Unlike The Late Show, which aired the same day it taped, The Kelly Clarkson Show records its episodes months in advance, so we’ve still got a while before we actually get to see the final episode on TV. Still, June 11 was reportedly the final day of physical production, as revealed by producer Bryce Mcleay, who posted a lengthy and emotional message on Instagram to commemorate the end, writing in part:

There was some confusion about when the final tape day was, as fans tried to get tickets to be in one of Kelly Clarkson’s final studio audiences. According to a discussion on Reddit, it appears the final episode with its host was taped on June 5, and guest hosts continued to film The Kelly Clarkson Show’s final episodes until June 11 (I'm assuming those guest-led episodes will still air before Clarkson's finale, despite being taped later).

According to fans and the ticket site 1iota, Joel McHale was scheduled for an interview on the morning of June 11, with Mario and Courtney Lopez serving as guest hosts for a taping that afternoon.

Other social media posts seemed to confirm that production on the popular daytime talk show ceased over a week ago, as stage manager Brendan Higgins reflected on how “badass” it’s been to be a part of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Longtime contributors Emily Kaufman (aka The Travel Mom) and lifestyle expert Lawrence Zarian also seem to have made their final appearances, each posting their own memories.

The gist from insiders is that Weir and Lipinski are a proven duo who understand what makes good television, and they're good at what they do. In addition to their recent appearance on The Traitors, they've been commentators for ice skating during the Winter Olympics for over a decade.

And while Johnny Weir said celebrities may not be their target demographic after no one clocked their friendship on The Traitors, both he and Tara Lipinski are reportedly well-liked amongst the demo that follows daytime television. No solid deal is in place, but given the praise, don't be surprised if we get a new show announced with this duo soon.

Another Famous Name Is Allegedly Being Considered As Well

Nothing is for sure when it comes to who is replacing Kelly Clarkson just yet, and other names beyond Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are being considered as well. Pink was recently reported as another name in the mix, and she's filling in for the singer currently.

It's hard to say with certainty which way NBC's executives are leaning, because those are two entirely different picks for the job. If I had to speculate, Pink would land the role if the intention is to continue a format similar to The Kelly Clarkson Show, and based on her guest-hosting stents so far, she seems to do well enough in the role.

Bringing in Weir and Lipinski feels like it would be a new show entirely, perhaps something closer to Live with Kelly and Mark. Who knows, there may even be another show and celebrity in the mix being considered as well. Honestly, I'm not sure who would be a better option given the rumored options so far, so I don't envy the people who ultimately have to make that decision!

Last week news broke that both The Kelly Clarkson Show and Sherri would not return following the end of their current seasons on the 2026 TV schedule. Meghan McCain seemed to have a strong opinion about the reason for that, as she wrote (via EW) in a since-deleted post on X:

Meghan McCain didn’t mention either Kelly Clarkson or Sherri Shepherd by name, but given that this post came just days after these two major cancellations, it seems fairly simple to connect the dots. She went on to shout out another former talk show host whose style McCain had more of an appreciation for, writing:

It’s strange that Meghan McCain would fire such shots at Kelly Clarkson, who is generally loved for her relatability, but it seems the daughter of late Sen. John McCain prefers talk show hosts who push the envelope, perhaps challenging their guests a little more than the American Idol singer.

Meanwhile, Meghan McCain has had issues with Sherri Shepherd — who also previously co-hosted The View — in the past, which possibly makes the shade easier to explain. Back in 2022, Shepherd trash-talked McCain on Watch What Happens Live, and McCain responded by calling out the “toxic mean girl” reputation on ABC’s award-winning daytime series.

Sherri Shepherd was also the host chosen to replace Wendy Williams when health issues prompted her own series cancellation. Is it possible Kelly Clarkson just got caught in the crosshairs of an old beef? That would be easier to believe if McCain’s post had mentioned just one cancellation and not said, “all these daytime talk shows.”

Kelly Clarkson made the announcement on February 2, saying that stepping away from The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons “will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.” Brandon Blackstock, her ex-husband and the father of her two children, died in August after a long battle with cancer.

News of Sherri’s cancellation following Season 4, meanwhile, came just hours later from Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, the co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, who said:

Sherri Shepherd spoke out the following day to thank fans for their support, saying that she had COVID and would “address all of the news that has come out” when she was feeling better.

Jennifer Hudson also has become a celebrated host, and she shared her unique perspective on the situation.

It’s not known exactly when Kelly Clarkson will host her final episode, just that it will be sometime on the 2026 TV schedule. When that day comes, she’ll get nothing but well-wishes from one fellow American Idol contestant, as Jennifer Hudson told Variety at the premiere of her new movie Goat:

It’s pretty sweet that Jennifer Hudson would use the animated movie’s title to reference someone else as the “Greatest Of All Time,” especially since they’re technically in competition for daytime viewers.

While both are among American Idol’s most famous contestants, they did not compete against each other on the show. Kelly Clarkson won the first season in 2002, with Jennifer Hudson finishing seventh on Season 3 (and yes, fans are still upset about that).

In addition to making music, both went on to pursue other opportunities post-Idol before the talk show world came knocking. They were both coaches on The Voice, for instance, and Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls before hitting the Broadway stage and ultimately earning an EGOT.

The Kelly Clarkson Show debuted in 2019, with The Jennifer Hudson Show following in 2022. They’ve both become hits, with Clarkson’s winning 24 Daytime Emmys and J-Hud’s earning a dozen nominations. Hudson’s viral Spirit Tunnel videos have become a phenomenon unto themselves.

Rumors that Kelly Clarkson was quitting TV plagued the singer throughout 2025 — even after it was learned that her unexplained absences and canceled shows were due to the illness and ultimate death of ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Insiders continued to suggest that her enthusiasm for The Kelly Clarkson Show was waning and that she would walk away after her contract expired following Season 7.

Kelly Clarkson has been pretty forthcoming about how demanding her talk show is, and when the final episode reaches the 2026 TV schedule, it sounds like she’s going to enjoy the newfound freedom. An alleged insider told People:

River, 11, and Remington, 9, were Kelly Clarkson’s top priority even before the death of their father, Brandon Blackstock, who is Clarkson’s ex-husband. Parenting them through this grief can’t be easy, and she’s reportedly focused on being present with them and providing stability. Not having to work around her talk show schedule will make that a lot easier, according to the source, who said:

I’d say Kelly Clarkson has definitely earned some balance. Since finding fame on American Idol in 2002, she’s starred in a movie, became a coach on The Voice, released 10 studio albums (winning 3 Grammy Awards), led an Emmy-winning talk show (two dozen Emmys, to be exact), hosted American Song Contest, covered the Olympics, and continued to tour and host residencies in Las Vegas.

The insider confirms Kelly Clarkson will keep making music, and I’m relieved that she’ll allegedly still take on other “projects she enjoys,” because I’d love to see her return to The Voice on a more regular basis.

The talk show host herself said she needed to spend this time with River and Remington when she announced the impending end of The Kelly Clarkson Show, saying:

As disappointing as that is to fans, it’s hard to argue with her reasoning, and I’m glad her kids will have her focused attention as they grieve the loss of their dad. Even other celebs responded with love and support as news circulated.

We don’t have an exact date for The Kelly Clarkson Show’s final episode yet, but she usually wraps her seasons in late June or early July. The TV talk show landscape has been in flux for a while, with The Late Show canceled and set to end in May, leaving just ABC and NBC with late night fare (for now). For all the sour feelings, it's not like The Kelly Clarkson Show is actually done yet. The currently in-production seventh season will be the last one, but episodes are expected to continue filming and airing into Fall 2026, so at least another seven or eight months, barring any additional setbacks.

Will another superstar celeb take her place, or will that time slot inevitably get filled by cheaper local fare? Will Clarkson return to The Voice's next open slot? Will she relese a box set of Kellyoke covers? Hopefully "yes" to three of those, and not to much to the cheap local content.

Now, however, weeks of rumors about the future of her talk show have come true: The Kelly Clarkson Show is ending after seven seasons, and the host/music star shared her reasoning for walking away from the show that has been such a hit.

In a statement confirming that The Kelly Clarkson Show will end in the fall of the 2026 TV schedule, Clarkson started out by expressing her gratitude for the "amazing moments" she's experienced over her years of daytime television. She said:

Kelly Clarkson has been through a lot in her personal life over the seven seasons of the show, including her highly publicized divorce from ex Brandon Blackstock, followed by his passing in the summer of 2025. While she has kept her smile on during The Kelly Clarkson show, the host explained why she made what she describes as "not an easy decision." She said:

Production on Season 7 will continue as originally planned, with new episodes set to air through to Fall 2026. Clarkson will continue hosting as usual, but special guest hosts are on the way as well. This isn't particularly shocking; she was absent from the show for some time ahead of the 1,000-episode milestone, although she was present for the milestone with some cheeky comments for the audience.

NBCUniversal Executive Vice President of Syndication Studios Tracis Wilson praised the series as "an extraordinary collaboration," while also crediting showrunner Alex Duda for "vision, leadership and unwavering commitment across all seven seasons" that have "guided us through unprecedented times and a cross-country move." Valari Staab, Chairman of NBCUniversal Local, said "We thank Kelly and the production team" and she will "look forward to the remainder of this season as they complete their successful run."

As for Clarkson herself, singer made it clear in her statement that she's not leaving daytime TV because she wants to focus on The Voice or chase another talk show opportunity, but she'll be able to "prioritize" her kids. There were rumors of problems behind the scenes as far back as April 2025, but there was reason to hope for The Kelly Clarkson Show to continue as recently as late January.

Clarkson and her show have been present on the awards circuit going back to the beginning, earning nominations at the People's Choice Awards, Critics Choice Awards, and Daytime Emmy Awards. Clarkson herself won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show host in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, with the show winning Outstanding Talk Show in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Most recently, an insider claimed that the show might be at the bottom of her list of things she wants to prioritize in her life moving forward, seriously casting doubt on whether the show would span past the 2026 TV schedule. However, a rep for the show says there’s a wrinkle in the ‘rumor’ of the show ending.

According to a representative of the Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show, who spoke to Entertainment Weekly, there are currently no plans to end the series after its seventh season, despite recent online speculation. The rep wrote:

Speculation about The Kelly Clarkson Show’s future began circulating last week, after a source alleged the series was no longer “sustainable” in a fast-shifting daytime TV landscape.

It would seem, despite the rumors, not everyone is ready to close the curtains. Another insider cautioned against rushing to conclusions, stressing that no final decision has been made and the season is still far from over. For now, at least, the “Stronger” singer doesn’t appear to be packing up Studio 6A.

The talk show kicked off its 7th season last September in classic Clarkson fashion, opening with a “Kellyoke” cover of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” before welcoming A Big Bold Beautiful Journey stars Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell for interviews. During her opening remarks, the Texas native framed the new season around optimism and purpose, explaining that the focus would be on spotlighting people who are actively trying to make a positive difference in their communities.

Executive producer Alex Duda further explained to the outlet that the show's focus on community and positivity was something they planned to build on through newly added segments like Life Well Lit and Celebs With Skills. Both were designed to shift the focus outward, highlighting positivity and practical inspiration rather than just celebrity chatter. Duda framed the approach as a conscious choice, especially during uncertain times. The goal, he said:

At the same time, it wouldn’t be surprising if the “Because of You” performer ever felt the need to step back. The past year has brought significant change for Clarkson, both on a personal level and in her career. In 2025, she lost her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, the father of her two children. His death helped clarify why the American Idol winner had stepped away from tapings earlier that year, as she was reportedly prioritizing time with her kids and supporting them while Blackstock’s health declined. The loss also had ripple effects beyond her talk show, impacting her availability and role as a judge on The Voice.

For now, whether the singer-turned-talk-show host ultimately takes a step back remains an open question, but according to at least one show representative, talk of an imminent exit is getting ahead of reality. As things stand, the rumors are just that, and Kelly Clarkson is said to be fully committed as the show heads into the back half of Season 7, which is scheduled to continue through the summer.

While some people within the show claim she’s not focused, another source says the “Breakaway” performer still wants to “give it her all” as this season of her show progresses and wants to go out on a high note:

Nevertheless, a lot has changed for Clarkson over the past year, from both personal and professional standpoints. In 2025, Clarkson marked the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who was also the father of her two young kids. Blackstock’s death retroactively explained why Clarkson had been absent from tapings during the earlier part of that year, as she’d reportedly been taking her children to see their father amid his illness. Blackstock’s passing also impacted Clarkson’s role as a judge on The Voice.

As for Kelly Clarkson’s talk show, before it returned in the fall of 2025, there was mass speculation as to how the eponymous host was feeling about the program. Clarkson notably went viral that May for speaking about her demanding talk show schedule during a live performance in Atlantic City. All the while, staffers have reportedly been trying to handle the atmosphere behind the scenes, and some have apparently not been too bullish about the show’s future long term.

One of Daily Mail’s sources also alleges that Clarkson hasn’t quite been herself since her ex’s passing and that there’s been “something different” with her. As for how Clarkson’s allegedly feeling about her career, it’s been claimed that she’s excited about making new music and that she also purportedly wants to shift away from daytime TV. The Grammy winner’s TV contract is set to expire this year, so she now has the opportunity to step away should she so choose.

Career-wise, it feels like there’s very little that Kelly Clarkson hasn’t done. Since finding fame as the very first winner of American Idol, she has starred in a movie, toured all over the world, become a mom, provided commentary at the Olympics, started a talk show and won Emmy Awards for it. There is no venue too big for Clarkson’s powerhouse vocals, but of everything she’s accomplished, there was just one audience that left her “terrified” — her child’s classroom.

Kelly Clarkson is used to the spotlight, but apparently, it feels different when all of those looks are coming from children — and not just any children, but the ones your own kid has to see every day. She opened up about the harrowing experience when Saturday Night Live comedian (and new children’s book author) Kenan Thompson visited The Kelly Clarkson Show, admitting to him:

Yes, I left “sang for the pope” off the above list of Kelly Clarkson's accomplishments, but that’s a pretty good example to describe just how much pressure she felt going in front of a classroom to read a book. Maybe if she’d been up there to sing, rather than read, she would have felt slightly more at home.

Kenan Thompson agreed that reading for children is terrifying because at that young age, they have no filter, and they’re not afraid to share their opinions, no matter how brutal the truth could be.

Neither Kelly Clarkson nor Kenan Thompson seemed to actually have had a bad experience with any of the students, thankfully, because I can understand the main reason Clarkson would be nervous. She said:

Either way, even those outside of her kids’ school will be able to see more of Kelly Clarkson soon, as she’s returning as a coach on The Voice when Season 29 hits the 2026 TV schedule next month. Clarkson’s return, of course, comes in the aftermath of a summer that’s reportedly been tough for her family due to the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. While Clarkson hasn’t discussed her ex’s death on air, one of her colleagues just mentioned how she and others have been through “a lot” as of late. He also weighed in on how the host balances her lighthearted show with tragic subject matter.

On the season premiere of her talk show, Kelly Clarkson acknowledged the floods that sadly impacted parts of Texas this past summer. Clarkson, who’s a Texas native, took the time to acknowledge the first responders who rescued over 900 children during the ordeal. Clarkson herself became teary-eyed while discussing the situation and, during an interview with USA Today, her show’s music director, Jason Halbert confirmed it was “emotional for all of [them].” From there, Halbert praised, Clarkson for being able to shift gears amid the taping:

While hosts are typically called upon to have a considerable amount of lively and positive energy, there are times at which they must be solemn during the same broadcasts. In terms of Kelly Clarkson specifically, she can pay tribute to those in need or experiencing hardship before seamlessly making jokes with a guest or belting out fun Kellyoke covers. As for those songs, Halpert also had this to say:

On the surface, the music lead seems to be referring to the personal matters Clarkson has been dealing with as of late. Brandon Blackstock died in August following a battle with cancer following months of reports about his health. Clarkson – who tapes her show in New York – was reportedly taking her and Blackstock’s two kids back and forth between NYC and his residence in Montana to see him. In hindsight, those trips explained why Clarkson missed show tapings earlier this year.

Even though Kelly Clarkson hasn’t discussed her former husband’s passing on the show, as of this writing, it has seemingly been alluded to. A recent episode of the series featured singer and American Idol judge Lionel Richie, who spoke to Clarkson about grief. That’s also a relatively heavy topic for a mostly easy-going show like Clarkson’s yet, as showrunner Alex Duda explained to USA Today, such a deft balance in material has always been par for the course with this particular talk show:

Unfortunately, tragedies are part of life and, in many cases, they warrant acknowledgement. Times are indeed challenging for many people right now, so it’s appreciated that a star like Kelly Clarkson provides comfort through entertainment while also acknowledging difficult subject matter. Brandon Blackstock was reportedly sick for years, but Kelly Clarkson protected his privacy, even when his health took a turn for the worse and rumors spread about why she was missing tapings of The Kelly Clarkson Show and canceling shows on her Las Vegas residency.

It’s undoubtedly been a tough time for Kelly Clarkson, as well as for 11-year-old River Rose and 9-year-old Remy. I’m glad to hear that she was able to connect with some of Lionel Richie’s words in this time of healing for her.

Insiders have claimed that the 43-year-old singer and media personality is strongly considering walking away from her daytime series after her contract with NBC expires in 2026. Such claims have not been substantiated by Clarkson herself. This speculation persists months after the Grammy winner missed multiple tapings of her show and, now, an insider has claims regarding Clarkson’s feelings following those absences.

It was in March that The Kelly Clarkson Show was without its host for nearly two weeks. At the time, it said that Clarkson had to step away for a “private matter.” Since then, sources have alleged that the singer’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was ill and that she took their two children to visit him. Months ago, it was reported that there were behind-the-scenes issues at Clarkson’s show and that she was having a hard time balancing her extensive schedule. Clarkson even spoke about her professional obligations while she performed on stage at Hard Rock Live earlier this month.

The host and singer also drew attention because she missed a number of tapings throughout March and April of this year. While the exact reasons for her absences were not confirmed, it was alleged that she had to step away in order to take her children to see her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. There’s no telling whether Kotb and the titular host might clear the air in regard to the rumors swirling around both of them.

For now, Kelly Clarkson remains the host of her show and is contracted to remain with NBC until 2026, which is when the deal expires. The Sun reports that about 70 percent of seats remain open for Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency, which kicks off July Fourth.

I’m not sure that’s good news if she wants to end her talk show and focus more on family and music again. Rumors have spread that NBC is already preparing for that to happen, though, and Hoda Kotb’s name has been floated as a possible replacement.

The newest rumor regarding the oh-so-relatable Kelly Clarkson potentially not renewing her contract when it expires next year suggests that another woman very familiar to NBC audiences could take over the coveted timeslot — none other than Hoda Kotb. According to a source for the New York Post:

Hoda Kotb shocked fans by leaving The Today Show earlier this year, saying she wanted to spend more time with her two young daughters. Being able to focus more on her own two children is allegedly one of the reasons Kelly Clarkson might be looking to leave daytime TV; however, the schedule might be one that Kotb finds much more accommodating than what she was used to on the NBC morning show.

While I’m sure NBCUniversal would be thrilled to have Hoda Kotb back, I would imagine their preference would be to keep Kelly Clarkson from leaving in the first place. In its five completed seasons, The Kelly Clarkson Show has racked up 22 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Clarkson winning for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host four out of those five seasons. The network was even willing to move the show from Los Angeles to New York for Clarkson in 2023.

However, rumors started swirling when the host missed several episodes in March and April, giving no explanation for why Simu Liu and other celebs were stepping in for her. The absences were later reported to be due to a “family emergency,”

Whether or not there is something going on in her personal life that requires more focus is unknown, but we do know that Kelly Clarkson has other projects in the works. She’s got a residency scheduled at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with dates in July, August and November, and in June she will release a new album — which will include a song inspired by Only Murders in the Building.

In fact the insider suggested the future of The Kelly Clarkson Show could hinge on the success (or lack thereof) of that album, as they said:

The silence has left the door open for rumors to creep in, and one NewsNation source (via Taste of Country) alleged that Brandon Blackstock has been ill, saying:

Kelly Clarkson shares two children with Brandon Blackstock, so despite their contentious divorce that inspired the breakup album chemistry, of course, she’d still be affected by any health concerns he would have. There is no other report to substantiate this claim, though, so it’s all speculation.

There have also been rumblings that there are problems behind the scenes of The Kelly Clarkson Show, with the host possibly wanting to walk away at the end of her contract next year. Sources said producing the show is “grueling” and that the Texas native wants to spend more time down South and focus on her kids.

Either way, it looks like she will be spending more time outside of NYC, as she’s scheduled to perform two concerts in Atlantic City, New Jersey, next month and then head back West for Studio Sessions: The Las Vegas Residency, where she’ll headline shows at Caesars Palace from July 4 to August 16, then again the week of November 7 to 15.

During the Q&A segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, an audience member inquired about the star's craziest fan stories, and Kelly delivered, sharing a hilarious anecdote about a poorly timed bathroom run-in when she really had to go.

Considering that, I’d say the Grammy winner handled that boob-related situation like a pro, and it also sounds like she did the best she could with the skirt, given the circumstances. For me, it’s also crazy to think that the scenario managed to top Katy Perry’s.

How Did Katy Perry’s Wardrobe Issue Play Out On American Idol?

While Katy Perry has since exited Idol, she had a number of notable moments on the show that are still hard to forget. One of them occurred during Season 20, when Perry broke out into an impromptu performance of her hit song “Teenage Dream.” While bending down, she split the back of her red, leather pants. Fellow judge Luke Bryan and others quickly provided assistance by supplying some yellow tape. Check out the televised moment down below:

That may indeed be one of the cringiest situations to ever play out on American Idol (which is streamable with a Disney+ subscription). It’s also a bit ironic that such a faux pas would occur while the songstress is performing a song that contains lyrics about “skin-tight jeans.” Nevertheless, she seemed to handle the situation in stride, and she and Luke Bryan had a fun exchange about it on social media after the fact.

Wardrobe malfunctions definitely vary and, as a result, stars handle them in a myriad of ways. There are actually plenty of singers that handle them with extreme care and grace. In 2022, Jennifer Lopez went viral when a hole formed in her bodysuit mid-performance, and she kept singing. Also, in 2024, Taylor Swift had an issue with her in-ears that caused her to have to take off part of her dress during a concert, and a crew member ultimately assisted her. Leave it to Swift to create a sweet interactive moment like that during a show.

These clothes-related situations may not be fun, but kudos to Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and more for handling them like professionals. Also, if anything, such incidents provide Clarkson and her peers with funny anecdotes they can share later on.

Kelly Clarkson seems just as excited as the rest of us that actress Hailee Steinfeld is engaged to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Fans have been swooning over the couple since the Bumblebee star guessed the snap count on Allen’s proposal, but Clarkson may have slightly different motivations behind her love for the QB. The talk show host sent him a strongly worded message through his fiancée, and I relate to this so much.

Hailee Steinfeld was a guest on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her movie Sinners, which hits the 2025 movie calendar on April 18. The American Idol champion congratulated Steinfeld on her recent engagement and then revealed why she has such strong feelings about Josh Allen. Clarkson said:

There are reportedly complications behind the scenes, however, with Clarkson said to want to exit the show in 2026 following the close of the 2025 TV schedule.

The singer/daytime host is interested in stepping down from The Kelly Clarkson Show once her contract expires next year, according to unnamed sources cited by Page Six. The reason given is that she would like spend more time with her 10-year-old daughter River Rose and 8-year-old son Remy. An industry insider claimed that Clarkson's "number one priority is her children, and they always will be," as well as that Clarkson would "like to spend more time down South" after the "grueling" work of the show, which has been airing for the past six years.

The news comes in the wake of Kelly Clarkson missing multiple episodes due to an undisclosed personal matter, with guest hosts such as Andy Cohen and Simu Liu taking over for her, but she was back to celebrate the 1,000th episode in March.

NBC is said to want to keep Clarkson on board the network. Via Deadline at the end of 2024 when the show was renewed for Season 7 to run through the 2025-2026 TV season, it was averaging 1.2 million viewers per day. Notably, that marks an increase from the fall of 2023, and not all shows are known to actually increase the size of their audiences as they get older.

Despite this, the Page Six report alleges that "profit margins are low" due to the fact that The Kelly Clarkson Show is pricy to produce. While it seems that the future is uncertain for Clarkson staying in New York to host her series, NBC is said to want to at least keep her attached to the network to host holiday specials. She’s got quite the voice, something people tend to forget. Not me though. Her stint on Glee as Rachel’s sexy, intimidating NYADA dance professor was iconic, and boy did she showcase her vocal range.

She even put out her first studio album Glorious last year. The Deepwater Horizon star performed a single dedicated to her mother, Overboard actress Goldie Hawn, during The Voice finale. During Hudson’s recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Voice coach talked to her guest all about her songwriting process, saying she loved the track “Not Easy To Know.” Listen, Kate Hudson’s got a set of pipes on her. But as with any artist, I hope for her sake the “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer never covers it in Kellyoke. She’s just too good.

I personally think the Mother’s Day actress deserves a second go at “Throw Me A Line,” so I hope to see her back on The Kelly Clarkson Show real soon. And now that it’s on my mind, I would love to see the two female singers do some Kellyoke together. Maybe a mash-up of “You’re So Vain” and “Mr. Know It All”? Or a new rendition of "Tiny Dancer"? I’ll leave it to the professionals to figure that out.

While she’s expected to return for tapings on March 13, it’s been said that Clarkson has been MIA because of a personal matter (via Deadline), though no official statement on her absences has been given. So, after all of the success and projects, it’s not surprising, that she forgot who was crowned after her on Idol, and you can see the moment she let that information slip.

The Kelly Clarkson Show recently hosted Idol alum Clay Aiken, who chatted about his new Christmas album. Aiken and Clarkson, of course, jumped into talk about old times, including Idol Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard. That’s when Clarkson sheepishly realized her error, as she squared up to the camera and apologized to Studdard immediately but had a good laugh about it, stating “Look, I’m 42.” You can check out the full exchange on the talk show:

That's definitely a little awkward, but there doesn't seem to be any real harm done. After all, everyone makes a mistake, and it has been some time since that second season of American Idol aired. Aside from that, the former politician confirmed to Clarkson that he and Studdard still regularly participate in projects together, with one being their recent stint on The Masked Singer (during which they cleared the air about past feuding rumors).

Kelly Clarkson still tops the rest–winners or not–as one of the most successful American Idol alums to date. Her "Kellyoke" segment has become a fan favorite on her show and continues to prove why she won Idol all those years ago. The host’s range knows no bounds, and she continues to deliver top-tier covers.

Kelly Clarkson, meanwhile, revealed that her mom had strong feelings as well about her and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce.

Ali Wong visited The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she discussed her split from Justin Hakuta. The couple were married for eight years before separating in 2022, and she filed for divorce in December 2023. Telling her mother of their decision to make the breakup official sounds like a pretty difficult conversation, as Wong recalled:

I — like Kelly Clarkson’s audience — couldn’t help but laugh at Ali Wong’s re-enactment of that mother-daughter kitchen scene, but the comedian/actress made sure to clarify that it was no laughing matter to her mom.

The request to wait until she was dead was serious, due to the stigma that divorce has carried in the past. Ali Wong said her mother simply thought it would be too embarrassing to admit her daughter’s marriage had failed.

Kelly Clarkson, however, had quite a different experience with her own mother. She explained that her mom is “very religious” and also of a generation that looked down on divorce, but in the case of Brandon Blackstock, the talk show host said:

After hearing of Ali Wong’s experience telling her mother, I can understand why the Beef star was so shocked over Kelly Clarkson’s mom’s support.

The American Idol champion is in a good place post-divorce since moving to New York, but it was a long and painful road before Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock finally reached a settlement. The divorce proceedings were full of contention surrounding custody of their two children, financial support and division of property.

Ali Wong and Justin Hakuta also share two children, but it seems their split was more amicable, and Wong even shouted out her ex during her Golden Globes speech earlier this year, after kissing current beau Bill Hader just moments before.

It’s pretty common knowledge that it can be hard for celebrities to maintain their privacy. As a new season of the singer's talk show is set to premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, a clip was released from the August 27 episode that features Carol Burnett and Kristen Wiig. During the Q&A segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, an audience member inquired about the celebs' craziest fan encounters, and Kelly Clarkson came through with a doozy. The host said:

The “Since U Been Gone” singer was laughing — in hindsight, not at the time — because man, that is not just a bold move, it’s pretty rude. Talk about backing someone into a corner! I really have to wonder how much that woman told people when she relayed the story of getting Kelly Clarkson’s autograph.

After Kristen Wiig joked that Kelly Clarkson was at least in a position where she had a few free minutes to go ahead and put her signature down, the American Idol champion confirmed that she did, in fact, give the autograph. That just sounds like the most awkward situation ever.

Carol Burnett’s strangest fan interaction was pretty similar, as she recalled a little girl sticking her head underneath the stall to ask, “Are you Carol Burnett?” At least that was a child, Kelly Clarkson reasoned, but still. Yikes! Through the laughter, the Emmy-winning talk show host chastised fans, exclaiming:

Kelly Clarkson and Carol Burnett are not the only celebrities to have found themselves in less-than-desirable restroom situations over the years. Doctor Who’s David Tennant has spoken about being asked for his autograph while in the shower at the gym. That’s just unreasonable, because in addition to being a huge invasion of privacy, the autograph would get all wet.

The Boys actor Giancarlo Esposito told of an amusing but no-less-awkward situation, where he accidentally intimidated a fan in line for the airplane bathroom. Apparently they were just that scared of his Breaking Bad character Gus Fring (and I have to agree, I’d ALWAYS let Gus Fring cut in line for the bathroom).

I am sorry that Kelly Clarkson had to go through something as hilariously awkward as having paper and pen wordlessly slid under her bathroom stall while she was going No. 2, but I am not sorry about the laughs that her retelling gave me.

Now, those Kellyoke covers are finally being released, however, the fanbase was quick to note how upset they are about where you can get the songs.

One of the best aspects of The Kelly Clarkson Show is Kellyoke and getting a mini-concert that includes your favorite songs sung by the pop singer herself. Just when you thought Kellyoke covers could only be heard on the NBC series or via YouTube clips, Clarkson tweeted the new location for her covers:

There you have it. Kellyoke covers will now be heard on Kelly Clarkson’s new SiriusXM channel, Clarkson Connection. Launched in November 2023, the “Breakaway” singer uses this radio platform to play favorite tracks from other musicians that have inspired her as well as stories of her own best songs.

While the Kellyoke release news may be music to the ears of SiriusXM subscribers, non-subscribers to the radio broadcasting company aren’t exactly happy about this. @JaviHA92 had a better idea for where the Kellyoke covers should be, posting:

I can understand the need for the best Kellyoke covers to be heard on Spotify. After all, a February Forbes report said Spotify got 10 million paid subscribers last quarter contributing to a total of 236 million. SiriusXM actually reported a loss of 94,000 radio subscribers. Even though Spotify is the more popular streaming platform, it makes sense for her songs to end up on her own SiriusXM station.

However, fans are still upset, as @thatssodavid_ posted about another obstacle the songs' location presents:

According to SiriusXM’s official website, the radio streaming service is only available in the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Canada through SiriusXM Canada Inc. So, that would mean fans outside of those countries would miss out on hearing remastered hits of possible songs like her Katy Perry cover of “Wide Awake”, her version of Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You.” or her many Miley Cyrus covers.

@AlishaE51871958 gave a mixed reaction to the Kellyoke release news too, writing:

It’s absolutely awesome news for SiriusXM fans who can take in the sweet notes Kelly Clarkson delivers on her covers. Plus, it's nice that the Kellyokes finally have their own home after all these years of only existing on the talk show. Unfortunately, though, that also means a bunch of Clarkson’s fans will be missing out if they don’t subscribe to her radio station.

After the “Stronger” singer posted the same news on Instagram, @marcoasxd commented on it with the same dire request that X users had:

It’s a shame some kind of deal can’t be worked out where the Clarkson Connection was also available on Spotify. After all, there are so many Spotify podcasts with millions of hits that can benefit well from the music streaming service too. Instagram user @lisajefferysphotography had an obvious answer for what non-SiriusXM subscribers should do to get their hands on these new songs:

While the news of Kelly Clarkson’s Kellyoke covers going to SiriusXM may be upsetting to her fanbase, at least satellite radio streaming subscribers will have the chance to listen to these remastered covers. It is, after all, better than them not getting released at all.

Despite the fact that Kelly Clarkson has a real tardiness problem, there are likely few music or daytime talk show fans who wouldn't wait to see the star do things like open up about what weight gain means in Hollywood, go day drinking with Seth Meyers or even admit to peeing in the shower. But, one thing that people really enjoy is listening to her renditions of songs that others have made famous during Kellyoke performances on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Apparently, though, she got called out by Miley Cyrus while attending the Grammy Awards, and revealed:

As a dutiful singer/songwriter Clarkson always chooses great music to cover and gives props to the artist who originally performed her Kellyoke songs, so I doubt that the safety pin dress-wearing Grammy winner has any real problems with the talk show host covering her famous tunes. In fact, if anything, it just opens a new avenue for potential fans to discover Cyrus’ music.

Although, there is the possibility that the “Flowers” songstress was joking about the idea that she’s starting to get a bit worried that Clarkson is singing her songs better than she ever could, which is what happened recently when Katy Perry responded after Clarkson covered her hit, “Wide Awake” to an extremely impressive degree. It’s why she won the first season of American Idol all those years ago and has been able to release numerous beloved, award-winning hits since then. Hell, it’s also why superstar country singer Keith Urban asked if Clarkson would be willing to “take requests” after she covered “Somebody Like You” on her show.
