EA revealed today that they've entered an "extensive and extensive creative collaboration" with pop star Katy Perry. The company will release several The Sims games with exclusive Katy Perry-themed content. The first fruit of this partnership is a special Collector's Edition for The Sims Showtime.
"I love how you're able to play out different stories through your Sims characters - giving them different careers and watching them succeed,” said Perry. “It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!"
The Sims 3 Showtime Katy Perry Collector's Edition includes the Showtime expansion Pack as well as an Ultimate Stage bonus venue and an exclusive poster. You'll also get a raft of content inspired by Katy Perry such as clothing, a guitar, a hairstyle, and stage props. Box art for the CE is below.
Showtime seems like an appropriate start to the collaboration between Perry and The Sims Studio. In the expansion, players can become a pop superstar. They can pursue a career as a singer, acrobat, musician, or DJ. They'll be able to customize their stage and performance clothing, as well as their traits, skills and lifetime wishes. A new SimPort feature will let players send their Sims on tours through their friends' worlds.
EA plans to release Showtime in March. The Katy Perry Collector's Edition costs $49.99. The standard edition only costs $39.99 but has fewer teenage dreams.
The financial terms of Perry's partnership with EA weren't mentioned.
