E3 2014: Let It Die Coming Exclusively To PS4 In 2015

Suda 51 is a very creative mind. The man has become renown for some of the most visually compelling and cognitively challenging concepts made available in the interactive entertainment space. The man behind niche hits such as Killer 7 and No More Heroes is back at the helm of a brand new PS4 exclusive from GungHo Online Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacturer called Let It Die.

The game was originally showcased during Sony's E3 stage conference to very little fanfare from the audience, mainly because no one had idea what it was they just watched. The debut trailer for the game is below, but it doesn't really tell you what it is you're watching, or what it the game will entail as far as gameplay goes.

On the bright side, the press release and website offer some more hints as to what the game will actually be about, with Kazuki Morishita, CEO of GungHo Online Entertainment commenting about the upcoming title, saying...

“SUDA51 and Grasshopper Manufacture have built a strong reputation delivering action games with a distinct visual and narrative flair. With the creative input from GungHo Online Entertainment, LET IT DIE promises to deliver an intense survival action-focused experience for players,”“E3 was the ideal stage to take the cover off this unique game and we’re sure fans will be eager for our next unveiling.”

I imagine by “next unveiling” he's talking about the Tokyo Game Show? Let It Die would be perfectly suited for more info and explanation at an event that centers around the Japanese culture of video games.

As for the game itself... as indicated by the trailer, the screenshots and the oh-so-very brief description in the press release, we're led to believe that players will take control of a character trying to survive in a harsh world, similar to Manhunt. However, the twist is that the game sports aynchronous online multiplayer, presumably similar to games like Dark Souls, where players can invade or be invaded by other players in nondescript ways.

The theme of the trailer and the presentation of the press release seem to hint at players possibly being killed at any time by other surviving players.

Depending on the construction of the maps and layout could ultimately determine how intense and unnerving the game could be.

I mean, an online version of a game like Manhunt where the other hunters aren't just NPCs or AI but actually other human beings could completely change the landscape of the interactive experience. Assuming it plays out as suspected. I guess we'll find out at another upcoming event soon enough.

In the meantime you can learn very little else by paying a visit to the game's official website. Once again, Let It Die will be exclusively made available for the PlayStation 4 in 2015.
