Prime Video’s Jack Ryan franchise is back in the form of a feature film, Ghost War. The 2026 movie schedule entry sees John Krasinski reprising his role as Ryan and taking on a rogue operative with help from his allies. Andrew Bernstein directed the movie after having helmed several episodes of the TV series on which it's based. While speaking to CinemaBlend, Bernstein expressed his desire to build on Ryan’s world, but he also wants to do more with a key supporting character, which gives me an idea.

Andrew Bernstein Reveals The Jack Ryan Character He Wants To Work With More

While Krasinski’s Jack is at the forefront of this IP, there are definitely characters who could headline their own films or shows. A series centered around Michael Kelly’s Mike November, for example, could be a lot of fun. Bernstein seems to have great affection for the characters, as that’s the vibe I got when I spoke to him in promotion of Ghost War. After sharing that he would “love to continue” with the series, Bernstein specifically named a certain fictional government official he’d love to see more of:

Throughout all four seasons of the Tom Clancy show, the great Wendell Pierce plays James “Jim” Greer, who initially has a rocky relationship with Ryan and eventually becomes his close friend and confidant. Pierce plays Greer with great gravitas and imbues the character with dry wit as well. As a fan of Pierce and his character, I’d love to see Greer not only return but also take center stage in his project. I also have what I think is a sweet idea for a story.

What Could A Jim Greer-Centric Movie Or TV Show Look Like?

At the start of Ghost War, Jim is still the deputy director of the CIA under Director Elizabeth Wright (Betty Gabriel). Sadly, though, Wright is killed due to a car bomb planted by ex-Starling operative Liam Crown (Max Beesly), and Greer succeeds her as director (with Ryan as his deputy). Any further projects involving Greer could highlight his work within his new post and, with that, I’d love a movie in which he heads overseas for what he believes will be a simple diplomatic mission, only for a terroristic threat to arise.

What’s more, why not have Jim’s ex-wife, Jasmine, and their two kids, Monique and J.J., in the mix as well? In the series, Jim tried to re-establish a civil kind of familial dynamic amongst all of them. So it’d be great to see Jim take them on the trip, with the expectation that it could be a way for them to build a strong (if not unconventional) family unit. And, of course, when everything hits the fan, the quartet is forced to lean on each other throughout the dangerous situation.

There’s certainly a lot that can be done with the Jack Ryan franchise, including John Krasinski’s idea for a Without Remorse crossover. Still, I think a Jim Greer-centered project would be the perfect addition to the mythos. Considering the character’s dynamic nature, Wendell Pierce’s perfect portrayal, and the ripe storytelling possibilities, it makes a lot of sense to highlight Greer in greater ways. So here’s hoping Andrew Bernstein gets his wish for more of Jim.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War sees John Krasinski return as the titular protagonist, who must face his most dangerous mission yet. Jack – with help from his allies – faces off with a rogue former black ops agent out for revenge against Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce). What plays out is a dangerous game that ultimately leads to the death of one of Ryan’s key allies. CinemaBlend recently spoke to Krasinski – who also co-wrote the film – and he shed light on why that character had to die.

During the film, Jack and co. pursue Liam Crown (Max Beesly), an ex-member of the since-dissolved Starling team, and he seeks to convince Greer (a co-founder of that team) to reform the brutal group. The mission to stop Crown eventually takes Jack, Greer and CIA director Elizabth Wright (Betty Gabriel) to London, where Crown is apparently planning to bomb Tower Bridge. However, in a tragic turn of events, the supposed bridge bombing proves to be a diversion, and Crowne actually detonates a car bomb that kills Wright.

Krasinski penned the script for his 2026 movie schedule entry alongside Aaron Rabin, who also wrote episodes of the Jack Ryan TV series. When I asked Krasinski about the decision to kill Wright, he had quite a few thoughts to share. All in all, he mentioned a few key reasons when explaining the importance of Elizabeth’s death:

Based on his comments the A Quiet Place helmer really wanted high stakes to be present within the story. Killing off the director of the CIA is definitely a way for Krasinski and Rabin to say, “We mean business.” Plus, Krasinski makes a good point in that some of the greatest political thrillers to ever grace the silver screen feature tragic deaths. I’d be lying if I said Wright’s death didn’t sting, considering her character’s key roles in the third and fourth seasons of the show. Even Krasinski admitted to the creative decision being tough:

As far as the future of the Jack Ryan franchise goes, it seems this explosive new movie won’t mark the end of the road for Ryan. The film ends with Ryan being named deputy director of the CIA alongside the newly promoted Greer. Specific plans haven’t been announced at this point though, at the very least, Krasinski also told me about his desire for a Tom Clancy crossover that would see Jack Ryan crossing paths with Michael B. Jordan’s John Kelly from Without Remorse. (So Krasinski may need to stick to that pilates-infused workout routine.)

Of course, watching Ryan’s further adventures will be somewhat bittersweet due to Wright’s absence. The main source of comfort I can find narrative-wise is that in whatever threats they face moving forward, Ryan and Greer may indeed look to Elizabeth’s example now that they’re running the CIA. Apart from that, I’ll also hold out hope that Betty Gabriel and John Krasinski do indeed work together in some way at some point down the road.

For now, though, see them share the screen in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War by streaming it with a Prime Video subscription. That streaming service membership also grants episodes to all four seasons of the show on which this film is based.

With the series finale of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan now square in the books, the future of the Clancy-verse is still a bit of a mystery. Though it was announced that a potential spinoff fronted by actor Michael Peña was in the works, details on that project are still tightly under wraps. However, should the green light be given, the MCU vet already has some ideas on which of his recent co-stars he’d love to bring along for the ride.

Speaking with Michael Peña and Louis Ozawa, during an interview that took place before the SAG-AFTRA strike, the future of Jack Ryan definitely came up in conversation. Speaking about who could be involved in the franchise's future, Peña gave CinemaBlend this list of co-stars he’d love to recruit: 

The 2023 TV schedule saw the conclusion of the John Krasinski-led series by wrapping with its titular hero walking away from clandestine service. With Peña’s character present for this moment, the next chapter of this franchise could see him taking point. At least, that’s what it felt like when watching the Jack Ryan series finale, “Proof of Concept.” 

In the final moments of the series ending episode, John Krasinski's ultimate boy scout sees his friends James Greer (Wendell Pierce), Mike November (Michael Kelly), Domingo Chavez (Michael Peña), and Elizabeth Wright (Betty Gabriel) gathered together. Before leaving, he frames them all with his hands and says "Hell of a team photo." Knowing the extended universe of Tom Clancy novels, that moment feels like a double down on these cast members being a part of what comes next. 

When Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan was announced to be ending with Season 4, it came with an added bonus of Michael Peña being cast as another legacy character from Clancy’s wide roster of heroes. In the role of Domingo “Ding” Chavez, the Ant-Man star ventured into some pretty dark territory with this potentially huge role. 

If the next chapter of Domingo's story is explored, the infrastructure is already present for a continuation series that focuses on Ding as its new main character. This is perfect, as he's connected to yet another huge thread that's been developing in the Clancy-verse.

You see, Chavez is a member of one of Tom Clancy’s most memorable brands connected to the wide web of Jack Ryan stories: Rainbow Six. That title is something that’s been danced around rather frequently in the library of anyone who has a Prime Video Subscription. This is in part thanks to the ending of Michael B. Jordan's Without Remorse which showed the creation of said organization of clandestine operatives. 

The trailer for Jack Ryan Season 4 even dropped an easter egg that connected Michael Peña’s badass operative to the organization started by Jordan’s John Clark. So the two worlds could be connected in a future project, if the powers that be have the right idea in mind. There would definitely need to be some changes though, as in the 1995 source novel Jack Ryan is president of the United States.

All sorts of possibilities are in the air, and an interview with Collider saw series EP Allyson Seeger confirm that hopes to move forward on a potential spinoff for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan are still in the air. While the flagship series has taken its final bow, this is one of those cases where the door is wide open for a continuation, with Michael Peña’s Domingo Chavez as a possible key.

Thankfully, you can see just how awesome the man they call "Ding" is in action. While the world will just have to wait and see what comes next, all four seasons of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan are now streaming on Prime Video.

The second season ended in 2019, with a Season 3 renewal coming not long after that for the action show. But what exactly is going on with the production of Season 3? And what’s going to happen next? Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 3 Will Premiere In December 2022

While it was a bit up in the air for some time in terms of when Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan would return, it’s finally been confirmed, according to Deadline, that the third season is going to come out as part of the 2022 TV premiere schedule. The show’s third instalment is set to drop all eight of its episodes on December 21st, right before Christmas.  

It’s fantastic that we finally got an answer to this, as we have been waiting to hear back about this third season for a while after the second season ended in 2019. 

John Krasinski Will Return For Season 3 Of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan

It would be pretty sad if Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan didn’t return without its main star. But don’t worry – you won’t need to be sad anytime soon. In May 2021, Deadline confirmed that John Krasinski would be returning to play the titular Jack Ryan on the Amazon original show.

After his 2021 release with A Quiet Place: Part II, and his appearance in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, John Krasinski has been on a roll with some awesome projects. I can’t wait to see him return to the spy thriller as soon as Season 3 comes out. 

Both Wendell Pierce And Michael Kelly Are Returning As Well

Also confirmed in the Deadline article talking about Season 3, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are going to be returning for the third installment of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime. 

Pierce plays James Greer, and Kelly portrays Mike November. 

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Will Add On Several New Characters In Season 3

Alongside John Krasinski as well as his castmates Pierce and Kelly, there will be plenty of new faces added onto Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan in the third season. Per the Deadline article from before, Betty Gabriel, known for her role as Georgina in the Jordan Peele horror film, Get Out, has signed on for a major role in the upcoming third season, playing Elizabeth Wright, the Chief of Station. Nina hoss is also set to play Alena Kovac in the third season.

Four others have been cast as series regulars in Season 3, which includes James Cosmo from His Dark Materials, Peter Guinness from Cursed, and Alexej Manvelov from Before We Die. Their roles are currently unknown. 

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 3 Will Have A New Showrunner

Prior to Season 3 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Carlton Cuse was the showrunner of the series, but according to Deadline, that is no longer going to be the case.

Prison Break creator, Paul Scheuring, has signed on to become the showrunner of the spy thriller series over at Amazon, while also serving as an executive producer.

It’s always fun to see new people come onto a show like Jack Ryan, and I’m eager to see what Scheuring might bring to the table in terms of a new story, new characters, and everything else in-between. 

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Will See Jack In A “Race Against Time”

Jack Ryan Season 2 ended way back in 2019, so fans can only imagine where the show might go from there with how long it’s taken for it to premiere. However, we do have an idea of where Jack Ryan might be going next – and the dangers he will learn about.

Per the Deadline article about casting, we also get a little bit of an inside look into what Season 3 will be about, where we will watch Jack Ryan in a race against time.

Ryan ends up being wrongly implicated by a giant conspiracy, and now he suddenly finds himself as a fugitive, trying to survive. As he is hunted down by two giant organizations, he must find a way to survive while in a new continent, using the safety of the underground in order to do so. 

Not for nothing, but this sounds so much more intense than the last two seasons of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan – and this is only Season 3. Can you imagine the possibilities? 

James Greer Might Take On A More Administrative Role In Season 3 Of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan

Alright, so this is a little bit more on speculation, but James Greer, Ryan’s boss in T-FAD and a former CIA station chief, might be pulling a Nick Fury and assembling a team of players for Jack Ryan to lead.

In a deleted scene that was released exclusively to ScreenRant, occurring right after the Season 2 finale, “Strongman,” we see Jack visit Greer, played by Wendell Pierce, in his office. Greer offers Jack the chance to lead a special team, one that he is assembling.

What exactly could that mean? Who is he assembling? What the heck is going on? Now, keep in mind, this was a deleted scene, so who knows for sure if this might happen, but it’s always fun to speculate and see what might come next for some of the main characters in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan – a new team of bad-asses sounds pretty fun if you ask me.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Already Has A Season 4 Planned

I bet you weren’t expecting to see this. According to Deadline, a Season 4 for the show is already happening, and that the fourth season is going to be the end of the show. 

While that is sad for long-time Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan fans, there is hope for those who like the universe, as a spinoff is already in development as well. It will feature Michael Peña in the lead role after his character is introduced in Season 4, Ding Chavez.

After such a long wait, I’m sure all of us are anxiously awaiting for the day that the third season of this show finally drops. After years of waiting, are you ready for the next story in Jack Ryan’s life? Bring on the action.  

When it was announced back in 2018 that Michael B. Jordan was joining the world of big screen Tom Clancy adaptations, the idea wasn’t that the star would make only a single film. Instead, the original deal had two titles lined up: Without Remorse would introduce his character, John Clark, née Kelly, to the cinematic canon, and then that blockbuster would be followed by a Rainbow Six movie.

So now that Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse is about to arrive on Amazon Prime Video, does that mean that Rainbow Six is on the way? That question was very much on my mind when I recently had the chance to cover the film’s virtual press day, and what I learned is that while there is definitely hunger for it from the stars, nothing is certain at this point in time.

When I spoke with Michael B. Jordan, I asked him not only about the potential future for Rainbow Six – which is teased in the movie with a post-credits scene – but also the possibility of a crossover with John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan streaming series now that both titles have homes on Amazon. Without saying too much, Jordan confirmed that I was asking the right questions, and that he has hopes for the future, but that nothing is official yet. Said the actor,

Tom Clancy published Rainbow Six in 1998 as his second novel centering on John Clark, and it follows the hero as he organizes a multinational counter-terrorism division within the Central Intelligence Agency called Rainbow. The book (which also inspired a popular series of video games) centers on the attempt to stop a bioweapon attack that would see the entire world infected by a deadly virus – though it’s unclear exactly how close a movie adaptation would stick to the source material, especially given that Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse greatly deviates from the text with which it shares a name.

One of the notable differences between the new movie and the author’s original work is the introduction of Karen Greer, a new character played by Jodie Turner-Smith who is featured as a close confidant of John Kelly’s. The end of the film definitely sets up the possibility for Karen to potentially return in a Rainbow Six sequel, and while she also said that there is nothing on the books right now, her enthusiasm was clear:

Michael B. Jordan is preparing for the release of his new action movie, Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse which is coming to Amazon Prime this month. The Black Panther and Creed star is no stranger to putting in the work for his roles, as he pushes through the training regimens required to play characters like Killmonger and Adonis Creed. This was also the case for Jordan's latest film as well, and the actor recently opened up about the "intense" training that came with prepping for the Tom Clancy adaptation.

Michael B. Jordan has already shared some insane looks at the stunts in his new movie and, now, he is sharing his experience with the preparation he went through for Without Remorse. Jordan spoke about the intensity and the number of different training methods he used for the making of his new film, telling People:

Michael B. Jordan is playing an elite navy seal in Without Remorse, and it seems like his training was designed to cover every base of combat needed to portray such a character. Jordan is used to intense body transformations, from getting ripped to for Creed to beefing up even more to play Killmonger. He is used to the art of fight choreography, so he is an experienced guy when it comes to action movie performance. Without Remorse posed a new challenge for Michael B. Jordan, and he has come out the other side proud of the work he put in.

Aside from Without Remorse, Micheal B. Jordan has another challenge ahead of him. He's been announced as the director of Creed 3, and the project will mark his directorial debut. The film will also bring more changes, as Sylvester Stallone is not returning for the third installment in the Creed franchise, officially retiring Rocky Balboa -- at least for the time being. Recently, Jordan has also remarked on the future of Black Panther and the passing of Chadwick Boseman, not ruling out a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe if the story and ideas feel right. All in all, "options" is the keyword for Jordan because he has plenty of them.

Michael B. Jordan is taking great leaps in his career, and Without Remorse sounds like it's going to be the actor's greatest challenge yet. Nevertheless, it definitely sounds like he was willing and ready to roll with the punches as they came, which is what you'd expect from the actor playing the son of Apollo Creed. Audiences have seen a number of Tom Clancy films over the years, each bringing their own spin to the novels of the acclaimed author. It'll be interesting to see how this latest film stacks up to the others but, with Jordan and a number of other talented stars, it should be a great movie event!

Without Remorse premieres on Amazon Prime this Friday, April 30th.

Most Tom Clancy adaptations coming from Hollywood focus on the character Jack Ryan. The main Clancy protagonist ever since The Hunt for Red October was first published, his was the path that blazed the trail for the entirety of the Ryanverse to expand. One such character that helped those efforts early on is John Clark, who is finally getting that solo movie he’s been promised for some time. And he’s doing so with the help of actor Michael B. Jordan. Loyal readers, it is finally time to experience Without Remorse.

Based on the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, Without Remorse is the story of Clark, a Navy SEAL. After seeing his pregnant wife murdered, he seeks revenge. That quest takes John Clark into deeper waters than he’d ever suspected, with players that are seen as above his pay grade. But just as Jack Ryan was merely an analyst that could save the day, John Clark is a warrior ready to take the fight to his enemies.

Part of that fight is using his training as an elite soldier trained by the US military. But as we see in this first look at Without Remorse, the other half of this conflict is purely unconventional Tom Clancy warfare. Nowhere is this more clear than when Michael B. Jordan's protagonist traps someone who has information he needs. Said trap sees him pinning hi victim's vehicle, setting it on fire, and climbing in for a good old fashioned movie interrogation. Clark's methods are extreme to say the least

After the delays that saw Without Remorse landing a 2020 release date for theatrical debut through Paramount, the project eventually found itself strategically shifting to Prime Video. While it’s a bummer that Michael B. Jordan’s big debut as the successor to the role that once belonged to Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber won’t make it to theaters, there is a pretty big upside. The folks at Prime Video can absolutely leverage this film as a cousin of the John Krasinski led Jack Ryan TV show, which might not only boost the profile of Without Remorse, but also the Amazon series that’s still awaiting its third season.

Even after several attempts at reinventing and sustaining Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse, there’s a lot riding on the shoulders of Without Remorse. If it succeeds, it could see Michael B. Jordan stepping into another iconic franchise remastered for today, with wide reaching implications as to where future projects could go. That’s especially true if this leads to Rainbow Six’s cinematic adaptation, which was part of the original deal struck to make this film. We’ll have to just wait and see what happens when Without Remorse takes its shot at greatness on April 30th, only on Prime Video.

Tom Clancy had an impressive career with his novels getting multiple adaptations for the big and small screens. There have been a number of Hollywood stars to take up the role of his famous character Jack Ryan. But there are quite a few other bad-ass characters in the Clancy universe, and Michael B. Jordan is set to take up the helm as franchise favorite John Kelly. The Creed star is attached to star in the upcoming Tom Clancy adaptation, and will work alongside Yellowstone creators Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples, at Amazon.

In a recent interview Michael B. Jordan discussed his fandom of the Tom Clancy video game franchise in addition to his excitement for the Amazon adaptation. He spoke about the anticipated project, saying:

In his interview with Deadline, Michael B. Jordan mentioned that the upcoming Without Remorse adaptation will dig deeper into the John Kelly character that fans of the Rainbow Six video game franchise may recognize. The Black Panther star also noted that the movie will be the first ‘big splash’ that he will be making at Amazon.

Without Remorse is based on Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel by the same name. The book follows former Navy Seal John Kelly as he takes on drug dealers and is eventually enlisted to help the CIA in a POW rescue mission. The character appears in a number of Clancy novels and video games that share a fictionalized universe.

While video game movie adaptations are notoriously hard to pull off, year after year there are more movies announced based on fan favorite franchises. Even though Tom Clany is more well known for his novels, they have been the basis for a number of popular video game franchises over the years. It’s nice to see that someone who grew up with the character will be playing John Clark on the big screen.

Michael B. Jordan has been staying busy since his impressive performance as Killmonger in 2018’s Black Panther. He is reprising his role for the Marvel What if..? series on Disney + and will be returning for Creed III.

Only time will tell if Without Remorse will spawn a franchise at Amazon. The streaming giant has already had success with the Jack Ryan series starring The Office heartthrob John Krasinski.

Then, much to your bewilderment, you learn that that two of these unlikely ideas actually have some truth behind them.

Indeed, the 2020 recipient of People Magazine’s choice for the “Sexiest Man Alive” is a busy guy, and has been since he first broke into show business as a Toys ‘R Us Kid before making his official acting debut on the first season of The Sopranos in 1999. Although he would get people talking at a young age on fellow HBO crime series The Wire or the beloved NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights, it was not until he gave a stunning performance in the tragic biopic Fruitvale Station, his first collaboration with writer and director Ryan Coogler in 2013, that he began getting asked to play superheroes, supervillains, and even a fictional basketball player in the NBA 2K17 video game.

But, to dial back on those earlier inquiries, will Michael B. Jordan really be playing Eric Killmonger again in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe installment and will he also make a triumphant return to the ring as Adonis “Donnie” Johnson in Creed III? I just may have the answer to those questions and more regarding the future of this 33-year-old Emmy nominee and blockbuster hero in the following preview of nine projects he is said to have in store for the big screen and small screen alike. We shall start things off with what is looking to be one of the most exciting action films of his career yet, especially now that it has been given a confirmed release date.

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse (2021)

Following Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears, Michael B. Jordan will be the third actor to play John Clark, a Navy SEAL who exists in the same universe as CIA agent Jack Ryan, in Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse. Based on the celebrated late author’s 1993 bestseller from a screenplay by Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, the film follows a vengeful Clark, hellbent on avenging the brutal murder of his wife, but finds himself embroiled in a much larger and more sinister conspiracy in the process.

The action-packed adaptation has seen its ups and downs in development since the early ‘90s and reached its peak when Covid-19 forced Paramount to cancel the theatrical plans. Eventually, Amazon Prime would step to negotiate acquiring distribution rights and hope to release the film in 2021. However, currently, the film still has no official release date.

What If…? (2021)

When I said that there was some truth behind Michael B. Jordan reprising the villainous, yet empathetic, Erik Killmonger, that did not mean to expect to him to show up in Black Panther 2, especially with how things ended up for him in the first movie. However, Jordan does appear in the cast listing (and credited as his Black Panther character, too) for the premiere episode of the upcoming Disney+ exclusive What If…? - an animated anthology series that reinterprets notable characters and stories from the MCU in an alternate timeline.

We can only imagine what Killmonger’s role will be, but considering the life he could have had in Wakanda or even how close he came to achieving his plans for a race war, his potential What If…? scenario seems to be one especially worth looking forward to when it drops sometime in 2021.

61st Street (2021)

Not only is the Emmy-nominated star of HBO’s Fahrenheit 451 returning to the small screen as an actor in 2021, Michael B. Jordan and his company Outlier Society Productions (which he launched in 2016) are bringing a new thriller called 61st Street to AMC. The courtroom drama centers on a young, black athlete named Moses Johnson (British star of Doctor Who and Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tosin Cole), whose promising future is cut short when he becomes a victim of the infamously corrupt legal system of his hometown in the South Side of Chicago.

Jordan will executive produce the series - which will also star Emmy-winning American Crime Story and Lovecraft Country star Courtney B. Vance - with creator Peter Moffat, whose BBC hit Criminal Justice served as inspiration for HBO’s addictive crime drama The Night Of in 2016.

Creed 3 (November 23, 2022)

In addition to high-scale comic book flicks, Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler would team-up a second time after Fruitvale Station for a sports drama - particularly a reboot of the Rocky franchise from the point of view of Apollo Creed’s illegitimate son, played by Jordan. Creed became a huge critical and commercial success in 2015, earning awards recognition and a 2018 sequel that Coogler did not return to direct due to his commitment to Black Panther.

While Coogler will not be returning the for announced third installment, reports suggested that, in addition to reprising boxing star Adonis Creed, Jordan would inherit the reins himself and make Creed III his directorial debut. Co-star Tessa Thompson would confirm his place in the director's chair in December 2020. THR made the news that Jordan will direct Creed III even more official in March 2021, also announcing that the release date for the movie is set for November 23, 2022.

Methuselah (TBA)

Michael B. Jordan is slated to play the lead of Methuselah (a part originally intended for Tom Cruise), which Danny Boyle has also been tapped to director for Warner Bros. That is about all that I can say about this action thriller that is currently in pre-production - not because the plot is being kept under wraps but, more accurately, that it is apparently being reimagined as we speak from its original concept as the story of a man who lives to be nearly 1,000 years old. Given the film’s title still shares a name with a biblical figure who matches that very description, we can probably assume that the final product will not veer too far from that idea.

Untitled David O. Russell Project (TBA)

We also cannot say much about this upcoming film from Regency Pictures since, in addition to having no title at the moment, the plot actually is being kept under wraps. What we do know is that, February 2020, Michael B. Jordan reportedly joined the cast of the drama that will see Oscar-nominated filmmaker David O. Russell return to the director’s chair for the first time since he made Joy in 2015. Christian Bale, a frequent collaborator of Russell’s, and first-time collaborator Margot Robbie have also joined the cast.

Wrong Answer (TBA)

Just like how audiences are always eager to see another Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks vehicle or when Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will team-up again, the next pairing of Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler is greatly anticipated. However, instead of high-scale comic book flick, the actor and director duo’s fourth collaboration will be a fact-based drama called Wrong Answer - inspired by an article of the same written for The New Yorker by Rachel Aviv. Jordan will play Damany Lewis, the subject of Aviv’s 2014 story who was caught changing his math class students’ scores in hopes to earn extra funding for his middle school in Atlanta.

The Thomas Crown Affair (TBA)

Speaking of reboots, the classic 1968 crime thriller The Thomas Crown Affair starring Steve McQueen would later be reimagined in 1999 with James Bond star Pierce Brosnan and, in 2016, the idea of second remake was proposed to no avail. In 2019, Joe and Anthony Russo announced their plans to finally make that remake a reality with Michael B. Jordan as the titular wealthy playboy who desires to pull off the perfect heist.

The sibling directorial duo and superhero movie golden boys said during their panel at that year’s San Diego Comic Con that, as fans of both versions of the story, they were looking forward to putting their own spin on it, especially with fellow MCU alum Jordan as their leading man, whom they would then describe as “one of the great actors of his generation without question.”

Static Shock - Producing (TBA)

Michael B. Jordan and Outlier Society Productions will also be bringing other unsung superheroes outside of the Marvel lexicon to the big screen. In October, it was announced that Jordan will proudly serve as producer for a feature-length adaptation of Static Shock - a DC Comics/Milestone Media title about a high school student named Virgil Hawkins, who use his electrokinetic powers to fight evil, and also inspired a popular animated series on The CW when it was still called The WB. Seeing a young, black superhero like Static finally get a live-action cinematic adaptation is a truly exciting development in the future of DC movies, especially with Jordan involved.

To say that Michael B. Jordan's rise to worldwide fame has been fast would be an understatement. Thanks to projects like Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther and (for better or worse) Fantastic Four, Jordan has become a well-known Hollywood name, and his career definitely won't be slowing down anytime soon. If you need that reaffirmed, it's been announced that Jordan has been cast to play Tom Clancy hero John Clark in a new film series.

Jack Ryan is unquestionably Tom Clancy's most famous creation, but after leading five of his own movies between 1990 to 2014, Ryan has now migrated to the television realm and is currently being played by John Krasinski in his own Amazon series. That means it's finally time for John Clark to shine on his own, as Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has hired Michael B. Jordan to bring Clark to life in at least two movies. The first movie will be based on the 1993 novel Without Remorse and serve as an origin story for the character, and then Jordan's iteration will return for an adaptation of 1998's Rainbow Six. Akiva Goldsman, head of the Transformers universe, will be the John Clark film series' main producer, and Jordan, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are also attached to produce. Paramount is search for writers and directors to tackle Without Remorse as we speak.

Although John Clark was introduced to the printed page in 1987's The Cardinal of the Kremlin, Without Remorse detailed his backstory (namely how he joined the CIA), and since then he's become the second-most popular Tom Clancy character, appearing in 17 of the Ryanverse novels. In addition to his book appearances, Clark is also an important character in the Rainbow Six video game series. Michael B. Jordan will be the third actor to play John Clark on the big screen, succeeding Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears. Ryan Reynolds was previously in talks to play the character, but given how busy he is nowadays with Deadpool and other action-oriented projects, now the mantle has been passed to Jordan.

Given how prominent John Clark is in Tom Clancy's Ryanverse, it was only a matter of time before he struck out on his own, and now with Michael B. Jordan on board and set for at least two appearances, Ryan has the potential to rival Jack Ryan in fame. Needless to say that this also marks another impressive accomplishment for Jordan, as this is his second time leading a non-comic book-related film series, following behind the Creed movies.

The name Tom Clancy is synonymous with espionage. Over the course of his career, the late literary legend penned some of the best-selling novels of the 20th century, and his work has become one of the most well-respected action brands of all time. With such a sterling reputation backing his fictional world, it now looks like one of Clancy's most famous books will finally get the silver screen treatment it deserves. On that note, a Rainbow Six movie is reportedly now in development, with Ryan Reynolds up for a major role.

With a Rainbow Six movie now in development, the project appears to have an eye on Deadpool star (and perpetual smartass) Ryan Reynolds for a lead role. Reynolds hasn't confirmed his involvement yet, but the reports seem to suggest that he could land the part of John Clark, a career special forces operative who leads the Rainbow organization. Predominately based on the 1999 book of the same name (as well as the hit video game series) Rainbow Six centers on a crack team of soldiers sent to thwart an escalating series of terrorist attacks by a shadowy organization bent on fundamentally destroying the world order as we know it. It's a bit more serious than Reynolds' current Marvel-inspired action franchise, but that could be a refreshing change of pace.

If Ryan Reynolds does indeed step in to portray Rainbow Six's John Clark, he will be the latest in a line of actors to take on the role of the tactical badass. For starters, Willem Dafoe famously portrayed the character alongside Harrison Ford's Jack Ryan in Clear and Present Danger.

Following that portrayal, Liev Schreiber inherited the part in 2002's The Sum of All Fears alongside Ben Affleck's version of Ryan as a far darker and more violent version of the badass anti-hero. Each actor who has portrayed Clark has added something new to the persona, so we're hoping that Ryan Reynolds can potentially do the same with his take on the character.

The Deadline report about a Rainbow Six film isn't terribly surprising, because Hollywood has never really shied away from going to the Tom Clancy well for inspiration. From The Hunt for Red October to Patriot Games, and even the release of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, the iconic author's stories have become focal points of the modern espionage genre. Couple that with the fact that Amazon is already in the process of rebooting the Jack Ryan brand (with John Krasinski in the titular role) for an upcoming TV series, and a Rainbow Six film with Ryan Reynolds in the lead seems like a perfect fit.

If Rainbow Six proves successful with audiences, then it stands to reason that it could potentially open the floodgates for other, non-Jack Ryan Tom Clancy adaptations to enter the picture as well. Specifically, fans have long been teased about the possibility of adaptations of the Splinter Cell and The Division game series, and the success of Rainbow Six could provide definitive proof of concept for Paramount that audiences actually want that brand of authentic, gritty thriller.

Ubisoft has been unleashing new content all throughout the year for Rainbow Six: Siege. The game has managed to keep its player base and even extend engagement, which his unheard of for most retail releases. Well, they have a new season pass for the game and you get all new stuff for year two.

Gamespot is reporting that Rainbow Six: Siege will be receiving a "Year 2 Pass". This will be the second season pass for the game following up on what was available when gamers were able to purchase Rainbow Six: Siege a year ago.

According to the article, the second season pass will be £24.99 for the PS4, which translates to $31 in USD, and it will be £23.99 on the Xbox One, which translates into $29.99 in USD. I don't know if pricing will be varied per platform here in North America, but $29.99 sounds about right as far as season pass prices are concerned.

However, for a game that offers free maps, one would inevitably wonder what exactly will you get in the season pass for $30? Well, they plan on extending the content expectations for seasons to come. The items are listed below.

So in the season pass, you gain access to eight new "Year 2" operators in Rainbow Six: Siege, which spans the likes of four seasons. You gain access to eight headgear customizations for the operators, eight new exclusive uniform customizations, a Rainbow Six carbon charm, and 600 credits to purchase in-game content.

For those that purchase the season pass, they will automatically gain the VIP membership bonuses so long as they purchase before February 7th, 2018. It's designed to give gamers an incentive for picking up the second season pass as quickly as possible.

It will be interesting to see how the community generally takes a second season pass. In the case of games like Borderlands 2, there was so much DLC for that game that it extended beyond the season pass, and it left a lot of people angry because they were being sold the DLC pass that didn't gain them access to all the DLC. The question becomes: would people be less angry if a second season pass was made available that guaranteed them access to any remaining DLC released for the game? Gearbox Software's solution was basically to just make DLC packs available outside the season pass, so people who did buy the season pass were still forced to buy the extra DLC.

In the case of Rainbow Six: Siege, Ubisoft seems to be acknowledging that they will have a lot more content for years to come, and have upfront made it known that the second season pass will gain you access to this content. In theory, the backlash shouldn't be bad, but you can never really know until it's out there. Speaking of which, they didn't nail down a specific date when the content featured in the second season pass will launch, but the original season pass will no longer be available after today.

We’ve got even more new details for Tom Clancy’s The Division rolling in this week, including information on the game’s planned free updates and expansions that will be included in the season pass.

You can’t launch a game without a season pass these days, and Tom Clancy’s The Division is no different. As we’re learning from PC Gamer today, however, said season pass will be further bolstered by additional free updates for all players, as well as new features that will get plugged into the game in the coming months.

According to Ubisoft, a roadmap for The Division following launch has already been concocted, including three major expansions to the open-world action game. The first expansion is called Underground, and it will open up a whole new section of the map for players to explore under the streets of New York City. It would be neat if said expansion opens up a fast travel system via subway, too, but that’s only speculation as to what sort of “new features” might be coming. We would also accept a secret war against a rat-like society, but that doesn’t seem to really fit the feel of The Division.

The second big expansion will be called Survival and, according to the update, it will turn the entire city into a Dark Zone, which will open up the competitive PvP mode to the whole map.

The final expansion is the appropriately named Last Stand, though Ubisoft has kept its lips zipped as to what that bit of content will include.

If you decide to grab the season pass for The Division, it will also include some additional freebies for banking on the game nice and early. Those items include a sweet sawed-off shotgun, special outfits and weapons skins, as well as exclusive monthly events that will include things like content drops and in-game activities.

No word yet on how much the season pass for The Division will cost, but the modern norm hovers around the $20-$30 mark. That’s probably a safe expectation to tack onto the game’s standard $60 price point. If you want to go all out, though, the Gold Edition of The Division will set you back a hundred bucks, and it includes the season pass. No word yet on what other goodies are being offered to warrant that high price tag, so stay tuned for additional details.

Considering the fact that there was a period there where we weren’t sure if The Division was ever going to see the light of day, we’re excited to finally be so close to the game’s actual launch. Even better is the fact that, based on all of the early footage we’ve seen so far, the game looks like some solid fun.

With the introduction of the new year, Microsoft has announced some very special surprises for Xbox customers. Today they announced two new bundles for Xbox One titled the Xbox One Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Bundle and the Xbox One 500GB Name Your Game Bundle.

Micosoft partnered with Ubisoft to bring fans the Xbox One Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Bundle. According to Xbox Wire, The Xbox One console features “a 1 TB hard drive, a copy of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and full-game downloads of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2.” The Rainbow Six Siege bundle will be available for $399.

The second bundle to be offered by Microsoft for the new year is the Name Your Game Bundle, which features a 500GB Xbox One console and your choice of a free download from one of the leading gaming titles: Forza Motorsport 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition or Rare Replay.

The bundle will be available on January 12 for $349 in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand and the U.K. and won’t be available until late January in the U.S., Brazil and Canada.

Out of the two bundle deals mentioned, it’s hard to say which deal is better. On the one hand, you have an Xbox One with a giant hard drive, but only one series included with the console. But then the trade-off is a slightly smaller hard drive, but a wider selection for choosing what free game is included with your bundle. It’s almost like a customized “Create-your-own-bundle” deal; there really isn’t anything better than that. Upon seeing all of the great recent bundle deals, one Twitter user has some regrets.

The bundles are now available for pre-order on Amazon. PlayStation and Xbox are warring with who can provide the better holiday deals, seeing as PlayStation just announced 40 new PS3 exclusive titles that were added to PlayStation Now. Which team are you, Team PS4 or Team Xbox One?

The way that recent cinematic history would have us believing things, almost every book franchise is a successful film franchise, with the same actors returning to reprise the roles that readers love so dearly. Well, that hasn’t been the case at all for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels, which have been adapted into five movies with four different actors playing the lead role. Get ready to see actor number 5 getting the part, but this time on the small screen, as Tom Clancy’s novels are getting the TV treatment.

You might not believe the names that are putting this thing together, either. First, it’s being produced by Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes and Paramount TV, as part of an overall deal between the two. Second, it’s being developed and written by former Lost showrunner and Bates Motel creator Carlton Cuse and former Lost writer and current The Returned writer Graham Roland. That’s quite a team, and apparently there’s a bidding war amongst outlets to try and secure the rights.

Jack Ryan has appeared in 12 of Clancy’s novels, but it still comes with no surprise that this new TV series won’t be a direct adaptation of any of those novels specifically, according to Deadline. The idea that Cuse and Roland have for their project will be firmly inspired by the novel series, but they’re taking on Jack Ryan when he’s already an accomplished CIA analyst and operative, possibly bypassing his early history as an investment broker-turned-military man. Though it’s obvious that they could incorporate flashbacks into the story wherever they’re needed, and possibly flash-forwards if they want to alert viewers to Ryan’s eventual successes in Washington D.C.

When you consider the caliber of actors that have taken on the role of Jack Ryan in the movies, it seems like the creative team behind the TV series will be reaching out to some acclaimed stars to take on the TV role. First played by Alec Baldwin in John McTiernan’s stellar The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford took over the role for Phillip Noyce’s Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Ben Affleck became Jack Ryan for Phil Alden Robinson’s The Sum of All Fears, and Chris Pine was the latest of Hollywood’s elite to fill the part for Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Considering how disappointing that latter film was, it’s no surprise they’re making such a drastic change to this next project.

Should this get ordered to series, it would become Cuse’s fifth series on the air, as he’s already got Bates, FX’s The Strain, The Returned and USA’s upcoming The Colony. Roland, who works with Cuse on The Returned, also wrote for Fringe and Almost Human, as well as the upcoming feature film Mile 22.

Based on the character at the center of a barrage of Tom Clancy books, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit stars Star Trek Into Darkness's Chris Pine as the titular covert CIA analyst charged with putting a stop to a devious Russian plot to devastate the U.S. economy. Appearing opposite Pine are Anna Karenina's Keira Knightley as Jack's wife Cathy, Man of Steel's Kevin Costner as his handler William Harper, and Thor director Kenneth Branagh, who aside from playing growling Russian Viktor Cherevin also helms this feature. You can see each of them in action above, and be sure to note the English ingénue's nifty American accent and the weird way Costner says the word "anonymous."

Before Shadow Recruit, Jack Ryan has previously appeared in four other feature films, played by three other actors. The first was Alec Baldwin in 1990's The Hunt for Red October. 1992 brought the Harrison Ford-fronted Patriot Games, which was followed up by 1994's Clear and Present Danger, in which Harrison also starred. Lastly, in 2002 Ben Affleck headlined The Sum of All Fears opposite Morgan Freeman. As you might have guessed by comparing these stars against Pine, Shadow Recruit is set earlier in the CIA agent's career than most of the films above.

The trailer up top teases plenty of intrigue and some in-your-face, helicopter-exploding action. But even with its star-studded cast will Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit be able to compete against the very crowded release date of Christmas Day? December 20th will bring the openings of such buzzed about features as the outrageous comedy Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, the George Clooney historical thriller The Monuments Men, Disney's biopic Saving Mr. Banks and Spike Jonze's Her, which recently won rave reviews at the New York Film Festival. But that's not all. By December 27th, the Ben Stiller-directed Secret Life of Walter Mitty will debut theatrically alongside the long-awaited 47 Ronin, the Robert De Niro/ Sylvester Stallone sports comedy Grudge Match, and August: Osage County, a drama absolutely stuffed to the brim with stars from Meryl Streep to Julia Roberts and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Basically, there's plenty of fierce competition, but Paramount Pictures' placement of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in this pack suggests they are confident of the product and its appeal. And maybe they should be. After all, Branagh's last directorial effort took in an astounding $449 million worldwide. Of course, it was Thor, and so had the power of the pre-existing Marvel franchise behind it. Still, credit should be given in part to Branagh's skill for balancing drama and action. But what do you think?

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opens December 25th, 2013.

It it's with great sadness that we share reports that author Tom Clancy has died. It sounds like this news is unconfirmed -- officially anyway -- but multiple sites are reporting the news that the author has died at the age of 66. Clancy's biggest claim to fame is the surely the Jack Ryan series of novels, a number of which have been adapted to film over the years, with numerous A-list stars portraying the character, Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford among them.

At this point, Clancy's website is barely loading, which is unsurprising given the reports, but from what I can tell there's been no official update posted there. However, Deadline says reports are coming in that the bestselling author has died. There's no mention of how, however I expect we'll be hearing more updates and details as information comes in. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to Clancy's friends and family in their time of loss.

UPDATE: NY Times says Clancy died in a hospital in Baltimore today. No cause of death provided yet.

From a fan perspective, I doubt I'm alone in not looking forward to having to call my father and break this news to him, as he was a big fan of Clancy's work -- particularly in the 90s -- which included a number of post-Cold War espionage thrillers. The author's biggest hits include The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears, all of which were adapted to film, with Alec Baldwin playing Jack Ryan in Red October, Harrison Ford assuming the role in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, and Ben Affleck inheriting it for The Sum of All Fears. Star Trek star Chris Pine is set to take over the iconic role for Jack Ryan, which is due out this Christmas.

Between books, video games and movies, it seems Clancy has stayed active in recent years, as has his character Jack Ryan, who has appeared in Clancy's recent novels. The author published Threat Vector just last year, and there's a new Jack Ryan book due out later this year called Command Authority, which Clancy co-wrote with Mark Greaney.

Given his many publications, as well as the films and video games they inspired, there's no doubt that Clancy has left his mark on the industry. He won't soon be forgotten.

Ubisoft Shanghai is developing a follow-up to real-time tactics game Tom Clancy's EndWar. EndWar Online is a free-to-play MMO that will be available through web browsers.

Tom Clancy's EndWar Online is set in the aftermath of World War 3. The major factions who waged the war are short of resources and money and find themselves on the brink of collapse. In this chaos, rogue warlords now control much of the world. The players take on the role of one of the last leaders of Europe or Russia and then try to rebuild their homelands. The third faction, the United States, will be introduced after the beta concludes.

EndWar Online is played through a Flash plug-in. As such, it should be playable on a wide range of computers. Both PC and Mac systems will be supported.

Players can sharpen their skills through a single-player campaign. There are ten chapters to the campaign, each with five missions. Through these missions they'll learn how to run their headquarter's economy, research and diplomacy. Additionally, they'll gain experience in managing the game's 10 unit types, which range from tanks to gunships to turrets. Players will also gain access to over 80 hero units that can level up and acquire new abilities.

Once you feel comfortable with the game, you can start challenging other players. Ubisoft was sort of vague in describing the battles but say they'll be "frantic three minute sessions tailored for browser play." As a result, there's a minimum of micromanagement.

The player-versus-player side of the game also has a wider metagame called Theater of War. In Theater of War, the two (and eventually three) factions will battle for control of territories across the world. Each faction's performance will presumably affect its individual players' strength in some way.

Like many free-to-play games, EndWar Online also offers optional microtransactions. Players can buy gold with real-world money in order to acquire convenience or cosmetic items. This gold can also supplement the resources you've acquired to build up your HQ. Ubisoft points out that all content in the game is available regardless of how much money you spend, though.

EndWar Online is currently in closed beta. If you're interested in testing the game, you can register at EndWarOnline.com. Ubisoft intends to have a Founders program to allow players to pay for guaranteed beta access along with other exclusive items. Exact details on the three Founder Packs will be announced at a later date.

Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie penned and directed the upcoming Jack Reacher, an adaptation of Lee Childs’ bestseller One Shot that casts Tom Cruise as the title character. It is believed that Reacher could be the first in a series of films structured around the no-nonsense action hero, and Paramount’s so happy with the work McQuarrie did that they are dangling yet another potential franchise in front of his eyes.

According to Deadline, Paramount has hired McQuarrie to adapt Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse as a potential feature film. The studio’s also contemplating McQuarrie as the film’s director. Remorse almost made its way to the big screen multiple times, though the story – a spinoff from Clancy’s Jack Ryan series – has bets been described as bleak, violent and difficult to translate into a working screenplay.

At the same time, the Deadline story talks about the planned Jack Ryan reboot with Chris Pine in the lead, and the potential to possibly connect the two movies into a sprawling series of films (Avengers style) if McQuarrie’s able to crack the narrative code.

If anyone’s capable of doing it, it’s McQuarrie. Even if he never worked another day in his life, he’d forever be remembered as the screenwriter of The Usual Suspects. That’s a pretty awesome accomplishment to post on your tombstone. But McQuarrie has stayed consistently busy, contributing screenplays to The Way of the Gun (which he directed), Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie and The Tourist with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.

This new partnership with Paramount is excellent news for two literary fan bases. Clancy fans can get excited that for the first time since Harrison Ford, there’s significant movement toward expanding that character’s international environment on screen. And for Reacher fans, the deal is a vote on confidence in McQuarrie and Cruise’s work, which we’ll finally get to see when Jack Reacher opens on Dec. 21.

Only a few days after TNT canceled the Jada Pinkett Smith vehicle Hawthorne, the network has a new project in the works. This one won’t focus on lives, hospitals, or relationships. Instead, enemies will be fought and mini-battles will occur. Think: Tom Clancy novel, precisely because TNT’s new project will also be a Clancy project.

Tom Clancy’s Homeland Security is being developed for TNT by Michael Orvitz. If the project goes to series, it will be the first television credit for the former Disney President. The TV project is also rare for Clancy, who is more famous for adapting works into films, most notably with installations in the Jack Ryan series. Clancy is also set to executive produce with the man whose last name sounds dangerously close to a gum brand.

Clancy won’t be alone in scripting the plot for his project. According to THR, Tom Clancy’s Homeland Security is about a team of domestic operatives dealing with enemies both near and abroad, will also be penned by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Chris George. Regardless of my disdain for some of Clancy’s novels, I’m actually pretty excited for his TV project. Especially when Hawthorne was still in the cards, the network had a lot of female-led programming. That seems awesome, but it also could be dangerous for a network. You don’t want to skew too heavily toward one gender, lest your become Spike or Lifetime. A nice balance can go a long way.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be the first hardcore military shooter to utilize the Xbox Kinect and not just utilize it but actually have it integrated into the core gameplay. At this year’s E3, Ubisoft made a pretty big announcement confirming that all new Tom Clancy titles under the Ubisoft label will make use of Kinect.

What’s more is that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has a whole new proprietary gun engine called Gunsmith. This new feature allows gamers to easily and conveniently put together their very own weapons, right down to the firing springs. Even more than that, gamers can use Kinect to modify the weapon and test it out on the fly at the speed of voice command.

There's already one recurring Tom Clancy hero out there angling for a comeback, the indefatigable badass Jack Ryan, who will be the main character in Paramount's forthcoming Moscow, starring Chris Pine. But Clancy wrote a whole ton of novels, and he's got another character lingering in the archives who seems ready for his own big-screen debut. Vulture reports that The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is now working on an adaptation of Clancy's 1993 book Without Remorse, starring John Kelly, a former Navy SEAL duking it out with the drug ring responsible for his girlfriend's death.

Though the original book is set in the 70s, apparently they're leaning toward setting the film in the present-- after all, The Wire has only made the setting of inner city Baltimore more famous since the book came out. Ryan is already a big name on his own for TV fans, having created both The Shield and FX's current series Terriers, but he'll be teaming up with two other big names to make Without Remorse happen; superstar screenwriters and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on board to produce. Of course, they're also producing a million other things, but with the Clancy connection this one seems likely to have an easier time getting out of the gate than most.

Two days ago we picked up on some rumors that George Clooney, he of the now-dead Ocean's franchise, was interested in picking up as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan character, guaranteeing himself a few high-budget sequels in the future. Turns out, that wasn't just idle talk-- Anne Thompson is reporting that Paramount is actively awaiting the first draft of a new screenplay called Untitled Tom Clancy Project. And yes, it's a Jack Ryan story.

Is anyone interested in seeing more stories along the lines of The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games? And is Clooney actually the guy to bring them to life? Perhaps the intent of the screenplay will give us some clues. If we're meeting Ryan just out of CIA training, then sorry Clooney, you'll have to fight Harrison Ford for the Indiana Jones role or something.

Flight combat game Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. shipped today for the Xbox 360 and PS3. To celebrate the launch, Ubisoft's released a short trailer full of fighter jettery goodness (screw you, it's late).

In H.A.W.X., players control a ex-Air Force pilot in the year 2012 who joins up with a Private Military Contractor to perform missions across the world. The game's story takes place between Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and EndWar, two other Tom Clancy Ubisoft titles. You'll get to fly up to 54 different military aircraft.

The PC version will be released on March 10th. A playable demo is currently available for all three versions.

The game is about to turn the tides of realtime-strategy and combat. Endwar delves gamers into an alternate time-line of events that take place in 2008 that proposes the terrifying prospect of World War III in 2020. Hands-down, this is one of the absolute coolest launch trailers, ever. Why? Because it’s all about pumping gamers’ veins with enthusiasm, intensity, and the absolute need to kick-butt the world around. The game puts players in control of an army that will change the world, one way or another. However, the real treat is the ability to play this mean-machine online. And here it is, I thought World at War was an ambitious RTS.Endwar levels-up RTS ambition, and entertainment, with a vengeance.

The game was designed from the ground-up with consoles in mind (hence, the addition of voice-commands), so it should be very interesting to see how console-gamers take to this new IP. So what will World War III be like? According to Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy EndWar it’ll be an RTS shown from a third person perspective, rather than the traditional top down view most of us are used to. I have to say this aspect makes the game slightly more interesting than the average RTS. Sorry, but the top down view of ant sized characters marching along does not inspire me to proclaim, “Wow! Great graphics you motherbitches!!”

The game pits some of the world’s superpowers against each other as you command the US Joint Strike Force, the European Enforcers Corps or the Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade either online against a friend or in the single-player campaign. My question is where is China in all of this? I was led to believe by conspiracy theorists that China would be our main rival in the next, and possibly last, World War. EndWar, you may remember, is that voice controlled game that everyone is worried about. You know, because voice controlled anything has always been so successfully implemented. But no worries because you can use traditional controls to do your part in destroying our planet.

Tom Clancy's EndWar is due in October but Xbox 360 owners are going to get a chance to try it out early. Ubisoft has now opened up registration for a three-week, private beta in late June and early July.

You can apply to the beta here. The only requirements are that you have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, a broadband Internet connection and 3 gigs of free hard drive space for the game. The beta will allow you to test three maps in one-on-one and two-on-two online matches.

EndWar is set in the near future and imagines a third World War between the US, Europe, and Russia over dwindling natural resources. It's been suggested that the storyline will link up in some fashion to other Tom Clancy games such as Splinter Cell or Rainbox Six. It will also be released on PS3, PSP, DS, and PC but there's been no word of a beta for any of those platforms yet.

I’m still not sure how well HAWX will play. It’d be nice to have a great fighter plane game to enjoy at home. Ace Combat 6 made a good entry onto consoles last year, but the story lost me early on and the early 90s style terrain graphics broke the mood on more than a few occasions. Admittedly I shouldn’t have been heading for the ground at 260 mph, but there were desperate circumstances.

Today we have a few new screenshots of the Tom Clancy air combat game, and they look like previous shots. That is to say frickin’ amazing. There’s no doubt that the team on task for HAWX has the visual chops to pull off the game. Now we can only hope the gameplay lives up to what we’re seeing.

What does a company like Ubisoft do once they own the Tom Clancy license outright? Well, first they take the warfare and shooting games the series is known for and then launches them into the air for a dogfight. After that they add in an increasingly ubiquitous “X” and offer no further explanation. The reason that Ubisoft has done this is because they can, and you have no power to stop them. Also, they’re launching a new Clancy IP entitled Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X..

So what is HAWX? According to a press release detailing the game: High Altitude Warfare. X. Perhaps when you’re fighting enemies in the stratosphere you spell “warfare” differently, like “warfarx.” In any case, this is what the new title, developed by Ubisoft’s Bucharest studio, is all about.

In the year 2012 the rules of war are changing, becoming a private business more than anything. And now that elite mercenaries are going to war for various nations, with their flagrant disregard for the law (and probable habit of smoking cigars and propping their feet on desks), things might be getting out of hand. And then you fly. A lot. Because this is the first Tom Clancy game to be set in the skies.

Ubisoft also sent along some screenshots and a few features of the game. Now, normally I don’t go in for hype. I report it with tongue firmly in cheek. But one feature is dubbed “REALISM AND AUTHENTICITY.” Such a funny phrase for a video game, and in fact it pertains to the use of over 50 real world aircrafts for you shooting pleasure. I think it means something far different. On a lark I showed my wife the screenshot that Ubisoft sent out, and when I told her it was a video game she stated, “That’s not real?!?”

Also on the plate for HAWX is something called “Enhanced Reality System.” Essentially it’s the in-game system for flying and controlling your squad in the game. Think of it as the Cross-Com of fighter pilots. And of course there’s co-op. Four-player, going through the main storyline, glorious online co-op.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. is scheduled for release in Fall 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Thursday was just an avalanche of Tom Clancy news. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was released and Ubisoft announced that it purchased the perpetual rights for all of Clancy's work. In addition, now that they don't have to pay royalties anymore, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said they're going to use the Clancy license to make a massive multiplayer online game.

"Having no fees, it's going to give us a full return, [so] we've really decided now to go for an MMO on the Clancy name, which is big," said Guillemot to Next Gen.

Guillemot added that the project was not actually in production yet and they were still uncertain as to how they would utilize the Clancy brand. "You have Splinter Cell, Sam Fisher, the Rainbow [Sixes], the GRAWs and all the other new creations we have. So this [IP acquisition] will make that [MMO] product a really big product."

Clancy's works - at least the ones that have been adapted to video games thus far - generally set around modern-day covert operations by the United States government. I can picture some sort of stealth-action MMO where players are all members of some secret agency and form small teams to go out on missions together. Ubisoft has shown itself to be pretty adept at turning Clancy's books into entertaining games in the past and they certainly have the financial muscle to embark on a project this size, so this project is something worth keeping an eye on.
