Tracy Morgan might not have been decked out in matching shirts with Taylor Swift during the NBA Finals, but he was 100% on hand to support and celebrate the New York Knicks’ wildly impressive run. The San Antonio Spurs certainly made it a challenge, but the Knicks could not be stopped, thanks in large part to Jalen Brunson, only the fourth player in NBA history to get 45 points in a close-out Finals win. And if you thought Morgan would have only calm and sensible comments to make, think again.

During the post-game festivities, speeches and press conference interviews being aired on NBA TV, Chris Haynes and John Wall sat with Morgan to get the longtime Knicks fanatic’s thoughts about the team winning its first championship in 53 years. And it started off well enough. When asked to describe his feelings watching the team from start to finish, Morgan half-interrupted the question with:

When asked a few seconds later where the "Boom" came from in this situation, after 53 years without a championship, Tracy Morgan amusingly pointed to the players for that answer, saying:

However, the interview that's currently housed on NBA TV's YouTube page has been edited to remove the part of the interview where the SNL vet delivered a signature NSFW Tracy Morgan answer that invoked some of the larger-than-life cinematic horrors that New York City has faced. As he put it:

I mean, if you're looking for a good way to express the strength of a city, it doesn't hurt to have "Killed King Kong" on that list. Granted, he was more of a mistunderstood creature than a fully malicious monster, but that's splitting ape hairs.

The fact that he then referenced kaiju mainstays Godzilla, Ghidorah and Gamera was amazing. Not just that he called them out, but that he told them they'd get squashed by the power of New York City. And then what'd be the next logical reference to make after giant Japanese monsters? The Godfather, naturally.

Not that Morgan was done. He still had another classic NYC movie franchise to bring up, while acknowledging that his MF-er comment would need to be censored for TV audiences. He continued:

• TRACY MORGAN: Bleep it out, I don't care. They had The Alien, but we had the Ghostbusters. There's something strange in the neighborhood.
• CHRIS HAYNES: Who you gonna call?
• TRACY MORGAN: Jalen Brunson! He look like he could change a pipe under my sink.

I'm not sure that I consider Alien to be 1-to-1 analagous to the Ghostbusters movies, but I can at least respect him trying to spin Victor Wembanyama's nickname into his reference-heavy comments. I'm a little more confused about why he wants Jalen Brunson changing a pipe under his sink, but that could just be me. Did his nickname switch from "Captain Clutch" to "Captain Clog" when I wasn't paying attention?

Remember when Tracy Morgan threw up on the floor of Madison Square Garden during a Knicks game? At least that didn't need to happen again in order for his home team to bring the trophy home. And now Timothee Chalamet can avoid some of the stress of being a Knicks fan, at least until next season.

For anyone who wants to see Tracy Morgan invested in other amusing sports shenanigans, his latest NBC comedy from 30 Rock co-creator Robert Carlock The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is hilarious from start to finish, and can be streamed in full via Peacock subscription.

Tracy Morgan knows the upside of being a former Saturday Night Live cast member better than most. He spent seven seasons on the NBC sketch institution, later became one of the funniest weapons on 30 Rock, and remains closely tied to the comedy world, even starring in a sitcom on the 2026 TV schedule that has been called 'catnip' for 30 Rock fans. But when he talks about what it feels like to miss the cut at SNL, the memory still sounds raw. In an interview, the funny man revealed how you know you’re “in trouble” while pitching sketches on the late-night staple.

During a Variety and CNN Actors on Actors conversation with current SNL cast member Marcello Hernández, Morgan looked back on his time at the show while also offering advice to the comedian who recently wrapped his fourth season and released his comedy special American Boy (which is available to everyone with a Netflix subscription). One of the most striking moments came when Morgan explained how quickly writing week can turn painful for an SNL cast member. As he put it:

That is a brutal little peek behind the curtain of a show that often looks like a weekly party from the outside. Viewers see the monologue, sketches, musical performances and goodnights. What they do not always see is the smaller heartbreak of spending a sleepless Tuesday night chasing an idea, only to find out by Wednesday that it may not survive the board.

Morgan’s description also makes the SNL process feel like a pressure cooker. Tuesday is when writers and cast members try to create the material that will define their week. Wednesday tells them whether those ideas have a real shot. If the sketch lands on the wrong side of the board, that can mean the difference between appearing in the episode and waving from the back during the final credits. Hernández clearly understood the feeling, adding:

Hernández is working in a very different media age than Morgan did, where sketches can explode online long after the live broadcast ends. Still, the emotional math seems pretty much the same.

The comedy veteran's larger advice to Hernández was warmer than that one harsh memory. He told him he belonged at SNL, encouraged him to use his own name at the Weekend Update desk rather than just rely on characters, and said Eddie Murphy had taught him the value of becoming known as himself. Morgan also talked about feeling culturally isolated during his own run before Lorne Michaels reminded him he had been hired because he was funny.

That mix of pain and mentorship is what makes the exchange such a fascinating read. The NBC sitcom star was not romanticizing SNL as some magical comedy factory where every good idea gets rewarded, but instead reminding Hernández that the job can break your heart but also shape you if you survive it.

Tracy Morgan is also back on TV with the hit new comedy sitcom, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. The show normally airs Monday nights on NBC at 8:30 p.m. ET. While its first season recently wrapped, all episodes are available to stream with a Peacock subscription, which is also where you can go back and watch the comedian on his seasons of Saturday Night Live.

Though the lineup of upcoming SNL guest hosts for Season 51 is dwindling, with just three more episodes to go, the show’s legacy will continue for years to come, likely with longest-running cast member Kenan Thompson leading the charge. The sketch comedy extraordinaire was one of many celebs on-hand to honor another Saturday Night Live giant, Eddie Murphy, who received 51st AFI Life Achievement Award during a gala event in Los Angeles.

During his tribute, Thompson gave credit to Murphy for blazing his trail as a 19-year-old joining SNL’s cast in 1980 and setting the precedent for others to do the same. Thompson didn’t need to break out his French accent as Jean K Jean for any false fanciness, and instead spoke from the heart (via THR), saying:

Which isn't to say that any young comedians in 2026 and beyond should be inspired to bring Gumby back as a relevant piece of comedy. But Kenan Thompson's point remains salient. Eddie Murphy's meteoric rise to fame in the 1980s remains impressive enough to be an inspiration for anyone in any career, in the sense that having heaping amounts of talent and confidence is often the winning combination.

Elsewhere, Thompson shared another reason why he's admired Murphy for so many years, pointing to how the Beverly Hills Cop vet can excel in roles beyond just the ones that put him on the map. As he put it:

As amusing as it would be to hear a 90-year-old Eddie Murphy delivering his former signature laugh, it only makes sense that he had to put that one in semi-retirement.

And sure, some of Murphy's evolving went haywire, with some projects not matching up at all with what audiences wanted from him. But he took those shots because he believed in the projects, and such disappointments led him to stretching his talents in roles for Dreamgirls, Dolemite Is My Name and more.

Someone else who praised Eddie Murphy's onscreen performances was fellow Saturday Night Live vet Tracy Morgan. Unsurprisingly, the Reggie Dinkins star pointed back to a meta moment, saying:

The line that made me laugh the most out of anything reported on, however, came from Eddie Murphy himself, who addressed his appreciation to AFI for giving him the lifetime achievement award while he's still young and dapper enough to accept it free from messing himself on the stage. As he put it oh-so-elequently:

Fans will get to see Murphy being honored when the AFI gala is available to stream via Netflix subscription later in the 2026 TV schedule. Until that happens, Saturday Night Live will return with a trio of new episodes on NBC when Olivia Rodrigo hits the stage on May 2.

Recent years have been a struggle for network TV comedies, with seemingly fewer than ever, both on the new and returning side, to compete with an endless number of streaming options. The silver lining, at least, is that the majority of the 30-minute time slots on the 2026 TV schedule are filled with top-tier efforts, from St. Denis Medical to Ghosts to — [cue Daniel Radcliffe miming a happy trombone] — The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Tracy Morgan’s latest is already among his greatest, critically speaking, and it’s thankfully gaining an attentive audience.

For those still unaware, Reggie Dinkins stars Morgan as a former athlete whose career scandalously imploded, making life more difficult for his agent and ex-wife Monica (Erika Alexander) and his luxury-loving son Carmelo (Jalyn Hall). In steps documentary filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe) to bring Reggie back to his former glory, despite having his own fall from grace (that involves a great on-screen meltdown from Radcliffe). Also, Bobby Moynihan is in the mix and is absolutely amazing.

Everyone should be watching this thing, and it looks like a lot of people are, so let’s talk about it.

Reggie Dinkins Is My Favorite Robert Carlock Co-Creation Since 30 Rock

Just to quickly champion this thing for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is another match made in comedic heaven between Tracy Morgan and 30 Rock co-creator Robert Carlock (who co-created the new NBC show with Sam Means). It's as silly and reality-skewing as everything in the creative team's filmography, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and peppers runtimes with so many jokes that pausing and rewinding can be necessary.

Even though it's the umpteenth mockumentary series to hit network TV, and though that format is inherent to the hilarity, every character immediately feels fleshed out and familiar, which allows for the jokes to fly without tons of needless set-up. Plus, any time the footage jumps back to a previous cringe-laden point in Reggie's career, it's automatic gold. If this show was only Tracy Morgan pronouncing words with five or more syllables while Erika Alexander gets increasingly frustrated, it'd still be a winner.

Reggie DInkins' Audience Numbers Are Solid

Unlike most winter debuts, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins dropped more than a month ahead of the season's official start for a prime post-NFL time slot. The ep brought in a highly impressive 5.8 million Live + Same Day viewers, with an even more impressive 1.4 demo rating with viewers aged 18-49. Also at the time, it was noted as being NBC's biggest comedy series premiere in the three years since Night Court.

Now, according to Variety, the premiere episode has racked up nearly 13 million views across delayed viewing, the time-slot repeat, and those streaming via Peacock subscription. That marks a viewership gain that surpasses 100% across the episode's first 50 days.

Naturally, the follow-up eps in the regular Monday night slots without the NFL lead-in haven't done quite as well as the premiere, but also haven't been too shabby. The premiere's repeat hit 3.8 million, with the second episode following it up with a 2.63 million viewers. That number dipped again, with the third episode bringing in 1.96 million viewers.

That said, Variety also pointed to Peacock reporting that Reggie Dinkins' second episode, "Nittany Means Big," is currently the platform's most-watched comedy episode of the 2025-2026 TV season. Which would seemingly put it somewhere over the 3-million mark. Better than the numbers for shows airing at the same time on Fox and The CW, but still trailing its direct competition, CBS' DMV, which brought in 2.89 million.

Everyone Still Needs To Keep Watching!

Despite some of those totals noted above being solid for a broadcast TV comedy, that's no reason for anyone to assume that they're going to 100% stay so high for the rest of the season. I mean, the evidence is already there that the live audience watching on Monday nights has dropped. Which is a perfectly normal pattern for nearly every TV show in existence. But the point is to keep that number from getting any lower.

It sounds like enough fans are watching on Peacock to make up for it, at least for now, but I cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to hype the bejesus out of this show to make sure NBC knows to renew it ASAP and keep Reggie Dinkins' sordid existence in our faces for as long as can be.

Over the last 50 years, Saturday Night Live has produced some of the biggest stars in the world of comedy. The original Not Ready For Primetime Players alone produced numerous movie stars. One member of that group who is often overlooked, however, is Garrett Morris. He was the only Black member of the cast when Saturday Night Live debuted, but 50 years later, he clearly understands just what kind of an impact he had on those who came after him.

In a recent conversation with People, Garrett Morris talked about his experience of being cast on Saturday Night Live originally, following a performance in the movie Cooley High, which Lorene Michaels had apparently seen at the urging of other members of the SNL cast. It led to him breaking new ground on the show, which led to him inspiring multiple generations of Black comedians that came after him. Morris said:

Garret Morris did some great work on Saturday Night Live, and he had a solid career when he left the show, but he never became a star on the level of Chevy Chase or Dan Aykroyd. It’s certainly possible that Morris himself had not previously understood the impact he had.

Morris left SNL in 1980. Eddie Murphy would then join the cast the same year. It’s not difficult to draw a line between the two comedians. Murphy would be followed by the likes of Chris Rock and Tracey Morgan. According to Morris, when he saw each of them at the SNL 50 event, they said something that made him realize what an impact he had. Morris said:

Garrett Morris has been open about the fact that being part of the Saturday Night Live cast at the beginning wasn’t easy. He has talked about the racism that he experienced, including having writers on the show who he says refused to write anything for him. Considering that, it must have been wonderful to have people who Morris clearly respects tell him how important he was to them.

It's great to see that a talent like Garrett Morris is being told what an impact he had. He paved the way for those other stars while being an incredibly funny comedian himself. Any comedy fan owes the man a great debt.

Somehow, it’s been over 13 years since we bid farewell to Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon and the rest of the TGS crew on 30 Rock, and for those who are still mourning the loss of one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, the crew is back with something new for the 2026 TV schedule. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins premiered February 23 (after a post-NFL sneak peek in January), and critics who have seen the full first season are sharing their thoughts on Tracy Morgan’s new comedy.

Reggie Dinkins apparently exists in the same universe as 30 Rock, so keep your eye out for easter eggs. Tracy Morgan stars as the titular ex-NFL star, who hires a documentary crew in hopes of rehabbing his image after a gambling scandal. The comedy comes from 30 Rock showrunner Robert Carlock and writer Sam Means, with an ensemble cast including Bobby Moynihan, Daniel Radcliffe and Erika Alexander. Those 30 Rock connections are definitely felt, according to Matt Goldberg of The Wrap, but the new series stands out by subverting expectations. The critic writes:

Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert says Tracy Morgan and his supporting cast are easy to root for and keep the laughs coming in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. Robert Carlock — showrunner of 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt — might just have another hit on his hands. Tallerico says:

Tania Hussain of Collider says the NBC series puts a fresh spin on mockumentaries, thanks to Daniel Radcliffe’s Arthur Tobin. His motivations mean the cameras filming Reggie are more of a liability to the characters than a gimmick like in other series. The critic gives it 9 out of 10 and explains:

Judy Berman of Time says co-creators Robert Carlock and Sam Means — as well as Tracy Morgan — are at the top of their game, with The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins serving as network TV’s first worthy heir to 30 Rock. What that sitcom was to Saturday Night Live, this one is to the NFL, Berman says, writing:

Belen Edwards of Mashable calls Reggie Dinkins “catnip for 30 Rock fans,” saying that Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe are a match made in comedy heaven. The lightning-fast jokes, unexpected pop culture references and cutaway gags will leave you “gasping for air” (in fact, one joke in the premiere nearly made our own Eric Eisenberg fall off of his couch). Edwards concludes:

My long experience in the field of television watching (I love my job) has taught me to always be wary when it comes to pilots – especially for comedies. It’s the unavoidable job of a debut episode to set up various characters and storylines, and when you’re handling that much exposition, it can be difficult to also properly expose the show’s comic voice and be truly funny. I’ve learned to lower my standards to a healthy extent and will hope for better if I’m keen enough on a premise and ensemble.

The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins is not a show that requires these low standards, however. After watching the premiere that is now streaming on Peacock in advance of the NBC series debut next month, I am 100 percent on board and invested. On top of having a fun plot and characters, I found myself consistently laughing from beginning to end – and one particular joke hit me so hard that I had to hit pause because I was missing too much of the show.

Tracy Morgan stars as the titular Reggie Dinkins, who is introduced as a controversial former National League Football star who was ousted from the sport after revelations that he was betting on himself for motivation. Years later, he lives in a New Jersey mansion with his best friend/former teammate (Bobby Moynihan), is engaged to a young influencer (Precious Way), and has a complicated relationship with his ex-wife/agent (Erika Alexander), with whom he has a teenage son (Jalyn Hall). As he works to try and repair his public image, he begins collaborating with a documentary filmmaker (Daniel Radcliffe) who wants to tell his story… but has a bit of baggage of his own.

Joining Netflix’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as part of the 30 Rock canon, Reggie Dinkins is created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, who each have deep ties with both shows (Carlock also being the co-creator of Kimmy Schmidt), and that history is clear in the comedy, as the material is particularly perfect for Tracy Morgan. The man has a special knack when it comes to selling a perverse blend of weird and dumb, and the aforementioned joke that rocked me and required some extra recovery time is a perfect example: in a discussion about Reggie’s questionable choices, it’s pointed out that he made the decision to purchase a very odd collectable, and I nearly fell off my couch:

For The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Tracy Morgan plays a disgraced football player by the name of – what else? – Reggie Dinkins, who wants to rehab his image after a gambling scandal that led to the downfall of the New York Jets. His approach? Recruiting an award-winning filmmaker to produce a documentary about him. The cast also includes Daniel Radcliffe, SNL's Bobby Moynihan, Erika Alexander, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall. Morgan's fellow 30 Rock vets are behind the scenes, with co-showrunner Robert Carlock co-creating Reggie Dinkins and Tina Fey credited as an executive producer.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about the new series, Tina Fey previewed the nods to one of the best sitcoms in NBC history that are on the way:

Broadcast network television isn't quite as popular nowadays as it was back in the 30 Rock era, so Reggie Dinkins might need to recruit some viewers to tune in weekly on NBC. (Then again, there will be the option of watching with a Peacock subscription next day.) Personally, I'm already crossing my fingers for "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah" to play at some point in the background of Reggie's life as an ode to 30 Rock, but Robert Carlock previewed an Easter egg that ties to Alec Baldwin's Jack Donaghy:

While timing for Tina Fey with filming Four Seasons' second season for Netflix meant that a cameo couldn't work out for Reggie Dinkins, there's still hope for other references to 30 Rock. Carlock went on to name a few ideas:

A reference to The Girly Show seems like a great nod to 30 Rock for fans of the original to enjoy without necessarily making Reggie Dinkins newcomers feel like they're missing something. Who knows? With 30 Rock available streaming both on Peacock and via a Hulu subscription, perhaps the OG sitcom will have a renaissance. As for any continuity issues with Tracy Morgan playing an entirely different character within the same TV world, co-creator Sam Means simply clarified that "Reggie just happens to look a lot like Tracy Jordan."

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will premiere on Monday, February 23 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC before shifting to its permanent time slot at 8:30 p.m. ET on Mondays the next week. While that may seem like a long wait, most of NBC's February lineup consists of broadcasting the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The opening ceremony is on February 6, and the closing ceremony takes place on February 22.

Tracy Morgan, the Saturday Night Live star and regular, has many beloved characters to his name across the large and small screens. Now, the actor has not one but two new sitcoms on the way, but he's not sweating it at all. In fact, quite the opposite, and he brought up an iconic superhero while explaining.

While both series, Paramount+'s Crutch and NBC's The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, are set for the 2025 TV schedule and beyond, Morgan opened up to TV Line about shooting them. The first of the two is called Crutch, a spinoff of CBS' The Neighborhood. It's now available with a Paramount+ subscription. Morgan is trying to keep it simple while balancing the mulit-project commitment:

I'm taking it one scene at a time. Don't be overwhelmed. I'm just doing TV. I'm not working at a warehouse lifting heavy boxes. I'm not building rockets for NASA. I'm taking it one scene at a time.

You can always count on a decent chuckle from The Last O.G. star regardless of the topic. But looking beyond the jokes, his thoughts on being present and showing up for his job, no frills, is such pro behavior. This energy is one of the many reasons why so many fans are thrilled to see Morgan heading back to television in any capacity.

He went on to explain why he’s fine with double duty on sets and how he’s equipped to handle demands he faces. The Cop Out alum largely attributed those feelings to his time at Studio 8H on SNL. In addition, he also cited his life changing limo-bus accident in 2014 and recovery as fuel for his stamina, as he said:

What a vet of the industry! Each complication he mentions would certainly scare a number of people out of Hollywood, but he's not flinching after the 2014 incident, his recovery journey, and his excellent return to comedy. I do love the only thing that does stir this Iron Man is parenting. It's all too good.

Crutch’s arrival is the perfect supplement to The Neighborhood’s ending on CBS. The comedy will feature Morgan as a widower whose adult kids move back home. His upcoming sports comedy, called The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, will be a mockumentary-style series on NBC that follows the 56-year-old as a former football player who returns to the spotlight.

Until I can tune in to both, I’m pleased that Tracy Morgan (a.k.a. Iron Man) is making big swings in comedy nowadays.

May is arguably the busiest month by way of network TV news, from all the big finales airing to the variety of high-profile cancellations to last-minute renewals. It's also the point where execs solidify dates and time slots for returning hits and debuting hopefuls arriving later in the 2025 TV schedule. One day after CBS' Fall TV plans were revealed, NBC went public with its own lineup, which includes some big news for a pair of shows in waiting, and a great update for Daniel Radcliffe's new comedy series.

Before learning everything that the Peacock network will have in store for audiences later this year, which obviously includes the previously renewed three-series One Chicago franchise, let's first dig into NBC's late-in-the-game renewals decisions.

NBC Saved Two On-The-Bubble Dramas From Cancellation

After making the call to cancel quite a few shows from its 2024-2025 schedule, in large part to account for the return of NBA on NBC, the network kept fanbases waiting until the eleventh hour to deliver a pair of stellar updates. Both Melissa Roxburgh's The Hunting Party and Zachary Quinto's Brilliant Minds have been renewed for their respective sophomore seasons. What's more, both are now set for full seasons of 18-22 episodes!

The Hunting Party, which became a bigger hit with general audiences than with critics, was a Monday-night offering in its ten-episode first year, but that'll change for Season 2. NBC is shifting the procedural crime drama over to Thursday nights as a no-brainer follow-up to the long-running pair of Law & Order series. No better night on broadcast TV for Hunting Party's twisted serial killers.

The reason why Roxburgh's show is switching nights is because Brilliant Minds, which wrapped its Monday-set first season ahead of The Hunting Party's midseason arrival, will be sticking around its previous time slot. It looks like NBC execs were happy with how the Quinto-led medical drama did in its post-Voice slot.

Daniel Radcliffe And Jimmy Fallon's New Shows, And More Extra Tidbits

Though it wasn't part of the initial Fall TV line-up, the previously announced team-up between Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliff, the comedy titled The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins has been ordered up, presumably for a midseason start. Created by 30 Rock's Robert Carlock and Sam Means, the new project stars Morgan as a former football player who is attempting to revert his downfall into disgrace and bring some shine back to his image.

Executive produced by Means, Carlock and the latter's go-to comedy partner Tina Fey, Reggie Dinkins sounds like it could be a huge hit, with Morgan likely set for an endless number of uncomfortably wreckless and morally questionable situations. Just like 30 Rock's Tracy Jordan!

Speaking of 30 Rock — the location this time, not the series — building mainstay Jimmy Fallon will be debuting a new unscripted series called On Brand with Jimmy Fallon. In the new project, the Tonight Show host will start up a high-profile marketing agency that he staffs with highly creative and competitive hopefuls who will be fighting to come out on top as what I can only assume will be called the Brand Ambassador.

Another new unscripted series coming to NBC's schedule is Surviving Earth, an eight-episode event series that will take audiences back to the cataclysmic events that led to life thriving on this planet, with cautionary lessons to be learned from past mass extinctions and other noteworthy prehistoric incidents.

Finally, NBC confirmed that St. Denis Medical, as well as the previously renewed Happy's Place, will arrive on the Fall schedule in November, where both will be used as lead-in launchpads for a pair of new comedies, with Reggie Dinkins likely being one of them.

Within the past few days, actor and comedian Tracy Morgan has been recovering from a medical incident that went viral last week. Morgan was attending a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden when he became ill and vomited on the court. He subsequently had to be wheeled out of the arena, but he’s thankfully doing better now. As it so happens, Steven Spielberg’s daughter, Destry Allyn, was present when Morgan threw up and was in proximity to him. Given that, Allyn shared lighthearted comments about the experience.

Video and photos of Tracy Morgan puking at the NBA game made the rounds this week. And, if you looked one seat over to the right in a given snapshot, you might’ve seen a young woman dressed in a black ensemble and sporting an uncomfortable expression on her face. Destry Allyn Spielberg was said person and, on her Instagram stories, she shared those aforementioned pics. In one post, she shared a photo of herself from the game during the incident, dryly captioning it with, “I had a great time.”

Aside from sharing photos, though, the 28-year-old filmmaker also sent well wishes and a message of thanks to the Cop Out alum. And I think we can all understand this sentiment:

At this point, only a handful of people can say that they’ve attended a Knicks game and saw Tracy Morgan throw up while sitting only a seat over from him. I can definitely understand how the game would be an experience that the Please Don't Feed the Children director will never forget. In all honesty, even though I wasn’t even present at the event, I don’t think I’ll ever forget seeing the photos and videos that went viral.

When Tracy Morgan shared an update on his condition, he revealed that the episode was all due to a case of food poisoning. He shared the information in a social media post the morning after the game. In addition to sharing a selfie of himself smiling from his hospital bed, Morgan also thanked MSG and the medical staff for taking care of him. He also mused that the “Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court” and humorously opined as to whether he should vomit again when playoff time arrives.

Jokes aside, I’m right with Destry Allyn Spielberg in wishing the 30 Rock cast member the best as he continues to recover. He’s had several notable health scares over the past several years, including that horrific bus limo accident from 2014, which resulted in him sustaining a brain injury and more. Nevertheless, Morgan has remained upbeat and busy and even returned to Saturday Night Live for the show’s 50th anniversary special (which is streamable with a Peacock subscription).

Tracy Morgan is also returning to TV, as he’s currently working on a pilot for NBC. Produced by his longtime friend and colleague Tina Fey, the show would see Morgan play a former athlete looking to rehabilitate his image. Joining him on this new show will be Daniel Radcliffe, Bobby Moynihan and Erika Alexander.

I can’t help but wonder whether Destry Allyn Spielberg has any plans to attend any more Knicks games before the season is over. As a fan of professional basketball myself, I hope she does, though she may just want to watch her feet while she’s sitting in her floor seats.

Tracy Morgan sparked concern amongst the public on Monday night, as he reportedly became ill while attending a New York Knicks game. While taking in the team’s match against the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden, Morgan was spotted vomiting while sitting in his courtside seat. The 56-year-old comedian was ultimately wheeled out of the arena and, after video of the ordeal went viral, fans and celebrities alike showed concern. Well, Morgan provided an update and, of course, he dropped a joke while doing so.

On Tuesday morning, Tracy Morgan posted to Instagram to share a post that’s sure to ease the concerns of his friends, family and fans. He shared a selfie from his hospital bed and, in it, the star could be seen smiling, with a Knicks case-laden phone laying on his shoulder. In his caption, Morgan explained what caused his medical episode while also sharing gratitude:

Now, this is certainly the good news we needed this morning. It’s honestly a relief to hear that the Last O.G. star is recuperating after contending with food poisoning. What makes me smile even more is that the A-lister didn’t miss a beat when weighing in on what happened during the game. Whenever the New York-based NBA team does make the playoffs, the games can usually be eventful. It’s fair to say that if Tracy Morgan actually did throw up during one of those competitions, the energy would certainly shift. In all seriousness, though, Morgan is once again proving just how funny and self-deprecating he can be even in the midst of a health setback, and I’m glad he can dwell on humor amid all this. And, in 2014, the Brooklyn native was involved in a horrific bus limo accident, which left him with broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. In recent weeks, Tracy Morgan has been quite busy making professional moves. He returned to SNL alongside other stars in February to take part in its 50th anniversary special (which is streamable with a Peacock subscription). At present, Morgan is also set to return to TV, with a sports comedy pilot that’s being developed at NBC. The show will see Morgan play a dejected former football player looking to usher himself back into the public’s good graces. Also joining Morgan on the show will be Daniel Radcliffe, Erika Alexander and Bobby Moynihan.

One of the big questions in the aftermath of the veteran actor’s health incident is arguably whether he’s planning to return to Madison Square Garden anytime soon. While he’s yet to specify any kind of plans, the stadium’s officials shared a statement with TMZ in which they said they “hope Tracy feels better soon” and they “look forward to seeing him back courtside.” So, between his positive health update and the generous sentiment from MSG, things seem to be looking up for Morgan.

Just over a month after dozens of Saturday Night Live vets returned to the late night stage for the NBC staple’s 50th anniversary, one of the show’s most outspoken stars turned heads for a completely different reason. Tracy Morgan was in a familiar mode on St. Patrick’s Day evening while attending an NBA game between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks, when he appeared to fall ill, sparking a pause in gameplay as he was wheeled out of the arena.

During the second half of the Knicks’ latest home game, Morgan was sitting courtside as is often the case, when he was seen to be looking worse for wear, leading to him seemingly vomiting onto the court floor from his seat. Video of the moment was captured and shared on TikTok, where fans shared worried thoughts about the comedy star, as seen below.

After it became clear he wasn’t feeling well, Morgan was apparently seen to by others in the arena. He was helped into a wheelchair while holding a towel against his face, and he was assisted in exiting the main part of the arena.

Some social media posts from the event also noted that Tracy Morgan also appeared to be bleeding from the nose during the ordeal, sparking more health concerns.

All things told, the game was delayed for around ten minutes during the third quarter. After Morgan was wheeled out, Madison Square Garden staffers quickly cleaned up the court around where the comic was sitting, and gameplay was able to recommence.

Knicks Star Josh Hart Shares Hopeful Message For Tracy Morgan

After the game, which the Knicks handily won 116-95, star player Josh Hart followed up his triple-double performance with the following statement about Morgan, according to AP:

A representative for Madison Square Garden also shared a statement about the SNL vet, saying:

Tracy Morgan is currently in the midst of developing a new, presumably off-the-wall comedy pilot for NBC alongside former 30 Rock cohorts Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. In the new project, he’ll play a disgraced former football player named Reggie who makes it his life mission to turn his public image around.

Morgan and Fey aren’t the only huge names attached, and they also aren’t the only sketch comedy vets and occasional Saturday Night Live guest hosts involved. Fellow SNL alum Bobby Moynihan was the latest actor to join the cast, which already includes Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, as well as Living Single and American Fiction star Erika Alexander.

Here's hoping all is well with Tracy Morgan, and that we'll be watching him yuk it up in his NBC comedy later in the 2025 TV schedule.

Tracy Morgan might be best known for his role on Tina Fey’s satirical sitcom 30 Rock (which you can stream on Hulu), but the Saturday Night Live alum and regular has dozens of other credits, including a four-year run as Tray Barker on the TBS comedy series The Last O.G. that ended in 2021. Four years later, Morgan is headed back to television, and this time, he has an unlikely co-star, Daniel Radcliffe.

Variety first broke the news of Morgan’s untitled comedy series a week ago, and now there is even more information to share. Hailing from the minds of Tina Fey and several other former 30 Rock and SNL creatives, the series will follow Reggie, a disgraced football player (Morgan) who must rehabilitate his image. While not much else is known about Morgan’s character yet, we are learning more about Radcliffe's role.

The Weird: The Al Yankovic Story star is set to play Arthur Tobin, a successful filmmaker who plans to create an immersive documentary about Reggie. To do so, Arthur moves into Reggie’s mansion.

It’s been confirmed that the untitled sports comedy will be a single-camera show; however, what remains unclear is if it will be a mockumentary like The Office or the recent hit Abbott Elementary. 30 Rock was not, but with Radcliffe playing a documentary filmmaker, it's definitely a possibility that the show will feature some mockumentary-style elements like the infamous talking-head segments.

And if that's the case, it'd feel right at home alongside NBC's similar hits like The Office, Parks and Rec and St. Denis Medical both on the network and on Peacock.

While this NBC pilot marks the first time Morgan and Radcliffe will share the stage, it’s not the former Harry Potter star’s first foray into comedy television, nor his first time working with Fey. The two first teamed up for his appearance in the interactive special Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidy: Kimmy vs the Reverend. Most recently, he's co-starred opposite Steve Buscemi in the anthology comedy TBS series Miracle Workers.

Morgan, of course, is no stranger to the world of comedic television either. Most recently, the comedy icon has recently appeared in several guest roles for Disney Plus’s The Santa Clauses and CBS’s The Neighborhood, which is set to end next year. The latter of which has landed Morgan a spin-off series where he will reprise his role as Curtis Butler, the cousin to Cedric the Entertainer’s character from the multi-cam series.

As of writing, there is no word on whether or not the untitled comedy will be ready in time to debut on the fall 2025 TV schedule. Given that the news is only about a pilot order, we might never see the finished product. But I cant imagine that anything with Morgan and Radcliffe sharing the screen would get sidelined that early. Perhaps some wizarding skills would come in handy...

When a performer says goodbye to the Saturday Night Live cast, it does not necessarily mean forever. Often, the sketch comedy TV show will invite an esteemed alum to appear in an episode either as a special guest or as a headliner, sometimes resulting in a hall-of-fame hosting gig. The following are some of our favorite times a former SNL star made a grand impression when they came back to Studio 8H.

Eddie Murphy

After leaving SNL in 1984, Eddie Murphy came back to host (actually his second time, having hosted while still on the cast in 1982) for an episode later that year, on which he debuted, arguably, his best SNL sketch, "White Like Me." After being honored at the 40th anniversary special, the Academy Award nominee came back to host a third time, resulting in one of the most acclaimed episodes of Season 45.

Ben Stiller

You might have forgotten that Ben Stiller was a cast member since he only lasted four episodes in 1989, which he acknowledged when he first came back to host in 1998 after becoming a bigger name in comedy. He would return to host again 2011 in, followed by a series of recurring appearances as Donald Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, in 2018.

Norm Macdonald

Famously, Norm Macdonald was fired from the SNL cast in 1998 for, as the NBC executives at the time claimed, not being funny. Just a year and a half later, he came back to host an episode, during which he joked in his monologue that he had not gotten any funnier but the show had gotten "really bad" since his exit.

Robert Downey Jr.

Before becoming one of the most beloved A-list actors in Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr. was one of the most heavily criticized cast members from one of the most heavily criticized seasons of SNL from 1985 to 1986. He only came back to host once in 1996, during which he proved was the supremely talented performer we know and love and, eventually, became the first former SNL cast member to win an Oscar for Oppenheimer in 2024.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus would not become a comedy icon until after her three-year stint at Studio 8H from 1982 to 1985 when she joined the Seinfeld cast as Elaine Benes. In 2006, fresh off her Emmy win for The New Adventures of Old Christine, she became the first female former SNL cast member to return as a host, which she would follow with two more gigs.

Jimmy Fallon

After a successful six years at SNL from 1998 to 2004, Jimmy Fallon would return for three hosting gigs and countless cameos. Each time the late-night TV host comes back to Studio 8H tends to be a celebrated affair, especially because there is a good chance that his friend, Justin Timberlake, will show up to participate in a new edition of "The Barry Gibb Talk Show" or some other sketch.

John Mulaney

While he was never part of the SNL cast, John Mulaney would perform a few funny segments on "Weekend Update" during his five years on the writing staff. He would later become one of the biggest names in stand-up comedy and such a beloved host that he joined the Five-Timers Club within only four years.

Dan Aykroyd

Sometimes, for a cast veteran, the key to a memorable hosting gig is to wait an exceptionally long time to come back as an SNL host, much like Dan Aykroyd did. The legendary, Canadian-American comedy star, known for sketches like “The Coneheads” and “Super Bass-o-Matic ‘76” from his tenure as a Not Ready for Primetime Player, headlined an episode in 2003, more than two decades after leaving the show.

Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman is actually one of several SNL cast members who only lasted one season but still ended up becoming a huge success in the end. Two decades after she was let go from the series, the acclaimed comedian hosted a funny episode from Season 40.

Martin Short

It is hard to believe that a performer like Martin Short was only an SNL cast member for one season but he has, luckily, continued to demonstrate his dynamic comedic talents through memorable hosting gigs. His first hosting gig from 1986 was shared with his Three Amigos co-stars, Chevy Chase and Steve Martin – the latter of which he would co-host with again in 2022.

Adam Sandler

Surprisingly, despite making a couple of cameos over the years, Adam Sandler would not host SNL until 2019, which resulted in an instant favorite episode in which he sang two memorable songs. The former "SNL Bad Boy's" first tune (including a Chris Rock appearance) was during his monologue and discussed how he was fired after four seasons in 1995 and the other was a tribute to Chris Farley.

Kate McKinnon

After 10 wonderful years at SNL, the great Kate McKinnon would return a year and a half later to host the last episode of 2023, which proved to be a very successful episode, and not just because it featured cameos by Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and her Barbie director, Greta Gerwig. Also, in Season 49, she would also come back for one more appearance as alien abduction victim Colleen Rafferty to make host Ryan Gosling laugh uncontrollably once again.

Chevy Chase

Only two weeks after his final episode as an SNL cast member, Chevy Chase made a hilarious, self-mocking cameo in the cold open as himself, performing music for tips outside of 30 Rock. He would continue to return for more cameos and eventually became the first host to join the Five-Timers Club before the idea of it had been suggested by Tom Hanks.

Billy Crystal

In a unique twist on this topic, Billy Crystal was actually meant to appear on the very first episode of SNL in 1975 but was ultimately cut for time, as depicted in the 2024 movie Saturday Night. As his notoriety increased, the comedian was asked to host twice in 1984 before being hired later that year as a cast member, during which he lit up the screen with his impersonation of Fernando Lamas and other notable characters.

Tina Fey

Having served as both "Weekend Update" host and head writer near the end of her nine-year tenure, Tina Fey was a true SNL MVP but some of her most memorable moments on the show occurred after her 2006 exit. Prior to her Five-Timers Club induction, the 30 Rock creator and star made numerous appearances as Sarah Palin that earned rave reviews.

Dana Carvey

A key element to SNL's new golden era from 1986 to 1993 was Dana Carvey and his wonderful talent for impressions, which he would continue to lend to Studio 8H in the years since his exit. The Wayne's World star is one of the most frequent returning cast members, especially in Season 50 as President Joe Biden.

David Spade

Many of David Spade's funniest quotes originate from his six years on SNL in the early-to-mid-1990s. His blunt, sarcastic, and sometimes unapologetically brutal delivery of mockery at other celebrities' expense would serve him well in his hosting gigs – the first of which included a cold open featuring Brad Pitt as his therapist.

Kristen Wiig

The final episode of SNL's 37th Season was the final episode for a few notable cast members but it ended with a grand send-off purely dedicated to Kristen Wiig's esteemed seven years, which included some hilarious quotes. It was not long before the Oscar nominee was asked to bring back her famous characters as a host and her Season 49 episode saw her induction into the Five-Timers Club.

Chris Farley

After becoming one of SNL's most esteemed icons during his five-season run and proving to be a box office draw with movies like Tommy Boy, Chris Farley was at the height of his fame when he came back to host two years after leaving. However, his October 1997 episode is now remembered more somberly because, only two months later, he would pass away from a drug overdose at the age of 33.

Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph proved herself as an all-time great during her seven years on SNL in the 2000s. She would return for multiple hosting gigs and an innumerable amount of special guest appearances, most notably as her Emmy-winning portrayal of Kamala Harris.

Pete Davidson

For his clever "Weekend Update" commentaries, fascinating personal life, and title as the youngest SNL cast member on record, Pete Davidson was one of the series' most talked about performers when he left at the end of Season 47. He was initially meant to return as a host for the following season but, due to the Writers' Strike, he instead returned for the Season 49 premiere, which featured a viral pre-filmed bit poking fun at his post-SNL career inspired by Barbie's "I'm Just Ken."

Tracy Morgan

Impersonations of the likes of Al Sharpton and Oprah Winfrey and hilarious original characters like Brian Fellow and Astronaut Jones made Tracy Morgan a force to be reckoned with during his seven years on SNL. As a result, each of the 30 Rock cast member's returns to the Studio 8H stage as a host or guest have been warm celebrations of his best moments as a cast member.

Paul Shaffer

Starting off as a member of Studio 8H's house band, Paul Shaffer later made history as the first person to drop the F-bomb on SNL during his 1979-1980 stint on the cast. Of course, he bounced back from the incident without issue and would make cameos on the show and host an episode from 1987 after being David Letterman's bandleader greatly increased his notoriety.

Damon Wayans

One of the most infamous SNL cast firings is that of Damon Wayans, who changed the nature of a character on the fly in the middle of a broadcast in 1986. The comedian would find even greater success as a member of the In Living Color cast and, in 1995, was asked to come back as a host.

Phil Hartman

It is easy to understand why some argue that Phil Hartman is the greatest SNL cast member of all time and why, just two years after his exit, he was asked to host twice in 1996. We have no doubt we would have seen more of the Emmy winner gracing the Studio 8H stage again if not for his untimely murder in 1998 at the age of 49.

Chris Rock

The first "Bad Boy of SNL" to return as a host was Chris Rock in 1996, which was three years after his departure. At that point, the comedian had found decent subsequent success by making appearances on the show's biggest competitor at the time, In Living Color.

Jason Sudeikis

While he would make several post-exit guest appearances, Jason Sudeikis' first time hosting in 2021 was eight years after he left the show, which was actually a year later than he had intended. The gig was a big moment, given his Emmy-winning success on Ted Lasso at the time and his heartfelt opening monologue celebrating his time as a writer-turned-cast member.

Will Ferrell

Despite a hiccup or two in his early days on the cast, Will Ferrell became one of the most beloved SNL cast members of the 90s and early 2000s. His many appearances since, including five hosting gigs, have resulted in some of the show's most celebrated moments in recent years.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler's impeccable skills of impersonation and arsenal of uproarious characters made her seven years on SNL a one-of-a-kind era. Her many notable appearances since include co-hosting with her friend and one-time "Weekend Update" co-anchor Tina Fey in 2015 and making cameoing as Leslie Knope alongside her fellow former Parks and Recreation cast member, Aubrey Plaza, in 2023.

Darrell Hammond

One of the all-time longest-standing SNL cast members is Darrell Hammond with 14 seasons but his time at Studio 8H would not stop there after all. In addition to making special appearances – most notably in "Celebrity Jeopardy!" sketches as Sean Connery – the actor would succeed Don Pardo as the show's announcer when Pardo passed away in 2014.

Molly Shannon

Three-time Emmy nominee Molly Shannon is the driving force behind one of the most iconic SNL characters to earn their own movie, Mary Katherine Gallagher. The misfit Catholic high school student is just one character she has brought back for her numerous appearances on the show since leaving in 2001, including two hosting gigs.

Bill Murray

After Chevy Chase left in 1976, stepping in to join the Not Ready for Primetime Players was Bill Murray, who hilariously acknowledged his struggle to make an impression on SNL early on in a famous sketch. Of course, the Oscar nominee would quickly achieve wild notoriety in the 1980s, which made his subsequent five hosting gigs and additional cameos much-celebrated occasions.

In its several decades on air, Saturday Night Live has made icons out of many of its cast members. For some — including some of SNL’s one-season wonders — you might argue that the sketch comedy series is the peak of their careers, until you remember the acclaimed and widely beloved movies and TV shows they would go on to star in. Eddie Murphy (Coming To America)

48 Hrs. and Beverly Hills Cop made him a movie star, but Coming to America might be the absolute best Eddie Murphy movie, especially as the first to show just how far the comic’s extraordinary talents extend. He gives his most heartfelt performance as an African prince searching for love in New York City, but that is far from his only role in this dazzling romantic-com from 1988.

Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids)

Along with her writing partner, Annie Mumolo, Kristen Wiig joined the club of Oscar-nominated SNL stars for penning this 2011 instant classic comedy. She also transcends what made her a Studio 8H all-star by leading the Bridesmaids cast with her most down-to-earth performance yet as a baker suffering an existential crisis after her best friend (played by Maya Rudolph) gets engaged.

Adam Sandler (Uncut Gems)

Some argue that an SNL star who should have been nominated for an Oscar is Adam Sandler for his performance in one of the best A24 movies, Uncut Gems. If self-destructive jeweler Howard Rattner had been played by anyone else but the guy behind “The Hanukkah Song” and movies like Happy Gilmore, it might have been tough to root for the protagonist of Josh and Benny Safdie’s anxiety-fueled, 2019 crime drama.

Kate McKinnon (Barbie)

After previously working with Margot Robbie in Bombshell and making the A-lister laugh uncontrollably in an SNL sketch, Kate McKinnon reunited with the Australian actor in the Barbie cast in 2023. The Emmy-winner is perfect as “Weird Barbie” — now a real doll in Mattel’s catalog — in co-writer and director Greta Gerwig’s cleverly satirical and surprisingly moving blockbuster based on the legendary toy.

Will Ferrell (Stranger Than Fiction)

We love Will Ferrell in funny movies like Elf and Talladega Nights, but never has he given a performance as tender, reserved, and relatable as his Golden Globe-nominated role in Stranger Than Fiction. That is only one reason director Marc Forster’s inventive 2006 dramedy is his best movie in our eyes.

Molly Shannon (Wet Hot American Summer)

The Wet Hot American Summer cast is full of actors who went on to become superstars, but one of the biggest names among that ensemble at the time was SNL great Molly Shannon. She stars in the 2001 cult-favorite summer comedy classic as camp counselor Gail, who seeks consolation for her second divorce from surprisingly mature adolescent campers.

Bill Murray (Lost In Translation)

To this day, many believe that Bill Murray should have won the Academy Award for his performance in one of the best movies of the 2000s, Lost in Translation. Also one of the best movies produced by Focus Features, he stars in writer and director Sofia Coppola’s Oscar-winning sophomore effort as a disillusioned actor who strikes up a unique bond with a young woman (played by Scarlett Johansson) who is also struggling to navigate her life after meeting in Japan. 

Tina Fey (Mean Girls)

From her time on SNL as a cast member and head writer to her development of beloved comedies like 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Tina Fey has had one of the most impressive careers in comedy, let alone show business in general. However, her one credit that has best stood the test of time is her sharply satirical high school movie, Mean Girls, which she adapted from Rosalind Wiseman’s book and also stars in as Ms. Norbury.

Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers)

Dan Aykroyd may have a Best Picture Oscar winner under his belt (Driving Miss Daisy, for which he also received an acting nomination) and also wrote and starred in one of the beloved Ghostbusters. However, the movie that he will always be best known for is 1980’s The Blues Brothers, which is arguably the all-time best movie based on SNL characters (Ayrkoyd and John Belushi’s brotherly musicians, Jake and Elwood Blues) and one of the most important movies set in Chicago as well.

Gilda Radner (Haunted Honeymoon)

Highlights of Gilda Radner’s post-SNL career included sharing the screen with her husband, Gene Wilder, such as 1986’s Haunted Honeymoon, in which they play a couple staying in a spooky house to cure the groom’s anxieties. Unfortunately, the fun horror-comedy movie would also be her final film before she passed away in 1989.

Chevy Chase (Community)

After making a huge impact in so little time on SNL (not even two full seasons), Chevy Chase had a memorable film career (especially with National Lampoon’s Vacation movies), but it was his return to the small screen in the late 2000s that really had us especially impressed. He starred in the Community cast as Pierce Hawthorne — one of many Greendale Community College students experiencing often strange circumstances and meta pop-culture references in creator Dan Harmon’s inventive sitcom.

Chris Farley (Tommy Boy)

Perhaps the most influential ‘90s SNL actor was the late Chris Farley, whose one-in-a-million, energetic comedic talent made him a legend. He also made an impeccable team with fellow SNL actor David Spade in the hilarious road trip comedy, and one of the funniest and most iconic movies of the ‘90s, Tommy Boy.

Jimmy Fallon (Almost Famous)

Jimmy Fallon has had a stellar career, from his memorable SNL stint to hosting The Tonight Show, but most of his movies did not quite have the same impact — save his Oscar-winning feature-length debut in 2000. Fallon starred in writer and director Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous cast as the touring manager for Stillwater, Dennis Hope.

Amy Poehler (Inside Out)

Amy Poehler is the kind of performer who brings a sense of joy to everything she does, from her SNL days to the Parks and Recreation cast as Leslie Knope. Thus, it only makes sense that she would star as the personification of “Joy” in one of Pixar’s best movies: 2015’s Inside Out.

Will Forte (Nebraska)

We all know and love the masterfully goofy Will Forte from the “MacGruber” sketches and as the star and creator of a show canceled too soon called The Last Man on Earth, but 2013’s Nebraska showed a rare side of the actor we cherished seeing. He gives a somber, yet beautifully endearing, performance in director Alexander Payne’s Oscar-nominated drama as a man accompanying his estranged father (played by Bruce Dern) on a trip to collect a supposed million-dollar prize.

Maya Rudolph (The Way Way Back)

Maya Rudolph’s career outside SNL has been nothing short of impressive, but we were most impressed by her work in 2013’s The Way Way Back. From the Oscar-winning writing duo behind The Descendants (Nat Faxon and Jim Rash), this winning dramedy features Rudolph as Caitlin, a manager at a water park where teen protagonist Duncan (Liam James) works to escape a miserable summer at his mother’s boyfriend’s house.

Bill Hader (Barry)

Bill Hader never failed to surprise audiences with his impeccable impersonations and excellent commitment to character on SNL, but he surprised us in other ways with his first major small-screen follow-up. He played the title role of HBO’s Barry cast (in addition to co-creating the very dark comedy series), who is a hitman trying to reinvent himself as an actor.

Cecily Strong (Schmigadoon!)

One of the greatest surprises of John Mulaney’s SNL musical sketches was Cecily Strong’s smashing singing voice. It would also come in handy when she and Keegan-Michael Key led AppleTV+’s Schmigadoon! cast as a couple trapped in a world that looks and sounds like a lavish musical production.

Chris Rock (Nurse Betty)

In 2000, Chris Rock teamed up with Morgan Freeman as hitmen searching for a delusional widow (played by Renée Zellweger) convinced she is engaged to a soap opera character in director Neil LaBute’s sharp, quirky dramedy, Nurse Betty. We will, however, give an honorable mention for one of the best sitcoms starring an SNL vet, Everybody Hates Chris, which the comedian created and narrated.

Jane Curtin (3rd Rock From The Sun)

Years after playing an alien in, arguably, her single funniest SNL sketch (“The Coneheads”), Jane Curtin played one of the few human series regulars on a series also about otherworldly visitors trying to blend in. The former “Weekend Update” anchor starred on NBC’s hit sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun as Dr. Mary Albright, a colleague, and later fiancée, of Dick Solomon (John Lithgow) at Pendleton State University.

Andy Samberg (Palm Springs)

There is only so much that we are actually willing to reveal about our pick for Andy Samberg’s best effort outside of SNL, Palm Springs, for anyone who has not seen it yet. What we will say is that the 2020 rom-com — and one of the best movies on Hulu — stars the Lonely Island member and Golden Globe-winning Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor and Cristin Milioti as wedding guests who become embroiled in a very strange predicament.

Mike Myers (Shrek)

We love almost all of the characters Mike Myers has created or portrayed, from Wayne Campbell to Austin Powers, but picking his true all-time best work outside of Studio 8H is easy. Myers put on his best Scottish accent to voice the title role of 2001’s Shrek — the first movie to win the Best Animated Feature Oscar, for its sharp send-up of fairytale tropes and heartwarming unlikely romance.

Pete Davidson (The King Of Staten Island)

There have been some great Pete Davidson movies and TV shows over the years, but the former SNL star’s best work might also be one of his most personal. The Bupkis cast member based The King of Staten Island (which he co-wrote with director Judd Apatow) on his own life as the son of a firefighter who tragically passed on 9/11. 

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld)

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ time on SNL often goes forgotten, but you cannot say the same about the career she had after the show, which includes Emmy wins for shows like Veep and joining the MCU. However, she really blew up when she joined the Seinfeld cast as Elaine Benes, who was the focus of many classic and hilarious moments on the legendary sitcom.

Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso)

Jason Sudeikis is the kind of SNL performer who could make the Devil himself seem likable, which is why he was the perfect choice for the charming lead of the Ted Lasso cast for Apple TV+. Indeed, his Emmy-winning performance as the titular American football coach hired to manage an English football (a.k.a. soccer) team is key to its jubilant success.

Norm Macdonald (Dirty Work)

In 1998, the same year that the late Norm Macdonald was infamously fired from SNL, the actor came out with one of his best movies, Dirty Work. Also written by Macdonald and directed by Bob Saget, the comedy about a man who literally becomes a specialist in the business of revenge has gained a cult following despite getting bad reviews in the 90s.

Kenan Thompson (D2: The Mighty Ducks)

Before he became one of the longest-running SNL cast members, Kenan Thompson was part of Nickelodeon’s more kid-friendly sketch comedy, All That. However, before then, the Emmy winner made his acting debut in one of the greatest hockey movies, D2: the Mighty Ducks as the inventor of the Knuckle Puck, Russ.

Ana Gasteyer (Happiest Season)

As the creator of beloved sketches like “NPR’s Delicious Dish” and the astonishing ability to hide when sketches don’t go as planned, Ana Gasteyer’s SNL days do not get talked about enough. In 2020, she appeared alongside the Happiest Season cast in a brief, but memorable, role in the acclaimed LGBTQ+ romance dramedy.

Fred Armisen (Portlandia)

While he was still on SNL, Fred Armisen was the driving force of a whole different kind of sketch comedy series called Portlandia. In partnership with non-SNL sketch comedy actor Carrie Brownstein, the pair poked fun at life in Portland in a Monty Python-esque style of quirky and bizarre bits.

Tim Meadows (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping)

Despite his impressively long tenure, Tim Meadows is one of the most criminally underrated SNL actors and his big-screen presence is no different. Case in point: even one of his most prominent movie roles is from a vastly underrated, mockumentary-style comedy, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, from 2106 as Harry, manager to conner4real (Andy Samberg).

Tracy Morgan (30 Rock)

How fitting that one of Tracy Morgan’s greatest successes after being a sketch comedy show performer was playing a sketch comedy show performer. The comic stole every scene in creator and star Tina Fey’s brilliantly surreal broadcasting satire, 30 Rock, as over-the-top actor, Tracy Jordan.

Aidy Bryant (Shrill)

Even before she left SNL (a bit later than she anticipated as a result of Covid-19), Aidy Bryant had already ventured on with a series of her own called Shrill. The actor received an Emmy nomination for her performance on the Hulu original comedy (which she also co-created) as an overweight journalist aspiring to change who she is inside without changing who she is outside.

Even if Saturday Night Live is what these actors are remembered best for, that does not mean it will always be the best thing they are remembered for.

Jaime Foxx shocked the world when it was revealed that he suffered a medical complication that has led to him spending extended time in the hospital. His daughter was the one who shared the information about Foxx on social media, but she did not share any details about the medical complication in question. This came only days after he was seen on set filming his new movie Back in Action with the newly unretired Cameron Diaz. Now, an insider is providing an update on the Oscar winner’s health, and friends of his, including Martin Lawrence and Steve Harvey, are sharing support for his recovery. 

Little information is still known about what caused Foxx’s medical condition, however, the actor is reportedly recovering, his health is slowly improving, and many tests are being done. An inside source also gave a health update about Foxx to People, saying:

Thank goodness he is getting better despite a serious incident. Many of Foxx’s fans were surprised that he suffered a health problem, and they are not alone. The actor's friends also seemed shocked that he ended up in the hospital, especially considering the 55-year-old is in really good shape. Many of the Ray star's peers recently gathered to celebrate Martin Lawrence being a recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where ET asked them about Foxx’s condition. Steve Harvey expressed his own surprise, saying:

Martin Lawrence also sent his love to the Collateral star and his family while expressing his reverence for Foxx as an actor and a friend. He said:

Lastly, Tracy Morgan expressed his solidarity for Foxx, relating to the actor due to his own past health issues. Morgan was hospitalized after a vehicle collision back in 2014 that led to him being in a coma for 10 days. He sent his well-wishes to his friend, saying:

While a timeline for the actor's return to acting is still uncertain, everyone, including his closest friends are rooting for a speedy recovery and for the actor to return to the big screen soon. As previously mentioned, he was in the midst of filming his latest Netflix movie, Back in Action, when the incident happened, and little is known about how Foxx's emergency will affect the film’s release. Regardless, his health is the most important, and clearly, he has a lot of support from friends and family.

For the past year, former Saturday Night Live cast member Horatio Sanz has been part of a lawsuit in which an anonymous woman accused the comedian of sexual assault at a 2002 afterparty for the longtime NBC sketch comedy. On August 23, comedians Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan, as well as SNL boss Lorne Michaels, were added to the suit, as Jane Doe’s attorney accused them of “enabling” the alleged assault. 

The Pennsylvania woman who is suing Horatio Sanz and NBC was reportedly 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident, and according to the new court documents obtained by Deadline, she said Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan were participants in the culture that enabled the assault, and that Lorne Michaels was aware that underage girls were often invited to the parties and served alcohol. The accuser's attorney, Susan Crumiller, said:

According to the court filing, Jane Doe spoke to and hung out with Jimmy Fallon numerous times because of the comedian’s close friendship with Horatio Sanz during the period of time when Sanz was allegedly “grooming Jane.” Tracy Morgan reportedly hosted the “after-after party” where the alleged assault happened. 

NBC filed a motion in April 2022 to dismiss the original complaint, saying (via IndieWire) the network was not responsible for Sanz’s actions off of the set and that it was not their duty “to protect third-persons from the possibility of sexual abuse by their employees.” Deadline reports that in response to the new documents filed August 23, the network said:

In response to the initial lawsuit, Horatio Sanz’s lawyer Andrew Brettler told TMZ that Jane Doe’s claims were “categorically false” and “ludicrous.” He further alleged: 

Lorne Michaels created Saturday Night Live for NBC in 1975 and continues to produce the sketch comedy show, which wrapped its 47th season in May. Michaels has said he’d like to make it at least to Season 50 before possibly retiring. 

While Jimmy Fallon left SNL in 2004 after six years, he is still an employee of NBC as host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Tracy Morgan worked on Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003 and also starred in Tiny Fey’s sitcom 30 Rock, which aired on NBC and was based on her experiences as a writer on the sketch show.

Horatio Sanz was an SNL cast member from 1998 to 2006, when it was announced he was among staff who had been let go due to budget cuts. He returned for a couple of guest appearances in 2007.

Adult Swim decided to fire longtime Squidbillies actor and musician Unknown Hinson for racist and offensive rants on social media back in 2020. The decision left the long-running series in a bind, as it had to replace its star long into the series’ run. Now, the show has found a solution for its final season and, if I may be so bold, found an A+ replacement to play Early Cuyler. Tracy Morgan – yes, 30 Rock and The Last O.G.’s Tracy Morgan – will voice Early in the final season. 

The announcement came during a comedic promo for the process, in which many iconic Cartoon Network voice actors tried their hand at voicing the redneck squid. Check out the video, which features voice work from actors like Cowboy Bebop voice actor Steve Blum, Space Ghost’s George Lowe, Rick and Morty’s Spencer Grammer, and, of course, Tracy Morgan. 

When one thinks of redneck culture, living in the mountains, and drinking moonshine, I’m sure Tracy Morgan isn’t the first person who comes to mind. At the end of the day, though, why not just for an outlandish casting, especially for a series as bizarre as Squidbillies? Sure, co-creator Dave Willis probably could’ve found a voice closer than Meatwad’s to make it work, but can he make “Do not touch the trim” sound as hilarious as Morgan? 

Tracy Morgan will voice Early Cuyler in Squidbillies’ final season, which will premiere on Sunday, November 7. The day will mark the beginning of the end for an Adult Swim series that first started back in 2005. It’s the close of an era for another classic series from the programming block, though, with Morgan in at the lead, it should be interesting for sure. 

Squidbillies decided to move forward without Unknown Hinson following social media tirades that contained offensive and racist language. Hinson called country music legend Dolly Parton a “slut” and other offensive terms for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Hinson did apologize for his remarks, but the apology didn’t impact his removal from the series. Squidbillies' hiring of someone who sounds nothing like Hinson seems an indicator the team doesn’t wish to hide his removal from the show, which seemed unavoidable in any event considering what occurred. 

As previously mentioned, Squidbillies returns to Adult Swim for its final season on Sunday, November 7 at 12:00 a.m. ET. I’m excited for the end of the series, though I’ll definitely need to catch up on an episode or two over at HBO Max, considering I’ve missed a few episodes over the past decade. Hopefully, this last season will live up to the series’ reputation. The first 12 seasons are currently available streaming on HBO Max. 

At the age of 74, Arnold Schwarzenegger is still getting things done, as he’s working hard in the gym and prepping for upcoming projects. The film that currently has his attention is the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 buddy comedy, Twins. Triplets reunites him with co-star Danny DeVito, and it would seem the two are having plenty of fun together. And with two big personalities working together, there are bound to be off-camera hijinks. This was proven to be true when Schwarzenegger revealed that he tried to pull a prank on DeVito. And the joke was actually a callback to one that occurred while they were making the original movie. 

Filming for the upcoming sequel doesn’t formally kick off until early 2022, but the stars are already getting together. The Terminator actor recently revealed in his newsletter that Triplets director Ivan Reitman (who directed the first film) brought the two in ahead of the shoot. It was during this meeting that he tried to get one over on his co-star with a gag involving a cigar. The actor said about his attempted prank:

It looks like Danny DeVito isn’t one to get fooled so easily. Still, you have to give Arnold Schwarzenegger some props for trying. Funny enough, I would honestly love to see the video of DeVito trying out the cigar for himself. But until the 76-year-old star does decide to drop it, you can enjoy the video of Schwarzenegger’s gag down below:

It would seem that the Batman Returns alum certainly knows how to have a good time with his colleagues. While he was working with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart on Jumanji: The Next Level, the former posted a pic of the trio doing a script read. Based on his jovial presence during interviews, it’s no surprise that his co-stars love being around him. One would imagine that after 14 season’s on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, he’s built great chemistry with his fellow cast members. 

Twins still stands as one of the star’s most memorable cinematic turns. The movie centers on twins, the result of an unusual experiment, who were separated at birth. The pair eventually meet up as adults, though they turn out to be very different people. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Julius is an illegent and physically imposing young man, while Danny DeVito’s Vincent is a short, street-wise man with a criminal history. 

There aren’t too many concrete plot details on Triplets just yet, but it has been revealed that the two lead characters will find their other twin. And as mentioned in the newsletter, that character will be played by Coming 2 America’s Tracy Morgan. Having him on set with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito should make for a fun filmmaking experience and, with his comedic sensibilities, I wouldn’t be surprised if he joins his colleagues in employing pranks.

Making movies isn’t easy. There are long hours of filming, logistical challenges at every turn, and sometimes it can be hard for co-stars to be co-workers, due to personality clashes and struggles with working in harmony. That appears to have been the case on the set of the irreverent comedy Cop Out as far as Kevin Smith and Bruce Willis are concerned. While the actor-director has hinted at the friction before, he recently shared that he felt “true darkness” when he directed the Die Hard star.

Kevin Smith has made it clear over the years that he is the kind of director that loves what he does. When he’s not making his own, he spends his time talking about pop culture: comic books, of course, but his favorite movies, too. Despite his candor, his new book has still offered up a lot of new insights into his career. Kevin Smith’s Secret Stash: The Definitive Visual History chronicles nearly his entire filmography to date, from 1994’s Clerks to 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. That means sharing anecdotes about the highs and the lows he’s had on some of his film sets -- including his seemingly less-than-enjoyable experience on 2010’s Cop Out (via ScreenCrush):

As mentioned, this is not the first time that Kevin Smith has alluded to friction with Bruce Willis. In an interview with CinemaBlend he said that he had to adjust his directing style in order to effectively work with the actor. According to Smith, he was a longtime fan of Willis and enjoyed his first experience working with him on Live Free or Die Hard. But the two had creative differences while filming Cop Out.

In Secret Stash, Smith reiterated a story he’d already told about Willis taking issue with Smith allowing Tracy Morgan to improvise his dialogue. He also shared that Willis had not taken kindly to Smith “contradicting” him in front of the crew.

While there are at least two sides to every story, Smith did not hold back in his version of events. He accuses Bruce Willis of being lazy and admits that if the star had fired him from the project, he would not have been upset about it. In other words, from Smith’s perspective, it was not a great experience.

In the years since Cop Out's release, Bruce Willis has shared brief thoughts on Kevin Smith's accusations and, while he hasn't discussed their conflict in depth, he did confirm that the two had a difficult time working together. He also referred to Smith as a "whiner" while also saying he would never "call him out and lay him out in public."

One of the most unlikely yet hilarious pairings of movie history has to be Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito when they played long lost siblings in Twins. The 1988 film continues to be a comedic highlight for the pair of movie stars, so much so that they never gave up on finding a third for a sequel called Triplets. Looks like the movie is finally getting off the ground and their pick to round out the Benedict trio is going to be hilarious.

Saturday Night Live alum and star of 30 Rock, Tracy Morgan is set to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in Triplets, per a report from Deadline. The comedian will play the third sibling to Julian and Vincent Benedict in an upcoming movie to be directed by Twins’ Ivan Reitman.

The original film came out in 1988 and scored a huge $216 million worldwide at the time. The script for Triplets was written by newcomers Dylan Dawson and Lucas Kavner. When speaking to the trade publication about the new project, Ivan Reitman shared how Triplets came about:

Ivan Reitman not only directed the original Twins but other classics like Ghostbusters, Junior and more recently 2011’s No Strings Attached. As he shared, Triplets was going to originally star Eddie Murphy as the third Benedict brother, but since the actor has recently been booking up more and more projects, including Beverly Hills Cop 4, the role was passed on to Tracy Morgan.

Morgan is best known for playing Tracy Jordan on Tina Fey’s NBC series 30 Rock, but he’s also starred in a number of comedies with other legends like 2010’s Cop Out with Bruce Willis, Death At a Funeral and Top Five with Chris Rock and Coming 2 America with Eddie Murphy earlier this year. Triplets is looking to shoot in Boston and according to Reitman, he’ll be treating the movie like an independent film, an approach he felt worked well for Twins as well.

The last major film Danny DeVito was in was Jumanji: the Next Level, but the 75 year old has of course kept his comedic chops fresh with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Arnold Schwarzenegger has kept busy as well, recently returning to T-800 in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. We’d be excited to just see the combo back on their own, but Tracy Morgan’s involvement will just add even more fun into the equation.

When it comes to some of the greatest comedies ever, in my mind, I think of a very select few. I imagine The Office, Parks and Recreation, and all the way at the top, Tina Fey’s 30 Rock sits with the crown. And ever since it ended back in 2013, I have felt a hole in my heart that can only be filled by its wonderful comedy.

However, even if a reunion special did recently happen, one can only wonder what the cast of the iconic comedy has been up to since it ended. From Tina Fey to Alec Baldwin, these amazing actors and actresses have done so much – here is what the cast of 30 Rock is up to now.

Tina Fey (Liz Lemon)

Any time I think of a comedic genius, one of the people that always comes to mind is Tina Fey, the creator behind 30 Rock and who played Liz Lemon for the entirety of the series.

Tina Fey has been up to plenty since her time on the comedy has ended. She went on to create another hit sitcom on Netflix, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, where she would also have a role from time to time. Besides that, Tina Fey has appeared in several films, including the sequel to The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted, the comedy film, Sisters, the comedy-drama, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and in the cast of Pixar's, Soul.

She's also currently taken up a part in the cast of Girls5eva, in which she is also an executive producer. In the next year, Tina Fey is working on Mulligan, a Netflix animated comedy series that follows the story of humanity trying to rebuild after aliens attacked the earth, according to Deadline.

Tracy Morgan (Tracy Jordan)

Another famous face from this series, Tracy Morgan, who portrayed Tracy Jordan, has been up to a lot since 30 Rock ended in 2013. After his time on the famous sitcom, Morgan would go on to star in another comedy on TBS, The Last O.G., which he produces alongside Academy-Award-winner Jordan Peele. The show is still running today.

In terms of film, Morgan has had a variety of film roles. His most recent was a part in Coming 2 America, starring Eddie Murphy. He was also in Rio and its sequel Rio 2, the stop-motion film The Boxtrolls, the animated film, Scoob!, and the comedy What Men Want. Tracy Morgan has also been doing comedy specials for some time as well, including Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive and more.

Jane Krakowski (Jenna Maroney)

Jane Krakowski portrayed Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock, and ever since the show ended, she’s been taking on the TV world by storm. She had a main role in Tina Fey’s comedy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt as Jacqueline White, a main role as Emily Norcross Dickinson in Dickinson on Apple TV+, and then went on to play The Countess on Apple TV+'s Schmigadoon! alongside a star-studded cast. She’s also been the host of Name That Tune since it premiered in 2021.

Jane Krakowski also appeared in a couple of films since 30 Rock ended, including the Adam Sandler comedy Pixels, and The Willoughbys. In 2021, she will be offering her voice talents once more to My Little Pony: A New Generation.

Jack McBrayer (Kenneth Ellen Parcell)

I have a feeling the reason everyone loved Kenneth because he was so cheerful, and that performance was brought to life through the wonderful Jack McBrayer. Since 30 Rock ended, McBrayer has actually focused a lot on voicework in television. He played Irving on the hit Disney Channel show, Phineas and Ferb, a role he would revisit in the two films the series had. Besides that, McBrayer would go on to do various voices in Bob’s Burgers and have the main role as Wander in Wander Over Yonder. He also had a minor role in Ralph Breaks the Internet.

However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done live-action work as well. McBrayer has also had a couple of appearances on Drunk History, as well as The Middle. But there’s no doubt that if you listen to his voice, you will probably recognize him. He has some more voice work coming out soon, like Devil May Care and Bless the Harts, two adult animated shows, and will be appearing in the upcoming comedy film, Queenpins.

Scott Adsit (Pete Hornberger)

Another great character in 30 Rock was Pete Hornberger, and the wonderful Scott Adsit played him perfectly. Since 30 Rock concluded in 2013, Adsit has done a couple of live-action films, such as St. Vincent and Uncle Nick. However, his biggest role thus far has been portraying Baymax in the Disney film, Big Hero 6, a role he would go on to reprise in Big Hero 6: The Series.

Adsit has also had a couple of appearances on TV shows as well - usually a guest or recurring role. Some of his highlights were a recurring role as Greg Hart on Veep and portraying Tony on The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

Judah Friedlander (Frank Rossitano)

Franks hats were some of the best of the show and no one can tell me differently. Judah Friedlander, who portrayed Frank, has mainly stuck to comedy since 30 Rock concluded, but has done a couple of projects on TV.

While he was in films such as Epic and Can You Keep A Secret?, his biggest project thus far was having a role in the Sharknado films, in the sequel and the third. After that, he went on to have a role in a TV series short, titled Helpsters, a show that follows a team of monsters who love to help. He also had a part in the Christmas film, The Truth About Santa Claus. Hopefully, it won't be long before we get to see him on our TV screens with his comedic charm once more.

Alec Baldwin (Jack Donaghy)

Oh, Alec Baldwin. He has been everywhere since his time in 30 Rock came to a close. Besides playing a literal boss baby in The Boss Baby and its 2021 sequel, The Boss Baby: Family Business, Alec Baldwin portrayed former President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live for the entirety of the President’s term from 2016 - 2020, which won him a Primetime Emmy Award.

Besides his hilarious performance on the sketch show, Baldwin has been up to his elbows in film and TV. He was in the drama, Still Alice, two Mission Impossible films, portraying Alan Hunley in both Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, played Dr. Kennebrew Beaureguard in BlacKkKlansman, and will portray Enzo Ferrari in the upcoming film, Lamborghini – The Legend. He also played George Tenet in the miniseries, The Looming Tower. Coming up, he will be in a crime drama miniseries titled Dr. Death. There’s truly no stopping Alec Baldwin.

Katrina Bowden (Cerie Xerox)

In my life, I aspire to be a laid-back as Cerie was in 30 Rock. Katrina Bowden, who played Cerie Xerox, has kept busy since the show ended. She went on to have roles in Scary Movie 5, The Divorce Party, and The Last Film Festival. Coming up, she has several films coming out, like Senior Moment and Fishbowl California, although it’s unknown when they’ll actually release yet.

However, her biggest role thus far since 30 Rock ended has been playing Florence “Flo” Fulton on the long-running soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, a role she would also guest star on The Young and the Restless in early 2021.

Keith Powell (James “Toofer” Spurlock)

Every show always needs that guy that’s just the complete opposite of the main characters, and that’s where Toofer (Keith Powell) came into play. While he hasn’t done much film-wise since 30 Rock ended, Powell has been active in television. He had a role for two episodes on the HBO show, The Newsroom, as well as a recurring role as Richard on the sitcom, About a Boy. In 2020, he again had a recurring role on a sitcom, this time called Connecting, playing Garrett.

Powell has also tried his hand at drama this last year, portraying Dr. Vance on the latest season of the NBC series, This Is Us. I hope soon I’ll be able to see more of him and all his comedic skills on television once more.

Lonny Ross (Josh Girard)

Josh’s impressions were honestly one of the highlights that I loved to see, and Lonny Ross did a great job at doing them. Since 30 Rock ended, Ross has mainly stuck to his work on television, with only a couple of movie credits, such as A Futile and Stupid Gesture.

Even so, he’s been on some new TV shows. He portrayed Max Ross in Level Up on Cartoon Network and had a guest role on the popular sitcom, Arrested Development. He also has done various voices on animated series, Little Big Awesome.

Maulik Pancholy (Jonathan)

If I ever had a personal assistant, I’d want someone like Jonathan, as loyal as he was – and a bit in love with Jack as he was. Regardless, Maulik Pancholy was the perfect casting choice for the character. Pancholy has gone the route that a lot of his co-stars have done and focused on voice work a lot in the last couple of years. His biggest role has been portraying Baljeet Tjinder in Phineas and Ferb, a role he would continue to do in both Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension, and in the Disney+ original film, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe.

Pancholy also returned to Disney after his time as Baljeet on Phineas and Ferb, where he had a voice role in the Indian-American-Canadian series, Mira, Royal Detective, in which he played Ranjeet.

Maulik Pancholy also had a voice role in Sanjay and Craig, playing the titular Sanjay Patel. Pancholy also has had several guest appearances during his career, on shows such as The Good Fight, Helpsters, Dynasty, and more.

John Lutz (J.D. Lutz)

Poor J.D. Lutz, always being the butt of a joke. But John Lutz is anything but a joke. Lutz has done plenty in the acing world since 30 Rock ended, with bigger roles in the Tina Fey comedy, Sisters and Mapleworth Murders, a comedy-mystery series that was on the former streaming service, Quibi. He also had roles in several TV shows, such as the series, The Awesomes, his own series, The Cream Brothers, where he played Chuck, a recurring role on Shrink, and more.

However, Lutz has been constantly writing for Late Night with Seth Meyers, as well as writing the story for Mapleworth Murders. While he might not be on the screen, there’s no doubt he’s been working hard behind it.

Writing this honestly just makes me miss the cast even more. I need to check the 2021 fall TV schedule to see if any of these amazing actors and actresses will appear in any of my favorite shows. I have to go watch Schmigadoon!again. Who do you miss the most from 30 Rock?

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion was a joy to watch, as the special included a number of sweet moments with the Will Smith-led cast. But the best was arguably the reunion and reconciliation between Smith and original Aunt Viv actress Janet Hubert. The veteran performer’s career was heavily affected by her departure from the hit NBC sitcom back in the early ‘90s and, in the years since, she’s grabbed roles here and there. Now, following her appearance on the Fresh Prince reunion, she’s earned a new role in a well-known sitcom.

Janet Hubert has been tapped for a role in the upcoming fourth season of TBS’ The Last O.G. with Tracy Morgan. On the show, Morgan plays Tray, an ex-con trying to find his place in the world following a 15-year stint in prison. Deadline reports that Hubert will play Miss May Miller, a good friend of Roberta’s (Anna Maria Horsford). And based on the report, it sounds like May will have plenty to say regarding Tray’s attempts to bring change to his community.

The Last O.G. has brought in a number of comedy veterans during its run. Over the years, Tracy Morgan and former lead Tiffany Haddish have been joined by notable names like Cedric the Entertainer, J.B. Smoove and Method Man. Janet Hubert is definitely a worthy addition to this list of stars.

Aside from her work on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Janet Hubert has also appeared on shows like Gilmore Girls, The Bernie Mac Show and General Hospital. In the realm of film, she’s appeared in No Letting Go and Not Another Black Movie.

Longtime fans are likely thrilled to see Janet Hubert pick up another acting gig after her appearance on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion. And if you’re aware of the details of her departure from the show, it’s that much more gratifying.

In 1993, as the third season of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air drew to a close, Janet Hubert was offered an unsatisfactory contract extension. This paired with the growing tension between her and co-star Will Smith caused her to depart the show after that season. However, at the time, it was inaccurately reported that she was fired from the show, with rumors alleging that she had been difficult to work with. As she explained during the reunion, this label would unfortunately remain with Hubert and she would have a tough time finding consistent work as the years went on.

But despite her experiences, many Fresh Prince fans have never forgotten Janet Hubert and her contributions to TV, and this admiration likely left many emotional when Will Smith honored her during the reunion. Hopefully, this will be the first of many new roles for the actress.

Playing Tracy Jordan on 30 Rock, Tracy Morgan was given license to spoof a number of famous comedians, and Eddie Murphy is certainly a name on that list – poking fun at the star of Nutty Professor (and, more notably, Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps) with fake movies like The Chunks and The Chunks 2: A Very Chunky Christmas. This in mind, it’s funny to see them working side-by-side in the new film Coming 2 America, but that very much speaks to the positive vibes between the two stars.

I spoke with Tracy Morgan during the virtual press day for Coming 2 America last month in advance of its debut on Amazon Prime, and during our conversation I asked the actor if he ever got a sense of how Eddie Murphy felt about his work on 30 Rock and the Tracy Jordan character. While it wasn’t clear from his response if they ever had an actual conversation about it, he made it clear that it’s just something in the background of their relationship as colleagues in comedy. Said Morgan,

Clearly there is a lot of love there. It was later during that same day of interviews that I learned from Eddie Murphy that Tracy Morgan was his first pick to play his son in Coming 2 America, but ultimately it was decided that it wouldn’t work because the age difference wasn’t right. It should also be recognized that Murphy’s alluded-to appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live not only features Murphy doing an impression of Morgan, but also discussing that he was the first person to make the 30 Rock star laugh following the car crash that left him hospitalized in 2014.

While both Eddie Murphy and Tracy Morgan are Saturday Night Live alumni, Coming 2 America marks the first time that they have worked together on a film. The comedy sequel sees Murphy return as King Akeem of Zamunda (among multiple other roles), and Morgan plays Uncle Reem – the paternal figure in the life of Lavelle Junson (Jermaine Fowler), the son Akeem never knew he had.

Live television is a tricky thing. Events like the Golden Globe Awards can be a bit messy, and that's made especially true since tonight's ceremony is also a bicoastal digital event. Plenty of technical difficulties have occurred, starting from the very first category. Comedian Tracy Morgan had his own gaffe when revealing the winner for the Best Original Score, announcing it was "Sal" rather than the recent Disney+ masterpiece Soul. Luckily, actor Don Cheadle helped to relieve the tension with some A+ responses.

After each segment of this year's Golden Globes ceremony, we're shown a group of nominees conversing with each other via video call. Plenty of them have been awkward, as celebs adjust to this very strange way of meeting each other. After Tracy Morgan accidentally called Soul by the name "Sal", Don Cheadle was featured with other nominees poking fun at the mistake. Check it out below.

I mean, how can you not love that guy? While we all felt collectively uncomfortable watching certain moments from the Golden Globe Awards, luckily there were also instances that let air out of the (virtual) room. It turns out that Don Cheadle was kind of on a roll tonight while attending The Golden Globes from the safety of his home. Shortly after Tracy Morgan's Soul mistake, actor Jason Sudekeis won for his work on Ted Lasso. Sudekeis' speech was running a bit long, and Cheadle once again took the piss out the situation by motioning to his fellow nominee "wrap is it up." Don Cheadle is an actor known for his talent, as well as his charismatic personality. His sense of humor has been highlighted in projects like Ocean's Eleven and Avengers: Endgame, and it was extra charming for him to help joke about the awkwardness of this year's Golden Globe Awards. He may arguably be the MVP of the ceremony, aside from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Don Cheadle was nominated for his work on Showtime's series Black Monday. This is his second acclaimed series on the network, after starring in House of Lies alongside Kristen Bell. Cheadle is also known for his time playing War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was last seen in Avengers: Endgame, and it's currently unclear when Rhodey will return to our screens. But with so many projects coming down the line such as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, perhaps he'll end up with a surprise appearance.

It’s no mystery that the key place to find some the best (and most expensive) commercials on TV is the Super Bowl. It’s also no mystery that this year’s big game is one like no other, coming in the midst of the COVID pandemic. As such, fewer ads aired overall throughout CBS’ Super Bowl LV telecast, and they weren’t quite as weird and wacky as they’ve been in years past. Mirth and joy weren't completely absent, to be sure, with several big brands such as M&M's, Tide and ViacomCBS' soon-to-be-rebranded streaming service Paramount+ delivering big laughs with their quirky spots.

Let's kick things off with the previously mentioned chocolate-coated candies that long ago developed its reputation for hilarious and memorable Super Bowl commercials, with M&M's recruiting Schitt's Creek fave Dan Levy for its latest high-profile spot.

M&M's Thinking Dan Levy Is Sus

Recent years have been trying on many personal relationships, so M&M's is offering itself up as the perfect accompaniment to a long-warranted apology to a friend or loved one. Granted, not everyone will be repentant for the specific reason that recent SNL guest host Dan Levy is, namely for eating anthropomorphic candies, and then lying about it directly to their big, round, delicious faces. 2021 might not be such a good year for the Red M&M.

Doritos' Creepy 2D Matthew McConaughey

Remember in True Detective when Matthew McConaughey's character Rust Cohle said that time is a flat circle? I wanted to find a way to spin that quote in the most clever way to talk about this Doritos 3D ad, but I was too creeped out by McConaughey's paper doll appearance to attempt it. Thankfully, the punchline moment with the vending machine saved this from being 100% nightmare fuel. Still more appealing than some of his Lincoln commercials, though.

General Motors Bringing Will Ferrell To Norway...Er, Sweden

Scruffy Will Ferrell should host his own international travel show, with this General Motors ad serving as the pilot. "Will Ferrell pulls together a group of celebrity friends to go on mishandled global adventures" is a perfect logline. Pirate Kenan Thompson? Check. Super-archer Awkwafina? Check. Something about General Motors? Check. That's it. That's the show.

Tracy Morgan Getting Dangerous For Rocket Mortgage

Having given the world too-skinny Jason Momoa last year, Rocket Mortgage crafted a pair of this year's best Super Bowl ads thanks to both its solid "I'm pretty sure..." gag and the genius of Tracy Morgan. The commercial above featured WWE and Guardians of the Galaxy superstar Dave Bautista in a few fun moments, while the second ad actually featured a pro wrestling joke that didn't use Bautista. I don't know about you, but I'm no longer feeling very confident in Morgan's ability to tell the difference between hornets that do murder and hornets that do not murder.

Wayne's World Returning For Uber Eats

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey already had Wayne's World fans clamoring for more Wayne and Garth after they reunited during the 2019 Oscars, and Uber Eats is somehow the company that answered the [eat local] call with a series of wonderfully silly ads culminating in the shameless Super Bowl spot seen above. If you had "Cardi B dressed up as Garth Algar" on your bingo card, then you [eat local] win it all. Game, set, schwing!

Paramount+ Bringing Together Star Trek, Beavis And Butt-Head & More

For all the pop culture fanatics out there who tend to embrace crossovers and multiverses, Paramount+'s Super Bowl ads were downright magical, bringing together actors and characters from a wide variety of TV shows under the ViacomCBS umbrella to make viewers fully aware of the CBS All Access streaming service rebranding. For my money, the best way to do it is to have Beavis & Butt-Head showing up to laugh at Sonequa Martin-Green saying "crack." But others might be more into Star Trek's Spock and Picard mixing it up with James Corden and SpongeBob SquarePants. Whatever your taste, the extended ad above has something for everyone. Even Crank Yankers fans.

Michael B Jordan As Hot Alexa

You know how some people seem to be obsessed with artificially intelligent digital assistants? You might think it's because technology makes things easy and saves time, but sometimes it comes down to the person daydreaming that the AI is a total stud muffin like Michael B. Jordan. This Amazon commercial is probably closer to reality than we'd like to think – don't mention that one Netflix show, though – but I mean, is it really a dystopia when Alexa's eyes and voice are so striking and soothing, in that order? (Also, points go to this commercial for having the dirtiest joke of the Super Bowl, when the husband talks about things "getting way too wet around here.")

Tide's Seinfeld Callback With Jason Alexander

Seinfeld vet Jason Alexander had fans excited for his Tide Super Bowl ad ahead of the Super Bowl, and the final product definitely justified the hype. Not in the most normal way or anything, but still. The commercial was already hilarious on the surface for the whole idea of a face-morphing Jason Alexander hoodie, and it went next-level awesome by bringing in the song "Theme from Greatest American Hero (Believe It or Not)," which George Costanza memorably used as his answering machine message on Seinfeld.

Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton's T-Mobile Hookup

Speaking of good-looking celebs, one of the hottest couples in Hollywood right now is Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who reteamed with former Voice coach Adam Levine for a hilarious T-Mobile commercial that managed to continue Levine and Shelton's faux feud. The ad revealed the "real" way that the two musicians first hooked up. Turns out it wasn't due to their shared duties on The Voice, but rather really shitty cell reception. How dare he wear spurs.

Timothee Chalamet Becoming Edgar Scissorhands For Cadillac

It's not worthy trying to make sense of Cadillac being the company behind this bonkers ad, so just accept the magnificence of Winona Ryder reprising her Edward Scissorhands role of Kim Boggs, with Timothee Chalamet donning the bladed fingers as Edgar Scissorhands. Whether or not fans start yelling for Tim Burton to deliver a sequel to his 1990 classic, this ad still stands alone as a winner of a tribute, as well as the only Cadillac commercial I'll likely remember for the next year.

Coming 2 America represents the realization of a dream. Fans have waited over 30 years for a sequel to Eddie Murphy’s 1988 comedy and, now, Murphy, director Craig Brewer and the original cast are delivering the heavily anticipated follow-up. Of course, fans aren’t the only ones who are ecstatic about the film’s release. Some of the film’s new stars, who grew up with (or even auditioned for) the original movie, are excited to be continuing the franchise. This includes Tracy Morgan, who recently revealed his touching, personal connection to the first film.

Like many of us, Tracy Morgan grew up a big fan of Eddie Murphy, who he views as one of his comedy idols. This was one of the things that appealed to him the most when he was given the opportunity to join Coming 2 America. However, his love for the franchise also stems from the fact that the first movie came into his life during a difficult time:

Tracy Morgan has been very candid about his relationship with his late father, Jimmy Morgan Sr., who was in and out of Morgan’s life when he was young. Morgan Sr. died of AIDS at the age of 39, something that remains on Morgan’s mind. Despite their up and down relationship, Morgan loved his father and credits him for being the one who taught the comedian “how to tell a story.”

Although his father was not able to see Coming to America, Tracy Morgan told Complex that he believes his dad would have loved it, especially since he was a fan of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. So getting to star alongside the comedic duo in the new movie was especially significant for Morgan:

Tracy Morgan has done quite a bit during his illustrious career, but getting to work with Eddie Murphy is something that he’d wanted to do for a while. Thankfully for him (and us), the two comedy legends will now finally get to share the screen together.

This year's Emmy Awards ceremony was quite a weird one, considering the majority of the celebs that audiences are used to seeing largely showed up remotely, with host Jimmy Kimmel welcoming a round robin of TV stars including Anthony Anderson, Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, among others. To be expected, the lack of an audience and a general lack of a straightforward structure led to some weird, wild and unpredictable bits. And yes, some of them were unintentionally awkward AF. So let's talk about a bunch of them, shall we? (Check here to see all the big winners!)

The Opening

We already talked about the opening in full elsewhere, but I'll say here that it was a microcosm of the show as a whole. From the awkwardness of the repurposed audience reaction shots to the excellence of Jason Bateman's random appearance, it was probably the most proper way to introduce this one-of-a-kind telecast.

Setting Fire To The Winner's Envelope

Jennifer Aniston was the night's first presenter, and after an enjoyably cringey joke about Aniston's "sexy feet," the Morning Show star and Jimmy Kimmel sterilized the winner's envelope to the fullest by burning off all the germs, as well as the envelope itself. And it kept burning for just a little too long, no matter how much Aniston used her fire extinguisher. Or not long enough, depending on how you look at it.

Tracee Ellis Ross Sticking Around Only For The Gift Bag

Everybody knows that Tracee Ellis Ross is a team player and would be there for the TV Academy out of dedication. So while her "performance" here was as solid as can be – and she rocked that dress so hard – she probably wasn't the most ideal celeb to use the gift bag gag on.

Shaq Announcing Curb Your Enthusiasm For Outstanding Comedy Series

I liked having rando celebs introducing the bigger awards and talking about what the shows meant to them, but it was unquestionably weird to start that new process off by having NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal introduce Curb Your Enthusiasm. Yes, he cameoed on it for the Season 2 episode fittingly titled "Shaq," but it was still weird to see his grinning mug like that.

David Letterman!

Seeing David Letterman was less weird than it was awesome, but I'm pulling it into this list anyway. First, Letterman looks like a Hermit King with his mostly empty head and gigantic beard. Second, he pulled out index cards and delivered a Top 10-esque rundown of jokes that he supposedly didn't use when he co-hosted the 1986 Emmys, which came complete with the smashed-glass sound effect. Third, he gave a shout out to his longtime buddy Regis Philbin by confirming to the late TV host that he was definitely included in the "In Memoriam" segment. Come back to TV move, Dave!

Jimmy Kimmel's Participation Award

Joking about participation awards is so pre-the-horror-that-has-been-2020, so this was an odd joke to throw out there. It was also strange for this bit to joke about Jimmy Kimmel getting Blu-ray sets for CBS' Young Sheldon, though it might have been their way of acknowledging that show crushing most other scripted programming in the ratings. Regardless, it was a weird acknowledgement.

Jeremy Irons' Still Image

Jeremy Irons wasn't the only celeb to miss out on the ceremony, but for whatever reason, his stoic still frame image stood out as being weirdly amusing to see among other live-action nominees. Probably because that's how Watchmen's Adrian Veidt would do it.

Reese Witherspoon And Kerry Washington's New Year's Party

Of course, there were plenty of moments when the Emmys skewed political, but one of the most surreal examples came when Jimmy Kimmel talked to Little Fires Everywhere stars Reese Washington and Kerry Washington hosting a New Year's 2021 party. They did a countdown and everything. It was odd, as was seeing that Nirvana T-shirt in the background.

David Space as Joe Exotic

The video segment showing what celebs have been doing in quarantine was possibly the most genuinely enjoyable segment of the entire show. (Margo Martindale drinking wine while gardening? Pure excellence.) The weirdest moment in that collection, of course, came when David Space showed up in the end with his impression of Tiger King star Joe Exotic. Spade had previously been hesitant to parody the incarcerated Netflix star, though millions of Joe Dirt fans basically demanded it to be so.

Tracy Morgan As Tracey Ullman

Instead of giving audiences a still frame of Mrs. America nominee Tracey Ullman, the Emmys slotted comedian and The Last O.G. star Tracy Morgan to take her place, and it was predictably ridiculous. Morgan revealed that Tracys stick together, and not only was he there for Ullman, but he also apparently had comic detective Dick Tracy's back, too. And I'm betting he got Tess Truehart pregnant behind a preschool building, too.

Anthony Anderson's Censored "WAP"

black-ish star Anthony Anderson made quite an appearance when he popped up at this year's Emmys, delivering a race-inspired spiel about how this was supposed to be the Blackest Emmys ever – "hot sauce in your purse Black" – but that they couldn't even "get in the damned building." It was normal enough until Anderson brought up Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's hit song "WAP," and he said the song's title exactly once before censors cut audio for the rest of the joke. Quite the dry ass move for ABC, I'd say.

The One With The Friends Reunion

After the fire earlier in the show, Jennifer Aniston returned for a more enjoyable standout moment. Acting as if she'd returned home in order to see if she won the Outstanding Lead Actress award for The Morning Show, Aniston was joined by former Friends co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, who acted as if they had all been living in the same apartment since 1994. And then who else crashed that party? No, not David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry or Matt LeBlanc. It was Jason Bateman! That guy is everywhere!

Sterling K. Brown's Faux Speech

This Is Us' Sterling K. Brown was front and center for the last of many, many Emmy moments that would have at least felt slightly more normal had they been punctuated by live laughter and groans, instead of silence. Brown was all grins as he went through a faux acceptance speech as if This Is Us had won Outstanding Drama Series, before he later acknowledged that the show wasn't even nominated. All in all, it was a decent enough gag that Brown did well with, but it just felt bizarrely out of place in those circumstances, especially for the show-capping presenter.

Well, well, well. If there's one thing that can be said for all of these talk show interviews that are being done from people's homes, it's that we're getting to see and hear some truly intriguing things from our favorite celebrities. Of course, one could say that this was always the case whenever The Last O.G. star (and former Saturday Night Live cast member) Tracy Morgan showed up for...pretty much anything. This turned out to be very true recently when Morgan was interviewed by Hoda Kotb for Today, and her professionalism was almost derailed by his sex talk.

Tracy Morgan appeared on Today to promote the Season 3 premiere of his TBS comedy The Last O.G., and, even in these often serious times, we should have all been ready for him to say some incredibly silly stuff. Luckily the man didn't disappoint, but when you hear how he responded to Hoda Kotb's first question about dealing with life in isolation with his family, I think you'll agree that none of us could have prepared fully for his answer. Take a look!

Oh, Tracy Morgan. Thank you for always being your pure, weirdo, nasty self no matter what circumstances you find yourself in! Again, who could have guessed just how clear of a picture Morgan would paint for Hoda Kotb and the audience of what he's been doing while self-isolating with his family? Getting one's wife pregnant three times in as many weeks is quite a feat of biological superiority, though, so I suppose that anybody would be prone to bragging about it, should they do a live television interview during such a time of dominance. Is there some sort of fertility hall of fame we can induct the Morgans into?

Obviously, Tracy Morgan was being his natural jokester self, but I really love Hoda Kotb's nervous giggle as she attempts to steer the morning show conversation to something less sci-fi sexual. You can tell that she had no idea where her simple query might now lead, and she really wanted to bring it back around so that the interview wouldn't end up in some crazy sex hole (LOL! Made myself laugh for real. Writing is fun sometimes!), but Morgan had other plans.

As you can see, Tracy Morgan decided to double down on his sexytimes talk and detail he and his wife's very timely bedroom role-playing. I have two thoughts about this. First of all, I have no trouble believing that Mr. and Mrs. Morgan are spending some of their free time as a granddaughter desperate to save her sick grandpappy and the researcher who has the cure. But, secondly, you know they're not alone in this particular...enjoyment right now, don't you? Way too many folks have been watching Contagion and other such movies now for me to believe anything else.

It's good that Hoda Kotb is such a consummate pro, because she was, eventually, able to elevate her conversation with Tracy Morgan a bit. She got him to talk about his respect for everyone in the medical profession and other first responders, and even (Shocker!) got him to talk about his show a bit.

Kicking off with last year’s Dolemite Is My Name, Eddie Murphy has made a massive comeback to the R-rated comedy realm after 20 years away from the genre as he focused more on family-friendly fare and raising his kids. After a nostalgia trip of a Saturday Night Live return back in December, the actor is also set to play Prince Akeem and his other Coming To America characters in the upcoming sequel, and Tracy Morgan is joining him.

Following the 1988 classic comedy, James Earl Jones and Arsenio Hall will reprise their roles in Coming 2 America, but there’s an impressive cast with new roles as well. Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones are among them, alongside the 30 Rock comedian. Now Tracy Morgan is talking more about his character in the sequel. In his words:

In Coming 2 America, Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem will return to America to find his long-lost son LaVelle, who is reported to be played by Sorry To Bother You’s Jermaine Fowler. Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones is expected to be playing LaVelle’s mother, who had a one night stand with Prince Akeem back in the day. Tracy Morgan will be playing Reem, who seems to be the brother of Jones’ character and perhaps LaVelle's father figure.

When Tracy Morgan talked about his role in Coming 2 America during a video conference chat on The Howard Stern Show, he said he is ”big time in the movie,” suggesting Reem might be a pivotal character in the long-awaited comedy sequel. Coming 2 America is written by Black-ish’s Kenya Barris and directed by My Name Is Dolemite’s Craig Brewer.

Although there’s been quite a few movies that have been delayed from its intended release date due to COVID-19, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Coming 2 America. During the interview, Tracy Morgan said they made the movie at “the right time,” and when the virus situation is over, the release of Coming 2 America is “going to be the thing to do.”

When Eddie Murphy talked about Coming 2 America back in December, he offered some confidence in the movie, saying that it goes “above and beyond” with expectations and he’s “really, really happy with it.” Murphy is also planning to return to his role of Axel Foley for Beverly Hills 4 for Netflix and return to stand up.

Donnie Wahlberg has been starring as Danny Reagan for ten seasons on Blue Bloods. After all this time, he still has some surprises for fans of the CBS crime procedural. It turns out that Wahlberg keeps a surprising celebrity photo on his desk every season. Or, at least, for the past nine seasons, based on the information Wahlberg posted with his video.

Blue Bloods has been on the air for ten seasons, and Donnie Wahlberg has revealed that a celebrity's photo has been a part of it! When did this tradition start? It is not entirely clear. Regardless of when it began, there is a celebrity that Wahlberg keeps near and dear to him on Danny’s desk. Do you think you know who it is? Find out below:

Yes, that is a picture of 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan. He is not pictured as his character from the comedy, though. The photo that Donnie Wahlberg has is of Morgan in the 2010 buddy cop movie, Cop Out. In it, Morgan played NYPD Detective Paul Hodges. You know who also plays a detective with the NYPD? Donnie Wahlberg for his character on Blue Bloods!

That seems to be the main connection between the photo of Tracy Morgan in Cop Out and Donnie Wahlberg. I double-checked, and Wahlberg did not have a role in the movie, which would have been a potential link. Whatever brought Morgan’s photo to his desk, there is one thing that Wahlberg is not entirely sure of when it comes to the picture and his Blue Bloods character.

In the caption for his Instagram video, Donnie Wahlberg says that he is not sure if Danny Reagan loves it as much as he does. Let the competition begin! In the video, Wahlberg says there are a lot of TV cops. However, he wants to know how many others have an 8x10 picture of Tracy Morgan on their desk. Survey says: probably none!

It sounds like yet another reason for Donnie Wahlberg to get to do that CBS crossover he is interested in. If Wahlberg got to cross paths with NCIS: LA or Hawaii Five-0, he would be able to compare desks with his fellow TV cops. Maybe they also keep a picture of Tracy Morgan on theirs!

Tracy Morgan’s picture probably gets to see more of Donnie Wahlberg than one of his co-stars. Fellow Blue Bloods star, Abigail Hawk, revealed that she always gets asked about working with Wahlberg, but never sees him. It is just one of the many behind-the-scenes things that Blue Bloods fans have recently learned.

The truth about filming those family dinners is another recent reveal. Now comes this news about Tracy Morgan's picture being on Danny’s desk! I wonder why Donnie Wahlberg does not have the picture of Morgan framed. It would be the natural next step. That said, it is impressive that Wahlberg has kept the photo in such fantastic shape for nine seasons.

New episodes of Blue Bloods air Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. The crime drama’s tenth season is one of the many shows airing fresh this winter.

One of the most enduring cartoon series is almost ready to return to the big screen. A new animated Scooby-Doo movie is in the works and it's found some Grade-A talent to voice the iconic characters. Will Forte and Gina Rodriquez have joined the cast and they will be joined by Scooby-Doo voice actor Frank Welker and -- surprisingly enough -- Tracy Morgan as Hanna-Barbera character Captain Caveman.

There have been plenty of actors to voice Scooby-Doo characters over the decades that the cartoon has appeared, but it looks like the new animated film is going mostly for more familiar actors to voice the parts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Forte will voice Shaggy, Scooby-Doo's best friend and lover of dog treats. Velma, the brains of the bunch, will be voiced by Gina Rodriquez, while Scooby-Doo will be voiced by Frank Welker. Welker is a veteran voice actor and has voiced Scooby-Doo characters since 1969 -- starting with Fred, and as Scooby since 2002 -- so the talking Great Dane will largely sound the same.

And that's not all! Tracy Morgan has been cast as Captain Caveman, a lesser-known cartoon character. He really has nothing to do with Scooby-Doo but the new film will serve as a crossover between various Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. Captain Caveman appeared in Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, a soft parody of Charlie's Angels that found three teenage girls solving mysteries with a super-powered caveman they thawed from ice.

That's pretty solid cast right there. Will Forte as Shaggy is pretty spot-on casting, and Rodriquez's star has been rising ever since she starred on the CW's Jane the Virgin. Both of them are no stranger to voice work. Forte has voiced characters in The LEGO Movies, Bob's Burgers, and Cloudy With a Change of Meatballs. Rodriquez voices the titular character of Carmen Sandiego on the Netflix TV series. Tracy Morgan will be providing his voice for the Green Eggs and Ham TV show.

The plot of the new film will find the Mystery Inc. gang joining forces with other heroes of the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from Dick Dastardly and his evil plans. Dick Dastardly is a no good so-and-so from Wacky Races and was always up to nefarious schemes to win a race. He was always accompanied by his sidekick Muttley, an anthromorphic dog.

This is a pretty cool idea for a Scooby-Doo movie, seeing as how the character has basically drained the masked-man-scares-kids well dry. Plus, Scooby-Doo is no stranger to crossovers, having met Batman, The Three Stooges, WWE Wrestlers, Supernatural, and the Harlem Globetrotters over the years. I'm curious if kids today will care at all about old Hanna-Barbera cartoons, but it's certainly a fun idea.

The animated Scoody-Doo film is directed by Tony Cervone and will arrive in theaters in May 2020.

The holiday season is upon us, and that means a whole lot of festivity to be found on the small screen. For the December 18 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon brought a bunch of his old Saturday Night Live pals together (along with Ariana Grande) for a performance of their classic SNL song, "I Wish It Was Christmas Today." The song sketch first hit the airwaves back in 2000 as part of Season 26, with Horatio Sanz on guitar, Jimmy Fallon on keyboard, Chris Kattan on... holding the keyboard, and Tracy Morgan doing a little dance.

Tracy Morgan is always a gem on the small screen, and it's easier than ever to appreciate him after the terrible accident that nearly killed him. As this video proves, the man doesn't even need lines to be funny! His little dance was one of my favorite parts of the video, although there's a lot to appreciate in Ariana Grande's carefully unenthusiastic participation.

While it's a bit of a shame that Ariana Grande didn't sing along since it's always a treat to hear her belt, would "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" be as funny with an such a gifted singer performing?

I did get a kick out of seeing that Chris Kattan doesn't seem to be any better at keeping a straight face in sketches than he was in his SNL days. Honestly, Saturday Night Live bloopers with the cast members cracking up can be even funnier than the bits sometimes, and viewers could always count on Kattan cracking. Jimmy Fallon has gotten better about not breaking, which is likely due to how much time he spends in front of the camera.

Fans of the original sketch may note that the lyrics are a little tamer in this particular rendition than the lyrics that aired post-primetime on Saturday Night Live. For example, there was no mention of the CIA on The Tonight Show! For a blast from the SNL past, check out the original song from 2000:

If this put you in the mood for some sketch comedy, you'll have to look elsewhere than NBC for the time being. Saturday Night Live is off the air until 2019, and the latest episode actually had some sketches pulled by Lorne Michaels due to a social media post by current cast member Pete Davidson.

Now that Tracy Morgan has reestablished himself as a king of small screen comedy, as helped along by his Netflix stand-up special and his rocking TBS series The Last O.G., he is finally joining a very specific pop culture pantheon: guest stars of The Simpsons. That's right, the former 30 Rock star is getting Simpson-ized in Springfield for the iconic series' thirtieth season, and he'll be appearing in not just one, but two episodes. My money is on him getting Homer pregnant behind Springfield Elementary.

For his very first appearance on The Simpsons, Tracy Morgan will be lending his voice to the episode titled "My Way or the Highway to Heaven." In it, the actor will portray himself for a brief scene with a heavenly motif that is presumably in reference to the fact that he had an extremely close call with death after that horrifying traffic accident back in 2014. The comedian has been quite frank about the accident and the long recovery process that followed it, but we haven't seen anything quite like an angelic Morgan floating above Springfield, U.S.A. (EW has the first look at Morgan's upcoming appearance.)

Tracy Morgan's second Simpsons episode may prove to be a bit more substantial for the actor, though we can't quite be sure just yet. For the later installment "Baby You Can't Drive My Car," Morgan will voice a tow truck driver that'll meet up with Homer and Marge, presumably because someone's vehicle is temporarily unavailable. I really hope this one doesn't have anything to do with unfortunate car accidents.

Though Tracy Morgan hasn't ever appeared on The Simpsons before, he's no stranger to doing voice work on animated projects. (Or for puppet-based projects, such as Crank Yankers.) He's voiced characters on TV shows such as Animals. Where My Dogs At? and Mr. Pickles, and has been heard-and-not-seen on the big screen in Rio 2, The Boxtrolls, and The Star. Something tells me he won't have any problem finding his bearings here, despite the Simpson family's bad influence on others.

And let's not forget that Tracy Morgan also has a live-action role coming soon, as he's co-starring with Taraji P. Henson and many more TV-familiar stars in Adam Shankman's comedy What Men Want. In Morgan's case, that title would presumably refer to "getting Homer Simpson pregnant behind Springfield Elementary."

The Simpsons also recently revealed that this year's "Treehouse of Horror" episode will feature a segment that spoofs the Jurassic World films, the classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the multiple personality mystery The Three Faces of Eve. Accomplished actor and comedian Tracy Morgan has had a lot of ups and downs in his career and personal life over the years. His struggles with alcoholism made his life difficult for quite a while, and his health suffered. Not all stars are able to recover their careers after going through significant personal difficulties like those that affected Morgan even before the terrible car crash that left him in a coma. Morgan credits his work on NBC's 30 Rock with Tina Fey as having saved him, saying this:

Tracy Morgan played a character by the name of Tracy Jordan, who was based on Morgan himself in earlier days. Obviously Tracy Jordan's wackier characteristics were exaggerated from what Morgan got up to in real life, but Tina Fey and the others at 30 Rock were evidently inspired by what Morgan got up to in his days before joining the show. Fey herself would have had a window into his life, as she was a writer for Saturday Night Live during Tracy Morgan's time on the cast. According to Morgan's comments to EW, she didn't need to see him partying in the present to write Tracy Jordan, and so 30 Rock was a way for Morgan to keep busy and act out his previous crazy life without getting too wild for real.

30 Rock almost certainly wouldn't have lasted as long as it did without Tracy Morgan on board, and he clearly gave the writers the freedom to draw on even some of his most personal issues for the sake of the show. Tracy Jordan struggled with diabetes on the show, as Morgan has struggled with diabetes in real life, although Jordan's refusal to take his diabetes seriously on 30 Rock was played for laughs at first.

Unfortunately, Tracy Morgan was out of the comedy game for a while after a horrific limo accident left him comatose. He managed to make an incredible recovery and return to comedy (including a return to Saturday Night Live), and he'll star in a brand new sitcom called The Last O.G. on TBS. Morgan credits The Last O.G. with helping him return to TV acting in the wake of his acting, and it should be enjoyable to see him back on the small screen again.

Tracy Morgan has had a lot of time pass and things happen since his days as a Saturday Night Live cast member but for some of his fans, his characters are still fresh in their minds. In fact, Morgan, who is currently on a press tour to promote his new TBS comedy, The Last O.G., said one of the questions he's most frequently asked comes from one of his characters on the show, Brian Fellow. Morgan addressed the question in an interview, saying this:

Tracy Morgan said Brian Fellow is not gay, and that he has a wife and three kids. Morgan's factoid was never made clear in the Saturday Night Live sketches for "Brian Fellow's Safari Planet," which was a skit Morgan often performed on the show. The sketch centered around a Jack Hanna-type interview show hosted by Brian Fellow who, as the intro narration said, was an enthusiastic young man with a sixth-grade education and an abiding love for all of God's creatures. The sketches would usually result in an interview with an animal and animal expert who would be berated by Fellow with random questions that often made zero sense. Inevitably, Fellow would get so worked up that he would kick the guest off his program, but never was the character's sexual orientation discussed. Fans questioning Tracy Morgan on whether or not Brian Fellow is gay is a bit strange, considering none of the show's sketches ever touched on the possibility that could be the case. However, Morgan's SNL character did showcase several elements usually deemed stereotypical for gay TV characters, such as wearing lots of lip gloss, rocking a leopard-print ascot, and crossing his legs in just such a way. If part of Morgan's inspiration for the character came from the gay community, the actor didn't wish EW or his fans to know that.

Tracy Morgan has had a rocky relationship with the LGBT community, so it wouldn't be that surprising that even if part of his Brian Fellow character was meant to be a joke towards homosexuals, he wouldn't say so. Morgan's character on Saturday Night Live predated a controversial standup joke Morgan made in 2011, in which the actor said he would stab his son if he found out he was gay and didn't talk "like a man." Morgan faced a lot of backlash for the joke and has since apologized for telling it. Morgan mentioned the joke not long after this question in the interview and said he still wished he could take it back to this day.

We've known for a while that one of the fan-favorites from the acclaimed NBC comedy 30 Rock was headed back to TV. Viewers were ready to see where Tracy Morgan would go following the sitcom's conclusion in 2013. Unfortunately, a car accident in 2014 left Morgan severely injured. Morgan has since recovered and already appeared in a few different projects, but he is set to make a real comeback in a big way on his TV show, The Last O.G., set to air on TBS. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Morgan back on TV. His new show is experiencing some behind-the-scenes trouble and has lost its showrunner.

Per Variety, executive producer and showrunner John Carcieri has departed The Last O.G. No reason was given for Carcieri's departure. The Last O.G. was originally scheduled to air on TBS next week, but now it has been delayed to debut sometime in 2018. Previously, Carcieri was a writer on HBO's Eastbound and Down and Vice Principals. He also co-wrote the feature film The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter. No new showrunner has yet been announced.

The Last O.G. is set to star Tracy Morgan in the lead role as a man who returns to Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant, only to find that it has become overrun with hipsters and gentrification. Following his six-car traffic accident in 2014, Morgan binge-watched Key and Peele while recovering. The comedian loved the show and reached out to Jordan Peele about developing a series with him. Originally, the project was being developed for FX but it has since moved over to TBS. The show also stars Cedric the Entertainer, Ryan Gaul, Allen Maldonado, and Tiffany Haddish.

This delay is sad news for anyone wanting to see Tracy Morgan back on TV sooner rather than later. The showrunner departing is never really a good thing, but perhaps the replacement will be a better fit. Morgan made his name on Saturday Night Live, but he really won people's hearts on 30 Rock (now streaming over at Hulu) as Tracy Jordan, an eccentric comedian based lightly on himself. With his clueless attitude, one-liners, and extravagant spending, he quickly became a fan-favorite character.

There's a clear strand of DNA shared by 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, as both are the brainchildren of Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey, both center on quirky female leads in cartoonish versions of New York City, and both feature robust casts of crazy characters. These similarities have led many to wonder it 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan will ever make an appearance on the Netflix series, but the comedian apparently doesn't intend to make the jump anytime soon. Speaking to CinemaBlend's Corey Chichizola while promoting his new Netflix stand-up special, Staying Alive, Morgan explained why he won't cameo on the series:

So, if you are holding your breath for Tracy Morgan to appear on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at some point in the near future, like when Season 3 premieres next week, then you will probably asphyxiate yourself. Between his new stand-up content on Netflix, as well as his upcoming TV series (which was delayed due to his tragic car accident, then jumped from FX to TBS), Morgan clearly has plenty of irons in the fire. With so much going on at the moment, it looks like his return to TV comedy will not involve reuniting with Tina Fey for any zany appearances on her latest hit series.

You would be forgiven for assuming that Tracy Morgan would want to cameo on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at some point. After all, plenty of other 30 Rock actors like Jane Krakowski and Jon Hamm have made the jump since Tina Fey's new show debuted in 2015. (Jack McBrayer was supposed to show up in Season 3, but there wasn't enough time to make it happen.) With so much crossover (and so much potential for even more crossovers), it would only make sense for fans to want to see a Tracy Morgan/Tracy Jordan-esque character show up to puzzle Kimmy with talks of impregnating household objects. He would probably drive Titus crazy.

While Tracy Morgan will not appear on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at any point in the foreseeable future, it is still comforting to know that he will remain a consistent presence on the streaming platform. Netflix has made enormous investments in a wide variety of stand-up comedians over the course of the last year or so, and the streaming service has gradually started to corner the market on the live comedy format. With the successes of specials for comedy greats like Louis C.K. and Dave Chappelle paving the way for Morgan's new special, it seems that the former 30 Rock star has found the particular niche he wants to inhabit on Netflix.

Tracy Morgan's Stayin Alive special is now available to stream on Netflix, and the third season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will debut on the streaming platform on Friday, May 19. It has been great to see Tracy Morgan back at it again following his accident. To see the comedian and actor mount such an amazing comeback in the past two years has been inspirational, as well as hilarious. Those who haven't been following this awesome journey will have to tune into Tracy's newly announced comedy special when it appears on Netflix on May 16.

The special, titled Staying Alive, will feature a Tracy Morgan stand-up special that he filmed in Red Bank, New Jersey back in October. Staying Alive features Tracy and his classic comedy style as he recounts his life following his accident in 2014. This includes learning how to walk again, coping with a traumatic brain injury, and "falling," for his physical therapist. Obviously, this is some heavy and personal stuff Morgan is getting into here, and it takes a special kind of man to have some fun at the expense of something like that. I can't think of too many comedians to tackle something so personal, other than comedian Tig Notaro talking about her battle with breast cancer.

The comedy special is the next big step of many as Tracy Morgan looks to restart his career and return to the life he knew prior to the 2014 car collision. Morgan recently had a role in the Charlie Day led film Fist Fight, and The Hollywood Reporter reports that the actor will also be starring in a TBS comedy series written by Jordan Peele. Having only officially returned to acting a of couple years ago, he's really pushing ahead with projects! It's definitely a far cry from what the world expected from him when news first broke of his accident.

Many remember the collision in June 2014, where a semi-truck collided with a car transporting Tracy Morgan, as well as others. The collision left Morgan with several broken bones and in a coma, and also took the life of Morgan's friend, comedian James McNair. Morgan recovered from the accident with some lasting brain damage, which he has now incorporated into his comedy. While it was undoubtedly a long road for Morgan to make it to this point, you wouldn't know it from his performances. It will be interesting to see the actor get back to his stand-up roots and return to entertaining audiences with his own material.

I think we're all rooting for Tracy Morgan to do a good job. Whether he intends it to be or not, his comeback story so far has been inspirational not just for those struggling with a traumatic brain injury, but for all those who have had to overcome obstacles in general. Tracy Morgan made a name for himself as a comedic powerhouse on the big screen, small screen, and standup circuit over the years, but he had to take a break from showbiz after a tragic traffic accident back in 2014. He's taken his time working his way back to the spotlight ever since, choosing to focus on his recovery rather than on his career. Now, it seems that his recovery time has paid off. Morgan has signed on to star in a new series for TBS that could be perfect for him.

The new TBS show has yet to receive a title, but we can already tell that it has the potential to be hilarious. Tracy Morgan will star as Tracy, a man who has just been released from prison early on good behavior after 15 years. He discovers that a lot has changed in the world since he first went behind bars. His neighborhood in Brooklyn has been gentrified, his former girlfriend found a friendly and successful husband, and together they're raising Tracy's twin sons that he never knew existed. Tracy wants to make the most out of his new freedom by bonding with his children, but he lacks the means to support a life outside of prison. So, in a twist that should be worth laughs, Tracy will use some of the skills that he learned from the other inmates in prison to make a living in this new world.

TBS chose to forego the traditional pilot process and ordered the new project straight to series for 10 episodes, and it's easy to see why the network has so much faith. Tracy Morgan has proven that he has the comedic abilities as both an actor and a standup comedian to headline his own show, which has been designed to combine what works best out of Morgan's work as a standup with commentary on everything from race relations to the workings of crime and punishment in the United States. Morgan is on board as an executive producer.

The series has signed on more funny folks than just Tracy Morgan. Co-creators Jordan Peele of Key & Peele and John Carcieri of Vice Principals are also executive producers. Morgan and Peele actually began working on this project in early 2016, and it was then slated to air on FX. Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of Two and a Half Men fame will work as producers as well. TBS seems to have put together an all-star team to craft what could be a big hit of a single-camera comedy.

Hopefully the show will be able to find a solid cast to support Tracy Morgan on the new show. His promise to return to comedy is paying off in a big way, and it should be great to see him return to showbiz in an ongoing series. His fans should be thrilled that they'll be getting more than occasional appearances - such as the SNL hosting gig that gave him the confidence to continue moving forward as a funnyman - from him in the future.

While being funny is an enjoyable process, the world of stand-up comedy is not for everyone. Even though that was the world that the perma-raunchy Tracy Morgan carved his hole in for years - pun intended - his horrifying accident in 2014 was a life-changer in all meanings of the word. After waking from his coma, he took his time returning to the entertainment world, and one of Morgan's first post-accident highlights was a trip back to Saturday Night Live as a host last October. And it's that experience that the 30 Rock oddball credits with motivating him to get back on stage.

That's the kind of story that makes one want to stand up and start pumping a fist and wooting like an Arsenio Hall Show studio audience is nearby. Obviously all anyone wanted to know for certain was that Tracy Morgan was physically and mentally healthy in the days after his wreck, especially since he was also coping with the death of his friend and fellow comic James McNair. If he wouldn't ever feel good or comfortable enough to go back to talking about getting people pregnant behind adjacent buildings, that would be as respectable a decision as any. But let's give a hand to Saturday Night Live's cast - or at least what remains - for sparking the chuckle-inducing flame inside him.

Morgan shared this story on The Howard Stern Show, and it is downright touching to watch him tell it, because there isn't a single iota of anything disingenuous in his words. After all, Saturday Night Live is where he became a household name, and it led him to his hysterical primetime presence as 30 Rock's Tracy Jordan. It's excellent that he was able to find the ability to move forward comedically from a place so near and dear to him.

Now we just need to get Tracy Morgan back in front of cameras on both the big and small screen for years and years, keeping him focused and feeling alive. He'll be in Richie Keen's upcoming comedy Fist Fight with a ton of other funny people in 2017, and he is attached to play legendary comic Redd Foxx for an upcoming biopic. It’s hard to think of a single person who didn’t love the hell out of Creed. Although Sylvester Stallone ultimately didn’t get his Oscar for the long-awaited Rocky spinoff, it’s abundantly clear that we have seen the beginning of a new franchise led by Michael B. Jordan. There’s only one real question left: where specifically will the Creed franchise go from here? According to a recent skit from Jimmy Kimmel Live, it will see Tracy Morgan as the son of another iconic Rocky opponent, Clubber Lang. Check it out below.

Combining the comedic talents of Tracy Morgan and Jimmy Kimmel, the spoof aired during a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. In a similar fashion to last year’s Creed, the video shows the son of Mr.T's Clubber Lang from Rocky III – portrayed enthusiastically by Morgan – tracking down Kimmel’s version of Rocky Balboa. Hilariously mirroring many of Creed's story beats, Clubber chronicles Clubber Lang Jr. as he trains with his father’s aging rival and confronts his inner demons. Along the way the spoof lampoons numerous iconic moments from the Rocky franchise, such as training by eating raw (Cadbury Creme) eggs, and stabbing a heavy bag when punching clearly doesn’t seem to work. When it finally comes time for the climactic title fight, Clubber faces off against his father, portrayed with gusto by none of the than Mike Tyson.

The whole video utilizes Tracy Morgan’s comedic chops to their absolute potential; he channels his inner Tracy Jordan and dials the whole damn thing up to 11. It’s actually a fitting tribute; Creed revolves around ideas of redemption and self-discovery, something Morgan has had to do over the last couple of years. Following his tragic car accident in 2014, the legendary comedian disappeared from the spotlight in order to focus on his recovery and his eventual return to comedy. Now, like a champion prizefighter, Morgan has come back to the world with a damn near perfect spoof. Welcome back, Mr. Morgan.

Anyone who has even a slight interest in the iconic Rocky franchise and burgeoning Creed series would be wise to check out the clip above. It nails all of the iconic elements of Sylvester Stallone’s landmark boxing series, and has us wondering where it will go after Creed. We probably won’t see Clubber Lang’s heritage explored in a future Creed film, but now I’m honestly hoping that Adonis Creed makes a trip to Russia in order to hunt down the son of Ivan Drago for a future sequel.

Tracy Morgan was in fine form during his appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show on Monday night. The former 30 Rock actor spent a good chunk of time yelling about Chewbacca and even jokingly threatened to “go back” into a coma when he learned David Letterman is no longer on the air. In the video, Morgan spends some time ranting about Star Wars: The Force Awakens and how he’s “pissed” there only seems to be one black dude in the entire galaxy, even if that character happens to be as cool as Finn is. He then segues into a rant about Chewbacca not being “good,” because he’s not paying child support right now. This wild backstory isn’t legit, but it is awesome and if you haven’t clicked on the video, yet, you should know I really can’t explain Tracy Morgan’s unique and specific brand of comedy. Just watch it.

Or at least watch him slump down pretending to go back into a coma after learning Donald Trump is the man leading in the GOP polls right now.

And because a jokes is always better when called back later on, here's his second threat to reenter a coma.

Tracy Morgan’s had a pretty rough time in recent history. In June of 2014, he was involved in a horrific limo bus accident that left him first in a coma and later barely able to function physically without help. After undergoing a lengthy rehab program, Tracy Morgan appeared back in public during the Emmys ceremony this fall where he seemed in much better spirits and even cracked a few jokes. He later hosted an episode of SNL, which he had been a castmember on years ago. A few months ago, Morgan also joined the comedy Fist Fight, so he's been quick to reinvigorate his acting career.

On an unrelated note, can we please marvel at the fact that Tracy Morgan gets away with calling Jimmy Fallon “Jimbo” at the beginning of this video? When Tracy Morgan said he was back, he meant it and I’m so happy this video evidence of his return to good spirits exists.

Casting actors for biopics, where they will, by necessity, play people who actually exist, or at least existed, is a tricky proposition. Steve Jobs recently proved that you don’t necessarily need to cast someone who looks like the person in question, but they at least have to be able to capture the spirit of the individual. And all things considered, the Richard Pryor biopic that’s been in the work for some time, may have found the perfect person to play legendary comedian Redd Foxx.

Foxx was a groundbreaking, not to mention foul mouthed as all hell, comedian most known for his explicit comedy albums and the sitcom Sanford and Sons. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock alum Tracy Morgan will play him in the as-yet untitled movie. In a statement, Morgan said:

Set to be directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, Lee Daniels’ The Butler), Morgan joins a cast that already includes Mike Epps in the lead role, and Kate Hudson as his wife. Produced by The Weinstein Company, who no doubt have high hopes for awards glory with this one — it seems tailor made for critical attention and acclaim — the film also stars Eddie Murphy and Taraji P. Henson as Richard Pryor’s parents, and Oprah Winfrey as the grandmother who raised him. You know, it’s your basic no-name cast.

Redd Foxx was an influential figure in comedy, and especially so in the life of Richard Pryor. In addition to being a fearless performer who wasn’t afraid to take on social norms and push boundaries, he also ran a comedy club and gave the younger comic an early career break by letting him open for the industry veteran. Born John Elroy Sanford, Foxx even appeared in Harlem Night with both Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor in 1989, just two years before his 1991 death from a heart attack.

In 2014, Tracy Morgan was involved in a violent traffic accident that included the vehicle he was in, a Walmart semi-truck, and several other cars, in which he was seriously injured, breaking numerous bones and winding up in a coma. In the interim, he has been focusing largely on recovery and rehabilitation, and pursuing legal action against Walmart, but just last month he hosted Saturday Night Live, and has plans to launch a stand up tour next year.

We are T minus 3 days until Tracy Morgan makes his official return to Saturday Night Live and Tracy Morgan is already back on the set of the NBC program and getting ready for his big episode. Today, we’ve just been given a good look at the type of humor the comedian plans to favor during his big return, thanks to an amusing SNL promo. The video also features cast member Bobby Moynihan, and you can check it out, below.

In the preview, Tracy Morgan cracks jokes about impregnating those who work at 30 Rock where NBC is housed, proving he's back and ready for some comedy action. He also tells the audience that he’s excited about appearing on the Saturday Night Live finale this season, which is hilarious considering we’re only two episodes in so far, with Morgan slated to be the third host in Season 41. Moynihan reminds him of this fact, and Morgan has a clever response.

Getting invited to host an episode of SNL is invariably an exciting prospect for most celebrities, but in Tracy Morgan’s case, it’s an especially big event. Well over a year ago, Morgan was hospitalized in a horrible limo accident. Later, we learned he had suffered traumatic injuries and had even resorted to carrying a cane for a while. It was unclear if he would ever return to the world of comedy, but in June, the actor stated it was a goal of his. Now, just a few short months later, he’s about to be back in action. The Saturday Night Live stint is the first time the actor will appear on the stage for an extended gig, following a brief appearance at the Emmys.

Morgan should be a great fit for the SNL gig. The actor was a key player on the late night sketch comedy series for years before taking other acting roles, including NBC’s own 30 Rock. He’s also hosted an episode of the NBC series before, popping up back in 2009 during an episode where he did a “Scared Straight” sketch with Kenan Thompson and more. Doubtless, his return will be equally—if not more---memorable.

Tracy Morgan has been spending months on the sidelines since the highway collision that almost cost him his life back in June 2014, but now the comedian has decided that the upcoming feature Fist Fight will be his big return to the big screen. It’s a major addition to the cast of the film, which also happens to be putting together an impressive ensemble of stars. All in all, it suggests that it may be pretty much impossible for the movie to not bring the funny.

The Wrap were the first to confirm that Morgan is in talks to star in the already impressive sounding Fist Fight. I know what you’re thinking: surely no cast can be that strong. Well, the posse of actors that have joined together for the movie really is that impressive; so impressive that we’ve crafted the rundown below:

You can’t help but love Charlie Day. Having excelled in each and every season of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Day has now become a big screen commodity thanks to Horrible Bosses, Horrible Bosses 2, The LEGO Movie, and Pacific Rim. Because of this success he has now been tasked with leading Fist Fight, a film that’s being directed by Richie Keen. In the film, Day plays a mild-mannered teacher who gets himself into a kerfuffle with a more intimidating educator - who then challenges our protagonist to the titular combat. But what makes the film sound so intriguing is just who Day is going up against…

I’m going to put it out there and predict that if Charlie Day and Ice Cube actually did get into a fist fight, then the N.W.A. member would easily wipe the floor with his rival. But, since this is Hollywood, I’m not actually sure who will come out on top. Cube plays a much tougher teacher that winds up being infuriated by Day, and I’m already convinced that their dynamic will be spectacular.

At this point we’re still not too sure who Tracy Morgan will be playing in Fist Fight. I’m going to predict that he will be a teacher that is in between the pair as the dispute escalates. But even if he plays an incontinent janitor, I’m still just overjoyed to see him returning to big-screen fun. Morgan was last seen in Chris Rock’s impressive Top Five, while he has also appeared opposite Ice Cube in both First Sunday and Are We There Yet? Neither of which quite matched his career-defining turn in 30 Rock, though.

While we might not know who Tracy Morgan is playing in Fist Fight, it’s already been announced that Dean Norris, who most of you will recognize as DEA agent Hank Schrader from Breaking Bad, will be playing the school’s principal in the comedy. Fingers crossed that he’ll get involved in the bout at some point, because while Charlie Day will easily get decimated by Ice Cube, I think a Dean Norris fight with the rapper would be much more unpredictable.

Another reason to be excited about Fist Fight is the presence of the always hilarious and scene-stealing Jillian Bell, who will be playing a guidance counsellor. Like Charlie Day, Bell made her presence known on TV with Workaholics, but has now firmly established herself on the big-screen thanks to her performance in 22 Jump Street . She’s even turned into a stalwart of Paul Thomas Anderson’s work, having appeared in both The Master and Inherent Vice.

Production on Fist Fight is due to begin later this month in Georgia, but we’re still waiting for confirmation on when it will hit cinemas. Fingers crossed it will be at some point in 2016.

Saturday Night Live may have already passed its 40th anniversary milestone, but the series is doing a lot to make sure that Season 41 will be exceptional. On Monday, NBC announced that Season 41 will kick off with a couple of fun female guests and the return of Tracy Morgan to television. That’s right, one of 30 Rock’s biggest funnymen is finally headed back to the small screen.

Saturday Night Live won’t hit the schedule until October 3 this year, but when it returns, Miley Cyrus will be headlining the episode. Believe it or not, the “Wrecking Ball” singer will be hosting the late night sketch comedy series for the third time. That’s not too shabby for someone who is only 22 years old. She's also headlining the premiere to boot. The week after, Amy Schumer has nabbed the hosting gig, and she’ll make her hosting debut on October 10. Which leads us to Tracy Morgan. Morgan has hosted SNL once before, back in 2009 when he did a “Scared Straight” sketch with Kenan Thompson. More importantly, he was an actual SNL castmember for years and is well-known around NBC, having starred in the sitcom 30 Rock, which even earned him an Emmy nod. He'll be hosting the October 17 episode.

For more than a year now, Morgan has been sidelined, having been a part of a tragic accident that landed him in a coma for several weeks and killed his friend James McNair. The recovery has been long and difficult for Tracy Morgan, but a few months ago, the actor and comedian headed to Today, where he vowed to return to comedy again.

Morgan has still seen his name in the marquee over the past year, thanks to projects that filmed before the accident, including Top Five and Accidental Love. Still, he hasn’t officially appeared in a television show or movie since the accident occurred, unless we are counting his brief appearance on TV during his interview with Matt Lauer on Today. The SNL episode should get the actor back on his feet in terms of comedy gigs and will hopefully lead to more announcements down the line.

Tracy Morgan actually had a comedy project in the works with FX before the accident called Death Pact, which had been ordered to series shortly before Morgan’s limo bus accident. Hopefully, now that Morgan is back, FX will still have the space and budget for that comedy to move forward. We’ll keep you updated. It’s been a year since Tracy Morgan was in a terrible auto accident that put him in a coma for two weeks and killed his friend, James McNair. He appeared on Today this morning to discuss his recovery and his future, and according to him, a return to comedy is definitely in his future.

In an emotional interview with Matt Lauer, Morgan discussed the difficulty with his recovery. Near the end of the interview, when Lauer asked him what his goals were, Morgan mentioned this:

It’s good to hear that Morgan is doing well enough that a return to stage and screen are real possibilities. Morgan had been set for a new FX comedy series, Death Pact, barely a month before the accident. Afterwards, FX announced that the show was “on hold” but had not been canceled. One year later, we will have to see if the show is still looking to move forward once Morgan is ready. Morgan’s last film was Chris Rock’s Top Five, and he can also be seen in the recent Accidental Love. (Although it was just released, it was filmed seven years ago.) He’s also got one film role available if he wants it, as Kay Cannon, the script writer on the Pitch Perfect films, apparently has a place for him if Pitch Perfect 3 ever happens.

Morgan looked to be in good shape, considering the injuries he received when the limo van he was in collided with a Wal-Mart tractor trailer last year. He was carrying a cane and was obviously emotional over the death of his friend, who was known to many as Jimmy Mac. He broke down when speaking about him:

We look forward to seeing Morgan again when he’s up to it. While it may still be some time before he's ready to return to comedy, he seems to be healing well. However he returns, he will certainly be welcomed back warmly.

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan is ready to return to the public eye. Nearly a year to the day that a tragic six-car accident left him with debilitating bodily injuries and head trauma, the former SNL and 30 Rock star will reportedly reemerge on Monday June 1, for a live interview with Matt Lauer on NBC’s The Today Show. The sit-down occurs on the outset of a lawsuit settlement with Walmart, whose truck driver was responsible for the incident.

The upcoming interview should be quite the monumental moment, seeing as Morgan has been a virtual recluse during his apparently arduous recovery process. There was a period in time after the incident when he was apparently knocking on death’s door. Reports have indicated the long-term effect of his injuries were grave enough to require intense physical and cognitive therapy, leading to some speculation that he may never again be the gregarious getter of laughs we once knew. Of course, the Monday interview that puts it all on the line on live TV will certainly be revelatory in that respect.

News of the settlement between Morgan and other plaintiffs (who were also in the limo bus struck by the Walmart truck driver) would come just last night, prompting the reports of Morgan's media outreach. While actual amounts were not disclosed, the settlement was apparently cordial. According to Morgan by way of a released statement:

The amounts involved in the settlement must have been quite generous, gauged by that reaction. Additionally, Morgan's attorney Benedict Morelli appeared this morning on The Today Show to reiterate the praise for Walmart, even adding that the retail monolith’s 2.4 million employees should be proud to work for such a company.

The June 7, 2014 incident occurred early in the morning on the New Jersey Turnpike, where an allegedly sleep-deprived Walmart driver, at high speeds, rear-ended his tractor-trailer into the back of a limo bus containing Morgan and three other passengers, creating a chain collision. While the crash left Morgan and fellow passengers Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea with serious injuries, James "Jimmy Mack" McNair did not survive. The investigation from NTSB revealed the driver, Kevin Roper was running his truck at 65 mph during the crash and he remains set to face a number of criminal charges.

While speculation about Morgan's career may seem trivial compared to the serious challenges that he continues to face with his recovery, there’s no doubt that his legions of fans out there are hoping to once again see him grace the small and big screens to take in his signature, un-PC absurdity back to the public. While the accident sidelined him in the middle of 2014, he was featured in one project in the form of a 2015 film release, produced years earlier, called Accidental Love, a romcom starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hopefully we’ll see him reemerge, perhaps taking things slow with the FXX comedy series he had in the works pre-accident, or something back the film world. However, only time will tell if the extent of his recovery warrants such steps.
