I love a happy Christmas movie as much as the next person. I'll take a healthy serving of merry and bright any day. That doesn't mean I'm entirely opposed to my Christmas spirit come with a side of dark and twisty. As such, Tommy Wirkola's 2022 comedy Violent Night was right up my alley. I loved David Harbour's no-nonsense Santa as much as I loved seeing him disrupt what should've been a well-coordinated heist with his intense combat skills. Criminals better watch out once again, because Violent Night 2 is coming to town, and as the trailer reveals, Harbour is back as Santa, this time with Mrs. Claus. Let's go!

We've known this sequel has been coming for quite a while now, and in a matter of months, it'll be here! Helmed by Wirkola with a screenplay from Pat Casey and Josh Miller, Violent Night 2 is set up on the 2026 movie schedule for December 4, and has Harbour's Santa on the naughty list, having lost his magic, along with his faith in mankind. He can get one back if he manages to restore the other. Last time he faced a group of mercenaries, this time he's facing gangsters who pose a threat to a mall around the holidays. I almost feel sorry for them.

Yes, the plot sounds a bit ridiculous, and it is. The trailer plays that up, complete with a sleigh-full of violence and some truly stomach-churning scenes. I'm not sure what grossed me out more, the guy getting a gingerbread-man-shaped chunk of skin cut from his forehead, or getting stuffed into an oven while covered in cookie ingredients that make the smell of him baking smell, as Santa puts it, "amazing." It's stuff like this that reminds me of the scenes from the first movie that I had to watch between my fingers. I even brought it up last year when I was talking about watching Novocaine (another movie with some super gross bloody scenes).

In addition to violence, the trailer gives us a look at a character teased in the first movie: Mrs. Claus! Kristen Bell has stepped into the shoes of Santa's better half, and it looks like she's ready to join the fight. Kristen Bell is such a great pick for Mrs. Claus, as she's the kind of actor who can take on an action role and be super funny about it, which I'm guessing is what's in store here.

In addition to David Harbour and Kristen Bell, the cast also includes Joe Pantoliano, Daniela Melchior, Andrew Bachelor and Maxwell Friedman aka AEW's MJF.

As mentioned, Violent Night 2 arrives on December 4. Whether or not it's good enough to find a spot on the list of best Christmas movies, as the first one did, remains to be seen. At the very least, it looks like fine, messy, bloody, sometimes-gross holiday fun and I'm here for it.

One of the foundational truths of Comedy TV is that Danny DeVito is not afraid of getting weird and gross for the sake of Frank Reynolds earning laughs on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And we absolutely love him for it. His character's latest evidence of stomach-churning debauchery occurs during the FXX comedy's first big Season 18 trailer, as seen above, and if the implications are correct (not those, Dennis), Frank is totally making out with a dead body.

Before we even talk generally about Season 18 hitting the 2026 TV schedule or get into any of the trailer's other hilarious moments, we must first dissect what could be It's Always Sunny's most twisted episode yet, at least in some respects. It appears as if the amazing Carol Kane, who guest-starred in Season 17's Bachelor-infused finale, is still in Frank's life, to the point where they're getting married. Depressingly, Kane's lack of friends and family means that her trio of bridesmaids are Mary Lynn Rajskub's Gail the Snail, Mary Elizabeth Ellis' Waitress, and Artemis Pebdani's Artemis Dubois. I dunno about her, but I'd rather die than have those three at my side.

Okay, so she may have had the same idea, because after a couple of shots of Sam clearly in the land of the living, the tone changes and the wedding festivities become more funeral-coded. Just when you think the Gang might honor Sam's memory with any amount of respect, we see Dee. walking her down the aisle Weekend at Bernie's-style, leading up to Frank leaning in to stick his tongue in seemingly dead Sam's mouth as the crowd gasps in disgust. This is art, people!

Perhaps my favorite thing about this gross exchange of body fluids is Dee's gagging face in the top left. Always so good. Plus, if she's gagging, that definitely means Sam is dead, right? I don't think a whole crowd of people would react that strongly to Frank making out with an unconscious person (for better or worse). So unless she's just in a coma of some kind, I gotta think Frank is marrying a corpse in Season 18. I guess it makes for a cheap honeymoon.

Now let's jump to the second most disturbing thing in the trailer, which somehow isn't the McPoyle family. We're talking about Andrew Friedman's Jack Kelly, Charlie's uncle with major hand-related vulnerabilities. It looks like he's found a way to put his hands to work in a slightly less aggressive way, although I cannot imagine that Uncle Jack's ventriloquist act will be comforting in the slightest.

That said, I definitely still want to see what kind of act he's working with. And what the dummy's name is.

Elsewhere, the Season 18 trailer is filled with goodies, including the Gang getting all decked out to go to a Renaissance Faire, the Gang threatening a beer vendor's life for trying to sell them non-alcoholic suds, and the Gang playing some baseball.

There's also a big parade involved, with a float emblazoned with big images of Carol Kane's Sam and the late Lynne Marie Stewart, who passed away in February 2025, and who's portrayed Charlie's mom Bonnie Kelly for the bulk of the comedy's seasons. It's not quite clear what the reasoning for the event is, but even if it's just to get Charlie in this extravagent costume, it was well worth it.

Thankfully, we won't be waiting too long to see how grody all these episodes get, as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 18 will kick off on FXX on Monday, August 17, 2026, with episode streaming next day via Hulu subscription.

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart have spent so many years roasting each other that a new Jumanji trailer without some collateral jabbing would feel incomplete. Sure enough, Johnson used the rollout for the 2026 movie release of Jumanji: Open World, their final entry in the franchise, to introduce yet another nickname for his co-star: “Lil Toot Toot.”

The blockbuster movie star shared a promotional video on Instagram ahead of the trailer premiere, captioning it “Shut up lil’ Toot Toot” before directing fans to the evening’s Jumanji livestream with Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. The clip, as you can see below, shows the comedian's likeness seated behind a desk, wearing sunglasses and reading from a spiral-bound script, while a voice keeps steering the bit toward clowning on his co-star and friend. It is juvenile, unnecessary and completely on brand for these two.

This is hardly the first time they have turned a promotional moment into an excuse to needle each other, and it probably will not be the last. Their celebrity faux feud has become part of the friendship, whether Hart is joking about Johnson getting pulled over, trying to force his way into the billionaire club or mocking the size and spectacle of his action movies. Even when they are busy making films together, they always seem to find room for another jab. For these two, affection and trash talk are practically the same language.

The video itself is stranger than the insult. A large number of commenters accused the clip of being AI-generated, pointing to the Moana actor’s unusual-sounding voice and the comedian-turned-superstar's pretty uncanny appearance and movements. Others argued that only one performer had been altered, while some thought the whole thing was created by a computer. Which is pretty hard to argue with because the former WWE star's voice sounds off, stilted, and has a slight Dr. Phil twang to it that just does not sound right.

The post does not identify the clip as AI-generated, but that has not stopped online ‘sleuths’ from doing a bit of detective work. Though, admittedly, it doesn't take a software developer to recognize there is something... Uh, off… about the video. So, of course, the online detective work has produced more theories than answers.

What is clear is that the Dr. Smolder Bravestone performer personally posted it and remains committed to calling the Night School star “Lil Toot Toot,” regardless of what's going on with this video.

Fortunately, the actual Jumanji trailer gives fans something more concrete to examine. Open World brings Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Ruby Roundhouse and Professor Oberon out of the video game and into reality, where the avatars are stuck in “demo mode.” The new footage reunites Johnson, Hart, Gillan and Black, while Alex Wolff’s Spencer and the other players scramble to restore the boundary between the game and the real world.

The movie is being promoted as the final Jumanji adventure and also brings back Danny DeVito, Awkwafina, Nick Jonas, Bebe Neuwirth, Rhys Darby and the original dice from Robin Williams' movie. Jumanji: Open World arrives in theaters on Christmas Day 2026. That leaves Johnson and Hart several more months to keep the faux feud alive.

After years of waiting, we finally got a teaser for the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and it was filled with lots of characters and stories I’ve been waiting to see. However, it also inspired something within me, as I realized I want two characters who will surely play a big part in this fight against Sauron to form an “uneasy alliance” when the series returns on the 2026 TV schedule.

As you can see above, this trailer shows us Sauron forging “one ring to rule them all” and his armies going after Galadriel and many other important characters. We also get a good look at Gandalf (who found his name at the end of Season 2) and our first look at Galadriel’s love, Celeborn (who is played by Stranger Things’ Jamie Campbell Bower). Overall, it’s epic, and it’s inspiring a whole lot of theories and questions.

It’s also made me realize a dream I have: I’m desperate to see Galadriel and Gandalf work together. And I really hope it happens when Rings of Power premieres.

Up to this point in Rings of Power, we’ve seen Daniel Weyman’s Gandalf interact with Nori and the other Harfoots. Last season, he also shared some moments with Tom Bombadil. However, he has not spent time with any of the elves, dwarves or men in the series. I feel like that could all change in Season 3.

In the trailer, we see him having a conversation with The Dark Wizard:

• The Dark Wizard: Middle-earth will burn.
• Gandalf: Has it not yet occurred to you? Death might well be the price of saving it.

To me, this implies that the wizard will find himself and finally be thrust into the greater battle going on in Rings of Power. And I hope he does that by working with Morfydd Clark’s Galadriel.

In the teaser, we see her reunite with Celeborn, and it seems they’re on their own journey to take down Sauron. Personally, I’m hoping it will involve Gandalf.

The synopsis of this footage notes that Sauron’s quest will cause “new, and sometimes uneasy alliances to be formed to try and stop him.”

Considering Gandalf has only just found his powers and his name, I’d imagine he hasn’t fully harnessed them yet. And overall, he’s still a fairly mysterious figure in Middle-earth. Plus, during a conversation with Deadline last year, Weyman said he was excited to explore his character’s “plethora of possible pitfalls, errors and failings.” He went on to say that his wizard has to mess up royally to become the wise man we know in The Lord of the Rings movies and books. That seems like fertile ground for an “uneasy alliance,” and maybe one of those could be with Galadriel.

She’s right in the center of the fight against Sauron. Plus, she’s found herself in some precarious and uneasy alliances before – with her partnership with Halbrand going sideways in Season 1 when it was revealed he was Sauron, and her alliance with Adar proving to be quite useful (but dangerous) last season. So, I’d love to see her in another uneasy alliance, but this time, it’d be with an actually good character who is simply still figuring himself and his power out.

Plus, we know Galadriel and Gandalf become friends and work closely together, so it’d be amazing to see the origins of their relationship in this show.

Now, to see if this happens, you’ll be able to stream the first four episodes of The Rings of Power’s third season on November 11 with an Amazon Prime subscription.

All treats and no tricks today from DC Studios, with the first full-length trailer coming out for the upcoming horror movie Clayface, the third official DCU movie release from James Gunn and Peter Safran. With Tom Rhys Harries in the titular role, as well as that of actor Matt Hagen, this villainous venture looks like a great mix of body horror, Fugitive-esque police-dodging, and science gone wrong. Not your usual fare from a superhero studio, and I am obsessed.

Knowing Clayface’s place in the DCU timeline makes it easier to think about what Matt’s story will be, with Clayface’s arrival on Creature Commandos still in the character’s future. Although it’s hard to think about the future when the present is so horrifying for him. Speaking of, I gotta pinpoint the most squirm-worthy moment in the trailer right quick.

I Am Already Cringing From Matt Trying To Cut Through His Morphing Skin

This is the equivalent of any horror movie trailer moment where a blade or needle is being raised up to someone's eyeball. It's instant squirm city. This is fun twist on that, though, with the idea being that Matt is going to snip-snip-snip through the connective skin covering one of his eyes.

Theoretically, it might not hurt him at all, and the skin might just morph around the blades. But if that's not the case, then this scene could easily turn into a big bloody scream-fest. I'm hoping for the latter, obviously.

Will Clayface Give Us Fun Cameos From Club Vesuvius?

Several moments in Clayface's trailer are seemingly keyed up to be references to comic book characters and locations (or even writers, in the case of Len's Chicken, assuming that's a nod to Len Wein). But the most prominent reference to me is the night club Vesuvius.

It's not exactly as popular as Penguin's Iceberg Lounge or anything, but Club Vesuvius is a hot spot for certain characters known to lurk around Gotham City on occasion, and I'm hoping we get at least subtle nods to them in the movie.

One: Zatanna, who has been a regular attendee of said nightclub. It's probably too early to start bringing backwards-talking magic into the DCU, but if not, this is the best time to make audiences aware that she exists in this world.

Two: The owner of Vesuvius is two-bit criminal Johnny Sabatino, who is married to Peyton Riley, who took on the Ventriloquist mantle at one point. So if there's even a split second of a ventriloquist dummy or puppet somewhere in the vicinity, I'll be squealing with delight.

Clayface will join other 2026 movie releases when it hits theaters on October 23.

When Anthony Ippolito was cast as a young Sylvester Stallone for the upcoming 2026 release, Amazon MGM’s biopic I Play Rocky, he seemed like an understandable and fitting choice for this movie in a way that director Peter Ferrelly (of Dumb and Dumber and Balls Up) seemed like a strangely inspired one. But guess what? The first trailer has dropped, and it’s a surprisingly convincing trip back through time, and Ippolito is absolutely aces as its iconic subject, Sylvester Stallone.

As seen in the trailer above, the Purple Hearts star slides right into playing Sylvester Stallone without making it a parody or SNL-esque impression, and while also not just making it a fully Rocky-laden performance. There are layers here. Stal-layers, if you will.

Ippolito has been in the biz for years, but really made a name for himself with his take on a young Al Pacino in the cast of the limited series The Offer, and despite its limited capacity, it was a performance that was arguably better than the show as a whole. So it only makes sense that he could step into Stallone’s in-ring boots and bring the goods for this movie as well. I can only assume he’ll be playing Robert de Niro, John Turturro and Stanley Tucci over the next decade.

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Rocky’s release, so it’s a fitting time to revisit the inspirational tale of a smalltime actor who believed in himself like no one else would and scripted one of the most classic sports movies of all time, and created one of cinema’s most celebrated underdogs and champions. The character fronted six movies on his own, along with three Creed-centric spinoffs. I doubt we’ll get biopic representations for each of those movies, but Hollywood is unpredictable like that.

Beyond Anthony Ippolito, I’m absolutely loving Stephan James as Carl Weathers, which seems like another spot-on portrayal. (I hope he talks about making a stew, baby, for Arrested Development purposes.) The cast also includes such heavy hitters as Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, and Kiki Seto.

Peter Farrelly turned in what appears to be quite an inspirational and not-entirely-serious take on the struggles Stallone faced before his meteoric rise to fame on those Philly stairs. I can’t imagine the movie will be entirely free from fart jokes and juvenile humor — this is the guy who made Shallow Hal, after all — but it does look slightly less schmaltzy than Oscar winner The Green Book.

It was written by Peter Gamble, whose most recently produced script was for the 2018 comedy Office Uprising, co-starring Brenton Thwaites, Jane Levy and Zachary Levi. At least his words sound excellent coming out of Ippolito’s mouth, amirite?

I Play Rocky is set for a limited theatrical release starting on November 6, but will then open wide to theaters all over the country later that month. Which possibly means spending Thanksgiving sparring against turkeys hanging in a walk-in freezer. Or not.

For some time now, Tom Cruise has been teasing his next movie, Digger, a dark comedy directed by Oscar winner Alejandro Iñárritu. Some footage dropped earlier this summer and, based on that, Cruise’s titular character mirrored Tropic Thunder’s Les Grossman. Well, we finally have the first official trailer for the movie, and it’s somehow even more bonkers than I imagined. There are plenty of striking images and funny quotes, but I just can’t get the image of Digger’s cat out of my head.

The trailer quickly establishes the aging Digger Rockwell as an eccentric tycoon, who enjoys a lavish lifestyle. However, he’s quickly thrown for a loop when he learns that one of his drilling projects has started an environmental chain reaction that could spell the end of life on earth. What strikes me about this footage, which can be seen above, is the sheer scale of Iñárritu’s vision. Shots of floods, aircrafts and missile launches abound, and it’s clear that this is going to be the Birdman director’s biggest film to date.

Ironically, some of this material feels like it would be fitting for an installment of Mission: Impossible, which Cruise has since stepped away from. Personally, I’d imagine Cruise and Iñárritu are fully aware of that and may even be looking to lampoon elements of such blockbusters in that regard. Aside from the spectacle, though, there also seem to be plenty of quirky character moments acted out by the film’s capable cast.

The member of the ensemble that I can’t stop looking at, though, is Digger’s cat, who’s seen better days. In fact, it’s established early on that the feline doesn’t have long to live, which upsets his master. To say that this one-eyed furry friend is quite a sight would be an understatement, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being more essential to the narrative than teased.

Aside from the cat, though, what also sticks out to me is something quite obvious – Tom Cruise really seems to be going for it with this performance. He’s chewing up all kinds of scenery here, from trying to feed his pet peanut butter in bed to using his physical endowment to illustrate his drilling work. As Cruise explained at CinemaCon earlier this year, Rockwell was a role 40 years in the making for him, and he even dropped an enthusiastic F-bomb when he saw what the character would look like.

Iñárritu, who also co-wrote the script, praised Cruise’s performance as well, opining that while he’d pulled off plenty of massive stunts on camera, this role may have been his biggest risk. Of course, the Revenant helmer also deserves credit, as this is yet another major swing for him as well. Comedy and spectacle seem to be colliding in a great way, based on this trailer, and it’s also already clear that the director and his co-writers are injecting a bit of social commentary into this environmentally and politically-tinged story.

Of course, we also have to mention the rest of the cast, which includes John Goodman (who was mildly injured amid production) playing the President of the United States. Honestly, I can’t think of a better role for the incomparable Goodman in a romp like this one. Also part of the ensemble are Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Michael Stuhlbarg and Emma D’Arcy, who praised Cruise’s work.

All in all, this first trailer delivers, as it expertly establishes the tone, lays out the premise and highlights its leading man in a big way. I can’t wait to see what Tom Cruise brings to the role of Rockwell and, if this footage is any indication, there’s a chance it could be Cruise’s finest performance of this decade. He’s sure to be a scene-stealer, but I also expect that cat to delight (and somewhat unnerve) audiences as well.

Digger opens in theaters on October 2 as part of the 2026 movie schedule.

The 2026 movie schedule has already had some bangers, but man, I think I just found my official most-anticipated of the bunch for the second half of the year now that we have a fresh trailer for Dune: Part Three We just got the most epic look at Denis Villeneuve's trilogy finale yet, and it has me thinking about what dark arc is on the horizon for Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. Thankfully, the actor himself shed some light on what’s coming.

CinemaBlend attended Dune: Part 3’s global fan event at the AMC Burbank in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday morning. We were among the first to see the movie’s new trailer along with witnessing an exclusive conversation between Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet. Check out the trailer here:

Y’all, the chills I had seeing this in IMAX with an audience! I’m not going to be OK after this movie… and I cannot wait. The new footage really focuses on the fallout of Dune: Part 2, where Paul broke the heart of Zendaya’s Chani by deciding to marry Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan. He did so to take the throne as the Padishah Emperor – officially choosing power and war over anything else.

It certainly seems like Paul is going to the dark side here, so I’m happy that the event’s moderator Brittany Broski asked Chalamet if Paul is stepping into his “villain” era now. Here’s how the Oscar-nominated actor responded:

The writing was on the wall in Dune: Part Two that Paul maybe wasn’t going to be the hero of this story anymore, and in Part Three the ramifications of this will all come to a head. The trailer also sets up what’s going on with Robert Pattinson’s role of Scytale, who decides to execute a plot to dethrone Paul and involve the Princess.

I also think the trailer insinuates that Chani may actually be the one to go head-to-head with the Emperor by the end of the movie after things have gone bitter between them. Chalamet also said this about what’s going on with Paul and Chani during the event:

Part Three's main plotline takes place a couple decades after the second movie, and also features Anya Taylor-Joy as Paul’s sister, Alia. The franchise newcomer has called the role “very intense” and I can see why. While the first Dune: Part Three trailer got me excited, this second one has me moving the movie to the top of my list of 2026 movies I’m hyped for. A big part of that is Paul's nuanced arc across the trilogy being concluded. I mean, and this new poster? Check it:

During the event, we were also treated to an exclusive look at the opening of Dune: Part 3, which will be playing in front of IMAX screenings of The Odyssey next weekend. It had Javier Bardem’s Stilgar and some other men being thrust into an intense battle sequence in the rain. I’d imagine he’s operating under the orders of Paul after embracing him as the messianic Lisan al-Gaib at the end of Dune: Part 2. It doesn't show the whole battle sequence, so now I'm left wanting to watch the whole thing.

We'll have to wait for the final Dune film until December 18!

To me, the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice is a romantic masterpiece that is hard to top. It’s a top-tier romance adaptation, and Keira Knightley’s performance in it is utterly iconic. However, now, a new book-to-screen adaptation of a Jane Austen novel is coming, and I think it could live up to the expectations set by the 2005 movie. That’s right, the trailer for the new Sense and Sensibility is totally for the lovers of Knightley’s Pride and Prejudice.

Now, notably, this new movie is produced by Focus Features, the studio that made 2005’s Pride and Prejudice. So, I figured Sense and Sensibility could have a very similar feel to its fellow Austen adaptation.

However, there’s more to it than that. Daisy Edgar-Jones is leading this project on the 2026 movie schedule with a charm and strong-will that reminds me so much of Knightley’s performance as Elizabeth in the great film from the 2000s. I think she’s going to effortlessly lead this movie as Elinor Dashwood, and this trailer proves that the Normal People star was made for period romances. Sincerely, she was born to be a leading lady in a Jane Austen adaptation, just like the Pride and Prejudice star was.

Of course, we can also compare this upcoming movie to 1995’s Sense and Sensibility, which starred Emma Thompson. However, to me, the overall look and energy of 2026’s adaptation is more reminiscent of 2005’s Pride and Prejudice. That’s thanks to the warm cinematography, the eclectic chemistry between Edgar-Jones and George MacKay, and the Twisters star’s overall performance.

Now, with all that said, let’s dive into some of the details about this new movie that’s described as “a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood.” Alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sense and Sensibility stars George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings. Georgia Oakley is the movie’s director, and it was penned by Diana Reid.

Notably, two of Sense and Sensibility’s producers, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, were also producers on Pride and Prejudice. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, both projects were made by Focus Features. So, it’s not shocking that the parallels are so strong between the two films.

However, it also feels like this movie will give us a take on this story that’s very fresh. It has a team of up-and-coming artists behind it, and they’ve assembled an ensemble cast of established stars and promising new names. So, yes, I do think that this will be an “irresistible new take on Jane Austen’s iconic” story, as the film’s synopsis states.

With all that said, it’s time to get excited for Sense and Sensibility. I really think we’re in for a period romance for the ages, and you better believe I’ll be seated in the theater on October 16 to see it. In the meantime, I’ll be re-watching 2005’s Pride and Prejudice.

We may be mostly through Rick and Morty Season 9, but that doesn't mean the fun stops on the 2026 TV schedule. The President Curtis spinoff is on the way, and it looks like the series based on one of the flagship show's best side characters will differentiate itself by embracing the paranormal creatures of Earth. And, to put it quite simply, I'm pumped!

The latest trailer for the series, which can be seen above, shows lots of wild cryptids, including a werewolf, mothman and even Cthulu. I was initially worried about whether the fictional POTUS was up to handling these types of threats without Rick and his grandson along for the ride. However, it looks like he's doing just fine and carving out his own unique lane in the shared universe.

While Rick And Morty Deal With Space, President Curtis Seems To Lean More Into Cryptids And Earthbound Threats

While it's entirely possible that President Curtis will have feature a cosmic adventure or two, the trailer gives the impression that the titular politician and his agents will lean into tackling threats that are tied to Earth for the most part. Given that, I would expect we won't be seeing him hop between dimensions or planets, as they do on Rick and Morty.

I almost get X-Files vibes from the trailer, except for the fact that there's no Agent Scully frequently insisting the paranormal doesn't exist. Still, I'm really digging the vibes here, and the creative team should be lauded for taking things in a new direction for this show. I wouldn't be surprised if this writing staff has been around for Rick and Morty's best episodes, so I'm confident that they can produce some truly entertaining stories.

Do Rick And Morty Exist In President Curtis' Universe?

Given the uniqueness of this series and the copious amount of universes in Rick and Morty, though, I do wonder if President Curtis if that aforementioned duo even exists in this continuity. After all, fans now there are more than a few universes where Morty and Rick have died, one of which the current Rick and Morty reside in.

I think an interesting twist would be that President Curtis is set in a separate universe from that of the Rick and Morty series and fans will be treated to different versions of those two characters. I know we already get a ton of different Ricks and Mortys via the main show, but it'd be cool to see a couple stick around to do more than serve as the basis of a one-off joke.

Usually, I'd be a bit wary of a spinoff happening this deep into its parent show's run. However, with Rick and Morty delivering some of its best episodes in Season 9, it feels like the writing team has only scratched the surface of comedy for this franchise. Here's hoping the well is just as deep with President Curtis, and it becomes like American Dad is to Family Guy.

President Curtis premieres on Adult Swim on July 26th, with episodes becoming streamable the next day for those with an HBO Max subscription. We'll see if this spinoff lives up to the hype it's built so far, and if Adult Swim has yet another hit series on its hands.

Walt Disney Animation Studios just dropped a first look at Hexed (check out the trailer in the video above), and it’s instantly one of the upcoming Disney movies I’m very excited for. We’ve definitely seen our share of stories about young witches coming into their power like this, but if I were a kid right now, Hexed would become my whole personality. I’m talking about owning a backpack, Halloween costume, notebook… the works. With that being said, there is something about the movie I’m just not buying.

The trailer instantly brands its main character Billie as an outcast who doesn’t fit in at school. As she walks through the halls of what looks to be a prep school of some sort, people call her a “freak” and make fun of her appearance as the voiceover has her saying this:

And, look, I know teenagers can suck sometimes, but I’m looking at her character design, and she looks too genuinely cool to have a storyline where no one likes her, in my opinion. I know I’m not so out of touch that punk rock isn’t still punk rock. Billie is the kind of character I would have not only idolized as a kid, but while she’s clearly different from her classmates, I think she’s a bit too polished to be the school freak.

On the other hand, I get why this is her characterization. The movie tells us right off the bat that Billie will discover she’s got magical powers and learn how to hone them in order to be “something more” than she ever thought she could be. I totally get why that would be the way into this story, but the whole time I watched this, I was thinking about how much I want her outfit and hair color, and I know I’m not alone.

Now, on the other hand, this is just a first look. We don’t fully know the context of Billie’s character setup, and why everyone thinks she’s such a “freak” might stem from a past of magical accidents at school or some other incident. Then again, I kind of wish Disney went for a character that’s not classically likable from an aesthetic standpoint if they wanted to explore this storyline. They could have leaned into that a bit more rather than making her look absolutely on trend.

And now with Hexed officially Disney’s fall release on the 2026 movie schedule, I can’t help but think about how Disney’s latest era has been less about movies about princesses and more focused on young women with magical powers, just in different contexts. In Frozen, Elsa has ice powers that she cannot control, and she learns to embrace them by accepting herself. Then there’s Moana, who is chosen by the ocean to complete an important quest and must rise to the occasion. In Encanto, Mirabel is the only member of her family not to have magical gifts, and the movie follows her as she discovers that her empathy is her greatest power. So, I'm looking forward to seeing how Hexed explores this.

Despite my nitpick, I think Hexed is going to be a ton of fun, and I’m hyped for another Walt Disney Animation original after their last release, Zootopia 2, and the next two Disney movies, Toy Story 5 and a live-action Moana. The movie is officially hitting theaters on November 25.

The first trailer for Shrek 5 is here, and I can't believe I didn't see it roasting one of the more current fairy tale stories coming. The latest sequel sends Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and his children to "Further Further Away," where, apparently, jokes about Frozen can happen.

It's a quick but unforgettable moment in the latest look at the long-awaited sequel, which is due out next year after the upcoming movies in 2026 wrap. As Shrek and company arrive in the new city, they're propositioned by a shady-looking snowman in an alley, who looks close to but distinctly different (likely for legal purposes) from Frozen's Olaf. He says:

It's hilarious, and exactly what I want from Shrek 5. Frozen came out three years after the last Shrek movie, and now I'm just sitting here wondering what other fairy tales may be parodied from the Disney family. Will we see the film take a shot at the live-action Moana remake? I'm crossing my fingers and toes the answer is yes, but in the meantime, I'm loving this snowman:

I also couldn't help but notice Fiona hitching a ride from a green witch while mermaids breached the water below them. I'm wondering if this means we're also going to get some references to Wicked, or at the very least The Wizard of Oz. It's funny because I just assumed Shrek would lean on the old fairy tales for its upcoming movie, and didn't even realize there was fresh content to tackle.

The more bizarre realization for me is that Shrek is older than Frozen, and has now come full circle to parody the popular Disney film. Heck, Shrek is so old the franchise's characters got a considerable facelift in the way of animation changes, which are apparent in this latest look.

As for what the plot is about, we've heard that a Donkey-centric spinoff is in the works. My guess is that it'll set the stage for him to strike off on his own, maybe with Further, Further, Away being his new home with Dragon and his kids. Speaking of which, where are they, and some of the other beloved characters? I'm going to be sad if Pinocchio isn't back!

Of course, there's also plenty else to love about this trailer, including the Gingerbread Man getting a BBL thanks to some new gumdrops and icing on his butt. It's the perfect vibe I expected from this movie, and I can't wait to see it come next summer.

Shrek 5 is in theaters on June 30th, 2027. It may seem "further, further away" than other movies, especially after it dodged Avengers: Doomsday, but with so many great movies out right now, I'm not complaining about waiting a bit to see this one.

I'm a lot of things, and a proud cat-person is one of them. I'd say that I own two cats, but let's face it, they own me. Anyone with deep-seated feline appreciation knows this is their world, and we're just living in it. That the upcoming Disney/Pixar movie is called Gatto -- the Italian word for cat -- was enough to have my interest piqued, but the teaser Disney just released has me sold that this movie understands the assignment.

Pixar's Gatto is set in Venice, Italy, and will center on Nero (Mark Ruffalo), a cat who's taking stock of his life -- or lives, as it were. The plot description promises an "unexpected friendship" forming for our hero in search of his purpose; however, the teaser doesn't dive deeply into what we can expect there. Instead, we get a glimpse of Nero and mob-boss cat Rocco (Laurence Fishburne), as they interrogate a rope-bound cat about some missing tuna. It seems like a very intense situation, until all three cats get distracted by the dangling pull-string from the ceiling light.

This is exactly the kind of humor I was hoping we'd see from the movie, and I can't wait to see more footage as the release date approaches. There are so many opportunities for great cat jokes and nods to feline behavior. Thinking back to a recent Pixar release, I thought Hoppers did a great job of tackling some funny (and occasionally dark) aspects of animal life. From this Gatto teaser, I'm especially optimistic that we'll get lots of great cat jokes. As for what we can expect from the plot, hopefully it won't be long before we get a proper trailer for the film to better introduce us to Nero and his story.

As much as I wish Gatto were arriving not he 2026 movie schedule, we'll have to wait until next year for this one, as it's set to release on March 5, 2027.

It’s a big year for book-to-screen adaptations, but I’ve never heard a story about how a bestseller was turned into a movie like the one for Whalefall. The thrilling novel from Daniel Kraus became a New York Times bestseller back in 2023, and is already a movie on the 2026 release calendar thanks to the very modern way the author pulled in the Whalefall filmmaker into the movie’s premise.

CinemaBlend heard this story while we were at the trailer launch event for Whalefall in Los Angeles, CA on Monday night. Here’s what writer/director Brian Duffield said about how he stumbled on making the movie:

Isn’t it wild how a single post on social media can inspire a filmmaker into making a whole movie? The Whalefall trailer just dropped online by 20th Century Studios and can be seen in the video above. As Duffield continued:

Whalefall is about a young man named Jay (played by Austin Abrams) who used to scuba dive a lot with his father Mitt (Josh Brolin), but they didn’t have the best relationship. When Mitt dies in the ocean, Jay goes on a scuba dive in search for his dad’s remains, but instead he gets swallowed by a whale. Duffield also added this when talking about adapting the material:

Whalefall is a thriller that tackles Jay’s grief associated with losing his father, but on a visual and technical level Duffield needed to make the experience of being swallowed by a whale feel immersive and realistic. He could luckily lean on the research that Whalefall’s author already did for the book. As a book worm myself, I know I'm very excited by the idea of the author being so close to the movie, along with the unique concept itself.

When talking about Whalefall, Brian Duffield also likened it to two of the best space movies The Martian and Gravity, since both movies also involve a person dealing with intense emotions while getting stuck somewhere. It’ll be interesting to see how Whalefall compares to these films with the main character spending most of the movie stuck inside the belly of a whale rather than in space.

Oh, and you know a little movie called Weapons? It was one of our favorite movies of 2025 and starred both Abrams and Brolin. We can’t wait to see this reunion between the actors in a completely different film. Whalefall is coming to theaters on October 16.

On the heels of two historical epics — 2023’s Napoleon and 2024’s Gladiator II — Ridley Scott is making a welcome return to the sci-fi genre with The Dog Stars, with Oscar nominee Jacob Elordi as its lead alongside Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. The first full-length trailer has arrived, as seen above, and while I’m not sure this new action movie will be the one to give Scott his Oscar dues, it does look exciting as all hell.

And yeah, a big chunk of my excitement stems from the brief, mysterious, and arguably fetching shots of Oscar and Emmy winner Allison Janney in there. But we’ll get to her shortly.

The Dog Stars' Post-Apocalypse Looks Peaceful Until It Doesn't

Ridley Scott is taking viewers into a far different near future than the settings of his most classic science-fiction films. (Namely Alien and Blade Runner, but we can throw in The Martian and one other of the reader's choice.) Those familiar with the book-to-screen film's source material, Peter Heller's 2012 novel of the same name, are in the loop on the global pandemic that largely wiped out the population. Early on in the trailer, life appears tough but almost strangely idyllic, in a "Back in the good ol' days" kind of way.

As Hig, Elordi is a former pilot making a go at survival with Bangley (Brolin), an ex-Marine with an edge, and Cima (Qualley), a medic with an eye (and heart) for Hig. Unfortunately, it isn't long before the peaceful facade is revealed to be just that, and the bonkers-looking threats are revealed.

The Dog Stars appears to be the first 2026 movie release to go all-in on using night-vision as a visual aesthetic, which seems like a brilliant plan to play into the bizarre looks of the more feral survivors that seem to be overtaking any area they go running into. It seems like they're all still maintaining human traits, though, and haven't gone all Rage virus-zombie. But in those shots, they also look like members of a trippy Toxic Avenger tribute band, so who knows?

Whatever the case, as soon as the trailer gets intense, Jacob Elordi lights it up in what could very well be the role that sends him into a more action-heavy career path. It's a character that Brolin would have been great for had this been made 20 years ago, and Elordi fills the space quite convincingly. His performances in historical dramas and romances don't exactly scream "bad-ss," but it's a good look, and it can only help his Bond chances, if those rumors are to be believed.

Whatever Is Up With Allison Janney's Character, I'm All For It

The fourth-billed star of The Dog Stars, Allison Janney only appears fleetingly - still more so than Guy Pearce and Benedict Wong - but those quick shots are enough to spark some obsessive feelings. Totally normal ones, though! Well, mostly.

I mean, she instantly stands apart from other characters, in that she's basically in head-to-toe Pan Am flight attendant cosplay, while everyone else is dressed in the usual drab looks that accompany apocalypses. She's also tending bar, which feels like it has to be a major luxury in a world so broken. In large part because there's electricity there, as opposed to other settings shown in the trailer. Speaking of...

Okay, so Janney's unnamed character has both booze AND cigarettes, so she must be royalty or something. And bar lights are certainly not the extent of her electricity usage. As seen above, she apparently has access to security camera footage, presumably to make sure none of the wild shirtless people come trying to take her stuff. But how does she have all of this, while everyone else is slumming it?

That's the part I'm really obsessing over, and definitely not Janney in that blue get-up with a martini glass in her hand. Definitely not that. Now somebody open a window in here or something.

The Dog Stars is set to release in theaters on August 28, 2026.

Buckle up and make sure your Prime Video subscription is in good standing, because this new 2026 TV show looks like a fun one! Amazon's streaming service dropped the trailer for their new series starring Octavia Spencer and Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham, and it looks like it's going to be a wild ride. In fact, based on the vibe of the trailer (above), I think this is exactly the kind of series I'm going to need this summer.

You know that best friend you call your ride or die? What if they put that phrasing to the test? Ride or Die comes from Matt Miller (as showrunner) and director Peyton Reed (who helmed the Ant-Man movies for the MCU), and stars Spencer and Waddingham as Debbie and Judith respectively, two besties who end up on the run when someone from Judith's assassin-past resurfaces. Considering Spencer's character had no idea her best friend of twenty years was once an international assassin, they clearly have some things to sort out while also trying not to die.

I'm not going to lie, this trailer looks loads of fun. I love that the premise involves a decades-long friendship between two women who know each other inside and out -- or think they do -- and then find themselves caught up in mayhem together. And seeing these two icons playing the leads in a fun action caper already had me sold on watching. I really didn't consider how badly I needed a show starring these two iconic actors facing off against big bad guys until I watched Prime Video's preview for the series.

All eight episodes of Ride or Die hit Prime Video on July 15. The cast also includes Ed Skrein, Calam Lynch, Savannah Steyn, Jamie Parker, Jacky Ido, Sylvia Hoeks and the great Bill Nighy.

When Enola Holmes 3 premieres on Netflix’s 2026 schedule, we’ll be faced with a big mystery and a big life event. In this latest film starring Millie Bobby Brown as the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, her personal life and professional dreams will get all tangled. That became clear after watching the teaser, too, especially since my biggest question about this movie (seemingly) has nothing to do with the big mystery.

Why Is Enola Surprised By Tewkesbury’s Proposal?

Now, we knew going into Enola Holmes 3 that it would be darker and more grown-up than the two films you can currently stream with a Netflix subscription. However, the teaser makes that fact very clear, as it primarily focuses on the fact that Louis Partridge’s Tewkesbury has proposed to Enola.

It seems like she’s questioning this proposal too, as she says directly to the camera in the trailer:

Well, that’s fascinating, because the trailer starts with them living happily together. So, why would the titular character be unpleasantly shocked by her partner popping the question?

It’s also surprising because this reaction and their relationship are central in this teaser. Arguably, their romance is more central than the fact that Henry Cavill’s Sherlock has been kidnapped.

So, I’m left wondering why Enola was surprised by the proposal. I also can’t help but wonder how his impending wedding will impact the film’s central mystery.

I’m Sure This Proposal Will Have Something To Do With The Mystery

Overall, this trailer seems to highlight two different conflicts Enola has to deal with. One is her impending nuptials. The other is her brother’s disappearance.

Notably, the footage spends significantly more time covering Enola and Tewkesbury’s relationship than Sherlock’s kidnapping. So, that leads me to believe that this proposal that surprised our leading lady has something to do with the bad things that are happening.

It also seems that Enola will spend a lot of the movie wearing a wedding dress and getting into all the action on the day she’s supposed to get married. So, even if the proposal isn't directly linked to the mystery, the mystery will impact this ceremony, it seems.

Therefore, I have to assume that her love interest and the next step in their relationship will play a massive role in this movie’s primary mystery. The film’s synopsis alludes to that idea too, as it says that Mille Bobby Brown’s character will go far away from London, “where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to see if my question and this mystery surrounding Sherlock collide. That’s because Enola Holmes 3, which is directed by Adolescence’s Philip Barantini, will premiere on the 2026 movie schedule on July 1.

Welp, possibly the weirdest looking show on the 2026 TV schedule has arrived, and it’s somehow topped the lunacy of Food Network’s Chopped Castaways. I’m talking about The Big Bang Theory’s long-awaited Cooper-free spinoff, the Kevin Sussman-led Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The first trailer was unveiled, as well as the date when it’ll be available to stream (via HBO Max subscription), and I’m almost too shocked and confused to react properly.

As seen above, the new series looks almost nothing like The Big Bang Theory, as it seemingly eschews the limitations of apartment and comic book shops sets for a far more expansive story. One that could possibly affect the fate of the entire planet. Or at least the parts of the planet that are immediately surrounding our lowly heroes: Sussman’s Stuart, Brian Posehn’s Bert, Lauren Lapkus’ Denise, and John Ross Bowie’s Barry, though the latter seems to be less in hero mode when he first pops up in the….’twailah.” (I couldn’t help myself.)

The series will land on HBO Max on Thursday, July 23, and it's going the primetime route by releasing eps at 9:00 p.m. ET, as opposed to dropping them in the A.M. hours. It makes sense, though, considering Big Bang Theory ruled over Thursday night primetime for years, and then passed that mantle on to its first two spinoffs, Young Sheldon and Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. If it wasn't set on Thursday night, would it really be a BBT offshoot?

But that's about the only predictable thing to say about the trailer and this show in general. The storyline kicks off with Stuart attempting to fix a complicated device crafted by Sheldon and Leonard, but he accidentally breaks it and unwittingly incites an Armageddon situation throughout the multiverse. The gang will inevitably meet differing versions of themselves, as seen in the promo, which will no doubt complicate their struggles.

That said, it's not entirely clear what those struggles even are, or how the squad is even going to try to save anything. I mean, the title suggests that nothing gets saved, but they're still likely going to TRY to do something positive. But even if this show was just a slapfight between Stuarts, I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad idea.

To his credit, Chuck Lorre has primed us all for this, saying he was sure that fans would either love it or hate it, without much middle ground. And I guess I can see what he's talking about, since this very clearly stands apart from its source material in a way that could be seen as divisive. Plus, Lorre said he worked a lot with CGI for the first time on this project, which should bring about some unique comedic choices.

We've got a post-apocalyptic planet, we've got gnarly flying creatures straight out of The Mist, and we've got bald Stuart in cryogenic sleep goo. There are doorways to nowhere, out of this world weaponry, a giant woman, and even a comic book of the show's adventures. Which is where we get visual cameos for Leonard, Sheldon and Howard.

Will Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Simon Helberg actually show up in live-action for the new show? I think the bigger question might be, "How ridiculous will they look when they do?" (I have a feeling this might be the only project that could pull Galecki out of his semi-retirement phase.)

Get your fireball powers in check, and ready yourself for all the timeline-twisting action and mayhem when Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres on HBO Max on Thursday, July 23.

To say that I'm a fan of Legally Blonde would be an understatement. I've adored the 2001 movie since its release, so there was no question about me watching Prime Video's upcoming series, Elle, with my Prime subscription when it arrives on the 2026 TV schedule. Watching the newly released teaser trailer for the show has me extra excited.

See, I'll just rip the dating-my-self bandaid off right now and say that I was a '90s teen myself. More the flannel-wearing kind than pink-wearing kind, but that's just fine here, since this new series clearly showcases both edges of that style spectrum. Regardless, as much as I'm loving this first look at the new show, I think it's only right to bring up the topic of the plot, and how it might change the way we view the plot of the original movie.

My first reaction to the trailer was to obsess over all of the mid-'90s nostalgia on display as we're introduced to Lexi Minitree's Elle Woods, a '90s Los Angeles teen bound for Seattle with her parents. From the pager to her dazzling platform wedges, to Bruiser's preppy Lacoste get-up, I'm here for all of it! After the glow of grunge being the new pink began to wear off though, the topic of the plot came up.

As the teaser implies, Elle is a fish-out-of-water story, wherein our heroine is forced to leave Bel Air with her parents to move to Seattle for her dad's job. While '90s Seattle would be an ideal scene for many teens of the era, it's not at all Elle's vibe, and we're left to wonder how she's going to fit in. Sound familiar?

To be clear, I'm excited to see how Elle rises to this challenge, as we know she's capable of adapting to her surroundings, while maintaining that pink, bejeweled aura we know and love about her. I also get why it's impossible to completely ignore the parallels between the original movie, where Elle is a fish-out-of-water in Boston while attending Harvard Law School in order to try to win back her boyfriend. I think it's valid to be concerned about this story being told having the potential to cheapen the movie's story if it doesn't connect in the right way.

After all, Elle is introduced to us in the original movie as someone we assumed had always surrounded herself with people who dress similarly and are into the same things that she is. Going to Harvard was completely new territory for her, or so we thought. The growth we see Elle have throughout the movie is one of the things that makes it so charming and uplifting. If this new show is aiming for the same kind of story, it's going to have to walk a fine line between building an interesting plot for Elle in this part of her timeline and also, presumably, making sure it still lines up with the start of the 2001 movie.

I'm prepared to see this series take some liberties with the character and plot in order to make the show work, and hopefully create some stakes. I'm both curious and excited to see how it works, and optimistic that, when the show premieres on Prime Video on July 1, 2026, Elle will be a lot of fun (I'm also hoping Elle has as many great quotes as Legally Blonde does!). I just hope it doesn't end up changing my views of Elle from the movie, at least not in a negative way.

Romantic comedies are a beloved genre in the film world, and there are few that do it quite as successful as Jennifer Lopez. Some of JLo's best movies are rom-coms, and she's got another one coming with Office Romance (which will be available with a Netflix subscription). Her chemistry with Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein is electric, but did this footage basically give away the entire movie?

It remains to be seen if Office Romance ends up being one of JLo's best rom-coms, but the above trailer is definitely compelling. The movie was written for Lopez, but I'm worried that the trailer revealed too much. After all, we saw as she and Goldstein met, fell for each other, and eventually the drama that'll presumably happen in act three. I mean, am I crazy here?

This trailer opens on Brett Goldstein's Daniel Blanchflower as he seemingly has his first day at an airline called AirCruz. He's warned about what a hardass the boss is aka Jennifer Lopez's character Jackie Cruz. She's teased to be a Miranda Priestly-esque character, but he seems smitten the minute they meet for the first time.

We see as the pair start working together. And while Daniel clearly has an insta-crush, Jackie tries to keep things professional between the two of them. Try being the operative word, as feelings grow between the two until they eventually dance together in the Dominican Republic during a work trip. The dancing leads to kissing, and the titular Office Romance begins between the pair of coworkers.

While this is only a trailer I have to say that I'm impressed by how great the chemistry is between Lopez and Goldstein. It bursts off the screen, with their characters unable to keep their hands off each other in the office. Unfortunately, this ends up being a big part of the conflict that's revealed later in the clip.

Eventually folks around the office notice that there's something between the pair, leading AirCruz's Board of Directors to call in JLo's Jackie for an emergency meeting. They threaten to throw her out of the company, with Daniel willing to lose his job in order to protect her (and their relationship).

While every romantic comedy needs to have conflict, I'm surprised by how much of the movie's plot was seemingly shown in the Office Romance trailer. These scenes will obviously be expanded and the narrative will go further than this limited footage, it feels like pretty much the entire movie's story has been revealed. So I hope there are some surprises when I eventually stream the title upon its release this summer.

All will be revealed when Office Romance hits Netflix on June 5th as part of the 2026 movie release list. I personally can't wait to see Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein's chemistry in full when streaming the forthcoming rom-com.

The first trailer for Zach Cregger's Resident Evil is here, and it feels a lot more like my favorite games than the previous attempts to adapt this franchise. The acclaimed Weapons and Barbarian director is back with his take on the iconic zombie games, and I love that the first look puts the "survival horror" element front and center.

The trailer centers heavily on Austin Abrams' Bryan, as he seems to be the only human we see in this footage. What's better is he seems to be a civilian, and not prepared to handle a zombie invasion like other Resident Evil heroes, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, or Leon Kennedy. To me, that's perfect, because it gets to the heart of what makes the games so terrifying to play.

One big element of Resident Evil games is that "survival horror" means that this isn't a situation where the hero is just running and gunning their way through every area. Ammo is scarce, and there's going to be a fair few situations where you may be forced to run away with no better options. I have a feeling Bryan will be doing that a lot, especially with a double-barreled shotgun that, even if he has a lot of ammo, will be cumbersome to reload in tense situations.

It feels like Bryan is going to be the same type of protagonist as Grace, who is featured in the latest game, Resident Evil Requiem. She's become a meme of sorts because players loved how genuinely terrified she is witnessing the horrific mutations that came from the Umbrella corporation. It's a nice change of pace from Leon Kennedy, who's seen it all as an experienced agent and is largely unfazed by face-splitting abominations.

Totally valid, but as someone who has to take breaks playing Resident Evil games because they give me so much anxiety, I appreciate this representation. I ultimately love the best horror movies out there, but I can also make myself miserable trying to watch them.

While we don't know a ton about the plot, Zach Cregger told Bloody Disgusting that he wasn't looking to tell the story of any character who is already in the games, but that it does take place in the universe. Having a hero who seems equally as horrified as I am is going to make this movie easier to get through, even if I have to shut my eyes for a scene or two.

All this to say, consider me hyped for the release of Resident Evil, which will be in theaters on September 18th. It's one of my more anticipated releases on the 2026 movie schedule, so I hope it's as good as this first trailer.

Now, I had heard rumblings about a rom-com on the 2026 movie schedule that was like if you took the premise of The Purge movies, added in romance, and took away the murder. Initially, I was conflicted by this because of how wild it sounds. However, now I’ve seen the trailer for Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro’s One Night Only, and I gotta say, I’m totally sold.

So, I know what you might be thinking: “Why would you use a great horror franchise to describe a rom-com?” Trust me, I wondered that too. However, it actually makes so much sense, so let me break it down. Instead of one day where crime (including murder) is legal, in One Night Only, there’s only one day of the year where “single people are legally allowed to have sex.” See what I’m saying, it’s like The Purge, but instead of everyone doing crimes, every single person is trying to get laid.

With that foundation set, this movie follows Owen and Allie, who are played by Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, respectively, on this day. They don’t know each other, they meet on this day, and it seems like they do not get along. The trailer shows the two bantering, making fun of each other, and throwing insults back and forth, like:

• Allie: Your ears look like car doors.
• Owen: Well, your nose is way too small for your face.
• Allie: Your chin could plow a field.
• Owen: Your legs don’t make any sense.
• Allie: Your hairline doesn’t make any sense.

So, at first, it seems like they won’t be fit to share this one night together.

However, as the trailer depicts, it seems like they get up to a lot of trouble over the course of the evening (why do they end up at a hospital?), and as this day winds down, maybe they realize they do have feelings for one another. But will they act on them with enough time to legally do so? I guess the film will answer that question, and I can’t wait to see it.

Along with the premise immediately pulling me into this movie, the stars got me too. I adored Callum Turner’s Eternity (a rom-com you can stream with an Apple TV subscription), and Monica Barbaro has been a favorite of mine since Top Gun: Maverick (check that one out with a Paramount+ subscription). So, I’m thrilled to see them both leading a movie. The fact that they’re leading a rom-com together AND they have palpable chemistry just makes all this even better.

On top of the actors and the premise being major selling points, One Night Only comes from Will Gluck, who directed both Easy A and Anyone But You. When I think about that iconic Emma Stone movie and the creative Shakespeare-inspired project starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, the first thing that comes to mind is the creativity of both films. They each have unique premieres, but also play into tropes we know and love. It seems like One Night Only will do the exact same thing with its wild Purge-like premise.

You can catch The Purge, but make it a rom-com…I mean One Night Only, in theaters on August 7.

Of the numerous book-to-screen adaptations arriving in theaters this year, the Verity movie from Michael Showalter has to be one of the most anticipated. The popular (to put it mildly) psychological thriller novel written by Colleen Hoover is a real page-turner, and given this first glimpse of the film (finally!), which shows Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway in the lead roles, it looks like we're about to be on the edge of our seats for this one when it arrives on the 2026 movie schedule later this year. .

What Verity Is About

Verity centers on a writer named Lowen (Dakota Johnson), who's hired to ghostwrite Verity Crawford's book because she's unwell. Lowen isn't just helping out with the writing, she's living with Verity (Anne Hathaway), her husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett) and their child while she sorts through the author's notes. During the process, Lowen comes across a manuscript of Verity's that may be autobiographical and contains some very dark, unsettling content, which leads her to question what's true about these people.

The Teaser Trailer Doesn't Hold Back

As you can see from the teaser trailer, things heat up in this story as Lowen gets to know the people she's living with and working for. The mystery surrounding the manuscript is just part of the drama that unfolds in this mysterious and thrilling tale.

The teaser gives us a glimpse of a spicy moment between Lowen and Jeremy, which turns into a scary, bloody moment between Lowen and Verity, and that's really just the start of the chaos. Darkness ahead... indeed!

The Latest Colleen Hoover Adaptation

Verity is the next in line among the numerous Colleen Hoover adaptations we've seen in recent years. It follows It Ends With Us, Regretting You and, most recently, Reminders of Him, all of which are based on stand alone novels from the popular author. While Verity is also a stand-alone novel, it also stands out among these other titles in terms of the tone. While there is romance involved in the story, Verity is very much a psychological thriller. (I spent every page of the book needing to know what was true and what wasn't, and how it was all going to end. Based on the teaser, I think we're in for a similar experience with the film.)

If we're looking at recent book adaptations, beyond appealing to those who loved Hoover's book, I have a feeling this one will appeal to those who liked the adaptation of Freida McFadden's The Housemaid.

We still have months to go before Verity hits theaters. The film arrives on October 2, 2026. That gives you plenty of time to read the book, if you haven't already!

The 2026 movie schedule is treating audiences to more than a few book-to-screen adaptations, and one of those is Remarkably Bright Creatures, which is adapted from Shelby Van Pelt’s 2022 novel of the same name. Van Pelt’s book has earned a considerable amount of popularity since its release, so it’s not surprising that a film adaptation is on the way. So far, fans have only gotten a small taste of the upcoming movie, which is set to hit Netflix, but a new trailer now gives a fuller look at this lovely tale.

Remarkably Bright Creatures tells the story of a widow named Tova (played by Sally Field), who works the night-shift as a cleaner at an aquarium. It’s during her work hours that she meets and befriends a large Pacific octopus named Marcellus (voiced by Alfred Molina). The meeting between the two unlikely friends coincides with the arrival of an out-of-towner named Cameron (Lewis Pullman), who is searching for his father. In time, Tova and Cameron find themselves uncovering an intriguing mystery.

Much of that story seems to be teased well in the trailer, which can be seen above, and it all looks so sweet. I’ve admittedly seen my fair share of movies that are anchored by unlikely friendships, but I’d still be lying if I said I didn’t find the teases of Tova’s bond with Marcellus lovely. Such unique character bonds can be hard to sell but, in this case, I’d say it helps to have an Oscar winner in Sally Field. It goes without saying that Field has put in incredible performances, and I’m already loving what I see of her portrayal of the sweet Tova.

Of course, there’s also still the relationship that Tova has with Pullman’s Cameron, which also seems quite pleasant. Based on this trailer alone, what we have here is a burgeoning surrogate mother-and-son relationship. It’s also great to see Lewis Pullman in a somewhat smaller movie and getting to work with a legend. Pullman (who’s not on social media) has been carving out a sweet lane for himself and has been steadily sliding out of the shadow of his famous father, Bill Pullman (who’s also his Spaceballs 2 co-star).

As for the cast, Joan Chen, Kathy Baker, Colm Meaney, Sofia Black-D’Elia and Beth Grant are also pat of the ensemble. Overall, it would seem that a solid ensemble cast has been assembled for this book adapation.

This feature film take on Van Pelt’s book is being directed by Olivia Newman, and she has prior experience when it comes to book adaptations. Newman previously directed 2022’s Where the Crawdads Sing, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Delia Owens (who was involved in the creative process. Hopefully, such creative synergy runs is also true for Remarkably Bright Creatures and that Newman looked to Van Pelt for inspiration at times.

Remarkably Beautiful Creatures will be available for Netflix subscription holders to stream, beginning on May 8.

Now that Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s The Drama has arrived to the 2026 release schedule, there are four more upcoming A24 movies to look forward to this year. The last of the bunch, titled The Invite (an English adaptation of Cesc Gray’s Spanish film The People Upstairs), doubles as Olivia Wilde’s directorial follow-up to 2022’s Don’t Worry Darling. She additionally stars alongside Seth Rogen, and the first trailer for The Invite has me stressing out about the dinner party their characters are holding.

Although The Invite is labeled as a comedy, many A24 movies contain some degree of tension, and this one isn’t bucking that trend. The Invite, written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, sees Rogen and Wilde (who shared screen time just last year in an episode of Apple TV’s The Studio) playing couple Joe and Angela, who are having a rough patch when the movie begins, and hosting a dinner party for their upstairs neighbors Pína and Hawk, respectively played by Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton. Just seeing Angela call out Joe for not complimenting her enough is awkward.

The weirdness just keeps ratcheting up as the trailer continues, most notably when it’s strongly implied that Pína and Hawk are swingers and would like to include Joe and Angela in their sexual escapades. The song choice of “Ring My Bell” certainly hammers that home. Now that by itself wouldn’t necessarily be odd, depending on who you ask, but then preview for The Invite wraps up with bizarre imagery and moments. From Angela sticking her fingers into a stick of butter to Joe screaming out in pain over what looks like… you know what, I won’t get into that here.

I’m thinking The Invite will be similar to last year’s uncomfortable A24 release Friendship, which was hilarious, but so cringe to get through (I still haven’t forgotten about the soap punishment scene). One difference here is that it seems like the events will be contained to just the one apartment, or perhaps there will be a point in the movie Joe and/or Angela sneak into Pína and Hawk’s apartment. Either way, I am intrigued to learn just what the full deal is with Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton’s characters in The Invite, and what ramifications their… unique interests will have on Joe and Angela’s marriage.

The Invite opens in theaters on June 26, the same day as Supergirl and Jackass 5, and just one week after A24’s The Death of Robin Hood sees Hugh Jackman playing an aged version of the legendary archer. I’m sure the Olivia Wilde-helmed movie will generate a lot of chatter, including at dinner parties, but I just know I’m going to be squirming uncomfortably once I sit down to watch it.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll never forget reading George Orwell’s Animal Farm in high school. It’s one of those core-memory books I have because of how timeless the allegorical novella from 1945 is. Well, now Animal Farm is among the upcoming book-to-screen adaptations on the 2026 movie schedule, and the new trailer previews Andy Serkis’ approach to it.

Now, Andy Serkis has been working on helming an Animal Farm movie since back in 2012, originally as a performance capture movie. Ultimately, the director/voice actor decided to make it as a traditional 3D animated film geared toward ages 11 and up. While the previous trailer for it showcased the more lighthearted aspects of the film, this new look at Animal Farm (in the video above) offers perhaps a more balanced showcase of how the classic is being handled.

The movie starts with a group of animals thinking they are “going on vacation” before they realize they’re being sent to a slaughterhouse and rebel against their humans. Just like the novella, they decide to take over the farm for themselves, thus calling it “Animal Farm.” Once they do so, they have to decide how the farm will be ruled. Two pigs ultimately assume command and start to adopt rules on the farm that create inequality among the different animals, thus becoming a dictatorship.

While there’s definitely some cute family-friendly elements to this Animal Farm that may seem off-kilter to those who read the novella, this new look seems to skew closer to the source material. About halfway through this trailer, you can see how some of Animal Farm’s residents start to be treated unfairly. Though there is a key difference to note in this Animal Farm, with the protagonist being a new character, a piglet named Lucky, who decides to “rebel” against the dictatorship.

The animated film was initially going to be produced by Netflix back in 2018, but was ultimately made by Cinesite, Aniventure, and Imaginarium Productions. It is being distributed through Angel Studios. The movie boasts a star-studded cast, with Seth Rogen as Napoleon, Gaten Matarazzo as Lucky, along with Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close, Steve Buscemi, Laverne Cox, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani among the voice cast.

Per a press release by Angel Studios, the producers of this Animal Farm worked closely with George Orwell’s estate to “intentionally” reimagine “certain roles and character identities to broaden the film’s appeal to younger audiences.” When speaking about his film, Serkis said he wanted this version of the classic to “feel contemporary and genuinely connect with younger audiences”.

Previously, Animal Farm was adapted into movies in 1954 and as a live-action movie in 1999. This new Animal Farm is coming to theaters on May 1.

Taron Egerton is only a little over a year removed from earning acclaim for a hero turn in a Netflix movie. In 2024's Carry-On, the Welsh actor starred as a TSA agent trapped under the thumb of a mercenary – the character working to stay alive while simultaneously undermining a terrorist plot –and he once again demonstrated his skills as a leading man. As cool as it was to see him in that role, however, I have to say that I am way more excited to see him go totally unhinged while starring alongside Charlize Theron in the action thriller Apex.

The upcoming Netflix feature will be streaming in less than a month, and the new trailer above previews what is hopefully an intense ride. Theron plays a thrill-seeking rock climber who travels to Australia to grieve after a painful loss. She travels into the wilderness with expectations of isolation, but she instead ends up in a battle for her life. A man whom she casually asks for directions at a gas station (Egerton) turns out to be a psychopath who enjoys hunting people for sport, and after he tracks her down, he gives her a brief head start before taking off after her while armed with a deadly crossbow.

Apex is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, best known for moves like 2015's Everest and 2022's Beast, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the filmmaker let Egerton go completely off the leash with this movie and what we see in this footage is merely a taste of his insanity (you can see a whole lot of crazy in his eyes in close-up shots). It can be a whole lot of fun when actors are allowed to be as wild as their sensibilities will let them – two great recent examples that comes to mind being Jake Gyllenhaal in Ambulance and Jason Momoa in Fast X – and I hope that Egerton chews through each and every one of his scenes.

Of course, I can't ignore that we're also seeing Charlize Theron back and showing off her special action skills – Apex being her second feature in a row for Netflix subscribers following last summer's The Old Guard 2. One gets the sense that this adventure will principally have her demonstrating her awesome athleticism running, climbing, and battling rapids in a kayak, but it looks like she'll also be showing off some of her combat talents as well.

Apex, with Theron coming aboard in December 2024,was shot a little over a year ago on location in Australia, and it's now just weeks from its premiere. Also featuring Eric Bana (curious who he's playing, as he doesn't appear in the trailer), the movie will be available to stream starting April 24.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing, thanks to new titles arriving in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. The next highly anticipated upcoming Marvel movie is Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which finally treated fans to its first trailer. The footage introduced how Punisher and Hulk will factor into its story, but the question of who Sadie Sink is playing remains. Let's break it all down.

Fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order have been curious about how Tom Holland's hero was doing following No Way Home's twist ending. Doctor Strange's spell caused the world to forget Peter, including MJ and Ned. It looks like he's largely thriving thanks to his anonymity, but he's seen talking his former friends both digitally and in-person. And things get even more complicated once he starts going through a mysterious transformation.

The footage opens with Peter looking up videos of Ned and MJ while he's suited up and protecting New York City. While the world forgot who he was Spider-Man seems to be in good standing, even getting the key to the city. For the first time we see the inside of Spidey's mask, which may be a hint that this is a movie that'll put us in his POV and psyche.

Peter takes a break from his personal issues and soon comes face to face with Jon Bernthal's Punisher, who is making his first appearance on the big screen as Frank Castle. They seem to be frenemies of sorts, trading blows but also bantering. I guess Punisher's penchant for killing puts him at odds with the wall crawler.

After going to a party and creeping on Ned and MJ, it soon becomes clear that Peter isn't well. We see him looking feverish, and waking up with webs all around him. When he's unable to figure out what's happening to him, he seeks help from none other than Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, who is noticeably not green and seemingly teaching at a university. We'll just have to see if/how he ends up Hulking out throughout the course of the movie's runtime.

There are also a number of antagonists introduced in this brief clip. One of which seemingly controls minds, which might add fuel to the theory that Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey. We also see Spider-Man battling Scorpion and a number of masked antagonists who have blade weapons. There are still tons of questions about the movie's plot, but clearly there's a ton going for it.

There's another fan theory that seems to be supported by this teaser: the idea that Peter will transform into Man-Spider throughout the run of the movie. Whether or not he actually becomes a monster and grows new arms remains to be seen, but the health issues he's facing seem to indicate that something big is coming to Peter Parker.

All will be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list.

Those who have read Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah have already known that the third film in director Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy adaptation would be quite different from its predecessors. The story jumps ahead in time, and instead of being a revolutionary epic, it unfolds as a political thriller – with sinister forces working to undermine the power of Emperor Paul Atreides as the Fremen jihad continues to spread across the universe. What we have not known, of course, is exactly what that would mean for the big screen vision, but this morning we have been delivered a staggering impression via the first look that is the debut trailer for Dune: Part Three.

We are still about nine months away from the highly anticipated upcoming sci-fi blockbuster arriving in theaters, but it seems that the arrival of Project Hail Mary on large format screens this coming Friday was deemed too enticing an opportunity for an early preview to pass up. I won’t say it’s not effective being watched on one’s computer, but every part of the Dune experience, including the marketing, is best seen on the biggest screen possible – and I say that with a personal stamp of approval, having attended an IMAX preview of this new trailer yesterday afternoon.

The footage doesn’t reveal much in terms of story, but we see a bunch of familiar and new faces – and even the familiar faces look considerably different given that 17 years have passed since we last saw the majority of them.

Depicting the aftermath of Paul Atreides’ (Timothée Chalamet) ascendency, his launch of a cosmic war, and his agreement to marry Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) – all depicted in the end of Dune: Part Two – Dune: Part Three sees the ruler surrounded by political and personal conflict. The Fremen jihad continues and he abstains from impregnating his wife out of his commitment to and love for Chani (Zendaya).The greatest threat of all, however, comes from an antagonist conspiracy seeking to undermine his rule that sees him “gifted” with a ghola: an artificial human named Hayt (Jason Momoa) bred to resemble Paul’s mentor and friend Duncan Idaho.

The trailer features a number of returning stars, including the aforementioned Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Anya-Taylor Joy, and Jason Momoa, but it also gives us our first look at some new characters, most notably Robert Pattinson as the antagonist Face Dancer Scytale. As you probably noticed, the actor is sporting a very different look in this movie than past performances, as he has not only a short crew cut, but his hair is bleach blond.

It feels like it was just yesterday that Denis Villeneuve was first blowing our minds with his brilliant and beautiful depiction of Arrakis in 2021’s Dune, but we are now just a few months away from seeing the conclusion of the trilogy that he has personally been envisioning for decades. With the movie still in post-production following the conclusion of filming at the end of last year, this trailer is only a tease of what we can expect, and I will join all fans in savoring every peek we get in the runup to the release date. Be sure to mark your calendars: audiences around the world will be able to see Dune: Part Three on December 18, and it is expected to be one of the most special cinematic events of the year.

It’s been a little while since Jack Ryan wrapped up its four-season run (which can be viewed in its entirety with a Prime Video subscription). While fans have been without John Krasinski’s version of the titular character for a few years, they’ve had the reassurance that Ryan would return in a new movie. Well, that film is officially set to hit the 2026 movie schedule, and the explosive first trailer was just released. It also reveals the official title as well as a sweet new behind-the-scenes role for Krasinski.

Tuesday marked the release of the teaser trailer for what’s now officially known as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War. As revealed in the trailer, Jack is no longer working with the CIA and is now seemingly aiming to stay out of the line of fire. That changes, however, when his old boss and friend, James Greer (played by the returning Wendell Pierce) asks for his help in taking down a radicalized military group spreading fear and chaos. Of course, Ryan’s ultimately coaxed into getting back into the game.

While this is the definition of a “teaser trailer,” we do get some shots of Jack geared up and back in action. Hand-to-hand fights, car chases and explosions – staples of this franchise – just seem to be the tip of the iceberg for this “movie event.” And, behind the camera, Krasinski is taking on a new role, which marks a first for him in this franchise. He’s credited as a screenwriter on Ghost War, sharing that credit with Noah Oppenheim, and the actor-writer also has a story credit on this production.

It makes sense that John Krasinski is shifting into writer mode for this production. For one, he’s obviously a skilled scribe in his own right, as he held the duties on his A Quiet Place franchise. That’ll also be the case for the upcoming third installment in that series. Additionally, over the years, there have been other stars who’ve written for the TV properties they’ve starred in. I can even think back to Carroll O'Connor writing for In the Heat of the Night or David Duchovny penning some episodes of The X-Files.

Fans may also be excited to know that there are a few more familiar faces in the fold this time around as well. Both Michael Kelly and Betty Gabriel are also reportedly reprising their roles as Mike November and Elizabeth Wright, respectively. Given that neither appear in this first trailer, I’m curious as to how big their roles will be.

On the whole, this Jack Ryan follow-up movie serves as a significant expansion for the mythos, which may be welcome to fans due to at least one other project not coming to fruition. It was reported in 2022 that a spinoff series centered on Michael Peña’s Domingo Chavez was in the works and, in 2023, Peña expressed his hopes to CinemaBlend about the show happening. At this point, though, the project has reportedly been shelved.

Still, Ghost War should hopefully satisfy those who’ve been eager to see more of Ryan in action. It remains to be seen when a full trailer for the film might finally be released. In the meantime, though, this teaser is a nice little bit of promotion to set the tone for Jack’s next adventure.

We’re only a few weeks away from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s arrival to the 2026 movies schedule, so it’s time for the last marketing push. The first trailer highlighted Rosalina and Bowser Jr. appearing in the sequel, and then came the official reveal of Yoshi. Now the final trailer for this upcoming video game adaptation is here, and with it comes the reveal of who will voice Yoshi and several new characters in the sequel.

Based on the two Super Mario Galaxy video games released in 2007 and 2010, respectively, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie sees Mario and Luigi meeting Yoshi and embarking on a mission into outer space with Princess Peach and Toad. During their journey into the cosmos, they’ll meet Princess Rosalina, adoptive mother of the adorable Lumas, and face off against Bowser Jr., whose father has been miniaturized since the end of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The new trailer is packed with the action we’ll see unfold out in space, but it was the reveals that came after Nintendo’s presentation of the trailer that got me extra hype for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. There we learned that Donald Glover will voice Yoshi, a casting choice that legitimately surprised me. Glover is no stranger to voice roles, having previously played Simba in 2019’s The Lion King and 2024’s Mufasa: The Lion King, but I wonder if The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will find a way for the actor’s take on Yoshi to have meaningful dialogue, or will he just stick to the character’s usual sound effects.

Additionally, Luis Guzman and Issa Rae have been tapped to respectively voice King Wart and the Honey Queen. The former villain has been a baddie in the Super Mario franchise since 1998’s Super Mario Bros. 2, while the latter is more of a supporting character from the aforementioned Super Mario Galaxy games. No doubt both characters will have sizable roles in the new movie, though I suspect that King Wart will be more of a side villain rather than directly allied with Bowser and Bowser Jr.

The returning cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie includes Chris Pratt as Marion, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. The other newcomers include Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic returned to direct the sequel, as did Matthew Fogel to write the script.

Following the inclusion of Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner in Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 last year, the DC Universe is pointing the spotlight directly on the Green Lantern mythology on the 2026 TV schedule with HBO’s Lanterns. Although Guy will pop up in the series, we’ll chiefly be following along Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart. However, after watching the first Lanterns trailer, I’m concerned about the kind of dynamic we’re getting between these two characters in the upcoming DC TV show.

If you’ve been following along with Lanterns’ development, you know that the show will depict Hal as a veteran Green Lantern who’s training rookie John. The trailer reveals that Hal’s been showing John the ropes for two months, but the latter hasn’t even put on the ring yet that allows him to channel the emerald energy of willpower. He’ll soon get his chance, and not just with that jumping out of the car stunt Hal pulls. The two men will be investigating a mysterious murder in Nebraska, and you know there’s going to be an extraterrestrial bent to this if Green Lanterns are getting involved.

That’s all well and good. Do I wish this first Lanterns trailer had shown off some of the show’s cosmic flavor or at least given us a quick peek of Hal or John in their Green Lantern suits? Yes, but I also realize DC and HBO have to be smart about marketing Lanterns this early on and not reveal too much. However, going off this first preview, I’m puzzled about Hal and John seemingly like they have an overly antagonistic dynamic with each other.

I can buy Hal calling John a “f---ing substitute teacher” if he’s taking a more drill sergeant-y approach with his Green Lantern training, and I’ll even play along with him driving that car off the cliff as a trial by fire for the new recruit. However, I find it weird that John’s going so far as to say that he does a better job of protecting people than Hal does, and that his mentor’s time is up. At the same time, Hal doesn’t sound like he’s thrilled to be training John, whether as his direct successor or a backup Green Lantern like he started off as in the comics.

It makes sense that Lanterns will have somewhat of a buddy cop vibe to it, meaning that there will naturally be some friction between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Still, I can’t help but wonder why they seem to be overly hostile with each other. Assuming this isn’t just a misdirect with the way the trailer is cut, at what point during the show will these two start to feel like proper partners? Or, if Lanterns is pulling from one of Hal’s darker periods in the comics, are we going to see his fall from grace and transformation into Parallax stemming from the events that take place in this Nebraska town?

These questions and many more will be answered when Lanterns premieres on HBO sometime in August, and episodes will also be streamable with an HBO Max subscription. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre’s co-stars include Kelly Macdonald as Kerry Macon, Garret Dillahunt as William Macon, and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, among others. The series is the brainchild of Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, with Mundy serving as showrunner.

The Naked Gun’s return in 2025 was a reminder of how amazing spoof movies can be, so it was beyond exciting when Marlon Wayans announced that his own parody franchise would rise from the grave as the sequel Scary Movie 6. After more than a year of fans waiting to see what the creative team cooked up, the first trailer arrived in theaters attached to — what else? — Kevin Williamson’s critically maligned Scream 7, and now it’s finally arrived online.

As seen above, lots of returning stars are in the mix — Regina Hall’s Brenda is so back alongside Anna Faris' Cindy Campbell — and the new movie is taking aim at a slew of horrors that have shifted the culture over the past decade or so. (And one can only hope upcoming horror movies are on the table for a potential seventh movie.)

The trailer kicks off with a subway train full of mask-wearing riders, and doesn't immediately reveal itself as a Scary Movie promo. But that doesn't last very long, with a dancing M3gan taking off a mask to unveil the smiling Ghostface himself (the correct pronoun in this case). And all in front of a poster for "Okay Bloomers Florists." Rim shot.

The trailer goes for broke with the number of movies we already get to see spoofed. And vibing with the initial logline claiming the Wayans were going after cancel culture with this sequel, the promo does feature all manner of sexuality jokes. From the Sinners-esque trio offering to do some "half-gay s--t" to the spinning wheel's "Truth, Dare or Gay Shit" option to having Cindy use a pair of floppy dildos to take Ghostface down. And then to fill him up. Just look at that other Ghostface watching in the corner, that freak.

You just can't unsee some things, and that one counts.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we have Scary Movie franchise vet Chris Elliott portraying a mocked-up version of Nicolas Cage's Longlegs killer, complete with the gnarliest knuckles I've ever seen.

What else do we have here? The subway car by itself has so many references, from Hellraiser's Pinhead to Halloween's Michael Myers to Heart Eyes' titular killer, even if theyre all costumes and not necessarily used as jokes right away. We have Ghostface showing up at the house "Tuesday," who rocks Wednesday Addams' pigtails, but without her all-black garb. Marlon Wayans' Shorty gets sent down into the Sunken Place (or whatever this franchise's version of that is) by Ghostface, and I really hope that's not cotton all over the room.

There's a Smile bit involving a bedpan, a car smashing into a costumed child running like one of the Weapons' kids, a send-up of The Substance that also brings to mind the 1985 cult classic The Stuff. And I can only hope Faux Art the Clown becomes a regular member of this group. I'd give him a hand, but he already took mine. OH SNAP. (Except I can't, because of the hand thing.) I do wonder if David Howard Thornton himself was brought in to play Art in the Terrifier 3-spoofing scene.

Give the trailer one or two rewatches, since there are definitely gags included that won't be picked up on the first viewing. And then protect your butts (or don't), as Cindy and the rest of the Scary Movie 6 posse will be hitting theaters on June 12.

Mortal Kombat II is among the many upcoming video games to look forward to on the 2026 movies schedule, with the long-awaited sequel coming five years after the beloved franchise was rebooted for the big screen. The first Mortal Kombat II trailer dropped last July, when the movie was still be slated to released in October, and now the latest trailer has arrived three months ahead of its current release slot. Well, after watching the new preview, I’m convinced that Lewis Tan’s Cole Young will be one of the sequel’s early fatalities.

Full disclosure, I know very little about the Mortal Kombat franchise, so I can’t speak to which characters are likely to be killed off in Mortal Kombat II based off the lore of the video games. What I do know is that Cole Young was created specifically for 2021’s Mortal Kombat as an everyman character who gets drawn into the conflict between the denizens of Earthrealm and Outworld. When we last saw him, he’d been tasked to go to Los Angeles to find Johnny Cage, whom Karl Urban is playing in Mortal Kombat II.

Lewis Tan is confirmed to reprise Cole in the sequel, but unless he pops up with blink-and-you-miss-it speed, I have yet to see him in any of the trailers. Furthermore, Johnny is clearly serving as a new everyman character in Mortal Kombat II as a surrogate for the audience. Johnny is a washed-up action film star who’s shocked to learn about this world of superpowered fighters. Cole’s a washed-up mixed martial artist who was shocked to learn about this world of superpowered fighters. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Don’t get me wrong, I hope Cole Young makes it out of Mortal Kombat II alive. Don’t forget, he’s also the descendant of Hanzo Hasashi, a.k.a. Scorpion, and I’ve been hoping that we see them reunite in the sequel. But going off the marketing so far, it’s looking more and more likely to me that Cole will meet his demise early on in Mortal Kombat II. Maybe this is the reason Johnny Cage enters the picture, or maybe Cole dies shortly after Johnny is recruited. Either way, I don’t see him lasting long once the movie begins.

Still, this is a franchise that thrives on killing its characters, so Cole will undoubtedly be just one of the first to fall. In addition to other familiar faces like Jessica McNamee’s Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks’ Jax, Ludi Lin’s Liu Kang and Josh Lawson’s Kano returning in Mortal Kombat II, Karl Urban’s Johnny is joined in the newcomer lineup by Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana, Tati Gabrielle’s Jade, Damon Herriman’s Quan Chi and Martyn Ford’s Shao Kahn, among others. As with the first movie, Simon McQuoid directed, while Jeremy Slater handled scriptwriting duties this time around.

Mortal Kombat II punches its way into theaters on May 8. If you need a refresher beforehand, stream the previous movie with your HBO Max subscription. Otherwise, prepare for the possibility we’ll be mourning Cole Young in a few months time.

Toy Story 5 is on the 2026 movie schedule for this summer, and the latest trailer is going straight for my heart, and I'm all about it. While there's been a lot of talk about why there's a new Toy Story movie after it had two endings, I'm sold on catching up with Woody, Buzz and the gang after this new look (in the video above). And, part of that has to do with some clever references to previous movies.

The new Pixar movie follows all our favorite toys as Bonnie gets a tablet called Lilypad that begins to take up all of her time and leave the toys with no playtime. Let's talk about the references I noticed:

The "When She Loved Me" Reference Has Me Emotional

Toward the end of the trailer, there's a brief shot of Jessie being swung around my the arms by who I assume is Bonnie. Obviously, it reminds one of the tear-worthy "When She Loved Me" scene from Toy Story 2. It makes me think of how Jessie is with a young girl again and that must bring up memories of her prior buddy. I wonder if we'll get the song all over again?

Woody And Buzz Are Back At It Jumping On Cars

In the first Toy Story, Buzz and Woody famously jump onto a moving car so they can make sure to follow Andy home with the moving truck. I love that the new trailer calls back to this moment with a new scene with a hilarious bit about Woody's poncho (which is just a red bandana). The chemistry between these two is the bread and butter of the Toy Story movies, and I'm happy to see they have a new action scene together. As Potato Head puts it:

The Return Of The Buzz Lightyear Army

In Toy Story 2, Buzz Lightyear find out there's a ton of other Buzz Lightyear toys and gets to know them. So, I love seeing that he calls "backup" with an army of them at some point in the movie. Tim Allen previously teased the scene, calling it "hysterical."

The other reason I'm interested in Toy Story 5 is because of its commentary on how tech are increasingly becoming more common for kids to play with rather than good old-fashioned toys. Also, after seeing this trailer in particular, I also love seeing all the classic humor that has made this series so beloved to me since the 1995 original. Sure, there's the another sequel of it all, but this trailer made me want to instantly venture back into the world of Toy Story again.

You can see Toy Story 5 in theaters on June 19. Before then, you can see Pixar's Hoppers first on March 6.

As Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy 4 gets off the ground at Universal, Warner Bros. is preparing to release its own reimaging of the franchise from director Lee Cronin. Many of the details regarding Cronin’s Mummy have been under wraps (no pun intended). However, the latest trailer now sheds a considerable amount of light on what horror hounds can expect from the film. I, for one, am downright horrified (as is surely the response the filmmakers want), and this footage seems to tease a truly terrifying family reunion.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy centers around a journalist (Jack Reynor) who – alongside his wife (Laia Costa) – has had to grapple with the loss of their youngest daughter, who’s been missing for eight years. So the couple are delighted when they learn their little girl has been found alive. Their elation eventually turns to discomfort, however, when they notice that their daughter, Katie, has changed – both physically and mentally. While I don’t know the exact source of the girl’s affliction, it seems evident that she’s become one of the undead.

By all accounts, this is a great trailer (which can be seen above). It, of course, lays out the premise without giving away any major spoilers, which is much appreciated. And, of course, it also teases more than a few excellent scares, which seem to be seriously chilling, based on this compilation of shots. Honestly, a little part of me is still shaking just thinking about some of the images in this trailer. Cronin and the marketing team deserve kudos for that, even if I may have nightmares about this for a little while.

What’s particularly impressive here is that Cronin seems to be blending familial drama with horror, which is something he’s done exceptionally well before. A relatively recent example of that would be Cronin’s last directorial effort, 2023’s acclaimed Evil Dead Rise (which is streamable with an HBO Max subscription). The Irish director would be far from the first person to use a corrupted child as the focal point for a horror flick. Still, he seems to be making the most out of that tried-and-true premise for this twisted family reunion.

Digging a little deeper into the horror that’s at play here, it’s evident that Cronin is trying to make audiences squirm in a myriad of ways. There are obviously jump scares, but there’s also plenty of body horror here as well. (I definitely cringed at the sight of skin being pulled off someone’s flesh.) Also seemingly in the mix is psychological horror, which is also essential for a film such as this.

Needless to say, this is a far cry from the Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz-led franchise, which is set to return. I am indeed excited that The Mummy 4 is finally moving forward, as it’s been a long time coming. Still, I also appreciate that there can be variety when it comes to the media landscape, as the Fraser movie (which is being helmed by Radio Silence) will surely offer up something unique as will Cronin’s.

Anyone who’s looking for some truly gnarly moments, though, may want to check out Lee Cronin’s movie at some point, though. Now that concrete details on the story have been revealed via the new trailer, horror devotees have a better idea of what to expect. On that note, they may want to physically and mentally prepare themselves for the spooky, family-infused film that’s to come.

The Mummy is set to hit theaters on April 17 as part of the 2026 movie schedule. In the meantime, read up on other upcoming horror films that are set to grace the silver screen in the near future.

Spider-Noir has a high bar to clear. After all, the show has roots in what is widely considered to be one of the best animated movies of the century in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, and that’s the kind of thing that can set expectations super high. Ultimately, we don’t know what kind of experience the series will deliver until it arrives for Prime Video subscribers in late May, but this brand new trailer is certainly letting me keep my hopes high.

Before going any further, however, I should note that there are two different versions of the debut Spider-Noir trailer. The Black & White teaser is above, but you can also scope out the True-Hue Color version below (the dual release reflecting the two different formats in which the show will be released):

Not too much is revealed plot-wise in these previews, but we are introduced to some rad period-reflective style and protagonist Ben Reilly: a veteran private investigator trying to bounce back from a personal tragedy who moonlights as a masked, wall-crawling guardian of 1930s New York. While the work is particularly riffing on the classic elements of the film noir genre (chiaroscuro lighting, detective protagonist, a femme fatale, etc.), it’s also not shying away from comic book action, as there are plenty of superpowers on display, and not just web-slinging.

The show marks the first time that Nicolas Cage has been the lead of a small screen series, but it doesn’t appear that the medium change is having too big of an impact on his performing instincts. While he is masked, that clap-and-snap moment around the 56 second mark is pure unfiltered Cage, as is the shot at 1:04 with him sitting on the bed with his arms raised zombie-style. The actor has previously described the character as “70 percent Humphrey Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny,” and I love that I can already see that come through in this super brief preview

Co-starring Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Jack Huston as Flint Marko, and Brendan Gleeson as the villainous Silvermane, Spider-Noir sports Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (The Punisher) as its co-showrunners, and completed production last spring. Folks who want to get an early look at the show will be able to do so when it premieres on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel on Monday, May 25, but all eight episodes will be made available to stream on Prime Video starting on Wednesday, May 27. As noted, audiences will be able to enjoy them in black and white or color… and should you feel inclined, you can even go back and forth watching both.

It’s been a long wait for One Piece Season 2, with the first season of the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga releasing in summer 2023.The good news is we’re only a few weeks away from the next batch of episodes for this Netflix subscription-exclusive show arriving to the 2026 TV schedule. One month after we got the trailer showing off Miss All Sunday’s freaky power, the final One Piece Season 2 trailer is here. While there’s a lot to enjoy from it, what caught my eye the most is how amazingly one of the show’s most bizarre villains is being brought to life.

Towards the end of One Piece Season 2, we’re going to meet the adorable Tony Tony Chopper, the walking and talking reindeer voiced by Mikaela Hoover who ate the Human-Human Fruit and aspires to be a doctor. But with the introduction of a friendly face also comes an unfriendly one, as Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hats will clash during this portion of the season with Wapol, leader of the Drum Kingdom. Played by Rob Colleti, Wapol ate the Munch-Munch Fruit, which allows him to eat any object or living being and absorb their characteristics.

Although we don’t see Wapol putting those chompers to use in the latest One Piece Season 2 trailer, he is shown blasting a cannonball at Luffy from his left arm. I’m assuming he ate a cannon at some point, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it actually looks like when he’s putting those Munch-Munch powers to unsettling use. But as far as his overall armored look goes, I’m very pleased with what Netflix’s One Piece is delivering. If the snippet of him in the trailer isn’t enough for you, here’s an official still that was also released of Colleti in full Wapol gear.

I won’t get into details on what happens with Wapol and Chopper in Season 2 for those of you who haven’t read the manga and/or watched the anime. I will, however, point out that this trailer also gives us our first look at Katey Sagal’s Dr. Kureha and Mark Harelik’s Dr. Hiruluk. They’re two other characters who are important to Chopper’s story, but in a positive way, unlike Wapol.

Of course, Wapol isn’t the only antagonist who will be present in One Piece Season 2. In addition to the Straw Hats having to deal with Buggy and Alvira teaming up in Loguetown, they’ll also cross paths with Marine Captain Smoker, as well as multiple members of Baroque Works, including the aforementioned Miss All Sunday, Miss Wednesday, Mr. 9, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, Miss Goldenweek and Mr. 3. We get more peeks at them in this trailer, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t also point out that our latest look at the giant whale Laboon shows him with the Straw Hates’ Jolly Roger painted over his scars.

One Piece Season 2 premieres its eight episodes on Tuesday, March 10. Netflix has also renewed the show for a third season, which is filming now and will introduce characters like Cole Escola’s Bon Clay and Xolo Maridueña’s Portgas D. Ace. So the good news is that while we don’t know when Season 3 will come out yet, it definitely won’t be as long of a wait compared to Season 2.

It won’t be too much longer until Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 premieres on the 2026 TV schedule and finally follows up on that wild Season 1 finale ending that aired two years ago. Mere minutes after Cate, May and Keiko returned from Axis Mundi and emerged onto Skull Island, Kong immediately showed up to wreak havoc on that stormy night. Seeing more of the giant gorilla is one of the main reasons I’ve been looking forward to the Apple TV subscription-exclusive show’s return, and the latest Monarch Season 2 trailer has eased a concern I had about Kong’s involvement.

I’ve been worried that the only time we’ll see Kong in Monarch Season 2 is in the premiere, as it’s not like the next batch of episodes are going to take place solely on Skull Island. Unlike Godzilla, Kong can’t just swim off to wherever he pleases, and since Season 2 takes place roughly seven years before the events of Godzilla vs. Kong, he hasn’t ventured into Hollow Earth yet. So once the main characters made it off Skull Island, then there wouldn’t be a need for the simian Titan anymore.

Fortunately, that doesn’t seem like it’ll be the case at all. While we don’t know yet precisely when Cate, May, Keiko and the rest will depart Skull Island, this Monarch: Legacy of Monsters trailer shows that we will get to see Kong do more than just stomp around and be territorial. He will get to fight what looks like the mysterious Titan X, as will Godzilla. Kurt Russell’s Lee Shaw (who’s somehow still alive) outright says in the trailer that both those Titans will be needed to defeat this latest kaiju threat.

Now before anyone gets too excited, don’t count on Godzilla and Kong to team up against Titan X or any other giant monsters that emerge to cause trouble. Again, Godzilla vs. Kong happens further down on the MonsterVerse timeline, and even if they did cross paths prior to that 2021 movie, they certainly wouldn’t be willing to fight alongside each other. We’ll instead see them duke it out with Titan X separately, and I’m looking forward to seeing whether it’s Godzilla or Kong who kills this tentacled thing.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 premieres Friday, February 27 on Apple TV. Though there’s no word yet on whether Season 3 will happen, it has been announced that Wyatt Russell will reprise the younger Lee Shaw in a prequel spinoff set in the 1980s. You can also look forward to another Godzilla/Kong team-up when Godzilla x Kong: Supernova hits theaters on March 26, 2027.

Back in December, the first teaser for Kristoffer Borgli's The Drama arrived online, and it kept things vague. It established that the movie stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as an engaged couple, and that things take a bit of a turn in the run up to their wedding, but it offered not much more. Now, we have the first full trailer for the film, and while it gives us a much better idea of what’s going on, I love that it’s still maintaining a big mystery.

Again, we find Zendaya and Pattinson (set to appear in three movies together this year) as Emma and Charlie, young people who are deeply in love, but there is a turning point when they have some wine with married friends played by Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie. Haim’s character suggests that they do a kind of pre-wedding trust exercise by admitting the worst thing that they’ve ever done, and they go around in a circle making their confessions… but then the tone of the conversation changes when Emma spills her secret. Fun very quickly turns into fiery outrage, and it seems that the question that will be addressed in the movie will be whether or not the relationship can survive the revelation… whatever it happens to be.

It needs to be said that I am so, so, so happy that this trailer not only doesn’t give away Emma’s “worst thing,” but it teases everyone else’s “worst thing” as well. I don’t know if this is a detail that will successfully be kept under wraps as we get closer to the release date of the film and more marketing materials emerge, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed, as this is exactly the kind of thing audiences shouldn’t know about until they are sitting in a dark theater watching the drama/The Drama unfold on the big screen.

The film is Kristoffer Borgli’s follow-up to 2023’s Dream Scenario, and that alone has me interested in seeing this 2026 movie at the first opportunity (Nicolas Cage-led film was #10 on my personal Top 15 list for the year), but my anticipation for the work has now taken on a new flavor, as my curiosity about the darkness that is being cooked up here is perfectly tantalizing.

Mark your calendars now, and then join me in the adventure that will be trying to avoid any and all potential spoilers until the film premieres, as there will certainly be people in the world who can’t be patient and need answers now.

Every time it seems like we’ve seen the last of Maul, the Star Wars franchise finds a new way to bring him back. This latest time, however, is different, because the former apprentice to Darth Sidious is getting his own Disney+ subscription-exclusive show that premieres on the 2026 TV schedule in just a few months. The first trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has finally premiered, and while there’s no shortage of action and thrills in the preview, what really caught my attention is how a character from Ahsoka will appear in the upcoming Star Wars TV show.

For context, Maul – Shadow Lord takes place roughly a year after The Clone Wars and around a decade before the tattooed Zabrak cameoed in Solo: A Star Wars Story. This is a time when the Empire is ruling with an iron fist and sending its Inquisitors to kill any Jedi or skilled Force users who survived Order 66. And yet, even knowing about Maul’s time period, I was surprised to see the trailer show Marrok, an Inquisitor who was first seen in Ahsoka Season 1, which takes place over half a decade after Return of the Jedi.

Marrok was shown serving Morgan Elsbeth in her quest to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, and he crossed lightsaber blades with Ahsoka Tano twice. While I did briefly wonder during Ahsoka Season 1 if Marrok might be a brainwashed Ezra Bridger, that thought proved incorrect when we saw Ahsoka cut him down and his body erupt in a cloud of green mist. Tales of the Empire later identified Marrok as the Inquisitor called First Brother, but it was never clarified what his specific deal in Ahsoka was, namely if he’d simply manage to live through the rise and fall of the Empire, or if the green mist indicated he’d been resurrected by the Nightsisters.

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord may be able to clear that up, as the trailer shows Marrok, voiced by X-Men ’97’s A.J. LoCascio, fighting Maul, reprised by Sam Witwer. It’s not surprising that Palpatine wants Maul dead given his considerable Force abilities and their long-severed connection as master and apprentice. Alas, we also know it won’t be Marrok who ends Maul’s life (that honor belongs to Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Rebels Season 3), which then begs the question: will we see the Inquisitor die in Maul – Shadow Lord, be it by the title protagonist’s hand or someone else’s?

If we do, then that would confirm that Marrok was a reanimated corpse during Ahsoka and flesh out his character a little bit. Hopefully some light will be shed on this mystery when Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres its first two episodes on April 6, followed by two more episodes each week up until the finale’s release on May 4, a.k.a. Star Wars Day. The animated series’ cast also includes Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, and Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, among others.

After languishing in development hell for over a decade and a half, the Masters of the Universe reboot is now less than half a year away from premiering on the 2026 movies schedule. This second film adaptation of the popular franchise, following the 1987 one starring Dolph Lundgren, sees Nicholas Galitzine bringing Prince Adam, a.k.a. He-Man, to life. Following a teasy look at Galitzine’s He-Man wielding the Power Sword from almost a year ago, the first Masters of the Universe trailer has finally arrived, and it looks like a total blast. Gonna need my own power sword after this.

Traditionally, Prince Adam’s only tie to Earth is that his mother hails from there. However, this new Masters of the Universe movie is going several steps further by having Adam crash-land on Earth as a 10-year-old and get separated from his Power Sword. 15 years later, he finally claims his weapon again and ventures back to Eternia, only to discover it’s being ruled with an iron fist by the sinister Skeletor, played by Jared Leto. With the help of allies like Camila Mendes’ Teela and Idris Elba’s Man-At-Arms, Adam will fight to take back his homeworld from this bony brute and embrace his destiny of becoming the mighty He-Man.

The trailer really plays up how "normal" and Earth-y Adam has become, but it doesn't take much beyond a sword-shaped nudge in the direction of heroism, and he is only too happy to jump into action. Which is a good thing, because he'll need every ounce of energy and stamina to take down Skeletor and his minions. (Also, the word normal only half-applies here, since Galitzine is way more bulked-up than most at that age.)

Speaking of...no sign of Jared Leto's face here, so maybe audiences will buy into Skeletor's evil without thoughts of Morbius or Tron: Ares running amok.

It's a fierce look for the villain, and one that will no doubt lead to countless toys produced. (Such is the MOTU cycle of life.) Do I wish his costume better represented the bright blues and purples of the cartoon? Perhaps. Maybe we'll get to see a flashback where his earliest costume skews more colorful in that way.

Of course, this movie is way more than just its core hero and villain. The Masters of the Universe cast also includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morenna Baccarin as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, SNL vet Kristen Wiig as Roboto, James Purefoy as King Randor, and Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, among others. We’ll also get to see Cringer in his Battle Cat form, but it hasn’t been announced who, if anyone, is voicing the character.

No sign of Dolph Lundgren cameos in the movie, but I'm still holding out hope that his vague tease will pay off in the final film.

Behind the scenes, Travis Knight of Kubo and the Two Strings and Bumblebee fame directed the blockbuster, which gives context for why the digital effects aren't the exact same kind that we're used to. Meanwhile, Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee and Dave Callaham all worked on the script.

Masters of the Universe hits theaters on June 5, 2026. Last year set an exceptionally high bar for cinematic horror. There wasn’t a single month that went by without the debut of at least one excellent new scary film. Because of all that success, I find it hard to imagine that 2026 will be able to match it… but there are definitely some titles that are already generating excitement early on the movie release calendar. One is Sam Raimi’s Send Help, which is set to arrive in theaters toward the end of this month – but after watching this first trailer for Ian Tuason’s undertone, it too has instantly landed on my most-anticipated list.

A Canadian feature that premiered last summer at the Fantasia International Film Festival before being picked up for distribution by A24, undertone doesn’t star any big names, and it’s Tuason’s feature debut as a writer/director, but it’s an upcoming horror movie that should now be on the radar of every genre fan, because this trailer absolutely rules. The imagery is dark and eerie, and the story is interesting, but what’s really selling this film is the aural experience, and I’m fascinated to see what it’s like over the reported 85-minute runtime.

Nina Kiri, best known for playing Alma on The Handmaid’s Tale, stars in the film as a paranormal podcast host named Evy – and she is front and center as the only principal character featured (everyone else is represented as off-screen voices). After moving to take care of her dying mother, she and her co-host are sent audio files said to feature a married couple being tormented by paranormal activity in their home, but listening to the recordings herself ends up having unintended, unexpected and dangerous consequences.

Simply watching this undertone trailer is a trip from a sound perspective, as it made me feel as though I was being enveloped in creepy noises, whispers, and the cheerful singing of “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” – and that’s the simple result of my computer’s two-channel speakers. I can only imagine how terrifying/awesome/uncomfortable it will be to see the movie on the big screen surrounded by speakers. I can’t say that I am much familiar with the works of credited sound designers David Gertsman and Steph Copeland, but this movie definitely seems like it’s going to be a massive showcase for their skills.

Are you, like me, now utterly intrigued? If so, the best news of all that I have to offer here is that audiences won’t have to wait long for the movie’s arrival. As revealed at the end of this trailer, undertone will be playing in theaters starting on March 13. If the full thing hits like this brief preview does, I expect it to end up on plenty of “best horror of 2026” lists come December.

We all know the legend of Robin Hood, who stole from the rich, gave to the poor, was a talented archer, etc. Many actors have played the outlaw on film for more than a century, and Hugh Jackman’s the latest to give it a go for The Death of Robin Hood. While it still hasn’t been announced when the upcoming A24 movie will premiere on the 2026 release schedule, we do now have the first The Death of Robin Hood trailer to watch, and it’s quickly apparent that Jackman is playing a version of the character who’s not for the kids to see.

This is a Robin Hood who’s killed many adversaries over his lifetime and described as not a hero, but a “murderous brigand.” After being gravely injured in a battle, Hugh Jackman’s character begs for death, but is instead saved by a mysterious woman played by Jodie Comer. So with his story continuing, Robin is left to grapple with his past and potentially change the course of his life, which is what Comer’s character does for the people who come to the island where she lives. It also looks like he’ll put his violent set of skills to work protecting the people who’ve taken him in. So expect plenty more beheadings, stabbings, arrows shot and more, but this time for a noble cause.

The Death of Robin Hood is the second movie Hugh Jackman has lined up this year, the first being the mystery comedy The Sheep Detectives, which comes out in May. This trailer also comes just a few weeks after his latest movie, Song Sung Blue, premiered in theaters. I look forward to seeing Jackman’s Robin Hood dispatch his enemies in all kinds of gory fashion and learn if he can truly achieve salvation. But like I said before, leave the kids at home if you plan to see The Death of Robin Hood in theaters, as there’s no question this will more than earn an R rating.

Along with Jodie Comer, Hugh Jackman is joined in The Death of Robin Hood by Bill Skarsgård as Little John, as well as Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe in undisclosed roles. Michael Sarnoski wrote and directed the thriller, which filmed last year from early February to late March. This is Sarnoski’s second A24 movie, the first being the Nicolas Cage-led Pig from 2021, and he also helmed 2024’s A Quiet Place: Day One.

I’m hoping that The Death of Robin Hood ends up being one of the more successful takes on the archer’s mythology, as Hollywood’s last two Robin Hood movies, which respectively starred Russell Crowe and Taron Egerton, failed to impress. And at least this gives us another action-oriented Hugh Jackman role to enjoy while we await his return as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been close friends since they were in high school together, and anyone remotely familiar with their body of work also knows they have a long history of professionally collaborating together. This began when they starred in and wrote 1997’s Good Will Hunting, which netted them the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Their latest team-up is the cop thriller The Rip, one of the first 2026 movie releases. A new trailer for this Netflix subscription-exclusive feature has been released, and I’m already getting tense about what’s in store for these characters.

Damon and Affleck respective star as Lieutenant Dane Dumars and Detective Sergeant JD Byrne in this story about a group of Miami cops who discover millions of dollars stored in barrels inside a derelict house. Naturally that amount of money is going to cause problems when they start splitting it amongst themselves, and when outside forces learn about its seizure, they start to wonder if they even trust each other. We even see Dumars question if Byrne is a snitch, and I’m wondering if one of them will be among the dead by the time The Rip is over, because you know a lot of bodies are going to be dropped.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are joined in The Rip (which released its first trailer last September) by Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins and Kyle Chandler. Joe Carnahan wrote and directed the feature, with this following his 2025 features Shadow Force and Not Without Hope. The Rip marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Artists Equity, Damon and Affleck’s production company that they founded in 2022. The movie’s release follows a little over three years after Affleck referred to Netflix as an “assembly line.”

The Rip is Damon and Affleck’s 15th collaboration together, whether it be starring opposite one another, or one or both of them working behind the scenes. The last time they shared the screen with each other was in 2023’s Air, which was also the first movie that Artists Equity put out. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for Damon and Affleck to do a movie where they’re playing cops, but hey, better late than never!

We’ll see how the latest team-up between these two Hollywood icons turned out when The Rip is released January 16 on Netflix, the same day that 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will start playing in theaters. Whatever twists and turns await Damon and Affleck’s characters in this cop thriller, it’s already quite evident that this is one of those movies not to watch if you’re looking for a relaxing time, but rather to get your pulse racing a bit.

If ever there was a time to promote a biopic about iconic Hollywood actor Jimmy Stewart, December is it. The star of one of the best Christmas movies of all time is getting his own story told as part of the upcoming 2026 movie schedule, but when actor KJ Apa was tapped to play him, I can't say I was immediately overjoyed.

Don't get me wrong, I loved KJ Apa in Riverdale, not to mention his recent stint romping around as Mr. Fantasy (allegedly or whatever). That said, I was unsure if the New Zealand actor could effectively emulate one of the most iconic American actors of all time. Then I saw the trailer above, and my jaw dropped to the floor when I heard his imitation of Stewart's iconic voice.

KJ Apa Absolutely Nailed The Iconic Voice Of Jimmy Stewart

Jimmy Stewart has a rather distinctive voice that, to be frank, would ruin any attempt to make a biopic without a spot-on impression at its core. So, when I learned a foreign-born actor would attempt to replicate the unique drawl and accent of the man behind hits like It's A Wonderful Life, The Philadelphia Story, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, I was more than a little concerned.

There were times when KJ Apa struggled even to maintain his American Archie accent in Riverdale, which led to the character having a lisp at times. It only took a few seconds to realize that it wouldn't be a problem in Jimmy, however, as he sounds like a dead ringer for Stewart in these clips from the biopic, which is set to release on November 6th, 2026.

Jimmy also has a litany of other stars in the mix, including Kara Killmer, Neal McDonough, Max Casella, Jason Alexander, and Rob Riggle. Stewart's daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, is an executive producer.

What Is Jimmy About?

The Jimmy biopic, as is often the case, aims to hit some of the highlights of the actor's life, including his time on the sets of iconic old movies. Primarily, though, this movie will center around his time in the Army Air Corps, which he joined not long after winning an Oscar for his work in The Philadelphia Story.

The actor was initially granted an exemption from the draft due to being underweight, but worked with a trainer until he was fit to serve. He ended his military career with two Distinguished Flying Crosses and four Air Medals. He also won the French Croix de Guerre with bronze palm.

This will be the second biopic for KJ Apa, who will play Bradley Nowell in the upcoming biopic about the band Sublime. If Apa can pull off imitating Jimmy Stewart's voice and then sing "Santeria" in another movie, well, I might just have to give him his flowers as one of the greatest actors of the new generation. Jokes aside, I do hope he thrives in both roles, and have high hopes after seeing this short trailer for the movie.

As mentioned, Jimmy is coming to theaters on November 6th. It's set to be a big year for biopics, it seems, as the upcoming music biopic for Michael Jackson is on the way as well. After watching the trailer for that movie on the King of Pop, I am psyched to see the film just as much as I am this one.

It’s been a few years since the filmmaking maestro Steven Spielberg graced fans with a new big-screen production. However, it’s been known for some time now that he’s been working on an upcoming sci-fi flick slated for the 2026 movie schedule. Up until now, that project’s title hadn’t been revealed but, via its newly released first trailer, we know it’s called Disclosure Day. This initial batch of footage seems to indicate that Spielberg is spinning a darker extraterrestrial tale and, at this point, I’m already all in.

This trailer for Disclosure Day is the definition of a teaser, as it quickly throws viewers into what looks like a dire situation, without going too deep into specifics. Based on what's shown, it would seem that aliens (or some other kind of otherworldly entities) are trying to make their presence known to humanity. However, it appears the powers that be are attempting to cover that up from the general public. Yet one character (played by Josh O’Connor) is set on disclosing the hidden information to the public.

On the one hand, this feature seems to have a lot of the trappings associated with extraterrestrial-based films, from crop circles to a public message being broadcast across the airwaves. (I already can’t stop thinking about that scene of Emily Blunt’s character speaking that alternate language.) Still, if there’s anything that should be known about Spielberg is that there’s more to his work than meets the eye. There’s some interesting iconography here, including the shots of those gathered woodland creatures.

It would be an understatement to say that some of the best Spielberg movies are stories about beings from outer space like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Those two films are very different from each other, and Disclosure Day feels like something else entirely. I love that it feels a bit more grim but at the same time, it’s so bleak that there’s no room for hope.

The last several months have seen information about Steven Spielberg’s UFO film, which is written by Jurassic Park’s David Koepp, slowly reach the surface. What’s long been known, though, is that the Oscar winner assembled a stellar cast for this production. Aside from the previously mentioned Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor (who spoke about working with Spielberg), Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell and Colman Domingo. That’s certainly an impressive roster, and I can’t wait to see the work the cast puts in.

Marketing for the forthcoming science fiction flick seems to be ramping up as well, with this trailer being the latest (and biggest) piece of that campaign thus far. Last week, billboards for the movie began to surface, and they featured a teasy and creepy image. It’s hard not to wonder how Universal Pictures’ marketing team will capitalize on the alien theme moving forward but, if they really get creative, this could be a fun advertisement campaign.

Regardless of how those plans turn out, though, I’ll be seated (as others likely will be) to see what Steven Spielberg has in store for this movie. Even after all these years, the man hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to moviemaking, and I’m confident that his latest alien movie will be a sight to behold.

Disclosure Day is set to open in theaters on June 12, 2026. I’m excited about what else we may possibly learn about the movie in the months to come.

In recent weeks, we've seen a number of exciting new trailers arrive online – from our first real look at Toy Story 5 to the debut extended look at Supergirl – and they've given us reason to anticipate some exciting movies coming out in the first half of 2026. Tonight, however, we have a special treat: while the new Street Fighter video game adaptation isn't set to make its way into theaters until next fall, we now have our very first look at the feature via a brand new teaser trailer.

The reason for the special preview is because The Game Awards 2025 are going down this evening, and fans tuning into the show were delivered an extra early look at a film that won't be arriving in theaters until next October. As is typically the case with early teasers like this, there is not much to glean from the material when it comes to deciphering the story, but we do know two things: the depictions of all the characters are extremely faithful to the games, and the action looks super ridiculous and fun.

If you're like me and grew up during the arcade days of the 1990s, this Street Fighter trailer hits like a nostalgia bomb. From Andrew Koji as Ryu, to David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, to Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, it's amazing to see all of the classic fighting characters brought to life like this – and that goes for both their costumes and the ass-kicking that they unleash.

In addition to those already mentioned, the upcoming video game movie also stars Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka (double trailer day for him today!), Roman Reigns as Akuma, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson as Balrog, and Cody Rhodes as Guile. The movie is the second feature from filmmaker Kitao Sakurai, who directed the 2021 comedy Bad Trip before helming four episodes of the Peacock original series Twisted Metal (a.k.a. his first experience in the world of video game adaptation).

If all goes well, we might be heading into a very exciting time for video games in film and television. Following on the heels of Five Nights At Freddy's 2 premiering at the top of the box office this past weekend, Amazon Prime video will soon release Fallout Season 2, and next year's movie calendar includes titles like The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and the delayed Mortal Kombat II in addition to Street Fighter. If you're a gamer, there are some very exciting times ahead.

Street Fighter wrapped principal photography just last month and is now in post-production, which makes its preview arriving now all the more surprising. Hopefully the film will be able to keep piquing our excitement in the many months ahead, as Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures will be delivering the feature into theaters on October 16, 2026.

Fans who have spent years watching the DC movies in order were recently treated to a new shared universe courtesy of co-CEO James Gunn. The first slate of projects is titled Gods and Monsters, and will once again occupy the big screen with Craig Gillespie's Supergirl. Fans have been curious about the upcoming DC movie ever since star Milly Alcock cameod in Superman, and she takes center stage in the recently released first trailer for Supergirl. The footage features the drunken title character, cool cosmic adventures, as well as glimpse at Jason Momoa's Lobo.

What we know about Supergirl has been limited, so the above trailer is sure to quickly go viral. It opens on a hungover Kara Zor-El, who has seemingly been partying throughout space since we last saw her. Luckily she's got Krypto with her, so she's not completely alone... although her training of the superpowered dog definitely leaves something to be desired.

Eventually she meets a character named Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by actress Eve Ridley. This pair seemingly sticks together through various cosmic conflicts. I assume that Lobo is tasked with hunting them down, making way for Momoa to make his DCU debut following his tenure as Aquaman (which is streaming with a HBO Max subscription).

While Marvel is known for its tight security, it's safe to say DC is also operating with caution. This teaser is careful not too reveal too much about Supergirl, which should allow for the movie's surprises to still hit when it arrives over the summer. Aside from Krypto there doesn't appear to be any returning characters in the blockbuster, although some fans might be holding out hope for David Corenswet's Clark Kent to make an appearance. After Alcock's cameo in Superman, why not return the favor?

The most heart-tugging moment from this teaser (aside from everything Krypto does) has to be the way Kara spoke about the destruction of Krypton. Because while Clark Kent was just a baby when he was saved and sent to Earth, Milly Alcock's character was a young woman. She's clearly plagued by memories of her planet's death, which I have to assume is part of the reason why she's relying so much on drinking throughout the cosmos.

It looks like Supergirl will take us to a few different strange planets, and I have to wonder if/how her abilities are affected by those travels. Kryptonians get their power from the Yellow Sun, so if Kara and her dog travel somewhere else, could she end up powerless? This might be an interesting way to keep the action sequences with appropriate stakes, while also showing her fighting abilities while not depending on God-like powers.

All will be revealed when Supergirl hits theaters on June 26th as part of the 2026 movie release list. For now fans can re-watch the first three DCU projects over on HBO Max including Superman.

Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are amongst the busiest stars in Hollywood, and their latest film has not been unveiled in its full (and stressful) glory. The two A-listers are set to headline The Drama, an upcoming film from A24. Up to this point, the movie had only been teased, but the first trailer has now officially been released. Based on the footage, this is a story about pre-marital jitters and how a couple is forced to deal with such issues. What I really wasn’t expecting, though, was to feel so stressed out after watching this teaser.

The Drama centers around young couple Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and Charlie Thompson (Pattinson) who are set to walk down the aisle. However, ahead of their big day the pair face some personal conflicts, which are sparked when one partner learns some dangerous secrets about the other. The manifestation of said situation seems to be pure chaos and awkwardness as teased in the video above. From that cringey pre-wedding interview to the actual big day, which sees Charlie with a bloodied face, this is going to be wild.

More than a few scenes stand out from this teaser, including the awkwardly tense photoshoot that Charlie and Emma take part in. The mere sight of Charlie trying to muster up a smile as the photographer attempts to direct him is downright cringeworthy. Even the brief shot of Emma stopping in the middle of the street as a car heads her way makes me worried. What also piques my interest are the brief glimpses of the actual wedding, which could be a wild affair in and of itself.

Please don’t misunderstand me when I call this new film from writer/director Kristoffer Borgli (whose last film was the acclaimed Dream Scenario) stressful or cringey. I mean all of that in the best way possible, as I’m indeed a fan of psychological cinema and anxiety-inducing films. At first glance, Borgli appears to be offering a case study of the potential breakdown of a romance, though I, of course, can’t say for sure that Emma and Charlie won’t end up tying the knot. In any case, I’m ready to check this film out, and I’m not alone.

The first true piece of marketing for Robert Pattinson and Zendaya’s film was released earlier this week, as she dropped a poster that looked like a candid photo of the lead characters. On Instagram, admirers took to the comments section of her post and practically swooned over the sight of the two lead actors playing a couple. Funny enough, The Drama won’t be the only entry from the 2026 movie schedule to feature both Zendaya and Pattinson.

Also, in 2026, both of the aforementioned actors will appear in the big-screen adaptation of The Odyssey, which is Christopher Nolan’s latest film. Not only that, but both stars will also appear in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which recently wrapped filming.

So are Zendaya and Robert Pattinson now a package deal, or what? I can’t answer that question with complete certainty, but what I can say is that I’m excited to see what kind of drama (sorry, I had to do it) they get wrapped up in during the events of Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming movie. Part of me thinks that after I see the film, I’ll have a somewhat different perspective on weddings and what typically precedes them.
