Young Sheldon alum Lance Barber recently confirmed his awareness of all the wild memes on TikTok involving his character, George Cooper. Social media users put the Cooper family patriarch in wild positions that make him look like the subject of one of the darkest true crime shows one could imagine. While fans of the show may still be mourning George and his tragic death at the end of the series, edits with millions of likes are making the family patriarch look like a serial killer. On that note, I love Barber's take.

Barber recently appeared at FanExpo, where he confirmed he learned about the trend, and he revealed he'd been approached by people who never watched the show but knew him from social media. Barber, who was last on the 2026 TV schedule via an appearance on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, talked about how his own kids would get in on the fun:

In case there are any Netflix subscription holders wondering, no, you will not find an episode of Young Sheldon in which George serves him up as a brisket. As mentioned, however, there are a ton of memes on TikTok with wild engagement. For those who aren't on "that side" of social media, here's an example:

That's one of many and, yes, they all feature scenes from Young Sheldon that are re-cut to look really dark out of context. I really wish these content creators would start watching Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage so they can work in that scene where George Sr. appeared as a zombie.

I also wonder if Chuck Lorre and other creatives of The Big Bang Theory are watching this and realizing they could reference this in the upcoming spinoff, Stuart Fails To Save The Universe. With the trailer showing that Stuart will come in contact with alternate versions of the show's characters, it would be wild for Lance Barber to play a version of George Cooper that was a serial killer.

Overall, it seems like anything is on the table with that multiverse-bending spinoff, but who knows if it'd ever do something as dark as make Young Sheldon resemble one of the best true crime shows on streaming. I guess if it never happens, there's no shortage of unhinged George Cooper memes on TikTok for me to enjoy and, presumably, there are more edits to come. Maybe we can get one where a detective character finally brings George to justice and takes him in for booking!

Iain Armitage didn't return as Sheldon Cooper in Season 2 of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, and while viewers' mileage may vary, star Montana Jordan is completely fine with that. As fans watch the CBS sitcom close out its Spring run and set the stage for Season 3's arrival later in the 2026 TV schedule, the star assured CinemaBlend that Sheldon will return when the time is right.

I had a chance to speak to Jordan ahead of the Season 2 finale of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, and talk about how, to this point, we haven't seen his younger brother in the series. I've heard the showrunners explain why this is the case, and even Armitage talked about it, but how does the star of the series feel? Montana Jordan is ok with it, adding that he puts his full trust in the creators to decide when the time is right:

I'm glad he has faith in the creative team, because once Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage brought back George Sr. for the second time, despite his dying at the end of Young Sheldon, even I had to wonder what was going on. That said, it's hard to argue with Jordan, who put his full confidence that there is a plan and that Season 2 didn't need Iain Armitage to show up just yet.

Armitage, meanwhile, has appeared on Ghosts, which airs right after Georgie & Mandy. It almost feels like we're being teased at this point, so maybe Season 3 will finally pull the trigger and bring Armitage back into the fold. Until then, Montana Jordan would love to see him on the set of the show to hang out whenever he has the time:

I'm not surprised to hear Montana Jordan and Iain Armitage are still close, given they worked for years together on Young Sheldon. Armitage even made the trip to go see Jordan after the birth of his daughter, and made the perfect reference as well.

The situation is not the same for Georgie and Sheldon, who became estranged until they reconciled decades later on The Big Bang Theory. Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has alluded to the two talking over the phone sporadically, though it's largely pertaining to questions Georgie has about specific things. Sheldon will remain at university throughout most of this time, which led to some resentment from Georgie, who was left to look after both his mother and sister in addition to his own family. It makes me wonder what could happen when Sheldon finally does show up.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2 is available to stream right now with a Paramount+ subscription. Season 3 is set to kick off in the fall television season on CBS, and I can't wait to see what's ahead for the Cooper/McAllister household in new episodes.

Georgie screwed up big time when he went to the rival weather girl with a news story Mandy passed on, but I can't help but agree with his line of thinking. As Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage presented another struggle for the couple, I think there's a recurring theme in Mandy's job.

For those who missed out, Georgie joined the Medford Chamber of Commerce to establish more business connections for the tire shop. When he found out he'd be the youngest member to join in the organization's history, he told Mandy she should cover it at her new weather job to help promote his business. When Mandy passed, he offered the story to another channel, which just so happened to be the same station Mandy left after her big controversy.

Before reaching out, Georgie shared his logic in doing so with Ruben and Jim, who both agreed he had a point. I also felt that way, noting that there never seems to be as much urgency to do what's best for his career as there is her own:

He's exactly right, and that includes anything that comes at the expense of Georgie and his own career. His business suffered when she doubled down on her "God is a woman" comments that didn't sit right with the people of Medford, and she wrote a hit piece on the country club to elevate her status at the news station after Georgie joined to make more business connections.

Those are just examples from the 2026 TV schedule, but honestly, it feels like Georgie might've touched on one of Mandy's biggest character flaws. She's often only thinking of herself when making these big decisions, and less concerned about how it may impact Georgie and others around her.

Does that mean Georgie was right to give the story to her chief rival at the other television station? Absolutely not, and she was justified in having him cancel the story. That said, there was no real reason for her to pass on the story, and it was newsworthy. Did she have an unspoken reason for passing on the story? I have to wonder. Is this the big clue toward what will eventually drive them apart?

George Sr. returned to Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, but only via a dream sequence like his zombie return in Season 1. This episode was a little more reverent to the late Young Sheldon character, as Georgie wanted to honor his father with a new scoreboard for the high school on the anniversary of his death. Now, Lance Barber has reacted to his character's tribute in this episode, and I'm happy he had the same reaction I did.

Actor Lance Barber spoke to TVLine about his brief return to the 2026 TV schedule and how Georgie ultimately honored his father with a sign that put his name on the football field's snack bar. It was a tribute that I loved as a fan, so I was glad Barber felt the same way:

It's funny because Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage kept hammering on how much George Sr. loved sports and beer, that I totally forgot just how much food was part of the character as well. The snack bar reveal was great, and made me think back to the Young Sheldon episode where he tried to get Meemaw's secret recipe for brisket. It's wild to see how much the franchise has evolved since then, with yet another universe-breaking spinoff coming up.

It was another great appearance by George Sr., who seems to only pop up exclusively in dream form. I do have to say that he always comes off a lot meaner to his son in dreams than he ever did when he was alive, but maybe that's because it's Georgie's inner monologue of how he thinks his father would react. This time around, he treated Fred Fagenbacher like his son, rather than Georgie.

As for other notable moments in the episode, I loved Mary Cooper storming in to call out Fred for trying to sabotage Georgie's scoreboard idea as a petty way to get back at him for stealing his business. It's not often we see his rival at a loss for words, and I have to wonder if Mary will end up helping Georgie out with him more in the future.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage continues on CBS on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Season 2 is zooming along, and I'm wondering how it's going to close out. Things look solid between the couple right now, but could that change by the end of these episodes?

Young Sheldon ended almost two years ago after seven seasons, and while the show lives on with its spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Sheldon Cooper has not been seen since the series finale. Iain Armitage has been surprisingly absent from the spinoff, but the show has managed to name-drop him on a few occasions. Meanwhile, Armitage is still acting, even appearing on fellow CBS comedy Ghosts on the 2026 TV schedule. However, he's also been moving on professionally and literally growing up. Now, he's shared his thoughts on his "rebrand."

Armitage was a mere 9 years old when he began playing the younger version of Jim Parsons’ beloved and sometimes annoying Big Bang Theory character, and 14 when it ended. He took some time off after Young Sheldon, with his appearance on Ghosts being his first role post-Young Sheldon. But now the actor, who turns 18 in July, is looking forward to breaking away from his role as Sheldon Cooper and transitioning from being a child actor, as he told Us Weekly:

Considering it’s been almost 10 years since Armitage made his Sheldon Cooper debut, it’s definitely crazy to think that he’s now old enough to do edgier stuff. And he doesn’t seem to mind. It is fun to think about young Sheldon Cooper being all edgy now, but I guess that’s what calls for his rebrand, and I’m excited to see where this takes him.

Even though he is going through his rebrand and appearing on other shows, he is not putting Young Sheldon fully in his review mirror. Armitage literally grew up on the show, and he reflected on being a child actor and working on it for so long, and it sounds like the series will always hold a special place in his heart.

With Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage heading into its third season later this year, who knows what kind of opportunities will pop up for a potential return. And he’s not counting it out just yet:

Georgie & Mandy does have a pretty good excuse for why Sheldon hasn’t appeared since he is in California, but it has been disappointing not seeing him for the holiday episodes. It’s nice to know that Armitage is still open to appearing on the series and, in the meantime, is up to trying something new.

Fans can get a taste of Armitage’s rebrand with his appearance on Ghosts, which is streaming now with a Paramount+ subscription. Aside from his new movie, it’s unknown what else he will be working on, but it can be assumed it won’t be anything like his role as Sheldon Cooper. At the very least, Sheldon isn’t gone quite yet, and there’s a big possibility he could be making a return in the near future.

George Sr.'s death will factor into another episode of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage on April 30th. After a bizarre appearance in Season 1 when he was a zombie in his son's sickness-induced nightmare, this episode looks like it'll be much heavier as Georgie pays respects to his father on the anniversary of his death.

The CBS sitcom's run on the 2026 TV schedule has delivered some big twists for Mandy, such as having her leave her old job. Now, it's Georgie's turn for a heavy moment, as a plan to honor his dad may go sideways thanks to his biggest rival.

Georgie Has A Plan To Honor George Sr. On The First Anniversary Of His Death

Georgie wants to do something big to honor his father on the anniversary of his death, and it sounds like he's found the perfect way to do so. We don't know exactly what that will be, but based on the title "A New Scoreboard and a Horse's You Know What," I'm guessing that he wants to purchase Medford High School a new scoreboard. This would be a great homage to George Sr., who was a football coach for the high school for many years.

We received word that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will bring back Lance Barber as George Sr. during the 2026 TV schedule. While I'm still bummed to see that Iain Armitage likely won't appear as Sheldon Cooper, I am happy to see the episode features a lot of supporting cast members like Doc Farrow (Coach Wilkins) and Rex Linn (Principal Petersen) from Young Sheldon.

Georgie's Biggest Rival May Do The Unthinkable

Unfortunately, it looks like there's some nastiness on the way, as Fred Fagenbacher might try to do the unthinkable in besmirching Georgie's tribute to his father. Take a look at the synopsis for the episode:

Fagenbacher and Georgie's feud over who has the superior tire chain in Medford has gotten particularly nasty, with Fagenbacher recently running an ad that slyly referenced Mandy's controversy after saying God was a woman. Now, it seems he's invested in ruining Georgie's attempt to honor his dad, which feels like a step way too far.

As for what he may try to do, we know that Fagenbacher has deeper pockets than Georgie. My guess is that he may try to fund the scoreboard and ensure that his own business name is on the board rather than McAllister Tire & Auto. Whatever happens, we can see that it upsets Mary Cooper enough that she goes to Fagenbacher's office to confront him about it directly. I don't blame her, because I'm not sure how I'd react if a rival got in the way of my tribute to a family member who passed.

I'm eager to see how this episode plays out, as sad as it may be, and will be watching when it arrives on CBS on Thursday, April 30th at 8:00 p.m. ET. I'll have tissues on hand, and have my fingers crossed for a happy ending to this heavy episode.

The Winter Olympics are over, which means Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is finally returning to the 2026 TV schedule for new episodes. While we know a bit about what's to come when Season 2 picks back up, there are still some unknowns to come. For example, will the season finale bring about the couple's split? Will Mandy leave Georgie for her old flame and boss Scott?

CinemaBlend's Riley Utley spoke to Christopher Gorham for Sheriff Country, but took a moment to ask about his recurring role on Georgie & Mandy. Gorham plays the aforementioned old flame, Scott, on the series, and we had to know how he feels about the couples' eventual split. Considering Georgie seems to think Scott is a threat to his marriage, we asked him about the future, and he had a funny take on why he hopes Scott is the culprit.

As much as he would love the job security of being steadily employed by two CBS shows, Christopher Gorham had to admit he's just as clueless as the rest of the cast when it comes to how the title couple will ultimately break up. Scott being the cause of the split would be great for him, but what does he actually believe?

Despite her increased attention around Medford as the "hot weekend weather girl," Gorham does not feel like Scott will be the reason Mandy and Georgie call it quits. He shared his hunch with CinemaBlend, and honestly, I have to agree with his assessement:

I generally agree infidelity feels like a pretty on-the-nose way for them to end their marriage, especially when Young Sheldon retconned George Sr. having an affair. It also feels a little too heavy for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, especially when half of each episode follows Mandy. Would audiences appreciate that, if it were revealed she cheated?

I also want to point out that while Scott could be a factor in the couple's split, there are many red flags in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage that could lead to the end of their relationship. Anything from family drama to stress tied to the auto shop could spell the end for these two, so it's not like Christopher Gorham is saying anything controversial in guessing Scott won't be the problem.

Based on these comments, I would reckon Season 2 might come and go without the couple splitting, and we'll have to wait until Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage to hit Season 3 to see if it'll happen there. Then again, if Scott had nothing to do with the split, could it be possible the breakup scene was filmed, and Gorham just wasn't there when it happened? These are the things that keep me up at night.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage airs new episodes on CBS on Thursdays. I'm excited to see how the rest of Season 2 plays out, and curious if Christopher Gorham's "hunch" about Georgie being the one to leave ends up being the truth.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2 is taking a break from the 2026 TV schedule while the Winter Olympics are happening, but there are some exciting updates on the horizon. A lot of familiar faces are set to return from the Young Sheldon days, including one people might not have expected so soon.

Despite that, I can't help but feel a bit frustrated that one name is left off this list of returning guest stars, and it won't take much guessing from fans to figure out who. Before we get into that, let's get into who we can expect to see return as we wait for more episodes to be available on CBS or with a Paramount+ subscription.

Lance Barber's George Sr. And Mothers Are Returning In Season 2

EW reported that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will feature Lance Barber as George Sr. in Season 2, Episode 18, airing later this Spring. This will be the second time Georgie's father appeared on the show, having previously popped up in a bizarre dream sequence when his son was sick.

In addition to Barber's return, the episode will also feature Zoe Perry and Raegan Revord as Mary and Missy Cooper, Rex Linn as Principal Petersen, and Doc Farrow as Coach Wilkins. No further details are provided, but it is worth noting the latter two were present in the Young Sheldon episode in which George Sr. died. If I were to guess, this episode will involve his death in some way.

How Are We Getting A Dead Character Twice, But Still No Sheldon Cooper?

With Lance Barber returning once again, I can't help but feel a bit frustrated that we're still waiting on Iain Armitage to return as Sheldon Cooper. While it is true that Georgie and Sheldon had a strained relationship later in life, I never interpreted the tension between them as Sheldon never came around, period.

I totally get the apprehension from the writing staff of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage about bringing back Iain Armitage so soon, and we don't even know for sure if the actor is available to appear. At the same time, when we're now bringing back a character who died in the previous series twice, I have to wonder when it'll finally be time for Sheldon to return home to Medford.

I don't need it to be a massive multi-episode arc, or even a full-length episode. Surely, there has to be a way for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage to work in a few brief scenes with Sheldon, even if it's just a brief phone call with Georgie. Give me something beyond mentions by the family, because I hate that I'm obsessing about this more than when the title characters will finally split up.

Aside from this one frustration, I am happy to see Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage finally return on Thursday, February 26th on CBS. I'm keeping my fingers crossed there's already a filmed Sheldon cameo in the works, because if we end this season without one, I may have to sound off yet again.

Ghosts delivered a cliffhanger in the final moments of Season 5 in the 2025 TV schedule with the arrival of some mysterious entities, and fans unfortunately have a long wait before resolution comes in the 2026 TV schedule. That said, co-showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman did tease something that won't spoil any cliffhangers: the arrival of Young Sheldon vet Iain Armitage. While Ghosts and the first Big Bang Theory spinoff are certainly very different shows, the bosses shared why the actor's arrival at Woodstone will be fun for Young Sheldon fans as well as regular Ghosts viewers.

News initially broke back in early December that Iain Armitage, a big Ghosts fan himself, had manifested himself a guest role on the sitcom for the new year. According to Joe Port, the showrunners were as invested in casting the young actor as he was in coming on board in a role. Speaking with TV Insider, Port said:

So, how exactly has it finally "worked out" for the former CBS star to make his return to the network for Ghosts, for an episode that will air nearly a full year after the Young Sheldon finale? Early details were that he would be playing a heightened version of himself rather than a new character, similar to what Mayim Bialik – another veteran of the Big Bang Theory TV universe – did on NBC's Night Court.

The fictionalized version of Iain Armitage was said to be participating in a high-stakes poker game. Joe Port shed some more light, saying that he's "sort of the celebrity of our Molly’s Game-type poker game that we have going on." If you'd asked me if I ever expected Ghosts to go in a Molly's Game direction with the teenage Young Sheldon star at the center, I certainly wouldn't have predicted it!

This isn't an episode designed for Molly's Game fans, however. Co-showrunner Joe Wiseman weighed in on how Armitage's appearance on Ghosts will come across to Young Sheldon devotees, saying:

Unfortunately, fans of both shows are in for a wait before seeing Iain Armitage playing "Iain Armitage" on Ghosts, and not just because the sitcom won't return to CBS' primetime lineup until late February. While the episode featuring the Young Sheldon alum was filming in December, it's not scheduled to air until April 16, 2026. Considering how much of a fan Armitage is of the spooky sitcom, hopefully there will be some fun behind-the-scenes posts as the episode approaches.

Ghosts series regular Danielle Pinnock already posted a throwback to her own guest appearance on Young Sheldon. Take a look:

Danielle Pinnock and the rest of the Ghosts cast will finally return to CBS on Thursday, February 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET, following Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage as usual. The long break is presumably due to the Winter Olympics taking over primetime during most of February, but fans at least don't have to worry that the delay will affect the odds of a sixth season.

Ghosts was renewed for both Season 5 and Season 6 earlier this year. As the wait continues, you can revisit earlier episodes streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.

CBS is the home of some of the biggest comedies of the 2025 TV schedule, with Ghosts and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage keeping the laughs coming even after the end of Young Sheldon in 2024. Now, Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage is returning to the network to appear on Ghosts in a pretty unconventional way as a guest star, and it's a dream come true for the young actor after he manifested it for himself.

According to Variety, Iain Armitage will guest star in an episode of Ghosts that will air in April of the 2026 TV schedule (and stream next day with a Paramount+ subscription). He won't be playing a brand new kind of character, but rather a "heightened version of himself," a la Mayim Bialik on Night Court and Topher Grace in Ocean's Eleven. The Ghosts version of Iain Armitage will arrive at Woodstone Mansion to participate in a high-stakes poker game. Assuming that the 17-year-old actor will be playing his own real-life age, the fictitious version of himself will be pretty young to be a higher-roller!

And the young actor himself may deserve the credit for his Ghosts guest-starring gig. It'll be his first network TV appearance since the end of Young Sheldon, and he first threw his support behind the idea back in the summer of 2025 over an Instagram exchange with Ghosts' pants-free (and Critics Choice-nominated actor) Asher Grodman.

Via TV insider, Armitage posted a pic back in July with Grodman to saying that they keep "having these Young Sheldon/Ghosts crossover moments!" The Bookie vet replied with "Right back at ya," and asked followers to "raise your hand if you think Iain needs to be on Ghosts ASAP." Fan responses are lost to time due to Instagram Stories expiring, but Armitage shared a photo of himself in character on Young Sheldon raising his hand.

It may have taken another five months for his guest star role to be confirmed after that exchange with Asher Grodman, but he's on his way! In an Instagram post about his casting for Ghosts, Iain Armitage hit up the comments to say:

The Season 5 episode reportedly began filming on December 10, so perhaps Armitage will share some behind-the-scenes photos from his long-awaited role to tide fans over until it hits the airwaves in the spring. It remains to be seen if he'll be a guest with a major role or more of a celebrity cameo, but hijinks are sure to ensue for the fictional Iain Armitage if he can't see the ghostly inhabitants of Woodstone.

Armitage's episode of Ghosts isn't expected to air until April 2026, but there are still a few episodes of the sitcom left before the end of the year on CBS' Thursday nights. You can also check out Young Sheldon streaming with an HBO Max subscription and/or Netflix subscription.

A lot of shows are winding down this time of year in anticipation of the launch of the 2026 TV schedule, but Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is still going strong with new episodes. We're even getting the series' first Christmas episode on CBS on December 18th. However, I can't help but be a bit of a Scrooge about the upcoming event, because there's a specific reason the first photos from it bummed me out.

It looks like the holiday episode in Season 2 will be a bit lighter than the Thanksgiving special in Season 1, as the family gets caught up in some classic sitcom hijinks. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're getting a big batch of guest stars based on the first images, and I think that means we probably won't see theYoung Sheldon character we're all wanting to see, Sheldon Cooper.

The McAllister's (Plus Missy) Are Going To The Beach For Christmas

“Miami Beach and a Magical Family Christmas” will take the core Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage cast to the beach for the holiday, and one guest star is along for the ride. Raegan Revord is back as Georgie's sister, Missy, and it looks like she's invited to vacation with the family in Miami in what might be a nod to one of the best Christmas movies of all time, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

Notably missing from underneath the umbrella is Mary Cooper, who is seen talking to Missy and Georgie in another photo released for the episode. Maybe Mary opted to stay back in Medford to hang out with her new boyfriend, or perhaps there's another reason?

Does Mary's Absence Mean We'll Miss Sheldon's Return To Medford?

It doesn't look like Mary will accompany the family to Miami, but why would she stay back when Missy and Georgie are in Florida? This is only speculation, but my guess right now is that Sheldon may come home from Caltech for the holidays, and I can only assume he's not a fan of the beach.

From the very start of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, there have been questions of whether Iain Armitage would reprise his role as Sheldon Cooper. So, despite Georgie's strained relationship with his brother years later, it's easy to imagine the two interacting at least a bit during the holiday season.

I suppose, rather than cook up some reason why Sheldon couldn't come home for the holidays, it's more interesting to have Georgie and Mandy go on a Christmas vacation. Plus, maybe this vacation could end up informing us more about how these two will break up.

Overall, based on pictures, it looks like this is going to be one of the lighter episodes of the season. And who knows, maybe we'll get a quick scene with Iain Armitage that's being kept a secret until the actual airing? If he is coming back, it would make sense to make it a surprise.

However, as of right now, it seems that Sheldon will not be going on vacation for the holidays.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2 is rolling right along on the 2025 TV schedule and giving viewers a lot to talk about. The latest episode featured Mary Cooper back out and dating following George Sr.'s death as well as her kids' reaction to it. Something viewers might've missed was the complete recreation of a set from Young Sheldon, which impressed me. That production-related endeavor also sparked a response from Montana Jordan.

For the latest episode of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, the production team completely recreated the Cooper family dining room from scratch, replicating the set that was once used on Young Sheldon. Montana Jordan talked about it further during an interview with TVLine, and shared just how pleased he was with his colleagues' work:

I totally agree with Montana Jordan, speaking as someone who just assumed some of the sets from Young Sheldon were held onto for scenes that would be filmed at the Cooper house. I almost wonder if there were people on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage who wished that were the case, because I can imagine it wasn't easy recreating that stage.

As mentioned, the episode centered around Mary's dating, and viewers even met the man that she's seeing. Georgie was initially upset by the news but, after he saw how happy his mother was, he decided to back off and keep his opinions to himself.

That said, I can't help but wonder if Mary's relationship continues, we may see more episodes in the Cooper family dining room and other areas of the house. It helps keep Mary and Missy in the story and, according to Montana Jordan, that's a good thing:

The bulk of the Cooper family has appeared on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, but we're still waiting on one major cameo. Actors on the show have discussed when, or if, Iain Armitage will appear in an episode and reprise his role as Sheldon Cooper.

So far, there's no word as to whether Armitage will pop up in Season 2, but it's always a possibility. If that were to be the case, I wonder if we'd see Sheldon's old bedroom recreated as well. I'd love for the production crew to meticulously recreate it, but I wouldn't fault them for focusing on the parts of the Cooper house that are already built.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage may not have time for Sheldon, what with all the issues cropping up from Mandy's increased popularity, and the stress Georgie's had trying to run the tire shop with Ruben. With all that going on, I'm not sure how the CBS sitcom would be able to squeeze in a Sheldon cameo, but perhaps they'd find a way!

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET, with episodes also available to stream on Paramount+ later. Season 2 is already shaping up to be better that Season 1 in my book, and we're only a few episodes in. I'm excited to see where this season goes, and whether any other Young Sheldon set pieces are recreated along the way.

We've known for weeks that Mary Cooper would re-enter the dating scene when Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage returned to the 2025 TV schedule, and even had an exclusive clip that confirmed it went well. What we didn't know was what this mystery man looked like, and after seeing him, I couldn't help but feel like he resembled a Young Sheldon character.

While one of Young Sheldon's bigger questions revolved around whether George Sr. had an affair during his marriage, there was a smaller storyline that left open the possibility for Mary to step out. Before we get to that, and the person it involves, let's talk about this new mystery man.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Introduced Mary's Boyfriend Joseph

Mary wasn't looking to date, but her mother, Connie, went ahead and set her up on a date with Joseph, a widower in her bowling league. We don't learn much about him in the latest Georgie & Mandy episode, beyond the fact that Mary seemed to enjoy his company, and he appeared to have the same love for religion she does3. I only say that because of his "Joseph & Mary" joke, which was just so corny but worked like a charm.

Joseph Kind Of Reminds Me Of Pastor Rob

I think it's mainly the mustache and the similar hairstyle, but Joseph reminded me a lot of Pastor Rob. For those who hadn't watched Young Sheldon, he was a youth pastor at the church with whom Mary became close. They used to have incredibly personal conversations, and even sneak in smoking cigarettes together. It became so suspicious that even George Sr. thought something was amiss, but Rob moved away, and nothing ever came of it.

Now we have Joseph, who also has a mustache. It's worth noting that George Sr. never sported any facial hair on Young Sheldon, which leads me to make the Pastor Rob connection. Is Joseph her subconscious pursuing a romance with Rob she never had?

It's possible, though Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage also featured a line in which Mary said Joseph's mustache made him look like Tom Selleck. It was a callback to a comment Mandy's mother Audrey made earlier in the episode about how Mary couldn't get a man as attractive as the actor.

Personally, I was just shocked to hear Selleck's name so much on CBS after Blue Bloods' cancellation. All this to say, it's possible that Mary is thinking of Pastor Rob, or she may have a thing for a man with a mustache.

Georgie & Mandy's FIrst Marriage airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Season 2 is rolling right along, and I'm loving the ride so far. That said, there is a meeting on the way I'd rather not see, mainly because I think it's going to end badly.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage puts its biggest moment in the title, and since its return to the 2025 TV schedule, I've wondered when the series might pull the trigger and split the duo up. Not even the actors know when it'll happen, which makes more sense after hearing an EP's thoughts on the timeline.

Steve Holland spoke to TV Insider about plans for Georgie and Mandy's big split, given that The Big Bang Theory already spoiled that it would happen eventually. According to the EP, it doesn't sound like it's going to happen anytime soon, unless he's just playing coy in his comment, seen below:

The way Holland describes it, it's the equivalent of the "Will they, won't they" trope with relationships in other television shows. This time around, however, we all know they're going to divorce eventually, and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage cast and crew are keeping their lips sealed on when it'll happen.

All this to say, Steve Holland didn't answer the question, but its predecessor,Young Sheldon, might give us an answer. George Sr.'s death was spoiled by The Big Bang Theory, but even so, it didn't occur until the series' final episodes. Holland gave a bit of additional insight in his comments below, which could provide viewers with an idea of when to expect it:

Well, at least we know not to expect it happening out of the blue! Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage split will happen eventually, which then makes me wonder if they'll end up reconciling after a divorce. After all its their "first" marriage, but there's nothing saying they won't get remarried down the line.

One thing I couldn't help notice is that Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is wasting zero time pushing its characters ahead into the future. The Season 2 premiere featured Georgie name-checking his future tire chain, Dr. Tire, as a long-term vision for how he wants to expand the business.

That said, he's still a long way from realizing his vision, and who knows if his relationship will hold throughout the ups and downs in their careers. There's also the drama of Mandy working for her former flame, who is now her boss. The show is planting a lot of seeds to show how they might eventually break up, which again calls back to Young Sheldon setting up George's eventual death with a couple of miniature heart attacks.

I guess we'll have to keep watching Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage on CBS on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET, and see when the show decides to split the two up. Based on recent comments, I'm going out on a limb and speculating it won't happen in Season 2, but maybe I'll be surprised!

The 2025 TV schedule is giving us Season 2 of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, and a storyline that I was shocked to hear about as a Young Sheldon fan. George Sr.'s passing in the previous series cast a shadow over the new sitcom, but now it's set to create drama as Mary Cooper tries to re-enter the dating scene.

Executive Producer Steve Holland spoke to TV Insider about Mary's dating taking center stage in her Season 2 return in the October 30th episode "A Will and a Dead Man's Wife." Holland talked about Mary's big move in the upcoming episode, and the immediate impact it has on her son, Georgie:

It's going to be another worry for Georgie, who is dealing with a lot in these upcoming episodes. He purchased the auto garage from Jim, and apparently, he will get into a fight in the early episodes as well. He's also dealing with Mandy working with her old boyfriend, which is sure to cause further tension in their relationship this season.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will now add drama with his mother on top of that, as Georgie feels a certain way about Mary dating after George Sr.'s death. Steve Holland continued explaining his mindset on it all, and why it's such a big deal:

Georgie is free to think what he wants, but he had better be respectful of his mother's wishes. After all, she used her house as collateral so he could get the money to buy his share of the tire shop. I don't think Mary would be so vindictive that she'd remind him of that if he got too mouthy about what she does in her personal life, but he would do well to remember he's not the boss of her.

Aside from how this impacts the characters, I am excited to hear there is a little more relationship drama coming out of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 2. I hope we see some of Mary's dating exploits, and we also get to see more of Mandy's brother Connor navigate his own relationship, which we saw develop in Season 1.

Of course, I remain invested in the storyline of when Georgie and Mandy will actually split up, and if that's going to happen by the end of Season 2. Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage actors claim they don't know when it's happening, which still shocks me. If I were working on the set of that show, I'd be asking each episode, but it seems like the cast wants to be surprised as to when it might actually happen. If that's the case, hopefully, cameras are rolling behind the scenes when they find out.

With the second season of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage hitting the 2025 TV schedule next month, the Big Bang Theory Universe is staying pretty strong on its flagship network. Georgia & Mandy is expected to feature more appearances from Young Sheldon favorites in future episodes, including Raegan Revord, who was just nine years old when they began portraying Sheldon’s twin sister Missy in the dramedy prequel. Now, Revord is looking back at those early days and reflecting on not fully grasping the importance of it all at the time.

Although Revord had minor appearances in a few shows and short films prior to landing Young Sheldon, the CBS hit ended up being their first major role on any medium. They have since taken on lots of other projects and roles on both the big and small screens, as well as writing the book Rules for Fake Girlfriends, which is out now.

Amidst such a blossoming career, Revord was shown their first Entertainment Tonight interview from back in 2017, land was asked what advice they might give their younger self if such a thing were possible. It might be some of the best advice I've heard, and I'm well beyond nine years old. In Revord's words:

Being a child actor is not easy in the slightest. Not only do you not really get to be a kid, but there’s so much that you don’t know because you’re working in this crazy industry that’s filled with adults. Additionally, you don’t get the time to really just take a breather, so it’s not surprising that Revord feels like that’s the most important thing. They’ve probably learned a lot over the last nearly 10 years since landing Young Sheldon, and I can only imagine the kind of advice they have for their younger self and other young actors.

Meanwhile, Young Sheldon and the Big Bang Universe still remain close to Revord’s heart even after the prequel ended. They’ve appeared in multiple episodes of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s first season and will return for the second season. How many episodes they’re set to appear in is unknown, but it will be fun to see Missy Cooper return, especially after she nearly went to Mexico to get married.

Even though Raegan Revord won’t be able to turn back the clock, they can definitely take what they know now and put it to good use for the future. A lot of other young actors could likely also use that kind of advice while navigating the world of child acting. At the very least, it sounds like Revord was still able to treasure their time on Young Sheldon, even if it only really set in for the last few seasons.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is returning to the 2025 TV Schedule to kick off Season 2, and there are a lot of things that could happen. Viewers are interested in knowing if this will be the season the couple finally splits after all the clues that it would happen in Season 1, and perhaps more importantly, if Iain Armitage will reprise his role as Sheldon Cooper. Star Raegan Revord isn't confident it'll happen, but I tend to disagree.

Revord sat down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about the release of her new book, Rules For Fake Girlfriends, and also talked about Missy's upcoming story on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. When the subject of whether we'd potentially see Armitage back as her annoying genius brother in the new season, Revord had this to say:

Raegan Revord is busy writing books and doing other things outside of her guest appearances on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, so I'll give her a pass on the statement. While it is true that The Big Bang Theory established that Georgie and Sheldon were estranged as adults, I don't think it was ever said they didn't talk at all, period. In fact, Georgie directly mentioned talking to Sheldon in Season 1.

While Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage could use loopholes to justify Sheldon Cooper's return to Medford, I'm not really sure that it's necessary. It's hard to imagine he'd stay away from his mother and meemaw the whole time he's away at college, and feels equally unlikely either would find time to visit him after needing to deal with Missy's rebellious phase. That said, if Raegan Revord knew Iain Armitage was going to return in Season 2 of the series, would she be allowed to reveal that?

My instincts tell me that she wouldn't, and at the very least, we won't get a tease that Sheldon Cooper is returning for Season 2 of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage until a trailer drops promoting the season. If I had to guess when it would happen, I would think it'll be an episode planned for one of the fall holidays, likely Thanksgiving or Christmas break.

The series skipped out on doing a Christmas episode in Season 1, so I think there's a good chance we'll see one in Season 2 with Iain Armitage finally coming back to play his character. I mean, the show already brought back George Sr. despite his death at the end of Young Sheldon, so I find it hard to believe Armitage will never be on the show.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage returns to CBS for Season 2 on Thursday, October 16th. I'm psyched to see the couple return for more adventures, especially now that he's in control of the garage, and eager to see what issues arise from Georgie's big bet on himself.

The Big Bang Theory's legacy is alive and well thanks to prequels Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Of course, while doing rewatches of The Big Bang Theory with an HBO Max subscription, you may remember that Missy, Georgie, Meemaw, and Mary were all introduced in the CBS sitcom, obviously played by different actors from the prequels. But casting still did a mostly good job when it came to casting Sheldon’s family, and the actress who played Missy on The Big Bang Theory is weighing in on whether she looks like Young Sheldon’s Missy.

Courtney Henggeler was first introduced as Sheldon’s twin sister, Missy, in the first season of The Big Bang Theory in 2008. Nine years later, Raegan Revord stepped into the role of Missy for Young Sheldon, and proved that Missy deserves her own spinoff, but that doesn’t mean that Henggeler doesn’t get asked about the prequel series.

While appearing on The Official BBT Podcast, the Cobra Kai star told host Jessica Radloff that her kids’ friend mistook her for Missy from Young Sheldon, and she had to say that she was the older Missy. Radloff didn’t think the mistaken identity was too surprising, pointing out that she and Revord have some family resemblance, and Henggeler couldn’t help but agree:

When you really look at Henggeler and Revord side by side, you can definitely see a bit of resemblance. Plus, the fact that Henggeler gets mistaken for Revord even despite the age differences means that they really could be sisters. The only thing that would really complete this is if they played mother and daughter or sisters on a project.

Perhaps the best casting for Young Sheldon was Sheldon’s mom, Mary. Just like Missy, she was introduced on TBBT first, in 2007, and recurred on the show through 2018. Roseanne star Laurie Metcalf played the role on Big Bang, and when it came time to cast Mary on Young Sheldon, casting didn’t have to look far for an actress with some resemblance, as Metcalf’s own daughter, Zoe Perry, landed the role. And it couldn’t have been a better choice.

Although Henggeler has retired from acting, a new spinoff is coming to HBO Max set after the events of The Big Bang Theory. Perhaps Sheldon’s twin will make an appearance even if she's not played by Henggeler. If anything, it seems like she will always hold Missy close to her heart, even the version that she didn’t play.

If you don’t really pay attention to the people who work behind the scenes on your favorite television shows, then it’s unlikely that you know the names of many of the creators, producers and writers who craft beloved entries on the 2025 TV schedule. But, even then, it’s incredibly likely that you still recognize the name of Chuck Lorre. The man is behind mega comedy hits like Dharma & Greg, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Young Sheldon and a series returning for the 2025-2026 CBS lineup, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. He just revealed that he only had a short pitch for his first TBBT spinoff, and got only a four-word answer.

What Did Chuck Lorre Say About Pitching Young Sheldon To CBS?

Sitcom producer/writer/creator extraordinaire, Chuck Lorre, has spent much of his life now trying to make sure that people laugh, and he’s not slowing down anytime soon. While he’s currently working on yet another spinoff from The Big Bang Theory (Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, which will rely on CGI) and a new comedy that you’ll be able to watch with your Netflix subscription soon, Leanne, he recently spoke at the Banff World Media Festival (via The Hollywood Reporter) and reflected on the pretty easy pitch he made that led to the seven-season run of Young Sheldon. As he told the crowd:

You may be unaware, but Les Moonves is the former CEO of CBS, the network that’s called many of Lorre’s successful sitcoms (like Mike & Molly, Mom, Bob Hearts Abishola, and his current TBBT universe) home. The process of pitching a new idea to a network executive has always seemed to be one filled with a high potential for anxiety or outright dread, but it’s clear that Lorre had none of that on the day he headed into this bigwig’s office.

Of course, by the time he pitched this spinoff prequel (which directly led to its own, previously mentioned, spinoff, Georgie & Mandy) the uber-producer was already very well-practiced in selling shows and talking to network execs. He also, as we know, had several hit shows under his belt for CBS and other channels by that time. Speaking of his prior success and how it likely played into Moonves’ quick response, Lorre added:

There are good notes and then there are notes that make a really bright lightbulb go off in one’s brain, and I’d say that “you get a greenlight because they think they can make a profit” is one of the latter.

While the creator also said that he only pitches spinoff ideas if he believes it will “make a good show” and “provide laughter,” it’s obvious that he also knows what ideas sound like MONEY to higher ups. Hopefully, the Stuart spinoff (which you can watch with an HBO Max subscription, if it’s eventually ordered to series) will continue his strong winning streak.

Valerie Mahaffey made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with an expansive TV and film career going back to the late '70s, and her most recent credit was in 2025. Sadly, the actress known for shows like Northern Exposure, Young Sheldon, and Desperate Housewives has now passed away at the age of 71.

The actress, who won a Primetime Emmy in 1992 as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work in the classic '90s show Northern Exposure, died on May 30 in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer. The news was announced via her publicist, Jillian Roscoe (via THR). She is survived by her husband, Joseph Kell, and her daughter. In a statement to the outlet, Kell said:

Not many actors can claim to have a career as prolific – or, as her husband said, "endearing" – as Valerie Mahaffey. While her first credit is for the TV movie Tell Me My Name, her second credit ever was a regular gig as Ashley Bennett on the NBC soap opera The Doctors starting in 1979, for which she earned her first major award nomination in the form of a Daytime Emmy nom for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama. (Her win in the primetime awards would come years later.)

She would go on to appear as a guest star in shows that have become classics in their own right, including Quantum Leap, Cheers, and Seinfeld before her regular role in NBC's short-lived sitcom The Powers That Be. Possibly her most memorable role of the era was also the one that won her that Primetime Emmy: Eve in five episodes of Northern Exposure over three seasons. Like Diane Delano, who died just last year, she made a big impression on Northern Exposure without a regular role on the CBS dramedy.

Some of her most notable characters debuted in the 21st century, including in nine episodes of ABC's Desperate Housewives across two seasons between 2006-2012. On Fox's Glee, she played Rose Pillsbury – a.k.a. the mother of Emma Pillsbury, played by future Disenchanted actress Jayma Mays. Joining the Big Sky cast in 2020 brought her to ABC, followed by recurring on Netflix's Dead to Me.

Valerie Mahaffey's final TV credit was for a few episodes of Echo 3, available now with an Apple TV+ subscription. Her final credit overall was The 8th Day, a film that released in 2025.

The actress had a career to be quite proud of, and surely a legacy that will continue. After all, she was part of TV shows that remain fan-favorites even years after wrapping. Our thoughts here at CinemaBlend are with the family, friends, and loved ones of Valerie Mahaffey in this difficult time.

It's an exciting time if you're a fan of The Big Bang Theory. Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage secured a Season 2 renewal on CBS, and the sequel spinoff, Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, is on its way to streaming for those with a Max subscription. Amidst all this success, there's bound to be a long future for TBBT, but unfortunately, it looks like more adventures with the adult Missy Cooper are off the table after the actress announced she's quitting.

Actress Courtney Henggeler announced via her Substack that she's retiring from acting, and while some may point to her latest role in Cobra Kai as a go-to career highlight, I'll forever remember her as Sheldon's twin sister on The Big Bang Theory. Losing her from this unvierse the show bums me out, especially as someone who has long thought Missy deserves her own spinoff.

Why Courtney Henggeler's Retirement Is A Big Loss For The Big Bang Theory

While she only appeared in three episodes in the entire series, Courtney Henggeler's appearance as Missy Cooper ultimately laid the framework for the character's personality in Young Sheldon. While she was never a highlight on The Big Bang Theory, the legwork in establishing the character in the prequels, including Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, has fleshed out Missy.

It gave me hope we'd see Henggeler return as the character down the line for a Missy spinoff, which doesn't seem possible now that she's taken her final bow in acting.

I Still Hope We'll Get A Missy Cooper Spinoff Someday

While Courtney Henggeler's retirement nixes the chances at spinoff with the adult Missy set around the same time as The Big Bang Theory, I do hope there are still chances of this happening eventually. After all, we're still getting scenes with Raegan Revord in the role, so she's still available to take over the mantle as "Adult Missy" at some point further down the line.

While Missy Cooper is still a rebellious teenager in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Revord is seventeen. With two spinoffs already occupying the television space, she could be in adulthood by the time one of them wraps up, meaning we could finally get a Missy-centric spinoff with Revord as the star.

That's assuming, of course, that there's interest in The Big Bang Theory years down the road. So far, it's been a successful road with the flagship show pulling in unprecedented viewership numbers for modern television, and Young Sheldon going out on its own terms despite having strong ratings.

While Revord has secured a recurring role on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, she's also keeping busy elsewhere in Hollywood. She was just cast in Night Court to co-star alongside The Big Bang Theory's Melissa Rauch, which should be a fun watch while I continue to have hopes for this Missy spinoff happening one day, presumably on Max with the rest of the franchise.

April Fool’s Day may be one of the most entertaining yet low-key stressful days of the year, with all the practical jokes and pranks that sometimes ride the line between wild and too good to be true. It’s even better when brands get in on the jokes. This year, NCIS jumped on the bandwagon, as the long-running procedural that is in its 22^nd season on the 2025 TV schedule joked about a new spinoff. And some of the stars approved of this idea...and so did the beloved CBS show Young Sheldon.

The official NCIS franchise Instagram account combined the drama with the Big Bang Theory prequel by sharing a poster for Young NCIS, complete with adorable kids who kind of resemble the current NCIS cast. Honestly, even though it’s a joke, I would definitely watch this:

Many fans in the comments loved the concept and couldn’t help but point out that they, too, would watch it. Some of the NCIS stars also shared their feelings about it, with Katrina Law, Brian Dietzen, and Diona Reasonover giving their stamps of approval:

Young NCIS would certainly be an entertaining show, and I love the idea of seeing either the kid versions of characters we love or said adult characters interacting with kids.

Now, the NCIS cast and I aren't the only ones who want to see this. Young Sheldon wants to see it happen, too, as its official IG account had the following back-and-forth with NCISVerse:

Well, I think we'll all have to keep dreaming about this one.

However, it is nice to see a dramatic and intense series like NCIS be so light-hearted. The show can be pretty hilarious at times, and it's equally fun to see its social media shenigans that rope in other beloved CBS properties.

That being said, to celebrate the April Fool’s holiday as well, NCIS shared a BTS video of Sean Murray, Katrina Law, and Wilmer Valderrama talking about pranks, and Law might want to watch her back:

Considering NCIS recently delivered a big reveal about Parker’s mother (you can watch that episode with a Paramount+ subscription), it’s nice seeing the cast having fun. However, I can’t help but notice the scars on Murray and Valderrama’s faces, meaning that these final episodes of Season 22 will be intense.

At the very least, they seem to be having fun behind the scenes. But all this talk about jokes and pranks makes me want just a full episode where the team is playing pranks on each other, like the early NCIS days.

Since another season of NCIS is on the way, you never know what could happen. Who knows? Maybe some version of Young NCIS could happen? That would be pretty entertaining, especially since the NCIS franchise is always expanding. Anything’s possible, and we know the trolling and joking will certainly continue regardless of what happens on screen.

Of all the television characters who will be saying goodbye in 2025 when their shows conclude, only one group was also around and caught in the same middle-class trappings during the 1980s and ‘90s. Of course I mean the Conner family. When The Conners Season 7 hits the 2025 TV schedule, fans will only have six episodes to soak up, but at least we now know a very special guest star will be involved: Zoe Perry of Young Sheldon fame.

Perry portrayed Mary Cooper, the mom of Iain Armitage’s Sheldon Cooper (whom she’s since reunited with), which was a role that her real-life mom Laurie Metcalf played in The Big Bang Theory. Now, the mother and daughter will get to share the screen on another all-time great sitcom, as the Georgie & Mandy recurrer has been confirmed to appear in two of the final episodes, per TVLine.

Thankfully, this isn’t a case where Zoe Perry was brought in to film with every actor except Laurie Metcalf, and fans will indeed get to see their stories converge. The younger actress will be taking on the role of a police officer in Lanford that apparently hears Jackie out about potentially trying to rejoin the force.

Rather than welcoming the restaurant employee with. open arms, Perry's cop apparently ribs Jackie about it due to her age. I can imagine it being strangely liberating to call one's mother old on television, even if cloaked in fictional details.

It's not entirely clear when fans can first expect to see Zoe Perry rocking a badge, but here's hoping it's sooner rather than later. Be sure to tune in when The Conners Season 7 premieres on Wednesday, March 26, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has been keeping the Big Bang Theory universe alive on the 2025 TV schedule, and it is not just because it’s the spinoff of a prequel. The series has been bringing on Young Sheldon actors for fun cameos and other references, such as Sheldon mentions. However, that’s not where the connections end, because I learned that the spinoff shares a big link with Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory after watching the latest episode.

Season 1, Episode 12 of Georgie & Mandy brought back Lance Barber’s George Sr., despite his long-anticipated death happening ahead of the Young Sheldon series finale last year. However, he returned in a dream Georgie had, so it wasn’t completely out of left field. That being said, Barber and Montana Jordan, who plays Georgie, are the only actors to appear in all three Big Bang shows as the same characters, creating a wonderful connection between the trio of sitcoms.

Co-creator Steve Holland was pleasantly surprised about the fact when it was mentioned during an interview with TVLine, too, saying:

Considering Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy are both prequels to The Big Bang Theory, portraying the same character on the Mothership series is pretty rare. But there were a couple of instances later in the series where Sheldon watched old tapes, hence why Barber and Jordan were able to play their characters in all three shows. Now, if Iain Armitage ever winds up appearing on Georgie & Mandy, he, too, will be in the elite club.

Of course, the rest of Sheldon’s family also appeared on The Big Bang Theory, but considering a lot of time had passed, they were all played by different people. Perhaps the closest connection aside from Barber and Jordan would be Zoe Perry, who plays Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy. Her mother, Laurie Metcalf, played Mary on The Big Bang Theory, so there are still some family ties there.

Meanwhile, there is another Big Bang Theory spinoff being planned for those with a Max subscription. However, it might be a little bit harder for Montana Jordan and Lance Barber to reprise their roles on that one since it will reportedly feature characters like Bert Kibbler, Denise and Stuart Bloom from the flagship show. Although, we should never count anything out...

Since Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was one of nine CBS shows to get renewed last week, there are likely many more cameos to come, and possibly from Armitage. So, there is much more to look forward to with the sitcom.

As for Barber, it’s unknown if he’ll return for another appearance on Georgie & Mandy, but now it’s clear that it’s certainly possible (as long as it makes sense for the story, that is).

New episodes of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, and you can stream them the next day with a Paramount+ subscription.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is still airing Season 1 as part of the 2025 TV schedule, and continuing the success of The Big Bang Theory franchise on CBS. Of course, Young Sheldon did most of the heavy lifting in setting up the newest Cooper family, and EP Steven Molaro said the lack of Georgie's previously revealed history has made crafting the series less stressful for the writers.

As viewers continue to tally all the reasons Georgie and Mandy will eventually split while catching up on episodes with a Paramount+ subscription, Molaro and more were present for a press day and talked to The Wrap about the various aspects of making the series. Specifically, he talked about all the canon moments they had to set up for Young Sheldon and the freedom in doing Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage:

Young Sheldon had to constantly set up moments Sheldon mentioned in The Big Bang Theory, and while it did so masterfully, Steven Molaro said it wasn't easy. It also had to set up one of the biggest moments of the Cooper family's lives, the unexpected death of George Cooper.

While Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will bring back George Sr. via a dream sequence, doing things like that or bringing back Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper is largely optional. The series is largely free to do what it wants, provided Georgie ultimately splits up and gets remarried, as his older self (played by Jerry O'Connell) said in The Big Bang Theory.

This isn't the first time an EP for the Young Sheldon spinoff has talked about how much easier the sitcom is to make. Steve Holland noted that the series being less Sheldon-centric made it less science-heavy, which would require a bit more research than the usual family sitcom. Here's hoping the lack of stress leads to more quality episodes because I'm hoping this show gets as long of a run as The Big Bang Theory.

That said, a 12-season run for a sitcom in the modern television scene is nothing short of a small miracle these days. Young Sheldon only made it to Season 7 before producers decided to end it, though its title character's age had quite a bit to do with that.

Even so, as a fan, I think there's something appealing about Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage that sets it apart from other sitcoms and could give it a long life. The title setting up an eventual split between these two gives viewers something to latch onto every episode, in addition to whatever the big story is that week. I know I'm locked into it in a way I wouldn't be with other sitcoms, and I can't wait to see where the story goes.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage took an unexpected turn, as Jim McAllister roped Georgie into a lie that ultimately led Mandy to doubt the strength of their marriage. I'm sure that will be addressed further down the season before the 2025 TV schedule is done, but for now, I'm hung up on the unexpected Sheldon Cooper mention and how it changed everything I thought I knew from The Big Bang Theory.

While you only need a Netflix subscription and a want to watch Young Sheldon to learn plenty about Georgie and Sheldon's dynamic when they were younger, The Big Bang Theory gave us a glimpse of their dynamic as adults. It was tense for a time, but now I think the tension between the two brothers didn't come until later in life thanks to this recent episode.

Georgie Called Up Sheldon For Tips Ahead Of The Tire Convention

Before he knew the tire convention was a complete farce, Georgie was doing all he could to ensure he was as prepared as possible for the event. This included attempting to wow Korean tire salesmen and learning key phrases should they attend a steakhouse and talk business.

On the car ride to New Orleans, Georgie revealed to Jim that he called Sheldon and learned a few Korean phrases to be as prepared as possible. When Jim questioned how his brother knew Korean, Georgie shrugged and said he learned not to ask his brother how he knew things.

Georgie And Sheldon Weren't As Estranged As I Assumed

I was shocked to see Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage feature such a story between Georgie and Sheldon, given what we've seen in The Big Bang Theory. The original series brought in Jerry O'Connell to play the adult Georgie, who was initially cold and distant to Sheldon when they met back up. HIs reasoning, as we learned, was that Sheldon went off to college and didn't appreciate that Georgie stayed behind and took care of the family after their father's passing.

If Georgie had any resentment for his brother in this latest episode, he certainly didn't make that known to his father-in-law. In fact, he seemed to be his normal and happy self, and Sheldon was willing to help his brother out despite being very busy with his studies. Perhaps things weren't as bad between these two as The Big Bang Theory had me thinking.

It's also possible that a larger fallout between Georgie and his brother Sheldon is on the way. Iain Armitage could return one day to play his character, and maybe we'll see Georgie have a bigger showdown with his brother when that happens. If I was on the Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage writing team, I would much sooner see Georgie and Sheldon fight when both actors are in the episode rather than some event that happened off-camera. Or maybe the show won't get to all that, and the tension between them in The Big Bang Theory was overstated. We shall see!

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Season 1 feels like it's already off to a buzzing start, and it has me wondering where things will end up with the title couple by the end of the season.

Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place is continuing on the 2025 TV schedule, and after premiering in the fall, it’s already become a fan-favorite. That's partly because the show is a big Reba reunion with McEntire, Melissa Peterman, and the producing team from the ‘00s sitcom all working on it. Steve Howey also appeared on Happy’s Place, and there are likely more reunions down the line. However, Reba is not the only show Happy’s Place is connected to, as there’s a surprising Young Sheldon connection too.

Among the cast for Happy’s Place is CSI: Miami alum Rex Linn, who is also McEntire’s partner IRL. Linn plays the tavern's cook and McEntire’s character's love interest. The two are celebrating their fifth anniversary this week, as the singer noted in a sweet Instagram post, and it’s all thanks to Young Sheldon that their longtime friendship turned into something more, as she told Glamour:

Linn recurred on Young Sheldon throughout its seven-season run as Medford High School principal Tom Petersen. McEntire later joined in a recurring role beginning with the third season as June, Dale’s ex-wife and a local hairdresser. There are plenty of actors who dated co-stars in real life, and it seems like Linn and McEntire could not refuse the feelings between one another.

Plus, the timing all working out perfectly, as The Voice coach explained:

Since McEntire and Linn have been friends for a long time, it’s possible that their relationship could have started without Young Sheldon. However, in reality, we have the CBS show to partially thank for their relationship.

Even though Reba McEntire and Rex Linn’s characters never got together on Young Sheldon, the same can’t be said for their characters on Happy’s Place. Bobbie finally admitted her feelings for Linn’s Emmett, and it’s clear that there is something there between them (even though Emmett hasn’t said anything). Since Happy’s Place got a full-season pickup, it should be fun to see what happens and if their relationship will ever eventually grow into something more. But if life imitates art, I assume they will eventually get together, and I can't wait to see it.

Young Sheldon may be over, but fans with a Max subscription can always rewatch the sitcom and the beginnings of a true love story. Meanwhile, new episodes of Happy’s Place return on Friday, January 31 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, and they are available to stream the next day with a Peacock subscription.

Overall, McEntire and Linn’s relationship is just proof that you can find love at any age, and hopefully, Emmett and Bobbie will soon have that same blissfully in-love relationship as well in the near future.

2024 TV started off pretty shaky as the industry returned to normalcy following strike-related delays, but it wasn’t long before everything felt normal again. And “normal” tends to mean “lots of big character deaths” to go alongside all of the cancellations and series endings. Thankfully, we had a full year to get through all the genuine emotions that were sparked by so many scripted tragedies.

So let’s take a look at what I thought matched the combination of being the most heartbreaking and unexpected TV deaths of 2024, while accepting the dread of knowing that the cycle of televised trauma will start up anew when the 2025 premiere schedule gets underway. So join me in pouring one out for all of our fallen TV brethren, as well as for the many talented artists who were also lost along the way.

It should probably go without saying, but SPOILERS BELOW for a variety of different series that aired across 2024. So tread lightly if there are some major shows that you haven’t gotten around to just yet.

Victor Aguilar (The Penguin)

For a TV show focusing on someone that every single viewer knew was a major villain going in, The Penguin somehow bewitched me into thinking Rhenzy Feliz's Victor would continue thriving with confidence under Oz's wing for years to come. Instead, Victor's fate was sealed the moment Oz laid eyes on him, no matter how charming or empathetic he proved himself to be. At least he didn't have to be around to watch Colin Farrell's criminal go hard on his Oedipal urges.

Isabelle Carriere (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon)

An extension of one of TV’s deadliest franchises. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon gave longtime fans a stellar reunion in Season 2 between Norman Reedus’ titular survivor and Melissa McBride’s Carol. But along the way, the show killed off its best character in Clémence Poésy’s Isabelle, and in the episode right after her and Daryl’s big kiss. It was an angering shock, and Season 3 will need to deliver something amazing to truly make up for it.

Asher Wolke (The Good Doctor)

Noah Galvin’s Dr. Asher Wolke arrived at St. Bonaventure in The Good Doctor’s fourth season and worked his way up to becoming a resident under Shaun’s wing by the ABC drama’s final season. Tragically, after Asher stopped a pair of men from vandalizing a synagogue — during which he openly declared himself gay and Jewish — the young doc was murdered on the street when one of the antisemitic vandals clubbed him in the head with an iron bar.

Colby Mayfield (Yellowstone)

Yes, Yellowstone featured multiple jaw-dropping deaths in the long-delayed final six episodes of its fifth season, from killing off John Dutton sans Kevin Costner to having Beth finally take out Jamie. But it was the lowest-profile death that actually hurt the worst, with the western drama taking out one of the bunkhouse’s best by having a wild horse lethally clomp Denim Richards’ ranchhand Colby. Hopefully Teeter can find a way to get over that heartbreak down in Texas.

Gambit (X-Men ‘97)

One of TV’s most celebrated revivals, X-Men ‘97 took little time in taking viewers right back to the animated fan-fave’s roots, but with a modern storytelling touch that heightened the character dynamics and upped the ante for danger. Case in point: the fifth episode rocked many viewers’ cores when the charismatic, crop top-wearing Gambit impulsively chose to sacrifice himself to take out the newly upgraded Master Mold. Sure, Rogue was sad, but I dare say everyone at home was even more taken aback.

Rhaenys (House Of The Dragon)

Okay, so those who are more intimately familiar with George R.R. Martin’s source material were no doubt awaiting the death of Eve Best’s Rhaeynys Targaryen, but not even such foreknowledge made her demise at Rook’s Rest easier to witness or live with after the fact. The Queen Who Never Was became the first to die in the Dance of the Dragons — at least the first human — crashing into the rocky walls in a fiery explosion.

Doug Williams (Days Of Our Lives)

Something of a unique (but equally heartbreaking) outlier of a 2024 TV death, Days of Our Lives honored veteran character Doug Williams with a final episode in July 2024, roughly six months after soap actor Bill Hayes passed away at 98. (He starred off and on from 1970-2024.) Making the episode all the more emotional is the fact that the actor’s real-life wife Susan Seaforth Hayes portrayed Doug’s wife Julie, and so his final episode featured the widowed actress once again mourning her hubby’s death by paying fictional respects.

Hughie Campbell Sr. (The Boys)

The Boys’ comic Hughie owes his whole look to Simon Pegg, and while the actor’s live-action impact on the Prime Video series has been limited, Eric Kripke & Co. thankfully(?) gave his Hughie Sr. a Season 4 death that was truly gut-wrenching both literally and metaphorically. Post-coma and with V in his veins, the seemingly healthful chap was suddenly unable to maintain his place in time or space, and unmenacingly blazed a gory train of panicked mayhem through a hospital before the eyes of his son and rekindled love.

The Hargreeves Siblings (The Umbrella Academy)

If The Umbrella Academy can be described with any one word, “unpredictable” would likely work best, as no one could have foreseen the comic adaptation’s mega-mutant culmination of “The Jennifer Incident.” Or the threat of existence’s destruction due to Ben’s marigold mixing with Jennifer’s durango. Or that the entire group of characters at the end of Season 4 would have to sacrifice themselves to save seemingly everyone else who met doomed fates throughout the series. I guess that’s just the (Gerard) way it goes when Five’s the one in charge of anything.

Emma Morley (One Day)

Sure, any shock surrounding One Day’s tragic 13th episode comes with the caveat of “never having read David Nicholls’ novel or the Nicholls-scripted 2011 movie.” But for those whom that applies, it applies so fucking hard. The highs of watching Ambika Mod’s Emma and Leo Woodall’s Dexter finally dovetailing into a relationship soon cascaded into all-too-real middle ground and then abject tragedy when Emma is knocked off of her bicycle and dies. Even for those already aware of Emma’s fate, I can imagine twelve episodes of build-up helped keep it soul-crushing, if not surprising.

Mrs. Hart / Sharon (Agatha All Along)

Despite killing its titular witch off in the second-to-last installment, Agatha All Along’s most shocking death, if perhaps not the most emotional, belonged to Debra Jo Rupp’s mind-warped Sharon — Mrs. Hart during WandaVision’s hex — who rather unceremoniously drowned in the second episode right as the coven figured out how to get past the first trial of the Witches Road. (And after she suffered a traumatic flashback hallucination.) Despite an abundance of theories proposing how she could return, and despite Agatha herself returning in a ghostly form, Sharon apparently had no such luck.

George Cooper (Young Sheldon)

Technically, George Cooper’s death was set in stone on The Big Bang Theory before Young Sheldon even existed, but only through the prequel series were viewers able to emotionally invest in the character’s life and legacy. So that by the time Lance Barber’s patriarch actually did bite the metaphorical bullet, which went down in the series’ penultimate episode, it truly did warrant a full in-episode funeral to provide him a worthwhile farewell.

Chloe Yasuda (Grey’s Anatomy)

Grey’s Anatomy should have multiple eponymous awards for heartbreaking and shocking deaths, with Mike’s sister Chloe arguably the show’s most jarring in the past year. Julia Rose’s character appeared in just three episodes, but after the emotional triple scoop of cancer, surgery, and recovery, it seemed like she was off to enjoy recurring character status. But no, it was more suffering for one and all after Mika fell asleep at the wheel and caused a crash that eventually led to Chloe succumbing to her injuries in ICU, and the reverberations were intense, y’all.

Clark And Lois (Superman & Lois)

By being The CW’s final post-Arrowverse DC drama, Superman & Lois was arguably already aimed at some kind of forever-ending as opposed to a happily ever after. Yet it was still both an emotional and surprising journey into the near and distant future with Clark and Lois after taking Lex Luthor down. Happy weddings and pregnancies gave way to Lois’ cancer returning and her death, then Clark’s own death due to heart failure. But wait! A happily-ever-after conclusion is indeed reached when Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch’s characters reconnect once more in the afterlife. I’m wiping smudges off my glasses, not tears.

Grace Garvey (Bad Sisters)

Perhaps Bad Sisters was giving Anne-Marie Duff’s Grace some legitimate in-universe grace with her left-field Season 2 death, given all of the skeletons that escaped her closet across Season 1. But given the darkly comedic tone of creator and co-star Sharon Horgan’s series during that stretch, the idea of forever breaking up the five-sister bond seemed wildly unlikely, if not impossible. And yet that car crash and funeral went down in the first three episodes. Hug your siblings if you got ‘em.

Larry Dalrymple (The Simpsons)

The Simpsons has been on the air long enough for some to think it’s no longer capable of producing fresh ideas, but the show’s creative team took a wild swing early in Season 35 by killing off a longtime background character that viewers may not have even known had a name: Larry Dalrymple, the jacket-wearing barfly. Fans were both surprised and outraged by the canonical death, which sparks a bonkers funeral-jumping caper for Homer & Co.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage isn't tackling a Christmas episode this year, but don't think for a second that other big episodes aren't on the way for the CBS series. Expect to see more Young Sheldon characters show up as the series returns during the 2025 TV schedule, including one with a close connection to the Cooper family. Actor Doc Farrow is coming back to The Big Bang Theory universe, and I think I know why we'll be reconnecting with Wayne Wilkins again.

Anyone drawing a blank concerning that name may know him better as Coach Wilkins, the co-worker and best friend of George Sr. The duo coached football at Medford High School and would occasionally hang out outside of the job as well. Doc Farrow teased his upcoming appearance on Instagram with a cheeky little picture to check out:

I don't need to rewatch Young Sheldon with my Netflix subscription to recognize the classic Wayne face he's making in this photo. That said, I think we'll see Wayne in a far less chipper mood when he's on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, as I think his appearance will be far more emotional in a sad way, mainly because of his ties to George Sr.

Why I Think Wayne Wilkins Is Coming To Georgie & Mandy

Doc Farrow's Wayne was one of the people who found George Sr. when he tragically passed. He was broken up about the death of his friend when we last saw him in Young Sheldon, and I have a feeling he'll still be struggling with it whenever he crosses paths with Georgie again in the sitcom.

We've had some small nods to the late patriarch, but the timeline for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage still requires other characters helping Georgie process his father's death. The show may bring in Lance Barber's George Sr. in a dream or some other way, but the writers probably don't want to introduce such a major moment so soon in Season 1.

For that reason, the show needs characters like Wayne Wilkins around in order to keep the spirit of George Sr. in the story without bringing him in as a literal ghost. I'm hoping for a big moment between Wayne and Georgie, but we'll see exactly what comes from their reunion on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

Meanwhile, the CBS sitcom still has a lot of other storylines to develop in the background. We're still keeping tabs on all the reasons that may lead to Georgie and Mandy splitting up, and there is a part of me that wonders if they'll separate before the end of Season 1. We may find out in the new year, but until then, we can only speculate.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will return to CBS with new episodes on Thursday, January 30th at 8:00 p.m. ET. The wait will be long, but if more Young Sheldon cameos like Doc Farrow's are on the horizon, it will be worth it.

While it’s unknown if there will be another prequel spinoff in the future one former actor from the original series is giving his take on the spinoffs.

Georgie & Mandy centers on Sheldon Cooper’s titular older brother, played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment’s Mandy. The spinoff’s title foreshadowsGeorgie’s many marriages, as fans already know from his brief appearance on The Big Bang Theory. Jerry O’Connell portrayed Georgie on TBBT and, with there now being a series dedicated to the character that he originated that takes place in the past, The Talk co-host shared some positive thoughts while discussing the spinoffs with Bleeding Cool. He also weighed in on whether he'd play Georgie again:

Jerry O’Connell appeared in three episodes of The Big Bang Theory closer to the end of its 12-season run. Despite a Georgie spinoff being set in the past, it's great to know that O’Connell is down to reprise his role in some form. Unlike Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy is not only a multi-camera comedy, and there’s no narrator. Still, there's the possibility that there could be some type of flashforward, giving O’Connell the chance to appear as Georgie once again.

Ahead of Young Sheldon’s finale earlier this year, it was announced that CBS was developing a new spinoff with Georgie and Mandy. It was hard to predict how it would turn out, but it's proven to be entertaining thus far. The series centers on the titular couple and their baby, Cece, living with Mandy’s parents and navigating this new life of theirs. There have already been a few other Young Sheldon cast members guest starring, but Iain Armitage has not been brought back as Sheldon just yet.

Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory franchise is still expanding. Co-creator Chuck Lorre is developing a new series set in the fictional universe, which seemingly be set in the present. Back in October, the Big Bang offshoot took a major step in the right direction. Three former actors of the CBS sitcom are under talent holding deals, and while Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman have not been confirmed to star in the show, which will be available to Max subscription holders. It's early days for that show, but who knows? Maybe Jerry O'Connell could pop up there!

For example, Iain Armitage and his TV mom Zoe Perry recently got together, and both fans and the Sheldon actor had some sweet comments about the whole ordeal.

Throughout Young Sheldon’s seven-season run, Sheldon and Mary had a pretty special mother-son relationship, and that doesn’t seem to have stopped after filming wrapped. Armitage took to Instagram to share that he and Perry visited the White House together after being invited. He said the trip was “so special,” and he had the “best excuse to see Mama Zoe again!”

It’s been a little over six months since Young Sheldon ended on the 2024 TV schedule, but it certainly feels like ages. Even though fans have seen Perry on Georgie & Mandy a couple of times, Armitage hasn’t stepped back into Sheldon’s shoes since May, and it’s making fans pretty nostalgic. Many took to the comments to share how much they’ve missed seeing them together, and I certainly feel that sentiment:

Considering fans saw Perry reunite with almost every Cooper family member during Georgie & Mandy’s Thanksgiving episode, sans Armitage, it’s pretty emotional seeing the two together again.

Additionally, the young actor gave his on-screen mom her flowers in the comments of his post for her acting in the final episodes of Young Sheldon, which included the long-awaited and powerful death of Lance Barber’s George Sr. The funeral episode especially was a tough one to watch, even if Barber was hanging around in the background. However, it also showed off the cast's skills as performers. To that point, Armitage commented the following about Perry on his own IG post:

Whether or not Iain Armitage eventually reprises Sheldon Cooper for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, it’s clear that the Cooper family still means quite a lot to him and Zoe Perry. It also seems like fans have missed them more than anything and are probably just itching for Sheldon’s return. At the very least, regardless of whether he's reprising his role, this probably won’t be the last time that Sheldon and Mary have a mother-son reunion.

Meanwhile, since Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage won’t have a Christmas episode, fans may have to wait a little bit longer for Armitage’s possible return. Sheldon is at Caltech now, so he can’t just visit home whenever he wants. The series does occasionally bring him up, which is better than nothing. However, I'd still love to see Armitage back on screen as the iconic character.

Now, if fans want to see Sheldon, Mary, and the rest of the Cooper family, they can always use a Max subscription to stream all seven seasons of Young Sheldon.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage had a great first holiday episode, but that's the only one we can expect for the rest of 2024. It's a bummer as someone who wondered if we'd see Sheldon Cooper appear after he wasn't at Thanksgiving, but after hearing why it isn't happening, I'm content with waiting on that and other potential cameos to happen somewhere on the 2025 TV schedule.

EP Steve Holland spoke to TV Insider about the CBS sitcom and what the status of the Christmas episode was. Holland confirmed Season 1 will not feature Georgie and Mandy celebrating Christmas together, and the Thanksgiving episode was part of the reason why. As he put it:

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage brought many family members to its Turkey Day affair, including Craig T. Nelson's Dale. While the Cooper family and other characters from Young Sheldon will occasionally be in the series from time to time, they're not series regulars. As such, it was likely easier to skip Christmas in the show rather than pulling a similar batch of actors right back into the mix.

Sure, the writing staff could've concocted a reason why the Cooper family wasn't fully reunited for the holidays that would've made sense and allowed the McAllisters plus Georgie to celebrate alone. Steve Holland explained why they didn't go that route, and how tackling both holidays during Season 1 might've hurt the Thanksgiving episode in retrospect, saying:

If I had to choose between watching the Coopers eat Thanksgiving dinner at George Sr.'s grave or him making a cameo as a ghost in a Christmas episode, I'd go with the former. Not that the latter was even an option, but given everything that Holland said, it sounds like doing a Christmas episode right on the back of doing a Thanksgiving episode would've felt very similar, which is why they opted out of it..

I can also imagine there will be other opportunities for the show to celebrate Christmas, as CBS gave Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage a full-season order after its first two episodes. Given the success of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, I would imagine we'll all be watching this third entry in the franchise, be it on CBS or with a Paramount+ subscription, for a long time.

While it may be going easy on the holiday episodes, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has given us plenty of reasons to speculate on why things between these two ultimately fell apart. I've mentioned struggles between the couple and Georgie's potential falling out with his father-in-law as possible factors so far, and I expect to see even more reasons by the end of Season 1.

George Sr.'s sudden death was one of Young Sheldon's most powerful scenes and a significant moment that shaped the life of the Cooper family forever. It played a part in The Big Bang Theory and continues to factor into the latest spinoff, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. I thought the answer was pretty obvious regarding the chances of Lance Barber's character returning in the CBS sitcom, but co-creator Steve Holland had a surprising take that caught me off guard.

As it turns out, watching Young Sheldon with a Netflix subscription may not be the only way to see Barber as George Sr. going forward into the 2025 TV schedule and beyond. TVLine addressed the idea of Georgie's father appearing in a dream or by some other scenario for Montana Jordan's character. While I figured the answer would be no, Holland gave a response that sounded a lot more promising than I assumed, saying:

Similar to how Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage's creative team didn't bring back Sheldon Cooper for the Thanksgiving episode for arbitrary reasons, the series doesn't want other cameos from Young Sheldon characters just for the sake of having one. That said, if any writers concoct a gamechanging idea in which George Sr. appearing to Georgie would make for a powerful or emotional moment, it seems the showrunners would be more receptive to the idea.

George Sr. appearing in a dream or as a ghost may seem a little out there, but The Big Bang Theory went there with Sheldon Cooper before. Sheldon's idol, Professor Proton, appeared in a dream after his death, and as Steve Holland illustrated above, that is an occurrence others can relate to in their everyday lives.

Whether he appears or not, George Sr.'s presence and influence is still inarguably felt early on in the latest series. Steve Holland mentioned in a previous interview that we'll often see the impact of the Cooper family patriarch's absence as Georgie tries to help his growing family, including his mother and sister. Georgie has done a solid job of helping both, but the strain certainly feels like it may be foreshadowing the eventual collapse of his marriage with Mandy.

While Lance Barber's George Sr. may be saved for an emotional moment, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage does seem to be carrying on a familiar recurring tradition from The Big Bang Theory with random celebrity cameos. Surprisingly, it's easier to squeeze Jay Leno's voice into an episode than it is the late George Sr., but hopefully, we'll get to see Lance Barber come back as his character down the road.

A show title that's both as ambiguous and specific as Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage would be worrisome without knowing what we do about the future of the characters thanks to The Big Bang Theory. Of course, those who watched the flagship series know that Georgie was married at least twice, meaning his marriage with Mandy will not last. We don't yet know why it didn't work out, but if you watch Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, you'll know this latest episode hinted at some possible reasons.

"Some New York Nonsense" was a tense episode with some funny moments sprinkled in, but it was pretty uncomfortable to the point I wondered if these two would split even before the 2025 TV schedule wraps up. Here's what stuck out and could be some possible reasons why this marriage ultimately falls apart as the series continues.

Mandy's Trouble Finding A Job

Young Sheldon had touched on this previously, but Mandy has struggled to find work in television since she had the baby. She mentioned a potential job in Dallas, which angered Georgie because he had zero interest in leaving Medford.

As a graduate of the same field Mandy studied, I can confirm that getting an on-camera news job in your hometown is incredibly rare, and people must frequently move elsewhere to find work. If Mandy does find a good job she can't pass up, will Georgie agree to move, or will she be forced to choose between him and a career?

Georgie's Anxiety From Family Drama

I'd previously championed Missy Cooper's storyline as spinoff-ready, so it's good to see her already returning in this episode to show fans what's going on in her life. As we learned in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, she's at least on her second suspension from school, but only the first he knew about. She needed her brother to pick her up from school so she could keep it secret from their mother.

Co-creator Steve Holland has already indicated Georgie will struggle with being both a good brother and family man, and I would expect his anxiety attacks from trying to manage both will play a bigger role in the series as it goes on.

Audrey Constantly Talking About The Marriage Failing

I love Will Sasso as Jim McAllister playing the classic sitcom dad, and I also love Rachel Bay Jones playing Audrey. That said, I love her more because she plays the role of the overbearing mother-in-law. As frustrating as it is to hear her constantly going on about how this marriage will fail, this series needs some measure of tension, and she plays the role perfectly by poking the bear with both her daughter and son-in-law. She's the worst, but that's the character's entire point, so you kinda have to love the follow-through.

Now, YS' own offshoot, the newly debuted Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage makes the return to the multi-camera sitcom format. On the heels of the 2024 TV schedule entry's series premiere, EP Steve Holland is sharing why the opening scene wasted no time in acknowledging its return to a live-audience format.

For those who missed it, the premiere opened up with Georgie laughing at an episode of Frasier, commenting that he likes "laughin' shows," or shows in which the audience laughs after a joke because it lets him know when to laugh. It was a perfect scene that I mentioned among my reasons for loving the series premiere. Steve Holland admitted to TV Line that the meta moment likely wasn't crucial but that, in the long run, it would be to the show's benefit:

I can completely understand addressing the elephant in the room, especially when dealing with an audience that kept up with Young Sheldon because it differed from The Big Bang Theory. It's fair to say multi-camera sitcoms are far less common than they once were, which is probably why some critics praised Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage as an enjoyable throwback.

There's certainly a stigma sometimes attached to sitcoms with live audiences, with Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage inadvertently acknowledging that via one of the titular characters. A common assumption is that the shows have a reputation for dumbing down the humor by instructing the audience on when to laugh, which is ironically why Georgie likes it so much. I assumed using Frasier was a way of bucking the idea that classic sitcoms make for a "dumb" show, but Steve Holland explained the actual reason that show was chosen:

I'm going to have to revisit Young Sheldon with my Netflix subscription, because it never occurred to me it was influenced by The Wonder Years. I already feel ahead of the game streaming Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, considering I grew up watching many sitcoms that used the multi-camera style to great effect.

It remains to be seen whether Georgie & Mandy will reach the heights of Frasier, Roseanne and the other best sitcoms of all time. What I will say is it's off to a great start and, given the success of its predecessors, it may end up being one of the more popular shows on TV.

I think the most surprising takeaway as a Young Sheldon fan is how enjoyable the show is without Sheldon in the mix. Usually, when a franchise removes the main character responsible for its existence, the quality declines. However, I'm optimistic that won't be the case here. A lot of that is credited to how the previous show established the Cooper family and made the siblings as equally entertaining and enjoyable as their genius brother. I daresay that the show is able to breathe a little more without Sheldon in the mix and is less burdened by the talk of science that has little to do with the family at large. Here's hoping it can stay as entertaining as a "laughin' show."

Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord will reprise her role as Missy Cooper when Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage joins the rest of the shows premiering on the 2024 TV schedule, but she'll be different than fans remember her. Ahead of the latest adventure for Georgie and his new family, EP and co-creator Steve Holland shared how the character will change following George Sr.'s death, which happened in Young Sheldon.

Revord revealed Missy's ending on Young Sheldon bummed her out, but there's a chance things might get better for her on Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Holland spoke to TV Insider about the character's return and how she'll be different in the new series:

As a Young Sheldon fan who believed a Missy Cooper spinoff series should have happened, I'm delighted to hear this news. Missy's anger directly conflicts with Georgie's over-optimism in the face of any issue he has, so it'll be interesting to see him deal with Missy and her rebellious side.

Missy was already in a rebellious stage during the final seasons of The Big Bang Theory prequel, and felt largely ignored by her family compared to Sheldon and Georgie. Following the sudden and tragic death of George Sr., Missy became angry and even snapped at Pastor Jeff in the final episode when he tried to console her.

In The Big Bang Theory, we know that Mary heavily leaned into religion following George's death, and we saw that impact on Missy in Young Sheldon. Her mother was spending so much time at the cemetery that she hadn't been home much, and her daughter was feeling very alone in her mourning. Perhaps that's why we'll see her in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, as she's looking for more family in this trying time. Hopefully, Georgie doesn't struggle too much dealing with his sister in addition to everything else that is on his plate.

Raegan Revord is not the only Cooper family member who will appear who was previously in Young Sheldon. It's been confirmed that Annie Potts will return as Georgie's "Meemaw" Connie in the first episode. I'm happy that's happening because Connie played a huge part in helping Mandy get on her feet in Young Sheldon. It would be a shame not to see her appear in this series.

Ultimately, I'd love to see the remaining Cooper family appear in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, but this is a good start for now. I'm sure we'll eventually see Mary pop by to see her granddaughter, and maybe even Sheldon will make an appearance on some random holiday, or something. That said, we know he wasn't too close to his brother after leaving for college, so we'll have to wait and see on that one.

During CBS' Fall 2024 Virtual Press Day, I asked the former Young Sheldon stars what their experiences have been transitioning from playing their characters on a single-cam comedy vs. a multi-cam with a live studio audience. Montana Jordan, who reprises his role as Georgie, said:

Well, it's certainly good news that he won't be messing around with girls now that he and Mandy are married with a child! Money may be an issue for the young couple, and while that might have been played for drama – or at least dramedy – on Young Sheldon, the live studio audience may guarantee that it's played more for laughs in episodes, which will be available streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.

Rachel Bay Jones went on to praise Montana Jordan becoming a "little bit of a ham" for the show, saying:

I think it's safe to say that the actors were a lot more ham on The Big Bang Theory than they were over the years of Young Sheldon, which is natural for actors performing in front of a live studio audience compared to a single-cam set. Will Sasso agreed with Bay and went on:

Rest assured that the TV universe started by The Big Bang Theory and continued by Young Sheldon (both of which are now streaming with a Max subscription) is not going full MCU with the addition of Georgie & Mandy. It's worth noting that Young Sheldon and Big Bang both were airing new episodes during the same season for a few years; that won't be the case for G&M after the Iain Armitage-led show ended in the spring. Emily Osment, who co-leads with Montana Jordan as Mandy, weighed in:

The 2024 TV schedule is about to bring viewers some good news, as a number of fall premieres are now right around the corner. One of the most anticipated new shows will hit CBS on October 17, and that’s the upcoming sitcom Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The Big Bang Theory begot Young Sheldon, and with that comedy having had its swan song earlier in the year, fans will now be treated to a continuation of the story of newlyweds/new parents to baby CeeCee, George Cooper, Jr. and Mandy McAllister. But, just why is the show putting a spotlight on their first marriage? Here’s a rundown of what we know from both previous sitcoms.

What Do We Know About Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage From Young Sheldon?

Seeing as how this is the show that most recently aired, let’s start with what we know about the very youthful couple coming out of Young Sheldon. While The Big Bang Theory (which you can revisit with a Max subscription) was set in the present day, YS took us back to the late 1980s through the mid-‘90s and the childhood of Sheldon Cooper with his family in Texas. As such, we’ll see Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage detail the lives of the newly married parents as they strike out on their own after the end of YS.

We watched Georgie grow up on Young Sheldon, but Mandy (who was 29 to Georgie’s 17 when they met, though he said he was 21 and she also lied about her age, telling him she was 25) was only part of the story for the last two seasons of the hit comedy. They met at Meemaw’s laundromat, spent some adult time together and were immediately faced with what to do about their speedy procreation. Mandy was uninterested in marriage for some time, but the young man and his consistent reliability and commitment to getting hitched finally convinced her, and they were married by the end of the series.

The duo had lived with Meemaw for a time, but her home was destroyed in a tornado, so they have now moved in with Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey, with whom she has a rather strained relationship. That takes us up to where we’ll start with Mandy and Georgie Cooper, but what did TBBT tell us about them in the present day?

What Do We Know About Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage From The Big Bang Theory?

As you can imagine, when the title was revealed, and then the official logo confirmed that the spinoff would only focus on the first marriage of this young couple, it confused a lot of fans. However, those who’d paid close attention to the latter years of The Big Bang Theory, when we finally saw an adult Georgie running his tire empire, revealed some intriguing info that clued us in on the eventual story of Georgie & Mandy.

When Sheldon spoke about his brother, he mentioned that he was “twice married and divorced.” Now, if we take that to mean that he was married twice but divorced once (as opposed to divorcing two wives) then that means that he eventually remarried after divorcing the first wife, who we already know is Mandy, and could have still been married the second time around when he showed up on TBBT.

But, Georgie’s appearances on TBBT show him without a wedding ring and there weren’t any direct mentions of Mandy, so if they were in the process of getting back together (or he was divorcing a completely different woman) he didn’t mention it to Sheldon (which makes sense, because they hadn’t spoken for 10 years at that point).

So, the question of Georgie’s marital status as of his appearances in TBBT isn’t entirely clear. We don’t know where he and Mandy stood by the time Sheldon went down to see him to ask his big bro to come to his wedding. We also don’t know if he simply wasn’t wearing a ring because he doesn’t, or if he was split from the second wife and not yet officially divorced.

And, who is the second wife? The title of the spinoff implies that Georgie and Mandy might actually be one of those rare couples to marry, divorce, and then remarry each other, and if so, that means that not only will their spinoff have lots of questions to answer, but it’ll be able to leave fans with some hope that those two crazy kids will be able to make it work after all.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is on its way to CBS as part of the Fall TV schedule, following a Young Sheldon finale that was more than a little depressing. The death of George Cooper Sr. was powerful and emotional despite fans knowing it would happen from the start of the series, and those tuning in for the new comedy might wonder how the upcoming sitcom will address that tragic event. Fortunately, executive producer Steve Holland shared some positive news about how it will be addressed.

Of course, Georgie has more on his plate than just taking care of Mandy and CeeCee. His mother and sister Missy are off on their own with George Sr. gone — the latter seemed to be entering a rebellious streak near the end — and MeeMaw is still working on rebuilding her house after it was destroyed.

Steve Holland noted that, as the oldest sibling, Georgie will also feel obligated to help his other family members however he can. As he put it:

While it sounds like Georgie will have to juggle a lot in the Young Sheldon spinoff, it's great to hear we can expect appearances from others in the Cooper family during Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. That said, we already had the heads up that Missy would be along for the ride when Raegan Revord posted a photo from the set. Even so, I'm happy to hear Annie Potts' Connie might have more appearances, especially due to her close bond with Mandy when she first became pregnant.

There's still no word whether or not Iain Armitage will reprise his role as Sheldon in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, but even writers for the show are relieved to take a break from the character. It will be a bit odd to watch a series set in The Big Bang Theory universe that will, presumably, have little to no science talk involved, but I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough.

Jim Parsons has talked about his complicated process of memorizing Sheldon’s dialogue, so I’d assume he’s also been pleased to not have to say any of it anymore, even in narration form. It’s unclear if viewers will get to see Iain Armitage’s return as Sheldon within the context of the spinoff, or if Parsons could return in some possibly way, but it sounds like the creative team will be just peachy without him around for a while.

Speaking to the difference in approach, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage does sound like it’ll stand apart from its franchise brethren, and not just for a general lack of physics factoids. By centering on the titular couple now living with Mandy’s parents Jim (Will Sasso) and Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones) and attempting to gain financial independence, the new sitcom has far different goals in mind than what came before.

Beyond the general concept of a found family of friends, The Big Bang Theory couldn’t really be considered a family comedy at all, even though characters got married and had parents and siblings show up for storylines. (For instance, fans first met Georgie during Jerry O’Connell’s guest spot in Big Bang Theory Season 11’s "The Sibling Realignment.”)

It’ll be interesting to see whether younger audiences that jumped on the bandwagon for Young Sheldon will continue to tune in when Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage arrives on CBS (and for those with Paramount+ subscriptions) on Thursday, October 17, at 8:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Season 4 premiere of Ghosts.

Young Sheldon ended after seven seasons earlier this year, but that won’t spell the end for the Cooper family. Two members of the Texas-based clan are set to headline their own spinoff – Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. CBS’ upcoming multi-camera sitcom is set to debut this fall and, with that, production on the show is officially underway. Montana Jordan and Emily Osment are set to reprise their roles as the titular characters, and they’ll also be joined by a few stars from the parent show, who will guest star. Now, one of those franchise veterans is teasing their return, and we may know just when they’ll pop up.

Which Young Sheldon Alum Just Posted About Their Appearance On Georgie & Mandy?

Earlier this summer, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage EP Steve Molaro revealed three YS stars would guest star on the spinoff. The actors in question were Zoe Perry, Annie Potts and Raegan Revord, who played Mary Cooper, Connie “Meemaw” Tucker and Missy Cooper, respectively. It now looks like Revord has now reported for duty, as she shared a sweet behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. The brief shows the young star smiling and posing by what appears to be her parking spot. Check out the post down below:

While the actress’ involvement was already known at this point, her BTS post makes the prospect of her return to the franchise feel even more real. Back in March, Raegan Revord spoke about the prospect of reprising Missy on G&M, which was only rumored at that point. Revord (respectfully) expressed a desire to move on to other career opportunities, though she expressed joy over the notion of Montana Jordan and Emily Osment landing their own show. I’m not sure what prompted her to ultimately return, but I can say that it’ll be sweet to see Missy once more.

Details on Missy’s role are, of course, being kept under wraps for now, as we don’t even know exactly when she’ll show up during the spinoff’s first season. However, common sitcom knowledge does give us a solid bit of room to make an educated guess.

When Might Missy Cooper Show Up On The Young Sheldon Spinoff?

Production on Georgie & Mandy’s First Wedding reportedly began during the week spanning July 15 and 19. For those who aren’t aware, shows that are multi-camera sitcoms typically film one episode per week. Accounting for the math there and the fact that Raegan Revord’s post arrived this week, it’s possible that Missy could return for the series’ fifth episode. That’s just an assumption, of course, based on the information we have. It’s possible that this particular guess could be off by an episode.

Nevertheless, it seems certain that little Ms. Cooper will appear early in the show’s run. What’s most intriguing about her return and those of the other OGs is that we’ll finally get to see these characters in a different show format. Young Sheldon was a single-camera comedy, which is quite different from a multi-cam set-up – a format that EP Chuck Lorre doesn’t think is dead. There’s also the live audience component, which Emily Osment spoke about, and she’s looking forward to returning to that format.

Aside from Raegan Revord, Zoe Perry and Annie Potts, Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones will reprise their roles as Jim and Audrey McAllister (in series regular capacities). While I’m excited to see how the upcoming show adds fresh elements to this fictional universe, I’m also pumped about the prospect of familiar faces popping in from time to time. There’s also the matter of whether Iain Armitage will return as Sheldon Cooper, which could be a possibility. Regardless, it’s great to see that Revord and her co-stars are getting down to business on the anticipated family-centric comedy.

The 2024 TV schedule dealt a bit of a blow to fans of the long-running hit Young Sheldon, as The Big Bang Theory spinoff/prequel said goodbye after seven successful seasons and became one of the many series canceled and ending this year. Luckily, the family comedy was able to plan its finale and lead fans of its parent show to the two previously established storyline reasons why it needed to wrap now: Sheldon heading off to Cal Tech and his dad dying. But, with actor Lance Barber’s cameo at George Sr.’s funeral, we know how it winks at some TBBT discrepancies.

How Did Lance Barber’s Young Sheldon Cameo At George Sr.’s Funeral Wink At Discrepancies With The Big Bang Theory?

Lance Barber famously portrayed the patriarch of the Cooper household, George Sr., for all seven seasons of Young Sheldon. Though adult Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory didn’t speak that well of his dad, by the end of the series we saw that his opinion of his father was because of a major misunderstanding, and that George was an all-around solid husband and father. However, when Barber made a cameo as a female mourner at George’s funeral, it did wink at some of the show’s other inconsistencies with TBBT.

One thing that die hard Big Bang fans had noted since the beginning of YS (via Screen Rant) was the fact that Barber already had a canonical role in the BB/YS universe, because he appeared on the earlier hit as Jimmy Speckerman in Season 5 as an adult version of Leonard’s high school bully. As noted, fans did quickly get used to seeing Barber as Sheldon’s supportive father, who simply didn’t always understand where his genius kid was coming from when he reacted to the world around him. 

Throughout the run of the spinoff, though, the sitcom continued to poke at potential discrepancies with the series that originally brought us several renditions of “Soft Kitty” by casting other actors who’d had noticeable parts on Big Bang, but in different (although sometimes similar) roles. For example, recognizable character actor Vernée Watson appeared on TBBT as a nurse who frequently cared for Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Howard when they ran into harmful misadventures, and she also portrayed a nurse in the prequel. Oscar winner Octavia Spencer was seen as two different government officials on each series, along with other guest cast members who worked on both shows.

Basically, while Young Sheldon kept recasting actors from Chuck Lorre’s multi-cam sitcom (which he says are not dead) hit, the series also went even deeper by having Barber, who was already responsible for two noticeable characters in the universe of the two comedies, appear as a third character as the family was saying their final goodbyes to George Sr. 

It’s almost like the writers said, “So you think Barber playing Sheldon’s dad and Leonard’s bully is a problem? We can take it further!” and created a whole new timeline and BB/YS universe where everyone we’ve already seen has yet another life. Maybe there’s a Mary Cooper out there who isn’t Sheldon’s mom, but one of his teachers. And somewhere there’s a Leonard (who may or may not be dead in the present day) who never moved in with Sheldon and never married Penny and…never had a TV show made about 12 years of his life?!?!

I just can’t imagine that, but I think all of these winks and nods to what some fans see as casting inconsistencies was a fun way to acknowledge the issue and play around with a world that’s supposed to be fun and not taken too seriously anyway, and everyone needs at least some of that in their lives.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage is heading to CBS' fall TV schedule, but based on all we know so far about the series, Iain Armitage is not returning as Sheldon Cooper beyond guesting. This tracks given what fans witnessed (or didn't) from Georgie and Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory, but there's no rule that says the two Young Sheldon stars can't meet up off-screen. That happened recently, and Armitage made the perfect TBBT reference after meeting Montana Jordan's baby. 

Montana Jordan welcomed his first child back in May, and now Iain Armitage was able to make his way over to meet his co-star's baby girl, Emma Rae Jordan. Check out the video of Armitage holding the child and reciting the wonderful song that The Big Bang Theory and/or Young Sheldon fans will likely start singing along with: 

I never knew I needed to hear Iain Armitage singing "Soft Kitty" to a small child, but I'm really glad I got to see it. That's an experience that watching repeats of Young Sheldon with a Netflix subscription won't provide, and it's so sweet. It's cool to see Armitage paying a visit to his fictional brother and having a solid relationship, considering Georgie and Sheldon never had that until long after the death of their father, George Sr.

For those more familiar with Young Sheldon and less familiar with The Big Bang Theory, the song "Soft Kitty" actually started there. Even with the audience laughter, that scene remains entirely disturbing to me. I'm glad I now have Iain Armitage singing the song to a wee baby so that I can bleach the above out of my eyeballs and mind. Even after Young Sheldon has ended, this series' cast continues to give us much to smile about. 

While I remain thrilled about watch Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage when it premieres for the titular couple, I also can't wait to see other members of the Cooper family showing up. I'm still very interested in the idea of a spinoff that revolves around Missy Cooper, as I think her and her mother's relationship after the death of George makes for the most compelling story. Until then, I remain eager and excited to see how Georgie and Mandy better navigate their lives both as a married couple and as parents, and what adventures come out of that as well. 

As we wait for the premiere of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, just a reminder that Young Sheldon is available to stream over on Netflix and Max. I ended up being a big fan of the show after initial skepticism that I'd like it, so I encourage anyone that is on the fence to give it a shot. 

Veteran producer Chuck Lorre isn't concerned with the notion that “multi-cam sitcoms are dead,” and, with that, the Big Bang Theory creator is gearing up for his latest multi-cam series. I'm talking about Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage! The series is set to premiere this fall on the 2024 TV schedule, and it's now been confirmed that lead actors Montana Jordan and Emily Osment won't be the only ones reprising their YS roles. However, there's still the question of whether or not Iain Armitage will reprise his role as Sheldon on the new show.

Georgie & Mandy executive producer Steve Molaro confirmed during a Television Critics Association panel (via TVLine) that Zoey Perry, Raegan Revord and Annie Potts will reprise their roles as Mary, Missy, and Meemaw, respectively, on the spinoff. With Armitage being the last main (living) Cooper that has yet to be confirmed to be returning, is there a chance he might pop up? Another of one the new show's EPs, Steve Holland, shared thoughts that may give fans hope:

The series finale of Young Sheldon ended with Sheldon at CalTech after he previously spent an episode trying to choose between that college and MIT. So, from a narrative standpoint, it makes sense that Iain Armitage won’t be appearing on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage -- not regularly, at least. Ahead of the show's premiere in the fall, the writers should have the chance to write in holiday episodes. And, as Steve Holland said, perhaps Sheldon can come home for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, creating an opportunity for the Coopers to all come together.

Assuming Iain Armitage does make an appearance in a holiday episode along with the other Coopers, it would be the first major event that they would be celebrating since George Sr.’s sudden death during the parent series. It would be an emotional but important installment, which could generate both laughs and tears. Also, if Sheldon were to return, it would naturally give the character an opportunity to catch everyone up on his life at CalTech.

Even if that guest appearance doesn't pan out though, it will be nice to see Mary, Missy, and Meemaw on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. According to Steve Molaro, Zoe Perry and Annie Potts will be in the first episode, while Raegan Revord will appear in the second one. It’s unknown if they will be appearing in any future installments, including any potential holiday episodes, as it's too early to tell. But, more immediately, fans can simply take comfort in the fact that some familiar faces will return alongside Montana Jordan and Emily Osment.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage premieres on Thursday, October 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. As far as other Young Sheldon characters making appearances, Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones will also be reprising their roles as Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey, and will be series regulars. While you wait to see them, keep your fingers crossed that Iain Armitage's boy genius also shows up at some point as well.

Up to and through the 1990s, multi-camera sitcoms with studio audiences were such a standard that even animated series occasionally featured canned laugh tracks. The exact opposite is the case in 2024, where current examples number in the single digits, but the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will be among them when the Big Bang Theory prequel hits the 2024 TV schedule this fall. And co-creators Chuck Lorre and Steve Holland don’t sound the least bit worried about embracing a sitcom format some consider “dead.”

Speaking at length about CBS’ upcoming comedy for the first time as part of the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour (via Deadline), Holland and Lorre addressed the fact that Georgie & Mandy will return to the live-audience format that CBS has almost single-handedly kept going over the years. Speaking to decades of multi-cam naysayers, Holland said:

Regardless of one’s personal sitcom preferences, it’s hard to deny the logic in Holland’s argument. A show’s success depends almost entirely on how well the cast and storyline can each connect with TV audiences, regardless of the specific way that show is presented. Or else traditional sitcoms would have failed entirely after shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office helped make single-cam series the norm.

Within this universe specifically, even after The Big Bang Theory became TV’s most watched comedy for years on end, there was much skepticism ahead of Young Sheldon’s premiere due to that series losing the studio audience for its more dramatized tone. But that didn’t stop millions of fans from eagerly watching the teen brainiac family life, and it’s easy to imagine a similar number of viewers will be tuning in to see how Georgie and Mandy handle life as married parents, despite its return to multi-cam.

Chuck Lorre chimed in, saying he continues to make the shows he wants without considering outside opinions. As he put it:

Who wouldn’t love a job that involves making a big crowd of people laugh and enjoy themselves via creativity? I can see why that would be hard to let go of at any point for a showrunner, even if that wasn’t specifically part of the Georgie & Mandy co-creators’ explanation. It’s definitely a bonus.

While we have yet to learn what kind of format the still-gestating Big Bang Theory follow-up will adhere to, fans can look forward to seeing Montana Jordan and Emily Osment evolving their acting chops in front of a studio audience when Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage debuts this fall on CBS Thursdays. Episodes will be available to stream with a Paramount+ subscription the next day.

Out of all the TV shows ending in 2024, one of the most popular and highly watched faves was Young Sheldon, the first Big Bang Theory spinoff to hit the small screen. (With at least one more on the way in the form of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.) The hit dramedy brought together TV vets like Lance Barber and Annie Potts while serving as the first ongoing lead role for Iain Armitage and his younger co-stars. Which is perhaps why the Sheldon Cooper portrayer had a slightly atypical reaction to filming the final episodes.

Speaking with the L.A. Times about bidding farewell to this origin story of sorts for the Big Bang brainiac, Young Sheldon’s Armitage talked about the few moments when he was genuinely struck by emotion on the set, but was also candid about not being quite as invested in that respect as other actors. That balance of the scales was perfectly represented when the teen star was asked if he was as “wistful” as his character by way of taking in the experience one last time. According to Armitage:

I love the honesty there, since it doesn’t discount any of his sincere appreciation for his years on Young Sheldon. It just speaks to a more youthful outlook where a job can be a job, and once it’s over, it’s time to look forward rather than dwell on what’s already happened, which he commented on when asked if it was the “right time” to end this arc of Sheldon’s story. To Iain Armitage, his feelings would have been comparable whether it ended with Season 7 or Season 17.

He’ll likely be answering questions about the Big Bang Theory spinoff for the rest of his acting career, though, which isn’t the kind of thing most people need to worry about regarding past jobs. Most of us also won’t even have an occupational anecdote involving going to one’s faux-father’s funeral while the faux-father was dressed up as another funeral attendee. It’s safe to say filming it was the “last time” it happened for anyone involved.

Iain Armitage shared that the final scene of the episode was not the final moment that was filmed, which is often the case. Had it been, the actor would have nailed the landing as stoically as can be. However, he shared that the final shot was with the core group, minus one, and that his tear ducts did not make it through unmoistened. In his words:

He shared that the saddest thing about George Sr.’s death, as it were, was losing Lance Barber as a co-star for the episodes that filmed without the Cooper family patriarch, and the actor’s absence in that final scene was a blow to viewers as well as those around the dinner table. Even if it took Armitage a little longer to reach his feels.

That said, Armitage sounds like he’s perfectly fine with saying goodbye to Sheldon Cooper, and is content with where things ended. The same maybe can’t be said for co-star Raegan Revord, who was saddened by Missy’s ending, or the lack thereof. Not that she’s upset on a personal level, but more that her character didn’t get any peaceful closure, which doesn’t bode well for the twin sibling between the prequel and the updates we get in Big Bang Theory. And if that’s not a reason to get Missy her own spinoff, I dunno what is.

Fans can still stream all episodes of Young Sheldon with a Paramount+ subscription while waiting to see if George & Mandy plays into fans’ spinoff theory.

Young Sheldon may be done, but the Big Bang Theory universe will live on through yet another spinoff. Premiering later this year on the 2024 TV schedule will be Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The show will see Montana Jordan and Emily Osment reprising their roles as the titular characters as they navigate their new family dynamic. While filming for Georgie & Mandy begins later this summer, Osment is getting real about filming in front of a live studio audience.

Since Georgie & Mandy will be a multi-cam sitcom like The Big Bang Theory, the series will be shooting in front of a live audience. Young Sheldon, meanwhile, was a single-cam comedy. Of course, Osment is no stranger to doing multi-cams, as some of her past credits -- like Hannah Montana, Young & Hungry and Mom -- were all shot in front of spectators. It’s been a while since performed in a production filmed before people, and she shared her excitement about going back to that format while speaking with ET:

Even though filming in front of an audience seems nerve-wracking, one would think that it can be really exciting as well. I mean, getting fan reactions in real time and seeing how they really feel about certain scenes, especially for a new series, could be helpful. It might take some time to get used to, however, since Young Sheldon was only a single-camera series. Osment is sure to shine while being back in her element, and she'll probably provide pointers to Montana Jordan, who she says has never worked within a live-audience sitcom setting.

Ahead of production starting, G&M's First Marriage got a new logo, which really put an emphasis on the “First.” Fans of The Big Bang Theory know that Sheldon’s older brother has been “twice married and divorced,” but it isn’t known how long the first marriage lasted. While the couple seems somewhat solid, the series will likely be showing some bumps in the road for them. The show's producers will likely aim to deftly balance levity with any true drama, though. What we know about Georgie & Mandy is that it will take place after the events of the Young Sheldon finale. During her recent interview, Osment addressed just how aware she is of how much time has passed between the parent show's finale and spinoff's premiere:

CBS announced in March that a Georgie and Mandy spinoff was happening and would further expand the TBBT universe. Emily Osment’s on-screen parents, Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso, will be joining her and Montana Jordan as cast members. And, at this point, it's unknown if any other Young Sheldon characters will appear. 

I'd imagine that those lucky enough to see Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage filmed will surely have an unforgettable experience. That's also sure to ring true for Emily Osment, Montana Jordan and their co-stars. A premiere date has not been announced yet for the new series, but it shouldn’t be long until we find out when the eponymous characters will make their grand return to CBS. In the meantime, you can stream episodes of Young Sheldon using a Max subscription.

Young Sheldon is over, but before fans of the family series get too down about the show being over, a spinoff is already on the way to the 2024 TV schedule. Soon enough, we'll be watching Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage on CBS and with a Paramount+ subscription. I'm grateful to see The Big Bang Theory franchise continue in a new way, but I can't help but feel disappointed that Missy isn't getting her own spinoff to shine.

While the two Cooper boys went off to have their own televised adventures, the middle child is left forgotten once again. It's wild to me because Raegan Revord's Missy deserves her own spinoff, especially after the way Young Sheldon ended. In fact, I think she may have the most compelling storyline following the tragic death of George Sr., and there are plenty of other reasons to justify this spinoff happening on top of that.

Missy's Story Post-Young Sheldon Is Arguably The Most Interesting Of Them All

Sheldon's time at Caltech ultimately leads him to a Nobel prize, and there are various reveals in The Big Bang Theory about Georgie's future. We do learn about Missy in a few episodes, but not much beyond the episode where she visits Sheldon and that she was no help after George Sr.'s death, according to Georgie, because she was a "dumb teenager." To me, that's the most compelling part about Missy's story and why we need to see it.

One of the most underrated moments of the Young Sheldon finale was when Sheldon and Missy agreed to be baptized, but the latter backed out after being offended by Pastor Jeff. She was angry about her father dying and the world continuing as normal, but she didn't have her studies or marriage to throw herself into afterwards. She was in rough shape mentally at the end of the series, but there just wasn't enough time to properly unravel her story in the finale.

Actress Raegan Revord noted that Missy's ending was a bummer, and I agree because of how we get no resolution to it all. A spinoff in which we were able to see how Missy was able to cope with, struggle,and ultimately heal from losing her father her final year of middle school is just as compelling to me as anything else we could cover in The Big Bang Theory universe, even if other spinoffs are justified.

A Missy Spinoff Would Allow Many Characters From Young Sheldon To Return

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage is a solid premise for a spinoff, but as we're quickly learning, it's largely focused on Georgie's new family. As of this writing, it's still up in the air just how many in the Cooper family will appear in the new series. Sure, new adventures are fun, and I'd love to see more of Mandy's dad in the spinoff. However, if this spinoff doesn't feature regular appearances from Meemaw, Dale, Mary, and Missy, it's going to feel bittersweet.

If CBS were to greenlight a Missy-centric spinoff that picks up after Young Sheldon, then there are some characters that have to be put in the mix. At the very least, we know that Mary would need to be involved as the parent of a minor, and their dynamic would be very interesting given it's just the two of them with George gone and the other two boys out of the house. Missy and Mary struggled to connect toward the end of the series, with the latter leaning heavily on her religion and spending less time focusing on her children.

We know from Mary's appearances in The Big Bang Theory that she seemed to lean harder into her religion as the years went on, and while she seemed to be on relatively good terms with Missy, it would be interesting to see how they arrived at that point. The context behind what Missy was doing during those immediate years after George's death would be great, and it would be nice to see how Mary, Meemaw and anyone else from the original series would respond to it.

Raegan Revord Isn't Currently A Part Of The Georgie And Mandy Spinoff

As I alluded to at the beginning of this, it's unclear how many actors from the Young Sheldon family will appear in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. One thing we do know for certain, though, is that Raegan Revord wasn't invited to return as Missy in the series, at least when she was first asked about it. It seems the show would sooner focus on the new family and introduce some new characters, which makes sense from the common perspective of being a CBS series that wants to draw in people who might've not watched Young Sheldon.

That said, Young Sheldon was pulling in enough viewers to the point it was a surprise to stars when the announcement was made to end the series. I would wonder if the fact that the series may not feature a lot of actors from the previous series may turn some viewers off on the series, as they were hoping to see more of the characters they were familiar with, and not just Georgie and Mandy. I'll concede I have never made not one, but two shows that ranked among the most-watched on modern television, so there could be people who have a better idea of what audiences want working on the show than me.

All I know is that I loved what the Cooper family had when they were together, and with Sheldon going off to college, I would've liked to see more of Mary, Missy and Mary in his absence, especially after George Sr. died. A spinoff for Missy would allow for viewers to see the entire family carry on and allows for the occasional crossover to happen between the two parties. CBS seems to enjoy doing crossovers with the NCIS and FBI shows, so why not do the same with multiple Young Sheldon spinoffs?

Be on the lookout for Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage on CBS later this fall, and stream Young Sheldon right now with a Netflix subscription or over on Max. For now, that's the only place to see Raegan Revord's Missy, but hopefully, someone will change that soon enough.

Typically, show titles aren't all that remarkable or telling beyond how eye-catching it may look when looking for something to stream with a Netflix subscription. I do get the sense that there is something worth noting though about the "first" in this logo, assuming it is the official one CBS will go with for the series, and it points to the big theory about Georgie and Mandy's marriage and where it ends up.

The Alleged Show Logo Hints At Popular Theory For Series

Those wondering if Georgie and Mandy will break up are late to the game, and aren't excellent with context. We've known since The Big Bang Theory introduced Sheldon's brother that he was "twice married and divorced." Seeing as Mandy is his first wife, and we know he was divorced, it doesn't take much to assume this marriage will ultimately dissolve at some point. That said, Young Sheldon quasi-retconned George Sr. cheating on Mary, so is it possible this marriage will go the distance, even with a hiccup along the way?

Anything is possible, but based on the emphasis on "first" in the alleged logo, I'm more inclined to think the marriage won't last, and the popular theory that Georgie and Mandy will get remarried at some point is on the table. The question, of course, is when and how much will they go through between that, assuming it happens?

How Many Marriages Could The Young Sheldon Spinoff Show? 

Given the series' title, one would imagine that Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will only cover that. At the same time, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that we see the two split early in the series and pursue other relationships as the show continues. We even saw Georgie dating other women temporarily when Mandy wasn't interested in being anything more than the mother of his child, but they did eventually get married in a courthouse ceremony.

While we don't know who will be in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, we've already heard from Young Sheldon stars like Raegan Revord that she was not invited to reprise her role as Missy Cooper. If this Young Sheldon spinoff will not revisit Missy's bummer ending or other family stuff with Georgie, then it might be because relationship stuff will dominate screen time.

Of course, we're so deep in the weeds of speculation that readers need to take all this with a grain of salt. We don't know for certain that the mentioned logo is the official one for Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, but it certainly could be. If that's the case, I'll be very curious as to whether Georgie and Mandy will get back together after splitting.

Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage will debut on CBS as part of its fall 2024 release schedule. I know that I'm for sure going to check out the latest show from The Big Bang Theory family, especially after seeing stars Montana Jordan and Emily Osment shine in Young Sheldon.

Young Sheldon's final episodes featured some real gut-wrenching moments, including the powerful death of George Sr. As sad as that was, I still can't help but feel bad for Missy Cooper, since Sheldon's sister doesn't end up a massive part of The Big Bang Theory, and actress Raegan Revord confirmed she wasn't invited to co-star in the spinoff Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage. Revord opened up about why Missy's YS ending was a bit of a bummer, and I have to agree given the character's fictional future.

It's fair to say that Georgie and Sheldon took up much of the spotlight across the latter seasons of Young Sheldon. Missy's storylines usually revolved around her acting out or rebelling due to a lack of attention, but she always had her father's love and support to fall back on. That changed in the final episodes due to George Sr.'s death, and as Raegan Revord explained in a recent interview with TVLine, the story for Missy doesn't get much better from there:

Young Sheldon saw the star character and his sister walk different paths following the death of their father, which was best illustrated in one key scene. Despite his atheist beliefs and fear of bacteria, Sheldon made the shocking decision to get baptized in the church to appease his mother. Missy initially agreed to do so as well, but after a thoughtless word by Pastor Jeff, she stormed off and refused to take part in the ceremony.

Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time in the episode to properly unpack Missy's side of it all. Sheldon still had to be shown moving on to CalTech, and the return of Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik as their TBBT characters in the flash-forward scenes provided additional context on the story's significance, while also filling out extra runtime..

Missy was short-changed in the finale, and if that weren't enough, it doesn't appear as though we'll get a chance to see Raegan Revord's play the character again in the future. Of course, there's always a possibility she'll eventually be extended an offer to appear on the Georgie and Mandy spinoff, as it's hard to imagine they won't need a babysitter or something like that.

Plus, we know from The Big Bang Theory that Georgie supported his mother and sister a lot after Sheldon left, so unless the showrunner changes that element of the story like certain parts of Young Sheldon did, it's hard to imagine she won't at least guest-star in an episode or two. I'll continue to cross my fingers and hope, because they can't do Missy dirty with such an unsatisfying ending like that.

Young Sheldon Seasons 1-6 are available to stream now with a Netflix subscription, but Season 7 has not been added yet. Continue to keep those eyes peeled for when it may arrive because even if it is a bummer for Missy, it's a season that fans won't want to miss.
