Limbo Arrives On Mac App Store

Playdead's puzzle-platform game Limbo will neglect Mac gamers no longer. The indie hit is now available for systems with Mac OS X 10.6 or later through the App Store for $9.99.

In Limbo, a boy enters a dark forest in order to find his missing sister. He must avoid a series of monsters, traps, and other hazards in this journey. While there was some griping about the game's length but it also received a lot of praise for its puzzle design and minimalist art style and story-telling.

One upside to simple, grayscale graphics is that they make the game playable on a wide variety of machines. You'll need a mere 1GB of RAM and 150MB of hard drive space in order to run it. Any Open GL 2.0 compatible video card with 256MB of shared or dedicated RAM will suffice.

Limbo was previously released on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Joystiq says that the Mac version will arrive on Steam on January 13th. The Steam version of Limbo will support SteamPlay, meaning that if you purchase the game once you can unlock it for both the PC and Mac. Saved files will be synchronized between the two versions as well.
