Guilty Gear Xrd Sign Announced With Unreal Engine Trailer

Arc System Works has announced that the next installment of the Guilty Gear franchise is on the way called Guilty Gear Xrd Sign. The game will be the first in the series to make a foray into 3D engine technology for next generation systems. Yes, Arc System Works is employing Epic's Unreal Engine for GG Xrd Sign.

Three of the characters from the long running series have already been confirmed, with the uber-cool Sol Badguy making an appearance, and Ky and Millia also joining the ranks. You can probably expect a few more familiar faces (and new heroes/villains) to join the crew as the promotion for the game ramps up.

The fighting, though, looks absolutely sick, like the natural evolution of the Guilty Gear fighting mechanics taken to proper heights for the new generation of gaming. As you see in the video there are tons of dynamic super-to-cancel-combo counter mechanics, which is like a fighting gamer's wet dream come true, and enough ground-to-air transitional specials to keep the jump-attack lead-in gamers happy to no end.

Most importantly, this game will absolutely tear crap up at EVO. Can you imagine what the finals will look like between two established, professional gamers? Absolutely epic.

Additional information will be made available for Guilty Gear Xrd, and I'm already extremely impressed with the way Arc Systems has been able to get the 3D look but with all the hit frame fluidity only found in 2D, sprite-based fighting games. These are exciting times my friend.
