous, they slept together at least twice in the weeks leading up to her filming The Bachelorette.

I’m no mental health expert, but I get the feeling she was trying to escape the situation, hoping that physical distance from her ex might help to break the cycle. She continued:

It also came to a point where I was so unhappy, and I’m like, ‘I want to get outside of Utah. Get me out of here.’ Let’s progress. This is out of my comfort zone, and I was like, ‘You know what? You want to progress in life? Just do it. Do it.’ And here we are.

It sounds to me like she was running from unresolved issues between her and Dakota Mortensen, and — after watching all of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives — it feels safe to say that she probably wasn’t in the best headspace to go on a show where you get engaged to someone in a matter of weeks.

It’s sad to hear her say her bond with her ex-boyfriend was something she didn’t feel she could “withdraw” from, especially given the son they share (she also has two children with her ex-husband Tate Paul). Taylor Frankie Paul has said the worst part of that 2023 video leaking has been its effect on her children.

Dakota Mortensen currently has custody of 2-year-old Ever after filing a temporary protective order against Taylor Frankie Paul in March following a reported February incident in which, according to TMZ, Paul allegedly choked and scratched Mortensen during two separate fights in the presence of their son. Paul has denied that she was the aggressor.

The two are scheduled to appear remotely for a hearing April 7 to discuss their custody arrangement and then again for another hearing April 30.

It’s only natural that people who go on reality TV open themselves up to the scrutiny and judgment of others, however that doesn’t justify the hateful comments being made about their appearances. Former Bachelorette Rachel Recchia is speaking out about the mean feedback she’s been getting after losing weight and getting some cosmetic procedures done, and she got emotional on a recent video as she pleaded with fans “to be kind.”

Rachel Recchia first entered the reality dating show world in 2022 as a contestant on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor. Following the “Rose Ceremony From Hell,” Recchia and Gabby Windey became co-leads of The Bachelorette, then Recchia went on to join Perfect Match Season 3 (streaming with a Netflix subscription). By that time, a lot had happened with her health, and she’s been dealing with comments about how different she looks ever since. Lately, it’s “gotten really, really bad.” She said on TikTok:

Whenever I post, the majority of the comments are, ‘I don’t look like myself,’ and ‘I don’t look good,’ and ‘I look sick,’ and, ‘I was so much more beautiful back then.’ I understand that I look different from the first time everyone [saw] me on the show. I’ve been very open and transparent with the filler and Botox that I have. I would do anything to be 25 and look that way again.

I’m not sure why people would think comments like “You look sick,” or “You used to be more beautiful” are helpful in any way. We can do better than that.

Unlike some celebrities, Rachel Recchia doesn’t hide the fact that she’s had a little work done, and as she said, she mostly brushes off the speculation about her appearance. What people don’t realize, she said, is that her dramatic weight loss was caused by some pretty serious health issues. The Bachelor Nation star continued:

Right before I went to film Perfect Match, I got very sick and I ended up having a PICC line in my arm, and because of that, I ended up getting to the smallest weight I’ve ever been. Right after I got that PICC line out of my arm, I went to film the show. I went down, and I lost even more weight.

Rachel Recchia started to cry as she recalled people’s main reaction being to tell her how “big” she was on The Bachelorette compared to what she looked like on Perfect Match’s third season, which she said made it difficult to allow herself to gain any weight back. Several Bachelor Nation alumni have weighed in on the future of ABC’s dating franchise following the decision to pull Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette from the 2026 TV schedule. A viral video showing some of the events leading up to the reality star’s 2023 arrest has led to questions about why she was cast as a lead in the first place, and a former Bachelor producer offered his opinion — including why this could be “the beginning of the end.”

Adam Mansfield was a producer on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette from 2012 to 2020, and he went on the After Reality with Courtney Robertson podcast to give his thoughts on the recent developments. Mansfield painted a realistic but somewhat cynical picture about the franchise’s future, saying:

Nothing lasts forever. Eventually, Survivor will no longer be interesting to people, Seinfeld had to sign off the air at some point and just say, ‘Hey, we’re done. Adam Mansfield suggested ABC’s big swing with Taylor Franki Paul was possibly an attempt to win back viewers and attract new ones, saying:

I’m also a little sad for the audience. I mean, maybe this is what they wanted, and the salacious, sort of bad-idea Bachelorette was gonna bring a different generation to the screen, but I think this is a little overboard.

It’s OK to be messy, to an extent, but when you have ongoing criminal history in the middle of your season, that’s maybe a little too far.

The producer, whose work these days is mostly food show-related, thinks the decision to cast Taylor Frankie Paul as The Bachelorette was likely a response to the changing audience. He said past leads like Sean Lowe or Ben Higgins would be boring to today’s viewers, and Paul represents what people want to see. He said:

The audience is needing it harder, faster, stronger than ever before, and so in order to keep up with that, the decisions were made to choose the messiest, hardest, fastest, strongest-storied person, with full knowledge of what is behind the scenes. Because not only is part of it on TV, but as everyone knows, cast members are extremely vetted for these types of things, for a variety of reasons.

Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay didn’t mince words in saying she thinks The Bachelor franchise is “completely destroyed,” because how would it move past this? Season 1 Bachelorette Trista Sutter also said she “felt like it could be the end.” Only time will tell if they — and Adam Mansfield — are correct.

Forget The Bachelorette, Taylor Frankie Paul’s Legal Troubles Are Bad For Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives, Too

Bachelor Nation has been thrown into chaos over the past couple of weeks, after a video from the night of Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2023 arrest went viral and caused ABC to pull The Bachelorette Season 22 from the 2026 TV schedule. However, as new domestic violence investigations are underway for alleged incidents between Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, The Bachelorette isn’t the only series being affected. The future of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is also up in the air.

Season 4 of Taylor Frankie Paul’s first reality show became available to stream with a Hulu subscription on March 12, and just four days later, production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 was halted amidst reports of new assault allegations "made in both directions" between Paul and Dakota Mortensen. That leaves huge questions for SLOMW’s future, as a source for OK! alleged:

The Mormon Wives cast [is] honestly terrified to film with Taylor right now. … The women have made it clear they don't want to be around her because they see her as a major liability. Now, many of them feel they've moved past the point of dealing with this kind of behavior and simply don't want to be put in that position again.

Since then a third domestic dispute has come to light, with Dakota Mortensen reportedly speaking to the West Jordan, Utah, Police Department and submitting video from an alleged incident in “early-to-mid 2024.”

People reports the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast don’t “want to be associated” with Taylor Frankie Paul right now, with an insider claiming:

The girls are very overwhelmed. They all banded together and they don’t want to come back right now. They were just getting tired of Taylor, honestly.

There’s also the question of if network executives want SLOMW to continue, as a source for The Sun said Taylor Frankie Paul is allegedly “persona non grata” at Disney right now. They said:

The same execs that are making these decisions at ABC also oversee Hulu. … The new management doesn’t want this stain on their legacy and would rather just scrap this altogether.

The source claimed one option would be for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to “get rid of Taylor for good,” but other members of the cast are already starting to break off and do their own things.

After appearing on Dancing with the Stars, Whitney Leavitt landed the lead role in Chicago on Broadway and will star in a holiday rom-com later this year that she’s also executive producing. Jen Affleck, meanwhile, is set to lead her own Mormon Wives spinoff with nine new castmates.

Former Bachelor Star Has An Interesting Idea For What ABC Could Do With Taylor Frankie Paul’s Unaired Bachelorette Season

So many questions continue to surround Bachelor Nation after ABC’s shocking decision to pull Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette from the 2026 TV schedule. Is this the end of the franchise? Will Season 22 ever see the light of day? Former Bachelor contestant Ashley Iaconetti shared her thoughts on the recent events, including an interesting idea for what could be done with those unaired episodes.

ABC announced March 19 — just three days before its scheduled premiere — that The Bachelorette Season 22 would not air “at this time,” after a video leaked from the night of Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2023 domestic violence arrest. Iaconetti — who has appeared on The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise and The Bachelor Winter Games — agrees that ABC made the right call in pulling the episode but told Page Six she thought it might work on another platform, saying:

I think a lot of people would watch it if they put it on Hulu. If they put it on in a binge form, it would be interesting, just to see how fans take to the binge.

I would be curious to see how dropping all of Taylor Frankie Paul’s episodes of The Bachelorette at once would work. That’s how Paul’s other franchise The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is released to those with a Hulu subscription, and it’s never been done with a Bachelor franchise show.

To me, it also feels slightly less exploitative to say, “Hey, these episodes are here if you want them,” rather than to spread Taylor Frankie Paul’s journey across 10 weeks in primetime. Ashley Iaconetti — one of the stars of the upcoming Real Housewives of Rhode Island — continued:

It would work in the advertisers’ sense, a little bit better than having it on ABC. It’s just a hard thing. It’s icky, but it’s also like … they knew what they were getting into. There’s just so many thoughts that I have, and obviously, the video is awful. But I’m honestly open to all ideas. And [the season just] staying away, it’s also a totally fine option.

“Icky” is a great word for it, because while two other instances of alleged domestic abuse are now being investigated — one from 2024 and another from February of this year — ABC knew about the 2023 arrest and still went ahead with casting Taylor Frankie Paul as its lead.

It was the viral video that proved to be the breaking point, as it showed the MomTok leader throwing metal chairs at her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Her now-8-year-old daughter could be heard crying in the background, as Mortensen said the girl had been hit. A police report and the child’s father, Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, both described her as having a “goose egg” on her head.

As interesting as it might be to see how The Bachelorette would do if dropped in bingeable format, the fact that children are involved makes it an especially sensitive topic, and I agree with Ashley Iaconetti that the best option may be to not air it ever.

As for the state of Bachelor Nation, former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay didn’t mince words saying she doesn’t know how the franchise recovers from this. Also, even Trista Sutter said it “felt like it could be the end.”

The First Bachelorette Speaks Out On ‘Very Sad’ Situation Surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul

It’s been just over a week since the decision was made to cancel — or at least pause — Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette following the leak of a disturbing video from her 2023 domestic violence arrest. Lots of people are speaking out about if ABC made the right decision, if someone with a violent past should have been made the lead in the first place and what this could mean for The Bachelor franchise overall. Now the very first Bachelorette Trista Sutter has weighed in.

Trista Sutter, who led the first season of The Bachelorette in 2003 after finishing as the runner-up on The Bachelor Season 1, attended the iHeartRadio Music Awards, where PauseRewind asked about her reaction to news of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season being pulled from the 2026 TV schedule. Sutter said:

I was very sad. It is a show that has given me so much, and it felt like it could be the end. I’m gonna hope that it’s not, but I was very sad. There have been some mistakes made, and I’m just trying to show grace.

Trista Sutter chose not to call out any of those “mistakes” specifically, but I’m a little surprised at how candid she was about feeling like this could be the end of The Bachelor franchise. She’s not the only alumna from the show to say as much, as Season 13 lead Rachel Lindsay didn’t mince words when saying, “the name Bachelorette, Bachelor is tainted at this point.”

Trista Sutter suggested she has been in touch with Taylor Frankie Paul since the news broke, saying that she wrote in The Bachelorette group text that, “I’m here for you,” and as for the fans, she hopes Bachelor Nation will continue to weather this storm, saying:

To The Bachelor fans, thank you for your support over the years, and I hope you stick with us.

The Season 1 Bachelorette — who is one of The Bachelor’s most famous contestants, having also competed on Dancing with the Stars, Fear Factor and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test — got the chance to meet Taylor Frankie Paul recently. Trista Sutter and most of the other Bachelorette leads reunited in support of the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star for a “Before the First Rose” special that aired a week before what would have been Paul’s premiere.

Trista Sutter had nothing but nice things to say about the MomTok leader, as she continued:

She was wonderful. She was so genuine and invested, and really, truly just wanted to hear the advice of everybody there — and that was a lot of advice, because there was a lot of people there. But she was wonderful.

Four days after their reunion special aired, ABC decided to pull the plug on The Bachelorette Season 22, following the release of a video from the 2023 incident involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen that led to Paul's arrest.

The leaked viral video came on the heels of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives halting production on Season 5 amid new domestic violence allegations between Paul and Mortensen from February of this year. Since then, a third incident between the former couple — this one from 2024 — has come to light.

There are a lot of questions surrounding the ABC dating franchise, with the network reportedly losing tens of millions of dollars, and I agree with Trista Sutter that this is a “very sad” situation from all angles.

A Disney Fan Pointed Out A Side Narrative To This Bachelorette Cancellation Brouhaha, And I Think It's A Great Point

If everything had gone according to plan for Disney in the spring 2026 TV schedule, then Bachelor Nation fans would already be a week into Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette on ABC and eagerly waiting for more from the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star. Everything definitely hasn’t gone according to plan, however, with ABC pulling Season 22 from primetime and allegedly losing a lot of money because of it. Now, a Disney fan on social media pointed out an interesting coincidence that puts a new spin on the situation from a corporate perspective.

The situation started last week, when a video went viral of Taylor Frankie Paul in a domestic altercation while a child was in the room. ABC wasted no time in pulling The Bachelorette from the schedule, just days before Season 22 had been set to premiere on the network and stream via a Hulu subscription. While ABC reportedly left the door open to bring the season back rather than cancelling it entirely, even former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay was wondering how the franchise could “move forward” past what happened.

That may be a problem for new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro to deal with, as one user on X (formerly known as Twitter) pointed out:

Bob Iger left being CEO at The Walt Disney Company just in time to make Bob Chapek deal with the fallout from COVID and just in time to make D’Amaro deal with the fallout from Taylor Frankie Paul.

Oddly enough, while I certainly doubt there are any nefarious forces at work, the timeline does work out that Iger’s tenures as Disney boss do neatly avoid some major complications in the entertainment industry. The longtime CEO left the company in 2020 after his contract expired, with Bob Chapek named as his successor effective immediately in late February 2020, a.k.a. just weeks before the industry-wide production shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bob Chapek only lasted from 2020-2022, at which point he was removed by the Disney board and replaced by Bob Iger, who stayed for another four years through to March 2026. Then, as we learned during Disney’s 2026 shareholders meeting, Iger stepped down again to be replaced by Josh D’Amaro on March 18. The date that the whole Bachelorette controversy broke and required ABC and Disney to act ASAP? March 19.

Somehow, Bob Iger has managed to bow out of the job of Disney CEO just before major events that require swift action, and I can’t help but wonder how Bob Chapek and Josh D’Amaro reacted when they saw how quickly they’d be dealing with some crises. Chapek at least got a couple of weeks before it became clear that COVID would require industry-wide shutdowns; D’Amaro got a day before Taylor Frankie Paul’s video went viral, although he had been named as Iger’s successor before stepping into the CEO role on March 18.

Of course, the Disney CEO job does encompass much more than The Bachelorette for Josh D’Amaro, and he was quick to name something that Disney has but other movie studios don’t. There are also the parks to consider, not too long after former CEO Michael Eisner openly acknowledged that Disneyland and Disney World are too expensive. Plus, even if we’re only accounting for ABC among Disney’s TV platforms, there are renewals and cancellations to consider this spring.

For now, Bachelor Nation fans can only wait and see if Taylor Frankie Paul’s season will ever see the light of day in any form, or if the franchise will be off the air until a new season of The Bachelor and/or Bachelor in Paradise can be produced.

Rumors have swirled that the network is looking for a quick replacement in hopes of providing Bachelor Nation with something more than AFV reruns, and according to one source, there’s still the possibility that the already-filmed Season 22 could see the light of day.

ABC executives knew about Taylor Frankie Paul’s 2023 arrest for domestic violence against her then-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, when she was chosen to lead The Bachelorette. The incident was featured on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ very first episode (streaming with a Hulu subscription). However, the video showing Paul throwing metal chairs at Mortensen — one of which reportedly hit her daughter — proved to be too much, and her Bachelorette season was scrapped … for now. An industry insider told Page Six:

ABC left a window in their statement to bring [the show] back. They haven’t canceled it — they simply paused it.

It’s true that the network seemed to choose its words carefully in the statement released March 19 — just three days before The Bachelorette Season 22 was set to premiere. ABC said:

In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.

In the meantime, rumors are circulating that ABC is looking at Love Island cast member Maura Higgins — also part of The Traitors Season 4 cast — to lead a season of The Bachelorette that would allegedly air practically live.

However, a second source for the Daily Mail seemed reluctant to write Taylor Frankie Paul off so quickly, saying:

I really feel that American [sic] loves a comeback story … if Taylor has got the right desire to fix this situation. Earlier in the 2026 TV schedule, Bachelor Nation fans might have been expecting to spend their Sunday nights following the latest single searching for love in primetime. That would have been before a controversial video featuring The Bachelorette Season 22 star Taylor Frankie Paul went viral, prompting ABC to pull the season from the schedule. Now, the network has revealed what will be taking the show’s place on Sunday nights, and I really hope it doesn’t stick.

Season 22 of The Bachelorette was originally scheduled for Sundays from 8 - 10 p.m. ET on ABC, following the premiere on March 22. The decision to pull it from primetime came just days before that planned premiere, with ABC quickly adding a repeat of American Idol to air instead. That didn’t necessarily seem like a permanent solution, however, and now Deadline reports what the network has planned moving forward.

ABC is set to broadcast reruns of America’s Funniest Home Videos at 8 p.m. ET and The Greatest Average American at 9 p.m. ET to fill the vacancy left by The Bachelorette Season 22 on Sundays. AFHV is an ABC staple as the network’s longest-running primetime entertainment show, with Dancing with the Stars’ Alfonso Ribeiro hosting. The Greatest Average American premiered back in February as a game show testing contestants on how everyday Americans live, with comedian Nate Bargatze as the host.

All in all, the two shows make sense as a duo on Sunday nights. New episodes of America’s Funniest Home Videos are already scheduled on Sundays for 7 p.m. ET, and a game show is a logical pairing for it, especially one as new as The Greatest Average American that may still be looking to build a following.

Episodes of Nate Bargatze's series usually air on Wednesdays, which is a packed night of primetime with heavy-hitters like CBS’ Survivor and NBC’s One Chicago as the network TV competition. If ABC was going to have to scramble to find two hours of television to replace The Bachelorette, these two shows track.

That said, I do hope that ABC comes up with something more exciting as the weeks pass and there’s more time to deal with a missing season of Bachelor Nation. Normally, I might speculate that RJ Decker could be moved to Sundays as a brand new show, or that the network could bring Celebrity Jeopardy over from Fridays, as those two were ABC’s only March premieres other than The Bachelorette. Both have already premiered, however, and there’s no clear answer at the time of writing for how ABC could replace Taylor Frankie Paul's season without leaning on repeats.

Technically, ABC and Disney haven’t yet ruled out the possibility that Paul’s season of The Bachelorette could air in some form or other, with losses reportedly reaching $50 million if the episodes never see the light of day. It didn’t take long for rumblings that some of the men who appeared on The Bachelorette to try and woo the leading lady are taking legal action against ABC and Warner Bros. Discovery.

Despite the sticky situation, vets of Bachelor Nation have spoken up in support of ABC’s move to pull the season, with former Bachelor star Grant Ellis saying that the network “needed to take a stance.” Rachel Lindsay, a former Bachelorette, went even harder, wondering how it would even be possible to “move forward past” Taylor Frankie Paul’s being associated with the franchise.

Bachelor Nation is still reeling over ABC’s cancellation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, which was supposed to premiere on the 2026 TV schedule on March 22. Now it’s not just the future of the already-filmed season that’s in question but the fate of the entire Bachelor dating franchise. For the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, however, the worst part of the whole situation has nothing to do with television.

The decision to scrap The Bachelorette Season 22 came on March 19, after video footage leaked of a 2023 fight between Taylor Frankie Paul and her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. In the video, she can be seen throwing metal chairs, and Mortensen is heard saying that Paul's daughter was “hit in the head” with one of them. Social media has been ablaze with opinions in the days that followed, and Paul appeared in the comments of one TikTok video to say:

Worst part is my daughter having to relive and see it all over again years later after extensive work with her and apologies to her about that night 💔 and my baby boy birthday was taken from him.

The video that TFP was responding to showed a TikToker dragging Dakota Mortensen for allegedly releasing the video on the 2nd birthday of his and Taylor Frankie Paul’s son Ever. (It has not been confirmed who leaked the 2023 footage.) The TikToker also cautions people against putting the blame squarely on Paul’s shoulders.

The video of this domestic violence incident may be new to the public, but the incident itself is not. The first episode of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (streaming with a Hulu subscription) showed police officers’ body cam footage of her arrest.

She was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and one misdemeanor count each of child abuse and criminal mischief, according to TMZ. She later entered a plea in abeyance for the aggravated assault charge, meaning it would be downgraded to a misdemeanor in three years if no other incidents occurred. The other charges were dismissed with prejudice.

Bachelor Nation is still reeling over ABC’s cancellation of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette following the release of a 2023 video that appears to show the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star assaulting her then-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. The announcement came just three days before Season 22 of the reality dating show was set to premiere, and it was undoubtedly a costly decision for the network — but just how much are we talking here?

When taking production, promotion and marketing costs into consideration for The Bachelorette Season 22, it’s estimated that ABC could be out tens of millions of dollars. The future of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season is unknown, with ABC brass seemingly keeping their options open by saying it won’t air on the 2026 TV schedule “at this time.”

Regardless of if it ever sees the light of day, Forbes reports that the Alphabet Network is on the hook for licensing fees to Warner Bros. The Wall Street Journal reports ABC was paying approximately $5 million per episode — an estimated $50 million loss if it never airs.

No episode count was confirmed for The Bachelorette Season 22, but seasons have had between 10 and 13 episodes in all but one (Charity Lawson, 9 episodes) since 2008. At an estimated $2 million per-episode cost to produce, that’s at least another $20 million.

There are also the advertisers who paid for time during The Bachelorette’s episodes. Their ads will now have to be placed in different shows, possibly adding extra commercials to reach the audience size ABC expected to have in bringing on the #MomTok star whose soft swinging scandal gained national attention and led to The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

(Four seasons of that series can be streamed with a Hulu subscription. Season 5 production was halted March 16 amid a “domestic assault investigation,” with both Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen making claims against each other from an alleged incident on February 24 and 25.)

ABC will still bring in some ad revenue with whatever airs during the timeslot planned for The Bachelorette — an American Idol rerun replaced the premiere on March 22 — but those ads will likely cost less than The Bachelorette’s.

The previous season of The Bachelorette starring Jenn Tran in 2024 generated $30.7 million in ad revenue, according to Forbes. No season aired in 2025, as it was also canceled due to behind-the-scenes drama. The WSJ estimates (via an ad-spending tracking form) that Taylor Frankie Paul’s season was expected to bring in as much as $35 million.

On top of production costs and ad revenue losses, there’s also the reported millions of dollars spent on promoting the new season. Taylor Frankie Paul appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark and Good Morning America. She walked the red carpet at the Oscars, after which a preseason “Before the First Rose” special aired on ABC that reunited almost all of the former Bachelorettes in support of Paul.

None of these costs even factor in potential lawsuits from the would-be Bachelorette cast members. It also doesn’t take into account the price of creating any kind of possible replacement programming, though former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay didn’t mince words regarding the possibility of The Bachelor franchise even surviving to produce another season.

Craig Erwich – the President of Disney Television Group – along with unscripted content chief Rob Mills, apparently communicated with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television. All the while, Dana Walden, who was recently promoted to The Walt Disney Company’s President and Chief Creative Officer, contacted Mills during the week for an update on the plans being made.

Right now, Disney hasn’t indicated whether it will ever air Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, as execs are allegedly still trying to determine that. There are also ongoing conversations about the status of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the Hulu subscription-based reality show Paul co-stars on that’s produced by Warner Horizon. Filming on the fifth season of that show also paused due to the investigation into alleged domestic violence that Paul is currently involved in alongside Mortensen.

While there’s no clear path forward at the moment outside of the immediate cancellation of the current season, franchise alums have been sharing their takes regarding what could happen next. Now, Rachel Lindsay has spoken out about what happened and why she believes The Bachelorette cannot go on after this.

Lindsay, who led Season 13 of The Bachelorette, spoke in detail on the Bachelor Party podcast about the controversy surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul that ultimately led to the cancellation of what was the upcoming season. She also claimed that she thinks the franchise, as a whole, is “over.” Questioning how ABC can move forward with this franchise after all this, the former lead said:

I was trying to think of a scenario where it could be different. Because this isn’t just, ‘Oh, we put it all on a person. This person did this.’ This is the system that allowed this to happen. So the name ‘Bachelorette,’ ‘Bachelor’ is tainted at this point. How do you move forward past that? You can’t.

Lindsay, however, stated that she cannot imagine a world where the show comes back after this. But she also made it a point to “acknowledge” how a move like that could impact everyone who works on these shows, saying:

I think you also have to acknowledge that so many people are about to lose their jobs, and that’s the irresponsible part, too, with the network. Because I still have friends who work on the show, and in an industry right now where it is slim pickings when it comes to new shows and people even leaving the positions that they have, the jobs do not exist.

Lindsay went on to note that there are people who have been working on The Bachelor shows for well over a decade. If it comes to an end, that will change their lives and force them to pivot and find new jobs. Elaborating on that idea, she said:

We just have to acknowledge whoever decided to look past these issues or a video or a background [check], and know that this could possibly come out and be detrimental to the franchise, whether it was one person, multiple people, whatever it may be, now, it’s a bigger loss. It’s not just that you don’t get your season [to] air. It’s that people are going to be unemployed. And that is really, really sad. ‘Cause I don’t even see a [Bachelor in Paradise] coming back. At best, that’s the only show that could come back.

Well, time will tell if The Bachelor franchise manages to move past this situation. All the while, though, Lindsay seems convinced that the long-running franchise it will not remain intact. One of the most highly anticipated seasons of any Bachelor franchise show has turned into a disaster this week, as new domestic violence allegations came to light related to The Bachelorette Season 22 lead, Taylor Frankie Paul, and a video of a known 2023 incident. Now, ABC has made the shocking decision to pull the entire season from the 2026 TV schedule, and another former lead — Grant Ellis — is weighing in on whether or not that was the right call.

Grant Ellis was the star of The Bachelor Season 29 last year, and he told TMZ this is an “unfortunate situation,” but that he stands against domestic violence and thinks the network made the right call in scrapping Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. Ellis said:

Now, plans have changed, as a controversial video featuring leading lady Taylor Frankie Paul has gone public, prompting the network to pull the season from the schedule just days before launching.

The news comes after a video went public on March 19 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star reportedly getting violent with Dakota Mortenson in the presence of a child, leading to a domestic assault investigation and the pause of filming on the Hulu reality show (per Deadline). Via a statement to the outlet, Disney addressed decision to pull Frankie Paul's season of The Bachelorette:

In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.

Paul is reportedly involved in an investigation into alleged domestic abuse that includes her former boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. This week, Paul has been asked about the situation during media appearances and recently referenced it on Live with Kelly and Mark. That interview cut out while she was in mid-sentence, though and, now, reps are providing context.

What Happened During Taylor Frankie Paul’s Appearance On Live With Kelly And Mark?

Paul (31) visited Live on Wednesday morning and, during the conversation, co-host Kelly Ripa asked, “How are you doing? There's a lot going on with you.” With that, Paul began her response with, “I've had better days, I will say…” before both the video and audio glitched out. By the time the feed was restored, Ripa was discussing an Oscars-related topic. According to reps for Kelly and Mark, who reached out to TMZ, this was all due to a technical transmission issue and that it would be fixed for the West Coast broadcast.

Paul admitted that she’d been made aware of the pause but claimed she didn’t know why it happened or how long it would last.

What’s Going On With Taylor Frankie Paul’s Legal Dispute, And What Else Has She Said About It?

It was reported earlier this week that Paul and Mortensen (33) were at the center of a “domestic assault investigation.” A spokesperson for the Draper City Police Department shared with People that “allegations have been made in both directions” and that “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th.” Paul shares 1-year-old son, Ever, with Mortensen and is also mother to daughter Indy (8) and son Ocean (5).

This situation coincides with the premiere of The Bachelorette Season 22, which is set to debut on March 22 as part of the 2026 TV schedule. Shortly after Paul was confirmed to be the season’s lead, Mortensen joked about it in a video but also said at the time that he was “happy for Tay and I hope she finds happiness no matter what.” As for the timing of the investigation and the new season, Paul shared thoughts during a press event attended by People:

Honestly, just like, my heart hurts to see it, to go through it, especially at this time. Just the timing is hard, and it's a big deal. I feel like every premiere that I've experienced, I've never enjoyed fully, so this is another one... it's extremely hard, and it took everything to get me here today. It's just heavy. It's a heavy time, and it's unfortunate. I'm struggling for sure, but also at the same time I feel like if I don't show up, then I'm just giving these opportunities away and not enjoying what we've worked on and something super exciting that's coming. I just feel like it was the right thing to do... show up even though it's hard.

As for the ever-popular Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the show has highlighted Paul and Mortensen’s relationship throughout several seasons. While it’s unclear as to when filming might start back up, sources allege that the rest of the cast isn’t keen on shooting the show so soon. Only time will tell what happens from a production standpoint and how Paul may or may not reference the investigation, as she did on Live with Kelly and Mark, during future interviews.

All eyes are on Taylor Frankie Paul right now — not only because The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4 is underway (streaming with a Hulu subscription), but because the single mom is about to kick off her journey to find love on The Bachelorette. Before Season 22 hits the 2026 TV schedule, however, former Bachelorettes reunited to show their support, with a few notable exceptions. Gabby Windey explained why she missed the reunion, and she shared her thoughts on Paul as the franchise’s new lead.

It wasn’t that long ago that Gabby Windey was the co-lead of The Bachelorette along with Rachel Recchia in Season 19. Let’s just say the results were disastrous, but it apparently wasn’t any lingering trauma that kept Windey from The Bachelorette: Before the First Rose special that aired March 15. ET caught up with the Dancing with the Stars runner-up, who said:

I was out of town. … I’ve just been so busy, so it’s hard to make everything work. But no, that’s amazing. I’m so happy for them just to, like, get together again.

There’s no question that Gabby Windey has blown up since her Bachelor/Bachelorette days — and hers is a rabbit hole definitely worth going down.

She came out as queer and married comedian Robby Hoffman (who’s also on the rise with a recurring role on Hacks, one of the funniest comedy specials I’ve ever seen and currently appearing on Steve Carell’s HBO series Rooster). Gabby Windey also won The Traitors Season 3 and is now set to recur in the upcoming Netflix series The Body.

Between everything Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman have going on, it’s easy to see why she wasn’t able to fit The Bachelorette reunion in, but Windey still, of course, has an opinion about the upcoming season. She called Taylor Frankie Paul a “genius” choice as the new franchise lead and said:

I think she’ll crush.

As disappointing as it was to not see Gabby Windey amongst all of the familiar faces, it was impressive to see so many ex-Bachelorettes together in one place!

Season 5 lead Jillian Harris also missed the big night, but she sent Taylor Frankie Paul a video message with some words of wisdom:

Hi Taylor, it’s Jillian Harris here. I’m so happy for you. Here’s some advice. I didn’t shave my legs on the very first date and we ended up having a pool party and I ended up on Jason Mesnick’s shoulders with hairy legs, so shave your legs and embrace the moment. Jenn Tran of Season 21 also phoned in her words of support, saying:

Clare Crawley, one of Season 16’s leads, previously addressed her absence on Instagram Stories, saying it was a “hard pass” when producers asked her “to rehash things from six years ago.” Other than that, it was just Season 3’s Jen Chefft and Season 18’s Michelle Young who were MIA.

We’re just weeks away from The Bachelorette Season 22 premiere on the 2026 TV schedule, and for the first time in the show’s history, the lead is not a contestant from a previous season of The Bachelor, but rather a celebrity from a whole different reality show. I’m looking forward to watching Taylor Frankie Paul from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives work her way through two dozen men, and I really love what her casting might mean for the rest of the dating franchise.

Rumors have started to circulate that other Bachelor Nation series might follow The Bachelorette’s lead by recruiting young singles who are already famous from other reality TV shows. For instance, there’s been some buzz that Robert Irwin, the most recent Dancing with the Stars champion, could lead The Bachelor, and a certain Housewife's hat has been thrown in the ring for The Golden Bachelorette. Let’s break down what each celebrity has said and why this would be great for Bachelor Nation.

I’m Expecting Taylor Frankie Paul To Breathe New Life Into The Bachelorette

I have to admit — I didn’t watch The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives before Taylor Frankie Paul was announced as the new Bachelorette. However, hearing the buzz and knowing that I was definitely going to be tuning in, I decided to embark on an intense binge of all three seasons (Season 4 premieres March 12 with a Hulu subscription).

That’s got to be one of the main benefits of stunt casting — Bachelor Nation fans who never watched SLOMW will want to get caught up before The Bachelorette, and people who already love the MomTok leader are going to tune in to see her journey on ABC, regardless of if they’ve been fans of the dating show in the past.

Paul’s established fame — and the fact that we’ve seen her go through so much with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen — is going to bring an energy to The Bachelorette we haven’t seen before. So, will The Bachelor follow suit?

Robert Irwin Responds To Rumors About The Bachelor

Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin’s love life got the attention of viewers when he was competing on Dancing with the Stars Season 34, and dating rumors started circulating after he and Season 32 winner Xochitl Gomez were paired for a dance. Gomez later confirmed she was still single, but that didn't stop fans from wanting to see Irwin find love. Rumors began to circulate that the 22-year-old could lead the next season of The Bachelor.

When asked by ET whether he might return to reality TV, Robert Irwin said, “Never say never,” which led to the obvious follow-up regarding whether he’d be interested in being The Bachelor. Irwin teased:

You know what? Watch this space. Who knows? It’s a strange world. Anything can happen.

I’m encouraged by this response, and the powers that be at ABC should be trying to lock down this wholesome animal lover, like, yesterday. He’s charming, he’s hot, he’s got an accent — literally, what more do you want?

Is Countess Luann In The Running For The Golden Bachelorette?

Luann de Lesseps, an OG from The Real Housewives of New York, has apparently been on people’s minds to lead The Golden Bachelorette for a while. After Joan Vassos was cast for Season 1, in fact, Andy Cohen voiced his displeasure with the decision, saying Countess Luann would have been “amazing.”

The Bravo host might just be in luck, because back in December, Vassos made it sound like ABC might still have the Countess’ number. Given that the franchise was going in a different direction with Paul on The Bachelorette, Vassos told US Weekly:

I think maybe they’ll do something different with Golden. Like some of the older women that were rumored to have gotten it instead of me. And then I hear a rumor about a different one right now that could possibly be, you’ve probably heard it — Luann? The Countess, yeah.

Is The Golden Bachelorette something that Luann de Lesseps would be interested in? US Weekly asked her, and the RHONY alum didn’t hesitate, saying:

Hell, yeah, I’d love to; that would be great. Throw those boys at me, I’m ready!

You heard her!

The Real Housewives franchise falls outside of my reality TV expertise, unfortunately, but I’ve loved getting to know several of them on The Traitors, and just like I binge-watched The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives for Paul, if de Lesseps were going to be The Golden Bachelorette, I’d definitely have to do my homework in that department, as well.

Continuing To Stunt-Cast On The Bachelor Would Only Benefit The Franchise

That goes back to what I said earlier about bringing in new fans from other reality TV shows. We’ve already seen how well this type of cross-promotion works on series like The Traitors. I typically don’t know who half of The Traitors cast members are at the beginning of a season, but that doesn’t affect how much I enjoy the game at all. In fact, I end up seeking out their most iconic reality TV moments, like Dan Gheesling staging his own funeral on Big Brother.

Bachelor Nation alumni have appeared — and largely been successful — on several other reality shows like Dancing with the Stars, The Traitors, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Perfect Match and more. With Paul starring on The Bachelorette, it feels like the franchise might start playing by those rules and winning over new audiences by casting people we already know from other shows.

The partnership between The Bachelorette and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives makes a lot of sense, given their Disney connections, and hopefully TFP’s season will be successful enough to encourage ABC to continue down that path. Robert Irwin and Luann de Lesseps are definitely good options to start, and I’d be thrilled if those rumors ended up being true.

From raunchier series like Love Island to gimmicky hits like Love Is Blind, there’s never a shortage of people willing to go on TV in hopes of finding love. The Bachelor franchise, for instance, has been around for over two decades, and as a longtime fan, let me assure you that 2025 was a pretty eventful year.

Across The Bachelor and all of its spinoffs, the past 12 months have brought us engagements, breakups, weddings, scandals and headlines that have the potential to change the trajectory of ABC’s dating franchise. Here are 6 things that happened within Bachelor Nation in 2025 that I’m still not over.

The Bachelor Franchise Cleans House After Toxic Workplace Accusations

Shortly after Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor wrapped earlier this year, the shocking announcement was made that The Bachelorette would not air in 2025. Allegations of a toxic workplace culture followed soon after, and co-EPs Michael Margolis and Keely Booth resigned. Ultimately, executive producers Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner also parted ways with the franchise.

In addition to on-screen issues like the cruel treatment of Jenn Tran during her season finale, the senior producers were accused by a dozen current and former crew members of running a “hostile” operation, where the employees allegedly experienced mental and verbal abuse, mind games and threats to their jobs if they didn’t “step in line,” according to Deadline.

It wasn’t just the ones at the top, though, who were replaced. No Bachelorette season meant no jobs for the rest of the producers, and when Bachelor in Paradise returned for Season 10 this summer, it featured new showrunner Scott Teti and an entirely new production crew.

Bachelor In Paradise Jumps The Shark By Introducing A Cash Prize

With all fresh faces behind the scenes, it’s no surprise that Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 looked different than what Bachelor Nation fans were used to. The biggest change, however, came midway through the season, when host Jesse Palmer announced that no new arrivals would be entering the game. The couples were locked in and would spend the rest of the season competing for up to $500,000.

This was a huge issue for longtime fans, who continue to value contestants going on the show “for the right reasons,” i.e. for love, rather than money or clout. Some of the cast members took issue as well, especially those who weren’t romantically involved with their partner but were forced to compete as couples anyway. The big swings didn’t pay off, in my opinion, and it didn’t help that the “love or money” ultimatum at the end made absolutely no sense.

Zach Shallcross Becomes The Second Bachelor To Marry The Woman He Proposed To

The Bachelor franchise has faced plenty of issues over the years, but one of the biggest criticisms is how rarely its final couples actually make it to the altar after getting engaged. Bachelor in Paradise has had a pretty good success rate, as well as The Bachelorette, but on The Bachelor, Season 17’s Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici were the only final couple to actually get married — until 2025.

Zach Shallcross from Season 27 married Kaity Biggar, the woman he proposed to two years earlier on The Bachelor finale. Unlike Sean and Catherine before them, Zach and Kaity did not have a televised wedding, opting instead for a small ceremony in May and then a larger celebration of about 100 loved ones in November, both taking place in Austin, Texas.

A couple of The Bachelor’s leads have previously gone on to marry their second-place finisher, but for the dating show to see its second wedding between the lead and the actual winner of the season is a pretty big deal.

Mel Owens Causes Golden Bachelor Controversy Before His Season Even Starts

We’re only a couple of seasons into the Golden spinoffs, but fans have come to expect a more heartwarming show from the older contestants — one that values hope and second chances over drama and clout-chasing. Mel Owens soiled that reputation a bit when he went on Michigan football’s In the Trenches podcast ahead of The Golden Bachelor Season 2 premiere and basically said he had no interest in dating women his age. His exact words:

They asked me, like, ‘What’s your preferences?’ So I just said 45 to 60, just being honest, right? And then the process went and I was selected. And then we had lunch with the executive producer. I said, ‘If they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them.’ [He said] ‘Oh no, you can’t. This is not The Silver Bachelor, this is The Golden Bachelor.’ He goes, ‘But they’re gonna be hot, don’t worry about it.’

The 66-year-old’s comments made a bad first impression, and it only got worse when the show premiered. Mel Owens proved unwilling or unable to express any emotions in front of the camera, and the season was a mess overall with the unnecessary introduction of a “villain” and low ratings.

Gerry Turner Goes Scorched Earth On Ex-Wife Theresa Nist

Mel Owens wasn’t the only Golden Bachelor lead causing drama in 2025. Season 1’s Gerry Turner published a memoir, Golden Years: What I’ve Learned from Love, Loss, and Reality TV, in which he accused his ex-wife Theresa Nist of manipulating him, misleading him about her financial situation and trying to get him to spend millions of dollars more than he was comfortable with on a house. He also took issue with her carb-free diet.

Theresa Nist, who was married to Gerry Turner for three months before they announced their divorce, fired back on the Dear Shandy podcast, accusing Gerry of anger issues. She said he’d called her names, yelled at her and said he didn’t care to hear her opinion. After their uplifting season of The Golden Bachelor, this was a surprisingly brutal turn of events.

Taylor Frankie Paul Is Named The Next Bachelorette

As wild as this year has been for Bachelor Nation, we may see even more fireworks in 2026, with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul crossing franchises to look for love on The Bachelorette Season 22. After binge-watching all three seasons of SLOMW in two weeks, I have so many questions about what this means for the Bachelor franchise. Will this kick the ratings back up? Will it inspire the show to cast more celebrities as leads, rather than previous contestants?

Taylor Frankie Paul, at the very least, is going to bring a different energy to the show than past Bachelorettes (she's already got Jesse Palmer doing TikTok dances), and after the 2025 we’ve had, I’m here for it. ‘This Crazy Motherf—er.’ Is One Fan-Favorite Bachelorette Alum Really Returning For A Third Time To Date Taylor Frankie Paul?

Bachelor Nation is definitely in for some drama when The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul takes her place as The Bachelorette when the reality dating show returns to the 2026 TV schedule in March. But will hers be the only familiar face? Rumors have begun to circulate that Blake Moynes, who has appeared on two previous seasons, may be amongst the Season 22 cast. So what exactly is going on?

Blake Moynes originally appeared on The Bachelorette Season 16 to date Clare Crawley. When she left the show early with Dale Moss, Moynes stuck around to be part of Tayshia Adams’ cast. He then returned in Season 17 and ultimately got engaged to Katie Thurston. The hosts of Bachelor Happy Hour explained why they believe the fan favorite might have now thrown his hat in the ring for Taylor Frankie Paul.

Joe Amabile (aka Grocery Store Joe) and his wife Serena Pitt said they were at LAX when they heard Blake Moynes and the name of one of The Bachelor producers being paged for a final boarding call. Pitt asked her husband if he had just heard the same thing she had, and Amabile responded:

I’m like, ‘I did hear that. Did she just say Blake Moynes?’ Five minutes later they do it again — producer’s name, Blake Moynes. So now I’m like, ‘This crazy motherfucker went back on The Bachelorette. I can’t believe he’s back on The Bachelorette.’

Joe Amabile said he’d just heard that Taylor Frankie Paul was filming Hometowns, so the timing lined up. He tried to FaceTime Moynes, and when that didn’t work, he and Serena Pitt ran to the gate to try to catch Moynes “in the act.”

Despite not finding the wildlife conservationist at the gate, the podcast hosts asked him to explain himself, and Moynes said:

That is wild because I’ve never heard of another Blake Moynes. And the coincidence of everything, plus knowing that yeah, like, I have done a couple of them [Bachelorette seasons], to go back again is, like, if there’s anyone that’s gonna do it, it’s probably that fucker.

Joe Amabile was unconvinced that what he heard at the airport was a coincidence. He pressed Blake Moynes further, saying:

There’s another Blake Moynes with a Bachelor producer on the same flight flying to Taylor Frankie Paul’s season? It’s just so insane to me, it’s just a crazy coincidence. But it’s not you, right?

Grocery Store Joe makes a strong argument, but The Bachelorette alum gave a frank, “No.” However, then he walked it back a bit to admit it would be possible. Moynes continued:

Listen, we like the speculation, right? And the thing is, I snuck onto Katie’s [season], and so, I’ll leave it up to the imagination. You’re just gonna have to tune in and see. But listen, I’m all over the world, so it’s easy for me to jump in there quick, try to make a mark, and then dip. It’s not that crazy. And you’ll just have to watch.

If Blake Moynes does show up on Taylor Frankie Paul’s season, Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt deserve credit for never wavering in their belief. Despite his previous teasing, Moynes seemed to shut everything down in one final comment, telling Bachelor Happy Hour:

I mean, listen, as much as it would be a really interesting throw into that season, I’m not on Taylor Frankie Paul’s season. I am currently in Costa Rica.

The good thing is that the truth will be revealed in the end. The bad news is we’ll have to wait until next year for that to happen. Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette is set to premiere at 8 p.m. ET Sunday, March 22, on ABC and streaming the next day with a Hulu subscription. After My Intense Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives Binge, I Have Questions About The New Bachelorette Season

It’s certainly been a wild year for the women of MomTok since The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was released last September. They’ve become bigger than their social media accounts, dominating Hulu and even spilling into other reality TV universes. Just one example of that is Taylor Frankie Paul being named the next Bachelorette, and after an intense binge of all three seasons of her Hulu series, I’ve got some big questions about what’s to come on the ABC dating show.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has been on my radar but never made it to the top of my watchlist. However, as a longtime fan of The Bachelor franchise, I knew I needed to get on it after the Taylor Frankie Paul announcement, because I wanted to watch and react to SLOMW Season 3 as soon as it hit the 2025 TV schedule. For reasons that defy logic, I procrastinated still, and ended up cramming all 29 episodes into the span of two weeks. So how am I doing?

My solo watch party spanned from November 5 to 19, and I am coming to you now a changed person — probably not for the better. Much of the Season 1 drama was mind-numbingly petty, and I almost quit after three episodes. Taylor Frankie Paul kept me going, though, and not just because of The Bachelorette.

She’s kind of magnetic, and as much as I’m obsessed with the idea of her on the ABC’s longtime dating show, I found myself just waiting to see what she’d do or say next. (For the record, I feel the same way about Whitney Leavitt, and I’m not sorry.)

I’m ultimately glad I stuck with it, because it’s fascinating to see the couples navigate a dynamic where the wives are the breadwinners in a culture that celebrates the patriarchy. Those relationships are exponentially more interesting than an argument over a flask at a graduation party — scandalous!

My hyper-binge came at a price, though. At least once I spontaneously yelled, “I hate insecure men!” to no one, and I know my blood pressure suffered from hearing the women justify manufacturing drama at every public function. God knows it’s not a birthday party until the tears start falling.

OK, time for a deep breath.

In the end, I’m just so excited and curious about how Taylor Frankie Paul is going to absolutely upend Bachelor Nation. So my first question is:

How Will Taylor Frankie Paul Avoid Spoiling Her Season Of The Bachelorette?

Practically since the beginning of time, The Bachelor has premiered in January, so it was pretty wild news that Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was usurping its spot on the 2026 TV schedule. However, come to find out her journey won’t hit our screens until March 22. What’s more is that her season started filming in October.

Is there any world where Taylor Frankie Paul gets engaged in November or December and then keeps it a secret until the finale airs half a year later? She is a public figure. It is her job to be on social media. How will she pull this off? Less public-facing leads have spoiled their own season, and we expect different from an influencer?

Will The Bachelorette Adapt Its Format To Feature Taylor Frankie Paul More Prominently?

I’m really interested to see if and how The Bachelorette’s format is changed to accommodate its celebrity lead. Whereas The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows Taylor Frankie Paul and the rest of MomTok to whatever appearance, party or weekend getaway they’ve arranged for shit to inevitably hit the fan, The Bachelorette has way more structure.

Each episode of The Bachelorette typically features three dates, a cocktail party and a rose ceremony, and while the lead is certainly around for much of this, I’d say the rest of the cast is often more prominently featured.

It can’t be that way for Taylor Frankie Paul. She’s the one we’re tuning in to see, and I’d love for The Bachelorette to adjust its format and let us behind the scenes a little more. I want GRWM videos before group dates and to hear her decision-making process before a rose ceremony. I definitely need her teaching Jesse Palmer more TikTok dances.

How Much Will Taylor Frankie Paul’s Mom Be Involved?

Oh Liann. What a national treasure she is. I fear Taylor Frankie Paul’s mom may just love the spotlight as much as her daughter. She got quite the glow-up between Seasons 1 and 2 (which was so jarring when you’re binging as fast as I was), and the way she injected herself into Taylor’s feuds had me watching through my fingers but praying she didn’t stop.

I don’t even have to ask if she’ll be making an appearance on The Bachelorette Season 22, because we already saw her having a conversation with her daughter ahead of TFP’s interview with Jesse Palmer at The Golden Bachelor Season 2 finale (which, like all three seasons of Mormon Wives, can be streamed with a Hulu subscription). My question is simply how much will she be involved?

Will she help out on a group date? Drop by the men’s living quarters to get the tea? Whatever it is, my guess is we’ll be seeing a lot of Liann, even before the finalists’ “meet the family” dates.

Are Taylor And Dakota Really Broken Up For Good?

This is a big one. Taylor Frankie Paul’s Bachelorette announcement came about four months after filming ended on Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Of course the most recent season saw her seemingly end things with Dakota Mortensen for good after it came to light that something had happened between him and one of Liann’s friends, who Taylor considered family.

I’m sorry, I’m just not sure I buy it. Taylor and Dakota weren’t super stable at any point in these three seasons, but that didn’t keep them from being together. Dakota lying about another woman didn’t keep Taylor from sleeping with him when they were broken up, and before the drama with the family friend was revealed, they looked ready to get back together.

I think she and Dakota both wanted the relationship to work, especially for their son, and becoming The Bachelorette within months of this latest drama feels reactive.

Will The MomTok Group Bring Its Signature Drama To The Bachelorette Group Date?

Speaking of other SLOMW cast members, we know MomTok will be involved in The Bachelorette to some degree. Jesse Palmer referenced a group date at Dancing with the Stars — presumably to see Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck compete — during his recent sitdown with TFP.

Will it dissolve into tears and screaming, as so many of their get-togethers do? Will we find out somebody else kissed Marciano? Will Ben Affleck be there? And who invited Chase anyway?

My two-week binge was really intense, guys. Outside of the petty cycle of event, fight, rinse, repeat for 29 episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, there was a lot of real trauma to sift through. So I’m going to officially take a step back from MomTok until it gets back to the reason why they started it. (Just kidding. It never will.)

When March rolls around, however, I’ll be ready for Taylor Frankie Paul to breathe new, chaotic life into The Bachelorette — and to see how the dating show pivots to accommodate such a well-known personality as its lead. Season 22 premieres Sunday, March 22, on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.

Amidst all of the broadcast network legacy dramas returning in October, arguably the biggest standalone series premiering is the MCU's VIsionQuest, with Paul Bettany reprising his Avengers hero, or something of that nature, for a story that's also bringing James Spader's Ultron back into the mix. But if you're a horror fan, it's hard to argue against the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake or Mike Flanagan's Carrie. (Which technically still doesn't have a locked-down date.)

Why Is The View’s Joy Behar Throwing Shade At The New Bachelorette?

The announcement that the next lead of The Bachelorette was coming not from a previous season of the dating franchise but from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was shocking, prompting all kinds of reactions from Bachelor Nation — and from Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-boyfriend. You just know the co-hosts over at The View had thoughts as well, including Joy Behar, who threw some shade at the reality TV star.

Taylor Frankie Paul, 31, has three children — 8-year-old Indy and 5-year-old Ocean with ex-husband Tate Paul and 17-month-old Ever with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. After watching a clip from the future Bachelorette’s interview on Call Her Daddy, in which she talks about informing her children’s fathers of her new role, Joy Behar cracked a joke about Paul having multiple baby daddies, saying:

So will these bachelors line up to be baby daddy No. 3? Isn’t that the whole point of the show? To find your lover and get married? But, she’s got a little bit of baggage.

Oof, I doubt I’m the only longtime Bachelor Nation fan who cringed a little at the “baggage” comment. Back in Season 8 of The Bachelorette, contestant Kalon McMahon received a quick and unceremonious boot from the show when lead Emily Maynard learned that the luxury brand representative had referred to her young daughter as such.

Alyssa Farah Griffin refused to disparage Taylor Frankie Paul for the same reason Joy Behar did, but she had her own thoughts on Paul’s “colorful past” that left her “conflicted” about the season. For one thing, Griffin said, there’s just a lot of uncertainty with ABC’s decision to recruit from outside of Bachelor Nation. She continued:

I don’t judge women for having kids with different men. She’s had actually a pretty challenging life, and you get a glimpse into her family if you watch Mormon Wives. It’s tough. They navigate a very restrictive religion. She’s stepped out of the faith and now is trying to find herself.

Alyssa Farah Griffin appears to like the casting decision, and not just because she gives grace to Taylor Frankie Paul regarding her past. Griffin said:

What I do love about her and why I think she’ll be excellent: She’s super authentic and she’s extremely chaotic, and those are both great for reality TV.

There are definitely a lot of opinions about what’s to come on The Bachelorette in 2026, but one thing seems universally agreed upon — Taylor Frankie Paul will bring the drama.

The View co-hosts also recently shared their opinions on the upcoming season of The Golden Bachelor, which hits the 2025 TV schedule at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, September 24, on ABC. Mel Owens, a 66-year-old former NFL linebacker, raised some eyebrows by saying on a podcast that he planned on eliminating any women over the age of 60.

One can imagine how well this went over on The View, with Alyssa Farah Griffin saying he sounded like “a dog,” and Sunny Hostin pointing out that just because he wants to date 45-year-old women does not mean that 45-year-olds want to date him.

The Golden Bachelor will air before Taylor Frankie Paul’s appearance on The Bachelorette — expected to premiere in January 2026 — as will the third season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (streaming with a Hulu subscription), in which we’ll apparently see how Paul ends her on-off relationship with Dakota Mortensen for good. Bachelor Nation was shocked this week when it was announced that the franchise was not only skipping its next cycle of The Bachelor in early 2026 but that, for the first time ever, The Bachelorette was coming from outside of the show. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul will lead Season 22 of ABC’s reality dating show. OK, I’m loving the resurfacing of Lindsay Lohan’s fake dating video from 2009, and Dakota Mortensen’s use of the Funny or Die clip to address his ex’s upcoming journey to find love would suggest he’s dealing with it pretty well — even if he is potentially referencing her 2023 domestic violence arrest.

In the video, he mouths the words of the Mean Girls star, who says:

Hi, my name is Lindsay and I’m searching for love. I’m recently single, I think, and I’m looking for someone whom I can spend the rest of my life with, or at least the rest of my probation with. A little bit about me: I’m an actress, a singer, an entrepreneur.

But just in case anyone would get the impression that he’s bitter about The Bachelorette stealing his (sometimes) girl, he made sure to clarify that his video was all in good fun, captioning the post:

Whether or not Taylor Frankie Paul will find happiness remains to be seen, but Bachelor Nation can rest assured that she’s going to bring the drama. Mormon Wives’ very first episode addressed the “soft-swinging” scandal that led to her divorce from Tate Paul (with whom she shares two children) and her February 2023 arrest for domestic violence after a drunken altercation with Dakota Mortensen.

The couple allegedly started dating in August 2022, but in November of that year, Taylor Frankie Paul announced she had an ectopic pregnancy, and they broke up soon after. They reunited just weeks later and ultimately welcomed son Ever in March 2024, but their relationship was plagued by cheating rumors, which played out on the Hulu reality show.

According to Taylor Frankie Paul on Call Her Daddy, where she announced her forthcoming run as The Bachelorette, she and Dakota Mortensen are over for good, and we’ll apparently have to watch The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3 to see that play out.

The third season of the Utah-based reality series is set to premiere Thursday, November 13, on Hulu, ahead of Paul making her debut on The Bachelorette, which will presumably come in January 2026. A big question going into this season of The Bachelorette is how Taylor’s relationship with her ex, Dakota Mortensen, will play into this. They share a child, and they’ve had a turbulent on-again, off-again relationship, as she described on Call Her Daddy. She also shares two kids with her ex, Tate Paul, and both of them were involved in the TikTok scandal that involved talk about “soft swinging.”

Along with all that, she made headlines when she was arrested in 2023 and faced misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, per People. Those charges were all dropped, and the situation was shown in the first season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

As someone who has only watched Secret Lives of Mormon Wives here and there, I agree with this final camp of people. The women bring the drama on that show, and Paul’s romantic life has always been a turbulent part of the series. So, it will be interesting to see how that energy transfers over to The Bachelorette.

Hopefully, she becomes a bachelorette who stays with whoever she ends up with. However, time will tell, and in the meantime, we’ll be able to watch her journey to find love when her season of The Bachelorette premieres next year.

Since Gabby Windey was in the 2025 TV schedule for the third season of The Traitors, she’s only become a more popular reality star, reportedly gaining 200k more followers on Instagram by the time the show ended. But if there’s one thing she’s gone viral for aside from being one of the winners of Season 3, it’s for all her hilarious call outs about waiting so long to get paid. Windey has elaborated on how she actually got on the show in the first place, and it only expands her personal brand we’ve loved going down the rabbit hole on since seeing her on the show.

While recently talking to Variety, Windey explained the story behind being cast on The Traitors, and apparently she needed some convincing. In her words:

Basically, they won an Emmy, and then I did a vibrator ad for money — and I was like, ‘OK, I’m going back on TV.’ I was like, these are the people who want me the most, and it’s not, like, love related. I was in the airport, and [NBCUniversal casting executive Christine Cowan] was like, ‘Gabby, we’re having to turn people away. Everyone wants to get on this show so bad.’ Exclusivity is a way to get me. If I know I’m going to be chosen over others, I’m in. And it was the best thing I’ve done for my career.

In the new interview, Gabby Windey revealed that she said no to being on the Peacock series, but a few things ultimately changed her mind. For one, she was told that the show was so popular that the casting department was turning down a bunch of reality stars who wanted to be in it, and they wanted to choose her over other potential picks. Then, there was the issue of money. Windey felt like her career was slowing down after a few whirlwind years doing Season 26 of The Bachelor before starring on Season 19 of The Bachelorette and being a runner up on Dancing With The Stars.

Before Gabby Windey broke into entertainment with her various appearances on hit shows, she was actually a nurse in an intensive care unit at University of Colorado Hospital, notably winning a humanitarian award for being on the frontline during the pandemic. Yeah [you get paid]. Not as much as people might think. After I was screaming about my money on all of the press tour, the internet thought I was broke, which I think is great. I made it to my first blind item that was like, ‘This former reality star needs another gig fast — apparently has no money.’

Following her appearance on The Traitors, it doesn’t look like her career is slowing down again anytime soon, but as she noted, it’s not like she’s a multi-millionaire. She has a podcast called Long Winded With Gabby Windey and nabbed a ton of brand deals lately with the likes of Taco Bell, AT&T, Olly, Dominos, and Cheetos. She’s in the big leagues now. After that, everyone was so supportive of my brand deals — which is great. But yeah, I mean, it’s not as much as you would expect, I don’t think, for being on TV — but it wasn’t nothing. Kaitlyn Bristowe first allowed fans into her love life in 2015 when she appeared on Chris Soules’ season of The Bachelor, and now 10 years later she’s opening up about what went wrong in her engagement to Jason Tartick. The update comes after the latest season of the ABC reality dating show wrapped on the 2025 TV schedule, and Bristowe’s got some pretty hot tea about how her ex-fiancé handled their finances.

One of the most famous people to come out of The Bachelor franchise, Kaitlyn Bristowe didn’t find love on The Bachelor or as The Bachelorette in Season 11, but she did find Jason Tartick — a member of the Season 14 cast — off camera in 2019. The couple got engaged in 2021 but broke up two years later, and Bristowe said on her Off the Vine podcast (via Page Six) that she felt “very used” by Tartick in their relationship, telling listeners:

Although my house was paid off, I would have to go to him on the first of every month being like, ‘Can you split bills?' That makes me feel cheap. We had both very similar income. I felt like he was riding a wave.

Jason Tartick is a banker who talks all things finance with members of Bachelor Nation and other celebrities on his podcast Trading Secrets, so while it’s no surprise that he would have taken his and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s money very seriously when they were together, I can’t imagine he loves these details being aired out now.

Because Kaitlyn Bristowe did not hold back. She said she felt he was using their public relationship to make strides in his career. She continued:

And I’m not saying he didn’t love me because I think he did, also unsure, but it felt like [he was] riding coattails, riding a wave, [to get to] where he wanted to get to.

Following their breakup in 2023, Jason Tartick dated influencer Kat Stickler, but they broke up last year. Lately rumors have circulated about him and The Bachelor alum Kelley Flanagan from Peter Weber’s season.

Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Bristowe — who was engaged to Shawn Booth for three years after her season of the dating show — may have also dipped her toe back into the Bachelor Nation dating pool. Since January 2024, she’s been attached to Zac Clark, who was engaged to Season 16 Bachelorette Tayshia Adams until 2021. In the most awkward of twists, Bristowe had even interviewed Adams on camera about her breakup with Clark.

I’m sure we’ll see more of that messiness — though not from Kaitlyn Bristowe — when Bachelor in Paradise returns to ABC. Contestants from the Golden spinoffs will join the young singles on the beach, and I can’t wait to see if new showrunner Scott Teti makes any big changes to the format. No specific date has yet been announced, but it’s expected to premiere this summer.

The Bachelor Season 29 has come to an end, with Grant Ellis getting engaged at the end of a three-hour season finale, and that means one thing — it’s time for Bachelor in Paradise. The beachy spinoff is returning this summer, and after a big twist was confirmed, I got to thinking about who all we might see joining the cast. I must not be the only one, because Wells Adams’ opinion about casting leads on BiP is making the rounds, and I never thought about it this way.

Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 is set to hit the 2025 TV schedule sometime this summer after skipping a year in 2024. With a new showrunner this time around, we may see some big changes regarding the spinoff’s location and format. We don’t even know if Wells Adams will return as the bartender, but if he does, I bet he’s hoping to see some former leads of the dating shows, as he told the Lightweights podcast ahead of Season 9:

We [had] the most bachelorettes come to Paradise that we've ever had on any season, that's very interesting. Having leads in Paradise is so funny to me, because they've gone from a world where they are the star to a world where you're not the star at all.

That’s a really interesting take, because it’s so true. It’s certainly rare to have someone go from leading their own show to being thrown in the pool of Paradise players, but it’s happened to two from The Bachelorette. Becca Kufrin was on Season 7, while Rachel Recchia appeared on the disastrous ninth season of Bachelor in Paradise.

I can imagine it must be quite a shock to go from having so many people fighting for your affection to being just one of many trying to couple up with each other. As the bartender who’s sitting back and watching the chaos around him, I can see how Wells Adams might find that amusing.

It will be interesting to see if and how Season 10 changes The Traitors alum's perspective — again, assuming he returns to BiP — because with the addition of the Golden cast members, the beach may have a whole new vibe.

Jesse Palmer confirmed on The Bachelor Season 29 finale that The Golden Bachelor runner-up Leslie Fhima and The Golden Bachelorette fan favorite Gary Levingston were officially joining the cast of the summer spinoff. They will join Zoe McGrady, who Grant Ellis eliminated after Fantasy Suites, and Jenn Tran cast-offs Jonathon Johnson and Hakeem Moulton.

We’ll have to wait to see what other Bachelor Nation alums join those five and if any former leads are among them. Wells Adams has also spoken about the possibility of The Bachelor Season 25 lead Matt James joining Bachelor in Paradise following his shocking breakup with Rachael Kirkconnell. Technically, with Golden contestants now in play, Gerry Turner could be cast, since he and Theresa Nist divorced not long after his season.

I can’t think of too many other leads who might be available to hit the beach, but regardless of how it plays out, I’m excited for Bachelor in Paradise’s return.

If there’s one tried-and-true MVP on the 2025 TV schedule’s reality TV front, it’s gotta be The Traitors’ Gabby Windey, known on the internet lovingly now as “Gaggy”. After starting as one of the most quiet contestants on the series available to stream with a Peacock subscription, she’s had standout moment after standout moment, and she could be on her way to becoming one of the winners of Season 3. Now, ahead of the finale this week, Gabby shared a big personal win: She recently got married!

When Gabby Windey came out in the summer of 2023, she shared that she had found love with comedian Robby Hoffman (after even being inspired to pursue women for the first time by a reality show). Now, we’ve learned the pair officially tied the knot back in January in Las Vegas. Check out the pics:

How cute are they? Now, as you might have noticed, it’s not the typical lavish wedding we see from celebs. As Gabby Windey told Cosmopolitan, the ceremony actually came together in a matter of days when she and Robby were evacuating Los Angeles during the wildfires. After packing as many belongings as they could in an hour and a half, they ended up driving out to Las Vegas (after Palm Springs didn’t pan out), where one hotel gave them a penthouse suite.

When they found themselves in the gorgeous hotel room, apparently Gabby Windey turned to her partner and asked: “Should we get married?” As Windey told the magazine:

It’s giving Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey when they divorced and came back together after 9/11. They were like, 'No, actually, we do want to be together because the world is ending.' It was just us two. We did everything in two days.

Adorably enough, Robby asked a friend to make a crossword puzzle (since the couple usually do crossword puzzles together in the morning) that ended up reading “Will You Marry Me, Gabby?” After the couple became officially engaged, they had their engagement dinner at the Wynn buffet over crab legs. The next day, Robby found the rings and the chapel while Gabby went dress shopping. As Robby shared:

Our wedding was $799. That included the limousine. That included the photos. That included the minister.

Considering most weddings are around $30,000, the couple saved a whole lot of money by going to Vegas and having their 20-minute ceremony. Robby called it “perfect,” and Gabby said it was “literally the best night” of her life. They walked down the aisle to “HOT TO GO!” by Chappell Roan and were married by a red sneaker-wearing minister named Reverend Nature.

Gabby Windey first became a reality TV star when she was one of the women on Season 26’s The Bachelor. After becoming co-runner-up with Rachel Recchia, the pair famously had the first joint season of The Bachelorette, which led to a short-lived engagement. Windey followed up her time in Bachelor Nation by going on Dancing With the Stars’ Season 31 and earning second place.

Next up, we’ll have to see if Gabby Windey got to split some of The Traitors' money with her fellow faithfuls. Will Danielle be voted out? Will the faithfuls figure out Brittany? We’ll find out this Thursday, March 6, when the finale and reunion premieres.

The Bachelorette Had Allegedly Already Been Chosen Before Being Canceled Amid Toxic Workplace Accusations, And She Wasn’t From Grant’s Season

Shockwaves reverberated throughout Bachelor Nation earlier this month when the season of The Bachelorette slated to air on the 2025 TV schedule was canceled, followed by a report about the “toxic” workplace culture of the franchise. To add to the confusion of it all, it seems the decision to pause the spinoff was a sudden one, as reports suggest a Season 22 lead had already been chosen — and it allegedly wasn’t one of the current contestants from Grant Ellis’ season.

Who Was Allegedly Picked As The Bachelorette Season 22?

As a longtime Bachelor watcher, I was surprised and disappointed to learn that I wouldn’t be able to see one of Grant Ellis’ eliminated contestants get a second chance at love on her own season of The Bachelorette. It turns out I wouldn’t have gotten that even if the show hadn’t been put on hiatus, because the woman allegedly chosen to lead Season 22 was a familiar face from Joey Graziadei’s season.

The Bachelor alum Ashley Iaconetti reports on her Almost Famous podcast (via Swooon) that fourth-place finisher Maria Georgas was producers’ first pick for the upcoming season, saying:

We’re pretty certain that Maria from Joey’s season was a frontrunner, as we thought that she was a frontrunner to be the Bachelorette during Jenn’s season. The source says that they don’t know exactly what happened, but they couldn’t make Maria happen, and that’s why the show didn’t get picked up because they just didn’t think that they had… I’m assuming that they didn’t think they had a strong enough lead that was going to get enough ratings.

Maria Georgas — who made headlines recently for allegedly breaking up with Pete Davidson (a rumor Georgas firmly refuted) — has said she was the first choice to lead Season 21, but that she decided to back out. Jenn Tran was ultimately chosen as The Bachelor franchise’s first Asian lead, but she denies that she was the backup option.

Almost Famous co-host and former Bachelor Ben Higgins weighed in on what he’d heard about the decision to cancel the season rather than pick a different lead. He alleges:

Somebody that had a lot of influence over the show was fairly stuck on this Maria storyline and said, ‘If we’re not going to do Maria, it’s not worth doing.'

Ashley Iaconetti said her sources suggested two women from Grant Ellis’ season were on the short list for Season 22, as well as Rachel Recchia, who was a co-lead with Gabby Windey on The Bachelorette Season 19. Recchia, meanwhile, didn’t name names but told Iaconetti and Higgins (per US Weekly) that she also heard a decision had been made:

I heard the lead was decided and it made sense to me who they picked. Again, rumors.

Could The Bachelor veterans be correct about Maria Georgas being the reason for hitting pause on The Bachelorette, or was it the result of the ensuing accusations of executive producers fostering a toxic work environment?

Production Crew Accuse Bachelor EPs Of Fostering Hostile Environment

Following news of The Bachelorette’s hiatus, the majority of the staff who would have worked on the production were reportedly laid off, but ahead of that, Deadline reports that one producer described the franchise as a “dumpster fire” under its current EPs — Claire Freeland (who, according to the report, was allegedly responsible for the "cruel" treatment of Jenn Tran during her finale) and Bennett Graebner. Another producer reportedly said:

The last two years, but particularly the last six months, have just been incredibly hostile, toxic and horrible.

Additional reports said the executive producers gave passive-aggressive criticism to work of longtime employees, stayed in closed offices with little communication with the staff and ignored senior members of the team. Workers were allegedly led to believe that they would be fired if they didn’t “step in line.” Warner Bros Television Group is reportedly looking into the complaints.

Things definitely seem to be getting messy behind the scenes of ABC’s reality dating franchise, so while we wait to see what comes of all the drama, we can always escape into Grant Ellis’ love story. New episodes air at 8 p.m. ET Mondays on ABC and streaming the next day with a Hulu subscription.

The Bachelor Season 29 Episode Recaps

Week 1:

Grant Ellis's journey to find the love of his life...who'd hopefully say yes to being his wife...began last night, with twenty-five women throwing themselves at the dapper bachelor. He welcomed each one with nervous excitement outside the Bachelor Mansion as they took the opportunity to make a lasting impression. And at least three were of the persuasion that the way to a man's heart was through his stomach.

Jersey girl Alli Jo Hinkes served him up a "pizza" her heart (adorable). Kyleigh, from Glen Rose, Texas, showered him with salsa and chips, and wedding planner Savannah cheekily (and somewhat presumptuously) presented a multi-tiered wedding cake. But he was clearly not into feeders, because, as it later turned out, both Savannah and Kyleigh were among those sent home. The most memorable impression was made by pediatric speech therapist Alexe Godin, who trotted up the driveway on her pet llama Linda.

As the girls mingled and Grant shared a few intimate conversations and kisses, a mystery woman arrived, made a beeline for Grant, and put the fear of God into the now unsettled contestants. But it was only his sister, Taylor, who was just in the neighborhood to share some embarrassing childhood photos.

The first rose ceremony saw seven girls prematurely sent home. Alexe, meanwhile, had made the best first impression – not only was she beautiful, he said, but funny and intelligent – so it was only fair she got his first impression rose. And lucky for her she did too, because, as host Jesse Palmer explained, that meant she would automatically get to join Grant on his first one-on-one date next week. Squeal! Tune in then to see if romance blooms between Grant and llama lady Alexe.

Week 2:

Eighteen women sharpened their elbows as the first official group date of the season began, with pro basketball player Grant scouting for girls on the court as they played a “friendly” game of five-on-five. The purple team smashed it. But it was Chloie who impressed Grant most, which saw their dribbling continue off court when the two of them shared a passionate kiss later on. Despite their smooch, though, it was PhD student Natalie who won the first group date rose.

Meanwhile, Alexe had been waiting to cash in her first date rose. And her special day with Grant was very Rom Com 101. The pediatric speech therapist and Grant went wild in LA’s Beverly Center, maxing out the production team’s credit card and eating ice cream before having some deep conversation during a romantic picnic. Unsurprisingly, Grant handed her that all-important date rose. Now, somebody pass that girl a vase, because she’s going to have an entire bouquet soon!

While many of the girls from the b-ball challenge were turning on Zoe for repeatedly interrupting their alone time with Grant, seven others were invited to the Bellwether Theater for the second group date of the episode. It turned out to be a case of “Litia me Love You”, too, as Grant and R&B singer Mario tasked the women to perform a few of their own verses. Yes, Carolina won, but it was venture capitalist Litia who was bestowed with the group date rose.

Finally, we were back at the Bachelor Mansion for the nerve-wracking rose ceremony. Natalie, Alexe, and Litia were already golden. But four more women left empty-handed, their dreams of someone putting a ring on it temporarily stalled. Those individuals were Allyshia from Florida, luxury travel host Ella, ICU nurse Rebekah, and Vicky Nyamuswa.

Week 3:

There were tears, tantrums, heartfelt admissions and one hospital admission in yesterday’s episode, with Grant’s pool of potential wives evaporating to just ten only three episodes in.

Day trader Grant selected twelve ladies to join him on possibly the least-romantic group outing ever: a Finance 101 date presided over by comedian Hannah Berner and Shark Tank star Daniel Lubetsky. Challenged to see who could earn the most “Grant Bucks” with the right – or just downright hilarious – answers, this Bachelor-only currency could then be exchanged for keepsakes and special perks later. Bailey made a mint! But it was Birmingham resident Parisa and her game of “Chubby Bunny” that won her the group date rose.

Following the breaking news that Beverly Ortega had left the show after falling horribly ill after last week’s basketball game, Grant pivoted his planned one-on-one date into a three-on-one with Sarafeiena, Fina, and Litia. He put the women to work grooming dogs at reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump’s animal shelter (Grant, dude: you’ve got to step up these dates!) However, only Litia Garr from Idaho, who’s been one of Grant’s closest connections so far, joined him for a heart-to-heart over dinner. And he did the sweetest thing. After hearing that Litia’s mum had raised her alone after her father died when she was only three months old, he FaceTimed her to congratulate her for raising such a wonderful daughter.

He may have taken the plunge with Carolina earlier in the day, when they jumped off the Strat Hotel on their date in Las Vegas. But clearly his feelings for Litia were deepening the most. “After tonight, Litia could be my wife,” he confided to the camera crew. Romantic, though we're certain one of the producers subsequently reminded him, "not so fast, we’ve still got at least eight more episodes to go!"

Then, instead of the usual cocktail mixer, Grant invited the girls to a prom-themed event. Wearing tiaras and strutting their stuff on the dance floor with four former Golden Bachelorette contestants (including Gary Levingston and Jonathan Rone), it was wonderfully She’s All That until someone stirred up trouble, which then turned the night a little more Stephen King’s Carrie.

Grant tracked down Rose after Carolina had tearfully told him that she’d been told that, during last week’s episode, Grant had said he was thinking of Rose the whole time he was with Carolina, something he steadfastly denied. Let’s just say Rose was left a little red-faced. And it was a bit of a surprise she still received one of her red-petalled namesakes later that evening. The same, however, couldn't be said for Alli Jo, Bailey, and Chloie Costello, who all left the Bachelor Mansion empty handed.

Now there are just ten women left. They’ll all be heading down to Madrid next week, so grab your passport for some fun in the sun as Grant’s journey to find the one continues!

Former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky Manno Shared The Moment Her Kids Learned She Was On Reality TV, And I Love How They Still Troll Their Dad Over It

When one decides to go on reality TV to find love, it probably doesn’t register too strongly that someday they might have children to explain that too. Ali Fedotowsky Manno, one of the most famous Bachelor contestants who led her own season of the dating series, found herself in that situation unexpectedly, and she’s sharing that moment with all of Bachelor Nation. As hilariously awkward as the whole situation is, I am still laughing at how it’s led to an inside joke for their family.

Many people were bidding farewell to TikTok this weekend in anticipation of the social media ban, resulting in plenty of emotional trips down memory lane. Ali Fedotowsky Manno — who appears on the season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test currently airing on the 2025 TV schedule — joined in the trend by reliving the moment her son happened upon a photo of her and ex-fiancé Roberto Martinez. She shared on Instagram:

I love how excited her son Riley was at finding the photo of his mom online (Ali Fedotowsky Manno shares Riley and a daughter Molly with husband Kevin Manno). Unfortunate as it may be for the ex-Bachelorette, it does make sense that a photo of her and Roberto Martinez would be among the top search results.

Despite Kevin Manno jokingly unplugging Alexa — much to Riley’s dismay — Ali Manno revealed that her reality TV engagement has become something of a joke between her kids and her husband. She says in the caption of the post:

My kiddos still love to mess with their dad and ask Alexa to show them pictures of ‘Ali and Roberto’ 😂 Thank goodness [Kevin Manno] has a great sense of humor 😂

That’s a pretty brutal move from the kiddos, but I guess Ali Manno’s husband is OK with it, since he was the one who got the girl in the end. The couple has been married since 2017.

Ali Fedotowsky Manno returned to the reality TV space recently to compete on Fox’s survival series Special Forces (available to stream with a Hulu subscription). However, she was one of the many celebrities booted from the competition when she suffered a finger injury during a challenge.

This was an especially disappointing turn of events for fans of The Bachelor, as her exit was shortly followed by Trista Sutter’s voluntary withdrawal, thus ending the dating franchise’s dominance carried over from previous seasons.

The real question, however, is what was more painful — Ali’s finger injury, her son finding pics of her former fiancé, or Ellen DeGeneres making her feel “stupid” on her popular talk show?

As A Bachelor Fan Of Course I’m Disappointed With This Season Of Special Forces, But The Reason Is Deeper Than You Might Think

Spoiler alert! This story contains spoilers for all episodes of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 3 through January 15’s “Terror” and “Brotherhood.” You can catch up by streaming episodes with a Hulu subscription.

It feels like the third season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test has barely begun airing on the 2025 TV schedule, and already a ton of celebrities have been booted. From the recruits so far, we’ve seen anticlimactic exits — like that of proud grandpa Stephen Baldwin, who was disqualified after voicing concerns about being injured — as well as scary medical withdrawals from athletes like Marion Jones-Thompson and Landon Donovan. As a fan of The Bachelor franchise, I’m devastated that we’ve also already lost both Ali Fedotowsky-Manno and Trista Sutter, but my reason is deeper than simply not getting to watch them on the show anymore.

The fact that both Trista Sutter and Ali Fedotowsky-Manno have withdrawn from the Fox competition show — and so early in the season — is so disappointing to me because of how well Bachelor Nation alumni have done historically on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. In fact, before this season, every Bachelor/Bachelorette contestant who’s been on this show has won it — Hannah Brown in Season 1, and Nick Viall and Tyler Cameron in Season 2.

I'm really bummed that the finger injury suffered by Ali Fedotowsky-Manno — who appeared on Jake Pavelka’s season of The Bachelor before becoming The Bachelorette in Season 6 — put an end to the dating franchise’s dominance on Special Forces. You could tell how disappointed she was at having to medically withdraw, which made it all the more painful for fans to watch.

She was followed shortly after by one of the franchise’s most famous contestants, Trista Sutter, who was the runner-up on Season 1 of The Bachelor and went on to become the very first lead of The Bachelorette. Trista is still married to the guy she met on that show, Ryan Sutter, and who can forget the mess he made this past summer when Trista “disappeared” to film Special Forces? Her exit came after she reportedly went into hypothermic shock after a challenge. Trista told TV Insider:

I ended up in hypothermic shock, which looked like I couldn’t lift my head up and my jaw was locking, which was really scary to me. Christy [Carlson Romano] was in the vehicle with me and was like, ‘You’re turning blue. Get on my lap.’ Her and Cam [Newton] put me on their laps and covered me with every coat and sweatshirt you could think of. They turned the heat up in the vehicle. You’re not supposed to talk to the producers in the vehicle, but it was a scary time.

That sounds actually really serious, and even in the disappointment over losing our Bachelor Nation representatives, nobody can argue that both were valid withdrawals. It just would have been so cool to continue the trend of the dating show contestants owning a competition that’s so physically and mentally demanding.

After hearing the literal torture that former Bachelorette Hannah Brown endured during the final interrogation of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, I’m not sure how anybody would volunteer to partake in the show. Sure enough, however, Season 2 came along featuring former Bachelor Nick Viall and Tyler Cameron, who was the runner-up on Hannah Brown’s season. Both made it through the interrogation that capped that season.

We’ll have to see who’s got what it takes to complete Season 3, but for Bachelor Nation, it’s a hard pill to swallow that it won’t be one our own this time around. Looking for love on reality TV can’t be an easy thing (as Grant Ellis is about to find out when The Bachelor premieres on the 2025 TV schedule), and yet, Katie Thurston built her career doing just that. The former Bachelorette was thrice unsuccessful in finding her forever person in front of the dating show cameras, but it wasn’t like she could just hit the apps anonymously anymore. Thurston opened up about the biggest change she had to make, and I was actually surprised by her perspective.

America first met Katie Thurston when she appeared as a sex-positive contestant on Matt James’ season of ABC’s dating show in 2020, armed with her trusty purple vibrator. She went on to to lead Season 17 of The Bachelorette, and in 2023 she was one of the leads of The CW’s FBoy Island. After the last of those relationships ended, a lot was different about the way she had to approach finding a partner, and in Q&A on her Instagram Stories, she revealed the biggest change, writing:

Having a large audience was the biggest shift in how I dated. I wanted someone who wasn’t intimidated by my large audience or excited to use my large audience. If you have dirt, those skeletons will make its way to me pretty quickly (and for the best).

After appearances on three reality dating shows (not to mention her guest role on Bachelor in Paradise), Katie Thurston had gained hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers, and plenty of her fans were invested in her love story. Not only did she have to find someone who was OK with her being a public figure in that way, she had to make sure any prospective partner wasn’t using her for her newfound fame.

That seems like a huge burden, especially with fans who are used to getting such an intimate look at her relationships, so I was surprised by that second part of her answer, where she suggests she’s grateful that her followers have been quick to alert her to any red flags in the guys she’s posted with. I would think it would be such a pain to deal with DMs regarding any and all potential boyfriends, but she admits it was for the best that she was able to have them basically vetted by the general public.

Of course, it seems she learned her lesson from that, too, as she continued:

I also learned not to post a guy within the first 90 days of dating (it often ended within this exploration phase). Posting a guy too soon has led me to extend a relationship far beyond its expiration date in order to avoid embarrassment.

I guess you can’t have it both ways. Putting a relationship out there for public consumption too soon can put a lot of pressure on it, and if the spark ends up fizzling anyway, it was all for nothing. However, waiting until things are a little more serious before hard-launching a new fella also means she doesn’t have the opportunity for those skeletons to be unearthed in a timely manner.

Thankfully for Katie Thurston, she doesn’t have to worry about that anymore. She’s now engaged to fellow comedian Jeff Arcuri after meeting him earlier in 2024.

After competing for Matt James’ heart on The Bachelor, Thurston got engaged to Blake Moynes during a dramatic Bachelorette finale that included her accusing contestant Greg Grippo of lying and gaslighting. She ultimately called off her engagement and began dating John Hersey, another contestant from her season, before that also ended and she went on FBOY Island.

Maybe reality TV didn’t lead directly to love, but it got her fame, as well as a pretty positive perspective on the upside of a public relationship.

‘Stupid Dating Show’: Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Hold Back When Finally Addressing Feud With Brother Jordan And What Happened On The Bachelorette

Aaron Rodgers is finally opening up about the complicated relationship he has with his family on the docuseries Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, which just hit the 2024 Netflix schedule. The rift — particularly between the quarterback and his younger brother Jordan Rodgers — became public knowledge when Jordan went on The Bachelorette in 2016. Aaron didn’t mince words about what went down when his brother brought JoJo Fletcher home to meet his parents, calling The Bachelor series “a stupid dating show that my brother just went on to get famous.”

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is a three-part docuseries (which premiered December 17 and can be streamed now with a Netflix subscription) that dives into the life and career of the sometimes-controversial Super Bowl MVP. He said a distance started to form between him and Jordan Rodgers as they grew up and their football careers began. Aaron said:

It wasn’t like I was super duper close with everybody in the family. I was close with my little brother. But in actuality, it goes back to stuff from high school that kind of made me feel distant. Stuff in college, stuff post-college. And I was quiet about it, because I thought the best way to do it was just don’t talk about it publicly.

However, Jordan Rodgers — who would go on to marry The Bachelorette’s JoJo Fletcher in 2022 — did talk about it publicly. He didn’t go into too much detail regarding what exactly happened with Aaron, but he made it clear that they hadn’t spoken in two years because of “the way he’s chosen to do life.”

Aaron Rodgers was particularly irritated by his family’s actions when Jordan brought JoJo Fletcher to meet his parents on Hometown dates. He said on Enigma:

And what do they do? They go on a bullshit show and leave two empty chairs. They all agreed this was a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs at a stupid dating show that my brother just went on to get famous — his words, not mine. That he ended up winning. But a dinner that was during the season, I was never asked to go to, not that I would’ve gone.

Wow, shots fired not only at his brother — saying Jordan only went on The Bachelorette to get famous — but to the “stupid” Bachelor franchise as a whole!

Clearly Aaron Rodgers was — and understandably still is — upset about the two empty chairs left for him and his then-girlfriend Olivia Munn that made it look like they had snubbed the Bachelor Nation couple. In actuality everyone knew there was no chance he’d be there, because not only did The Bachelorette allegedly film during football season, but he wasn’t even invited.

Aaron Rodgers — who was playing for the Green Bay Packers back then — made it clear he didn’t want to discuss Jordan Rodgers’ stint on The Bachelorette, shading his brother in an interview at the time by saying:

I’ve always found that it’s a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters, so I’m not going to speak on those things. But I wish him well in the competition.

In Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, the New York Jets quarterback did leave the door open for reconciling with Jordan Rodgers and the rest of his family. He said he doesn’t wish ill will on any of them and wants the best for everyone, but right now they’re on “different steps on the timeline of our own journeys.

I guess we can assume Aaron Rodgers won’t be tuning in when The Bachelor returns to the 2025 TV schedule, but I, for one, am excited to see Grant Ellis’ journey to find love.

After DWTS’ Ilona Maher and Joey Graziadei’s Bachelorette Video Went Viral, He Weighed In On Whether She Should Join The Show: ‘I Might Know Some People’

Ilona Maher gained a number of fans as part of the bronze medal-winning U.S. rugby team at the Paris Olympics, and she’s only continued to redefine stereotypes on Dancing with the Stars. People have enjoyed watching her partnership with Alan Bersten on the 2024 TV schedule, but is it possible she might return to ABC to seek a longer-lasting relationship on The Bachelorette? After going viral for a hilarious TikTok with Joey Graziadei, the former Bachelor weighed in on if Maher really should enter the reality dating game.

The DWTS Season 33 cast features not only Bachelor Nation alum Joey Graziadei, but the most recent lead of The Bachelorette, Jenn Tran. So with Ilona Maher making it clear that she’s ready to find her own perfect match, it’s not really a surprise that her fellow dancers are rubbing off on her a little bit. So how would she do on the show? Graziadei had all the confidence in the world in her, telling ET:

Ilona has what it takes to be whatever she wants to be. If she wants to be the Bachelorette, if she wants to be president, I will be in her camp. I was just giving her some fun tips on how a rose ceremony would go, but she needs no help from me whatsoever. If she wants to do that, I’m sure she will, and I’m sure that she will crush it.

It sounds like Joey Graziadei is not underestimating the Olympic athlete in whatever path she wants to pursue. However, with his own connections within the reality dating realm, he suggested he might be able to help her out, if being The Bachelorette on the 2025 TV schedule is what she wants. He said:

I might know some people. We’ll see what happens. I don’t know. It’s a matter of if she wants to do it or not.

After Ilona Maher joked that she’d date 20 men for America, the idea of her being the next Bachelorette spread like wildfire. Adding fuel to the fire, she enlisted Joey Graziadei’s help, leading a mock rose ceremony in an A+ TikTok video that went viral. After seeing this, you’ll definitely understand why Maher’s season of The Bachelorette would be can’t-miss television:

As a longtime fan of all things Bachelor Nation, I would kill for a lead who was honest enough to say things like, “You all are beautiful, but I don’t like all of you,” or to give someone a rose and then tell them their vibe has been terrible. Ilona Maher’s DWTS expert is all in on the idea, too, but Alan Bersten’s got some requirements for the men who court his partner, including they have to be good at contact sports (or just “strong,” Maher said) and enjoy reading. She added she wants a guy who likes food.

Those provisions don’t seem to be too much, do they, Bachelor producers? She’s already shown us what she’s capable of during rose ceremonies, so I think it’s time for Joey Graziadei to make that call. In the meantime, though, we can watch both Graziadei and Ilona Maher compete in the three-hour Dancing with the Stars finale, which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday, November 26, on ABC and streaming with a Disney+ subscription.

Considering Dancing with the Stars' Season 33 cast features a Bachelor and a Bachelorette, it makes sense that the internet is thinking about who could take over that mantel from the DWTS ensemble. A frontrunner, in a joking way, is Ilona Maher, who has posted numerous times about wanting to find her person. Now, the rugby player and her partner Alan Bersten have hilariously laid out the requirements for her potential eligible bachelors, and I hope ABC is taking notes.

After DWTS’ 500th episode aired on the 2024 TV schedule, and Maher and Bersten survived the instant dance challenge, they did a slew of post-show interviews. While chatting with ET, they were asked about previous comments regarding The Bachelorette. And instead of turning the question down, they played with it and explained all the qualities that could make her dream man:

Obviously, the duo seems to be joking. However, they made some great points, and there’s no denying that Ilona Maher would be a great lead for The Bachelorette (or any reality show, really). Plus, she’s been competing alongside last season’s lead, Jen Tran and the most recent Bachelor Joey Graziadei for weeks now. So, she could easily get pointers.

However, based on the specific list of requirements Alan had, I think these two have it covered. So, Bachelorette producers, listen up. We’re looking for 30 men, and Ilona's partner has a great list of qualifications for them, starting with:

I'm gonna set some tough requirements. For the guy to even get there. You gotta be able to be good in contact sports.

Considering Ilona Maher is a professional rugby player who has an Olympic medal for the sport, I think this is a good requirement. However, she made a fair point after that, saying that they could be “just, like strong” too.

Along with that, Bersten noted a height requirement, asking Maher if 6'2" or 6'5" is preferred. She clarified that 5’ 10” – which is her height – or taller is ideal.

The final two requirements are super important too. As you know if you follow the athlete on TikTok, she loves to read, and her partner said that her man also needs to “be able to read books.” Meanwhile, Maher laid down one more law herself, making it clear that her potential love interest must be into food. She will have no one who isn’t appreciative of a good meal. And overall, I agree with all of that.

So, let’s get the casting call out, shall we? This sounds like a lock to me!

As you know if you’ve followed The Olympics and DWTS, Ilona Maher is an empowering woman. She’s also incredibly funny – as you can see in any of her TikToks, including the one where she and Bersten tried Danny Amendola’s viral life. Plus, she seems so grounded and caring. So, she’s deserving of love, and maybe she’ll find it on The Bachelorette.

While Ilona and Alan were joking about this all, I’d certainly sign up to watch a season of The Bachelorette led by the Olympian. Plus, I’d love to see the men they find who obviously must meet all the qualifications listed above.

Well, even though this all might be a pipe dream, it’s fun to dream and joke about. And thankfully, we haven’t seen the last of Ilona on our TVs as she’s still competing on Dancing with the Stars. Hear Me Out: There's A Big Reason Why Gerry And Theresa’s Divorce Shouldn’t Keep You From Watching The Golden Bachelorette

Last September, I was right there with the rest of America, tearily cheering The Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner on as he searched for love again. However, as a longtime Bachelor fan, I wasn’t exactly surprised when he and Theresa Nist announced their divorce. Emotionally devastated? Sure. Just not surprised. So as Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette is set to hit the 2024 TV schedule, I completely understand why Bachelor Nation feels burned. However, there’s one huge reason why viewers shouldn’t be deterred from watching, and it has to do with the history of the franchise.

It turns out the first season of The Bachelor didn’t end in a “till death do we part” fairy tale either, but The Bachelorette has always been a whole different story. Let’s take a look back, shall we?

Could Gerry and Joan’s Seasons Mirror The First Seasons Of The Bachelor And The Bachelorette?

Back in 2002, Alex Michel and Amanda Marsh became The Bachelor’s first official couple. Never heard of them? Yeah, they are definitely not amongst the most famous Bachelor alums, and that might be because their relationship ended less than a year after they filmed the Season 1 finale. But you know who else was on that inaugural season? Trista Sutter.

When she appeared as a contestant on Alex Michel’s season, she was still Trista Rehn, and after she finished in second place, ABC decided to make her the very first lead of The Bachelorette. The rest is history, because to this day she remains married to Ryan Sutter (pictured above with Trista), who was a 28-year-old firefighter when he proposed back in 2003.

Think about it, if we’d given up on The Bachelor after Alex Michel’s breakup, we wouldn’t have gotten Trista Sutter’s decades-long love story or the incredible highs and lows of the other 47 seasons that have aired on ABC since then. So we can’t give up on Joan Vassos and the Golden franchise just because Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist didn’t last.

The Bachelorette Couples Have Historically Been More Successful Than The Bachelor’s

It’s not just the first two seasons of the flagship series either. The Bachelorette has resulted in more marriages between the lead and the man they choose in the end than its counterpart, and as far as successful relationships go, until recently, it wasn’t even close. Sean Lowe remains the only Bachelor to make it to the altar with the woman he proposed to on the show. Compare that to five weddings for The Bachelorette in fewer seasons.

When you break it down a little further, however, the women don’t have quite as much of an advantage. Of the five Bachelorette couples who married, only three remain together:

Season 1’s Trista and Ryan Sutter (married in 2003)
Season 9’s Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegried (married in 2015)
Season 12’s JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers (pictured above, married in 2022 after a six-year engagement).

The other two have since gotten divorced, with Season 7’s Ashley Hebert splitting with J.P. Rosenbaum after eight years of marriage and Bryan Abasolo filing for divorce from Season 13’s Rachel Lindsay in January 2024 after four years as husband and wife.

Then there’s Season 25’s Charity Lawson, who is currently engaged to Dotun Olubeko. Will they be the sixth Bachelorette couple to say “I do”?

Over on The Bachelor side, as previously mentioned, Season 17’s Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici have been married since 2014. While they’re technically the only final couple to marry, some may count Season 13’s Jason Mesnick and Season 22’s Arie Luyendyk Jr., who each changed their mind following their finale proposal and ultimately married (and remain married to) their runners-up, Molly Malaney and Lauren Burnham, respectively.

You’ve also got several final Bachelor couples who are still together but not married (yet?). Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell are still together after their roller coaster of a season in 2021, and the two most recent Bachelors — Zach Shallcross and Joey Graziadei — remain engaged to Kaity Biggar and Kelsey Anderson, respectively.

The Golden Franchise Is Bigger Than Its Relationships

Looking at it through the lens of history and women seeming to have more success than the men does give me hope that Joan Vassos might just find what she’s looking for. However, even if you take the romance out of it, there are other important reasons why we can’t give up so soon on the Golden shows. Simply put, too much good came out of Gerry Turner’s season to reduce it to his divorce from Theresa Nist.

The Golden Bachelor did appeal to viewers because of its love story, but it was so much more than that. The series was wholesome and full of heart, but it was tragic in a way as well. It gave its contestants a platform to discuss grief and loss in an honest way with peers who could empathize, and that’s simply something that isn’t seen on TV.

Not only did the dating spinoff give people hope that love can be found no matter how old they are, it let us witness eye-opening conversations about sex, friendship and aging. It allowed people like Joan Vassos to not feel invisible.

Sure, I’ve still got some skepticism going into it. Joan opened up about a conversation she had with Gerry Turner on his season regarding her unwillingness to move away from her family. Location is likely to be an enduring issue for the Golden seasons, as people with children and grandchildren aren’t going to be as willing to pick up and move for a relationship as singles in their 20s and 30s. Still, at least we’ve got history on our side.

I’m trying to remain optimistic that The Golden Bachelorette will end in success, even in the wake of Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s failed marriage, the same way that Trista Sutter followed Alex Michel. Either way, we don’t have long to find out now. Joan Vassos’ journey kicks off at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, September 18, on ABC and can be streamed the next day with a Hulu subscription.

‘Do I Just Run Off Stage?' Jenn Tran Opens Up About Brutal Bachelorette Finale And Why ABC 'Needed' To Air Her Proposal

The Bachelorette higher-ups and ABC have been feeling some major blowback from Bachelor Nation since the Season 21 finale aired on the 2024 TV schedule. In a move that many fans called “cruel,” Jenn Tran was made to watch back her proposal, sobbing the whole time, with her ex-fiancé Devin Strader sitting right next to her. Jenn opened up about that disaster of a finale, admitting that she thought about running off stage, but she explained why the proposal “needed” to be aired.

A historic moment on a historic season quickly made history for all the wrong reasons on the September 3 finale. Jenn Tran is the first Asian American to lead a Bachelor franchise show, and she also became the first Bachelorette to propose to her final guy. However, ABC opting to show that proposal the way that they did was possibly its most brutal move since The Bachelor Season 22 controversial finale, when Arie Luyendyk Jr. blindsided Becca Kufrin by dumping her on-camera during a “happy couple weekend.” Jenn told Glamour that she definitely felt the urge to flee the scene Tuesday, saying:

In my head I had thought about it. I was like, I don’t know if I am completely comfortable being this emotional in front of so many people. I think I struggled with, Do I just run offstage or is that going to make a bigger scene? But once the waterworks started, I was like, Oh, this is going to be dramatic if I just run away, so maybe I just sit here? I was just struggling with myself and what to do in that moment.

I had wondered this exact thing as I watched the finale — mouth agape — from my couch: Why doesn't she leave? They can't stop her. Is she afraid to make it worse?

It turns out The Bachelorette producers at least warned Jenn Tran of how the finale would go down, and as hard as it was, she “needed” her proposal to be shown. Jenn said:

Yes, I did know that was going to happen. They walked me through the game plan and everything. I guess I just didn’t know how heavy I would be feeling in the moment, just seeing [Devin] again and having that conversation that we had. I was very, very anxious that night and so my emotions were just all over the place from the beginning. It was a very hard thing to do to watch it back with him, but I also knew that it needed to be done because I wanted him to watch that part.

As for why it was important to Jenn Tran that her ex watch back their mutual proposals, she said it didn’t seem like Devin Strader remembered all promises he made over the course of the season and all the things he said. She continued:

I’m like, Why don’t you watch this back and listen to the words that you’re saying to me and realize why I’m so hurt by what you did? But it was definitely not an easy thing to do, and I didn’t think I was going to be so emotional.

It was definitely emotional, and Bachelor Nation seemed to feel collectively terrible for what Jenn Tran had to endure on that stage. Even if she wanted Devin Strader to remember the promises they’d made to each other that day, I still think the decision to air the proposal the way they did — with both of them on stage together, after it had already been revealed that they broke up — was simply the wrong move.

Hopefully Dancing with the Stars is a less traumatizing experience, as Jenn Tran was announced to be joining the Season 33 cast, although after hearing what Charity Lawson said about the bullying she endured from DWTS fans — “I was getting death threats for existing.” — I’m a little skeptical.

‘This Is So Cruel’: The Bachelorette Finale Enrages Fans Over Its Handling Of Jenn Tran’s Proposal

Spoiler alert! This story contains major spoilers about Jenn Tran’s season finale of The Bachelorette that aired on September 3. Watch episodes with your Hulu subscription if you’re not caught up.

ABC spent the entire 21st season of The Bachelorette teasing the finale moment when Jenn Tran tells her final suitor she can’t let him get down on one knee, and many guessed it was because Jenn wanted to be the one to propose. Well, that prediction turned out to be correct, but unfortunately that was when the whole three-hour affair went downhill. After Jenn sent Marcus Shobert home, what should have been a historic, liberating moment for Jenn was botched by ABC in a move that many Bachelor Nation members called “cruel.”

After Jenn Tran said she was going to ask Devin Strader to marry her, instead of progressing to that portion of the Season 21 finale, host Jesse Palmer explained that they couldn’t air the proposal without discussing with Jenn what had happened since filming ended. She revealed that Devin had basically checked out of the relationship just weeks after the cameras stopped rolling, and the engagement was over. Devin came out, and they exchanged some words about their split.

The host then tried to bring it back to Jenn Tran’s big empowering moment, saying that she’d made history as the first Bachelorette to propose, and no one could take that away from her. “What do you think? Should we all watch it together?” he asked, and after an excruciatingly long pause, as the footage began to air, Jenn exasperatedly asked:

Do I have a choice?

Of course she didn’t want to watch it, and at that point, neither did we. Bachelor Nation seemed to hate the disrespect ABC showed to Jenn Tran in that moment, with one X (Twitter) user pointing out how this move followed the show’s failure to include Asian representation when casting Jenn’s season:

The producers did Jenn dirty this season by casting the wrong guys for her and then on tonight’s 3 hour season finale they did the cruelest thing by showing that proposal.

Jenn Tran’s whole season was themed around the physician assistant student — and the franchise’s first Asian American lead — having the main character energy that hasn’t always been given to Asians on TV. The tagline on the marketing for The Bachelorette was “The power is in her hands.”

It really didn’t feel like they left her with much of anything, though, as we were all forced to watch her promise everything to a man we already knew wasn’t going to keep his end of the bargain. I can recognize the fact that ABC was put in a tough situation, having teased the proposal all season as well as wanting Jenn Tran to get her ultimate main character moment. It really felt like there could have been a more tasteful way to go about it. Another fan wrote:

Absolutely not. I know a lot of people really want to see the proposal but it’s absolutely not appropriate to play it, ESPECIALLY after those conversations, ESPECIALLY with Jenn and Devin there and ESPECIALLYYY with how Jenn reacted when Jesse brought it up … I feel so horrible for Jenn. They should’ve at least let her backstage if they truly needed to show the proposal.

I really hate this ending for Jenn Tran, because it should have been a celebration of her — regardless of whether or not she got engaged. Instead it felt super gross. Hopefully now that her season is over, she can get more closure.

As for the rest of us, we’ve got just a couple of weeks to wash the bad taste out of our mouths before Joan Vassos stars on the premiere season of The Golden Bachelorette, which hits the 2024 TV schedule at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, September 18, and can be streamed the next day on Hulu.
